continued support of the Cincinnati Bengals for all these many years.
(00:55):
Most sticking around for a few minutes, Austin Elmore is
with us. We have a ton to get to with
the Bengals. Austin, I just wanted to give you a
minute here. The ruling has come down on Michigan, and
I think Sharon Moore is in the right. He mentioned
that the text that he deleted that was a storage
space thing. He was out of space on his phone.
(01:17):
He had to delete some text to get.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
That's what he said, and then he later admitted he lied.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, in all honesty.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
Remember when Sharon Moore cried like a baby because he
was being accused of cheating and then he admitted to cheating.
I do that's kind of funny.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
What did you make in all honesty? Because mo and
I were discussing, you know, the idea of being suspended
for games and being allowed to pick the games you're
being suspended for. It doesn't make much sense to me
about anything, but from someone who's followed along this obviously
with your allegiance to the Ohio State buck guys, what
was your take on the ruling that came down.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Not surprised at all that they got to slap on
the wrist because the NC Double A is a fraud,
you an incompetent organization, and we've known that for a long,
long long time. I knew that they couldn't really vacate
wins or strip them of the title because the College
Football Playoff is independent of the NC DOUBLEA, so they
have no power to do that. I didn't really expect that,
(02:15):
but I guess it's about what I expected. The only
thing I really cared about was did the NCUBA find
that all of this stuff actually happened, mainly because Michigan
and Connor Stallions and others have cried and whined and
moaned and saying we never did any of this, and
there is a mountain of evidence saying that there is,
(02:36):
and to me, it directly impacted football games in the
three year scouting windows, stein stealing, scouting window, whatever you
want to call it, that Connor Stallions was doing this.
Michigan was forty and three in the three years prior
to that, or in the forty five games prior to that,
they were twenty nine and sixteen. So all of a sudden,
a Connor Stallion's illegal sign stealing operation begins and they
(03:00):
win forty out of forty three games in a national championship.
That is not a good coincidence, and it's just annoying
because they cheated and they got away with it. Every
team in the country would pay twenty million dollars, which
is nothing to a school with an eighteen billion dollar endowment.
If it means that they get a national championship. Yeah,
and so that's what happened.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
What punishment from your perspective, what punishment would.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Have made you feel satisfied that they took away all
the wins in those three years and the national championship.
But I knew it was never gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Yeah, anything short of that was disappointment.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Yeah. I mean, who cares about Jim Harball?
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Right, he cannot coach a college football game till twenty
thirty eight.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
My favorite part was that the Ncublea said quote Harball
ran a program that was largely dismissive of rules of
rules compliance. There was little if any emphasis on following
the rules, which you know, it's the NCUBLEA. Nobody cares
about the rules. Everybody breaks the rules. There's I mean,
that's how it is. Just it sucks. It sucks because
(04:04):
I hate them. That's why. I mean, if this was
Oklahoma State, I don't care what if it was all
I would be pissed.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
You would be pissed at them. Yeah, for cheating?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yes, right, it's fair, Like how could I like you
know what I mean? Like, how do you live with yourself?
It's like Duke Tobin putting Lucas Patrick at guard. How
do you sleep at night?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Well, I mean if you said, what would you do?
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Mo?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
If it meant you see won a national title and
then received this punishment years late.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
When I was a kid, I would watch the WWF
and I watched Randy Macho Man Savage reach into his
pants and pull out a foreign object to knock out
Tito Santana at the Boston Garden and pinned him and
everybody saw it. Randy Macho Man Savage raised his arm
in triumph and grabbed the belt. And that's what I
(04:51):
would do. We won, Yep, we won.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
As someone that would I take that into heartbeat for
the bear Cats.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
We won like vacated and we won like if I
was a Michigan fan, trust me had I. If I
was an Ohio State fan and my team lost to
them in high stakes games, it would bother me, no
doubt about it. I'm fully willing to admit though, if
that's my If I was a Houston Astros fan, I go, Yeah,
twenty seventeen year old champs, we backed the can. Sorry,
(05:20):
like that's just how it works in sports.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Where you lose me is when Michigan fans try to
pretend like nothing happened, right, right, and so I'm with you.
To me, the only real satisfactory outcome is at acknowledgment
that rules were broken. You can do both. You could say, look,
my team won the championship and it makes me feel
happy and I'll always cherish it. But you know what,
my team broke the rules.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah, and if you're okay with that as a fan, fine,
I would still celebrate the heck out of that, right.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
I will say this, It makes it worse as an
Ohio State fan that the Buckeys lost all those games. Yeah,
you know, and then twenty twenty they bailed and you know,
claimed the whole COVID thing. But like, losing all those
games and since then makes this so much worse because
if Ohio stated won, then fans would say, well, you
(06:09):
guys cheated and you still couldn't beat us, and that
would be the best thing to possibly say to them.
But we can't.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
So uh, just to put a bow on this, We've
put this behind us, right, like this is it?
Speaker 3 (06:18):
This is it?
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Now? What whatever happened to the legislation about the flag planning?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
We've got We've got some real, real idiots in the
Ohio Senate. I don't know if you know that or not.
There are some very stupid lawmakers that the folks have
elected in this great state. Is that still pending? That
guy is so dumb. He's so dumb.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
Some state senator from like the Toledo area.
Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yes, too, he's like a Michigan fan.
Speaker 5 (06:45):
Make it a felony. He wants to make it a
felony to plant a flag a football game.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
I will say this though, to answer most question, it's
I will forever When conversing and debating with Michigan fans
always bring up the fact that there was a three
year window that they were forty and three and the
only way that happened was because they were cheating. So
is it ever going to really be behind them when
(07:11):
the people that you know, when you're constantly bickering with
one another and you hate each side, I don't know
if it's ever really going to be behind you.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Speaking of playing a flag, Chris Jenkins planning another one
from Michigan here today, rooted. We'll get to that. Let's
work backwards here real quick. What's going on on the
field right now? Because practice has been over for about
fifteen minutes. This is probably the most we've seen players
stay after practice, right, And what I do like is
for about the last ten minutes, Jamar Chase has been
(07:41):
walking over different routes and movements in and out of
routes with Jamar Chase and Andre Yoshi vash that. Obviously,
I think if you're Yoshi, you want to be like
a sponge, and anything that Jamar Chase is willing to
share and work with you, you take that. But this
is by far the most we've seen players stay after practice.
(08:01):
What I thought was interesting, and know you were here
Wednesday obviously for it. Wednesday was built as like this
kind of last at the top of the mountain type
of day, like this is gonna be a hard day's work,
a lot of evaluating, and then it'll kind of be
downhill for the rest of camp. I thought the work
(08:22):
they got in today was just as much, if not
more than what we saw Wednesday. And they added one
on ones, seven on sevens, they did multiple team periods,
a third down emphasis today, a goal line emphasis today,
an unscripted emphasis today. I thought from an eleven on
eleven standpoint and a ones verse one standpoint, we saw
more of that today than we did on Wednesday.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
No doubt about it. Yeah, no doubt about it. I
just to me, today, look crisp. Today, looked urgent. Today
looked well put together. Today looked organized, Like, all right,
there's offensive line issues. Those weren't gonna be fixed today.
Like if if you woke up this morning not sure
about Lucas Patrick, I'm not sure he could have had
(09:03):
a perfect practice and we'd go, you know what, they're
good at guard like the the the the the highlight
that James tweeted out that has gone viral is only
gonna throw a log onto the fire. I was hoping
for today the same that I was hoping for in
the preseason game. More organized, better put together, less slop,
(09:23):
more explosiveness, more crispness. And for the most part I
got that today.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
It was certainly more organized than what we saw Wednesday
on both sides of onoth the.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Sorry, get one of those dragonflies.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
There have been more dragonflies, certainly enough today than I've
ever seen. But no, it was it was more organized, Austin,
can you because we both agreed at the end of
the Tony Moe training camp show that I would say
the offense won the day, but the defense won in
the trenches. With what we know about this team, can
you say that the offense can win the if they
(10:00):
don't win in the trenches? Uh, seven on seven offense one,
one on one offense.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
One, because we've seen them win games like that. Yes, agree, yeah, yeah.
And to me, you know, as much as you talk
about the clip of Lucas Patrick going into low Earth
orbit by Chris Jenkins, I'm excited about that because my
big thing after the Philadelphia game was that the Bengals
defensive line looks soft, They looked patty cake, they looked weak.
(10:26):
And this week in practice and response to that, I
feel like we've seen a lot more of them being
aggressive and physical at the point of attack in the trenches,
which is a good thing not only for them, but
also you would think for the Bengals offensive line to
be able to go up against that every day.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Yeah, I uh, I can't help but but enjoy what
we know the offense can be and also still be
concerned about who they are upfront.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Yeah, and that's not going to change anytime soon.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
And I think that's the issue, right is that you
kind of know that's what it is at this point,
barring an unbelievable release by another team of a guard
and you pick one up and say, Okay, we're good now.
It feels like that's going to be one of the
overhanging things that we talk about. Again, especially early on
in the season, mentioned Connor Orr's predictions had the Bengals
(11:17):
starting one and four Austin. Yet a couple of days
ago you said one in three is what Austin. So
if it's one and three, if it's one and four
and the offensive line is in the position they're in,
I can't imagine what the conversation around Cincinnati is.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Well, the conversation is going to be about holding someone
accountable for that, and the conversation is going to be
about how the doubts that people had about the bengals
championship worthiness have been realized. I mean, to me, what
the early part of the season is all about is
number one, just change the narrative about slow starts, but
(11:52):
also do something to make people feel like this team
is in the upper crust of the AFC, because now
it's Kansas City, Buffalo and Baltimore and then all right,
there are some other teams that are trying to join
that mix.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
I think we all think those teams trying to join
the mix, the Bengals with the top I think yeah.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
But I think we all believe, all right, the Bengals
of Joe Burrow played seventeen games. They're gonna be a
playoff team last year is gonna prove to be an outlier.
But can they win the Super Bowl? And if you
start one and four, no one's gonna think the answer
is yes. If they start four and one, folks are
gonna go Okay, they've put the slow start behind them.
This team's track record later in the season is awesome, Like,
(12:32):
holy crap, that's not gonna be a team you want
to play in January. Maybe they can win the division. Hell,
maybe they can be the number one seed in the AFC.
One in four. You're not doing that. One in four,
You're probably not win the division. One in four. It's
playing more catch up just to sneak into the postseason.
And if that's what you're doing, you're not being taken
seriously as a championship team. My one.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
I had this conversation yesterday Austin when I got home
from work with a buddy of mine of you know
what did you think of camp where you think of
where this the direction is going, and there's a lot
of unknowns around this team. But wouldn't it just be
nice one year to get to week eleven or week
twelve and not be worrying about can they make the playoffs?
(13:18):
But hey, what seeding are they playing for? Is a
number one seed within reach? Because we've not been able
to do that. You talk like in baseball, we talk
about high stress innings all the time. This team plays
in more high stress games because it feels like they
put themselves in such a hole early in the season
that everything starts to feel like it must win. Last year,
(13:39):
that end of the season was so mentally exhausting because
you're scoreboard watching and you're you're hanging on to everything
that they're doing. Gosh, how nice would it be one
season to get to week twelve and look at the
schedule ahead and say, Okay, they got a chance at
the one seed here, they got a chance to get
a bye, they got a chance to be the home
(13:59):
or or playoff games. They got a chance to win
the AFC North, or they're in the driver's seat of
the AFC North Austin. That would be that would be
such a welcome site. We've done the same thing with
baseball for years as well, but that would be such
a just a mental block that you could unload of
not having those high stress situations every single game.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yeah, but the Bengals haven't done the things that would
put them into position to do that that. The offensive
line is still a major question mark. The defensive line,
your best player is not participating. Yeah, I mean the
whole changes to the offseason program. That's cool, and hopefully
they do start faster, but right now, roster as currently
constructed doesn't feel like it's one that fits that mold,
(14:40):
and he doesn't feel like they're gonna be at week twelve,
ten and one, or nine and three or whatever it is.
They're just not in that position.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
And obviously if you start one in three or something
along those lines, that goes out the door right away,
and then the rest of a seventeen games slate feels
like eternity.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
You know, last year they went on this five game wins,
and I think it looking at this year too, they
have a chance to end the season with three, maybe
four straight wins, but it demands perfection. You kind of
talked about how difficult. It is, but it demands you
can't have any missteps. You can't have a big injury,
you can't have a call go against you late in
the season, or it will completely destroy your chances.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
And that's a big part. Yeah, the idea is to
win the title. Right, what's the easiest way to win
the title? Stay in here, play as few postseason games
as possible, and play them all here. If you start
one in three, you're out. It's not gonna happen. Like
in twenty twenty two, they started oh to two. That
cost them a chance to host the AFC Championship game. Now, yeah,
(15:43):
there was the demor Hamlet situation in the game cancelation,
but that came back to bite them. They started oh
to two that season, so no number one seed. Obviously
in twenty twenty three, it was just can you sneak in?
They couldn't because they started to two. Last year. You
had to win your last five games just to get
to over five hundred. You didn't make the postseason because
you started zero to three. But like, if this is
(16:07):
if they're in their championship win though. The best way
to win a title, the easiest path to a title,
which is it's still not easy. Is you host every
playoff game and you skip the first one. You cannot
do that if you're constantly trying to play catch up.
We do it every year in October. Okay, well, how
many wins is it gonna take? Okay, they've got to
get to ten? Man, all right, that means they've got
(16:29):
they're gonna have to go eight and five the rest
of the way. I think, for once it would be awesome,
Like even in twenty twenty two, they're four and four,
they'd win their last eight games just to finish with
twelve wins? Wouldn't it be fun? Gosh to get too
close to Halloween and you're looking at the standings, going, man,
Baltimore's got to figure out a way to make up
two games, yep. For Pittsburgh's got to figure out a
way to make up two games. Or Buffalo's got to
(16:51):
figure out a way to make up a game on them.
They never do that. So I asked you this, and Austin,
I'll throw it to you. Man, like Connor orson, they
go one and four. Forget how the rest of the
season would unfold. What then next summer? What then next offseason?
Like what's what's the the preseason elixir? This year? It's
more physicality, training camp practices in the morning. Borrow's gonna
(17:14):
play in the preseason. We're gonna show more urgency during
OTAs well. Okay, you're just gonna do all those things
on steroids next year.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Right, Yeah. I don't know what the answer to that is.
I really don't, and I think, to be completely honest,
the answer is that they suck at team building and
they are flawed in the way that they do things.
I've already said, and I think you and I saw
this differently, mo Is. You know, I know how the
NFL works, but to me, the way that they've approached
(17:43):
this offseason or continue to deal with Trey and the
guard situation as a whole, should take pressure off of
Zach Taylor because he's being dealt a team that's not
readily available and ready to get to the AFC Championship Game. Again,
that's just how I think of the roster. And I
have them at ten and se I know a lot
of people that cover this team every day have him
at twelve and thirteen wins. I just don't see how
(18:04):
they get to that, And so I understand you know,
he's the head coach and this is his job to
maximize the talent that he's given. But at the same time,
he doesn't have a roster in my mind, that's capable
of winning the Super Bowl right now. And so the
difference or what then would be, Okay, how do we
(18:24):
change the way we build the roster, because clearly this
isn't working.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
What's the difference of a roster that's incapable of winning
the Super Bowl or the roster's not there? But you
still have Joe Burrow in this offense that can compete
for a.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
Super Bowl ultimate equalizer. He can be the guy who
puts the team on his back, which start to the postseason,
which he's done before. But again, it is demanding perfection,
and you're also asking this dude not to get hurt
when you're putting Swiss cheese in front of him.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Yep, yeah, I mean, I think there's multiple ways to
look at Zach Taylor. I am I'm loath to call
him a bad coach because I think the guy's had
some successes and he's done some things that I think,
you know, he can he can hang and put on
his resume, and that's that's a sloppy way.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
To put it.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
But it's not how we view Zach Taylor. It's how
the Bengals as an organization view Zach Taylor. I think
they are comfortable with how they build the roster. I
think they are comfortable with how they approach free agency.
I think they are comfortable with how they've handled last
year's team versus this year's team. And so if this
season results in failure, I think it's it might not
(19:34):
be fair for us. But I think they're going to
look at it and go, Okay, Well, the problem is
the head coach like we gave.
Speaker 3 (19:40):
Because they already did what it was the decordinator left.
Speaker 5 (19:43):
I think the Bengals right wrong, are indifferent. They are
secure with their I think they feel their roster is
better top to bottom than we do, and I.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Think I get that. But the problem is they shouldn't
be that. If we really narrow it down, is the
Bengals should not be comfortable with this style of roster, but.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Not with their hopes and dreams.
Speaker 5 (20:02):
No, but I mean like, but but then, okay, let's
say similar results to last year nine and eight, you know,
just on the outside looking at or make the postseason,
but don't make any noise. Last year it was it
was these coaches. This year it would turn into it's
the head coach, right right? I agree, I agree. I
(20:22):
don't know that that's the most fair way of looking
at it.
Speaker 3 (20:25):
But that's that's next in the pecking one.
Speaker 5 (20:26):
Well that's next, and they're gonna go, okay, well, you know,
last year we blame Lou. Now we're gonna blame Zach
and and maybe at some point the wheel will turn
and the arrow will point the Duke Tobin. I don't know,
but I I get the sense that the people who
make roster decisions are comfortable with the makeup of a
unit that we view as flawed, like the line, a
unit that we look a look at, look at as
(20:47):
flawed and in the overall defense and a number of
position groups.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
But they see these videos too, they see the film too,
the same thing that we're watching. They're scene which I
don't understand how that Yeah, I don't understand how that works.
I understand how you watch the same stuff and saying.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
I cannot I cannot imagine running this franchise and looking
at the offensive line and only signing one guy from outside.
I cannot imagine watching last year's defense and going, you
know what, we're not touching safety or corner.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
Especially if we get this safety to take a pay cover.
Speaker 5 (21:16):
We cannot imagine watching last year's defense and not wanting
to do a major overhaul at a number of positions.
Like I can put myself in Duke Tobin's seat and go,
here are the things that I would do. But if you,
you know, if you're gonna make it about how they
do things, and as it relates to Zach Taylor, well
we're not in that seat. Duke Tobin is, and Mike
Brown's in his seat, and I believe that they will
(21:37):
view any shortcomings this season that look like last year
and pin that on the head coach. And again I'm
not sure that's the most fair way to do it,
but I think that's gonna be the most likely outcome
if last year mirrors itself this year.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
What's the difference between signing Noah Fan and signing Dalton Reisner.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Yeah, Yeah, it's it's fair.
Speaker 5 (21:58):
Yep, it's it's their Their evaluation of the offensive line
is puzzling. Yeah, And what I think what has happened
so far in training camp hasn't done anything to make
anybody feel any better about the Tams on the offensive line.
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Speaking of the old line, we handled segment like the
O line with our clock management. Our clock management felt
like the Bengals offensive line performance of the last couple
of days.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Marvin lewis in here.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
We'll try to be better since he three sixty live

in just a few minutes. On the race Saint Claire
Roofing hotline, I wanted to follow up one thing mo
before we let you go with with today's practice. By
all accounts, by what those on social media are saying,
that we're closer to the action. Unbelievable day from Joe
(23:53):
Burrow and Jamar Chase, and defensive line pretty much worked.
The offensive line is the consensus that you get to
Shamar Stewart after practice said that he went and apologized
to Joe Burrow after the incident on Wednesday. Joe's response
very simply put no worries, Just do more of that
on Sundays. Yeah, I think that's all it needed to be.
(24:15):
Of course, you get a little slap on the wrist,
you move there.
Speaker 5 (24:17):
It's a simple conversation. Now, it didn't need to turn
into I mean, look, we got talk radio topics out
of it, so maybe we're partially at fault, but it
didn't need to turn into a bigger thing other than hey,
young fella, let's just dial it back a hair, but
we need that on Sunday. We need that when it's
Lamar Jackson back there and Aaron Rodgers back there and
(24:37):
Shadora Sanders or Joe Flacco back there, like Trevor Lawrence.
Like I brought this up the other day, We've talked
a lot about Miles Murphy. Miles Murphy, it's being wondered,
like does he really want to do this?
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Well, that was gonna be my follow up. So Chamar
has played really well. Yeah, oh SI's been quiet, but
he's been out here. Sure, no tray And now we've
not seen Miles Murphy in a couple they's not even
on the rehab field. What do you do if you
if you don't have a true chance to evaluate anything
from Miles Murphy the rest of the way, How do
you how do you navigate week one from a snap
(25:10):
standpoint cut down day?
Speaker 4 (25:11):
You go get it such Rusher, Yeah, it's not a joke.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Safety edge guard. Cut down day is gonna be busy.
Speaker 5 (25:19):
Looks like my grocery list all of a sudden, not
cut down day. But like Austin, I'm right, I mean.
Speaker 4 (25:23):
You're exactly right. That's their plan. To supplement this roster
is Waiver claims. That's how they've done it the last
few years. They're gonna do it again. They're gonna pick
up a guard, They're gonna pick up an edge rusher.
It's exactly what they're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
And have you seen anything to this point? Being down
like that would tell you Miles Murphy is a solid
option week one in Cleveland?
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Hell no, no?
Speaker 3 (25:44):
Right? I mean, so, what are you going to Cleveland
with right now? Oh? Si Okay, Shamar Stewart great, great
camp still a rookie, Trey Hendrickson. Trey Hendrickson might be
on a snap count. Yeah, like, what are your options
at d end m.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
You might be able to survive that game with that
rush in the passer?
Speaker 5 (26:03):
Call Sam Hubbard, call Carlos Dunlap. Oh boy, Robert Gathers.
Still got a few.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Who could give you? Who would be better right now?
Sam Hubbard or Carlos Dunlap.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
I would think Sam Hubbard looks like he's keeping himself
in shape.
Speaker 5 (26:21):
I don't, I don't know you.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
That's the conversation we're left having week one against Cleveland.
What do you pick up the phone to Carlos or saying.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
But would you put it past him to go no,
you know, Sam, Sam, Sam can come in and give
us fifteen snaps. Tony, I don't know, Like, yeah, it's
it's it's putting, it's putting it, it's putting it all
on Shamar Stewart. Who's the one I mean, who's the
one guy who's had like I know, he missed the
first three days the best camp so far. Trey hasn't
(26:50):
had a camp. Miles Murphy's been hurt.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Yeah, did you do anything in the games? Johnson's hurt too.
Speaker 8 (26:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
You can make an argument that he's not been the
best rookie, but he's been the best defender at camp.
Shamar Stewart, oh, without question. Like that's where we're at
right now. Whether that is a indictment on the rest
of the defense or that is high high praise for
Shamar Stewart, it could probably both. But that if I'm
naming right now the defensive MVP of camp to this
point at Shamar Stewart, take without what you want.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
Who would have thought as we sat here on the
first day of camp back on July twenty third, that
that would come out of either your mouth or mind yeah,
I don't know. I don't know. The like they've got
to upgrade. Their pass rush has been a thing now
for three years. That's why they've taken edge rushers in
the first round in two of the last three years.
It's like the offensive what we're still talking about it, right?
Speaker 9 (27:37):
You know?
Speaker 5 (27:37):
I think Shamar Stewart can be a part of the solution.
I fully believe that Trey Hendrickson is gonna play the
first game. But yeah, man, I don't know. It is
a I'm not sure they know.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
That's the thing. I don't know deep down. If they
don't know much, what do we know? We know we
got to get a break in. We've got to say
bye to.
Speaker 5 (27:55):
You Mo bye.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
You're gonna You're gonna.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Join us for quick hits I see in twenty minutes, yep, okay, and.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Then we'll talk throughout the afternoon. Again. We will all
of this coming up on ESPN fifteen thirty. This is
Cincy three sixty. We'll be live here at training camp Austin.
I believe we got u is Charlie Goldsmith gonna join
us at one, Chuck at one, Charlie Goldsmith at won,
Tom Gallader at two, talkbacks and so much more between
now and then, we'll open up the Ray Saint Claire
Roofing Hotline as well. Five one, three, seven, four nine,
fifteen thirty you're listening on the Home of the Bengals
(28:21):
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Hey Alexa, what's going on in baseball?
Speaker 10 (28:26):
Getting ESPN is fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
You found Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Welcome back Cincy three sixty live from Bengals training camp today.
Thanks to our friends at A Door and Window and
especially to Adam Webber for making this possible to be
here at Bengals training camp and for all his support
of the Bengals for all these many years. It's Friday, Austin,
which means we've got talkbacks an hour. Number two. Of course,
(29:03):
Charlie Goldsmith will join us as he normally does. At one,
Tom Galarder to talk a different type of football. At
two o'clock, Mowagger will join us again. We've got to
give away a gift card thanks to our friends at
Cincy Shirts today. So so much still to go, which
means while we have a moment, let's go to the race.
Saint Clair Roofing Hotline. I believe we've got our guy
Masa waiting to talk to us.
Speaker 11 (29:24):
Happy Friday boys.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
With Happy Friday, Happy Friday Mayso.
Speaker 12 (29:29):
Oh yeah, you know it.
Speaker 11 (29:30):
Today's list is definitely gonna be. You can tell it's
Friday at the door. I'm ready for the weekend. Let's
have a little fun. This is a stupid one, I'll
I'll just be real. Way to preface, No, So who
is a goofyr looking white guy, Peyton Manning or Peyton Pritchard.
(29:54):
Peyton Manning's five head is that's like the ultimate, you know,
just hell? And then I looked up Peyton Pritchard and
he's not far behind. So I was like, my goodness,
these two guys. I always think of them against each other.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
I always think of that red mark on Peyton's forehead
from his helmet, and I just that's that's how I
view Peyton in my head all the time. So I
gotta go with Peyton.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
I don't think Peyton Pritchard is that obscure looking.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
He looks like Travis Kelsey twenty years ago.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
He really does. Now again Peyton Manning, And as Austin mentioned,
you throw that helmet on where you got that big
red mark on the forehead. I mean, I'd definitely like
to be Peyton Manning more, but I think I would
have to give that to Peyton Manning as well.
Speaker 8 (30:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (30:45):
I always love watching the Manning cast and Eli pulls
out the fat head of Peyton and it's forehead is extended. Yeah,
it's it's classic.
Speaker 13 (30:55):
It's so funny.
Speaker 11 (30:56):
So yeah, anyway, Friday, you got to have a good
weekend and I'll see tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Thank you. All Right, how did he how did he
phrase that question? Goofy your looking white guy?
Speaker 4 (31:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:10):
I think so, it's a Friday from Maso. That ain't
a chance he's at the office. He was, He forgot
he was supposed to do that today and then he
just looked up a you know, famous people's name that
start with P and I think that's what he came.
He was number one on the list, Peyton Prichard. How
(31:31):
about it. That's a I mean, that's kind of a
a shot to Peyton Pritchard. I don't think he looks
that abnormal, normal looking guy. Shout out to that guy
that just read the engine. That guy's probably super cool.
As he drove by here at ah at training camp.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
It's probably pac Man.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Oh boy, I'm talking about obscure. That's a p. That
was a shot, that's a p. Yeah, that's a little
bit of a JAB camp today itself. I thought, as
we've mentioned, they got more work done overall today than
I thought they did on Wednesday, because I always enjoy
the one on one and the seven on seven part
(32:10):
of practices because you isolate and right or wrong, you
isolate the Bengals weakness, which is the offensive line, and
you really get to just kind of sit back and
watch how good these skill guys are. And that to
me was on display today because I will go back
and I'll contend the coverage today was great. It wasn't
(32:32):
like players were running free. It wasn't like it was
just pitch and catch. There were highly contested catches made
from the start of the day to the end of
the day. Like that. That fires me up from a
football perspective because the back end seems to be a
little bit more connected. I mentioned earlier in the day,
Cam Taylor Britt is a guy we've not talked about
(32:55):
much Austin, and it's almost like one of those positions
that if you don't talk much about him. It's a
good thing. Now, Yeah, you want a flash, you want
an interception here and there. But has there been a
time where we've talked about all Jamar Chase catches the
ball up and down the sideline, Uh, no one around him.
It looked like Cam Taylor Britt was the closest and
(33:16):
not to not to throw a jet for a lot
of camp. That was DJ Turner. H Hey, big play.
DJ Turner was in coverage.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
And he responded, yes, has turned it around.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
I don't recall many instances of camp and saying, oh,
someone caught a ball. There's no one around him, and
it was Cam Taylor Brett on coverage. I think that's
a good sign for Cam Taylor Britt and the Bengals.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
M hm.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Cam Taylor Britt has to be their number one, right
if this team wants to if they wanted to reach
any of the level that they helped to.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
I think he goes into the season as their number one,
But I don't know that he finishes the season as
their number one.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
Who would you put that that take that could take
that away?
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Dax Hille Okay, I think it might take him some
time coming off the ACL and it could get at
times ugly or I don't know, I don't know, there
could just be some growing pains there. But yeah, I
think Dax has the ability to take that over just
(34:19):
because of how inconsistent Cam has always been. I think Dax,
if he's able to get healthy, can fully take that role.
If if Cam goes into that inconsistent play again.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Yeah, I do. I do genuinely believe that what we've
seen from the Philadelphia game to now and again, a
lot of this can get thrown out the window on Monday.
I understand that we're talking about a practice point of view.
I feel like from what I've seen, the defense has
responded extremely well since the Philadelphia game. And I know
(34:58):
it's practice, and I they were playing well at times
in training camp before the Philly game. But what would
be the conversation if it'd been the opposite, Austin, If
on Wednesday the offense had seven drives and scored on
six of them, what would we be discussing a terrible
performance against Philly and getting dog walked every day at practice. Instead,
(35:21):
they have responded at practice, and they've done so in
more unscripted situations, which I think is a good step forward.
If it were the up other way around, we would
be having a completely different conversation. But because the defense
has more than held their own, I think we're able
to have a conversation like we are because no one
is nervous at the offense won't score points, right, it
(35:43):
is can the defense do enough to get by? And
I think they've been better since they've returned from the
Philadelphia game.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Yeah, And I do think maybe we've forgotten a little
bit about how imperative it is for them to stop
the run.
Speaker 5 (35:58):
Now.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
They weren't great against the right against Philadelphia, but I
still believe that from a roster constructions point of view,
they're still better against the run, and I expect them
to be better against the run over the course of
the season because that is how teams are going to
try to beat you, especially a team like Cleveland in
Week one. They're going to run the football, They're gonna
(36:20):
try to shorten the game, They're gonna try to limit
your possessions. Think back to Week one last year against
New England. That was their game plan. Jacoby Brissette was
a game manager. He made a couple of plays and
converted big third downs and they snuck through and found
a way to win that game. They forced a turnover
on defense, they shortened the game, they ran the football effectively,
(36:43):
and they were able to squeak out a win. For
a lot of teams, that's gonna be the method of
trying to beat the Bengals is can you run the football?
Can you control the clock? And then with four yeah,
And if you're the Bengals, how can you force teams
into third and lie? How can you give your defense
a little bit more time to cover, your secondary a
(37:04):
little bit more time to cover? And at that point,
does Trey Henderson and Shamar Stewart show up as capable
edge rushers to get you off the field one or
two more times a game than what you did last year?
And if you can, then you can go somewhere this season.
But there's a lot of ifs involved in.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
That, yep, a lot of ifs and a lot of hope,
which we've built a lot of this Bengals offseason. On
we'll take a break, we'll come back, we'll finish up
our number one, and we'll turn it to Charlie Goldsmith
who will join us at one o'clock. It's right here
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, a service of
Skyline Chili.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Hey Alexa, what's going on in the NFL?
Speaker 10 (37:38):
Getting ESPN fifteen thirty from iHeartRadio.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Welcome back sincey three to sixty here at Bengals training
and practice is wrapped up. There are no players left
out here on the field. The grounds crew has taken
the field. We're here thanks to AE Door and Window
where they sell the best and service the rest. Also
Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOE five one three five
one three pH and Oakley Greens where we'll be tomorrow
(38:19):
for my nephew Romans fundraiser from five to ten. And
we're here at the airport paint and body broadcast area
of the race. Saint Clair Roofing Hotline is where we'll
take phone calls in our number three. A couple more
minutes here and then we will switch gears. We'll talk
to Charlie Goldsmith, we'll do your talkbacks, we'll get to
(38:41):
Tom Gallader and so much more between now and three o'clock.
Just a couple minutes here Austin, because I know we'll
get to Charlie. The opportunity at hand, starting tonight at
Great American Ballpark I don't think the Red's gotta go
sweep the Milwaukee brew But what does it do for
(39:02):
this Reds team, who said a half game back today,
if they can find a way to win a series
against a team in Milwaukee who has just flat out
had their number here In recent years.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
We've talked about times where the Reds seem to play
up to their competition. There is no better opportunity than
this weekend. The best team in baseball, the hottest team
in baseball. Offensively, they're incredible, They're pitching has been really good.
It looks like Jacob Mizerowski is going to be on
this trip and is going to pitch at some point
against the starter tonight, not that I've seen. I have
(39:34):
not checked since before the show, so I could be
wrong on that. But I mean, this is a huge
opportunity for the Brewers, or for the Reds to prove
to us and to themselves that they can compete with
the Milwaukee Brewers and with the best teams in baseball Offensively,
(39:56):
Can you take over a series because you're pitching is
carried you all season long. Yes, it is gonna be
a difficult series, Martinez Lttel and I think Abbot on Sunday. Yes,
it is gonna be a difficult series for your pitching staff.
Can the offense pick the team up and carry them
through a three game set? That, to me is the
(40:17):
biggest question. Can you at any point lean on your bats,
which have been good the last couple of nights? Can
you do that against a high quality opponent and an
opponent that you should be pissed off has owned you
for the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
The hottest team in Major League Baseball comes into your
building and it's an Apple TV broadcast, and you have
an opportunity to not just send a message here, you
could send a message nationally here. Sure you could send
the message of hey, don't forget about us. There is
a scenario that could play itself out tonight Austin. By
(40:53):
the end of the night, the Reds are in the
wild card. Sure Metts play Seattle. Seattle's playing really good baseball.
Red's host the the Milwaukee Brewers. There's a chance that
if things play out, you could end the night leading
with a spot in the NL Wild Card.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
My biggest fear is that it's a repeat of a
year ago when a young, up and coming Detroit team
came into Great American Ballpark in the same situation was
an Apple TV broadcast on a Friday night to a
national audience, and the Reds laden egg prove to me
(41:34):
and two Reds fans that this team is different than
the last few teams we have seen. Prove that in
a big moment, you can show up, you can be
that group, Prove that you can overcome. Because every year,
the last few years, they have faltered, they have fallen apart.
They could, they could not. This is an opportunity to
(41:56):
change that.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
I saw Lance put it out there opening Day. Maybe
another game, what other game or series can have more
build up than what tonight should yeah on this season,
and I think it's just it's an unbelievable opportunity. It's
an opportunity that we'll talk about when we come back
(42:20):
with Charlie Goldsmith. We'll get his thoughts on the Reds.
We'll get his thoughts on the Bengals and so much
more on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station that happens.
Speaker 14 (42:27):
Next WCKY Cincinnati. Make us the number one pre set
on your car radio and on the free new and
improved iHeartRadio app Free never sounded so good. ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincy three sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in
part by Cinci Shirts. Cinci Shirts All Cincy, all Day.
(42:48):
This is ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
All right, welcome back our two Cincy three sixty on
a Friday afternoon, down here live at Bengals training Camp.
This is over. We're still here thanks to a door
and window where they sell the best and service the rest.
Thanks to Adam Weber for putting our broadcast here at
Bengals Training Camp on and all his continued support of
the Bengals for all these years. As we get into
our number two, thanks to since He Shirts, we got
(43:16):
talkbacks coming up in just a few minutes. We'll do
a talkback gift card giveaway. But you know it's Friday.
You know it's one o'clock and if you follow this
show at all, you know it's time to talk to
our good friend Charlie Goldsmith to talk Reds to and
talk Bengals. He joins us, right now, what's up, Charlie, Tony,
how you doing, Charlie? We have just been handed some
(43:38):
significant Reds news. The Reds today announced the following transaction.
They have put on the fifteen day Injured List retroactive
to August twelfth, Chase Burns with a Grade one right
flexer strain. Do we know anything else about Chase Burns
at this point? As we learn that he has gone
(43:59):
to the end.
Speaker 7 (44:01):
I can tell you more about flexer strains and you
know what is Chase Burns will get more information just
about how that I would assume MRI and how that
can goes flexer strain, just checking it up real quick.
Like the Brewers had a guy Locan Henderson I believe
had a flexer strain. He was down for about a
week or two and then he started throwing. Aaron Judge
had a flexer strain. That's the injury that has kept
(44:22):
him DH. But he has handled that as a minor
issue more than a major one. But the flip side
of this is a flexer strain is what Wade Miley
had back in June when he landed back on the IL.
Also flexer strain. The flexer connects to the UCL. So
I'm not I don't know anything about Chase Burns and
with that situation, it's but these are very important and
(44:45):
there's a very wide range of how these things go.
Speaker 3 (44:48):
It also drives in the importance of getting Hunter Green
back because you still have Martinez Lttel, Abbot Singer and
Hunter Green, even with Lodolo now on the injured list
as well. How impressed were you, Charlie. You could say
any of the pitching performances against the Philadelphia Phillies, but
in particular what you were able to see from Hunter Green.
Speaker 7 (45:07):
You know, what the series was all about for me
was upside if the Red they're ever gonna get there?
And I think the line I wrote was like, close
your eyes and imagine the Red during the NLCS, and yeah,
that's a that's out there. We can get to that
at another point. But if they're if they're ever actually there,
someone like Kyle Shwarver is gonna be on third. You'll
be deep into your start. Bryce Harper is going to
be up with the player. If it's not Bryce, it'll
(45:28):
be Showho Tom, Here'll be one Soda, or it'll be
Fernando Tatis. And there are only so many pitchers out
there who can realistically believe that they're gonna go and
win that matchup, and Hunter Green is one of them. Now,
Hunter's got a lot to prove it's the most important
seven weeks of his career so far. He should have
a chip on his shoulders where he's at right now.
But Green adds to the red long term upside, and
(45:50):
then he adds to their floor too, certainly right now
because now they're starting. The rotation depth is gone until
Lodola returns, So obviously you need all five guys right now,
and Hunters one of them.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Let's talk about the lineup right now, real quick, Charlie.
They lose Game one after a great start from Andrey
av At, the offense pretty much non existent, but they
come back on back to back starts against uh Suarez
and Sanchez, who have not only been dominant for Philly,
but they both are left handed starting pitching. We know
what this team had struggled with for much of the year.
(46:25):
How big of a boost was it for the offense
to put up fourteen runs over two games and do
so against two very good left handed starters.
Speaker 7 (46:33):
I think they're now past the point where like if
there was any block or uncertainty or they showed up
to the yard and they're like, oh man, we're facing
a left handed pitcher today. Not that that was the case,
but you need to do it, you need to see it.
I think the reads have seen it now. They won't
go out and be the Bester a top five offense
in the league against left handed pitching. But when you
look at the fact that I think Marta and what
(46:53):
he's doing is real Anduhar against left handed pitching at
a bare minimum is going to be real. The depths
of options that they have with ears seeing them swinging
the bat better a few other guys as well, like
I think they can now realistically walk into these batchups
against Louffanders hanging their heads pretty high, and the Phillies
series was an ultimate description of that.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
Do you feel better about where they are from a
lineup construction standpoint and the ability that they have it
seemingly now to maybe protect Eli Da La Cruz a
little bit more in the order.
Speaker 7 (47:25):
It's been all season they've been alright, who's hot and
how can we get him behind Ellie because they've kind of,
you know, everyone's kind of tired of it. Red fans
are tired of teams pitching around Ellie the way that
they have, and Andrew Harror and Marte and I think
Lux has been swinging the bat Well recently as well.
It gives them that real option. I will have this though,
this is going to be very, very fluid. I can
(47:45):
guarantee you that Miguel Andhal is not going to hit
forth every day for the rest of the season.
Speaker 15 (47:50):
But it's going like the.
Speaker 7 (47:51):
Way I see it is four through eleven in this
Red lineup, Like at this point last week, Andrew Hall
was basically eleven on the depth chart and now he's four.
And you can also add in South Stewart and Hector
Rodriguez is like twelve and thirteen. You can make a
case for like any one of those guys being the
Red maybe fourth, but definitely fifth, sixth or seventh best hitters,
(48:12):
anyone basically in that range. So this will changes. Guys
get hot, as guys get hurt. I do expect them
to play more matchups and keep this very very fluid.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
As far as the Brewers are concerned, Charlie obviously coming
in here red hot, how do you explain what they
have been over the last month.
Speaker 7 (48:32):
There are a lot of people in the Brewers organization
who are unbelievable their jobs, like hitting development coordinators that
they're at TAB and pitching development coordinators and all these
guys at different levels that just churn out players who
know exactly how to play a certain brand of baseball
through player development and how they're developed. One more thing
that someone stressed to me as well, because they have
that depth that rises and shines. They also, by the way,
(48:56):
just have elak pitches, and that's a factor this as well.
Like their pitching just credible and that's a huge part
of the puzzle. Someone told me about Christian Yelich's role,
and I'm not comparing him to Joe Burrow, but like
he's kind of their Burrow as the guy who oversees
and acts on kind of everything and then is a
(49:17):
part of every decision, and as the most established player
on that team, has the ability to lead in that way,
and they're at to have great leadership as well. You know, Martinez, Hey,
gone watch Trevino, et cetera. But obviously that's not your
best player, and there is some power in Yelich's role
being able to do.
Speaker 15 (49:36):
That be that guy.
Speaker 4 (49:37):
I think in the WAT do you think there's like
a pride thing or a mentality that the Reds clubhouse
can kind of take with them. I know Terry Francona
always shoots it down of like looking ahead. But the
Reds have kind of been embarrassed by the Brewers the
last few years. Do you think that that's something they
kind of take personally and will that affect them at
all you think going into this series.
Speaker 7 (50:00):
I think it's something they take personally, and I think
at different points of the season that would have been
the conversation and the focus and the mentality looking at
the Brewis. I think it's different now. The Brett's kind
of mentality entering this series is just beat.
Speaker 14 (50:16):
I'm gonna have a while.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
We're losing Charlie at the moment, Charlie. I know Charlie
is traveling at the moment, so we yeah, we'll see
if we can get him back. Charlie I think is
back now. We lost him for just a second.
Speaker 7 (50:36):
But the upside of what this series is.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Oh, oh yeah, he might be going through what's known
as a rough patch.
Speaker 4 (50:45):
Yeah, I think he is. And he probably can't hear
us either. I can hear you. You can hear us now.
We lost you for a few seconds there. Sorry, some
of up real quick.
Speaker 7 (50:57):
I apologize what I was saying there was I'm gonna
drive right now. I apologize. I think how they view
this series is it's a chance to kind of announce
themselves and make it as real contenders who could truly
end up in the playoff picture by the end of
the weekend. While the Brewers stuff is real. I think
they viewed this upside of this series in this weekend
and what it could be.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
How do you view Charlie, you know, and before we
switch to the Bengals, the Terry Francona effect. When you
have a younger team that is putting together some good baseball,
but you also have the feeling that you have a
manager that the moment's never going to be too big
for when you get into these tight games. How much
can you can you lean on now Terry Francona and
really see him excel and the reason why the Reds
(51:39):
went out and got him as their manager.
Speaker 7 (51:42):
I mean, you look at these upside this upside conversations.
I mean Francona is a part of that as well.
He's a he's a manager with upside in the series.
So I add him into that mix with Hunter, with Elly,
with you know, Abbott, with I guess Burns is now
hurt but you get the guys I'm talking about here.
Francona is the guy who meets that upside as well.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
Let's switch gears to the Bengals, and it's no surprise
a lot of the conversation has circled around the offensive line,
but Lucas Patrick as well, You've been at a majority
of these practices, Charlie, from what you've seen, can you
be confident to start this season at this point with
what you've seen on the offensive line?
Speaker 7 (52:23):
I mean, what I keep going back to is it's
the exact same investment level at guard that they entered
twenty twenty one with. And they didn't go into twenty
twenty one thinking that they were going to have an
offensive line that would be remembered for the rest of
time for how bad it was. They felt like they
had a rookie, second round pick, a veteran who had
played the ball and had some team crossover, and they
(52:44):
felt like they had better deaths and then it all snowballs.
So because the majority of those decision makers are the same,
you can't be certain. There is no certainty. As optimistic
as I feel about doing Fairchild, the rest of the room,
there's no way that you can feel confident about these
guys being good and then everything you've seen, especially ifhen
Lucas Patrick is negative, I'd have Cody Ford in there.
(53:07):
I think they just want to get him more reps
and backled, especially because both men and Brown have been
banged up. But it's a big concern that hasn't helped
itself at all in camp.
Speaker 3 (53:18):
Is there, in your opinion, a backup plan or what
do you think other than you know, looking at the
waiver wire when cutdowns happened, is that the only thing
they could possibly do when looking for outside help now,
I mean.
Speaker 7 (53:32):
Dalton Riisner's out there, Like, who are the Bengals backup
guard right now? It's one of my Bengals takes is
that Jackson Kirkland should be getting more reps and more
opportunity and no offense to him. He made the team,
but like, what are we doing? Yeah, it's at that
point and no one has emerged from that second tier
group at all, and Jalen Rivers is already playing guard
(53:55):
and that limits your swing tackle options. Like you're already
at that concerning point that you were nervous you might
get close to reaching. You're already there. Now, maybe it'll
be fine if Cody Ford moves back to right guard
and everyone stays healthy. But if they're not, there's not
a single other alignment on this team who's even had
a decent camp.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
I know you've talked in the past, Charlie about their
propensity to go after waiver claims. Is that something you
think they would do, both on the offensive line and
maybe at the edge rusher spot as well as we
get towards the cutdown day and edge let's.
Speaker 7 (54:28):
See where they're at from an injury perspective, Like I
know Samples and banged up Si Murphy I have missed
a tiny bit of time themselves, said Johnson looks like
he's going to be hurt heading into the season. So maybe,
but definitely offensive line. I mean, someone could come in
and immediately be their sixth man, Like that's how desperate
they are almost for help there, and they've so they'll
(54:50):
throw a waiver wire guy do a pretty prominent spot
pretty quickly, whether it's Matt Sharpen or Jacob Salay, Like,
I mean, they've got to because what they have now,
including Lucy Patrick, isn't good.
Speaker 3 (54:59):
Enough, Charlie. When you look at the team as a whole.
And you know, going from preseason game to preseason game
number or one to two, especially on the defensive side
of the ball, what are you hoping to see from
this defense on Monday against Washington?
Speaker 7 (55:17):
What I keep going back to from the Eagles game
was it really was a lot of one on one
struggles at quarter. Can a lot of those guys and
then especially hopefully ideally Dack and camp Taylor Britt play,
Can they hit the ground running kind of show? All right?
With solid, reliable corner play, this defense can be okay?
And then the opportunity of free safety two, well, do
you know Stones on the upswing, you know you're still
(55:39):
one injury away from being right back there at that
position at the spot we've been talking about all week,
and Jajon Anthony and Tyson Anderson havn't take advantage of
this opportunity that they've had this week. There's been no
separation there, So neither one of those guys pop for
potential to be a role player or at least a
roster spot guy on this defense.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
Yles Murphy to kind of piggyback, was not out at
practice again today. If he's not able to go on Monday,
how do you view again, with so many guys banged
up or Trey Hendrickson not practicing, how do you view
the defensive line as the season gets closer as well?
Speaker 7 (56:19):
Well, this is why I'm in general now a player
starters in the preseason type of guy, because you're at
a point where you're kind of one injury away from
being an even more real concerning spot on the defensive line.
I think Shamar Sewarts had a successful camp, hit have
Brown up with standing and his role continues to increase.
I think they feel very comfortable with what they have
(56:39):
with just for said Miles Murphy's Miles Murphy, and that's
a big part of the story of the season. Henderson
will be back at some point. Chris Jenkins has had
a strong camp, but Tinley Jackson I thought was going
to have a break camp and he is not. And
a wide open position battle is defensive tackle four as
they've given longer looks to Howard Cross and Tavian Bryan
(57:02):
and mckimley's in there as well, but they're that competition
for the fifth defensive tackle spot and then could one
of them beat out Jackson for a role on game
days on the active ross. So that's another spot that's
stud of the spotlight. Fifth defensive tackle this.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
Week Geno Stone with a soft tissue injury. He did
go through some of today's practice. I'll ask the same
from a confidence level point of view, Are you confident
if Genostone is healthy that the safety position is where
it needs to be or is that another position that
they might try to address when you get into cutdowns.
Speaker 7 (57:36):
See, here's the problem. There are all these spots like
and we didn't like Paul Daner and on mcgrowlerd did
all these shows. Now I did all these positional previews
or my need letter for free agency, Like there were
just all these things they needed to do, you know,
get that real starting offensive guard that Brandon Sherriff Tyke,
who I know retired, Get that pass rushing defensive tackle
(57:56):
and round out the depth of that room. Get a
true starting frieze that you knew as they starting free dafety.
And they did none of that. They got TJ. Slaton,
who is good but didn't feel a need as much.
Then they had to fill pressing desperate needs in the draft.
Their whole draft was drafting for need. And then they
still never got around of filling half their need that
(58:17):
we've been talking about since the start of free agency.
So what is Geno son? He feels conflent that this
defense is more like what the Ravens ran with him. Sure, good, interesting,
let's do what happens there. But I mean I did
a rewatch on it. I've rewatched all genosone seasons. There
were like ten fifteen real negative negative moments plays he
should have made it many only made like two or
(58:37):
three plays off seasons. So he just has to be
someone completely different. He's the guy back in their role
who I had the hardest time understanding. But that's where
they're at. That's the problem they have to fix, and
they'll see what Alt Golden can do.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
Charlie, before we let you go, and thank you for
making time for us as you're traveling today. You know,
as somebody who is very close to the University of
Michigan and like you are, both with your family and
also with your connection at Northwestern and being a part
of the Big ten family overall, what's your reaction to
what the NCAA announced today in the Michigan ruling.
Speaker 7 (59:12):
It felt like Michigan football isn't even impacted by this
so that doesn't feel like a punishment. That's where I'm at.
It feels like the punishments themselves. I've gotten much more
lenient in general over college football over the last decade,
and I'm curious why that's been the case. Yeah, I
was surprised by you know, sorry to my brother and
(59:34):
sister who both went to Michigan, but I by my
Michigan golf little easy.
Speaker 3 (59:38):
Man, well said, Charlie, you're the best huge Cincinnati sports weekend.
Speaker 4 (59:44):
Will you now refrain from wearing that Michigan polo after this?
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Oh, this is a great question.
Speaker 7 (59:49):
You know, it's still a part of their occasion. I
do it more for my sister, who got it for me,
more than I do for me. That's the beauty of
being a Northwestern fan is that you.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
Have no rivals.
Speaker 7 (01:00:00):
Yeah, still just like wear a shirt of it. Not
that I root for Michigan, because I don't, But you
can still wear a Michigan shirt. The Cat's running back
room looks deep this season. By the way, look out
for that at Northwestern. By THEA.
Speaker 4 (01:00:11):
If I got you in Ohio State polo, would you
wear it?
Speaker 7 (01:00:15):
I would not wear that. That's the longer conversation that
we'd have to have another time.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
Wow, if you had to decide if they were playing
in the game and you had to pick one winner
and one loser, you pulled from Michigan.
Speaker 7 (01:00:24):
Though I really don't like Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
I thought I liked you before. I've never liked you
more Right.
Speaker 7 (01:00:33):
Now, dude, maybe the highlight of my life is a
sports fan with Summer steel through this like seventy yard
touchdown to open that game at Buckeye Stadium. Yeah, and
I thought the Bearcats were about to win it. Don't
ask what happened after. For that brief moment, that was
pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Chris Moore had himself a day there at at Ohio Stadium.
I know that, Charlie are the best man. Thank you
so much for your time. We'll talk again next week.
Speaker 7 (01:01:00):
Day.
Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
Charlie Goldsmith, he's dead, just etched himself into he is now.
I wonder if, like Jeremy knows that at Fox nineteen.
Speaker 4 (01:01:11):
Yeah, well, Charlie's gonna be back on the unemployment line.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
So I wonder if they know that, because now I'd
like to have Charlie on again. This afternoon, we get
Charlie to talk Michigan Ohio State and the Bearcats.
Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
Oh, I want to know what that longer story is.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
Yeah, okay, let's pencil it in for next week. Up next,
your talkbacks the Friday edition on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
Your Chance had one thousand on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
Oh yeah, talk backs, talkbacks with an opportunity to win
(01:02:16):
a Sincy Shirts gift card. Thanks here in our number
two to our friends at Sincy Shirts. I am always
excited for talkbacks, no more so than on a Friday afternoon.
Speaker 16 (01:02:26):
It's the Lord Happy Friday Talkback Nation. I was doing
some travel on this week and I heard on the
radio that Mike de Wine is thinking about getting rid
of micro betting and prop betting. What do you think
about this? Tony and Austin most probably running through walls
with snop bubbles about this? What say you, guys? Are
(01:02:50):
you just gonna affect your alive?
Speaker 17 (01:02:52):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:02:53):
I'm not a huge prop guy.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
Uh, It's not gonna affect my life that much. But
I do dislike it. I wish that he would just
leave it. Mike Dwain has never liked sports gambling, has
no interest in it, doesn't want it. And now with
the stuff going on with the guardians pitchers who have
kind of ruined it for everybody, that's kind of the
direction that he's going. And obviously the way that people
(01:03:18):
were talking to the college athletes when they weren't hitting
their props and all that. You know, Dwainan's trying to
weasel it down as much as whittle it down as
much as he can. But my favorite bets to make
our World Series first pitch of the game striker ball
and players to catch a pass on a drive. I
(01:03:38):
love making those bets.
Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
I like, like the national anthem prop bets.
Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
Well, you can't even do those in Ohio anyways, I
don't think so.
Speaker 18 (01:03:45):
Oh, come on, guys, you can't be sacking Jake Browning
in practice. That's our backup hopes and dreams.
Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
Awesome, buddy.
Speaker 19 (01:03:54):
After Michigan got caught, they went on to beat ben State,
Ohio State Alabama and went the title had nothing to
do with cheating.
Speaker 15 (01:04:04):
And you said they won.
Speaker 20 (01:04:05):
Forty games in three years because the stillons and signals.
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
No, they had two defensive coordinators that are.
Speaker 20 (01:04:13):
The best in the NFL right now.
Speaker 21 (01:04:15):
They had first rounders in the NFL talent all over
the place they won.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
Get over it.
Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
Nope, you're wrong, guys.
Speaker 22 (01:04:25):
Big the hood of Kentucky goes without saying how big
this weekend series is. But are you a little concerned
with Aba since the All Star Break? Don't seem like
he's had his best stuff. And it's been like that
in the last couple of years as well. We missed
you at the Celebrity All Start in July, Tony believe
you was on vacation. But amazing looking at them guys,
how some say in shape, like you and Melvin Levitt, and.
Speaker 8 (01:04:43):
Some don't like Sean Meyrick. I mean, he barely leted out.
Speaker 22 (01:04:46):
A single that should have been a triple. And I
just went back listened to the podcast great interview you
two had last week with Paul O'Neill.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
Did I miss one with pauls no idea. I don't
know if I had Paul or not.
Speaker 23 (01:05:00):
I think the Michigan thing just shows that the top
ten to fifteen brands in college football are too big
to keep off TV and out of the bowl games.
Instead of a twenty million dollar fine, why not take
away one year's worth of nil money. That's twenty one
point five or something like that. Give them something that
a hit that hurts where it hits.
Speaker 4 (01:05:16):
Yep, yep.
Speaker 24 (01:05:18):
Huge sports weekend coming up. Obviously, reds Brewers gigantic series.
I don't expect them to take it. I'm okay if
they just win one. Just keep that sweet streak alive
for the anti sweep streak. Mariners got Luis Castillo on
the bump against the Mets, so that kind of works
in our favor as well. Evander Reveng's game in Portland.
(01:05:39):
That's a late one tomorrow night. I think SCC takes
care of business. Everyone have a great weekend, enjoy yourselves
to be safe.
Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
Yeah I am, I am. I'm not just happy enough
with not getting swept. I want to beat the Brewers
at a series.
Speaker 25 (01:05:54):
Tony Austin TJAS Happy Friday. The ownership in front office
are suffering from a deep systemic ineptitude and a blind
allegiance to flawed team building methods. I think a solution
would be sending our soft O line to Tri State
Men's Health. Their test does will have that O line
strong leg bull for sixty minutes or more.
Speaker 8 (01:06:14):
Let's go gret this weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
Take down the brew crew and who Day.
Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
Shout out to the shout out to the line.
Speaker 26 (01:06:20):
Man Boomer Drew from South Friday. Guys, hey, give me
a total of five guys that we should be super
excited about from this Bengals team other than t Jamara
and Joe, and then give me two or three guys
that you absolutely are underwhelmed with.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
I have a great day, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
With Lucas Patrick, underwhelmed with Miles Murphy, Joseph underwhelming, I am.
I am overwhelmed with what Yoshi's done. I am overwhelmed
with Chase Brown. I think Cam Taylor Britt has had
a very nice camp and doesn't get talked about enough. Uh,
who else would I'd say I'm under a Fairchild is good?
(01:07:03):
And Shamar Stewart I would say.
Speaker 4 (01:07:04):
I would say I'm underwhelmed with Logan Wilson a little
bit as well. Haven't been super excited about him. I
do think you should be excited about TJ. Slayton. I
think you should be excited about Shamar Stewart. I think
you might might might need to be excited about doing Fairchild.
Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
And then Charlie Jones, I just have a feeling Charlie
Jones is going to play a big role in this season.
Speaker 27 (01:07:31):
Okay, have either of you done the Sports Misery Index
thing on ESPN dot com. Just google it Sports Misery Index.
You put in your favorite teams and it'll tell you
how much of a miserable sports fan you are.
Speaker 28 (01:07:47):
It's pretty cool.
Speaker 27 (01:07:48):
The higher the number, the more misery.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
Or in eighty four was my squaream.
Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I didn't notice.
Speaker 27 (01:07:53):
Taylor BRIT's middle name.
Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
It's Taylor, thank you. I do not know the sports
misery Yeah, just google ESPN Sports Misery Index and you'll
get in there and you type in your teams, boy,
and it gives you a rating. Mine was eighty four.
I had Bulls, Bengals, Reds FC Cincinnati.
Speaker 28 (01:08:16):
Okay, know the Reds could have drafted Jacob Mezerowski had
actually picked before the Brewers that draft, but instead they
took a catcher, Logan Tanner, who's hitting one one in
Dayton right now?
Speaker 4 (01:08:31):
Do you know who?
Speaker 28 (01:08:32):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
You know what? Logan Tanner's middle name is no self
twenty three undefeated national champion Michigan Woverines.
Speaker 8 (01:08:46):
Say hi, Trevor, who do you root for?
Speaker 7 (01:08:50):
Oh?
Speaker 29 (01:08:50):
He said, Michigan in the Blue Devils.
Speaker 30 (01:08:54):
Four years old and has never in Ohio say beat Michigan.
Speaker 3 (01:08:58):
Oh boy, I'll tell you what Michigan fans rejoicing.
Speaker 4 (01:09:09):
Class from John by the way from there, who is
a liar, a cheat and a bad guy?
Speaker 3 (01:09:14):
I just typed in, Uh, I started misery index and
I see you know you can't do college teams.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
No college he probably helps.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
I started with the Reds. And if you're just out
the Reds, your misery rating as a ninety six, Yeah,
start up.
Speaker 8 (01:09:28):
In my city out here in Sonny, Sonny hots on it?
Speaker 5 (01:09:31):
What up?
Speaker 8 (01:09:31):
Tony?
Speaker 10 (01:09:31):
What up?
Speaker 8 (01:09:32):
I had to come inside leave the talk back.
Speaker 29 (01:09:33):
The background was just too loud outside anyway, Samar's story
continue to kick button on the D line.
Speaker 8 (01:09:39):
So these boys in the offensive line, what's coming to them? Man?
I can't wait to at least do it in the AFC.
North ain't ready for that type of smoke. It is
what it is.
Speaker 29 (01:09:47):
Reds the goals to steal game one. Punch this team
in the mouth, beat the team that stops the street.
Me and my wife will be at the Arizona game
when they come out west, trying to flex our city and.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
Repyo Niron needs you out there, Ronnie Happy.
Speaker 31 (01:10:00):
Anything goes Friday, Gentleman Perry calling.
Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
From Westchester, Harry Oots, here's the.
Speaker 31 (01:10:07):
Deal tonight, it's Grateful dead Night.
Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Oh a great American.
Speaker 31 (01:10:15):
Ball park, and I couldn't think of a better way
to start a three game s week by trouting the
Milwaukee Grover on Grateful dead Night.
Speaker 4 (01:10:26):
Maybe that's why Jeffson Town I think he's a deadhead. Busy, Hey, Tony,
and Austin.
Speaker 9 (01:10:32):
I just assume that all the hate for Ohio State
in the Cincinnati area is because this town is so
mired in mediocrity and can accept a football program that
hasn't had back to back losing seasons in over one
hundred years.
Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Okay, Tony your reaction, Uh yeah, I'll go with it.
There is no greater or higher standard anywhere in sports
than that of Ohio State football.
Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Is it just me?
Speaker 32 (01:11:03):
Or is there a dog barking in the very beginning
of that Talkbacks theme song?
Speaker 13 (01:11:07):
Is anybody else hearing that?
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
I'll have to go back and check. Never noticed, Hey, Tony, Hey, Austin.
Paul from Cleves here. It's been a while, but I
wanted to.
Speaker 33 (01:11:16):
Jump on here and say the guy that we got
from Oakland, Andrew har Yeah, solid pickup.
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
That guy has been awesome.
Speaker 33 (01:11:23):
We've gotten him, very good job by the scouting department.
Did that guy have a lot of interest from other clubs? No,
I didn't see a whole lot about him before we
got him, So that's what I was just wondered. Great show, guys. Thanks.
Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
He he's hitting four over four hundred against left handed
pitching and he's in three oh seven on the year.
You could arguely argue he's the best hitter on the
Red right now.
Speaker 31 (01:11:48):
Hey, Tony's a Hall of Famer. Pike and Austin, give me.
Speaker 8 (01:11:52):
More, elmore?
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
What's up?
Speaker 31 (01:11:54):
I hope you guys are doing well.
Speaker 8 (01:11:56):
I'm just actually asking if I should.
Speaker 7 (01:11:59):
Bring my tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (01:12:01):
Is that weird? Is that kind of fill pop?
Speaker 29 (01:12:03):
But I'm looking forward to going you guys there tomorrow at.
Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
People I've seen people bring their putters before. Yeah, that's normal, right.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
Yeah, I think you could. They also have like the
normal U minigolf putters, but they also have like p
XG putters.
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
Right, They have plenty for you to choose from, so
if you don't want to lug your putter around, you
don't have to. And there are like the regular pup
Putters and as you mentioned, like more of the traditional grade.
Speaker 12 (01:12:29):
Yeah, hot take after Shamar Stewart puts the scare on
the offensive line, Joe Burrow goes into two point zero
Houdini mode this year and we make it to Santa
Clara and the Red sweep the Brewers.
Speaker 13 (01:12:50):
Let's freaking go.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Oh yeah, this is Ian.
Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
If we go If we go into Monday and we're
talking about Elite into the Red, the Bengals and Commanders
and the Reds coming off a sweep of the Brewers,
this city will be ready to explode.
Speaker 7 (01:13:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 34 (01:13:08):
I agree. The interview you guys did with Paul O'Neil
was pretty good, But I like the one you did
with Kevin kase Vaharn Oh yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:13:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 34 (01:13:19):
Reminder, if the Bengals lose Week one at Cleveland, everybody
should get fired except for the offensive coordinator.
Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
Keep that guy, Yeah, I will.
Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
Case Vaharan was one of my favorite interviews we did.
Speaker 17 (01:13:35):
Hey Audie a Tony, Hey Audi, Yeah, don't matter that.
Speaker 25 (01:13:38):
Uh you know, Marty Brenneman may have used grand salami
and mustard.
Speaker 9 (01:13:43):
I just never heard him do it.
Speaker 17 (01:13:45):
I did hear the Mariners though, the other day, and.
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
This one belongs to the Marriers.
Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
I'm like, no, yeah, no, can't do it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
Just kidding.
Speaker 9 (01:13:52):
Only one guy can do that.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
Go Reds.
Speaker 13 (01:13:54):
That's right, yes, that.
Speaker 35 (01:14:06):
Austin to Ryan Tony, I'm out at Shore Park's skate
okay Field Town. You haven't heard of much about Demetrius
Snyder Er Barrett Carter, the linebackers.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
For the Bengals, the two rookies, and.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
I got a good feeling about the Reds this week.
Speaker 35 (01:14:23):
And I may not get the sweet but I think
we're gonna get the series.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
Go Reds man. I'm pumped up, lots.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Healthy, a lot of people starting to drink that helping
him around the Reds winning Austin makes believers of everyone.
Demetrious Knight has been really good.
Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
He uh I saw him getting some work with trade
today a pass rush yep.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
There was also a clip of uh of Chase Brown
catching a wheel route down the sidelines. Unbelievable throw receiving
running back shouldn't make a catch like that. But if
you watch the video, Demitrius Knight was in great coverage.
I think he has been a uh maybe a little
bit under the radar, but he has been solid in
my opinion at training camp.
Speaker 5 (01:15:00):
Hey, fellas tubbs have a picture going to Matt by
the name of Colin. Do y'all know what his middle
name is? It's Daya.
Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
You guys know if they set Jake Fairley to the miners.
Haven't heard from him in about a week.
Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
It's a good question. It's a good question.
Speaker 17 (01:15:24):
Condy Audie Michael, friend of Jimmy Lawson and Hugh Jackson.
Heading back to the great state of Kentucky from Ohio.
Just a river cass in the big bubble right now.
And so I have a start bench cut for you
Ohio drivers, Kentucky drivers, Indiana drivers. I just watched a
(01:15:45):
fishing pole fly out of the back of the pickup
truck in the middle of Ohio.
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
Well I wouldn't. I think Ohio drivers are just fine.
I've never been in much traffic though, in Indy and Indy,
So I'll put Indy at the top. I'll go Ohio too,
and then Kentucky. They don't they drive in like the
the back roads, don't they. I'm starting on highways in
Kentucky's wow, I'm starting Ohio. I'm benching Indiana and I'm
(01:16:12):
cutting Kentucky by the way over the Northern Kentucky is
like its own country. It is they play owner and
entirely different rules in Northern Kentucky, and I love it.
Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
I love it. It is Northern Kentucky, but it is like
an entirely different country.
Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
Can I say real quick on Demetrius Night, because I
was thinking about this yesterday. Is he so? I think
under the radar because of the bookend picks that were
made around him. We talked so much about Schamar and
there was such a needed guard that a lot of
the focus goes on Dylan Fairchild and people forget Demetrius
Knight was a second round draft pick who has played
really well and was that all the off season activities
(01:16:46):
and has been a starter since day one out here.
I think I think he deserves some more.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Conversation, maybe, but I also just feel like we don't
talk about the linebackers at all. Yeah, all right, that
was our last one.
Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
All right, very good. We got to pick a winner.
When we come back. We'll give away a Cinci Shirts
gift card. We got a Postman Law injury report to
get to. Tom Gallander will join us at the top
of our number three and plenty more on the Cincinnati Bengals.
We're here at Bengals training camp thanks to AE Door

a Sincey Shirts gift card?
Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
I think we are. And it's not a huge list
of saved talkbacks from this week. Apparently everybody just took
the week off, I guess, and certainly John Moon after
his performance today won't be getting one. So uh, here
we go, starting with number one.
Speaker 6 (01:18:14):
Wise words I once heard from Merlin notion leave no
geno stone unturned, Meet me tonight with Snoop Dog three
sixty four. I'll be on Iahwashka. It reminds me of
being back at Berkeley. We're going to smell rad We're
going to feel lege.
Speaker 4 (01:18:39):
Oh, Bill Walt, No, it is a pleasure.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 19 (01:18:42):
As Tony Potter's has life at the Deckery deck, I
ponder what the heck is that growth on Andrew Ebbotts's neck.
Is it a boiler or a pimple? Is it a
gordon or a dimple? Maybe it's not that simple. That
growth has game, so perhaps we should give it a name.
Abbot's happened?
Speaker 36 (01:18:56):
Does it?
Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
That won't quit? Or the Cincinnati bump?
Speaker 19 (01:18:58):
Either way, that growth remains plump like Austin's belly and
maybe smelling a truck full of jelly. But Betters be ready,
because there's nobody better than our crafty.
Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
Lefty goiter is such an uncomfortable word it is. I
don't like that.
Speaker 3 (01:19:12):
Not a word you want to be described with.
Speaker 13 (01:19:15):
Hello, Hello, this is Evan and even Dale Tony.
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):

Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
Have you ever been called torpedo? Norystol, pistol? Okay, interesting,
not torpedo, not torpedo. All right, here's our last entry.
Speaker 18 (01:20:33):
The old line being mad about Joe Burrow getting sacked
and practiced yesterday mixes buy as much sense as me
going somewhere for today, leaving my front door ride open
and being ticked off when I come back.
Speaker 13 (01:20:43):
My stuff's gone.
Speaker 3 (01:20:44):
Heard that so good and it's so true?
Speaker 4 (01:20:49):
Yeah? Who you?
Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
My vote would be for uh because of everything that
went into it. My vote would be for boxing match.
Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
Sugar Ray reading.
Speaker 3 (01:21:02):
Sugar Ray reading, Man.
Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
I think I I think I agree with you. That
was a good one, that was so well done. You
never posted the interview.
Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
I know I do need to post the interview from
the Voice.
Speaker 4 (01:21:16):
The Voice actually filmed an interview with Sugar Ray reading.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
It was incredible and it's.
Speaker 4 (01:21:23):
It's hard to believe. It's hard to fa h.
Speaker 3 (01:21:27):
It's hard to beat what he was able to do.
But uh, yeah, that that to me, that's the winner
for me. That is uh, that's everything that you wanted
to talk back.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Congratulations, our congratulations our guy, Michael, Michael Michael. He's also
in the past done DJ Lance McAllister Wow and uh
he nailed that one. Congratulations Michael Michael.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Thanks to everyone that submitted a talkback this week, real quick.
Our Postman Law injury report delivered by our friends at
Postman Law. If you're injured, Postman delivers, just call eight
four to four Postman. The news of today Austin is
that of unfortunate news because we found out today retroactive
(01:22:17):
to August twelfth, that Chase Burns will be going on
the injured list, the fifteen day injured list with I
believe a flexer strain. Yeah, is that what we're calling it.
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
That's what the Reds say, right, Nolan, It's a Grade
one flexer strain. I don't know. I know Charlie said
it's connected to the UCL. When you just google a
Grade one flexer strain, it talks specifically about the muscles
in the hip, but there is also a flexer in
your arm that is connected to your UCL. So I
don't know exactly what they're talking about. I would like
(01:22:51):
to get some clarification on that. I'm sure we will
before the game tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Okay, any other injury news to watch out for from
a Reds point of view.
Speaker 4 (01:23:00):
I don't believe. So. They did send Wade Miley on
a rehab assignment to Double A Chattanooga, which is obviously
good news for Wade if you remember he was considering
retirement and has been able to come back from his injury.
My dad is actually at the ballpark in Chattanooga right now.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
Yeah, So we'll see if maybe my dad can keep
an eye out for Wade Miley and see if maybe
you could get a hit off of him in Double A.
I don't know that you could.
Speaker 3 (01:23:25):
But a quick injury report from a Bengals practiced today.
According to Jay Morrison, it was good news Orlando Brown
Junior was back out there today. Ginostone was going through
teams stretching on the rehab field, Jermaine Burton, Mi Kasiki,
Devin Cochrane and Cedric Johnson. Miles Murphy was not anywhere
on the practice field today. So that is our Postman
(01:23:48):
Law injury report delivered by our friends at Postman Law.
If you're injured, Postman delivers, let's set up out on
real quick. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
I do want to say I've neglected our poll question today.
I'm putting one up right now. Okay, I got a
little bit distracted, So my apologies to my guys Revivefindusystems
dot com and coach PJ. Street. I went with our
typical Friday poll question, how many games will the Reds
win this weekend against Milwaukee? Go check it out at
(01:24:18):
ESPN fifteen thirty at Tony Underscore Pike fifteen at Audio More,
of course, check out Revivefitnessystems dot com as well. My
vote is zero.
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
Wow, swept for the first time this year. I see
what you're doing. I have said last time on a Friday,
you said that the Reds came out and they won
all three.
Speaker 4 (01:24:34):
I've said about eight times already this year that the
season is over. So I can't go out here proclaiming
that it's back on and they're going to go take
two out of three from the best team in baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:24:44):
Fair. We have been wall to wall covering the Cincinnati
Bengals and the National Football League at Bengals training camp.
When we get back, we'll keep it on football, just
a different type. Tom Gallader will talk FC Cincinnati, and
then we have a chance to open back up the race.

the best and service the rest. Major Major shout out
to Adam Weber for his support of our Bengals training
camp coverage and all his support of the Cincinnati Bengals
for all these many years. This is something we rarely
(01:25:54):
get to do here Austin. We normally get to talk
to our guy Tom Galltter each and every Friday, but
very rarely do we get to talk to Tommy while
he's on the road and at training right now for
FC Cincinnati. But I understand that's how we're going to
Tommy today on the race at player Roofing hotline, Tommy,
what's up, Tony?
Speaker 5 (01:26:14):
Tony?
Speaker 13 (01:26:15):
Tony?
Speaker 37 (01:26:15):
The stars have a line? You're at training, I'm at training.
I mean, we got all types of live reports coming
here in the two o'clock hour.
Speaker 13 (01:26:26):
I mean, this is this is literally a dreams scenario.
Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
I'll be it.
Speaker 37 (01:26:28):
I'm guessing it's infinitely less humid for me right now
than it is for you.
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
Guys.
Speaker 37 (01:26:34):
Have a I have a light code on and pants
out here training. How are things back in Cincinnati?
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
It's warm, it's a sticky. Practice has now been over
for a couple hours. What goes on, Tommy? Take me
behind the scenes. What goes on on a day like
this at training for FC Cincinnati. Understanding a game is
being played tomorrow. What does a day like today look like.
Speaker 37 (01:26:58):
Well, so today's a little bit different, you know than
it normally would be when I talk to you on Friday.
Usually when I talk to you on Friday, where we're
getting ready to take off and head out from Lunking,
because the team generally goes out just match day minus one,
but for these West Coast trips, they go up match
day minus two. So the team flew in yesterday following training,
and then this morning usual breakfast routine. The guys load
(01:27:22):
up the buses. We got here I'd say maybe about
twenty thirty minutes ago. They go through activation, which is
essentially the stretching and getting loose portion of warm ups.
Speaker 13 (01:27:32):
Then they go through some team grills. They do the
very popular.
Speaker 37 (01:27:37):
Transition game that people could track on social media every
match day minus one. The social media team is a
great job. There's three teams. There's the dominant Gray team.
They're the favorite every week for the transition game. Some
people call it over the river. It's kind of like
a keep away or yet to get certain number of touches.
Get it over the river and to the other side.
There's points awarded and the champion is determined every day,
(01:27:58):
So that is just starting now. Ray as I mentioned,
is the dominant side. They have all the designated players.
They have really most of the veterans. The Green team
is kind of some a mix of some veterans and
guys that have been around, and and then the Pink
team is really the kids and Kai Kamara. So Pink
team is certainly the underdog. Screen's got a pretty decent run.
Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
As of late.
Speaker 37 (01:28:22):
But if you know, folks are betting on it, they
usually I think hit the great team because that is
the team they usually win.
Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
So they do that.
Speaker 37 (01:28:30):
Then they go so that is that's just starting now.
That will last about ten to fifteen minutes, and then
they will go eleven v eleven for the full like
scout session. Then when they will put the starters out
there against the scout team and you know, truly go
through their preparation.
Speaker 13 (01:28:48):
Following that, they do set pieces.
Speaker 37 (01:28:50):
First, they start with defensive set pieces, so Paul Rodgers
and whichever assistant coach at the scouting fort for that
match will go through all the defensive assignments on set pieces,
and then they will do attacking set pieces of corner kicks,
free kicks to kind of wrap up training and then
they'll head back to the hotel and have once.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
So much about football that I know is the mental
side and the amount of time you're watching film and
you're installing and different things like that. From an MLS standpoint, Tommy,
how much time do they spend in the film world,
how much time do they spend, you know, week to
week really trying to put in a specific game plan
(01:29:30):
for that opponent.
Speaker 37 (01:29:32):
It I think it's a fair bit in my conversations
with Pat, and look, now you're deep into the final
quarter of the season, so you could watch twenty four
to twenty five games on an opponent if you want.
Pat says that they very rarely watch more than the
last three games, maybe three or four, but that's about it,
because it's what what have they done lately?
Speaker 13 (01:29:53):
You know who in that group has done well lately?
And maybe and it's.
Speaker 37 (01:29:58):
Not the case here in Portland because it's a way
conference opponents, so you don't see m twice. But if
it's someone who played earlier in the year, like Charlotte,
then sure you probably go back and rewatch that. But yeah,
there's a fair there's a fair bit of film they'll
be team meetings both today and tomorrow when they'll review
those kind of things and those set pieces that I
was just talking about.
Speaker 13 (01:30:17):
That's something that the coaches.
Speaker 37 (01:30:18):
Have been preparing all week, so they're trying to exploit
some weaknesses and you often hear it.
Speaker 13 (01:30:23):
I'll say it, one of the other commentators say it
as well.
Speaker 37 (01:30:26):
But you know, straight from the training pitch to the game,
when a goal was scored off a corner cake or
set piece, very often, Kevin and I'll sit here and
watched it.
Speaker 13 (01:30:34):
If you remember a couple of.
Speaker 37 (01:30:35):
Years ago, that goal that Alvaro bari All scored, that
banger in the US Open Cup just outside of the
eighteen down at the Bailey end. We had seen that
practiced over and over and training, you know, on match
day minus one, and it was just a matter of
finding the right hole and the right weakness and in
the opponent's defense.
Speaker 13 (01:30:55):
To execute it and get it done. And so it's it's.
Speaker 37 (01:30:58):
Pretty cool when we could that on the day before
the match and then you see it actually work in
a game, and certainly they spent a lot of time
trying to find the right places to make these things happen.
Speaker 3 (01:31:12):
It was it's never good to lose, but it's stung
a little bit more because the Charlotte match, it took
away from all in all, what was an amazing lead
up and an amazing post game. If you think about
the ten year celebration and so many former players that
were so impactful in building FC Cincinnati to what it
(01:31:34):
is now, you don't want to take away from any
of that because it was so well done and so
well orchestrated in the game itself. It's a couple times
this year against Charlotte they haven't been able to get
much going offensively. What do you take from from the
loss last weekend?
Speaker 13 (01:31:50):
Yeah, I think just a ceiling of disappointment.
Speaker 37 (01:31:52):
And I think Matt Miaska in the post game first
conference kind of hit the nail on the head when
he said, you know that they should have executed some
and off tunies earlier in the match and taking advantage
of that game and had the lead, and then maybe
it doesn't play out the way that it did, you know,
unfortunately you end up with a red card.
Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
That was a.
Speaker 37 (01:32:10):
Confusing situation and a frustrating situation.
Speaker 13 (01:32:13):
It felt like the play should have been blown dead.
Speaker 37 (01:32:14):
And then Brian takes that step, and you know, I
believe that the step is a red card, but I
also believe the play probably should have been stopped and
never should have gotten to that point. So you know,
unfortunate situation needs to go in a man down and
then the scramble to fill in and you know, get
get the right personnel on the pitch and you can
see the goal and now you're chasing it down to
(01:32:35):
man and obviously that is you know, extremely difficult, especially
considering the personnel that they had available in that match.
So I think that disappointment is the biggest feeling, just
because a lot of results win in favor of f
CCINCINNTY over the weekend, so a win put to Cinati
back atop all of Major League Soccer and said, you
get nothing out of it, and it just really feel
(01:32:58):
like you left points on a table that yeah, you know,
hopefully you don't regret at the end of the year,
but you might.
Speaker 13 (01:33:04):
And and that just stinks in the biggest way.
Speaker 37 (01:33:06):
So I think that that's uh, you know, kind of
just sums it up. And look, also when I said
this on the air, he got a tip to Captain
Christy and Kalina.
Speaker 13 (01:33:16):
He was unbelievable save after save after save in that match.
Speaker 37 (01:33:20):
He had a couple of highlight reel saves in the
lost down to Charlotte, and you had a couple more
in this loss at t QO Stadium. So let's not
take anything away from him either, because there were some
opportunities at that that he truly answered the bell on.
Speaker 3 (01:33:33):
We've talked about the the schedule going forward as the
UH the mL season faces that that final sprint to
the finish line and and matches that you would think
would lend themselves to be favorable for FC Cincinnati. Talk
a little bit about this matchup tomorrow night against Portland,
UH where they stand from a Western Conference point of
(01:33:54):
view and UH and how f C Cincinnati can get three.
Speaker 37 (01:33:57):
Yeah, Portland's a team that's, you know, been playing better
and they've had some player turnover as of late. Obviously,
it's an opponent that sin I see very often. This
is only the third all time meeting. Interestingly enough, they've
all taken place.
Speaker 13 (01:34:11):
In different venues.
Speaker 37 (01:34:12):
It was the first ever home in the less game
real or something for Cincinnati.
Speaker 13 (01:34:16):
Then a game what two years ago at.
Speaker 37 (01:34:19):
TQL Stadium, and in between that was a game down
a Disney when they were playing in the bubble in
the knockout stages in Portland won that in a penalty
kicks shoot out after a drawing regulation. So but this
current Portland team is good, and they have a familiar
face in Kevin Kelsey, who's kind of been in and
out of the starting line up. Of course, he was
with Cincinnati last year. They should have a great atmosphere
(01:34:41):
tomorrow night. Diego Chara, one of their legendary players, there
were four hundred pearances in Major League Soccer, doing a
bibblehead for him.
Speaker 13 (01:34:47):
So I expect the crowd.
Speaker 37 (01:34:49):
To be very, very good for the Timbers, and Phil
Nevils seems to be moving them in the right direction.
So but for whatever reason, and I've asked Pat about
this and I have never gotten a uh, you know,
he he doesn't have a full answer for it. But
but he's done very well historically against the teams from
the Western Conference. And it's interesting because I mentioned earlier
(01:35:10):
like you only see them once a year. You don't
see all the Western Conference teams every year. You see
six right now, so three at home, three on the road.
But those matchups have have been favorable for f C Cincinnati.
So I think this will be a team that's pretty
hungry and pretty upset about how the last couple of
games have gone.
Speaker 13 (01:35:28):
You know, no goals in now one.
Speaker 37 (01:35:29):
Hundred and eighty three minutes over the last two games
and then the last three minutes of the one before that.
So you know, I think a quick start will be
really important and they'll be looking to come out on
fire and kind of you know, kill some of that
atmosphere for the Timbers. But you know, there's also a
really big question for Patnunion as to who's starting the
defensive midfield with Brian and then got suspended from that
(01:35:51):
red card. You know, I'm pretty sure it'll be Dull
of Aezuela or Steven Hamennez in this. You know, some
of those are the leading candidates at least, But who
does he put in there from the start and how
is the game managed with the personnelity has available?
Speaker 3 (01:36:05):
Is there something to be said? Because we talked a
week or so ago about the ability to play your
best soccer when it matters the most, and right now
in Major League Baseball we're seeing the Milwaukee Brewers are fantastic,
and yet, yeah, there's something that said about it. Are
they are they peaking at the wrong time? So I
know you want to get better results than what we've
seen for FC Cincinnati, But can you also look at
(01:36:26):
this and say, Okay, now it's a great time to reset.
Let's get to playing the best soccer and do so
as it coincides with the end of the season, so
you can not only be playing your best soccer, but
play your best soccer as you enter into the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:36:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 37 (01:36:40):
No, I think it's important and we see that so often,
you know.
Speaker 13 (01:36:44):
And I think when e'sally since Any won the Supporter.
Speaker 37 (01:36:46):
Shield and you know, it wasn't you know, a case
of you know, not playing their best soccer. Obviously they
had some injuries and Matt Maask was suspended. There were
some other factors, you know, as they kind of ran
out of steam there at the end of that, you
know what almost was a dream season to the MS
Cup final. But you know, yeah, I think I think
there's a lot of to and and just to be
Chrystal clear, the Brewers aren't the only hot team in
(01:37:09):
Major Baseball right now. There's one about two and fifty
miles north. Relax, think I think, I think, I think
in the last I think in the last thirty games,
the Guardians have won more than anybody, including the Brewers.
Speaker 13 (01:37:21):
But I just want to point that out. That's not
the question, but but just wanted to make make that point.
Speaker 37 (01:37:24):
But yeah, I mean, and look look at Major Legue.
Speaker 13 (01:37:28):
Started to look at the New York Ripples. They last year,
you know, barely got into the playoffs.
Speaker 37 (01:37:32):
And and then they you know, they they barely get
into the playoffs, and then they go on this amazing
run and get red hot and make it to the
MS Cup final. So and uh, if you'd like a
live update, so we'll let the folks listening today know
who won before you're posted on social media.
Speaker 13 (01:37:49):
Gray Gray, So there you go. Try to tell you
here we go. The favorites are Gray.
Speaker 37 (01:37:56):
It's a great just more in the transfer game here
here in Portland. So but yeah, no, they listen. It's
such a big point of it. And it's being healthy
and again that that's where you sometimes get caught up though,
you know, being a Wombito will come back into the
next Kevin Dank is working his way back into the mix.
We saw his first appearance since the Columbus game when
he was injured, and now we're going to start to
(01:38:17):
figure out, you know, what this team looks like, especially
as some new distances get involved. We love watching in
there at t Anik out there, so I think it's
getting those guys comfortable and then it's going to be
the other big piece of puzzle is you're right getting
hot and playing your best soccer as you turn the
calendar into October.
Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
What is just the overall I think you can tell
a lot by the confidence and the vibes and the
field around the team. There are days here at camp
today for the Bengals there was an urgency, there was
a swagger, a confidence in which they they went with
and the other day you kind of felt like it's
it's the dog days. You're you're trying to get in
and out. What does the feel and the vibe and
(01:38:56):
the confidence around this FC Cincinnati club feel like to you?
Speaker 37 (01:39:00):
I think that the confidence is really high, and you
know that it's a group that really clicks and has
great chemistry. And I think you know, to the credit
of Pat Noon and that has been the story of
his four years. If you saw the quote from Phil Nevill,
the head coach at Portland, you know He said that
that that's probably one of his favorite coaches of the
last couple of years and one of the best of
(01:39:22):
Major League soccer because the way he coaches, and he said, look,
he's no bs. Right, what you see with Patton in
is what you get and there's no bs, there's no
nonsense with him. You get, you know, straight up coach.
And I think that's reflective in the chemistry. He hasn't
addressing room and you see it at training. You know,
they know when they turn it on to be serious,
(01:39:42):
but they also are able to have a good time.
It doesn't have to be serious the whole time. Right,
They're gonna have a good time. They're gonna stay trash
in that transition game, you know, and you know the
different teams and the greeting team has a little trophy,
so they celebrate with that every time they win. And
when the when the pink team wins with all the kids,
it's a big deal. And you know when the great
team wins, it's the slagger. But then now they're gonna
(01:40:03):
turn it on eleven to eleven and it's time to go.
It's time to get rat for Portland, right, So I
think the chemistry is really good. I think, you know,
Pat gets a lot of credit for the way that
he has managed that over the years, and Chris Albright
his staff for making sure they getting the right guys
in so that the chemistry is not disrupted.
Speaker 13 (01:40:19):
But the guys who are sitting in that dressing room.
Speaker 3 (01:40:22):
Health standpoint, Tommy, going down the stretch, where does it
feel that this team is at?
Speaker 37 (01:40:27):
Ohay, you know, still fighting, you know, being a Womanoe.
We know he's gonna be out for a bit. You know,
you're still you know, nursing the injuries of Sergio Santos
and New York Kubo and Luk Orsehano left the match
last week, so so he's added into that mix.
Speaker 13 (01:40:42):
So I think there's a couple.
Speaker 37 (01:40:43):
Couple guys you know that you're hoping to get back
to add some more depth than a couple of the
new faces that you want to see play more and more.
But but you're getting there, and uh, they're coming along
all right.
Speaker 3 (01:40:54):
So we'll see speaking of coming along all right here Tommy,
before we let you go, h what what's the feeling
uh in Cleveland right now? This this game is as
rapidly approaching between the Browns and the Bengals. I know
Shador suffered a setback. Who starts at quarterback week one? Tommy?
And uh, how ready is the city of Cleveland for
Cincinnati to invade?
Speaker 13 (01:41:16):
I mean, I mean we we getting ready.
Speaker 37 (01:41:19):
How's your arm feeling because at this rate they may
sign you to be a string And I mean, Lord
knows that that you've.
Speaker 13 (01:41:25):
Worked away up the depth chart before, so why why
not one more run at it? Anthony?
Speaker 3 (01:41:29):
I mean, that's nice to you.
Speaker 13 (01:41:31):
Let's let's go.
Speaker 37 (01:41:32):
But no, I think, uh, I mean, it's interesting and
it's funny because I was.
Speaker 13 (01:41:36):
I was texting with Connor Barling the other night name John.
I said, listen, yep.
Speaker 37 (01:41:41):
I was like, I need a full report by Saturday
of why the Browns are going.
Speaker 13 (01:41:48):
To Super Bowl or why all my hopes are going
to be crushed.
Speaker 37 (01:41:51):
And I said, and if you have it ready sooner,
which you probably already do, I to one practice, feel
free to send it over. He said, I'll wait till Saturday,
and I know he'll give me. He'll give me for
port of From what I've read, it sounds like the
defense has been really good, but that's to be expected
in many way, especially when you get an anchor like
Miles Garrett leading the way.
Speaker 13 (01:42:09):
But we'll see it should be should be.
Speaker 37 (01:42:13):
A very interesting game and there's a lot to be
figured out and.
Speaker 13 (01:42:17):
Hopefully they just keep kill flaccoing the bull wrap.
Speaker 4 (01:42:19):
Tommy, do you think that the Browns need to put
Miles Garrett in some sort of rehabilitation facility as he's
now got seven or eight traffic tickets and one that
included a pretty nasty wreck that caused him to miss
a game.
Speaker 13 (01:42:32):
Fast fast cars, Go fast, boys?
Speaker 4 (01:42:36):
You got anything else?
Speaker 13 (01:42:37):
But yeah, just take your foot off the gas, Miles, come.
Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
Man, yep?
Speaker 4 (01:42:42):
Just uh, I mean between him and Shador, that's like
nine speeding tickets over the last several years.
Speaker 13 (01:42:48):
The various municipalities should be flush.
Speaker 4 (01:42:52):
With Strongeville police are staying busy. I know that much.
Speaker 37 (01:42:56):
It ain't that the truth, So yeah, be safe, boys,
I prefer that, like, let's just be smart, all right?
Speaker 13 (01:43:02):
Fair enough?
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
I think that's fair, Tommy. We uh, we certainly appreciate
your time each and every week. Uh, especially the uh
the on site live audition, live edition of Just joined
Us Gray coming out on top today. That's kind of
how these guys are turning a little bit down here
at oh at the practice fields at pay Course Stadium. Tommy,
thank you. We'll talk again next week.
Speaker 13 (01:43:26):
You got it, brother, good to get a time with you.
Speaker 3 (01:43:28):
Boys.
Speaker 22 (01:43:28):
Have go on.
Speaker 37 (01:43:28):
Good luck with the event on Saturday, looking for here
and how it goes, and uh yeah, cheers boys.
Speaker 3 (01:43:33):
Cheers Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, that's Tom Gallatter our FC Cincinnati
report when we come back. Uh, do we have any
Duke Tobin. I can't believe Duke Tobin's talking to folks.
Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
Yeah, Duke Tobin earlier today, I believe it was earlier
today was on Sirius XM NFL Radio. He of course
was asked about Uh, Trey Hendrickson, We have about two
minutes of Duke that we can play for.
Speaker 3 (01:43:56):
You, Duke Tobin. We'll get to that when we come back.
It is a unt three sixty thanks to Penn Station
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 22 (01:44:05):
Is it possible?
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
It's a hell you up back on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Welcome back since he three sixty. ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station Live at Bengals training camp. Well, they're not
doing anything on the field, but We're still here live
posted up for another thirty five minutes. Thanks to AE
Door and Window. They sell the best in service the
rest thanks to Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOVE five
one three five one three TOPH thanks to our good
(01:44:36):
friends at Oakley Greens. We're here at the Airport Painting
Body broadcast area and we'll take calls on the Ray
Saint Clair Roofing hotline in just a few minutes. Before
we get to any of that, though, Austin Duke Tobin
actually spoke a little bit today. He did so with
Solomon Wilcotts.
Speaker 4 (01:44:51):
Yeah, uh here it is.
Speaker 38 (01:44:53):
Okay great in helping young players. I've been around this
league a long time. Not every veteran player operates that way.
The ones that do, you absolutely love them because they
get it.
Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
But not everyone does.
Speaker 13 (01:45:05):
What What does it mean to.
Speaker 4 (01:45:06):
This organization that Trey's invested.
Speaker 36 (01:45:08):
In regard I got a ton of respect for trade.
Speaker 4 (01:45:12):
Trey's a fierce player.
Speaker 36 (01:45:13):
That that's what we look for, fierce players. We don't
want guys that are on the periphery. We want guys
that are in the mix. And uh and he's in
the mix. I know he loves football. I know he
loves the camaraderie in football, the preparation in football, the
practice in football. So all those things I know he loves,
(01:45:35):
and I've got so much regard and respect and hopefully,
you know, we can you know, get this thing going
to where he's active and up and running and helping
the Cincinnati Bengals and his teammates.
Speaker 13 (01:45:46):
In games, and he can help.
Speaker 38 (01:45:48):
And we know that seems to be helping Samar I mean,
you can see there's a relationship building there.
Speaker 36 (01:45:54):
They're yeah, yeah, I think all players on our team
are in those you know, especially the new ones there.
They're trying to build those relationships there, and they're they
want to impress the guys that have been around a
long time, right, and the guys who have been around
a long time one want to show them, hey I
still got I'm the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:46:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:46:12):
I mean, so there's relationships going all.
Speaker 36 (01:46:15):
Over our team, and and the players are learning about
each other.
Speaker 3 (01:46:19):
Now.
Speaker 36 (01:46:19):
Some of our players know each other, they played together
a lot of years. The other ones are learning about
each other. And people want to make a good impression.
That's human nature, you know. People want to make a
good impression. They want to show value and feel valued.
Those are all good things, and that's going on all
around the league with guys start.
Speaker 13 (01:46:36):
Hey, they maybe that guy can.
Speaker 4 (01:46:37):
Help that's all. That's how that can help us, That's right.
How suddenly suddenly that guy.
Speaker 36 (01:46:42):
Feels better about himself now that that recognition of yeah,
I am a football player, I'm not just Joe Locker
in next.
Speaker 3 (01:46:51):
All right, So that is Duke Tobin talking about Trey
Hendrickson his impact on the younger players. Do we between
now and maybe next week Austin to hear anything updated
from Trey Hendrickson? Or do you expect this to remain
quiet until all the preseason games are done?
Speaker 4 (01:47:08):
I expected to remain quiet up until that final week
before the season and the opener in Cleveland. But got Lee,
does Duke Tobin seem to be in a good mood?
It was chipper like he was happy. He didn't seem
stressed out about anything. So maybe that's indicative of where
the process is at. I don't know, but yeah, I
(01:47:29):
mean it was just it kind of out of nowhere.
I mean, I know, serious XM NFL is doing their
training camp rounds and they were, you know, Cincinnati today
and doing all that. So yeah, yeah, I mean, it's
it's I don't think that changes anything other than the
Bengals acknowledged that Treys being a good teammate and they
appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
Yep. I think that's all all fair, and I don't
think you're gonna hear much more than that, as it
pertains to Trey Hendrickson. Let's take ourselves a break. We'll
open up the phone lines one final time, the Race
Saint Claire Roofing Hotline when we come back. Since he
three sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (01:48:07):
Loueger.
Speaker 5 (01:48:08):
Reality is they're probably not good enough.
Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
He dissects the local sports scene.
Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
They're not consistent enough.
Speaker 1 (01:48:14):
The way up fourth grader disectx Acrod not reliable. Mulleger
Today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:48:22):
We all.
Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
Welcome back. Since three six, ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
We've got a seven or eight minutes here. Let's get
in as many of these phone calls on the Race
Saint Claire Roofing Hotline as possible. Let's start with John,
what's up? John Good?
Speaker 30 (01:48:45):
Afternoon, Tony Good, afternoon, Austin, How are you good?
Speaker 15 (01:48:48):
How are you good?
Speaker 30 (01:48:50):
We're hanging in there looking forward to the night on weekend. Obviously,
if I had three questions for Duke Tobin, a three
part question. Question one would be did he watch quarterback
on net? If so, did he think his offensive line
was competent last year? And if not, did he do
enough to address that this year and improve it? Because
that's the part of the team that would scare the
(01:49:10):
heck out of me. Because the defense looking at five
percent better than last year, you turn a couple of
touchdowns into field goals, you'll be confident enough to contend
with that offense. You do have the best quarterback in football,
probably the top three group of playmakers with too much
case all the way down, so you should be able
to score a ton of points. But the offensive line
is the problem. First of all, it's going to impede
(01:49:33):
that offense from being as good as it can be.
But more so, we're going to keep number nine upright
and playing seventeen games. So Mike questions to you, guys
and and Tony, especially you, as you played the position at.
Speaker 13 (01:49:45):
A very high level.
Speaker 30 (01:49:46):
The running game is important because if they can just
establish some sort of running game, then Burrow's facing second
and five rather than third and twelve that type of situation.
The only problem is that offensive line was thirtieth in
run block efficiency to go along with thirty second and
pass block efficiency. It doesn't really add to the running
game or the passing game. Would you potentially use a
(01:50:09):
sixth offensive lineman, which right away I would say no,
only because you only have to and a half confident
offensive lineman. Now you're adding a subpar player some more snaps?
Or would you have a personal protector for number nine
which seems a bit far fetched to the modern NFL,
But I don't know. If he has three seconds to throw,
he's basically hitting free throws.
Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
At that point. Right.
Speaker 4 (01:50:32):
We have seen Drew samples.
Speaker 3 (01:50:34):
Today, Yes, that was. They did that more today than
any other day of camp, where they had a running
back in and brought Drew Sample kind of back in
the backfield right next to where Joe Burrow was and
today you know, subsequently, I thought the offense moved the
ball with pace and urgency the best they have in
quite some time. So I think there is genuinely something
(01:50:54):
there with that.
Speaker 30 (01:50:56):
Yeah, the personal protector. And before I go, Tony, have
you tweeted out information about the fundraiser for your nephew
tomorrow's or anyway we can you know, be part of
that and take part of that. Not yeah, com me
do it because I'm you know, a thousand miles away,
but yeah, any contribute would be helpful.
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
Thank you for asking.
Speaker 12 (01:51:11):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:51:11):
I'm going to join MODA this afternoon and talk about
it a little bit, but I will. I will tweet
out a link later today that that has all the
info and the donation page, and then either later tonight
or early tomorrow morning, I'll tweet out the actual link
for the auction. You don't have to be in person
to bid or win something from the auction. We've got
about twenty different items, so I will Uh, I'll definitely
(01:51:33):
get those out on social media tonight and early tomorrow morning.
Speaker 30 (01:51:37):
Great news, Okay, have a great day today and a
very possible weekend for your nephew on Saturday and Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:51:43):
Thank you so much, man, I appreciate that.
Speaker 30 (01:51:46):
Anytime.
Speaker 3 (01:51:47):
Fellos, back to the race, Saint Clair Roofing Hotline. Who
do we have Austin?
Speaker 4 (01:51:53):
I'm sorry, we have Mike, we have Mark, and we
have Greg.
Speaker 3 (01:51:57):
Mike.
Speaker 15 (01:51:57):
What's up, Fellas?
Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
Wind it down? Winding down, Mike, just enjoying an empty
practice field down here is rain starts to sprinkle in.
Speaker 15 (01:52:10):
Yeah, I bet, I bet, I bet you're glad that
crap's over with my kidding. Let's just be honest about it.
That's gotta be a nuisance.
Speaker 3 (01:52:19):
Morning and the dog days of training camp.
Speaker 15 (01:52:23):
Yeah, absolutely, even for you guys and you're not playing.
This is a fine time, folks, to hit the home dog.
Speaker 5 (01:52:33):
Now.
Speaker 15 (01:52:34):
If you weren't playing at all, your shame on you.
So then you don't expect to get any benefits. But
if you have, then you know what to do tonight.
Because this team from Milwaukee is due to lose a game.
They have to lose a game to the liss.
Speaker 3 (01:52:48):
They got to lose one.
Speaker 15 (01:52:51):
They gotta lose a couple.
Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
Yep.
Speaker 15 (01:52:54):
And I don't care who the pictures are. I don't
I'm not even looking.
Speaker 11 (01:52:58):
I don't care.
Speaker 15 (01:52:59):
Doesn't Yeah, because if you start getting into that, then
you're getting into just playing individual games and you're an idiot.
So you just go ahead and keep the home dog
strategy going to Tony. If you want to reneuse everybody's familiarity.
They can a little lait in a year now, but
they could pick it up for the playoffs if they
(01:53:21):
wanted to. But I just wanted to mention that and
that's all I got.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Yeah, Mike, thank you man, have a great weekend. We
appreciate the phone call. It's very simple if you're into
the sports betting side of things, the home dog strategy.
If you see a home team in baseball that is
an underdog that means they have a plus by the odds,
you bet them. If they win, take your money and run.
If they lose and their home dogs the next day,
you double up on it on your bet. If they
(01:53:46):
lose that day, you triple up the next day. When
you do hit, you call it a series and you
don't worry about it any longer. Back to the race
and Clay Roofing hotline. What's up?
Speaker 5 (01:53:54):
Mark?
Speaker 6 (01:53:56):
Well?
Speaker 7 (01:53:57):
God, how you guys doing good?
Speaker 3 (01:53:59):
How are you?
Speaker 4 (01:54:01):
Dude?
Speaker 7 (01:54:01):
Man? I have two things for you.
Speaker 11 (01:54:03):
One thing I know, I get in contact.
Speaker 21 (01:54:05):
With you Tony for a golf outing man, our fourth
guy that we usually golf with, and been backing out lately,
and I been trying to tweet at you, but I
do come and come golf with us as our fourth
what's the best way to get you in there. I
have a couple of beers and play some golf maybe
with them.
Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
Mostly my golf schedule unfortunately comes to an end when uh,
when training camp gets here. But normally the easiest way
is is Twitter or Instagram to try and get a
hold of me. I apologize if I have not seen that,
but I do appreciate that.
Speaker 20 (01:54:42):
Beers, Yeah, I owe you some beers. You you got
me a big win years ago.
Speaker 7 (01:54:47):
When you can't.
Speaker 20 (01:54:50):
Treat you to some beers someday I gave you.
Speaker 11 (01:54:54):
One beer one time.
Speaker 20 (01:54:56):
But but yeah, man.
Speaker 7 (01:54:58):
Golfing would you would be sweet?
Speaker 20 (01:55:00):
The second thing that I want to talk to you
about is I want to pick your brain because obviously
you're a Hall of Fame quarterback. How long does offense
coordinator take to really get adjusted to a new defensive coordinator?
You know with Al Golden? Because I feel like that's
a big advantage we won against the brown I think
(01:55:22):
that could be a pretty biggest indevage against the Jaguars.
So how long did it take a quarterback and an
offensive coordinator to kind of see what the defense is cooking?
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
Mark? I appreciate the phone call. Thank you. There's a
lot to unpack there normally because there's just not film
out there. You're gonna have a advantage in week one
and maybe even into week two if you can hold
some stuff back. But as soon as you get about
two or three game tapes out there, a lot of
the scouting report gets out there, especially if the Bengals
(01:55:53):
are gonna play more bass like we've heard. It might
be a little bit difficult to navigate, but I do
think you do a You do get an advantage from
a defensive standpoint in those early weeks with an opponent
not really knowing what you're going to fill out there
on the defensive side of the ball. One more time, Austin,
we got one more. Here we are. We are out
of time, out of time. We gotta go get Moegger.
(01:56:13):
Ray St Claire Roofing Hotline likes to.
Speaker 4 (01:56:15):
Talk to us some more. He really was a huge moment.
Speaker 3 (01:56:18):
I'll talk to him all throughout the afternoon and we'll
talk to him. We get about quick hits next ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 8 (01:56:25):
Until you see Ky Cincinnati.
Speaker 14 (01:56:27):
Make us the number one pre set on your car
radio and on the free new and improved iHeartRadio app.
Free never sounded so good. ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 5 (01:56:36):
From the Baker Heating Tempstar Weather Center. Here's your forecast.
Speaker 19 (01:56:39):
This report is sponsored by the International Hot Ride Association.
Speaker 2 (01:56:44):
Sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station. It's
time for since the three sixty quick hits on ESPN.
Speaker 4 (01:56:53):
Fifteen thirty, was looking for mo.
Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
Mo is in the building. He's at the Kenwood studio.
We're about to move the airport paint body broadcast area
from down here as the rain is starting to fall
at the pay Corps Stadium practice fields to a much
drier area where Molager is standing by. Well, what's up.
What do you got on the show this afternoon?
Speaker 5 (01:57:13):
Oh, it's gonna be enormous. It's gonna be great. The
great thing about the airport pain and body broadcast area
is it's portable.
Speaker 4 (01:57:20):
You can move it, and so.
Speaker 5 (01:57:22):
We're gonna move it here to ken We're gonna put
it on the airlifter and bring it over here to Kenwood.
We got a lot to get to today. Reds and
Brewers play tonight. The Reds get an up close look
at the franchise they need to become. We'll get to
the Bengals. We'll look at some of these ESPN positional rankings.
Marcus Spears says this is gonna be Trey Hendrickson's final
(01:57:44):
season in the Bengals uniform. I have a question about that.
We're gonna go to Wisconsin and find out why the
Brewers are so good. Tony Pike is gonna join us
four times today. We've got training camp reports. You're also
gonna talk about your event that you've worked very hard
to put together tomorrow for your and Mike Sando from
the Athletic is going to talk about his QB tiers.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
We saw Chase Burns go to the fifteen day injured
list with a Grade one flex or strain trade them.
Do you think, and obviously you want to be cautious
with any injury, do you think this could also tie
into a little bit of maybe any injur restriction and
getting him some time off as well.
Speaker 5 (01:58:22):
I'm certainly open to the possibility. I think it would
be irresponsible to say it's not a real injury. I
also think we're all grown up here for the most
part that it would be unsurprising if the Red's manipulated,
and good for them for doing so, but manipulated things
to allow them to save Chase Burns innings, will also
have him not occupy a roster spot like it's it's plausible.
(01:58:43):
Now again, maybe the dude is legitimately hurt. Right, he's
a major league pitcher, They get hurt. Maybe there's something
legitimately here. But I am certainly at least open to
the possibility and slightly leaning toward the possibility that they're
using something at their disposal to ensure that he can
help them later in the season. We'll see again, man, Right,
(01:59:07):
it's irresponsible to say, oh, he's he's not really hurt.
Maybe he is.
Speaker 4 (01:59:12):
I would like to know if it's the flexer in
the elbow or the arm, or is it the flexer
in the hip, or what exactly is it. I believe
it's elbow. I believe it is elbow. Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:59:22):
Shamar Stewart has lived in the backfield for much of
training camp mode. Today he said that was no different
for him, except today he was extra careful not to
touch Joe Burrow. He did talk about getting into the backfield,
the mentality of Shamar Stewart. He said, I had a
one on one. If you have a one on one.
You better win the one on one. I think the
(01:59:44):
Cincinnati Bengals defensively need to adopt a lot more of
the mindset of Shamar Stewart.
Speaker 5 (01:59:49):
If des Ridderd doesn't play for the Bengals and I
don't get my Des ridder number four Bengals Jersey, I
might get a ninety seven this is my guy. Oh,
this is my guy. But this is I might get
a Shamar Stewart Jersey. I love this dude. I love
this guy. I love the edge that he plays with.
I love the fact that he gave us two and
(02:00:10):
a half months of talk radio content. I love the
attitude that he brings. It's refreshing to hear.
Speaker 4 (02:00:15):
Yeah, it's refreshing to hear.
Speaker 5 (02:00:17):
I love it. Like, in all seriousness, you give this
dude a lot of credit, because I'll admit that I
did it. I wondered, like, does this guy really want
to play?
Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
Here?
Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
Is this guy? You know, we're thinking like, oh, he's
going to go back and play college football, and he
has shown up and there's nothing to suggest that he
doesn't wants to do anything besides play here, play well,
make an impact and hurt people.
Speaker 3 (02:00:41):
You can make an argument that his impact since being
here has been the greatest on the defensive side of
the ball. I can't I.
Speaker 5 (02:00:49):
Think, without question, I think, without question defensive Rookie of
the Year plus twenty five hundred.
Speaker 3 (02:00:54):
Oh me, ask you about another player, because so much,
and rightfully so has been talked about with Shamar Stewart,
both on and off the field, guard was such a
necessity that a lot gets made about Dylan Fairchild. And
in the middle of that book, ended by those two
is Demetrius Knight, who, by all accounts has had a
great camp. He was in great coverage again today on
(02:01:15):
a great catch by Chase Brown. You see constant videos
of him working with Trey hendrickson or working after practice
or working on the side. Are we are we not
talking enough about Demetrius Knight for this team?
Speaker 5 (02:01:27):
Probably not, although against Philadelphia he didn't really do anything
to stand out.
Speaker 3 (02:01:32):
Yeah, so that which no one did on defense, But.
Speaker 5 (02:01:34):
No, no question. But like that's that's really where conversations
begin in the games that everybody sees. I do feel
like we talked a lot about Demitrius Knight for three
days and then Shamar Stewart showed up. But that's that's
not bad and and look like we hear it all
the time. You've talked about it a bunch al Golden
emphasizes linebackers, which tells me Demitrius Knight's gonna be given Dude,
(02:01:57):
was the second round pick. He's going to be given
a chance. I've been sitting in the studio here with
Taran for the last thirty five minutes and I haven't
been hanging on every word that you guys. Wow, I'm sorry.
I'll be honest with you. I listen to the drive up.
Speaker 13 (02:02:13):
Sure, just kidding.
Speaker 5 (02:02:15):
Have you gone through these ESPN positional rankings No?
Speaker 3 (02:02:18):
One through Onely we're big in rankings, but we didn't
do it.
Speaker 5 (02:02:21):
To day so one through thirty two, every position group,
they have the Bengals running backs at twenty seven. Yeah,
that's ridiculous.
Speaker 13 (02:02:29):
Yes it is.
Speaker 3 (02:02:30):
I just don't understand how that's a thing.
Speaker 4 (02:02:32):
Now, do they know who the Bengals running backs are?
Because sometimes they don't.
Speaker 5 (02:02:34):
I think this is like the best running back room
they've had in years.
Speaker 4 (02:02:37):
I agree, since probably Zach's first year twenty nineteen.
Speaker 5 (02:02:41):
Yeah, room now, I mean Joel Bixon was a bad player,
but like we're TODJ Brooks fans, we know what Semashe
p Ryank can do. Chase brown was awesome at the
end of the season last year. There are twenty six
teams that have better running back situations than the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (02:02:55):
That's incredible, man.
Speaker 5 (02:02:56):
All right, I'll run these past you guys. Offensive line
thirty first, Yeah, inside linebacker nineteenth okay, Edge rusher.
Speaker 3 (02:03:03):
Ninth woa okay?
Speaker 5 (02:03:05):
Now, off ball linebacker twenty second, cornerback twenty ninth, Wow, yeah,
safety twenty fifthike and quarterback for wide receiver.
Speaker 4 (02:03:15):
One quarterback four you said, yeah, quarterback now?
Speaker 5 (02:03:17):
Quarterback is like everybody you know.
Speaker 4 (02:03:19):
It's not just who's ahead.
Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
Of them, say, Jake Browning was a more than capable.
Speaker 4 (02:03:24):
Yeah, exists exactly who's ahead of them?
Speaker 5 (02:03:28):
Hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.
Speaker 3 (02:03:29):
I'm guessing if I had to guess Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (02:03:32):
Who's their backup? Sounds like an owl Cooper rush.
Speaker 5 (02:03:35):
Yeah, Baltimore, Buffalo, Kansas City one through three?
Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
Buffalo who they.
Speaker 4 (02:03:40):
Got after it missed Trubisky? And uh, Mike White, Jake.
Speaker 3 (02:03:44):
Browning, You haven't watched about Mike White? My bad? Yeah,
I can't. I can't disparage Mike White and then who's it?
Speaker 6 (02:03:51):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (02:03:51):
Gardner Minshew and behind Mahomes in Kansas City?
Speaker 4 (02:03:56):
I think so ass Yeah, Okay, I don't buy it.
Running Backs twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (02:04:02):
I am baffled.
Speaker 5 (02:04:03):
Tight ends nineteen.
Speaker 3 (02:04:04):
I am baffled that there would be twenty six running
back rooms better than the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (02:04:09):
Now because they have them with the seventh best roster.
I guess because they wait, you know, they're in the
top four quarterback, which is more important than safety, with
the twenty fifth, so seventh overall. But the one that
stood out to me was, and again you know this
is this is bait and I'm taking it. There are
twenty six teams that have better running back situations in
(02:04:31):
the Cincinnati Bengals. No, there are not. I'm not sure.
I'm not sure there are twelve. Like I'll be generous
and say, okay, fine, there's ten. There ain't twenty six
better teams at running back than the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (02:04:45):
Oh no, that's insane.
Speaker 5 (02:04:47):
I fully believe there are twenty four teams that have
better safety situations. In fact, the number might be greater.
I fully believe. So this isn't me complaining who's.
Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
The old line below the Bengals Texans.
Speaker 5 (02:04:58):
Oh God, I knew you were gonna hang on Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (02:05:04):
In two.
Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
Bab wait, I might change my mind about week in
week two, baby Sjamar Stewart Legacy game in a gold jacket. Okay,
all right, I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (02:05:16):
There you go it?
Speaker 3 (02:05:17):
Uh I would. We won't have a chance mode to
talk between now and the game on Monday except our
training coach this afternoon.
Speaker 5 (02:05:28):
A lot because I'm looking at this piece of paper
I have right here. Your name's all over it.
Speaker 3 (02:05:32):
Well, what's what's the what's the biggest thing you want
to see on Monday?
Speaker 5 (02:05:35):
I want to see the first team defense allowed no
more than six points.
Speaker 4 (02:05:41):
I'll give him two field goals.
Speaker 3 (02:05:43):
Wow, like moving a little bit touchdown.
Speaker 4 (02:05:46):
Let's make make a damn statement, right big OL's bend
but don't break defense.
Speaker 5 (02:05:51):
Ol, Come on, get the D back in your name.
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (02:05:54):
God, Ole's done Ow's work to get the D back
this week.
Speaker 4 (02:05:57):
His defense has done some really good things. He hasn't
been the first guy on the field since the first
show make me and today I think it was Dan Horde. Oh,
let's go.
Speaker 3 (02:06:08):
We can't time this out any better. I just heard
a rumble of thunder.
Speaker 5 (02:06:12):
So we'll hear that in the background when we talked
with him at three.
Speaker 3 (02:06:15):
Yeah, yep, I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (02:06:18):
I want to see the defense. Make me go to
bed on Monday going.
Speaker 3 (02:06:21):
Wow, I feel good. Wow.
Speaker 5 (02:06:23):
I like to go to bed, say to myself.
Speaker 3 (02:06:25):
Wow, yeah, oh wow, what was that?
Speaker 5 (02:06:29):
It's fair, honey?
Speaker 3 (02:06:31):
How did you go to bed when you thought about
Hunter Green getting traded?
Speaker 5 (02:06:35):
I laid there. I legitimately laid there between like two
thirty and three o'clock in the morning, just thinking to myself,
could I just do a show now?
Speaker 4 (02:06:44):
Can I go on the internet.
Speaker 5 (02:06:45):
Turn on the mic, and just I can't wait till
three in the afternoon. I thought about calling Jason Williams
at home, like, buddy, okay.
Speaker 4 (02:06:53):
I bet that one.
Speaker 3 (02:06:54):
It went well.
Speaker 5 (02:06:54):
Middle of night, yard dude, you posted that bad boy
in the morning? Everything good, Yards, cool.
Speaker 3 (02:07:01):
