at two o'clock. Keith and Nickoson will join us. After
that we'll talk FC Cincinnati, talk to Bearcats, and with
Moager quick hits and locks of the night as well.
All still ahead, but for now our talkbacks.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Hey, Tony, Jeff and your rich Happy Thursday to you. Hey,
I wanted to chime in about the Reds management search.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
This has been a disaster, as you know probably already.
If you've seen some of the names coming out, Skip Schumacher,
David Ross. I'm sorry, but those names do not move
the needle for me at all. I'd love to get
your opinion on this.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Take care. Yeah, this is a to me, it's it's
such a unique time because the way the roster is constructed,
you have all of this young talent that you need
to make sure you have the right guy in place
that can cultivate that talent. But you also have to
have a manager that you know that that has an
understanding of the talent that is here and what the

(01:56):
the future of the organization, especially after Jonathan India's comments
that we talked about yesterday of this team needing to
do more. Is it a manager that's coming in and
he's happy that he's just going to be the manager
and he's you know, he's going to be a yes
man and not really rile the ruffle the feathers. Or
is it a guy that's coming in and says, no,
this is how it's going to be. I'm coming here

(02:16):
to win and to truly fulfill the idea of trying
to win a championship and bring that to Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Hey, Tony, Jeff and you Richmond back with the double dip. Yeah,
I wanted to expound a little bit on that. You know,
with Nick Krawl, he should be looking at this management
search like his pants are on fire. Yeah, and he's
going to get canned if he does not make the
right higher. I don't feel the urgency there, and as

(02:44):
a fan it frustrates the hell out of me.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Well, I think the question of the urgency is fair,
and I think the question of is it really Nick
Krawl's decision is also fair.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
Yeah, I agree with that as well.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Hey, Fellows, Kevin, order to contect here, we could all
agree Zych Taylor is not going anywhere anytime soon. Nope,
But it's the time to put Lou on the hot seat.
It seems like he can coach well against the Chiefs
and the other teams. He struggles and gets gashed like
he did on Monday Night. And if that's a preview
what this defense is going to be get arrested this season,
then this offense is probably gonna have the hang of

(03:19):
forty Purger every week so we can win ball games.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
What do you guys say, Yeah, they're gonna have their
better games, and they're gonna have games that they match
up better. But for a lot of what I've seen
with Lou and Roumo, it's not been dominant shut down
d It's been the bend but don't break, And that
was the method against the Chiefs for so long. To
frustrate Mahomes is allow everything in front and then buckle

(03:42):
down in the red zone when you need it. The
problem is they're not buckling down in the red zone,
so teams are having free reign through the twenties and
then they're getting inside the twenty and they're still scoring
touchdowns and that just compounds every single problem out there.

Speaker 7 (03:54):
Kind of an interesting sliding doors moment, like what if
lou takes the head coaching job after the Super Bowl year?
Like how different does this whole thing look? And you know,
with the way it's going now, and if it continues
like it is, he may have some remorse about not
to because hey, there's only thirty two of those jobs,
and it's one of those things you sometimes you just
got to take it, even if you know it's not

(04:15):
a good job.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
Sometimes you just need to go and take it. But
obviously you know that's.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Well, every job in the NFL is turning into a
good one in sports because even if you get fired,
you still get a bunch of money.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
That's fact.

Speaker 8 (04:26):
I think that the twenty twenty fours in s Nanty
Bengals are fascinating and not in a good way. I
feel like It's a lost season already, and I'm not
going to blame any one person for this disaster Zach
Taylor Cheeks. But I do wonder about this season's impact
on the Jamar Chase situation moving forward. I mean, if

(04:48):
the Bengals go three and fourteen, people aren't going to
be clamoring for Jamar to get paid, right, But if
they miraculously make the playoffs, Jamar should get paid.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah. I don't even want to start thinking about that. Yet.

Speaker 7 (04:59):
You got to pay that guy, yep, like I should
have already paid him, right, he should have already been paid.
And again, not a Bengals fan here, he needs to
be paid. But the one thing I was going to
ask you, and as you know, let's say the doomsday
scenario comes and somebody gives you the offer of all
offers for him. Do you even entertain it?

Speaker 9 (05:18):
Now?

Speaker 5 (05:18):
Do you take it? Do you even entertain it?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
I still don't because I think that he is a
top three wide receiver in the NFL went healthy, and
I don't think I'm another offer is going to give
you that. Now, you know, you might have to just
present it to the board because the defense if this
is the doomsday scenario. That means the defense is in shambles,
and it means that the conversation for so long was Okay,

(05:42):
you've got an elite quarterback, you've got an elite wide receiver,
both top three in the NFL at their position. You
can just outscore teams and you can piece together a
system around them. That would mean that that idea, that
ideology is not working, and that would be a shift
is needed from the top of the organization. And then
that would be a different conversation.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
Yet, And for the record, I wouldn't even entertain the idea,
but just thought.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
Hey, Tony, hey, Drew, happy almost Friday to you.

Speaker 10 (06:08):
Yes, was thinking about the game last night and how
Cleveland got big mad about TJ. Friedel bunting to break
up the perfect game and refresh me. Was this the
first time that TJ. Friedel had ever bunted for a
single in his career? No, the first time he bunted
for a single this season?

Speaker 5 (06:27):
Maybe I don't even know.

Speaker 10 (06:28):
I it's the first time he bunted for a single
this month.

Speaker 11 (06:30):
T K.

Speaker 10 (06:30):
Friedel is known to bunt the ball.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
It's what it does. I can't help it.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
And it's a two nothing game with no outs. They're
trying to get a base runner so that they can
get something going, which they did, and they scored a
run that inning.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
With the guy who leads the team in home runs
on deck my day, add yep, baffling.

Speaker 11 (06:51):
Tone Drew, John Moon Ding Cleeve would pull it together,
your guys, River caught on fire.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Ye left you twice?

Speaker 5 (07:01):
You want a championship?

Speaker 11 (07:02):
Anytime an NFL team does something bad, what do we say?

Speaker 5 (07:07):
They're browning?

Speaker 3 (07:08):
Yes, you guys stink.

Speaker 11 (07:10):
We're gonna start calling you guys the Michigan Guardians pull
it together? Cleveland stinky pooh Poohybay.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Hey, they'll never take twenty sixteen away from me. Lebron.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
I said, bron can go anywhere he wants after he
won that champion.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
That's true, Hey, Tony, it's.

Speaker 12 (07:28):
Boomer Drew from South Bend. Bengals. Defense in my golf
game have something in common. We both suck and much
like my putting, I have zero confidence in this defense
moving forward.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
Uh, this front.

Speaker 12 (07:40):
Office, Duke Tobin, they haven't done enough to beef up
this this defensive line. Don't expect two rookies to come
in and stop the run on a pro level. It's
gonna take some time for them to develop. But uh,
if this defense can't can't get going, we go nowhere.
So simwhere as that and we're gonna get dogged out
in this in this division have a good day.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
The worst case scenario is the defense is so bad
a year and the offense is elite, and then you
have to rethink how you've built your entire franchise by
paying a quarterback all the money that Joe Burrow makes
and by having to pay a guy like Jamar Chase
and oh, by the way, this is all happening when
the when the Joe Burrow, the the realness of his
cap hits hasn't even yet to set in yet for

(08:17):
this roster, and they're still struggling and deficient on defense
the way they are.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
Yeah, the draftings got to get better from moving forward, because,
like you've talked about, that cap hit number is going
up after this year.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
This has been such a weird week for me.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
I'm barely on Twitter.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
I just can't bear to read anything.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
It's hard for me to he would listen to this shows? Sorry,
what you know?

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Ohen three needs nothing except that the defense is trash.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Oh three beats nothing.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
You can go win fourteen games in a row, there's
nothing stopping that.

Speaker 13 (08:54):
It's just so impressed.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
I spent all off season for the Bengals talking about
the Reds, and I spent all summer talking about, man,
if the Reds can just get to five hundred, we
can start a conversation. And now three weeks into the
NFL season, I'm doing the exact same sitting with the
Cincinnati Bengals. Can you just get to three and three
and then we can reset Groundhog Day?

Speaker 9 (09:17):
Yep, I'll tell you that there kats been a pleasant surprise.
We need some positive Cincinnati sports, I'll tell you. I
know I talk about it too much. I've always been
a big Jordan Battle fan, and I'm ember Nick Saban
saying he had about the highest football IQ of any

(09:38):
player ever coached. I just don't understand why he's not
playing more.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
That's you know.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
I always defer to the coaches because they get to
see practice every day, right and obviously the coaches are
seeing things on the practice field that they don't feel
would translate to game day. But you know, at this point,
with the way the Bengals defense has performed, you know
why not. Maybe the kid's just a gamer and you
throw him in there and he makes some plays. But

(10:09):
you know, coaches, they get to watch practice. It happens
in any sport too, they're like, well, why isn't this
guy playing. He's like, probably because the coaches who get
to watch them every day.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
See, in the NFL, is differ because it's only fifty
three that make the team correct. So if he's worthy
of a roster spot roster spots, then they're worthy of
a chance because you obviously think highly enough of them
sure to get him on there. And by the way,
I'm starting to see like Scott Saderfield is like, you know,
the the bat signal in Gotham City, but it's just
Sadderfield in the sky. We didn't even know we needed

(10:37):
it this year, not not to hear, but here comes
our hero and we needed that is Scott Saderfield.

Speaker 7 (10:45):
Ray from Please all right, all right, it's a strictly
hypothetical question, love these what.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Do you think the conversations have been like this week
between Duke.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Tobin, Zach Taylor, Mike Brown and.

Speaker 14 (11:00):
Who about.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Do you think anybody said anything to anyone about what
the hell was that?

Speaker 6 (11:07):
And held them accountable.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
No, it's probably one of those things. Probably one of
those situations where like they had the move, the meeting
set and then some reason like someone had to cancel,
and they're just trying to reschedule it where they can
all get together.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
I'm gonna I'm willing to bet that the phrase we're
just gonna have to watch the tape was said, Yes.

Speaker 15 (11:24):
Hey guys, talkback matters.

Speaker 6 (11:27):
Guy.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
Hi, I just want to tell you.

Speaker 16 (11:29):
I think you're having a great show.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Listen.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
It's not lose fault. Oh, it's not lose fault.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Okay, we all know the defense is bad.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
The Bengals.

Speaker 15 (11:40):
They pay they're paid offense top five in the NFL. Yes,
their defense, their pay twenty second in NFL. What's wrong
with that picture?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Well, I'd still I'd say, if you're paying the offense
that much money and you're still able to be in
the top twenty two of pay on defense, then you
should still be enough to win. Yeah, for sure, I would.
I would go back to the roster management. I asked.
I asked Moe this, Drew, I ask Austin this. If
if you were divving out a wheel of blame and
you got like a pie chart. What percentage of the
blame goes to the front office, what percentage goes to

(12:15):
the coaching and scheme, what percentage goes to the players.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
I'd go fifty five percent on the front office, because
they're the ones that are getting the players and putting
them on the field and paying the contracts. I'd probably
go twenty five percent on the coaching staff. That gets
me to what eighty impressive math and then twenty percent
probably a little bit less, probably thirty percent on the
coaching staff, fifteen percent on the player.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Yeah, that's exactly the order that I had.

Speaker 7 (12:41):
That's about how I would do it. For my own team.
My pie chart would be one hundred percent the quarterback.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Yes, that's all.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
We can't go over Sep Camba Boom.

Speaker 12 (12:50):
No, it's like Joey Bottom did in twenty ninet team.

Speaker 13 (12:54):
We can't go over I think drive by joe your
wheel in Carolina. Then got the Ravens, Giants, Eagle and
Browns on the schedule.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
We're going to be five and three, okay, and.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Then we're going to eat peanut eminem.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
And we're all gonna be fat happy Bobe. Okay, all right,
Shannon he's going on. He's got a lot going on
his personal life, so I'm happy he was able to
leave that talkback.

Speaker 17 (13:20):
Let's judge the Commander's offense and Jadie Daniels after two
games against the Eagles D line at least. Yep, this
is getting little out of hand on the hype right now.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 17 (13:30):
The two dimes to McLaurin were great, But any top
ten D one quarterback could have functioned at that level
against that pass rush.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Outside of those two passes, collegiate quarterbacks, outside of the
two dimes, collegiate quarterbacks could come in and make that
throw right.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
But again, and I'll just say this, when it was
when it was money time. Yeah, the kid was money
and that's what you want to see from especially a
rookie quarterback making his third start.

Speaker 13 (13:58):
Hey, guys, making from the grove, Marcus, Marcus to do
a little callback on how the let It Marinate segment
started about getting Christmas decorations out too early? Yes, this weekend,
I really hope that Thanksgiving does not come early for
Andy Daldon. Card up this tangled defense like a Thanksgiving turkey,

(14:19):
because right now I truly think he might.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
You just gotta think.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Do you think any is like taking it personally this week?

Speaker 3 (14:27):
I think there's a I think any anytime in sports
that you can find a little extra motivation and a
little extra competitive edge. I think you you lean into it, okay,
And I'm sure there's that form.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I don't think it's the driving force, but there's probably
a little bit of that among anything. I would just
be happy that I'm playing a defense and I just
watched on tape like the Bengals.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Hey, Drew, watch the hot mic.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
Yikes, hot Mic.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
Have a great day, guys.

Speaker 7 (14:57):
I'm not used to having to turn my own micro
phone on and off. I apologize. I'll be better hot.

Speaker 14 (15:02):
Hello, this is former president ron over again, Ronnie, and Well,
I don't care what they say up there in Cleveland.
They can say that the Reds are from Kentucky all
they want. I mean, as far as I'm concerned, the
Guardians are from Canada.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
A oh Canada.

Speaker 16 (15:19):
Oh hey is this really fifteen thirty? Did I hear
you say you are not a Bengals fan.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
That's correct, It's true.

Speaker 16 (15:33):
You really don't know what you got till it's gone.
Come back, ONDI.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
I appreciate the realness. I appreciate the.

Speaker 7 (15:41):
Honest Honestly, I've been on this program probably about seven
or eight times now. I'm surprised that's the first one
I've ever got.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Yeah, it's And also it's not a prerequisite that you
have to be a fan of a certain.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Team and end up I am a Reds fan.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Well, I'm sorry about that.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
Yeah, I'm right. I really know how to pick him
in this town.

Speaker 8 (15:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 18 (15:57):
So, ultimately, Joe Burrow, he's not to be able to
turn on a light switch and become that real vocal
leader like Tom Brady getting in guy's faces.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
It's just not his temperament yet.

Speaker 18 (16:07):
He can learn to become that, sure, But Zach Taylor
and Joe Burr are very similar in that sense where
Zach's not feeling his backup against the wall.

Speaker 3 (16:16):
He's looking at the silver lining of every situation. The
glass is always half full.

Speaker 18 (16:20):
I think Burrow would benefit from a guy like Dan
Campbell who's going to bring that energy and be that
vocal leader for the whole team.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah. The coach in the quarterback do not play off
each other from an energy standpoint, it's almost the exact same. Yeah,
And I think that sounds of the problem because where
do you get.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
It from, right?

Speaker 7 (16:36):
And it's interesting how I always try to get a
read on Zach Taylor whenever I watch him, like whenever
I watch the Bengals play, and you know it's about
the process. Yeah, and you know he just wants to
watch the tape and all that, but he he really
does just like not change expression at all.

Speaker 5 (16:53):
And that works to an extent in football.

Speaker 7 (16:56):
But there are times where I'm like, man, I want
to see my coach get a little I need it
a little fiery every once in a while.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
Right, one more because we gotta get going. Yeah, Tony,
Greg Sharonville.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
So, Greg, hey, throughout your career, your long career, all
the way back to high school, did you feel at
times you were a leader or had to be a leader,
And if so, how did.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
You handle it?

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Anyway, have a good day, it's going to end off.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Yeah. I was just not the raw rock guy. I
was more by example, lead by example, and there were
times where at a certain level you needed to be
that guy, and I was willing to do that. But
in doing so, you have to know that that you're
certified to do it. If my play was lacking on
the field. I couldn't be the guy that was yelling

(17:40):
at other players to pick up their play when I
was struggling. So it's a fine line to walk, but
it was for me lead by example. But you know,
I tried to create that situation with teammates. Of all right,
he doesn't say much, so when he does talk, we
probably should listen.

Speaker 7 (17:56):
And I think there's more to being a vocal leader
than just doing yelling and the raw ross speeches. You know,
it's picking a guy up when he needs it, or
correcting a technique or something like that. You know, everyone
says like, oh, I need to be a more vocal leader,
and they think that Joe's going to be doing the
pregame pump up speeches when right, that isn't him. But
there are ways to be a vocal leader in a

(18:18):
locker room without being the yelling and raw, raw guy.
And I think it's just about finding that balance for
Joe between lead by example and finding those moments where
he can be a leader and construct and help out
his younger teammates as they move.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Forward, especially behind closed doors, correct and not out. You know,
in today's in the world where the media gets a
hold of something and just rips it apart. Right, all right,
we got to take a break football in the Natty.
When we return, it's Sincy three to sixty, thanks to
our friends at Cincy shirts on the Home of the
Bengals ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 5 (18:49):
Hey, it's ma Legger.
