What's going on, rich tamiro here rich on tech and
today I'm taking a look at the EPSIN Fast Photo
FF six point scanner. This is a scanner that is
dedicated to getting your old pictures that are printed digitized.
That way you can upload them to places like Google
Photos or Dropbox or Facebook or wherever you want to
put them. But basically, we all have those pictures in

the garage just collecting dust. This's gets some out of
those boxes and into our computers and save forever. So
let's talk about the Fast Photo. EPSIN says it's the
world's fastest photo scanner. You can scan photos as fast
as one photo per second. Now that's at three hundred dpi.
You'll probably want to use the six hundred setting, which
you can do as well. I found that it scanned

really fast, but the processing part took a little bit longer.
This is where it really depends on the speed of
your computer. So if you have a fast computer. I
had mine hooked up to a MacBook. It worked pretty fast.
You can do thirty photos at a time. I didn't
think it was slow at all. I mean I really
thought that this was a very fast way to get
your pictures digitized. Let's see. So once your pictures are in,

(01:11):
the software does some neat stuff. Epsom has customs software
that not only helps you group your pictures by like date,
so before you scan them in, it'll say, hey, when
did you take these? Just give us a guess, you know,
the year, the decade was it Christmas? Give us some keywords,
and that way, when you organize them later throw them
into any software you have, it'll kind of put them
in better order and also give some keywords to sort

(01:33):
of work off of. Now I understand that Google Photos
will obviously look inside these pictures for faces and clues
like Christmas, so that makes life even easier as well.
Another cool feature of this device is that it scans
both the front and the back of your pictures at
the same time. This is really handy because remember the
days when people actually used to write on the back
of their photos. Yes, it will capture all of that stuff.

(01:56):
The only downside to that I found is that since
the two files aren't necessarily linked together, they are by
file name, but when you drop them into something like
Google Photos, the back and the front are just sort
of next to each other and not necessarily I found
so you do have it, but sometimes you got to
match up which picture it went with. The one other
thing I noticed is that you have to be really
careful with dust or it can really ruin your scans.

(02:19):
So we scanned in a bunch of pictures. I asked
my mom to help me out because she had all
the pictures hiding in her garage. But when we scan them,
we notice that there are some lines in the picture.
So you really have to be careful because just one
speck of dust on these scan heads will cause those lines.
And you don't want that to happen on your pictures
because then you have to do it all over again.
So make sure that you clean your pictures first before

(02:41):
you throw them in. Here EPSOM does include a kind
of a lint cloth so you can wipe off these
scan heads. Every so often the machine does open up,
let's see. So once you have them all scanned in again,
it's pretty simple. You get the files, you can throw
them into dropbox, Google photos, Facebook, make some tvts on Instagram.
It is a amazing And so here's the deal. This

thing is expensive. It's six hundred and fifty dollars and
that's going to keep a lot of people away from it.
It's much more expensive than sending your photos out to
a service like scan my photos dot com, which I
did in the past, but you have to mail those
through the mail, so you may not be comfortable parting
with your photos. This is more for the DIY person,
where you can do it yourself. You know you're doing

(03:23):
the job properly, and also your photos do not leave
your side at any time. So what about the high cost, Well,
you can split the cost among family members, share it
with your family members, and when you're done with this device,
you can either use it as a dedicated document scanner,
which you know you might need, but you can probably
use your phone for that. Otherwise, I'd say maybe flip

(03:45):
it on eBay and you can recoup even more of
the cost of the Fast Photos. So my mom loved it.
We scanned a bunch of her pictures in not all
of them, but we got through about six hundred of
them in an hour, so that's pretty good. Again, it's
called the EPSOM Fast Photo FF six. The biggest downside
is really just the price. But you have to understand
this is a serious scanner for some serious job, so

get those pictures scanned no matter what, because you don't
