this time of the year. The Reds shut out last
night through seven innings, despite twenty four of the day before.

They lose six to three to Max Meyer and the
Miami Marlins. And I say Max Meyer first, because he
was absolutely fantastic. He struck out fourteen Reds on the night.
We'll have some Terry Francone audio will recap the game,
we'll look ahead to what's next, and Lance McAllister tweeted out,
are a little bit of a deep dive into some
of the contracts that the Reds have given out that

they've missed on, and you wonder if some of those
misses have caused this organization to maybe not want to
spend and attack the way that folks think that maybe

getting this from the University of Cincinnati. This is just
being released that the athletic department at the University of
Cincinnati is mourning the loss today of freshman football student

athlete Jeremiah Kelly, who passed away unexpectedly at his residence
early Tuesday morning. Scott sadderfield his quote, the Bearcat football
family is heartbroken by the sudden loss of this outstanding
young man. In the short time Jeremiah spent with our team,
He's made a real impact both on the field in
the locker room. Prayers are with the Kelly family and

those who had the pleasure of knowing Jeremiah. Jeremiah, a
native of Avon, Ohio, graduated from Avon High School, where
he helped the Eagles to a sixteen to zero record
and the school's first state championship in twenty twenty four,
earning first team All Conference and All District honors. Named
an S. W. C Lynman of the Year, one of
Ohio's top twenty five prospects, he was an early enrollee

doing and getting ready for the NFL and all the

the pregame concert. Playoff action in the world of sports,

Last night, Hockey Action saw the greatest goalscorer of all time,
Alex Ovechkin, lead the Washington Capitals to an overtime winner.
Last night as the Capitals take game one, three to two.
Winnipeg beat Saint Louis, Dallas beat Colorado, LA beat Edmonton Edmonton,
And in the NBA couple things to mention. One the

Detroit Pistons, and Moe's kind of talked about this in
the times We've talked. In fact, the Detroit Pistons are
a lot better than maybe people have realized. They go
into New York Madison Square Garden, they win it last
night one hundred to ninety four. They even up the
series and in the Western Conference first Round. I think
this is the best series to date. The Clippers. Last

night they beat the Denver Nuggets one oh five, one
oh two. The Joker is one of the most phenomenal
players in all of basketball. I watched this game from
start to finish last night. The Joker at a triple
double twenty six, twelve and ten. But a lot of
people I don't even think they realize Kawhi Leonard is healthy.

And when Kawhi Leonard is healthy, he's a top five
player in the NBA last night, fifteen of nineteen from
the field, thirty nine points, five assists, two steals, a block,
a couple rebounds, leading the Los Angeles Clippers to a
row to win in Game one against the Denver nug
or a Game two against the Denver Nuggets, making that
series one to one. But somehow, some way, Austin, that

wasn't the biggest news from the NBA. Did you see?
Nico Harrison finally allowed reporters to ask questions and film
things I did. His answer to one of the questions
about Luca was that he quote didn't know the fans
level of love for Luca. How can you miss that?

If you knew Luca was important to them, but not
to this level?

Correct? He was asked point blank, why shouldn't you be fired?
To the answer he gave of you know, guys got hurt,
give it till next year. I just don't understand, with
how much public outrages out there, how it ever gets
better for Nico Right?

Yeah, No, it's it's not going to his legacy. Is
the worst trading in NBA history. Yeah, and unless they
turn around and win like three titles nobody's going to care,
you know. It's it's just kind of embarrassing for the MAVs.
It's embarrassing for him. He fired somebody who was I
think back here in Ohio visiting his mom who was
about to die, fired him over a video call and

basically said he was too negative. AKA, he's not a
yes man. Right, It's just, you know, the character of
Nico Harrison is coming out over and over and over again,
and I just honestly, I mean, I know nobody here cares,
but I feel bad for Dallas Maverick Fiyes.

Yeah, I mean, you put it. I think when the
trade happened, it would be the Bengals essentially moving on
right now from from Joe Burrow, just up and up
and moving on from Yeah, and just citing outlandish reasons why.
It just it's remarkable still that that this is still going.
But the longer the Lakers have success and continue to play,

the more people are going to talk about The Lakers
are in action tonight. From an NBA standpoint, they are
one of three games Bucks, Pacers, Grizzlies, Thunder, Timberwolves, Lakers,
all happening tonight in the National Basketball Association the Browns
and the Giants. This is the latest draft buzz going
on right now. The Browns with the number two overall

pick and the Giants with the number three overall pick
are at least listening at least listening to phone calls
as it pertains to those picks individually, not saying that
they're gonna take them or make a trade with them,
but at least they will pick up the phone and
listen if you call and are interested in the number

two or the number three draft pick. Other NFL news,
Cam Jurgens got a hefty, hefty extension from the Philadelphia
Eagles four years, sixty eight million. He becomes austin, the
fourth Philadelphia Eagle offensive lineman in the last calendar year

(10:03):
to receive a contract extension. The organization just they have
figured out a way to do it. They extend their
best players, they've nailed in the draft, and they've been
aggressive at times from a trade and free agency standpoint,
and it feels like everything they do, everything they touch,
turns to gold.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Right now. Most of those dudes are home grown. They
also have the best offensive line coach in the league
in Jeff Stotland, whose assistant coach I think just got
his own job as an offensive line coach across the
league as well. So yeah, much of team building has
been perfected by the reigning Super Bowl champions.

We also earlier today received a confirmation that Hamilton County
and the Bengals have struck a preliminary deal on the
stadium renovations. Now, I know you were talking about this
leading up to the show, Paul Danner Junior tweeted out
aboun hour ago. It doesn't mean anything is finished. There

is work still to be done, but it's good news
on the stadium front. And the words in this release
that stand out I think more than anyone quote worked together,
which if you follow along with this and what Paul
Daner Junior tweeted out, that is substantial considering where this
started just a short time ago.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Yeah, the big thing with this is that, you know,
there's been these renovation plans for a while, and it
was originally upwards of a billion dollars and they've cut
a lot of that out, stuff that wasn't necessary, stuff
that the Bengals didn't want, stuff that Hamilton County didn't want,
and they got it down to roughly eight hundred and
thirty million dollars. They need to come to an agreement

(11:40):
and finalize agreement by the end of June, or else
the Bengals would likely exercise a two year extension to
the lease. Nobody wants that to happen. That would not
be a good thing. So the fact that they've come
to this agreement of like, Okay, here's what you guys
are going to pay for, here's what the NFL is
going to pay, here's what Hamilton County is going to

(12:02):
pay for. Now we've got to figure out where the
rest of the money comes from. So they've taken significant
steps forward into getting this deal done and getting the
renovations done. The next step is, Okay, where does this
money come from? There are there obviously have requested money
from the state budget, and we talked about that a

(12:24):
little bit last week. That's still very much a work
in progress, and they're trying to get the Ohio Senate
or the Ohio House forgive me if I'm a little
bit fuzzy on the details, but trying to get them
to increase the tax on sports wagering in the state
of Ohio. I think it's at fifteen percent right now.

(12:45):
They want to get it up to twenty percent or
something along those lines. Basically, what they are trying to do.
Hamilton County went to the governor with this. The governor
has kind of increased it, taken it to the next level.
What they're trying to do is create a fund based
off sports wagering taxes that everybody in the state of
Ohio can dip into if they need help with stadium stuff.

(13:08):
The NFL has this already. The NFL has their own
fund that is meant only to help teams that need
money for stadiums. So the NFL is going to be
giving sixty million dollars to the Bengals in Hamilton County
for these renovations. The Bengals are going to be giving
sixty million dollars to these renovations, and Hamilton County is

(13:30):
going to be giving sixty million dollars to these renovations.
So that's one hundred and eighty and they're trying to
figure out where exactly the rest of it is going
to come from. So they're still working on that and
hoping that they can get a little bit of help
from the state and then dip into that fund as
well to figure it out. But either way, today is
very much a positive sign, a step in the right

(13:52):
direction between the Bengals in Hamilton County coming to an
agreement on an extension of the lease that hopefully will
be finalized by ju thirtieth.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
The vote to finalize the agreement, according to Ben Baby,
is pushed to next Tuesday, so obviously something to watch.
But I think, as you alluded to, and as we've
seen throughout social media to this point, the fact that
they've reached this together and that they've put the work
in together is a huge step from the last official

(14:24):
word we got from these two sides. So things seem
to be trending obviously in the right direction. Still think
work that needs to be done.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
I think a big reason why it's gotten to this
point is that there is a belief that they can
get and dip into some of that money. Part of
it is you got to be fair, and they just
gave six hundred million to Cleveland. The other part of
it is it makes too much sense to tax the
sports wagering. I mean, in the state of New York
sports betting, those companies are taxed at fifty percent. Ohio,

it's well under twenty and so they're trying to reach
up to that level, get a bunch of that money
from an out of state company that doesn't even operate
in the state, and to be able to tax that
use that as a fund. FC Cincinnati would be able
to dip into it, the Columbus Crew, you know, the Reds,
everybody would be able to dip into that fund. So
it makes a lot of sense. Let's just hope it

actually happens, you know what I mean.

come together a little. Bit Max, meyer who last night
in six, innings gave up five, hits did not walk

the pitching, performances but you can tell from watching the
game as well last Night austin THAT i don't think
there are many major league clubs offensively that would have
succeeded Against Max meyer last night with the stuff that
he had.

Going incredibly pitch efficient and a nasty. Slider we talked
about the stat yesterday that players and across baseball are
hitting under one hundred against his slider this, season and
you could tell why last. Night he was living at
the bottom of the. Zone he was starting those pitches,
low and they were falling out of the. Zone they
were fooling. Batters, NOW i think if there's one criticism

of The red's approach to the plate last, NIGHT i
felt like they could have been a little bit more.
AGGRESSIVE i, mean he had like ten strikeouts on fifty
pitches at one, point so they were being. Aggressive he
was also just uper, aggressive like won two, pitchouts three pitch,
Strikeouts like he was basically putting it up there like,

here see if you can hit, it and they. Couldn't
and you, KNOW i said to you before the, SHOW
i haven't really seen a slider like, that a slider
that looks more like a splitter in the way that
it drops. Vertically and he was just doing such a
good job with that pitch and setting The reds. Up
it felt LIKE i got to the point where like
they're like a time and a half through the, lineup
And i'm, LIKE i don't know if they have much,

tonight they're gonna have to start being a little bit more.
Aggressive and it felt like every single time they stepped
up to the plate they were behind in the. Count
and that's a credit To Max, meyer who was JUST i,
mean that was seriously one of the best pitching Performances
i've ever. Seen red swung forty eight times and missed
twenty four of. Them it's not like The reds are
the worst offensive team in. Baseball they. Aren't they have good.

Players we know they just scored twenty four the other.
Day they couldn't figure him, out and they're not. Alone
other teams across baseball have struggled to figure him out
to this.

Point, YEAH i think on that slider in, PARTICULAR i
saw the stat last. Night he threw it twenty one,
times sixteen of those times were. Missed the INABILITY i
think at times for this. Team it's one thing if
you're going to be more. Aggressive it's another thing if you're,

i just don't see this ability from this. Offense they

for him to get guys. Out he cannot at the

balls last night were off of. HIM i, mean it's
just The reds don't do that to opposing. Pitchers they.
Don't they. Don't you don't see a ton of eight
to nine ten pitch at bats and so, yes you
tip your, Captain Max. Meyer if we talked about the

other side And Nick, lodolo who got in trouble in
that second inning and only lasted five and two, thirds
gave up three earned, runs struck out just. Four if
there's one thing to be concerned about through the first
couple starts of The lodolo, Season, austin would it be
the low number of strikeouts because he does lack the
putaway pitch right, now and it's one thing guys are

putting it in, play but continuing to file the ball.
Off it's eating up the pitch count and not allowing
him to go extremely deep into.

Games uh, YEAH i think the big thing is where's
what's his put away. PITCH i think that's the number
one thing right, now and that he's struggling to get.
THAT i, mean he's gotten a lot of ground, balls
he's been. EFFICIENT i didn't think he was that bad last.

win but they were just kind of useless and everything.

concerned About. Nicolodolo it's just always he never seems to
be in. Rhythm when he is in, rhythm and we've
seen that he's really really good gets the, ball he's throwing,
it he knows what he's, doing he's setting it. Up.

kid and then just fly down To miami and pitch
against The, marlins even though they're The, marlins which by the,
way they're not the Pushover marlins that we've seen in the.

good of a, player and he hasn't been since he
went to The All Star game a couple of years.
Ago he had moments last, year yes he, did but

you're jumping the gun a little. Bit it's still early.

just not good, Offensively they're not great, Offensively they're. Fine,
Offensively they're. NOTHING i, Mean i'm not MAYBE i should,

pleased WITH. Tj Friedel matt McClean strikes out too, much

and Maybe i'm slightly worried about. Him so why is
there is there more concern With candelario Over steer just
because of what you saw last year With. Candelario, yeah,
YEAH i mean this. Happens you get over the age
of thirty and you make a lot of money and
sometimes you fall. Off that happens across baseball And candelario,

now historically he's much better hitter in the month Than.
May but If Terry francona is, like, LISTEN i don't
have time to wait on, you and he's playing, sparingly
then is he ever going to get into a? Rhythm
is he ever going to? Play and in the, meantime
if you do want to play him every, day can
you risk that is he good? Enough are? You are
you good enough around him to wait through the crap

until he becomes good? AGAIN i don't know that they are,
Right SO i Mean candelario to me is kind of
a lost.

numbers are already creeping back up. There he's watching too
