Defensively, he's not good. Italked about it last week. He was

in the midst of a month anda half long slump that was hurting this
team, especially with him being second. That doesn't mean that he sucks.
That doesn't mean that he's a badplayer. That doesn't mean that he won't
be a good player. You're hatingon Ellie for the sake of hating on
Ellie. It's not a bad thingthat other people are fans of Ellie de
la Cruz. They might look atthings differently than I do. That doesn't

make me any different than anyone else. It just might be one particular talk
show host or one person of themedia might value certain parts of Ellie's game
more than I do, or differentlythan I do, and so they think
differently for the long term. Charlietalked about this. The Reds want and
Charlie's trying to relate to us whathe's hearing from the Reds. That's how

all of this works. That theybelieve in the development of him in the
two spot. I believe that that'snonsense because I want to win. It's
where me as a fan and themas an organization, but heads over stuff
because we see things differently. That'skind of what all this is about.

And I believe Velli da la Cruzis going to be a really, really
good player. I'm honest to Godbelieve that. I understand what he's going
through right now. We had agreat weekend, but what he's going through
right now, certainly defensively and forthe last month and a half of the
plate, is not something anybody wantsto see. And it makes you have
doubts. But I also know he'stwenty two years old. Sometimes he's gonna

what else this guy has to say. I honestly believe that Ellie Cole likes
him more than they like the Reds. And it makes no sense because he's
probably not gonna be here in fiveyears anyways because of who his agian is,

gonna be worried about something that's happeningfive years from now. I do not
anticipate Elie day La Cruz to signa long term contract with the Reds.
In the meantime, I hope heplays really, really well for the Reds.
I hope he authors memorable moments forthe Reds. I can't control what

happens five years from now. Ican't control the organizational philosophy. But what
I do know is that he's oncontract. He's under contract through twenty team
control through twenty twenty, and sofor the next five years, I'm going
to enjoy an exciting, fun baseballplayer playing for my favorite team and enjoy
what that could possibly mean for himand for the team while he's here.

worrying about Ellie de la Cruz doingstuff that I don't care. I care
about now. I care about winning. I care about what he's going to
accomplish over the next five years.And if you're so miserable that all you

and how he's not going to behere in five years, and maybe being

Dillon is awesome. He was myfavorite player growing up. In my eyes,

there are people that are just goingto enjoy and appreciate a player while it's

don't sit and think about you knowhow I'm going to feel in an hour
