Your phone calls Welcome today and every day. Five one, three, seven, four, nine,

(00:45):
fifteen thirty. Joe Daniman is set to join us at
one o'clock this afternoon. We've got audio if you listen in.
We talked a couple of weeks ago. Tom Brenneman is
on in the mornings now seven hundred WAW. He had
Zach Taylor on with him.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Today.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
We got a couple minutes of Zach Taylor audio that
will get to you today. The Reds have now tied
the longest winning streak in Major League Baseball currently at five.
They beat the Saint Louis Cardinals last night. We'll hear
from Terry Francona after last night's win. We'll talk about
how they went about getting to win, and many other
things as it relates to the Cincinnati Reds. The red

(01:25):
hot Cincinnati Red Legs right now getting ready for Game
two of a four game set at Great American Ballpark
against the Saint Louis Cardinals that takes place obviously later
this evening. Take a look at the position by position
breakdowns now that free agency has happened, now that the
draft has happened. Obviously there are additions that can still

(01:48):
be made to the roster between now and the started
training camp, but you get a pretty good understanding kind
of where things are out from a position by position standpoint.
We'll dive into that today as it relates to the
Cincinnati some smart Chamar Stewart praise by one of the
best to do it in the NFL. We'll get to that.
There's a stadium update Austin. This is big, right is

(02:12):
this that this is the Hamilton County Commissioners vote two
to one to approve a memorandum of Understanding to make
one hundred and eighty four million dollars in improvements to
pay Corps Stadium. This construction scheduled to begin in February.
This is a big thing, right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
This is obviously a sign that they are a lot
closer to an extension on the on the lease and
they were able to vote this MLA or mo OU
or whatever memorandum of understanding through so that they will
work together to ensure that both sides will work on

(02:51):
improvements to pay Corp Stadium. Now the rest of it
becomes about getting funding from the state and ensuring that
that the other costs of this is so this covers
one hundred and eighty four hundred and eighty five million
dollars worth of renovations. There's a lot more money that
also is needed to get to the master plan of renovations,

(03:13):
and they are looking forward to and asking the State
of Ohio for a good chunk of that money as well.
So this is a very good sign. Nobody ever thought
the Bengals were leaving. It was never a realistic possibility,
but they will at least be able to get a
lot closer to a least extension moving forward between the
county and the Bengals. The Bengals did respond to this

(03:35):
vote today by Hamilton County approving this memorandum of understanding
says the Bengals appreciate Hamilton County support in passing today's MoU,
which is a step towards preserving pay Course Stadium. It
also says many good things have happened along the riverfront
over the past twenty five years, and the team is
glad to continue working with Hamilton County to forge a

(03:56):
long term deal that works well for greater to.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Love it Memorandum of understanding, We need a few of
those know what that it is, But sounds important, sounds
like a good thing.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Let's stick with the NFL.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
George Kittle four years, seventy six point four million dollar extension.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
All right, George from the San Francisco forty nine ers.
Take seventy five dollars in California. Yep, that ain't bad.
Enjoy that. Robert Woods, who feels like he's played.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
For eighteen teams, now signed a one year deal with
the Pittsburgh Steelers and Deontay Johno.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Tygh never just blew it. Let's say, what's Robert Woods.
It is Deontay Johnson. You can also go Fairway Robert
Fairway Woods.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Deontay Johnson has signed with the Cleveland Browns as well.
It does lead to an interesting question because you know,
the drafts come and they go, and obviously Cleveland addressed
quarterback multiple times in the draft. The Pittsburgh Steelers address
it with Will Howard late in the draft. There is
still holding out hope of Aaron Rodgers and what that

(05:00):
decision is going to look like. But you know, we
talk about this all the time and the luxury it
is to have Joe Burrow. The Ravens probably feel the
same way with Lamar Jackson. We talked about the AFC
North and we talked about how they handled the draft
and how others view the draft. As far as that goes,
Until Pittsburgh or Cleveland figure out what their quarterback situation is,
you can't really count them as a competitive or contending team.

(05:23):
I'm fascinated with with the Cleveland Browns and what that
quarterback room is going to be because I feel like
you can make a case that Flacco should be the guy.
I feel like Kenny Pickett has a case. Dylan Gabriel
probably feels like he's got a case with what he
was able to accomplish at the college football level. And
Shador Sanders thinks he's a top five draft pick. So
I'm I'm fascinated out of Cleveland and out of Pittsburgh

(05:47):
to see how the quarterback room shakes out, to see
who becomes the starter, because until you have a starting
quarterback in the NFL, it doesn't matter what you have
on your roster. I mean, the Cleveland Browns are a
great example of that. The Steelers are a great example
of that. They've you've got talent on the roster, but
if you don't have a quarterback who can make it
all go, all of that is for nothing. Speaking of

(06:08):
the NFL, you know, it's it's that time, Austin. I
feel like this is what we're coming up on, is
the dry time for the NFL. Now they'll pepper some
stuff in there. You can still have some free agent signings.
The schedule release is a big deal, but you don't
have much a free agency to look forward to. Now
you don't have the draft to look forward to. Now
you can talk about rookie mini camps or OTAs, but

(06:30):
it's a little bit more of a quiet period. So
you know, with that being said, there's already mock drafts
going on around fantasy football. Jamar Chase is the collective
number one overall pick in fantasy football. If you head
the number one overall pick, are you taking Jamar Chase?

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (06:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Probably?

Speaker 3 (06:46):
John Robinson as two, Justin Jefferson is three, Ashton Genty
is already four.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
I don't know about all that, Jamiir Gibbs, sa Kwon
Barkley and others, but Jamar Chase getting some love already.
From a fantasy football standpoint. We talk all the time
on this or we have talked a lot about lineup
construction as it relates to what the Cincinnati Reds are doing.
And do you hit Ellie in the three spot? How

(07:13):
do you go about that?

Speaker 7 (07:14):
Well?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Jose Al Tuove, he was hitting leadoff for the Astros,
he asked, out of the leadoff spot, did you see this?
He said, I don't want to play the leadoff spot,
Move me into the two hole. He then hit a
two run home run in his first game in the
two hole. His reason he needed more time to get
in the dugout and get ready from left field. Just

(07:34):
felt like he made the switch to left field obviously. Yeah,
and said that when playing left field that run in
he doesn't have enough time to get ready for his
plate appearance, so he gets a little bit more time
next thing, you know. He Homer's shout out to jose
Al Tuvey getting stuff done nice.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Last night in the NBA.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Warriors get a nice win behind Steph Curry, behind Jimmy Butler,
over the Houston Rockets and the Cleveland Cavaliers. I know
we're not in Cleveland, but they're the closest them. I
guess you could say Indy. But what the Cavaliers are
doing right now? Are they under the radar as a
one seed? Because I feel like they're overlooked in the

(08:16):
East because of Boston and who they are. But the Caves,
in a Game four scenario where they could clinch on
the road in Miami last night, led the game forty
three to seventeen, forty three to seventeen after the first
quarter of play. They went on to dominate every single quarter.
They won one thirty eight to eighty three, and they

(08:37):
close out the Miami Heat. They advance into the playoffs. Tonight,
You get four games. Bucks Pacers, Pacers can close that out,
Piston's Knicks, the Knicks can close that one out. The
Magic Celtics. The Celtics can close that one out. So
three clinching opportunities for the home teams tonight, all favored
by at least five and a half or more, and

(08:58):
then five of not a closeout game Clippers Nuggets. That
series tied at to a piece takes place tonight as well.
Kentucky Derby is here, got Kentucky Derby weekend. We can
talk about that as we go. I have to ask
because it relates to our poll question today. Can you

(09:20):
give our poll question? And then we can dive into
this for a second, because there is everywhere I look.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Now our Revivefitnesssystems dot Com poll question presented by Revivefitnessystems

(09:47):
a day. It's been the debate raging across the internet
for the last few days, the entire weekend. It's basically
my entire timeline right now. One hundred men versus one gorilla.
Who you got man? Right now? Seventy eight percent say
one gorilla. I think I'm in agreement. I think I'm

(10:11):
in agreement with that. I am not. You think it's
a one hundred men. I think the men could pull
that off. Okay, you've better work in groups. Yeah, I mean,
no one one versus one, it's just not gonna work.
Two verses one, it's just not gonna work. But if
you have one hundred men and you come up with
a plan, it's gonna be large. Okay, I'm just I

(10:35):
don't know.

Speaker 8 (10:35):
Man.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Gorillas are strong, that's another unbelievably strong. But they're not
the brightest group really. Oh yeah, okay, I mean they're
closest to us us but like them freaking out? Yeah,
that's you've seen that video of that goose chasing that gorilla.
He got scared. What if he sees one hundred men

(10:57):
running at him. There's no change to run though. You're
in an arena, so box against the wall. I mean,
you think it's some of the best people you could
possibly get to take on if you get like a
star studded crew, you know what I mean? Okay, Aaron Donald,
the rock Man. Okay, you know people like that LEAs Campbell. Yeah,

(11:20):
get some of those strong man competitors. What about uh
who's gosh I just lost his name? That dude that's
a freak, the MMA fighter, the guy who's crazy? Which
one Connor McGregor, Kabebe and then Kbeebe Yeah, Cabebe Yeah,
Kabebe would get that like he's wrestled bears before, right,
like that type of person. Okay. Now, see, I'm if

(11:41):
I can hand pick my hundred men. Now, if you
pull one hundred dudes off the street.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
I'm thinking like if I go get a hundred guys
out of Hogies or something, No, those guys are going
to lose to that.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, But if you get to pick one hundred men, yeah, okay,
all right, let us know what you think.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
You see, basketball has added their final assistant role. They
go back to the UCF. Well they add Mama do Ngai?

Speaker 9 (12:09):
Come on?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
If you remember, he is a seven footer NBA veteran
from the Senegal. He's been an assistant coach at UCF
for the past couple of years. He has also had
stints at San Francisco, Georgia Tech, Coastal Carolina. Drafted into
the NBA in the first round by the Nuggets in
two thousand, played for the Raptors, Mavericks, Hawks, and Clippers

(12:31):
as well, So a nice get for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
For what it's worth, Ohio has the fourth most I'm
gonna mess this up Senegese population in the United States. Really, yes,
I didn't know that, behind North Carolina, California, and Texas.
So UC has added to their coaching staff and has

(12:55):
filled out kind of that coaching staff void up to
this point, so that is obviously something that is good
for the Bearcats as you continue forward. I have a
question about what's going on in college sports. Okay, I
saw this come across my timeline that Shaquille O'Neal has

(13:15):
agreed to become the Sacramento State general manager. Now, this
isn't the first former athlete that we have seen signed
on as a GM at a school. He has agreed
to an unpaid voluntary role. His son, Shakiro O'Neill, is
playing for Sacramento State. Former NBA guard Mike Bibbie is

(13:35):
the new coach at Sacramento State. Obviously, Steph Curry was
named an assistant at Davidson.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Is is that where Mike Vick is the football coach?

Speaker 9 (13:46):
Is that it?

Speaker 3 (13:46):
That's a good question. I don't know yet, But Andrew
Luck is a GM at Stanford. Now Trey Young is
a GM at Oklahoma. I'm curious these gms that are
taking over from a day to day standpoint, how much
can they actually be involved. I mean, Shack's one of
the busiest men in the world. I mean, he's got
his tentacles everywhere.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
From what I've understood is that these guys basically just
put their name on it and are used for marketing
and uh, kind of closing the deal with some of
these players. Okay, so I don't think they're in the
trenches evaluating guards in the portal. I think that makes

(14:29):
a little bit more sense. That's what I understand it
to be.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
Yeah, okay, but good for Sacramento State and the big
fella Shaquille O'Neal. I don't have anything else here in
segment number one. I'd like to get into some Cincinnati Reds,
all right, welcome dive into some Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Bengals as well. This review. Where are they from? Cincinnati?
This review of yesterday's sports story is brought to you

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Your phone calls five one, three, seven, four nine, fifteen
thirty five straight for the Reds. We'll recap what happened
last night. I see Mark is on hold. Oh and
Mark's flyneup. I'll give him his flowers right now. The
Reds record win Friedel McClain and de la Cruz bat

(15:26):
one two three in the lineup is eight and eight.
There you go, Mark, There you go, mayonate and eight.
Marinate on that a little bit while we go to break.
We'll get to your phone calls next Sincy three sixty
ESBN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of our
good friends at Skyline Chile.

Speaker 10 (15:45):
Now your chance to win one thousand dollars entered this.

Speaker 11 (15:51):
Two one Martday rips this one on a line into
the left center field gap.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
That is down, and that's gonna roll all the way
to the wall. Here comes lucks the scar.

Speaker 11 (16:00):
Marte not stopping around second on his way to third,
diving in way ahead of the throw with an RBI
triple two to one Reds first triple of the year
for Noelvie Martell.

Speaker 12 (16:15):
He hit that bad boy right on the barrel, right
over the shortstop's head, a high cutter up.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
In a way.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Man hotter than surface of the sun. Nice, dude, is
Noelve Marte for the Reds. I put the Reds up
two to one, and Gavin lux double in the six
made it three to one and the Reds win Game
one against those pesky Cardinals, who fall to two to

(16:46):
twelve on the road.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
By the way.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Three to one, the Reds are sixteen and thirteen. They're
one game back of the Chicago Cubs. Now, the Reds
have played a leave the third most games in Major
League Baseball up to this point against teams for the
losing record. They've played seventeen games against teams for the loss.
What was the stat you told me earlier about the Cubs.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
The Cubs have played zero games against teams below five hundred.
That changes tonight when they play the Pittsburgh Pirates. That
is insane to think about. That's a crazy stat. We
talked about that before the season. I mean, and in
the first month, they have the hardest opening month any
team has ever had in baseball. They've already finished their

(17:32):
season series with the Padres, Diamondbacks and Dodgers Nuts. It's
pretty wild. And they come out of it seventeen and twelve. Yeah,
and they haven't even played the crappy teams yet. Yep,
that's the craziest part about it.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Now, in this series against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they do
get Paul Skins, so that should be a fantastic one
on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
But that's looking ahead to the Cubs.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
Let's talk about what the Reds did last night against
foe of the Andre Polante. And I don't think Polonte
was necessarily bad. Six inning, six hits, three runs, struck
out four Cincinnati Reds. But Nick Martinez put together a
fantastic outing last night. He went six, allowed five hits,
one run, He struck out three Saint Louis Cardinals, and

(18:20):
I believe, for the at least the second game in
a row, his last outing against the Marlins five and
two thirds, two runs. I think he's kind of weathered
the storm here a little bit. He's right at the ship.
He did what he needed to do. That was a
great start. It was a much needed start. Graham Ashcraft
bounced back well last night. In an inning he struck
out all three that he saw. Tony Santion struck out
one in a perfect inning, and Emelio Pagan closed the

(18:43):
door in the ninth with just seven pitches. Six of
those were strikes, so awesome stuff from the pitching staff.
The Reds belted out eight hits last night. Matt McClain
had himself a hit, also hit the ball hard in
another at bat, had himself a hit. Gavin Lux your

(19:03):
leader right now with a three point fifty two average,
two doubles, one rbi, noelve Marte You just heard the
triple right there? What's even better about Noelve Marte? Right now, Austin,
he walked in his other two plate appearances last night,
seeing the ball really well. Blake Dunn had a hit,
and Jose Trevigno had himself a third inning four hundred

(19:29):
and nine foot home run to center field. That's how
the Reds got the runs. Three was enough for what
the pitchers were able to do. Where do we even
start with the Reds right now, Austin? Is it the
run that Gavin Lux is on Is it, nuelve Marte?
Is it the continued success, the continued success of Jose

(19:49):
Travino and what they're getting at with him. What's your
biggest takeaway from last night?

Speaker 2 (19:53):
They're playing consistent, like over and over again. I've said,
if they can be consistent like, that's what I'm asking for.
They've gotten consistently solid pitching, both from the bullpen and
the starters. They've gotten solid consistent defense, especially last night,
really good defense behind Nick Martinez. You've gotten now for

(20:15):
what eleven twelve games of both Gavin Lux and Ellie
de la Cruz. Consistent hitting, consistent excuse me, good approaches
at the plate. Noel vi Marte continues to put it
together as I can't seem to get the frog out
of my throat. But consistency in pretty much every facet,

(20:38):
the bullpen, the starting pitching, the defense, and the guys
in the media, your lineup. Jose Travino, I mean, nobody's
been more consistent than him from day one. He's hit
and what you've seen from Lux and I know Francona
talked about this a little bit after the game too.
Is like, even at the early part of the season,
Lux was kind of hitting into some bad luck, but

(20:59):
you could tell it there. And now he's leading all
of Major League Baseball in that. And you know, I
think the big thing is about their defense. They were
one of the worst in baseball in defensive run saves
last year run saved they were twenty eighth. Right now
they're fourth. They're outs above average has improved dramatically up
to I believe third in Major League Baseball. So they've

(21:22):
cleaned up all that stuff we've been asking them to
clean up. They've had great defensive play from the middle
infield with Ellie and McClain, and great defensive play from
the outfields. And that's just huge.

Speaker 9 (21:35):
You had that.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
You mentioned Gavin Lucks.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
He is leading the National League from a batting average
standpoint at three fifty two.

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Actually, I'm looking right now, Nick Crawl is on MLB
Network and they're talking about defense. The Reds have the
best defensive efficiency in Major League Baseball at seven fifty.
How crazy is that? You wouldn't take it? No, you
wouldn't think.

Speaker 3 (21:57):
I mean, there was no chance that you've watched this
team through now twenty nine games and you would think that.
But here we are three games over five hundred seven
and six now at home and trending in the right direction,
three more opportunities against this Cardinals team. And again we
mentioned Saint Louis fantastic hitting this year two and twelve

(22:19):
away from their home stadium. So there are things that
are coming together. We mentioned yesterday Terry Francona had a
conversation with Jamer Candelareo.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
That he talked about.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Didn't really go into detail as about that conversation, but
the elephant in the room as Jamer is not performing
up the standards and there needs to be a game
plan with that going forward. I'm sure they're getting on
the same page. Mentioned it yesterday as well. Blake Dunn
has played better as of late. He had another hit
last night for the Cincinnati Reds. I think when you
look at this team at sixteen and thirteen and say,

(22:52):
man that the start Spencer Steer has and that the
way Matt McClain has struggled and to still see them
putting some stuff together is a very welcome sign right now.
If you're talking about long term, if you're thinking that
McLean and Spencer Steer are going to kind of find
their levels, that's all good things going forward for the
Cincinnati Reds. Here is a couple of minutes of Terry

(23:13):
Francona speaking after last night's win over the Cardinals.

Speaker 6 (23:16):
You know what, Jim, I can't think of a day
verse is not important to win. You can come up
with a reason every day, middle of the road trip,
middle the You know, it's a game, so it's important.

Speaker 8 (23:26):
How about.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
You know what? I thought, he did a really good job.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
A couple of innings there were looked like he kind
of lost his strike zone, but he got it back.
We turned a couple of really nice double plays. He
got us to a point a game where I thought,
let's give Ashcraft a clean inning. Nick had done his job,
and you could see how excited he was. He's out
in the field after the game.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
How was the defense that and this is.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
A club that has struggled in the past few years defensively.

Speaker 6 (23:55):
You know what was really exciting I thought was like
McLean's had a rough stretch swinging about. He really played
a good second base tonight. That was a nice play.
That ball that new Bar hit, that's good play.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
That was huge. I mean that changes the whole game. Yeah,
you looked at the guys like tornado blocks at Hayes.
The guys you brought in, it seems like they're too
exactly what you guys had hoped and they end by.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
Them and what they really I think that's exactly true.
I agree with everything he said right there. There's they're
they're so solid that our guys I think, I think
brad Nick deserve a lot of credit. They you know,
you know, sometime in the winter target because you gotta
kind of stay in your lane, which is hard to do.
But they they got some guys that really helped us.

(24:47):
What did you see the blocks of far cause that
bats are are tremendous. I even thought at the beginning
of the year, when he didn't have much to show
for it, he was swinging the back great. I think
went through a little bit of a law. But he's
not afraid to see pitches. He's not afraid to go
deep into count and when he hits the ball the
other way like that, and you've heard me say that
about all the guys, makes him pretty dangerous as a

(25:10):
Graham As the ball is hit, he's been pretty good.
I mean, I I you know, I would have a
hard time. I'm just glad when they get him out.
But he's been he's been a difference maker for a bullpen.

Speaker 13 (25:25):
You get a guy like that coming in the souventh
benning after the starter and he shuts it down.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
If there's something something to the fact of no, I
know what you're saying.

Speaker 6 (25:35):
You know, you get a guy out of the game
that was pitching really well and you don't want to
open that, you know, put a crack in the door.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
And her bullpen did a really good job. You mentioned
about earlier when I think Wayne gott a down.

Speaker 14 (25:46):
Were you even thinking third or.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
It seemed like.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
We always preach getting out but the players right in
front of him, and he did a good job. And
and Marte the Good did a good job of stay
at home. He hit a ball off of his.

Speaker 9 (26:08):
Quad.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Okay, I don't know what it is because I don't
think I have one. It's hard to talk about stuff
you don't. You know, he hit a ball off his
quad yesterday in Denver and it really swelled up. And
he ran today about eighty percent, and we kind of
put our eads together. I'm like, man, if he if
he does something, you know, if this turns into something
it's not supposed to kick myself, so we made a change.

Speaker 15 (26:34):
He got baged up and.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
He got hit in the toe and he's actually they're
looking at him now. I don't think it's going to
impair his speed a ton, but.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
All right, so there is some uh Terry Frank Kennel
always better in those situations coming off a win or
five games in a row. At that lightens up a
little bit of everything right now around the Cincinnati Reads.
We'll look ahead to what's next for the Cincinnati Reds,
but first we'll get some of your phone calls. Next
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station five one, three, seven,

(27:05):
four nine, fifteen thirty Thanks to our friends at Skyline Chili.

Speaker 14 (27:10):
Loegar, Let's pretend that today is the day after the Bengals.

Speaker 10 (27:15):
The voice of the Tri State sports fan have just
won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 16 (27:19):
Loegar today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Don't get caught off guard by the element.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Cincy three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Welcome back Cincy three to sixty. Thanks to Skyline Chili.
Thank you for listening. You know, if you'd like, you
can get on the iHeartRadio app and leave us a talkback.
We'll get to those talkbacks in the second hour. We'll
give away a Cinti Shirts gift card. Now I'm not
in Friday this week, Austin, so do we give away
the gift card Thursday? Are you going to decide on

(28:03):
on Friday? That's a good question. I haven't thought that far.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
I'll give my input on Thursday, okay, and then you
can make the final So maybe we'll just do it
on Thursday. There you go.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
We'll figure it out as we go. All right, we uh,
we've talked a ton about the the Cincinnati Reds. We'll
get so uh uh some more conversation in just a minute,
as you look ahead to what's next for the Reds.
Before that, let's grab a couple of phone calls.

Speaker 9 (28:25):
What's up, Mark, Hey, thanks for taking my call. I
won't double flowers when you talked about my my lineup,
you know they ate and eight you know I brought
a Matt McClain. I think it was a was a
couple of weeks ago, and uh, because I was worried
about him and I've been hearing some Matt McClain even

(28:46):
though he got a hit last night. I worry about
players when they hurt they shoulder because in the past
it seemed like they don't be the same after they
hurt their shoulders. And I'm I'm I'm kind of concerned
about him, you know, if he's gonna get back to
where he was after hurting his shoulders. So it makes

(29:09):
me think about Austin Kurrent. I don't know, if you
remember him you should return and when when he when
he heard his shoulder with that collision at home plate,
he wasn't never the same after that, So I just
kind of worry about that. But well, we'll see how
it plays out. But uh, I just think they got

(29:30):
a better chance to win with that lineup as opposed
to you know any I think that lineup gives him
a better Uh yeah, yeah, exactly the Jamber story. If
you had to take a guess, what you think is
gonna happen with him? I mean, will it Will it

(29:51):
get to the point to where the Reds are going
to eat that money and try to make a spot
for somebody else, or will will they try to see
what they can get out of what's your opinion about that?

Speaker 3 (30:04):
I just think it's it's I think Austin, you can
correct me as well. I think it's around thirty million
dollars they would eat if they if they got rid
of him. I don't think they're willing to do that.
I think he remains on the roster. I just think
he's going to be used in the way that he's
been used over the last week or so, which is sparingly.

Speaker 9 (30:24):
Yeah, okay, okay, well yeah, we'll we'll we'll see how
that works out. But yeah, what Stevenson gets back, who
goes down who? Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, it's a good question because both both catchers on
the roster right now have made their case to remain
on the roster. You you would think they would make
a case to continue to get at bats, even when
Stevenson is catching from a d H roll.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
I think it's going to be interesting to watch because
Noela Marte has certainly made that decision hard as well.
It's not going to be easy as just sending him
back down with the way that he's playing. I think
it's going to be fascinating to see how they they
juggle the roster. And they did give himself a little
time because Stevenson needs to the end of this week
to continue working in Triple A. But it is it's
gonna be something certainly to watch. Cees is going to

(31:12):
be healthy at some point as well.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Again, I assume ce S is going to go to
Triple A when he's healthy, and I would assume Austin
wins is the guy who goes down that. Or there's
you know, we're just tough because he's been really good that,
or there's a random you know I L that pops
up where you know, Candelario goes on the I L
or mclayon goes on the I L something like that.

Speaker 9 (31:34):
Okay, one last point then I'll get off. I watched
the Yankees game over the weekend and I saw and
Judge bat in second. Yes, so I'd be going I'd
be going crazy if I was a Yankee fan, like
why you why would you bat him second? You got
him in the middle of the lineup so he can
drive and runs that And that makes no sense coming

(31:56):
from my manager. What do you mean you grew up here?

Speaker 2 (31:59):
He's got the best batting average in baseball. I want
him as many at bouts as possible. We've talked about
this extensively, Mark across Major League baseball, the best hitters
hit second. That's why we think Ellie should be hitting second.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
Well, you know what, I agree. I agree with that
if if he was gonna hit for a higher average,
because then that would mean you'd be on base more.
Here's somebody behind.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Ellen, Aaron Judge.

Speaker 17 (32:26):
Yeah, no, hell, you're talking about Eli.

Speaker 9 (32:30):
I would have I would agree with him bat and
second and McClain batten behind him. I wasn't counting on
McClean having the struggles that he was having, but I
would support that.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Why doesn't that apply to Aaron Judge?

Speaker 8 (32:44):
Then?

Speaker 9 (32:45):
Oh, come on, man, we're talking about a fifty sixty
home run guy. You want that guy coming to the
play with run his own base within bat and second.
He's not coming to the plate a lot of times
withoud run his own base.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
I mean, I'm okay, second major League Baseball. He's tied
for the league lead in Major League Baseball and runs
bat in.

Speaker 9 (33:05):
Okay, Okay, Austin, I'm old school. I grew up in
the seventies and the eighties.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
I'm just telling you, the stats say that you're wrong.
The stats say that you're wrong.

Speaker 9 (33:18):
Okay, Well, Dan, if you think I'm wrong, but to
me my own personal opinion, I think he should be
back in the middle of it.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Okay, but again the point, the point is you're making
a statement, Mark, You're making a statement that he doesn't
come to the plate with runners on base, and that's
factually not true.

Speaker 9 (33:39):
Okay. Well, like I said, I'm not a Yankee sayer,
But like I say, if I was, I'd be going
crazy that he's back in second.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, you'd be being made fun of. Thanks, Mark.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
You know it's it's hard because and again, everyone's entitled
to their own opinion. I'm not going to bash someone
for having their opinion in a day's age. With the
universal dh and the way this Yankees lineup is built,
I mean, you can't argue he's hitting four oh five
and as Austin said, he's leading the league in home runs,

(34:12):
and he's tied for first in RBIs, he's he's number
one in ops. I'm not touching anything that Aaron Judge
is doing. And for that reason, it's the reason we've
literally talked about getting Ellie up in the lineup to
give him more opportunities. But to Mark's first point, the
McClean thing is interesting because you know, we keep going
back of okay, well, he just needs some time. And

(34:34):
my question would be, what is that threshold. He's had
seventy four bats this year? Is it the one hundred
and bat threshold? Is it one twenty? Is it one fifty?
Before you say okay, because you did it with Spencer
Steeer already this year, you move Spencer Steer down in
the lineup, how many bats do you need to see
from Mount McLean before you move him down to the lineup.
I just think the roster construction the lineup will be

(34:56):
interesting to make the point a little bit more. The
Terry Francona and Jamer Candelario conversation, the quote was from Francona.
I want him to understand he's a veteran player that's
had some really good years, and right now it's hard
because there's guys ahead of him. I wanted to kind
of see how he was doing and talk to him,
let him know that we certainly understand and care, but

(35:17):
that I don't always have the answer you're looking for
six for his last seventy four. That speaks for itself
from Jamer Candelario. But I do think that as much
as we talk about Jamer and as much as we've
seen now some movement in the lineup with Spencer Steer,
I think a fair question going forward is at what

(35:38):
point would Matt McClain get moved down in that lineup
a little bit more as well, because if you make
the same argument for other players in this roster about
Ellie moving up, you're saying, Okay, I want my best
hitters to get as many at bats as possible. If
that's the case, then Matt McClain shouldn't be getting more
at bats than others on this roster that are hitting
the ball a little bit better. You do think it's

(36:00):
going to be fascinating going forward. Marcus is calling as well,
what's up? Marcus Man?

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Five in a row?

Speaker 8 (36:06):
What do you know?

Speaker 2 (36:07):
That's right?

Speaker 17 (36:09):
So Mark kind of stole my thunder. I had a
couple of roster questions for you.

Speaker 18 (36:13):
One was the Cees thing that I don't think he's
got a job when he gets off the IL with
Marte playing the way he is.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
Yeah right now?

Speaker 19 (36:23):
Yeah, And.

Speaker 18 (36:25):
To go on the Stevenson coming back on Friday, Austin
wins doesn't have any options left, so you can't send
him the triple A. You had the DFA in I
don't think you jeopardized DFA and him. I think you
carry three catchers until something works himself out.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Yeah, that's a good point, and that is maybe where
is we alluded to.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Maybe that's where Jamer lands with an injury or Matt
McLean lands with an injury and you're able to put
him on the injured list and and kind of push
the can down the road a little bit further. But yeah,
I certainly agree with with no options left. I don't
want to run the risk of losing Austin Wins, who's
been fantastic for this team.

Speaker 18 (37:06):
Right, and to go on the Jamber thing. I mean,
I know we've beaten this horse so many times when
it comes to the organization and trying to put the
financial to the side versus winning. But you can't sit
there and tell me that if you got a thirty
million dollars check right in front of you and you
see Jambers numbers and you know that he's he's not

(37:28):
playing well to win, Just cut ties with him and
get somebody up here that can stay up here, that
can contribute to win, because what he's doing, he's not
helping us win.

Speaker 19 (37:40):
And I just don't think thirty million is going to
be it's worth keeping him up here.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
That's where I see me. That's where I think there's
like the parameters on the extent of what Nick Kral
can do because he might not he might want to
do that, but organizationally might not be able to or
maybe Francona might want to do that. But Carl says no, Like,
it's just hard.

Speaker 3 (38:05):
So much money that for a team that is criticized
for not spending it, to essentially just throw that away
is tough.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
A thirty million dollar, you know, deal for the Reds
they want you to feel like is a huge deal
in the grand scheme, it's not that big of a deal.
But it would be admitting a mistake in paying someone
to go away, and it's hard to convince someone, you know,
in business that that's the right thing to do. Yep.

Speaker 18 (38:34):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, like like right now, if you're
looking at him, I know he's head back to back
like good starts, But we got fifty one million dollars
being paid two players, and it's not looking like that's
a good deal at all.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 18 (38:45):
Yeah, Like I say, outside out outside the last two
starts for Martinez but I mean he's pitched.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
He's pitched well the last two. And that's the part
that's frustrating is you find Lux and you get Travino
and Brady Singer and they're all on deals that make
sense and are affordable and they fantastic, but you have
two big swings and misses that make you think, gosh,
where could that money have been spent better elsewhere?

Speaker 9 (39:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (39:08):
And I mean and awesome that he's five million dollars.
I mean that's looking like a steal. Yeah, and I
know it's only a month. We can't go over go
over dramatic with it, but uh that Gavin Lux. Take
that mic from La Have and I'll go.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
Too good on visit man. I know I said I
said that on Twitter yesterday. I was like, you know,
I was told this Gavin Lux guy sin Man, he's
so he's locked in.

Speaker 18 (39:33):
Oh yeah he had, he had definitely is but that's
all I had.

Speaker 19 (39:36):
Hopefully get six in a row.

Speaker 3 (39:37):
Thank you, Marcus appreciate that. Yeah, it's the money is
so hard because if he's any other player, he's not
on the roster, and you you just you you hate
it because you feel like there's so much money that
could be spent to make this roster better than what
it is.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Good is consistent is though the Crawl and Meta and
the Castellinis are not meddling in Terry Francona's ability to
mess with the lineup. Sure, because there are places throughout
baseball that if you're paying a guy thirty million dollars,
then you have no option but to play him. And
that might be the case. Yeah, that might be the

(40:17):
case keeping him around, and I get that just from
a positional versatility. He can play first, he can play third,
he can DH's switch hitter, that in and of itself
might be enough to keep him around. And hope that
he turns it around at the plate and maybe sitting
and not playing every day can be a positive for him.
I don't know remember the first time, the first two

(40:37):
games of the year where I thought he was going
to be great, Yeah, the first The good thing is
that baseball ops people are not meddling in the construction
of the lineup, and Terry Francona has the authority to
make those decisions. Yeah, that's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Shout out to my wife for actually listening to the
show today as well. I said, push the can down
the road. It's actually kicked the can down the road.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
Listening right here on ESPN thirty ESPN fifteen thirty. Hey uh,
if you're following along on the iHeartRadio app. Go ahead
and leave us a talkback. We'll get to those talkbacks
in uh and iur number two. I asked the question
today one hundred men versus gorilla. What are your thoughts
on that you could talk NFL could talk Bengals, could
talk Reds anything you want. Uh, we'll get to those
talkbacks as soon as we're done with Joe Danoman to

(43:16):
kick off our number two as it relates to tonight
for the Cincinnati Reds. No lineup yet for the Reds.
We'll get you that when it does become available. What
we do know, Uh, Miles Mikolas versus Brady Singer. Uh,
Micheles is zho and two with a five to seven
oho e RA on the season. Brady Singer four and
oh with a three six two e RA also have

(43:39):
been getting some great run support, as has Brady Singer.

Speaker 2 (43:42):
But you know, Michaels has been uh the word washed
has been thrown around with him. I've heard that a
little bit this year with cardinal fans.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Uh, Brady Singer. We we've talked so much about you know,
the the the Hunter Green and the Nicolodolo start in
the money paid to Nick Martinez and Andrew Abbott coming
back Brady Singer. When you look at that deal with
the Kansas City Royals, and I don't have it in
front of me right now, I'm looking it up right now,

(44:12):
but I know Jonathan India, currently hitting two thirteen for
the Kansas City Royals, has not hit a home run
on the season. You look at what the Reds did there,
and I know that we're easy and we're quick to criticize,
but it looks like the Reds got it right as

(44:33):
it pertains at least an early return on Brady Singer
and Jonathan India, and if Brady Singer can continue to
do what he's done through his first couple starts as
as Cincinnati read and be, you know that next guy
in line. We know what Green is, we know what
Lodolo can be. Brady Singer pushing his name up there
as well. It was one of the more under the
radar from a Major League Baseball standpoint, not here in Cincinnati,

(44:56):
but a little bit of an under the radar move
as Major League Baseball goes, and the Reds have seen
some really good early returns on Brady Singer, tied for
third in Major League Baseball and wins at four to
oh the era under four and thirty two strikeouts on
the season with just a one point one to three whip,
so a lot to see if Brady Singer can capitalize

(45:16):
on that. Nick Martinez did it last night against a
very good lineup for the Saint Louis Cardinals. Brady Singer
gets his opportunity tonight at Great American Ballpark as a
lineup comes available. We'll get you that first pitch at
six forty as the Reds look to take game two
of a four game set. When we come back, Joe

(45:36):
Daniman Fox nineteen will kick us off our number two

Speaker 19 (46:35):
Joe taking a break from one hundred Men Versus Gorilla?
And Tarry Ethan's mom against the Warriors Sandy to talk
Cincinnati sports with my favorite two radio hosts.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Well, you can't say that and then just not expect
to dive in. Who do you got one one hundred
men or a gorilla?

Speaker 19 (46:58):
I got one hundred men. I've found the debate fascinating.
I find the simulations, whether they're AI or some kind
of a graphic, something that I can't turn my eyes from.
I think the humans have to use two things to
their advantage. Here a the numbers and be our intelligence.
And I was looking up some stats, guys looking up

(47:19):
stats on one hundred gorilla reshirt. Research shows that a
gorilla can lift up to twenty seven times their full
body weight. They can tear down banana trees without trying hard.
They've escaped from cages by bending iron bars, and they
have a bite force around one three hundred pounds per
square inch, double that of a lion. So what you

(47:41):
gotta find and understand is you can't do this with
one hundred people all at once, right.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
That's you know people.

Speaker 19 (47:47):
There has to be waves of like fifteen to twenty,
and that first waves has to be guys with no futures.

Speaker 21 (47:53):
Man.

Speaker 19 (47:55):
Those have to be the guys that are willing to
just go in there, distract the hack out of the gorilla,
take the kill shot, and let other people jump on
from behind. And those first wave of people, even jumping
off from behind, are probably going to be shooken off
or taken and thrown. But I think eventually enough people
will be in on some limbs to latch on the

(48:17):
limbs and wear the gorilla down. I think the only
way you do it though, is just by piling bodies
and suffocating him. Eventually the only way it happens. But
I do think, uh, the the idea of the sheer
numbers and the intelligence of the strategy can give the
one hundred men.

Speaker 17 (48:35):
I think the advantage in.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
This fight sheer numbers and the intelligence of the strategy.

Speaker 19 (48:42):
Guy that would go and do this. You know, you
talk about intelligence, and any guy that would do this
wouldn't have any intelligence. So I'm kind of speaking out
of both sides.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
The worst thing to get some of the more less
intelligent folks out of the way. I mean, that should
probably do it. Joe, thanks for joining us. That was right, Joe.

Speaker 19 (49:02):
Enjoy the derby.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
Everyone's got a great Everyone's got an opinion. How do
you view the six draft picks that were made as
a whole here by the Cincinnati Bengals over the weekend.

Speaker 19 (49:14):
I think there are some scenes guys that came out
of what the Bengals did, and I think Zach Taylor
talked about them after the Bengals finished up on Saturday night. Look,
we go back and talk about and think about last season,
and we've talked about that on this show. The idea
that it just didn't feel right, especially at the beginning
of the year. It just didn't feel right in the
locker room, it didn't feel right on the field. And

(49:36):
I think the Bengals went a long way this offseason,
not just in the draft, but also on their coaching
staff to try to to try to fix that, to
try to remedy that, and we can talk about the
high character guys the Bengals brought in the great locker
room guys that stuff matters. The Bengals are betting on
not not only talent, but chemistry locker room for helping

(50:00):
them get back on the get back of the playoffs.
And the other thing too, I think guys that we're
seeing here with this team and what they did in
the draft is I think the Bengals are betting on
their coaches. I think they're betting on their coaches that
they can help develop these guys and get these guys
to a level where you're looking at the especially the
first three picks and maybe eventually more can all be

(50:20):
contributors early, maybe even from starters out of that group.
Certainly in the first few rounds. They're looking at those
guys as starters. But I think they wanted to write
what just felt wrong inside the locker room last year.
And I also think they're just betting on themselves that
they can develop better now, especially with the defensive coaching
staff and the changes they made They're and also on

(50:41):
the offensive line as well. And I don't think those
things can be discounted. It's not just free agency, it's
not just the draft. It's also new coaches, and I
think the Bengals are betting on those three things coming together.
And we can all sit here today and say this
team is better. There's no doubt this team is better
now than the whether what they were at the end
of the season. But are they marketing better?

Speaker 8 (51:03):
Have they?

Speaker 19 (51:04):
Are they closing the gap on the real contenders in football?
The Super Bowl champions? Have they closed the gap enough
on the Philadelphia Eagles that they can win a Super
Bowl this coming season. That'll be determined.

Speaker 17 (51:16):
But what you're seeing the.

Speaker 19 (51:16):
Bengals betting on right now is that a better locker
room and betting on their coaches being better at developing
players is going to be a difference maker for this
team this season.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
It does feel, and I did think the theme coming
out was that inside the walls of that stadium, they
feel like they are closer than maybe what some of
the people that look at this team from the outside
view that they are. They feel, as you mentioned, with
new coaches and some new schemes and some fresh starts,
and the way maybe they finished the year last year
that they are better from a roster construction standpoint that

(51:51):
maybe others didn't think they were.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
Do you believe that to be true?

Speaker 3 (51:55):
Do you think that there is more to this roster
when you look at the fumble against the Patriots in
the fourth and long against Kansas City and the leads
blown against Baltimore. Is this roster, as currently constructed, closer
than maybe what we viewed as so many big holes
in this offseason?

Speaker 17 (52:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 19 (52:12):
I think this is a playoff team. I don't think
anybody is going to argue against that. After what happened
last year, it seemed like anything that could go wrong
did go wrong outside of injuries to the biggest names
on this team, and they still were there in the
final week of the season, needing some help, maybe just
to get to the playoffs, but they were there that

(52:33):
despite what happened and everything that did go wrong. Certainly
the Bengals are banking on some of the draft picks
they've made in recent years, especially in the secondary, and
that's the one area of coming out of the draft
that I am still very concerned about. And it's not
just a safety position with Jordan Battle and Geno Stone.
To me, that doesn't feel like it's good enough on

(52:55):
paper for this team to take the kind of leak
defensively they want to take. But it's also the question
marks there at corner as well. Cam Taylor Britt did
not have a good season last year. He would tell
you that he had confidence issues. Can he get that fixed?
Dax Hill has question marks coming back from a devastating
injury and trying to get back to the form he

(53:16):
was having. Who's going to play slot? Is it going
to be Is it going to be Josh Newton? Is
he ready for that kind of jump? So there are
a lot of questions in the secondary that the Bengals
didn't answer. But we all understood that there's no way
the Bengals can fix everything in one offseason. We talked
about it during the season, the idea that this wasn't

(53:36):
going to be fixed during the year and probably wasn't
going to be fixed in one offseason. But I do
think the Bengals took a lot of steps towards fixing it,
and I do think there are some positives looking at
what they've done both in free agency and in the
draft to make this defense better. There's no question they've
thrown resources at it in the draft by using four

(53:56):
of their six picks on defense. But I think they're
still banking on some of these young players that were
there last year to take a next step as well,
and that certainly comes with, at least from the fan base,
I'm sure, just a bit of trepidation wondering if these
guys can do it, are they capable of taking a
next step? And it starts with me in the secondary

(54:17):
that they didn't address really at all in the off season,
in free agency or the draft, And I think that's
why there's a lot of pressure on a pick like
Demetrius Knight in the second round because of the butterfly
effect that it has that they didn't draft the guard
there and that they forced themselves to draft the garden
round three, and by doing so, they didn't address safety,

(54:37):
and so there's a butterfly effect to all these picks.
And that's why, you know, looking at this, you know
as a whole, on defense, Yeah they got better up front,
Yeah they got better at linebacker, but the secondary to
me still feels like a big question. And I think
you're seeing the Bengals right now really banking on the
draft picks they've made in recent years for those guys

(54:59):
to continue to take next step going forward.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
Dan Horde joined US last week and said that he
believed that guard was the biggest hole that this team
has on the current roster. That was ahead of the
NFL Draft. Coming out of the draft weekend, are you
comfortable with where this team is at guard or are
you still a little bit of cautious?

Speaker 17 (55:17):
Yeah, somewhere in between.

Speaker 19 (55:19):
I liked Fairchild. I thought Rattlers was going to be
the guy in the second round and I thought that
was the slam dunk to put him right next to
a Marius Men's and not worry about it for several years.
But Dylan Fairchild is I don't want to use the
word specialists, but that's what he does.

Speaker 17 (55:35):
He's he's a.

Speaker 19 (55:35):
Great pass protecting guard, and we know how much the
Bengals pass, and so I think it fits what they're
trying to do. Now, can he be coached up by
the new offensive line coach? And it goes back to
my original point of them banking on em, betting on
themselves and the coaching staff to help Dylan Fairchild around
out the rest of his game. I'm not totally comfortable

(55:57):
with where they are at guard. Is it gonna be Patrick,
Is it gonna be Ford? Is it gonna be Vulson?
Could Vulson be a guy they cuts considering how much
money they do owe him coming up here this coming season,
So there's still question marks, so you can't be totally
comfortable with where they are. I do like the presence

(56:18):
of Dylan Fairchild. I liked everything he said, and he
got drafted in the day he was here in Cincinnati.
I think that goes for all the guys that they
brought into town, and especially Shamar Stewart as well, because
there was a lot of questions guys about Shamar Stewart
and the production versus the talent. But when he walked
into the room and the way he kind of carried

(56:38):
himself in his brief visit to Cincinnati, there's there's a
real presidence about this guy. And you know, I know
you had to be cautious about those intangible kind of things,
especially when it comes to NFL players, But but he
has a lot of the it that we didn't feel
when Miles Murphy came on his first visit here to
Cincinnati after being a first round draft pick, And I'm

(57:00):
just talking personality and presence. But Shamar Stewart has that stuff,
and I think that stuff matters. Now we'll see what
it looks like on Sundays. I am a believer in
Shamar Stewart and that his ability will ultimately lead to
a success.

Speaker 17 (57:15):
I mean, he's instantly what.

Speaker 19 (57:16):
A top five athlete on the team already before ever
practicing with the Bengals, just based on his members because
he told me he was dunking at five to nine
in sixth grade. That's the kind of athlete this guy is.
That that's ridiculous. So Samar Stewart, I'm a believer in him.
But when it comes to guards back to your original question, Tony,

(57:39):
I don't know how you can't wonder about what the
plan might be once they get into the off season,
work here on the field in the coming weeks, and
then certainly in the training camp of who's going to
start on the other side of Dylan Fairchild, assuming that
Fairchild is a starter day one.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
I've seen some say that the selection of Stuart and
where they're at roster wise, gives the Bengals a little
bit more leverage with the Trey Hendrickson situation. Do you
agree with that. Do you think this past weekend had
any effect on those negotiations with Trey I.

Speaker 19 (58:12):
Hope not, because the Bengals need him and until Shamar
Stewart can be a proven commodity, I don't see how
you can legitimately go into a season thinking you're going
to play for a division title and a division as
good as the AFC North, and then try to win
playoff games and ultimately try to get into a Super
Bowl without your best defensive player that you do have

(58:36):
control of at least for one more year. So I
don't see like maybe in the future, Shore, but as
of now, I don't see how this team can legitimately
seriously take the football field this coming season without Trey
Hendrickson on one side of that defensive line and think
they're going to be contenders for whatever it is they

(58:57):
believe they can contend for now. I've said all along
that with this team, when you have a quarterback and
there's one glaring need for this team, well there's more,
but one of the biggest glaring needs is that you
have to find ways to pressure the quarterback more that
you just have to keep taking swings at it until
you get it right, So I was in favor all along,

(59:18):
whether it was interior defensive tackle who can get pressure
on the quarterback. And I think we know who the
Bengals are going to pick in the first round next year.
I would assume it's probably a defensive tackle when the
Bengals are on the clock in twenty twenty six. But
you got to keep taking swings at that position, especially
when there's a very good chance that Trey Hendrickson isn't
a Bengal after this coming season, and certainly to your point,

(59:41):
there's still a question mark on what his future looks
like for this season. But if the Bengals are seriously
going to take the field and look at this as
trying to win the AFC North and trying to win
playoff games and ultimately getting to where they want to go,
Trey Henderson has to be a part of this formula.
And I've still maintained it be a Bengaled this coming season.

Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
After that, I'm not sure Joda switch gears for a
moment here. The Reds have won five in a row.
We know that the starting pitching has been good this season,
but from a hitting standpoint, from a lineup construction standpoint,
they're showing a little bit more consistency. Is there anything
that you've been able to point to or see that
maybe has led to some more success at the dish?

Speaker 19 (01:00:23):
Okay, So let me talk through this with you guys,
because I'm trying not to sound like a hater, Okay,
And I know that's what it would sound like if
I said this. I'm just still curious about the Reds
against really good teams. A graphic popped up on my
timeline yesterday when I was skipping through one hundred men
versus Gorilla, and it was this of the number of

(01:00:45):
teams in Major League Baseball and the number of games
they played against teams over five hundred or under five hundred.
And the Reds right now have one of the three
or four easiest schedules so far in this season. And
the question is, you know what's real and what isn't now.
I think what is real so far is, and we

(01:01:06):
said it before the season, is that this pitching staff
is good enough for this team to go to the playoffs,
whether that be by winning the division title or maybe
sneaking in on a wild card. If it's one of
these juggernauts, doesn't figure it out. I mean if the
Atlanta Braves seems like they're starting to figure it out
at this point. But I think we can bank on

(01:01:28):
this pitching staff, even with an injury or two that's
going to come throughout the season. There's enough depth in
the organization that they're going to pitch enough. The question
is the hitting is the Gavin Lux is the Austin
Hayes is the production from the catcher position. Is that
stuff going to continue when the schedule gets harder. And again,

(01:01:48):
I don't want to sound like a hater. I'm just
very curious if that kind of production from those guys
is sustainable at this point. I mean, Gavin Lux leads
the team in batting average time for the team lead
and hits tied for the team leading extra base hits,
Austin Hayes is hitting three sixty plus, leads the team
in home runs or is tied with Elie day La Cruz.

(01:02:08):
And then that the catchers are doing what the catchers
are doing. And I think there has to be a
hack tip right to Nick Crawl for the guys he
hand picked this offseason, that the Lux is the Hayeses Travinos.
The trade for Brady singer. But I am curious that
when the schedule turns and they play the Braves soon
and the Astros soon and the Cubs soon, what it's

(01:02:29):
going to look like because on that same graphic that
I talked about with the Reds, you know, the Cubs
haven't played a team this year with a losing record,
and they're.

Speaker 10 (01:02:39):
Leading the division.

Speaker 19 (01:02:40):
So the series against the Rockies and the series against
the Marlins, those are coming for the Chicago Cubs. And
at the red best pass to making the playoffs is
to winning the NL Central, and I do believe that's
probably accurate for this team. I think it has to
come with even though the five wins in a row
and the winning record good on them, I think there

(01:03:00):
has to be just a little bit of caution to
see them do it when they play the better teams.

Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
Your confidence from the highest confidence you have to the
least confidence you have in a player. Jamer Candelario, Spencer steer,
Matt McLain right.

Speaker 19 (01:03:12):
Now, Matt mcclan spencer steer, Jamer Candelario.

Speaker 10 (01:03:16):
Okay, that's pretty easy.

Speaker 19 (01:03:18):
That's pretty easy.

Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
At at what point would you be more concerned with McClain.
He's a little bit over seventy at bats right now.
I know he missed a ton of time, But at
what point would it get to a certain point where
you would say, Okay, maybe I am starting to get concerned,
or maybe you at least look and moving him down
the order a little bit.

Speaker 19 (01:03:35):
I don't know if I'm ever going to get there.
I don't want to be on the wrong side of
history with Matt McLain. I'll maintain sitting here no matter
what his batting average is, that when he's in the
batter's box, I expect damage from him more than anybody
on the team, even right now when he's not going well,
and maybe la David Cruz and the adjustments we've seen
to him and be these half swing hits and him

(01:03:57):
grounding a ball down the third base line. So exciting
for the Red fan base and the Reds organization to
see the adjustments he made to getting on base and
into being a harder out this season. But but Matt
McClain is a guy that I will never have concerns with.
I'm seeing signs of Spencer Steer hitting the ball better.

(01:04:19):
His mechanics do look better. Uh, Jamer Candelario, I'm just
almost all the way out on the money would say,
You're probably not going to be able to do that
considering what they owe him. But as of now, I'm
just out on Candelario being an everyday guy or a
guy they rely on. So I would go McLain Steer

(01:04:40):
and then a big golf and then Jamer Candelario.

Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
How do you expect the roster to shake out when
Tyler Stevenson does come back? That what you just said,
Candelario is not going anywhere.

Speaker 19 (01:04:53):
Yeah, that's a really hard thing to figure out for
this team. I don't know, and that's coming. That's gonna
be a hard decision here. And what what do they
call those champagne problems?

Speaker 9 (01:05:04):
Is that?

Speaker 19 (01:05:05):
What was that Taylor at Duke Top says this offseason
the champagne problems?

Speaker 17 (01:05:09):
Uh, I don't know.

Speaker 19 (01:05:11):
Austin. I have a hard time believing this team carries
three catchers. Uh so I would think it would be
Jose Travigno and Tyler Stevenson. And we'll see what happens
with Austin wins. Even though he's Austin, all he does
is wins. Nice is still outstanding by you That that
to me would be the likely scenario. Of what happened.

(01:05:33):
But you know that's that's still several days away and
something could pop up with you know, a Freely going
on the injured list or with his squad and what's
happening with him or or somebody else might have to
go down for a week or two. So, uh, that's
to be determined. But a good problem to have that
the Reds have to make hard decisions here in late
April and early May.

Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
Joe, you're the best before I let you go. Seth
Rollins has teamed up with Paul Hayman Brown Breakers now
member of that faction as well. Where do you stand
on on where Paul Hayman is aligned and what's next
for him?

Speaker 19 (01:06:08):
Three of my favorites Paul Hayman, Seth Rollins, and bron Breaker.
And if we're going to do one hundred men versus Gorilla,
give me one hundred bron Bra Yes.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Yep, then I feel I feel more confident.

Speaker 19 (01:06:21):
Feel pretty good about that. Give me Prime brock Lesner,
give me Prime bron Breaker, give me one hundred of
WWE's best, and I think that Gorilla is going down.

Speaker 10 (01:06:31):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:32):
Did you like the WWE contingent at the NFL Draft
making some picks.

Speaker 19 (01:06:37):
I did wait when Seth Rollins was on TV, I
had to stop what I was doing. How can you
not just be entertained by everything that is Seth Rolins. So, yeah,
he's the one that caught my eye the most. Certainly
always the fashion and certainly the belt was was was
shining bright in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I love that follows.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
I do have one more question. Should we be worried
about Bill Belichick's well being?

Speaker 19 (01:07:05):
Yes, yes, this thing's about the blow up. Doesn't it
feel like have you.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Ever experienced so you're trying to interview someone?

Speaker 19 (01:07:17):
Yeah, nothing did that extend. There have been people on
the side who said such and such person is not
answering that question. But that person came with a little
more cachet than then what Bill Belichick's girlfriend is doing
that That whole thing, Uh just felt really slimy during

(01:07:38):
that interview, And I really wonder why they agree to
do that interview and risks exposing themselves the way they did.
Uh that that's not going to be a good ending.
I think that's going to hit ahead here in the
next month or two.

Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
Certainly feels like it's it's coming to that. Joe Daneman,
You're the best. What's next?

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
What's uh? What's what's going on with h with the
thought that you can share with us.

Speaker 19 (01:08:02):
The Cincinnati Reds are on Fox nineteen tonight. Wow, wet
back ball back on local TV. We're doing this nine
times this year, nine different Tuesdays throughout the year. This
is our first simulcast. To night is still Sadak and
Markin and Gaden's Law and Jim Day, all the guys,
Sam LeCure, but we're simulcasting. It's gonna be on Fox

(01:08:25):
nineteen tonight. So pray for no rain over the ballpark
and we get Tuesdays. Look, we're trying to make Tuesdays
cool again.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Right, Yeah? Thanks, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 19 (01:08:37):
There, we go married up, married up, and we'll make
a will make a Sincy three sixty nights on a
Tuesday night as well. I'll be there for it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
I actually have another question you might not be able
to answer this. Do you think that eventually the future
of watching sports will be kind of in like the
Apple TV model where you get to choose what audio
you listen to?

Speaker 19 (01:09:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (01:09:03):
I do.

Speaker 19 (01:09:04):
I do think that I haven't thought about it that
specifically about choosing which audio. But I do think sports
are going to kind of be an a la carte
app choosing as we go forward, we'll see. I still
think there's enough people in the generation of mine and
older that that are so used to finding sports on

(01:09:27):
on the TNTs or or the fan duels or the ESPN,
that that it's going to be hard to phase us out.
But but I think your younger generation might get to
the point here in a couple of decades where it's
a la carte on streaming services.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Danaman, You're the best. Thanks Joe Man.

Speaker 19 (01:09:49):
See you boys.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
Yeah, yeah, yes so, Dan Fox nineteen talk Backs Now Boy,
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Day thanks to Cinti Shirts,
Now your chance.

Speaker 10 (01:10:03):
Your window at ESPN fifteen thirty, dot Com.

Speaker 3 (01:10:12):
Top Backs, come on, Yes Talkbacks. Thank you to our

(01:10:37):
friends at CINCI Shirts. Best talkback of the week will
win a Cincy Shirts gift card.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
Let's get to him.

Speaker 22 (01:10:44):
Hey, guys, you and College Hill, you're really excited about
this Red team. It's great to have winning baseball in
Cincinnati going into the summer. It just makes the whole
vibe different in the city. And Tito seems like he's
got the team really bought in with him. I know
we had that rough five game stretch there, but the
pitching has stayed consistent. I got more pitchers coming off
injured reserve soon. Amelia Pagan in the closing role.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
I love it.

Speaker 22 (01:11:03):
He's on pace for almost forty five saves. Gavin Lux
has been a revelation, keeps hitting on pace for seventy
eight RBIs Martinez pitched awesome last night. A has a
good Cardinals team, and I love Martech.

Speaker 17 (01:11:14):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:11:14):
The good news is Austin. As Rob Dibble told us
that it usually takes about fifty games for a manager
to really get a feel of the team. This game
is not thirty games. Its team's not yet thirty games
in and starting to find it a little early.

Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
That's a good thing.

Speaker 23 (01:11:27):
No, Tim, Tony and Austin all more than is Austin Silberton.
I've listened to talked backs yesterday talking about conspiracies. I
don't really deal with that kind of stuff. I kind
of deal with just fax. You know that's reality.

Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Yeah, I speed a couple of facts for you guys.

Speaker 23 (01:11:41):
Is Balding and easy never wins the big one, and
Jack in North College Hill, going over forward and slo
pitch softball.

Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
I mean, what are we doing? Yikes? Did he strike out?
My cousin Josh has been known to strike out and
slow pitch. There's nothing worse than a slow pitch strike.

Speaker 24 (01:11:57):
Jephan Ner Richmond, Happy Tuesday, Sea Tony first of all,
wanted to say congrats on finally getting down to your
first f C game.

Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 24 (01:12:06):
Uh, it's a great atmosphere. I'm glad you guys really
enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Uh as far as Nick Martinez.

Speaker 24 (01:12:13):
And the Reds got to give him as flowers and
had a real good night last night. Matt McClain got
a hit that was positive to see. Hopefully Brady keeps
it rolling tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
A tip of the old ball cap to Nick Martinez again.
I turned that down barnstyle.

Speaker 25 (01:12:34):
If I heard that he had a nickname of Pigole
given to him, ma'am Trowder and I kind of I
ain't gonna they don't do a job j Burrow being
a pickle back there in a bogging and begging and nicknames.
I want to throw a few more out there, a
middle naguage or something another. And how about Dalen and
a van down about the rivers and pot all broke.

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
All right, man, I miss that. So with Jalen in
a van down by the Rue, Dylan Fairchild aka Pickle.
Yeah that's his nickname. Yeah I like that. Yeah.

Speaker 26 (01:13:07):
Hey it's God Happy Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 17 (01:13:10):
Yeah it's fun.

Speaker 19 (01:13:12):
We get to talk about the Reds winning.

Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Thank you guy, Thanks Lord, thank you.

Speaker 27 (01:13:19):
From the Ucy Health Traffic Center, we're currently hiring medical
assistants the clean bedpads and shake furn's out of bed sheets,
speaking of soil sheets, avoid bearing way as they're still
cleaning up multiple accidents from over the weekend. Expect major
delays impossible closures on the roads to Santa Clara, and

(01:13:40):
there are multiple projects along the way that Taylor recommends
taking two seventy five and staying on that.

Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
I'm Eddie's Ellick. What gosh, man, Eddie, you nailed it. Man,
you nailed it. I gotta start sending these to Eddie
Zellick nailed I kill here and.

Speaker 12 (01:14:01):
What This talk box is brought to you by Skyline Chili.
Peggy and I start out every day with a Naice
three way, and well so should you. Tony. Thanks for
shouting out the game. Experience at TQL for FC yesterday.
I've yet to make it to a game at TQL.
I've got to get down there. Made it to one

(01:14:21):
back when they were at Nippert. I also shout out
to UC Baseball, went down there last week.

Speaker 18 (01:14:26):
Fun.

Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Yes, that's fun. Been to UC Baseball and you got
to get down to the FC matches. Those are fun
as well.

Speaker 10 (01:14:34):
I tell you.

Speaker 28 (01:14:35):
Moving forward, I think the ceilings high for the Reds.
My Astros won seven to last ten, so there's hope
for them. So I'll tell you the draft. I like
the last couple of picks a lot. I'd like to
have gotten Tate Rattlin's second round. Yeah, and I worry

(01:14:56):
about their safety situation. What happened at the start of
that talk back is what I was concerned with.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Sounds like you trying to scratch your throat. It's like
me trying to get up.

Speaker 29 (01:15:10):
Okay, let's go ahead and mark it down. Tito, Well,
you know you had Sparky Anderson, but Tito might be
the best manager we've ever had. You know, he got Sparky,
you got Lou and then Tito. But Tito is He's funny.

(01:15:31):
His wit is like right on top of situations, and
he's very informational. When you win five in a row,
it's easier to get that that humor route. I would
put Dusty Baker ahead of him for now, you know.
I mean Dusty obviously accomplished a lot.

Speaker 30 (01:15:52):
Tony Ray from Lee quick question. I listened a lot,
but I might have missed when you said it. What
do you say has happened to Matt McLean? Is it
his shoulder? I don't know, or what's happened? Don't know
that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
I think he's just going through a slump right now.
I don't think he has his timing down, and I
think he's being pitched to a little bit differently and
he has to make an adjustment.

Speaker 31 (01:16:17):
Tony Austin Jorgison Valley Jorthan's not much better than sitting
on the patio with a file at and a couple
of glasses of wine watching the Reds.

Speaker 2 (01:16:26):
You know, when they were up three to one, I
felt like that I just knew that they were gonna win.

Speaker 17 (01:16:29):
It was I don't usually.

Speaker 31 (01:16:31):
Feel that way. I usually feel like I especially against
the Cardinals. It was awesome to watch. Hey, Austin, thanks
for putting him in his place Mark Mark, you're an idiot.
If I could listen to you talk one more time,
you do not make manager ry decisions. It's so hard
to listen to you talk. Man, So you're the idiot.

Speaker 9 (01:16:45):
Just remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
Okay, the name calling, we could chill out on. We
don't need to call people idiots. I've made that mistake
in the past. We don't need to do that. Terry
doesn't need to test the lineup right now.

Speaker 32 (01:16:57):
I mean, we've got the third best offense in the
league and the second highrendifferential guys like Matt McLean. They're
playing through injuries and coming back from injuries, so they'll
figure it out. But as far as not noticing the
Reds defensive efficiency, it's because of all the Eli's I
mean errors that Ellie has committed. You know, he's on
pace for thirty three right now, which would be four

(01:17:20):
more errors than Barry Larkin's season high.

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
He's gotten better last week or so, but yeah, it's
a that's the consistency I've been asking for. Ellie has
played better defensively as a whole.

Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
He's played better the last week or so, coming off
that terrible series at home.

Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Yeah, so if he cleans that up and nip some
of those in the butt. I think we'll be all right.

Speaker 23 (01:17:43):
Wake up, babe, brand new Chad Brindle fighting people on
Twitter just dropped.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Oh boy, who's what's he fighting about? This one? I
didn't see it.

Speaker 14 (01:17:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
I don't know that he's ever gonna graduate from being
muted this time. It's just too much. Yeah, I missed this.

Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
One, you buddy, the junk back cowboy. I was thinking
your best starting line up would be of impressions on
the Tunkman.

Speaker 33 (01:18:09):
I like rfk Man, Harry Carey, it is Zenich, Ronnie Rapping,
Ronnie Shannon Sharp, Zack Taylor, Hank Hell, Bill Welton.

Speaker 2 (01:18:23):
Have got room for one more?

Speaker 9 (01:18:26):
Here?

Speaker 5 (01:18:26):
Should have been boys, oh Man.

Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Like Lou Holtz. Lou always brings it. Yeah, yeah, that's
a that's a good list. Yeah, I would add Lou
Holtz to it. Sween and I like Tim Kirchen. Yeah,
he's good. Repping Natty out here, Sonny hot?

Speaker 34 (01:18:45):
What up?

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Tonny?

Speaker 8 (01:18:46):
What up?

Speaker 10 (01:18:46):
Body?

Speaker 25 (01:18:47):
Fire Winks ron get the sixth gut singer in the mound?

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Man, what a deal with a steal?

Speaker 26 (01:18:54):
And?

Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
I never thought the Royals and Yankees will help the
rids out with these types of players. This is what
I'm enjoying. Bullpen last night was fired. Seven pitches. Man
caught that bullpenned to eight team. That's skiddy. I mean,
after the Reds gave Luke Weaver to the Yankees, we
were doing to get something in return, old dream dream

(01:19:14):
Weaver Man. That taking one gorilla.

Speaker 19 (01:19:19):
Unless those are Dan Skillings.

Speaker 2 (01:19:22):
Oh good, Dan Skilling, issues with dancing Dan Skilling.

Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
You know, Dan's probably down there at Baylor enjoying making
a couple of tiktoks right now, and he gets an
absolute stray bullet today.

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Unbelievable. He didn't have to worry about income tax there,
Oh he doesn't. You don't have to worry about whatever
income he's He's good.

Speaker 30 (01:19:47):
Start thinking about extending Austin Hayes getting on an early
before wait until the.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
End of the season. They could try, but I'm sure
Austin Hayes would rather wait. I take Tuesday.

Speaker 26 (01:20:00):
The Bengals offensive line will be the best offensive line
that they have had since Joe Burrow has been behind Saan.

Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
Okay, all right, write that down. I mean you're not
going on a huge limbs, not a huge it's a
pretty low bar, but not the hottest of takes.

Speaker 9 (01:20:19):
I like that.

Speaker 35 (01:20:21):
So I may have misunderstood you were asking, Joe, but
I thought you were asking about choosing which audio you
wanted while watching the game. And last year I was
stuck using a VPN and MLB at bat And the
best thing about that is you were able to watch
the game and then listen to the radio broadcast at

(01:20:41):
the same time. That's what I'm talking So they're like
painting a picture of whatever you're seeing it. It's pretty
cool that way.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
That's what I'm talking about. That's how I prefer to
watch it. Like I like when when I get the
Reds on MLBtv or whatever, and I can choose to
sync up the radio broadcast with the same thing with
Apple TV. You can listen to ESPN fifteen thirty on
Apple TV while watching FC Cincinnati. It's the best thing ever.

(01:21:07):
And I think that that's like the future based on
the way MLBtv does it the way Apple TV does it.
I don't know if it'll ever be the future for
leagues like the NFL, but for the NBA, Major League Baseball, NHL,
where there are rsns regional sports networks, it feels like
it's certainly possible, but I do I'm with you. I

(01:21:28):
don't feel like that creeps into the NFL. No, the NFL.
I don't think whatever ill to touch it. But I
do think it's a possibility with the home team radio
calls and stuff like that, Like we see that a
little bit on the National Championship in college football. They'll
have different they'll put it on all the different ESPN channels.
You have the home broadcast, the away broadcast, utandalone. I

(01:21:53):
just wonder if in the future that's a thing more
consistently across the board, can we go ahead and just
start calling Mark the florist.

Speaker 34 (01:22:02):
Yeah, he just is requesting flowers, flowers all day, and
today he asked for a double share of flowers, and
that he's been watching baseball, he says, since the seventies,
and he still doesn't know about baseball.

Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
Yeah, yeah, it's the floorist.

Speaker 9 (01:22:18):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
Imagine if if all we wanted to do all day
was talk about the times we were right, we wouldn't
be able to do a show collect a lot of flowers.
We'd be collecting flowers all day.

Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
Five.

Speaker 35 (01:22:36):
Five games, five game wind streets for the fcc H
five five dollars foot long.

Speaker 2 (01:22:46):
That's what he's going for. That's good. That's a combined
ten from FC Cincinnati and the Reds. Wow, you have
to put the win on Okay, individually.

Speaker 12 (01:22:55):
Going back to what Nibble said, I think Frank ConA
is starting to get his feel he watch out, we
might be dangerous. And I'm on that scoptimism. And ever
since Scott turned around, you know, you gotta give it
to them.

Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
Scott changed things for this club.

Speaker 36 (01:23:14):
Austin Donius Mike from how you doing what a dog?

Speaker 9 (01:23:17):
Oh man?

Speaker 36 (01:23:18):
Rest in peace? Harambe, Dude, we do not want to
take on a gorilla if it's just hand on handed first,
I don't want to think about this, but imagine a
gorilla would just take someone's head, rip it off, throw
it at the other guys. That's it would be ridiculous,
ridiculous And eventually, if the gorilla actually lost, we killed

(01:23:39):
another gorilla.

Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Yeah, this is this is the un and the Yang.
Here the balance you have to deal with if we
kill another gorilla. I mean, things have completely fallen off
since Harambe passed away. Yeah, think about that when you
think of the world events that have taken place after
the death of Harambe. The world was. The world changed

(01:24:02):
that day and it's not going back. Yeah. But if
you're one of these take down another gorilla.

Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
But if you're in those ninety nine other men and
you see someone's head rolling to you, yeah, that's got
to cause something to change.

Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
You think turn and burn baby.

Speaker 37 (01:24:21):
Happy Wednesday, guys. If I'm not mistaken. In the Zach
Taylor era, I think we've went to the free agency
pool for a safety almost every single year. So I
think we followed that trend again this year and we
go get Justin Simmons. He's publicly stated that he wanted
to be a Bengal in an interview, and he's been
an all pro guy before, so proven that to add
to this room, and I think that's how they addressed

(01:24:43):
the safety spot.

Speaker 2 (01:24:45):
I know what I would be in favor of that.

Speaker 3 (01:24:46):
Very well done, talk back, articulate, great point, and I
would be all in for Justin Simmons.

Speaker 10 (01:24:55):
Let's put this out there in the universe.

Speaker 7 (01:24:59):
Trade Trey Hendrickson to Detroit for that guard for Rutledge
and uh, let's just put that out there. I know
that they were probably I think they're looking for some
pass rush help up there, So let's trade for Rutledge
and make it happen.

Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
Why would the trade for the guy you just passed
on in the dround. You always have to ask before
you come up with a trade idea. Why would the
other team do it? Why would the team trade a
guy that they're gonna have on a rookie contract for
the next four years for a dude that wants seventy
million dollars and is thirty one years old? Yeah? Why?

Speaker 38 (01:25:35):
Hello?

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
Hello, this is Evan, Heyvan. Yeah, Dale, I just it
just dawned on me that that coin flip thing was
never really resolved. No, I mean, you know, let it go.
And I'm such an idiot. I I thought the draft

(01:26:01):
was this Thursday. Yeah, heaven, we tried to tell you.

Speaker 10 (01:26:06):
No.

Speaker 7 (01:26:08):
Add up all of Elie's errors and all of the
plays that only Ela could make, and I think the
ones only La could make win out.

Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
Good boy. I think right now, I wonder if I
can pull this up really quickly. His outs above average
or defensive saved, run saved or whatever it might be.
He's still minus three, so he's having a bad season
defensively by those metrics. But it's still very early. Well,

(01:26:41):
hello Pickle, what's the deal anyway?

Speaker 39 (01:26:44):
You boys, Congratulations on getting the shooter Sanders prediction right.
I mean, I didn't go exactly the way you probably
thought it would, but he ended up in Cleveland, so
you should take that as a win.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
Got a text here for our guys, Flowers, our guy
Dave Abbott, who was all over the IT side of
things for us. You're an excellent engineer, he said. He
did the Yankees and the Red Sox in London for
ESPN Radio, and they gave out radios at the ballpark
and the presets had the home radio, visiting radio, and

(01:27:20):
national radio so fans could listen, which is pretty cool.
I thought he was going to weigh in on maybe
Aaron Judges spot in the lineup. Uh No, I don't
think he's going to. I would love to hear what
he thinks about one hundred men versus a gorilla.

Speaker 38 (01:27:38):
There's only two moves with the gorilla. I mean, the
main one, you gotta gouage its eyes out. Everybody should
be going after its eyes true. And the other one
prostate check if he does bite your friend, prostate check immediately.

Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
Those are the only two moves. You know, I saw
a video over the weekend that left me scarred, much
like a head rolling towards me would. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:28:00):
It was.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
A dog attacking another dog at a dog park, and
in an effort to get one dog off of the other,
one of the owners performed multiple of those checks and
it didn't work. Avail to no, avail man, there's something
seared in my.

Speaker 40 (01:28:22):
Memory, set Sun.

Speaker 27 (01:28:26):
I'll tell you this Evan from Evendale.

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
He is an idiot. I could confirm it.

Speaker 10 (01:28:31):
He's an idiot.

Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
Couldn't even talk back seven. This guy's like Frank Kelly
and though Gosh's talking to himself with Brady, give us
a tune.

Speaker 41 (01:28:42):
Singer on the Mountain night, come on seven strong, two runs,
one walk, eight strikeouts, the Reds get the w Let's get.

Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
Me up and sign me up. Do you remember Brady
Singer's last name? Tony no songwriter, Tony Austin. It's old
man grumpy.

Speaker 42 (01:29:04):
And what amazes me is all the pro personnel directors
in the Cincinnati listening off audience. It's amazing how many
guys say this guy should have been drafted in the
third round, or well, what a waste of a pick
of that guy. You know it's a D minus draft,
all the nonsense. No one knows for two or three
years how the draft is going to pan out. I

(01:29:25):
wish them all luck and I yeah, I hope the guards.

Speaker 2 (01:29:29):
Yeah, thanks, Grump. You're right, old man, Grumpy.

Speaker 21 (01:29:32):
If you're talking about giving love for people who do impersonations,
how about giving some love to Kevin from Northern Kentucky
for his horror from sling Blade imitation.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
It's true impersonation, one of the that's true, one of
the ogs. Kevin like sling Blade. Austin.

Speaker 13 (01:29:53):
I thought you screened these talkbacks before they come out.
Trade Trey Hendrickson for Go play Madden, man, Go play,
Go play out your little scenarios on Madden, and feel
better about your decisions on what nfl GM should do.

Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
Jesus, oh, he got nothing to do with it, all right,
we'll play feisty feisty to dad like this.

Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
It's only Tuesday. We gotta get a break. Ominous skies
outside Florist, Florence. Ominous skies outside the ken Wood studio
right now.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Florist. Bad day for flower shops since changes thing in
our system.

Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
To the Florist ESPN fifteen thirty Flowers Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 40 (01:30:44):
In ESPN fifteen thirty Miami University. Meet your New Bengals.

Speaker 34 (01:30:50):
The Cincinnati Bengals select.

Speaker 40 (01:30:52):
Where Today's students become Tomorrow's Leaders, presented by Skyline, Chili Centin,
Natty Drywall and e Door in Window. Now Here's Moegger.

Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
With their first round.

Speaker 14 (01:31:05):
Pick in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft, the Bengals
selected Texas A and M edge rusher Shamar Stewart. Stewart
was a third team All SEC performer for the Aggies
last season. At six feet five inches tall and two
hundred and sixty seven pounds, he absolutely looks the part
and there's no questioning his raw physical traits. At the
NFL scouting combine, Stuart ran a four point five to

(01:31:26):
nine forty yard dash, He had a forty inch vertical
and a ten feet eleven inches broad jump. Athletically, Stuart
has tons of upside. The question is about his lack
of production in college, where Stuart had just one and
a half sacks last season and just four and a
half across thirty seven games in three seasons at Texas.

Speaker 43 (01:31:45):
A and M.

Speaker 14 (01:31:45):
Evaluators will point out that the film shows a more
disruptive player than the sack totals will indicate, and they'll
mention that he led his team in pressures last season
with thirty nine. Still, the Bengals need better production from
a player they're counting on to help improve their pass
rush to no New Bengals defensive end Shamar Stuart.

Speaker 40 (01:32:03):
Mo has more on ESPN fifteen thirty, The official home
of the Bengals.

Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
From the Stacey Sincy three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati's sports station, Were Trail.

Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
I can't walk.

Speaker 3 (01:32:29):
Welcome back since he three to sixty thanks to since
he's shirts. Just a minute here before we get to
our number three, it's time for today's Postman Law injury
report delivered by Postman Law. Injured Postman delivers mentioned Tyler
Glass Now. Yesterday he was placed on the fifteen day
il for the Dodgers with right shoulder inflammation. From a

(01:32:50):
red standpoint, everything from yesterday pretty much remains the same
for today. Ian Jabou is on the fifteen day injured list.
It is of note Jake Freley was scratched from yesterday's lineup.
That was a ball that I took off the leg.
According to Terry Francona mentioned cees is hitting off a

(01:33:12):
t Wade Miley groin injury. Tyler Stevenson will be reevaluated
at the end of this week. For what it's worth,
as it pertains to Tyler Stevenson, Red's released this about
thirty minutes ago. The backstop by the Numbers, Jose Travino
and Austin wins rankings among Major League Baseball catchers. Their

(01:33:36):
combined batting average of three point fifty nine. First, they're
one point zero zero eight ops first, on base percentage
of four to ten, second thirty three hits first, five
ninety eight slugging. That's good for third. That's pretty good
from the catcher position. Austin, that's not bad from what
the Reds have at the backstop. That is our Postman

(01:33:59):
Law Injury Report for today, delivered by Postman Law Injured
Call eight four to four. Postman. We've got Bengals to
discuss and more. As we get to our number three,
we'll kick things off with some Zach Taylor audio from
earlier this morning with Tom Brenneman. That's next on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to Cincy Shirts.

Speaker 1 (01:34:20):

Speaker 1 (01:34:37):
This is ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:34:44):
Welcome back. Our three is here thanks to Penn Station.
Thank you for joining us since he three sixties on
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Let's get started here
in our number three with some Cincinnati Bengals conversation that
got started earlier this morning because the head coach of
the Cincinnati Bengals joined Tom Brenneman on WLW earlier this morning. Austin,

(01:35:08):
I believe we have a couple of minutes of what
Zach Taylor.

Speaker 2 (01:35:10):
Had to say we do. It starts with Tom's question.

Speaker 16 (01:35:14):
You made the comment, Coach Taylor that you felt after
this draft that the Bengals are a better team.

Speaker 2 (01:35:21):
Why we added some great.

Speaker 44 (01:35:23):
Men to our locker room and some great football players.
So these are guys that our coaches and scouts were
really fired up about, regardless of round we were going
to get him in. These are guys that we wanted
in our building.

Speaker 43 (01:35:35):
We thought I could help us on the field.

Speaker 44 (01:35:37):
Could help us in the All corners of our locker
room three to six were captains. Five of the six
of these guys never transferred schools in this day and age,
you know, which is extremely rare. And the one that
we did was Demetrius Knight, who has a wife and
two kids and was trying to support him. So they
all got unique stories and I think they fit us
all really well.

Speaker 16 (01:35:55):
You made the comment recently that maybe you're changing your
mind a little bit about the preseason and training camp.
Can you give us some insight on what you might
be thinking in that regard.

Speaker 44 (01:36:07):
Well, you know, we haven't started fast enough in previous years,
and so just getting our guys more time, especially in
the preseason games. And there's been reasons why they haven't
done that. You know, Burrow's gone through some injuries in
years past, and so not playing your quarterback, maybe you're
not playing your left tackle and so forth, and so
we want to get in training camp, get healthy, get

(01:36:29):
our guys an opportunity to get on the field, and
we create that chemistry that game. My atmosphere where there's
no coaches out there, get them more reps. And so
I think that those are some things that we've never
been opposed to in the pass it just hasn't worked
out that way necessarily, and we're eager to get that
done this year.

Speaker 16 (01:36:44):
On the defensive side, the Henderson situation, I know that
everybody's just hoping he has a year left on his contract.
Whether or not he gets an extension, that remains to
be seen. That's not your job, that's not my job.
That's for others. But the bottom line is he is
a huge part of his team. He's in the team's
best defender. I think we all could agree the last
couple of years the defense was not where you had expected.

Speaker 2 (01:37:07):
It to be. You've made a change at coordinator.

Speaker 16 (01:37:10):
How has the even though Al Golden was here before,
how has that whole transition been for the new guys
on the defensive side, specifically the coaching staff coming in.

Speaker 44 (01:37:20):
Sure, so we you know, we kept a couple of
the coaches, brought in some new ones, just fresh perspective
on everything, you know, and so there will be some carryover,
there'll be some brand new things. And really excited about
the coaches to get their hands.

Speaker 43 (01:37:32):
On these players.

Speaker 44 (01:37:33):
We haven't quite done that yet. You know, the players
have gotten in the building last week to start lifting
and running. Next Monday is when we start with the
meetings and get on the field and get to really
coach these guys. And I know the players are really
eager for all of this, the coaches are really eager
for all this. So I'm excited to see how it
all meshes. But got a ton of confidence in Al
Golden and the staff that we've put.

Speaker 43 (01:37:53):
Together over there, and expect really good things from our defense.

Speaker 16 (01:37:57):
What does Zach Taylor do better or know better now
than Zach Taylor who took over this franchise five years ago.

Speaker 44 (01:38:05):
How to empower the coaching staff? And you know, I
think we've hired really great men that work here. Some
of them have been here a long time, some of
them are new.

Speaker 43 (01:38:14):
And they're all hired for a reason and empower them.

Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
To do their jobs.

Speaker 43 (01:38:18):
And I've got a ton of trust in them.

Speaker 44 (01:38:20):
And then and then just picking the right moments to
listen to the players.

Speaker 43 (01:38:22):
Who to listen to when to listen to them. You know,
I think when you come in, you don't you don't
know the players very well.

Speaker 44 (01:38:28):
Now seven years in, we've likely drafted almost all of
these players or spent a lot of time and researching
him to bring them in as pre agents, and so
really know them really well and who to ask when
and what information is really helpful to make us a
better football team.

Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
All right, That is a little bit of Zach Taylor
from earlier today.

Speaker 14 (01:38:46):
One.

Speaker 3 (01:38:46):
I thought those were excellent presenting questions there from from
Tom and just understanding how Zach has grown, you know,
as as a coach and getting through to these guys.
I thought that the first response to me was the
most interesting of the draft picks and locker room guys
and how many of those players were captains. But I

(01:39:10):
thought it was even more interesting talking about five out
of the six did not transfer in their time in college.
And I thought this was interesting because leading into the draft,
we didn't get a chance to talk about it because
it was on draft day once we had already gotten
off the air. But I was watching the lead up
to the draft and Nick Saban was actually on college

(01:39:31):
game day talking about the development of prospects. And this
comes on the heels of in what my opinion, Duke
Tobin mentioned it, and it maybe wasn't one of the
leading talking points, so we didn't talk about it much,
but Duke Tobin had mentioned it. Bigger draft boards and
in today's nil world of college football, players are staying

(01:39:54):
in college longer, which on the back end means that
a lot of these guys from a production standpoint, more draftable.
A lot of these guys are more NFL ready Week one,
so that's more personnel to be added to your draft board.
What I think is is interesting is what Nick Saban

(01:40:18):
had to say, because we talked about Jay Glazier and
talked about the concerns have grown for the NFL. Injury
concerns are a question on the draft. Character concerns are
a question of the draft, and I think the Bengals
have made it a point to go after team captains
and players of that nature from a culture standpoint. But
the other one that Jay Glazier had said is do

(01:40:38):
they love football is now a talking point for some
of these prospects. And Nick Saban said in the old days,
players were more committed about creating value for their future.
So the harder you work, the more you put in,
the more value you're going to add to your future
from an NFL opportunity standpoint. Now, for so many athletes,

(01:41:03):
when things don't go their way, they lack the resiliency
that it takes. They move on and they look for
the easier path. And Nick Saban's point was for that reason,
players don't develop resiliency and they don't develop a commitment
to overcome adversity. And I think this is interesting and

(01:41:23):
it's not talked about a ton when talking about the
NIL world. There are players who don't get drafted on
night one or day two, and some on day two
that are going to be taking pay cuts coming from
college to the NFL. There are going to be players
that are no longer working towards their second contract. Remember
that's always what people talk about in the NFL, that

(01:41:45):
second contract. Some players are already on their first and
now they're getting their second. And I wonder in a
world where it's easier to just transfer than to really
batten down work, add that resiliency, add that commitment to
overcome the adversity you're going through. I wonder if that

(01:42:07):
is going to become more prevalent in scouting. Like the
Bengals had said, five out of the six had not
been transfer portal guys. I wonder if that's an evaluation
process that will happen now in the NFL, because you're
going to be getting some guys in the locker room
that have made a lot of money and that when
things got hard, they just went to the easier path.

(01:42:31):
That's not an option in the National Football League. When
things get hard, you either work harder or you don't
have a job. You don't just get to enter the
transfer portal. And I thought what Nick Saban said was impressive.
I thought it was interesting. And then to hear Zach
talk about who they highlighted and the players in which

(01:42:52):
they draft and even went out of his way to
talk about Night saying, well, the only reason he really
transferred was because he's got a family and he's looking
for the best opportunity for his wife and kids. So,
you know, I think Zach is alluding to it there
Austin just as much as that. Yes, in this process
now you do look at a guid and how many
times maybe they've transferred or jumped schools because of that

(01:43:13):
resiliency and that commitment is something that I think are
on a lot of draft boards.

Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
It's funny you say that because I was listening to
that this morning and I kind of had the opposite thought.
And maybe this is just the pessimistic side of me,
but as I was listening, I thought, oh, man, I
hope that that's not something that will prevent them from

(01:43:38):
drafting really good players in the future. That was my
first thought. I hope it's not, Hey, this player transferred
two times, so we're taking him off our board, or
we didn't like the report we got from this coach,
or whatever it might be. But that's a good argument.
What you just made I think that, you know, that

(01:43:58):
kind of brought me back to the other side of it.
I don't think you should always take a player off
your board because they transferred a couple of times. It's
a case by case basis, but we know that they
consistently try to get high character guys team captains. He
mentioned that as well, three out of the six er
team captains. Yeah, that's interesting. I like, in my opinion,

(01:44:24):
it's one thing like a coach leaves. Yeah, you're gonna
you can transfer. If there's a family issue, you transfer.
But I I can speak from personal Yeah, from a
personal standpoint here, I was molded in a way because
I had to go through bad times. I didn't have
an option. I would have probably jumped to the transfer

(01:44:45):
portal when I was at UC because I was fourth
and fifth on the depth chart. The grass was just
always going to be greener on the other side. That
wasn't an option. So my only option was to put
my head down and work my tail off to work harder. Yeah,
and again I think a guy like Knight is different
because he's got a kid, and you're supporting that thing

(01:45:10):
about Demetrious Knight. He gets to South Carolina and immediately
becomes a team captain. He was there for one year. Correct,
And maybe that's an indication of again them emphasizing the
importance of character to them and maybe an overcorrection in
a way to a couple of the misses and Jackson
Carmen and Jermaine Burton. Perhaps maybe Mike Green was never

(01:45:32):
even on their board because of stuff like that, And
maybe just a little a thing to put down here
as a potential indicator of the Bengals plans in the future,
say all right, well, hey, if this is a guy
who might be a top prospect but he's transferred three times,
is that a red flag on the Bengals board. I
think this could be something to look at from a

(01:45:54):
predictive point moving forward. But the other part of that
too is you have to consider I think if you're
the Bengals, you have to be really careful with it
in doing your research because there are guys that are
forced into the portal correct And I've said this before,
it's my least favorite thing that players show up, they

(01:46:17):
want to play for a coach, they want to play
for a school, and next thing you know, that coach
comes to him and says you need to leave. And
I think that's bs and I hate that about college
sports right now because it's it's affecting so many different sports,
not just football, all across the board. Where a player
is comfortable and wants to be somewhere and the next

(01:46:37):
thing you know, they're being told they need to go
somewhere else. I don't think that's fair and I don't
like that. And another example of that is what Deon
Sanders did at Colorado. Part of the reason why I
don't have any sympathy for Shador or Dion is because
of the way he treated kids out the door. On
their way out the door in Colorado, there are horror

(01:47:00):
stories from the way he treated those kids, And so
I hope that it is not just something where the
Bengals look at it and say, Okay, we're not going
to draft this guy. It might be another thing that
you have to do a little bit more research on.
It might be another conversation that you need to have,
another part of scouting. But I do think it could
be something that's predictive or indicative of the way that

(01:47:23):
they do things. Yeah, I do think it's a case
by case basis for sure. Can I play a clip
of audio for you here? Yes, now, don't roll your eyes.
Ryan Day was speaking today in a press conference and
he was asked about this because Ohio State lost zero
scholarship players to the transfer portal this year. Kind of amazing,

(01:47:46):
right coming off of a national championship. This is what
Ryan Day had to say in his press conference today.

Speaker 8 (01:47:53):
It's like, we want guys who want to be at
Ohio State. You know, if we have to talk you
into coming to Ohio State, if money's the first you're
looking for, this isn't the right place for you. And
if people choose Ohio State because they want to come
to Ohio State, they're more likely to stay. And so
that's just the philosophy that we've had here, you know,
for a long time, but now more than ever because

(01:48:14):
of the way things are. And I think, you know,
guys enjoy being in Ohio State. They like being here,
and so as long as they're being valued, then they're
going to stay because they know that.

Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
Thoughts, I think the last part was the most important.
As long as they feel they're being valued, I think
at the end of the day, that's what athletes want. Yeah,
I mean, I didn't think I was valued my first
couple of years that U see, Sure, and every kid's
gonna think that, But you know, I just I think
it's so much of a case by case basis, and
I think there are certain stipulations and situations. What I

(01:48:48):
do think Zach Taylor may be alluding to Austin is
the guy that transfers and then in the spring session
he transfers again because he's not already on the too
deep or something along those lines.

Speaker 2 (01:48:58):
Right, because too deep a depth chart for those Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
But the thing is, you know, when you're recruiting on
the port, you're promising things to athletes, and if that
promise isn't fulfilled right away then that it's gonna say, well,
I'm gonna go get this elsewhere. That creates a problem
because that takes away from commitment and resiliency from a
development standpoint.

Speaker 2 (01:49:18):
I thought this was interesting too. I just saw this
popped up that there were one hundred and six early
entrants for the twenty twenty five NBA draft. That is
the lower lower in ten years, which you know, I
think depending on sport, it could be really good for

(01:49:40):
the league to have stuff like that, especially basketball because
players leave after one year. Now football is a little
different because you got to go for three years. But
I thought Meron Medcalf of ESPN ESPN Radio made a
good point. He said, this is the real nil story
for college basketball. Guys know they don't have to turn
pro to make money, and they are making money comparable

(01:50:00):
to the late first round pick, so players get more
time to develop. It's a great thing for the players,
for the teams, for the coaches, and for the NBA. Yeah,
so win for all. It's went all around. It's just
amazing that it seems like there's different sets of rules
for each sport and how this era of sports in
college might help a league in the NBA, it might

(01:50:23):
hurt a league in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
I don't know, but Duke Tobin did say that you
see more NFL ready guys now coming out right, so
that does help. But again you might have to sift
through some of that other stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:50:34):
And the elite of the elite are not going to change, correct,
And I don't Wornermia Smith is going to be a
first four pick next year. But if there's a guy
like maybe the perfect example is Demetrius Knight, Like he
could have packed it up and went home after four
or five years in college, but he said, you know,
I'm gonna get one more shot at South Carolina, and
he took the step forward, got the coaching he needed.

(01:50:55):
Now he's drafted.

Speaker 3 (01:50:57):
I do think it's going to be interesting going forward
because of everything we just mentioned. We've talked about the
scouting department size for the Cincinnati Bengals. I wonder if
that changes the priority going forward because you're gonna have
to do so much more research on so many more
different guys. I think that's a fair question going forward

(01:51:18):
as it pertains to the Cincinnati Bengals. I want to
break and I want to get one more piece of
audio that we have. It pertains to the number one pick,
the seventeenth overall for the Cincinnati Bengals. Shamar Stewart received
some high praise from I think one of the best
defensive players that has has graced the NFL field, in
Luke Keigley. We're gonna hear what Luke Keigley had to

(01:51:39):
say about Shamar Stewart when we return right here in
our three Thanks to Penn Station on Cincy three to
sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:51:46):
Now search back on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:52:06):
Welcome back since he three to sixty, a service of
Penn Station on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Shamar
Stewart was the seventeenth overall pick in the twenty twenty
five NFL Draft, the first round selection for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Let me give you a couple of statistics here around
Shamar Stewart. Obviously, we know about the high ceiling from

(01:52:30):
an impact standpoint for Texas A and M. Texas A
and M last year defensively was one of the lowest
blitz rate teams in all of football, but managed the
second the twenty second ranked pressure rate. That highlights the
effectiveness of Shamar Stewart creating pressures without relying on blitzes
to do so. He has shown the ability to play

(01:52:53):
both the edge and interior defensive line positions that makes
him a versatile asset for the Bengals. His two point
four to three second from time to first pressure in
twenty twenty four was the fastest among all FBS players.
That means from the time the ball is snapped to
applying pressure on the quarterback, he was the fastest. Now,

(01:53:17):
he didn't finish. We talk about the low sack numbers,
but he did generate thirty nine pressures in twenty twenty four,
which showcased and ability to disrupt the passer on passing plays.
Those statistics combined with this high praise that I want
you to hear from NFL legend one of the best

(01:53:38):
to do it at linebacker. Here's what Luke Keigley had
to say on Jamar Stewart.

Speaker 15 (01:53:41):
What I think what he gives you is he gives
you flexibility to play inside and outside. He's got the
size in the length and the athletic ability in a
four down front to play like that. True defensive end
in the seagap or outside the tackle. He gives you
that he's got plenty of ability to do that. But
what he also does is when they win and they
switch over and they play more of a three down front,

(01:54:02):
more of a three to four, he can slide inside,
play over the top of a tackle, outside edge of
the tackle, and be physical because he has great length,
He's got explosiveness. You know, he's two hundred and seventy pounds.
Some people might say he's a little bit undersized to
be there, but what he has that's unique is explosivebility.
So if he's just going to sit there and take

(01:54:24):
on tackles, he's able to do that. But what he
is able to do is that twitchiness, that length, the
ability to get vertical and shoot gaps. It gives him
great ability to line them up outside.

Speaker 36 (01:54:34):
Great can he be outside of all these there are
all these questions about him.

Speaker 9 (01:54:37):
Stacking him up against the other guys in this draft class,
how good can he be?

Speaker 15 (01:54:40):
I think he's his ceiling for edge rushers. As a
true defensive end, I think is the best in the draft.
I kind of excluded a dual carter because he's more
of a stand up outside backer. But I think Schamar's
ceiling out of anybody in the draft is the highest
because at raw athletic ability, physicality, length, explosiveness.

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
If they can figure that out, he's gonna be a
really good player. That was Luke Keikley on up in
atoms with k Adams. You know, I think the interesting
part is obviously the high ceiling. We know the other
side of it, right. We know that he still needs
some work, We know that he still needs to develop,
but in looking at the numbers and the athleticism, if

(01:55:21):
he does figure it out, and according to at least
Luke Keigley's thought, and we've heard from others, his ceiling
is the highest out of anyone in the draft. If
you get that, you certainly change the way that Maybe
if you felt differently about the seventeenth overall pick, maybe
that changes the tune just a little bit. But add

(01:55:42):
that with some of those other statistics, you know there
is opportunity here. And I don't think anyone ever questioned
the upside Austin. Do you believe that some of the
pushback came solely on the idea of development which the
Bengals have struggled with with certain players at doing yeah,
and it's as simple as that. Now new coaches scheme,

(01:56:07):
maybe that changes that. That's the thing I think a
lot of people forgot about that. It's like, oh, yeah,
you know, or they they immediately assign the blame to
Duke Tobin because of the lack of development, when in reality,
it's on the coaches to be able to do that.

(01:56:27):
And that's why three guys lost their job because they didn't.
And I tried to make this point several times throughout
the season. You can bitch and moan all you want
about the Bengals and their ownership and Duke Tobin and whatnot.
That will not change. It won't Duke won't be fired,

(01:56:50):
Zach probably won't be fired for a long time. You
can complain about the coach again later, but ownership's not
going to change. The people in charge of the organization
are not going to change. Duke Tobin not going to change.
So then you have to find a path to find Okay,
how can you get the most out of what you
have with who you have? And that becomes the challenge.

(01:57:11):
And you know, I think the Bengals looked at it
and said, all right, we're probably not going to add
more to the scouting department. They're probably not going to
I mean, they've they've made adjustments to all those things
and they haven't gotten the results they wanted, so they
will continue to adjust. And because this organization specifically puts

(01:57:32):
the onus on coaches more than any other organization in
sports or in the NFL, at least, they then get
the blame for the lack of development. And I don't
know how on the defensive side of the ball, I
don't know how you don't look at a guy like
Marion Hobby and a guy like Louena Rumo who didn't

(01:57:52):
develop those positions with young players and resisted playing young
players a lot and put the team behind the eight ball,
and they did what he wanted a lot. The fact
that I mean they went back to Von Bell after
Vaughn had a terrible season in Carolina and he had
a terrible season here, and they went back to von

(01:58:13):
because lou didn't want to play the young guys and
didn't trust them, and that is on him.

Speaker 3 (01:58:19):
If this was about they genuinely felt like the roster
wasn't good enough, then some of those coaches would have
been retained. But again, the message that I think has
been sent by their actions is that there was a
development problem, there might have been a scheme problem, and
that they genuinely feel like the roster is in much

(01:58:41):
better shape than what maybe the national perspective is on
the Cincinnati Bengals, and their actions up to this point,
in my opinion, solidify that their option, their actions up
to this point echo everything that you can ask in
that sense, and I think that speaks volumes for itself.

(01:59:04):
Let's take a break, Let's come back. Five one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty at Cincy three sixty. Thanks for our friends
at Penn Station on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:59:12):
Say, ESPN fifteen thirty, fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
Welcome back sincey three sixty, ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station,
A service of our good friends at Penn Station. We
got a couple of minutes here and then we'll bring
in Mowagar. We got some time for a phone caller too.
What's going on, Matty?

Speaker 26 (01:59:37):
Quick question and I'm sorry at the curb mall that
you hear. But in light of the draft conversation and
the whole Shadur Sanders debacle. What does an actual draft
phone call sound like? What what has actually said when
they say, hey, Tony or hey whoever we're picking you.
Is that really the extent of it or what's what's
the conversation when you get that phone call?

Speaker 2 (01:59:57):
Yeah, it really is the extent.

Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
It's it's know, it's hey, we're we're letting you know
that we're going to turn in the card here, We're
going to put your name on it, and you're going
to be a you know, pick your choice on on
what the team is. Uh, so you're able to get
an understanding there.

Speaker 8 (02:00:11):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:00:11):
In some cases they pass you around, uh to an owner,
to a position coach, and then you you know, you
you reach back after that to to to a different
phone call that that's taken after the the draft pick
has actually turned in. But all they're doing is is
letting you know that, Hey, your your name's on the
card here and you're about to be called gotcha.

Speaker 26 (02:00:33):
So those those prank calls where semi ledd shit there
there was a cross Yeah, I mean so that's okay.

Speaker 2 (02:00:39):
Yeah, yeah, I mean a lot of teams post their
phone calls now so you can hear them. Yeah, it's
pretty cool. So yeah, I appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (02:00:46):
Matt, thank you, man, appreciate it. Uh, Mike, what's going on?

Speaker 17 (02:00:51):
Hey guys, interesting show as usual. Thanks for letting me on.
That must be a thrill, Tony though, I'm talking about that.
That must be a thrill when you get on that
phone with the whoever the organization. Yeah, that must be
goosebump city, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:01:08):
It culminates a lot of years of work and you know,
the physical, the mental and everything that it took to
get to that moment. So it is and it doesn't
matter if you slide or it's it's earlier, it's later.
When that call comes, there is a it's a sense
of really something you can't explain.

Speaker 17 (02:01:26):
So I use a bourgeois comment like goosebumps and then
you hit me with an elite culminates in a right right, Yeah,
what are you doing?

Speaker 9 (02:01:36):
This?

Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
Very rare, very rare.

Speaker 17 (02:01:39):
Yeah, well, okay, I want to get to the draft
real quick. But can't wait for that game tonight, boy,
the Clippers and the Nuggets.

Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
It's been the best series to this point. Obviously.

Speaker 3 (02:01:53):
The three other games with the chance for the home
teams all to to clinch and move it on. But yeah,
that the Clippers Nuggets has been fun.

Speaker 17 (02:02:01):
I pissed off. I got I got under most skin
over the weekend on that piston. The next game, he
read me a riot at yesterday on a ship what
I called it? Oh, he was irritated, all beyond belief. Well,
what don't you expect me to be happy?

Speaker 40 (02:02:16):
My team won?

Speaker 17 (02:02:17):
I mean, what am I supposed to do? And so
it worked. It worked, the psychological warfare work, Al Golden.
I got to say, good luck, Pal. I think Austin's
right what he said yesterday. You probably agree Tony.

Speaker 14 (02:02:30):
Very rarely, is it not?

Speaker 17 (02:02:33):
Is it fair to judge a guy his first year,
maybe even his second year. Carter was an exception to
that last year with the Eagles. You know, a couple
other guys, but but it's it's pretty rare, right, I
mean Versty with the Florida State and the Rams and
the other tackle from Florida State.

Speaker 3 (02:02:52):
It's hard to because so much has been put on.
Well that that's a lot of pressure on Al Golden.
So the pressure is already there on now Golden. So
that that's going to make it even tougher to navigate
in a sense of everyone's already kind of going into this,
watching very intently how all Golden handles things.

Speaker 17 (02:03:11):
Yeah, and I'm with you. I like that running back
out of Texas Tech. He looks like a tough little
rascal in between the tackles. Yes. Actually, but the deal.
The thing that worries me most. We're going DT DT
edge DT. The thing that worries me the most is
they're going to put all this faith in the existing
secondary that they have. It's just I think that is

(02:03:32):
really rolling the dice.

Speaker 26 (02:03:34):
Boy.

Speaker 3 (02:03:34):
Yeah, and I think Joe Daneman alluded to that today
as well of you know, if there still is an
option out there, I don't think you're solidified right now
at where the secondary is going forward to be confident.

Speaker 2 (02:03:48):
And speaking of the Bengals secondary, Tone and Mike, we
have breaking news. The Bengals are using the fifth year
option on cornerback Dax Hill. There you go. The deadline
is May first to make a decision, and the Bengals

(02:04:11):
are exercising the fifth year option on Dax Hill. That
is a basic fifth year option because he did not
have any Pro Bowls, playtime, stuff like that did not
meet all those criteria. So his basic number at the
fifth year option will be twelve point six million dollars
twelve million, six hundred and eighty two thousand to be specific.

(02:04:34):
The Bengals are picking up the fifth year option on
Dax Hill.

Speaker 17 (02:04:38):
There you go, Hey, this is unbelievable. You said it
was great when Carolina called you on air when play.

Speaker 2 (02:04:45):
Yeah, you got breaking news on you down, Mike.

Speaker 17 (02:04:47):
This is the highlight of my life, Boston, and you
left me stay on the air. I owe you, guys,
who I got to talk about boostbump so I got him.

Speaker 2 (02:04:55):
Right, walls and snot bubbles.

Speaker 43 (02:04:56):
Mike said, you got it, pal.

Speaker 17 (02:04:59):
Thanks love, guys, Thank.

Speaker 3 (02:05:00):
You, Mike, appreciate that very reaction to that. I think
it had to be done. And when when you look
at at the moves that had or had not been made,
writing was kind of there for that one for sure.
One more quick call, Brian, what's up?

Speaker 43 (02:05:17):
Hey? How's it going good?

Speaker 14 (02:05:20):
Hey?

Speaker 5 (02:05:21):
I just want to call. I I with the Bengals draft,
I share several I mean nothing. It surprises me more.
I guess you know. The Ravens get Malachi starks By,
the smartest player in the draft. Immediate need help and
now you know they will probably be. You know, that's
the reason why they're just really good, right. They prioritize

(02:05:42):
players that can help them now, especially and they know
that they're in the now that they need to win.
Instead the Bengals take a person that's like more like
a lottery ticket to boom or bust bust, then we're
set back for years again, windows closing.

Speaker 4 (02:05:57):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:05:57):
If it works out, that'd be great, and we do
need more. What spoke volumes of their draft on defense
actually more than anything with speed. They drafted to speed
because you know, we were a very slow defense last year.
But I was I was very shocked they didn't take
a safety. Geno Stone has got to be one of
the worst tackling safeties I've ever seen. And he doesn't

(02:06:19):
he doesn't look like he's even interested in it. It
takes bad angles. I would rather actually play day if
they think that much of Dejon Anthony or Tyson Anderson didn't.

Speaker 17 (02:06:29):
Have at it.

Speaker 5 (02:06:29):
Man, do you think those young players are? But I
do not want to see another year of Geno Stone
taking bad angles because he doesn't want to tackle, or
just with thin because he doesn't want to tackle. And
you know, I think that that's I would rather have
Mike Hilton come back and play a safety role, to
be honest, and I think you can do it because
he's a smart player and he tackles. But the safety position,

(02:06:51):
I think, you know, highlights the difference between why the
you know, the Ravens and the Bengals. One's consistently pretty good,
the other one it's either hit or miss, very inconsistent.
And I feel like the only reason why we are
in this tradition is because we won the lottery ticket
of beeting Joe Burrow and then a few years later
we won a lottery ticket of getting Jamar Chase, and

(02:07:11):
other than that, if we if we didn't win those
lottery tickets, we'd be just like in the Andy Dalton years,
would be kind of like, oh, you know, we can't
have competition at QB or anywhere else because these veterans
are good enough, even though they settle for mediocre and
they don't look for competition in certain spots, which has
been frustrating as Bengals fan. And the reason why the

(02:07:33):
Ravens and Steelers are consistently pretty good even though the
Steelers never have a quarterback right now, so, which is
my thoughts kind of big thing to you, guys. Sorry
about that.

Speaker 2 (02:07:42):
No, I have accomplished more than those teams in recent years.
And yeah, listen, the middling part of the NFL is
the most difficult. And there's a bunch of teams there,
teams that are in quarterback purgatory, or might financially not
be in the right spot, or are trying to make
good on a rock. There's four elite, top tier quarterbacks

(02:08:05):
in the NFL. And if you want a lottery ticket
like the Bengals did, like the Ravens did, like the
Chiefs did, like the Bills did, that you gotta make
the most of it. And he's right, like to an extent,
he's right, But also you shouldn't hold that against them
because they've also, I think, done a good job, not
a great job, and that's where the difference is true.

Speaker 3 (02:08:28):
Mowager is next Quick Hits since he three to sixty
thanks to Penn Station on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 10 (02:08:36):
Y Cincinnati make us the number one.

Speaker 1 (02:08:38):
Pre set on sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's
sports station. It's time for Cincy three sixty Quick Hits
On ESPN.

Speaker 3 (02:08:48):
Fifteen Mo's here. Hey, he's getting set for the Mowagger
shows coming up next.

Speaker 2 (02:08:54):
How are you? I'm awesome? How about you?

Speaker 43 (02:08:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 14 (02:08:59):
What an opportunity opportunity tonight? This is gonna be tough.
The toughest game to win is the fourth one, so.

Speaker 2 (02:09:07):
It's not over. You have three three of those opportunities
tonight for teams to close it out.

Speaker 6 (02:09:10):
They do.

Speaker 2 (02:09:12):
See what happens.

Speaker 14 (02:09:13):
I think Indiana is going to close out Milwaukee without
Dame uh Nix Pistons is going to be fun.

Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
Game five tonight at the Garden.

Speaker 14 (02:09:20):
Chance to close it out so they can advance and
play the Celtics and lose in five.

Speaker 2 (02:09:26):
But I understand what the ceiling is like, I get it.
But Pacers Celtics Eastern Conference Finals.

Speaker 14 (02:09:32):
Dude, I thought my hot take before the playoffs was
Indy would beat Cleveland. Did you watch the Calves last night?

Speaker 2 (02:09:39):
That one of the most impressive ever seen.

Speaker 14 (02:09:42):
I could not agree more Like Kenny Atkinson, the Calves
coach emptied his bench with four minutes to go in
the third quarter and they just kept scoring. Those are
I'm a knixt guy. Those are the best three teams
Calves Pacers is going to be a Blast. I'm aware
of what the Knicks is. Yeah, they're going to lose
in five to the Celtics. But when you had, when

(02:10:04):
you root for a team that won one playoff series
between two thousand and twenty twenty two, you take these
and run. So let's get it done tonight.

Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
What do you got coming up this afternoon?

Speaker 14 (02:10:13):
So Paul Danner Jinger is going to join us because
it's Tuesday, and he joins us every single Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (02:10:17):
He's not going to be in studio, but that really
doesn't matter to the listener.

Speaker 14 (02:10:20):
We're going to talk about the draft class and what
the draft class means for, you know, incumbent players, players
who had been here, and so we are looking forward
to that. Jordan Edwards is going to be on our
show SIS Sports Info Solutions this.

Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
You were going to say, Jordan Hudson Bill Belichick's girlfriend. No,
though I would like to talk with her. Okay, there's
a lot going on there.

Speaker 14 (02:10:40):
Are you that interested in Bill Belichick and his relationship?
I wasn't, and now I feel like that's it. I
had no interest at all until CBS Sunday Morning. Yeah,
with Jane Pauley, John Paul. Back in the day, anyway,
Jordan Edwards has nothing to do with Bill Belichick, but
he's a draft analyst because you know there's not enough

(02:11:01):
of those in the United States.

Speaker 2 (02:11:02):
Yes, need more.

Speaker 14 (02:11:03):
Uh, there is a major shortage in certain jobs. There's
been a lot of talk of the economy, like certain jobs.
We don't have enough people doing mock drafts, and we
don't have enough people who are certified draft analysts preach.
Jordan Edwards is one of them. So we're gonna talk
with him coming up at at four to twenty.

Speaker 2 (02:11:22):
Well, I'm sure you've seen this, but I gotta ask
our Fitness Systems dot Com poll question today. One hundred
men versus one gorilla. I'm taking you God taking the man.
You're taking the men taking them in sixty four percent
final results, are taking the gorilla.

Speaker 14 (02:11:37):
So I stand with you. I'm taking them in two reasons. One,
like one hundred men are going to go in. Yeah,
fewer than one hundred men are going to come out.
How do you decide who number one is?

Speaker 2 (02:11:47):
I don't know. They're gonna be casualties.

Speaker 14 (02:11:49):
Here's what the one hundred men have at their disposal
that the gorilla does not Intellect strategy, right, like the
gorilla is just gonna go with brute force. Sure, I
ain't going to count on one hundred men. Now, if
it was one hundred women to outthink the gorilla, I'm
easily taking the one hundred women.

Speaker 3 (02:12:07):
Correct, one hundred dude, you're gonna get a couple dudes
at charge right in.

Speaker 2 (02:12:10):
You're going to get like thirty five meat heads. Let
them go first.

Speaker 14 (02:12:13):
My money is on the other sixty five to figure
out a way to strategically.

Speaker 2 (02:12:17):
It's the smart beat the gorilla's smart. And what is
like what is win? Does win meet kill?

Speaker 10 (02:12:22):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:12:22):
What is what is victory over the gorilla?

Speaker 19 (02:12:25):
Mean?

Speaker 2 (02:12:25):
That's the question nobody really seems to.

Speaker 14 (02:12:28):
Know, because Taran asked me this yesterday and I go, well,
what are we trying to accomplish here?

Speaker 2 (02:12:32):
Like get it back in its cage? If success the
one hundred people survived, then that's impossible.

Speaker 14 (02:12:36):
Only so this brings to mind something really quick. Number one,
can we just get the cop who shot Harambe? Number two?
I was asked who would be your go to interview?
Who's like the bucket list interview? And I said, next
year is the tenth anniversary of Harambe. So that means
that kid is now what like going to be sixteen seventeen.
I want to talk to him. I want to talk

(02:12:57):
to him. Do you remember being in that cage? And
do you understand the international incident that you caused.

Speaker 3 (02:13:03):
And the ripple effect you've caused in Cincinnati? No doubt
about from a sports standpoint, correct, I'm just worldwide. What
do you make of this five game winning streak? Because
Noelve Marte has burst on the scene, Gavin lux has
been phenomenal, Jose Travino the catcher position in itself.

Speaker 2 (02:13:21):
What's your biggest takeaway of what the Reds are doing
right now? Whereds might be good.

Speaker 3 (02:13:25):
Feels like they're Spencer Steer, Matt McLean away from just
getting a little bit hotter, and maybe a Tyler Stevenson. Yeah,
So what do you do with the roster when he
comes back?

Speaker 2 (02:13:34):
Jamer Candelario has got to go like thirty million. You're good.

Speaker 14 (02:13:37):
They did it with Mike Mustakas, Like I give Nick Krawl,
I'll give you one. So Mike Mustakas was Dick Williams.
So Nick Krawl hasn't had a guy that he assigned
that they're going to have to eat the money. But
if you're if you're serious about using the best twenty
six guys, then Jamer Candelario has betting one thirteen.

Speaker 2 (02:13:54):
Not exactly a high ceiling guy. Now, if I'm Bob
Castellini or Phil.

Speaker 14 (02:13:58):
Castellini, I go to Nick and I go look man
and credit for Austin Hayes, Gvin Lox, Brady Singer. By
the way, Jonathan India, team leader, team leader, betting two
thirteen for the Kansas City Royals, Jose Travigno.

Speaker 2 (02:14:09):
Really good signings.

Speaker 14 (02:14:10):
Hey man, next time we go right a forty five
million dollar check, can you make sure it's for a
player better than Jamer Candelario. So we'll cut you some slack,
But you got to go with the best twenty six.
And when Tyler Stevenson comes back, Jamer Candelario is not
among the best twenty six.

Speaker 2 (02:14:25):
Look at the numbers, right, he's awful.

Speaker 10 (02:14:27):
Yes, And good for.

Speaker 14 (02:14:29):
Terry Francona and for the Reds for saying, like, dude,
he's only going to play sparingly.

Speaker 2 (02:14:34):
Now, well, the next step hees he's not on the team.

Speaker 19 (02:14:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:14:36):
I think you start to see a little bit of
progression from Spencer Steer. Yeah, I think it's about that time.
Seventy plus at bats, you gotta start seeing it from
Matt McLean. Sure, and a little bit of a flash
last night, hit a couple of balls hard. But man,
I lux has been consistent.

Speaker 2 (02:14:54):
I just say it.

Speaker 3 (02:14:54):
I think there's a lot of people that were wrong
on Marte a lot, at least on the short term.

Speaker 14 (02:14:59):
And you know, Austin said this a couple of weeks ago,
including obviously that Great American Ballpark.

Speaker 2 (02:15:04):
Correct. I think there are some people who are wrong
about him there, but like, good for that guy.

Speaker 14 (02:15:08):
Yeah, and he he did not deserve to make the
team at a spring training and the way he played
and what he did last year certainly earned him a
spot in the organization's doghouse.

Speaker 2 (02:15:20):
But he was worth not giving up on. He hits
the ball really hard, man. I like that he walked
twice last night. He did.

Speaker 14 (02:15:27):
You mentioned McClain. He does kind of save the game
with that double play in the fifth inning last night.
So you're you're still getting value with his glove.

Speaker 2 (02:15:35):
Yeah, you're not benching him, But would you move him
down in the lineup at all?

Speaker 11 (02:15:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
Yes, man, I know we don't like to talk about
lineup changing here, but uh there's that. Uh what today
is the same as we may have expected. Austin Hayes
gets the date. Freley is back in right field. Santiago
espinol in left field tonight, betting eighth for the rest tonight. Yes,
you gonna play baseball tonight, I believe so. Yes, even

(02:16:00):
with the weather. Yeah, you got a weather report. Bring
back banana phone.

Speaker 14 (02:16:04):
Everything I've checked because I've retired, let's bring back the
banana f I.

Speaker 2 (02:16:08):
Have tickets for tonight's game, so I've been reaching one
night closely. Uh and according to our friends over at
channel nine, looks like there's a window to play. There
you go, Austin. Maybe I'll see at the ballpark. Oh,
I hope I do.

Speaker 3 (02:16:21):
