Speaker 1 (00:00):
Carries on on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Is that time for talkbacks? Press the microphone, handvycord your
message for ustand and tone, please keep it clean and
don't be mean, and a sprinkle sprinkled drip drip. It's
that time for talkbacks. It's our favorite part of Sancy
three sixty Austin, buddy, play that talkback on your screen,

(00:29):
and please try not to Saba Taja.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
You know it is getting harder and harder to take
this freaking team seriously when one of our top cornerbacks
goes down for the season, and rather than going out
and get an approven commodity, we going, yeah, we'll take
the sixth round draft pick from the Colts practice squad.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Yeah, who'll be fine just patching in, right, Lou?

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I mean, I guess it's better to have those young,
dumb guys and those old slow guys. But my god,
let's come on, let's go secondary.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yeah. I get like, I don't know, you lose.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
DAC's defense has been terrible and the answer seemingly is, uh,
we'll just be better and use the guys that haven't
been playing much.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
I get it.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Well, dj Ivy's practicing Mike Hilton's coming back.

Speaker 7 (01:18):
Yes, yes, I'd like to hear from God today on
talkbacks because I'd like to know what his involvement is.
What since the name Bengals losing all these close games
were statistically they shouldn't be one and four and.

Speaker 8 (01:39):
Nope, not finishing that, Greg Sharonville Greg, so the Reds
they fired their three hitting coaches, they needed three hitting coaches. Well,
Nick Kral must be listening to the show because he
said from now on or going forward, we're gonna make
more contact, put the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
In play and hour second.

Speaker 8 (02:01):
Nick must be listening to the show because more than
once I suggested that I.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Don't doubt that they listened to the show. I was
surprised as I saw Moeger tweeted, I didn't know they
had that many hitting.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Coaches last year. Yeah, it's not that uncommon.

Speaker 9 (02:17):
I refused to all ride off the Bengal season because
they offense is too good. But what I need to do, Boom,
since I've been killing Vac Taylor as a poor game manager.
If hawking back to example example Super Bowl La Ram,
what was the best thing they did in a laugh
two drive in the game Joey Burrow all schedule scrambles.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
What couldn't Zach Taylor do?

Speaker 9 (02:39):
Divide him a run?

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Bro put that he him a run? Frustration setting in
even for Shannon.

Speaker 6 (02:49):
We we're blaming Zach Taylor. I'm blaming Zach Taylor. Is
that what I just heard?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
I'm blaming the play calling I am Yes.

Speaker 10 (03:00):
God, Heaven and being a vocal leader. Why doesn't some
of the other Bengals become more active in being vocal leaders,
like Trey Hendrickson, Sam Hubbard on the defensive side. You know,
Trey Henderson shows a lot of emotion on the field,
Why doesn't he show that emotion in the locker room

(03:21):
talk to the players being more of a vocal leader.

Speaker 6 (03:25):
Thoughts comment, Yeah, well, listen, we multiple times have asked
you to be a little bit more emotional. God, We've
asked you to be a little bit bring more energy,
bring more. He just don't have it in you. And
I think that sometimes is how it is for people
in leadership roles.

Speaker 11 (03:38):
Hey, guys, since we all know that the NFL is scripted,
let me let you in on what the script says
for the rest of the year for the Bengals. Joe
has a historic year as far as stats goes. Okay
pulls the team out of a historically bad start to
go on to win the Super Bowl and become the
MVP of the season and the Super Bowl and they

(03:59):
beat the Chiefs and AFC championship on what's say, quote
unquote questionable call that makes cheese fans heads explode because irony.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah, Whoday, I'm all for it. Okay, Now that's the positivity.

Speaker 12 (04:10):
Yeah, Hey, Tony and Audie Kin from Keenland. Wow my god,
it's a beautiful day for horse racing. The warblers are warbling,
the horses are beautiful, and the women are fast, and
I'm full of optimism. I got UK and Vandy this weekend.
Bengals are going to get back on the winning truck
against the Giants Sunday night, and all's going to be

(04:33):
right with the world. So hooday, go Reds and go
big Blue.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Better watch out, Kenny and Kentland. You better watch out
for that Vandy team. Kenny, it's a paintball googer here.

Speaker 13 (04:45):
And I just want to send positive vibes to all
the families in Florida and the Pathway of Milton. I
have nieces that live in Tampa, Sarasota and Venice. Wow,
and one of them just gave birth to a baby
girl at two am this morning at Sarasota Memorial. Luckily
they're going to hold them at the hospital and toe
storm passes make very best everyone in the pathway.

Speaker 4 (05:10):
Good luck with all of that. That is scary stuff.

Speaker 8 (05:14):
Hey Greg again, Uh, my brother Terry and his wife Jean,
they live in Sarasota. They are listeners, so Tony, I
do appreciate the shout out.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
Well, we appreciate them for listening and hope that uh
they they were able to get the safety and uh
the best outcome possible.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Guys Entertainment Sports Radio back to the Cincinnati area and
haven't heard it since the nineties.

Speaker 14 (05:41):
Thank you.

Speaker 15 (05:42):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Second, bond Delle was not brought back for his communications,
just the same old bangles. He was brought back because
he cost a million dollars.

Speaker 16 (05:54):
Great day.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
I think both of those things are true.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Austin.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
I love you, but bring your brain to work.

Speaker 12 (06:01):
Man.

Speaker 9 (06:02):
You can't hate team names like Utah Hockey Club and
love team names like.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
FC Cincinnati. They are the exact same thing.

Speaker 12 (06:14):
Oh, pick one or pick the other or whatever.

Speaker 6 (06:21):
Craig, I've been on this show for almost five years now.
I would love for you to go back in the
archives and find one time where I said I love
the name FC Cincinnati.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
There are often times I wonder with FC Cincinnati, like
why do I not have anything to say after I
say FC Cincinnati.

Speaker 6 (06:37):
Here's the thing, that naming style is common in.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Soccer.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
In soccer, it's like that across the world. In soccer,
most teams are named something along those lines. Columbus Crew, SC,
FC Cincinnati, Montreal FC, New York Red Bull like those
sorts of things.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I get it.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
I just said a minute ago I didn't like Washington
football team, but it grew on me a little bit.
I've never said that I like f C Cincinnati and
dislike Utah Hockey Club. I think it sticks sticks out
like a sore thumb. When you have teams like the
Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins and the Colorado Avalanche

(07:23):
and the Seattle Kraken, and then you've got Utah Hockey Club,
I think it sounds dumb.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Especially in hockey. That's like, Hockey's the worst sports.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Craig Fellow, He's been complaining a lot.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Hockey's the one sport. I feel like you could get
crazy too with.

Speaker 6 (07:35):
A name, right, Yeah, especially when we saw the list
of like YETI and all that other stuff where it's
like it sounds like a good name.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Yep, agreed.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
I've never once said I love team names like f
C Cincinnati. That is just a patented lie.

Speaker 17 (07:50):
Hey, guys, JD from Chicago. Thinking back to the nineteen
seventy one Cincinnati Rads, they traded away too stalwarts in
Lemeg and Tommy Helms to address some issues, took them
to a World Series once they acquired Joe Morgan and
Jack Billingham, and says our Geronimo, Bengals need to do
the same thing.

Speaker 18 (08:11):
Make a trade.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Okay, okay, who are you trading? Right?

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Who are you trading? Who tell me who you're trading?

Speaker 18 (08:19):
Hey, guys, Robin Dayton. It's unfortunate this team probably won't
make a move, but in a perfect world, we'd make
some phone calls. You have Khalil Mack, Max Crosby, Hassan Reddick,
these are all probably obtainable players. A strong pass rush
will always make up for the deficiencies in a week secondary.

(08:40):
If we're serious about a last ride with T Higgins,
then they better pick up the phone.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Now, I'm not disagreeing with you at all, day.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
Just a reminder, the Bengals currently have nine point five
million dollars in cap space. Nine point five million dollars.
Max Crosby and Hassan Reddick Khalil Mack them dudes ain't
coming here for nine point five million.

Speaker 19 (09:04):
Dollars, obviously, Jesse Bates walking. The idea behind that was
that we were going to keep him on tea. Not
looking good for keeping tea. So I guess my question
is what does our record have to look like before
trading T turns into a conversation? Aj Green Jesse Bates
both walked after the tag for nothing? If we're just
going to continue losing games. Yeah, and it has to

(09:25):
become a conversation at some point because we didn't franchise
him to be last In the answer.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
For yeah, I mean, they'll probably get a third round
pick out of Higgins signing no matter what, So the
conversation starts at a second round pick and a player essentially.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
Especially if something does happen with DeVante Adams this week.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
Yeah, and you got to keep that in mind. They're
essentially guaranteed a third round pick when he leaves. If
they can get more out of that, that's going to
be the conversation. If they feel like there's value, there's
not enough value in what teams are asking for, then
they might just let him walk. If you lose this week,
I don't know how you keep t Higgins on your
roster the.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
Rest of the year.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Yeah, I said earlier in the week with with Moe
on the Tony and Mo Football Show.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
You know I am.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
I'm starting to say, Okay, if they can find a way, somehow,
some way to get to five and four, maybe even
four and five. Anything other than that, I am selling.
I'm not holding on for this pipe dream of nothing.
I'm selling and I'm gonna I'm gonna rip it down

(10:32):
and I'm gonna get something out of these guys that
gives me something going forward to the future.

Speaker 16 (10:37):
Correct, Hey, guys, talkback matters guy. Hey, I know you
guys laughed at me last time. Your callers laughed at me.
The Bengals obviously in the top five as far as
NFL paying their their offense the rinked twenty second and

(10:58):
paying their defense. Everybody wants to blame Lou it's not
Loo's fault. Remember, you can only do with what you
can do with. And remember Lou was several candidate for
head coaching job. He did not your thoughts now, really
on this.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
He did not get one of those head coaching jobs.
And I understand that it's it's not just Lou. He's
got to have the personnel to a coach. I get that.
But at the same time, on a this defense shouldn't
be this bad.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
You can't. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
I just you can't sell me that that they are
performing at the level that is acceptable.

Speaker 20 (11:37):
Tonny Austin George of the value. Hey, Austin, explain to
me what you're talking about. When you say the chiefs
structure his contract in a way where they have less
money going.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Against the cap.

Speaker 20 (11:47):
You act like they figured out a way to, like,
you know, spend more money against the cap by the
way they structure his deal. And I know that's not
the truth. So exp what you're saying when you say
less money against the cap, that makes no sense.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
The way you said that, it is the truth.

Speaker 6 (12:01):
So they do these rolling restructures where they push money
down the line and they put more money into the bonuses,
like for example, his cap hit this year is only
thirty seven million dollars. Think about you know some of
the other quarterbacks across the league. You know that's up
there with them, but overall an average annual value a
little bit smaller. His average salary is forty five million dollars.

(12:24):
That's ten million less than Joe Burrow. So his base salary,
myhome's base salary this year is only nine point eight
million dollars. He got a six point one million dollar
signing bonus, and these are pro rated bonuses and restructure
pro rations that kick in later as roster bonuses happened,
So his roster bonus is seven point nine million dollars.

(12:47):
Bonuses don't work against the cap like those are other
ways to avoid paying money at cap. So you had
a million dollar workout bonus, a seven point nine million
dollar roster bonus, a six point one million dollar signing
bonus that he gets every year for being when it
comes back around, and then his base salary of nine
point eight million dollars. So they found ways to sprinkle

(13:10):
out the bonuses in ways that don't go against the
cat and teams do this across the NFL. When they
do restructures. When you've heard of restructures, that's what they're doing.
The Bengals don't do.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
That, could they?

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Yes, teams do it all the time, there's loopholes around it,
then why don't they?

Speaker 21 (13:26):
Yeah, that said Gino Stone, especially Von Bell, just so disappointing.
I mean, I think on the bright side, I like Murphy,
I like Jenkins. I think this defensive line, you know,
can get better. But the secondary is a frigging mess.
And I wish we could trade our two coaches for

(13:49):
the two Viking coaches.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
Man de Yeah, because O would the record Bengals record
be if they had Kevin O'Connell and Brian Flores four
and one?

Speaker 4 (14:00):
DJ?

Speaker 6 (14:00):
What would be if they had just Brian Flores at
least at least three and two?

Speaker 4 (14:07):
Yeah, DJ Union.

Speaker 15 (14:11):
I think where the Bengals are right now and the
frustration we feel, as Tony said, they need to take
a good hard look at what they're doing for evaluating
and bringing in talent, and I hope it brings a
fundamental change that we get excited about, just like the
Reds finally did bringing in Francona. That whole franchise now

(14:31):
has a different feel to it. Hopefully the Bengals wise
up and do something simpler.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
Yeah, I mean, it's amazing what the signing of Tito
Francona did to immediately immediately change the feel of the
Bengal or the Reds.

Speaker 22 (14:47):
How crazy is is that here we are in October
more excited about Cincinnati Reds baseball than Cincinnati Bengals football
when the last meaningful game the Reds played was on
September nineteenth.

Speaker 6 (15:00):
Hmmm, I'm just gonna try to implore people to pump
the brakes here a little bit. The Reds have a
TV issue that's going to be a significant amount of
money less than what they had coming in. They told
you all season long that they were injured, and they
essentially told you in the firing with David bell Is

(15:21):
that David didn't get a goo enough out of the players.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Yeah, but you see Mount McCain's night last night.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
What that means is that they are not going to
spend a lot of money. What they are going to
do is run it back with the same group. Hope
they're healthy, grab a couple bullpen arms here and there,
maybe sign a starter, Hope that Nick Martinez comes back.
They're not going to spend very much money, especially when
they're paying David Bell, not the coach. They're paying Francona,

(15:48):
I'm sure a very good amount of money to come
out of retirement. And they all season and so far
this offseason have talked about how they were hurt last
year and the players they did have weren't good enough
at the little things and we need a manager who
can get that out of them. Yeah, but that is
translation translation for McLean's included in all this translation.

Speaker 8 (16:09):
Four.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
We are not spending a lot of money. Terry Francona
is gonna have to fix all these current players. Correct,
That's what it is. Do not expect the Reds to
spend money. Not to say they can't be good, but
don't expect it to have.

Speaker 23 (16:24):
Tony Audi Adam from Camden got a bone to pick
with our current talkback president Johnny. Things are a dumpster
fire under this administration.

Speaker 21 (16:33):
Yep.

Speaker 23 (16:33):
The best thing he can do is offer us Skyline
gift cards.

Speaker 14 (16:36):
Well, in this.

Speaker 23 (16:37):
Talkback economy, I can't afford Skyline without those gift cards.
Things were a lot better under the previous administration, and
the Bengals were never this bad before Johnny walked In.
I think we need a vibary set. I think it's
time for a new election, new talkback president.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Let's go. That could be the only thing that saves
this Bengal season.

Speaker 14 (16:54):
Austin, I know this may sound weird on the surface,
but does Jake Browning have any trade value with Miami
and New Orleans and other teams seeing their quarterbacks go down.
Browning's on a controllable contract and he's proven he can
win games. Could he be a somebody that they might
consider trading to get some defensive help?

Speaker 6 (17:17):
Man, I think that he does have some value. I
don't know that the Bengals would be willing to move
off of him, especially when the rest of the offense
is so healthy. You feel like if Burrow goes down,
it's a lot easier to plug Browning in.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Man, we'll still be good. We're on the Browning conversation
point of the season.

Speaker 24 (17:34):
And happy hump day, Jacob. Here, what's up, Jacob Monday Night?
Bengals defense gonna have to come up with some stops.
I don't think our offense is going to have any
problems moving the ball. Giants got some playmakers on offense.
Elak Neighbors the rookie Wandel Robinson. She's got Devin Singletary.
If he's healthy, Daniel Jones can roll out the pocket.

(17:56):
The Bengals are going to have to clean up the
tackle on mistakes.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Without so good to win without a doubt.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
I saw an extra from Brian Dayball.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I don't know if you saw it or not. Austin
he was.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
He was talking about the draft and players that he liked,
and he had actually met with Nick Saban, and there
were two players in his meetings with Nick Saban that
Saban essentially said, these guys gave us fits in college.
One was Brock Boers, one was Maleak Neighbors. They went
and got neighbors, and it looks like an absolute home

(18:29):
run right now for this team.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Those are all great questions I asked to Zach today.

Speaker 22 (18:36):
But by tomorrow, can we please move on to the
Giants and stop looking backward.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
We have a game on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Well, Jeff Kelsey, who you hate, asked about Dexter Lawrence,
and Charlie who we love, asked about Malik Neighbors. Tony
God love Kelsey too. Hey, I'm praying for those.

Speaker 25 (18:54):
People down in Florida that are about to get hit
with that nasty, nasty weather. First UC game that the
year that was gonna be at UCF Man, we had
our plans, we had our traveling.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
And it's all canceled. So bumber. So maybe I'll think
move to the dead. Play that game up there. Nip
at night, baby, go Bearcats. Man. Nip would be nice,
nippt knight would be fun.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
Ex Unfortunately, if you look at the next home game
against Arizona State, that's another noon game.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
It's nip at noon. Now they don't even give us
night games anymore.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
TV man, Hey, guys, mark it from the groove.

Speaker 26 (19:29):
The next four games, I can see three wins, not
obviously not because of our defense, but I think our
offense is way better than those offenses. So the Giants
and the Browns and the Raiders, I think, and they
can get stopped on their own offense versus US getting stops.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
So I feel good about our.

Speaker 5 (19:53):
Next four Okay, I mean I felt good about our
first couple too, and yet here we are.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
Body, tone, what's going on?

Speaker 23 (20:01):
This school's come from the can enterprise.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
I ain't gonna hold back on these bungles. Let's go bogus.

Speaker 27 (20:07):
Honestly, I don't know how you can have this much
regression you pay your offense whatever. Top five in spending,
your damn defense is what twenty seventh I believe in
total spending. I mean, the writing was on the wall.
Everybody knew this was gonna happen. Duke Tobin, figure it out,
Zach Taylor, figure it out.

Speaker 4 (20:29):
I have one other thing that I was that was
our last one, So go ahead.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
Well, so I'm thinking about the Zach Taylor press conference,
and there was a point in the press conference when
he was asked about Jamar Chase and he mentioned that
the greatness of Jamar Chase is just getting the ball
in his hands and letting him do his things. He
talked about that quick screen where it was great blocking
but he took it to the house.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Yeah, born to do that. Are we not picking up
what's wrong here?

Speaker 5 (20:59):
That same guy that you talk about getting the ball
in his hands, you didn't do it on the last
drive of the game. And we have no reservant, no
no second guessing to that. Perfectly fine with how the
last bit was handled. Like, to me, what are we doing?
Those things don't add up. That does not add up
to anything for me. If that's your guy. If it's

(21:21):
all you gotta do is get the ball in his
hands and watch what he does. Then, in the most
meaningful snaps of the game, get the damn ball in
his hands. It's ridiculous. Football in the Natty is next,
ESPN fifteen thirty. Thanks to our friends at You're disgusted today,
I'm sick of it. I'm sick thanks to our friends
that since he shirts on the home of the Bengals,

(21:42):
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
