talk backs. Wet listen to the clouds. Give me a

(00:27):
bundance of bracker jacks. We hope those other two diver
come back over the rout won't hold him. Thefhing comes
close to the show.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
We got hack right, Hello the.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Stars over talk.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Back show rads Wild Radswell.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Welcome back since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Austin
Elmore with you talkbacks In just a moment, Let's clear
up a couple of Reds things before we continue on.
Charlie Goldsmith from The Inquirer did post this on his
social media. We talked earlier Joel McKeith and Terry Bradshaw
Tim Lamont, the three hitting coaches for the Reds. They

(01:19):
have all been fired. Charlie also says budget meetings for
twenty twenty five are at the end of October, which
will then shape the steps for this offseason. Charlie went
on to say that Matt McClain is open to moving
around positions including third base and center field. Spencer Steer
and Jonathan India will also play some first base and

(01:40):
third base. Elie de la Cruz is the shortstop. He
is not moving anywhere. Nick Kral says, quote, the outfield
needs to get better end quote. And as I mentioned earlier,
Julian Agiar is having Tommy john surgery. He will miss
all of next season. So that's the latest on the Reds.
We'll hear more on the Reds in about fifty minutes

(02:02):
when we talked to Mark Sheldon from MLB dot com.
We also know from Gordon Whitmeyer of The Inquirer that
the Reds will keep Derek Johnson on the pitching staff,
the director of pitching for the entire organization. He remains
under contract. The Reds will keep Derek Johnson. He will
return in twenty twenty five. All right, that does that.

(02:23):
Let's get to talkbacks right now.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
Wow, hold on, I'm leaving a talkback.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
I go back to the days of Sam Wish Forced,
Greg Sparky Anderson, Dolly Potton, morgana, the Kiss and Banded.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
I heard Taylor double down on his coaching buffoonery and
I quit all that. Let me ask you a question.
Do you think Taylor's players all laugh at him behind
his back the way we all laugh at multi personality
might behind his back?

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I think that was a marked impression.

Speaker 7 (02:59):
Yes.

Speaker 8 (02:59):
I'm sitting at a bar last night having a drink with.

Speaker 9 (03:01):
My buddy's watching the Guardians and the Tigers to play,
and you know there showing fans up on the big
screen like you to see these little kids, the jubiliation
on their face.

Speaker 10 (03:09):
Man, and they brought me back.

Speaker 11 (03:10):
When I was a boy when we won the World
Series and.

Speaker 12 (03:13):
Just how exciting that was and how starved.

Speaker 13 (03:15):
This city is for baseball playoffs.

Speaker 9 (03:17):
And I start thinking to myself, baseball playoffs is probably
the best playoffs.

Speaker 14 (03:21):
It's more affordable, you can take your family to the games.

Speaker 13 (03:24):
It's better weather, NBA and NFL. It's kind of exclusive.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, maybe I wouldn't know.

Speaker 15 (03:30):
It's up guys, Big Cahouna in Kentucky. As long as
we're five hundred five and five after team it will
go five and two or six the morning. We'll probably
get you in the playoffs down the stretch. I'm not
worried to the but I'll call them break the schedule
down later in the week. I'd be a miss if
I didn't call and congratulate Jason Thompson, a DIDA students
over at Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy, right now one of
the best athletes ever out of Southwest Ohio, and he

(03:52):
is now the head coach of the ABA inaugural Mazebal
Minors team. They say his pace in space of play.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
Is gonna be unbelievable in that league. Okay, cool.

Speaker 16 (04:02):
So I'm talking about Bengals memorable losses and I'm only
talking about regular season games that are memorable losses. How
would you rank what happened this past weekend among memorable
losses in the regular season, like the Halloween Night a

(04:25):
couple of years ago where Cleveland clocked US.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Yeah, I mean there's getting your butt whooped, and you
know that's one thing. It's tough losing close games. I
think back to the Packers game in twenty one where
they were back and forth with Aaron Rodgers and DeVante Adams,
Joe and Jamar and crazy field goal misses in that game,
dumb interception by Burrow, big plays by the Bengals defense. Like,

(04:51):
I think about that as one of those games, very similar.
I just saw the highlight the other day from two
thousand and nine, Brandon Stokely the up drill. That was
a killer. I have to think about that. But there's
been some tough loss the Houston Texans on a Monday
night when the Bengals were eight to er beating them.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
That was tough.

Speaker 17 (05:11):
Craig Sharonville.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
It's up Greg.

Speaker 17 (05:13):
The positive from Sunday's disaster for me was Joe's performance. Yes,
to me, he's back to the top of his game,
no worries about the risk finally, and.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
To me, with him as your QB, he always got
a shot.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Yeah, the ultimate like equalizer basically right right Greg, where
it's like, as long as you have him, you feel
like you have a chance. And that is the beautiful
part of you know, I can't wait for Sunday night
because Joe Burrow is going to give my team a
chance to win. And that's going to be the case
every game moving forward. It's just can he overcome their
own deficiencies on the other side of the.

Speaker 11 (05:50):
Ball years ago against the Niners, like Taylor takes the
ball at Joe Burrow's hands, says he loses sleep over
that decision. Week we're on defense has a stop to
run all game four from five, Zach Keler takes the
ball of Joe Burrow's hands, punt the ball. They lose.
Sunday overtime game on the line, Zach Keler takes the
ball out of Joe Burrow's hands. They lose. Are we

(06:11):
sensing a pattern? The problem is not Joe Burrow. The
problem is your decision making sat Taylor who that.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Yeah, I don't necessarily disagree with that. Hey, guys, back
with the rare double hip.

Speaker 11 (06:21):
I'm just want to say I appreciate you, guys. I
want to give you guys your flowers because you called
out the local teams when they need to be called out.
You hold people accountable that needs to be helped accountable,
and I appreciate that today.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Thanks Kevin, appreciate that, man.

Speaker 11 (06:36):
Man.

Speaker 18 (06:37):
I got to thinking with the firing of Robert Sala
in New York. This the first time this has happened
for the Jets since I had to resign nineteen seventy six,
but it led me to notre dame in the National
Championships of Robert Sala. Keep your head up.

Speaker 11 (06:51):
We need you in Cincinnati.

Speaker 18 (06:52):
Let's get him to the defensive coordinator.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
It may not happen this year, but he.

Speaker 18 (06:58):
Better be on the short list for next year.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Let's go all right, there you go, Robert Salad the
next Bengals DC. According to coach Lou Holtz.

Speaker 14 (07:06):
Hey, guys, Steve Montgomery, that is the defense has been.
Would it be any worse to give guys like Newton,
Tyson Anderson and Dashawn Anthony the starting jobs because it
just doesn't even look like it doesn't if they have
the smarts but they don't have the.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Speed to keep up.

Speaker 14 (07:22):
I'd like to see the young guys and see what
they can do, so at least next year we know
what we've got because those other guys probably are not
in long term plans.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Yeah, that's a fair point. I mean, I'm open to
that possibility. I would be surprised if that happened. I
don't expect that to happen, but maybe more and more
of them sprinkled in as as things go. Like Jordan
Battle got eight snaps yesterday and he had been getting
zero or one through the first four games. So if
you see some of that sprinkled in over the course
of the season moving forward, for those other guys, that

(07:53):
would make a little bit of sense.

Speaker 9 (07:54):
So Tony ew and mohead that poll question yesterday, what
would be the Bengals record after the next four games?
To me, the correct answer is three and six, maybe
two and seven, Who knows?

Speaker 13 (08:05):
I mean, what have what.

Speaker 9 (08:06):
Have we seen in the first five weeks? I would
lead us to believe that they would go three and
one or four ozero in any stretch. This is not
a good team. And who are we to turn our
nose up at any team and say, oh, that's obviously
a win win. Our only win is against the Carolina Panthers,
who just got beat by the Bears by thirty correct.

Speaker 19 (08:27):
Hey guys, Gina, here what am I was listening to
Chris Canty this morning? And I sure wish you could
have been on the show with him, because he was
ripping on Joe and the Bengals and how Joe for
being supposedly an elite quarterback? How can they be one
and four? Brady, Ma, mahmes, it's never been one and four.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
I was mad.

Speaker 19 (08:49):
We know we don't like Chris Canty, but anyway, wants
your opinion on that? If you heard it what he said?

Speaker 5 (08:56):
Yeah, I didn't hear it. I tried not to listen
to Chris Canty. I think he needs a significant psychiatric evaluation.
There's clearly some sort of cognitive issue with Kanty that
he can't seem to figure out.

Speaker 20 (09:07):
Tony Austin Jeorge in the Valley Height to the Guy
that wants to be me? Just ain't that easy?

Speaker 14 (09:12):
Bro?

Speaker 20 (09:12):
Seventeen seventy four days, sixty six, fifty six and six. Whoa,
and we won a Natty last year? Now what I
really want to talk about? In the Zach Taylor era,
the Bengals are fourteen and twenty eight and games decided
by less than a touchdown. Good stat Zach's Zach's the issue.
He's gotta go Whoda go Red?

Speaker 5 (09:34):
But damn man, crunch time play making or crunch time
decision making might just be an issue for one Zach Taylor.

Speaker 21 (09:45):
Hey, Yaudi, it's Adham Hi Adam, And you know I
agree with most of your takes that you have on
the air, even though you might not believe that. But
this matchup with the Columbus Blue Jackets, oh and the
Detroit Web bread Wings outdoors in the shoe, I'm excited you.

(10:06):
Being an Ohio state guy, I wanted to get your
take on it. I know I'm buying Dickens.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
Honestly, I did not know that that was happening, but
that sounds cool. I love the like Winter Classic that
the NHL does outdoors. That sounds really cool. I did
not know that was happening.

Speaker 22 (10:21):
Double dipper here, Hey, lou Anamo, you don't go without
punishment either. I was really a big fan of yours.
But I don't know, dude, I think it's time to
move on. I think you need some fresh freshness. Okay,
so uh yeah, I think we do too. All Right,
there you go.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Hey, Austin, talkback matters guy, Man, you'd make so much
sense to it.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
Kind of scary, but I agree with you.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
I do believe this season shot for the Bengals, I
really do. And I think the only thing, honestly we
got looked forward to is Red's baseball. And I know
it sounds crazy because they just hired the new manager,
but if the enter makes five or ten game difference
and he straightens out those one runs, there's no reason
why they couldn't make the playoffs next year.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I agree with that one hundred percent.
I mean, you kind of stole the thunder out of
my Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
God here hello Lord.

Speaker 12 (11:14):
And Zach Taylor's press conference, he had mentioned that the
defense was aggressive maybe three plays, the safety, the quarterback sack.
Were they aggressive when Lamar Jackson was backpedaling ten yards
and he threw it in the end zone and the

(11:35):
player caught it for a touchdown? Were the aggressive on
that play? What do you think in Zach? Open your eyes?

Speaker 23 (11:43):
Yeah, we should be three and two one in four manage.
Bad for my blood pressure. I'm heading to the doctor
right now. They and a Rumo should have been more
cautious in the second half.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
I agree with that.

Speaker 23 (11:57):
I had no idea von Bell would be this horrible.
Gino Stone really underperforming. I take defensive line and make
some progress. What a rough season.

Speaker 24 (12:12):
Shout out to Sincy three to sixty, Jacob here, what aout.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
The Bengals need to.

Speaker 24 (12:16):
Go try to acquire Hassan Reddick him and Trey Hendrickson
and try to help Hammer at home. With Miles Murphy
and the rotation and interior d line getting healthy, that's
only going to help the back end of our defense.

Speaker 3 (12:28):
Let's go get a win Sunday.

Speaker 5 (12:30):
Who Day, Let's go Hassan Redick is not playing without
a new contract. The Bengals will not spend that much
money on a defensive coordinator or a defensive end, and
certainly not at this point in the season. That stop
doing the Hassan Redick thing. He will not play without
a contract. He's making like almost twenty million dollars this
year and he's not playing.

Speaker 13 (12:50):
Honey, Helstein, it's you, buddy, the tuck back Cowboys. Bread
to your bag, grippers, get a grip, Helston, buddy.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Yeah, kind of grab. Yeah.

Speaker 13 (13:01):
Even the national talking heads like Nick Ratt, no fan
of ours and Dan Arslawsky are finding a way up
for us as long as we get to Have you
heard this before five hundred before the break?

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Hoday?

Speaker 3 (13:19):
All right, okay, cowboy, I'm smelling what you're stepping in.

Speaker 9 (13:22):
And Joe Denneman, no dumb would be to consider a
one in fourteen with a historically bad defense still a threat.
I mean, are we watching the same team? You guys
keep thinking that this is the same team from two
three years ago.

Speaker 13 (13:33):
It's not.

Speaker 9 (13:34):
They have lost a lot of pieces from that team,
and and you keep saying that they're you know, they're
still in it. So when when do you give up
on them? One in six, one and seven, one in eight, well,
one and eightpen up? Are you gonna still say they're
gonna ride off ten in a row?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Okay? Hey? Often what up? Marcus?

Speaker 7 (13:56):
Yesterday I made the comment that Luke should be fired.
I still stand on that. I think you should, uh
try and take an account of what you said about
the players and missing tackles and how it's hard to
coach that stuff like that. But at what point who
do you fire? I mean, you can't obviously can't fire
everybody on the defense side.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
We hunt the players.

Speaker 7 (14:17):
So you fire lou and dow Cobin, Do you fire Zach?

Speaker 14 (14:21):
What?

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (14:24):
I don't know that anybody is going to be fired.
I don't know that everybody should anybody should be fired.
To be completely honest.

Speaker 10 (14:31):
What's a body great job?

Speaker 11 (14:32):
Today?

Speaker 15 (14:33):
Is?

Speaker 10 (14:33):
SINCEKD from Middletown, thanks man. We can speculate on Sunday
if Zach Taylor would have did this different, this would
have happened, would.

Speaker 12 (14:40):
Have been a better outcome.

Speaker 10 (14:42):
All good. We can predict the future, we can do
all that. That's fine, But one thing I know for certain,
one hundred and ten percent, if the defense just gets average,
just average, they're gonna make the playoffs. And that's for start.

Speaker 5 (15:00):
I don't disagree with that. If they can get to
league average, they will be fine. I just don't know
what the path is to get there.

Speaker 8 (15:08):
DJ from Union loved the last segment with Daneman about
what is Kansas City doing?

Speaker 3 (15:15):
The model is there.

Speaker 8 (15:17):
You have to draft well and on defense, particularly with
the investment you have in your quarterback. The question is
why why can't we draft well? What is the problem?
And that until they fix that, we're going to be
in this situation. Who knows how long that love that segment.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
Yeah, thank you very much that. Yeah, appreciate that. That
does it for talkbacks. We are out of time a
handful that we weren't able to get to. My apologies
for that. When we come back. Football in the Natti
