Speaker 1 (00:01):
Are you ready for some football? Hi?

Speaker 2 (00:03):
This is Dan Horde, joined Dave Lapham and me for
every play of every game on the official home of
the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty Friday Football Frendsi with a
Friday Football Pick them. It's a little bit different, Austin,
because we actually have a few minutes to make the picks.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
I know, last week we kind of screw unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
I'm looking forward to actually being able to talk through
some of these games and a game we can start
with because the game is going to take place. It's
a GCL Monster matchup tonight. It is Saint X hosting
the Men of Moeler. Yes, Austin, you lead for the

(00:46):
record of thirty four and twenty I am twenty eight
and twenty six.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
You lead us off today. You know what, I don't
know much about either of these teams. Does Kirk Herbstreet's
kid actually play at St X?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (00:58):
He is their starting theirs. Is he good? He's all right? Okay,
I'll take Moler. Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
I think these two teams are pretty even. I think
Mohler has the edge at quarterback. I think Saint X
has the edge. A playmaker for me, I'll take the
home team right there on North Bend Road. I'll take
sat X in a close one tonight. Speaking of st X,
Louisville sat X, there's too many to the pit, all

(01:25):
to your rah. Elder, elder, elder, give me the Panthers
tonight at the pit.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Okay, I'm right there with you, you know, anywhere coming
up from Louisville to have to go into the pit,
I don't know if they've played here before. I don't
care if they've played here before. Give me a Purple
Friday for Brian Combs, for Matt Reeves, for Ron Runk
and others.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Wow, Kings Anderson. I think Anderson's like the Raptors. Now,
oh really, yeah, They're They're different. They got a new
mascot and they I think it was like the Redskins
or something. They had to change it. But they have
a new field, and I like Raptors, and they got
a Raptor on the middle of the field, and I
think that this is going to be a little bit
of a shootout. I like Kings, but I just like

(02:06):
Anderson a little more tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Just because of the fact that they went with Raptors.
I'm going to take Anderson as well.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Okay, where do you stand on this one? This is
a monumental clash right now in northern Kentucky. It's king
and it's a Beechwood at Covecath. Yeah, Beechwood a long
time dynasty. It felt like right for a little while.
And then Cuvecath obviously exists. I'll take Beechwood. Cuvecath just exists.

(02:33):
I think this will be the first time in the
history of pick him that I'm going to pick against Beechwood,
just because I do think that Cuvecath has a little bit.
I know, Cash Harney, a fantastic player, used to go
to Beechwood. Now he's at Cuvecath. I think Cuvecat wins
at home tonight. Reading at Madeira, I've been disgusted at

(02:55):
some of the performances I've seen from the Blue Devils
to this point, and I said I will at this point.
It's more to me about providing bulletin board material and
closing this gap against you, and for that I'm taking
the Mustangs of Madeira too.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Really wow, interesting, I turned I'm sick about it. The
way that you've talked about the Blue Devils over the
last week or so has turned me off to them completely.
And we know what happened the last time they went
on the road. It was ugly and it got ugly quickly.
I'll take Madeira as well.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Okay, the mustangs of Madeira. What do you know about
wes Carrollton, because they're coming into Sydney tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
I know wes Carleton's getting a new school and they're
building it really fast. I mean it's just rising from
the depths of nowhere very quickly. But that that school
can't help them right now. They're still the same old
pirates or whatever they are, and they got to go
into the hive. I'll take the jackets.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah. I did a little research this week and Troy
just beat West Carleton forty eight to seven. And then Fairborn,
who's Sidney beat last week? Fairborn beat West Carleton forty
two to six.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Yeah, outside of girls basketball, I don't think West Carleton's
good at anything.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Okay, all right, let's dive into the college slate here Austin.
We have a lot of ranked matchups this weekend. Let's
start tonight number twenty four Illinois at number twenty three Nebraska.
The line is seven and a half by a pair
of teams just one spot away in the rankings. What
do you think.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I'm sure it'll be absolutely nuts at Nebraska tonight, and
I think this is going to be a close game.
I still think the Huskers are going to win, but
I think Illinois keeps it close. I think they make
it tough. I like their quarterback. I think They're going
to find a way to be in the conversation, certainly
at the very end of the game. I'll take Illinois
to cover the seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Okay, I'm going to take Nebraska because they have the
quarterback that's kind of like Patrick Mahomes, but more so
because Illinois does have a weakness upfront. They are not
as strong on the offensive line, and I think that
Nebraska front is going to absolutely dominate in nebra a
prime time Friday night game tonight. Give me Nebraska home

(05:05):
dog Michigan for the second time already this year. Yeah,
is going to get five points from number eleven USC.
This is interesting because I'm not a big believer in USC,
but it's a big ten matchup. Now Michigan makes the
change of quarterback. Does that change do enough to cover
or give them the five points?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
You know, if this was a noon game, I'd probably
take the Wolverines to cover the number, but it is
a three thirty game, so we'll give the Trojans a
couple of hours to wake up. The Big House is
really cool. It's not that difficult of a place to play.
USC has one of the better quarterbacks in the country,
so I'm going to lean towards them covering that five.
I got a FaceTime last night from a dear friend

(05:47):
of mine and he was in ann Arbor, Michigan, and
he was at his buddy's house, and inside is a
collection he's basically covered the walls in the tickets that
he has had every game over the last forty years. Wow,
it's basically the wallpaper. It was actually pretty stunning. And
he's got this smoker and he's got all these meats,

(06:09):
and they're ready to go, and they're gonna get the Trojans.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Ass give me the Trojans. Oh, okay, I like Michigan
to cover. I think this is close. You're just going
against me to try to make up great I have to,
But I also think USC. I think they're good. I
just don't think they're as good. They got to travel
across the country I'll take Michigan to cover. I think
USC wins this by a field goaler. So how do
you feel about Miami of Ohio.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
I love Chuck Martin, but he said that was the
biggest game of his tenure.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Well, here's here's the deal, and I think this is
a little worrisome. Remember Notre Dame lost a couple of
weeks ago to what was at Northern Illinois, a MAC team.
They lose the game, and then Notre Dame and Marcus
Freeman they regroup. They take on Purdue last week as
a seven and a half point favorite, and they won
sixty six to seven.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I think this is a case of wrong place, wrong
time for Chuck Martin's team. Even though they're gonna be
wearing these new cool white uniforms, they are tough. Give
me Notre Dame to cover the number.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
I'm right there with you. I'll take the Golden Domers.
And the main reason why I mean this was Chuck
Chuck Martin said it's the biggest game of his tenure
and then they lost. Yeah, hangover game.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Utah number twelve at Oklahoma State number fourteen.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Who do you like? I like the Utes to cover
the two and a half.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
All right, I'm gonna follow the public here because this
open and Oklahoma State was actually a home dog, but
there's just so much uncertainty around Cam rising in the
quarterback for Utah Oklahoma State, Mike Gundy, give me the
home team here. I'll take Okay State to cover the number. Tennessee.
Josh Hipel coming back to Oklahoma where he orchestrated a

(07:39):
phenomenal season as a quarterback. Brett Venables was on that staff,
then he's on the staff now Oklahoma is getting six
and a half in Norman against Tennessee. Are you buying
the hype around the balls?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yes, I am. I think Josh Hipel will embarrass Brett
Venables and that defense, and I think the Valls will
go riding back to Rocky Top on top after a
comfortable victory.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Yeah, you and I are on the same boat here.
It's Tennessee, it's Rocky Top in Norman, Oklahoma. Okay, Marshall,
Ohio State's back and actually, after a big week, they're
only gonna lay thirty nine and a half to the
thundering herd of Marshall. Randy Moss is not walking through
that door for Marshallington's Chad Pennington is not watching. I

(08:22):
watched the video yesterday. I Mike NuGen going through the
field huge because it took a field goal to beat
marshall back in the day. Do they cover thirty nine
and a half.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
I think they do. They're fresh. They dropped a point
in the stand a spot in the standings. I think
they're offended by that. I think people be forgetting about them.
Ohio State's one of the best teams in the country.
I think they'll cover thirty nine and a half against
the Thundering Herd at home, and they'll do it for Nuge.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
I'm with you in the Buckeyes simply because I've gone
back to this before. They're comfortable, they're loose, they don't
have to wear suits anymore on game day, the sweatpants coming.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Off the game specifically, we'll get it done, all right.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Houston at Cincinnati here Austin. This number started at five
and a half a couple of days ago. It's down
to three and a half for the Bearcats right now.
You know where I'm at. I am bullish on this
Bearcat team, and I've given reasoning why Houston does scare me,
though good athletic quarterback that can do both and a
defense that does not allow much at all in the
passing game. They went to Norman, Oklahoma already, and they

(09:20):
hung with that Oklahoma team. What do you got?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
What do you like? I am not sold on Scott Saderfield.
I am not sold on this Bearcat football team. I
don't know anybody who legitimately looks at this program and
is sold on it. But I do think they'll cover
three and a half against Houston at home, and I
think that'll be a major step in the right direction
for the bear It's.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Good to see you back on the good side. All right,
let's get to the NFL here a couple of minutes left. Giants, Browns.
Let's knock out the AFC North here with these first
couple Giants Browns. Giants are gonna get six and a
half at the dog Pound in Cleveland. What do you make?

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, it's in Cleveland, and that defense is still as
good as it's ever been. Daniel Jones as bad as
he's ever been. I think the Browns will cover that number.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yeah, Browns, Browns are gonna win this. This is not
more so an indictment on how good the Browns are.
This is how bad the Giants are. They are an
absolute dumpster fire with Daniel Jones. And it's a shame
because I really like the offseason hard knocks that they
put together.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Chargers to confirm you are taking the Browns to cover Chargers.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Steelers a pair of two and zero teams in the
National Football League. You know the Chargers want to run
the rock with Harball. Now, this is interesting because I
know you don't like Harball and I know you don't
like the Steelers. Where do you lean on this one?
With the Steelers giving one.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
And a half. I don't like either one of those guys,
but I love Joey Bosa and I love JK. Dobbins.
I will take the Chargers. How do you fight fire
with more fire? Give me the Chargers to beat the
Stellers at all?

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Right? I know the Steelers, and I know the Steelers
know what the schedule is in the second half of
the year, which is vital that they get off to
this fast start. I do think that they'll find more
comfort at the quarterback position. But this to me is
about a team in the Chargers that wants to run
the rock and a Steelers defense that's not gonna let
you run the rock. Give me the Steelers to cover
one and a half. Finally, how about the h to

(11:01):
two Baltimore Ravens got to go to Dallas. Now, Dallas
is a home dog after getting boat raced by the
New Orleans Saints. Talk to me here, Austin about Cowboys.
Ravens embarrassed last week? Were the Dallas Cowboys. I've never
been big on them coming into this season, but if
there's one thing about him, they are a tough team
to beat at Jerry World. And the Ravens, I think

(11:21):
are just trying to figure out who they are, and
I think they're wondering what their offensive identity is. And
I still think Mike McCarthy, as much as I like
to make fun of him, he's a good play caller.
I'll take the Cowboys to cover that plus one in
this game. We are either gonna be very close coming
into the rankings next week, or it may be over
after three weeks because I'm going Ravens here. I think

(11:42):
this is the typical game that the Ravens. Everyone's starting
to doubt them. This is where Lamar plays really well.
I think the Ravens cover this number. How about quickly
Eagles Sat Saints giving two and a half to the Eagles.
I'll take the Saints to continue this run. Wow, okay,
I'll take Philly all right. Lions at Cardinals one and
one teams. I think surprising on each side of the fence.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Here.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Who do you got?

Speaker 1 (12:04):
I think the Lions defense has something to prove, and
I think the Cardinals are not going to be able
to continue this for a long period of time. I'll
take Detroit.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
We're in agreement there, Lions big bounce back after Dan
cambell ha to put his house up for sale. Texans
Viking to pair of two and zero teams. Vikings Lane
just are getting two at home. I don't think it's enough.
I think the Texans and that defense overpower Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
I agree with you that front seven to for Houston
provides a lot of problems for Sam Darnold in Minnesota.
Houston Cove.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Obviously we're gonna talk more about this Monday, but let's
get the pick in now. Commanders Bengals the Linus seven.
Quite frankly, I would be comfortable at nine and a
half on this line. Give me the Bengals to cover
a big number at home on Monday night.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
The Bengals are back. Who does it?

Speaker 2 (12:45):
There we go and that is an extended Friday Football
Frenzy Pick Them segment when we get back. Now that
hour one is done, Charlie Goldsmith Cincinnati dot com, We'll
