Speaker 1 (00:00):
On ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome back since e three to sixty, Tony Pike here
with you on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks
to Cinty shirts. Uh you know what time it is.
I I've talked about it because I'm excited about I
had a chance to go last year. AEW is coming
back to the Brady Music Center for AW Dynamite on
Wednesday of next week and then AW Collision on Thursday,
(00:36):
and we are lucky enough to get a few minutes
here with the president and CEO of AW Wrestling. He's
been on the show before. He joins us again. Tony
Cohn is with us. Tony, what's up?
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Hey? Thank you for having me on. It's great to
be back with you guys. I'm so excited about all
the great things happening in AEW. I think that AAW
is having a fantastic twenty twenty five. So I'm just
really excited to be back on with you guys. Talk
about AEW. Of course, we do every Wednesday night at
eight pm Eastern, seven pm Central is what it is.
(01:11):
Also before all of you there, it't APM Eastern obviously,
and it's going to be really really exciting.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
We've been over in Chicago doing the show for a
few weeks and had fantastic run of shows on Dynamite
and Collision, and we had a great run there and
we just went to Cleveland and now we're coming this
coming week to Cincinnati and tickets have I think pretty
close to sold out. There may be tickets for Wednesday left.
(01:37):
There's still some tickets for Thursday. We're doing two nights
and Wednesday is pretty close. It's sold out. If you
can't make it, you can watch it live on TBS
next Wednesday on TBS or even stream it on HBO Max.
It's huge, it's worldwide, it's in one hundred and fifty countries.
AEW Cincinnati's own hometown star, John Moxley, the form four
(02:01):
time world champion and AW greatest world champion maybe ever
in world wrestling. The only guy ever an old AW
World title, the WWE World title, and the new Japan
IWGP World title is John Moxley. And he's gonna wrestle
the Jet Kevin Knight, who's an exciting young star who
had a confrontation with Box last Wednesday. That's gonna be there.
(02:22):
In Cincinnati this Wednesday, and we'll be back the next
night next Thursday at the Andrew Brady Music Hall in Cincinnati.
And thanks for having me on to talk about aw
and maybe some football, because I love your show and
I love talking with Tony because I'm a big Tony
Pike fan as a human being, as a host, and
as a former Bearcats quarterback.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Well thank you for that. How are things? I mean,
we got an opponent, this is a Jaguars Bengals is
going to happen early in the season. What's the quarterback
depth chart right now in Jacksonville looking like? Is a
room for maybe a third team guy that can just
still do a radio show and then just show up
on game day?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
You know, I hopefully maybe if you get stop by
the radio booth, we'd love to see you there. But
the quarterback room is very competitive, and we've got a
fantastic starting quarterback with Trevor Lawrence. I love working with
Trevor Lawrence and being around and he's such a positive
guy and he's such a great player. You guys have
a great player there as well.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
So it's a it's a fantastic situation for everybody that'll
be a great game. I expect really good things for
the Jaguars this year. We got a great group, a
great new coach, Liam Cohen, great new GM James Gladstone,
Tony Decelli working with me and everybody in the front office,
and and a great group of players and staff. So
I'm really excited about it. I think for the fans
(03:44):
in Jacksonville, they're pumped. Travis Hunter coming in is a
big deal on both sides of the ball, so it's
going to be a great year, I think for us, Tony.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
When when I think of of Cincinnati, I think of
wrestling events that I went to as I was growing up,
and I've had the opportunity to go to. I went
last you when AEW was obviously in town. Why does
it become important to put Cincinnati when you talk and
you chart out your map for each year. Why does
(04:12):
Cincinnati always become one of those stops that you want
to make sure to get back to.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
Well, it's and I have to be totally honest. First
of all, it's because of a great fans and the
person who introduced me how great the fans of Cincinnati
are from day one. Because I know Cincinnati is a
great sports town. And so if you're running an international
wrestling organization like AAW, it's based in America, you're going
(04:40):
to want to go to Cincinnati and do shows in Cincinnati.
It's a big deal and that's why we're doing two
shows there later this week. We had great events earlier
this year in January for the Maximum Carnage shows. But
we love going to Cincinnati because the person who introduced
me to how great it is that it's not just
one of the top sports towns. It's more than just
(05:00):
one of the top thirty two cities for the NFL
and elite sports town for top thirty for Major League Baseball.
That's like one of America's premier cities. We all know
that about Cincinnati, that it's a great city, but John Moxley,
who's been with AW since day one, has told me
how great Cincinnati is. And John Moxley is a major
(05:21):
promotional focus for AAW. He's been the world champion time
after time dominated AAW and he's one of Cincinnati's top
sports stars in any sport. He's known all over Cincinnati.
He lives in Cincinnati with his wonderful wife, Nay, who's
also a great host in aew and is a great
(05:42):
wrestling mind and personality in her own right, in addition
to John being one of the all time legendary pro
wrestlers and I really think one of Cincinnati's great sports stars.
So that's a big part of it for us, and
it's why we love coming there. And it's a big
deal that mox has a big match coming up on
(06:03):
Wednesday night Dynamite. He had a great match this Wednesday.
He's having one of the best years of his career
and he's still at the very top of pro wrestling.
And we have John Moxley wrestling the Jet Kevin Knight
on Wednesday, and then we'll be back for a huge
show Thursday. Like I said, Wednesday tickets may at this
point be sold out. You maybe maybe a few left
for Wednesday, but you can watch it. If you can't
(06:24):
make it to the Arrie to the Andrew Brady Music
Hall next Wednesday, you can watch it live on TBS
and everybody you can't make it, you should watch it
eight pm Eastern on TBS or you can stream it
on HBO Match or both. And then Thursday we'll be
back for Collision. And I'm actually heading to Roanoke, Virginia.
(06:44):
We've got Collision tomorrow on TNT. It's on an eight
pm and it's gonna be a great show. Hangman, who
is certainly a generational rival for John Moxley, who took
the world title from John Moxley, is going to be
a huge match coming up on Collision tomorrow at eight
pm on TNT. And then we're bringing Collision Thursday there
(07:06):
to Cincinnati, and uh, you know, Tony Man have could
get you in the ring, you know you, You and
mox or too of Cincinnati's top sports personality. So we
got to get you in the same place. But if
you better watch outter that mox is out there could get.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
I've seen it. I watched I watched it th Man
last week. I know how serious it can be. Is
this from top to bottom, because I'm just scrolling through
it right now, top to bottom. Is this easily the
strongest that Aw's roster has been right now?
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yes? Yes, absolutely, right now? Twenty twenty five is the
best aew You's ever been. We talked about some of
those great stars, whether it's John Moxley, Hangman Page, certainly
Will Osprey, Swarft, Strickland, MJF, Timeless, Tony Storm, Mercedes Monet,
Kenny Omega has returned, but he had a great match
(07:58):
and after this amazing I'm back. He just lost the
International Championship to the Continental champion, Kazusko O Kata, who
unified the championships. There's so much exciting stuff happening in
AEW right now, and I do believe AW is where
the best wrestle and I think in twenty twenty five,
(08:18):
AW is the best it's ever been. And we're coming
there to Cincinnati for two shows next week again next
Wednesday and Thursday. We'll be in Cincinnati, and you can
watch us every week Wednesdays on TBS and on weekends
on TNT, just like tomorrow night for Saturday Night Collision.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Awesome, awesome stuff. I know how busy you are right now,
but the easiest way for those listening to just get
themselves to where they can purchase tickets for Wednesday or
Thursday and next week at the Brady Center.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Yes, my friend is aewtix dot com, aw tis dot com,
or you can go to the aw website and find
it there. And we're at AEW on most of the
social media platforms, so you can keep up on the
shows and buy your ticks at ae W tix dot com.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Tony, thank you so much for your time. I genuinely
appreciate it. You have to say hello as well, your guys.
Third string quarterback in Jackson right now, John Walford from
wake Forest was my brother's roommate. He played with John.
He was a tight end at wake Forest as well,
so I'm glad to see John on your guy's depth
chart as well. That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
I will send my best. He's a great guy. We
have a great quarterback room. He's a great part of
it with our you know, he's a experience with our
coach Liam Cohen, and I will definitely pass it on.
John's a great guy, so that's very cool.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Man, Tony, thank you so much. The president and CEO
of ae W Wrestling, Always appreciative of your time. Have
a great weekend and enjoy next week in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Hey, thank you. I'll see you guys next week. Thanks
for having me on to talk about aw coming next
week to Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Love it, Love it. That is Tony Kahn. This is
since he three sixty. You're listening on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati sports station. Tom Galota is next. Our daughter Jesse
loves playing Detective a clue, but.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Since we discovered she has sensitive skin, we've been playing
detective too.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
We thought the problem was our puppy.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
But it was actually our old detergent aha, so we
switched to tide free and gentle. Tide Free and Gentle
provides an excellent tide clean and it doesn't leave behind
irritating residues like dyes or perfumes, so it's gentle on
your skin. Case closed. If it's got to be clean,
it's got to be tied free and gentle
