Bengals will be winners tomorrow night atpick number eighteen? Oh are you calling
your shot? And let's face it, they're gonna be winners. We're winners
every day on this show. Thattrue noon to three. You know what,
(01:07):
I could sit here, Austin,I can tell you everything that's coming
up on today's show, But Iwould assume most of our loyal listeners have
already watched the pre show video onTony on Twitter at Tony Underscore Pike fifteen.
I'm sure they have. Do Ieven need to go into what's on
the show today? Yes? Youdo? Okay, still the whole process
of doing a show. Okay.Well, as we sit here right now
one minute past twelve o'clock on thisApril twenty fourth, twenty twenty four,
(01:34):
we've got three hours of sports coveragecoming your way, and we have a
little bit of a change up.Yes, an off speed pitch here that
Hunter Green an off speed pitching fortoday's show. We're going after Hunter like
that. Anyone can get one today. Oh that's how you're feeling. Yep.
Can't nobody tell you nothing on thefourteenth anniversary? Nope? Okay,
(01:57):
No, see you working Bigan. The fourteenth anniversary of me and what once
was hundreds of friends and family, which dwindled down to about dozens of friends
and family. My name was calledto the Carolina Panthers Tony, Happy anniversary,
man, Thanks man, appreciate that. Man. We'll talk about that
later because one of my favorite shows, yeah, or one of my favorite
(02:22):
segments every year is when we talkabout your draft experience. We kind of
like we stretch it out. Westart with the combine and the Pro Day
and all that other stuff, andthen the draft day experience. Yeph is
really a special one. God blessthe broken road that's let us here today.
(02:43):
Okay, we have a very specialguest today, that is an extremely
busy guest today and tomorrow for me. ESPN Draft Analyst. He is a
Monday Night football analyst, none otherthan Lewis Riddick. Will join us today
(03:05):
at one twenty Austin. Lewis Riddickis one of the most well respected voices
in the industry. NFL college footballanalyst, ESPN, ABC, former pro
scout and director of Pro Personnel playedin the NFL. Lewis Riddick will join
(03:25):
us at one twenty today. He'sgot experience on experience on all sides of
this You say experience, experience, anybody can get it today. Yeah,
He's got experience on all sides ofthis thing in the front office, on
the field, and speaking with peopleas an analyst on TV. Does a
great job of college football as wellas his NFL coverage. So very excited
(03:46):
to have Lou on the show today. Lou Ridick I cannot imagine how busy
of a day today and tomorrow arefor Lewis Ridick, and just very thankful
for him to take some time withus to day. Of course, if
you're not familiar yet, our draftcoverage outside of just today and on sinty
(04:06):
three sixty tomorrow will also expand tothe station down the Hall seven hundred WLW.
We will head to the Holy Grailthat starts at six o'clock at the
Banks tomorrow night six to eight,Lance McAllister and Rocky Boyman. I will
join Moega from eight to ten onthe stage and then from ten to midnight
Austin and Chick Ludwick. That's correct, looking forward to being down at the
(04:30):
Holy Grail. And you know,I was just reading a tweet right before
we came on the air from PeterSchrager, the NFL insider for Fox and
NFL Network, and he said he'sthinking there could be ten trades or more
and tomorrow's first round, he said, maybe not at the top, but
once we get to five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
(04:51):
ish range, it sounds like thingscould get wild. Well, did you
see Daniel Jeremiah's tweet today? Idid so where else would you rather be
than listening to us as we breakdown all the stuff that's happening on seven
hundred WLW and also Tone from sixto seven on Friday Night. This Friday
Night six to seven Tone, I'llbe on with Joe Walter bringing the band
(05:15):
back together from our WEBN pregame show. We're gonna do an hour long pre
draft show leading into rounds two andthree of the draft on Friday night on
seven hundred WLW. Daniel Jeremiah tweetedtoday he said, to summarize my last
five phone calls, everyone is movingup for an offensive tackle in the draft.
Now. That would be something towatch if you're a fan of the
(05:40):
Cincinnati Bengals. What do the Bengalsdo if teams start to move up to
make a run on tackles? Thatcould be a very very interesting move.
New Orleans Saints are one of thoseteams that a lot of people keep talking
about, So there's a lot towatch there. That is a that's kind
(06:01):
of our NFL draft side of things. Again. Talkbacks will start our three
today so we can get to LewisRiddicks. So if you want kind of
the structure of where we're at today, a lot of reds in our number
one phone calls five, one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty, a lot of NFL, a lot of draft coverage in our
two, your talkbacks, other Cincinnatirelated sports topics, and our three along
(06:26):
with Mowagger for quick hits and locksof the night. That's kind of how
the structure of the show is goingto go. Well, it's what we
have here. Structure well, andI would be remissed before we kind of
get into everything that happened yesterday inthe world of sports. To thank our
friends at klous Roofing as we recapthe day in sports. Thanks to our
friends at Lausroofing. That's k RSCincy dot com. KRS Cinci with a
(06:51):
y dot com. What about somethingthat happened today, Tone Oh in the
NFL, oh Man, Yes,there was. The Detroits have signed an
extension for wide receiver. I shouldsay he has signed the extension wide receiver
Amen Ra Saint Brown, Amen RawSaint Brown four years more than one hundred
(07:15):
and twenty million for their young starreceiver. And how about this number,
seventy seven million guaranteed well over halfof the money on that extension guaranteed to
am and Ross, so good newsfor him and certainly a number that the
T Higgins camp will be taking takingnote of. Not bad for the camp
(07:38):
of one T Higgins. By theway, T Higgins is not as good
of a wide receiver as am andRoss. Ain't Brown, however, seventy
seven million dollars seven mili guaranteed hewould raise the floor for ta hit.
Do you think a player like JustinJefferson or Jamar Chaser thinking when they see
that number, oh man, they'reloving it? Yep, loving it.
(07:58):
What do you think JJ will getJaye jettis oh man, eighty five million?
I was gonna say, can heget close to ninety million? Guaranteed?
You would think, right? Yep, incredible, So probably good on
the Lions to get in and kindof set the bar, and I'd have
to raise it based on what otherteams do Red's winners last night eight to
one? Do we dare say,Austin that we had a hand in last
(08:24):
night because we were dogging Santiago Espinal, just dogging him. People were calling
him an automatic out, Oh whyis he in the lineup? I'm done
with this experiment. How do youput a guy like that behind Elie day
la Cruz. What kind of protectionis that? Well, three hits including
a home run, that type ofprotection. I saw a tweet from the
(08:46):
most feared hitter in the lineup rightnow, right now. Yes, I'm
mov him up to lead off.I would our guy see Trent Rosecrans last
night tweeted this out Austin last night. Signed try again. Let me just
pull up the tweet, okay, instead of just trying to remember it off
the top of my head, We'llgo to last night. Santiago Espinal with
(09:09):
a home run now has more homeruns and twice as many extra base hits
as Nick Castianos. That's right, that Santiago Espinal, more home runs,
twice as many extra base hits asSantigo Espinal. Santiago Espinal. There you
(09:31):
go. I mean, what anight for Espinal, What a night for
Christian and Carnassi and Strand Come onnow, Reds went down early one nothing?
Uh cees a three hit night,Espinal, three hit night? And
who Elie de la Cruz, Oppopower not just opo sneak one over the
left field wall, oppo left center, No doubter stare it down walk the
(09:58):
dog a little bit. I thinkpeople realize how much of a monster shot
that is from Ellie Daily Cruz andto be able to just sit there and
watch it when it's going to thedeepest part of the ballpark. Yep,
that's awesome. We'll talk about Elliewhat he's on pace to do. Andrew
Abbott last night really weird. Startright four and a third, gives up
(10:20):
the run in the first, calmsdown, and then starts the fifth,
ending with three straight walks. Yeah, it was surreal. So incomes Fernando
Cruz, who, by the way, was drafted as an infielder many years
ago by the Kansas City Royals, and like the sixth or seventh round.
Fernando Cruz said after the game thathis split fingers a gift from God.
He did. Oh that's awesome.I love that this thing is filthy.
(10:43):
He came on with the bases loadedand shut the door when it was very
much still a game. Uh withthe Philadelphia Phillies. The bullpen did their
job and Uh the Reds get amuch needed win. They snap a seven
game winning streak for the Philadelphia Phillies. It was nice to see Sam Mule
come in and get an opportunity tofinish things out. I forgot, And
(11:05):
they showed this on the TV broadcastlast night that he has a streak of
nineteen consecutive scoreless innings going into lastnight. He got it to twenty.
So congratulations to Sam mull for that. And we have some also some news
in involving the Reds bullpen, andcertainly close to my heart, Ian Jabbou,
don't you know, has come backto Cincinnati, as we know,
(11:28):
to get something cleaned up with hisarm or his elbow, whatever exactly the
injury was. He is now backto Louisville to continue a or restart i
should say, his rehab stints. So that seems to be good news.
They did the same thing for SamMule and he was here a couple of
weeks later, so Ian Jebou probablywon't be long until he's here as well.
But you're right about Fernando cruz Man. He is rapidly becoming one of
(11:52):
my favorite Reds. Just the intensitythat he has on the mound just fired
up. I love those guys thatget so excited to pity that after each
pitch the like walk halfway to homeplate, like give me the ball,
Give me the ball, give meHe's one of those dudes like as soon
as he gets them mount he's drippingin sway. I love guys like that.
We'll get more into that because hewas with Jim Day after the game
(12:13):
talking about his splitter being a giftfrom God, and how about Austin.
At that same moment, tj Antonewas up in the booth. Oh,
I didn't hear any of that.He called it. He said he's got
a split finger that he's gonna throwhere and Trey Turner's gonna go after it.
Okay, called his shot there, you go, unbelievable. We'll talk
about that. You'll hear maybe tjAntone has a calling in the booth.
(12:37):
You'll hear more from that. Othernews around Major League Baseball today, Austin
for the first time batting leadoff sincetwenty twenty, Mike Trout hits a leadoff
home run crushed. Not bad, first time he's hit a leadoff homer since
twenty twelve. Yeah, you know, teams sputtering a little bit, why
(13:01):
not throw Mike Trout your best playerat the top of the lineup and a
five game losing skit Ron Washington. He just gets it. There you go.
How about Johnny believe? I can'tbelieve the Reds let Mike Trout leave
town? Yep, I agree?I mean, what are we doing?
David or Nick? I agree?Come on? Johnny Cuato signs with the
(13:22):
Texas Rangers. Maybe my favorite baseballplayer ever. Speaking of the Rangers,
besides Griffy, what's bigger pitching news? Sures are making a rehab starting triple
A for the Rangers or them signingJohnny Cuato? Uh? Probably Cuato?
Okay, yeah, Uh, sure'sthere ever pitch anymore? No, that
dude's hurt all the time too. Some news to the Cincinnati Reds. The
(13:43):
closer for the Diamondbacks, Merril Kelly, come on, Mare, will be
sidelined for a month. Again, not bad timing for the Cincinnati Reds.
Out say that we hope the bestfor Meryl Kelly and his return. Reds
do play the d Backs six timesover the next three weeks, so they
will be playing them all those gameswithout Merrill Kelly certainly will help the Reds.
(14:05):
Odds certainly late in games. I'mjust gonna keep saying. Certainly,
something else to watch. Saint LouisCardinal outfielder Jordan Walker, one of the
prize prospects right in Major League Baseball, six' six, he has been
sent to the miners. Oh twentyone years old. He's batting just one
fifty five with no home runs thisseason, A former top prospect in baseball.
(14:30):
In a three for twenty seven slump, he goes to triple A.
Do you know his middle name? No? Jordan Walker? No mal Wow?
How about that? Other news?Last night, the Minnesota Timberwolves dominate
the Phoenix Suns. I have onequestion, Austin, Okay. Is Kevin
Durant average? No, he's great. Would you put him on the list
(14:54):
of great? Yes? I thinkhe's a shade under the greats of all
time right now in the game, right now, maybe not right now in
the game. I don't put himon the top. What makes you say
that about? Like what happened lastnight that makes you say that he was
awful? You know, he thegame before Anthony Edwards straight up punked him,
(15:16):
called him out, chirping back andforth. And I'm thinking last night,
all right, we're gonna see vintageKD. Kevin Durant last night was
six to fifteen. He only shottwo threes all night, and in forty
one minutes he had eighteen points andwas a minus twenty four and a plus
minus differential. That's not good.I think the the ant man started off
slow as well, right like hewas like one for nine to start,
(15:37):
Yeah, but then all of asudden. But for them, man,
they got every starter in double figures. How big of a disappointment had the
Suns been with Bradley Beal, DevinBooker, and Kevin Durant. Yeah,
very disappointing. They're down. Imean, that's the life of being the
coach by Frank Vogel. Yeah, they're down oh two in their series.
(15:58):
Frank Vocal used to coach the Pacers. Pacers went to Milwaukee last night behind
thirty seven and eleven from Pascal Siakamwith who Siakam? Pacers beat the Bucks
and in a game that made mestay up until one o'clock in the morning
because it was so entertaining. TheMavericks and the Clippers went toe to toe
(16:22):
at the end too much, LucaMavericks win. They're a high scoring team.
They found a way to win agame last night where they scored ninety
six and as good as Luca wason offense, Austin, I've never seen
him defend like he did last night. Kyrie Irving remains one of the most
underrated ball handlers and shot makers inthe basketball world. He's one of the
(16:44):
most entertaining players. So fun towatch. Clippers have like this, this
build up of former great players Jameshard and Paul George Russell Westbrook, Kawhi
Leonard was back last night. They'rea fun team to watch. But a
good win for the Mavericks Miami Bostontonight. What series like, what would
be the ideal finals matchup for you? To me? I think it would
(17:07):
be Minnesota the timber Wolves against theKnicks. Boy, that'd be fun.
That would be awesome. That environmentlast night in Minneapolis, yep, was
unreal right now. And then obviouslyMadison Square Garden and what it would mean
to the Knicks, that would beawesome. You know, a couple weeks
ago at karl Anton, Town's gothurt all of a sudden, Austin,
(17:27):
You've got to line up with Edward'splaying is one of the best in the
game, and you've got go bearin Towns on the floor at the same
time. Yeah, that's a reallygood lineup, something to watch. I
love the way Minnesota's playing right now. The hard thing is like when I
look at the East. For me, it's like, it's who can beat
(17:52):
Boston in a seven game series.I don't trust Cleveland, Orlando, Milwaukee
without Giannis, Indiana or I reallydon't try us Philly at this point.
Who can give Boston a run?The Western Conference is loaded? Oklahoma City
is fun. I don't know whobeats Denver in a seven game set,
but we have the possibility. Austin, how fun would this be? Both
(18:14):
are up two zero in their series, Minnesota VARs Denver in the second round
of the West and the winner ofthat Clippers mav series against probably Oklahoma City.
NBA playoffs are already delivering some bigmoments that should be fun. By
the way, a couple of locksof the Night hit last night, Tyrese
Maxi wins the NBA Most Improved Player. MO gave you that preseason at fourteen
(18:38):
hundred, and I believe he alsogave you the MAVs last night getting one
and a half. Yeah, Idon't remember what exactly you had to know.
You had one and a half withthe Eagles in September. Yes,
yes, anybody anything else hit foryou? No, Kevin Durant failed me
that Bukay All right, you didsay anybody can get it today? Hey,
(19:00):
speaking of anyone getting it, ReggieBush got his Heisman trophy back.
Segue, shout out, shout out. Reggie Bush got his Heisman trophy back.
Other quick news, the Steelers arenot going to pick up Justin Field's
option, No big surprise there. And some college basketball news Big East Big
(19:21):
Twelve matchup pairings for next season.Xavier will go to TCU. You see,
we'll go to Villanova next year.Oh, okay to uh local college
basketball matchups announced yesterday. That's allI got for segment one. And what
a segment it's been. It's prettygood. More on the Reds, but
first year phone calls five, one, three, seven, fifteen. You
(19:44):
think Lewis Ridick listened that first segment, like, man, I can't wait
to be on this show today.Probably yep, figured it out. Yeah,
from what I've been told. Yeah, they have us playing through the
halls of Bristol CONNECTICU. Yep,so I guess the setup crew for the
draft and Detroit has been listening aswell. Absolutely so that's just That's what
I'm told. What a time forthe Lions today. They're getting ready to
(20:07):
host the draft and they just lockedup their best receiver and gave him seventy
seven million guaranteed. We got toget a break in thanks to our friends
at Skyline Chili. This is CINYthree sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Station. Now your chance to winone thousand dollars entered this nationwide keyword on
our website. Money, that's money. Enter it now. Hey, Alexa,
(20:32):
what's going on in the fifteen thirtyCruz Ready? The O one swung
on, lifted in the air tocenter right at fair Child, He backs
up, leaps and makes the catso the inning is over. Three straight
walk started the inning. The Philliesloaded him with nobody out and get nothing
(20:56):
zilch, zero, nothing, nadaZip. Fernando Cruz. Gift from God
is the split finger? Do youhave anything that is a gift from God?
From a talent used to be myright arm? I'd say it's my
brain? Is it? Uh?I mean it works in different ways?
(21:21):
Well, it certainly does, worksa mysterious way. Oh all right,
we got a Reds game. Torecap. We went a little long in
segment one. Let's get ourselves backon the clock and take a couple of
calls here before we break and breakdown more of that Reds game and what's
next? Come on, Mark, what's up? Hey? You know I
got what I was looking for lastnight. You know they're not gonna get
(21:45):
swept by the Philly. They wonone of the games, so that mean
to win alms dance. So asTony Pipen say, signed me up,
sign me up? Yeah, okay, Now, if they can win one
more game and split with the Philly, yes, then that's a that's a
five, that's a five and twohome stand. We sign enough for that
man with the start of what theschedule is going to be. Absolutely yeah.
(22:08):
Yeah. So that's my formula.Sweep the bad teams and don't get
swept. I love it by thebetter teams. He had got it.
I wanted to make a pitching point. Here's my take on pitching this overall.
If a pitcher can give me seveninnings in three runs or less,
I'll take that. I'll sign upfor that five. Give me five Bronson
(22:32):
ar Royals, Oh you know, yeah, give me five of him because
he was the type of picture hewas gonna get seven innings out of him,
and you were he would probably giveup three runs sometimes for but if
you got a good lineup you canmake you can. You're still in the
game, you know. So giveme that and give me a shut down
bullpen. So you to me,in my opinion, when you're building a
(22:56):
baseball team, you just need goodpictures. You don't need you don't need
a great pitcher on you. Youjust need a shutdown bullpen case point example.
I mean, I go all theway back to the seventies when the
Reds had those great teams. TheNew York Mets had Tom sever John mad
(23:18):
Back and Jerry Kuzman. They allcould have been a number one on anybody's
staff that they didn't have a lineupthe Reds pitching staff, nobody on their
staff. Don Guller was the bestpicture on their staff, but he wouldn't
have been a number one on nobodyelse's staff. So, especially in today's
baseball when starters just aren't going verydeep into games anymore. Yeah, so
(23:41):
give me three runs a left orless and I'll take that and then let
me make a let me make aBengals question a point and then I'll get
off. I want to see atack. I want to see a right
tackle because I just don't believe youcan keep on going in the free agency
doing them one year deals every yearknowing that. So I want to see
a white tackle. And I wantto see a guard in this draft that
(24:03):
can. That's an upgrade over cordAale Bolts. Yeah, I think I
think they need to upgrade that position. So let me get off and hear
your opinion about that, love Mark, I appreciate that. Thank you.
We will we'll dive more into theNFL draft. Here and our number two,
Austin in this studio right here, there's a there's a quote that says,
everybody usually picks somebody. Yeah, you made that quote on March twenty
(24:26):
first of this year. Do youthink somewhere in the clubhouse a great American
Ballpark that there's a quote that says, sweep the bad teams don't get swept
by the good ones. I wouldimagine because if the Reds live by that,
we're gonna have a good year.Sweep the bad ones don't get swept
by the good ones. Mantra tolive by I love it always. Jeff,
(24:51):
what's up man? How are youhappy Wednesday? Guys? Quick note
from Mark there was a young NolanRyan on that Mets pitching staff just in
case and for good. So Igot the Otani experience last night, full
blast. Half the stadium was wasAsian people, but the people that follow
him around are just crazy. Hehit and he hit Ellie full blast to
(25:17):
right center field too. It'll beinteresting. I'm going to see him in
Toronto this weekend too. So andyou know, worried bats in the Dodgers
lineup second. Yeah, I wonderwhy that is. It is uh,
you know it's It's most likely becausethey want to give him more at bats.
(25:41):
And it's also because they allow FreddyFreeman and Mookie Betts to protect him
and no offense to Andy Pages. But they're not letting Andy Pages hit behind
shoe Otani to protect him. No, not at all, not at all.
So thanks for that lineup for tomorrownight. I'll probably be in a
(26:02):
bar in Toronto at the beginning andthen be back in my hotel room when
Chicks spontaneously combusts right next to Austin. No matter who we pick now,
I need your guys opinion on something. You think people would laugh at me
if I wore my reds Vado jerseyinto the Rogers Center Friday night. That's
a good question with with sports teams. I don't think so. I don't
(26:23):
think there's anything wrong with that.Okay, I'm gonna pack it. I
just don't know if I'm gonna doit. And while we're on the baseball
thing, you know who's also abouttwo weeks away from getting sent down to
the miners again before Ellie gets sentdown to the miners, who's that?
Jackson Holiday? Yeah, he's man. You want to talk about somebody struggling
(26:44):
to start their career. I believeJackson Holiday right now has one hit since
being called up. I'm believe eighteenthirty four at that. He got his
second hit last night. I thinkzero five to nine is Jackson Holiday right
now. Yeah. Yeah, Soall the people wishing bad on Ellie,
let's just stick with them and realquick on the draft shout out to James
(27:08):
on the podcast either last night orthis morning something like. In the last
five or six years, all firstand second round picks for the Bengals have
been CFP teams except for Cam TaylorBritt from Nebraska. Yeah, they've been
a lot of that mold with playoffteams with team captains, and very interesting
if they followed that mold tomorrow nightand the rest of the draft as well.
(27:32):
Jeff, have a great one, man, Thanks for the call.
Yeah, you guys be good. Now I have to go back on that.
I don't know. Oh, Tony, we have breaking the Bengals wide
receiver news. Okay, the Bengalstoday have exercised the fifth year option on
(27:56):
wide receiver Jamar Chase. Oh,this was an absolute, unequivocal, no
brainer decision. This is not breakingnew, but the Bengals today exercise the
team option to expend extended by oneyear, the contract of wide receiver Jamar
Chase. He is now signed throughthe twenty twenty five season. This was
(28:17):
basically a formality, but something weexpected to happen before the start of the
season. It happens today. JamarChase has had his fifth year option exercised
by the Cincinnati Bengals. Tone backto you, very very cool. Good
job from not can I one commenton the whole I feel like I misspoke
(28:37):
with Jeff there, because there's alot of times if I'm at a Reger
Bengals game and someone's wearing like aPittsburgh Steeler jersey, I'm like, why
is this guy here? Right, that's essentially gonna be what Jeff is.
Well, but it's different because whyis that any different than the Bengals and
the picket team the Chargers playing agame and people wearing a Ben Rolt Marker
(29:00):
jersey to the game. Because itis a player that currently plays for the
Blue Jays. So it is acurrent player on one of the two teams,
and it is among the two thatparticular player is one of the two
greatest players that's ever played baseball fromCanada. Okay, Also a red's jersey,
(29:21):
assuming it's red. Maybe it's thered alternate, maybe it's white.
Either way, Canadian flag colors. The Blue Jays have red in their uniforms.
If it's a player on that team, it's okay, Yeah, I
don't think that's a problem. Okay, you know, I mean it's like,
(29:41):
let's try to think of who's agood example. You know, it
would have been like last year goingto a Panthers Packers game wearing a Von
Bell jersey. Okay, right,is that kind of fair. I guess
that that eases it a little bitfor me. Okay, that's fair.
I also don't have a problem withyou wearing whatever team you support to any
(30:04):
of the any event. I don'thave a problem with that. Okay,
let's take a break, let's comeback. Guys are soft. I'll get
back on track with the Cincinnati RedLegs ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
Thanks to our friends at Skyline Chile. What's going on in Baseball?
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.Hey, welcome back since he three to
(30:29):
sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty, CincinnatiSports Station, a service of Skyline Chile.
If you missed the announcement early inthe show, So Lucky Today,
So Excited. Lewis Riddick is goingto join us at one twenty on a
jam packed schedule for him both todaytomorrow all weekend for the NFL Draft.
Very few out there whose opinion Ithink carries more weight during this time of
(30:52):
the year than what Lewis Riddick isable to share. So we'll be joined
by him at one twenty. Wegot time for still your phone calls five
one, three thirty and talkbacks we'llstart at two o'clock today, so plan
accordingly for that. Reds As mentionedearlier winners last night in the tune of
eight till one a little bit, well, go ahead and said a little
(31:15):
bit of the Sincy three to sixtyeffect. We talked about the lineup,
We talked about Santiago Espinal, wetalked about Ces and protecting Elie de la
Cruz. Well, last night theydelivered. Ces had himself three hits on
the night, scored two runs, also drove in three. He drove in
the Reds first. I'm sorry, drove in too. Drove in the Reds
(31:37):
first two runs in the first andthe third. Also scored on an air
in the third inning. Espinal addedtwo RBIs. Elie de la Cruz also
added two RBIs. So you geta three hit night from Ces, a
three hit night from Espinal. WillBenson jumped in on the hit parade,
Tyler Stevenson jumped in on the hipparade, and Ellie dayla Cruz rus As
(32:00):
mentioned a opposite field, not justsneaking down the line left center, no
doubter, and that's Ellie from theleft side of the plate. That's not
easy to do to possess that powerif we bring up the pace right now
for Ellie de la Cruz. JoeDaniman tweeted this out after the game last
(32:22):
night. Ellie de la Cruz ison pace for forty nine home runs,
eighty five stolen bases, one hundredand twenty RBIs, and one hundred and
fifty five runs scored. Forty ninehome runs, eighty five stolen bases,
one hundred and twenty RBIs, andone hundred and fifty five runs. I
get that that pace can't be keptup. My goodness, Ellie is playing
(32:42):
at an unbelievable level. Andrew Abbottgave up the run of the first inning,
calm down four and a third thoughjust two hits, one run,
three strikeouts, but he walked four, including three straight to start the fifth
inning. That's where Fernando Cruz camein with the bases loaded and one out,
induced to strikeout, induced to lineout to center, and from that
(33:07):
point Pegan Farmer mal All combined toshut down the Philadelphia Phillies an eight to
one win for the Cincinnati Reds.Let's start with this. The mentioned Fernando
Cruz coming into the game. TJAntone, who talked about a lot this
year. He battles back, hegoes through another setback. He jumped in
(33:30):
the booth last night and listened tothis piece of commentary as he's outlining a
two strike count with the bases loadedand one out on Trey Turner. And
here's what t j antone had tosay. Does he set him up with
the split? Now, it's agiven Trey Turner knows he's coming right here,
and he'll still swing at it.Swinging a mess at the split?
(33:57):
How about that? How about TonyRomo himself, t j Antine calling his
shot on the split finger, basesloaded, two strike count, Trey Turner
knows it's coming, still gonna swingat it. That's how filthy that the
Fernando Cruz splitter is. Speaking ofFernando Cruz, it's not often Austin that
(34:22):
after a game, as the team'scoming off the field, that Jim Day
is going to grab a reliever totalk. Especially you think Espinal had a
big game, Ellie had another biggame, Cees, but no, the
moment when Fernando Cruz came into thegame, And if you look at the
time and the place of when thathappened, the top of the fifth inning.
(34:44):
Yes, it's five to one,but it's bases loaded, no outs
for the Philadelphia Phillies, the gamestill very much in the balance. Cruz
comes in and gets the strikeout, gets a line out, and here he
is with Jim day after the game. Are these moments that you kind of
live for? Yeah, I mean, I'm always about big moments and uh
oh, the glory to talk.My Lord, give me the opportunity to
(35:07):
be in this situation this year andman, helping the team win in this
situation means the world for me andall around me. Now, are you
able to get out of that situation? Bases loaded, one out, you
retire both batters? You face.I mean, it's just about watching the
game, paying attention to details, paying attention to my pitches, and leave
it to the strongest of my pitches. And uh you saw those guys swinging
(35:32):
on the slider going away from them. I execute them. And then I
went to my best pitch and Iexecuted him. The cutter is one of
the best pitches at all of baseball. Right now, you say it's a
gift from God. I love thatyou say that. Do you feel like
it's the best that you've ever thrownin your life right now, Yes,
for sure, one hundred percent. When you face big league hitters and those
(35:54):
kind of names out out there andyou make them like miss the ball like
that, my splitter is the splitter. It's just a gift from God.
I mean, I don't know.I don't even know how to explain.
They don't even know how to explain. I mean, it's it's a bitch
that that has a lot of debtand and got hitters going around a little
(36:14):
earlier than then then they expect, all right, So there's a there's cruse.
Hey, when you got it likethat, you call it right Austin
to gift from God period. BluesBrothers once said they're on a mission from
God. Cruz has the split fingerfrom from God. That pretty much puts
a bow on the Reds from lastnight. I think he was talking about
(36:36):
talk back God or that's a goodquestion referred to God when it comes to
like religions. That's a great point. I don't know. Tonight Spencer Turnbull,
that's a right handed pitcher. TheReds get the face Tonight turnbulls U
two and oh with a one twothree E R A you got nothing right
now on Nick Lodolo Nicky ball game. This one, this is the one
(36:58):
you gotta get. YEP two andOh points seve Era Zach why tomorrow?
Yes, because Zach Wheeler tomorrow versusNick Martinez. Big opportunity for Nicolodoloh to
continue this great start to his season. This team has hit better against right
handed starting pitching. That's a fact. There was news yesterday that that some
of these guys that are sick arestarting to get better. So a lot
(37:20):
will be put on hopefully today whenMoeger joins us that we can go through
another Reds lineup. That's what's nextfor the Reds. What's next for us.
We'll finish off some of these phonecalls and our number one when we
get back. Since he three tosixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,

name you need to know. WithTyler Boyd hitting free agency, the Bengals
(38:06):
could use this year's draft to finda replacement in the slot. One player
who could fill that role as Michiganwide out Roman Wilson. Wilson led last
year's National champions in receiving, andhe was a second team All Big Ten
player for the Wolverines. Wilson isa sure handed pass catcher. He only
had one drop in sixty seven targetslast season, and he can be explosive,
with more than a third of hiscatches going for more than twenty yards.
(38:29):
He also had twelve touchdown receptions lastseason. He does have what scouts
call a smallish frame, and giventhat he played almost entirely in the slot
in college, there's likely a limitas to how he can be used.
Still, Wilson has a combination ofspeed and reliability with his hands that make
him an intriguing prospect. Keep aneye on Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson has

(39:22):
Did this just make you want tomove? He it does, it does.
Thank you to our friends at SkylineChiley. Speaking of moving Austin,
how about in the seventh inning lastnight that the pop up that Elie de
la Cruz essentially caught like in leftfield? Isn't that crazy? I mean
that he was. He was closerI feel like to the home run fence
(39:45):
than he was to third base whenhe caught it. It was officially listed
as a flyout to shortstop. Yeahit was. I mean he was.
I just saw ready it looked likehe was closer to the wall than he
was to third base and made itlook effortless. So good. We are
talking Bengals in hour two and speakingof Bengals and this time of the year,
(40:07):
Austin, you know, we geta lot of uh, mock drafts.
We get a lot of big boardsthat are out there, you know
what I mean, everyone has anopinion. Moegor even thought about doing a
mock draft. I don't know ifhe ever did it, but he was
thinking about it. H But thereis a big board in a basement of
our president of talkbacks. He's callingin right now, Johnny. What's going
(40:30):
on? Happy dump dated both ofyou? Who John who? Day?
Uh? Yeah? Big boards up? Uh really took a lot of all
of what three hours to make. You'd be surprised how long it takes to
write names of the dry erase board. He keep the racing thing by accident,
(40:52):
and honestly, if he's been drinkingtoo, it's a little suffer there.
Well, the spelling lot of spoton. You've all so god You've
You've also color coordinated your board aswell. Correct, So if you see
red on the President's big board, that's a no no. I do not
want the Bengals. I do notwant Roger Godell to say that name in
(41:14):
the eighteenth thick, the Cincinnati Bengals. Now there's some controversy to that because
I have brock Bowers in red andTony I'm pretty sure you you would run
to the podium. It's not thatI don't like brock Bowers. I just
see that the Bengals added Mike Koseiki, they resigned Taymer Hudson, and they
(41:37):
also designed Drew Sample and they arean offense that is wide receiver based first
and then tight end. And Imuch rather have an offensive tackle in that
pick that will be behind Trent Brownbecause we know Trent Brown is injury prone.
Correct, yes, we so Iwant someone that can be warning.
(42:00):
So even if it's someone like Nims, you know that needs to develop,
they can develop behind Trent Brown andits duty calls. They can step up
and play. But I also thinkthis draft is very heavy offensive tackles only
first round. You're not gonna finda good guy second or third or fourth.
So as much as I like adefensive tackle, I like a wide
(42:22):
receiver, they have to go offensivetackle first round, no question. Now,
on your big board, number eighteen, where the Bengals slot in,
you have Jared Verse, who's anedge rusher, but you also have his
name in red. Do you notwant to see the Bengals address edge rusher.
I do not believe edge rusher isa position of need. I mean,
(42:44):
you have we just got Miles Murphylast year. You have Joseph Aside
that apparently lou Anarumo thinks is aboutto make a turn for the better.
You have all these. You havea good amount of ass rushers. That
is a position of absolute depth rightnow in the Bengals. You know,
whether they performed to what they're supposedto this year, totally different stories,
(43:06):
but no defensive tackles, the neednot edge Russer, John, what's of
these guys on your big board primarilyin that second half there? Do you
think the Bengals could potentially or shouldbe targeting in their second round selection.
I think the Bengals are absolutely lookingfor a wide receiver in the second round,
one hundred percent. I hope theyhope that one of the higher ones
(43:27):
falls to them. But I havea feeling, and this is I just
have a feeling that there's gonna besomeone that falls down into the second round
that they were not expecting. Whetherthat is a cornerback, whether that's a
defensive tackle, there's gonna be someonethat falls And I actually would not be
surprised if they traded up a couplepicks to get there. You think of
(43:50):
Cam Taylor britt a couple of yearsago. They have the history of kind
of doing that and that's that's theonly way I see them deviating from a
wide receiver in the second round. What are your plans for the draft?
Well, finally enough, I haveI played volleyball a in a you know,
U wreck kind of team that thatnine o'clock is when my game is,
(44:13):
which I you know kind of soundsright around the time. Maybe the
Bengals are picking, so I haveI think I'm bringing my laptop to just
put up on the sideline so wecan have the draft on while we play
volleyball. Austin, I'm John.If you need to get sick, now's
the time. Yeah. Maybe youtwist an ankle fall, you know,
walking off of a curb or somethingtoday and you just can't make it tomorrow
night. Now's the time to comeup with the excuse. Austin, would
(44:35):
you say, you know what, would you say that this big board,
you know, like when March Madnesscomes out, the president will do like
his yeah, his picks and fillout his bracket. Is this is this
essentially our presidential bra I mean thisis this equates to that right here?
Yeah, this is absolutely what thatis. I'm what I'm fascinated by is
what is this whiteboard used for whenit's not draft time? Great question?
(44:59):
And does it it on that usualin your bar all year long? It
does? Actually? Austin, good, good, good question. I always
every time there's a we're doing anaway game, so we're at home,
we're not the stadium. Uh,there will always be a motivational quote.
Oh, you kind of get there. It has backfired on me so when
(45:21):
we hosted when when Cleveland hosted USWeek one last year, I put I
put fun fact the Cleveland Browns havenever won the AFC North since its inception.
That backfired on me. So Imight have to readink kind of what
I do this year? Do youever put drink recommendations on the board.
Oh, you're at the bar alreadyand I'm there. I'll give you a
(45:43):
drink. I'll make you a drinkright there. You don't need a recommendation
there, John, You do funquotes. John, before we let you
go, could you leave us withperhaps a motivational, inspirational, or fun
quote to send us to our numbertwo. I'd be happy to It's one
of my favorite quotes ever by HenryFord. Think of Ford Automobiles, the

this year? But it's the openingday crew neck. What is the official
(47:22):
definition, or I should say,the official difference between a sweater and a
sweatshirt. I think it would haveto be I think it would have to
be material right on the sweater versusthe sweatshirt. To me, has a
hoodie? No, that's not alwaysthat to me, it does that.
No, then why do they callthem hooded sweatshirts? That I wouldn't trust
(47:45):
those people. And they call crewnecks crew neck sweatshirts. Interesting. These

not ready to announce that. Wedon't have confirmation, but just stay tuned
because we may have a special announcement. Okay, we may not. Okay,
That's a little bit of a teaser, isn't it. You know what's
not a teaser? You know it'snot a tough decision what the Bengals did
today exercise the fifth year option ofone Jamar Chase good friend of the show
(48:55):
he's on with Moeger every Tuesday.Paul Danner Junior said, the exercising the
fifth year option on Jamar Chase Popprobably cracks the top five easiest decisions made
by the club this century. Iwould agree to that. No brainer,
absolute no brainer. Some of theother things going on around the National Football
(49:20):
League right now, latest buzz fromone Daniel Jeremiah has said, to summarize
his last five phone calls, everyoneis moving up tomorrow for an offensive tackle.
Now, there has already been,in my opinion, thoughts or rumblings
(49:42):
or conversations even that the Bengals shouldgo offensive tackle. And we'll have that
conversation. I'll ask Lewis Ridick aboutit when he joins us in about twelve
minutes. But I feel like theremay be a run here Austin. If
(50:06):
there's a run on quarterbacks early withteams moving up, and then there's a
run with offensive tackles. Does thatpush the Bengals to do what we've talked
about and maybe move up to makesure they secure their guy? Or do
they do what historically they probably doand and just sit there at eighteen and
wait and draft at that spot.I think right now the most likely scenario
(50:29):
is that they trade back. Wouldany movement ahead of them push them to
move up? I don't think so. I can't find a resense, but
i'd like to unless it's within maybefour picks. Okay, so eighteen to
fourteen? Yeah, okay, that'sfair. How many quarterbacks are gonna go?
(50:49):
Who's going to trade up? We'vegot NFL draft prop bets that we'll
get to in this hour Before anyof that, though, one of our
most loyal listeners and someone who hashelped us at Sincey Shirts a ton Josh
Need widely respected, widely respected, local funny man as well. I believe
(51:12):
he can help us with this wholepam Pan debate on the sweatshirt and sweater
debate. Josh, thanks for listening, Thanks for calling in. How are
you? I'm great? How areyou I'm good? I'm good. I'm
sitting here wearing an opening day crewneck sincey shirts sweater, can you help
the difference between sweatshirt and sweater.Well, a sweater is typically more of
(51:37):
a woven knit type garment, whereasa sweatshirt is the standard cotton could be
hooded or crew neck. The crewneck referring to obviously the fact that it
does not have a hood. It'snot a deep v if you will,
a term we'll use in the industry. It's just a standard sweatshirt with a
(52:00):
hood makes it a hooded sweatshirt.Sweater is typically something that's like knitted wool,
if you will, exactly, Isee sweater as professional. But if
I were to text you and sayhoodie or a sweatshirt, you wouldn't know
the difference. Do you have toadd in the crew neck or the sweatshirt
in the industry essentially mean what I'mwearing today? Yeah, what exactly is
(52:22):
a sweatshirt a hoodie? A sweatshirtis basically your your fleece. It could
be a wicking material like a dryfit moisture, or it could be it
could be a cotton poly bland.I mean, who's to say, There's
so many options available, but youwould need to clarify when you say sweatshirt.
(52:44):
Is it a standard crew neck ordoes it have a hood? Both
of those are sweatshirts. Now,I was raised in a s I find
interesting because how can you have thistype of sweatshirt in this type of sweatshirt
but no actual sweatshirt? Yeah, what is a sweatshirt exactly? That's why.
That's why it's to figure out it'sa thick outer where it's not even
really an official term. It's youknow, the weight of the garment determines
(53:09):
how if it's a sweatshirt or aT shirt. It's all cotton, you
know, when it's caught. Therecould be a hat, it could be
pants. I mean, who's tosay true? A swhir is just a
typical common a working man, alayman's term, something that you would wear
in the in the winter or fallmonths to keep warms. I was raised
(53:31):
in a household that just called themhoodies, you know. So this this
sweatshirt via crew neck sweatshirt via deepv sweatshirt via hoodie just all very confusing
to me. I'm just a simpleman from Ready, though, so I
understand that that there could be adifference. Josh, can can you let
me know? As I know youare, you are all things Cincinnati Sports.
(53:55):
Who do you think the Bengals shoulddraft at number eighteen? I'm going
O line is the first choice.I think keeping Joe Burrow up right is
the paramount to any success for thisteam. And then after that the line
potentially a wide receiver if you can'twork out of trade for Tea. I
(54:15):
loved Austin's theory yesterday. If theythey they would never take it. If
if the Cardinals traded for the firstround pick swap and and T Higgins,
that would be insane. But that'snever gonna happen. Also, what are
you guys doing during some of theseBengals games with Cincy shirts that your you're
(54:36):
live streaming, You're doing some somepromotional codes? What's going on with that?
Oh? With the Reds games.Yes, we're trying out a new
thing called middle relief. Just toetoday to get online and hang out with
folks while they watched the middle partof some of the Reds games on Tuesday
nights. Uh. You know, back in the COVID times, Danny Graves
(54:58):
and I did a little thing forsports where we had a stream going on,
giving away prizes, doing some triviawhile people watch the Reds game.
So we thought we might try tobring a little something like that back and
just engage with folks while we watchedthis what we hope to be a fantastic
Red season. Fantastic stuff. Josh, You're awesome one. Thanks for listening,
(55:20):
Thanks for helping out with Sincy threesixty, and thanks for settling that
dispute. And really I'm I'm unfortunatelyleaving this conversation just as confused as I
started it. Thanks Josh, I'malways happy to help boys. Thank you
for all that you do. Yes, thank you, Josh need Thanks Josh
local funny man and have it Sincythree to sixty listener. Yes, I
(55:42):
love that, as is our buddyDJ train Oh who shot me a message
and says he's going to be DJingat the Reds game a month from tonight.
So that was the announcement. Evenno, that's not the announcement,
but it is a announcement. That'sa bit. That's that's another reason to
come. My goodness, trained kicks. Ass. Things are just moving and
aligning today in such a good way. It's like the eclipse all over it.
(56:05):
And when we get back, we'rehoping that things align the way we
were told, which means Lewis Riddickwill be joining us when we get back,
and we'll talk all things draft fromthe Bengals standpoint and from the draft
itself. It's Sincy three to sixtyright here on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Station, thanks to our friends atCincy Shirts now gambling. No one covers
(56:27):
the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati'sSports station. All right, welcome back.
It's since he three to sixty ESPNfifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks
to our friends at Cincy's Shirts.Let's get right into it. He is
one of the most well respected voicesin the National Football League, in the
(56:51):
industry in itself, NFL college footballanalyst across ESPN, ABC, doing so
much for the game of football. And he's been so great with his time
today to give us a couple ofminutes on such a hectic week across the
National Football League. It is LewisRiddick joining us right now. Lewis,
what's going on, man? Howare you I'm good. I'm good.
How are you doing I'm great,I'm great. Look, thank you for
(57:14):
taking time. I know that it'sa busy week and as we get into
tomorrow, there's up to six quarterbacksthat could be drafted in the first round
of the NFL Draft. There's talkthat there's movement for offensive line that could
happen. When you envision tomorrow night, how much movement, how much chaos
do you think does ensue? Yeah, I think it'll be significant. I
(57:37):
mean realistically, I mean, whoknows what Washington actually is thinking. Although
conventional wisdom would he believed that theywould take the quarterback, and the quarterback
they would take is Jaden Daniels. But I think anything is open to you
know, potential chaos. Chaos asyou put it, and that's exactly how
I would put it too, especiallyif they decide, hey, look,
(57:57):
you know what, maybe there's anotherquarter that we like, and we will
see we will roll the dice, you know, and move down a little
bit and pick up some more picks, build out our football teams, still
get a quarterback that we like, let somebody else come back up here into
that spot that that would absolutely justset off a bunch of fireworks. Then
be interesting to see what obviously whatNew England does it. Three And then
(58:20):
when Arizona does it four. Ithink those those two spots look obviously outside
of the top pick, which weall believe will be Caleb Williams. I
think anything and everything is on thetable because of the fact that we don't
know exactly how these guys. Theseteams like the quarterbacks and in what order,
and we don't know if they arecomfortable taking the quarterbacks that they like
at the positions that they're in.So that means and we know this.
(58:44):
We know teams like Minnesota, andwe know teams like the Las Vegas Raiders
like some of these quarterbacks and theyare desperate to get one of them and
would love to move up. Now. I don't know if they have the
capital to do it, but we'llsee. That's what makes it all interesting.
When you look at eighteen the Bengalsright now, a lot of eyes
here, obviously in Cincinnati. Tacklemakes a lot of sense, Interior defensive
(59:06):
lineman makes a lot of sense. Some are saying wide receiver. There's even
been a run here as of latethat corner could be an option for the
Cincinnati Bengals without diving into the playeritself. If you're the Bengals and you
know what this roster is made upof what position makes the most sense at
eighteen Yeah, that's a great question. I think here the one even though
(59:29):
it seems like this is you know, the cop out answer, but it's
the honest answer. The board hasto talk to you right there. Cokay,
So look those three positions. Ifyou look at defensive tackle, off
as a tackle, cornerback. Youknow, for me and my training in
my year is the question is this, of those three positions, is there
someone who is sticking out that presentsobvious value or if there are three similarly
(59:51):
graded players at those across those threepositions, what position do you prioritize the
most? What position is most criticalto you in terms of the overall twenty
two men, you know, twentytwo positions on a football team outside of
the specialists. So if you saycornerback is the number one priority, and
given what Cincinnati struggled with last yearwith explosive played down the field, then
(01:00:13):
maybe corner is the move. Ifyou feel as though, hey, look
we still aren't good enough on theedges that offensive tackle, despite you know,
signing Trent having Orlando, we stillneed to like kind of shore up
that pass block when right, thenmaybe tackle is the is the way you
go. You know, they needinto your pass rush to help Sam and
Tray out on the edges. Soyou know, if Byron Murphy is sitting
(01:00:34):
there or Darius Robins, well he'llbe there too. You go, hey,
maybe we go with one of those. It makes it fascinating to them.
What would I do? Look,I believe did you build your football
team inside out and you build itfront to back? And I'm sure Lou
would say, hey, look, maybe if we had more juice, especially
in the middle, to help outour edge Russians, maybe some of that
explosive play component would be alleviated.Would you know that would come down?
(01:01:00):
So if you believe that a guylike Byron Murphy could be just one hell
of a three pass rushing three techniqueand he's sitting there, maybe that's the
move you go to. Although thereare some fantastic corners in this draft that
can play the style of man theman coverage that Lou loves, and there'll
be some there'll be some tackle valueas well, But so that I mean,
(01:01:21):
since he has a number of differentdirections it can go. I would
opt for the defensive tackle, thoughyou mentioned defensive tackle. You look at
offensive line, especially in the firstround, there's a lot of different names
out there, a lot of corners, a lot of wide receivers. But
when you look at that interior partof the defensive line, it's Byron Murphy
and then it's a sizeable gap untilthe next one. What is it about
(01:01:43):
Byron Murphy that makes him stand outmuch more than what the other players at
that position in this draft are. It's third down value. It's the ability
to get on the edge of theguard and really create havoc in the A
and B gap, really get upfield, push the pocket, not allow
quarterbacks to step up. And Idon't mean push the pocket just with power.
I'm saying I just push the pocketwith disruptiveness, whether that be using
(01:02:07):
finess and speed or just trying togo ahead and use power. He has
that kind of lateral quickness, firststep quickness that can really affect your football
team in a positive way when itcomes to pass rush. And again,
it all has a trickle down effect, right I know. You know one
of the things that people hate themost is when the ball gets thrown over
your head and you give up explosiveplays in the passing game. Well,
(01:02:30):
one of the ways again to alleviatethat is limit the amount of time that
quarterbacks have to start with football, and you got to get pass rushers,
and they need somebody on the inside. They don't have anybody that can do
that. I'm in around Saint Browngets seventy seven million guaranteed today from the
Lions. I'm sure T Higgins camphas perked up because of that, knowing
the situation in Cincinnati, trying tomake this one last run with Jamar Chase
(01:02:53):
and T Higgins and they've added somereally good pieces around that. In a
Mikeasecki, how long do you thinktranspires before the Bengals do try to a
draft, maybe wide receiver two ofthe future come to the NFL Draft.
I think it may be within thenext seventy two hours. I mean,
I think that's where. I thinkit'll be about that long. And you
(01:03:15):
know, you have to always beplaying in the head. We know just
how deep this draft is with widereceivers, both inside and outside players,
multipositional players, and you know youhave you have all different body types that
you can get in this draft.Although I would say probably the smaller,
quicker, inside out type guys areprobably more in abundance than the traditional x's
(01:03:38):
or disease like T is. Imean, t is a prototype and that's
why he wants prototype bib Receus typemoney and deserves it. So, but
I think you'll see them address itnow because who knows what the future holds
with him and whether or not that'sultimately going to be in Cincinnati it It
probably won't be. It doesn't feellike a brock Bowers would fall if he
(01:04:00):
were to fall, why why couldyou see or if you could even see
brock Bauers falling down closer where theBengals are drafting Positional value, how people
look at it, and whether ornot they feel as though, you know,
he could impact the game, thegame relative to you know, how
these other guys could impact the gamethat right now? You know, if
(01:04:23):
you were stacking your board once you'refifty, you know that would be ahead
of him. Do they do theythink that they would have more of an
impact than those positions carry greater valuethan the tight end. Although look,
there'll be plenty of people who willsay, well, you know, Travis
KESSI begs the different, George Kittlebegs the different, you know, I
mean, so we we we understandthat. And if you if you believe
(01:04:44):
that Brock is a unique, uniqueplaymaker. I mean, this conversation comes
up surrounding the Jets all the timein mock draft scenarios about whether or not
the draft the Jets would draft himand kind of like not draft an offensive
lineman and continue to build depth there. I mean, it's it's a heck
of a discus, and I getit, but that guy, that guy
has to be like crazy unique tome, especially considering at the top of
(01:05:10):
the draft the quality of players thatyou have available when you're talking about some
of the offensive linemen, some ofthe corners, all a bunch of the
wide receivers, the tight end hasto be very very special and really just
be more maybe more of a weaponthan even a tight end, like a
true weapon. And there's many playsthat you can pull out to say,
(01:05:32):
well, Brock is one of thoseguys. So could he fall? Yeah?
Would he be someone that is?You know, the Bengals are sitting
there and there and he's falling downthere? Could It make for some interesting
discussion and some eyebrows being raised inthat draft room. Of course, it
will, of course it will. But that see then again, that's where
you also like. It comes backto the discipline. Look horizontally across your
(01:05:56):
board. If Brock is sticking outa way above everyone else in terms of
how you have everybody stacked, thenit's probably going to be an even more
heated discussion, a more in depthdiscussion. If he's parallel level to another
offensive lineman or a defensive tackle, and you know where you got to go.
You got to fortify one of thosetwo positions. It becomes the conversation
(01:06:18):
of best player available versus biggest teamneed. At that point, before I
let you go, I know yougot to run. What's the view?
How close is this Bengals team froma national level from from where you stand,
how close are they to getting backto the ultimate goal, getting back
to a Super Bowl? Is thatsomething that is in their their grasp this
coming season? In your opinion?Yeah, I mean you have to have
(01:06:41):
you have some players really really stepup and deliver, some units step up
and deliver. Offensive line. Still, they have to they have to.
They have to protect Joe better. The run game has to continue to compliment
the passing game. Defensively, youhave to get more pass Russ and limit
explosives. Now I know that you'resaying, well, damn, that sounds
(01:07:03):
like a lot considering how you know, maybe how good Baltimore is going to
continue to be, Houston's on thecommon in the south, Kansas City is
going to be there, you knowin the East. Who knows how how
good Buffalo be. But you knowthey have Josh, but they're they're in
it. They're always going to bein it because they've already tasted it and
now that it's kind of part oftheir DNA. This ain't the bangles of
(01:07:23):
yesteryear. You know, they theythey are. They have a winning culture
there and a lot of it startswith number nine, but it also kind
of ends with his availability and soand a lot of that's going to be
determined by whether or not they improvethis offensive line, get more improvement out
of it, and then whether ornot they can eliminate explosive places. Because
if you can't do that, Imean, just look at how since he
wins, since he has won, because their explosive play component has ramped up
(01:07:47):
dramatically since Joe and Jamar got there. That's how you win in the NFL,
and you also get beat when youwhen you can't prevent them. So
if they can fix those things, which in the NFL you can go from
the outhouse to the penthouse quickly, then they're right there and they always have
a shot. With Joe Burrow, anybody who's absolutely this isn't nothing new.
One of my favorite players in theleague period. Lewis, you're that You're
(01:08:11):
the best man. I know. It's a busy time. Thank you so
much for your time, Thanks forcarving this out for us, and enjoy
the weekend, man, Thank you. Take care. Yes, sir,
there he is Lewis Riddick ESPN.Uh so well respected and uh so well
spoken. There awesome, that wasawesome. Yeah, that was great stuff
from from lou Riddick. I feelkind of proven right, Yeah, there
you go. I kind of feelproven right, And you know, he
(01:08:33):
was pretty complimentary of perhaps a cornerback. Gosh, he was kind of
you know, that idea is certainlyI'm just saying, I'm just saying,
yeah, I AK one of thebiggest issues. Here's okay, do you
want to talk about it after theBreakdeah, Okay, let's let's let's break
that with Cara thought to share.Okay, we'll do that. Thank you
(01:08:56):
to Lewis Ridick for his time.Great stuff there. Uh, he will
be a state of draft covers thisweekend. We got a break. We'll
be back plenty more still to gohere and now number two, since he
three to sixty, thanks to ourfriends a't Cincy Shirts on ESPN fifteen thirty.
This is ESPN fifteen thirty and iHeartRadiostations. Welcome back. Since he
(01:09:24):
three sixty. It's ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to our
friends at Cincy Shirts. I knowAustin, you'll have that conversation with Lewis
Riddick up on the podcast page verysoon at some point. Awesome stuff from
Lewis Riddick there as it pertains tothe Bengals, the draft itself, and
what these next couple of days looklike. We kind of got into that
(01:09:46):
conversation there of something you've been hintingat, Austin, and something that the
sports books have been hinting at aswell. If you look at a lot
of the different books across the country, if you look at about a week
ago, maybe two weeks ago,you can go on a DraftKings and you
(01:10:08):
can bet the position that the Bengalswill draft. You don't have to have
the player in itself. But youlook at the position for the Bengals,
and about two weeks ago, Cornerwas I think plus fourteen hundred somewhere around
(01:10:30):
that that numbers come down to plusfive point fifty. So there is some
conversation going on about Corner and theCincinnati Bengals, and can we could talk
about all what do you believe? What don't you believe? Do you know
what? I normally believe Austin orVegas because they always are building more buildings
in Vegas, they're winning in Vegas. Something or someone has has made it
(01:10:56):
apparent that Corner could be an optionfor the Cincinnati Bengals. Here's the way
I look at it. Number One, I think everybody agrees that it's basically
an offensive tackle or Byron Murphy.I also think everyone agrees there's a chance
there's a run on offensive tackles.Byron Murphy probably won't be there, nor
(01:11:19):
will Brock Bauers. Those three guyslike top flight tackle, Murphy or Bowers
more than likely all three of themthe perfect player for where you're at or
not there. There are some reportsout there suggesting that maybe the Bengals are
looking to trade up, maybe theyfeel really strongly about one of those guys.
Okay, but and I have saidbasically this entire time, I think
(01:11:45):
you should go offensive line, dowhatever it takes to protect Joe Burrow,
and Lewis Riddicks said that as well. Here's my argument for a cornerback.
Though I can't sit up here andtell you all year, last year and
into this offseason that they have tofix the defense and they have to fix
the run stop and not also acknowledgethe fact that explosive plays were given up
(01:12:10):
in the secondary. Explosive plays throughthe ground and explosive plays through the air
are explosive plays regardless. Von Bellcoming back, you expect to impact that
in a positive way. Sheldon Rankinsbeing here, you expect to impact that
in a positive way. Dax Hilland what he ends up being, you
expect to impact that in a positiveway. Sam Hubbard being fully healthy,
(01:12:34):
you expect to impact in a positiveway. All these things are true.
But if explosives are a problem bothon the ground and through the air,
what really would be the difference ingetting the best corner you can at eighteen
and getting the best defensive tackle youcan at eighteen. I'm saying I think
(01:12:55):
Louis an Arrumo and the Bengals mightlook at it the same way. I
think they're really excited about the secondarythat they have, but they can also
look around and say, hey,we can always use more cornerbacks. Defensive
backs. That's one of those positionswhere you can never have enough of them,
and I think that's probably where someof this conversation is at. Say,
hey, the defense was bad lastyear. There were explosives everywhere.
(01:13:18):
We can shure up the back endand get better in that way. Think
about a year ago, ton,did anybody expect Miles Murphy's name to be
called? Right? No, Iespecially because Joseph Osai played good at the
end, sure, and Trey Hendricksonand all these other you know, Sam
(01:13:39):
Hubbard had had a good season. They're not gonna take a d end in
round one? What they do?They went and got it? Okay?
I uh. I'm it's at thispoint every year where you get to the
point and then you're just ready forthe draft to happen because there's so much
speculation and who can go where andwhat does this draft look like? And
(01:14:03):
and every year we get to thispoint and you find out we're going to
find out tomorrow night together where theBengals are going to go find out who
our friends are. We're going tofind out who all of our friends are.
But when you do look at thoseodds and the movement, you do
start to wonder does someone know something? Also, I don't know do we
(01:14:24):
think Vegas knows that much? Thatwas the other question. If we had
time, I would have asked,Yeah, Lewis Riddick is how much should
we actually believe? How much ofit is actually coming out of a draft
room, and how much of thatis purposeful manipulation by either a team or
(01:14:44):
an agent correct to get the nameor a direction flowing. That's what I
would like to we have that. But we mentioned earlier the reports out there,
and we led the show off withthis earlier that Daniel Jeremiah to summarize
a lot of phone calls he's beengetting, everyone's going to move up for
an offensive tackle. Add to thelist of more news and speculation. How
(01:15:08):
about Dan Graziano from ESPN Austin. He tweets out teams picking outside the top
eleven that are looking to trade upColts, Jaguars, Bengals, Rams,
Eagles. That's from Dan Graziano,So how much does he know? How
much is being league there? Buthe has the Bengals as one of five
(01:15:29):
teams listed picking outside the top elevencurrently looking to trade up. I do
I do want to just clarify thatthat was Dan hasn't tweeted that himself.
Yes, that's from an account.I haven't heard Dan say that. It's
very good chance he did. He'son a billion stations right now. Sure,
but that makes it really interesting, and that makes you think there's somebody
(01:15:51):
on the list. If you justassume that that's true, there's somebody on
the list that the Bengals think we'vegot to go up and get them.
And I've before it. I thinkthat that list of teams and what we
heard from Daniel Jeremiah earlier very wellcould be in the same boat. I
(01:16:12):
think the Rams potentially could be goingup for a quarterback. I think the
Colts and Jaggs could certainly be lookingfor wide receivers. The Eagles and Bengals,
I think would be in the samepositional boat, whether it be defensive
line offensive line, cornerback or somewhereelse. But yeah, that makes things
really interesting. And again, howmuch of it should we believe? We
(01:16:35):
oh, bump b We have talkbacksthat are going to kick off hour two.
After talkbacks, we've got a lotstill with the draft from quarterbacks going
trading up draft prop bets that youcan make general thoughts on the Cincinnati Bengals.
We'll get to that in the thirdhour when we get back. We'll
wrap up our number two with yourphone calls five one, three, seven,
four nine, fifteen thirty thanks toour friends at Cincy Shartz at Cincy

Man, I'm ready to win.Since he three to sixty, ESPN

your talkbacks to kick off the thirdhour more NFL conversation. If we need
(01:18:04):
to dig into the past, we'lltalk about, you know, what happened
on this date in Cincinnati sports historyor my history. We can get to
that. Mowager's going to stop byA lot still to happen. But as
as we finish up hour number two, let's take any more of your phone
calls. Mike is calling in.What's up? Mike, Hey, guys,
(01:18:27):
great show today, really enjoying it, Thank you, thank you.
Yeah, I got got a hospitaland uh anyway, so I'm starting to
feel better. Thanks the Lord, and I wanted to talk if you wouldn't
mind a little Reds and the draftsof course. Yeah. Absolutely incredible matchup
tonight with UH with all well andtermable. You got two guys that are
(01:18:53):
under two point zero with their combinedris. Yeah, so that spelts for
a quick be a good teaching matchup, I would think, Yeah, I
don't think you could ask any moreof what Nick Lodolo has been through two
starts. Uh. If you lookat what Spencer Turnbull has done, uh,
he's done at four innings, fiveinning, six innings, seven innings
(01:19:15):
in each of his four starts,he has approached different lengths of the game.
And I think that's gold in today'sbaseball if you get a pitcher that
can be six or seven innings strong. My goodness, three of his four
outings this year have uh have beenzero runs allowed. He gave up three
runs in his shortest out end ofthe year to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Outside
(01:19:36):
of that, he has been lightsout. Lodolo has been lights out.
It should make for a great night. And as Austin mentioned earlier, Mike,
when you look ahead to the scheduleand you see that Philly has Zach
Wheeler throwing tomorrow, it makes yetonight's game very important. Yeah, it
really does, because we were somekind of special the U. I'm a
(01:20:00):
little disappointed in the red turnouts attheir games. I hate, you know,
I don't want to criticize, butit's just their attendance is down around
twenty seconds I think in the league, and I was hoping it'd be a
little better than that with the excitementaround the new young kids and all.
But maybe it'll get better. Isure hope. So, yeah, it
(01:20:25):
is hard when you look at youknow, I grew up loving Reds baseball
and you think of like the summermonths when the Reds are in the thick
of it. The ballpark's a greatplace to be. I get with school
being in and everything going on,that the turnouts are a little low.
I just I hope that with winningcomes more people going out to the ballpark,
because the Reds and the players onthe field certainly deserve that as well.
(01:20:48):
And it's not like the teams thathave been here over the weekend are
huge draws, the Nationals and theMets, the Angels. Yeah, and
the weather has not been great likelast night. I was surprised even got
the game in. I expected thatgame to get delayed, but they played
through it. But yeah, oncesome other teams come into town and the
weather warms up and kids aren't inschool, thyough, they'll go back in
(01:21:09):
the conversation. Yeah, that's agood point, Austin, the caliber of
their opponent, Doug have a degreeof the influencers, no questions with just
Bengals draft. I listen to youguys. I learned so much because I
know a lot about baseball and basketball, but you guys are way ahead of
me in football. And I justkeep thinking with what we're speculating what the
(01:21:31):
Bengals will do. I think we'reall pretty happy with the job that's been
done by the staff right over thelast few years. So I guess we've
got to just trust in them todo the right thing and whatever it is
it is. Yeah, and Ithink I've been I've been off on a
corner. But the way that Austindescribed, if like we're hearing, there
(01:21:54):
is a run on offensive tackles, and if the Bengals aren't one of those
teams willing to move up, andassuming brock Bowers goes, assuming Byron Murphy
goes, you know, if thequestion then at eighteen is do you reach
for a tackle that maybe has alower grade or a second round grade,
or if corner is the best playeravailable, do you go and take the
(01:22:17):
best player available at corner. Ithink that would be I guess the mindset.
If there is that run on offensivetackles like it's being reported, then
then maybe that is that secondary optionto go get a secondary player in a
corner. Yeah, I'm bullish onthe corners. I'm with Austin. I
just I'm just not sold on thesecorners. I'm just not part of its
(01:22:40):
experience obviously. Is uh is whatdo they call him? Cheeto? Yes?
His nickname is he? Is hegone? Or is he back?
No, he's gone, So he'sgone. Okay, that makes a big
difference. I did hear gra Gianosay on Petros and Money yesterday out in
California, even though I'm here,I did hear Graziano say that about the
(01:23:02):
corner thing. So who's who wouldWho are the best couple of corners out
there that that you guys think areworthy of being picked out high when you
look at best available at at thecorner position. I mean it's it's Quinnon.
(01:23:23):
Mitchell from Toledo is a pretty popularout there. Terry On Arnold from
Alabama, Terry and Arnold from Alabamafrom Iowa. Yeah, kool Aid ken
Stree is another Alabama guy. NateWiggins is somebody that people think could be
there. And obviously Mike sainstrel fromfrom Michigan who is basically born in the
(01:23:44):
mold of Mike Hilton, the guythat's been linked to them a couple of
times. So so so when youget down to analyzing this, there's two
philosophy's then, right, if youget more pressure on the quarterback in this
case from up the middle, yep, or or you get better cover corners
that the whole point is to notget beat with these explosive plays, right,
(01:24:08):
yes, And so then you haveto basically choose unless you get lucky
enough to get a couple of studsat both spots. So do I understand
this correctly? That's yep. Andthen you have to diagnose I guess,
Okay, you got six AFC Northgames. You know what the AFC North
possesses. You're gonna play Denver,Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Washington, New
(01:24:28):
England, Dallas, Kansas City, the Chargers, Giants, Panthers, and
Titans on that schedule. Is itmore of a need to stop the run
and get after the passer or isit more of a need to limit explosive
plays when you're talking about the AFC. If you're in the Bengals war room,
that's what you're deciding, and thatmay sway the pick at number eighteen
(01:24:49):
if it's interior, D line orcorner if you go defensively on what position
you're going to attack, and thenmaybe even one of those corner slides into
the second round. But we're stillpretty deep into the second round with our
pick there, right, Yes,Okay, thanks you guys. I appreciate
you helping me out with that. All right, Mike, thank you man,
thanks for the call. Good stuffthere. Good conversation as how do
(01:25:13):
you view what the schedule looks like? How do you view the biggest hurdles
in the AFC. You know,Kansas City Austin last year showed itself to
be more formidable in the running gamethan in years past. Baltimore is going
to try to run the ball. The Texans go out and get Joe Mixon.
So is the value stopping the runor is the value still limiting the
explosive plays in the past game thata lot will come to the decision of
(01:25:34):
where the Bengals go from the defensiveside in the draft, where we're going
is to talkbacks to kick off ournumber three when we get back Sincy three

(01:26:41):
redone the concourse. Yeah, andyou can just walk in, grab what
you want, pay for it,and go. You don't have to like
wait in line. They've totally redonethat part of the ballpark gets so much
more efficient, and it just meansgetting your pen station a lot faster.
Yeah, I was. I wentto the Penn Station last night on Kenwood

Man, I didn't know that wasa thing. I got something Late to
that party. Yeah, I meanas in, yeah, I'm late to
(01:30:18):
that party. You are late tothe party, okay, And yeah,
I don't think we should talk aboutit. Somebody asked about the best draft
beer in Cincinnati yesterday. Yes,the answer is fifty West Main Street Amber
Ale. Go try it, You'llnever go back. Okay, you can't
(01:30:40):
go wrong with a lot of Oh, you can't go wrong with fifty West
in general? Was that the number? Al? Everything they do is good.
You ever had a burger from fiftyWest? Nope? Oh dude,
never had the Amber Ale either?Have you ever been there? Nope?
Oh you should take You should,Meredith, You, Meredith and the kids.
Oh perfect for them, kid friendly? Oh yeah absolutely. And they've
(01:31:02):
got great burgers and all this otherstuff. And we care about Penstation more
than anything else. Something that's beenall on talkbacks yesterday. I compared you
to the REDS version of his DroubilCabrera, And for that, I'm sorry.
Hand up, my bad. Helistened, he heard, and he
fixed it. Did you know that'sall mammals get goosebumps? Really do goose?
(01:31:31):
Do geese get goosebumps? They haveto. When's the last time you
had a hay Tony Hayati a setof goosebumps? Yeah? Probably this weekend
hockey hills man, I'll get hayTony Hayaudi. Yes, And celebration of
the NFL draft week, let's playa start bench cut. If you were
(01:31:55):
to get drafted, which branch ofthe military would you go into? Army?
Navy, Marines. I respect allbranches of the military enough to even
answer that question, because I'm gonnatell you this right now. What they
(01:32:15):
do fails to compare anything at thelevel that I'm on. I respect all
of them as well, but I'mnot too coward, too much of a
coward to answer the question. I'mnot tough enough to be a marine,
so I'm gonna cut them. Thisis me getting drafted. I'm not tough
enough to be a marine. Iget motion sick really easy, so I
don't think i'd fit in well theNavy. That's probably gonna be hard.
(01:32:36):
Yeah, So they'll bench them andthen I'm just gonna be I'll start the
army just as basic as it canbe, with all due respect, of
course. Sure, just yeah, put me down there with the army.
Okay, it's God. The Bengalsin the draft this weekend will go defensive
tackle, right wide receiver, tightend, offensive tackle for their first four
(01:33:00):
picks. And another nugget, didyou know that Cincinnati's uniforms ranked eighth out
of all thirty two teams. Lego, Okay, God, I mean,
if there's anyone that knows, itwould be God. I think that might
be my favorite talkback he's ever left. Man. Hello, this is former
President Ronald Regan and Whale. Inthe spirit of Red's reliever Fernando Cruz,

(01:33:46):
who got tickets to it, andthen they actually have a couple of guest
speakers. Last year was the firstyear they did it and they had Chris
Albright and Pat Noonan. But thisyear we got Matt me Asga. Oh,

Red legs looked so good last night. La Edli Cruise continues to crush in
(01:34:47):
it and mister Espadal could be changedhis name to mister Fanol because he was
filled up last night. Wow.This Thursday, man, people saying there
might be a lot of moves goingon. Our Bengals might have to move
up, do to BPA. Takethe best player available man. All right,
all right then fanoll Kevin, seeyou working began. What's up,
(01:35:10):
guys? What are the chances thatyou guys could go a whole show without
saying and you did what with who? Probably zero percent. There's no chance
that's ever gonna happen. I'm gonnasay zero breaking news. Give Mark a
quality start every single night and he'llbe okay with it. Thanks Mark.
(01:35:34):
Yeah, that was some really, that was some groundbreaking stuff from Mark there.
Every start needs to be a qualitystart and sweep the bad teams.
And we're in baby, gentlemen,I feed you're here. Shut the front
door. I think Joebel windows open. Honey, wait you open. They
got their window, and we'll keepa Super Bowl window open forever. I'm
(01:35:58):
on that who those two alms were. I'm really rooting that they pick up
another mercy because it's Lineman and thedraft. I won't say much about the
Reds. You know, they're doingpretty goold for the fact that five guys
are hitting on the Mendos the lovelyChills please. I love how he just
bailed out of the Mendoza line atthe end. Oh that's so good.
(01:36:23):
Well played. Did you know thereis another defensive lineman uh named Miles Murphy
in the draft this year? Oh? Double up? Yeah, Tony Austen.
George guy sorry on a vacation.According to Mark Speaks because he's terrible
and no one wants to hear him. Ellie dan CRUs twenty of the whole
runs, eight of the runs. He's been killing it since that two air
(01:36:44):
game. Fernando Cruz Anton was callinghim the fireman Massid. I love that.
That's what his nickname should be.I'm that splitter at seventy five miss
rate and with Ladolo on the mountatonight, man, I think it's it's
an easy spead. I think wewin this game tonight and hopefully we can
go for the series win on Thursday. Go Red, Oh George, thank
you, Good luck with your diet. More breaking news with the NFL,
(01:37:09):
and more breaking news with the DetroitLions. The Lions have agreed to a
four year, one hundred and twelvemillion dollar extension goodness with Penae Seool.
My goodness, he is the newhighest paid offensive lineman in the National Football
League. That deal includes eighty fivemillion guaranteed to Pine Sool so Today alone,
(01:37:31):
the Lions have guaranteed seventy seven millionto Amen Ross Saint Brown and eighty
five million to Penee Sool Boy Detroitgetting it done. Hey, George,
again, sorry for the double debso that TJ and Tone call on Fernando
Cruz. He said, Trey Turnerknows the splitter's coming and he can't do
(01:37:53):
anything about it. He called himself, that's my best turning ro mode.
Pressure is what do you call that? That was great, good stuff.
Okay, thanks George, I appreciatethat. Yeah, I like that,
sweet child of mine. Talk backthe other day Dayla Cruz puts the opp
in opo. My DJ is goingout of business Friday. The only worst
(01:38:16):
thing of that is not having aJay. Thanks for thanks for being there
with me. V I C AR I O U s L y Well.
I hope he's uh. I hopehe's landing on his feet with another
job. Yeah, another Jay.That's vicariously for those of you out there
that don't. I was thinking aboutcalling iHeartRadio getting a gig with you too.
(01:38:42):
We could call it Sincy. Youknow, here's the thing we are
hiring. Oh uh, just Iwas just informed a few minutes ago a
new producer position has become open hereat iHeartMedia. Uh, and so you're
anybody who wants it? Please?Did you imagine I am begging? Now?
(01:39:04):
Listen, You're not gonna be paidwell, You're gonna be working hours
that are not very good. You'renot gonna enjoy life for at least the
beginning of it. But there isa path and each the door is open
at iHeartMedia, Cincinnati. So hey, Audie, I have a suggestion this
year, you really mess with people, you know how you you do your
(01:39:27):
break breaking Bengals news, you know, and you play the bumper music and
get everybody hyped and everything. Youshould do that and then afterwards, you
know, go right into it andsay T. Higgins is not part of
this breaking news. You have peopleswerving all over the roads all right,
perfect time for that right now.Actually, oh oh, oh, oh,
(01:39:54):
Tony, we have breaking news andT. Higgins is not a part
of the breaking new news. TheCincinnati Reds today have announced the following transactions.
The Reds today claimed outfielder Peyton burdickOff waivers from the Orioles an option
him to triple A Louisville. Theyhave also transferred left hander Alex Young to
(01:40:15):
the sixty day injured list. Doesthat work for you, Jim? Is
that what you're looking for? Iam a good run just out of curiosityity
since he's been so hot. Iwent to my betting app and looked at
the Lillard point totals for the nextgame, and it was over twenty eight
and a half across the board fullgame, first half, first quarter.
(01:40:36):
So I put a big sprinkle onthe full game, thinking that he's got
Vegas so twisted in the not theydon't really know what to do here.
Seems reasonable, Okay, it's goodrunning round representing the natty I here in
Zona. Great bounce back when youlast night with an a spot on the
board. The Benson project has gottena hit. It's still under the construction,
(01:40:57):
but it's in progress. It's gettingdrafty. I can't wait to see
what the Bengals do. It's draftman. We can make some moves here
and there. I'm all about protectingthat we got beef. Let's beef up
some more. That old line atD line, Okay, we'll see it
as a fault to us and geta cornerback oh sure, bred us d
a Grade A B. Hey Tony, Hey, Hey, it's Jimmy.
(01:41:23):
Jimmy not today your draft day today. I'll never forget that. Out Tony
Pikes coming to town. Oh mygod. I just I seen this one
coming. I said, oh,I set this up, and man,
I'll see this. I've seen thatlike a hundred green change out. I
say, hey, we'll go todinner. Wasn't that great, Tony?
(01:41:43):
You love it? God, itwas awesome. Oh my god, man,
thanks for that call. I justI needed that. Keep in mind,
I'm a Fortigator fan, but youwant to replace Tyler Boyd a slot
guy with really good hands, RickyPiercell and the third round would be perfect.
(01:42:04):
Remember the name. He's a studtelling you he'd make the offense click
just a little bit more. Havingthat third guy in there, they can
kind of take Tyler Boyd's role, all right, you say, remember the
Mike covedlle Hey, guys, Iam in Cleveland for work and got to
see the Guardians beat the Red Soxlast night. Ben Lively pitch six and
(01:42:29):
the third only give up one run. I got a standing room only ticket.
They have in the corners of theBallpark are the standing standing room only
sections. It's fifteen dollars and youget a beer voucher with it. Pretty
cool? Yeah, I know thatthey like completely did that, redid that
right field side and cool. Itlooks pretty cool. Ben Lively forgot about
(01:42:50):
him. Man, Hey guys,it's Robin Dayton roll Saint Brown seals the
deal and sets the table for someof these wide receivers to get paid.
What's Jamar going to now? Fiveon four years? Boy, he definitely
seals Tagan's fate. I agree, you're not going to be able to afford
to number ones, that's for sure. Yeah. I think if there is
a a different view to take onthat, it does make things very hard
(01:43:14):
on the T Higgins side. Yeah, Higgins isn't gonna be here next year
more than likely. I mean LewisRiddick said that. Yeah. I mean,
if you have any brain cells whatsoever, it doesn't take a lot for
you to realize he's not gonna behere next year. And if he is,
the Bengals are probably gonna tag himagain. He's not gonna like that.
I don't make him even more.Ellie say, hey, La Cruz,
this guy is so good let's sayI can quote the horrible lady on
(01:43:40):
the plane. That dude right thereis not real. Seriously, Ella Daily
Cruz. He's poetry in motion. He is so good and the yes is
coming round spensive Steers, amazing. We got a fun ball club fellas.
Yeah. Thanks that lady from thatplane, she's turned her life into a
(01:44:01):
pretty good situation. Yep, she'snot nice. Taylor here, he listened
him outside, So it might sounda little windy. Got some work to
do before the draft. I knowthere's a lot of questions about what's going
on the next day, and Ijust want to address some pressing information for
you guys. Listen. I'm anold school When I say sweatshirt, it
(01:44:25):
just means a regular crew neck sweatshirt. I don't define what type of sweatshirt
I'm wearing. If I shay sweatshirt, it means no hood If I shay
hoodie, it's a hooded sweatshirt.Oh okay, interesting, thank you.
If we don't know the difference betweena sweater and a sweatshirt, how are
we supposed to know the difference betweena simple man from reading and a dumb
(01:44:45):
ass from reading? Whoa whoa, whoa whoa uncalled for? Uh? Is
it already that Tommy year Starr Cheeksleaving talkbacks, talking about Jeff Carby on
his podcast and then missing Tony Sisabeen on what are we doing? Hey,
(01:45:09):
it's been a few months. Giveit. Just give him a you
know, he took some time off, took the time away from the rock.
Bowers is there at eighteen. TheBingles should entertain phone calls from other
teams wanting Bowers and see how highthe bidding goes. I would absolutely lose
my mind if Bowers was there andthey pass on him. I like that
(01:45:32):
guy's idea. I would lose mymind. By the way, Charles Davis'
latest mock draft says Bengals take BrockBowers at eighteen. Love Charles Davis.
The Grazigano information earlier you passed alongwas interesting. How high up do you
think the Bengals would go in thedraft or would everyone freak out if they
went to three with the Patriots andselected Marvin Harrison Junior heard they there you
(01:45:58):
go? That would be the bigIt is shocking in my life for the
Bengals. Tony. It's Johnny,you're having a kid soon. It's a
boy start bench cut these names,Oh, Cooper, Bubba, Tristan,
I ain't all three. I'm justcurious who I'd start Bubba, I'd bench
(01:46:20):
Cooper, and I'll get rid ofTrician Bubba Bubba pick Joe's there from straight
American Ball Park with a start onebench one cut one current said sudden that
one former round start one bench onecut one, starting with number four Sandiano,
(01:46:45):
number twelve, Bubba Thompson and fromthe twenty tens number three Chris blake
Man recency bias says, I gottago Espin. Yes, I'm gonna start
espinall, I'm gonna bench Bubba Thompson. I'm gonna move on from Christmas.
Yeah, the Lake is gonna bethe odd man out here? How but
can at least play defense and steelbases? Yep? How about them home
(01:47:10):
dogs last night? Yes, sir, yes, sir? How you hear
that? One? More tone? Was that bark? How about them home
dogs last night? Oh? Thereit is, hey, y'all. Go
Burgh's currently sober soon to be intoxicated, Uncle Steve see hey man, how
(01:47:30):
about that tj am tone on thetelevision last night? Boy, if he
ain't the new local Tony Ramo. He's got himself a job after he hangs
up with Cleave, ain't he?And what's this about Barry Larkin? Y'all
are smoking that good stuff because BarryLarkin forever. Body. Hey guys,
I might have to move to Vegasnow and become a ACES fans. And
(01:47:54):
Darren Waller decided to drop a bagand divorce Kelsey Plumb Bold move move Darren
Waller. Yeah, that's a that'san interesting decision. That's our last one.
Can't imagine it's gonna play out wellfor darn Darren Waller. I just
hope he's okay man. Yeah,he said a lot of problems in the
past. I hope he's good mentally. And yeah, very good. We
(01:48:14):
got a break, we'll come back. We'll get back on time, somewhat
break again. Have a quick segment, Brady. We'll do whatever we want.
Yeah, it's it's draft a eveand we can do like the I
know that this the inverty. Wecould talk about my draft experience tomorrow.
We can get to all of that. Still, it's uh right now,
it's pushing it off. It's ESBNfifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station. Thanks to
(01:48:35):
Penn Station. Now your chance towin one thousand dollars. Enter this nationwide
keyword on our website and check. That's the check you enter it. Back
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Hey, welcome back. It's uh
(01:49:00):
more of since he three sixty, you already know ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Station and a service of our goodfriends at Penn's station East Coast subs Fries
and uh they're about so much more. Visit a local Penn station and uh
grip some of that freshly squeeze lemonadewhen you do, and maybe you'll just
see my brother randomly walking by whenyou do. So, what do you
(01:49:23):
think Devin's doing right now? Oohman, probably way to Penn Station again.
Well, for the longest time,Devin is a devon, went to
Wake Forest. He's a very smartkid. For the longest time, Devin
had no idea how to listen tothis show, like, Hey, what
are you doing today? I'm like, well, the same thing I'm doing
every day, just on the airtalking about sports. Yeah, And for
(01:49:44):
the longest time that just eluded him. And I think now he at least
understands you like walk him through it. Yes, got him the iHeartRadio app.
He downloaded it. How long agowas that? Oh? Months months
ago? Only just only reasonly, this is only recently where he became you
know, I have a listener interesting, which I wonder if that translates the
data hire That makes sense because allthe times I had met him previously,
(01:50:05):
didn't really seem to know who Iwas. Yeah, probably like why who's
is coming around with my brother thatI have no idea who it is?
It makes more sense. You probablysaid, you know, you're on the
show, and he's probably thinking whatshow? And it just went over the
top a little bit. But ifyou happen to find yourself at the uh
Penn station right there on Kenwood Road, there's a chance you might see my
(01:50:27):
brother walking back. Is it helike a sharp with UFC Benning, He's
great with UFC. Huge UFC guy. Don't know where this segment's going.
How about this the number? Speakingof numbers, we talked about, you
know, corners and where some areprojecting corners to go and the odds for
the Cincinnati Bengals right now, theover under number on quarterbacks taken in the
(01:50:55):
first round is four and a halfAustin. You have talked about this,
We've talked about it on air.You think that number will be drastically higher.
I do, Yeah, I thinkwe'll see I think we'll see all
the top quarterbacks go. I thinkwe'll see Caleb Williams obviously, Jayden Daniels,
(01:51:15):
Drake May, JJ McCarthy, MichaelPennix all in the first Yes,
bow Knicks as well. Okay, yep, Now they might not be all
in the top thirteen. I thinkbow Knicks or maybe even Pennix will maybe
slide a little bit and again teamsin that area to trade up in front
of the Bengals looking for a quarterbackbecause he's you know, maybe he reaches
(01:51:39):
fifteen and people are like, allright, we're done waiting. Yeah,
you know, we're going to comeback up or whatever. It might be.
Something along those lines. I thinkis going to be interesting. But
I'm like everybody else and I reallydon't know anything. I'm with you.
I think the overhits. The abundanceof teams that are being talked about as
(01:51:59):
far as trading up, continues torise for the NFL Draft. I said
before, I'm just glad we're atthe point now Austin that by this time
tomorrow night, we know, youknow, there's been years pass where it's
like there's gonna be a ton ofaction and it's a very quiet first round,
but last year was nuts. Yes, very interested to see if we
(01:52:24):
see teams start to move up.Talked about the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier in the
week being a team that would dothat to go get a tackle. Does
what any other team moves to tomorrowpushed the Bengals enough to want to move
up to go get their guy?Or is it like we've seen in a
lot of other years, wait ateighteen, if their guys there take them,
(01:52:46):
if they think they can move backand gain another pick, they would
do that. That's what they've donehistorically. Does that change tomorrow night?
I think will be fascinating for sure. Let's take a break, let's come
back and quick segment that we'll welcomein. Who's on from three to six
Eggman on the Moweger Show. Thisis since E three to sixty, a
service of Penn Station on the Homeof the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty,

your phone calls, Lewis Riddick comingon with us in an hour two talkbacks
(01:53:54):
and of course we'll round things offwith Moagar in just a few minutes with
quick hits and locks of the night. Anything that we have not gotten to
that we need to get to today, Austin. Obviously we can get the
more draft conversation tomorrow. We didmention that Reggie Bush got his Heisman trophy
back. Yes, Daniel Jeremiah reportedearlier that he believes there's gonna be teams
(01:54:14):
moving up to get offensive tackles. We have the conversation about up to six
quarterbacks going in the NFL Draft.I'm preparing for madness. Yeah, I
too, am preparing for madness. One quick note on Peyton Burdick, who
the Reds claimed today off waivers fromthe Baltimore Orioles. He is a right
(01:54:34):
handed hitting outfielder who posted a sevento seven to five ops and Triple A
last year a six oh four opsin the big leagues. And he's from
Batavia, Ohio. All right,he's from Obadavilla. Yeah, so uh,
Peyton Burdick going to Triple A Lovilleand perhaps maybe at some point eventually
(01:54:55):
coming up to the big leagues. That was the move the Reds made today,
alongside moving Alex Young to the sixtyday injured list. I believe he's
continuing to deal with a back injury. You can also expect chaos tomorrow night
from six to midnight at the HolyGrail thanks to our friends at on WLW.
(01:55:15):
Thanks to the Holy Grail down there, there's about seventy five hundred sponsors
for that show. Yes, wewouldn't have enough time to list them,
but six to midnight, six toeight with Rocky and Lance. I'll join
Moweger from eight to ten and thenAustin and Chick Ludwick from ten to midnight.
Don't miss it. Come on downbe a part of it if you
can. The Holy Grail. It'sday baseball for the Reds, so you

continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati SportsStation. It's time for Cincy three sixty
(01:56:00):
kids on fifteen thirty. Hey,welcome back, thanks to our friends at
Penn Station. This is quick Kitagger'sin the room. It's uh, it's
NFL Draft, Eve. Yes,you won't be here, You're on location

the commercials here. Yes, yeah, tomorrow night at the whole four of
us will be at the Holy aredown at the really looking forward to that.
(01:56:21):
Can't wait. What do you gotcoming up on your show today?
Well, uh, you know it'sDraft Eve. Kelsey Conway is going to
be with us at to three pointthirty from the Inquirer. We were in
a holding pattern for Mike Renner.Mike Renner, formerly a Pro Football Focus,
will be a part of the BleachReport NFL Draft show. Uh,
but it's it's been a little diceyin terms of scheduling him. So we're
(01:56:44):
tentatively scheduled to have him on.If he does come on, we don't
know what time. Sure, that'sthe sort of high end organization NFL draft
Eve. He's got a lot goingon. Yeah, so lots of draft
stuff. I want to talk aboutthe last the game last night. I'm
going to take a couple of victorylaps. Also, Reggie Bush is getting
his Heisman trophy back, yes, which is great. He is. I
(01:57:06):
want to go back to how wehave unfortunately branded Terrell Pryor and a bunch
of old uc basketball players. Okay, we're gonna spend some time on that.
We'll get an injury update from WorthoSincy and Brianna Jenko, head coach
of the five time Biggies champion Xavierwomen's golf team. I'm gonna see if
(01:57:29):
she'll give me some golf lessons.Okay, yeah, uh found out yesterday.
You see he's gonna play Villanova nextyear. Yeah, that's cool.
Savior's gonna play TCU. Nice nicelittle addition there. Yep, the number
says four and a half. Rightnow, do you hammer the over on
quarterbacks taking tomorrow night? Uh?No, tomorrow Yeah, Austin thinks six
(01:57:49):
that would be bow Knicks and Pinnixwould be like the guys. Boy it
it feels like if you if youlook at ten draft analysts, you get
ten different wide variety of opinions.Regarding Michael Pennox. I'll go over.
I'll go over. The only thingyou need, though, is in EKG
to tell you about him in whatwe do mo we We spent a lot
(01:58:14):
of time on quick hits yesterday praisingDavid Bell for the lineup constructions and spinall
to be able to take decided thatI decided. I decided I can't do
this lineup thing anymore. I can'tdo this every day. No, I
can't. Look man, I can't. But we didn't do this fifteen years
(01:58:34):
ago, right the game would goon TV or radio and you would hear
them announce the lineup, and that'swhen you found out that's a huge thing.
Now it comes out four hours beforethe game and every sit I can't
do it anymore. I'm out. There's two things I'm out on. Okay,
I'm out on lineup, losing ourminds over the lineup for regular season
baseball games. And I am goingto make a valve today that my show
(01:58:59):
will be a safe haven from HamiltonCounty versus the Bengals stadium bickering. Okay,
I can't, I can't. Ican't do those people's child's betting.
Okay, it's it's an April baseballgame. I can't do it anymore.
I've tried. I tried to participate. I can't, But I will tell
you that I told you Santiago Espanolwas about to break out. Yeap,
you could feel it coming. Yousaw it. He was swinging the bat
(01:59:21):
well and the way he's protecting Ellie. Next thing, you know exactly Ellie
Austin hit this earlier. If youdon't really understand the ins and outs of
baseball, to go opposite field toleft center, yes, yes, with
a no doubt says incredible things abouthow he's seen the ball. Right now.
I mentioned earlier, he's on pacefor forty nine home runs, eighty
(01:59:42):
five steals, one hundred and twentyrbi, one hundred and fifty five runs.
When you see him in the field, go make a play down the
left field line. He was closerto the home run fence than he was
star base. Yeah, and noone even blinked. When you know,
when you see like I I thinkeverybody' as the ballpark just sort of looked
at each eddle like, Yep,that's what Ellie does. But when you
see him cover that kind of ground, do you imagine him in the outfield?
Yes, Fernando Cruz has a splitfinger from God and David Bell pressing
(02:00:09):
the right buttons again, Red's bestmanager in decades, David Bell knowing when
the right moment to bring the rightreliever in was for Cruise. It's his
splitter. What's your gift from God? I don't have one. I really
don't have one. Though. Letme just tell you a quick story.
I was driving to work today andI'm coming up I seventy one. Yeah,
(02:00:31):
and uh, you know the sinkingfeeling when you're looking in your rear
view Yep, and it's red inblue lightsh My goodness, got me?
Did he so pull the car over? And guys just doing his job.
I'm I'm I'm punching it. I'mtrying to get to work. Yeah,
I have a lot, so I'mI'm just hey, I got now,
(02:00:51):
I got a clean record. Ihaven't had a I haven't had a speeding
ticket since two thousand and eight, and that was in Indiana. So the
guy gentleman comes to my car.I've got my insurance, my license,
my registration. I'm I'm ready togo, and I handed to him.
Then he takes and he just helooks for a second. He goes,
oh, oh h ESPN fifteen thirty. I said, yeah, officer,
(02:01:15):
yeah, locks of the night, and he said, handed me back my
license. I just want to thankyou for that. Tyrees Max the most
improved player Futures Pick plus fourteen hundred. I want to thank you. And
didn't even give me a warning, didn't even run my didn't even run my
license, mister Egor, thank youso much. Just hey, ease back
(02:01:38):
a little bit, slow it down. I really want to thank you.
So that was very very nice.He got me of that member of the
I was Ohio Highway patrol man.Had my seat belt on, which helps
you know what's holding you back. And uh, but but you know,
he was. It's nice. It'snice to have the gratitude, show goodness.
(02:01:58):

talked off air about how awesome theNBA playoffs have been to this point.
The series that I'm a little concernedabout is this Celtics Heat. No,
Jimmy Butler, fourteen and a halfis not a line you see a lot
in a playoff series. I don'tsee the Heat having a chance in this.
I just don't know if I canlay fourteen and a half not knowing
you know what can happen late inthe game. What I do know is
(02:02:45):
I thought the Pelicans played the Thunderreally well. And if I'm gonna get
seven and a half, even eightin some spots, I'll take the Pelicans.
I think the Thunder are good enoughto win this game out right,
But I like the Pelicans getting ahigh number. I think I think you
and I are in the same page. I got it at eight. Here's
what the Pelicans did in Game onethey slowed them down. So the thunder
(02:03:06):
typically don't play at a super fastpace. They slowed them down enough.
I think that continues Oklahoma City. For as good and as deep as they
are, they're one of the fewteams that plays like eleven guys, They're
not a good rebounding team. NewOrleans has an advantage I think in terms
of pace and the ability to controlthe glass means if you're gonna give me
more than a touchdown on draft eveman, I'll take the Pelicans. Well
(02:03:29):
said, uh, you can findthat and more from Moeger for the next
three hours and then tomorrow night atthe Holy Grail, the Draft Show,
Lance and Rocky, Me and you. Yes, should be a great night,
really excited, a great quartet. What if the Bengals don't draft until
after we're done at ten o'clock, will there be anyone else there to kind
of guide people through the next Ihaven't. I haven't heard from anyone.
They haven't released a memo yet.I haven't seen the schedule. I hope
(02:03:51):
they are really just you know,Tony, I worry about myself. You're
right, I worry about that.I stay in my lane. I worry
about today with that. Well, fortunately I wasn't swerving, was just going
in the left lane passing people, and boom, there it is. There's
no worse feeling, but there's nobetter feeling than knowing that you're helping people,
whether they're civilians or first response.I can only imagine that police officer.
(02:04:15):
Is he stopping you. You've gotyour radio tuned into fifteen thirty and
he hears, Oh, you're goingto be at the Holy Grail tomorrow and
Lance and Rocky and Tony and itwas great. I was listening to The
Mike Greenberg Show, which for thefour hundredth and seventh show was not hosted
by Mike Greenberg. Is there anybodyin radio who has a better gig?
Here? We're gonna put your nameon this show. You never have to
(02:04:35):
host it on it? How manytimes since the end of football season has
Greene hosted Greenie? Great point?I want that gig, great question here,
you have a show, but younever have to do it. Great
you name it after you. Greatjob security as well. So that's remarkable.
We're going to play a game wherewe're going to like do shots in
here on days that Mike Greenberg doeshis own radio show Okay, dry Out,
