(01:38):
by our good friends at Sincy Shirts. No better way
to get geared up for the fall football season and
the playoff run in baseball than with our good friends
at Cincy Shirts. Let's get started.
Speaker 7 (01:51):
Tony Pike, bear Cat, Boring bred A, Joe Happer even
won a red man.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Ain't that the truth?
Speaker 1 (02:00):
What's up town? What's up addie man? This trade Henderson
thing continues to be one absolute mess. They needn't get
something done. I mean trade him extending do something.
Speaker 8 (02:12):
This is getting old, but I guess you can quote
Ronnie ron on this and say it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Bengals. I just want to see him get out of
their healthy toil. I take care of guys and who they.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Are all right there with you. Just get out of
this game healthy tonight. And I don't anticipate much going
on with the Henderson thing. I just don't. I don't
think it.
Speaker 7 (02:31):
Sends so guys Victor Hone in Kentucky, all right, don't
agree with them? Want it blames management on the trade
Henderson situation. I was listening to the Jungle Theater pod
last night and they said that they blame management.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I just disagree.
Speaker 7 (02:43):
I think they gave him an opportunity to trade in
at the draft and nobody wanted him because nobody wants
that second.
Speaker 9 (02:50):
Year guarantee, and the Bengals don't. They're gonna try to
trade now. Nobody wants into that. He needs to play
for his seventeen to retire. They just don't want him
for this second year. He's not what he thinks he is.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Yeah, if you've listened to this show at all, we
certainly have not blamed Bengals management. Now. I think there's
some things they could do differently, and I do think
they're kind of at a point now where I think
they should just do it. But I don't think this
the root cause of this issue is the Bengals front office.
I don't think so.
Speaker 10 (03:21):
Tony and Austin Adam and Mount Adams happy money. The
talkbackers thought the Reds played pretty well. He just can't
commit six airs in two games and expect to win. Still,
avoid the sweep ended their winning streak. Big West Coast trip,
gotta start off with a win the night A bit
of a hot take, but I think our best players
out in right field. He's been incredible, went out there
(03:42):
with without complaining. He's been great to play, He's got
a cannon for an arm.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
He's been good in the sixth spot. But I think
it's time we move him up.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
I agree with you one hundred percent. My hottest of
hot takes is that Noelvie Marte has a higher ceiling
than Ellie daily Cruz.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
A quick double dip.
Speaker 10 (03:57):
But how about the Orange and Blue A huge to
take over the supporter shield lead with seven matches left.
Shout out to our supporters. It made it out the
Portland that was That was cool to see. And how
about Evander. I can't recall more like I'm him moment
in Cincinnati sports than scoring a long distance highlight reel
goal in front of your old friend fans.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Who've been booing you on every touch and you hit
them with the I can't hear you. It was cold
as ice. Jim from Ross, Where are you at?
Speaker 11 (04:24):
Evander?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Man, that was awesome. I did fail to mention that
at the beginning going out west getting a big three
points huge for FC Cincinnati.
Speaker 12 (04:36):
It's the Lord on a Monday? What up Doug Austin, Tony?
I was wondering if you were doing any hiring. The
Lord's work isn't challenging and enough. And I was just
seeing if I could either work time work full time
like Austin, omore part time like Tony Pike, or quarter
of the time and on remote like Moegar. Let me know.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Yeah, the Lord Ward's work, he said, it's not challenging enough.
Speaker 13 (05:03):
Hey, fellas, it's Fannie Tony.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
I had to call in, man. You know, last time
I called in, I didn't.
Speaker 8 (05:08):
I didn't cynthony enthusiasm from Alton.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, something the heck with it?
Speaker 10 (05:12):
But anyway, I'm back because yesterday Austin was whining and
crying about how the resident Alfo's entire life.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Man, Well, Austin, does that make you like four years old?
Speaker 14 (05:21):
Man?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Did you forget about the.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
COVID playoff rads?
Speaker 10 (05:25):
Man?
Speaker 1 (05:26):
And how about the Reds of your youth?
Speaker 11 (05:27):
Man?
Speaker 7 (05:28):
What twenty ten, twenty eleven.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Twenty thirteen? What are we doing?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Twenty ten Reds got no hitting the playoffs and lost.
Twenty eleven they didn't make the playoffs twenty thirteen it
was the Quato game. Twenty twelve. We all know what happened.
There had a huge lead in the nlds and blew
that twenty twenty that got to the playoffs, did not
score a run, lost to Atlanta. Haven't been back since.
(05:54):
I'm not wrong, brother, Oh.
Speaker 11 (05:56):
My drum too, Holy Camdy swim. So the ref got game.
They've got some rep. They will carry it with us
through the final stress.
Speaker 10 (06:10):
Even if I'm Trouberfield.
Speaker 15 (06:13):
Just have to reach.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Devon rolling. Its don't get swelled.
Speaker 16 (06:19):
Debon Rollers all swelled to ahead, keep the season alive.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
Wow, I was touching tray still once more money. We've
heard the call.
Speaker 17 (06:35):
O Katie's dreading to ship in the Cleveland. If money's
all he wants to ball, we need quite a wall.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Our front office got some goll Seriously, we.
Speaker 17 (06:52):
Need Trey if we're gonna go for a super Bowl
this season.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
If not, we're gonna need a.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Legitimate, huge Hall of player.
Speaker 15 (07:00):
Be stick newly minted Hall of Famer Tony.
Speaker 18 (07:09):
Soda pop Pug.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Sorry I haven't called to say so.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
But here we go.
Speaker 15 (07:18):
What is going on with Trey Hendrickson the Bengals? Why
is a half to come down to all this mess?
Let me know you guys, have another best day ever?
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Thank you.
Speaker 19 (07:31):
Happy Monday, Tony and Austin Jim from Ross. I'm asking
you to check out the best little hot sandwich shop.
From my standpoint, I just ran into the backfield serving
up your favorite shredded meat sandwiches from the backfield lineup
roasted or grilled, piled high on locally famous toasted o
Line buns.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
But hold on, they're.
Speaker 19 (07:50):
Topped with mounds of melty Duke keys Swiss cheese.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
The backfield, easy and easy.
Speaker 19 (07:55):
Out, open all the time, never any waiting, never any lines.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
That is incredible. Somebody open up the shop.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
Be sick. It's the mail man with the double dipper, wasn't.
Speaker 7 (08:12):
Going to be on the show.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Give him those well wishes, will you? You guys have
another day? Well?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
If I know Tony, I know he's listening right now
and he's appreciating your well wishes. Carl Line at the
Loan shooting too.
Speaker 16 (08:28):
Hey Audie, happy Monday. Hey, this is the common talkback matters.
I agree with so much that you're saying it's kind
of scary. We agree alive, but I honestly think that this.
I know we said this about when they went to Chicago,
but I honestly believe that this.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Road trip will be the tail to tay it. I
believe if they do well on the road trip, they'll
do good.
Speaker 16 (08:51):
And what's stopping them from still going out and getting
somebody They are still in trade, I mean do something.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
No, they can't. The trade deadline is come and gone.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Bodie v MWG. Come man, I have a question for
you today.
Speaker 20 (09:07):
Is it unrealistic to have the expectation of going into
a Bengals season where there aren't just gaping holes in
question marks?
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Is that just life in the NFL? Or is that
just unrealistic expectations on my part thoughts.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I don't know that there's any team right now that
feels like they are one hundred percent certain at every
single position, even the Philadelphia Eagles. I was reading this
morning about how the Eagles don't know what to do
with their second cornerback spot to the point where Cooper
dejen has been taking cornerback reps I should say, on
(09:48):
the outside for their cornerback number two. So that's an
area of concern. There are offensive line concerns across the league.
There are defensive line concerns. The Colts just signed a
cornerback this morning, or some trades over the weekend guys
trying to beef up different positions and tight ends and
defensive tackles. So I do think part of it is
life in the NFL, where it's it's just hard to
(10:11):
build a team. And the other part of it is,
unfortunately for the Bengals, it does feel avoidable. Like even
if if they had signed one of those free agent guards,
you would still be a little bit worried about Lucas Patrick,
You'd still be a little bit worried about the depth,
You'd still be worried about Trey Henderson and the other
defensive pass rushers. You'd probably still be worried about safety.
(10:33):
So part of it is that the Bengals bring it
on themselves. Part of it is that it's not that
uncommon across the NFL.
Speaker 15 (10:45):
Audie, what up, brother, it's Mads and seven.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Listen. I can tell you why people are excited and
you should be kind of hopeful that the Reds are
semi winning because for my entire.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Thirty six years.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Yeah, you already you say that you were on the
air earlier, you settle this.
Speaker 21 (11:02):
I don't see your views on the Reds as being
negative at all. I see them as being realist. The
rest of this city is just full of Homers who
think everything is rainbows and butterflies, when in reality, this
team needs help.
Speaker 12 (11:15):
End of story.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Well, thank you. I just try to be honest, man,
that's really all it is.
Speaker 22 (11:20):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Reagan and whatever. Well,
the Reds should have swept the Brewers this weekend were
it not for those three blown sieves. Thankfully they salvaged
that one game last night, or else we would have
had to send in the National Guard just to settle
the Reds fans down. And by the way, the Reds
are about as relevant as cassette tapes, calling cards and
(11:42):
two dollars bills. It's time for them to change that narrative,
but they have not done so yet.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Awesome.
Speaker 14 (11:52):
I want to commend you on that awesome, unbelievable monologue
you gave Friday night after the Reds collapse after an
eight to one lead against the Brews. It was so
on point, and thank you for having the courage to
say all of it because it was right on point.
And I don't get frustrated with the Reds anymore.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
They are who they are.
Speaker 14 (12:09):
They're just a circus of franchise. I get frustrated with
the fans in the city who don't have the guts
to say it, and they still just keep making excuses for.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Them, year after year, week after week, month after month.
Thank you, ohdie.
Speaker 22 (12:24):
Bill.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
In Westchester, the Reds looked so tight on Friday and Saturday.
Speaker 18 (12:28):
It told me that the Brewers owned so much space
in their heads that they've got enough room to build
winter homes for the whole forty man roster, and they've
still got enough room left to sublet some to the pirates.
Like Francona's got to get them to play loose and
just do what they do and have fun and not
be so scared of the Brewers.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, I think that's a good observation, Bill, And you know,
I felt like I was hoping that Friday was the
breakthrough when the damn kind of broke in scored those runs,
because they looked like a team that was so prepared
and so focused in that second inning. But the moment
they got the big lead, you could see them tighten
(13:11):
up and they were afraid to make a mistake. And
that's not how you want to go against the Milwaukee Brewers.
That's not how you want to play against any team
like those at bats in the first two innings against
Milwaukee Friday were the best at bats I've seen this
team take all season long. They were fighting off tough pitches,
they were getting their pitch, they were handling it. They
(13:31):
were slapping the ball the other way. They weren't trying
to pull it, and they weren't trying to hit the
ball a thousand feet. They were just taking what the
pitcher gave them. They were waiting out Jacob Mazeroski. They
did a great job with d L. Hall when he
first came in, and then from that moment on you
could tell they tightened up. They didn't get a hit
the rest of the game, and they slowly but surely
(13:52):
screwed up. And it's you're exactly right, Bill, And then
he got guys.
Speaker 14 (13:57):
Calling in, you know, happy that the Reds didn't get
sweat and if they took one out of three when
they really should have swept them, swept the Brewers themselves,
and instead they walk away with one and lose their
thirteen series in a row to the Brewers. I mean,
that's what That's just what the fans are happy with.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
They'll continue to make excuses for him.
Speaker 14 (14:14):
Then you guys guys saying, oh, we do have a
power here.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
We got Ellie I think at.
Speaker 14 (14:17):
Nineteen home runs and tied for fiftieth in the league.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
He's not a power here.
Speaker 14 (14:20):
Then you guys got said we have a great farm system.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
This farm systems trash.
Speaker 14 (14:25):
What are you talking about.
Speaker 8 (14:29):
I was eating at Jeff Ruby the other night when
I noticed mister Tom Brenneman enjoying a nice juicy.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Filet cooked to a perfect blue.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
I ever heard him telling the waiter, you know, Dad
has had our hard time let go of broadcasting since retiring.
He actually broadcasts games from his basement on the Red
subren So two him Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
I thought, I play clip for you. Here's the pitch.
Speaker 8 (14:48):
It's on the ground, the flip to Aaron de la
Cruz gets one the throat of first and this one
is blown by the reds.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Okay, and from Latonia.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
I'm worrying about who they man.
Speaker 23 (15:03):
Imagine having one of the best offenses in the NFL,
and we still don't know who's gonna start on the
offensive line. Oh and by the way, we have no backups, guys,
go down screwed. Defense still need safeties and corners. The
guys get hurt every other week or get burnt. What
are we gonna do seasons about the start? Let's figure
(15:26):
it out.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I'm right there with you, man, I'm right there with you.
Speaker 24 (15:31):
Hey, Rodie, it's Adam and you know, I'm kind of
wondering if maybe Joe Burrow didn't go to management and say, look,
this Hendrickson thing. The guy's a jerk, he's a cancer
in the locker room. Let's get him out of here,
get him on the field. We're tired of dealing with it.
It's time for the season to start. I mean, maybe
Chase and Higgins got a little bit of a slide
(15:53):
because of the history and then being both offensive guys.
Do you think that's something that may have happened.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
I do not.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
I don't think that Joe sees Trey Henderson as a
cancer to the team. I don't know that anyone really
sees him as a cancer to the team. I don't
think he is a cancer to the team. Joe and
him talking to the media tonight is going to have
an opportunity to do what he did before. He hasn't
really done that with Trey yet. I don't think anything
(16:22):
really has changed all that much, but I think it
was put out there by Trey's people that the Bengals
are still listening to trade offers to try to expedite
the process. I don't think Burrow said anything to management,
And if you remember earlier this year, Joe said he
doesn't want to be in that position, doesn't want to
be a guy who's having influence over those decisions. Now
(16:42):
maybe I think maybe we can all could wish sometimes
that he was, but he says he doesn't want to
be a part of that.
Speaker 25 (16:48):
Austin, hope you had a great weekend.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
Thanks man.
Speaker 25 (16:50):
I left to talk back on Friday, saying that I'd
be okay with FC Cincinnati getting three points in Portland
and the Red's not getting swept at home. Sure enough,
that's how it went down the vander in a case
for MVP revenge game three goals in the first half.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
They did a great job holding on with the Reds.
Speaker 25 (17:06):
I think the way that it went down Friday and
Saturday were demoralizing, So them coming back and getting a
clutch ninth inning run and walk off in the tenth
that's about as good as you could have expected after
the first two games.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
Fair enough.
Speaker 10 (17:20):
Hey Austin, why can't the NFL have salary arbitration like
baseball does.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
It's a good question, probably because nobody likes it.
Speaker 26 (17:28):
Hey, it's Joe from Casey here. I'm excited to see
what our starting d can do tonight. Hopefully they step
up and don't look in at like last week. Also,
I do agree with your last guests you had on
that said our detackled depth is good.
Speaker 3 (17:42):
I agree he's right about that.
Speaker 26 (17:44):
I'd say the only thing we're missing are a couple
starting D tackles, but our twos and threes and rotational
pieces are great.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
We're hearing some good things about Chris Jenkins this year.
We've seen a little bit more. If you remember, he
got hurt right the started training camp last year, was
dealing with that thumb injury and had surgery. Well, I'm
curious to see how he performs tonight.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Awnie, what up? It's ice. You're mister ESPN. You're on now,
You're gonna be on till two thirty this morning. When
do you sleep? By the way, shout out to my
man Richard's get a great interview with him. He's always
an awesome interview on my podcast.
Speaker 3 (18:16):
Tonight.
Speaker 27 (18:18):
What does the right guard look like? My question is
the secondary? When I watch it from the bridge, they
look really good. Will that translate to tonight? We got
some of the starters back, We'll find out. What's your thoughts?
Are we gonna be good or not?
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yeah, I'm curious to see what it looks like with
Cam Taylor, Britt and Dax Hill on the field. They
are going to play tonight, and we do expect them
to play against Washington starters. Now, it's not gonna include
Terry McLaurin, who does have a big role in that
commander's offense. But you would think that the commanders wouldn't
easily get separation that this time around as easily as
(18:56):
they did last time around.
Speaker 25 (18:57):
Listen, don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about the
losing thirteen straight series to Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
That's pathetic.
Speaker 25 (19:03):
That can't happen and it has to change. But with
the context of how we lost Friday and Saturday, coming
back to when on Sunday did please me?
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Anyways?
Speaker 25 (19:12):
Moving on, Kentucky's getting a football team, basically the TIMU Bengals.
I'm very excited, may even get season tickets. What do
you think I'll dress up as a barrel to go
to the games.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
I can roll with that.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
I'm sure they'll I'm sure they would love that.
Speaker 28 (19:27):
Hey, Austin, Jeff and your Richmond happen to John day two? Yeah, Hey,
so I can understand where Rodney's coming from. My tend
to lean more on the side of Mike in la
and with what maths and seven was saying. You know,
I think you know, the Reds will always have those
(19:49):
fifteen thousand people that will show up no matter what.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, I mean, there's there's no doubt about that. What
needs to.
Speaker 28 (20:01):
Happen is we need to fire Nick Krall. We need
to find someone in that Milwaukee organization that would make
the transition over here and continue to build what it
is that Nick Krall started, because I don't think he
has the brains to finish it and make it a
(20:23):
true contender year after year. So have a great day, Take.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Care, Jeff, thank you. Yeah, there's a good article on
MLB dot com that was written over the weekend about
how the Brewers have kind of built their organization and
the philosophy that they have and how they hired a
guy from the Tampa Bay Rays that kind of brought
that philosophy to them. They brought in an external voice
and a whole new mindset after they moved on from
(20:50):
Craig Council. I think the Reds could benefit from the same.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Tier box shot a Moon from the Ding Good to
see it Saturday.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
Yeah, got good news for you, Bud.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
The stains in my Jimmy Joey Harball Michigan jersey, they
all came out the fact that I bought that jersey
just to get OSU fans riled up, and the anger
that that jersey brings makes that purchase even that much
more worth it. Go Blue, Bye bye.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Yeah. John Moon showed up to the fundraiser for Roman
on Saturday at Oakley Green's wearing a jim Harball Michigan jersey.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
Austin, you do a wonderful job. You do a great show.
Love listening to you.
Speaker 25 (21:40):
But feel free as soon as you hear that first
strom of the guitar.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Just fast forward, please.
Speaker 26 (21:49):
I can't get back those thirty seconds in my leg.
Speaker 24 (21:55):
Hey guys, I just want to say home plate balls
and Strice on Pire is the worse I think it's
ever been.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Yep, yesterday Kee.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Brian Hayes in at tenth inning. I mean the umpire
should have bought him dinner first. At least it was awful.
I think it's time to bring the electronics strikes on it. Yep,
I agree with you. I agree with you hundred percent.
I think the state of Major League baseball officiating is
as bad as it has ever been. Last night or yesterday,
Mike Esterbrook was the homeplate umpire. If you go to
(22:25):
his umpire scorecard, he had an overall favor of one
point thirty nine runs for the Milwaukee Brewers. He was
just accurate on just eighty one percent of his called strikes.
The major league average is eighty eight for umpires. Not good.
Speaker 13 (22:43):
Hey, guys, could be in a great weekend. Do you
think we can trade Elliet over the offseason and get
some good players for him, because he just seems like
he's a defensive liability. He makes some great plays, but
he also makes some bone hidden play and his hitting
is not getting any better.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
What do you think, Well, you're wrong about his hitting.
The power certainly has gone down, and he is dealing
with a quad injury that we found out about. But
his hitting has gotten better. He doesn't strike out as much.
He walked more. He's making more contact. He's not hitting
as many homers, but his hitting is getting better. Defensively,
he's just wildly inconsistent, and he had kind of evened
(23:27):
out for a while there, but then he had a
rough stretch against Milwaukee. Could they trade him? Yeah, sure,
