(01:35):
March First, we'll talk about March Madness. We'll talk about
the upcoming opportunities this weekend locally Xavier Monumental Opportunity, U
see Monumental Opportunity. Kentucky hosts the number one team in
the nation, Auburn. All happening tomorrow afternoon. That's not all

(01:58):
FC Cincinnati and ACT at Philadelphia. We've got Red Spring training.
We've got other games sprinkled throughout. Miami of Ohio takes
on O You, the Battle of the Bricks, Youngstown State
and NKU Dayton is in action over the weekend. Louisville's
in action. It's a jam packed sports weekend and we're

(02:20):
gonna get to all of it today. That's not all
from a guest standpoint. We have spent a ton of
time talking about the Muskies. We spent a ton of
time talking about the Cincinnati Bearcats. The best chance locally
of some March Madness magic probably gonna be the Kentucky Wildcats.

(02:44):
We're gonna talk to Bill a Siri from Wildcat Chat
at one o'clock we'll get what's going on in Big
Blue Nation. Our resident expert and voice of FC Cincinnati,
Tom Gallader, will join us at two o'clock.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Gallader this afternoon.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
Gallader, Matt McEwan, and Kyle Decker from the Red Brick
Legacy come on Miami of Ohio. Man, they got some
things moving.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Might be the best all around D one program in
the Tri state area.

Speaker 7 (03:11):
They are on fire.

Speaker 6 (03:13):
Speaking of fire, did you see the preview Austin for
that Cradle of Coaches documentary.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
That's going to come out? Stop thinking about it. That
is going to be awesome.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Are they going to have an official release date for
us today?

Speaker 6 (03:25):
We're going to find out. Okay, We're going to ask
him about it. So they're going to be here. We
have your talkbacks, which provides today an opportunity for you
to win a Sinci Shirts gift card if you can
leave a talkback today that can rival any of the
talkbacks from Monday through Thursday. We'll vote on those today.
We'll give that away. We got an abbreviated Pickham segment

(03:45):
where we can just essentially what this has turned into
is we just highlight the biggest games of the weekend
and give a little snippet on why we think someone's
going to win. We're going to get to all of
that today and most importantly your phone calls five to one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty. Let's talk about what else happened in the
sports world yesterday. How about Steph Curry twelve twelve Austin

(04:09):
twelve Three's last night.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
For the Warriors. He's so awesome.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Fifty six points for Steph Curry in a win last night.
John Gruden has been reinstated back into the Tampa Bay
Bucks Ring of Honor. Shout out to John Gruden. Yeah,
going back in the Ring of Honor.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Apparently a speech that was delivered by Lane Kiffen, who
is the son of the late great and buccaneer legend
Monte Kiffin. Yes, was able to bridge the gap between
good John Gruden and the Glazer family. They removed him
from their ring of honor after it was the investigation

(04:50):
going on between him and the NFL. It appears they
have mended fences and they are back together again.

Speaker 6 (04:57):
Good to hear that Miles Garrett not interested in any
type of long term extension with the Cleveland Browns. Good
for good for Miles gives.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
You know, I don't quite understand because according to Jackson Dart, Oh,
the Cleveland Browns are ready to win right now? How
about that? That's according to Jackson Dart that's because you
got to say all the right things. You probably couldn't
tell you where Cleveland was on a map prior to
two days ago.

Speaker 7 (05:21):
Correct.

Speaker 6 (05:22):
Speaking of the combine, we have the combine. Latest will
dive into some Bearcats and action. Corey Kiner took the
podium today. Luke Candra offensive Lineman will take the podium tomorrow.
Kegan Nickoson is at the combine talking to Cincinnati Bearcats.
He posted earlier he is very, very excited to be

(05:45):
at the combine. Luke Candra and John Williams from the
offensive line. Will We'll be in action talking tomorrow as well,
so we'll check in with the Bearcats at the combine.
How about one night Austin, one night after Michigan State
on a buzzer beater. Michigan wins last night on a
buzzer beater, they knock off Rutgers. Rutgers has two legit

(06:07):
lottery picks on that team and they are not going
to make the NCAA tournament. That's absolutely brutal. F C
Cincinnati mentioned there at Philly over the weekend. What did
you make of the Reds game yesterday?

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Not as sharp, not a game we got to see,
but it was good to see Ellie Daily Cruz walked
twice in the game. Spencer Steer got his first knock
of spring training. There were a couple of problems. There
was an error by Graham Ashcraft, an error I believe
by Matt McClain, and then Ellie late in the game

(06:39):
forgot how many outs there were. He was on first
base after a walk and took off on a fly ball,
but there was only one out so he got doubled up.
So those couple of things he got to see cleaned
up over the course of the next now less than
a month away from opening day. And I don't know
if you saw this, Tony, but the news from Reds
camp yesterday that they have delayed.

Speaker 7 (07:01):
Yeah, not ideals here, Steer not ideal.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Terry Francona said they're going to reevaluate him or get
him re examined and figure out the plan moving forward.
But he is still feeling pain when he tries to throw.
Now again, he played yesterday, He swung the bat, swings
the bat normal, got his first hit of the spring yesterday,
but still hasn't been able to throw, which is concerning

(07:27):
to say the least about Spencer Steer's defensive prospects.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
Already being a point where you're delaying throwing when you're
coming off an off season. It's not like he had
a shoulder surgery. Yeah, I think that's a little bit
worrisome right now.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Yeah, he said that his he said, I'm still working
through some things, just making sure that once I start throwing,
I don't stop.

Speaker 7 (07:47):
Okay, So hopefully soon.

Speaker 6 (07:49):
From a spring training standpoint, Red's A's will happen today
Z Yeah, They'll take on San Diego tomorrow. And the
Chicago Cubs on Sunday, that is, each weekend Red's updates.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
See the crowd for Cubs White Sox. Yesterday there was
a play or it was either yesterday or two days ago.
I forget when they played the guy that made the
catch something like that. Yeah, and they show this the
angle as the ball travels towards the outfield. There is
not a single spot available on the lawn.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (08:22):
I mean it.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Looks like a packed stadium out there at Sloane Park,
which is one of the newest ones at out there
in the Cactus League.

Speaker 7 (08:30):
So pretty awesome stuff.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Yesterday, our guy Lance McAllister had himself a day.

Speaker 8 (08:36):
Man.

Speaker 6 (08:37):
I feel for Lance, and I'm gonna tell you why
we feel for Lance in just a second. But before
something happened to Lance last night, Lance tweeted out the
wind totals from a college football standpoint twenty twenty five.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
You want to hear these? Uh sure?

Speaker 6 (08:53):
Notre Dame comes in at ten, Indiana eight and a half,
Louisville eight and a half, Kentucky four and a half.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (09:05):
The Ohio State Buckeyes win total is said at ten
and a half. Okay, and the Cincinnada Bearcats. Yeah, six
and a half.

Speaker 7 (09:14):
Better keep going. They better go over, better go.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
We have over another by the way, cryptic tweet from
a Bengal. Oh boy, this one says, I can't wait
to play ball again? Tornado emoji. Oh that comes from
cam Sample. Okay, he'll become a free agent in like
two weeks.

Speaker 7 (09:36):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (09:37):
I can't wait to play ball again. Tornado emoji. Okay,
good to see. I guess there's a Bengal I want.
It's not all that cryptic, but there's a Bengal. I
want to talk, but we haven't spent much time on
I want to talk about Daxhill a little bit today.
I also want to talk about the best free agent fit,

(09:58):
according to ESPN, for the Cincinnati Bengals to bring in.
On top of ideally uh signing their top talent, anything
else from the Combine that we miss. Cam Ward is
not throwing in Indy. He's going to do all the
interview process. I don't know that we'll ever see a

(10:19):
top five quarterback ever throw at the Combine again.

Speaker 7 (10:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:24):
Last year, Xavier Worthy set the combine record for a
forty yard dashtime at Texas. Isaiah Bond comes in this year.
And says that he's undoubtedly going to break Xavier Worthy's
combine record time. Okay, so that's something to watch from

(10:46):
a combine standpoint. I don't think there's anything else we've
missed from a combine standpoint. How about Bowling Green now
looking for a coach? Is this Urban Meyer time?

Speaker 4 (10:59):
I can't see why wouldn't want to come home back
where it all began at Bowling Green. Scott Leffler he's gone.
He coach Jalen Hurts, and Philly.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
The head coach of Bowling Green has left to be
the quarterback coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. And then there's
one other thing that I wanted to dive into today.
This doesn't have to relate to sports, but I've seen
this more and more as of late. Recently, justin Timberlake
canceled a concert in Columbus, so the.

Speaker 7 (11:28):
Concert was rescheduled.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
And as I'm following along yesterday, I see that not
only Lance McAllister and his wife were traveling to the concert,
some folks that I followed that listened to.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
This show were also up there. Uh oh, going to
see the show. Now.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
Lance was kind of documenting the trip conversations he was
having with his daughter. I saw that Lance and his
wife actually ate dinner in the parking garage.

Speaker 8 (11:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
I have questions about that.

Speaker 6 (11:52):
Yeah that's questionable. But here's what happens. Soundcheck happens. They
opened the doors to the arena. Crazy, the opening act
is just about ready to go on, and Justin Timberlake
cancels the concert. What do we feel about a performer

(12:14):
canceling a concert? Because I understand folks get sick, and
that's what JT said happened. But JT, in a statement
said that he was dealing with it throughout the day
but was just fighting through it. But now it had
gotten the best of them. The problem I have they

(12:36):
waited until the doors opened.

Speaker 7 (12:38):
Yeah, that's an issue.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Folks are already in there. It's the second time it's
been canceled.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Why was he Why did he cancel the first one?

Speaker 7 (12:46):
Bronchitis? That one was from October? Yes. Interesting.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Now, I just don't think Justin Timberlake likes Columbus, That's
what I think.

Speaker 6 (12:56):
Now he's getting ready to set out in Europe and
South America in March.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
This is going to ruin the tour. So what tour
he's leaving the world tour.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
He's going on the world tour and he couldn't even
start in Columbus. You remember that when he got arrested.

Speaker 6 (13:09):
Yes, what what should the ramifications be? Because everyone essentially
got their money for the concert back.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
I mean, as long as you should they get more
than that, as long as a lot of people drive
in for that, they get hotels for the night. Yeah,
I mean, as long as you get your money back.
I don't know that you can ask for much more.
I think that's weak on Justin timor I like Justin Timberlake.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
I do too.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
He's got some good songs. I think he's a good
live performer. But cancel on a concert when the door's
already open. You had to have a little bit more
of an understanding earlier in the day that you're probably
not going to get much better and go ahead and
camp for the concert then.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Uh, Tony R since he three to sixty pole question
presented by Revivefitnessystems dot com and coach PJ.

Speaker 7 (13:50):
Street was PJ yesterday. Shout out to PJ.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
We got to hang out with PJ after the show yesterday.
It was awesome and uh excited. I've talked to PJ
a thousand times in my roll down the Hall, but
I never met him in person, but we met him
today and or yesterday, and invite you to go to
Revivefitnessystems dot com and learn more about what PJ has
to offer. On the heels tone of Steph Curry's big

(14:15):
performance last night, of Lebron James continuing to get it
done at the age of forty, of show Heyo Tani,
who might be overall the most popular athlete in the world.
The question is this, which California athlete would you rather be?
Lebron James, Steph Curry, sho Heyo Tani or other? Oh,

(14:38):
there's some good other options. Yeah, Luca Justin Herbert, Luca Stafford,
Matt Stafford. I mean there's there's some really good, good ones.
Freddie Freeman, Fred Freeman involved in that. Clayton Kershaw is
a legend.

Speaker 8 (14:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (14:56):
Mike Trout, Mike Trout still exists.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
I think it this point in time, show hey, guys,
the king of everything. I would probably say, show hey.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
At this current point right now, Steph Curry is in
the lead based on the votes that I oh update, oh,
we are tied Steph Curry and show hey, both at
fifty percent so far. You can vote at Audielmore, at
Tony Underscore Pike fifteen, and at ESPN fifteen thirty. That's
just kind of a fun one on a Friday like
that on a Friday, because I was, you know, it

(15:28):
was funny. Last night me and my roommate were watching
the final two episodes of Court of Gold. Yeah, and
in those episodes, of course, Steph Curry just goes berserk
yep and wins the gold medal essentially for the United States.
And then we uh, you know, turn Netflix off, pop
up the other screen, and boom the Yes, Steph has
Fitty there he is, My good lord.

Speaker 6 (15:49):
I thought the best part of that series. Maybe not
the best part, but I thought it was so unique
when you go into the locker room of Serbia. Oh yeah,
and you've got arguably one of the best players, if
not the best, in the league, uh Nicole, and he's
just crushing his teammates.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
Yeah, why are you leaving? Kevin Durant.

Speaker 6 (16:05):
The coaches, the coach essentially, I don't know the exact words,
but the coach is like, it's my fault for thinking
that this guy could actually guard him.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Well, you know, It was really funny because at one
point they get into the locker room and Djokich is
on the board drawing up a play, trying to explain
to this, and then the coach comes in and says,
go away to the Netflix cameras. But everything that coach
said that entire game, at least, what they showed was
you gotta play harder, you gotta play better. He had

(16:34):
no answers for the United zero. He had none, zero,
And they made up sometimes you can't just play harder.
They made a good point, you know, when Kevin Durant
is the third option, I mean, what do you what
do you expect? I came away from that though, as
a much bigger fan of Shay Gilgess, Alexander of Bogdan
Bogdanovich and wim Ban wim Bin Yana whim Won Victor

(16:59):
wim Bin Yama.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
Yeah, yeah, I I just anytime you get a kind
of behind the curtain look at stuff like that, I
think it's fascinating. And as we talked about with hockey,
when it when it becomes international, yeah in your country,
that's just really cool.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
I'm trying to think about it, like you know, this
pole question today Steph Curry is widely regarded as the
greatest person that's ever shot of basketball. His impact and
influence on the game is second to none. I mean,
the way they've changed it that basketball has played these days,
Steph Curry and being the greatest shooter ever is unbelievable.
Lebron James, on the other hand, has a legitimate argument

(17:37):
for being called the greatest basketball player of all time.
And then you've got Shohey, who is still relatively early
in his career but has done things no player has
ever had. And as I heard it described earlier today,
his only comp is Babe Ruth.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Yeah, that's pretty amazing.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Yeah, I credit watching that, that documentary Steve Kerr And
he gets in front of the players, he said, we
got twelve guys. Half are already going to be Hall
of Famers, the other half will be. So everyone in
this room's going to be a Hall of Famer. He said,
I've never seen a successful team that can play twelve
guys in a forty minute game. Yeah, so kind of
laid the groundwork out. You know that, you guys aren't

(18:13):
You're not getting paid for this. This is about pride,
It's about coming together and doing something here for the country,
doing something special. He talked about the Dream Team and
how they kind of introduced the world to USA Basketball
and living up to that billing. I just thought it
was a very very well done in so many ways.
Jeff chimes in as an answer to our poll question
that says none the taxes are absurd. Now, this is

(18:35):
a good point, part of the reason why show Hey
got all his money deferred.

Speaker 7 (18:40):
Number one. Number two.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Think about this through the Matthew Stafford lens, because there's
some news there today that apparently Stafford is meeting with
the Rams in person to discuss his future, and there
are offers on the table from both Las Vegas and
the Giants that are in the two year, one hundred
ish million dollar range. Right, he wants fifty he's currently

(19:05):
getting paid twenty seven. If you get paid twenty seven
in California, Yeah, that's not very much money.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
No not. I mean, in the.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
Grand scheme of things, the amount that taxes are brought out,
the amount that the team takes all the other stuff.
You gotta pay for jerseys, and you gotta pay for
you know, who knows what. I saw a contract breakdown
recently that they they delivered the NFLPA. You might have
went through this when you were in the league, or
they just kind of explained to you how your contract
works and where all your money.

Speaker 7 (19:35):
Goess sucks and it's it's nuts.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
So that is true, and I wonder how much that
affects a guy like Matthew Stafford, who's made a bajillion
dollars in the NFL already.

Speaker 6 (19:46):
And for him, though probably is your last contract, your
least go around maximize it with everything you.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Can get, even fifty million in Los Angeles. And I
don't know this the tax laws of Nevada and New
York or New Jersey. I'm sure it's not all that different,
but in California especially, I wonder if that how much
that plays a role in what Stafford's you know, trying
to figure out right now.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
Yeah, we're just getting started. Phone lines are up in five, one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty. We'll take a break, we'll come back. Let's
start with a couple of loose ended Bengals topics here
on a Friday afternoon, we'll get to the massive weekend
ahead in college hoops. We'll make some picks, and that'll
be our hour one of three since e three to
sixty thanks to Skyline Chile. On the Home of the
Bengals ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
Lowegger reality is they're probably not good enough.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
He dissects the local sports scene.

Speaker 7 (20:33):
They're not consistent enough.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
The way up. Fourth grader disects apron not reliable Lowegger
Today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 6 (20:42):
All right, guys, remember the first time, maybe you failed
to perform in the bedroom. Maybe you just laughed it off,
No big deal. It happened a second time, third time
or more. Now it's become a problem, not just for you,
but for your relationship as well, because ED is a
major cause in relationship issues, because men often push their
partners away when ED becomes a problem. The condition can
lead to depression, arguments, breakups even contribute to divorce.

Speaker 7 (21:03):
But fear not.

Speaker 6 (21:04):
Tri State Men's Health can help their treatments work when
the pills fail. Treatments have success rates well over ninety percent,
and they have six convenient locations across Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Louisville,
and northern Kentucky. That makes it easy to schedule a
console with Try State Men's Health Today. The initial visit
is ninety nine dollars. It gets you a medical console
with a licensed medical provider TNPSA testing and if you're
medically advised to test dose. If that test does the

(21:26):
test dose doesn't work in the office, your visit is free.
Don't put it off any longer. Calum Today eight hundred,
nine hundred and nine sixty five four visit tri Statemenshealth

Speaker 1 (21:34):
The skyway is back at skyline, but you gotta hurry
between them.

Speaker 9 (21:48):
Here's the fit Groover on the ground, deep short back
and pick up from the edge of the grass.

Speaker 10 (21:52):
Friar Royo long throw in time they got them.

Speaker 7 (21:55):
Don't hit it to Arroyo.

Speaker 8 (21:56):
If you're the opponent, you're out.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Talked about that yesterday Edwin Arroyo, his defensive prowess, future
gold glover in the Big Leagues, future gold glover, Edwin
Arroyo on the call from the Cowboy. Yeah, yesterday, as
Tommy t we get a little Reds in not so
much Reds today. We have spent a lot of time

(22:22):
this week talking about the Cincinnati Reds. I have two
Bengals related topics that we'll get to here and then
move on to some college hoops here Austin.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
One is from when do we do the Reds lineup?
Just so I'm ready? Do you want to do it now?

Speaker 4 (22:38):
No, I'm just asking when do you want to do
because you just made it sound like we're not gonna
talk Reds until March.

Speaker 7 (22:43):
Well, if we have it, we could do it now. Oh,
we don't have to do it now.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
No, we should do it now, and you want to
do it now and then close the book officially on
the Reds for today.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Oh okay, let's do it that way. Red Legs taking
on the Sacramento a Dam, Arizona, of course, the home
of Boo Boo Bishop anyways, Leading off at DH TJ.

Speaker 7 (23:05):
Friedel.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
The second batter is the shortstop, Santiago Espinall batting third
at second base. Today it's Gavin Luks. The cleanup hitter
is the catcher, Tyler Stevenson. Jake Frayley bats fifth. He's
in right field. The sixth batter is the third baseman,
Jamer Candelario, batting seventh at first base. Christian Incarnacio own strand.
Will Benson bats eighth. He's in center field today and

(23:28):
batting ninth and playing left field. Blake done. Starter for
the Red Legs. Today is Hunter Green once more for Cincinnati,
Friedel espinall looks, Stevenson, Frayley, Candelario strand Benson Dunn with
Green on the mound. You know now see now have

(23:48):
to do this. So Legs Blake done. Yeah, no relation
to one of my favorite Reds, Adam done.

Speaker 7 (23:56):
Yesterday.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
We get off air, I go home and there's a
new card shop by my house that opened up, and
so I'm like, I'm gonna take the kids in there. Yeah,
because they don't just have baseball, basketball for they have
some Disney they had some uh some wrestling Wilder's one
WWE cards right now. So we go in there, get
to talking to the own, a really nice guy, awesome shop.

(24:17):
Uh they just opened up, and uh He's like, do
your kids like bibbleheads?

Speaker 7 (24:21):
And I'm like yeah. Oh.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
He takes us into like the back room and there's
a couple of Reds bibbleheads sitting on the table with
their boxes still. There was a Billy Hamilton, there was
a Matt Latos, Oh my gosh, there was a Tony
Perez and then there was an atom Don Don And
I don't want to like persuade the kids. I want
them to just pick out who they want. Yeah, my

(24:44):
daughter grabbed the Tony Perez.

Speaker 7 (24:46):
Smart. I'm like, that's my girl, smart girl. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
And then Wilder's kind of just bouncing back and forth,
and I'm like, I don't remember any of those.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
I'm like, man, the donkey, big donkey, big donk. He's like,
what do you think? He asked me what I thought.
I'm like, you gotta get the Adam done as soon
as you open the door for me. Yeah, so we
got an Adam done, bibblehead, Yes, you got that, so
big donkey, the big donkey. Are we sure he's not
related to Blake done? Is in by done the research? No,
I'm just assuming, okay, which you don't. You shouldn't do.
You would see by You would guess by the athleticism

(25:16):
of cork done, they're probably not related a donkey. I
gave you something to give your son yesterday. It was
an Ellie Day card. What was the reaction?

Speaker 6 (25:26):
Like, Uh, it went straight into his Ellie booklet. Yes,
so he's got a uh, he's got a binder of
cards and then he's got like a little little booklet
that's not even a book. That it's like a toiletry
travel case. And he's got all of his Ellie cards
in like protective holders. Smart man. There, it went right
into there.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Did did you tell him who gave him the card?
Uncle Lotti? Uncle Lotti came from Uncle Lottie.

Speaker 7 (25:48):
He don't know who that.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
He was pumped out. He was pumped out, all right,
He's ready to go. Uh anyway? Uh NFL Free Agency
twenty twenty five, projecting one signing for every team.

Speaker 9 (25:59):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Aaron Shatz of ESPN dot com it says Kevin Zeitler,
Cordell Volson, and Alex Kapa ranked sixty fourth and sixty seventh,
respectively in past block win rate out of sixty seven.
That's not good. Zeidler ranked sixth last year Austin. Yes, sixth,
thirty five years old. But if the Bengals are trying

(26:21):
to make a Super Bowl right now, a short term
contract with an older quality lineman just makes too much sense.
Are you good with the reunion of Kevin Zeitler back
in Cincinnati?

Speaker 11 (26:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (26:33):
Why wouldn't you be? Just makes a lot of sense.
Why wouldn't you be?

Speaker 6 (26:36):
Guy ranked sixth and past block win rate on a
team that threw it a bunch with Jared Goff and
the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
You you also assume that they're going to add to
that room and free agency, they're going to add to
that room in the draft. So why wouldn't you be
willing to say, Hey, let's get a veteran in here,
familiar with this city. Yeah, familiar with this team who's
playing at a high level, that's done it for a
long time, breach and those young players will be able

(27:04):
to get a chance to watch a pro bowler and
Kevin Zeitler work. Yeah, recently, So you have depth, Yes, recently,
I mean one percent agreement.

Speaker 7 (27:16):
I'm all in Kevin Zeidler.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
Also, our guy Jeff Hobson sat down with Al Golden
and one of the questions came back to Dax Hill
in talking about a position change that could be on
the table for a player. How Al Golden is going

(27:38):
to implement the changes this offseason. Hobson said this on
Dax Hill, We'll see at the end of the day,
after we accumulate all the talent via the draft and
free agency, where are the best pieces. He's certainly a
candidate to switch, and I think he knows he can
do that too. Do you remember how much time we
spent talking about Dax Hill last off seas and making

(28:01):
the switch, and then the injury happens. He had a
brutal camp and then he started playing better and he
gets injured. If you're making the decisions, are you are
you having Dax Hill as a safety or Dax Hill
as a corner knowing this team's current needs.

Speaker 7 (28:16):
I'm having him as a corner.

Speaker 6 (28:18):
I think you're moving back to the corner as well. Yeah,
I mean you know Stone played well at the end
of the year. Jordan Battle came on really well, I'm
one hundred percent movement. You're tried it at safety. It
didn't walk moving back.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
To corner well even that, I mean when When Duke
Duke Tobin spoke to the media this week, he gave
glowing reviews about what they had seen from Dax Hill.
He did also note that it's not always your best
year coming off of an ACL your first year, so
they don't expect him to just, you know, play like
Ronde Barber out there this year. Sure, they expect there

(28:50):
to be some growing pains, but they were so excited,
according to Duke Tobin, about what they saw then it
made them feel a lot better about that position moving forward. Look,
and he the way he said it was that he
was about to explode as a really good player for
that defense.

Speaker 7 (29:07):
Now, what is interesting.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
Dax, by the way, posted some videos yesterday of him
working out and looking pretty good.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
What's interesting is his natural position in college was slot corner.
Who played slot corner last year.

Speaker 8 (29:19):
For the Bengals.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
That would be Mike Hilton. Mike Hilton is a free agent.
That's correct.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
If you moved Dax to slot, it could mean the
end of Mike Hilton in Cincinnati, which likely would mean
Dj Turner, Cam Taylor britt are your boundary corners on
the outside.

Speaker 7 (29:37):
I think the end of Mike Hilton is happening regardless.

Speaker 8 (29:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
I mean, he's the best blitzer in the National Football
League with I don't think there's anybody that would doubts
you on that. But he can't cover man and man anymore. Yeah,
he just can't. He's more of a liability in a
pass happy league. And so what does that do to
your defense if and what does it tip the hand
of the offense if every time Mike Hilton on the field, Yeah,

(30:01):
you know, it's either Hey, we got a matchup we
like in man or B it was the Joe Mixon problem. B.
He's gonna blitz, Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (30:08):
It was tipping your hand and when you already have
enough holes on defense, it's not a good plan to
let the defense know what's coming.

Speaker 7 (30:16):
Let's take a break.

Speaker 6 (30:17):
We'll switch gears completely to the college basketball landscape. It
is a massive college basketball weekend, one that we'll talk
about today.

Speaker 7 (30:25):
Bill A.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
Siri is going to talk about the Kentucky Wildcats with
us in our number two to kick off Hour two.
But from a local and a national standpoint, March first
is tomorrow, and March kicks off in a big way
with huge implications for some local teams. We'll dive into that.
We'll make some picks as we get to our number one,

(30:46):
centy three to sixty thanks to Skyline Chili on ESPN
fifteen to thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 8 (30:52):
Hey Alexa, who got cut?

Speaker 12 (30:54):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio, Going on in Baseball?
Getting esp fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
Welcome back since he three to sixty, a service of
Skyline Chili ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, we'll make
some picks to end the hour. We're gonna get some
college basketball in just a second. You brought this up
over the break, Austin, and I think this is both
funny and a result of what happened last year with
the New York Giants.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Yeah, and again just puzzling. Bill Belichick and the University
of North Carolina football program will be featured on the
off season edition of Hard Knocks.

Speaker 7 (31:50):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Now, the reason for this is because NFL Films could
not get an NFL team to agree to it following
what happened last year with the New York Giants, and
obviously Saquon Barkley and Joe Shane and otherwise, So Belichick
in the tar Heels will be the off season Hard Knocks.
I'm actually fascinated by that, you know, I I get

(32:15):
it because of how much heat the Giants took with
that last year. Yeah, they peeled back the curtain probably.
I think so many Hard Knocks fans appreciated it so much,
but in the end, they probably peeled the curtain back
a little bit too much and they paid for it
all season. Well, you know, I remember coming in here
during the summer after watching Hard Knocks and thinking, gosh,

(32:37):
the Giants just that was awesome. Man, that was refreshing,
Like they really showed you. They took a beat, and
every team in the NFL is telling their people We're
never doing this. Yep, absolutely beat down from it.

Speaker 7 (32:49):
Oh man. Incredible.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Also, I just wonder if this is Bill Belichick again
gonna be trying to take a victory lap on the
rest of the league to say, yeah, look how I
do things. Could be this dude, better win at North Carolina.
That's all I gotta say.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
Could be all right?

Speaker 6 (33:09):
It is I think massive as an understatement. With the
college basketball weekend that is upon us, it gets kicked
kicked off tonight. Actually with Mick Cron and juicy le
Bruins heading to Purdue. Purdue is twentieth in the country.
That is a fantastic Big Ten matchup. But tomorrow is
where you really start to sink your teeth into a

(33:32):
lot of really really good matchups. Texas Tech at unranked, yes,
unranked Kansas, I think should be a good one. Saint
John's and Rick Patino going for the outright Big East
regular season title at home against Seaton Hall should be fantastic.
You get number six Bama versus Number five Tennessee. UH

(33:56):
Pat Kelsey and the Louisville Cardinals look to keep pay
with the top of the ACC while also trying to
hurt the bubble chances of Pittsburgh.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
That's a game.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
If you're a Cincinnati fan, you're rooting for Louisville, Texas
A and Sorry, Texas A and M at Florida Top
twelve matchup, Arizona at Iowa State, Top twenty five matchup,
Bubble matchups all over the grid. But of course, the
biggest thing for me is the opportunity that both Xavier

(34:27):
and Cincinnati have tomorrow. Both of these games tip off
at the exact same time. For the Xavier Musketeers, I
think it's simple. I think three wins gets you in,
and if you're Xavier, you take on Creighton tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (34:47):
If you get past that.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
At Butler Home versus Providence, win three, and I really
really think you're in lose one, and I think it
becomes an uphill battle for the Xavier Musketeers. They're playing
so much better are the Muskies, and they are no

(35:12):
longer just Zach Fremantle and Ryan Conwell. They can get
contributions from both but Marcus Foster is an option. Jerome
Hunter is an option. Dante maddox has been fantastic the
second half of the year. Davion McKnight on any given day,
Dylan Swain is another. They have options, and they're playing

(35:36):
so much better under Sean Miller the second half of
the year, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Xavier knew coming down the stretch that they would essentially
have to win seven straight after they lost to Villanova.
The first four are done Providence to Paul Butler, Seaton Hall.
They won those. This is the game that everyone has circled.
The environment at the Centas Center should be absolutely bonkers

(36:00):
and a great opportunity for Xavier tomorrow and what I
think is going to be a somewhat of a pick
them point spread. What will not be a PICKHM is
the other game tomorrow at four thirty in Houston. I
think U SEE is going to be a big time
double digit underdog. If you look at the latest bubble predictions,

(36:20):
you see is on that next four out, not the
first four out, the next four out list, which means
to me a path to go two and one and
make a run in the Big twelve tournament is a
little less likely unless you're talking about winning three games
in the Big twelve Tournament, which means tomorrow that's the test.
Can Cincinnati rise to that. Can Wes Miller get his

(36:43):
marquee victory as the coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats. Time
will tell on that tomorrow, but I think it's going
to be fascinating. But two four to thirty tips both
primetime TV networks with an opportunity to take one step
closer to March Madness and the NCAA Tournament, and it
just so happens to happen on the first day of March,

(37:06):
being tomorrow. Another game that we'll talk about in our
number two as we get things kicked off with Bill
a Siri from Wildcat Chat is Kentucky hosting number one Auburn.
Kentucky has one of the most unique, in my opinion,
resumes in all of college basketball. We'll dive into more
of that in our number two, but for now, let's break,

(37:29):
let's come back, and let's pick some of these games.
We'll pick this weekend slate when we get back to
finish up the first hour of Cincy three to sixty
on the home of the Bengals. ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station, a service of Skyline.

Speaker 13 (37:44):
Chilek Wise Cincinnati. Make us the number one pre set
on your car radio and on the free new and
improved iHeartRadio ad free never sounded so good, ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 7 (37:54):
Thirty, Tony Pike.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
Here for my friends at Apollo Home, March is a
great time to make sure those electrical services and handyman
services are right where you need them in your home.
And many folks don't know that Apollow Home specializes in
so much with HVAC, with plumbing and more, but also
with electrical and handyman services. They are available to you

(38:19):
seven days a week. They have affordable financing options available
to you, and they've got awesome specials throughout the month
of March that can make sure your home is safe
from a temperature standpoint, from an electrical standpoint, and the
safety is the most important part for you, for your
family and for anyone else that can come over. Make

(38:39):
Apollow Home your one stop shop for everything you can
learn more topollow home dot com, where you can always
choose local and choose.

Speaker 14 (38:45):
Apollow Home from the Johnson Heating Tempstar Weathers at PN
fifteen thirty.

Speaker 6 (38:57):
Welcome back, ESBN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Let's shoot
through some of these games. Let's make some picks on
these games. Austin, you're nearing two hundred. Three wins will
get you two hundred. I've really cooled off. I thought
we were done after the Super Bowl, and then you
just kept doing that. Well I was, I kept trying
to give you opportunities to.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
I don't care about that. I'm a I'm a good loser. Well,
if I lose, I lose. What were we playing for?

Speaker 7 (39:24):
Pride? I lost it?

Speaker 6 (39:26):
Oh man, we've lost more than that. Let's make some picks.
F C Cincinnati at the Philadelphia Union. We're gonna talk
to Tom Gallaird earlier later in the show today at
two o'clock.

Speaker 7 (39:37):
Gallaid gallaider for FC Cincinnati Philly.

Speaker 6 (39:42):
That was the last loss of the season for FC,
or for Philly. Last year they lost f C Cincinnati,
They missed the playoffs. They did win Week one f
C Cincinnati one Week one. Who you're going with in
this one on the road in Philly, I'll take the
Orange and blue. Pat Noonan's old stomping grounds, Chris Albright's
old stomping grounds.

Speaker 7 (40:00):
We ain't afraid of nothing.

Speaker 6 (40:01):
I think f C Cincinnati wins this six points to
start their MLS season.

Speaker 7 (40:06):
Here comes a shield for the Orangeine Blue.

Speaker 6 (40:08):
Tonight, Ucla Mick cronin the Fighting Mix at number twenty.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
You know something we forgot to mention who what? Chris
Mack got his three hundredth career win the other night
with Charlotte. Didn't mention that is Charlotte or Charleston, Charleston, Charleston.
Chris Mack, you know, gradually just got his five hundredth
that's right, career win. Does he get five oh one
against the twentieth ranked boiler Makers produced favored by five

(40:35):
and a half? Yeah, I take Purdue up to fifteen
and a half. It's gonna be a blowout, it gonna
be ugly. Mixed team stinks. Now I'm gonna take Ucla.

Speaker 7 (40:42):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (40:42):
This is one of those where I think Mick has
a guy's ready to play. It's tough with the travel
coming from the West coast, but I think five and
a half on a Friday night, give me Mick and
the Fighting Bruins to win this one. Who would have
thought Austin when the season started. This game would feature
tenth ranked Texas Tech and unranked Kansas. Yet here we

(41:04):
are Kansas a slight favorite at the fog fog Allen Fieldhouse.
I think Texas Tech is a legitimate Final four sleeper. Yes,
a Final four sleeper? Are the Red Raiders from Texas Tech?
If they're a Final four sleeper, they go to fog
and they get a win.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
Yeah, I'm right there with you. Kansas has just falling
off the face of the earth. I'll take Texas Tech
and the Red Raiders, even though I don't think Patrick
Mahomes will be there for this game.

Speaker 6 (41:30):
Oh he's given out free tuitions and everything else lately.

Speaker 7 (41:33):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
What do you think of Alabama at Tennessee five?

Speaker 7 (41:40):
Verse six happening tomorrow?

Speaker 4 (41:42):
Wish that I was on hold Rocky tip Wow, Rocky
top ten See.

Speaker 7 (41:50):
Okay, give it a balls, all right? I will. This
is the first time and only time these two have
played this year last know.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
The SEC beats up on each other. Yeah, the SEC turn.
It's gonna be stupid. I don't even know how are
they gonna get a winner?

Speaker 6 (42:03):
I don't think they can because did you see that
stat that they're exactly five hundred. Alabama lost two in
a row last week. I think they bounced back. They
have since one two in a row. I think they
go to Tennessee and get the win tomorrow. I think,
if not, they cover two and a half.

Speaker 7 (42:18):
Six and a.

Speaker 6 (42:18):
Half is the number for Florida at home hosting Texas
A and M.

Speaker 7 (42:23):
U Texas A and M.

Speaker 6 (42:25):
If you're falling along with them, you're not a fan
of them right now because they just lost the Vanderbilt
Vanderbilts A Bubble team. Vanderbilts now off the bubble. Texas
A and M has lost three games in a row.
Does it become four? In the swamp?

Speaker 4 (42:38):
You know, we had a food drop earlier today by
our good friends at Miamiville Trail Yard and Jillians stopped
by and Jillian was telling us how she was at
the Sugar Bowl in two thousand and nine and she
was talking about how there were not that many Florida
fans on Bourbon Street, but we know what happened in
the game. Give me the Gators in this one as well. Thanks,

(42:58):
thanks a lot, welcome. Didn't really even need to go
there with you, we did. I like Florida as well,
coming out of loss against Georgia where Georgia pretty much
handled them. Florida made a run in the second half,
but Georgia was up big in the first half. I
think Florida rebounds and responds at home. Another team that
needs to rebound Iowa State. They lost to the bottom

(43:22):
feeders in the Big Twelve. Colorado beat up on Iowa State.
I did not see that coming. They now get Arizona,
and if it's not Texas Tech Austin, Arizona then becomes
my dark horse final four team. Even though they lost
to BYU, Arizona's getting two and a half. Iowa State
been dealing with some injuries, have not been playing well.

(43:44):
I like Arizona to go on the road and win
that one. Okay, I like the Cyclones at home. Tough
place to play. Give me Iowa State.

Speaker 6 (43:50):
If you're a bubble fan of Xavier in Cincinnati, you're
rooting for Pat Kelsey tomorrow and the Louisville Cardinals. Pittsburgh
is one of those teams on the bubble. If Pittsburgh
goes to Louisville and wins, that certainly helps their case.
I'm gonna take Louisville both to cover five and a half,
and to keep Pittsburgh off that tournament line.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
I'm a big Pat Kelsey guy, and I'll never root
for anybody Pittsburgh. I'll never pick them. Gimme Louisville, the Ville.

Speaker 7 (44:14):
I like that.

Speaker 6 (44:15):
What about the Dayton Flyers maybe rounding into form a
little bit, maybe not? They get twelve and a half.
They're gonna give twelve and a half to the Spiders
from Richmond tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (44:26):
First of all, more teams. There should be more teams
named to Spiders. I like more mascots named the Spiders.

Speaker 7 (44:32):
Listen.

Speaker 4 (44:32):
I want to side with my boy Drew Wester Heidi here. Oh,
but it just nothing seems to come easy for the Flyers.
For that reason, I'm gonna take Richmond to cover twelve
and a half.

Speaker 6 (44:41):
I'll go opposite. I'll go Dayton to cover and start
to get right. As the calendar turns to March, Youngstown State. Nku,
it's a pick them at Truest Arena. What do you
think you want to talk about calendars? Oh, this is
how it goes yep. January February Norse Jimmy Nku, I'm
with you. This is Nku's time. This is when they
turn it on Creighton, not Xavier. I got it as

(45:03):
a pick of Austin. Do the Xavier Musketeers make a
huge step forward to the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 4 (45:10):
The Muskies blow them out and in the meantime deliver
the send off blow to the Bearcats by beating Creighton.

Speaker 7 (45:16):
Give me Xavier.

Speaker 6 (45:17):
Unless something's changed. I don't know how they can stop
Ryan Kulkbrunner yet at Xavier. I'll take the Creighton Blue
Jays tomorrow. That is absolutely insane of me. You have
never ever picked against the Bearcats once.

Speaker 4 (45:31):
We'll just wait till today, and you are telling me
that you're picking Craighton over Xavier just at the CentOS.
At the CentOS, you are out of your damn mind.
White out Xavier falls tomorrow. This is gonna be a
Sean Miller master class.

Speaker 7 (45:46):
What about Miami might not make it to thirty? Wow?
What what about Miami of Ohio? What do you say
about them? Listen?

Speaker 4 (45:52):
I love both these schools endlessly.

Speaker 7 (45:54):
Miami. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (45:56):
Battle of the Bricks obviously ou historic place, the fighting
Ken Bruce which anybody figure out what he was sweeting
about last night? Have we done a wellness check on
I think he was either inebriated or negligent in his
uh operating of the Twitter website.

Speaker 7 (46:10):
Give me Miami.

Speaker 6 (46:13):
I'll take Ohio strictly because Miami won at home.

Speaker 7 (46:18):
I want to hear guys up here.

Speaker 6 (46:22):
In about an hour, Cincinnati out Houston. Let's say the
numbers twelve and a half. I'll take Houston manus twelve
and a half at home.

Speaker 4 (46:31):
This is the first time ever. Listen, literally the first
time ever that you see you see, Yeah, they don't
do two things. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we now go
to the news room where we have breaking news in
an unprecedented decision. Former Bearcamp quarterback and now a host
of since three sixty, Anthony Pike, for the first time

(46:54):
in Czech's calendar four years, has picked against this Cincinnati
Bearcats in the Friday Pickham segment.

Speaker 7 (47:02):
Tony, please explain.

Speaker 6 (47:03):
Houston does two things that they excel at rebound and
defend at times. This year, UC's offense, when they scored
forty against Kansas, has disappeared. They scored fifty against West Virginia.
They've been out rebounded way too much this year. Those
are these specialties of Houston, and I'm hoping that a
little bulletin board material may help the Bearcats.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Tomorrow, I'll take the Cougars to cover Wow hurt, I'm
not well, what are you gonna do? Oh Houston, I
knew it. I seriously hope that. I hope they all win.

Speaker 7 (47:40):
Me too. That'd be fun. We'd have some fun. Next week.

Speaker 4 (47:43):
I want a first four of Ohio State Xavior in Cincinnati.

Speaker 6 (47:47):
I've thoroughly enjoyed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after the UC
win to keep things alive. And now I'm nervous because
the time is this.

Speaker 7 (47:53):
This week does feel like it's flown by.

Speaker 4 (47:55):
It has thanks to the Bearcats. This is since he
three sixty. When we come back, You the NFL scouting guy.

Speaker 6 (48:01):
When we come back, a little love to the fellas
and the ladies that listen in Big Blue Nation. We'll
talk with Wildcat Chats Bill Assiri next on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports station.

Speaker 13 (48:16):
WCKY, Cincinnati, make us the number one pre set on
your car radio and on the free new and improved
iHeartRadio at free never sounded so good. ESPN fifteen thirty
Twin Peaks is the This is Cincy shirts sincey three
sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Cincy Shirts.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
Cincy Shirts, All Cincy.

Speaker 15 (48:38):
All Day.

Speaker 2 (48:39):
This is ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 7 (48:46):
Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (48:47):
Sincey three sixty, it's our number two on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to our friends at Cinci Shirts.
We've spent a lot of time this week, obviously detailing
Cincinnati at Houston. We've talked Xavier with Creighton coming into town.
Huge games locally, there's another big game just south of
the river. We've not spent a ton of time on
the Kentucky Wildcats. They host number one Auburn.

Speaker 6 (49:08):
So let's go back to our guy, BILLI Siri, who's
host of the Wildcat Chat, talking all things Big Blue
Nation and a huge game coming up in rupp Arena.

Speaker 7 (49:16):
Bill, what's going on?

Speaker 8 (49:18):
What's going on?

Speaker 16 (49:19):
Tony?

Speaker 17 (49:19):
Thanks for having me. Yeah, you know, tomorrow the calendar
turns to March and it's the best time of the
year for US basketball fans and excited it going to
be in attendance for the UK Auburn game and it
could be a great atmosphere.

Speaker 6 (49:30):
I want to talk about the game itself, but let's
start with where this team is at right now, because
there's been some unbelievable wins, there's been some questionable losses,
and at the root of all of it, it's been
constantly shuffling this starting lineup. When all healthy, this is
one of the most dangerous rosters in the country. The
problem is they've not been one hundred percent healthy really

(49:51):
in quite some time. As the game tomorrow and March
gets underway, where is this team out from a health standpoint?

Speaker 17 (49:59):
Yeah, you bring up the biggest conversation in the Wildcat
fan base. It's it's been a fun year with with
Mark Cope bringing all these guys in. He started with
nobody on the roster right like we talked about last time,
and the injury bug has has really hurt the team's
consistency on starting lineups. And guys you know, nine, ten,
eleven on the roster have have made some tremendous impacts.

(50:21):
You know, Travis Perry, Trent Noah Kentucky boys have made
an impact. I don't think almon Or Aley Olmanor is
supposed to be a big player. He's come in and
had some big games. As you said, this team is
very dangerous. They've beat you know, they've beat the likes
of Duke Florida. They've had some huge wins Tennessee twice, right,
I mean huge wins against top ten opponents, top five opponents, really,

(50:42):
and we feel that if we're healthy in March, we
will make it deeper on.

Speaker 8 (50:47):
We have the ability to.

Speaker 17 (50:48):
We just got to get these guys healthy and it
it all starts with our guy, Jackson Robinson. And you know,
I think Leamon Butler is going to be okay. Looks
like he's on the men. But Robinson's a big question
market concern for us. So he went out last last game.
He was He played the first half, which was exciting,
but you know, as you know any anybody that's the shooter, yeah,
you need your risk to work, and his risk was

(51:09):
not working in that in that game. So he took
a step back, and we're concerned about that.

Speaker 6 (51:14):
Robinson obviously someone to watch. You mentioned Lamon Butler as well.
It's not a it's an elite offensive team for Kentucky,
it's not the best defensive team they've ever fielded at
Rupp Arena. Lamon Butler's a big piece of that. He's
one of the best on ball defenders in the country.
How much does it help this team's defense if he's
able to get back to one hundred percent.

Speaker 8 (51:33):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 17 (51:34):
I mean this team is so offensively a juggernaut that
they got to play a little bit of defense. And
it all starts with Butler really upsetting that that point
guard getting his body in there and making steals and
just really disrupting plays. And we have to have him,
I think, to make any sort of run in March.
I mean, the SEC tournament's going to feel like a
NCAA tournament with all the teams that are loaded in there.

(51:56):
I mean, it's crazy. Kentucky's gonna be like a seven
or eight seed, which is just wild to me at
the team that could potend to make the Final four
if they get healthy and make a run. So just
talks about really there's two tournaments coming. The SCF is
gonna feel like the NBA then obviously then so yeah,
Butler is really our spearhead, our captain that we need
to get right from the tournament's time.

Speaker 6 (52:17):
These options that Kentucky has very rarely in college basketball.
Do you see so many options for a team that
can take over a game? We know how well Kobe
braand can shoot it. Mentioned Lamon Butler, Andrew Carr has
had elite offensive games this year. You mentioned Jackson Robinson,
Amari Williams kind of makes everything go here. But Travis

(52:38):
Perry has helped, Trent Noah has helped. Oh, who will
get to in just a few minutes as obviously help.
Is this one of the from a offensive standpoint? Is
it one of the deeper rosters you can remember with
Kentucky with so many guys on any given night that
can go fill it up.

Speaker 17 (52:56):
Yeah, I think that's a fair take. I mean there,
like I said, are I think the injuries have helped
make these guys force them in a little quicker than
especially on the Perry and Noah side, and they're showing
that they can produce on any night. And it's exciting
because come tournament time, you just don't know what's gonna happen.
I mean the last couple of years, you know, Callan

(53:17):
Grady in twenty two against Saint Peter's, he went cold.
I think he shot one for seven and we lost.
Twenty three, Antonio Reeves shot one for ten against Kansas
State and we lost. Last year, Reed Shepherd and Roten
Dillingham went three for fourteen, I believe, and we lost.
So this year I think Mark Pope's got options to
where if somebody's not hot, like Robinson or Brea, put

(53:38):
them on the bench and putting it, putting Noah in,
or put you know, put Almonora in or Perry and
let them shoot that ball. Because three pointers matter in
the tournament. Obviously, teams have to score points and get hot.
It says this team is not gonna win by locking
down a team. They got to score points. And we
saw last night. Oh wait, I'm sorry two nights ago.
Oh wait, you know he took He was a man, pozsess.
He put the team on the shoulders and scored the
last I believe six points or eighteen points, just crazy,

(54:02):
unbelievable production by him.

Speaker 6 (54:04):
Otaga Oway you mentioned, I believe. I don't know if
it was the game before or previous. He was almost
non existent, didn't get into double digits, and this team
struggled without him. What does it mean for a guy
in today's world to transfer portal? He played out Oklahoma
and to go back to Oklahoma and score twenty eight
points and put the team on his back down the stretch.

(54:25):
I would imagine just a full circle moment for Oway
here as the season winds down and just another guy
bringing with confidence.

Speaker 17 (54:32):
Now, yeah, what an opportunity for him to go into
his old team last year at Oklahoma and just you know,
just really just drop the hammer down on them, scoring
all those points in that last second shot. He had
a hand in the block at the end of the
game as well. It's funny. I'll call out Terry Oglesby
the ref at the Alabama game on last weekend. I
think he had I don't know if Oway still was

(54:54):
launched before the game or what, but he he had
it out for Oway and he broke his twenty six
game ten points or.

Speaker 8 (55:00):
More streak Tony.

Speaker 17 (55:01):
I don't know if you knew that or not, but
he every single game and played, I believe, twenty minutes
score two points. You could tell he was, you know,
emotionally and physically upset on the court and just didn't
play his game. And I love that he came back
and responded with a close to thirty point performance to
pull the team over the victory because that was that
felt like a tournament game to me. Oklahoma's playing for
their Yeah, you know, I think they're on the bubble

(55:22):
right now, playing to get in in Kentucky.

Speaker 8 (55:25):
Kentucky.

Speaker 17 (55:25):
Way put him on the back and won that game,
huge win on the road in SEC.

Speaker 6 (55:29):
As a UC fan who's living on every bubble team,
it was refreshing seeing O Way lead the team down
the stretch and knock off Oklahoma.

Speaker 8 (55:38):
Welcome.

Speaker 6 (55:38):
What is it as well about in today's world? And
with this Kentucky team you mentioned so many guys that
can shoot the three. Always feels like a little bit
of a throwback player because he's physical, likes to get
to the rim, shooting almost fifty percent from the field.
He can still shoot it outside, but he likes to
get to the basket as well. He feels a little
bit like a throwback in the sense that he's not
just looking to shoot threes when he's out there.

Speaker 7 (56:00):
He can get to the rim.

Speaker 17 (56:03):
Yeah, he's a flasher, he's a scorer. I always joke
on our podcast that quit shooting three that way, take
your big body down low and go draw foul or
you know, penetrating dish. That's what he plays. I'm gonna
throw it back to some old school Kentucky fans. Keith
Bogans is who he reminds me of. The Bogans will
put his head down and get to the lane and score.

(56:23):
At Will pretty much put the ball in a sip
and just drive. And that's what always say is so
good at Me showed that against Oklahoma.

Speaker 6 (56:30):
How how do you view this team when it comes
to March madness, when it comes to seating, because there
are so many top ten wins. They beat Duke when
they were in the top ten, beat Gonzaga, knocked off Florida,
as you mentioned, you mentioned two wins against Tennessee. Their
resume from a quad one one a wins standpoint is incredible.

(56:52):
They also have suffered losses and the Clemson loss doesn't
look as bad right now because Clemson's been fantastic in
the ACC. We saw what Georgia just did to Florida.
Vanderbilt is a team that's right now on the right
side of the bubble. We know, and we won't bring
up the Arkansas game with Kentucky fans listening because we're
moving on to brighter pastors here. But how do you

(57:13):
view this team and how do you think the selection
committee will view this team come selection Sunday.

Speaker 17 (57:20):
Yeah, in Ohio State as well. Right, that was a
tough game right around Christmas in New Year's times. I'm
not sure what happened there, but maybe.

Speaker 8 (57:27):
They're too busy focused.

Speaker 17 (57:28):
On their presence and playing the game. But I think
this is probably a four or five seed team in
my opinion. But it seems like they're trending towards a three,
which obviously tomorrow's game. If if they can take care
of business and beat Auburn at home, I would say
they're a pretty firm three at that point. I don't
think the SEC tournament is going to matter too much
on seating. I think the selection committee's got so much

(57:50):
on their hands already. I don't think they're going to
take a ton of that in consideration. I've kind of
learned that from years past two like that Sunday game,
the SEC, they've already got their mind made up by them.
So I would say, you know, betting man, I'd probably
say we're a strong four now. I'd rather be a three.
I'd love them to wait till the Elite eight to
play a one seed if we get there, obviously, So

(58:10):
I'm hoping for a three, and I think we have
the ability to get to a three if we can.
I think win two of the next three. Missouri is
gonna be another tough game next weekend, I believe.

Speaker 8 (58:19):
So that's you know, got.

Speaker 17 (58:20):
Three home three regular season games left. I think we
need to win two a three. I think if we
beat Auburn, we'll splidify a three seed for sure in
the tournament.

Speaker 6 (58:28):
Incredible when you mentioned earlier thinking about a possible seven
seed in an SEC tournament, but a three seed in
the NCAA tournament shows the depth and the power of
the SEC this year. That power, that depth is led
by Auburn, who is operated out of the number one
slot for much of this season. I don't envy Auburn's

(58:48):
finish to the season at Kentucky, at Texas A and
m home versus Alabama, but this team is taken care
of business in so many impressive ways. What is it
about Auburn in your opinions them as the number one
team in the nation with what Bruce Pearl has done.

Speaker 17 (59:04):
Yeah, I mean it always just like an any sport, right,
I mean the Bangs. You've got a head coach, and
you got a playmaker. You got Jamar Chase, you got
you got Joe Burr, you got a great coach. That's
the same thing here with Salburne, You've got a great coach.
I know a lot of Exucky fans are going to
boo to that comment, but he is a great coach.
When we were looking for a coach I was I
was hopeful to potentially maybe get Bruce Burrow. I heard
he had interest. I love his passion. I know he

(59:25):
can be frustrating at times on the other side, but
he's one of those guys you want to root if
he's on your side. I was obviously very happy we
got Mark Pope and still am. But and then you
got jan I Broom Right, Broom is in my opinion,
the best player in the country. H They need to
give it to him over Cooper Flag mainly because he's
a Dukie and we don't want Dukies to win that
as a Kentucky fan, but.

Speaker 8 (59:46):
That's my opinion there too.

Speaker 17 (59:47):
And then you know Baker Massar is another great player
that's really stepped up this year for him and playing
a little bit under twenty five minutes a game, I believe,
so he doesn't get a lot of playing time. I
think he's got into foul trouble but you know another
tough guard that that really makes a tick for them.
Got one thing I will say Tony were talking about
earlier is all these guys for Kentucky. I've been preaching
on our wildcatch out of come tournament time, if we're healthy,

(01:00:07):
played seven or eight guys, so you know, let them
a play thirty minutes. You know, let Kobe Braya play
twenty five thirty he needs to get six seven threes off.
We'll play our guys. And that's one thing Auburn does.
They play about six guys deep twenty five minutes or more,
and that's really their their mojo and they stick to
it and play your best guys.

Speaker 8 (01:00:25):
Right. That's that's something.

Speaker 17 (01:00:25):
That I hope that we do as Wildcats because are
our top five and we got you know, Garrison and Brayoff.

Speaker 9 (01:00:31):
Events are just studs that I like.

Speaker 17 (01:00:33):
The seven we have Almanor and Perry and know, a
great season, but we'll see you next year kind of.
I don't think that's that's my opinion.

Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
So it always feels like as you get to mid
February in early March, it's time to start solidifying those
seven or eight guys. Obviously in foul trouble, You're going
to have emergency guys that go in. And that's a
great thing about Kentucky's playing so many guys that if
they do have to go to someone, you think they
can certainly answer the bell. But I'm in complete agreement.
You get to say, and you get to eight, you
make a move, and you go with that. For things

(01:01:03):
to go well on Saturday, these two teams, this is
the only time they're going to meet this season. What
does Kentucky need to do to find a way to
get this win Tomorrow?

Speaker 17 (01:01:14):
They might meet on Sunday in the SEC Tournament if
things go well, that's true, Yeah, I think I think
that the answer is Broom. You got to shut him down.
He's you know, he's double double guy twenty and eleven.

Speaker 16 (01:01:25):
I believe.

Speaker 17 (01:01:26):
The crazy thing for me is that I've noticed watching
them as he averages I think close to Forrests. It's
the game too, so he really can do it all.
I don't know how you slow him down. I don't
have that answer. I think Omar has got to play
his best game of the season on him. Cars had
a bad back in the last couple of months. He's
playing through that. I'm hoping Carr can help Spell some
time there and throw a second body on Broom. But

(01:01:47):
you know that's really the answer is how do you
get him from having an underwhelming game because he's the
player of the year. He's a stud and I think
these last four or five minutes of the game, I
do think it's gonna be close. I think Kentucky will
play well. I do think it's going to go through
Burm's hands every possession of the last couple of minutes,
and just got to get big stops like we did
against Flag and Duke earlier in the year.

Speaker 6 (01:02:08):
We talked the first time we got together about Mark Pope.
Obviously there's more of a sample size now. I can't
even imagine the task that Mark Pope had coming in
with a roster of zero and to not only put
a competitive team out there, but a team with the
resume now that Kentucky has. I know for some Kentucky
fans they were a little hesitant when the hire was made.

(01:02:31):
At this point in the season, I would imagine Kentucky
fans are static about Mark Pope being the future of
Kentucky basketball.

Speaker 7 (01:02:39):
Yeah, we are.

Speaker 17 (01:02:40):
And it's funny Kentucky fans are crazy, right, And there's
times when we lose a game and the sky is
falling because that's what we do. But overall it's been
a refreshing positive just everything about him.

Speaker 18 (01:02:51):
He you know, he oh my gosh.

Speaker 17 (01:02:53):
Instead of you know, he just drops them a nice
guy comments.

Speaker 19 (01:02:56):
Right.

Speaker 17 (01:02:57):
I think they did catch him the other day drive
I did.

Speaker 7 (01:02:59):
I saw that, which.

Speaker 17 (01:03:01):
Which I love that bring out the dark smart a
little bit, yeah, smart, time to get I was actually
wanting him to get a technical in that Alabama game.
I don't know if you saw or not, but a
ref was like staring him down and walking him down
the sideline on a bad call.

Speaker 19 (01:03:16):
That Mark was upset about.

Speaker 17 (01:03:17):
And if I was in his shoes, I would have
got technical there to kind of show hey, look I
can get I can get mean too. But you know,
we love our guy. Obviously, we're big on heritage and
he's our dude, and we love what he's doing and
excited to see what he's going to do, not only
this year, but really in the future. He's already doing
a great job on the recruiting trail, got Jasper Johnson

(01:03:38):
coming in next year. Stu malcom Reno stuff from Kentucky.
So just doing all the right things, and we're we're excited. Man,
it's exciting stuff over here at Big Blue Nation.

Speaker 6 (01:03:47):
Before I let you go, I would be remiss not
to ask. Earlier in the week, Saint John's beats Butler,
Saint John's clinches a share of the Big East championship,
which makes Rick Patino the first coach ever to win
five regular season conference titles with five different teams, Boston, Kentucky, Louisville, Iona,
Saint John's. Time has passed, and I know Kentucky fans

(01:04:07):
have their certain feelings. What's your feeling when it comes
to the legacy and the continued dominance now, Rick Patino, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:04:16):
Yeah, I'll be honest on you.

Speaker 8 (01:04:17):
I love it.

Speaker 17 (01:04:17):
I mean, that's he's somebody that I really kind of
got familiar with the brand, you know, in the nineties
and was kind of our guy. Was very upset when
he left in ninety seven, but I also understood it
and then got Telby in and we were happy won
a championship in year one, right crazy, Maybe Mark Boop
will do the same. A little foreshadowing there, hopefully, But
I'm so excited and prout of Patina what he's done.

(01:04:38):
I mean they've got four losses by I think it
combines seven points. Just absolutely incredible. I mean the Big
East is nowhere near the SEC or obviously big twelve
like you see he's going through, but impressive, and I
think it's going to be fun to see what they
can do in the tournament.

Speaker 8 (01:04:52):
Patino can coach.

Speaker 17 (01:04:53):
Everybody knows that, and that could be a sneaky final
fourteen potentially, So it's going to be fun to watch.
What a great march we got coming up. I'm hoping
some more local teams get in there and can make
this thing fun. I'll be in Vegas during the first
round of tournament, so it's gonna be really fun out there.
Hope I don't spend too much money on my cat
like I did last year when.

Speaker 7 (01:05:11):
Oh Quinn put it down in my heart.

Speaker 17 (01:05:13):
First night in Vegas is very very disappointing out there,
so we'll see what happens.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
It is a loaded hoops weekend, Texas, A and M's

at Tennessee, you see Houston and so many others. Bill,

Speaker 22 (01:08:17):

dead last in the MLB. That's embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
Cheeks yep, had a strong week, you Congressmann had a

Speaker 23 (01:08:38):
Talk back, Mike hey Man, tgi s. It's a beautiful
day out. We got Joe Burrow, we got Eli Daala
Cruz missile. It's just a great time of the assisted

I put one hundred dollars on that.

Speaker 8 (01:08:53):
That hits us. Sakes on me, y'all.

Speaker 23 (01:08:56):
But only other thing I'm trying to figure out, Yeah,
anything training, everybody talked about it.

Speaker 8 (01:09:01):
I just want this to be over.

Speaker 19 (01:09:02):
What's the real is the time cable these contracts?

Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
If they don't have him done by July first, it's
gonna get ugly.

Speaker 8 (01:09:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:09:08):
Also, shout out to Mike sent me some clips of
him performing.

Speaker 7 (01:09:12):
On I forgot to watch.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Big shout out to Mikey Dumb I forgot.

Speaker 19 (01:09:21):
Yeah, Greg Sharonville, you know Tony in the uh West
Virginia loss. Our guards took thirty five shots. They weren't
on Van Diego one shot.

Speaker 8 (01:09:31):
Well.

Speaker 19 (01:09:31):
I was at fifth third for the last two and
I saw a lot of ball sharing. I saw the
extra pass and to me, if they that carries over
to Saturday, I think we have a shot.

Speaker 7 (01:09:43):
Okay, I like that, Greg, I like that.

Speaker 10 (01:09:47):
Friday my.

Speaker 24 (01:09:52):
Honor.

Speaker 10 (01:09:53):
Sprinkle Yeah, couty day hoop.

Speaker 7 (01:09:56):
Oh this your final.

Speaker 10 (01:10:01):
It was sprinkle beautiful sunny whom spring like that?

Speaker 7 (01:10:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (01:10:10):
The heavy steph Kerry who Dad? Go back out?

Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
Man, Okay, it has been a minute.

Speaker 8 (01:10:21):
Former President Ronald rigging Well, I don't.

Speaker 7 (01:10:25):
I don't feel so well. I gotta I'm gonna cancel
this talk back then, Thank you, Ron.

Speaker 25 (01:10:30):
I've been thinking about this since yesterday. Man, I better
not see Stewart Fairchild on.

Speaker 8 (01:10:36):
The opening day roster bro Like.

Speaker 25 (01:10:39):
I've never seen a player get more love than Stuart
Fairchild that has done nothing. All my friends love to
a fair Child. I know so many Rex fans. It
loves to a fair Child. I can't stand still a
fair Child. Please please don't have one.

Speaker 7 (01:10:54):
The roster that is breakout, that is breakout player of
the year. Candidate.

Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Here's thinking about Dewey longballs. He made a couple of
good catches last year. I had a couple dingers. He
was halfway decent against left handed pitching over the last
two years. He makes really good tiktoks with his either
wife or girlfriend who's like TikTok famous. That's really the
extent of it. I even heard from some that believe

(01:11:20):
Stuart's good defensive plays or a result on the fact
that he doesn't get a good read on the ball
and so he has to dive.

Speaker 25 (01:11:28):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
I said it to Joe Danoman on Tuesday. Can we
be done with the Stuart Fairchild experiment? The experience? And
Joe kind of pushed back on me, and I normally
default to Joe's expertise, but I agree with this talkbacker.
I'm kind of done with Stuart Fairchild.

Speaker 26 (01:11:44):
Hey guys, Happy Friday, talk Backs matters guy, wondering if
you could help me out on something I've seen that
Pete Alonso did the recall the.

Speaker 7 (01:11:55):
Strike or I'm sorry a ball that was called a strike?

Speaker 27 (01:11:59):
Is that actually gonna be used during the year? Is
that something trial during pre season? I really wasn't for
sure about it and I thought you guys could educate
me on that. And Peppermint Patty by the way, thank you.

Speaker 7 (01:12:12):
Sorry, it's Peppy Patty Man. Here's my thing.

Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
How many talkbackers do we have that when they leave
a talkback, they have to let us.

Speaker 7 (01:12:21):
Know who they are. It's pretty amazing. We know, we
know who you are.

Speaker 4 (01:12:29):
I think people do it without even realizing it. Yeah,
you know, so, I don't even know if it's anyways.
The Automated ball strike system is being tested at the
major league level during spring training. It's been in the
minors for a couple of years. It is not going
to be in the major leagues in the regular season.

Speaker 28 (01:12:45):
There you go, Tony Austin from Mount Healthy got a
start bench cut b.

Speaker 18 (01:12:51):
What would you rather do on a Friday night? Money
is no option?

Speaker 5 (01:12:54):
Oh?

Speaker 28 (01:12:54):
Would you rather go to Jeff Ruby's for a nice
dinner downtown and then go to an OTR.

Speaker 18 (01:13:00):
Bar for after dinner drinks than home?

Speaker 28 (01:13:02):
Would you rather go to a pre concert bar for
some drinks and then go to a concert a US
Bank arena? Or would you rather stay at home with
some friends? Three or four of your best friends have
a fon doing white night?

Speaker 7 (01:13:16):
What's fond.

Speaker 6 (01:13:17):
Yeah, I'm not a big fond guy, but I am.
I am a fan. It's like a chocolate or a cheese,
one of the two. I am a big fan of
hanging out at the house, though I'm also a big
fan of concerts. So can you just do the like
you do this so much? They give you a start,
bench start hanging at the house. I will bench going
to a concert, and I'll cut the steakhouse. I love steakhouses,
but I'm just not as formal at my age.

Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Now, I've been in the mood to go to like
a nice dinner, So I'm gonna start that. I'm gonna
start Jeff Rubies, I'm gonna bench hang out with my friends,
and I'm gonna cut a concert.

Speaker 29 (01:13:47):
Also, just a question, do you guys feel the same
way about Duke Tobin as I do. I think Duke
Cobin is pissed off at Katie and Troy Blackburn and
Mike Brown. I think he's the director of Player Personnel
but not a real GM so he doesn't really handle
the contracts. That's Katie and Troy and Mike, and I
just feel like his press conference about being pissed that

(01:14:08):
his defense wasn't good enough and being pissed about a
lot of areas of his team was directly just angry
at ownership.

Speaker 18 (01:14:14):
Get it freaking done. What do you think?

Speaker 7 (01:14:17):
I don't know if I'm there yet. I think there's
something there.

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
I agree with that statement because Duke has been under
fire more than almost anybody, sure over the last twelve months. Sure,
and you know we call him the GM or the
de facto GM. Yes, you know who really is a GM?

Speaker 8 (01:14:37):
Katie.

Speaker 4 (01:14:38):
Katie is the one who's negotiating these contracts, right Katie,
and Duke is the one who's trying to make it
all work together.

Speaker 7 (01:14:44):
I get the feeling it's a hard job to do.

Speaker 8 (01:14:46):
It is.

Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
It's also a hard job to do when you have
two people trying to do essentially the same job. I
do think there was some pressure applied by Duketob who
is probably rightfully so tired of his name getting dragged
to the mud.

Speaker 30 (01:15:01):
I'd say Steph Curry, Timberway calling it off at the
last second and excusable terrible, needs to be more professional.

Speaker 8 (01:15:09):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
I would definitely sign Zeidler.

Speaker 7 (01:15:15):
I mean, my Lakota.

Speaker 30 (01:15:17):
You see, math tells me that six is better than
sixty four or sixty seven.

Speaker 7 (01:15:24):
Oh, have a great weekend. You too, you too, man,
Thank you. Good to hear from.

Speaker 11 (01:15:28):
This ad brought to you by dictionary dot Com New
Free Ads. Tony, you were not trying to persuade your son.
You were trying to persuade your sign pr s u
A d Skyland Chili mad props to you for giving
away the thousand dollars gift card.

Speaker 8 (01:15:49):
I did not win, but I.

Speaker 11 (01:15:50):
Did drop seventy seven Georgie's yesterday at your restaurant.

Speaker 4 (01:15:57):
Wow, that's impressive. All right then, yeah, he struggles with
the end persuade. That's fine.

Speaker 8 (01:16:03):
All right. I'm gonna answer today's pull question.

Speaker 7 (01:16:05):
I will choose other. I'm gonna go with the guy
who played with the Chargers for a little bit.

Speaker 31 (01:16:11):
He I think it says he made one hundred and
fifty three thousand dollars per passe attend throughout his career.

Speaker 7 (01:16:16):
That's Chase Daniel back a quarterback, probably one of.

Speaker 8 (01:16:20):
The easiest gigs in the world.

Speaker 31 (01:16:22):
He's probably had coffee in his gap the whole time.

Speaker 19 (01:16:25):
Yeah, yeah, give me Chase Dames.

Speaker 7 (01:16:28):
I will not stand for disparaging.

Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
No, Chase Daniel is what we wanted you to be,
which was play for ten years. Get about forty snaps
and make forty million dollars would have been nice, man.
I think another sneaky good one on there is Kawhi Leonard,
who has died like five times in five years and
just like one hundred and forty million dollars.

Speaker 32 (01:16:48):
Hey, dude's Brandon and Anderson. We've been timing on concert cancelations.
Back in seven, I was playing drums in a metal
core band and we have signed a record deal. We
were out headlining a tour in Allentown, Pennsylvania, a place
called the Crocodile Rock Wow super Bowl. Our singers about
six or seven snake bites in. She passes out hugging
the toilet. We had to have our bass player announced

(01:17:11):
that we were not gonna be able to perform because
our singer had suddenly fallen out.

Speaker 7 (01:17:15):
Oh man, lord, that would be tough. What's a snake bite?

Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
A proverbial tough pill to swallow? That would be what's
a snake bite? I don't think we want to know, Johnny,
I don't think you want one.

Speaker 33 (01:17:26):
I can't believe my ears. TP fifteen off the UCA Bandwagon.
What's going on there in aharsh studios. What's next, You're
gonna quit watching wrestling too?

Speaker 7 (01:17:37):
Nope you nope, just trying to motivate here.

Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
You're gonna have to check for a potential gas leak
in the studio.

Speaker 7 (01:17:44):
Just trying to motivate. Yeah, yeah, everybody listens.

Speaker 24 (01:17:48):
Happy Friday, guys, Hope you have a good week Tamberam
Kentucky would be a seven or eight seed. I love Kentucky,
but yeah, it's been It's been a different year and
positive year though. So it all depends on whether Butler
and Richardson are in the game, So one or the

(01:18:11):
other or both. Okay, have a good weekend, guys.

Speaker 7 (01:18:15):
Thank you. You see, maybe you do need them to
introduce themselves.

Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
Okay, repping in Nattie out here, Sonny hot and z
on it.

Speaker 7 (01:18:20):
What up Tony?

Speaker 12 (01:18:21):
What up?

Speaker 8 (01:18:21):
Addie? What a Tony?

Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
My brother?

Speaker 34 (01:18:23):
You're thinking with that wallet, not with that hard My
cats will get that win. Seventy five seventy four one
point blowout, Tizsel James game winner shot or seems uh
zevy by ten of a Creighton. I don't see how
you pick against Xavier in that match. I don't feel
it it's middle of time, steal and nkau will get
that win. This is day time to march on FCC.

(01:18:45):
Let's go, let's get it tonight.

Speaker 24 (01:18:48):
Okay, Hey, Also, Tony and Autie, thank you for having
an interview on Kentucky. Was really a joy to hear.
So also talk had a great weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:19:01):
Always love listening to you too. Thank you.

Speaker 9 (01:19:05):
Okay, Friday Fellas, Hey, Okay, pretty stoked to leave it.

Speaker 35 (01:19:10):
Talk back about the keys to the victory for the
Bearcats tomorrow. And then uh, Tony just takes Houston. Well,
I guess we can pray that the flu bug or
something hits at Houston locker room. Pretty hard.

Speaker 8 (01:19:29):
Go Cats.

Speaker 6 (01:19:30):
Anyway, Thanks, I'll check it. We'll see if we'll see
what the health report looks like. It's called kiss of death.
That's what I'm trying.

Speaker 7 (01:19:36):
To do here.

Speaker 8 (01:19:37):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
I went to the mall yesterday to pick up a
couple of things, and as I was checking out, the
woman that was ringing me up had gloves on and
a face mask. And I wasn't paying attention to it.
I didn't really care. She must have thought that I
was like staring at her. Sure, and she goes, well,
the reason I have all this on. She's just like,

(01:20:01):
I've caught the flu three times from working here, and
I'm like, oh okay.

Speaker 7 (01:20:06):
I was like, yeah, I get it. I know it's
going around, and.

Speaker 4 (01:20:08):
She goes, I didn't even wear a mask in COVID
unless I had to, Okay. I was like, all right, cool. Uh,
I'm it's good that you're being safe.

Speaker 17 (01:20:18):
Man, Tony be Thick, the male man.

Speaker 19 (01:20:27):
These wars.

Speaker 36 (01:20:29):
I just wanted to keep us strong week as you
guys are saying, and let you know, it's Friday, and
you know what that means, don't you tomorrow Saturday?

Speaker 8 (01:20:39):
That's right, you guys?

Speaker 22 (01:20:41):
Right?

Speaker 4 (01:20:42):
Ever, come on, it is true. Carmel Line at the
Loan two shooting too too.

Speaker 18 (01:20:48):
I agree, no more.

Speaker 37 (01:20:51):
Stuart Fairchild, yes man, hey guys in top back matter, guys,
that's pepper in his I will say, I am Peppy
Patty from the Natty, but it originally was Peppermint Patty.

Speaker 5 (01:21:06):
I've been Peppermint Patty my whole life.

Speaker 24 (01:21:07):
It became a nickname from Peanuts and my email is
Peppermint something something Patty.

Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Oh so I don't know.

Speaker 12 (01:21:17):
Maybe he knew that, so he's not wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
Well for your sake. I hope he didn't know that.

Speaker 7 (01:21:21):
Patty.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
You know one of my favorite talkbackers of old time
is Peppermint Patty from the Cincinnati.

Speaker 8 (01:21:30):
So you know who I am?

Speaker 7 (01:21:33):
Are you the CIA?

Speaker 18 (01:21:34):
Are yet?

Speaker 8 (01:21:35):
Pi?

Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
You know where I am?

Speaker 7 (01:21:39):
I guess I would always have to sounds like he's
on a paintball field.

Speaker 10 (01:21:45):
Have a good weekend, guys, see you.

Speaker 7 (01:21:47):
I know for a fact that's the paintball good rule.

Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
I think he left that talkback on the car phone,
which not good.

Speaker 8 (01:21:53):
Believe a snake bite?

Speaker 7 (01:21:55):
Is you come Jack and line juice? Nope? Oh yeah,
you probably wouldn't deferred to John does not sound fun.
That's terrible, six or seven.

Speaker 18 (01:22:05):
Of those, Audie, Why don't you know what fondu is?
Bro Uh, it's cheese.

Speaker 8 (01:22:16):
It's like Milton cheese.

Speaker 7 (01:22:19):
Sure, there's like fondu fountains.

Speaker 18 (01:22:21):
Maybe Jeff Rubies will have some on the menu down there.

Speaker 4 (01:22:24):
Well, normally I just called normally, I just called cheese cheese.

Speaker 7 (01:22:28):
You should. You should have a fond night watching m
W and us introducing ourselves, our names, the personas man.

Speaker 8 (01:22:40):
It's part of the culture that you all creative talk back.
You just have our moment.

Speaker 7 (01:22:46):
Maybe it's just maybe it's just talk back matters guy
that bothers me. Then everything he does bothers me. I
think that's what it is. It's just a clue. Please
continue to introduce yourself. That was our last one. You
know what.

Speaker 6 (01:22:57):
I think it might have been because he gave him
himself the nickname.

Speaker 7 (01:23:01):
That might have been it. That is true. Hold on,
we just had one more come in.

Speaker 18 (01:23:06):
Can you whistle while you work?

Speaker 8 (01:23:08):
Duke does, Zach does. Didn't know Duke did.

Speaker 7 (01:23:14):
I've been whistling a lot.

Speaker 6 (01:23:16):
I can't whistle. That's what I keep doing. I can't whistle. Well,
we'll name a winner when we come back.

Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
I can't really whistle. I can only do like little
spurts of whistling.

Speaker 7 (01:23:26):
Sure, thanks for that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:28):
But I did notice that when Duke was talking that
there is a slight whistle Mike. Mike Brown does that too.
Zach has a whistle. I think what's funny is you know,
Duke and Mike have worked together for over twenty years, now,
twenty five years. I think Duke is very similar in
the way that he speaks, like the way he sounds,
their sentence structure and so on. Sure, I think he

(01:23:50):
it's I think he's kind of taken on a little
bit of Mike Brown's vocabulary that makes sense, or cadence,
I should say, whistling's okay.

Speaker 7 (01:23:57):
They don't have any problem with speech.

Speaker 4 (01:23:59):
I would never I never would have known someone about speech,
never would have noticed it if it wasn't work they use.

Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
I'm not like that.

Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
I have I noticed it with you because it's in
studio headphones, in my yours every day. Sure, but I
never would have noticed it about Zach until Chris and
Alexandria's talkbacks.

Speaker 6 (01:24:16):
He highlights it a little bit at a high level,
used to we will, We'll take a break when we
come back. We'll name a winner for this week for
a Cinti Shirts gift card on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station. Thanks to Cinti.

Speaker 13 (01:24:28):

Speaker 8 (01:25:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:25:37):
Shout out to the little Caesar salad today. Yeah, oh
my gosh, shout out to the trail.

Speaker 8 (01:25:43):
Let's go.

Speaker 7 (01:25:43):

bar high. Here we go, Sony.

Speaker 31 (01:26:27):
I feel your pain because now I have hope we
beat better. And I'm smoking after Houston where the Jamps reside.
The dogs were Cincinnati gonna eat them alive. Not a
quiet when would be good, much better than that community.

Speaker 8 (01:26:50):
College and.

Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
Go back, Jeff Henry kind of sounded like old Jeff.
Looks like I saved that one twice. It improves the
odds for somebody.

Speaker 38 (01:27:08):
Hey, Tony, this is doctor Phil, just checking in on you, bud.

Speaker 7 (01:27:13):

Introspection, the self reflection, and you're asking.

Speaker 8 (01:27:19):
The right questions.

Speaker 38 (01:27:21):
Why are these sports teams making you so angry?

Speaker 7 (01:27:25):
You know it's taking money out of your pocket.

Speaker 28 (01:27:27):
It might be affecting your relationship with your spouse, it
might be causing ed.

Speaker 18 (01:27:33):
These things can.

Speaker 7 (01:27:34):
Make you go limp. But hang in there by.

Speaker 8 (01:27:37):

Speaker 8 (01:28:53):
That's okay.

Speaker 16 (01:28:54):
Some more marketing podcast is shutn putting stretch, shipping SuDS
and getting silvery broughts you by Skyline to kill a Tuesday,
getting tore down with Tito brought to you by Tito's

(01:29:17):
not my cologne, that's Platinum pull through.

Speaker 7 (01:29:22):
So good hair, tore down with Tito good hair.

Speaker 38 (01:29:25):
Kyla's hank Hill here with a double alogized.

Speaker 8 (01:29:29):
But I was just thinking.

Speaker 38 (01:29:30):
And the big rocks Skyline Mountain, you never change your sucks,
and the little streams of Skyline come a trickling down
their rocks. The brake man have to tip their hats
and the hens lace soft bold eggs. Well, there's a
lake of stew and a whiskey. Two. You can travel
all around them in a big canoe and the big

(01:29:52):
rocks Caline Mountains.

Speaker 7 (01:29:54):
That's so good, well done, last one.

Speaker 8 (01:29:58):
Talk like a feeling.

Speaker 33 (01:29:59):
I feel like a sound Kevin in Nordic Kentucky around
now the talkbacks down, soup, blue.

Speaker 8 (01:30:03):
Cap e, mojic confusion. Need to hear Tea. You're soon
going to get your back, but right now, son, you
are about to be tagged.

Speaker 4 (01:30:11):
Gosh man, that is such a good list this week,
good day, love what well love what z our Hughson
left us. But their Hughson was wonderful. I'm going with
the Warbler just because he had two this week. Yeah,
the day is twice. The mailman had a strong week,
I believe left a talkback every single day. Yep uh
and two of them, two out of his five ended

(01:30:33):
up quality and quantity.

Speaker 18 (01:30:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:30:36):
I mean that's those are quad one talkbacks quad once
And I mean, how do you ignore that?

Speaker 8 (01:30:41):
I mean.

Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
The mailman shout out to the mail this week, mailman,
keep an eye on your email. I'm gonna send you
one over here. The next couple of minutes, try to
get some information from.

Speaker 6 (01:30:52):
Awesome we've got. At the top of the hour, Tommy
g joined us, Do I have time for a phone
call here?

Speaker 7 (01:31:01):
Yes? Greg has been holding on us for a while.
What's up, Greg?

Speaker 8 (01:31:04):
Hey, how's it going?

Speaker 1 (01:31:06):
Hey?

Speaker 19 (01:31:06):
You know a couple a couple of positives that I've
seen out of the Red So for number one, Nick Martinez,
two innings, thirteen pitches, thirteen strikes. But the biggest one
is the other day I saw a couple of innings
of the replay of the Reds and the Angels, and
I saw Matt McClain. The Angels had a triple digit

(01:31:29):
pitcher in there and he tried to get one inside
on McClane. He turned on it, yep, and just ripped
it down in the corner. So to me, that's a
big that's a big worry for right now. You know,
his health is very important. Plus the thing is i'd
just like to see.

Speaker 8 (01:31:45):
The guy at play.

Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
Yeah, that was definitely a good sign.

Speaker 19 (01:31:49):
Okay, now here. The most important thing at first, I
wasn't gonna reason I stayed on holts Well is because
of the fact when my wife got out of the car.
He said, if you talk to Tony, find out where
that new story is he's talking about, because I got
to be there. I said, Okay, if I talked to Tony,
I'll find out the car. When you were talking about

(01:32:13):
bobbleheads and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
Oh yeah, card Stocks, I was at Oh car Stocks.

Speaker 19 (01:32:18):
Okay, So where is it?

Speaker 7 (01:32:20):
Ken Wood Road?

Speaker 19 (01:32:22):
Okay, all right, good yep. That's the reason I hung on.

Speaker 7 (01:32:29):
You got to make her happy. I get it.

Speaker 19 (01:32:31):
I got and one other thing I want to tell you.
We took the three and a half year old grand
daughter up to Mad Tree a couple of saturdays ago.
Trust me, it was fun, but it was mad.

Speaker 7 (01:32:44):
I can understand. All right, that's going to be a madhouse.
Thank you, Greg.

Speaker 19 (01:32:48):

Cincinnati Sports station. Thank you to our friends at SINTI shirts.

Speaker 14 (01:33:21):
This Must Get Tier Minute is presented by CTI Clinical
Trial and Consulting.

Speaker 39 (01:33:27):
I'm Joe Sunderman along with Byron Larkin Xavier along with Villanova,
the best two free throw shooting teams in the Big
East as we looked at the stats at this moment,
and Dylan Swain right now has a shooting percentage of
eighty four percent from the free throw line. That's fourth
best from the free throw line and the Big East.

(01:33:48):
And I'm a little bit surprised by that because he
struggles with his three point shot, but his free throw
is a gorgeous shot and his three point shots coming around.
What makes him such a good free throw shooter? And
how does he move that beyond the fifteen feet out
beyond the three point arc and become very very skilled there?

Speaker 40 (01:34:03):
Also, I think he's just a good free He's a
good shooter, and that's reflected in his free throws. Now,
why he doesn't shoot a lot of threes, he just
doesn't have confidence in it. He just needs to to
get in the get in the gym and shoot it. Now,
I think he's three for thirteen from behind the arc
on the year, and he worked a lot in the offseason.

(01:34:26):
But he needs to just see the ball go in
to be able to expand that game out to the
three point line. He should have confidence because when he's
got the free throw line you and I, it shows.

Speaker 7 (01:34:37):
That he's a very good shooter.

Speaker 8 (01:34:38):
He just has to go out and do it.

Speaker 39 (01:34:40):
His free throws are clean, he's using the net most
of the time, barely uses a real.

Speaker 40 (01:34:43):
Yeah, he is, he's he just needs It's a confidence
thing with him. But once he gets that part to
his game, you better look out, buddy, because he's got
everything else.

Speaker 39 (01:34:52):

You know him now as Galader. It's a one name guy,

(01:36:06):
especially as this team continues a very hot start.

Speaker 7 (01:36:09):
Joining us right now.

Speaker 9 (01:36:10):
What's up, Tommy, Tony, Tony, Tony, Good afternoon.

Speaker 8 (01:36:15):
Good to be here with you, fellas.

Speaker 9 (01:36:17):
I feel like we're in mid season form after Cincinnati's
off and rolling moving on.

Speaker 8 (01:36:21):
Champions Cup, got a big win last weekend. The sun
is shining, life is good.

Speaker 6 (01:36:26):
Your call on Kevin Denke's goal in the seventieth minute
against New York really made it sound like you are
already in mid season form, even though battling the cold.

Speaker 7 (01:36:37):
Let's go back to that.

Speaker 6 (01:36:39):
We'll get to Conker caff But the MLS opener against
a team who knocked f C Cincinnati out last year,
a team who was represented in the MLS Cup Final,
A good start, A solid start, I would say to
the MLS season for f C Cincinnati.

Speaker 9 (01:36:55):
Yeah, I think the productive start is a good way
to put it. Three points, clean sheet for the defense,
and Dank sets the building on fire with that goal.
It was an odd night, it was kind of cold.
They actually weren't able to water the pitch, and andre
Yeddlin said afterwards that that he knew the ball was
going to bounce like that and that therefore he was
trying to set up Kevin on a header there dropping
that ball in and thinking that it would, you know,

(01:37:16):
bounce up to him in a way that normally it wouldn't.
Pat talked to us a little bit about how much not,
you know, having the ball not be able to move
as quickly as they would have liked hurt them in
their game plan in not being able to water the pitch.
But I thought it was a very professional, you know
job by the team and finding a way to get
to win when you consider all the factors. And they

(01:37:38):
were playing in Honduras late on Wednesday night, spent the night,
traveled back Thursday, had one day of training at Mercyl
Training Center to get ready for defending Eastern Conference champions
I thought, I thought they did everything they needed to
do to check the box and get the win.

Speaker 6 (01:37:52):
Yeah, a chance to walk away with three points a
clean sheet on the defensive side of the ball, is it?
I know we talked sometimes from an NFL standpoint or
other sports where maybe one side of the ball is
ahead or slightly ahead of the other early in the season.
Is that the case from a soccer standpoint, do you
oftentimes see maybe the defense a little bit ahead, offense
a little bit ahead.

Speaker 9 (01:38:12):
Where is that stand I don't know. I think we're
kind of figuring all that out right now. Because this
team didn't have a true preseason altogether. Kevin Denka was
part of it, but a Vander got in very late.
A Vander is gonna be a very important piece of
how the attack works. Right, you don't have Matt mi Alaisgaback,
Who's gonna be a very important piece of how the
defense works. I think the defense has been good for

(01:38:35):
the most part with the pieces that are available, and
I'm pretty excited that at some point in March they're
gonna add the twenty twenty three Defender of the Year
back into the mix. So, you know, the pieces have
looked good defensively, but again, you didn't have everybody. Hilberto Flores,
who I think has been phenomenal in the minutes that
we've seen from him. You know, he came into camp late.

(01:38:56):
Lucas Engel was a little bit later into camp. He
wasn't there the entire time. Obviously, Luca Orshano was late arriving,
and then he's had some injuries, so we haven't even
seen Luca in the mix yet.

Speaker 8 (01:39:06):
Yuyakubo was late arriving, so I think, you.

Speaker 9 (01:39:09):
Know, Pat never had the opportunity to run out what
he thought was maybe his his opening day roster in
a preseason game.

Speaker 8 (01:39:16):
You'll see the.

Speaker 9 (01:39:17):
MLB teams, the Red certainly will play a game where
they'll probably start, you know, one through nine what opening
Day will look like, and Pat didn't have that opportunity.
So he's now had three games to start to get
those pieces out on the pitch together. I think Saturday
served as some of that purpose. But again, you know,
Luca Orshano wasn't there, so I don't know that one
unit is ahead of the other in that regards. It's

(01:39:39):
just a matter of getting the chemistry between all these guys,
and when you consider that they didn't have a lot
of time to get the chemistry together, I think you
have to be pretty happy with the results you got
all all factors considered.

Speaker 6 (01:39:49):
I would say just the added bonus of for a
coach knowing that there's a lot that this team can
still do. But at the end of the day, you
still walk away with three points. That against a bona
fide contender in the MLS, a team that knocked out
last year. That has to kind of be the icing
on the cake. As you mentioned, a quick turnaround one
day of preparation. You don't have all the formation set.

(01:40:10):
This team's still learning about each other. It's a lot
easier to go through that when you're doing so after
getting three points.

Speaker 8 (01:40:16):
Yeah, no doubt about it.

Speaker 9 (01:40:17):
And Pat's teams historically have done really well on short rest,
so you know that part doesn't really concern me. I
think this stretch here is gonna be interesting because now
that the team has advanced in Champions Cup, They're gonna
end up playing seven matches in twenty one days, so
there's gonna have to be some more rotation. I'll be
really intrigued when the lineup card comes out tomorrow. You

(01:40:39):
know what the plan is against Philadelphia and who after
three matches in eight days, needs a little bit of
rest this weekend because obviously you want to go to
Phildelphia get a result.

Speaker 8 (01:40:48):
Against a good team. But then you turn around, you come.

Speaker 9 (01:40:51):
Home, you know teams, and you get back one to
two in the morning and we'll get back to the
Queen City, have a recovery day on Sunday, have a
training day Monday, and you're playing Tuesday against a team
from League MX in t Grace. So you know, I
give Pats team's credit because again his record on short
rest is very, very good. But it's tricky early in
the season when you're trying to get guys up to

(01:41:11):
match fitness, to ninety minutes.

Speaker 8 (01:41:12):
Fit and juggling all that.

Speaker 9 (01:41:15):
And I give credit to Patt and his staff for
the way they have managed it historically and certainly are
looking at managing it here in this.

Speaker 7 (01:41:23):
Crazy three weeks to start the season.

Speaker 6 (01:41:25):
Very unique start to the MLS season because you you
go and you play the team that knocked you out
in f C Cincinnati, and now you're going to turn
around and go travel to Philly, who f C Cincinnati
knocked out last season. Philly had a four to two
win to start their season against Orlando. The same question
that we talked about New York last week, what do

(01:41:45):
we know about Philly? Is this a team that is
expected to compete from an MLS standpoint?

Speaker 8 (01:41:50):
Again, Yeah, I think so. I think certainly everybody out
there hope. So they have the pieces.

Speaker 9 (01:41:59):
Last year, they just never really got it together and
then of course they pulled the plug on Jim Curtain
at the end of the season, which was a bit shocking.
You know, one of the longest ten ured coaches in
the league and a track record of success. So they
look a little bit different now and that I think
is interesting to see with the changes under Bradley Carnew.

Speaker 8 (01:42:17):
But they still have a lot of really talented players.

Speaker 9 (01:42:20):
You know, it was shocking when they missed the playoffs
last year, and I think everybody going to take a
deep breath now with the Union and say we got
to get the team back to being a contender, and
I think they got everybody's attention with the way they
played going to Orlando. Everybody thinks Orlando is a contender
in the East. They certainly have been the last couple
of years. Orlando has a lot of talented pieces. They
went into Orlando, which is not an easy place to

(01:42:41):
play in one four to two. So, you know, credit
to Philadelphia for coming out starting the season strong. And
I think this is gonna be a really good test.
I mean, look, these games always have amazing storylines. Even
with Jim Curtin now the storyline, you know, Jim Curtin gone,
the storylines are going to continue, and I think that
it should be another you know, intriguing matchup. Another game

(01:43:02):
is gonna be very difficult. It's a tough place to play.
It's supposed to be pretty windy, so it'll be interesting
to see, you know, gus twenty to thirty miles per hour.
You're right there on the Delaware River, so it tends
to be windier in Chester either way. So that'll be
an interesting factor to kind of see how it plays out.

Speaker 8 (01:43:18):
And I think it's going to be an intriguing game.

Speaker 6 (01:43:20):
How much of a different mindset, is it. Granted this
team has gone on the road, but a team that
is coming together, it's one thing to play in your
own building. A team going on the road, now that's
a different mentality. It's obviously a crazy atmosphere, the fans
are against you. How different does that become? How much
more of a test does that become to a team
as we've described here that's still coming together in some areas.

Speaker 9 (01:43:42):
Yeah, I mean, I think, Look, they had a test
in Honduras with a good crowd on the road, and
these guys have played in tough environments, so I think
they know what to expect.

Speaker 8 (01:43:54):
I think in some ways you.

Speaker 9 (01:43:55):
Feed off that energy, right, rather than going into a
building that's empty or that doesn't have a great culture
or whatever. I think in some ways you you feed
off being the enemy and being booed when you walk
out underneath their supporter section.

Speaker 8 (01:44:07):
So uh, I think I think they'll manage it well.

Speaker 9 (01:44:10):
They have professionals who played, you know, across the globe
now on this roster, in in very hostile environments, and
I think, you know, going to Philadelphia, but again, that
fan base is gonna be energized. They went and won
their season opener. This is their home opener. I expect
that they will have a very good crowd for the match.

Speaker 8 (01:44:26):
But Cincinnati went in there won last year.

Speaker 9 (01:44:28):
They know they can win in that building now, and
you know, hope, hope to keep that rolling and get
a good result, because you want to keep these MLS
results rolling despite the scheduled congestion and the Championship Cup
Champions Cup games they're gonna fall in between. I did
do fund it a little interesting that the way actually
sincinnti's schedule stacks.

Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
Up here early.

Speaker 9 (01:44:49):
All these teams that they're playing to start the MLS
slate don't have these midweek games in between. So you know,
the their opponents like Philadelphia off in the middle of
the week a little bit of a benefit that they
are a little more arrested, a little more fresh than
the c Cincinnati will be.

Speaker 7 (01:45:06):
Uh, we have thanks to aggregate. How about that?

Speaker 6 (01:45:10):
I'm now just throwing all kinds of terms out there.
Thanks to aggregate. FC Cincinnati plays to a drawl midweek
this week thanks to another goal by Kevin Danke, who's
also a red hot start for FC Cincinnati. Talk about
advancing in conca caff and then obviously Tgress waiting what
that matchup and challenge will be for f C Cincinnati

(01:45:32):
next week.

Speaker 9 (01:45:33):
Well, look, by doing what they did in Honduras last
week and winning four to one, they came home with
just a really big advantage and Mataga would face such
a steep climb in knowing that, you know, to advance,
they had to win four to nothing or five to one,
or you know, something beyond that. Four to one would

(01:45:53):
have sent it to extra time, potentially the penalty kicks,
if if matagu would have been able to do that,
and they never really had a chance, right, they got
betterly goal, I think I gave him a little bit
of energy. But then if she Sincanti equalized nine minutes
later on that dan k goal as you're talking about, and.

Speaker 8 (01:46:08):
Then it was kind of just like a stalemate, you know,
a little bit of.

Speaker 9 (01:46:11):
A chess match of holding serve and making sure Matagua
didn't get another one, so didn't give them any hope.
If she sinks downy had some chances, and I think
Pat would have loved to see another goal or two
and gained a little bit of breathing room, but he
still kind of went with the game plan and got
a vander and Dank out of there at halftime, figuring
that that Matago wasn't gonna be able to win it
in forty five minutes by the margin that they had to,

(01:46:33):
you know, and got Miles Robinson out of the game
so he got some rest. Eventually got book out, you know,
unfortunately lost him here daily, you know, and I had
to make that change unexpectedly due to injury.

Speaker 8 (01:46:44):
But no, I think it was a.

Speaker 9 (01:46:46):
Management type game, knowing the advantage you had after the leg,
especially know when the Philadelphia games coming, you want to
get a result in league right and keep your league
standing in a good spot. But then you have the
quick turnaround for T. Grace and you got to get
a result at home against T. Grace to tout yourself
up to go down there and be able to advance.
So no, I think it's it's very much a logistics

(01:47:08):
situation for Pat over these three weeks, and you know,
a lot of it is there's there's so much sports
science behind the management of the guy's bodies, the recovery,
you know, tracking their fitness during the matches, tracking the
number of miles that they're running, and evaluating it and
then you know, a lot of it's talking to the
guys and asking where they're at. So I think that'll
be very closely monitored and you know here as they

(01:47:31):
move forward, but t Grace is going to come in
and be a very formidable opponent and a very big challenge.
But if ect since he can find a way to
get by him, then they're in the quarterfinals of this
tournament and all of a sudden you kind of see
that trophy in that final off from the distance, right
it would, you know?

Speaker 8 (01:47:45):
So I think that's very exciting.

Speaker 6 (01:47:47):
Yeah, I just I think it's interesting to your point,
when you start the season off and you're playing so
many games in a short amount of time. We already
know it's a marathon of a season when it comes
to MLS, but to front load it in that way,
I would imagine it is difficult at times for a
pat noon and the training staff to say, okay, we're
going to try to get wins, but also understanding you

(01:48:09):
want to be playing your best ball with the healthiest
club possible at the end of the year. That's got
to be a lot of juggling early in a season
for a manager, especially with the new club coming together.

Speaker 9 (01:48:19):
Yeah, And I think that's the key, right is you
want to get the minutes with these guys on the
pitch together to get that chemistry together.

Speaker 8 (01:48:24):
But you also don't want to risk any injuries. So
you're not going to risk you know.

Speaker 9 (01:48:29):
Losing Pavel Buca, Orbina Wolbedo for a long stretch of
the regular season, you know.

Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
Right now. But he also got to give results and
you want to win.

Speaker 9 (01:48:37):
So it's a balancing act and I don't think there's
any question about that. But you also know, like you're
gonna get a guy like Luke O'shano back in the
next year, and you get Nick Haglin is coming back
in the mix. You know, he was out there with
the group on Tuesday, he was on the bench on
Wednesday night. We'll see if he's on the bench tomorrow,
but but he's working his fitness back, you know, to
be an option to play on the back line. And
I think we're gonna see this depth come together as

(01:49:00):
comes back into the mix, As Nick and Matt come
back into the mix.

Speaker 8 (01:49:04):
You know, Sergio Santos will be.

Speaker 9 (01:49:05):
Behind them, Dottle Aleezuela as well, and you're gonna have
options not just for the twenty guys who are dressing,
but who's pushing each other in the starting eleven. And
then as you have this scheduled congestion, you're gonna have
options so that the drop off is not as steep
when you're looking at a bit of rotation. And I
think that's gonna be a big, big advantage to Pat
forgetting the results both in this champions Cup competition as

(01:49:27):
well as the MLAST regular season.

Speaker 6 (01:49:29):
Awesome stuff as always, Tommy, I know Philly is always
a good trip, favorite trip of yours. Yeah, enjoy Philly.
Come back home with three points and we'll talk again
next week.

Speaker 8 (01:49:38):
Great city.

Speaker 9 (01:49:40):
I'll tell the Liberty Bell and our boy Connor you
say hello.

Speaker 8 (01:49:44):
Send you regards.

Speaker 9 (01:49:45):
I'm gonna get my favorite chicken I've probably ever had,
is it Philly. So I'm gonna make my watch that
restaurant tonight and get that meal.

Speaker 8 (01:49:52):
I think I'm on like four or five years standing
going straight. You're saying like it's just comfort.

Speaker 9 (01:49:57):
Right like if it's good, and you know, I'm gonna
get a great men and that's where I'm going on.

Speaker 8 (01:50:01):
I need to try anything else.

Speaker 4 (01:50:02):
I think there's still some confetti flying around from the parade.

Speaker 8 (01:50:05):
Yeah, there's no doubt. Okay, there is no question in
my mind. So I'll get a chief take for lunch tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (01:50:11):
I'll be fired up, ready for the game and the
four to chatting with you guys again next Friday.

Speaker 7 (01:50:15):
Have you ever climbed a pole like they do during
those parades?

Speaker 8 (01:50:17):
No, that's insane. No, I buy you my body parts.

Speaker 4 (01:50:20):
Oh I figured you probably did at some point when
we won the Supporters Shield in a.

Speaker 9 (01:50:26):
Parade twenty six I did the capparade in twenty sixteen
in Cleveland, but I did not climb any poles.

Speaker 7 (01:50:30):
Were you shirtless like j R?

Speaker 8 (01:50:32):
Smith? I was not? Okay, my shirt on it. Have respect.

Speaker 7 (01:50:36):
See, these are the important questions.

Speaker 8 (01:50:37):
Tommy, we'll get We're drilling down now. I appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (01:50:41):
Good gracious Tommy, Thank you man. I look forward to
talking again next week. Yep, fellas, pleasure, have great weekend.
That's Tom Gallader, or as we've come to know, just
Galader Galader FC, Cincinnati the Voice. It's since he three
sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to
Penn Station. Let's talk about the red brick legacy. Uh,
come Back on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
Crackh on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati's Sports Station.

Speaker 6 (01:51:11):
Man welcome back since E three to sixty ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks to Penn Station here our
number three.

Speaker 30 (01:51:18):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:51:19):
We've had the folks from Red Brick Legacy in studio
before Kyle Decker Mount McEwan. They've brought help today as well.
You guys are just already growing, already adding together. But
obviously in this world of nil, things continue to grow.
You guys were kind of getting your feet wet a
lot more experience.

Speaker 19 (01:51:39):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:51:41):
I wanted to kind of touch base with where you
guys are at. But before that, do you guys feel
a sense of weight of Cincinnati of Ohio on your shoulders?
With what Travis Steele and the basketball program is doing
right now at Miami of Ohio at twenty one wins,
moving on in the MAC, a legitimate threat to make
the NCAA tournament, which you know is a talking point here.

(01:52:04):
But how about Miami Bank. We didn't talk much about
Miami basketball last time, but Travis Steele building something along
with the new arena.

Speaker 41 (01:52:11):
Absolutely Miami Basketball stock is about as high.

Speaker 7 (01:52:14):
Well hopefully not. You never know. We can make the tournament.

Speaker 41 (01:52:17):
Makes some little march madness run, But no, man, he's
doing a heck of a job and coach Steele is
really getting the guys rolling. And Matt and I were
at the Kent State game and they won and overtime
the place was place had the most energy I've seen
in a long time.

Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
They got Wally coming back. Unbelievable, it's popping up in Oxford.

Speaker 6 (01:52:37):
It makes you realize and this correlates to the NIL
world as well, but it makes you realize it. It's
great to have all the pieces in place. Winning can
just change a ton, and Chuck Martin has certainly done that.
But if you had that element with what Travis Steel
is building, winning maybe allows folks to want to open
up the pocketbooks a little bit more and buy into

(01:52:58):
what is being built. So it just does doesn't become
a one year thing, but is sustainable.

Speaker 41 (01:53:02):
Yeah, I tell you what, Getting this whole NIL thing
a winning program makes a big difference. It's a lot
easier to fundraise some dollars when you got twenty plus
wins in basketball.

Speaker 8 (01:53:13):
We're rolling.

Speaker 7 (01:53:14):
Last time we were here, we had the Snoop dogg.

Speaker 41 (01:53:16):
Yeah, you know, gear flying around and so football was
at a high and then Travis just kept the momentum going.
So it's been a really, really good, good time to
be a Miami Redhawk, Tay.

Speaker 6 (01:53:26):
It seems from just watching along, it's been a successful
off season for Chuck Martin with some of the transfers
that they've been able to land. Obviously trying to retain
guys as well. But it does at least I feel
like it's hard because even following you see as closely
as I do, you see names, but you don't really
know what you got until you start putting the pads
on and getting into practice. But it feels like from

(01:53:47):
a roster building standpoint, there's been a lot of success
with what's being built.

Speaker 7 (01:53:51):
Yeah, we went. I went to the workout.

Speaker 41 (01:53:53):
Coach was like, hey, come on down, check out this
portal class number one portal class by the way, American Conference.
I walk out there and you see Da Kwan Finn,
you see Cordel Russell, these guys, I mean, we look
different and I'm excited about that. And more importantly, as
as Coach Martin would say and the other coaches, they're
they're fitting in the culture, they're on time, their respect.
You know, everyone's really adopted. I was over there with

(01:54:15):
the Sean Payton Cradle coach night and they were all
there engaged. It's just we got a really good thing going.

Speaker 7 (01:54:22):
I know it's early, but we're.

Speaker 41 (01:54:24):
Really excited about this class and what they're doing more
importantly to come part of the culture. And you know
that's that's as we all know culture right now. Money
can't throw money. You got to have culture and dollars.
And I think we're starting to get both running in parallel,
which is going to make us successful.

Speaker 6 (01:54:39):
Culture one of the keywords in any sport that we
talk about. But having that backing as well, these high
school kids they want to learn about the culture, they
want to win. I also want to know how much
money they can get paid, and I think that's trying
to tie that all in together. Gives you more ammunition
when you are a coach and.

Speaker 8 (01:54:55):
You're going on these visits.

Speaker 21 (01:54:56):
Oh absolutely, it's such a critical component now. And one
of the things we're talking about before went on here
is just it's going to be interesting to watch UNC.
I mean with their hire of Bill Belichick and then
Mike Lombardi and his support staff, how they build a
roster and apply what they did with the Patriots down
to the college level is something I think everyone's going
to be paying attention to. And I think are our coaches,

(01:55:17):
not just football, basketball, but even like you know, women's
sports now at Miami. I think they're really kind of
understanding that, you know, how important the transfer portal is,
and then the nil conversation in recruiting because it's such
a core component now, and then you know, really with
the transfer portal to Kyle's point, when you're getting players
in and out, really making sure that you have a
great cultural foundation when new players come in and you're

(01:55:39):
rebuilding the roster essentially every year at least key positions,
that that gets translated over right.

Speaker 4 (01:55:44):
So, yeah, you're right, absolutely. I think it's interesting you
mentioned Belichick. I listened to Rick Patino last week talk
about why he's had success going back to college. He said,
I coached in the NBA and I coached in Greece,
and we deal all the time in one and two
year deals and that's essentially now what you're into with
a lot of these transfers is getting those deals done
and being able to continuously push the roster in that way,

(01:56:08):
and year in and year out, you might take more freshman
one year than in the next based on what that
roster is. But I think there is an interesting parallel
when you talk about a Belichick and a Patino who
have been at the top level now coming back down
and they're kind of the unicorns. Right now, we've seen
coaches jump ship. I don't want to deal with this
in college. This isn't Jay Wright, you know and Nick
Saban's of the world. There's also coaches that are thriving

(01:56:31):
in this new world if you can embrace what the
nil world is.

Speaker 41 (01:56:34):
Have you watched those Patino clips? Oh my god, yes,
it's almost like if so. I started after the Patino clips,
I said, who is coaches coaching hard?

Speaker 7 (01:56:41):
They're not coaching in fear.

Speaker 41 (01:56:42):
And I think that's what Coach Martin's gonna do with
our guys is continue to hold the standard to the
highest level and don't let well this guy transfer. Is
this guy going to do this Patino in those locker rooms,
like that halftime speech I about ran through a brick wall.
I'm like, this guy, he's just coaching the coach He's
coaches pros. Bill Chick's gonna be great because he's gonna
hold his guys. Hey, if you're gonna get paid, you're

(01:57:04):
also I'm not coaching hard. If you don't like it,
you can leave. So I think it's really refreshing to
see coaches like Patino and hopefully Belichick, hopefully coach Martin
and really actually Travis. He coaches this guy hard, ye
you know, but they love him. But he holds him
the standard and he's not afraid.

Speaker 4 (01:57:19):
There's a level of respect there absolutely, and not the
fear of well, if I coaches got too hardy's gonna leave.
You know, one guy's on your roster that are going
to leave if things get hard. Anyway, you mentioned Chuck
Martin just now in the long line of coaches now
that have been at Miami of Ohio, and we talk
often about the cradle of coaches, and I think a
lot of us were teased a little bit when the

(01:57:41):
trailer dropped of the documentary that are coming out. Whether
you're a Miami fan or not, the names and the
people that appeared just on the trailer I think have
perked a lot of people up and wondering what's next.
From the documentary. I know you guys have both met
with Sean Payton as well. Do we know anything else
from a documentary standpoint.

Speaker 41 (01:58:00):
Yeah, So they're it's gonna take a little bit of time,
a little runway. They're gonna launch in twenty twenty six.
But uh, yeah, they did Sean Payton, which was fantastic.
He got inducted to the Cradle Coaches. Hearing him, I
didn't realize how funny that guy is, like he he is.
I mean, I didn't stop laughing for like four hours.
But anyway, they went out to LA they got with

(01:58:21):
our guys out there. They're going to Miami, Florida with
Frank Smith, offensive coordinator, Special teams coach Craig Ackerman. They're
gonna probably give it the Parsigan family. So I'm actually
helping coordinate some of that here. It's being produced out
of Cincinnati. Uh, it's gonna be huge, It's gonna be
really good.

Speaker 8 (01:58:36):
Here.

Speaker 41 (01:58:37):
Coach Peyton talk about the stories back and you know,
he's making like three thousand dollars and you know all that,
but uh, realblable.

Speaker 7 (01:58:47):
Yeah, but he uh, he was great. He got inducted.
They're all there.

Speaker 41 (01:58:51):
Uh last Friday, you know, taping the whole ceremony. It
was really really special to see him coming to the cradle.

Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
How have how has your guys growth since the first
time that we spoke. Obviously you're getting into this game,
but also learning as you go. What have you guys
been doing to increase your knowledge and awareness from the
nil standpoint into where it is now?

Speaker 41 (01:59:12):
Yeah, I mean, I think, if anything, our success we've had,
as Matt said, I mean it's like twenty four to seven.
I actually just got back from Chicago. We've landed a
few big deals. So we've added two potentially three into
our recruiting department as well, so we're able to fund
that fully. So we now have a general manager who's great,
Cody Keller.

Speaker 7 (01:59:31):
He's fantastic.

Speaker 41 (01:59:32):
We hired a recruiter from Memphis and one from Cincinnati,
and we're looking for a fourth potentially. But we've really
built up the recruiting and then we've really built up
the funding. Everyone's like, you know, we're still a long
way to go. You know, I went to Pittsburgh, We've
talked to TCU, I've talked to Rhode Island. I have
a call with Northwestern. So what I'm trying to do
also Tony Is and Matt Is to really understand the

(01:59:57):
landscape and also like what our best practic Since we
started so late in the game, we don't have to
reinvent the wheel. But I'm kind of taking little nuggets
from each group and trying to figure out, you know,
how we can you know, raise more money. So but
we're definitely getting some dollars coming in, but like anything,
we need more, it becomes almost a copycat.

Speaker 6 (02:00:16):
We talked about copycat League with coaches all the time,
and there are some coaches out there that now, this
is the way we're going to do it. We're not
doing what others are doing, but to be successful. The
idea of chipping a little bit off of different schools
that have built this and done it the right way
to to to not copy fully, but but to kind
of cradle what you guys want to do in your
own unique way and take from from so many different universities.

Speaker 21 (02:00:40):
Yeah, I think, you know, when Kyle and I were
talking about this early on, that was sort of our
strategy and it kind of backed into what was our
what's the vision and the you know, the vision for
Red Brick Legacy first and foremost is to be the
best of the MAC and then to be formidable against ucs,
and like, we're never going to have the budget that
premier Division I schools have like a house state, right,

(02:01:02):
so just trying to be realistic. But then to Kyle's point,
doing our due diligence like he's he's been fantastic and
just all the meetings, investing his time and traveling to
you know, really just extend our network and really understand
what other schools are doing. I mean, I was talking
to University of Michigan the other day, and you know,
it's it seems like recently because of the bill that's

(02:01:24):
going on between the House and the NCAA, everyone's kind
of rethinking what the playbook looks like. Because now schools
have the ability to DIVERT twenty point five million, it's
capped at that to nil initiatives, and so what other
schools are doing now is like we're studying that as
much as we can. Like Clemson, for example, is putting

(02:01:46):
an athletic surcharge into their tuition for all students. And
I think what's interesting is that, you know, whether fans
like it or not, the nil initiatives like that money
is going to be passed down to the fan through
some sort of mechanism, right, and it could be through
the general population too.

Speaker 7 (02:02:02):
It just kind of depends. But you know, Kyle and
I have certainly learned a lot.

Speaker 21 (02:02:06):
We're really excited about the beer partnership that we're doing
with Since a Beverage Company, which I can talk a
little bit about that, but that was really sort of talk.

Speaker 4 (02:02:15):
About that because I'm curious one of UC's biggest assets
is Since he Light and the partnership that they have
with Ryan Geist, and you see it everywhere, and I
know you guys have talked to folks from Ryan Geist.
I know you've talked to our guy, Chad Brendle's in there.
You guys have talked with Chad. But again, that that
type of mold and that type of understanding of what

(02:02:36):
was done and trying to recreate something like that that
you guys have successfully done.

Speaker 21 (02:02:40):
Yeah, you certainly took it out of UC's playbook, absolutely,
and what Since he Rains is doing. And so we
met with I would say majority of the breweries since
Anti Beverage Company. We felt like they were the best
partner for us Elliott Coulor and his team. They understood
what our vision was and they were super support And

(02:03:00):
what's really cool about the deal that we have with
them is, I don't know if you know much about
since Saint Beverage Company, but they the brands that most
people know are Little King's More Line and Hohotapole, But
then the company itself has purchased all the rights to
all these vintage brands that they keep on the shelves,
historical brands, right, And so what we determined was that

(02:03:21):
we were going to help them relaunch or resurrect a
vintage brand in Cincinnati that hasn't been around for decades,
you know, and it's it's called Red Top Beer. So
if you're a really good beer, big beer enthusiast, you know,
definitely search around and look up Red Top Beer. But
what our team is going to do is rebrand it,
but utilize you know, the same you know, brewing strategy

(02:03:41):
and things of that nature to produce something that's unique
for our collective for Miami. And our plan that's a
little bit different than what Since the Light is doing
in terms of distribution, is we're going to try to
move throughout the tri state area, make it a Midwest
a Midwest brand, and have it be you know, generally

(02:04:02):
appealing to you know, a wide range of audiences, not
just specifically Miami, you know, athletic supporters. So that's we're
taking the brand in that direction. And like I said,
cannot be more excited about the partnership with since any
beverage company there.

Speaker 6 (02:04:17):
That's a that's a huge start and a huge step
in that direction. Kyle uh We we've talked a little
bit about cam Ward. You went and talked with with
Pittsburgh and other schools. Is there anything in this process
that still even understanding what this world is? Is there anything
that still surprises you out there with with where anil
is going to where it's at.

Speaker 7 (02:04:37):
Let's play the guests the NIL game real quick.

Speaker 41 (02:04:41):
This price from I know, ninety nine point nine percent
cam Ward's dollar amount.

Speaker 7 (02:04:47):
Let's let's go ahead.

Speaker 41 (02:04:48):
We're gonna We're gonna do a little I think that
the good feedback about these segments in the past is
that we bring inside information about NIL to the table.
So we're gonna make Tony Pike guess how much do
you think cam Ward made at Miami, Florida last year?
Who's going to be You'll give you time to think,
going to be probably number one, if not number two or.

Speaker 7 (02:05:06):
Three, top top three pick.

Speaker 4 (02:05:08):
So I would think that would sit three three and
a half million dollars pretty close.

Speaker 41 (02:05:12):
I actually think they got a sweetheart deal two point
three million wow, which knowingly the market Miami Florida, and
there was one donor that gave him wrote one check
and then I found out the interesting thing about Miami Florida,
don't know how much they're going to divert in total funds.
But you know, Jim Larrenegas step down. There was one
guy for basketball, one guy for football, while the basketball
guy did not re up.

Speaker 7 (02:05:33):
That's when you saw mass exodus.

Speaker 41 (02:05:35):
I think that's where Jim said, hey, I'm too reliant
on these donor fatigue. Donor gets tired. But one guy
wrote a two point three million dollar check to cam Ward.
Now that was just straight dollars. Now on top of that,
what else could he get. I've met with a couple
acc schools. The the not going to give complete specifics
on deals because I got to kind of keep some

(02:05:56):
of these relationships. So that's my one for this episode.
But an average an average quarterback. This is kind of crazy.
Average quarterback in the ACC is above a million man
and and and there's some that are around two that
are average, and there's some at one. So that's the
price tag for a ACC quarterback.

Speaker 4 (02:06:17):
Yeah, I mean I'm in my mind, I'm thinking of
what Underwood just the report of what he got for
to go to Michigan ten point five Carson back now
going to Miami in Florida. It's just it's insane to
think what these dollar amounts have come to from from
a a recruiting standpoint. You know, It's it's one thing.
Are you guys almost having to work now hand in

(02:06:38):
hand with the coaches because I imagine a recruiting trip saying,
here's why you should come to Miami. This is about
the school, These are about the academics, this is about
the athletics, and then almost tagging in, oh, here's our
money guy, here's our nil guy, this is what we
can offer you. Is that now how these recruiting trips
essentially play out?

Speaker 41 (02:06:55):
Yeah, I mean dollars And we were just talking. I
was just with coach Martin, coach deal. Someone came up
to me and I'll get back to football here, But
so Matt was here too. At the game the other
night at Ken's state game at for basketball, and someone
came up to us and said, hey, now that we
are going to get a new arena, we should be
in the sweet sixteen, right And I said, do you
know what that means that we need to raise on

(02:07:17):
the court.

Speaker 7 (02:07:17):
I said, it's great.

Speaker 41 (02:07:18):
You know, our our arena is probably in the bottom
ten percent of three hundred plus schools. Now we're going
to be in the top one fifty. But arena is
just one element. Number one is still players, and players
want to be paid. Coach is really important. I think
we got great coaches, especially with coach.

Speaker 4 (02:07:33):
Love the coach. They can love the arena. They want
to know how much they're gonna get.

Speaker 41 (02:07:36):
Paid, you know, yeah, how much they're going to get paid.
So I think part of the conversation, I wouldn't say
it's at Miami, it's it's a hard driver, but I
would say there there is the coaching relationships, the opportunity
to actually come to Miami, do really well and potentially
go and get a big bag, you know, out in
this as Again, as the young guys say I'll get

(02:07:57):
that bag, sure they can go, we get guys, go
get some last year Oh big time. I think that's
a very attractive thing. Hopefully they stay, but they know
if they do well, they're gonna have opportunities, you know,
fiscally to maybe change their life.

Speaker 4 (02:08:10):
So I think that the other interesting dynamic here before
we wrap it is also from a coach's standpoint. It
does put pressure because as a coach, now you have
a pool of understanding what you're gonna do. You give
one player the majority of that pool, and if you do,
you better be one hundred percent sure that that player
is going to pan out or do you maybe pass
on a player and say, okay, well we can get

(02:08:31):
these five guys for maybe that same price. So in
this same transaction, it does put more pressure on the
coaches when the money is raised to make sure they're
allocating those funds the right way.

Speaker 21 (02:08:42):
Yeah, like just talking about That's why I've been following
everything North Carolina is doing in Belichick, which I'm obsessed
with him anyway, But in terms of building a roster
within the current dynamic of nil and operating within a budget,
college coach has never had to do that before, right,
and Belichick was.

Speaker 7 (02:08:58):
One of the best.

Speaker 21 (02:08:59):
I mean he his major was economics IF and he
was one of the best at salary cat management and
understanding player value and how to build a roster around
those parameters. And I think nowadays coaches really have to
understand the economics of building a roster and how you mean,
how much you need to invest in each position and
to your point, you can't allocate one hundred percent of

(02:09:19):
the funds to one player, even eighty five percent. You
need to be really smart and intentional with it. And
I think the coaches that understand that early are certainly
going to stand above the rest.

Speaker 6 (02:09:31):
Always appreciate you guys coming in, Always appreciate the knowledge.
Also appreciate now the connection between Redding and Miami. You
know they didn't they didn't offer me back in the day.
But Ben Nash, my guy Ben Nash from Reading is
playing at Miami of Ohio. So they've re established finally
a Redding Miami connection after breaking my heart so many
years ago.

Speaker 4 (02:09:50):
And those are yours. You know, I tried, It's crazy,
I said earlier. I was a guest of Miami in
a Battle of the Victory bell at Jugre Statim when
Roethlisberger was the starter against the Bearcats. Wow, they must
have seen me in person with that guy. He's about
eighty decker guys a better Ye were good.

Speaker 21 (02:10:10):
I literally had a meeting with I was called up
to Terry Heppner's office something else which I'm not going
to talk about, but I literally talked to Terry Heppner
about it before I And.

Speaker 7 (02:10:20):
Here's a question, would you have committed to Miami if
they offered at that point?

Speaker 6 (02:10:23):
It would have been my only offer? So yeah, I
mean I didn't. I didn't get offered from.

Speaker 21 (02:10:27):
UC, and with the fact that I was going to
be there, well, yeah, that.

Speaker 7 (02:10:30):
Was a big point.

Speaker 4 (02:10:31):
But you probably brought that up after a negative meeting
with Terry Heppner. He was probably criticizing you and then
you're like, oh, by the way, get my guy Tony,
and Terry at the time was probably like, no, I'm
not going to do that.

Speaker 6 (02:10:40):
But yeah, honestly I had. I had an offer to
play basketball at Finley and football. Toledo came in very late,
and then UC was so late that they had to
gracihot me because their class was already full. So UC
was not even on the radar yet. So it would
have probably been an option.

Speaker 41 (02:10:54):
Man, he could have been repping Red Brick Legacy, the
beviled m unbelievable.

Speaker 7 (02:10:58):
It worked out for what.

Speaker 6 (02:11:00):
What's the easiest way to uh, to follow along everything
you guys got going on with Red Brick Legacy.

Speaker 21 (02:11:05):
Social media, Instagram, x We're gonna try to launch linked
in here as well, but primarily run on Instagram and
x so we announced mank all of announcements through there.

Speaker 7 (02:11:14):
Awesome.

Speaker 4 (02:11:15):
Appreciate you guys as always, love and honor, love an
honor man.

Speaker 7 (02:11:18):
Travis Steele. Let's go get to big one please?

Speaker 8 (02:11:21):
Oh you?

Speaker 7 (02:11:21):
Oh you tomorrow?

Speaker 22 (02:11:22):
Oh you?

Speaker 7 (02:11:23):
Yeah? Oh you don't get me started? Yeah, lucky, We're
out of time.

Speaker 4 (02:11:26):
Since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Thanks to Penn Station, Moegar, players are allowed to have
bad games.

Speaker 3 (02:11:33):
He's a man with a one track mind.

Speaker 7 (02:11:35):
Good players are allowed to have bad games.

Speaker 3 (02:11:37):
Where should I say? Uh, sports track mind. It happens
Moegar today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
Well you're a weekend warrixt continues on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 7 (02:11:52):
Come on, let's go.

Speaker 18 (02:11:53):
Since three sixty quick.

Speaker 7 (02:11:54):
Hits on ESPN fifteen is looking for Mo.

Speaker 6 (02:11:57):
Welcome back most not here? He is h He's out
in Arizona getting ready for the Reds. Should we call
him today? You should like during the game to see,
like what's going on?

Speaker 7 (02:12:07):
Live? Live report? Yeah, live report.

Speaker 4 (02:12:09):
He would chuckle at his phone and put it back
in his pockets. Spencer Steer been throwing it all No, yeah,
no he hasn't.

Speaker 16 (02:12:17):
I know.

Speaker 15 (02:12:17):
It's how did these guys keep going in Like the
end of the season, they have an injury and he
didn't have surgery, and they show up to spring training
with the same injury.

Speaker 4 (02:12:26):
I don't get it. What is happening, Tony. I am
so baffled by all of it. I'll let you sort
it out with Mo if you want. Outside of that,
it's a Friday, Yes, the Moeger Show with Chad Brenda.
What do you have in store today? Well, first off,
you picked Houston. Did I'm hoping to motivate me too.
I'm hoping listen, one of them want to see it
way better than not here?

Speaker 6 (02:12:46):
Correct? And my dad is famous for being the kiss
of death. Anytime he picks the team go opposite. And
what I'm hoping to do is speaking into existence so
much that the basketball gods watching down say, nope, let's
spite Tony and you see win because he picked Houston.

Speaker 7 (02:13:01):
I think the basketball gods, no, you're full of crap.

Speaker 8 (02:13:07):
Ton.

Speaker 15 (02:13:07):
There's not a whole lot to talk about today, Like
you know, it's one of those days in sports talk
radio where we'll talk about UC Houston, We'll talk about
X and huge Crayton. It's a huge college basketball it's
a huge college basketball weekend. There's not a whole lot.
One of the things I want to know, what do
we think needs to be the production? Like what does
the end of the season look like for Hunter Green

(02:13:29):
and Ellie if this team is going to be successful.

Speaker 4 (02:13:33):
Are only ranked starting pitchers? Yesterday Hunter Green was not
in the top ten. He was also not a top
ten honorable mention. He's got to be inside of that.

Speaker 15 (02:13:42):
He has to be Like I mean, you know, wins
are hard to quantify, sure, but like I think he's
got to be like at three year below in e
er and he's got to be better at getting deeper
into games. He can't be the guy that has eighty
nine pitches at the end of the fourth inning anymore.

Speaker 7 (02:14:01):
Like we got to get past that.

Speaker 15 (02:14:03):
And and Ellie, what does building is it? Is it
cutting down the strikeouts? Is it, you know, getting on
base a little bit more, which I think goes part
and parcel with cutting down the strikeouts? Is it does
he have to they don't have a thirty home run guy?
Does Ellie need to be that thirty home run guy

(02:14:23):
that that gives this offense a little bit of pop?
So you've got the potential to have two stars. A
star on the mound and your starting rotation and a
star at shortstop. It's time for these guys to to
to take that next step. I'm curious what people think
that looks like Bengals wise, what is the limit on

(02:14:47):
making Joe happy? Because that you have to recall at
what cost is what? At what point do you say, Joe,
we've done everybody? They're like, you know, and and do
they what do they say, Look, man, we can't have
four players make up half of our Yeah, sorry, cap.

Speaker 6 (02:15:06):
I'm interested to also know in the draft process how
much Joe now gets the ability to be involved. If
it's a tight end or a wide receiver. You would
hope that that he has to say and not easier
it's a lot easier to appiece him with a draft
pick than it used to to maybe pay three guys.

Speaker 15 (02:15:22):
Yeah, and I feel like, like, yes, he has earned
his say, he has earned his his ability to speak
up and give his opinion on you know, what this
roster should look like, what this this team should look like.
But is there a point where you're like, look, man,
like we have done all that we can possibly do.

(02:15:45):
You're gonna have to give us a little grace here.

Speaker 8 (02:15:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (02:15:48):
So I'm curious about that because that continues to stick
out of my mind. You see Houston, how.

Speaker 4 (02:15:54):
Much will you talk about your decision to send your
guy Keith and Nickoson to the Combine.

Speaker 7 (02:15:57):
And not Houston. So that was his his deal. Cory
Kner was out today. Corey Kiner spoke today.

Speaker 15 (02:16:03):
He's gonna talk to He's gonna talk to the line
D line guys tomorrow, uh Luke Candra and John Williams,
two offensive linemens.

Speaker 4 (02:16:10):
So that was his He's networking. What do you what
do you view? It's Corey Kinder, a late draft pick.

Speaker 15 (02:16:19):
He's probably a free agent. But if you get invited
to the combine, like, yeah, you got a chance, I'm
gonna be interested to see what he runs, because that's
gonna if he can put up a solid number, Like
he's not a burner, but if he can, if he
can throw up a four to five, Yeah, I think
that's you think that's right for him? Like, yeah, I
mean I think that's the one question is but what

(02:16:41):
do you think it needs to be? I think under
a four to six in that range.

Speaker 4 (02:16:45):
I saw he was talking about past protections and that's
that's where a guy can his way into a late
round draft pick. He said, there's a lot of similarities
to what they were teaching with what they did at
you see the last couple of years. So if he's
able to you know, ta some heads with pass protection,
that could get him a late pick.

Speaker 15 (02:17:02):
Pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield,
which he did a lot more of this year.

Speaker 7 (02:17:06):
Yeah, he made sure he.

Speaker 15 (02:17:08):
Was threeom only sixteen passes to him, but he caught
all sixteen.

Speaker 4 (02:17:11):
He was quick to quit that out today. One hundred percent. Yeah,
that's good in any sport. Yeah, that's like Marty Gilliard
on the bubble screen. How many times does he score
a touchdown? One hundred percent? Yep, the same screen never
works anymore for anyone, for anyone ever, I've never seen
anything like it. Paris Campbell took one of the house
against UNLV, but that was about it.

Speaker 7 (02:17:30):
Who Paris Campbell? Never heard of him? He's still in
the league.

Speaker 4 (02:17:33):
Speaking of percentages, chat, I want to ask you our
Revive Fitness Systems dot com pole question presented by Revived
Hitting Systems of coach PJ.

Speaker 7 (02:17:39):
Street.

Speaker 4 (02:17:40):
Which California athlete would you rather be Lebron James, Steph Curry,
show Hey Otani or other? Probably show Hey, show Hay
is our winner today. At fifty six point seven percent
of responded say show Hey, Steph, second at twenty two
Lebron third at eight uh, and then two percent say other.

(02:18:03):
I did see a tweet that I agree with Lebron.
James is a billionaire and about to retire, so I
kind of want to be him.

Speaker 15 (02:18:08):
But the only reason the reason I would say show
he is he's going to be a billionaire. Yeah, and
he's got more earning potential. He's just Lebron. The tipity,
just the tipity, the people taking Steph over Lebron, that
those are just haters.

Speaker 6 (02:18:25):
Well, they're creatures of the moment because Steph had fifty
six last night.

Speaker 4 (02:18:28):
But but there hat Steph's just a much more likable guy. Yeah,
but Lebron is the single best at one thing ever, Austin,
you don't get to like. You don't get to talk
about likable guys. I'm not a likable guy, Like I
understand why. I don't understand why you're Why you're saying that.

Speaker 15 (02:18:47):
Well, because I like I being likable doesn't really matter
to either of us.

Speaker 4 (02:18:51):
It does when it you just said, guys are being
haters so obviously in the way that you vote.

Speaker 7 (02:18:57):
They hate Lebron. Yeah, because he's not likable but likable.

Speaker 15 (02:19:01):
You are a hater because you're not likable, but he
has a billion dollars.

Speaker 7 (02:19:04):
Okay, that's what I just said. I would like that part.

Speaker 4 (02:19:07):
I would choose Steph for show Hey over Lebron because
I am a Lebron hater, because I don't find him likable.

Speaker 7 (02:19:12):
It plays a role.

Speaker 15 (02:19:13):
You would leave hundreds of millions of dollars on the table?

Speaker 7 (02:19:17):
Do I need that much more? If I'm Steph?

Speaker 4 (02:19:19):
For example, like, yeah, show Hey the money, You're gonna
be the star of baseball. But also like Steph is
doing fine and He's the single greatest at one thing ever.

Speaker 15 (02:19:30):
Lebron might be the single greatest that one thing ever
called playing basketball.

Speaker 7 (02:19:35):
That's it, I said, might as we both are rocking
Jordan gear.

Speaker 4 (02:19:41):
Six hat is the U the over runner for the
Bearcats football sounds about right. I think seven is where
over seven is where I lean when I looked at
the schedule. But it's so it's so incredibly hard to
tell in this conference because every game is generally close
and comes down to who finishes game in Cincinnati hasn't
been good at it.

Speaker 6 (02:20:01):
What'd you make last night of our guy Lance McAllister?
He ate dinner in a parking garage.

Speaker 15 (02:20:05):
I saw that he had a salad in a in
a in a tupperware.

Speaker 4 (02:20:10):
And then what do you make of justin Timberlake after
opening the doors for the second time, canceling a concert?

Speaker 7 (02:20:15):
What are we doing?

Speaker 8 (02:20:16):
It's weak?

Speaker 7 (02:20:16):
It's weak.

Speaker 4 (02:20:17):
You had to know that morning or early afternoon you
weren't going to perform like people are. Lance drove for
two hours.

Speaker 6 (02:20:23):
Yeah, people get hotels, people drive, and to just give
him back, well, here's the concert money. Okay, what about
the gas? What about the food? What about the hotel?

Speaker 8 (02:20:30):
Right?

Speaker 7 (02:20:31):
I think it's weak on Timber Week, it's weak on
on on JT.

Speaker 15 (02:20:34):
I felt bad for especially second, like it second time
one time? Okay, and now you're going out of town.
What you're getting testing done? What's happenings?

Speaker 4 (02:20:43):
I needed my I needed to print out my insurance
card today, Okay, so I printed it out.

Speaker 7 (02:20:47):
You got big plans this weekend or no? Doctor's a point?
Are you going streaking? If the Bearcuts beat Houston? Listen,
I'm gonna need that.

Speaker 6 (02:20:54):
If the Bearcats beat Houston, you coming to the hood, Grail,
I'm gonna be checking in.

Speaker 7 (02:20:58):
No, I'm not. Why not?

Speaker 4 (02:20:59):
I'm watching it elsewhere. We'd love to see you. I'm
watching it elsewhere. Unbelievable, I know, unbelievable. Maybe one time,
maybe we'll watch the first round of the tournament there
when you see he's playing on the Thursday.

Speaker 7 (02:21:11):
What see?

Speaker 4 (02:21:12):
I can't, Austin, I can't take this negative, this negative.

Speaker 7 (02:21:18):
You just picked against us as a kiss of death.
What about? What about shootout to in Vegas at the Crown.
I'm also in on that. You going would you go?

Speaker 6 (02:21:26):
I'd go to that if my insurance work comes to
What do you think of the Muskies chances tomorrow good.
I mean I picked against them too, but no one's
calling me out on that.

Speaker 7 (02:21:38):
I called you out on that.

Speaker 15 (02:21:42):
Do you just say, we're gonna let call Brinner get
his They can't guard him, No, they can't guard him,
move on, just let him get hit. The problem is
he might give forty. Yeah, but hopefully the rest of
the team just shut down everybody else and try to
try to, you know, maintain I think they can.

Speaker 7 (02:22:00):
I think it's definitely within reason.

Speaker 15 (02:22:01):
What Creighton's projected as, like an eight or nine seed,
Like you're not talking about.

Speaker 7 (02:22:06):
Correct going to have to win the powerhouse.

Speaker 15 (02:22:09):
Like I listen, If Cincinnati wins, it would be the
second biggest win in college basketball all season. Yeah, you
know what, the other one Florida winning at Auburn that
Cincinnati in the country at Houston would be the number
two win in the country. Beating Creighton is reasonable. For Xavier,

(02:22:31):
it'll be a pick him close to it. Yeah, it'll
be right.

Speaker 4 (02:22:33):
If you see wins tomorrow. What's the point total? They're
not going to score a lot.

Speaker 15 (02:22:38):
Houston's the slowest team in the like the third slowest
team in all of college basketball. It's gonna have to
be at what sixty sixty, one sixty or something.

Speaker 7 (02:22:49):
You take it, Tony.

Speaker 15 (02:22:50):
They've lost four times, all four times in OVERTI the way,
all four times in overtime.

Speaker 6 (02:22:55):
Draft Kings has it. Fifteen and a half is the
official number for tomorrow. Give me the Bearcats, give me
the bear Cat change it up. I'll take the points.

Speaker 7 (02:23:04):
This is it. We're done.
