wardrobe is at Cincy Shirts. Let's get to the talkbacks.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Reagan, the newly hired
head coach of the President's basketball team that has entered
the Redding Memorial Day Tournament. This is h with my
starting lineup. I have that center Abraham shot sinking Lincoln
at forwards, we have Lyndon Baines Johnson the original LBJ,
and Andrew Action Jackson. Wow, the shooting guard will be
(01:48):
Calvin the Silent Assassin Coolidge, and my point guard is
John Quincy Adams Junior.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Third.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
That is so nicely done, Former President Reagan. One small
issue is at the tournament is three on three. But
that's a nasty rotation. If you throw yourself in there,
you get, you know, three guys on, three guys off.
I like that.
Speaker 7 (02:08):
Happy Friday, Audi, Man, what a great what up test
was yesterday? My son Harley got to be at his
first Reds game ever. His big brother kJ shown him
all the cool stuff ball parking inside the Hall of Fame.
Such a great day. And hey they even won too. Man,
Just just awesome. And hey, that person's leaving these talkbacks
(02:29):
with the bye bye bye for Diz and the starter
from the bottle Spitzer steer. Man, they're like Michael Jordan, straight.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Money, right man, I'm telling you what. Uh yeah, that
was awesome man. It was cool to see your pictures,
uh that you you posted. I'm sure that's a pretty
awesome moment for you as a father. That's cool to.
Speaker 8 (02:49):
See and they're off and they're out of the gate.
Speaker 9 (02:53):
It's slate.
Speaker 8 (02:54):
It's it's wow, and it's neck and neck, and they're
rounding the tournament's it's wow, it's slate. And out of
nowhere comes standpoint. It's standpoint. M wow, slate And across
the finish line comes standpoint and standpoint is your Kentucky
Derby winner.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Wow. That is well done. That is very well done.
By God. You know, I I need to start doing
you know, I'm sure Tony's not listening, but we should.
We should start doing this together, you me, all of
us listeners. How many times he says standpoint? Because there
(03:36):
was a show earlier this week where I think I
had it at like fourteen times he said it. That's unofficial,
that's an unofficial number, but I think he had gotten
up to like seven in the first hour of the show.
So that's something to keep an eye out on.
Speaker 4 (03:54):
Now.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
I'm not here Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday next week. Tony's out Monday.
Trags is going to fill in on three sixty next week.
But you guys, maybe work on that a little bit
maybe for me, report back to me. See how many
times he says it. I think that's a good idea.
Speaker 10 (04:12):
Fila Hank Hill here.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
And fella, I'm wow.
Speaker 10 (04:16):
I got a couple shout outs, first to my buddy
Covin and Northern Kentucky taking his family down to the
ballpark yesterday. Looks like y'all had a great time. That's
what it's all about. And plus brought home a winter
shout out to the fellow that did the en synct
talk box had me cracking up. Let's take care of
these gnats. Let's get in there like swimwear. Let's get
(04:39):
on them like wine on a church dress.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Go on with it. My dad used to say, like
rust on a Ford Pinto.
Speaker 7 (04:46):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I like that one. Yeah, the gnats, the gnats up
off mount healthy something.
Speaker 11 (04:55):
I got a mount rushmore of things that are overrated, okay,
as guacamole, tequila and Zach Taylor's play calling.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
How dare you?
Speaker 11 (05:08):
I mean, that's a great list in my humble opinion.
I hope you guys enjoy some bourbon this weekend. Some
men and julibs who da.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Mo elf mo, thank you for the talkback. I mean,
I get you know, there's a decent number of IPAs
that are overrated. I think that's fine. I try not
to drink much anymore these days, but I like tequila.
Guacamole is fantastic. How dare you Moe and Mount healthy?
And then to say that Zach's play calling is overrated,
(05:40):
wouldn't you say it's underrated the amount of people that
hate him and hate his play calling and completely complain
about it constantly, I would say it's the opposite. I
would say it's underrated.
Speaker 12 (05:51):
Jacob and Anderson, j Nick Krawl, I think deserves a
little bit more credit than what he's been given. Our
ownership group does not want to spend, so he's had
to creative. He signed Amelia Pegan, Nick Martinez retained Tony
Santion back in twenty twenty three to a minor league contract. Yes,
you have the Will Myers and the Candelario deals. However,
Gavin Lux, Austin Hayes, there's a Travino, Austin Win, There's
(06:17):
a lot of other guys.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
I can't even mention. You brought in Espinal too. Yeah,
you're right, I agree with you, and I think part
of the reason why they've fired David Bell was because
they felt like he wasn't getting enough out of the
talent that they brought in. Then they bring in Francona
and they give him even more talent to squeeze the
juice out of and Francona has been done a good
(06:38):
job of that. The problem is always going to be
that on your big swings and misses, you've really hurt
the team, Like, where could that money have gone that
Candelario is making and he's produced basically nothing the money
that Will Myers. I mean, they at least paid him
to go away relatively quickly. But when you're spending that
(07:01):
much money and you can't you already don't spend. You
have to be able to hit on these guys because
then it comes down to your big off season acquisition
is a five million dollar prove it deal to Austin Hayes.
And yes, if they had paid Austin Hayes fifteen or
twenty million dollars for two or three years, we'd be
(07:23):
complaining about the fact that he's always hurt right now,
I get it, But think of the other avenues you
could take to address the shortcomings of the roster if
not for those big swings and misses. That's ultimately what
Krawl is going to be judged by because yes, and
(07:43):
whether that's wrong or not, I don't know. It's hard
to do his job with the parameters that he has.
I think we all agree with that. And he's made
some really nice acquisitions and built up the farm system
and he deserves credit for that. But ultimately, you're judged
by your ability to win and lose at the major
(08:03):
league level, and the biggest swings have been misses for
him so far at the major league level, and that's
an issue.
Speaker 13 (08:12):
Ah Pot, Simon Pike and my lucky brother Adi, your
friend of mine Pete Rose has been on my mind,
Charlie Hussell recently. And you know I once made quite
a bit of money from.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
The casino business. Yeah, let me.
Speaker 13 (08:28):
Tell you, Old PD's quite the friend of the casino ode.
I think I'm gonna get this parting to happen and
looking to get him into the Hall of Fame. Finally,
I'll also be renaming the Oval office.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Nicely done, mister president. Yeah, you know, I think that's
kind of a topic that's slipped by the keeper this
week for us uh. In case you didn't hear, Rob Manfred,
the Commissioner of Major League Baseball, said that he met
with Donald Trump a couple of weeks ago about various topics,
including visas for Latin born players, and that's sort of like,
(09:08):
you know, some of the immigration aspects of Major League
Baseball and also Pete Rose. And you know, Trump has
repeatedly said and picked up the I don't know the
word I'm looking for, but he has gone to bat,
for lack of a better term, for Pete Rose a
(09:30):
couple of times, especially after his death. Now, Pete had
some legal issues and stuff for fraud or something taxing.
He went Trump saying, pardon him for that. Well, that's
a Trump thing that he would have to do. But
ultimately Trump is saying, put Pete Rose back on the ballot,
which this could have been done at any point a
(09:50):
long time ago. But basically he's trying to say, lift
the band for major League Baseball so that you can
work together with the Hall of Fame to put him
back on the ballot. I would assume, based on the
way Manfred talked about it, that it's going to happen.
I would assume based off the conversation with Trump, and
(10:13):
he openly said I will make an official ruling, and
he also said Manfred that I've been talking to the
Hall of Fame so that we're in lockstep. That gives
me the feeling that he's going to remove Pete Rose
from the band list and reinstate him. That's my guess.
Speaker 14 (10:33):
I ought to tell you the futures right for the Reds.
They're pitching great. I mean, their hittings a little questionable,
but that's okay. They need to beat the Cubs and
the Brewers when they claim they always seem to struggle
with that a little bit. Shout out Jalen Bronson, he's
so clutch, great balance. He can play on my team.
(10:54):
Shout out to the Pistons after being so terrible last year.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeahs there a fun team, man. I mean in Mo
made reference to this on his social media too, like
every time they got knocked down, they would come right back,
like they just did not quit. Last night was the
first full playoff game that I've watched in the NBA playoffs.
I've watched snippets here and there, but I haven't watched
(11:18):
a ton of it, to be honest. What an awesome
game that was in Detroit, back and forth, up and
down all around. It was awesome.
Speaker 15 (11:27):
Hey body, just another Jeff your trip to Atlanta brought
back memory from me way back. I guess it was
early eighties. Went to visit a friend in Atlanta, went
the game at Fulton County Stadium and Dave Parker was
taking off that day and he had a perch at
the end of the dugout when we sat right there,
kind of had a conversation and got to watch pretty
(11:48):
much a whole game with Dave Parker. He was so
nice and kind of talked to us most of the time.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
It was awesome. Wow, that's really cool. That's a fun
experience right there.
Speaker 16 (11:59):
Hey, Austin, talkback matters guy. What happy Friday? You too,
Man's doing a great job.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
Thanks.
Speaker 16 (12:05):
Just want you to know that on the Reds, I
hope the management doesn't sit back and do what they did.
And twenty three I think was or was it twenty four.
Either way, it was one of them where they didn't
go out and get no damn help. And you know,
they had this team trying, and they've got a team here,
(12:25):
they've got a team, They've got a skipper. They need
a bopper, go get.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yeah, I'm right there with you. And that was one
of the moments I regret I hand up. I was
wrong on that when when I said, you know, kind
of set up for the future and just enjoy twenty
twenty three, I wish they would have gone and got somebody. So, yeah,
you would hope you would think that with the amount
of money they're paying Francona and just in general his age,
(12:50):
and with the clock ticking on Ellie de la Cruz
and with a few other guys that you don't necessarily
know what their future is going to look like, you
would hope that there is a certain amount of aggressiveness
that's part of the Reds plan moving forward. Austin, great
job on the today, sir man. And that must be
(13:10):
quite a load off of you not having to carry
Tony just kidding. He's all right once in a while.
Speaker 9 (13:18):
Hey, yeah, yeah, I think he's Red.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
You're going to do all right this year. This is
going to be a season for him to build on
and they're looking pretty good.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Uho.
Speaker 3 (13:25):
Seattle roster finally settles out, and if we can get
through some of these funky injuries, we'll be all right.
Maybe have a go on, enjoy your weekend, buddy. I
thank you, man, I appreciate it, you too.
Speaker 15 (13:38):
The Red's early season MVP gotta be the catching platoon.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Yeah, I would agree with that. Hey, Austin, Jeff and
you were rich. Well, Jeff, I hope.
Speaker 17 (13:49):
You have a great weekend. Hope you have a great
week off next week. Relax, you definitely deserve it. Maybe
bring home a couple of Reds wins from Atlanta would
be cherries on top of the cake. So enjoy yourself,
have fun, and be safe.
Speaker 16 (14:07):
Take care.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Thank you, man, I appreciate that. Thank you.
Speaker 16 (14:11):
Guacamole's amazing, Tequila is amazing.
Speaker 15 (14:17):
Zach Taylor's play calling is at best.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
And every IPA just absolutely sucks. Oh, come on, not
every single one. And there's some decent ones out there. Hey, awesome.
What do you think the chances are they get that
game in tomorrow? Supposed to go, but I'll know what
to do. And has there ever been a whole series
right out before? I'm sure there has. I would have
(14:45):
to look it up.
Speaker 18 (14:46):
You know.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
I was telling this story I was on with Scott
Sloan earlier today that in the years I used to
be the producer for Mike McConnell, one of the perks
of that was that I would get like the full
forecast from Jennifer Ketchmark in my inbox every morning. So
here's what I got for tonight. Let's see here. Scattered
showers continue, overcast and muggy. Looks like a sixty percent
(15:12):
ish chance of rain tonight. Let's see what else we
got here. Damaging winds and wind gusts are the top concern.
This could impact the mile race tonight and the Reds game.
Chance for rain on Saturday is nearly one hundred percent,
but the big question how many hours of the day
is it going to rain? Says the most likely chances
(15:34):
afternoon and continuing for the afternoon hours with nearly widespread
coverage of rain. Temperatures to increase is sixty three degrees
due to the clouds, but there is a potential window
of opportunity in the morning for the Toyota ten k
and all the other races. Here's what I've seen so
far that Saturday night, according to Jennifer Catchmark, showers fade
(15:56):
its overcast, still muggy, low fifty two. Tonight, scattered showers continue, overcast, muggy,
low fifty six. So from what I've seen for Saturday,
it is supposed to taper off as nighttime approaches and
the Reds of course have the ultra rare six forty
(16:16):
Saturday home game tomorrow night. So that's that. I don't
know if I really helped at all during any of that,
but there there you have it, all right. That's our
last talk back of the day. When we come back,
we will choose a winner for the Cincy Shirts gift
card and our talkback of the week. That's next. This
(16:36):
is Sincy three sixty hour two, brought to you by
our friends at Cincy Shirts right here on the Home
of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirtyy Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Make us the number one pre set on your car
radio and on the free. New and improved sixty continues
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Welcome back since e three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty. My
name is Austin Elmore bridon solo today. No Tony Pike,
but we've got an opportunity to give away a Cincy
Shirts gift card to our talkback of the week, and
you have a chance to win every week. All you
got to do is submit a talk back. If it's good,
(17:26):
we'll save it in the hopper. As Tony likes to say,
and we'll play it. We have a handful of them
coming up to play for you right now. After that,
the Postman Law injury report, and we'll get to Tommy
g the voice of the Orange and Blue, will join
us as FC Cincinnati looks to keep the good times rolling.
That's coming up in just a minute, But first let's
(17:49):
get to the talkbacks from this week. Who greats the graders?
I'll tell you what I do. I give it a ten.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
The consistency is perfect, the scoop of the mouthfeel, the taste,
the texture, all the quality of ingredients. It's the ten
every time. And I fund He said soft serve in
there too. They don't have soft serve, buddy, go to
a local creamy whip if you want soft serve or
did he say self serve?
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Who grades the graters, talking of course about the NFL
draft grades and then he turned it into graters the
ice cream? Well done?
Speaker 18 (18:27):
Are concerned? I believe in a multitude of them, my
favorite being upstick Lark is a lizard persons daily to
my underwater for up to ten minutes.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
It's so unbelievably good.
Speaker 9 (18:45):
Word the Uthy Hill. Yeah, we're currently hiring medical assistance,
the clean bedpans and Jake Perk's out of bed sheets
speaking of soiled cheeks, avoid bearing way if they're still
cleaning up multiple accidents from over the wheat Kid expect
major delays, impossible closures on the roads to Santa Clara.
(19:05):
That there are multiple projects along the way that Taylor
recommends taking two seventy five and staying on that.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
I'm at ezelic, at ezelic with traffic. Oh, that is superb,
great job, Eduardo. Could one hundred men beat a gorilla? Yeah?
One d p.
Speaker 12 (19:23):
That's only if the floors Mark lines set men up
on how.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
To beat the gorilla.
Speaker 12 (19:28):
And uh with all his absurd contradictioning cakes, I think
the only flowers Mark has got recently are from slick.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Willis has its. Yeah, that's good there, that's good there
from our guy Timmy. If I'm not mistaken, who left
that talk back? It's good stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
I see you kids checking.
Speaker 13 (20:02):
I let's see you out that.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Doorgie just got Oh the Alexis dis bye bye bye
(20:25):
in sync Backstreet Boys, whatever it is, that is so good.
Speaker 10 (20:29):
Hank Hill here, Yeah, rough day at the ballpark for
the local club Chase Patty, keep your hat up.
Speaker 16 (20:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (20:40):
I think Nico Harrison's probably feeling a little bit better
about himself today. And I think Loud Talkbox Guy is
he's a Sincy fifteen thirty gym ho tay. I enjoy
all of his talk boxes. And I also, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
That is a Hank Hill impression of loud talkback Guy.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
Five games, five game winning streams.
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Oh, I forgot about that one. That's a good one.
So I'm kind of stuck right now. Between the five
game win streak and Eddie Zelik on the road to
Santa Clara and Hank Hill with his impression of loud
(21:38):
talkback Guy. Those are all really good man, you know what,
I think the other two have already won. I don't
think Hank Hill is one yet, He's here every day
an impression to one of our goats, one of the legends.
You know what, I'm gonna give it to Hank Hill.
(22:00):
Hank Hill gonna be our Cincy Shirts Talkback of the
Week winner due to his incredible impersonation of Loud Talkback Guy.
Speaker 10 (22:10):
Hank Hill.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
Here.
Speaker 10 (22:12):
Yeah, rough day at the ballpark for the local club.
Chase Patty, keep your hat up, yeah, I think Nico
Harrison's probably failing a little bit better about himself today.
And I think Loud Talkbox Guy is he's a sincy
fifteen thirty jem hot Tay. I enjoy all of his
(22:35):
talkboxes and I also, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
It's so good. There's so much just little stuff in
there that's just fantastic. Uh So, yeah, congrats to Hank
Hill our winner for this week with his Loud Talkback
Guy in person. He also said the local club, which
I'm partial to because I say that all the time.
All Right, that's since the Shirts winner. Let's transition over
(23:03):
to our Postman Law Injury Report delivered by Postman Law
Injured Postman Delivers. Well. We got the news earlier in
the show that the Reds have officially put Austin Hayes,
left fielder, on the ten day injured list with that
left hamstring strain. Charlie provided some context a little bit
(23:24):
earlier in the show when he said that there wasn't
much of a workout that Hayes went through and testing
it before the game, just a lot of talking to
the trainers, So not really all that much of a
surprise that Hayes goes on the injured list now. It
is retroactive to April twenty ninth, which would suggest that
the Reds would be able to get him back in
(23:44):
about a week or so. But in the meantime they're
gonna carry three catchers. Tyler Stevenson comes up, joins the
big league club. He joins Jose Travigno and Austin Wins.
That's where in Major League Baseball I mentioned earlier, Mike
Trout has gone on the injured list with a bone
(24:05):
bruise in his knee. The New York Yankees have put
Jazz Chisholm Junior on the injured list due to a
right oblique strain, and they have also moved Gian Carlos
Stanton to the sixty day injured list. Tough news here
for Griffin Conine, the son of former big leaguer Jeff
co nine. He had to go under He had to
(24:27):
undergo season ending left shoulder surgery. In that one. Speaking
of sons of former big leaguers, how about Ryan Weathers,
the son of former Red David Weathers. He is beginning
a rehab outing for the Marlins and was fantastic in
his first rehab outing. Another former Red making his brewer's
(24:51):
debut due to some roster shuffling by Milwaukee. Is Daz Cameron,
the son of former Red and former Brewer Mike Cameron,
has joined the big league club with Milwaukee. Milwaukee, what
else do we have here? Anything else going on? Anything interesting?
Luisa Rise and Jason Hayward have both returned from the
(25:14):
injured list to join the San Diego Padres. Rise, of course,
was injured on a Sunday night baseball game in Houston
on a collision at first base, So something to keep
an eye out on. Clayton Kershaw is in a rehab
start with the Dodgers. He has now stretched out the
five innings, and they place Tyler Glass now on the
injured list with right shoulder inflammation. I'll tell you the
(25:35):
Dodgers have had a ton, a ton of injuries to
their starting rotation. And Cotel Marte, the outstanding second baseman
with the Arizona Diamondbacks, he goes on the injured list
with a strained left hamstring. So a lot of injuries
right now across Major League Baseball. We've got time to
(25:56):
sneak in a phone call, but first I should tell
you that that was Today's Postman Law Injury Report delivered
by Postman Law Injured Call eight four four Postman. All right,
let's go to the phones. If you've done this before,
you know, I don't always know because I'm producing my
own show, I don't always know who's on the line.
(26:16):
So we're gonna go to the caller online too, right now, caller,
what's your name? What would you like to talk about?
Speaker 4 (26:23):
It's Mike.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
What's up? Mike?
Speaker 4 (26:26):
What's up? Daddy? O?
Speaker 3 (26:28):
What do you know? Man?
Speaker 4 (26:29):
You're doing a great job. I had a big surgery yesterday,
so I'm just kind of laying here time.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
How you feeling.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Well, I'll tell you, well, a procedure yesterday was the
worst thing I've been one of the worst things I've
been through in my life. It was a freaking nightmare.
But no, I'm wrestling pretty comfortable. I'm just kind of
still out of it.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
But good to hear your wrestling, and it's good to
hear your voice.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
And it's great they always hear you, guys. I'll tell you,
I told you many times how instrumental you guys and
molaw on helping you get through this nonsense. So and
I mean that from the bottom of my heart, So
thank you. Yeah, I didn't see anything yesterday except I
(27:22):
did catch the end of the Clippers game. So the
Reds were off yesterday, right, No, the.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Reds had a day game yesterday. They won nine to one.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Oh good over the Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Cardinals, Yeah, final games, So they split the four game set.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Cool and now Washington, you said.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
Yep, three game set this weekend with Washington.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
They got a couple of dangerous starters, if I recall that,
are pretty decent.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
Yeah, the Reds are going to face two of them tonight.
They've got Mitchell Patrick, a big left hander, and then
on Sunday they play McKenzie Gore, who I think leads
the majors in strikeouts at the moment.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
That's what happened down in Miami. We met a couple
of buzzsaws. I'll never forget that time a couple of
weeks ago when you guys talked to Joe d and
he said, the Reds are going to have to figure
out a way to beat good pictures. Remember that he
was adamant about it, and and I but you know,
probably every teams like that. When you think about it,
(28:24):
the more you think about it, the better pictures are
going to be harder to beat than do those. I'm
shocked at Gavin Lux right now. But the reason the
Dodgers got tired Agavin. I'm happy for the guy is
that he was. He just got hurt a lot out there,
and they got a bunch of infielders coming through the
