Charlie Goldsmith will join us at one o'clock. Paul Fritzler
gonna talk some Xavier baseball and basketball at two o'clock

(01:08):
with us. Tommy G's on a golf course today.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
Woo.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Tommy G's on a golf course today. Tommy can't join
us today. He's on a golf course. Big news for
FC Cincinnati. Be careful in Atlanta on Sunday because Tommy's
golfing today and couldn't join us listen, Austin. I feel
like this should feel like one of our throwback Friday episodes. Okay,

(01:36):
why well, we have exhausted a lot of avenues around
the Cincinnati Bengals in the.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Last couple weeks. Right, there's a couple.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Things that we can sprinkle in today. The Reds were
off yesterday and they had a day game the day before,
so we have done a lot to recap everything that's
happened with the Reds, and we'll look ahead to this
weekend series with the Chicago Cubs and Hunter Green and
a couple other Cincinnati Reds topics. FC Cincinnati plays on Sunday,

(02:04):
so we could dive into that just a little. But
more than that, let's have some fun today. Let's enjoy
the day. It doesn't have to be all sports related.
We'll keep most of it sports related, but it's a
day to just have fun. Yeah, it's a day to
celebrate you the listener. So you could call in five, one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty if something's been weighing on you, like, Man,

(02:27):
I want to get this off my chest. I want
to talk about this, but I don't know if it's
the right time or if it's the right platform, Well
today is that platform? Today gives you the freedom to
do that. At five one, three, seven, four nine, fifteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
I'm also looking for life advice, Okay, if anybody wants
to give me some advice as I turn thirty tomorrow,
and you know, I know I'm the young cat around here.
I know that there are much older and wiser people
that listen to this show than me, that are involved
in this show than me. I'm just looking for any

(03:05):
advice you want to offer me up. I like it.
That's just I would put that out there as a
potential talkback topic as well, or you could call in
five one, three, seven, four nine, fifteen thirty.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
We will get to some of the top sports stories
in just a moment. I will say, with it being
Memorial Day weekend Austin, there is a Memorial Day three
on three basketball tournament. Oh and in lieu of our
talkback friend, Ballin Ain't Easy, I do have to announce
that the first game tomorrow of the Memorial Day three
on three tournament, we are pinned against Ballin Ain't Easy. WHOA,

(03:41):
So we are coming right out of the gate. Now
here's how the tournament works. You play three games tomorrow,
each team that will seed you for Sunday, and Sunday
becomes a single elimination day. Interesting all I have in
my mind and it's almost etched in there Austin, more
so than even winning the tournament last year. It's balling
ain't easy watching as the finals tick down, like the

(04:04):
Stefan digs. The Stefan digs. Picture that's out there. That
was Balling ain't easy. And I text my guys today
on my team, I said, listen up, boys, you better
come ready to go. Bring your mouthpiece, bring your war
paint because there's a hungry team we face out of
the gate tomorrow. And I just want to let ballin.
Know are we coming ballin?

Speaker 4 (04:26):
You know what to do? Ballin?

Speaker 3 (04:33):
You also have the phone number, oh calling I don't
want to hear from you. Hey, it's what's your mentality?
It's Kanig parking Ready tomorrow the tournament starts at noon.
Come on down watch some basketball. It's a great festival.
We'll be there all weekend. It's gonna be a lot
of fun. We'll get into more of that.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Thunder went up two to oh last night in their
series against the Minnesota timber Wolves. Right now, Austin Thunder
looked like a team destined to win the championship. I
don't know if there's anyone else that can beat them.
Four games. The Pacers Knicks game two tonight. Interesting to
see how the Knicks rebound after what happened last night
or earlier in the week. It is worth noting we

(05:09):
talked about this, but it was kind of in passing
yesterday because it had just happened Austin. But they did
vote from a college football standpoint that they are redoing
how they're going to seed college football playoff where it
is no longer just the four conferences automatically get the
top four seeds. It is now a system in place

(05:30):
in which it is the top twelve teams and that's
how you're going to be slotted, which means if you
went by this last year, Ohio State would have been
the sixth seed. They would have played Texas the three seed,
and then probably would have played Georgia, but Oregon, Georgia, Texas,

(05:51):
Penn State would have been the top four last year.
But they have looked into how they are reseeding now
the college football playoffs history was last night in Major
League Baseball. Austin, the Colorado Rockies now officially have the
worst start in Major League Baseball since eighteen ninety five.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Congratulations Rockies.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
They are eight and forty two. Austin, they are eight
and forty two. And yesterday I saw an article on
the score. Listen to this list of the highest paid
Rockies right now. Chris Bryant has played eleven games. He's

(06:36):
the highest paid Rocky. He's hitting one fifty four. Kyle Freeland,
friend of the Show, is number two. He's zero and six.
Ryan McMahon is hitting two six this year. Antonio sends
that tail as one in seven Scotne is it Jermain

(06:56):
or Hermain? Marquez?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (06:58):
One in six? Austin Gomer hasn't even played this year.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Let's go go.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
The seventh highest paid Rocky is Nolan Arnado. Ezekiel Tovar
is number eight.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
He's a beast.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Tyler Kinley has played in twenty games. He's got an
ERA north of seven. Those are the top ten highest
paid Rockies on a team that's eight and forty two.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Congrats to the Rockies. Yeah, just keep that in mind
whenever you want to complain about Cincinnati ownership man Dick
Manford exists boy.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Also Major League Baseball news. The Braves are set to
get Ronald Acunya Junior back tonight this must see TV.
He comes back Green Hunter Green comes back for the
Reds night.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Even more must see TV. And the Reds are getting sued.
I did see it? Did you see this? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Former Major League Baseball player Darren Ruff is suing the
Reds almost two years after a career ending injury at
Great American Ballpark. It was Red's Brewers twenty twenty three.
He tried to grab a foul ball and as he
does as he did so, he got caught up in

(08:06):
the netting on the first baseline before hitting the edge
of the rolled up tarp. You could see blood as
he was being taken off the field. Placed on the
sixty day injured list. Also fractured his knee cap on
the play and ultimately ended his career, he says. His
lawyer says that it was an obvious and avoidable risk.
There are basic safety protocols every team must follow. Leaving

(08:28):
an unpadded metal roller on the edge of the field
is inexcusable.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
I kind of agree with him. I know, if you
watch the video like the instant blood on his knee yep,
and obviously ended up breaking his kneecapp it doesn't happen
from hitting a brick wall or a padded or a
padded wall or a roller like he had to have
clearly made contact with the one part that you can't

(08:53):
make contact with. Sure yikes. Sure, So does this mean
we can't get a big bat at the dead Nope,
because the Reds are getting sued's gonna go to Darren Ruff.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
He is uh the lawsuitors calling for Darren Ruff to
be fully compensated for his injuries and his damages.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Darren Ruff right now is probably better than most players
on the Reds.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
Correct, even with one and a half good.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Likes Darren Ruff is I mean we always make fun
of Frank the Tank on this show. Yeah, Frank the
Tank's most hated player of all time.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
That's saying something. He's a career two thirty nine hitter.
He stinks he'd be one of the best hitters on
the Reds right now. Last night, how about this the
Indiana Fever one despite zero threes from Caitlin Clark, the
first time she hasn't hit a three in a game.
Since twenty twenty two.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Oh for five yep from three point land for Kitlyn Clark,
and I saw her give away her shoes after the game. Yeah,
she get rid of done with those. Yeah, I'll need
those anymore.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
The Memorial Tournament is back in Columbus this weekend. That's
always a fun one. Yeah, always good to see and
Scotti Scheffler is playing in it, as well as some
of the other top players in the world.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
Every single a year, I forget about the Memorial Tournament
there until the Friday of the Memorial Tournament. I'm like, oh, yeah,
that's happening.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
If you could pick a day to attend Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
which one would you do?

Speaker 4 (10:13):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
No, probably Saturday, I guess I had I had reached
out just curious on tickets, you'd be surprised. Friday is
the most sought after ticket for the Memorial. Muh FC
Cincinnati plays at Atlanta this weekend, but that game is
not tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (10:29):
That's a Sunday game. And I've never been to a
PGA event.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
They're fun.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
I mean they all they look awesome. Yeah, they are fun.
Never had that happen.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
I enjoy Uh. I've only been to two, so that's
not saying a ton, but I do enjoy a good
golf tournament. We also have this, Austin. Did you see
the story about the Rams and what they're doing for
mini camp. Yeah, they're going to like Hawaii. Yes, they
call it Maui Camp. Why not mini Camp. Well, they're

(11:00):
taking all the players, they're getting to the islands. They're
gonna bond in that way, have a mini camp, and
then head home. I'd like it. That's something different, something
cool Maui. I was looking at the Rams. I think
the Rams are going to be really good this year.
I think they are a sleepy can I don't even
know if they're a sleepy contender. They're a contender in
that NFC West. You don't really know what to make

(11:21):
of the Niners or the Cardinals or the Seahawks. Matthew
Stafford with Pukaakua, Matthew Stafford with Davante Adams and that
defense and that running game. I think the Rams are
going to be a legit contender in the NFC. But
Maui Camp they're calling it in replace of Mini Camp.
We're going to dive in today to something that Moe

(11:44):
talked about on his show yesterday, and he claims that
it's one thing in society that we can all agree on.
I have questions about his message. We'll dive into that today.
Did you see this story about this Venice s Walen,
Ohio high school player? Yes, they did, and I say

(12:05):
high school player lightly. Anthony Sierra attended Perrysburg High School
in Toledo for over a year and according to the
documents said he was a sixteen year old boy. He
also was on the JV soccer and swim team. Now
come to find out he used fraudulent documents in the

(12:27):
enrollment process. This investigation began Austin when a woman contacted
his host family claiming that Anthony was the father of
her children. Oh boy, and at age sixteen. That raised
some eyebrows. He's being held on a bond right now.
But here's the question I have. He's twenty four years old. Yeah,

(12:49):
he couldn't make the varsity squad. Yeah, twenty four years
old playing JV?

Speaker 4 (12:53):
What does that say about him as an athlete? And
also what does he get out of that?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
That's a I've always wondered about that. You remember that
what was the guy's name in the Little League World
Series that forged the documents the picture. Yeah, oh, I
can't think of the name, but it's my thought, like
is it the thrill of the moment? Because ultimately, what
do you get out of that in the end?

Speaker 4 (13:15):
Was he going to school? Yes? So is he trying
to get an education?

Speaker 3 (13:20):
He was posing as a sixteen year old, so he
was still going to class everybody.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Was he doing it to play sports or was he
doing it to get an education? That's a great question.
And even then once you get the education, I feel
like there's some hoops you have to jump through to like, yeah,
prove you are who you are, and like you gotta
get through degrees, like Danny al Monte is a guy
who's thinking Danny al Monte. And then if you're just

(13:45):
trying to get an education and move on, wouldn't you
not want to play sports?

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Yeah, when you just gott to draw more attention to you. Yeah,
because he probably has a job he has to do.
He's got a child, he's got kids to provide for.
You don't have time to play JV soccer? Man, unbelievable,
that crazy? How do you sleep at night? Correct? And
he was staying because he's from Venezuela. He was staying

(14:11):
with a host family.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Family. What's going on? You know, I got people up
there in Perrysburg. I should reach out, reach out. There's
a there's a whole bunch of Elmore's up in Perry's.
I was going to say, they could have been the
host family. Knowing them they get as many roofs that
kids are as many heads under one roof as they can.
I'm trying to say, yeah, that's crazy, Like, I just

(14:38):
I can't imagine if you're like, you know, like you
have a bunch of young kids in my family and
like we'll gather for holidays and stuff. Well, I play
basketball and you just dominate him, and it's funny, you know,
and then after a while it's like you feel bad
for him because it's all right, you guys can.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Play if at the same time, like, if I'm that
kid and I didn't make varsity, I'm probably just hanging
them up. Yeah, you're on the JV squad. Like all
your doing is drawing more attention to yourself.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
I guess for some people that like feeling of competitiveness.
I guess and achievement is just like a drug that
you gotta get. I want to know how old a
kid is, No kidding, we have we have plenty more.
I want to talk in hour number two. I want
to talk about your birthday dinner last night. Oh boy, I.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Want to talk. Today is the final show of Around
the Horn. Yeah, I want to talk about that a
little bit. Today we have a pole question and I
had a question about Lance's pole question today as well. Okay,
let me ask you about Lance's pole question.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
First, is Lance like low Kia producer of this show
as much as you think his content?

Speaker 6 (15:45):
Well?

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Something that I don't know. Something he posted today happened
to me earlier in the week. He said, you you
mow the lawn and the day after you notice that
you missed a line after mowing, do you bring the
lawnmower back out finish the line or do you just
wait it out and get it the next time around.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
I saw this. Now It's been years since I've mowed,
but I saw this, and I said, get the mower
back out and finish. Yep.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
I'm so lcd about something that if I saw it,
I'd have to get it out of media.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Yeah, I would too. His results right now though, fifty
percent each Wow? So we get.

Speaker 3 (16:27):
It also depends, like is at the front yard of
the backyard.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
We'd have to ask what Landon's lawn care? And Timmy
two cuts the authorities on what he's doing, we'd have
to ask what they think.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
Well, this time of the year, you mow more often,
so I could see, like, I'll just wait a couple
of days, I got to mow the grass again. Yeah,
but no, I'm in a way if I see that
that would eat away at me. How do you feel
that I see like two blades of grass, I go
back over it. How do you feel about this weather?
By the way, gonna be a little chilly tonight at
Great American Ballpark. I don't mind.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
It's going to be a chili weekend. These are going
to be in the mid forties. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
But in my perfect world, seventy and sunny is the
perfect day. Yes, so I love it. I think this
is perfect and nice and cool at night. There's nothing
I don't enjoy anything. Well, I enjoy things more. But
one of the things I enjoy in life is when
the weather gets chilly enough at night that you could

(17:21):
sit by a fire on the side. This is perfect
fire weather, exactly. Bingo and then during the day it's comfortable,
You're not humid, you're not sweaty, comfortable during the day,
cool enough at night for a fire.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
This is my day of ideal climate. Yep, this is
why I'm always obsessed with Maine, because like, this is
what it's like for Maine. Like during the summer it's
a little bit warmer, of course, but like this is
what I want. Windows open at night. Yeah, I mean,
it's good sleeping weather. What about our pole question today,
our Revivefitnessystems dot com poll question, brought to you by

(17:55):
Revived Fitness Systems coach PJ. Street. How many games will
the Reds win this weekend against the Cubs? Zero, one,
two or a three game sweep. Keep in mind Reds
were eight and five against the Cubbies last year, two
very different ball clubs this year. Thirty six percent say

(18:15):
one game out of the three No, twenty seven percent
say the Reds will get swept, twenty four percent say
two games, and twelve percent say the Reds will sweep
the Chicago Cup. You know what two out of three
would mean, That would be a series win. That would
mean on Monday, five hundred ball. Oh boy, now we're

(18:37):
not in Monday. We're not in on Monday, so I guess.
So if they win with Monday in the next four,
who do they play on Monday?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
However they do it win three out of the next four.
If you're the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
They're in Kansas City on Monday. Oh, the Jonathan India
John Revenge game. And we should wait? Is it Brady Singer?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
It is?

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Let's go it is because.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
That game should be on national television.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Singer doesn't pitch until Tuesday. Okay, you know who pitches Monday.
Michael Lorenzen. Oh wow, the Lorenzen Revenge d He's got
a three seven seventy alry this year.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, that was another guy that read screwed up letting
him go. Yes, had a solid major league career. He
really has.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
He could have hit twenty homers a year in this
ballpark too, he really has. You know, I started this
show today, I was like, how are we gonna get
three hours in?

Speaker 5 (19:25):
Now?

Speaker 3 (19:25):
I'm already starting to worry. We're not gonna have enough time.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
You start every show that way.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
We're not gonna have enough time today to get everything in.
So we're gonna take phone calls when we get back.
We'll start the Friday that way next on cinty three
to sixty thanks to Skyline Chili. Thank you for listening
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Now your chance to win it.

Speaker 7 (19:46):
First pitch and now two bay trills It dita lot
piace it gut bar a two homer game for Hose.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Hell to day.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
This run a two run shot and the Astros lead
eight to two has driven it four tonight.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
Well here come the Astros.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Little fellas still getting it done.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
You know that the year changed for all Tuve when
they moved him down in the order.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
You ain't kidding.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
They had him hitting leadoff, remember, and he said, Hey,
now that I'm playing the outfield, it takes me too
long to run in and then get ready, and I'm
rushed and I can't bat lead off. Now he's he's
finding his groove.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
There you go. That was the Houston Astros Radio Network
victory over the Mariner.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
This is since he three to sixty. Thanks for listening
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Happy Friday, Memorial
Day weekend is here. One of the best weekends in
my opinion, of the year. And we got time for
some phone calls here. Can we start it with balling?

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Ain't easy? I mean, I don't know who else we'd
start with? What's up?

Speaker 8 (20:45):
Ballin yo?

Speaker 4 (20:47):
What's up guys?

Speaker 3 (20:48):
How you Doingkay? He sounds focused. Where you at mentally
going into this weekend? I'll bet you he's at a
gym right now.

Speaker 8 (20:55):
You know what.

Speaker 9 (20:56):
I was a caning park last night trying to get
some shots up, and some retting street kids tried to
take my keys and my wallet. Then it's been a
little bit of a struggle. A lot of home cooking
going on for Tony this week.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
Nottill battle.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
But I'm ready.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
I've had those folks watching the court all week balling.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Well, I'll tell you what.

Speaker 9 (21:15):
I shout pretty well last night trying to get I
think we have two courts this year.

Speaker 8 (21:19):
We played on.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Both sides, playing on both sides.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
They they've they've got more teams that have entered than
in years past, so they got to they got to
double up the sides.

Speaker 9 (21:27):
Wow, we're standing. That's great, But uh yeah, I mean
I don't and then they don't tell us what time
we're playing till about twelve hours before the game. I'm
trying to rally the truth.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
I thought that was weak.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
Yep, I know, I know that those that put the
tournament on are listening. I thought it was weak that
they waited until today to let us know the game times.
And I guarantee that he let his son know well
in advance what time they'd be playing. If not, just
pick out.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
Their times exactly exactly.

Speaker 9 (21:57):
And Tony, I want I wanted to let you know, Dave,
of the old school MLB All Star games, We're all
gonna be wearing our own jerseys. It's gonna be like
a theme this year. Uh it's ghosts of Tony Pike's pass.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Oh boy?

Speaker 6 (22:11):
Yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 9 (22:12):
So I'm gonna go with clothing. And then right now
I'm focusing on finding maybe a pouncy jersey or any
Virginia Tech hockey jersey.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Yeah, Camp Chancel would be a good one.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
Take it in your boot.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Let me tell you what if somebody shows up in
a Camp Chancellor jersey, I won't check in at all.

Speaker 9 (22:30):
All Right, Well, there we go.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
I need to get on Amazon balling. I'll see you tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (22:35):
Sounds good man, looking forward to it.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Oh, this guy's fantastic balling right now is a top
my favorite.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Listener or leader board.

Speaker 6 (22:43):
You know.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
The funny thing about that so funny is I believe
wholeheartedly he was there getting shots up last night.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Absolutely, you gotta familiar familiarize yourself with that. Well, they
got stiff rims, double rims, stuff double rims or stuff
in there.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
One of my teammates asked me today, he said, is
it a good court, good rim or we talking double rims?
I said double. They're about nine point seventy five, ain't
even at the ten foot height. Uh, David's calling it?
What's up?

Speaker 4 (23:11):
David?

Speaker 10 (23:13):
Nothing?

Speaker 8 (23:13):
By beautiful day?

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Finally, man can't beat it.

Speaker 11 (23:17):
I'm at the pickle ball tournament, not a tournament over
to Union Township Park, sitting here listening to you guys.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Well, thank you. You're gonna play a little pickle later, David?
Or what?

Speaker 10 (23:28):
Uh No, I'm seventy two. I'm on a cane and
I was just in the studio two days ago to
leave the message for Bill coming in. Oh okay, and
I couldn't. I was the only one then, and I
couldn't get sixty seconds of this time.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Yeah, you're not supposed to come to the studios uninvited.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
You got a better chance of meeting the President than
getting any of all these times.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
That's very frowned upon coming to the studios uninvited.

Speaker 11 (23:53):
That's funny that you mentioned the President because I took
pictures of this limousine down the Lincoln Airport of years ago.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Awesome, man, that is that is fantastic. So you just
enjoyed a little pick a ball today.

Speaker 11 (24:07):
I just watching I get a doctor's with women today
and uh, I'm just waiting to go to my doctor's appointment.
But I'm sitting here at the park listening to you.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Guys it you told me off the air, David, that
you had a prediction.

Speaker 10 (24:23):
Yes, I do.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
What do you got?

Speaker 11 (24:26):
I told Mo, the Reds will win the World Series
and the Bengals will. The Bengals will win the Super
Bowl this year, this year.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Why do you feel that that way, David?

Speaker 11 (24:42):
Well, last year I thought they were going to do it,
and I had it kind of backwards, and then I
realized in what I felt that the bank of the
Reds had to show the Bengals how to win again. Okay,
and that's put put told me if I put five
dollars on that for that, that I would come up

(25:03):
with two hundred.

Speaker 10 (25:04):
And twenty one million dollars. That is that accurate.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
I don't know if it'll be that much. It won't
be that much, but you're gonna.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
Be pretty good. You'd be set.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
I'm gonna tell you this. Yeah, you'd be able.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
To pay for your medications or whatever alcohol you've been drinking.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
You could build your own pickleball court. If that's the case, David,
you wouldn't have to go watch you'd have one in
your own backyard.

Speaker 10 (25:25):
Just so you know, I don't drink. I can't because
of my liver.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
Okay, I was gonna, well, I figured drinking was the
only way you could come up with that sort of prediction.
But you're telling me you're sober.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
I'm so bruise of Judge.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Okay, that's fantastic.

Speaker 11 (25:40):
Actually, Actually, Ken Brew goes some little Miami on Friday
and Saturday nights. Yeah, I'm gonna try to hook up.
I'm gonna try to hook up with him and drink
one beer.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
Oh you gotta get a Bruise Brew. Yeah, Ken is
there all the time.

Speaker 11 (25:56):
I had seventy one peaches based on his record fundation.

Speaker 10 (26:00):
A few weeks back on I just went and had
it for the first time.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Well, David, let me leave you with this. If if
you were to use DraftKings and you have the Reds
to win the series and the Bengals to win the
Super Bowl, five dollars would pay you sixteen thousand.

Speaker 4 (26:15):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 10 (26:17):
Oh but I need I thought, no, it was crazy.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
You might be able to find a bookie somewhere that
would put a million dollars on that.

Speaker 11 (26:28):
Well, I'm like, I'm writing a book and I'm trying
to get some I'm trying to get some help from
Bill Cunningham to do it. I got you, and he,
you know, he thinks that studio you'd think it was
Fort Knoss a chance.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
To get into the president. That's by design, David, do
you do you know Bill? Like, is there any reason
he would help you?

Speaker 11 (26:53):
Well, two years ago we were talking or he was
talking about me on the radio from Beverly Hills from
the Beverly Hills Supper Club fire.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
Okay, okay, very nice. Nice.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
Well, I mean, I can't thank you enough for listening
to this program.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
David.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
I hope you have a great weekend, and I hope
you enjoy the weather, and I hope your prediction comes true. Man,
I hope it comes true.

Speaker 10 (27:19):
It will just put your money there.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
All right, all right, thanks David, David.

Speaker 10 (27:22):
Thank you, have a great day.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
I live for phone calls like, man, what do you need?
He just kind of left his hanging there at the
start of it. Don't come to the studios. There is
there are cameras everywhere, and there are ways for you
to be removed. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
He just say he's sitting outside and joined life right now. Yeah,
Mark help us.

Speaker 12 (27:50):
Yeah, I'll do the best I can the FI.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
Yeah, I got Tony Pike question.

Speaker 12 (27:58):
And who needs to give Austin hellmore any advice? He
came from the pro shop to a microphone in his hands.

Speaker 8 (28:07):
They broke the mold, they broke the mode.

Speaker 12 (28:10):
When they made Austin anymore, he forgot more than you know.
Often don't need no advice. You sit back and watch
his career and let him bump his head. Man, But
let me get to my Tony pipe.

Speaker 8 (28:28):
Make it made sense?

Speaker 12 (28:30):
When when Strand comes back, when Friendly comes back, when
Marte gets ready to come back, Okay.

Speaker 8 (28:40):
Who am I missing? Old chamber?

Speaker 12 (28:42):
When those guys get ready to come back? Who's going down?

Speaker 8 (28:46):
Who I mean? What give me some insight.

Speaker 10 (28:50):
On what the ross is gonna look.

Speaker 12 (28:52):
Like at this point, because I mean Will Benson should stay.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
I mean, I mean, do you think Highness stay? I
think you should stay.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
I do, But I think they'll give one of those
other guys a chance to come back and prove it. Obviously,
I think Connor Joe would go down, but I don't
I don't know outside of that, how you would use
the room, because I do think that you have to
keep Will Benson on this roster right now.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
I think Austin wins. They'd probably Amatiz.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Because you're thinking, you're thinking Cees, You're thinking eventually Marte,
you're thinking jam or Candelario.

Speaker 4 (29:28):
I don't think Cees would start in the big leagues.
I think they would keep him in Triple.

Speaker 3 (29:33):
A and and Frayley too. You, I mean, what do
you even do with Frehley at this point?

Speaker 12 (29:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, this is going to be an interesting problem,
and I'm curious to see how they're gonna solve it.
When when those guys get ready to come up. Okay,
this Sal Stewart guy, yeah, that's you know, doing good
in the minor league playing well.

Speaker 8 (29:54):
Do you do you envision him coming up this season
or would they wait to next year.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
Well, if if David's prediction comes true and they go
on a run to the World Series, it'll probably be
next year. But I don't see that happening. He's been
red hot right now, he's hitting three point thirty one
in triple A. I would think that he would get
an opportunity at some point this year based on the
struggles we've seen from from multiple players over a prolonged

(30:27):
period of time. So yeah, I mean, my thought is,
if you're looking for the future, you're looking for sparks. Currently,
I think he would be one of those.

Speaker 12 (30:38):
Okay, well, I'm gonna get off and listen to the
rest of the show and then I'm gonna probably get
killed on tall backs, but I'll be ready.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Have a great one man, Thank you, have a great weekend.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Mark.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Let's get one more because not only we hear from David,
we get to hear from the former, the former talkback president,
Ronald Reagan. Mister President, how are you oh ing?

Speaker 10 (31:00):
Good?

Speaker 13 (31:00):
And Yeah, I had to turn David back once he
showed up here too.

Speaker 8 (31:04):
It was kind of awkward.

Speaker 13 (31:08):
To Tony. I love you, but I'm here to give
you a warning. I am in Reading. I am entering
a last second, right end team to the Reading Memorial
Day Tournament. We're known as the Dead President. You'll see
us on the schedule.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
The stuff in the ballot box in the last second here.

Speaker 13 (31:30):
Yes, I had over forty people trying out for my team,
and I had to I had to pare it down
to three. I've got at my point guard, I've got
Talvin the Silent Assassin, Coolange. My my forward is Lyndon
Baines jobs on the original LBJ, the original LBJ. And

(31:51):
then at center this is the best I've got Abraham
shot Sink and Lincoln.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
Oh my goodness, the size alone.

Speaker 8 (31:59):
Yeah, you guys are going down. Yeah, but so stay tuned.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
All right, that's fantastic, Abe, little two way big man
stretched the floor a little bit. I couldn't sinking Lincoln.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I can't imagine what those what those tryouts look like
with the original LBJ as well.

Speaker 13 (32:17):
Well, I know Kennedy JFK tried out, but he just
had too many holes in his games.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Yeah, that dude's a head case.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Like there you go again.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
My goodness, mister President, thank you.

Speaker 8 (32:29):
So much, see you later.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Oh my god, that's that's so good. This feels like Friday,
doesn't that?

Speaker 3 (32:35):
That was a fantastic round of phone calls. Take a
break since three, this show is so stupid. Thanks the
Skyline Chili On ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
Hey Alexa, what's going on in baseball?

Speaker 14 (32:50):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 7 (32:54):
Hey, it's Moeger Fanjuela is the best player. Hey Alexa,
what's going on in the nit now?

Speaker 14 (32:59):
Getting esp IN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Welcome back, Cinty three sixty. You're listening on ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports station. Thanks to Skyline Chili. Leave us a
talk back on the iHeartRadio app. We'll get to those
in hour number two. Best talkback will win a Cinty
Shirts gift card. We'll vote on that today as well.
Paul Fritchner is going to join us at two o'clock.

(33:31):
An update on everything that Xavier basketball has done up
to this point. In Xavier baseball, they did fall to
the number one seed Creighton last night, but they now
come back Tonight they take on Yukon. The winner of
that gets to move on to the championship. The loser
will be done in the biggiesst tournaments. We'll get caught
up on Xavier baseball with Paul Frichner and Charlie Goldsmith

(33:52):
will join us at one o'clock this afternoon to update
all things pigeon and more around the Cincinnati sports world.
It is worth noting Austin last night, Rhet Louder, in
his start with Triple A Louisville, exited with are we
just called left look like a left side injury?

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Yeah, it looked like he kind of pulled at his
abdomen almost or glove side, glove side on the left
side of his body. Could have been an oblique maybe,
I don't know. I don't know if we've seen any
update on what exactly it was. Hopefully we'll hear from
Terry Francona before the end of the show today about
the latest, but not great. He was about to face

(34:31):
Ronald Acunya, if I'm not mistaken. Yeah, they were going
up against the Gwinette Gwinett Stripers Wenette, the Braves affiliate,
but Louder didn't get a chance to face Akunya. I
do not.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Believe speaking of Triple A, have you checked in at
all on Alexis Diz numbers I have.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
I actually had saved this to bring up later in
the show. Ten and two thirds. Yes, eleven hits okay,
seven earned runs not good, two home runs bad, ten
walks shocker. So Alexis Diaz was once like, Okay, go
down there, let's work on the craft. Get you back
up here. Not going well in triple A. He does

(35:09):
have fifteen strikeouts in ten and two thirds innings, right,
but it doesn't mean much when you've walked ten and
have a five point nine to one earned run average. Yeah,
we will.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
We'll talk more as the show goes on about this
three game set against the Cubs. But the schedule going
forward for the Cincinnati Reds. They take on Kansas City
starting Monday on the road. They follow that on the
road at Chicago for three. Milwaukee comes here, the Diamondbacks
come into town, a road trip to Cleveland, a road
trip to Detroit, the Twins come to town, you head
to Saint Louis, and you come home and it's New

(35:42):
York Yankees, San Diego, Padres, and then you visit Boston
and Philadelphia. That's the schedule between now and July sixth.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Yep, just trying to get us to the fourth of July.
Red Legs, I don't have a lot of faith. I
don't know if you've noticed her. That's honestly, really where
we're at. I don't know if you've no decided. I
don't have a lot of faith in the old ball club.
You know, Milwaukee looks terrible. Yeah, but if they're playing
ahead to head, there's one thing we've known that doesn't matter. Yeah,

(36:11):
that's the boogeyman for the Red Legs. But yeah, I
mean just just fascinated to see how they play against
the Cubs, to be completely honest. Yeah, I mean, especially
when six of your next nine are against them.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
If you look at the games coming up New York
thirty and nineteen Red Sox right now, hovering around five hundred,
the Tigers are the best team in baseball. Guardians are
at twenty seven and twenty two, tied with the Minnesota
Twins at twenty seven and twenty.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
They're going to be trying to get their lick back. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Oh, by the way, the Royals are twenty eight and
twenty three and they're in fourth place in five games
back in their division.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
The Royals at one point were the hottest team in baseball. Yeah,
I've cooled off a little bit since then. You know
who's you know, we brought up Jonathan India. He's not
having a good season. No, no, Like he made another
error the other day and he's played a little bit
of outfield. He's play a little bit of third base,
which he came up as a third baseman. But like,

(37:05):
he's not striking out a ton. He's walking a pretty
decent amount, but that's about it. Yeah, I mean he's
hitting so far this season just two thirty four, which
again is it's like Barry Bonds compared to most people
on this Reds team. But he only has one homer
and his on base percentage is just three twenty seven,

(37:25):
a slugging percentage of three ten, So it's not like
he's a big threat in the Royal lineup.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
The other teams on the schedule, the Diamondbacks are twenty
six and twenty four. The Padres are twenty seven and
twenty one, but they've lost six in a row. The
Giants are now in second place in the NL West.
The Cardinals are twenty seven and twenty three. We know
what the Cubs at thirty and twenty or do one.
The Phillies are thirty two and eighteen, so buckle up
between now in July sixth can't wait. Buckle up to

(37:54):
finish up Hour one. When we come back. I want
to piggyback on a conversation that Mohead yet yesterday as
it relates to something that he suffered the other night
when the Knicks lost. We'll do that and more, and
then Charlie Goldsmith will join us at Sincy three to sixty.
Thanks to Skyline Chili. Thank you for listening on ESPN
fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (38:15):
Till hey, Alexa, what's going on in baseball?

Speaker 14 (38:19):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (38:36):
Welcome back Sincy three to sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station, thanks to our friends at Skyline Chili. Quick
update here, Austin. Did you know over the summer here,
Rod Stewart and Billy Joel were set to come to
pay Course Stadium.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Yeah? Did you see this update?

Speaker 6 (38:54):
No?

Speaker 3 (38:54):
This from Rolling Stone just a couple of minutes ago.
Billy Joel has canceled all what summer concerts after a
brain disorder diagnosis. Oh man, I said, I am sincerely
sorry to disappoint the audience. Thank you for understanding, but
obviously a very serious diagnosis. Not sure anything more to that,

(39:18):
but Billy Joel has canceled all or canceled all of
his summer tour dates, which I know a lot of
people were looking forward to seeing him and Rod Stewart.
So not sure if they will find someone alongside Rod
Steward or what they'll do, but we'll obviously keep you
up to date if we.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
Hear anything more going forward. According to Billy's Instagram post,
as far as refund information, you don't need to take
any action to receive your refund. It will be automatically
processed back to the original payment used for the purchase.
Please be aware that the refund will go to the
original purchaser if the tickets were transferred to you.

Speaker 8 (39:57):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
Yeah, so tough. Tough to uh to see, tough to
have happened, Yeah, without a doubt. So let's uh, let's
do this.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Moe yesterday talked on his show I believe he called
it one of the things that we can all agree
on in life right now, and he described the situation
about a team that you root for, a team that
that you follow, that that you are a die hard
fan of And he said that this unwritten rule requires

(40:31):
that if that team loses in a fashion in which
the way the Knicks did that, as a friend, you
don't send a text message to rub it in that
person's face. That's that's generally the gist of it. You know,
if if that would be like me Austin on Wednesday

(40:53):
night after the Pacers do that texting Mo something along
the lines of, you know, choke job or or the
ghost of Reggie Miller or something like that, there's an
unwritten rule that you just don't do that.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
Would you agree? I agree with that, yes now, but
I disagree with Moe's idea that it is something that
has agreed upon by most people.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Well, that's the thing. I have friends that don't abide
by that, correct Now. I ignore them. I don't fire anything back.
But my question, and I'll ask this to Moe. You know,
MO put a point of if you share a rooting interest,
it's okay to text back and forth to commiserate together,
and you share anger and maybe emotion, and maybe you're

(41:39):
mad or you're sad, and you share that text, And
I honestly couldn't tell you the amount of times that
Moe and I talked during basketball season about UC losses.
I mean, it's we do it all the time. We
do it all the time. But the thought that I have,
I want to know how much which time has to

(42:01):
go by before it's okay to send that message.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
I think he got to give him a night to
sleep on it.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
A night, Yeah, okay, you say one night.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
Like you know, for example, Mo yesterday was kind of
sitting there at his desk. It's the first I had
seen him since what happened, and I just kind of
like quietly walked over, you know, and it's kind of
looked at him in the side of my eye, like
you know, this guy, okay, right, And he immediately is like,

(42:34):
you don't have the tiptoe. I'm fine, it's okay, right.
I was like, okay, all right, man. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:39):
So that that's my thought, Like and then and then
my thought also is what about rivalries, Like I have
a ton of friends who are Xavier fans. I'm a
U See basketball fan. Is it? Do you hold the
same standard if it's a rivalry game? Because the Xavier
for friends that I have do not wait the minute
the game is over.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
You hear from. I think if you respect the person
you're talking to, then you won't do it. But if
you don't respect them, then you'll talk smack. Okay, Like
I have a there's a kid that I went to
high school. That's fair that for years I would never
hear from him, except when the Steelers would beat the

(43:21):
Bengals he would reach out to me. Yeah, so it
was like twice a year. Once a year he would
talk trash and I, I've not seen this guy since
high school. Yeah, and I graduated twelve years ago. That's weak.
And so this went on for like maybe six years
after we got out of school. Sure, And so finally
I just blocked him and blocked his number. I'm like,

(43:42):
but you're not a part of my life. And every time,
like you think it's funny. Yeah, And that's the thing.
There are a lot of folks that think it's funny. Yeah, Like, no,
it's not. We're not gonna do that. I also understand,
like you know, trolling and stuff like that and lighthearted,
like I can, I can get that, but like, if
you respect one another, if you respect your people, you're

(44:03):
not gonna do that. Sure. That that to me because
the way Moe described it and explained it. I thought
was brilliant. I thought it was eloquent the way he
said it, and you should go check it out at Moegar.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
The thought I have though, is like I've I've lived
through enough heartbreaking losses for teams that I root for
to know how I feel that I now respect those
others and will not say anything.

Speaker 15 (44:32):
Now.

Speaker 3 (44:32):
I'm not saying I never do.

Speaker 4 (44:33):
I'll give it.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
I'll give it like a twenty four hour grace period
and then I'll say something. But right after the game,
not so much.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
Yeah, But like example, like yesterday, Moe's gonna come to work, sure,
and there's no way we're not going to talk about it,
right Yeah, And that's for him a night to drive
around And I did drive around and get sweet Tarts
and Coca Cola. So yeah, I mean I get where
people are coming from. Yeah. I I I feel like
most of the time I abide by that rule, but

(45:03):
not all the time.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Yeah, I will. I will at least allow you to
sleep on it.

Speaker 4 (45:08):
And if it's like a debilitating loss, now, if they lose,
if you know, I have a buddy who's a big
Raiders fan, if they lose, you know, a Week three
game to the Seahawks, you know, and it's like twenty
seven to thirteen, I'll say something. But if they lost
in the like when they beat when they lost to

(45:29):
the Bengals in the playoffs, I didn't poke the bear there.
I was just like, yep, you know, we'll talk about
it later, right.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
But I thought it was an interesting topic because I
know a lot of folks that don't abide by that rule.
So I don't know if it's a rule that everyone
abides by. But I do think the rivalry aspect is interesting,
and I think there is a time frame that needs
to be allotted to go by before you then can
be fair game others. But living through some of those

(46:02):
losses could not agree more with me. Let's take a break,
let's come back. Charlie Goldsmith ready to join us to

It's been a heck of a week, not only with
every thing you now have going on with Thoughts nineteen,
which we'll dive into and a little bit here towards
the end, but the week started off with a unique
story based on the life and eventual death of a pigeon.
Did you ever imagine that what you saw on that
faithful batting practice afternoon would turn into what it has?

Speaker 17 (48:19):
Well? Was so ironic about it all?

Speaker 15 (48:21):
Was?

Speaker 17 (48:21):
I mean, we've all been to batting practice and like
you really watch some pitches, you don't really watch every pitch.
This happened to be a pitch that I was just
absolutely locked in on. In the initial explosion followed by
the resuscitation, followed by the escorting out of the stadium,
I mean, it was a dramatic set of circumstances.

Speaker 4 (48:41):
Is it fair to say it was similar to the
Randy Johnson experience the explosion as you've described.

Speaker 17 (48:47):
It, I yes, in terms of that was the first
thing that came to mind seeing the explosion, But what
turned out it was just a half explosion. I thought
the explosion signaled guests, but it turned out just about
I'm sorry, this should be a family show sinty three sixty,
but here we are talking about which limbs of a

(49:08):
pigeon were ripped off, but the remains were out in
right field and had to be cleaned up even though
he was alive.

Speaker 4 (49:15):
You know, the player.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
The players wished to remain anonymous, which is okay. What
was the reaction from some of the other players. Was
there a people around? Yeah, it was not.

Speaker 17 (49:32):
It was not a well attended batting practice or time
of batting practice, So there's not so much I can
say because that might give some hits, but it's not
like the whole team was right there, so that did
diminish them of the reaction. But that in practice stopped
and it was like in oh my god, like I
think they actually thought about like just stopping that in

(49:54):
practice because of just like the shock, but they powered
through the usion.

Speaker 4 (49:59):
Would want do you feel like something like this can
have an impact and be a turning point one way
or the other when it comes to the Big One
sixty two.

Speaker 3 (50:10):
Feels like they rallied around it, at least for a night.

Speaker 17 (50:13):
Well, and then you can make the case the pigeons
got their revenge on Tuesday and Wednesday. So that's Baseball's
just momentum is just the next day starting pitcher, pigeon
or not. Nothing gets in the way of that.

Speaker 3 (50:25):
Old adage Charlie the team itself. It's almost washed rints
repeat at this moment when we talk about the struggles
that they have a series in which the pitching staff
for the Reds gives up a total of five runs.
They somehow lose the series, and we're back talking about
the inconsistent nature from a hitting standpoint. How do you

(50:49):
view where this team is out from a hitting standpoint?
Now that they are past that fifty great game threshold.
Is this more of who they are? Are you still
waiting for some of these guys to break out of
these prolonged slumps?

Speaker 17 (51:02):
Well, I think that Ellie McClain, Steer, and Stevenson are
are better than this. I still believe that that's the case.
But what's happened is and Stevenson hasn't been active as long,
so I won't put him in this camp. But what's
happened several times with Ellie and McClain and with Steer
is we've seen a week, we've seen more than a week.
Maybe it's just been a couple of games, but they've

(51:22):
all had multiple stretches where it's been where they've acknowledged
and the coaches have acknowledged all right, kind of figuring
it out, looking good, turning the corner, doing this approaching
kind of his that back in this way, clicking with disadjustment,
which is leading to this like we've all seen that,
and then just as quickly that perverts itself, like mcclan
I thought was looking great and are looking a lot better,

(51:44):
and then Pittsburgh was his worst series of the season.
So it's just been this back and forth, the Oyo
whirlwind for players you expected to be more consistent, and
Threads won't win without, you know, their best young players
being their best players.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
Stevenson's interesting to me because he's clearly going through a
struggle right now. If you just look at the way
that he's played in fifty five at bats, he's struck
out in twenty five of them. So how do you
balance Charlie If you're a coaching staff because Austin Wins
was hitting really well. Trevino has been fantastic. You know,
the only way that Stevenson will get out of this

(52:19):
is getting more at bats. But you also don't want
to sacrifice these at bats when you're trying to win
games because you don't have a large margin for air.
How do you balance that? If you're Terry Francona.

Speaker 17 (52:31):
Just in general, that's always a fascinating debate approach conversation
Cayton interfuture projection, balancing with what you're seeing. I just
don't see a world where Trevino or Wins are a
better offensive player than Tyler Stevenson, and I would just
associate anything we've seen that would obviously that shows the
contrary so far as a combination of small sample size

(52:54):
of Stevenson morting his way back and then maybe a
hotter stretch than you'd expect from true Vino, who's not
an offensive player. And for Austin win too. I've always
spoken very highly of even going back to last year,
but they've kind of shown you what they think of
Austin Wins by the fact that they're not playing him.
So the bigger not concerned, but it almost was. The

(53:16):
bigger thing with Stevenson was during about his first week,
basically all the pitchers just didn't look as comfortable with
Stevenson behind the plate, and that was on my radar.
That was a thing that I was kind of exploring.
I think that's changed, and I think, you know, the
consistency of their rotation has pretty much felt independent of catcher.
And you've seen a lot of great moments with Stevenson

(53:38):
to the pitch caller, the framer, working with the staff,
all of that kind of stuff. So that was a concern.
But since Stevenson's doing that much better now about as
well as Travino, I'm keeping him in all of them.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
How do you view you know that they've played in
fifty one Ellie has played in fifty one games, but
he's second in baseball with strikeouts, He's leading baseball and
and I don't know if it was Ellie's got to
step into the MVP front runner this season, but I
think there was a contingent based on the spring of
head that thought it, well, he's going to be contending

(54:11):
to be an MVP in Major League Baseball. How do
you view Ellie as a as a guy that has
had eight home runs, that does have thirty three RBIs,
but has not quite lived up to that star billing.

Speaker 17 (54:21):
Yet I agree with that they're they're like I was
talking about earlier. There have been stretches too where it's like,
all right, Ellie, here you go, and then it just
doesn't happen. The light bulb doesn't click for whatever reason.
A lot of reasons. I think you've probably seen him
get away a bit too far from trying to elevate
the ball and pull the ball, and there are things
he can be doing to be a more dangerous hitter.

(54:42):
I think the change up has really been something that
will have to adjust to because he's seeing it way more.
It's really giving him trouble. I think there's something real
to the fact that he hasn't had much support around
him in the lineup, or as much support so as
a result, that can impact the way pitchers approach him
because he doesn't have that depth backing him up in

(55:04):
the lineup. And then I also think Elie is trying to,
you know, think of when he's been at as hottest.
He's bouncing around the field, he's big smiles, he's there's
kind of this superstar orr about him, and I think
that goes hand in hand with you seeing the best
version of himself because that is who he is. I
think seeing him have maybe even a little more fun

(55:27):
to help.

Speaker 3 (55:27):
Their dit this season when you do look at what
has haunted this team, and it has been the offense
as a whole, one run or fewer in fourteen games,
and they've still won twenty five games. So you could
view that as a positive of all of these players
are are hitting under what was expected, they haven't scored,

(55:48):
and yet they have found a way to win twenty
five games. But at the same time, and you alluded
to this, they're now ozering twenty one when trailing after
six innings.

Speaker 4 (55:56):
How can you.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
Change that name if you're a Reds team, because it
unfortunately feels at times when they trail late in games
that a one run lead feels like a five run lead.

Speaker 17 (56:08):
I think, first of all, like teams have that kind
of personality and it's about bringing more out of them
in that way. Part of it comes down with situational hitting.
When you need a run when you need to, and
I know the right time to but it's not always
the right time to bunch. But We've seen several times
where they've decided to bunch but then haven't gotten a
good bunt down. Part of it is all right, Ellie McLain.

(56:30):
All these guys just aren't hitting up to their level.
So they're hitting not up to their level in every inning,
so you're not gonna be as sharp in the final
and in the final innings when these guys post the
ops's that they are because they're not as sharp in
any inning. So all of those are factors that tie
together as well. Probably another one is late game when
you look at matchups, you look at the importance of

(56:51):
being able to counter specific reliever matchups with your bench,
and the Red because of injuries and the lack of
development from a depth perspective, they haven't had those counters,
you know, una rehse cards to play on their bench,
you know, bringing in the nice lefty off the bench
when they bring in a right handed reliever or something.
So all that factors into another area where the team

(57:13):
hasn't really clicked yet.

Speaker 4 (57:14):
You mentioned the word personality. I think that's also kind
of similar to identity. Does it feel to you like
they're searching for what that is for them?

Speaker 17 (57:25):
I bet there's something to their I this is what
I think. There's something to this that is genuinely a
new coaching staff and a new way of doing things
in a new philosophy and a new approach. It just
hasn't yelled yet. It hasn't clicked yet. You don't have
to like learn the system like you do in football.
But I am seeing that there's more to that in
baseball than maybe I recognize, going in kind of coming

(57:48):
from both sides, players understanding coaches, coaches understanding specific guys,
and kind of in the heat of the battle, how
that translates itself with adjustments and decisions you make and
the way you approach a specific situation and how that
all ties together. I bet there's something to that. Again.
I also want to see kind of almost more celebrations,

(58:08):
more joy, more gods bouncing around. I think, you know,
on the field, specifically celebrating big moments, pumping each other up.
It's funny like the pictures have been the biggest in
a good way. I like this term cheerleaders, and you
need that, and I think having a team that kind
of carries itself like that all around can kind of
have some power to it.

Speaker 4 (58:27):
What's an example when you say, like gelling with the
coaching staff the players, and like what do you mean
by that? Like what would be an example of that process?

Speaker 17 (58:39):
You know, from a decision making perspective, it's what do
you really think of, say Santiago Westpinal and how much
does that align with who Santiago Westpal is? We all
like Santiago Westpanal, this coaching staff has a stance on
fnal that hasn't hitting second And maybe that's right, but
maybe it's not. And you have to be right on

(59:00):
that at a very very high rate when you're a
team that already has a slim margin for air. You know.
Another example would be like, all right, what do you
do with with Matt McClain right now in terms of adjustments,
in terms of moving him around line up? Like what
do you do there? Well, you have to get that
decision perfectly. I would keep McLane in the lineup. I'd
actually hit him a slough or too higher, but that's

(59:21):
just me. But whatever the Reds are doing, they've got
to make that decision perfectly because from a death standpoint,
that they don't have guys making up the margins in
that way. Again, From a power standpoint, they don't have
that Dreads aren't going to go out and overwhelm teams
in Tarry Francona's word, like the two thousand four Red
Socks as an example, he sided, they can't be that

(59:42):
type of team. So they've got to do a bunch
of really small things. Well, that's when you call bunts,
that's when you need to take a strike. Stuff like
that and finding those finding that sweet spot with all
of your players. It's also not something Threads even did
that well last year when they had a manager his
sixth year. But all of that is stuff the Reds

(01:00:03):
need to do pretty perfectly right now.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
From a health standpoint, obviously, it's good news that Hunter
Green is going to take the mound tonight. What are
the latest updates on some of the other key members
of this Red's roster as they try to work themselves
back from injury.

Speaker 17 (01:00:18):
Three key guys on the way back. One's the most
interesting or three notable guy. That's kind of trending in
a really positive direction. Frailey could return early next week.
I mentioned earlier having a guy and your ben sure
a guy you can rotate in the mix, you can
match up well vers right, Frailey's a useful, helpful Major
League baseball player, even though the last two years his
statistics haven't been as good as they were in twenty three.

(01:00:41):
You had Christian and Karnatio and Strand begin his rehab
assignment last night in Arizona, so that means that he's
at most a month away, just procedurally, technically you only
get a month. We'll see how much time he needs.
I'll be interested to see if he plays any third.
When you look at where the Reds are at from
a roster perspective right now, the one bad news whose
Lauder left his rehabs start last night. We'll get more

(01:01:02):
and for today, the fascinating one to me is Wade.
Miley just pitched five and there's not a spot for
him right now in this rotation. He's getting closer, he's
getting close, probably needs another starter or to But do
you go with the six man rotation? Do you try
Miley out in the bullpen? Do you, you know, say

(01:01:22):
thank you to Wade, but you just don't have a
spot for him. I don't know where they're gonna trend
with that now. Someone might get hurt between now in
decision time, you know, injuries always happened in baseball, But
that is a very interesting roster conversation that's coming up
in the not too distant future for the Reds.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
When you think of where the roster is, Charlie, who
would be the odd man out? Because I'm assuming, at
least for now, Will Benson has done enough that you
keep him on the roster. Who are the players that
would then not have their roster spot if all those
players work themselves back.

Speaker 17 (01:01:57):
Well, you know what, did five guys get hurt in
a week a couple of weeks ago. You can't even
plan for these tests of things, so too many things change.
I never like to play the game of who's gonna
who's gonna lose their job in these situations. I will
say here just because this is a very specific example.
And again I was saying earlier how highly I vu
Austin Wins and how I think he's one of the

(01:02:19):
I think he's one of the sixty best catchers in
baseball right now, and there's a role for him in
the big league that's not with the the Reds. On
with the roster how it's currently constructed. As you can
see by the fact again that they're just not playing him.
The fact that you saw the three catcher makeup of
the roster cost them late game flexibility against Pittsburgh on
Tuesday because they couldn't pinch hit Benson because Louts wasn't

(01:02:41):
available to play third. So you do see the three
catcher thing kind of hamstring them. And I'm they've always
said that wasn't going to be forever. It's just got
to kept getting hurt. And you'll take Austin wins at
the plate over the infielders you have in Louisville, because
that's the conversation for another day. But but Louisville in
field doesn't look good at all right now. So that's

(01:03:03):
helped Win stick on the roster. But it's again also
a situation they said won't last.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
Forever, Charlie, before we let you go, Our guy, Molwager
suffered a devastating loss with his New York Knicks earlier
in the week. What is the worst loss that a
team you root for or or buy into. What's the
worst loss you've been through from one of the teams
you root for.

Speaker 17 (01:03:25):
I'll tell you what. It was a three on three
tournament in twenty fourteen that I was playing in. They
employed a tack of foul strategy and it was like
just like the fourth year of the Three out three tournament.
I was in high school at the time, so they
hadn't had like the fouling rules like established and tested.
So we would get to the rim and they just

(01:03:46):
foul and no one would foul out and there weren't
free throw so you just got ball up top and
my friend Andrew, that was as mad as I've ever
seen Andrew. Andrew's a calm guy, but Andrew, Andrew was
going after these guys proceedings. That's what they did. And
that's a lot that still sticks with me now here
we are eleven years later.

Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
Still still sticks with you as well. I know just
from following along on social media. You got a lot
of new stuff going on. You've got landing spots now
where you can find all that you're working on, explain
to the listeners how they can do that.

Speaker 17 (01:04:20):
So Charlie's Shockboard, you'll still get it in your email,
you'll still get it on substack. You can also find
it on Fox nineteen's website. If you go through their tab,
you'll get to a Charlie's Chalkboard tab and you can
also find it just on their general sports tab. And
then also we're doing a show that's on YouTube, on Roku,
on Apple TV, on all those smart apps that we

(01:04:42):
have on our TVs and such mean find it. It
was me and Joe on Thursday yesterday, twenty minutes a
little Red, the Little Bengal with a little a little pigeon,
And we'll be doing that every week and that'll be
a fun show going forward.

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
Charlie, you're the best man. We appreciate your time, uh
each and every Friday for this show, and have a
great weekend. We look forward to doing again next week.
Charlie Goldsmith never miss us. Who would have thought that
Charlie's would have been a three on three tournament? That
still sticks with him all these years later.

Speaker 4 (01:05:17):
Somehow it's almost exactly what I expected. Yep. Yeah, still
still irks Charlie to this day.

Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
Unbelievable stuff sounds like Andrew got violent and nearly did
And what an update on the pigeon. Yeah, to give
that much info while keeping the player's name guarded.

Speaker 4 (01:05:37):
I want to know so bad. I wish I knew
It's eating away at me. I have guesses and and
if you if you listened to Power Stacks. This is
why we don't have credentials correct to the club house.

Speaker 3 (01:05:50):
But if you listen to Power Stacks. Charlie described the
play in which this happened as a hard hit line drive,
which for my money, eliminates about half the roster. That's true,
so there's only a handful of guys that could be
great point.

Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
I'm thinking a few pictures it could have been probably.

Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Uh, your talkbacks are next sincey three sixty on a Friday,
thanks to Cincy shirts on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
Carries on on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 18 (01:06:24):
All right, bo let me hear you good loud, oh
wld oh too ah free, Well, listen to some tobacks.

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Come on here, listen to the clouds.

Speaker 19 (01:06:45):
Get me a bud Oft, Suproud Jones. We hope those
other two divern't come back because it's room totally all.

Speaker 4 (01:07:00):
And come close to the show.

Speaker 19 (01:07:04):
We got hag right, Hello, stars over.

Speaker 18 (01:07:09):
Talk back show.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
Harry, Thanks a lot, Harry, thanks a lot. This is
the Friday edition of Talkbacks. Before we get into the talkbacks,
I know it's a birthday weekend for you, Austin. You
had a chance last night to enjoy a birthday dinner.

Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
It's true. I did that. It was incredible. It was
my first experience at the Precinct. Oh man, first time
I've ever been there. Shout out to my dad for
making the reservation and taking me out to dinner, him
and my step mom, and I got to give a
shout out to Brandon, to Cole and to Jesse who

(01:07:50):
took incredible care of us, made it a first class
experience all the way around, and to Brandon specifically, who's
a big fan of the show. All right, Brandon says
he listens to talkbacks every day on the drive in
and loves the show. It was very complimentary of that,
and gosh, they took care of us, like really took
care of us last night. So I was unexpected, did

(01:08:14):
not know it was coming, and they were awesome and
I can't wait to go back. So shout out to
the good folks over at the Precinct. Shout out to Brandon, man,
that's awesome. And also shout out to Cincy Shirts. Yeah,
today's to day. We're giving away a Cincy Shirts gift card.

Speaker 20 (01:08:33):
Tune Audie, I'm back from Italy. The thing I was
most impressed with over there was the amount of cleavage
I saw. Unfortunately, I saw a lot of armpit.

Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
Hair as well.

Speaker 20 (01:08:47):
Kenny Nolek, shout out to that guy who had the
morbid mount Rushmore of celebrity deaths. I too was shocked
by Queen Elizabeth Sudden passing.

Speaker 21 (01:08:57):
Why must the.

Speaker 4 (01:08:58):
Good die young?

Speaker 21 (01:09:00):
Only had a lot of gas left in the tank?

Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
Man? Thank you, Ken. I don't even know what to
say here back from ten.

Speaker 20 (01:09:09):
What would be on your mount Rushmore of Cincinnati, Bengal
gut punches, Oh boy, here's mine. Super Bowl sixteen, super
Bowl twenty three, super Bowl fifty six, and the Jeremy
Hill funnel. Yeah, anyway, go Daton Flyers, go big blue,

(01:09:32):
and go Sydney.

Speaker 4 (01:09:34):
Yellow Jackets that everybody do the jacket buzz?

Speaker 3 (01:09:39):
Yeah, anytime losing in the Super Bowl is one. And
obviously the Jeremy Hill fumble. I would also go. If
you go back to twenty eighteen, the Saints beat him
by thirty seven. Uh, that was a bad one as well.
I was at that was at home. I was at
that game. The Saints scored on every possession. Yeah, the
Lamar game as well was one that's.

Speaker 4 (01:09:58):
Not much of a gut punch, though those teams stunk,
so I don't know if it's gut punch. Definitely, the
twenty fifteen playoff game, I would say Carson and five
going down there was I want to say, it was
like a seven six and seven back to back seasons

(01:10:19):
where they lost like at the end of the year.
There was a terrible roughing the passer call on Justin
Smith that kept him out of the playoffs. And then
the Steelers game where Santonio Holmes, I want to say,
took it to the house in overtime to beat the
Bengals and knock him out of the playoffs. That was
a gut punch. You could even say Andy breaking his

(01:10:41):
thumb against the Steelers was a gut I guess, I
guess the injury. Yeah, that's a five five playoffs there. Yeah,
that's a good question, great topic. That's what I want
to think. We could have a lot of Mount Rushmore's there.

Speaker 22 (01:10:58):
Species from bowling, easy falling. The tournament is upon us.
I want you to know that everybody has dreams. Tony Pike,
the rest of the field, they all have dreams.

Speaker 21 (01:11:08):
Of winning it. Yeah, but I'm in the nightmares.

Speaker 22 (01:11:11):
So on Saturday and Sunday, I want you to end
their dreams. I want you to be the nightmare. Balling,
be the nightmare. Yes, followed by a million let's go Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:11:22):
Yeah. I just got off the phone with my bookie.
I got balling comfortably. I can.

Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
I can get down the little meek Mill dreams and nightmares.

Speaker 4 (01:11:29):
That's a that was a John Gruden speech.

Speaker 3 (01:11:31):
I know that was a John Gruden speech, but I
think of nightmares though, I think meek Mill. Hold up,
wait a minute, y'all thought I was finished.

Speaker 23 (01:11:38):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Regan, just getting back
from receiving my Noble Peace Prize for the Community Outreach
from the Grave, and well, where I'm at, we don't
do deceased Mount Rushmore list. No, instead, we do not
dead Mount Rushmore list, and so my Mount Rushmore of
living Cincinnati sports talk personalities would include Bob Trumpy, Wow,

(01:12:02):
Lance McCallister, Tony Pike, and Austin Elmore with Mount Elmore.

Speaker 3 (01:12:07):
Wow, Mount elmo Well us too Money certainly do not
believe belong on that list. Mount el Mooney el Mooney.

Speaker 24 (01:12:15):
Happy Memorial Day weekends, and the beautiful day out there today,
sun shining, and the quote the mailman there's probably some
Warbler's werblin somewhere today. Got the long weekend coming up,
got the taste of Cincinnati Red Legs playing NBA Playoffs,
so many great things to do, cookouts, but also let
us take time to reflect, yep, on those that gave

(01:12:36):
up the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy what we're
doing today.

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Yeah, hit on that. I'll hit on that at the
end of the show as well. But the real reason
that we do get to celebrate this weekend is the uh,
the sacrifices and services that so many before us have
had that allow us to partake in in weekends like this.

Speaker 25 (01:12:53):
In celebration of the Cincinnati Reds getting swept this weekend,
Oh goodness, we got all kinds of events scoring on
for Memorial Day. We got to taste of sweep going
on downtown. We got to Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra at Music Hall,
Plane Sweep Festival. Wow, all the pools are open. Everybody,

(01:13:13):
get out there and start sweeping. I means swimming at night.
Make sure to go to fire sweep I mean fireworks displays.

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
Don't forget to grab your broom, Jim.

Speaker 21 (01:13:24):
Tony Austin, Jack Evernkotcha.

Speaker 26 (01:13:27):
I'm just wondering for this Memorial Day tournament, who do
we have a better chance of seeing balling? Ain't Easy's
fourth guy for Manito's girlfriend?

Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
Oh oh wow, shots, I know he's got a fourth
on guy.

Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
Rich Fan Happy Friday, so you get.

Speaker 27 (01:13:43):
First of all, a huge shout out to my imitator
from yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Yes, it's just.

Speaker 27 (01:13:51):
Not very good and his was very underwhelming anyway, just
wanted to chime in about the Reds. Feel like we
need to sweep this weekend. Also, quick shout out to
all the veterans Happy Memorial Day.

Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:14:09):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:14:09):
You know, if they sweep this weekend, we're all the
way back. I'm gonna if they sweep this weekend. Not me,
I'm not all the way If they sweep this weekend,
I'm gonna put I'll tweet out on like Sunday that
meme from the wire where it's like, I want you
to put the word back up that we back with
the Reds hat on.

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Yeah, I want you to put the word out that
we're back, that we back up or whatever it is
I have.

Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
I'll post that on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
I have the audio of that somewhere that you made me. Uh,
you made me cut it one day for some reason.
I'm assuming it was the Reds probably, but it was
something like that. I want you to put the word
up here. Yeah that's it, man, understand me. Yeah, we
back up. We're all the way back if they sweep

(01:14:52):
the Cubs. I wanted officially known I am not back. Hey,
it's Greg. Happy Friday.

Speaker 28 (01:14:58):
Hey, I got the Knicks covering the sixth tonight is
the block?

Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
What do you guys think?

Speaker 3 (01:15:04):
I want to so bad, but I am so curious
as to how you respond after such of a gut punch.

Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
You know what, Greg, I'll ride. I'll take the Knicks
to cover six Yeah.

Speaker 24 (01:15:15):
I'm back into doubt with it, but I wanted to
wish body a happy thirty birthday.

Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
Do I have any life advice for you? Please?

Speaker 6 (01:15:23):
I can tell you this.

Speaker 24 (01:15:24):
Enjoy the little moments of life, because when you're older,
you look back on him as some of the most
fondest memories in your life.

Speaker 8 (01:15:31):
Take care.

Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate Kevin. That's well said my dad.
Told me last night, spend more time looking forward and
less time looking back, man. That's why some cars don't
have rearview mirrors.

Speaker 29 (01:15:41):
Come on, man, surprise me most about humanity because he
sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he
sacrifices money to recuperate his health, and then he is
so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy
the present, the result being that he does not in
the present or the future. He lives as if he

(01:16:03):
is never going to die, and then dies having never
really lived. The Dala wow.

Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
Lee, I'm like, I just choked up, Lee that I
need a moment. I have to say that talk.

Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
But I did collect, not even not even for a
gift card, but just to listen to when I need it.

Speaker 10 (01:16:22):
This does a response to genas talked back yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
What George W.

Speaker 4 (01:16:28):
Bush were you talking about? Capital? T capital M capital
I TP fifteen.

Speaker 28 (01:16:39):
Leave that with a load g Happy Memorial Day weekend, fellas,
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:16:48):
Fun and serious fun.

Speaker 9 (01:16:50):
I would highly recommend you get new sports teams.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
Your life will have more joy as you age to
find and nurture your relationships.

Speaker 4 (01:17:01):
Man, that's the real legacy in life. Friends and family, preach, Amen, preach,
thank you. MWG.

Speaker 25 (01:17:09):
So it was like seven years ago, this upcoming week,
and my wife and daughter and I worked down in
Fort Walton Destined area. On vacation, we went to Panama City,
was like two three hours away. Unbeknownst us, the Little
League World Series was going on. It's two am. We
couldn't find a hotel room. We slept in our car

(01:17:31):
in a Walmart parking lot. My question to you is
you ever slept in your car?

Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
And Y when.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
I've slept in my car multiple times before, not at
long periods of time, but there's been times where I
was when I was still living in Carolina that I
would drive home, you know, at night, and I'd pull
over and sleep for a couple hours in the car.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
Are you serious?

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
Yeah, like you were driving back from here, like driving
back from Charlotte to Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
Okaye.

Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
Marty Gilliard had to sleep in for a couple for
a year. Are you seeing slept in his car?

Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
Part of his story. Man kicked out of school for
a couple of semesters.

Speaker 4 (01:18:10):
Jim, how do you go on vacation You don't have
a hotel room book ahead of time? That's a little
bit questionable. Also, how do you not know what's going
on in Little League World Series? I feel like that's
a spot that you kind of know what's going on.

Speaker 30 (01:18:23):
Yeah, happy birthday, Austin kid from the in the Legs.
As one of the oldest talkbackers, I can give you
some advice, Uh, and that would be to travel. I
have been over most of Europe, I have seen most

(01:18:44):
of Asia.

Speaker 31 (01:18:46):
Uh.

Speaker 30 (01:18:46):
Traveling is a good thing. You will learn so much
about your own country if you do that, So just
give it her happy birthday.

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Can you learn about yourself as well? I'm sure you could.
You know, I've not left the United States early years
in one country I've I've left only once and that
was to play in an international ball and not really play,
but just sit on the sidelines.

Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
Every once in a while, I just wonder what some
of these callers or talkbackers look like. Somebody like David,
what's going through his head? What does that guy he's
just chilling at the pick a ball corner.

Speaker 5 (01:19:23):
Like Mark?

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
Curious what he looks like?

Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
We've seen Mark.

Speaker 4 (01:19:28):
I've never seen the picture with the crazy idea. That's fair. Yeah,
David struck me as the type of guy who sitting
there at a park bench, you know, with a cane,
watching people play pickleball, that eventually did they'd call the

(01:19:48):
police on him. That's the type of guy that he
struck me in.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
What up, guys on.

Speaker 15 (01:19:55):
Listen?

Speaker 7 (01:19:56):
But I listened to the podcast last night and heard
Tony talking about his struggles getting the honeymoon and after
being married for five years.

Speaker 10 (01:20:02):
Tone is just a rookie mistake.

Speaker 5 (01:20:04):
You don't get.

Speaker 4 (01:20:04):
Married in the fall.

Speaker 17 (01:20:05):
And I got engaged.

Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
I told my wife, no, not.

Speaker 15 (01:20:07):
Get married in the fall.

Speaker 30 (01:20:09):
Got married in the spring.

Speaker 15 (01:20:10):
Too much going on in the fall, NFL, college, major
League Baseball playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Audie, keep that in mind.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
Don't let it happen to you.

Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
I just caught a little caliendo in there's Lannie and
Saint Louis. I'm gonna tell you this one of the
rules I learned first, Happy wife, happy life. If she
wanted a fall wedding, We're gonna make a fall wedding happen.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Speaking of Saint Louis, shout out to my guy, Kmart, Kmart.
You know who you are. No, this is a different
it's a different k Mart. Kmart on his way to
Saint Louis. Right now, big Cardinal fan, you can watch
two games between the Twinkies and the Cardinalies in Saint Louis.
And he said he would be listening to the entire
show on his way out there. So Kmart shout out

(01:20:54):
to you.

Speaker 32 (01:20:55):
A little clarification on the schedule released for the three
on three people playing both basketball and softball. The committee
was holed up this morning reworking the schedule. We released
it around eleven am. First game tomorrow twelve pm. My man,
that's twenty five hours bawling, not twelve. Keep in mind,
throwing daggers at the people who are judge and jury

(01:21:18):
is not wise, see.

Speaker 4 (01:21:19):
You man, Yeah, I learned that the hard way. With
the voice.

Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
I take that is a threat for balling right there. Oh, balling,
don't expect good.

Speaker 5 (01:21:31):
The Pirates Pittsburg hard to get rid of schemes because
they're going nowhere. When that came to the Reds also
getting rid of Hunter Green, they ain't going Nowhorry. Well,
you know what I mean. I don't know what their
future holds, but give my opinion. What do you think?

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
The only difference is there Hunter has already on that
second deal and it's a very very team friendly.

Speaker 4 (01:21:52):
Deal, and the Reds are going a lot further than
the Pirates, even though that's you know, two idiots fighting
the worst fight I've ever seen in my life. But yep,
hey it's Greg double dip like Ryan Clark and RG three.
Happy birthday to a real hard worker. Thanks man.

Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
Enjoy your day.

Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
Also enjoy the long weekend. Thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 33 (01:22:14):
Happy thirtieth birthday, Austin from Peppy, Patty and the family.
You are two weeks older than our youngest daughter, who
will be thirty in two weeks on June sixth. Nice,
so happy birthday. We are not going to be able
to make it tonight. I can't believe it's been a
year since we were all down there for your twenty ninth.
Have a great time, glad you've got your perfect weather,

(01:22:37):
and our family is actually going to Maine to a
kitty good thirtieth birthday.

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
We're going camping. You're there. You are like a travel
book for Maine. Not a book. You're like a commercial me. Yeah, yeah, dude,
I love you. Should background on my phone right now
is what is is it? The what's what's the Michigan
slogan is that what they do. I don't whatever they do.

Speaker 4 (01:23:03):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:23:03):
Main slogan is like you should, you should do endorsements
for that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
Yeah, I would be happy to. I can't even do
endorsements here, so if I can do them in Maine,
that'd be great.

Speaker 34 (01:23:15):
Tony Hauty, it's your boy. First of all, let's get
something straight. Timmy Tucus doesn't miss. But as a Hall
of Fame mower 'm gonna give you some advice. You
ain't gonna pull back out your mower. Let you fire
up that weed stick and you go clean up your mess.

Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
Weed stick.

Speaker 34 (01:23:30):
First impressions are everything. Yeah, you take pride in your lawn,
your property, in your community, and you give it to
the people.

Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
Two cuts, man, Well, two cuts is up one nothing
on Landon's line. Care because Landon didn't answer the bell.
By the way, I just landed, didn't leave a talk back.
Michigan is pure Michigan. Maine their slogan welcome home, yep, Maine.
I've said it before. I'm gonna live the final years
of my life up.

Speaker 3 (01:23:55):
And do you know what Ohio says.

Speaker 4 (01:23:58):
I do? Don't tell me. He asked me too fast. Yes,
I was about to say that I had it the
heart of Tennessee. Is uh No, sounds good to me?
Is it actually?

Speaker 8 (01:24:10):
Yep?

Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
Sounds right, sounds good to me. Yeah, pure Michigan. You
gotta stay away from that. You'd rather be filtered.

Speaker 35 (01:24:17):
Yeah, repping the Nattie still out here in sun hot Zunk?

Speaker 8 (01:24:20):
What up, Tony?

Speaker 14 (01:24:21):
What up?

Speaker 5 (01:24:21):
Body?

Speaker 4 (01:24:22):
I be home next month?

Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
I can't wait.

Speaker 4 (01:24:24):
Come on, Rod, be.

Speaker 35 (01:24:25):
Home by my birthday on the twenty third at June
real talk, they talking about my receivers ranked thirty. Disrespect
of the Bengals is just real international media. And uh yeah,
I put a wager on the Ridge and Cup series,
the Home and Away one because it's a cub fan
at my job, which is a die hard like you
for my team. I think I might have made a mistake.
I'll be charging us to the game, red Stone.

Speaker 4 (01:24:45):
Let me down, man, Sorry, you gotta work with a
Cub fan.

Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Do you know what Oregon slogan is?

Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
Oregon? Yep? I don't we like it here?

Speaker 3 (01:24:54):
You might too.

Speaker 4 (01:24:55):
That's simple? Is Virginia for lovers? Yep?

Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Their previous slogan Oregon Gonna stay weird?

Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
Isn't that like Austin Texas. Now, I want to go
to Austin, Texas for all the signs that have my
name on it, and I think that's like the weirdest
city in America. They say, Okay, I'll.

Speaker 36 (01:25:12):
Tell you, Diaz a drive of person crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:25:15):
Yep.

Speaker 36 (01:25:16):
I think the Reds are trade him for like a
twenty five dollars gift card to Kroger's.

Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
I asked about all you could get.

Speaker 36 (01:25:23):
For him, and a source told me that Allower pretended
to be hurt because he was afraid to pitch to Junior.

Speaker 2 (01:25:35):
So I mean, take that for what?

Speaker 6 (01:25:39):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:25:40):
I hope not wow. I hope that's didn't know. I'll
talk That guy had sources in Louisville. Yep, sources ever been.
He was talking to Jim Kelch, sources everywhere. Real Americans
z Rose.

Speaker 37 (01:25:55):
Today we salute you, mister Colorado Rockies general manager Guy
Bill Smith. The only thing grayer than your hair are
the moods of the dozens of fans that are in
the stands. The only thing thinner than the local air
are the chances that you will hold this job much
further in the future. So today we salute you. When

(01:26:16):
it comes to being the worst no one's doing it
better than you.

Speaker 3 (01:26:19):
And that's all of that, and all of that's fantastic,
but they actually somehow get people to the games.

Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
Yeah, so crazy. Apparently the guy that owns the Rockies
like owns the land all around the stadium and they
like build a bunch of They turned it into like
the Battery, the Bank's title Town, whatever you want to
call it. And they just get a bunch of people
because Denver is such a travel destiny. Sure, easy for
all the California teams to go, easy for the Texas

(01:26:47):
teams to come up, and so they just everybody goes
out there, goes to I have a friend going there
this weekend. He's not even a baseball fan. He's going
to a game.

Speaker 38 (01:26:56):
Hey guys, Happy Friday. I don't know if you've been
following flowing this story or if you touched on it
during the show already I apologize, but ex brewer Darren
Rush running into the tarp roller at Great Ballpark, ruining
his knee and ending his career. My question is, why
do they leave the tarp roller on there? I know,
easy access, but can they at least if they can't

(01:27:19):
remove it from the field, can they at least cover
it with a barrier around it.

Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
I'd imagine that's what they're getting to me.

Speaker 38 (01:27:25):
Any enlightenment on this don't.

Speaker 4 (01:27:27):
I don't know much about how that works, but you
would imagine that's a big issue.

Speaker 39 (01:27:33):
Austin Tone, It's Borer Drew from South Bend Home Friday.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
Guys.

Speaker 39 (01:27:37):
Hey most take on the remaining players for the Ring
of Honor.

Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
He was exactly right.

Speaker 39 (01:27:43):
I think the Bengals need to accelerate this for these
guys because we don't want to see any of these
guys pass away before they're indepthys. I thought it was
very sad for Kenny Riley as far as the Ring
of Honor around the Hall of Fame. So you know,
whether they put five in this year, four next year, whatever,
but these guys need to get in asat have a
great weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
I just feel like, regardless of the hall of fame
that it is, whether it's a collegiate hall of fame,
a professional sports team hall of fame, hell a mascot
hall of fame, you want people to go in the
Hall of Fame while they're still living.

Speaker 28 (01:28:13):
Talk about some gut punching losses, the one where the
Bengals loss the Chargers in the playoffs Nimember?

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
What year was wasn't the thirteen?

Speaker 21 (01:28:24):
Shouldn't have lost that game?

Speaker 40 (01:28:25):
Yep?

Speaker 30 (01:28:26):
And then how about losing the TJ.

Speaker 21 (01:28:29):
Yates yep?

Speaker 28 (01:28:30):
And the Texans, Oh my god, it's gonna be pukee.

Speaker 3 (01:28:34):
Was that worse than Mike White?

Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
Uh? Yeah, they've lost some bad quarterbacks.

Speaker 8 (01:28:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:28:39):
I think it was twenty thirteen that year. Andy Dalton
dove and fumbled and I was like, the ground can't
cause a fumble. I was just trying to make up rules.

Speaker 41 (01:28:48):
Yeah, I think you could take the entirement rushmore out
of that Jeremy fumble game. Yeah, how about the slow
replay of Bernard getting knocked out halfway to the ground
and give them the ball to the Steelers?

Speaker 4 (01:29:04):
Was that the same game? Was that the game the
same game Giovanni got knocked out cold? I don't know
if it was the same game it was it was
the same game. Reporter came on the field, h.

Speaker 40 (01:29:13):
Happy birthday, you love your thirties.

Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
Thank you.

Speaker 40 (01:29:17):
I'm much older, so if I was talking to my
thirty year old self, I would say, Number one, I'm
thankful that I.

Speaker 13 (01:29:23):
Didn't have a part.

Speaker 40 (01:29:24):
But when I was thirty. Social media didn't except when
I was thirty. So that's something that spend a lot
of time looking at other people's life. Try to limit
that travel. Be kind to yourself, but remember that you
have standards and expectations, both for yourself and people in
your life.

Speaker 4 (01:29:43):
Well said, thank you, kay, I appreciate that.

Speaker 10 (01:29:44):
All said, Hey Monnie, I did get buried in the ball.

Speaker 8 (01:29:48):
I got.

Speaker 5 (01:29:52):
Yeah, I'll read the s brother calling back again. I'm
sorry about the second dip, but happy birthday. The next Segnison.

Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
Whoa, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 5 (01:30:04):
You won't be the next seg Man.

Speaker 42 (01:30:06):
Dennison good yesterday hiking carve out forty years of this
and we had Sag leave it talking be as successful
as seg I'll be happy with that.

Speaker 9 (01:30:17):
Tony Austin Bond and he's the first off. I'd like
to apologize to the committee.

Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
I apologize.

Speaker 9 (01:30:24):
Also, my fourth man is definitely highly questionable.

Speaker 6 (01:30:29):
What's up, guys.

Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
This is Steph from Hyde Park. Audie.

Speaker 15 (01:30:31):
Happy birthday, Thank you, Hony. Good luck in your basketball
tournament this weekend. Reds fans, don't give up, do not quit.
I'm going to tell you a story that might inspire
hope for the rest of the season. My buddy Jeff
and I. This was around two thousand and three. We
were in the Strafford Invitational Beer Pond Tournament and Clifton.
We were down two cups. Two cups. Okay, Rob Thomas
and Carlos Santana's son Smooth had just come on the radio.

(01:30:53):
Did we give up? Absolutely not. We came back in
one and we walked out as champion.

Speaker 4 (01:30:59):
Wow Afford Invitation Tournament. Unbelievable. That is a story of
hope and tryum opium. All right, we're done and that
is uh, that's a good week of talkbacks. Man, it
got me into these state slogans. That's crazy. Well, we
need to take a break. And then we got to
give out a gift card. We got to give away

(01:31:20):
a gift card. We'll do that when we get back.

Speaker 8 (01:33:40):
Tony?

Speaker 15 (01:33:40):
Hey?

Speaker 6 (01:33:40):
Can I ask Austin a question? Real quick?

Speaker 8 (01:33:42):
Please?

Speaker 19 (01:33:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:33:43):
What's up, Austin? I got a question for you. So
the other day you asked your Twitter followers to get
you to fifteen hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Instagram followers, right, yes, yes.

Speaker 6 (01:33:52):
So I'm I'm osey on over to Instagram and I
realize I don't follow you yet, so I hit the
old follow button and then what I see is that
you follow nine hundred and ninety nine people. And usually
when people do that, they don't like to get to
a thousand. Yeah, so I noticed you followed me back,
and I want to know what your criteria is for
the person that you had to trade out.

Speaker 4 (01:34:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:34:15):
I was lucky enough to get the fall up.

Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
Yeah, that's a great question, and you've got a great eye.
I do this on Twitter as well. I will not
go over one thousand. They both say nine to ninety nine.
And so Instagram has a great feature Paul that if
you go to your following list, it will tell you
who you are least interacted with and who is like

(01:34:37):
most shown in your feed, and so I will normally
go to that list and pick one of them, And
on that particular day, I ended up unfollowing several people
to make space for Paul Fritchner and the power that
he brings to my feed. So I'm down to nine
to ninety six right now. The criteria is there is
no criteria. It's just whoever I'm tired of seeing, or

(01:34:59):
a post of a post er. I haven't seen it in
a while. Wow.

Speaker 6 (01:35:02):
Well, I'm honored. I appreciate. I don't mean to derail
the segment, but I need the answers.

Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
I think we could cut it there. Paul, thanks for
joining us.

Speaker 6 (01:35:12):
What's going on? Fellas? How can I help to that?

Speaker 4 (01:35:14):
Man?

Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
On top of all you do for for Xavier and
your coverage with basketball and the podcast and all you are,
h you're on the call for the Big East Tournament
for the Muskies up at Presco Park. How's that been?

Speaker 6 (01:35:27):
It's incredible. So if you haven't been, if you're listening
to this and and you're neutral, you go up there.
It's free food, it's free admission, you get free fun,
there's inflatables, it's everything.

Speaker 17 (01:35:39):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:35:39):
Two nights ago was Montgomery in night. They have Chick
fil A tomorrow. Yeah, it's it's Mission Barbecue tonight. You
come up, you stand in line, and you get some
free food, free dessert. It's great and the baseball in
the field has been really entertaining. This is probably the
strongest the Big East Tournament field has been since realignment.
There's a chance that the Big East gets rebids into

(01:36:00):
the NCAA Tournament. I don't know if it'll end up
working out like that, but right now Creighton, Xavier, and
Yukon are all right on the cusp of the NCAA tournament.
One of them is going to win the Big East Tournament,
so one of them is going to get in and
then the other two. There's a chance. There's a small chance,
but I think there is a chance the Big East
is a three bid league.

Speaker 3 (01:36:20):
This is a Xavier baseball team, Paul, that was down
to their final out and down two runs in the
opening matchup against Yukon. They come back and win that.
In extras, it's set them up yesterday for a match
against number one Creighton, which they fall eleven eight. Talk
me through just a format of the tournament itself and
now how they get a round of playing again tonight

(01:36:41):
for an opportunity to play over the weekend.

Speaker 8 (01:36:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:36:44):
So the format, it's four of the eighth Big East
teams qualify for the Big East Tournament, and then it's
played like a regional. So if you're familiar with the
NCAA tournament and baseball, it's played like the first weekend
like a true regional. So it's double elimination format. And
Xavier won their first game, they beat Yukon, and then
lost their second game last night against Creighton. So now

(01:37:06):
Xavier is gonna have to win three games. They're gonna
have to beat Yukon tonight, and then because Creyton hasn't
lost yet, they'll have to beat Crayton twice tomorrow. If
they advanced. Whoever wins tonight is going to have to
beat Crayton twice tomorrow. And no team has come out
of the losers bracket to win both games on Saturday.
There have been Game seven, but no team has gone

(01:37:27):
on to win it. So Xavier or Yukon is going
to have to do something that hasn't been done before.
Back in twenty fourteen, the first year in the league,
they only had one game on Saturday. It was winner
take all. Xavier won that out of the loser's bracket,
but they didn't have to win the second game, so
we'll see. It was a really exciting game on Wednesday,
got pushed back because the first game ran long. Last
night's game got pushed back as well because of the weather.

(01:37:49):
But that game on Wednesday night, like you were talking about,
Tony down to their final out and that's kind of
been the theme this year for Zaber. They're a really
resilient group. Billy O'Connors talked so much about how much
he wanted to test this team, and they played the
second toughest schedule in the country, that one of the
toughest non conference schedules year in and year out. But
this year, maybe more so than other years, where they

(01:38:12):
went and played everybody. They checked all the boxes. That's
why their RPI is so good is because they played
one of, if not the hardest schedules in the country
in the non conference, and now they're rewarded with a
chance to make the NCAA tournament even if they don't
win tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:38:30):
Paul I look up and down the roster and you
sprinkle in a lot of local Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky talent
from a projection standpoint at the beginning of the year.
Has this team exceeded those expectations or were they viewed
early on as a team that could make a run
just like they have?

Speaker 6 (01:38:47):
Yeah, they were picked second in the Big East in
the preseason, and I think what Billy O'Connor would tell you.
I had him on a podcast the other day before
the Penn State Series about a week ago, and he
was saying, how frustrating it will in the middle part
of the schedule where they were playing their toughest games.
That not only were they playing their toughest games, but
they were playing their worst baseball of the season. So

(01:39:08):
you combine having to make the trip down to LSU
and some of the most talented teams in the country
down the South while also not playing good baseball. The
record didn't really speak for itself, right, I Mean, it
wasn't a record that they felt like was reflective of
who they were as a team. But then they come back,
they start to stack wins. They play well in the
Big East. They took two or three from Yukon to

(01:39:30):
open the Big East season. That was the first Big
East series Tony that Yukon had lost in three years,
so it just goes to show what this team was
trying to do in the beginning of the season. Yukon
wins twenty three of their next twenty five games and
XAVI wins on Wednesday night at Prasco Park. And you
talk about local talent, Claybor Debt maybe the biggest of

(01:39:52):
that where he won to stay title with Mueller two
years ago, went up to Ohio State last year, didn't play,
decides to transfer back, comes back to Xavier, and now
he's leading the team with thirteen home runs. That's exactly
the type of guy that Billy O'Connor loves to recruit,
and he's been a huge part of why Xavier's been
so successful this year.

Speaker 3 (01:40:11):
I always find it interesting and so challenging in baseball.
You see a lot of teams that can score a
lot of runs, and I know it's cliche in the game,
but it does come down to pitching. When you get
into Omaha and you start thinking about those last team standing,
it does feel like they can run.

Speaker 4 (01:40:26):
Multiple pitchers out there.

Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
That's certainly what you see ran into They used up
their best arms to get a win against Texas Tech
from an arms standpoint, where do things stand for Xavier
now having to go another quick turnaround against a team
that you just played a couple nights ago.

Speaker 6 (01:40:42):
Yeah, they did use a lot of pitchers last night,
ended up using six pitchers. But I don't think anybody
is going to be completely unusable the rest of the
weekend outside the two starters, just because there was a
quick hook last night. If you didn't have it, you
were out of the game, and you have to play
it like that in a weekend like this where now
Xavier is going to have to win three games essentially

(01:41:05):
in the course of twenty four hours to try and
clench their spot in the NCAA tournament. So from a
pitching perspective, they have used a lot of arms if
you're just looking at the box score. But outside of
the two starters Ben Webber and Ryan Peach that have
already thrown it, and you know, Ben Webber is the
type of guy that if you needed an inning tomorrow
in game seven, I wouldn't be surprised if he went
out there and could get you three outs if he

(01:41:26):
had to. But I would say Ryan Peach Zaber starter
from last night, is the only guy that I would
completely rule out a couple of guys that have thrown
a decent amount of pitches. Maybe, but I think from
an overall perspective looking at the pitching staff, they're set
up decently. Guys are tired by this point in the week,
but you know, they know that this is the time

(01:41:49):
of the year when you got to kick it into
high gear and they'll all.

Speaker 8 (01:41:52):
Be ready to go.

Speaker 12 (01:41:53):
Paul.

Speaker 3 (01:41:53):
I saw earlier today eleven point seven College Baseball. It's
a college baseball podcast, but they have their field of
sixty four projections and in their field they had you
see traveling to Vanderbilt. You see as the two seed
and they have the Xavier Musketeers at Vanderbilt as well
as the three seed. Xavier has beaten U see twice

(01:42:15):
this year. Are we ready in this city though? For
you see Xavier round three?

Speaker 6 (01:42:20):
Well, I guess, are we carpooling down to Nashville?

Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Tell I'll never turn down to Nashville trip.

Speaker 6 (01:42:25):
Well, so I'm going to Nashville this weekend. I'll be
down there leaving straight from the game tonight. And I
saw that projection earlier today and I said, look, if
you have to twist my arm and we have to
go to Nashville twice in eight days. I'll do it.
But yeah, I mean, that would be it'd be great
because from Cincinnati's perspective, they lost both games to Xavier
this year, the one up at Mason and then hear

(01:42:47):
the one or the one rather not up in Mason.
They didn't play at the nut Sault, but the one
at you see, and then that was a late game
that Xavier came back and won. And then the game
that Xavier won I believe it was fifteen to six
or fifteen to seven at Hayden Field. So you know,
from a Cincinnati perspective, they would love that rematch in
the NCAA Tournament. For Xavier, they'd be feeling pretty good

(01:43:07):
that they were two and zero against them, So that
just from an on field perspective, that would be great,
and from a rival ran perspective, it'd be awesome for
the city. And how cool is that? You know, I
think college baseball has grown so much of the last
four or five years. The sport has exploded, you see.
You know, I had made the tournament in twenty nineteen.

(01:43:27):
They're going to get back in this year. Zager looks
like they're gonna make it with a win tonight. I
think they'll be feeling pretty good. But for two teams
to be as competitive as they are in this city,
it's it's fun. I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:43:40):
That's what I was curious about. I had this conversation
with Moe earlier in the week. This is such a
baseball driven city and you get behind the Reds so much.
And I don't know if it's just because we haven't
seen many instances where you See and Xavier has been
been as good as they are in the same season,
But it feels like from a coverage dance point, we

(01:44:00):
don't talk about it. There's not as much talked about it.
If both of these teams make the dance, how much
does that do for baseball in this city and growing
as you mentioned that that sport and the love for
the game here in a baseball city.

Speaker 6 (01:44:14):
I think it's only going to keep growing. Because Jordan
Bischel has done a great job at You see, Billy
O'Connor went to Xavier. He's been a coach at Xavier.
He was an assistant, now he's the head coach. He
is Xavier through and through, So you have two really
good head coaches at your premier programs in the city,
and you have you see that now is going to
make their second NCAA tournament since twenty nineteen after not

(01:44:37):
making one since the seventies. Xavier's never made a super regional,
and they know that they're close. They played in a
regional final game multiple times in the last ten or
eleven years since joining the Big East, so they've been
right there. And I think that's the thing here, Tony,
And that's the thing that I love about college baseball,
because yeah, you watch the Reds in one hundred and
sixty two games, but the growing complaint about ME league

(01:45:00):
baseball is just the fatigue of the one hundred and
sixty two games, right It's hard to follow for the
casual fan. It's hard to keep up over the course
of one hundred and sixty two games. If you miss
a week, sometimes you fall behind on injuries or whatever
it might be. In baseball, they're only playing fifty six games,
and every game, especially in conference season, every game means
so much because you're fighting for NCAA tournament life when

(01:45:23):
you're a team like Xavier or Cincinnati. So I think
both teams making the tournament this year, and really both
teams that if they were able to win a couple
games in the tournament and make some noise. I think
it's only going to grow and expand the popularity of
the sport, and I love it. I think college baseball,
with the addition of the pitch clock, has really taken off.

(01:45:44):
The games now are pretty much consistently under three hours,
whereas before it would be you could pencil it in
for three and a half and if it was under that,
you'd be happy. Now, the games they move along, there's
a lot of action, the teams are talented, and Xavier
and Cincinnati it's fun.

Speaker 3 (01:45:59):
I love it, Paul, I would be remissed if I
didn't have you to pick your brain for just a moment.
The landscape of college basketball, we know is insane right now.
And when you add a coach and you essentially have
to rebuild a roster from next to nothing, that's a
tall order for what Richard Patino is being asked to
do at this point. How do you view the additions

(01:46:21):
that have been made to the roster in a city
and in a league where you don't just get to
take a year off and rebuild the roster you're expected
to compete, you're expected to win. How do you view
what Patino has done up to this point?

Speaker 6 (01:46:34):
That's that last point that you made, Tony is spot on,
because when you're competing in the Big East, and when
you're spending money like Xavier is spending on nil you have,
you can't just punt on the season and wait for
twenty six twenty seven. All of that being said, I
do think there is a clear eye on development for

(01:46:54):
this year. They went and got guys in the portal
that have multiple years of eligibility that they feel like,
we'll translate up now. If you're looking at Xavier's roster,
only one player on this roster has played at the
high major level before Roddy Anderson red shirted last year.
He didn't actually see minutes at Xavier. They only have
one player transferred in out of the ACC from Virginia

(01:47:17):
who's going to come in and he didn't play a
huge role at Virginia, but he saw limited minutes there.
So if your Xavier, what you've done here is you've
compiled a roster that you feel like is really athletic
and will stick around in a Xavier jersey and be
able to compete at a high level maybe two seasons

(01:47:37):
from now. But I don't think that next year is
a total You know that you're just forgetting next year
because I think there's so much athleticism on this roster.
And we've seen Richard Patino and what he's done the
last couple of seasons at New Mexico in developing talent.
That's such a huge focus of his. Is not just

(01:47:57):
to go and get the one year guys and hope
that they can translate as a team into one year success.
It's hey, we're going to get some of the most
talented guys that we feel like were maybe overbooked, and
we're gonna build them up and make them successful at
the high major level. And he's done it two years
in a row, so who's to say he can't do
it a thirty year in a row.

Speaker 3 (01:48:15):
Xavier Paul, you're the best man. I know it's a
busy time. I know you've got to go a lot
going on, especially with the holiday weekend. A couple things.
What's the easiest way to follow and listen along with
your call tonight and to follow along with everything else
you got going on as it relates to the Muskies
and college basketball as well.

Speaker 8 (01:48:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:48:34):
Absolutely. You can follow us at the eighteen thirty one
Media Network on social media. A lot of interviews and
stuff coming out from there. But then tonight for Xavier Radio.
If you're listening, we will be on the Varsity Network app.
You can just find us there. The Varsity Network app
will have you covered all night long. I'll tweet out
the link from my account, Paul Fritzchner Xavior Baseball. Have

(01:48:54):
you covered there? So tune in tonight, Tony. We had
people listening last night from Alaska, some tweeted at me
and an r V and a lack of somebody in
Hong Kong in Rome in the globe, Tony, I love it.

Speaker 4 (01:49:07):
Did you say did I hear that correctly? You said
Hong Kong that that's yeah, that's right. Wow, unbelievable international.

Speaker 6 (01:49:16):
That's dedication. It's not your local nation.

Speaker 3 (01:49:22):
I love it, ye, Man, Paul, you're the best. Enjoyed
the call tonight and more importantly, enjoyed Nashville this weekend.

Speaker 6 (01:49:29):
Yeah, talk to you soon. Thanks for having me on, Fellas.

Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
Yes, Sir Paul Fritchner always always appreciative of his time. Man,
He's awesome. Uh, so informative and uh and fun and
great at literally I didn't even know he was doing
Xavier baseball.

Speaker 4 (01:49:43):
Yeah, he's got so much going on.

Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
And then I'm watching the highlights and I hear him
on the call and he's fantastic at literally every single
every every single thing he does. Awesome to have him
join us. Uh, We've got to now turn back the
clock a little bit, Austin, because when we get back,
we've got a vote on our best talk back of
the week for a gift card to Sinti Shirts.

Speaker 4 (01:50:00):
We've got that, and we've got REDS transactions to diagnose,
and by my account, there are hold on, let me
double check. I think four total transactions that we will
break down for the local ball club today.

Speaker 3 (01:50:17):
Let's go fantastic stuff. Since he three to sixty ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of Penn Station.

Speaker 1 (01:50:26):
Now three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
All right, here we go, since he three to sixty
thanks to Penn Station, our three show us flown by
it has it has REDS transactions and a sincey Shirts
gift card we got to give away here. What do
you want to do first to the Reds transactions. Can
we add it as part of our Postman Law injury report.
We sure can. Injured Postman delivers.

Speaker 4 (01:50:58):
The Reds today made the following transactions. They signed to
a one year major league contract infielder outfielder Garrett Hampsen
Hampsen Hampsen for the Reds. They have activated from the
fifteen day injured list right hander Hunter Green. That's a

(01:51:21):
good thing. It's a great thing. They have transferred to
the sixty day injured list right hander Carson Spires. And
they have optioned to Triple A Louisville outfielder Reese Hines. Wow. So,
Reese Hines goes to Louisville and Mark is going to

(01:51:41):
be upset about this. And I think Mark should be
upset about this because they've picked up Garrett Hampsen. Garrett
Hampsen primarily an infielder, but he can play the outfield.
Goes by g. Hamp is a former third round pick
in the twenty sixteen draft by the Colorado Rocky, most
recently played with the Arizona Diamondbacks. In his last seven games,

(01:52:08):
Garrett Hampson is hitting two hundred. He has two hits
four strikeouts two walks in his last ten at bats
so far this season as a whole. Hampson, who is
a right handed Hittermpson five ten ninety six pounds a Reno,
Nevada native. This season, in thirty at bats, He's hitting

(01:52:32):
one sixty seven, two stolen bases, five hits, ten runs scored.
He's a long Beach State guy. Garrett Hampsen. Hampson the
newest Cincinnati read this also just Injured Postman delivers. Just
to add in to the Postman Low injury report, Rhet Louder,
if you missed it earlier, was removed from his rehab

(01:52:53):
start with Triple A Louisville last night in the second
ending with an apparent left side injury. We'll obviously update
that more me get it. That's today's Postman Law Injury Report,
delivered by Postman Law Injured call height four to four Postmen.
All right, these are the finalists. I have one, two, three, four,
five six seven. I talkbacks, to talk or to play

(01:53:14):
here with our phone's happy mind.

Speaker 30 (01:53:15):
Everybody, we all go the famous line from the Godfather.

Speaker 4 (01:53:18):
And leave the gun take the cannoligue.

Speaker 24 (01:53:20):
Well Ken Corleone there from Italy said, I'll leave the
talkback and take the gift card.

Speaker 4 (01:53:25):
So congrats to you can wow bock party got paid.

Speaker 24 (01:53:29):
What that said is this middle name now sitting take
care of a body, go Redley and who they are?

Speaker 4 (01:53:35):
It's good. A man after my own heart is Kevin.
That's good sitting. I like that.

Speaker 43 (01:53:41):
One more win, then one more go close my eyes
and dreaming. So one more four or five hundred, you
know in Cincinnatio, c Incinnati, Ohio, Dancinnati where the Guardians

(01:54:03):
line goes Billy Bencon and my boy REI lost his
way for teams.

Speaker 21 (01:54:10):
That go.

Speaker 4 (01:54:12):
Tough timing there with the.

Speaker 21 (01:54:17):
From Dayton.

Speaker 15 (01:54:18):
Hey.

Speaker 44 (01:54:19):
I had a graduation party over the weekend because it's
that time of the year. My youngest daughter was sitting
with me and I was scrolling through X and that
picture you guys on the golf cart popped up and
my daughter said, who are those guys? I said, you
know what, those are my friends. Yeah, it felt good
to say that. So I just want to say thank
you guys for being great dudes. Let's go, let's.

Speaker 4 (01:54:40):
Have a week who they dang, thank you for being
a friend. That's my favorite. I don't know if that's
gonna get up ended to be.

Speaker 26 (01:54:47):
Honest, Tony, Austin Jack and Colechill giving you my Mount
Rushmore of something number one we got the.

Speaker 21 (01:54:52):
King Graffy swing Man logo. Logo is Elite.

Speaker 26 (01:54:56):
Then followed up give me count Chocula, best seasonal Cereal
on the game, give me Modern Warfare two on the
Xbox three sixty to og Modern Warfare two, and then lastly,
I'm just taking Bob see here anything by that man
that's my dog.

Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
Now, what I appreciate about that is it was out
of nowhere. Yeah, it created a great reaction, and then
it elicited more talkbackers throughout the week to leave random
Mount Rushmore a good point.

Speaker 31 (01:55:25):
Tony an awesome Jim and Ross random thoughts. Those are
the kinds I have. Well, after this offseason, I think
we can call our defense the dotted line.

Speaker 4 (01:55:34):
Let's go get some more. Why not?

Speaker 31 (01:55:36):
I love Trey seventeen and a half sacks, well, seventeen,
I don't count half sex. That's like an unfinished vasectomy.
But do it again this year get a big raise.
I don't mind call me crazy, but look, if they
had forty two plays a game on offense, you lost
forty one times.

Speaker 4 (01:55:52):
Call me crazy. Come on, call me crazy.

Speaker 29 (01:55:57):
Yeah, that's so good, man, surprise me mo about humanity
because he sacrifices his health in order to make money,
then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health, and then
he is so anxious about the future that he does
not enjoy the present. Gosh, the result being that he
does not live in the present or the future. He
lives as if he is never going to die, and

(01:56:20):
then dies having never really lived the Dali lama.

Speaker 4 (01:56:25):
That's good. That's powerful. That's good, it's powerful. Last one
real American z Rose.

Speaker 37 (01:56:33):
Today we salute you, mister Colorado Rocky's general manager Guy, Yes,
Bill Smith. The only thing grayer than your hair are
the moods of the dozens of fans that are in
the stand. The only thing thinner than the local air
are the chances that you will hold this job much
further in the future. So today we salute you. When

(01:56:55):
it comes to being the worst, no one's doing it
better than you. It's good, that's good.

Speaker 4 (01:57:01):
My vote is for the Mount Rushmore of something or
the guy who said we were his friends.

Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Have either of those talkbackers won before? I don't believe
so man, I'm gonna let you vote. They're both great.
I go Mount Rushmore or something because it was funny,
it was out of nowhere and it led to so
much more for the show.

Speaker 21 (01:57:20):
Tony and audience Nick from dayton.

Speaker 4 (01:57:21):
Nope, wrong one one more when they're so hard because
I can't like name them happy mind Roddy. We all
know the famous line from the God Finally all right, Well,
which one was it? It's got to be coming up.

Speaker 21 (01:57:36):
Here, Tony, Austin, Jack and College Hill giving me.

Speaker 26 (01:57:38):
My Mount Rushmore, Jack and College number one.

Speaker 21 (01:57:41):
We got the King Griffy swing Man logo. That logo
is elite.

Speaker 26 (01:57:44):
Then followed up give me count Chocula, best seasonal cereal
in the game, give me Modern Warfare.

Speaker 21 (01:57:50):
Two Xbox three sixty to.

Speaker 26 (01:57:53):
Modern Warfare two, and then lastly, I'm just taking Bob
Seeger anything by that man.

Speaker 3 (01:57:59):
That's my yep, that is a that's fantastic. Now, some
may ask why didn't Sag Dennison win because SAG's talkback
was fantastic. Yeah, you can't work here and win. That's correct,
because if not Sag would have won, he would have
philled Dennison. Phil Dennison might be one of my favorite
talkbacks ever. But congratulations Mount.

Speaker 4 (01:58:22):
Rolling grats Jack. Keep an eye on your email.

Speaker 3 (01:58:24):
Mount Rushmore of something is gonna win you something from
Cincy Shurtz. It's a gift card. Congratulations Jack, Uh. This
is sincey three sixty. We're an hour three thanks to
Penn Station. Thank you for listening. On ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
Sports Station, Loweger, We've talked about this a lot. He's
got what you want, like, who's the go to guy, gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:58:43):
Be interviews, his views and your palls.

Speaker 4 (01:58:46):
Go to guy isn't the team's leading score Loweger.

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
Today at three on ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 7 (01:58:52):
Thirty, The Superior Game meets Superior Taste. Grab a michelob
Ultra the Superior light beer as you cheer your team on,
enjoy respondible.

Speaker 4 (01:59:05):
All those that time.

Speaker 3 (01:59:06):
Tom Goodness, Hey, welcome back. Since he three to sixty,
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, service of Penn Station.
We we've spent a little time on the Reds today.
We've we've talked mostly sports. We had a lot of fun.

(01:59:26):
There are two quick Bengals notes that I did write
down that I just wanted to share for today here
Austin the ongoing Trey Hendrickson conversation of it does feel
like much of the fan base, majority of the fan
base airs on the side of the Bengals right now
and if you're picking a side in these two discussions,
but a large portion of the fan base also thinks

(01:59:48):
that you need Trey Hendrickson to achieve the ultimate goal
of winning a Super Bowl. Bill Barnwell released an interesting
stat that I think does back up at least that
side of things with Trey Hendrickson. Barnwell says it was
going to be hard for the Bengals to replace Hendrickson
in March, but that possibility has become downright impossible following
free agency in the draft, Trey Hendrickson created an unprecedented

(02:00:13):
twenty six sacks last year for himself and his teammates
per ESBN Metrics, eleven and a half more than any
other player in the NFL. Now, those metrics the only
date back to twenty seventeen, no one other player has
top twenty sacks created in a season, so, again, from

(02:00:35):
a metrics standpoint, last year, Trey Hendrickson accounted for between
himself and teammates twenty six sacks, eleven and a half
more than any other player in the NFL. So whether
it was him or helping others, Trey Hendrickson was all
over it for the Bengals last year. Now the Bengals

(02:00:55):
drafted Shamar Stewart. Chamar Stewart has yet to practice. He
told Ben Baby yesterday Austin as it related to his
contract this he said, quote, I'm not asking for anything crazy.
I'm not even asking for nothing. I just want things
to be consistent. I just want consistent language as in

(02:01:17):
the past contracts, and I just won't practice until I
get that. Those that that is a direct quote, So
we haven't heard much from Samar Samar Stewart his quote
to Ben Baby again, I'm not asking for anything crazy.
I'm not even asking for nothing. I just want it
to be consistent. I just want consistent language as it

(02:01:38):
has been in past contracts. I just won't practice until
I get that. Your overriding thought hearing those two tidbits
around Trey Hendrickson and Shamar.

Speaker 4 (02:01:48):
Stewart comes back to what I heard from from Moe previously,
which is like the Bengals just got to do a
better job of picking your battles, like, what are you
trying to get accomplished here with this particular deal that
seems to be so different from the deals that you
just did. I mean, the guy has said multiple times

(02:02:10):
now I want what those guys got. Why is that
an issue for you now? And with all the other
crap going on between Hamilton County and the stadium and
Trey and what you just went through prior to this
with t and Jamar, can you pick your battles and
just say, all right, give the guy the money now.
It's just I get that they're they're never going to

(02:02:32):
change and they have a specific way of doing things.
But what's confusing is you just did it with the
other two. Why can't you do it with this guy?
What's the difference?

Speaker 3 (02:02:41):
And it also doubles when it's the biggest position of
need right now. Yeah, because of the Trey Hendrickson situation
and just creates a dark cloud over everything on that
side of the ball. One other piece of news here
that's just coming down per Terry Francona as he described
it for Rhet loud or this from Joe Danaman. Terry
Francona described Rehet Louder's oblique injury as quote fairly significant.

(02:03:05):
They are obviously waiting for more tests, but that is
the early result, early return on Rehet Louder's injury that
we saw last night. With that, we can now usher
in Moagger next for quick hits on Cincy three sixty.
Thanks to Penn Station. Thank you for listening. On ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (02:03:25):
Cincinnati ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's Sports station. It's time for
Cincy three sixty Quick kits on ESPN.

Speaker 3 (02:03:34):
Fifteen mos Mo's in the building.

Speaker 4 (02:03:38):
Was looking for quick hits broadcasting.

Speaker 3 (02:03:40):
One turn that on when we start the segment. Uh,
the Mowager Show is coming up, and just a slew
of things that you have to probably talk about this
afternoon with you know, a day game two days ago.
Red's off yesterday, Bengals not much happening. Uh So my
first question to you, are the Reds back, well, they're

(02:04:00):
back in town. Do you feel a significant change physically? Yes,
they're playing in Cincinnati tonight. They did arrive safely from Pittsburgh.
They will play baseball on Austin Elmore's birthday against the
Chicago Cups.

Speaker 12 (02:04:12):
Do you have your.

Speaker 3 (02:04:13):
Birthday distantly with Garrett Hampson's ten years starting. Although you
lose Reese Hines, this team, we know they don't need
any more power hitting, so they can send another power
back down. What do you make of the Garrett Hampson
h era starting in Cincinnati? Didn't know it started until
you just told me. So, I have transaction law fifteen minutes.

Speaker 7 (02:04:33):
To sort of buddy, it's Friday before Memorial to let me.

Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
Just eighteen games for Arizona this year, he says it
at Bucks sixty seven, he slots right in.

Speaker 7 (02:04:43):
Right in eight year career, Garrett Hampson equals Jacob Hurdabees
equals Blake Done.

Speaker 3 (02:04:48):
Yeah, he's had an OPS above seven hundred twice in
eight seasons.

Speaker 7 (02:04:51):
So Garrett Thompson, Will Benson allowed to play tonight? And
I know there's a lefty pitching for Chicago? Probably not
no Jarrett Hampson.

Speaker 4 (02:05:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:05:01):
Does it feel different though, just in hearing the name,
even though you don't know much about him, it feels
like things could be changing.

Speaker 7 (02:05:08):
You know, I did detect just I was downtown a
little bit earlier today, and I did detect that there
was this like sort of just extra little punch in
the bar. Yeah, and I really couldn't Tasta Cincinnati. Yeah,
I didn't know what it was, but apparently Garrett Hampson
that arrived.

Speaker 3 (02:05:23):
Probably him arriving. Did you see a motorcake?

Speaker 7 (02:05:26):
Garrett Hampson sounds like a weekend news anchor. Hey, Garrett Hampson.

Speaker 3 (02:05:31):
Garret Hampson weeknights at Great American Ballpark.

Speaker 7 (02:05:36):
Now for sports, here's Garret Hampson. Man, Garrett, it might
be my ball question. What does Garrett Hampson's name sound like?

Speaker 6 (02:05:42):
He?

Speaker 4 (02:05:42):
I think Joe Daneman just signed her to do a
digital show.

Speaker 7 (02:05:47):
And for Northern Kentucky High School football, we go out
to Boom County where Garrett Hampson is standing by in
the Friday Night final.

Speaker 3 (02:05:55):
Ten strikeouts and thirty eight knots does fit right into
what this team is looking to do. Garrett Hampson's a
better sports anchor or big leaguer.

Speaker 4 (02:06:02):
We doing like Nick Crawl woke up this morning is
like Friday.

Speaker 7 (02:06:06):
Oh boy, I tell you what you guys think, I
don't know what I'm doing.

Speaker 4 (02:06:09):
Oh how do you get a load of what I
got here?

Speaker 7 (02:06:11):
He's gonna go deep tonight, Garrett Hampson, Well and Garrett
Hampson will have like a two hit game, and then
in some of these people that are in social media
that act like the Reds have not lost a game
in forty years. Well, I told you, told you Garrett
Hampson was the key, told you he was the missing
piece back off of him.

Speaker 4 (02:06:28):
Garrett Hampson has appeared at every position except catcher in
his major league career. So he went to the postseason
with the Marlins in twenty three and the Royals last years.
Has thirty one career bunt hits, which are tied for
the fourth most among all major league batters since twenty eighteen,
and in each of his first seven major league seasons,

(02:06:48):
he ranked in the ninety six percentile or higher in
average sprints speed. Yeah so did Blake done? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (02:06:55):
Right?

Speaker 4 (02:06:57):
What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (02:06:58):
What do you got coming up on the show today?

Speaker 4 (02:06:59):
Ll Samley Kia's going to join us, Garrett.

Speaker 7 (02:07:02):
I don't know if we're going to talk much about
Garrett Hampson, but maybe Sam lequre at three at three
twenty Taylor Twelveman's on the show today. Four twenty Soccer
analyst MLS Season Pass has FC Cincinnati versus Atlanta on Sunday,
we will discuss this is a big series this weekend.

Speaker 4 (02:07:19):
First of all, it's Austin's birthday.

Speaker 8 (02:07:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:07:21):
Second it's the Cubs. So can we start to talk
about the Pennant Race beginning tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:07:26):
Yes, or the easy schedule coming or.

Speaker 7 (02:07:28):
As I was pattered on the head this morning, mo,
look at the wildcard race? Really we're doing that on
May twenty third, Well, there was doing here.

Speaker 4 (02:07:36):
They got to go thirteen to zero against the Cubs
if they want to win the divisiony.

Speaker 7 (02:07:40):
I kind of subscribe to that. But they play six
games against the Cubs over the next nine days. Is
it too much to say that they need to win
four out of six?

Speaker 4 (02:07:49):
Too much? No? No, No, I don't think it is.

Speaker 3 (02:07:51):
They win three of the next four. When we're in
here on Tuesday, they'll be five hundred.

Speaker 7 (02:07:54):
Hunter Green is back. Hunter Green's pitching tonight like Garret
Sampson's back. So there's no reason to think that this
team can't take it off from here.

Speaker 3 (02:08:02):
Do you worry that a team that was poised to
make a big acquisition now may find that harder that
they're getting sued by Darren huff Rough.

Speaker 4 (02:08:11):
Darren rough Rough, do you.

Speaker 3 (02:08:14):
Find it harder to think maybe that money might not
be available now.

Speaker 4 (02:08:19):
I kind of want to be in the courtroom for
that or do we need more people to go to
the game. This weekend, I heard Garrett Hampson's reporting on
that case.

Speaker 7 (02:08:26):
I don't know if that's outside the courthouse.

Speaker 6 (02:08:30):
And.

Speaker 4 (02:08:32):
Uh I did.

Speaker 7 (02:08:33):
I watched the replay of that play that he got
hurt on.

Speaker 4 (02:08:35):
That didn't look good. No, no, most saying it like
a dog right? How could you not?

Speaker 7 (02:08:42):
If you're if you were to spell the sound of
dog makes how would you spell it right? You would
spell it not r e o U g h the
way you spell rough like rough House. I always think
of it like woolf w o o oh, it's rough,
dog rough. Every time I saw Darren rough play, I
would say, Darren Rough, poor guy's big snipping around for

(02:09:04):
a milk bone. Poor guy's because he ran into the
tarp and gabp. He's gonna sue the reds now. Wow,
he got a lot going on. I'd have to cover
that story. We're in trouble, geez. There was also that
Venezuelan kid in Toledo. You hear about him, twenty four
year old posing as a sixteen year old and going
to school, wasn't able to make the varsity soccer squad.

Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
He's playing JV soccer.

Speaker 4 (02:09:28):
You know there was a movie based on that, right,
wasn't there? Remember Danny Almonte? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:09:33):
Do you know the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Amy Heckerling wrote that movie, and she did so by
posing as a high school student. Man, I guess that
was allowed, but this Venezuelan guide not so.

Speaker 4 (02:09:44):
Do you know how he was found out?

Speaker 3 (02:09:46):
No, his former girlfriend was looking for him because I
think he owes child support for his son. Yeah, he's
a father and he couldn't make varsity soccer. What compelled
him to decide? You know what I'm gonna do is
like I hated high I hated high school. I can't
go back.

Speaker 4 (02:10:04):
I'm good.

Speaker 7 (02:10:05):
Hard pass on that.

Speaker 4 (02:10:07):
You did something? You think like in a high school.

Speaker 7 (02:10:10):
You have like thirteen year olds, right Like when I
started high school, I was thirteen years old. You might say, okay,
well a twenty four year old might look like a
seventeen year old, but like, at some point, isn't someone
going to go you know, I don't know, man.

Speaker 3 (02:10:22):
It's like the sponsor family did they ever question things like.

Speaker 7 (02:10:25):
Sixteen, think this guy might be a little above age here?

Speaker 3 (02:10:29):
Yeah, why is he drinking every night? You did something
yesterday where you talked about a rule or a thing
that we can all live by.

Speaker 4 (02:10:39):
It's the only rule that we can all agree on
a sports fan.

Speaker 3 (02:10:41):
I just had a couple questions because we talked about
on the show today. And essentially it comes down to
a team that you're deeply invested in loses in heartbreaking fashion.
If you're a friend, you know not to send that
person a text to rile them up. If you if
you root for the same team, that's commiseration. We do
that often. Yeah, or in basketball? Yes, does does your

(02:11:02):
stance on that change at all? If it's a rivalry?
So it depends. So number one, Like somebody asked me
this morning, what about Twitter? Twitter is fair game?

Speaker 7 (02:11:13):
Like I know better than to look at the ads,
Like I knew better the other night than to look
at So that's on you. Like if you if you okay,
let's see what they're saying on social media, you get
whatever you have coming, So tweet away.

Speaker 3 (02:11:26):
I knew not to even text you the I'm not
even a pacer or a Knicks fan, but I mean
not to text you the other.

Speaker 7 (02:11:30):
Night, and everybody in mind, this is why I brought
this up. Everybody in my life knew better. Even like
when I got here, Yes, Austin like literally was tiptoeing
around you sort of approached gently. Tarn was like, I'm
just gonna sit over here. I think it's if it's
a rivalry, it kind of depends. Like so I have
friends or Xavier fans and we hang out after the

(02:11:51):
Skyline Chili Crosstown shootout and typically like loser brings the
game up first, but like to me, it's it's like
if you're gonna send that jab, okay.

Speaker 4 (02:12:01):
It's open open season, and it's open.

Speaker 7 (02:12:03):
Season, so next go around or UK if you get
one of those, and we all know people who can
dish it out and not take it.

Speaker 3 (02:12:09):
What about time going by? Is there an allotted time
where it does become okay to bring it up in
except next to allow someone to either sleep on it
or drive around all night on it.

Speaker 4 (02:12:19):
Yeah, because like the coke and some sweet tarts.

Speaker 7 (02:12:23):
I almost lost a friendship in the It was actually
during the twenty fifteen UC versus.

Speaker 4 (02:12:31):
Kentucky game in Louisville. Yeah, the second round of the tournament.

Speaker 7 (02:12:35):
Or quadre more got you know, embarrassed. I almost had
a friendship come to an end because somebody texted me
during And it's like, when emotions are like, wouldn't you've
had time to sleep on it a little bit, or
you know, just kind of distance yourself. That's one thing,
but when emotions are hot, you don't want to go there.

Speaker 3 (02:12:54):
There were people that messaged me after the Nevada game
thinking it was funny, and they're probably people I don't
know if I've spoke too since.

Speaker 4 (02:13:00):
I wouldn't it would be over. Yeah, final result. I
left that game.

Speaker 7 (02:13:05):
I left that game, and as I'm walking out, Xavier
was gonna play, and the person that I was with
did not want to stay for the Xavier game. And
as I'm going up the aisles, xaver fan grabs my
arm because where you going.

Speaker 4 (02:13:14):
Yeah, I'm leaving.

Speaker 7 (02:13:15):
He's like, no, I gonna stick around, and I just go, look, dude,
I do believe in carma.

Speaker 4 (02:13:18):
Your team hasn't played yet. Yep, there it is. Final results.
Revive Fitness Systems dot Com pole question how many games
will the Reds win this weekend against the Cubs, who
forty six percent say one. By the way, Red's lineup
just came out, Please come Onrett, Garrett Sampson is not
in the Santiago Espinal is batting second and playing third.

(02:13:41):
Know he handles the bat well. Connor Joe bats eighth,
He's in right field. Matt McClain bats ninth, play second.
Stevenson's the d H. Jose Travino the catcher. Will Betson
went from player of the week to not playing in
a week three straight games. He's not playing.

Speaker 7 (02:13:55):
Have you ever seen that show John and eight, John
and Kate plus eight. That's Connor Joe Man. Yeah, guy,
it's Connor Joe. He's John.

Speaker 3 (02:14:05):
Have a great weekend, enjoy the holiday.

Speaker 4 (02:14:07):
Will Petsick can't get in a lineup.

Speaker 3 (02:14:10):
He's gonna be interviewed by Garrett later in the day.

Speaker 7 (02:14:12):
Is Charlie Goldsmith gonna ask Tito about that and then
get yelled at by the manager again? I hope by
the way, Tito did that to Charlie. If that's the
old manager, oh yeah, oh crucified. If it's Dusty, if
it's Bryant Bryce, but Tito does it, It's cool. Could
be a jerk to my guy, Charlie Charlie Cincinnati.
