in Texas has been a big talking point, not only
here throughout the week, but across the country, and we
here at iHeart are letting folks know what they can
do if they want to help out when it comes
to those that are in need, and there are certainly
a lot of people in need. Just the devastating floods,
it's impacted countless people. I mean, there are families that
have lost loved ones, lost their homes, communities really changed forever.

words that can make anybody feel any better about this
situation all the way around, but there's certainly a heightened awareness,
I would say to just being sensitive to what's going on.
And I'll tell you what the response from Greg Abbott,

I'm not being sarcastic when I say this. When I
first saw the video, I was of the belief that, well,
AI is even more powerful than I realized, because I
totally would have believed that was real. But there's no
way the governor of Texas really said that, did he?
And sure enough he did. And I'll let you guys
hear it for yourself. Maybe I'm being dramatic, maybe I'm overreacting,

but I mean I comparing a tragic situation where children did,
many people dead, many people still unaccounted for, comparing it
to football. Talk about tone, def talk about lack of awareness,
and it still doesn't seem real. And I did a

lot of look and just to make sure I wasn't
getting God, because this is almost unbelievable, at least from
my perspective.

Second party question needs to be addressed. You ask, and
I'm going to use your words, who's to blame? Know this?
That's the word choice of losers. Let me explain one
thing about Texas, and that is Texas. Every score inch
of our state cares about football. You could be in Hunt, Texas, Huntsville, Texas, Houston, Texas,

any size community that care about football. High school, Friday
night lights, college football are pro and know this. Every
football team makes mistakes. The losing teams are the ones
that try to point out who's to blame. The championship
teams other ones to say, don't worry about it, man,
we got this. We're gonna make sure that we go

score again, then we're gonna win this game. The way
winners talk is not to put fingers. They talk about solutions.
Second party question needs to be addressed. So you ask,
I'm gonna use your words.

That was that? Was it replaying? So but I mean,
I'm speechless as far as like that's the thing that
comes to mind as if there's a comparison between football
and I mean, this is like the ultimate thing that
you like. Football doesn't come to mind for anybody. I mean,
I'm not gonna put I am I gonna was gonna say,

John'm putting you. I'm not gonna put you on the spot.
While putting you on the spot. If I told you
that was fake, would you believe Like, would you believe me?
Because it just because you wouldn't expect somebody would kind
of analogy. And I know they loved football in Texas, Like,
come on.

I would think the quote was fake if I just
saw the quote. But listening to him talking to me,
that definitely it didn't sound like an AI voice recording
or anything like that. And I just hate when politicians,
I don't care what side of the aisle they're on,
whenever they try to get cute see and say stuff
like that. It's very it's cringe worthy, it's uncalled for.

It's uncomfortable.

H Yeah, very uncomfortable.

Let me give you an example. And I know this
is going to sound like I'm going overboard here as
just traumatizing the whole thing, But I'm just trying to
give you an example of I'm just giving you perspective
for mind. As far as what came to mind from
me when I heard that and then realized it was real.
If someone called into a talk show that I was hosting,
let's say this was a caller driven type of show,

and they started to go down the path of comparing
that tragic situation in Texas to something in sports, and
even if I felt like they were coming from a
good place, I would just think I would probably run
the call or not in a you know, it depends
on really I guess what they said, but I mean

(04:55):
I would probably cut them off because I would just
I would try to. I would feel like I needed
to get in the wor of it getting to the
point where people realize how ridiculous it is to make
the comparison here and the analogy to football and saying
that if there is anybody questioning if there's someone to
blame or what could have been done, that they're losers.
And in Texas, you know, we all love football, and

that's a loser mentality. Like I would have felt like
it was my duty to keep it from getting there,
and yet the governor of the state he took it
there himself. It's just again, I know I'm sounding like
I'm over the top. I just I don't know how
that because you had to know you're going to be
asked about that. I mean, you really can't expect any
question to be a surprise whenever this kind of thing happens,

(05:41):
and you are the leader of that state. So I mean,
it's not criminal, it's just really stupid and just I
mean when I think of Greg Abbott, which I probably
won't think about him often, I'm gonna think about that
because I really thought that that was I mean, it's
just stupid more than any to go there. And look,

(06:02):
the easy answer was right there. As far as who's
to blame, it's to you know, say that you know
it's it's a tragic situation. We're not finger pointing. We're
we're focused on, you know, rebuilding the community and mentioned
that you still want to find those that are unaccounted for,
and just I mean you could easily within three seconds

(06:23):
make it clear nobody's blaming anybody. We're just trying to
do our best to handle the situation and be there,
be there for those in need. I mean, look, if
you need a PR person, I think I just applied
for the job. That was kind of a very jumbled
up way to put it together. But like where he went,
there had to be warning signs in his brain that
should have told him not to go there, but he couldn't.

He couldn't avoid. All right, we've got an update on
traffick and weather coming your way. Bobby Ellis will tell
us the latest when it comes to the roadways out
here in Kentucky, and then we'll get Matt Melosovich to
tell us what we're looking at when it comes to
the forecast today right here on News Radio eight forty.
Whas it kind of feels gross saying the cell of
ration continues, given the fact that the celebration is due

to justice finally being served ten years after a tragic situation,
but I think that's what it is. Bartstown is celebrating
the fact that Brooks how was found guilty of murder
earlier this week along with one of his accomplices. And
it doesn't seem like it's over. And I don't know
what the next step is. Nobody really does. But when

(07:25):
you consider what was said by those that were involved
in some form or fashion as far as justice for
Crystal Rogers family, maybe I'm looking a little too deep
into it. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my end, because yes,
you'd want anybody that had any role in this or
maybe the role in her father's murder to be held accountable.

(07:47):
But right after the jury handed in their verdict, and
you know a lot of folks, you know, they're covering
the trial in Bowling Green, you had lead Detective John
Snow who did talk to the me. We shared that
sound with you yesterday. I'm sure you heard it many
times throughout the day here at news radio eight forty WHS.
But the quote was we got a little more to go,

(08:08):
and then when asked to explain, he simply stated, you'll see.
And then also Nelson, the Nelson County Sheriff, I mean
he called the verdict quote just the beginning end quote
and hinted at a quote domino effect. I kind of
feel like you don't say those things unless you know
that action is about to be taken. And others, probably

(08:32):
Nick Halc, maybe his mother Rosemary, are the next to
be on trial and potentially spend a lot of time
in prison, maybe the rest of their lives. And clearly
that's what people are rooting for, because you want everybody
to be held accountable. So the one person that is
yet to be charged in anything is Nick Halck, and

(08:55):
I just think he's got if you're him, and I
don't be hard to try to put yourself in his shoes,
and I wouldn't really ask you to, but he has
to have I mean, for years now, he's probably had
fear that this would play out and they'd all get caught.
And technically he's a free man right now. But if
there's a knock on the door or maybe a phone
call to his attorney, because he probably already has one
as far as just letting them know charges formal charges

(09:19):
are coming, that kind of thing, I mean, he can't
be surprised. He probably already has a plan in place,
unless the root of really just I mean, you're a
heinous person to be involved in any former fashion and
murdering somebody, right, But I mean, I think arrogance was
clearly on display to think that they would be able
to do this and get away with it, and some

(09:39):
of them, I guess, as of right now have but
the cases here involving Tommy Ballard, the father of Crystal Rogers,
and of course police officer Jason Ellis who was ambushed
and murdered back in twenty thirteen, they are making it
clear that these cases are not officially linked, but they
have noted that there are a lot of similarities in shock.

Wouldn't shock me at all if we end up seeing
more charges coming for not only people involved in the
Crystal Rogers situation, but also her father, Tommy Balad, and
maybe even back to that murder twelve years ago of
Officer Ellis. So certainly a good week in Barchtown, as
many are just happy that justice has served, at least

in some former fashion and obviously some step, I would say,
in the closure process for Krystal Rodgers family. All right,
We've got an update on traffic from Bobby Ella's coming up. Also,
we'll get the latest the latest look at the forecast
from at Melosovich, and then Scott Fitzgerald's got an update
on sports all that's coming your way right here right

in front of me, and they're showing just the atmosphere
from yesterday out at the ISCO Championship, which is getting
started in mere minutes. And not only is it exciting
to have a PGA event here in Louisville, but man,
there's so much local flavor when it comes to to
just guys that are from here or guys that played
college in the state somewhere U of l UK even

(11:05):
morehead State. So good vibes for sure. And we've got
good vibes at least I think we do. If we
could do a vibe check, I would say that the
vibes are strong here. On a Thursday morning, it is
Kentucky at his morning news news ready to wait forty
whas Nick Coffee. That's me, John Alden is alongside and
two of our big cities, in fact, the two biggest
cities here in the state of Kentucky. John have made
a list that you don't want to make. I don't know, really, Yeah,

(11:28):
Louisville and Lexington have both been listed in the top
twenty when it comes to the most boring cities in
America Most boring Cities, the most boring cities in the US.
Two of the twenty are right here in Kentucky. Louisville
is listed as the twelfth most boring city, whereas Lexington

(11:49):
is right behind them at number thirteen. And I think,
and just I guess to give you what led to
these rankings. It's a study by Finance and the Let's
see here. The study was conducted by evaluating more than
a dozen data points relating to excitement, culture, and popular

(12:11):
activities in seventy five of the biggest cities in America
to found the most and least boring cities in the country. Again,
this is according to Finance Buzz. But one thing I
think of is what you consider boring may excite me.
It may it may arouse me because some people, like
you know, I just think there's no way to really
there's no perfect science to determine what is the boring

(12:31):
city in America. But I will defend I don't think
we're boring.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
I mean, who else is I know you said, Lexington's
right next to Louisville. Who else is in same ballpark?
So right in our tier. So let's just go eleven
through fifteen. Eleven is Albuquerque, New Mexico. Again, Louisville is twelve,
Lexington's thirteen, Colorado Springs is fourteen, and Tulsa, Oklahoma's fifteen.
So of the cities here are that are featured, I've

(12:58):
not been to a lot of them, but I've been
to the one that has been listed as the most
boring city, and I mean I could find things to
do to work. When I think boring, I think of
middle of nowhere, like there's nothing to do, and I
don't know, I mean, I'm not the easiest to entertain
and I don't really know. That's probably not the right

(13:19):
way to describe it. But you know, there's certain things
that a lot of people would enjoy doing that would
be considered oh yeah, I want to do that.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
That's fun. Social events that I would I would probably
not want to I'm just you know, big crowds, that
kind of stuff. I enjoy my downtime being exactly that
to where I'm kind of like, not that I just
want to sit around all day and be lazy, but
to me, it's not really having a plan and just
kind of being able to do whatever. That's what I
really enjoy. But a lot of people would think that's
boring because sometimes you know, hey, there's not anything on

(13:47):
the schedule, but I've got a lot of opportunity to
go do whatever I want and then the day ends
up being where I didn't do anything, And sometimes that's
okay for me. But Jacksonville, Florida is the most boring
city and although again I don't can I can find
things to do there, but I will say I've been
being in Jacksonville probably five six times in my life.
It did feel at least a little bit. Put it

(14:08):
this way, there was a lot of potential there, but
there really wasn't any big attraction, Like I don't know
what I would claim Jacksonville has that would be like
their calling card or what would be, But again that's
probably me not paying enough attention to know what it is. Yeah, which,
by the way, they had outside of the Packers are
an exception because the Packers are I mean, it's it's
just there's no comparison. They're a tiny, tiny city basically

(14:31):
there's stadiums in a neighborhood. But the Packers themselves are
one of the biggest brands in all of sports, so
again they're the exception. But Jacksonville, Florida having an NFL
team is the most random thing in all professional sports. However,
a lot of people probably don't realize Jacksonville is a
humongous city as far as population, but it's probably not
something people realize because you just never think of it,

(14:52):
because it's why would it come to mind for you. Right,
And again, even if you're not an NFL fan, when
you think Jacksonville, if you don't live in Florida or
Georgia that area, you probably think of the Jaguars. So again,
I will defend both cities. I mean, even Lexington. I
don't know what I would claim Lexington has that's better
than what we have in Louisville. As far as things

(15:13):
to do that could keep it from being bored. Yeah,
you know, and as a Louisville and you know this
about me, John, as a Louisville fan. There's a lot
of people who grew up here that kind of see Louisville.
You know. They don't really claim Kentucky, but they're very
proud to be from Louisville because obviously the culture here
is a lot different in Louisville than most places. However,
I'm somebody that is I'm born and raised in Louisville.

(15:34):
I'm a Louisville Cardinal fan over UK. In fact, that's
a rivalry. So I don't root for UK and anything.
But I also am somebody that has been born and
raised in Louisville that really appreciates this state and being
from it. My father's family's roots are here in Kentucky,
actually outside of Louisville, So Lexington. I mean I could
go to Lexington and have a great time not be bored.
So we're not boring here in Louisville and Lexington. And

(15:56):
I mean you have I mean you could come here
for a week on a vaka, which I'm sure some
people have. It's probably not a big destination spot for
a week long vacation, but you could come to Louisville
for a week and not get bored if you really,
you know, realize what's out there to do. But yeah,
Jacksonville's the most boring. Wichita, Kansas number two, Corpus Christi,
Texas number three, sou Falls, South Dakota number four, Memphis,

Tennessee number five. So it could be worse. We could
be in the top five. But I'm going to make
a note to check these next year because somebody needs
to be educated on the fact that these two cities
in Kentucky are not boring at all. All. Right, let's

the presidential race, it was Kamala Harris who stepped in.
And I don't know, I could be wrong here, but

I feel like if Donald Trump didn't exist, it wouldn't
have still worked out for Kamala Harris, just because of
a variety of reasons. But the latest on her is
that there is now an interview she did among many
of course, as she's gearing up for the election that
never ended up servicing. So there's a viral TikTok series

(17:41):
that I'm unaware of, although when I read about this yesterday,
I did look into it and it's way more. I mean,
I kind of felt like I was out of the
loop because this is certainly a really popular thing within
the social media world. But there is a show called
Subway Takes. It's a TikTok show hosted by Kareem Rama
where guests share their hottest takes. To give you an example,

(18:01):
the Little nas X he was on at one point
in his hot take that he shared, the strongest opinion
was that couples should sleep in separate rooms, and that,
of course is an unpopular take that gets people thinking.
His claim was because you know, no romantic slumber, just
pragmatic space usage. Right, you can still be intimate and
have your own time, but like there's no need to

(18:23):
have to sleep in the same bed, which maybe he's
onto something here. Asia Wilson of the WNBA. She said
that reporters covering sports should have to have an athletic background.
So just to give you some context, is in regards
to the type of opinions that have been shared here, well,
she shared an opinion Kamala Harris did, and the overall
exchange between the two the host Kareem Rama and Kamala

(18:44):
Harris apparently was just so awkward and just bad that
it never aired. So she's been kind of awkward in
many moments, and I think that's that certainly didn't didn't
help her among I mean, I think was one of
the many reasons as to why she was on scsful,
But she delivered an opinion that didn't even make the

(19:06):
series because again, it was just according to the host,
the interview was recorded in the summer of twenty twenty four,
so this was prior to her stepping into Actually, actually
when did that take place, whenever Biden stepped out. I
don't remember when it was. Nonetheless, but the interview took
place last summer, and it was scrapped by mutual agreement.
Both sides agreed, Yeah, we don't want to put this out.

(19:27):
This won't benefit you or me, which I feel like
is kind of a rare thing. And when asked by
the host, when asked why, the host essentially said that
her take and her her I guess her. What she
brought as her hot take essentially was really confusing and
weird and it didn't make any sense at all, and

(19:47):
the take was bacon as a spice, So he looked
very concerned even repeating it meaning whenever he was doing
this story and telling people that his interview with her
was awkward and it never ran, but I would actually
it must be really bad. But I'm curious to hear

(20:08):
why she thinks bacon should be a spice, Like maybe
she just didn't make any sense because bacon is not
a spy. You cant have bacon flavored spice, but bacon
is not a spice. But anyways, there's and in fact,
I went back and looked at some of these and
there are some legitimate hot takes that have been shared
by people that do gets you thinking. But yeah, she was.

(20:28):
She was awkward, which didn't surprise me. But I'm now
anxious just to see how because again, for this guy
to hold off on publishing one of his guests, that
is Kamala Harris, the VP at the time potentially running
for president, it must be really bad to where like
it just would would be a bad look for his show,
which is again telling you that it must be awful.

(20:49):
