Speaker 1 (00:04):
Not one, but three new iPhones this year. I'm Rich Demiro.
This is Rich on Tech Daily. A new report says
Apple will launch three new phones this fall, including a
less expensive model. So what we're looking at here are
basically three iPhone tens, but in different sizes. They're all
gonna have face ID plus those edge to edge screens,
but they're going to come in small, medium, and i'd

(00:27):
say extra large in the high end, a six and
a half inch screen. This is an inch bigger than
the eight plus. There's also going to be the smaller
updated iPhone ten plus an even smaller version of the
iPhone ten that should cost less. So how are they
going to get that price down? Will it may not
have the super expensive screen of the flagship model, or

(00:47):
maybe they'll do something with the camera last year's technology.
This report is out of Bloomberg from a reporter that
is pretty good about knowing about this stuff all right,
Twenty eighteen could be the year of mobile malware. Secure
for McAfee reported sixteen million infections in twenty seventeen, which
is way more than the previous year, and they say
hackers are becoming more focused on mobile attacks. Some of

(01:10):
the predicted targets. In twenty eighteen, banking trojans aimed at
account holders at large and small banks, virtual bank robberies
to grab cryptocurrency, and using the cameras, microphones and GPS
on our phones to spy on us. This is what
we really have to watch out for as the average person.
My advice when you download any app, be very weary

(01:33):
of the permissions it asks for, especially when it comes
to the camera, GPS and microphone. If you think an
app does not need the permissions that it asks for,
press that cancel button and find a new one. Speaking
of apps, a new one is heading to the top
of the charts because it's sort of the anti Instagram.
It's called Vero, and it lets you share movies, TV music,
places photos, and links in a way that Instagram kind

(01:56):
of used to be. There's no algorithm and there are
no ads. You see your friend friends posts in chronological order.
Plus you can choose the audience for each and every post.
You can say only your close friends see it, or
only your friends, acquaintances, or followers, which is basically public
Vero is now topping the app charts for social media
both on Google Play and the App Store. I played

(02:19):
around with this, I signed up. It actually looks very promising.
I don't know if it's gonna be around in six months,
if a lot of people are gonna be using it,
but I really like how you can recommend things like
movies and the music that you're listening to, because sometimes
you just want to see what someone's into and there's
not really an easy way of doing that. Right now,
you can find a link on my website. Just go
to Rich on tech dot tv. Thanks so much for listening.

(02:39):
The best thing you can do for me is to
rate and review the podcast. Just open up the podcasts
app there's a place to do that right at the bottom,
and don't forget to subscribe. I really appreciate you listening.
I'm richdmiro Rich on tech dot tv. I'll talk to
you next time.
