guess that's the frustrating part Austin.As good as the Reds have been,
you know, they flashed up onthe screen yesterday the four best win streaks
in baseball. Reds were one,Orioles two, Yankees were three, and
the Milwaukee Brewers were four. SoRed's going a great run. Milwaukee's still
playing really good baseball. They havea six and a half game lead on
the Cincinnati Reds, but right smackdab in the middle of the wild card

that is the news that b J. Thompson is alert and awake after a
cardiac after cardiac arrest that took placelast week went in went into UH cardiac

arrects arrest, suffered seizures while ina special teams meeting at the Chiefs practice
facility, and it was said Austin, the vice president of sports Medicine,
said it was Harrison Butker that ranout of the meeting to get the team's
medical personnel so that they were ableto get to b J. Thompson immediately.

He was in cardiac arrest for aminute to a minute and a half.
Scary stuff. Uh, this onthe heels Austin, It's going on
right now. Bob Mangean who joinsus each and every week from Novacare.
His grandson passed suddenly due to asudden cardiac arrest a couple of years ago,
I believe almost four years ago asthe dates coming up this week,

and spoke at at an event lastnight with Bob and Matthew's family part of
the Matthew Mangen Junior Foundation. Itis it's insane to hear Austin, one
high school student athlete is losing theirlife every three and a half days to
a sudden cardiac arrest. Wow.And the numbers, And I mentioned the

minute minu and a half the AEDdevices that were used on DeMar Hamlin.
If you can get that device onthe athlete or the person within three minutes,
the survival rate is incredible. Andthen every minute that goes by after
that. I heard stories last nightat the DeMar Hamlin situation and just how
many people just crushed it. Imean, you go through these plans,

but to go through it as DeMarHamlin did, and obviously as bj Thompson
did, great to hear that hehas awake and alert after the cardiac episode.

It was Drew Holliday that had twentysix. And Jalen Brown or Jason
Tatum seems to be getting a lotof heat. Not sure why, and

Twelve assists and nine boards, Yeah, that's pretty good along with eighteen points.
Now, people like to hate,just to hate, they do.

It's crazy they do now. Thedepth of Boston, it's it's apparent the
Dallas role players just aren't getting itdone. They got it done against Minnesota,
They're not getting it done right now. Now. What they say Austin
is those role players they thrive athome. So this game now shifts,

the game last night? I caughtthe very tail end, So there was
a play with about fifty seconds leftthat Dallas gets a steal. They're down
five. PJ. Washington goes upfor a dunk. I thought he was

fouls. It was a no call. Yeah. If if that either goes

think it's different. I don't knowthat we're talking about the WNBA no One.

do think that the whole conversation haskind of devolved into some sort of a
cultural race thing between Kaitlin Clark andthe WNBA. I don't think we're talking

I don't know if the people,like the casual fan just assume that Caitlin
Clark was going to walk into theWNBA and be the best player, and
they're struggling to figure out that she'snot and some of these other rookies are

the players that were already in theleague had a problem with that idea.
I don't know what it is.We're not focusing enough on the actual games
and how some of these players areplaying, and more focusing on how's Kaitlyn
Clark respond to this or what doesthis woman say about Caitlin Clark. Yes,
Caitlyn's the one who's she's the strawwho stirs the drink. But also
it's still a very entertaining league rightnow, and we're missing some of the

because when Boston, if Boston hasa team that plays slow and Luca likes
to play slow, they're able toget their defensive defense set and they are
a nightmare to score against. It. It's just a bad, bad matchup

in here because I think because yesterdaylooked, they know the Boston didn't play

over his last seven with seven runsbatted in. He struck out just five

and then Friday night Nick Lodolo tookthe mound and he won as well.
Nick Loodolo six innings, four hits, one on run, two walks,
seven strikeouts, and talked about thisbefore Reds got on the board.
First scored early enough. Tyler Stevensonhad an RBI two run double in the

a little bit concerned about the bullpen, a little bit concerned. Emilio Pagan
goes back on the injured list.Prior to yesterday's game, David Bell said

he won't be back until after theAll Star break. With the latch strain,
Alexis Diaz just does not look good, like he's nothing to draw on
consistently for the year. Yeah,I don't know who you feel best about
at the end of games, becauseFernando Cruz probably has the most talent,
but his role is that first guyout of the bullpen to extend the game

and give you a chance. He'sexcellent at and I don't necessarily want to
remove him from that spot. BrentSouter very well may start tomorrow's game.
And it be a bullpen game.And I think you like what you've seen
from Carson Spyers. Lucas Sims hashad his own control problems and given up
long ball problems. I don't knowwho I feel best about at the end

of the game. You know,like Buck Farmer always gives up a walk
in two hits, but he somehowgoes as scorely. Yeah, but like
I just I don't feel good aboutAlexis Diaz and the Reds have luckily turned
the tide on some of those closegames, but man, I don't know
that you can feel confident with himmoving forward right now. That's concerning to

me. Yeah, that that isa fair concern, and it's a conversation.
We'll have more about the pitching staffSaturday. And what you and I
both described on Friday as the beststart time available for a Reds weekend game.
It's the four to ten start broughtmore winning for the Cincinnati Reds.
It was a slow start for AndrewAbbotca Dansy Swanson double scored Cody Bellinger in

the first and then that was ituntil the sixth. The next three runs
came off an answer immediately in thebottom of the first from Jamer Candelario on
a home run, the TJ.Friedel home run in the bottom of the

early in the game. He threwjust fifty five pitches on the day,
and inning in a third, fivehits, four runs, three walks,
and two strikeouts. It was threeto nothing before the Reds could even take
their first bat of the game,due to a three run RBI double off
the back of Reds killer Ian Happin the top of the first. Cubs

added another in the bottom or thetop of the second. And then you
mentioned at Austin. Carson Spears comesin, he goes five and two thirds,
four hits, seven strikeouts, noruns allowed. Brent Souter comes in
a perfect inning. Buck Farmer comesin a little trouble somehow doesn't give up
a run. But you look atmon Toss yesterday and any of the third

four runs, and you tell theReds team and the way the offense had
played as of late, Hey fiveis gonna win this game? You would
still take that. Oh yeah,Luke Maley hit a home run yesterday.
I do question a little bit.Santiago Espinal hits a single in the seventh
that scores Spencer Steer. India getsthe third and Espinal's thrown out trying to

stretch it into a double. Don'tI get that they're aggressive? That didn't
seem like the time, because itfelt like they were mounting something. They
were finally starting to hit a littlebit. It finishes four to two,
and again the Reds out hit elevento five. That seemed to be a
theme of the weekend. They somehowwon the first two games despite being out

hit. Spencer Steer, Jonathan India, Santiago Espino, and Luke Maley combined
for the five hits for the CincinnatiReds. I look at yesterday's game,
as you know, rough start fromFrankie Muntas and Shota I. Monaga was
just awesome. He was just betterlike yesterday. It was like one of
those games where the Cubs are abetter team today. You want to sweep.
It's not good. It's not funto lose. You had some opportunities.

The espinall play sticks out. Butit's just one of those days where
the Chicago Cubs were a better baseballteam yesterday. But we can also again
the Reds have gotten themselves somehow backto thirty two and thirty four. And
it was for a moment there yesterdayit felt like five hundred was there for
the taking. But here's the interestingpart about and let's say this before I

get to the interesting part. Theone thing that I did struggle with Muntas
yesterday, Austin Immenaga came out andthrew eight pitches in the first inning,
went right after the Reds hitters.That was the first time the Reds have

have it on a day like yesterday. Couldn't throw strikes. Don't know if

Yeah, that changes the whole thinkingif you're Pittsburgh for sure. And I

Hey, we got these pictures thatcan win us a playoff series. Yep,

up on the Cubs, Reds,Giants, and Cardinals, who are all
essentially tied for the last wild cardspot. And then there's three teams behind

that just came to a halt.If you still look though they've won eight
of their last ten, they haveabsolutely gotten after it. That's tied for
the best ten game span in MajorLeague Baseball with the New York Yankees.
They have played themselves back into theconversation. Do you remember when they lost

two weeks before that everyone had kindof written Saint Louis off. And if
you can have that one to twoweek stretch where you just play really good,
you play yourself right back into things. And that's what the Cardinals had

four from the Cubs. They haveplayed themselves right back into where they need

to be. But with all ofthat happening rather quietly, there has been
some interesting developments with the pitching stafIt started with Graham ass Craft going down
to Triple A and when Graham Asscraftwent down Austin, everyone said the same
thing, right, Hopefully that meansBrandon Williamson is close. Brandon Williamson is
now on the sixty day injured list. He's not close. Emilio Pagan is

gone, not expected back till afterthe All Star break. And I do,
like I'll say, I love whatthe Reds have from the top of
their rotation standpoint right now, withhow good Hunter Green and Nick Lodolo and
even Andrew Abbott have been after that, are you starting to feel any level

of concern? Mon toss up anddown. There's been a lot of good,
but a nodding like yesterday kind ofbrings you back to that realization that,
you know, let's be honest,how much do you concern yourself with
montass just hasn't gone a full seasonin a long time? Yeah, Where
is his level of endurance at?Where is the arm strength at? As
he does something and gets into unchartedterritory because he's missed so many games.

You mentioned Alexis Diaz. We couldtalk about more bullpen arms. Is there
a conversation or a concern at leastin your opinion, with the pitching staff
for the Reds. Yeah, tome, I'm I'm a little bit concerned,
a little bit concerned because Montas asyou mentioned, health three out of
ten, four out of ten.Health has been an issue over the course
of his career, and he's beenreally inconsistent this year. He had that

one really really good start. Itwas against Colorado. They're not very good.
They have some guys and tough placeto pitch. I get that,
but they're not very good. AlexisDiaz I don't trust whatsoever. Put Gon
back on the injured list. Williamsonno timetable for his return. Ian Jabou
continues to have setbacks. Not likehe's coming back. Nick Martinez inconsistent,

awful as a starting pitcher, notvery good or much better coming out of
the bullpen. Graham Ashcraft is goingto have space down in Triple A to
figure out his issues. No onereally seems to know how long that's going
on. Mean, in baseball,I think it's like aship. It is.
It's a relationship with the big things. Graham needs to go figure some

things out. But now, ifyou're the Reds, can you afford to
give him very much space before yousay, okay, we need you to
come back up here now. CarsonSpiers has been wonderful over the last few
starts. He struggled earlier this season, but you don't have as much confidence
in him. I wouldn't walk acrossthe street to see Buck Farmer pitch,
Unfortunately, I've done it a coupleof times now. But I think it

almost feels like to me, likethey're holding it all together right now.
It's been good enough, and youmight be able to survive with Green,
Abbott and Lodolo if they just kindof continue down the path that they're on,
which has been solid. They're notdominant, but they're solid. Okay,
you have a chance in three outof five games. I get that,
and maybe it's more of a bullpenday until then, you know,

a bullpen especially this week two daysoff. The suitor has had some success
in that. Martinez has had somesuccess in that. Okay, maybe if
you go back to plan A andNick Martinez is a starter again, I
don't know. I mean they've kindof done that in the past, where
Martinez comes in in the second orthird inning or whatever it might be,
or even in the first inning.So I do feel a little bit of

concern there, I really do.I don't think it's unwarranted. Yeah,
I just maybe I'm I feel betterabout the bullpen than I do the starting
rotation, but I don't feel goodabout Alexis DS and that is not something
I want to go into a stretchof games against National League Central opponents,

very very important games in which that'sthe case. All fair right now when
you look and you have conversations aboutthese Cincinnati right and on top of that,
Hunter Green was supposed to start tomorrowand they've pushed that start back and
that's just to get some rest.And that's with the big picture in mind.
And I do get that. AndNicolodolo has missed some time with injury

already this year. Andrew Abbott willprobably have a couple of those moments.
It's where maybe they skip a starter, they give him some extra days.
They've already done that at times thisyear. So can they continue to do
this and keep gas in the tankfor a stretch run? Is a little

in the fact that it is genuineconcern for the Cincinnati Red It's not an
