I know is another big thing foryou. You know, the Cats are

(02:12):

wouldn't do that. Although Miami fansare welcome on Friday if they want to
come down as well. We'll geta Holy Grail's got a flag up.
They got a red hawk flag up. So on this flag. They got
Ohio state stuff, they got aNotre Dame. You see, we are
not limited to just one down herein the Tri state area. We are
the melting pot of sports right downthe middle. And it's going to be
a special opportunity, special, can'twait special right show? Hey yeah,
(03:00):
who apparently is a comedian. Nowhe is is gonna be uh next door
show Hey. It's weird because Showhe's got the interpreter through everything, and
then he meets Cameron Brink and he'sspeaking English and he's telling jokes and blew
it and funny, funny guy.Okay, Show, I'm starting to wonder
about show Hay. Meanwhile, oneof his quote unquote best friends when he
(03:23):
played for the Angels, David Fletcher, who is also someone who doesn't speak
Japanese, happened to be best friendswith sho. Hay was using the same
bookmaker as show Hey when he wasbetting on sports. Yeah. I'm sure
that there's nothing tied into that,Like we all have best friends. Yeah,
(03:44):
I mean, like with my friendsbe like, hey, why don't
you use this book maker? ButI'm not gonna use him. Come on,
listen, come on. I'm nothere to level accusations to anybody,
but I will say this, Iam starting to sync my teeth into these
conspiracy theories. And I think ifit looks like a duck, and it
walks like a duck, and itquacks like a duck, I'm starting to
(04:05):
think there could be a duck. You want to start to wonder if Major
League Baseball should just levy a little, a little slap on the wrist to
make sure show Hayes on the straightand arrow. They want to do that
this week, and it'd be greatbecause it would limit his three fifty six
bodying average in baseball. Maybe youknow, popping for ten games, something
like that, like that, justsomething simple. Throw it down today,
(04:27):
get them a week. Yes,all right, as we recast ball suspensions
brought to you by Draft Gigs,we recap everything that happened yesterday. We
got to thank our friends at KlausRoofing. That is the classroofing System of
Cincinnati, the trusted local roofing andgutter company. Visit krssince he dot com.
That's KRS since he with a ydot com. Uh, we're gonna
(04:49):
get into a Reds win, whichwe've got to appreciate these moments Austin,
when the Reds win and they wentat home, we've really got to appreciate
it to day after they did solast night with three hits. Ellie Deli
Cruz had two, Will Benson hadwon. They scored two runs in the
second. That's it from an offensivestandpoint. The good news. That's all
(05:12):
they needed because Andrew Abbott was filthy. Andrew Abbott was dealing seven innings,
four hits, no runs, oneone singular walk and two strikeouts. That
combined with Fernando Cruz in the eighthand Alexis d As in the ninth is
enough for the Reds to escape theirhome opener of this nine game homestand with
(05:34):
a two nothing win over the SanDiego Podjet. I'll tell you what you
don't want to see. The tweetthat I had crafted ready to go for
the Alexis walking the first batter onfour pitches, four pitches wasn't even close.
I'm gonna give credit to Tyler Stevensonhere. He immediately went to the
(05:55):
mound and put his arm around AlexisDas and from that point four he pitched
well. Started off with a strike, then obviously rolled up the double play
strikeout whole nine yards. But man, that was ah. I'm still worried
about that guy. It was agame that took just two hours and eighteen
minutes. It's all eight combined hits, and it's all a hit by pitch
(06:18):
on Jake Frayley that led to JakeFreley leaving the game. They're going to
do more testing today. But asabout visibly frustrated as you'll ever see David
Bell coming back into the dugout. And we've seen David Bell frustrated by a
call or an umpire before, butDavid Bell's frustration last night Austin seemed to
(06:42):
just stem from how many of yourguys are you going to watch be hit
by pitch or have to leave agame before you just say man, the
frustration builds over, and that frustration, unfortunately for the chair and the Reds
Dugout, build over for David Belllast night. Here's our poll question to
start the show. Who is moresore today? Jake Frayley after getting hit
(07:04):
on the hand by a cutter.Jonathan India after getting stepped on going into
home play'd stay in the game?David Bell after the exertion that caused him
to destroy a chair in the dugoutor the chair itself? Which of those
four is the most sore? Greatquestion? Oh, I loved it.
(07:25):
It was awesome to see from DavidBell. Now. People have been wanting
something and I understand not really hispersonality to do stuff like that, but
when he does, he makes itcount and I appreciated that from David last
night. We have some David Bellaudio today, we have some Andrew Abbott
audio today that we'll get to.Also, Andrew Abbot's really good. He
(07:45):
is. Nick Martinez goes tonight andhe goes up against Michael King. What
is interesting about this game tonight AustinA couple things. Is Jonathan Indy able
to play today after sticking out thegame last night? Is Spencer Steer available
to get back in the lineup today? I would doubt Jake Frayley is in
(08:05):
the lineup today, which means thatif you if you thought yesterday was a
piece together lineup, what could todaypossibly be? Yeah, something to watch
out for from a lineup standpoint,we will get As I mentioned to David
Bell audio Andrew Avid audio, we'lllook at the standings tonight's game around Major
League Baseball, which last night Austinsaw Ranger swore Us. Ranger Sworez of
(08:28):
the MLB leading Philadelphia Phillies, wholast night cashed in on their thirty fifth
win of the season. Ranger Sworezis nine and oh and I know wins
and losses. We talk about wins, loss no matter. He's nine and
oh with a one three six inten starts this year. He's pretty good.
Ranger Sworez of the Philadelphia Phillies, who, by the way, lead
(08:52):
the NL East by six games.Don't they have the best over the braces,
best record in baseball and they losta season series to the Reds.
Mm hmm. That's neither here northere. We've got NFL today. What
are you gonna say something about Rangers? Wuz no? I say he's good.
Oh, okay, if you wanta nugget, He's the only pitcher
(09:15):
in Major League Baseball in the lastone hundred and eleven years to go undefeated
with a one point five ERA orlower plus sixty five plus k's over his
first ten starts of a season. It's pretty good, you know. I
saw a question and this can wecan lead into this this weekend someone asked
a question seeing what shoe hee oTani is doing right now. He's hitting
(09:35):
three fifty six, he's like fifthin baseball or tie for fourth and home
runs? Is sho Hay too goodof a hitter to even get back to
pitching? Does that conversation ever happenwith the Dodgers? I don't know,
because we're seeing now he's always he'sbeen really good. He's hitting three fifty
(09:56):
six right now, and he's nothaving to worry about pitching every fing day
or fifth game. Is there anargument out there to be had that maybe
shohe shouldn't pitch. Yeah, itjust depends how much you value pitching and
how much that was a part ofthe conversation when giving him an insanely large
contract, which you would imagine pitchingwas a relatively big part of that.
(10:18):
Sure, but you look right now, and I know it's it's year to
year that pitching staff for the Dodgersis stacked. It's it's not I mean,
I understand that you would love tothrow Shohei o Tani into that mix.
But from a pitching standpoint, TylerGlass now has been lights out,
James Paxton has been really, reallygood. They've got Yamamoto who's been excellent.
(10:43):
I mean, that's what Yoshi Nobuna Yamamoto, right, So they've
got a good staff already. Yeah, maybe it's you know, listen,
he wouldn't pitch this year anyways,it would be until next year, So
maybe they look at it. It'sthree fifty this year. Yeah, but
maybe they're just really careful and givethem plenty of time to come back and
see what happens, and sure kindof always leave the door open. From
(11:05):
Yamamoto to Kobyashi, the great Austincompetitive eater is calling it a career man.
Kobyashi, he just no longer feelshungry, he said, he will
no longer be competing in any ofyou. So thank you, Kobyashi for
your commitment to the competitive eating world. You know, we're sneak retiring.
We're sneaking up. He's retiring becausehe no longer feels hungry. The NFL
(11:31):
draft is going to be heading too. He's going to be heading to Pittsburgh.
I believe right. Pittsburgh's getting adraft in twenty twenty six. Yeah,
could care less. That'd be coolthough, because the Steelers will probably
have the number one or gotta befun five pick or something that'd be fun.
I'll probably have to draft another quarterback. Last night saw extra innings.
(11:52):
You see baseball scores three late totie at five to five. They end
up losing an extra innings to UCF, which means they have to play Tech
today in an elimination game. Texasgot upset yesterday, so for the Bearcats
it feels like they have to beatTexas in order to get to the attorney.
We'll talk to Keegan Nickoson about thattoday from Bearcat Journal, Keegan will
(12:13):
join us to talk all things Bearcats. Kegan has done a great job covering
the base yes, so extra inningsin baseball overtime in Game one of the
Eastern Conference Finals last night Austin,it feels like Indy is going to regret
the way that last minute unfolded becauseIndy had the game one. A couple
(12:33):
turnovers in the last minute combined witha Jalen Brown ridiculous three to send the
game into overtime, where the BostonCeltics were able to win that game on
their home court and overtime, theydidn't win by ten and a half,
which means if you were tailing yesterdaywith locks of the night, you won,
but a one thirty three to oneto twenty eight win. You and
I and Moe we have a groupchat together with textanm back and forth.
(12:56):
That was an awesome basketball game.Oh man, it was so much awesome.
I was rooting for the Pacers andJalen Brown hitting that shot, my
jaw hit the floor. Yep ofjust like wow, do that? Yeah?
They the Pacers did basically everything righton that and they weren't able to
do it. I thought it wascool after the game too, Rick Carlisle
to complete responsibility, and then TyreseHaliburton said, no, it's not his
(13:18):
fault. It's my fault. Ishould have been better and came up with
two incidents instances where he wished hehad those plays back in those turnovers back.
So, I mean, how oftendo you see an NBA point guard
dribble a ball off his foot, dribbling up the court? Yeah, I
think did that in the last minute. I do think the Pacers will make
this a competitive series. I don'tthink that Boston's just gonna sweep them just
(13:39):
because Indiana is good enough offensively tobe in any game. But it's a
it's gonna be a fun series.I think most of both of these series
are gonna be I think I thinkthe game tonight is so much fun man
versus Luca Luca Kyrie quietly being ridiculousthrough the playoffs. That game is going
to be so much fun tonight eightthirty that that's one to watch for.
(14:01):
From an NFL standpoint, did yousee Austin that last night greg Olsen won
his second consecutive Sports Emmy. Congratsfor the work that he does in the
broadcasting booth, your former teammate.Do you know that Greg Olsen winning his
second consecutive Sports Emmy for his workin the broadcast booth was just replaced by
Tom Brady? I was aware ofthat, two straight Emmys. Sorry,
(14:24):
Bud, you're getting demoted. Toughworld out there, dog eat dog World,
day said. I believe it wasJake Cole who said Cole World,
Baby ain't nothing, Sonny Man.Uh. And from a Bengals standpoint,
we've got stuff to talk about today. Uh. And from an NFL standpoint,
NFL might do. NFL Australia, are we getting out of hand?
No? No, no, nono no. Are we getting a hand
(14:45):
do this? Are we getting outof hand? Yes? It's way out
of hand. What about the NFLin the preseason using optical yard tracking?
Yes, now that is something thatactually makes sense. Okay. There is
no more powerful and more inept individualin the NFL than NFL line judges.
They are awful at their jobs.Any sort of technology that will help them
(15:09):
improve. I am all for well. The way that these dudes, the
way that these officials are so badjust spotting the ball is crazy and it
has major impacts on games, andpeople just forget about it. They hide
in plain sight. Fix it,and I'm glad the NFL is trying to
(15:31):
We'll have more on the NFL.We have more from the open lock yesterday
for the Bengals. This is somethingthat came out of gambling. Sure,
because when there's not as many peoplegambling, you don't pay attention or you
don't necessarily see where the ball isspotted. And now all of a sudden,
people have a lot more money onthese games, and you're thinking,
(15:54):
wait, wait, wait, waitwait he was two yards ahead of where
they spotted that ball. Yeah.Crazy. We'll talk about more upgrades and
how this came about at pay CorpStadium improvements, upgrade on our investments.
We've got a Ring of Honor announcementAustin. The Ring of Honor game is
going to be Week three against Washington. No surprise, there, no surprise,
and voting is now open. JimBreech, James Brooks, Chris Collinsworth,
(16:17):
Corey Dillon, David Foulcher, TimCrumrie, Dave Lappa, Max Montoya,
Lamar Parris, Bob Trumpy, andReggie Williams all on the ballot this
year for the Cincinnati Bengals. We'lldo a little bit more deeper dive into
the Ring of honor, and somuch more between there and three o'clock.
Other NFL thing that I find interesting. Lamar Jackson is apparently down to two
(16:40):
hundred and five pounds. Who heplayed last year at two fifteen? Okay,
I think a couple of years agohe was two twenty two, twenty
five. Is she's wilton to waitenough? Down to two oh five?
Good thing? Bad thing? QuestionMark send tweets a good point. You
know who's not down to two ofive? Me? Patrick Mahomes. Oh
(17:02):
oh yeah, you know. Iwas thinking about me new life today seeing
old Patty Mahomes walking into the building. I was thinking about this. There's
a video yesterday of Pat Mahomes walkinginto the Chiefs facility. He's got a
gray T shirt on, and let'sjust say it's not a gray T shirt
that does him any favors. Nope, which I get. Man. You
(17:23):
you were very excited about this becauseof how often people seem to this guy's
gonna go down as one of thebest quarterbacks to ever live. How often
people seem to bring up your assetsyep, aka your man boobs yep.
And I thought about this. Youknow, we could come up with a
nickname. Patrick Mahomes is the mb P Wow Man Boobs pat also known
(17:47):
as man boobs Pike. We're gonnaget to a break m b P since
he three sixty a service of SkylineChili on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station
will start segment two with your phonecalls when we get back on ESPN fifteen
thirty. This is ESPN fifteen thirtyat iHeartRadio stations. There's a rip into
(18:12):
left center field off the bat ofVerdick, Hi and deep and disappears over
the wall. Big time home runright there by. Peyton Verdick's night of
the year. Come to the solohomer here on the bottom of the seventh,
second homer by the bats tonight thatincreases the lead. It's now seven
(18:32):
five bats here in the seventh onthe blast by Peyton Verdick. I think
blast is the right word. Austin, I would say So that was a
bomb, an absolute bomb, fivehundred feet woo off the scoreboard for Peyton
Burdick, who is having a greatseason down there in Louisville. And with
(18:55):
that home run, he now holdsthe record for the longest recorded home run
in Louisville Slugger Field history. Man, and there's been some great players that
have played at that field right overthe course of time Thattball was launched.
Man, Shout out Peyton Burdick, and shout out to our guy Jim Kiss
on the call. Jim's been doingsome great pregame interviews for their stuff and
(19:21):
also they've shared with Lance and withthe Red's pregame. It's been wonderful.
So shout out to Jim. Iknow he listens to the show. Doing
a great job. Man. Allright, Jim, thank you. All
right. I mentioned we're gonna getthe calls when we get back of this
next break because we only got afew minutes here. Mentioned yesterday Andrew Abbot
seven innings of four hit baseball,no runs allowed by the trio of Abbott,
(19:44):
Cruz and Diaz. David Bell afteragain watching his team struggling. I
know David Bell's frustration is not withthe team. It was with seeing Jake
Frayley hit by a pitch. JakeFreiley had to leave the game. He's
going to be evaluated more today. But visible frustration from David Bell slams a
chair. Just as a manager,I think a lot of things boiling over.
(20:07):
Do we have some David Bell postgameaudio? We do, if you
give me about at David Bell.We got some Andrew Abbott to share with
you. We'll look ahead to what'stonight and then after the break we'll get
to Marcus, Mark, Chris andmore of your phone calls. But we
will start things with David Bell. We've had a lot of guys hit,
you know, We've had a lotof guys hit in the hand, and
(20:29):
that's where that came from. Youknow, I just don't like to see
our guys get hit. I don'tlike and messes with their career, not
so much about the game, whichit does affect the game, you know,
affects our team, but mostly itaffects these individuals that are that are
trying to stay healthy and stay onthe field. So it wasn't directed at
any team or any pitcher or anythinglike that. It's just it was all
(20:51):
about you know, just we've hada lot. It's happened a lot,
and there's seen anything like it,so you know, at some point and
that's enough. There's not a wholelot I can do, you know.
So yeah, that's that's where itcame from. Who do we blame for
so many Reds hitters getting hit Austin? Is that the pitching coach as well?
(21:14):
No? Is that the approach inthe box? No? Is it
just bad luck? I'm gonna saybad luck and bad pitchers on the other
side. Okay, it does seemlike Reds hitters are hit a ton.
Well, maybe that's the scouting report. Maybe the scouting report is that the
red struggle with balls on the insideof the plate, and so he said
get them off the plate. Sothat's what teams are saying. So pitchers
are saying, okay, well we'regoing to go in there, and it's
(21:37):
resulting in players getting hit. Yeah, normally, Jonathan India has like a
bunch of hit by pitches. Idon't think he's been hit as much.
And last night he got hurt sliding. Yeah, on a questionable decisions,
very very questionable, but it worked. Sure. Jonathan India mentioned the Reds
only three hits last night, theyget across two runs. Ellie de la
(22:03):
Cruz ahead himself a good night. He was in an zero for thirteen slump
Austin. Ellie de la Cruz hastwo of the Reds three hits last night,
including an RBI in the second inning, also a h I believe it
was a sack fly by our guyuh Herd. A Bees got a big
sack fly last night. Yes,that's the one that they so India scores
(22:27):
on that. De la Cruz doublesto score. Will Benson and the Reds
three hits, two runs more thanenough because of what Andrew Abbott was able
to do on the mound. Hereis Andrew Abbott talking after the game.
You know, team has been playingreally well behind me. When I have
pitched day have given me run.Sport. Defense played excellent today, double
(22:48):
play. You know, they tooksome good swings. We had guys in
the right spots. All that kindof culminates into a good outing. You
gotta have a little bit of luckon your side. You gotta have positioning
right. But yeah, I justwas able to pitch where I needed to
at times, and you know Iwas able to keep their big boys and
everybody else off balance. How bigis a win starting his home stand off
(23:11):
following a tough, tough road.Yeah, it feels nice. You know,
we don't expect anything less. Youknow, we come out ready to
play every day. We knew thatwe just have to stick through to ourselves,
stay true to the routines and stuff, and eventually turn around, you
know, hopefully it's prolonged turning around, and you know we're gonna come ready
tomorrow to dominate again, and youknow, let the ships may fall where
they may. Now, I wouldgo short of saying dominate now. He
(23:33):
dominated would like to see the hittingmatch that but to nothing victory and getting
that elusive home win mentioned yesterday, starting a nine game home stand yesterday,
it's nice to get off on theright foot. It would be really nice
to have a six and three, seven and two type homestand to try to
get this turned around in a positiveway for the Cincinnati Reds. It will
(23:56):
be a little bit different tonight becauseit's Nick Martinez, but Austin. Nick
Martinez in his last outing didn't throwthe ball well against the San Diego Padres,
So I'm sorry, not against thePadres. Nick Martinez last outing was
the bullpen day or he went fiveinnings of scoreless baseball against the Dodgers.
So he's coming off what I thinkis his best performance of the year.
(24:18):
He'll be going up against his formerteam in the Padres, who he knows
a lot of those guys well,so it should be an interesting matchup.
And you mentioned the guy that isthrowing for the Padres tonight, Michael King,
right hander, So a lineup thattypically Jake Frayley would be in against
a right hander in a situation likethis, see how he recovers today.
(24:41):
Obviously the X rays were negative, but that's something to keep an eye out
on. By the way, forAndrew Abbott, nine times and ten starts,
he's allowed two runs or fewer. It's pretty good. Also, last
night recorded four to one pitchouts andtwo to two pitchouts. You know what
that tells you efficient attacking the zone, efficiently, letting the guys behind you
(25:03):
do the do the help. Imean, Andrew haven't had two strikeouts last
night. Yeah, he's an attack, punch out guy. Attack the zone
and see what happens. I loveit your phone calls on the other side
of this break since he three sixtyESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, a
service of Skyline Chili when I'm notin studio, I'm welcome back. Since
(25:38):
he three to sixty, moving alonghour number one, thanks to our friends
at Skyline Chili on ESPN fifteen thirtyCincinnati Sports Station. Again for a reminder
tomorrow normal since he three sixty.Just like today and every other day,
Friday, it's Cincy three sixty onthe road at the Holy Grail right down
there at the banks. It's gonnabe a fun Friday. We've got noon
(26:02):
to three. Tj Antne's gonna stopby to join us. Charlie Goldsmith will
be there and as of now Austin, this was question more early in the
week. Right now it says partlysunny and eighty one on Friday. Okay,
can't ask for anything else. Ican live with that. Come on
down to the Holy Grail, ceSincy three sixty live, and we'll continue
to have some fun. For now, Let's do what we won't be able
(26:23):
to do much on Friday because weare on location, and let's take some
phone calls. Marcus is calling in. What's up? Marcus? Well,
want to know for the stretch.Get into May thirtieth, that's it,
that's it. Small steps. Yeah, by this point, let's just take
all fed off day. So nownow the May thirtieth and then the June
(26:45):
tamph and see will see you bythen. Can't win nine straight games at
home if you don't win the firstone, Marcus exactly. I like where
you're at really gonna see if youare really gonna roll their eyes on this,
and Mark on Fire behind me areon the phone call list, so
it will definitely not like this. But herbiby didn't look too bad in le
(27:06):
spot last night, did he?Yeah? I mean it. It's just
a smaller sample size of what theyhave. But look, David Bell right
now is trying to find anything thatworks. And I like the battle that
that that he had early in thegame, forcing a walk and working the
count that David Bell is going tocontinue to try to throw different things out
(27:26):
there until this offense can find somerhythm of consistency. Yeah, me too
too, full count, full countsat bass one let to a walk And
maybe you all can explain this tome. How can you get credited with
a sack fly but not get creditwith an RBI, I believe. I
don't. I know, you don'tget credit to the RBI because there was
an air by the catcher, butI don't know how that still constitutes as
(27:48):
a sackfly. Yeah. I thoughtthat was really really strange on that on
that scoring ruling last night. Yeah, and also to Nick Martinez tonight,
am I the only one that's kindof like, and I'm speaking basically on
the mental side. Martinez hasn't beengood when he's been technically the starter,
(28:12):
but then the lights out when hecomes down the bullpen. I was kind
of thinking that we were going todo something similar to what we did last
Thursday, and let the suitor dowhat he did, maybe him go like
a full winning or two innings, sure, and then bring Martinez in.
Yeah. I mean, look thatthere is something to be said about that,
Marcus. I appreciate the phone call. There is a thought process there.
(28:36):
He did start a game on Aprilthirtieth against San Diego. He went
five innings and he gave up threeearned runs. The last start where Marcus
is talking about is the five inningsof one hit, no run baseball he
threw against the Dodgers. That isa thing, Austin. Just like there
are six men in basketball that wouldrather come off the bench, there is
(28:56):
the same thing in baseball where, for whatever reason, whether it's the build
up, whether it's the lead inthat some players may perform better starting or
they may perform better coming out ofthe bullpen during the game. Yeah.
I mean, he hasn't started agame since April thirtieth, but he did
start the season as a starter andhad some good performances as a starting pitcher,
(29:18):
earned that job coming out of springtraining. But historically, over the
course of his career, he's beena better pitcher when he comes out of
out of the bullpen, and especiallyin those situations where they need him for
a little bit longer. So yeah, I was a little surprised, especially
with an off day and a daytoday, in a game last night where
you only used two pitchers in yourbullpen and they didn't throw a ton of
(29:42):
strikes, that maybe David Bell wouldbe apt to go back to that strategy.
But he's gonna stick with Nick Martinez, and maybe that means that he'll
go the backside where maybe he doesn'tgo four inning, or maybe he doesn't
go five or six innings. He'llonly go four and then they'll switch it
up with that bullpen and get themsome work. So you put different ways
(30:02):
you could do it, you mightbe able to look and say, Okay,
last time you really had to relyon Frankie Montoss because you had the
bullpen game, and you're trying toavoid that and try to get four or
five good ones out of Nick Martineztonight. Nick Martinez, for the most
part, in my opinion, Austinhas struggled as he gets through that lineup
the first time. That's where Ithink he just hasn't made the adjustments to
allow him to be successful deep inthe games. But again you mentioned the
(30:26):
familiarity with San Diego pitched against himearlier this year. Another opportunity for Martinez
tonight, Mark, as Marcus said, is waiting on hold Mark, what's
up? Yeah, how's it going? Yeah? That was a good win
last night, But I need tosee five more before I'm gonna get excited.
Yeah, I mean, did youwatch India? Wasn't in the leadoff
(30:48):
spot. I didn't know if youwatched the game? No chance he watched
No, no, no, Ihad to just wait and see the alcohol.
Yeah, I'm protesting that because butI'm under standing today's baseball a little
more than you know, than Ihave before, because what what they do
in today's baseball is like, Okay, take for example, show hey he
(31:11):
back second for the Dodgers. Inthe seventies and eighties and nineties, here
of baseball, he would have beenbatt and third. So it looks like
to me what they do today isthey take that three, four and five
hitter and move him up. Nowthat now those hitters are two, three
and four. Sure, so theythey basically took the middle of the lineup
(31:33):
and moved it up a couple ofspots. So that's what that's what it
looks like to me today's baseball isdoing today. But let me make a
Bengals point and then I'll get offthe ring of honor. Yes, I
like. I like Corey Dillon andLamar Parrish. Man, Awesome, that
(31:55):
sounds familiar. That's what I That'swhat I figure most people would feel like,
Yeah, that was what I've seenboth of them guys play. I
saw Lamar Parris play in seventy seven. As Dave Lapham refers to him,
he was deon for Dion. Youyou had to know where he was on
(32:15):
the field. Sure if you ifyou saw play, and then of course
I'm assuming you both saw Corey Dillon. Yes, I don't know. Yeah,
yeah, I mean to me,he he was the best running back
I saw on Bengals history. Imean him and being James Brooks. But
yeah, I always look at Ialways look at James Brooks in today's NFL
(32:37):
would be ridiculous. But what CoreyDillon was for that era, he was
phenomenal for the Bengals. Okay, yeah, okay, So I'll get off
and listen to the rest of theshow, all right, Mark, thank
you. Yeah, Well we'll debatethat a little bit later on. But
yeah, I think I think alot of Bengals fans will feel very similar
to the way that Mark feels ifthey were voting for the Ring of Honor.
(32:58):
Correct. One final call here beforewe get to another break. Chris,
what's up? What's going on?How are y'all? I'm good man.
Happy early birthday to Austin. Yeah, Chris, thank you. Yeah,
I'll be down to Holy great offFriday. Let's go look forward to
it. I'll be right there, hey man, I'm just kind of the
(33:21):
Reds and they you know, onand off, I mean mostly off.
But they played it at Abbat atthe hell of a game last night,
and it was a you know,a welcome sight. I mean, let
me let me ask you, Chris, if if you had defining because the
Reds have been up and down alot, if you look at the next
eight games and let's just say thenine game homestand what's the minimum the Reds
(33:44):
have to leave home with after thesenine games from a record standpoint, to
make you feel good about where they'regoing. At least six to three.
They gotta go. At least theygotta win at least six, hopefully seven
games. If they don't do that, I don't know if I got any
more trust in them. Yeah,I mean six, seven, seven would
probably mean they win all three series, which is what they were doing early
(34:04):
in the year, and then it'sit's fallen off since then. I have
it at minimum six and three, and you could start to say, Okay,
maybe they're starting to round out. They're getting out of this gauntlet stretch
of May. Let's see where thingsare. Anything, you know, five
and four or worse, a losingrecord is going to be tough to rebound.
For this team. Absolutely correct.Hey, I just want to give
(34:28):
you a tipit here. Just nominatedmy son who was in the US Army
and military and for military here overthe game. Awesome, awesome. He
was over in Iraq in two thousandand three two four he slew UAVs and
he could see his plane hanging inthe Smithsonian right now. Saw the screaming
demon he painted it. WHI wasover there, So get a shout out
(34:51):
to him right now. He's notlistening, so he's gonna find out sometimes,
Nick Saint Pierre, you know myguess my letter in the Yeah,
Chris, tell your son thank youfor his service and we appreciate your call.
Man, thank you, thank youso much. I love you,
Yes, sir, thanks man,Man, I love you too. That's
cool, very Chris, very cool. Austin, did he say he was
(35:12):
what was he flying the UAVs andlike shadow drone some that's some major stuff,
man, those things are awesome.Same question to you, Austin over
the the next knowing you got onein the bag. Over the next day,
what's the what's the record on thishome stand for you? From a
minimum? The minimum I said wasfour wins? Four Yeah, four and
(35:34):
five, and you're like, yep, let me take that. I don't
think that. I'm like, Idon't think like cast that ticket. I
think four and five is like, man, they don't totally sign. Man,
that's no, it's gotta be.You gotta go six and three.
They got one in the bag already, and they get to play the Cardinals.
They stink, Man, six andthree, give me six and three,
(36:00):
And I'm where do those six winscome from? All Right, they'll
get one more against San Diego.Okay, that's that's two and one.
Uh huh. Then they go oneand two against the Dodgers. What if
I told you they played the Dodgersin a four game series? No,
they don't. Okay, they don't. They don't. I was just asking,
what if I told you they didthree and three going into oh,
(36:24):
three and three going into Saint Louis, see win at least two against five
and four. Okay, man,it's close. I felt. I felt
good about it. And then Isaw that the Dodgers have Paxton bull Er
Yamamoto lined up for this weekend.Start mapping it out. And then I'm
thinking, okay, Nick Martinez tonightprobably on the losing end of that and
(36:45):
so see, yep, I've switchedit five. They gotta get the five,
all right, and then I'm backin. We'll call it four and
a half. We'll finish our numberone Dodgers sixty when we get back on
ESBN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,ESPN fifteen thirty and iHeartRadio station. Wow,
(37:15):
welcome back. Since he three tosixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,
Hour one almost done already, Austin, time is flying this week.
We're services. We have fun man. Yeah, we're a service here of
Skyline Chili and uh excited to becoming to you on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station or via the iHeartRadio appwhere you can leave us a talkback.
(37:37):
And really I'm not sure what youcould leave us a talk back about today
since I haven't said anything stupid today, so you don't have any fuel you
actually have to leave an insightful talkback today. Well there's still time.
Yeah, I'm not saying anything else. I'm just going to be silent for
the next thirty minutes. Maybe weshould do like a daily MBP. No,
no, don't see you, AndI know what you're trying to do.
(37:58):
You're trying to drum something up forpeople to get behind on talkbacks,
and I'm saying it's too late forthat. I should start a band.
If it would be the drummer.Would the name of our band be ooh,
there you go A would the nameof our band be? We could
do like, uh, just nameourselves. Jeff Henry's second album, Yeah,
(38:21):
we know right away. Well weknow we'd never perform, well,
never have to perform, because youjust kind of rely on. Does Jeff
listen to the show. Absolutely,I don't believe that Jeff listens all the
time, as we give him ahard time. Promise. I've promised Jeff
many times when the second album isdone that he can come into studio and
perform a song on air, andhe still hasn't got it done. He
(38:45):
posts he doesn't like our show thatmuch. He goes to the beach like
nine times a year to quote unquotesongwright, where are these songs? Yea,
where are we at? I thinkhe's just going to the beach.
Unbelievable, real quick. By theway, Happynniversary shout out to the Mayso
family yesterday. Yeah, Maso notthe anniversary. Man, Nothing better when
(39:08):
that anniversary comes around than celebrating withthe love of your life to remember.
I'm sure Maso made her breakfast inbed. Yeah, I'm sure he woke
up, you know, supplied lunch, brought gifts home afterwards. Shout out
to Maso for another anniversary knocked itout of the park. No, I'm
sure. I'm sure he had anabsolute home run. To wrap up our
(39:32):
baseball conversation here, we're gonna switchto Bengals and some other stuff to kick
off the second hour. It isright now, even though they've lost too
in a row. The Yankees ontop of the American League. They also
lead the Al East, obviously overthe Baltimore Orioles, the Cleveland Guardians Austin.
We've kind of waited all year onwhat the Gardens're gonna do. Are
they gonna come back to reality? They lose Shane Bieber really early in the
(39:54):
year. All they've done is winfive in a row. They've win eight
of their last ten. They're nowthirty seventeen, But at thirty two and
seventeen, they only having a gameand a half lead on the Kansas City
Royals six and a half up onthe Minnesota Twins, the Seattle Mariners,
Austin. They struggled when the Redsplayed They were struggling when the Reds played
(40:14):
them early in the year. Mannershave been playing good baseball. They lead
the Al West over the Texas Rangers, and don't look now Austin. At
twenty two and twenty seven, winnersof eight of ten, the Astros are
finally starting to play good baseball.Philadelphia Phillies mentioned earlier on top of all
of baseball thirty five and fourteen. That is six games clear of the Atlanta
(40:35):
Braves. Cardinals are about to knockoff the Orioles right now. They are
going to the top of the ninthinning with a two run lead in Saint
Louis. This is finishing up agame that started last night that was one
to one in the sixth inning.Saint Louis now holds the lead. They
play a doubleheader to day. Theother game starts right after this game,
(40:57):
but that would mean that would meanthat every team in the NL Central has
won their last game Brewers Cubs,Pirates. That means the Reds are still
eight games back of the Milwaukee Brewersentering play today and a ton of daytime
baseball today, and the Dodgers, who come into town after the Padres,
lead those Padres by eight games. In the NL West, they have a
(41:21):
nine game lead over the Arizona Diamondbacksand the San Francisco Giants. Oddly enough,
and we'll kind of wrap our baseballtalk with this right now, Austin
mention the Reds and right now havingthe third worst record in all of the
National League only a minus five rundifferential. I mean, you look at
the Rockies and the Marlins minus eightythree, minus seventy four, the Reds
(41:45):
in their run differential. It's theif you look at the negative run differentials
in baseball Tampa, Houston, Toronto, Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago,
Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Saint Louis, Washington, New York, Cincinnati,
Colorado, Miami, the Reds outof all those teams, have the smallest
run differential in baseball. Yeah, there's only two teams in the negative single
(42:07):
digits. It's the Reds and theAstros. That goes into the one run
losses that this team has incurred. And it has just been killer. And
you hope at some point that waterdoes find its level. But we went
a lot of last year and theReds were great in those one run games.
So hoping right now that that canget itself back at some point and
(42:32):
they start winning some of these closegames that it just doesn't feel like,
at least from watching it, itdoesn't feel like there's confidence in what they're
doing, especially from a hitting standpoint, which yesterday, when Chad Brenda was
on for Moegar he received from Cintifanon Twitter said, according to Baseball Savant,
(42:52):
the Reds are tied with the BlueJays for the lowest average exit velocity
in the majors at eighty seven pointeight miles per hour. So a lot
needs to start changing on the offensiveside of the ball if the Reds are
going to get this thing turned around, and they have another chance to do
that when a lineup becomes available,we'll give you that for now. We'll
(43:14):
break. We'll come back and let'sswitch things to the football side. A
lot going on with the Cincinnati Bengalshere and around the NFL. We'll get
to that when we return. Thanksto our friends at Skyline Chile, it's
Cincy three to sixty on ESPN fifteenthirty Cincinnati Sports Station ESPN fifteen thirty thousand

Cincy Shirts and everything they do forus here on Sincy three to sixty.
It's our number two ESPN fifteen thirtyCincinnati Sports Station. Your talkback's coming up
in just a few minutes. There'sa lot going on, and there has
been a lot happening over the courseof the off season for the NFL,
(44:22):
and last week that slowed a littlebit with the schedule release. That now
there is this dead period and there'sOTA's going on. But you're not going
to gather. I know, andAustin, I even think you tweeted about
this. I know that we asfans consume every bit of football that we
(44:43):
possibly can, and therefore every singlething that happens at OTAs we consume.
But there is a point where youhave to realize, this isn't eleven on
eleven, this isn't pads, thisisn't seven on seven, it's not one
on ones. It's pretty much offensiveinstall routes on air, defensive install walk
(45:05):
through type of stuff. There's onlyso much you can look to from a
football standpoint and take away from what'shappening now. It's cool to see a
Marius Mims out there, there's noone going against him. There are players
that aren't there. We mentioned THiggins and Jamar Chase still aren't there.
For the Cincinnati Bengals. The expectationis that T Higgins is not going to
show up until we get around thetraining camp. But from a excitement look,
(45:30):
you have to temper a little bit. It's great to see the videos
of Joe throwing, but it's reallyhard to take away what guys have at
this point. From Joe Burrows standpoint, yes, the risk looks healthier and
healthier, but what you have inJermaine Burton until he's running routes against a
established defender, or Amarus Mims isblocking Trey Hendrickson coming off the edge,
(45:52):
it's really hard to get a gaugeon that stuff until you get there.
Does that make sense? Because Ifeel like we want consume and go over
the top with everything we see fromfootball. There is just a part that
you have to temper that just alittle bit when it comes to what's happening
now across the NFL. Now,for the Bengals, over the last twenty
(46:14):
four hours, it has been avery eventful time because we've got more improvements
coming to pay Course Stadium, Austin, this is a significant, I believe,
private investment one hundred to one hundredand twenty million dollar upgrade to pay
Core Stadium. Now, this isI believe and jump in here, Austin
(46:34):
if I get this wrong. Thisis from the NFL owners in the league's
finance committee that this money is available. Right. So, the NFL has
a stadium financing program called the Gfive I believe is the name of it.
And basically what that does is it'sa fund of money that teams are
(46:58):
allowed to tap into to use forconstruction and renovations on their facilities. This
is primarily for situations much like theBengals, where you have a stadium that's
been around for a while, it'sstill in pretty good shape. It doesn't
make sense to put a two orthree billion dollars stadium somewhere else and a
team that wants to stay in theirbuilding. So the Bengals applied for this,
(47:22):
and you basically can get up tothree hundred million dollars to do renovations.
The Bengals asked for one hundred toone and twenty on top of renovations
they've already made this top of themoney that they've already put their own money
into, which is coming exactly comingfrom the Bengals. They were able to
get this approval for one hundred, one hundred and twenty one hundred and twenty
(47:44):
million dollars and it's going to beused for all sorts of different things for
the for the stadium. I'm happyto see that the stadium will continue with
We've talked about this so much withZach Taylor and the stadium upgrades we've seen,
and the visuals, the Ring ofHonor, the light shows that happen
(48:07):
on prime time, and just theoverall atmosphere and environment at games continues to
get better and they are dumping alot of money into making this the best
possible place to go watch a footballgame, Yeah, and I think that
and for the players as well, with locker rooms and things like that.
Yeah, the part that's interesting andit's important to note the difference between the
(48:28):
two. So the private money thatthe Bengals use towards stuff like the locker
room, that has to come fromthe Bengals. That has to come from
the club, because according to theNFL G five, any money that you
use has to go towards fan facingelements. It is meant to help the
fans and the game day experience andall sorts of stuff. So the Bengals
(48:51):
getting money for that after already reinvesting. This is going to be the third
time I think since Zach Taylor gotThey're in twenty nineteen where they've done significant
renovations on their own to the playerfacilities. Now they're getting an extra one
hundred and twenty million dollars to helpthe fans as well, on top of
some of the stuff that they've alreadydone to help the fans, including moving
(49:14):
that plaza and making that much bigger, so it's less of a choke point
on game days. And if you'veever been caught in that, you know
how frustrating that can be. Soyes, the Bengals are doing all the
things they are supposed to do inthis situation to help their fans, to
help their team and invest in afranchise right now that is in what some
(49:34):
would consider to be the glory dayson You know, I'm reminded Tony of
that scene from the Office, Ohwhen Andy Bernard, who you remind me
of a little bit when Andy saidto the camera, I wish there was
a way to know you're in thegood old days before you've actually left them.
And I just just want to tellpeople you're in the good old days
(49:58):
right now for the Bengals. Youare in the good old days. You're
experiencing that with the way that thisteam has invested in the team and now
helping the fans to have a betterexperience. And understand, all that money
doesn't come from Mike Brown's not tomake Mike Brown and all those guys look
great. But they didn't have toapply for that money. They did that
(50:21):
on their own to continue to makethe most for the fan experience. And
they're a super Bowl contender year ina year out with a hometown kid essentially
in Joe Burrow at quarterback. Theseare the good old days now with the
announcement of the edition of the StadiumUpgrades. Also today comes the announcement of
the twenty twenty four nominees for theRing of Honor. The voting is now
(50:43):
open, Austin, I believe itgoes through early June. Yeah, goes
through June seventh. June seventh. The Ring of Honor game will be the
Monday night home game against the WashingtonCommanders, that is on September twenty third.
There is a blurb on Bengals dotcom. I'll give here about each
candidate. Jim Breach is a candidate, the only one thousand points scorer in
(51:05):
Bengals history, kicked in their firsttwo Super Bowls, third leading scorer in
the NFL in nineteen eighty one tohelp him get the first one. Jimmy,
Jim Breach, fantastic career. Andwhat's cool here, Austin is on
all of these nominees. Dave Laphamgives a take on each. Oh,
that's cool. Dave Lapham played withsix of these candidates and he covered the
(51:29):
other four. That's how long DaveLapham has been tied David Lapam. Does
Dave give anything on himself. We'reabout to find out. Okay, So
Dave on Jim Breach, it seemedlike the more important to kick. He
rose to the occasion, whether itbe overtime or playoffs or Super Bowls.
I thought he was going to beMVP of Super Bowl, of the Super
(51:50):
Bowl, I voted for him. That's Jim Breach. James Brooks. You
and I mentioned Austin. In today'sNFL, James Brooks would be a dominant
back. He was so oh soahead of his time six four and forty
seven yards. Brooks is still thebengals second all time leading rusher. It
says on here, think Marshall Falkbefore Marshall falk Yep, that's who he
(52:13):
was. During eight seasons with theBengals, James Brooks had more yards from
scrimmage than any other running back inthe NFL except Eric Dickerson, Roger Craig
and Marcus Allen. Those guys arepretty good. Dave Lopham says, pound
for pound, maybe as physical aguy that they've had on the team,
not afraid to run people over.Ridiculous five. Chris Collinsworth storied career before
(52:39):
AJ Green and Jamar Chase. Itwas Chris Collinsworth. He became the franchise's
first thousand yard receiver in a rookieyear, played in two Super Bowls,
three Pro Bowls. He's won sixteenEmmys as one of the greatest NFL analysts,
and I know that doesn't go intothe vote, but he's done very
(53:00):
well off the field as well.Dave Lapham says the thing I respect most
about him, though usually guys likethat don't want to go across the middle
and make the catch. He wasbig time tough. Yeah, I mean,
Chris Collinsworth was as tough as anybodythat's ever played the game. And
I will say I don't know thatyou necessarily have to say that. It's
(53:22):
it's about like the ony thing inChris's presence on TV I think is part
of this as well, sure, because I mean in the statement from the
Bengals, it says the Bengals Ringof Honor recognizes former players, coaches,
and individuals who have played a significantrole in the franchise's history and tradition.
Chris Collinsworth has done an excellent jobrepresenting the Bengals for a long long time
(53:45):
at the national level, and Ithink that's part of it. Clark killing.
Corey Dillon come on all time leadingrusher in Bengals history eight sixty one
yards, six thousand yard seasons inhis first six years, author of two
of the NFL's grading greatest rushing daysever, broke Walter Payton single game rushing
record, broke Jim Brown's single gamerookie record. One of six running backs
(54:09):
post nineteen sixty seven with at leastfour seasons of eleven hundred rushing yards and
over four point six yards per KerryLap says, an unbelievable combination of size,
speed, and physicality. I cantell you right now that the poll
question today or the trivia question todayfor the Dirk Spentley tickets will be centered
(54:30):
around one Corey Dylan clock killing.Okay, some of the notable ones here.
David Fulcher, the inventor of thesafety blitz, The inventor of the
safety blitz, one of the mostversatile defenders of his era. Two thirty
five chess piece is what he's referredto, oh two and thirty five pound
(54:52):
chess piece and move them all overthe field. Thirty one interceptions in eight
seasons, third most by an NFLsafety, behind only Ronnie Lott and Joey
Browner. Tim crumrae the Cowboy Beast, one of the most inspiring players in
Bengals history, a tenth round pickwho immediately became one of the top interior
(55:12):
players in the NFL. Dave Lapham, as we've mentioned Austin and listening to
the Super Bowl, Tim crumra doesn'tget hurt. Correct. Listen to this.
Dave Lapham quite simply mister Bengal themost versatile offensive lineman in club history
before becoming a radio boost staple.Starting at right guard on Paul Brown's best
and last team in seventy five, starting left guard on the first Super Bowl
(55:36):
team in eighty one, played allfive line positions during two of his one
and forty games. He has beenassociated with all three of the club super
bowls. Listen to this. Forforty eight of the last fifty years Lapham
has been with the Bengals. Ashe heads into his thirty ninth season behind
the mic who said that that's thenumber. That is the number behind Dave
(55:58):
Lapham the last fifty years. Yes, he's been with the Bengals as he
heads into his thirty ninth season behindthe mic but you said that Dave was
commenting on all the others. Well, no, this just says our take.
Okay, the quick analytical mind, who's our who knows the Bengals?
Okay, who knows? Interesting?Max Montoya greatest guard in Bengals history,
beast, greatest guard in Bengals history. My dad used to have a poster
(56:24):
of Max Montoya enjoying a diet coke. I believe it's still in great condition
and storage, right, But Ihad that up on the wall for a
long time. Yeah. Linebacker ReggieWilliams, most productive linebacker in franchise history.
Fifty four sacks, seven hundred andeighty eight tackles. He had fifty
four sacks, fifty four. Ididn't realize Reggie had so many. Bob
(56:49):
Trumpy, of course, well knownaround these parts, giant on field and
in front of a camera. Formertwelfth round pick, became a key instrument
as the Bengals brain trust of PaulBrown and Bill Walsh of all of the
modern passing game. There you gofrom sixty eight to seventy three, two
hundred and sixteen catches, fifteen pointeight yards per catch, and then finally
Lamar Paris, one of the mostelectrifying Bengals of all time. In eight
(57:12):
seasons, he returned for a touchdown, four interceptions, four punts, three
fumbles, and a kickoff. It'spretty damn good. Seventy to eighty two,
he had forty seven interceptions, secondonly to fifty three of Bengals teammate
Ken Riley. Yeah, good luckthrowing on those boys. Woh. Paris
is one of six cornerbacks with atleast eight Pro Bowls and the only one
(57:32):
not in the Pro Football Hall ofFame. Yea unbelievable. Yeah, I
mean leaping Lamar Parrish was a beast, And to me, I think the
way I see it, I wouldvote if I was a voter, which
I am not. If I wasa voter, I would vote for Corey
Dyllon. I think it's self explanatory. And I have said many, many
(57:53):
times how much I loved Corey Dillongrowing up. He was a dominant running
back and it's without question, thebest running back in the history of the
franchise. Yeah, and that's whyit would be hard. It would be
hard to say, because I knowJames Brooks is deserving, but you can't
go Brooks before Dylan. No.I don't think my opinion, I don't
(58:14):
think so. Some people would disagreewith that, but you know that's all
right. I just to me,I look at it and I say,
okay, Anthony Munos, he's widelyregard is the greatest left tackle that's ever
played the game of football. He'sundeniably the best left tackle that's ever played
for the Bengals, and the Bengalshave had some good ones, and Andrew
Whitworth is fantastic. He's gonna bein Canton one day. But I look
(58:35):
at all the running backs in theBengals history and to me, it's a
comfortable margin between Corey Dillon and anyoneelse. And then for the second one,
I would vote for Dave Lapham.Just the impact that he has had
on this franchise in so many differentways, through the good and the bad,
and the person that he is andthe representative that he is and continues
to still be to this day,and just the impact he's had on the
(59:00):
good parts of this franchise. Ithink Dave Lapham is also deserving. And
I do think it's important that it'snot just what happens on the feld that's
the thing, because if it's onfield, it's got to be Lamar Parrish.
Yeah, I was still deserving. But if that's fair as a Bengal,
how can it not be Dave Lapp? Yeah? And I also think
that, you know, it's it'sgood that they, you know, divvy
(59:20):
it up the ways that they do, and there are people that are gonna
value on field production much more thanthey would anyone else or anything else.
That's the beauty of the fan vote. Yeah, or what they would,
you know, for for Dave oranything he does off the field. So
I totally see both of those sides. I don't think the Bengals are wrong
or I don't think the fans arewrong with going with either one of those
(59:40):
two guys or either one of thosethree guys, He said, continuing to
stutter towards the end of the segment. You can, you can let us
know what you think. Leave usa talkback. We'll get to those talkbacks
when we get back. Since hethree to sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports

(01:00:36):
Hey guys, Marcus from the Groove. After the Reds win last night,
I truly believe that there are socalled fans out there their root for
the Reds failure so that we canjust move past the season and get into
football season. Because on Twitter andon the Facebook post Reds fan pages,
(01:00:57):
even though the Reds won, allI could see was all the Reds only
one with three hits or dis walkthe lead off batter. It's just insane.
Well, you know, the Redsfailing won't make time go by any
faster. Yeah, I don't thinkit's that. I just think it's the
way they've played. We're conditioned toexpect the worst right now. Also,
(01:01:19):
Marcus, people just like to complainthat is also true. Hey guys,
Happy Wedsday. Just watching the newsthis morning after David Bell's antics. So
this looks like he's made a watchlist called ETOK Ethical treatment of Chairs.
(01:01:40):
Okay, what's all the rain we'regetting? What's what the water? Philip
granted Ricon throw a few sharks tothere and we can have shark in the
park. You know, that's apretty good job. But it's a pretty
good job by har You know, don't give many deals. We get Josh
Hugheson on him happy, It's theWednesdays to you, Tony and Austin and
(01:02:05):
all the fine listeners out there today, Kevin and r the Kentucky Here Bengals
have the Ring of Honor nominees outthere, man, I don't think you'd
go wrong with any two on thatlist great choices. I want to throw
my prediction out there and say,how about Leaping Lamar Paris and Dave Lapham
Damn, damn love it, loveit? Okay, splitting the difference there
(01:02:30):
between lap and Leaping Lamar. Ican understand that. So mo Agory advertises
a bar whose slogan is stay long, come often. Are we sure that
he's not mixing up a read forthe Bunny ranch. I don't think there's
any reads for those ranches. Nocomment, can't say you know, great
(01:02:50):
show again, gentlemen, as always, thank you, Austin. To answer
your question at the top of theshow, my answer is d the chair
feel Okay. I never knew itbefore, but I'm in favor of destroying
chairs that I think more chairs shouldbe destroyed. Matter of fact, when
I get off flounch, break I'mgoing inside my DJ and I'm a destroyed
(01:03:14):
chairs all right? Then, yeah, you know, Bob Knight did it
famously back in the day. Mwwe Oh yeah, destroyed a lot of
chairs. Oh yeah yeah. Soas funny as the Tom Brady roast was,
you know, I hate seeing somebodylose their job when they excel at
that job. And the fact whatthey're doing to Greg Olsen Tom and that
(01:03:38):
got dirty. Man. They wantthe public to love Tom Brady so much
because of who he is and whathis name means, but people don't really
know Tom Brady. I think he'sjust a weirdo. And after seeing that
roast and him and Alice Guerrero,he is a weird m f R.
All right, I knew he wasweird, but botox, I don't think
Tom Brady's I don't. But Ithink Greg Olsen is so good at what
(01:04:00):
he does. Yeah, And also, you gotta keep in mind this was
kind of decided upon before they realizedhow good Greg Olsen was going to be
correct, and now it's like, you can't away from that. They can't
go back on their word. It'sgonna work out great for Greg greg Olsen.
He's gonna get some great opportunities becauseof it. But yeah, I
mean, at this point you're goingfor the name and the money of honor
(01:04:27):
opens today voting that is I knowyou guys know that already AnyWho for any
season remembers go out there, pleaseto be a favorite for the greatest running
back in Bigger's history, the manwho's already be in the NFL Hall Fame,
Dyllan. How about the ice manbringing the energy. Here's the thing.
(01:04:54):
Now, we're not here to tellyou who you need to vote on
a Wednesday, and oh I'll tellyou. That's tell you who I think
you should vot. But that's whoprobably we would vote for. The Iceman.
Iceman conks. You believe this wholeMahomes thing, uh proves that you're
the beeryre The further you can throwthe ball, your reaction, well,
(01:05:15):
I think you know Mahomes and Ihave both thrown passes the Travis Kelcey we
are similar in that sense, andwe could both throw passes over mountains,
So you you can add the rest. Hey, Tony, it's your old
Pat Herbert. Oh no show,I was thinking, yeah, thinking about
(01:05:44):
Herbie checking out, all right, herb Man all right, then, Hey,
what up, dope? This isMo coming from Mount Healthy. All
right, mo, I see youguys are on the David Belle slash analytic
trend because usually you got Mark battenleed off we're taking calls, and today
you had him batt in second.Yeah. I mean, I don't know
what the change is. I don'tknow why you switched it up, man,
(01:06:08):
but I think we need to haveMark continuing to bat leadoff. Okay,
on we gots are taking calls, man, Well, Mark was talking
about today's baseball and how things changeup a little bit. So we were
just trying it on our end. We're trying to advance analytics. So here's
the thing. Tony wanted him tobe lead off. I wanted Mark to
bat third since he's such a powerhitter and has so much power. Yeah,
(01:06:28):
so we split the difference. Toomany flowers about third? Yeah,
put him at second? You know, Hello, this is for Meer and
Ronald Reagan on a manifestation Wednesdays. And speaking of manifestation, doesn't Andrew Abbott
remind you of possibly the new manifestationof Tom Browning. Believe in Freddie Norman.
(01:06:48):
And lastly, if I want toknow if a player has hard all
I have to do is look tosee what's on the inside of his chest.
It's so true. You gotta checkinside the inside of the chest,
the back of the chest, allof it. Man special one comment,
Tony west Side Marlin here, whogot Drake Kendrick Lamar, let's hear it.
(01:07:16):
I don't know enough I've heard.I've heard. Probably I would imagine
Kendrick one. I think so both. I think went a little far.
Yeah, I'll tell you Boston luckyto get to win last night by three
with seven seconds. Man, yougotta get to w Miles Turner. He's
(01:07:41):
impressive. I think. I don'tthink there's any way in hell Boston could
be Denver Dallas. I think maybeDavid Bell bring back Dada Penson, Brank
Robinson. I feel like they'd bebetter with Vada and Frank in the lineup.
All right, then, all right, then he dousands of Brad in
the NBA Blue Eyes. Anyway,Hey, Toddy, what do you think
(01:08:05):
about you see Clifty coming up thisyear in football? Yeah, I'm concerned,
absolutely no buzz about the program Saderfield. I mean that guy has the
charisma. My one hundred and nineyear old great uncle Sympis. I guess
one good thing they might have aquarterback that can actually play the position.
(01:08:28):
The last guy was terrible. Atleast he got his name, right.
I mean, you gotta have thatgoing for you, right. Uh.
I genuinely think that that it hasto be six wins this year. Walker
from the West Side. A coupleband names for you boys, All right,
let's start with this one. TheRed Hot Titty Peppers. Okay,
(01:08:49):
we got Ariola Smith or the Begsdo guys? Oh okay, all right.
I walked away from that red gamethinking the exact same thing I did
from when it when it started, and that is they suck. They were
only able to muster three whole hits, one of them being an infield single
(01:09:11):
off Joe Muskro whose stuff really wasnot very good last night. That's why
they took him out after the thirdinning. Yeah that it's just uh now.
Andrew Abbott was great. He wasawesome right out, But I other
than that, I didn't see awhole lot. I would imagine they took
him out in the third inning becausehe hadn't pitched in three weeks and he's
(01:09:31):
coming off the injured list, andwhat's going he had already owned sixty six.
How long were we gonna say,Well, if they go eight and
two years, seven and three,I think they can turn it around,
the first time I've done it.We keep saying that, and they're they're
not. They're not turning around. They haven't won two games in a row
in five or six weeks. Imean it's getting they're getting to the point.
(01:09:55):
And they returning eight games back ofthe division, the four games back
in the wild card of three orsomething like that, and there was like
eight teams ahead of them. Theseason is likely over. It's not true.
All right, that's the first timeI've said that that over this nine
game homestand let's go six and three. Whoever this guy is, he just
left four talkbacks in a row. Please don't do that anymore. Hey guys,
(01:10:19):
Chris Analogy, Hey Chris Andrea. Here, I'm out working on the
farm today. As you might knowor may not know, I'm also in
the music industry. Yeah for aliving. You can name of the band
te Pike featuring Austin Elmore and theTalkbacks. Oh, the hit album Sprinkle
Sprinkled, Drip Drip, as suchsingles as Wow, my Stolen Car and
(01:10:42):
a couple of drops. You guysare ready made for the big time.
That was brilliant, Chris, thankyou so much. A couple of drops,
Yeah, Chris sen us a musictheme care a couple of years.
Yes, Hey dudes, Brandon fromAnderson the doing by the rest of you
guys. But I would definitely buyan album called Pastor p and Audie Live
in the five to one three.Oh. Also, I'm very excited and
(01:11:03):
proud of the UC baseball team thisseason. Yeah. So, as Rocky
used to say, as he wouldcall in and speak in tongues for about
twenty five seconds with no interpretation, whod be me go back? Ah?
I love that, And thank youfor the Pastor shout out. I am
Yes, I am ordained now toofficiate weddings, Master p. I'm gonna
(01:11:26):
preempt some of the trolls and bots. So quote unquote fan facing means they're
not going to improve the food forthe players. I would imagine that's being
that's been improved. Man. Butyes, the money that they announced yesterday
not necessarily part of the cafeteria improvement. James Brooks was always one of my
(01:11:46):
favorite Bengals players as an old guyand James Brooks. Part of his training
regimen was to run the steps atOld Rivers Riverfront Stadium, old School,
which I would look at that andI couldn't imagine doing that, but he
was one tough mother. Yeah.Shout out to the old guys out there.
(01:12:09):
Yeah, guy, Tony, youwere talking about Jim Breech rise through
the occasion. I don't think Ican take a better example than in THEFC
Championship and at that fake often Itotally agree. Man, Like a bit
my band rolls their eyes, ButI say that kind of stuff all the
time. When I'm like stressed aboutputting our foot on the gas, I'm
(01:12:29):
like, there's really no better timein this town to be doing really anything
than right now. You got it, Tray Shout out to Drew with the
subtle subtle drop there that he isin a band. Yeah, Drew's our
musically talented friend. Maybe we couldopen the guys happy Wednesday talkback matters guy,
Yeah, you think the over underone hundred thousand for the three game
(01:12:51):
series with the Dodgers and the Reds. Do you think it would be over
one hundred thousand or under what wouldyou think over impossible to be over one
hundred, that'd be a lot.My pick for the Ring of Bingals,
it would definitely be not be ChrisCollinsworth. Not Chris Collinsworth. Okay,
(01:13:14):
all right, I guess it isa forty a night. Yeah, I
don't think they're getting that. Idon't think they're gonna pull that, but
I do expect good crowds. Iexpect thirty thousand Friday. It's the Dodgers,
it's show Hay for my birthday,and it's a birthday. It's a
lot going on. Hey, guys, Lauren, I just saw that Facebook
(01:13:36):
new Byline equipment game in the NFLfor like yards of the game, and
I'm just curious what you guys,Well, we have a strict policy on
the show. If we covered early, we expect you to be listening to
it early. Uh No, Ithink it. I think it's good for
(01:13:57):
the NFL. I think that theyneed something. A rare article from Facebook
that was actually true. Yeah, gotta be careful, Eliston. I said
this earlier. NFL line judges suckanything that can help them do their job
better. I am in favor ofI hope that the technology they test in
preseason. You're say an NFL linejudges suck comma anything that can help,
or they just suck anything. Theysuck period. Okay, no COMMA fans
(01:14:23):
using. As you all are aware, I'm running for president. I'm talk
my campaign headquarters a great American ballpark. As president, I'm suckbacks.
You have to wear lots of differenthats. In other words, be a
utility player. So here are afew utility players from Red's history. I
love it. Number twenty eight,Christizy, Jerry Harrison, jars for you.
(01:14:48):
Did this yesterday, same talk backfrom yesterday. He's losing it.
It's also Jerry Harston, not Harriston. Listen. The pressure of the elections
are already getting to Joel here.I'm concerned his name is Joe, not
that he said Joel. I thoughtthat was part of the the act.
I'm worried about him Ron representing Nattyout here in Zono. Last night,
(01:15:12):
pitching was phenomenal. Seven strong inhis abbot, had a boy abbot.
I'm a little bit concerned about thelack of hitting, but I'm not surprised.
But you've got to figure a wayto come out this funk win too.
Let's start off small, win too, and I'll be home next month.
Oh man, it's time to getmy Grippos skyline and Penn Station went
(01:15:33):
to come home, all right, let's go. I hope, we hope
we crossed paths. Yeah, Ronnie. Ron Marcus is the type of guy
that tweets we're back, but hemeans it doesn't at all. We really
are back. In Marcus's eyes,we're so bad. It's a good falling
(01:15:53):
and easiest back you're going down thisweek in town? Can hm? It's
good. That's good. I expectto see balling on Friday, taking it
easy for the tournament coming up.Yeah, big tournament, all right,
that was our last one. Listen, Marcus from the Grove is a good
man. He is all right, and he desperately wants to win just like
(01:16:14):
the rest of us. And theReds are his thing. Amen, So
let the man be, you know, speaking of speaking of the Memorial Day
Tournament Austin, I've taken a gamblethis year. I've gone away from star
power and I'm bringing back basketball fundamentals. We don't have the superstar this year.
We've got five really good players onthe roster, and I'm hoping that's
(01:16:38):
enough to get a victory. Sodepth better than talent. And I told
Devon that if they beat us inthe finals this year, I will not
be marrying them. So I'm threateningyou. You're already married, dude,
I'm not marrying them Devin and hisfiance Beth. Yeah you, why would
you? I will not. Iwill not officiate the wedding if. Oh
(01:17:00):
that's what I'm saying. Gotcha? So we got that on our shotcha.

(01:19:34):
I'm doing wonderful, Paul, PaulPaul. Corey Dillon set the single
game rookie rushing record in nineteen ninetyseven. In two thousand, he set
the single game rushing record. Whattwo teams did he set those records against?
I need city or state and teamof the two teams he set those
(01:19:59):
records against. I remember the gameagainst the Broncos. I'm thinking that was
I think that was not the rookie, was it. I think that was
the I think the Broncos. Waswas the game where he had the two
seventy eight Yes, that's correct.Who did he break the city the rookie

Paul. Let's go to Shane andSharonville Shane. What two teams did
Corey Dillon break records against? DenverBroncos and Baltimore Ravens? Incorrect? Thank
(01:20:45):
you, Luke and Wide Oak.What two teams did Corey set those records
against? Well, I'm gonna gowith the Broncos. Let's go with t
Chargers. Incorrect. Let's go toJoe in Florence. Joe. In nineteen
ninety seven, Corey Dillon set thesingle game rookie rushing record and then in
(01:21:05):
two thousand he set the single gamerecord as a whole. What two teams
did he do that against? Broncosand Oilers? Yes? It is now.
What was the city or state thatthe Oilers were in at that time?
Oh, Tennessee Oilers. Yes,look at this, no hesitation from

Cincinnati Bearcats right now and gracious enoughwith his time. Keegan, what's going
(01:23:00):
on? Man? How are you? I'm doing great, Tony, how
I'm good. I'm good. Let'slet's get started with what's happening in just
a couple hours. It's Bearcat baseball. And you and I have gotten together
a lot over the course of thelast year or so and talked about what
football is building, what basketball isbuilding. We've talked about the gifts for
(01:23:23):
women's basketball. You look now atwhat and I don't know if people on
the outside necessarily understand the job that'sbeen done year one of the Big Twelve
for Bearcats baseball. How impressive isit what they've been able to accomplish this
season to this point. I thinkit's probably one of the most impressive things
(01:23:44):
a UC coach, definitely a Bigtwelve coach maybe in the three power sports
of baseball, basketball and football, has done. When you think about,
you know, it's his first Powerfive jobs. He's risen through the ranks
of A ball D two ball thenorth Woods League, and he gets to
Cincinnati, his first Powerfied job,and then he goes and finishes fifth in
(01:24:09):
the conference and was in play tofinish second in the conference going into the
last weekend, and then they losetwo to three to Oklahoma, kind of
end the regular season on a sournote. But he just has such an
entertaining brand of baseball, and it'sfrom kind of a distant perspective. It
looks like his players love to playfor him because he just preaches hustle.
(01:24:33):
He preaches putting the bat on theball, and most of all, and
I've heard him say this, hepreaches having fun. Because at the end
of the day, these kids areplaying a game you think about, you
know, all the scholarship implications, possibly playing Major League Baseball, all the
pressure from the outside world, parents, former coaches, friends. He wants
(01:24:53):
to remind his guys that baseball isstill a really fun game and that's ultimately
the goal is to go out thereand have fun. And so far this
season they've done that. Kind ofstruggled to circus season finished really well,
won a lot of games at home, So I think UC fans should be
really excited because what they've done inthe Big Twelve and the Big Twelve is
it's like basketball. It's one ofthe best baseball conferences in the country.
(01:25:15):
You give the SEC the edge obviouslywith all the powerhouses there, but teams
like Oklahoma State, Texas, Oklahoma, PCU, and Baylor have had really
really good seasons in the past fiveyears, and for UC to go in
in year one and just do sucha great job is really really impressive.
Ay come from behind effort comes upshort last night, which leads to today.
(01:25:40):
It's a matchup that comes about againstTexas because Texas, I believe,
lost in their first round as well, so it becomes an elimination game for
Cincinnati Keegan in this game. Theymust win this if they want a chance
at one of those at large berthsor would they need to win multiple games?
In your opinion, what are theirtournament hops right now they have to
(01:26:03):
win. I think they might haveto get to as far as the championship
game of the Big Twelve to kindof have a chance. I think in
terms of their RPI. Losing toUCF last night really hurt them. Having
the Yukon cancelation really hurt them. But they they have to stay alive with
their current resume. If they wereto lose today and go fortune the Big
(01:26:25):
Field tournament, I don't really seea chance where they end up in the
field in the NCAA Tournament for baseball. But yeah, I think they have
to. They have to make apretty serious run. And from what we
saw last night was coming down orcoming back from being down two runs in
the final inning with two outs andan Enfield single gets it done. I
(01:26:46):
think this team, this team knowsthat they're not completely out of it.
They have the talent, they havethe power, they have some gutsy pitching
to be able to compete with Texas, and I know that they're you know,
when they're playing with their backs againstthe wall. I think they got
a pretty good chance. We havefound out C. J. Frederick is
returning. That was kind of thelast holdout of making it official. You
(01:27:09):
add CJ. Frederick, you hadConnor Hickman, you add Dylan Mitchell from
last week. Can you talk aboutthe job of Wes Miller in today's collegiate
sports to be able to keep acore nucleus together while also adding pieces that,
by a lot of accounts have thempositioned to be a top twenty five
(01:27:29):
team going into next season. It'sit's rare to do what Wes Miller has
done this offseason in today's college sports. Yeah, it's extremely rare. And
I think you can. You cantake away Dylan Mitchell, Arianton Page and
Connor Hickman, and when you lookat the landscape of today, the volatility
with all the rosters, if youcan say, hey, you know,
(01:27:51):
we're going to bring back Dan Scaling, We're going to bring back Seamos Ducosias
and Gisel James, and I thinka lot of fans would have been,
Okay, let's do it. Let'sroll in with this team and see what
we can do. He goes aheadand does that. He talks about how
important that is, that the mostimportant recruiting that they had to do after
the season was in their locker room. It wasn't in the portal. He
(01:28:13):
goes and does that, and thenhe gets two really good players, and
Connor Hickman and Ariton Page take himin. A proven shooter can also get
to the ram. A combo guardthat's really going to help with Giessel James
and data. Thomas Harrington page lessproven, but he just has so much
upside and with the prior relationship, they kind of knew that they needed to
go after him to see if theycould maximize his potential. And then they
(01:28:36):
just go out and get one ofthe maybe the top ten players in the
entire portal and Dylan Mitchell and kindof the perfect guy. I don't want
to say perfect because he doesn't exactlyhave the same exact skill set as John
Newman, but a really good defenderthat can kind of take away another team's
best option on offense. And thenhe also is like a sixty percent field
(01:28:58):
goal shooter. He's got freaky bounds, He's a really good rebounder. He
fits with the with the identity ofwhat you see wants to do. It
also helps the Florida Rebels pipeline. That's that really good AAU team. He
used to play for the Florida Rebels. They have a lot of good players
that you see always looks for,but I think it's the guy that he
(01:29:19):
could come in for a year, have a really good year, maybe average
twelve thirteen points a game, keepthe rebounds up, and then you know,
go to the draft, and Ithink, you know, for Wes
Miller to do that so late inthe cycle and to beat out some interests
from some really, really good teams, I think it shows kind of what
he's selling to these guys and howclose they were last year, and that
(01:29:43):
he is not leaving himself any excusesto try to get back to the tournament.
And you know, the pressure's onnow because this is a really good
team and Wes Miller really wants toget back to the tournament and the fans
want to see as well. Thatwas going to be my follow up then
to that, Kegan, What doesthis do now to the expectations of a
team that has missed out on thetournament for multiple years now arguably a top
(01:30:06):
twenty five team going into next year. Does that create a must get to
the NCAA tournament for Wes Miller comingup? I think it does, and
I don't. I don't necessarily thinkit's gonna be, you know, burn
everything down if they don't make it, but it's going to be questionable when
(01:30:26):
you put together this roster if theydon't make the tournament. Now with what
we saw last year, with allthe injuries at CJ. Frederick being injured,
Tiamos Lukoscha's situation. You know, you never know what's going to happen.
But on paper, if you takethis roster and they can stay somewhat
healthy, they should be in thetop half of the Big twelve, and
(01:30:48):
then they should be getting to theNCAA tournament. There's just there's too much
returning experience that's on the upward trackof continually improving. They're going to develop
more, they're going to produce more, and then you mix that with some
already experienced talent. Dylan Mitchell twoyears in the NCAA Tournament with Texas,
(01:31:10):
started seventy plus games, was justa constant contributor for Rodney Terry and Chris
Beard. I just think it's toogood of a roster to miss the tournament,
and if a lot of fans arereally really upset if they missed the
tournament next year, I would completelyunderstand their criticism of west Miller in that
(01:31:30):
program, you speak of expectations. As we spend a few more minutes here
with Keegan Nicholson a Bearcat Journal dotCom, I'm having a little bit more
difficult time because the roster for basketball, you see how it comes together in
today's college football, It's almost impossibleuntil you see these guys at camp because
you're adding I think twenty one newfreshman, you're adding twenty six from the
(01:31:54):
transfer portal. That's forty seven newbodies coming together for a football team,
including a quarterback and Brandon swardsby includingtrying to get more skill. It's a
team that brings back every starter onthe offensive line. It's a team that
returns a thousand yard Russia and CoreyKiner. Where do you start the expectations
(01:32:15):
going into year two for Scott Saderfield, I would say from a pure record,
standpoint six and six is a musthave in my opinion. Looking at
their schedule, two four seven Sportsgave them the easiest schedule of the entire
country. When you look at it, their toughest game, it's probably Kansas
(01:32:38):
State at the end of the year. I think you should be able to
beat TCU at home, you shouldbe able to beat pitt at home,
and then you know, Texas Techand Colorado are going to be some tough
games to go on the road andwin. But this this team has the
ability to get to seven and fiveand six and six is a must.
But I completely agree with what you'resaying about you don't know what you have
(01:32:58):
until you see these guys in canI just know that this staff is extremely
more comfortable with this roster's amount oftalent than what they had last year,
which is why you saw so muchturnover. They got two guys out of
the transfer portal and Xavier Lozawiki, offensive lineman from I think it was Albany,
I believe some. I think itwas Albany got him over USC and
(01:33:24):
you know he's kind of expected tocompete on that offensive line that repairing five
starters to possibly play a role. And then they got linebacker Jake Golde,
who from everything I've heard, issupposed to be a stud. He was
being pursued by Florida State in Illinois. He should slide into a starting role
if everything goes to plan. Sothey've got on some talent, and it's
(01:33:46):
talent that has a future that theyhave one to two more years left that
they could contribute to this team. But it's the defensive back room that's completely
been rejuvenated, and it's the quarterbackposition. Two things right there are what's
going to decide what this team doesbecause you know Corey Kiner is going to
going to produce. You know theoffensive line is going to produce. So
(01:34:11):
you got to get after the quarterback. You got to get some interceptions for
some turnovers, and then you haveto make things down the field. This
team, this team could not dothat last season. So many missed the
balls by two to three yards. They could have given them two to three
more wins if you look at itjust purely a scoreboard add up, but
you know it's it's really it's reallya prove it season for Cincinnati and they
(01:34:34):
added so much you can't think itsomehow gets worse after last season. Obviously,
the upgrade or hopeful upgrade at quarterbackin Brendan Sowersby, what did you
see from him during the spring thatwould give optimism for Bearcat fans? Or
addition to that, what does heneed to work on between now and the
(01:34:56):
start of camp. Because we cantalk about roster construction all you want.
At every level, you've got tohave a quarterback that kind of stirs the
drink, and for the Bearcats theyhope to get that with Sowersby. What
have you seen up to this pointthat would give that optimism to Bearcats.
I think the number one thing whencomparing in to Emory Jones last year,
(01:35:18):
an Tony, you would know thismore than anyone. Emory kind of seemed
like a quarterback who if his firstread wasn't there, he kind of just
bolted. He tried to get downfieldand uses legs. From what I'm seeing
with Brendon Sorosey through practice through thespring game, he's someone who's going to
stay in the pocket and navigate thesecondary. He's someone who looks to get
(01:35:40):
out of a pocket and try tosend the plays and make plays downfield.
I think that's going to be refreshingto a lot of fans who last season
it was a lot of Emory Jonesrunning trying to get two to three yards.
It was a lot of deep balls, too many interceptions. But I
think the other thing is Brennan Soroseywants to make plays. Sometimes that's going
(01:36:00):
to lead to a few interceptions downthe field. It's going to leave you
scatch into your head. But he'sgoing to fit some throws in some tight
windows and some big positions where youknow it's looking like nothing's going to be
made of this play and then somehowsomething is not comparing him to Josh Allen
or Patrick Mahomes in any way.But it's kind of that model of they
want to keep it alive and theywant to get downfield, kind of the
(01:36:25):
gunslinger type to just make as manyplays as possible. And I think that's
something that with this rejuvenated wide receivercorps, Tiaran Smith as a guy who's
going to stretch a field. ZagerHenderson is a guy that a lot of
UC fans should be excited about againfor year two, probably going to be
a draft pick after this year ifall goes to plan. His mix of
(01:36:45):
size and speed as something you don'tsee a lot. So with Corey Kiner
in that offense and with the offensiveline, they should be set up for
kind of a flip it on itshead season compared to last year and the
stores we can go to. AndI think that's why that's where my seven,
five, possibly eight and four predictioncomes into play. Keegan. But
before I let you go yesterday, the Big twelve settled in the house the
(01:37:13):
NCAA case. The ACC has joinedthe Big Twelve. In Layman's terms,
can you just map out what thiscould mean for the University of Cincinnati from
a financial standpoint. Yeah, Ithink their situation is pretty murky already because
of the half payoffs that they're gettingfrom the conference over the next two to
(01:37:38):
three seasons. I'm not exactly surehow this impacts the university directly. I
know Chadd and Aaron did it,did a nightcap on it a couple of
nights ago about the difference that thismight make. But you know, this
whole landscape is crazy, especially withthe with the rumors of private equity getting
(01:37:58):
involved with some of the programs foryears to come. But you know,
in terms of the financial state foryou see, they've got to get to
the point where they're getting a fullrevenue share from the Big twelve before they
can feel comfortable about anything, becausethere's going to be some sacrifices that they
have to make and some fundraisings thatthey have to do in order to be
(01:38:18):
in the best financial situation. Sothat's where I think when they start getting
a full revenue share, that's whenyou can kind of look at, Okay,
what are what are our options andhow do how do certain stuff impact?
Because you know, when you're payingback damages. I don't think that's
a great thing for anybody, butI just think that get the full revenue
(01:38:40):
share and then you can figure itout from there. Keigan. Awesome stuff
is always on every level from baseballto basketball and football and everything going on
in NCA sports. What's the easiestway to follow along with all your coverage
of the Bearcats? Yeah, followkay Nicholson forty two on X and then
subscribe to Bearcut Journal to keep update with all the all the best UC
(01:39:00):
information for all the sports. Awesome, Kegan, You're the man. Thanks
for your time today, have agreat week. Thanks, Tony, I
appreciate it. Yes, Sir Keegannickoson Bearcatjournal dot com gracious enough with his
time today on this Wednesday afternoon,we will move along our number three plenty
more still to go. Cincy threesixty a service of Penn Station on ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnatis Sports Station, Nopethirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Welcome back Cincy
(01:39:38):
three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati SportsStation and a service of our good friends
at Penn Station. East Coast SubsFresh Cut Fries, Freshley squeezed lemonade.
Thank you to Penn Station. Westarted the show pretty much wall to wall
(01:40:00):
Cincinnati Reds. We added Bengals anhour number two. We just got done
talking to Keig and Nickoson of Bearcatjournaldot dot com and from the time we
started the show and recapped everything thatwas from last night with the Cincinnati Reds
to where we are now Austin. We actually have a lineup for game forty
nine of one sixty two that happenstonight at GABP. The Reds back in
(01:40:26):
action six forty first pitch against theSan Diego Padres, Nick Martinez gets the
ball for Cincinnati and tone here there'sold. The local club will line up
leading off in left field, JacobHerdebeest Okay. The second batter is the
shortstop, Elie d la Cruz battingthird and playing third, Jamer Candelario.
(01:40:48):
The cleanup hitter is the catcher,Tyler Stevenson. Mike Ford bats fifth.
He's the DH batting sixth in playingfirst base. Spencer steer Hey batting seventh
in right field. Nick Martini welcomeback. The eighth batter is the second
baseman, Jonathan India, batting ninthand playing center field, Will Benson once
(01:41:12):
more tone for the Red Lights. It's Herdabees, d La Cruz, Candelario,
Stevenson, Ford, Steer Martini,India Benson with Martinez on the mound.
There you go, all right, couple things here, all right?
Right handed pitcher for San Diego.Yes, Michael King back at aboutur point
(01:41:33):
three to one ERA back to backgames, Herdebes leading off for the Cincinnati
Reds. M h Ellie two.Good with that Candelario based on how he's
played. Good with that Stevenson Ilike in the four hoole, with how
he's hit the ball lately. Ido find it interesting the affinity for Mike
Ford, especially when Spencer Steeer isback in the lineup and you choose to
(01:41:57):
hit Mike Ford above Spencer Steer NickMartini? How about that? How about
where Spencer Steer is Sandwich. Twoguys that battled for a roster spot that
have both been sent down at differenttimes this year. Mike Ford and Nick
Martini back in the lineup today forthe Reds. India seven Benson or I'm
sorry, India eight Benson nine.Okay, Will Benson got your only hit
(01:42:19):
outside of Eli Davila Cruz yesterday. So the lineup's always going to be a
talking point with the Cincinnati Reds, and I understand why. It's just you
didn't really expect Jake Frayley in thelineup today. It is a good sign
that Spencer Steers back. It isa good sign after taking a hard slot
and a little bit of a hitthat Jonathan India is able to play again
(01:42:41):
today as well. Those are allpositives for the Cincinnati Reds who look to
do the elusive thing in baseball Austinand that is start a winning streak.
Yes. A big thing here obviouslyis Freyley not in the lineup and Steer
is back in the lineup, andmaybe a little bit of protection for Mike
Ford. Uh oh yeah, Tylersteps in front of Spencer Steer and Nick
(01:43:03):
Martini returns facing a right hander andhad played really well on Louisville, so
he maybe he gets that opportunity.Among Reds who have faced Michael King in
the past, h jam R Candelariois oh for two against him. Uh.
Santiago Espino in seven at bats ishitting four to twenty nine with a
(01:43:23):
nine to twenty nine OPS against him. So that's an interesting number. He's
Jake Frayley was OH for one againsthim in his career. Jonathan India uh
oh for two, excuse me,one for two in his career with a
fifteen hundred ops. So he's hadhad some success against him in a couple
of at bats. Uh Luke Mayleeis OH for one against him in his
(01:43:44):
career, as is Spencer Steer andTyler Stevenson is one for two all right
time with an extra base hit againstMichael King tonight. All right, that
is how the Reds will uh,I will say this. We'll take the
field tonight against Nick Mark Nick Martinez. There are one, two, three,
four, five Padres that have ops'sover a thousand against him. Oh,
(01:44:10):
so that is what we would saymildly concerning that is something for the
local club. If you're wondering andI know the strategy, it doesn't exist.
Because the Reds lost it or theywon as a home dog last night.
They are home dogs again tonight againstthe San Diego Padres. Other NL
Central Action Cubs will take on theBraves at seven forty, Pirates hosting the
(01:44:35):
San Francisco Giants, Marlins will hostthe Milwaukee Brewers, and as you mentioned
earlier, Austin Cardinals got that winearlier today, A game that was postponed
yesterday made up today and now thesecond game you'd say it's a game,
it's a couple innings Cardinals trailing onenothing over the Orioles today. That's where
(01:44:56):
things line up in the Eno Central. We've got one more segment to go
before we welcome in Mowager. We'lldo that when we get back. Since
E three to sixty A service ofPenn Station on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Stations three sixty continues on ESPN fifteenthirty, Cincinnati's Sports Station. Welcome back,
(01:45:21):
Cince E three to sixty, Aservice of Penn station on ESPN fifteen
thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. Happyto have you along, Thanks for joining
us today. Moager will be withus in just about ten minutes for quick
Hits and uh Locks of the Night. A want to oh start yesterday the
(01:45:41):
Locks of the Night thanks to theIndiana Pacers covering the number against the Boston
Celtics, A one to no start. What do you mean by that?
Well, it was Tuesday, correct, I wasn't in Monday. You guys
have been doing Uh, locks throughto the weeks to the week. I
wasn't in Monday. I wasn't hereyesterday. Yesterday was the first lock of
this week that I gave. Webreak this in week by week installments.
(01:46:02):
It's one week. You really shouldstart tracking the records by week, then
one to no week and uh,you're gonna say stuff like that. I'm
going to lead into something with theTimberwolves and MAVs and Locks of the night
if you want a little peek aheadto what tonight holds for uh, for
your lock of the Night. Beforeany of that, let's take Mike's phone
call. Mike, of course, the author Austin of the Home Dog Strategy,
(01:46:26):
which is very successful already this season, is the home Dog Strategy.
What's up, Mike. Okay,I'm very proud of that. I just
got lucky. There's an old man, old Italian racketeer from Detroit told me
about it. That's it. That'show I fought. I can't take credit
for it, I mean, butI did. Joey. You you introduced
(01:46:48):
it to this show, which weappreciate. Yeah, MOS been all over
too, so it makes me feelgood to return the favor to you guys.
You know, for what you've helpedme with, So it makes me
feel like I'm somewhat commensurate. Maybenot all the way, but sort of.
Hey, what a game last night. I know Austin was talking about
(01:47:09):
that shot by Brown, but God, Tony, like you said, they
gave that damn game away. SoI feel good. I still feel real
good about that twenty five to oneto win the championship. I really do.
Yeah. You know, how oftenin an NBA game do you see
a point guard dribbling up the court, dribble the ball off their lag out
(01:47:29):
of bounds. And it just sohappened to happen to Tyrese Halliburton in the
worst possible moment last night, butthey still had a chance. All you
gotta do is inbound to basketball, and they teach it day one basketball.
When you're receiving a pass, you'vegot to go towards the pass, make
the defender go through you. PascalSiakam did not do that, which allowed
Boston to force the turnover, andJalen Brown makes a really tough shot.
(01:47:54):
I thought the Pacers showed a lotof grit in the overtime by really making
it a game down the stretch andstretching. The Boston Celtics ten and a
half home point favorites needed a miraclefrom Jalen Brown in overtime to win Game
one. Yeah, I feel goodabout him in this series. And I'm
you know, you hate those moralvictories because they don't mean crap. But
(01:48:16):
but still they got to feel goodabout themselves. But like you said in
the garden, and you know thatbrings you up to them. I hear
Uv Brown say this all the time. I've learned so much from Ug Brown
over the years. It's ridiculous. And uh, he always talks about the
bounce passes forgotten and it really is. And it's a lot harder to steal
a bounce pass because guys aren't lookingfor him anymore because they don't use it
(01:48:40):
hardly. Yeah, it's it's completelydifferent. It's one of those basic things.
It's the mid range jump shot thatshake Guildriss Alexander has has brought popularity
back to that that just doesn't happenenough in today's game, much like the
bounce pass. Right, and thenI got one more quickieach. Yeah,
good, good job up for abbotleft. You know everybody talks about Hunter
(01:49:01):
Green and the other dude. Butreally about your best pitcher right now?
In my opinion, he is yourmost solid, reliable, best pitcher.
I would agree with that. Letme ask you one thing before I let
you go, Mike, I askedAustin this today. I asked mo off
Air shoheo. Tani is hitting threefifty six. Dodgers come into town this
(01:49:23):
weekend. Otani's hitting three fifty six. He's a third I believe in in
Major League Baseball on home runs ifhe continues this torrid pace throughout the year.
If you're the Dodgers, do youlook more into making Otani just a
hitter and not worrying about the pitchingside, or is he too valuable that
you have to use the pitching aswell? Yeah, you got to use
(01:49:45):
me to pitch. He's just oneof the top ten pitchers in the major
leagues when he's right. That's unfortunate. But what makes me wonder is how
well will he pitch for that softballteam behind the fence. That's true,
what do you think of you thinkyou'll well, you'll throw that'll it'll be
fast pitch. You know it'll befast pitch. I think he could be
(01:50:09):
a big hit there in West Virginiaor wherever they send it. But anyway,
that's all I got. Thanks Mike, appreciate it. Thanks guy.
Can you explain that to me?I have no idea what he's talking about.
I was I was thinking that wasa criminal side. Oh, the
criminal aspect of it, gotcha.I was completely lost. We have I'm
(01:50:30):
sorry, Mike not understanding. We'veliterally encompassed every single thing in the world
of sports today over a two hourand forty minute span. We will bring
in Moagger uh uh to pass thetorch to his show, The Mowagger Show,
which comes your way three to six, and some Locks of the Night
as well. When we returned,Since He three to sixty ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to PennStation ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station,
(01:50:56):
It's time for since He three sixtyquick hits. Yes, we're here,
he's back, Mowager quick hits,Locks of the Night. Yeah,
the Mowager Shows coming up. Wegot a oh boy, got Bearcats baseball
in action today against Texas. Yougot Ring of Honor nominees, you got
Reds baseball. So much to getto Mo what are you gonna do for
the next three hours? If youdon't vote for who I vote for in
(01:51:18):
the Bengals Ring of Honor, youought to be embarrassed. Wow, we're
going to explain. Okay, Ihave a Ring of Honor question. I'm
also going to help people cope withthe next time they read a T.
Higgins headline. I'm gonna help you. I'm going to help you. I'm
gonna help you. I'm gonna helpeverybody around the country when it comes to
(01:51:38):
T Higgins stories between now and thebeginning of the season. David Bell a
managerial masterclass last night because All Starmanager he inspired his team to get three
hits by throwing a chair. Yesnight to be that chair, it was
a bad night to be that chair. It was a bad night to be
(01:51:59):
a San Diego Padres hitter. I'mgonna go glass half full when it comes
to the Reds. Okay, glasshalf full? All right? Who are
Reds are looking for their first consecutivewins in a month. I am gonna
go glass half full. And therewas a piece in the Inquiry earlier this
week about Elie de la Cruz andhow you should not figure on him signing
a long term extension. I thinka lot of people missed the point of
(01:52:21):
the piece. I'm gonna help,That's what I'm here to do. I'm
here to help, So you're hereto help in many ways today that we're
going to try to help people out. Well done. I see you didn't
have anything in there about Kobyashi callingit quits. Competitive eater Kobyashi is retired,
citing that he quote no longer feelshungry. I don't understand the competitive
(01:52:42):
eating thing. We would do anythingto feel that way. I don't.
I don't understand the fascination with it. Every year we have the fourth of
July Nathan's hot dog eating contests. No, it's not, yes it is.
I don't understand it's awes. Idon't understand the allure. I don't
understand the attraction, and I don'tunderstand people who are like, you know
what I can do. I geteat twenty four wings in five minutes.
Sure, okay, neat Sure.I don't want to do that, eating
(01:53:06):
myself to the point that I wantto barf. Not my jam, I'm
good. I don't understand. Idon't understand the allure of competitive eating.
I don't find those people to beinteresting. I don't find them to be
fascinating. I find them to begluttonous and disgusting. So the hell with
Kobe Yashi? All right, thehell with him. I asked you this
(01:53:27):
as I was passing you today.Yes, Joey Josh, Joey Chess,
he's the best game, one ofa nine game homestand goes the Reds.
Why when? Because David Bell threwa chair in the dugout well We asked
this earlier. Who's the most soretoday? Jake Frayley, Jonathan India,
David Bell for exerting himself that way, or the chair itself? The chair.
This is why I love sports, because if I came to work and
(01:53:50):
acted like that, oh gosh,if you showed up in any office and
acted like that. Problem. Yeah, in baseball, it's not only accept
it's it's encouraged. Can you imagine, like man had a rough strand of
shows here, So I threw thischair through the TV and really rallied myself
and now the show's going. Well. It lit a fire in the staff.
(01:54:11):
We have a fire on everybody undereverybody at the radio station. Yeah,
over the next eight more win five, five and four? Sure,
okay, a minimum? How aboutthis? Can they win a series?
Question Mark? Were you surprised atall Nick Martinez the way they used him
in the last game? There areplayers out there in NBA that have been
better off the bench. Yeah, are pitchers that are better out of the
(01:54:32):
bullpen. Sure, a little surprisedwith Abbott going seven and only using crews
and Diaz that maybe you don't tryto run it back and see what Martinez
did against the Dodgers after an offday too. Yeah, a little bit,
a little bit because he was phenomenalthat good in that game against the
Dodgers, and so was Brent Souon, or so was everybody around it.
(01:54:54):
But yeah, a little bit.I sort of thought they would try it
again. Game one last night,Pacers fall to the Boston Celtics. Phenomenal
game. Is that one of thosegames, in your opinion, where the
Pacers look back and say, man, we can play with these guys.
Or is that the type of gamethat snowballs of Man? If we could
have got game one and then Bostonnow kind of exerts their will, they
(01:55:15):
gave away Game one against New YorkAnd my takeaway was they were the better
team over forty eight minutes. Ithought they would win the series, and
that was before the Knicks raally startedto deal with injuries. So for me,
the big takeaway is they were onthe road. They were the better
team last night. Offensively, They'restill going to be really tough to guard,
and so sure, they're down oneagainst a Boston team that most of
(01:55:38):
us would agree is better. Butbecause it was a road game and because
they do have a bit of ahistory of coming back after losses like that.
Granted they did lose Game two againstthe Knicks, I still think Boston's
gonna win the series, but Idon't think it's open and shut because of
last night. It is certainly mathematicallyBoston now has a better chance because how
many times are you going to playthem? And I felt like Indiana out
(01:56:00):
played them. But if I'm aPacers fan, I walk away from it
going Okay, we're still great Offensively, we did what we wanted to do
on the offensive and against that team, they stole one from us, But
I still feel like we have achance in this series. Sixty four regular
season wins for the Celtics, Yeah, it's been talked about of championship or
bust. Yet for many of theseplayoffs, I don't feel like they're the
(01:56:20):
best team. Is it truly championshipor bust? And do you think they
have a chance with the winner ofthis Minnesota Dallas? I do. I
mean they've played in is it sixout of the last eight conference finals?
They've been great and they have wonfinals to show for it. Yeah,
if is it championship or bust?I don't know, because to me then
(01:56:40):
it's would you pick Boston against eitherof the teams in the West right now?
Probably not. I don't think Iwould, But I do think it's
finals or bust. Okay, ithas to be in this version of the
Eastern Conference where everybody's gotten hurt, everybody's limited. Indiana has a legitimate case
to be the second best team. It's they're they're there, They're they air
through their own accomplishment. But theinjuries have dramatically shaped Eastern Conference playoffs and
(01:57:06):
that's the side of the league thatwasn't nearly as good. And then you
just look at how they've trended nowfor a while. They really should have
won that series against Golden State twoyears ago. They should have beat Miami
last year. It does sort offeel like it's championship or bus to a
degree, but again, I thinkmost of us would expect it. Whoever
(01:57:27):
comes out of the West to beatthem. Let's talk about that game in
the West with Locks of the Night. Haya generates it's time for Locks of
the Night presented by Sincy Shirts. Is it either store in Hyde Park or
on Dixie Highway and Fort Mitchell andalways online at sinceyshirts dot com. Now
let's make you some money, allright, mo? This line is four
(01:57:50):
and a half. I have noidea how to feel about this game.
I watched the way Minnesota defends, and I think, man, that's tough
for any team. But I alsoI think the Mavericks have defended better in
the playoffs, and I think it'sa lot harder to pressure and defend Kyrie
Irving the way they did Jamal Murray. Who do you like in this matchup
(01:58:11):
tonight? Who do you like inthis series? And maybe who's your X
factor? I like Minnesota in theseries. I like Dallas getting the points
tonight. I try to not fallin love with teams when I see them
at their absolute best. I thinkyou could fall into the trap of doing
that with Minnesota. In terms ofan X factor, I think Kyrie Irving
(01:58:35):
right now might be the most underratedplayer in the NBA because, perhaps because
of his own words and actions, the conversations about Kyrie Irving have over the
last few years drifted away from basketball, and now that he's not really making
headlines for things that have nothing todo with basketball, which by the way,

from Minnesota in five of their postseasongames. He has made that shot four
times. Wow. Plus five hundredman free money. Mullegger's next on The
