Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is Skyline Chile. Since he three to sixty about
Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Skyline Chile. Stop
by Skyline Chile through a three way or cheeze Coney today.
Feeling good, It's Skyline time. This is ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
You're darn right at Sincy three sixty. We are live
at Bengals training camp. There's really not training camp happening
right now, but we're at the field where training camp
just took place. Special edition here of Sincy three to sixty.
Many thanks to AE Door and Window. They sell the
best in service the rest. Also, these broadcasts wouldn't be
possible without our friend Adam Weber for sponsoring the broadcast

(00:43):
and all his continued support of the Bengals all these
many years. If we're setting the scene here, there's not
much to set.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
We've got some tight ends doing some work on the
tight ends. You're doing a little more work. I think
this is maybe teaching Noah fan there still, Oh.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Peyton Stearns is now leaving the facility, all right, Kay,
Adams has already left the facility.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Jimmy Burrow has left the building.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Jimmy Burrow has left the building. Sam Hubbard, Kevin Huber,
Anthony Munoz, Dave Lapham, Dan Horde all have left the building,
and yet we stand. We're here strong, unlike in solidarity,
unlike the people who enter Bristol and didn't stay. It's right.
It'd be one thing to be like, Hey, practice is done,
let's head out.

Speaker 3 (01:25):
We are here at least me for the next forty
five minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Yeah, where's all this hate coming from all of a sudden.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
I don't think it's hate. I think the more I
think about it, it's disappointment. I just I feel like
this is a team that's scratching and calling Austin and.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
This season is over. They are not catching the Padres,
nor are they going to catch the Mets.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
What if they catch the Mets.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
We've seen them for one hundred and thirteen games. We
know exactly who they are. All Right, they can't win
some sort of wager here. I have too many of
those not doing it.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
You're gonna have to watch the Reds in the wildcard
round from the dack deck, and I might go with.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
You, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
If the.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Reds make the playoffs, Moe gets to go down to
the doctor deck as well, feel game one.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
You know what, you know? The fan base pretty energized
after last night. Big win, go on the road, fall behind,
get the big hit by Freedol, great bullpen work, Emilio
Pagan dominant in the ninth, some awesome defense. Fans are
feeling it. Padres lose, Mets lose, and here's our guy
at noon the next year.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Fans are feeling it.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Do you really think that there last night?

Speaker 3 (02:41):
No, no, no. I think fans are trying to figure
out if I can.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I'm happy that they won a game that they normally
don't win, but I don't think that's indicative of who
they will be for the next forty nine games.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
I believe most fans are waiting for the rug to
be pulled out from underneath the R. And I maintained
what I've said all year long. I think this team
is good enough to stay in the hunt for the
rest of the season as currently constructed. I don't think
they're good enough and they haven't proven yet to be
good enough to get over the hull.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
They scratch and they claw and they fight, but unfortunately.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Three out with forty nine to go is better than
four out with forty nine.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
To go yes.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I just think unfortunately for this team, the heart is there,
the fight is there. I just don't think the roster
is I just don't think they're good enough offensively correct,
and they had a chance to improve that and they didn't.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
I think they did against lefties with Andhrr. But kee
Brian Hayes. Look, he made his made a great play
last night. He comes to Cincinnati and they hit him
ninth and in how many in how many cities? Is
the big trade deadline acquisition slid into the ninth spot
of the batting order. So they're telling you, like, we didn't,
we didn't upgrade this. Now. If you want to say

(03:56):
they're gonna be better at run prevention, I buy it.
If you want to say this starting staff is going
to get a boost when Hanter Green comes back, I
buy it. If you want to say that the bullpen
is going to be better by extension with the acquisition
of Lttel, I buy it. I do think making up
three games is not insignificant, and I'm skeptical, as I've
been all year long, this team is going to hit
enough that said, okay, yeah, remove all of that. Last

(04:19):
night was a blast.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Was Last night was my environment like that.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Watching that game at my house was like the most
fired up I have been in the last four innings
of a regular season baseball game in quite a while.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Two more against the Cups, and then unfortunately they've missed
them all year, they do face pall schemes. This week
they do. And then they got the Pirates, and we
know what the schedule ahead looks like for the Cincinnati.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Rev Ryan Hayes revenge game.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
There it is this week. We know what the schedule
ahead looks like for the Cincinnati Bengals. Now they're going
to travel tomorrow. They play against the Philadelphia Eagles on
Thursday night. This is our last training camp coverage day.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
But the Reds and Pirates. But the Reds and Bank
the same state.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Wow Thursday.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
How about that Keystone take Keystone State takeover?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Huge? Huge? What do you make of, uh, of today's
atmosphere down here?

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (05:12):
I would best describe it as what I watched over
the last couple of years more on a daily basis,
which I think is indicative of how good this year's
camp has been. Because there's been urgency, there's been pop,
there's been more physicality, everything you want in a day
Today felt like more of the country club feel, and
I get part of it for your x Rady to track.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Day felt like the Friday after Opening Day when I'm
on the air. It felt, Yeah, if we're being generous,
i'll say relaxed. If we're being a little bit more critical,
I'll say lethargic. Today didn't feel crisp. Yeah, today didn't
feel you didn't feel that pep. And again like part
of it is because we had seen, we had felt

(05:52):
all those things in all the times we had been
here prior to today.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Yeah, today felt like I think that's more of a
testament to what they've done so far.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Today felt like the true like dog day of camp,
where it's like, all right, the beginning of it is
well in the rearview mirror, the end of it is
still deep in the distance. Let's play a game on Thursday,
then come out this weekend like today. I'm not gonna
say that nothing good was done today, but can you
name a winner like offense defense? What was there one
team period today? And I think the defense won that.

(06:23):
I think I watched T Higgins make a couple of
really nice catches. Yeah, I can't tell you anybody on
defense who really jumped off the page.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
To me, No hard because they did. They didn't really
give you any team It was more individual work and
for the most part, it was more we're going to
walk through this today to make sure we have it
figured out on Thursday. So don't expect. There shouldn't be
alignment penalties. There shouldn't be pre snat penalties. There shouldn't

(06:52):
be guys missing responsibilities. That today was in hopes to
get that out before Thursday.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
I'll ask you when is the last time, because they're
gonna play a game on Thursday, and you do what
you want with preseason results. I could be dead wrong
in assessing this, but I'm I feel like most years,
the Bengals first preseason game, regardless of who plays, in
different dynamic this year because starters are gonna go. As
Zach Taylor said today a quarter ish, when is the

(07:21):
last time you watch the Bengals play the first preseason
game where you thought, huh, that looked pretty good. Oh,
I know, I'm kind of putting me on the spot.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
I want to say there was a game like two
years ago, maybe against Tampa, where they had a good
opening drive, like somebody caught a touchdown.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
It was like, was that the first preseason game?

Speaker 4 (07:40):
I think, so, okay, I can't remember, but I remember
an opening drive of a of the first preseason game
where they looked pretty good and I was like, nice, okay,
and then so I don't but I can't tell you
who it was or who scored.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
Feels it feels to me, and again like I could
be dead wrong about this. It feels to me like
most of the time when the Bengals start the preseason,
and again they they haven't played Joe Burrow in those games,
but most of the time you watch the first preseason
game and you go, yeah, okay, that's forgettable. What I
would love, admittedly I'm not working on Thursday or Friday,

(08:17):
but what I would love is on Friday to go,
you know what, that looked pretty good? So auen is
that looked pretty crisp?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Austin's right. It was a touchdown from Burrow to t Higgins.
Okay against Tampa preseason game number one last year, August tenth.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
I don't know what the year was. That wasn't last year?
Preseason games? Man, they all rookie last year.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah, that would have been last year.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
Been last year okay, because that was the game. If
correct me. If I'm wrong, Burton had to catch late.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yahide backups of backups, and that's the story emerged.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
He's out in the score right, So there's the answer.
But then I stand corrected. But it feels like I'll
amend what I just said. It Like most years, you
watch the Bengals play the first preseason game, and understanding
what you're watching and who you're watching, it's either forgettable
or you're not that impressed. What I would like is

(09:10):
for on Friday to go clean. You know what, that's
pretty clean, That that team look crisp, that team look,
that's pretty good. I just want that. We can dive
into the specifics, but that's what I will.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Well, let me spin it to both of you. Then,
if if you could walk away from Thursday night and
just pick a side of the ball and know that
offense would include the offensive line defense as a whole,
who was terrible last year. If you could only have
one side of the ball to be crisp and clean
on Thursday night, which one would you rather see?

Speaker 4 (09:37):
For me? It would be the offense because you know,
normally I'm really excited for the first preseason game because
I'm a sick individual, but I'm terrified to watch this game,
correct because everything that you guys have been reporting on
down there about how bad the offensive line looks, and
even if they're not going to be going up against
Philly starters, that's still a bad offensive line with a

(09:57):
lot of question marks. And the sea is moot if
it's not for Joe Burrow behind center, and if he's
going to be playing a quarter ish or several series
or a couple series. Either way, I don't feel confident
in the offensive line. And while I think it's important
for the starters to get reps in the preseason, I'm
watching this this thing like I'm terrified because I just

(10:21):
don't want to see, yeah, exactly through my fingers, because
if they if some something happens to Burrow, I mean
it's all over.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Yeah this you know a couple of the names we'll see.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Well, I'll quickly hear expand upon what Austin just said,
because I agree, like this isn't going to be fun
on Thursday watching this game. This is this is gonna
be like the first time you hand the keys to
your kid to I mean, like right, you know, like
I mean this is I'm excited this preseason football, but
the idea of watching Joe Burrow and his fellow elite

(10:55):
players play in the game that doesn't count terrifies me.
This whole thing goes south if something happens at job
and like you hate to talk about it in those terms,
but like for we have not complained about Joe Burrow's
lack of participation of the preseason up until the way
the season started last year. We've been on board with

(11:16):
him not playing for one simple reason. Don't want the
guy to get hurt. Offensive line is a question mark.
Offensive line has not been impressive in training camp, and
so that, to me is what I'm paying attention to
more than anything. I am dreading this on Thursday because
it carries with it so much risk. It's also risk
that you're willing to assume because of how poorly they started.

(11:38):
But I focus on the offense not only because that
When I think of their poor starts over the last
three years, not that the defense hasn't been complicit, but
I think of the clunkiness of the offense, I think
of Joe and Jamar not being on the same page.
I think of Joe looking Rusty. I think of the
offense looking just real, sort of disjointed in all of
those three games. I don't think as much about the defense. Now.

(12:00):
They missed a bunch of tackles against the Patriots last year.
They weren't awesome against Deshaan Watson and the Browns two
years ago. But I think of the offense costing the
Bengals victories in the season opener in each of the
last three years more than I do the defense. So
let me see something on Thursday through my fingers that
makes me go, you know what, this offense looks like.
It's in a position to hit the ground running on

(12:22):
September sent.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
I view it on the defensive side as it's a
no win situation because if you walk out of Thursday
Night and Tanner McKee and Dorian Thompson, Robinson and Kyle
McCord light you up, Yeah, you're a whole different conversation.
And if you hold your own against them, it's well,
your ones are going against guys that aren't going to
see the field on the other side of the ball.
What is what is the conversation we're having on Friday?

(12:46):
If in the limited time he's in Joe Burrow was
under pressure against backups. Problem extreme panic button. Yeah, and again,
if the old line takes care of business and you
win against twos, what they should do. But at least
it looked clean. I think there's so much emphasis and
pressure on this offensive line performing for everything. You guys

(13:07):
just highlighted that I'm gonna be fascinated to be tuned in.
I think it's interesting names that we talked about around here.
You'll see on Thursday. Azi's old Jalari, remember all the
talk about him, Get him, let him be a Bengal.
Jehad Campbell is a Philadelphia Eagle. We had a ton
of talk about Jahad Campbell with the Eagles. So if

(13:28):
we're talking Friday about the Eagles bullying the Bengals up front,
then it's going to be I think a little bit
more of a panic button than what we've seen. And
I think Trey Hendrickson's probably going to be paying attention
because if the pass rush is non existent, that's more
AMMO for him as opposed if the pass rush dominates,

(13:49):
then you say, Okay, Trey, we'll take this as long
as you want.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
I just think it'd be really cool. You know, they
flip it to the second quarter and the Bengals are
up fourteen zip and both first team units are played
by There are obviously gonna be some players who don't play.
No Dak Hill, no Cam Taylor, Britt Mikasiki. But like,
I just think it'd be really fun if on you know, Friday,
and through the weekend we could talk about how it's
fourteen nothing through the first quarter. Who cares about winning

(14:13):
the football game? Just they look good. Like you think
of the defense last year, you think of in the
right position, players not tackling well, you think of no
pass rush. Give me some signs that those things are
about to change. If individual Philly players, whether their first
teamers or fourth teamers, make plays, that's football that happens. Yeah,
give me something on defense that just looks looks better

(14:36):
than it did. Start by tackling. Yeah, like we're not
seeing real tackling here. Let me see. Let me see, guys,
when a Philadelphia Eagle catches the pass, the guy gets
brought to the ground immediately, Or when there's a ballcarrier
who hits the line of scrimmage, the first guy, instead
of just making contact, brings him down. Yeah, Like, give me,
give me that, but like, I'm totally with you, Austin
this this game tomorrow night. We've joked about it. This

(14:59):
is this is gonna be like like when my my
daughter carries a ball cereal across the kitchen and it's like, yeah,
here we okay, I can't. It's a pretty good chance
I'm gonna be cleaning up milk. Like this is not
gonna be This isn't gonna be an easy watch for
anybody who cares about the success of the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
I I just there's so much every not so much
everything hinges on the offensive line right now. I don't
think they've been good enough at this point of training camp.
And if we again, this is our last day down
here this week, if we're in studio Friday talking about it,
or down here Monday still talking about the offensive line,
I would like to know what the contingency plan is. Yep,

(15:41):
what what's the second option? What what is if this
isn't working out? And I said the same thing last week.
I said, Okay, if we're talking next week about the
old line, I'm gonna be more concerned because it is
it's a new system. You got different players mixing in,
you Mims is in and out right now with what
he's got going on. But the longer this go and
the closer we get to the start of the regular

(16:02):
season and the fast start and everything that we tie
this to, the more I want to know. If this
doesn't get better, what is the contingency playing on the online?

Speaker 4 (16:13):
Yeah, and their reluctance to sign external candidates is just
puzzling to me, Like, if you're gonna do it with
a fan, why can't you do it with a guard,
Like what is the difference between those two positions in
terms of their importance to the betterment of your offense?
And you know, Zach Taylor said earlier today about Jalen
Rivers is going to get a look and could take

(16:33):
some guard reps. That to me tells me things aren't
going well with Matt Lee, They're not going well with
Cody Ford, They're not going well with those other guys.
So at what point do you put a label on
it and say, Okay, there's other guys out there that
might be able to help us more than the guys
in the in the room with us. That has to
change if we're at.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
The point of training camp where the answer is we're
gonna give Jalen Rivers more reps at guard. To Austin's point,
then that speaks to what we've seen down here as
being valid by the coaching staff.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
I think there's two different issues with the Noah Fan comparison.
Like I think we would all agree it would have
been nice to see the Bengals add one more guy.
You know, Brandon Sheriff is the name that everybody's gonna
spit up. There's a reason he's out there, but still
like he's the most I think he's the biggest name
thirty three years old, but the biggest name out there.
I think multiple things can be true. They probably should

(17:22):
have been more aggressive at guard. But no a fan.
I'm not gonna hold it against him that he doesn't
play guard. He was the player who was cut. Now,
if the Noah Fan of guards gets cut by some
other team for salary cap related issues, but then of
course the Bengals should be interested. I don't know that.
I don't know that we have to walk Noah Fan
into the conversation the way many people have. He became available.

(17:44):
He plays a position that the Bengals have tried to
address in the draft without much success recently. Just because
he doesn't play guard doesn't mean he can't bring value
to your team. At the same time, let's be honest, man,
on cutdown day, what are we all going to be
looking for? Which guards are out there? Which dbs are
out there now?

Speaker 2 (18:00):
But do you want to be in protecting Joe Burrow
on cutdown day? Scouring the market? Coil Hernandez just got
clear visit with Arizona.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
But like that's where Dylan Fairchild Thursday Night. Like I
hate to make this comparison, but three years ago, Cordell
Volson on Night one of the preseason won the starting
guard job from Jackson Carmen. Now, unfortunately Cordell Volson has
it played at an extraordinarily high level. But you know
the dude was a fourth round pick from North Dakota State.
Dylan Fairchild, I'm thinking on Thursday Night can effectively win

(18:31):
the guard job. And if he does, you're gonna feel
You're gonna feel better, right, So what I want to
see on Thursday Night is some sort of statement like that, like, dude,
I am a starting caliber guard week one of my room.
If you don't see that, though, it's only going to
amplify the questions that are already sort of caked in.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yep, I think so much about and as Austin just
alluded to, we've talked about it. What sinks the ship
before it even gets off the dock is Joe Burrow
not being healthy. We talk about Super Bowl windows. You
can talk about competing because you talk about the signings
and the extensions and all they've done to the offense
and bringing in Al Golden all means nothing.

Speaker 3 (19:09):
Well, and think about like, let's say our worst fears
get realized Austin on Thursday and the offensive line's a mess. Cool,
and you go, okay, Well, the next preseason game is
in ten days against Washington. We want to play Joe
Burrow some more?

Speaker 4 (19:25):
Yeah, yeah, sure, and it'll be against their starters almost certainly, Yes,
and on a terrible field where there's bad memories with
Joe Burrow before. I want nothing to do with that.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Yeah, plenty more still ago, We're just getting started here
at since he three to sixty. We're live at Bengals
training camp special thanks to Ae Dorian Window. They sell
the best and service the rest. We have some Zach
Taylor we'll get to at one o'clock. We have Joe Daniman,
who's going to join us at two o'clock, end of
the hour. Here, bottom of the hour, Mo's gonna head out.
He'll take over for the Moweger Show. All part of

(19:56):
our expanded Bengals.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
And we have we have training camp update every hour.
That's right from Hall of Famer Tony Pike.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
That's the fam.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
It thinks the Skyline Chili as well on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Hey Alexa, who's on the.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
DM getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
How long we got? The two fish swing?

Speaker 6 (20:26):
A little flare short right center field, it's down for ahead.
Here comes the runner home from bird Freeley will score.
Friedel is hit safely at sixth straight with a go
ahead RBI single of the seventh, three to two.

Speaker 7 (20:39):
Reds.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
What it's satisfying in that right there for TJ.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Friedel. There he was TJ. Friedl domod He's done all
year being a good red, good leadoff batter, Big knock,
big knock for TJ. Friedel. Red's beat the Cubs last night.
Pair that with Cubs loss obviously, Mets loss, Padres loss.
Red's made up some ground last night try to do
it again tonight two more in Chicago against the Cubs,

(21:04):
hopefully with the same result. This is Sincy three to
sixty live from Bengals training camp. Thanks to ae Doran
window they sell the best in service arrest. Also thanks
to Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOTH five one three
five one three toph Oakley Greens. All the sports, all
the time, all at Oakley Greens. We are here at
the Airport Payton Body Quality of Yesterday, Knowledge of the
Day broadcast area, and at some point today we'll go

(21:25):
to the Ray Saint Claire Roofing hotline.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Last night on the TV broadcast Jeff Brantley, who they
called it the Cowboy yes last night. Starting with last
night's game, the Reds had fifty to go and he
said to matth is simple. They have to go thirty
and twenty, which gets into eighty eight wins.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Okay, we can.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Debate whether or not we think this team can win
thirty of its final fifty games. Yeah, do you think
anything shy of that has them on the outside looking in?

Speaker 2 (21:49):
No chance? No, I think that's the starting point.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Eighty eight.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
I agree. I agree. Seeing what these other teams are
doing and seeing where they're trending.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
So over their final fifty games Austin, they're gonna have
to play six excuse me, six hundred baseball.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Yes, all right, probably better than that real quick.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Because it's awesome being able to be down here at
training camp. But there was just one thing missing early
in training camp, when you get here at ten and
you run here a couple hours just what are we
gonna eat? Right? What can we do? And then our guy,
Jim Mooring and the folks at the Holy Grail stepped
up and since then have ushered in some of my
favorite parts of training camp. When we get to that

(22:27):
point where we cross the noon threshold and the hunger
starts to set in, and you know you still got
hours of sinty three sixteen, You've got a show coming
up from three to six. You need some nourishment, the
nourishment provided by the fine folks at the Holy Ground.
That'd be one thing for Jim just to say, hey,
you know, have someone to run this over, but to
deliver it in person shows you the type of person

(22:49):
he is, and it shows you the type of people
that work at the Holy Ground.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
Which is where we will be starting on September the fourteenth.
Wait before every Bengals home game.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Can't wait.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
You guys are doing the preseason game.

Speaker 3 (23:01):
No, no, I'm happy too. I'm available, said, I'd be
happy to do it.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
I'm free to do it. Let's go. But uh, I
don't make those decisions it honestly, it really saves us.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
I might do a Twitter spaces from the Holy Rail.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
All of a sudden, you want to do Twitter spaces Now.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Yeah, I've changed.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
I've changed my mind. Okay, well, you see some of
the best, and you see some of the best do it,
then all of a sudden.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
He inspired today.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I was inspired today and I thought to myself, you
know what, before the one home preseason game, I'm gonna
go to the Holy Grail and eat a Philly cheese steak,
which is what I have in front of me right now,
and do a Twitter spaces just to house it. Preview
that game against the Colts.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
You housed it.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I did.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Austin, we talked about this. I want to get your thought.
We talked about Marius Mims on the show yesterday. But
there's this back and forth of it. Sounds like it's
something Mims is gonna have to deal with ongoing. It's
not something that sounds like it's going to be one
hundred percent healthy. He talked about playing through it. But
then we heard Zach Taylor today say that that Marius
Mims is going to play on Thursday night. Obviously that's

(24:05):
barring any setback that he would receive. But is there
a level of concern because I know offensive Line as
a whole is a concern to me. I thought one
of the most steady factors going into this year was
going to be a Marius Mims. How concerning is what
is transpired over the last forty eight hours, in your opinion,
with a Marius Mims.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
I was more concerned yesterday than I am today. The
way that Zach like quickly and confidently said yes, Amarius
Mims is going to play, that makes me think that
he's being honest that yeah, they're just managing it. They're
not trying to push him too far. It might just
be some soreness or whatever it might be, and they're
kind of trying to balance not overworking Amarus Mims, but

(24:46):
also getting some reps in for some guys in the
event that Amarius goes down like we saw with Jalen Rivers, albeit,
you know, not the best reps in the world. So
I'm less concerned today than I was yesterday. But I'm
still a little bit concerned just because he's got a
history of injuries, a history of missing games. And it
was pretty good, pretty good last year for the Bengals,

(25:07):
but still was banged up at times.

Speaker 2 (25:09):
I would need to talk to someone more associated with
the offensive line. But if I'm thinking right tackle and
I'm thinking of help on the inside, if it was
my left hand, maybe that helps a little a little bit.
If I'm thinking of my right hand, which it is
for Mims, that's where you got guys coming off the edge,
and that's where you're punching and using that more violent

(25:29):
use of your arm. That's the only part of it
that concerns me. If it's if it's an issue that
you've got to miss a couple of practices here and there,
what happens in the game when Miles Garrett is coming
at your right shoulder, how are you going to be
able to punch and stop and stun that movement from
Miles Garrett? Because that's what you got to do, is
you've got to You've got to be able to retain

(25:50):
a defender going to one hundred miles an hour at
you with just a punch and to stunt that movement,
And that, to me is where I get concerned about it.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
I still feel like they're acting with such caution with
other players on the team that it would suggest to
you that a Marius Moms is probably okay, because there's
gonna be a whole bunch of guys who are sitting
out on defense as they work their way back. I
a Marius Moms is a really big part of this team.

(26:23):
I think I don't think they're acting irresponsibly here. Look,
he may playing in the first nap of the game.
He hurts his hand and the Bengals are going to
take the criticism that comes with it, But I think
the fact that they're playing him tells you he's They're
not doing.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
That or they really need to get reps.

Speaker 3 (26:40):
A preseason game. This is a this is a staff
and a team that when it comes to the preseason
has historically exercised an abundance of caution. So I'm going
to defer to that when it comes to a Marius Moms.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
What do you think this machine in front of us
is doing right? Now. I think they're errating the field,
because if you get to a golf hose and they
just air rated, that's not a sight. You want to
say this.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
They got some time now, right, Yeah, it's going to
be a week until they're back on the field.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Yeah, travel tomorrow, game, Thursday, off day, Friday.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Well, Saturday, Sunday, and practice.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
I think might be in the might be.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
I couldn't. I didn't know if they had.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
I think they're here.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Okay, they'll utilize the bubble.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
That's still though, that's plenty of time.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Yeah, they're air rating this baby right now. Let's air
rate h A E R A T E would be
my guest.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
I don't know. I was just I was asking you.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
I kind of want to get Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Listen, we've got we've got the end of today and
we've got three more times down here. At some point,
I'm gonna bring the ball out of the car and
we're gonna we're gonna toss a little bit.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
I got my clubs in my car, get them. Can
I hit some.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Here? Your golf game has improved.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
It's still not good.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
You've played it, but you play enough.

Speaker 4 (27:56):
I do you play a lot?

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Yeah? I like it. Okay, it's fun.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
I like it. I like goffee, playing golf, golfs.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Fact, the fact that I'm sitting here in a football
field thinking about golf, thinking about hitting air rait and
greens some webshots. End zone would tell.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
You, like, how's the short game? Is that? What needs
to must work?

Speaker 3 (28:16):
It lacks finesse, you know, Yeah, it's a bullet of
china shop. Still.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Yeah. My brother celebrated his thirtieth birthday this weekend and asked,
you know, for the birthday, I just wanted, let's get
together with my dad and another brother, let's go play eighteen. Yeah,
And I said, all right, mornings are easier for me.
Sure he got the six thirty t times. So that's
a that's a long afternoon and a tough round to

(28:41):
get up and get going for, because then you don't
get to the course, like you're not gonna wake up
and get there earlier. So then you don't do anything
on the range, you don't put any you just get
up to the first team. You have no idea what's
going to happen with the sun coming up? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Did your brother get mad that his thirtieth birthday was
overshadowed by your absolutely.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Yeah, we celebrated that later in the night after everyone
got a nap. We celebrated that post golf nap. Yeah,
here's what I gotta do though, Speaking of golf, when
we come back, folks have been waiting to get Moe's
happy Gilmour to review. Can we take a few moments
when we get back, sure and get that end next?
Absolutely on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Here on

(29:19):
the home of the Bengals.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Moegar.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Let's pretend that today is the day after the Bengals,
the voice of the Tri State sports fan have just
won the Super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (29:29):
Moeger Today at three on ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Thirty, what's going on in the NFL?

Speaker 7 (29:36):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Welcome back since E three to sixty. You're listening on
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, Live here at Bengals
training camp, thanks to our friends at a door and window.
This will run up to three o'clock and then Moegar
on The Moegar Show will take over at three. I
know Mo's got Paul Danner Junior. Today, We'll have Joe
Danaman at two o'clock. We've got Zach Taylor's press conference
that he held before practice today. That'll happen, will air

(30:05):
that at one o'clock. But Mo's only with us here
for about fifteen minutes or so before he heads out,
and I have to ask because we've not got to
it yet, right, And I've not even asked you off
air because I just wanted to get this on air.
People have been waiting, have they, for your Happy Gilmore
two breakdown? Because you know, I was in the stance

(30:29):
of it. It is exactly what I thought it was
going to be. It's what I expected a Happy Gilmour
movie to be. Others, specifically Joe Daneman, was adamant that
it wasn't that. So your thoughts on Happy Gilmore too.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
So Happy Gilmore one not exactly high brow filmmaking. No,
I don't know that we need to go back and
rehash the plot of Happy Gilmore one. But it is absurd,
So I like absurdity. Comedies that are absurd are funny.
Happy Gilmore is one of the defining comedies of my

(31:05):
like late teens, early twenties. It's in the top ten
of movies I've seen the most. Absolutely, I didn't exactly
expect you know, Casablanca. I wasn't. I didn't exactly think
Happy Gilmore Too was gonna be like the next version
Golf's version of The Godfather. Yeah, not looking for high
brow filmmaking. That's one of the worst movies I've.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Ever heard, rocious. How much that is that is abysmal?
How much were you immediately put off when Virginia passed?

Speaker 3 (31:32):
So this is what that told me. That they went
to Julie Bowen and said, we've got a script for
Happy Gilmore Too. We want you in it. And she's like, yeah, okay.
She read the script and she's like, I'll give you
a day and a half. So they they Julie Bowen,
you know who's gone on to bigger and brighter things
since Happy Gilmour won. When this said to the Adam

(31:53):
Sandler like all right, fine, I will be in it.
I will give you a day and a half. So
do what you got to do with me? He said like, well,
I guess we got to kill her. Like that could
have been a ten minute YouTube video like with I
mean it was.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Were you impressed with anyone's performance? No, I was Travis
Kelcey and his acting Travis Kelsey was pretty good. First
of all, what about Bad Bunny? Did you like?

Speaker 3 (32:14):
Bad Bad Bunny was a high point of the film.
So all these golfers make cameos, right, Haley Joel Osmond's
in the film for some reason. And then like the
other cameos are people I've never heard of, so it
makes no impact with me.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Yeah, like that could have been one of the most.

Speaker 3 (32:28):
It could have been like just a ten minute YouTube video.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
One of the most bizarre cameos was eminem Yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (32:33):
Then MS in the movie.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, what's he doing?

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Detroit? And alligators are It's just you have to watch.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
I mean, it feels like every Adam Sandler movie now
is how many of my friends can I get into
the movie? How many this film?

Speaker 3 (32:48):
His daughter of the film? His daughter is in the film?
Verluon quiz? That was pretty cool. Yeah, Like I did
appreciate that the film is taking some jabs that live golf, right,
Like I I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
I thought Scotty Shuffler's part was funny, very well, leaning
into getting arrested, but like the event itself was awful.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
So number one, I don't need all the flashbacks to
Happy Gilmore one. Yeah, like, if you're watching two, you
knew what happened to I remember the tall guy with
the nail in his head, right, don't. We don't need
to go back. I remember the jackass guy right like,
and then like everybody who died, we just account for
them in the film by putting in their son that
it was atrocious, and again like it's Happy Gilmore. I'm

(33:31):
not expecting Like I mean, did I chuckle a handful
of times? Sure?

Speaker 2 (33:35):
I did? Yeah, but hold you won't be rewatching well
the last.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Like twenty minutes, it was like, watch, I don't want
to watch AI stuff. I don't watch superhero movies because
I'm not interested in AI. So we're doing this thing
on the last the seventeenth hole where we're playing on ice,
and then Bad Money and Adam Sandler are trying to
play this game of balance and.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
They're playing on ice one of the holes.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Yeah, I just obviously Happy Gilmore one was not a
realistic script, but it was more realistic than what I
watched the other night. And Happy Gilmore too, He's atrocious.
That's one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
What do you mean they're playing on ice?

Speaker 2 (34:12):
Like the premise is is that this new golf league
comes in poking fun at live and they're taking some
of the top golfers and in order to essentially squash
this league, the PGA players have to beat them at
their own game. And it's like a seven hole course.
In each hole is like gimmicky o. One is like

(34:32):
six hundred yards long, another's one thousand yards long, the
other one is ice.

Speaker 4 (34:36):
Yeah, it's just that sounds really stupid.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Again, the best I almost think Sailor now is like,
you know what, I'm just gonna see what I can.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
Good for him, I would say.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
And if I put all these celebrities in it, they're
gonna push it and then regardless of what happens, people
are going to view it.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
You could have put Happy Gilmore in a ten minute
YouTube video with all those golfers and like the son
of the guy with the nail in his head and
the son of the jackass guy and the son of Chubbs,
and made a ten to fifteen minute short on YouTube.
We all would have chuckled. Instead, I gave that bad
boy two hours of my life. And it's again, my
expectations were not high. I didn't think i'd be getting

(35:12):
a masterclass in filmmaking. I thought I'd get a couple
of laughs, I'd get reacquainted with these characters. The most
accomplished actor in that film said, I'll give you a
day and a half, like when they killed Julie Bowen.
And I'm sorry if I'm spoiling this for anybody. And
I know she makes later on like you could tell
she's like, Adam, I love you. I want no part

(35:33):
of like a twenty eight day film shoot with this
piece of crap. Please kill me in the first five
minutes and then I'll do whatever you want in the
most ridiculous way possible for the next eighteen hours. I'm
on set. But do it now.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Spoiler spoiler alert, How did she die?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Adam Sandler hits her with a drive on mother's dead.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Oh my god killed her.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
She looked wonderful, she looked great. She has not aged
hardly at all.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
And then Adam like has gone from this golf career
and he's living in a shanty, essentially got a shed.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
I understand, Like there was some deep commentary on, like
you hit that certain age of life, you're out your
you're having a hard time grieving. Sure you turn into alcohol, like,
I get it. There was some sort of commentary on that.
I'm not sure what it was.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Also like no love interest, No, which is abnormal for
Adam Sandler, Right, I normally cuts the hottest woman alive
is his love interest?

Speaker 2 (36:28):
Right?

Speaker 3 (36:28):
I thought because his wife plays the dance instructor, yeave
with her, he was gonna fall in love with his wife. Instead,
the dance instructor goes away after like two scenes.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Yeah, I mean the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
Was predictable, Like I'm watching it with my wife and
I'm like, Shooter mcgavan's gonna end up playing a role
in this seven hole golf tournament.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
He was fine in his role.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
He was fine it It just, hey, let's just get
as many cameos as we can. Is not for me
a formula of making a fun movie, making a good movie.
It wasn't good at all.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
Danimon's gonna join us at too. If Joe was able
to listen to that segment, this is probably the happiest
Joe you can tell him.

Speaker 3 (37:05):
I can again like I went into it wanting to
love it.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
I went into it, Yeah, and you want to do
it with low actual film expectations.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
I was not expecting a fat storylines. But this is
the barometer of a movie for me. With thirty minutes
to go, am, I just am? I starting to hit
the button that tells me how much time is left.
And that's what I was doing. With about forty five
minutes to go, I was hitting that button, going, Okay,
do I really want to see how this ends?

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:33):
Watch forward like a great movie, not even a great movie,
a fun movie, one that keeps me engaged. I'm never
hitting that button. I hit that button about five times
last Wednesday or Thursday, whenever I watched it. I mean, like,
all right now the twenty two minutes? Boy, can can
we wrap this thing up?

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:50):
It wasn't good. It wasn't good at all.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Fair, it's fair. We're gonna wrap this up when we
come back. Our number one Moe's gonna take off. After that.
We'll get some Zach Taylor, have talkbacks, Joe Daneman, some
phone calls as well. Those will come on the Race
Saint Claire Roofing Hotline. This is since he three sixty
on ESPN, fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
Station and fifteen thirty and iHeartRadio station.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Yeah, welcome back. Since he three sixty hour number one
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, Live here from Bengals
training camp. All we're at the practice fields. Training camp
is done. They'll board a plane tomorrow. They'll play Philly
on Thursday. But a special addition thanks to AE Door
and Window. Also thanks to Cincinnati tax resolution and TOF
five one three five on three toph Oakley Greens as well.

(38:36):
We're here at the airport Peyton Body Broadcast areas. We
are just getting showered with grass clippings.

Speaker 3 (38:42):
It's good for the allergies.

Speaker 2 (38:43):
It's great for the allergies. And uh, we only got
a few minutes left here in the hour. You're gonna
head north. So before we do that, let's do something
we haven't done. Okay, let's together go to the race
Saint Claire roofing hotline, where I believe we have Mic
standing by.

Speaker 9 (38:55):
Hi, Mike, Oh, hold on, hold on, well, Tony, Mike, Hi, Tony.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
You got you got bow and I here. We're we're doubled.
We're tag team in this, me too and Austin.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
Austin.

Speaker 9 (39:11):
Things are one sideways here for a second. I'm sorry,
I didn't really expect to hear Cisco and Ebert reincarnated today.
That was pretty interesting.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Yeah, you comes up, one comes down.

Speaker 7 (39:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (39:29):
I know one thing. Adam Samuer got his start on
Saturday Night Live. And he has one funny dude when
he wants to be And all he does is make
movies and go cast millions of dollars.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
And he takes and he takes care of his friends
in those movies as well.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
And he's made some films where he's like played a
dramatic role. He's quite good.

Speaker 2 (39:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (39:49):
Yeah. Dan Patrick's been probably in almost every other one.
And a really good basketball player. He's we played against
each other. He was at Hamilton's. I believe he was
at Hamilton's hamp when I was at Lakota.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
He's also one of the top fifteen or so broadcasters
who attended the University of Dayton.

Speaker 9 (40:14):
Yeah, I would say, I would say he might have
a leg up on you.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
They're big boy, apparently apparently close close.

Speaker 9 (40:23):
Close, it's real close. So the offensive line is a major,
major worry and everybody will stay up all nine going well,
Joe end up. I remember I was saying this a
few years ago. If that cart comes out, we are
gone though.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
Mmm.

Speaker 9 (40:40):
Your comments, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Yeah, I mean that that's that's the one thing that
puts a stop to all of this. It doesn't matter
the Jamar Chase contract. It doesn't matter to Higgins, it
doesn't matter Trey Hendrickson's contract or lack thereof. It doesn't
matter what the super Bowl window is. If the cart
is on the field, then then they're They're out.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
And I know you could say that about a lot
of teams, right, but how many of the those teams
have a quarterback with the injury history of Joe Burrow
playing behind a not good offensive line. How many of
those teams watched their quarterback on the run and get
a hit as offen as Joe Burrow last year? Like
it's it's the lowest of all low hanging fruits, right, Like,
if your quarterback gets hurt, if you have a franchise

(41:17):
guy and he has to miss a lot of time,
you're no longer a championship contender. I could say that
about the Bills, the Ravens, I could say it about
the Chiefs. I could say it perhaps about the Philadelphia Eagles,
But in none of those other circumstances. Has the offensive
line for a decade, since well before Joe Burrow was
drafted for a decade, been a not just a question mark,

(41:38):
but been a genuine liability.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Since I've been coming to training camp and covering that
O line's been a question mark.

Speaker 9 (41:44):
Just a miracle that they made the Super Bowl with
that line back when we got there and almost won
the damn thing, an absolute miracle.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
I've launched the times that starting lineup again and I
can't I can't find that was the starting offensive line
for a.

Speaker 9 (41:58):
Super Bowl telling you, and they even made fun of
it nationally just before the game. It was that's what
made it so incredible what Joe did that day, and
and and the guys who work pretty good. But I'll
tell you one thing now, I've been listening to some
of this Tampa sports talk lately and uh with with
Godwin and and Evans, and they are so high on

(42:19):
a Beca. I can't even tell you how high they
are that yep, and that's gonna be the best white
out trio in the league because you ain't got anybody.
We ain't got anybody after Higgins, so they're going to
be dangerous. Man. I don't know what Baker can do.
You think Baker can get the job done?

Speaker 2 (42:39):
I love I love what Baker has been. I think
it's going to be interesting now that their offensive coordinator
is the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. I think
it's gonna take some growing pains, but but I don't
expect that offense and that team to miss abeat, especially
in a very winnable division.

Speaker 3 (42:52):
Who in Tampa have you been listening to Mike? And
when have you been listening to them?

Speaker 9 (42:56):
Uh? Sometimes while you're on. I listened to him a
little bit talking about the guy's name is Uh, it's
a Polish guy. I forget his last name. He's been
there for years on. Yeah, well yeah, I've heard him
with guys, but no, it's not them. Oh you know
the guy I'm talking about. He's a Polish guy. For

(43:19):
a Polish guy from New York. Hell, I can't remember.
But he has mentioned you on.

Speaker 7 (43:27):
He's mentioned you, Okay, has he? Yeah?

Speaker 9 (43:31):
They're I'll tell him that you don't remember him? No?

Speaker 3 (43:33):
No, well when when Like when you refer to me
and you can't remember my name, do you refer to
me as the Swiss guy?

Speaker 10 (43:39):
Like?

Speaker 11 (43:40):
What?

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Why is it? Polish guy? What you get? What you
remember about it?

Speaker 7 (43:46):
The egg man.

Speaker 9 (43:47):
That's how I remember refer to you the egg man.
That's just very easy. I'll shut up now. I'm driving
everybody boring to death. I'll see you later by thanks.

Speaker 2 (43:56):
Good to hear from your thanks. That's the race and
rooping hot one, that's how we're gonna end.

Speaker 4 (44:02):
What is this?

Speaker 2 (44:04):
This cart has gone over the same place four times
now and just continues to spray stuff all over our desk.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
You think that's unintentional? Kind of looks like former Bengals
defensive coordinator Paul Gunter driving that thing. To Paul g.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
He's probably a better driver than he was a coordinator.
That guy's stunk man.

Speaker 2 (44:20):
That's a good way to pause. Right there. We got

(45:43):
Moegger is headed north, I'm here, Austin is still here
and UH. Before today's practice at pay Corps across the
field from pay Corp Stadium, which I don't even know
if we consider much of a practice, Zach Taylor did
spend some time speaking to the media, starting with who
is and who is not going to be playing on
Thursday night right now.

Speaker 13 (46:02):
On defense, Dax Hill and came Taylor Britt, we'll hold
those guys out. They're progressing really well. Dak's coming off
the injury. Cam's just really been day to day with
our stuff. There's no reason to put him out there
for this game. So them, along with Trey Hendrickson and
j Hill up front, Seda Johnson as well up front,
he'll be out as well. So those guys at Marco
Wilson another corner who will be out this week. So defensively,

(46:26):
I think that pretty well covers it. Offensively, who will
be out? Let me think for a second.

Speaker 14 (46:35):
Matt Lee.

Speaker 13 (46:37):
Obviously, you guys have seen him just slowly work his
way back into practice, so we'll keep him out for
this game. Mikes, he will be out for this game.

Speaker 14 (46:44):
Yeah, yep, is that serious now? It's right now? He
would be out this week.

Speaker 13 (46:49):
I think it'd be questionable if we were playing a
game Sunday, a real football game, he'd be working back
to play in that game. So I think that's the
best way to phrase the status right now is he
was optimistic that if we were playing a real game
this this weekend, he'd be able to go, So we'll
continue to manage him, whether that means we'll we'll gear
him back up next week, We're gonna be really protective
with Mike. And it also coincides with Noah getting back

(47:11):
in the mix here, so well, it's a great opportunity
for Noah to get some reps in there and integrate
him in the offense and also give Mike a chance
to fully recover.

Speaker 15 (47:21):
Dax to at some point get him into Against three season.

Speaker 13 (47:24):
Yeah, again, I'm not I'm not one firm on that
has to happen. I think Dax has had a really
good camp with the things we've asked him to do.
We're going to continue to make sure that he's we're
putting him in the best environment to be fully healthy
for Cleveland week one. So I'd love to get to
the point where where maybe we get him that opportunity,
but I don't think that's set in stone that we're

(47:45):
going to maine it that that has happened.

Speaker 16 (47:46):
I'll get you.

Speaker 13 (47:50):
A lot of flexibility. He's been majoring in the slot
a little bit more, but he's got that outside flex
because we obviously we saw him play that a lot
last year. So I think Dax is a really good
chess pie's for us where he can major in a
lot of different areas, but he's been playing mostly in
the slot when he's been out in the team periods.

Speaker 7 (48:07):
Zach, are you willing to share the extent of what
Joe might play Joe Burrow on Thursday?

Speaker 13 (48:12):
Well, see, you know this won't be we don't have
this target is the biggest playtime for all of our guys.
We really pegged Washington to be a little more of that.
So again, another thing I hate to put in stone
a couple series, several series, several series, is what we'll
give those starters.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
What do you hope to get out of those likes
the first time they've really been other Sensibly, what are
you hoping to.

Speaker 14 (48:36):
Get out of that game atmosphere?

Speaker 13 (48:38):
So, going on the road like we are a week one,
we do have a road primetime game early in the season,
so the flights are on, You're in a road environment.

Speaker 14 (48:47):
That's great.

Speaker 13 (48:47):
Getting everybody off the field, you know, as much as
we practice it and do it, it's not the same feel.
So I think just just those eleven guys being in
the huddle on both sides of the ball and all
the communications got occur, so it's just a good opportunity
for those guys to get some additional reps. He's good, Yeah,
he's just managed through. It's training camp. It'd be different
if this was a game week in terms of how
we'd handle him. So there's been times we've been pushing

(49:10):
him and pulling him back, but I'm encouraged by everything
we're seeing from him.

Speaker 14 (49:16):
Yes, that's the point.

Speaker 17 (49:17):
And you're saying, coach of the big play time tagging Washington.

Speaker 13 (49:22):
That's how we That's how we have laid it out. Again,
it's a long time from now to Washington. I think
we've got, you know, from a Thursday to a Monday,
so however many days that is. So again we're we're
flexible with how the plans can change there, but right
now that would be more of a target for us.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
You're looking at Fairchild as a starter.

Speaker 18 (49:41):
Would he be with all the starters that come out
after a couple of series or do you want to
see more of us?

Speaker 13 (49:46):
We'll balance that week one. We've got a pretty clear
plan on on just keeping him in with that group.
But again, over the course of training camp, if we
deem we like a rookie to get some more time
or second year player that maybe requires more time than
we're open to doing.

Speaker 7 (49:59):
That, and that when that smelled this lot.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
Have you seen those guys who have been on the outside.

Speaker 13 (50:03):
I think there's no reason to like the depth chart
that goes out. I try to express the guys like
this is just this is meaningless towards their competition. You
have to put something on papers. But don't hold me
to any of that, because I think the battles at
Corner right now have been outstanding. I think some guys

(50:25):
have had some excellent days. You can go through and say, well,
that guy should be a started, that guy should be
a start. I mean, it's been really good battles. I
feel really good about our depth of there right now.
And as we all know, a corner or like depth
is critical because those guys are all going to be
starters at some point. So I feel really good about
the development of that room and the competition that room.

Speaker 7 (50:45):
Really good.

Speaker 13 (50:46):
Again, DJ is when I'm making this general statement, DJ
is a big part of that. I think DJ Ivy,
DJ turned all those guys you know have done a
really good job competing and doing what'll wrestling do is.

Speaker 18 (50:57):
That just to clarify when you said several series for
this artists in the preseason, this game.

Speaker 13 (51:02):
Washington game, this game. You know, it's this one really
give or take, you're really looking. I'm going to define
it for you the first quarter, but it's given to
I mean, it could be a long possession that eats
utmost the first quarter. You want to get in another one.
So it's just I've always been in these preseis situations.
You're careful to say what I just said because it
could go into the second quarter because of reps we've gotten.

(51:25):
But right now, that's that's about the target period we've got.

Speaker 2 (51:27):
Now that he.

Speaker 18 (51:27):
Signed, practice a few times how you envision.

Speaker 13 (51:32):
I think he's done a good job picking it up
with James. And so now the goal was to get
him through this game. So Noah's a guy is not
going to play in this game. Okay, so I didn't
say his name because I was thinking injuries, But Noah
won't play in this game. And then once we get
back he's fully integrated. Now let's see how we can
utilize him and continue to let him grow in our system.

(51:53):
And part of it is because just not seeing him
in football pads and run around.

Speaker 14 (51:57):
We didn't want to make.

Speaker 13 (51:58):
Sure we were putting him in a bad spot physically.
So now once we get through this game, he'll be
full go and has a couple extra days so learn
the insults and stuff.

Speaker 14 (52:05):
I'm really excited about it.

Speaker 13 (52:06):
And he's embraced everything we've we've put at him from
mental standpoint. Excited to see that the physical stuff he
has done on the field and routes on Aaron Group
install and some of the walkthrough stuff we did yesterday,
he did a good job comprehending and so now the
next step is just fully integrating him with the offense.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
What do you like what you see from Taj Brooks.

Speaker 14 (52:23):
I think he's got really good vision.

Speaker 13 (52:25):
He's he's got a good understanding of our protections, which
is gonna come at any young running back, especially in
his preseason games. That part can really expose you. So
he's done a good job understanding the technique we want,
what his what his assignments are. He's had some really
good runs for us. He's got really good vision. Once
he gets past last scrimmage and it acquires him to
kind of make that second level read. I've seen really

(52:47):
good things from Taj, and we're excited about him.

Speaker 14 (52:48):
Him and Chase seem to have some similarities.

Speaker 3 (52:50):
Why do y'all like that style of that this offense.

Speaker 13 (52:53):
Well, I don't think you always pinpoint yourself in the
draft on we're taking this style of back. Taj was
just a guy we really liked where we were at
in the draft, and so I wouldn't say we're trying
to get two like bodies there. I think Taj can
excel in all three phases of offense and can be
a special teams contributor for us. So he can excel

(53:14):
in the run game. He's got good hands in the
past game, and I think he's a good enough protector
to help us out there.

Speaker 14 (53:18):
So that's really what we look at. It's not as
similarity it's just to Chase.

Speaker 13 (53:23):
It's more just we think he can play all three
of those rules for us.

Speaker 18 (53:28):
Maybe the pace of practice change once you get in
preseason game mode, or does it develop.

Speaker 13 (53:33):
For today like leading up to the game. It changes
today's pace of practice a little bit different. It's a
little bit more of a little longer of a end
season Friday mindset for us, where we do start to
gear back a little bit in terms of the physicality.
So in terms of a competitive period today there's really
only two and normally half four. And then there's some

(53:54):
stuff as we just start to introduce our guys to
what to expect from Philly.

Speaker 14 (53:59):
For we c.

Speaker 13 (54:03):
Physical, physical, and disruptive. You know, those are the two
biggest things. And so again that that's a tremendous starting
point for a young player to come in there and
not be tentative. I would say that I'd use the
opposite word for him, whatever the opposite of not the
opposite of tentative is, I'll let you go ahead, and.

Speaker 14 (54:23):
Whatever term you want to use there.

Speaker 13 (54:24):
Yeah, disruptive, aggressive, violent, I've seen all that stuff from schmore.

Speaker 18 (54:28):
How nice is play and how is he grasping the
offers your next start and how is he grasping.

Speaker 14 (54:34):
Desmond's in a realiant job right off the gate.

Speaker 13 (54:36):
I thought Desmond really did a good job getting with
Brad kaik Thorpe and learning the system and.

Speaker 14 (54:43):
Really impressed with how quickly he's picked it up.

Speaker 13 (54:45):
And so again Jake playing a healthy amount of the
rest of the game when Joe comes out, and then
Desmond getting a chance to get whatever's left over there
that would be the plan for him. How valuable versatility
being able to put him all across the critical you know,
that was one of the biggest things Al and Jerry
liked about his game, was the versatility moving all the
way down the line of scrimmage, all three downs. And

(55:09):
so I think that those guys are harder to find
than than you think. You know, that that have true
versatility to be able to do all that stuff, And
that's exciting for the flexibility of our defense to have
a guy that's able to play all those different roles.

Speaker 17 (55:20):
How curious are you to see finally the guards guard
positions shape.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
Out in a game.

Speaker 13 (55:27):
It's good just to just to face different types of guys,
different said defense structure, just just something different to go against.
And so I think just the different bodies that will
go against will be good to watch. So it'll be
exciting to watch those guards plays.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
What is about the most to you about those two
positions in.

Speaker 14 (55:47):
Camp so far?

Speaker 13 (55:48):
Those two guard positions. Yeah, it's it's still an ongoing competition.
I like Dylan sothleticism. You know, we're just talking about
left guard, so I think he can you can see
the wrestling background you can see the physicality he plays with.
He's able to recover if things don't go well, You're
able to see the recoverability that really helps him get
through the down. And I think there's been a good

(56:08):
competition right guard, you know, right now, between Cody and Lucas.
Lucas obviously had the set back early in camp. Now
he's gotten back into it. I thought he's looked good
the last couple of days, and so we'll just continue
to let that play on.

Speaker 18 (56:18):
When you're making the wild decisions of the camp or
decisions about competitions, how much are you going to use
a preseason table when they do out there to make
those decisions.

Speaker 14 (56:27):
It's all a combination.

Speaker 11 (56:28):
You know.

Speaker 13 (56:28):
Some guys will really put their best foot forward when
we get out there in the game. Then you get
a chance to take a broader look at them as
you get back into practice and maybe put them in
different positions to feel out more of the picture. And
then you come back and you play another game and
you get a chance to put them in situations. So
I think the preseason games do matter. When the lights
come on, how do you guys perform, how do they communicate?

Speaker 14 (56:49):
Did they get tired? When they got tired, did they
get lazy?

Speaker 13 (56:53):
All those traits we're looking for in our players to
be able to push through all that will show up
in the preseason games. As he's been watching the very
active and how he's kind of interest for the younger guys.

Speaker 2 (57:03):
How much you have that? What's it like to kind
of see that?

Speaker 14 (57:05):
It's good?

Speaker 13 (57:05):
That's expectation, you know, for him being a veteran player,
being able to come in and passed on the knowledge
that he's gotten from his own experience from past players,
that I've given him that knowledge. I appreciate that he's
out there helping these young guys get better.

Speaker 18 (57:20):
All these rookies obviously have a lot on their plate,
but art also with the green dot?

Speaker 2 (57:25):
How much more tax thing is that for a young guy?
And how have you seen him with his command with.

Speaker 13 (57:30):
I think he's only gotten better every day. I think
that he's got a lot of upside. Been really pleased
with how all the linebackers have developed. Really, I think
that's a that's a room where there's been a ton
of competition. There's been a ton of rolls up for
grab grabs. I'm not just talking about active roster spots.
I'm talking about practice squad spots, and I think every
linebacker we have has gotten better as as this camp

(57:53):
has progressed, and that's put us in a really good
position there in that room. I think my college has
done a great job of coming in there and helping
develop the guys.

Speaker 18 (58:01):
Jalen rivers what you've seen from him, and you kind
of view him as the swing tackle right now.

Speaker 13 (58:07):
I think it's very much up in the air for
what his role is going to be for us. I've
been I've been really pleased with the progress that he's made.
We had really high expectations for him when he came
in and he's really done a good job being those expectations.
And the difficult part for him as he came in
and got settled in a left tackle, then with throw
him over to right tackle, and so he's just got
to be ready to move around and that's.

Speaker 14 (58:28):
The part that he'll continue to adjust to.

Speaker 13 (58:30):
But from a from a mental standpoint, he's been outstanding.
From a physical standpoint, there's been some things that we
are really really liking about Jalen and continue to give
him more opportunities to.

Speaker 14 (58:42):
Showcase what he's able to do for us. Over the
course of training him.

Speaker 18 (58:44):
I feel like some rookie classes seem like they have
a general attitude about them or something that they bring
to the two that this.

Speaker 14 (58:52):
Group of rookies football IQ, football i Q.

Speaker 13 (58:55):
I think the football a qu and the leadership in
this group is outstanding top to bottom. It's talking about
undrafted guys too, like this undrafted group is really good,
especially some guys that have really caught our attention in
this group. So I really pleased with the job the
scouts did, the work the coaches have put in to
bring in this group because I think it's really made

(59:16):
us a better football team.

Speaker 4 (59:17):
Rare is that football IQ for rookies to be a
thing that you start with. I mean, that seems that's
not necessarily normal.

Speaker 9 (59:23):
All right.

Speaker 13 (59:23):
So that's that's guys that a lot of them were
captains of their schools. A lot of them stuck it out,
you know, for the three four or five years they
were in college, consistency in the same program, which is
one of the challenges when you bounce around. I've been there,
I've went to three colleges. When you bounce around, you
start over in a lot of ways, and so you
miss some ground level stuff that that coach as soon

(59:47):
as you learned at that school and you didn't. I
always tell the story I went through my senior year
in stretch. The dB coach Nebraskurck come talk to me,
does this team fire zone a lot? And I was
like a little bit, you know, yeah, a little bit
like fifteen twenty per I didn't know what fire zone meant.

Speaker 14 (01:00:05):
Because everyone just assumed I knew what it meant.

Speaker 13 (01:00:07):
So I just had to bs my way through stretch
every week for twelve weeks with Phil machen while he
asked me about fire zone. That was what he loved
to talk about. And I didn't know the definition of
fire zone, and so I was just trying to I
always tell that story to quarterback stuff coach, like, don't
assume any question you're asking is a dumb question. We
might say the word cloud over and over again. They

(01:00:28):
don't know that means cover two. So sometimes you have
to define that and you have to make sure your
players are open to asking that question and they don't
feel dumb for asking a question that maybe they just
didn't learn at their high school or their college where
they transferred. So many times it was assume they knew it.
So I don't even know what got me on this
tangent right now, but it's whatever you said just got
me going here a little bit. But I'll just end

(01:00:50):
it awkwardly because I don't I don't even know why that.

Speaker 16 (01:00:53):
Was versus yeah, vision maybe getting bus building, that's a possibility,
I think as we've gotten through these first two weeks,
sometimes with the maris being out, you know for a
couple of days, that put us in a position where
we got a chance to look at.

Speaker 14 (01:01:09):
Him a right tackle.

Speaker 13 (01:01:10):
But I I certainly would not take that off the
table that he's going to have a chance to move
around even more.

Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
Why does it not her development then in that case?

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Or does that impact development in terms of white water treasures?

Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
Like obviously you were able to pick it up and
find a Nebraska, but you know, why does that How
is that such a big impact when if guys just
don't sit.

Speaker 13 (01:01:29):
Well, it's hard because you want to play and and yeah,
you want to compete, but for quarterbacks the writing is
on the wall sometimes like barring injury, I'm not I'm
my whole college career is going to end and I
might not get a chance to step on the field,
regardless of how hard I worked. And so there's only
one quarterback that walks on the field unless you play
at Princeton like ten years ago and they played three

(01:01:49):
at one time, only one goes on the field. So
it's just, uh, sometimes you transfer because you just don't
want to waste another year.

Speaker 14 (01:01:58):
It's hard.

Speaker 13 (01:01:59):
And so again that's when I talk about all these
transfers like that was me. So I understand it as
well as anybody. But it's just sometimes you got to
make a decision do I do I jump now, or
do I play this thing out and hope someone gets
hurt or hope I physically develop even more where I
can beat that guy out.

Speaker 14 (01:02:15):
That's that's a tough pill to s fall sometimes, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
So that is some really good and really insightful stuff
from Zach Taylor that happened right before the Bengals took
the practice field today. One man, I lived the conversation
he was going through about you know, fire zone blitzes
and just kind of going with it because you don't
want to sound like you're stupid, you you know you

(01:02:40):
you want to have that coach assume, Okay, he knows
what he's talking about. So you just go along with
it and then you end up getting further and further
and farther behind it is. It's an incredible uh, incredible
time and incredible ask. But uh, that was that was
really insightful. I thought, obviously what stood out there as
the plan that is in Thursday night, I believe you

(01:03:01):
said what several series for Joe Burrow and some of
the starters on offense.

Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
Yeah, on building up towards an even bigger workload on
the second preseason game against Washington, where they expect that
to be the most they play. And I don't think
anybody expects them to play very much at all in
that third game against Indy. If they do, maybe a
play or a series.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Yeah, but gearing up for the Washington game where they're
going to play more is I guess a good thing.
But I also echo the same conversation you and Mohead
in our number one that there does come an uneasiness
with this because of what we've seen from the offensive
line at this point.

Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
It doesn't it feel because we're so used to training
camp in the preseason being so difficult and dragged out
and frustrating and injuries and questions. I mean, the trade thing.
People don't really seem to be that worried about it,
to be honest, it doesn't feel like much of a

(01:04:04):
distraction yet, and so I'm kind of just like looking around, like, Okay,
something bad gonna happen. I don't know how to handle
a normal training camp because we just haven't seen that
hardly at all. So I need That's what I'm worried about.
Like I'm worried about the other shoe dropping, like Moe
talking about the Reds. You're waiting for the rugby pulled

(01:04:25):
out from underneath you. It's kind of how I feel
about the Bengals. I don't want to feel that way,
but I'm just gonna be holding my breath for all
three of these preseason games.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Yep. It feels like that, while also trying to get
a lot out of them, especially on the defensive side
of the ball and what we've talked about up front
with the offensive line. It is since he three sixty,
which means when we come back. Your talkbacks are next
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnatis Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (01:04:52):
Yeah you know why you good loud oh Wold too.

Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
Had to do it with Harry today.

Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
Come on to some tow backs left.

Speaker 19 (01:05:08):
Listen to the clowns, get me a budant surprick Kirk Jonas,
We hope those other two divert come back over its
room totly GoF and comes close to the show we

(01:05:31):
got hacked right, Hello.

Speaker 7 (01:05:35):
The stars over t.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Shine rights wild right.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Come on, come on, Harry, Yeah, come on, Harry.

Speaker 20 (01:05:49):
Greg Sharonville, you know the stats that jump out of me.

Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
On Sunday's game.

Speaker 20 (01:05:55):
At Bristol, the Reds do get ten of HiT's only
score two runs the line up, leaving twenty four men
on in a nine inning game just basically shows their
lack of power and Crawl's acquisitions of Hayes, Hayes and lucks.
If this right now have a total of seveneen home runs.

Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
For the year.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
They only left twelve guys on base Sunday, so about
half of that twenty four number. But your point remains.

Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Out of the day.

Speaker 21 (01:06:28):
The twenty twenty three San Diego Chargers defense ranked twenty
eighth last year. They jumped all the way up to eleventh,
so it can be done. To quote the shell shank.
Redemption Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things,
and no good thing ever dies.

Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
Who day there you go, called them the San Diego Chargers.

Speaker 22 (01:06:49):
Okay, hey, dudes, Brandon and Anderson exercing the debacle that
was Bristol. I was left pondering this and now I'll
leave it as a start bench cut best commission Rob Manford,
Adam Silver, Roger Goodell.

Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
You start Rob Boy Rogers, and then I betch Adam
Silver and cut Rob Manford. I guess I mean it's
closed with the last two. I do think that you
know the some of the rules introduced to baseball in
recent years.

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
I like, yeah, there's just more. There's more that he
leaves on the table, though, that seems like it should
be something easier.

Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
To take care of, like the the bad outweighs the
good for Rob Manford and Silver is just kind of.

Speaker 23 (01:07:37):
Your attention, Cleveland Brown's fans, your Cleveland Browns. In order
to celebrate yesterday's signing of legendary quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:07:44):
Insert name here, are offering.

Speaker 23 (01:07:46):
This limited special promotion in conjunction with Ohio taxpayers unclaimed funds,
All fast food restaurants in the Cleveland area will round
your purchases up or back to the nearest seventy five
cents so that everyone gets a quarterback. Now why you
might ask, because you don't live in Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Come on, come on, very good, six quarterbacks right now
on the Browns roster.

Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
Very good.

Speaker 5 (01:08:15):
Happy Tuesday, boys, Let's get right into the ages.

Speaker 4 (01:08:18):
Come better.

Speaker 5 (01:08:19):
Actor Hugh Jackman or Hugh Grant two totally separate Hugh
Grant's and romantic comedies.

Speaker 4 (01:08:26):
Hugh Jackman.

Speaker 5 (01:08:27):
I'm taking him just based off his role in Wolverine
and then bonus Henry Aaron or Henry Ford. Who is
more impactful? Oh, I'm going with Henry Ford.

Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
What do you guys think Henry Aaron? Why from a
sports standpoint, Henry Aaron, that wasn't the question. It was
just more impactful. Well, my life is sports, so I'll
say Henry Aeron.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
I mean, you can make the point with what Henry
Aaron did with the African American people and that time
period and the impact that he had on that on
race relations in the United States and obviously the you know,
beating out Babe Ruth. I mean you could make that argument.
I think it's probably Henry Ford though, because we're all

(01:09:11):
still driving cars around sure.

Speaker 10 (01:09:14):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
And then I'll take Hugh Jackman just for the Greatest
Showman alone.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
I was gonna say Hugh Jackman and Wolverine. He was
in the dead Pool. But his performance in the Greatest
Showman and then there's those behind the scenes of him
like performing in like how into it he gets. I
would go Hugh Jackman as well.

Speaker 4 (01:09:31):
I'm right there with you, biggin thank you, Maso Austin
with you.

Speaker 24 (01:09:35):
On the Reds, they avoided extra innings last night because
the guy didn't run through first base. In the last
two weeks, we've seen two guys on second base with
less than two outs and nobody on first run to
third on a ground ball to shortstop and get thrown out.

Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
Some things don't change, yep.

Speaker 24 (01:09:51):
Also, but they were born between pitchers and catchers. When
CB Buckner is behind home plate, asked Charlie that maybe.

Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
I'll be drinks.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Cbe is awful. It has been awful for a very,
very long time. It's amazing he still has a job.
I agree, But I mean, I mean, Angel Hernandez was
in the big leagues for like thirty years, so it's
just it's what they do. They like it. I think so,
and that for that reason, I'll cut Manford and I'll
bench Silver.

Speaker 17 (01:10:23):
Hey, guys, want to say prayers up for Roman Tony,
praying for you and your family and believing for great
things that happened for that little man Bagels. We've been
saying it since Chow Carl's been here. The old line
has been a concern, still the concern if we can
see it's fair. I still can't understand why management cannot
see this. Can they not get past their own evaluations

(01:10:44):
or what? I don't really know. That's something that has
definitely got to be fixed.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Like you say, yeah, I just uh, I don't quite
understand what we're missing there. I really don't.

Speaker 25 (01:10:55):
It's the Lord from your destination in the sky putting
an apb out on the following talkbackers, Eddie Zelik, Tony
that Patty Willie talkback cowboy. Haven't heard from you talkbackers
in a while. Why don't you let us know that
you're still alive and still leaving talkbacks?

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Yeah? Where's Eddie Zelik?

Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
Have been a while since?

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
D Where's that? I agree with me?

Speaker 26 (01:11:22):
I typically don't turn off movies, and I turned that
thing off with about forty minutes left to go. One
of the worst movies I've ever I've ever seen in
my life, and if it was at the movie theater.
I've only walked out of one movie in my entire life.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
But I would have.

Speaker 7 (01:11:35):
I would have walked out of that movie.

Speaker 4 (01:11:37):
That was just awful, terrible, per per what movies.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Did you walk out of the movie right then? You're
leaving us, You're leaving us hanging there. Yeah, I do, haven't.
I have a problem in the sense that if I
start a movie, even if it's bad, I'll watch it
through the end. Like there's been multiple movies that may
and I have watched and at the end it's like
that may have single handly been the worst ever, and
yet I'll finish. I'll watch it through.

Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
I've done that.

Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
I know why.

Speaker 4 (01:12:04):
Yeah, I'm like that too.

Speaker 27 (01:12:07):
Man, Guys, how you doing today? I guess Adam sand
there must be a genius. I mean, just think about
this formula. You make a movie that's bad, you get
people talking about how bad it is, so then other
people want to watch it to see how bad it is.
And no wonder the numbers are so high on a
bad movie.

Speaker 7 (01:12:27):
Anyway, Guys, we're.

Speaker 27 (01:12:29):
Going to answer out here some more about the Bearcats
and expectations and Asper week for that team later this week.

Speaker 2 (01:12:36):
We talked about that yesterday. With this being the last
training camp that I'm physically at this week, we're gonna
spend some time on the Bearcats this week as well.
But yes, the Sandler method Austin is absolutely brilliant because
you get celebrities, you throw them a small role in
the movie, and then the celebrities use all of their

(01:12:56):
platforms to say, hey, go check this movie out. It's genius. Yep,
it's absolutely genius, even though the movies themselves may stink.

Speaker 28 (01:13:07):
Hey fellas, this is the owner of the Cincinnati Pro
football team. We pulled a fast one on the rest
of the league by shining Noah Fant to play guard.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
Knock tight end guard.

Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
We need a guard.

Speaker 28 (01:13:21):
My dad pulled a fast one on the league by
moving Ken Riley in nineteen sixty nine to defensive back,
and that was wildly successful. We're gonna we're gonna copy
that success. See you Thursday night, Fellas.

Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
Wow, thank you, Mike. So Noah fan he sounds a
lot like Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
You're thinking, Noah Fanto.

Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
Somebody tweeted at me earlier today and said, why don't
they put Drew Sample at guard? And the answer to
that question is that the Bengals really value his current role.
And the second is he would need to put on
about sixty five.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Pounds last year. Last year, Noahfanse received a past blocking
grade from PFFF thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
Four point five.

Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
Would that have made him and Ain't Good essentially the
best blocking guard on the Bengals roster?

Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
I think actually it would have when you think about
what Kappa and Volson did. Yeah, he probably may have
beat them out by twenty or thirty points.

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Yep, So maybe maybe we're on the same ice.

Speaker 7 (01:14:25):
Just got off the bridge there.

Speaker 29 (01:14:28):
I'll watching practice Vegas Bridge crew had a great view
Today's whether it was amazing, Tony from your vantage points,
the office didn't look that good.

Speaker 7 (01:14:40):
Fine, did not look that good to me?

Speaker 29 (01:14:43):
Uh, is there something I'm missing? Just serious your thoughts.

Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
Thanks brother, It's it's something we've talked about all camp
as as someone as watching practice today, there was only
one real team period and I would have counted two,
maybe three sacks in that period. U another pass that
that Joe Burrow had to get rid of quick that
went high, he'd have been sacked in the red zone. Yeah.

(01:15:06):
I would say that the old line wasn't great again
today and we heard the conversation of Jalen Rivers getting
more reps at Guard, which is I guess never a
good thing. But shout out to Iceman Austin. The ice
was up on the bridge solo today. No day's all
for ice.

Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
So how is it a Bengals Bridge crew if you're
up there by yourself?

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Well maybe maybe the rest of the brigade couldn't make it.

Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
And he was up there missing, you know, creating his
own content, so he missed our content. So he had
to come ask you about something you'd already talked about
during the show.

Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
It's interesting this did domino effect if things happened.

Speaker 15 (01:15:44):
Back pre draft I left to talk back about drafting
an ad Red Guard with the first pick. Fairly lit
me up for suggesting and no G in the first round,
but now not me sucks. If you two could GM
it for a day, what would you do? Who could
we still get to address this Glenn Uber extended problem
we've had? And how do you convince Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:16:05):
That I don't know, but I know it couldn't have
happened on this show because I was fully on board
with drafting a guard at seventeen overall. If it's my
if I I've got the choice. I know Sheriff has
been a talk that we've had. I think Will Hernandez

(01:16:27):
still has something left in the tank. I know he
got hurt, but before the injury, he had a seventy
four point two pass blocking grade overall sixty nine point
three that would have ranked him thirty third among one
hundred and thirty six guards. Will Hernandez would be my
pick right now.

Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
I stand I stand by what I said. There were
three guards taken in the first round. I still felt
like the biggest need for the Bengals at that point
was defensive line help. And I also thought that they
would be more active in free agency in going and
addressing that position. And you know two of those guards,

(01:17:02):
you know, one was drafted right ahead of them and
Tyler Booker at Alabama, one was drafted right behind them
at Grey Zabel, and the last one was Donovan Jackson.
And if you remember, I was very high on Donovan Jackson.
It made more sense for me to draft a guard
in round two or later, and they didn't draft one
in second in the second round, and there was the

(01:17:23):
I'm blanking on the on the young man's name. He
went to Detroit, Tate Ratleice was right there and they
didn't draft him. I thought that that was a shoe
in for them to pick, and I would have been
really happy with that pick. So it didn't go the
way I expected it to go, but I still stand
by what I said. I right now would probably go
after Will Hernandez like Tony said, or Dalton Reisner.

Speaker 10 (01:17:45):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
I don't know how to convince Mike Brown. I don't
know him that well.

Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Who was the Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
I would probably show him Joe Burrow's contract and say
this is a giant waist if he gets killed on
the field again.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
Who was the player from North Dakotas taking at.

Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
Eighteen Gray's abels right behind?

Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
Yeah? Yeah, obviously a career you're gonna watch as well.

Speaker 4 (01:18:05):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 30 (01:18:07):
I like how it's the year twenty twenty five and
some of us are still saying things like who is
that guy who does sports talk? That Polish guy in Tampa. Hey,
good news for Mike in La. I did a quick search.
The answer is Tom Krasniki. The bad news is Google
now thinks I'm racist. Hey, do you guys know what Jackson.

(01:18:30):
Carmen's middle name is no. Don't squeeze the.

Speaker 4 (01:18:38):
Okay, nicely done? Ah, Tony, Odie, this is pegnic.

Speaker 31 (01:18:45):
Hold on just a second, just a second. What do
you mean I gotta pay for these Happy to Go
more tickets. I just heard the whole bloody story on
the radio, Moig. I gave it a thumbs down. That's
a bunch of crap if I ever heard it. Yeah,
you never come into this theater.

Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
Again, poor, he off, you'll turn in.

Speaker 9 (01:19:07):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
I know this is random, but have you guys seen
the gorilla glue commercial with Sean Casey in it? I
thought it was pretty fucking funny. I saw like the
tail end of it, and I haven't seen it since.
I know that it exists, but I don't know anything
about it. Have you seen it, Tony?

Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
I have not anything Sean Casey does.

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):
I think his gold though, yes, and he filmed it
before he tore his hamstring off.

Speaker 8 (01:19:28):
That and Savannah still repping in Natty out here in
Sonny Sonny hots on it?

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
What up? Tony? What up? Boddy?

Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
I'm outside you. I gotta leave a quick talking back
because I am at work.

Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
Man.

Speaker 8 (01:19:38):
Last night game was fire I loved that. It was
kind of omnious, though with the two pitches leaving the
bullpen game, I was a little bit worried about that.
Sorry about the background noise, but uh unsweepable with the
Reds right now and uh listen to Zach talk. Gave
me horrible flashback. Why Washington did our quarterback? Please, don't
get our quarterback killed. Get her Nandez in here and

(01:19:58):
protect nine.

Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
There you go.

Speaker 32 (01:20:01):
Okay, that's Tinny Austin Judge in the valley. Hey, Austin's
negativity about the Reds and the playoffs.

Speaker 14 (01:20:07):
I mean it's getting kind of old.

Speaker 32 (01:20:09):
I mean, I was so excited last night watching him
come back and win that game. I mean, Brian Hayes
legitimately saved the game for them. Martablo is not making
that play. Santiago is not making that play, and you're
still dogging them. We're gonna catch one of those teams
and we're gonna make the playoffs, and you should have
to do something crazy for it, Hudego Reds.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
First of all, George, I'm happy for you that you're
excited about it, and I don't mean to take anything
away from you for that second of all, he Brian
Hayes did not save that game for them. Dansby Swanson
not touching the base saved the game for them because
he clearly would have been safe if he had actually
come down on the base. And finally, I have said
this many times and I will continue to say it.

(01:20:53):
The Reds have sucked my whole life. My expectations are
that they will continue to face because for my entire
life I have known nothing but failure. And I have
watched this team through one hundred and thirteen games and
I know exactly who they are. They are not good
enough to make the playoffs, and with the schedule of

(01:21:15):
the San Diego Padres, they will not catch San Diego.
I think they have a better chance of catching the
Mets because the Mets are kind of teetering a little bit,
But even then, I still don't think it's gonna happen. Now,
that doesn't mean that your experience has to change. Just
because I feel some way doesn't mean you should feel
some way. But that's just how I feel about it,
and it's just gonna be honest. And Tony and Moe

(01:21:36):
disagree with me, that's fine. You disagree with me, that's fine.
But they've sucked my whole life, so I expect them
to continue to suck until they prove me wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
And that's I mean, that's not what they have to do.
I mean everyone has now the same view of the Reds.
They did a little at the deadline, it's not enough.
They No one really thinks that they're gonna hang on
and compete. So it's on the Bengals. It's on the
Reds to prove everybody wrong. If not, it's going to
be the same conversation as we had a couple of
years ago. Well, they should have went more all in
at the deadline with what they had.

Speaker 21 (01:22:10):
How did Sarah at last get a credential and not
Audie for this Bristol race?

Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
Just curious since she.

Speaker 9 (01:22:16):
Was talking about today on Scott Sloan Show, Go Reds.

Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
I did not apply for a credential because I did
not want to work.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
Austin's out there with the people.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
I wanted to hang out with my friends.

Speaker 33 (01:22:31):
Tony Audie explain to me your high anxiety over Joe
Burrow and the O line and this preseason. I'd look
back to and remember last year with the refs, they
kept all the quarterbacks pretty well protected with no lower
body hits, no landing on them with the body weight.

(01:22:55):
So explain all this high anxiety. I think they're well protected.

Speaker 2 (01:23:01):
Anytime there is a chance of someone missing an assignment
or missing a block, or missing at some type of
d line game and allowing a free rusher to the quarterback,
I am.

Speaker 4 (01:23:14):
Concerned, especially for young guys.

Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
A quick whistle, yeah, well, they'll be a quick whistle. Yeah,
but it's not like you just tag off to the quarterback.
If the ball's in his hand, he's going to be hit.
And guess who he's playing against. Guys that are either
borderline trying to make a roster or guys that are
trying to become starters. Yep, you think those guys are
going to take it easy if they get through the
first line of defense and say, okay, I'm good, I
don't want to put a hit on.

Speaker 4 (01:23:37):
No, those trying to make a name for themselves, and
those dudes have been chomping at the bit to hit
a quarterback because they haven't been able to all training
camp and trying to force a fumble or whatever it
might be. Just because it's against the rules doesn't mean
a guy won't get blown up anyways, I mean, how
many times have you heard it? Like, yeah, I'll take
the fifteen yard penalty if I can rattle the quarterback
early in the game. I'm not saying that same logic

(01:23:59):
applies to a preseas in game. But if your offensive
line is is not, you know, protecting you, and you
can get twisted up or rolled upon or you know
whatever it might be, it's a scary thought.

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 20 (01:24:13):
Hey, fellas, you know what they say, if you got
six quarterbacks, you got none.

Speaker 4 (01:24:19):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (01:24:20):
Is Ohio State going through that right now?

Speaker 5 (01:24:21):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:24:21):
We have three, okay, so I think, but only two
are really competing thoughts.

Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Yeah, is it Julian Sleigh?

Speaker 4 (01:24:31):
Since Julian's saying have a little bit of respect, Lincoln
sineholes and Tavion Saint Clair the proud of Pride of
Bell Fountain, Ohio?

Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
Is it sayings? Is it saying's job right now?

Speaker 4 (01:24:43):
Ryan won't tell anybody, but I would think it's Julian saying.
But I think Lincoln's having a better camp so far.
If you want to talk more about Ohio.

Speaker 34 (01:24:52):
State bench cuts, Danzel Washington, Lawrence Fishburn, Samuel Jackson, hot
dogs with no ketchup, burgers with no bun, or nachos
with cold cheese.

Speaker 4 (01:25:11):
I hope you guys are having a great day.

Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
I start Samuel Jackson. I can't cut either of the
other one, so they're both on the bench.

Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
That's no, that's the cop out answer the question. It's
a game. Where are listeners are asking us to play it?
So play it?

Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
Yeah, I guess was it fishburn.

Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
Fishburne, Jackson and Washington?

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
Yeah, Washington is benched. Okay, Lawrence is cut.

Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
I'm starting Denzel. I'm benching Lawrence Fishburne. I'm cutting Samuel Jackson.

Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
Now for the other one, I don't even remember what
they were.

Speaker 4 (01:25:48):
I know it was with cold cheese, not with cold cheese,
burgers with no bun or hot dogs with no ketchup.

Speaker 2 (01:25:55):
Now, there are a lot of people that eat burgers
with no bun from a dietary standpoint, Yes, Carl, I'll
start that. I don't eat catch up anyway, so I'll
bench the hot dog. And then if you're serving me
cold cheese, you got no place around me.

Speaker 4 (01:26:06):
Yeah, I'm cutting the nachos with cold cheese. I'll bench
the burger. I'll start the hot dog with no catch okay,
And I wanted to say another thing. Great pitching performance
by the Reds yesterday to shut down the Cubs. I
think they had a total of maybe four hits. Way
to go, Reds, come on, get this series, sweep them.

Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
Yeah. I would be mess if we had a panel
and ask them, you know, to answer truthfully. When Lodolo
left that game, the way the bullpen had just been taxed,
Knowing how Chicago's offense mashes, you wouldn't have thought the
Reds would have had much of a chance last night.
Credit to the bullpen.

Speaker 4 (01:26:44):
Yeah, Happy Gilmore too sucked.

Speaker 11 (01:26:46):
I put it on my Mount Rushmore of worst sequels
of beloved movies of all time, along with Caddy Shack
two coming to America too. And I'm gonna leave the
fourth spot on Mount Rushmore crappy sequel for your guys choice.

Speaker 2 (01:27:00):
What do you say?

Speaker 4 (01:27:02):
I don't know movies that well, but I will I
will say that the fact that they made a third
Home alone has always pissed me off because mcaulay Culkin
wasn't the main character, and so because of that, I
never watched it. So I'm just gonna assume that movie sucked.

Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
Yeah, you know, from what it was to what it
went to. I don't even remember how they they coined it,
but the sequel to Jawls because you were just never
gonna be.

Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
Better than I didn't even know that one of those existed.

Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
Yeah, there was like five or six different jaws.

Speaker 4 (01:27:36):
I gotta say thank you to Will Ferrell who has
turned turned down bags of cash, yeah to not make
an ELF sequel, and he deserves a lot of credit.

Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
I respect that.

Speaker 26 (01:27:48):
Yeah, I walked out and bewitched with the Will Ferrell
maybe from many years ago.

Speaker 10 (01:27:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 26 (01:27:53):
It was awful anyways, I haven't seen it yet.

Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
All right, good to know appreciate it.

Speaker 10 (01:27:59):
Thank god, Peppie Patty here.

Speaker 35 (01:28:01):
Thanks for checking in on me, although I do talk
to you every single day privately. Thanks for not telling
everybody about those conversations. And Tony and Audie. I love
that you love the greatest showman. I didn't think you
guys would be you know, the lovers. He is my favorite,
So that's awesome. And praying for Roman and your whole family.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
All right, see you guys, Thank you. Great movie. Yes, yeah,

(01:28:42):
we heard this on the show the other day. On Sunday,
the Reds left Greg four, Greg, I got the box
score up right now, team left on base twelve from
Sundays finish against the Braves. Twelve men left on base?

(01:29:07):
Double check that for me, Tony.

Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
I'm going tonson was reaching for the base.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
He just couldn't get there, and what was stressed. As
far as he could, he had to tap it with
the toe.

Speaker 32 (01:29:17):
I get it that they sucked your whole life.

Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
Guess what they sucked my whole life too.

Speaker 32 (01:29:21):
I got I had the nineties, but I was like seven,
So come on, but you know what I'm saying, I
got to root for the Reds.

Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
You root for him with that, with the guth that's
been empty.

Speaker 4 (01:29:31):
Yeah, I do. I'm allowed to do that. I've also
been to twenty five games this year, so I.

Speaker 2 (01:29:39):
See, I see twelve left on base one for eight
with runners in scoring positions.

Speaker 4 (01:29:43):
Correct, and the Braves had six left on base. So
I mean, that's that's on the website, it's on the
app on ESPN.

Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
And I would have loved nothing more than to just
be able to have that stat be wrong and you
would never hear the end of it.

Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
You are correct, they only left twelve on base Sunday.
But his point is still valid. Yeah, that they don't
get guys in once they get them all bad.

Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
They don't get guys in. They also don't get him
over correct like first and second. Ellie's up to bat
at the worst you get the runners over to give
you a second and third two with one out, Yeah,
can't just strike out.

Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
It was our last one.

Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
All right, good to go?

Speaker 4 (01:30:24):

(01:32:17):
race and Claire Roofing hotline where our guy from Fox nineteen,
Joe Daniman, is standing by to talk to us. Hi, Joe,
what's up?

Speaker 7 (01:32:25):
I was just talking to Austin before we came on
the air, and I said, if there is a thirty
for thirty made on the Speedway Classic, he and I
had better be a part of that. I want to
be one of the people interviewed in the thirty for
thirty on the Speedway Classic.

Speaker 4 (01:32:41):
Yes, please, I ask Joe. I think Bristol could use
some race and Claire roofing based off the leakage that
we had on our heads.

Speaker 7 (01:32:49):
Where's the way?

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
I gotta ask Joe? You are You're coming off as
a winner of the Ohio Sportscaster of the Year.

Speaker 7 (01:32:57):
Right, Yes, sir?

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Do you want to repeat in that honor? Because if so,
my question would be how can you leave Bristol before
watching the finale on Sunday?

Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
That was just.

Speaker 7 (01:33:13):
Because of logistics. So when we decided to book our
trip to Bristol, we got in a little bit late
just because we didn't know what the staffing was going
to be, So we got in late on booking a
place to stay. So we booked an Airbnb for Thursday

(01:33:33):
and Friday, but that Airbnb needed this out Saturday morning.
We said, okay, no problem, We'll go do our thing.
We'll do our show is, we'll cover the game, do
the late show, hit the road, and grab a hotel
room about two hours on the drive back. So when
it came time to suspend the game until Sunday, we
had a decision to make about sleeping in our car

(01:33:57):
and covering the game on Sunday with the event all
ready being over and now it's just another baseball game,
or driving back two hours and then going on with
our Sundays and the rest of our lives. And we
chose option B, and we chose wisely. Like Indiana Jones
at the end of last Crusade, we did not choose poorly.

Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
I do have to ask because I was I was
following along with you and Jeremy and your coverage on
Friday night and then watching on Saturday leading up, and
there was a point in the day where I started
getting fomo because I'm like man from a sure from
a broadcast view, from a production view, from everything that
you guys were highlighting, Like man, this looks really really cool,

(01:34:40):
and as Austin pointed out, as the players are being
introduced and going around the track and you know, the
American flag and everything like that, it looked like something
that was going to deliver, or maybe even over deliver
and raise what the expectations already were. To go from
that to what you felt when you were leaving, I
can't imagine the two parallels.

Speaker 7 (01:35:03):
So a lot of unpacks from my experience, and if
I can have it just a couple of minutes here,
I'll share a little bit of my experience from this.
And right when we got down there, there was this
feeling that when we arrived, this had become less about
a baseball game inside of a race track and all
the spectacle and unique experience that comes with that, and

(01:35:24):
it felt like a race to get as many people
in the building as possible to break a record and
to smash a record. That to me, is where this
thing kind of felt like it was going sideways. I
didn't expect to feel that, but from the conversations I
had with people who were involved in making this event happen,

(01:35:47):
it started to feel like they were most concerned about
the number and that kind of it shouldn't have dared me.
But it did because, look, it's a big event track.
They're used to having huge numbers of people. But you
could see they were going to have a lot of
the track roped off, so you're now going to be
packing a lot of people into a smaller part of

(01:36:08):
the track. Could they handle that? So that was my
question that was feeling one. Feeling two is this even
after the event. I believe if the weather would have cooperated,
it would have been overall a positive experience in the
game of the spectacle would have been so cool that,
you know, the long line and running out of food
and those kinds of things. A they might not have

(01:36:32):
happened to the extent they happened in b they might
have been a footnote to the amazing pictures and the
unbelievable energy that would have been in that building. I
go back to the first inning when the Braves had
their picture trying to cover first base and they showed
the replay and the reaction from the crowd. The size
of the crowd even after the rain delay, was like, Wow,

(01:36:52):
this is different. It sounds and feels like a football game.
I couldn't imagine what it would have felt like if
it was a sunny night, beautiful night. But I do
want to share one story about security, because Austin talked
about security yesterday. I feel like we've we've beaten the
concessions and the toilet paper to death. I have a
hilarious story about security speedway that needs to be told

(01:37:16):
in the thirty for thirty. So here's what happens. So
we're getting close to game time and I said to myself,
I think the picture that needs to be taken is
from the top row during the national anthem, when they're
firing off the fireworks and the rockets red glare of
this huge crowd. So I make the track up. I
walked all the way up the grand stand to the top.

(01:37:37):
I take this cool picture. It's not as great because
it's not a great weather day. And then the rain
starts to come. Okay, so I go down to the
concourse level where everybody is gathering, and it's a mess
down there. It's a massive humanity. People are trying to
go to the bathroom, they're trying to get concessions, they're
trying to dodge puddles forming and rivers and lakes that

(01:37:59):
are falling from in between the cracks of the stands,
so it's like you're trying to dodge traffic with every
step you take inside this concourse. So I text Austin.
I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna go visit Austin
and take a cool sixty three point sixty picture at
the speedway. So he gives me his area, and trying

(01:38:20):
to find that area while trying to dodge all this
humanity was just never going to happen. Plus, you have
really dodgy and spotty cell service, so it's not like
I can follow up easily and asking more questions. So
I sit up there for an hour. I run into
Carry Combs.

Speaker 9 (01:38:38):
That was great, Carry Combs and I had a hug
and had a moment.

Speaker 7 (01:38:41):
So that was fun too. And so finally the weather
starts to lighten up where it's just kind of a
spitting drizzle. So I decide, okay, I'm gonna walk back
from the concourse back to the infield and check in
with my coworkers and see what's going on with this game.
So I started walking down the stand. These two college
aged kids come up to me and say, dude, we're

(01:39:03):
trying to get down to the field. Can you get
us access to the field. I said, man, I don't
work here. I just have a credential. And there are
like three different checkpoints you're gonna have to go through
where they check credentials for you to get there. They like, well,
we're just gonna say we're with you. I'm like, you
can do whatever you want, but I'm going to walk
in front of you guys, and you, guys, good luck

(01:39:25):
to whatever you're doing. So we make it to checkpoint
one at the bottom of the grand stand and they
say we're with him, and they let them through. So
then I start walking down the tunnel that leads underneath
the track and leads towards the infield where the media
center is up. And here comes checkpoint number two, and
these guys say, hey, we're with him, and they get

(01:39:47):
by checkpoint number two with no problems. Checkpoint number three
is from the media center to the field, okay, and
this is the point where they just have one person working,
and there's a tiny crack in some makeshift fences where okay,
there's no way because they're actually scanning the passes to

(01:40:08):
make sure you can get through. I get to this
guy and he says, yeah, the rain get killed my
device man just go through, and these guys say, hey,
we're with him. He goes, just come on in, and
so he likes these two complish kids just go straight
to the fields. I look at these guys and they couldn't.
They give me a pumping fist and they go running

(01:40:29):
to the field and in ponchos with beers, and I'm like,
this is hilarious. So I check in the media center.
Then I go back up to the press area that's
on the temporary concourse, you know, the temporary stands that
are around the field. And I'm up in the press
area and they go.

Speaker 9 (01:40:44):
Oh my god, Jeremy, look, those are the guys.

Speaker 7 (01:40:48):
These guys are sitting in the two seats behind the
fencing behind home plate. They're just down there.

Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (01:40:56):
When stops them, and I think these guys actually one
point tried to run onto the field and do like,
you know, jump across the tart and slide. I don't
think they got that far, but last I saw they
were sitting in the two seats behind home plate where
they finally started the game. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:41:15):
Wow, it's incredibleible.

Speaker 4 (01:41:17):
That's that's the best story I've heard of out of
all of them. That's it's I'm not even surprised at all.

Speaker 7 (01:41:25):
I also paid seventeen dollars for two chicken fingers and
the water.

Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Hold on.

Speaker 4 (01:41:34):
They didn't have food for you guys.

Speaker 7 (01:41:36):
So what they did was they gave us vouchers the.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Colorado.

Speaker 7 (01:41:44):
Yeah, what was fine. And they had concessions in the
infield right by the stage where they were doing music.
And the cool thing was, you know, they had this
fun idea of there was apparently like an Atlanta style
of hot dog in a Cincinnati style of hot dog,
which was chilly, obvious sleep and we were gonna, you know,
by one of each and check them out and see
what they're all about. They didn't have any left when

(01:42:05):
I got there. They're like, we got chicken fingers. I'm like,
all right, chicken fingers are fine, and they've got two
chicken fingers and no saws. And the worst part about
it was again things they didn't think through. They had
the big this big tent over the concession, and the
problem was the awning dropped off right where you would
stand to place your order, so everything was just dumping

(01:42:29):
on top of you while you have tried to make
this transaction. So you had to stand five feet back
and like I, I had to toss them my vouchers.
I was like, I literally just I said just keep
it because I'm not coming back, and they like put
my food ten feet down the line so I could

(01:42:49):
go to a place where there was a dry spots
pick my food up. Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
Wow. And the crazy thing is Joe at the root
of this is that this Reds team who has the
devastating on Thursday, they rally, Friday, they deal with everything Saturday,
they lose on Sunday. And I equated it to a
UFC or a boxing match where you feel like, man,
if that round would have lasted twenty more seconds, that
guy was about to get knocked out. And it feels

(01:43:15):
like there's been a handful of times this year it
feels like the Reds are ready to be knocked out
and then they come out swinging again, and I feel
like that's what they did last night against the Cups.

Speaker 7 (01:43:23):
Next year, I'm going to keep the notes of the
number of times that we think a season is on
the line before a season is actually on the line,
because I feel like last night was maybe the fourth
or fifth time that the fan base has come to
a consensus that the Reds saved this season with a win,
even though they have fifty games last It cracks me
off every time it happens, but I get the feeling,

(01:43:45):
and I get the sentiment that there are swing moments
and swing games throughout the year, and certainly that didn't
feel like a game that the Reds were going to win.
I certainly think that we can label it forever the
Swinging Bunt Game because Matt McLain and key Brian Hayes
both having swinging bunts that would eventually lead to runs

(01:44:08):
and the game that was decided by one run is
just absolute cinema for this baseball team, and it felt
like one of those nights where it just felt like
the Red Knight, like things were going to go their
way eventually because of those moments, and then hitting a
line drive into a double play, it just kind of
felt like, all Right, this is the Red Knight. They

(01:44:29):
got this one. But I still think, and it hasn't
changed for me in two or three months, that I
still think they're going to be a factor in September.
They're going to put themselves in a position to be
around and possibly make a run Austin. You made the
great point that ten times in the month of September,

(01:44:49):
the San Diego Padres play the Rockies in the White
Sox ten times in a month, that's a big deal
when you start thinking about josying for position. But who knows,
maybe the Mets will come back pack. But I do
think the Reds are going to keep themselves in position
to be in position just because of their pitching staff
and what they've accomplished, not only starters, but what we've

(01:45:10):
seen from the bullpen. Certainly what they did last night
was was great and it felt like it saved the
game for the team. There's no doubt about it. So
I think they're going to be in it next month.
Do they have the kind of finishing kick they need
to get there? I don't know. We'll find out, but
certainly having them play meaningful base on September is a
great step forward.

Speaker 2 (01:45:31):
Well all that is happening, Joe, The Cincinnati Bengals are
getting ready for their first preseason game. It felt Gooday,
It felt today like the team had already boarded the plane.
It was a very light practice day today here at
the practice fields, but we did hear from Zach Taylor.
We heard a little bit more of the plan as
it relates to the offense and Joe Burrow and starters
playing on Thursday night. With that, now what we understand,

(01:45:55):
What are you most looking forward to or what do
you want to see play itself out on Thursday.

Speaker 7 (01:46:01):
Yeah, it's not just Thursday, it's also the second preseason
game as well. And to me, it's not going to
be sexy, but it's going to be trying to figure
out if what we're seeing at Bengals training camp is
a positive for the defensive line or a negative for
the offensive line. And I don't think we're going to
know that until we see them play against somebody else.

(01:46:24):
And a lot of times people would argue, you're not
really going to find that out even in the preseason,
but certainly it's finding out what the Bengals have at guard.
Is Dylan Fairchild's athleticism and ability enough for him to
overcome being a rookie playing that position? Is body Ford
or Lucas Patrick going to be the guy playing right guard?

(01:46:47):
And whoever it is, is that person going to be
good enough that this team doesn't feel like it's compelled
to go out and find somebody who actually can fill
that position and they feel comfortable about it. And then
the other part is too is you know we've seen
and I'm sure you could go back and listen to
the tapes you would find it as talking in the
past about a defensive line here in Cincinnati that was

(01:47:08):
dominating training camp. So this isn't new that the Bengals
defensive line has performed well in training camp. The question
is can it perform well against somebody else. I've been
pleasantly surprised, and I wasn't here for two of the
camp practices because I was at Bristol, but it's been
a breath of fresh air that Shamar Stewart seems to

(01:47:29):
be a guy that is flashing, popping dude doing the
kind of things that you want to see from a
rookie and a first round draft pick doing at that spot.
And I like the words that Dak Taylor used today
to talk about it. You know, violent, it's aggressive, it's
the opposite of tentatives. Those are the things the Bengals need.
They need a disruptor, and certainly what he's been doing

(01:47:51):
has been disrupt full. And I'm also excited to see TJ. Slayton.
I'm excited for the fan base to see him because
if people I haven't seen him, it feels like the
light bulb has gone on for him with his role
on this team and how he can be successful playing
his role. He can be a difference maker for this team,
and I'm excited for the fans who haven't been to

(01:48:13):
training camp practice to see what he looks like in
a Bengals uniform.

Speaker 2 (01:48:18):
At this point, do you know what Plan B would
be if it was a situation where the offensive line
just doesn't have it figured out? Because we've already talked
about Jalen Rivers is going to get some reps now
at guard, and I don't think there's a lot of
depth already built in there. And a Marius Mims while
he's gonna play, he's got this hand thing going on.

(01:48:39):
What does the congingency plan look like in your opinion
for the Bengals if they aren't satisfied with what they
have up front.

Speaker 7 (01:48:46):
Yeah, that's a great question. I don't know the answer
to that, Tony. Certainly that there are names of players
who are plug and play guys who are out there
that you guys touched on last hour. Those are the
names that most of us outside of the organization talk about.
How bad would it have to be for them to

(01:49:07):
rise to the level where they think they have to
go out and get someone and get that player ready
in less than a month's time. I don't know what
that level is. I'll ask this to you as someone
who probably can help describe this better. And the idea
of bringing in Noah Fans and that the Bengals love

(01:49:27):
having the twelve personnel the two tight end sets. Could
that be something that can help supplement this team and
their offensive line as well if they don't feel comfortable
with what they're saying playing five guys against four on defense,
that they play more twelve personnel and that can assist Tony.

(01:49:48):
Is that something that you kind of think is maybe
behind bringing in Noah Fan as well?

Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
Yeah? I think so. Because they're not great from a
tight end. You that they're not great past blockers as is.
But if you're going twelve personnel, you're asking a defense
to make an adjustment as well. If the defense goes
big as well, then you have advantages in the passing game.
If they go small, then I like the advantage of
those bigger bodies and Noah Fan and a Mica Sickky
being able to help in pass protection. So I do

(01:50:15):
think there's an element there. It gives you more freedom
in the running game. It opens up play action. You
can always go max protect and protect with eight and
do two main routes as well. So I do think
it opens it up for more. I just if we're
here a week from today talking about the offensive line again,
that to me would would signify a little bit more

(01:50:36):
of an issue.

Speaker 7 (01:50:38):
And I think the word you guys use, and I
think Austin said that Moe use it as well. But
there is an uneasiness that comes to putting the franchise
out there in preseason games. And you can go back
and I could dig it up, and I thought about
digging it up earlier, but I got sidetracked. I put
out the tweet the day that Joe Burrow, I think

(01:50:59):
through four pick against Pittsburgh in the season opener, I said,
get your tickets ready for next year preseason because Joe
Burrow will be playing, just because it had gotten to
that point where they just didn't look functional in Week
one and that carried over again last year and there
were some circumstances outside of just not playing in the
preseason enough that the Bengals looked the way they did

(01:51:21):
against New England in Week one. But certainly this feels
like the biggest change this team had to make to
play better in September. But it does come with uneasiness,
especially with two new players at two new positions on
the offensive line. It's going to be one of those
things that we understand why they do it and that

(01:51:41):
they almost have to do it at this point, but
it also comes with the uneasiness of watching it happen
and just hoping that he gets through this thing without
having to take a big hit or two in his
time out there. And that, to me is the biggest
concern when you turn this loose with guys on the
other side were fighting for jobs and fighting for roles

(01:52:03):
on a really deep roster in Philadelphia. I mean, we
know what that defensive line is about. And so for
these guys whoever they put out there, for these guys
to go out there and get meaningful snaps and try
to turn heads. If they get a shot on Joe Burrow,
they're gonna take it. And so that that comes with
the uneasiness of what the Bangals are doing on.

Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
Thursday Night, Joe Deniman Fox nineteen before I Let you go, Joe,
did you get a chance to uh to bask in
your victory lap? When Mowager described his Happy Gilmore Too experience,
wait a.

Speaker 7 (01:52:32):
Minute, I haven't heard it. What did most day? I
feel like this is good.

Speaker 4 (01:52:36):
News for me, he said.

Speaker 2 (01:52:37):
Yeah, one of the worst film cinematics ever witnessed, which
is hard considering it's really hard to mess up Happy Gilmour,
which didn't have a great plot the first time around.

Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
He explained that his expectations were incredibly low and somehow
they didn't even meet. That the movie didn't even that.

Speaker 7 (01:52:55):
Was the same same place I was, and I go
back to this ober and over again that they had
thirty years between Happy to Gomore one and Happy Go
more To to come up with something funny and it
just was absolute flop. That's my word. Flop.

Speaker 2 (01:53:15):
Those are your flowers, danim and you have received your
flowers today and we appreciate you. Thanks for thanks for
making the time for us today and I look forward
to talking again next week.

Speaker 7 (01:53:26):
Bengal's on Fox nineteen now Thursday night pregame show at
seven o'clock. See you then Jen, have you checked the weather?
Oh gosh, no, don't do this.

Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
This, Joe.

Speaker 4 (01:53:41):
If the NFL wants a Bengals Titans games to be
played at Bristol, would you go?

Speaker 2 (01:53:48):
Of course?

Speaker 4 (01:53:49):
Okay, yep, if you weren't, if you were just a
regular fan, would you would you go? Then?

Speaker 30 (01:53:57):
No?

Speaker 7 (01:53:57):
I would not. Okay, But you want, like you sure,
one inning in Bristol?

Speaker 3 (01:54:02):
Yes, one, we'll.

Speaker 4 (01:54:04):
Work on that.

Speaker 2 (01:54:05):
Dan Evan, you're the best man. Thank you, pe you boyd.

Speaker 4 (01:54:08):
Thanks Joe.

Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
That is Joe Daneman. This is since he three sixty.
You're listening on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station thanks
to Penn Station.

Speaker 4 (01:54:16):
Loegar. We've talked about this a lot. He's got what
you want, like who's the go to guy, gonna be interviews,
his views and your palls. Go to guy isn't the
team's leading.

Speaker 30 (01:54:26):
School Loegar Today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:54:31):
Shuden Cincy three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati's sports station.

Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
Welcome back since E three sixty thanks to Tent Station.
Thanks as one are our friends at ain't e Door

to Adam Weber for all his support and his support
of the Cincinnati Bengals all these many years. Our Postman

(01:55:11):
Law injury report delivered by Postman Law Injured call eight
four to four Postman if you're injured. Postman delivers a
couple things here. We heard from Terry Francona yesterday Austin
that said Hunter Green will make another rehab start with
Triple A Louisville on Friday. I would imagine if all
things go well without he would rejoin the team after that,

(01:55:32):
you would think, is that what we would we would think? Yeah,
And the Reds have made a move today after what
happened with Nick Lodolo left night last night, left with
a blister on his left index finger. They have put
Nicklodolo on the fifteen day injured list and recalled I
believe yasvir Zuluweita. Yeah, nailed it, Zuluwaita from Triple A Louisville.

(01:55:53):
So that obviously the move from last night, which coincides
with the moves that happened today and is your latest
Reds injury report.

Speaker 4 (01:56:02):
I don't love it that it's taking Hunter Green forever
to get back. Yeah, they're being very careful with him.
This is part of the reason why I'm also kind
of sheepish about their chances is I don't really I
ultimately feel like eventually the bullpen's going to fall apart.
I don't think that's crazy to think. But they've been

(01:56:23):
spin asked to do a lot. Yeah, and that's what
I'm wanting.

Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
From a Bengal standpoint, We've talked about Marius Mims his
injury with his hand and wrist area. He was out
here today. Zach Taylor says he'll go in Thursday's preseason opener.
Mike Kasiki will not. I don't think we have a
reason for the injury. It's undisclosed at this point, but
he will not play, along with some of the other
starters on the defensive side of the ball in Thursday's

(01:56:49):
preseason game against the Eagles. That is our Postman Law
injury report. If you're injured, Postman delivers call eight four
to four. Postman, we have a little under a half.
We're still to go a little more on the Bengals
when we get back, and then Mulegar for quick hits
and locks of the night. Since he three sixty. I'm sorry,
no locks of the night, old habits.

Speaker 4 (01:57:09):
I've done that before with me.

Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
I've done that, old habits man, how I wish.

Speaker 4 (01:57:14):
You can give one if you want to, just for
old time sake.

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
Who do the Cubs have pitching tonight show? I'll probably
take the Cubs.

Speaker 4 (01:57:25):
Didn't matter who the answer was to that question.

Speaker 2 (01:57:27):
You were taking the Home of the Bengals. ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sport Station.

Speaker 4 (01:57:33):
It's doing the little things.

Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
Welcome back since he three sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sport Station. Thanks to Penn Station. Thanks as well to
ah Door and Window for having us down here at
training camp. Also thanks to Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by
TOE five one three five THREEPH Thanks to Oakley Greens
and uh so many more that make this possible the

(01:58:01):
race Saint Claire roofing a hotline houstin, I believe we
have two calls. Let's see if we can knock both
of these out. Where do we want to go?

Speaker 6 (01:58:07):
First?

Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
We start in Dayton with Scott. Hello, Scott's up.

Speaker 10 (01:58:10):
Scott, Hello, guys, So I was telling Audie that the
guy who swears the twenty four men were left on base.
The major league record for nine innings is twenty Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:58:23):
Oh, okay, there we go.

Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
You know, sometimes it's believe twenty four on base.

Speaker 10 (01:58:29):
You guys were talking about how they can get them on,
but they can't get them in. I have a little
stat that's kind of kind of disprove that they are
tenth in scoring and runs and eleventh and RBIs.

Speaker 7 (01:58:46):
In the major leagues.

Speaker 2 (01:58:49):
Yeah, I feel like they We also have had some
of those games where it's just been incredible output. But
I think from a consistency standpoint, if you take those away,
I still don't think this is a good offensive team.

Speaker 4 (01:59:01):
I just think they're inconsistent.

Speaker 2 (01:59:04):
Almost of the games. Almost a third of the games
with zero, one or two runs is not going to
to win you enough games.

Speaker 7 (01:59:11):
No, I get that.

Speaker 10 (01:59:14):
I agree with you, and I think they had two
high scoring games. But I think that once they some
of these players start producing like the back of their
baseball cards, like McClain and he's doing much better, I
think that you'll see a better team.

Speaker 4 (01:59:35):
Yeah, but we're one hundred and thirteen games into the seasons.
We've been saying that.

Speaker 10 (01:59:39):
I understand I and and they're five games over and
all it takes is one twelve game streak.

Speaker 4 (01:59:47):
Like they had before. And sure the Milwaukee Brewers.

Speaker 10 (01:59:51):
But yeah, again they've got the pitching staff to do it,
so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Speaker 4 (01:59:58):
Yeah, thank you, Scott, appreciated for the call.

Speaker 3 (02:00:00):
Man.

Speaker 4 (02:00:00):
I mean those numbers make sense. I mean they're if
they're tenth eleventh offensively in those two categories, they're five
games over five hundred. They're a fine team. I just
don't know if they're a playoff team, So I don't
know that that really surprises me all that much. But again,
the big point is a third of the games they

(02:00:22):
score two or fewer runs. That's the sticking point.

Speaker 2 (02:00:25):
Yep, not consistent enough. Let's grab one more call.

Speaker 4 (02:00:28):
Let's go up to Boston and talk to John Boston.

Speaker 2 (02:00:31):
What's up, John, Well.

Speaker 36 (02:00:33):
What's up, guys? How are my friends in Cincinnati doing?

Speaker 2 (02:00:36):
You know, living the dream?

Speaker 4 (02:00:37):
I think it's kind of a sleepy day around here today, John.
I don't know, we got one of those two.

Speaker 36 (02:00:42):
It's like seventy six degrees, it's not humid, so it's
kind of like a a pretty pretty calm day here
in Boston. As well, the reason for the call is
it's still kind of maddening with this offensive line, right,
I mean, you have the toughest thing to find in sports,
was an elite franchise quarterback is like for of these
guys walking around, and I think, all things being equal,

(02:01:03):
you have the best quarterback, yet you're protecting him and
securing him as if you're putting the whole diamond in
a junk draw. I mean, you just have to do
a bust job along the offensive line. I still go
to Scott Peters in a sense because let go by
Cleveland in twenty three, let go by the Patriots last year,
and now Cincinnati has an offensive line was being paid
by Cleveland, and I just think, Tony, you played quarterback

(02:01:25):
at a very high level of By the way, congratulations
on the Hall of Fame announcement.

Speaker 4 (02:01:30):
You're welcome.

Speaker 36 (02:01:31):
At some point they is this offensive line maybe being
too analytical, too much analysis, paralysis through analysis that at
some point it's like just block the guy. I mean,
it may be too complicated for some guys to pick up.
And it's a very high tech type of offensive line
system that he's trying to incorporate. Is the disciple of
Bill Callahan, which is great, but maybe it's just a

(02:01:53):
little bit too much for the boys to learn just quickly.

Speaker 2 (02:01:57):
Yeah, I'm going to give them, like I said, I'll
give them a little bit more. But if we get
into the thick of next week and we're talking about
the same and we don't see enough in preseason game
number one, you've got to legitimately start wondering what the
next plan is.

Speaker 4 (02:02:11):
I think that's a good point, John, And maybe something
we haven't done enough of is give them a little
bit of grace with learning a new system. But still
it's not like they have a lot of time. And
if the whole theme of the offseason has been to
start fast, well, then they have about a month now
to get that system down.

Speaker 2 (02:02:28):
Pat.

Speaker 36 (02:02:30):
Yeah, and I think they will start fast because I
think the defense is going to be good enough to
be better than it was last year, which isn't all
that difficult.

Speaker 4 (02:02:37):
We see this all the time.

Speaker 36 (02:02:39):
It was bad last year, right, Yeah, I mean we
know that for sure, but oftentimes we've seen the NFL
guy that a defense that's twenty six to one year
could be sixteenth with a little tweaking different message from
the defensive coordinator new defensive coordinator. Young guys playing in
bounce of ball a certain way, a little better in
the red zone. Next thing, you know, you're the sixteenth
right defense. Well with that offense, that's twelve thirteen and

(02:03:00):
certainly a super Bowl. Guys, always always a pleasure speaking
with you.

Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
Yeah, we appreciate you listening. Thanks for always calling in. Uh,
we'll get our final break in. We got mulwagger. Next
quick hits since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 14 (02:03:15):
He's the first scheme of the three season.

Speaker 1 (02:03:17):
Three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station.
It's time for Sincy three sixty quick hits on ESPN
fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (02:03:30):
Here we're back. Yeah, there he is. We're looking for him.
I think he's in studio. I'm still here at the
practice fields. Thanks to our friends at a door and window,
they sell the best and service.

Speaker 3 (02:03:42):
There he is.

Speaker 2 (02:03:43):
I believe the building. What's up?

Speaker 4 (02:03:46):
No, how are we doing?

Speaker 3 (02:03:48):
Guys?

Speaker 10 (02:03:49):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (02:03:49):
Man?

Speaker 4 (02:03:49):
Long time notes? You just get back?

Speaker 3 (02:03:51):
Uh sort of?

Speaker 2 (02:03:52):
Yeah, okay man, did you had traffic on the way?

Speaker 4 (02:03:55):
I had to make a stop.

Speaker 2 (02:03:57):
Okay, it is it's it's Tuesday. It is the Bengals
will travel to Philadelphia tomorrow. They'll play their first preseason
game Thursday, which leads me to question, what do you
have coming up on the show today?

Speaker 3 (02:04:12):
First of all, Joe Danneman, You're welcome. Yeah, I heard
you were very excited about my happy gilmour To review.

Speaker 2 (02:04:20):
Yeah, he was pumped.

Speaker 3 (02:04:21):
He was pumped. You guys were deflated or you were deflated,
Tony Austin, you don't go to a little bit. Paul
is going to be with us in the first hour
of the show. You know, he wrote about Miles Murphy
and what a big year this is for him. But
I read Paul's piece and I can't help but ask
a very important question. We'll get to that particular question
coming up in the three o'clock hour. We have now

(02:04:44):
arrived at the portion of the preseason that I've been dreading.
We talked about this a little bit before. Is it
better just not watch Thursday night?

Speaker 7 (02:04:55):
It might be.

Speaker 4 (02:04:58):
I gotta do the postgame show. I'm gonna go see
Darius Rocker. Oh well, you can catch me after the show.
I'll be on till two am. I might call in, Okay,
I might call in last time I tried to call,
you didn't take my call. That's not true.

Speaker 3 (02:05:10):
I called Rocky Boyman's postgame show once after the Bengals
playoff lost to the Colts.

Speaker 4 (02:05:14):
How'd that go? I'm glad that audio doesn't exist.

Speaker 3 (02:05:17):
Oh so we have hourly training camp updates with Tony
Pike coming up three forty five, four forty five, and
five forty five. We also are giving away tickets to
next Thursdays, No, next Wednesdays Red's Phillies game, which will
include a postgame concert by Train, Meet, Meet Virginia, Hey

(02:05:39):
Soul sister Train, and you have to know your Red's
Phillies connections and your reds Cubs connections. Oh, we'll give
away those tickets at four thirty and five thirty. Also
Trisha Whittaker from Apple TV. She is on the call
Friday Night, Red's Buckos, Red's Pirates Come On, which is
an Apple TV game. Tricia is gonna join us. You
know she went to IU, so we're gonna have her

(02:06:01):
on the show at five oh five.

Speaker 4 (02:06:03):
That and so much more. Actually kind of excited it's
an Apple TV game, are you? Yeah? I'm not because
I get that phone call from my father in law.

Speaker 3 (02:06:12):
Well, where's the game?

Speaker 4 (02:06:13):
Where's the game, mister O'Connor.

Speaker 2 (02:06:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:06:15):
I can't tell you. I you know it's Apple TV,
Apple TV. It's the same every time.

Speaker 2 (02:06:20):
Yeah, I get it. No, I want to report to
you that the tractor and the other ride along thing
are still out here working on these fields.

Speaker 4 (02:06:30):
Those guys are paid by the hour.

Speaker 9 (02:06:31):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:06:32):
It's incredible the condition in which these fields look right now.
I would almost use the term pristine.

Speaker 3 (02:06:40):
Very much.

Speaker 4 (02:06:40):
So, I mean, you got to keep that grass short, right, It's.

Speaker 2 (02:06:42):
Nice, Yeah, it's nice down here. They've done it. They've
done a very good job. I know we've we've kind
of exhausted everything with the Bengals.

Speaker 3 (02:06:49):
No, we haven't come on, no, no, no, but we haven't.
We haven't talked about this team from every conceivable angle yet,
have we.

Speaker 4 (02:06:57):
Evani Warriston didn't get mentioned today.

Speaker 2 (02:06:59):
I don't believe. I don't think I can. Didn't see
him take a kick today, country put his shoes. I
find if he was out here today. Bruce Feldman, he
comes out with his freak list every year. Well, three
more Bearcats made the list this year. We have not
had a deep dive yet. Into UC football. Have you

(02:07:20):
heard anything surrounding Bearcats training camp that has led you
to believe or think differently of maybe what you view
this season as.

Speaker 3 (02:07:30):
Of right now, I have not. What I have heard
a lot about is a player who is on that
Bruce Feldman list, and that's Jeff Caldwell, who was a
transfer from Lyndenwood, which is a Division two school, put
up good numbers six four and a half close to
two hundred and ten pounds broad jump of eleven to nine,

(02:07:50):
and Bruce writes, you know, for context, that's seven inches
longer than any wide out jump at this year's Combine event.
It would also have tied for the farthest any wide
receiver has ever jumped at the vertical jump of thirty
six point five inches.

Speaker 4 (02:08:02):
Now, all this sounds great. Can he play football?

Speaker 3 (02:08:04):
I have no idea, but reading about Jeff Caldwell reminded
me that every time I've had a conversation with somebody
who has been a camp, they've talked a lot about him.
And I guess my question has been from the get go,
what can they do offensively that they couldn't do last year?
Which is a different way of asking, Hey, last season
they had no explosive plays. They couldn't throw deep. You
might argue they wouldn't throw deep. Is that going to change?

(02:08:28):
And everything that I've heard has suggested that, based on
the skill players, the answer should be yes. Now that's great.
Here's what I want to know, is Brendan sorosb going
to be willing to cut it loose because you could
look at their personnel and I think you would agree, Tony.
You could look at their personnel last year and go, Okay,
they don't have a lot of weapons. That's fine. But
I saw a quarterback who got gun shy right after

(02:08:49):
that UCF game and in the second half of the
season he didn't get out of it. If that continues,
this team goes nowhere. If that doesn't continue, Can I
get the quarterback who looked like one of the better
cus be's in the Big twelve for the first seven
weeks last year. If the answer is yes, this team
can take off. So there is that. Also, nobody seems
to have any idea what they have in the secondary.

(02:09:09):
We talk a lot about the familiarity with the three
to three five scheme. We talk a lot about how
Dante Corleone has had a normal offseason. They should be
better up front because remember last year on the defensive
line they had a lot of injuries to start the season.
But the secondary seems like a huge unknown, big what
if And I'm not sure we're gonna get answers about
that unit until four weeks from Thursday or three weeks

(02:09:29):
on Thursday.

Speaker 2 (02:09:31):
By the way, Jeff Codwell, Jake Golde, Dante Corleono the
three on the list. How about this? Though Dan Horge
gave this earlier. Current Bengals who have made the list
for Bruce Feldman, Dylan Fairchild, Chris Jenkins, PJ. Jewles, Miles Murphy,
Andre Joshibosh, DJ Turner, Tyson Anderson Allow, Chase and Desmond

(02:09:52):
RITTERJ J.

Speaker 4 (02:09:55):
Owles, Who the hell is Pjles? PJ Jewles' backup save
the same thing? I he was on a cartoon that
my daughter likes.

Speaker 3 (02:10:03):
PJ.

Speaker 4 (02:10:04):
Jewels. There's a lot of diamond mask PJ. Jewles.

Speaker 2 (02:10:09):
Okay, Well, what's going on down?

Speaker 3 (02:10:14):
What is everything?

Speaker 2 (02:10:15):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (02:10:15):
I don't know if Tony even knows, but just happen
for for for.

Speaker 3 (02:10:18):
A second, you sounded like you were like half auto
tune half. I don't I'm some sort of monster. I
don't know what was going on your levels?

Speaker 2 (02:10:26):
U trying to We're essentially just trying to disassemble everything
while we're still finishing.

Speaker 4 (02:10:32):
John say that I was joining us from.

Speaker 2 (02:10:35):
I'm not kidding, Moody. Uh, the tarp has been removed
from the top of the tent.

Speaker 4 (02:10:41):
Jewels who PJ Jewles is all right? You and you
and Paul should spend about fifteen minutes on PJ.

Speaker 3 (02:10:49):
All right. I bet I'm looking at him right now.
He's a beast college free agent sign you have. Last year,
he was on a practice squad. Last season, he was
on Bruce Feldman's freak List.

Speaker 4 (02:10:58):
Get drafted, Duke Tobin Masterclass. PJ Jewels, Baby, let's go,
PJ Jewels.

Speaker 2 (02:11:03):
If do you want your quarterback on the freak list?

Speaker 10 (02:11:07):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (02:11:08):
No, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:11:09):
What do you want to see from? What do you
want to see from dez Ritter Thursday night?

Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
I want to see him operate the offense smoothly and officially,
I want to see a reason to not get a
PJ Jewels jersey because I'm buying a Dez Ritter jersey.
I want to see PJ Jewels have a big game,
So like I can look on Twitter on Friday morning
when I actually watched the game and say like, oh,
you know who he is?

Speaker 2 (02:11:29):
MO, PJ.

Speaker 4 (02:11:33):
Jewles, No, guys, sound like Tony did a couple of
minutes ago.

Speaker 2 (02:11:39):
It's just a lot. There's a lot going on. PJ.

Speaker 4 (02:11:43):
Jewles does sound like the Jewels are going to get
a pick now. Because of this whole I need.

Speaker 3 (02:11:47):
To come up with a pole question asking folks, what
does PJ. Jewles name sound like he does?

Speaker 4 (02:11:53):
Who's that quarter Don't the Eagles have some random quarterback
that they picked up Jalen Hurts, No enough, Kyle McCord,
is it Kyle McCord? Yeah? Yeah, PJ Jewels will pick
off Kyle McCord. I hope he does on Thursday. I
hope the hell that happens.

Speaker 2 (02:12:11):
Story.

Speaker 4 (02:12:12):
Kyle McCord is pretty good at throwing the ball to
the other team, There's no doubt about that. I hope
that PJ.

Speaker 3 (02:12:16):
Jewels makes the team and then we can be the
you know, the the brunt of the joke all year long,
the guy that they didn't even know who he was
ends up being the long term replacement for Jesse Bates
was Lamar Jackson on the freaks list.

Speaker 2 (02:12:32):
I would assume yes, I would assume it.

Speaker 4 (02:12:35):
Wouldn't know how many other quarterbacks have been on it.

Speaker 3 (02:12:38):
I mean, if you're an NFL player, if you're a
National Football League player, on some levels, shouldn't you be
on a list of freaks you're an NFL player.

Speaker 4 (02:12:47):
Well, that one list of freaks they won't release.

Speaker 2 (02:12:53):
Uh Nic fifteenth day. It's all the time we have today.
Mike is pushing me out of here as so I'm
gonna two fifty four. Yeah, Mulllegger's next.

Speaker 3 (02:13:09):
When I left really quick, I know, we got like
thirty seconds here. I walked to my car, there's a
guy standing outside the parking lot and he goes like,
as I'm walking from the field, and he points over
there and he goes, what's going on in there?

Speaker 2 (02:13:22):
Oh, what do you think?

Speaker 4 (02:13:23):
Grass just had football practice?

Speaker 2 (02:13:26):
Dude?

Speaker 22 (02:13:26):
Hell?

Speaker 4 (02:13:27):
And I said, what's your name? Because I'm PJ.

Speaker 2 (02:13:30):
Jewles. Just the best. We're Done's next on ESPN Sports
