So yesterday we talked about the bar here in Louisville
that has their liquor license suspended now after a weekend
shooting that injured two women. And the issue here is that,
in fact, the bar and restaurant itself, Double Deuces, didn't
report a shooting happening they I guess were I mean

the woman who went to the hospital four hours I
think it was after the shooting took place. That is,
whenever it became a known thing that hey, a shooting
happened here. So obviously you can't do that. And then
the allegation is that the victim was offered a VIP
card to the club in order to not report the
shooting to authorities. So those two things obviously will we'll

get you in trouble. But what I wanted to the
reason I wanted to bring this up again is because
Louisville Metro Alcoholic Beverage Center, I'm sorry, Control ABC. They
looks like they've got seventeen hundred license is throughout the
metro area as far as bars, and I do feel

like there have been there's been more more coverage of
licenses getting suspended, but it really isn't as much as
I believe so six have faced suspension in the past year.
And this is the latest, of course, the Double Deuce's Bar.
And this is by the way, from my partners over
at WKY. Misty Wright is the Louisville's executive director of

Community Safety. She says that these shutdowns are part of
a broader city strategy focused on prevention, intervention, and enforcement,
shutting down businesses that facilitate or promote criminal activity. So
a recent ABC public safety survey from the Highlands neighborhood
drew more than fourteen one hundred responsors. Keeping mind the Highlands,
we're dealing with this quite quite a bit in the

early part of the summer, and that led to some
of the restaurants and bars shutting down earlier than they
than they typically shut down, just to try to put
a stop to just becoming what it was becoming over there,
especially late into the evenings and early mornings on weekends.
But in that fourteen one hundred, yeah, fourty, you may

make sure I had the number right, fourteen hundred people responded.
Seventy nine percent said that there aren't too many businesses
selling alcohol over half set hours of operation or a
problem and support ending alcohol sales after two am. Brad
Silvieri of the Metro ABC said the goal isn't punishment
but safety, noting seventy five percent increase in enforcement actions
in the California neighborhood this year compared to twenty twenty four.

So if I was in that neighborhood and I was
dealing with it, I would and I'll never know, but
I would assume that would be my whole thing. It's like,
I'm not saying that I wouldn't feel like, hey, there
are way too many places around here that offer alcohol,
but having it being sold past two am would probably
be something that I would prefer, just assuming that that
could potentially keep me from having issues where I'm up

late all night because there's just so much going on
near my home. But when it comes to things that
can get you suspend and did shut down, I feel
like one of the most one of the most common
common ones has to be serving alcohol to minors. In fact,
I think one of the recent suspensions was was was
because of that might have been like their second time

doing it. But one thing that I that I rarely
ever think about, but man, it would be difficult is
serving intoxicated patrons, So Konsucky law prohibits serving someone who's
already visibly drunk. If a patron causes an accident after
being overserved, of course the bar can be held liable.
There's many stories, many stories of that, But that to

me is an impossible thing to know. It's fine, I mean,
I guess you know you have to make a judgment call.
But in a packed and crowded bar when the person's
order you're taking is like barely visible because they're reaching
around somebody to just to get your attention, I mean,
I think in a split second, I don't. I mean,

I don't think you would you would know. Now there
are people who like may not be able to stand
as they're ordering a drink. That could be that could
be the giveaway. But I feel like more often than not,
I could be completely hammered order and not need anymore
and order a drink at a bar, and I wouldn't

I mean, maybe I would be so out of it
that I wouldn't even notice that they're making observations about
the state of mind that I'm in. But I just
I think one that would be really really hard to
actually keep in mind every time you're serving a drink.
Is this person intoxicated? Are they pass their limit? But also,
like I know people don't do that, you know what
I mean, Like it's just I'm sure some do, but

i'd say more often than not, that's not that's not
followed as much as it probably should be. But also
I think another question is I mean, I think you
could make the You could find many people that say, look,
they're serving alcohol, but it's you that's responsible. And if
you got too drunk and didn't know when to quit,
look in the mirror, that's on you. I'm sure a
lot of people view it that way, and I totally understand,

all right, what I want to do coming up here
on the other side is all these open jobs in
college football. Some of them are really good. Some of
the jobs aren't even open yet that are really good.
And I think just got it. We've got ourselves an
off season of hirings being made in college football that
will stand out probably for a long time as far
as just the big name jobs out there. And look,

there's a lot more big name jobs, good jobs. And
I don't think there are that many obvious great coaches
to take these jobs. I mean, you never know, right,
We'll get to that next right here on news Ready
to wait forty whs. So last week it was Penn State,
and just a couple of days ago, I guess it
was Sunday, Florida they made the move firing their head coaches,

Billy Napier and James Franklin looking for work. I'm sure
James Franklin will find work if he wants. Billy Napier
probably will as well, just certainly not at the level
of Florida, where he was just let go after a
very underwhelming twenty two and twenty three stint, although he
did get fired after a win, which is rare but

still needed to happen. So the current power for jobs
open right now, you'll go Florida, Penn State, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Tech,
U c l A, and Stanford. And that is exactly
how CBS Sports has these ranked. So John, let's say Florida,

Penn State, and we'll throw Arkansas in there too. Why not,
because I think after that there's there's there's a gap.
But if all those jobs are offering you the same
exact salary, okay, and clearly all three are in a
situation to wear well, I guess Penn State's rare because
they were just in the playoff last year.

Yeah, so true.

You know they've had some sustained success. But of those three,
what is the most attractive to you? The human being?
Meaning you, You're not just going to think about, hey,
which team's been better, but like, which do you think
would fit you? Because that that's something that rarely ever gets.
It's mentioned about coaching searches and candidates is that it's
a job, and the lifestyle, the expectation. I mean, you

obviously want to make money and you want to win,
but there's other there's other factors that a lot of
people probably don't think about.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
If it's me and I'm a high level head coach
and it's one of those three jobs, I think I'm
taking Penn State and it's simply because I think it's
easier to win. And this is kind of taking a
shot at my own conference. I think it's easier to
win and have success in the Big Ten than it
is in the SEC. We've talked about the depth of
some of the middle tier teams. That's why you've kind
of seen Florida struggle. And yeah, you get the right

(07:35):
guy in the job. They'll figure it out and they'll
get back to the playoff and that sort of thing.
I just think it's much easier. I mean, you just
mentioned Penn State coming off their their semi final berth
nearly made it to the title game last year. But
the issue with James Franklin is he couldn't win the
big game. And maybe that's what I'm gonna do here, Nick,
I'm gonna go to Penn State and win the.

Big finally win those big games for him and get
him over the hump. Yeah, I think you know, Florida,
Florida would probably be.

And by the way, this is something that not that
I'm going to compare myself to these coaches, but this
is another part of it that did a lot of
Like for example, when Charlie Strong left for Texas, which
it's so true to I mean, looking back at is
crazy to think about how fans acted like, oh, yeah,
he won't go there. I mean, and look, it worked
out the way we thought it was. It was not

a good fit at all from the start, and that
job was too big for him and it just it
didn't work. But coaches don't think like that. They're competitors.
That's what's led to them being candidates and being in
a position to where they're offered these jobs. So no
coach ever really thinks, oh, well, I can't go there
because I won't win, you know what I mean. They
just in their mind there's no scenario they're not going
to win wherever they go, and that's how they're wired.

So I bring that up to say I would be
like a lot of these other coaches and not realize that, hey,
I could be really good at Florida, but Florida, I mean,
the expectations high. Now you could maybe benefit early on
from from just being better than Napier, right and being me. Look,
since since honestly, since they lost I guess it was
musch Champ. After his first few years, they've been they've

been pretty lousy, especially for a program that had really
high standards and had a phenomenal decade in the two thousands.
So you may be able to benefit from, you know,
winning at a high level, but not you know, not
eclipsing the Georgias of the world in the Alabamas, and
you still be a made man in your within your
fan base, but the expectations national championship at a place

(09:31):
like Florida, and I think they've got every resource you
would ever need when it comes to winning at the
highest level. But you could be elite great and just
know that the teams that your fans compare you to
they are also just as good with just as better
with with just as much resources. And oh, by the way,
they're not starting over like you are. Kirby Smart's had
it rolling for a while now, right, I mean, I

(09:53):
think Georgia and Florida. I mean, i'd say, if you're
a Florida fan and you think of your new head coach,
you want somebody that's going to put you to where
you're competitive with Florida. I'm sorry with Georgia and you
start getting the best of them, So I would probably
go with Florida. But I think the Penn State one
makes a lot of sense for what you said as
far as just knowing, Hey, life in the Big Ten
night in and night out is not as tough as
the SEC, although that is changing, wouldn't you agree? I mean, yeah,

(10:14):
we've talked about this too earlier this week. I feel
like the top of the Big Ten is better than
the top of the SEC right now, But it's that
middle ground where you kind of get things a little
bit different. I feel like the maybe teams four through
eight in the SEC are a little tougher than the
fourth rate and the Big ten, so to speak. Yeah,
And I think also it also depends on sort of

where you are as a coach, right, Like, if you've
got options to go to the three schools we just mentioned,
you would take all three of those SEC and Big
ten jobs overtaking a Big twelve job. But I think
Oklahoma State is a place that has resources where you
can win. And I think the Big twelve annually is
going to be for the taking. I don't think there's
any program there that's just going to be set up
to be a bully for years to come. So like,

if you're and he's going to get a bigger offer,
I'm sure, But like a John So, I'm all, for example,
put it this way, will Stein. If Will Stein, who's
the former Louisville quarterback who's now the OC at Oregon,
if he's not the guy for one of those big jobs,
heck he may sit around and wait because he can
do that. But I think Oklahoma State's a place where
he could tap in and rent win right away. And
maybe put himself in a position to get one of

the best jobs in the country after that. So interesting, Again,
I think there's way more that goes into this than

would be entering the third week of the government shut down,
I would have said that, all right, this has become
a real big issue to where it's just dominating the headlines.
It's all anybody's talking about. And I don't want to
act like it's not impacting folks, because I'm sure there
are people listening right now that have maybe had some
assistance that they're used to that's no longer there because

of the shutdowns. So I don't want to act like
it hasn't had any impact. Maybe you're somebody that's been
in a nightmare situation at an airport because of the shutdown,
So everybody's situation is different, but I would have expected
there to be more. I guess folks up in arms.
Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, But anyways,
it'll continue to be referenced because again it's a rare
thing that it happens, and there's a lot of lingering

effects when there's a government shutdown. But three weeks in
roughly and still up, still no seeming progress. To be
honest with you, all right, let's switch gears here. This
is something that I know many will have opinions on
from their experiences. But we've got an update that tells
us the fast food speed rankings John which fast food

restaurants in fact really emphasize fast food, meaning they get
it to you quick.

I think there there's only one real answer for this,
and obviously this is not a you know, a sponsor,
but I think it's Chick fil A. I think even
if the line's long, you're in and out of there,
and I think it's ten minutes max. If it's crowded.

Yeah, and I take issue with this because I mean,
this doesn't even have Chick fil A listed as one
of the best, and I just think that that can't be.

There's no way.

Yeah, it's I mean, now they dominate when it comes
to friendliness overall satisfaction, but they don't do well in
the and now it could be that, like the line
is moving quickly, so there and you have great service,
and they're always telling you how much of a pleasure
it is. They love that word, pleasure, love. They love

the pleasure word. I think it's a requirement. You got
to have thirty instances of where you reference being pleasured.
And it's just it's really uncomfortable. But you know, again,
it's good service. But anyways, because of all the good
that comes with it, you don't realize that you do,
in fact, wait longer than you do. I mean I

would have expected. I mean, look, I think you could
take the overall process of the Chick fil A drive
through and whoever put that together streamlined it, have them
implement new systems and processes throughout our country, right, Like,
how about how about we send the guy or gal
over who's responsible for Chick fil A executing the drive
through flawlessly let's have them take over TSA at the airport.

(15:28):
Speed that up a little bit. I mean, again, there's
no reason for certain things to be as slow as
it is in Chick fil A. I mean, you could
have a you could have a drive through a line
six miles long. People aren't intimidated by that. They're gonna
wait because they like the food and they know that
they're going to get good service. And it likely will
be because again, your mind tells you when you see
that line that it's going to be a little bit

of a wait. So therefore, Chick fil A so consistently
setting the standard, you know.

Drive through efficiency speed.

Yeah, exactly, So the efficiency of it makes it to
where you're you know, you're you're not bothered by the
long line. So the Taco Bell, by the way, claims
the fastest.

That surprises me big time.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yeah, but inn't this just a reminder also how many
locations there are and everybody's everybody's perception is going to
be based off of what happens at the one they
go to. I will say the Taco Bell that I
go to it, I think it had a change of
staff management within the last few years, and it is
insanely fast. I mean, if there's nobody in line or
one car ahead of me, I don't even know how

they were able to get the food in the bag
as quickly quickly as they did. But also I think
Taco Bell, when people seem to want it, it's at
peak times, and their their weight is because I think
they just typically I mean honestly two things. One, usually
the line is really long. If the line's not very
long at Taco Bell, I feel like I don't wait
that long. But oftentimes the line is very long, and

people seem to order a lot of menu items, which
again just adds to the overall the overall time. KFC,
which I had not had KFC in no joke, maybe
ten years, and I had it recently John and I
got to say, I need to put more respect on
the colonel's name.

It hits my wife and I got a bucket of
chicken this past weekend from KFC.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Oh, I had the original recipe chicken from KFC that slaps,
oh my god, it's so good. And I'm sitting here thinking,
like you know, I'm reacting as I'm as I'm just
inhaling it to my wife like like it's some new
place we've never heard of. We got to check this
place out more often. I mean KFC, it's a staple,
It's Kentucky Fried Chicken. We just never think of it
when it comes to eating fast food. We don't eat

fast food a whole lot. But I'm going to go
back and see the Colonel sooner rather than later, because
it had been too long. I forgot how good he is.
I mean KFC good stuff all right. Rby's and Wendy's
round out. I think those two places no offense the draft.
It's pretty quick there because there's never anybody there, I
mean especially Arby's.

Y's has its moments sometimes.

Look I like our but I don't like fast food
where I have to, you know, take out a loan
to get a meal. And also it's just you know,
I don't know, it just doesn't. When I have it,
it's good, but I never crave it and seek it
out right.

I'd tell Arby's has some of the best fast food
mozzarella sticks though.

I actually think that's the best thing on their menu,
and I like the beef and cheddar as well. You're right,
it's a hidden gym when it comes to I'm really hungry.

like in the evenings this week and early mornings as well,
we could see some real chili temperatures to where if
you haven't felt it yet as far as the fall

season being here, you certainly will a little later this week.
Right now, fifty eight degrees and looks like we've got
some good weather the rest of the week. However, rain
could be returning once again for the weekend, so just
keep that in mind. Never I mean, if it's going
to rain, I'd rather do it. I'd rather it happened
during the week, not on the weekend. Whenever there's things
you could be out doing, especially this season in the fall,

whether it be pumpkin patches, Halloween events, all that kind
of stuff. All right, right now, you may have noticed
homes tend to be sitting on the market a little
bit longer, right inventory rising. In today's real estate market,
