Speaker 1 (00:00):
Cincy three to sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored in
part by Skyline Chile. Stop by Skyline Chile through a
three way or chee Coney today, feeling good, It's Skyline time.
This is ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
All right, welcome in. It is Cincy three sixty right
on the heels now of what just was the Tony
and Moe Training Camp show. We're still here live at
Bengals Training Camp. Thanks to our friends at a door
and window they sell the best and service the rest.
Also special thanks to Adam Weber for sponsoring our broadcast
here Bengals Training Camp and all his continued support of
(00:40):
the Bengals all these many years. As we get into
our number one, I would be remiss not to say
thanks to our friends at Skyline Chili. Mowagger is here.
He's gonna hang out for about an hour or so
and then he's moving on because he's got a show
from three to six this afternoon. Yes, that's right, ten
am to six pm is what we're doing right now.
What if we did this year round training camp coverage
(01:03):
year round, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Just ten to six year round, but not any personnelse.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Sure, just add anything else we can. Also, Austin's in
studio with us. Austin, are you there, Hi, boys, Hi,
Austin's hal Cogan died Austin. Did you hear that? I did?
I was telling me over the break. We were in
Orlando for a couple of days. Yes, this is our trip,
(01:29):
and there is in Orlando. What I found out was
Orlando is like a Gatlinburg. Oh yeah, they have a
lot of like the similar stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
They have similar Like there's a study about how bad
road teams are in the NBA when they go to
the World Magic.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yes, listen, we were were leaving our dinner and there
is in Orlando a Haul Cogan superstore. And I'm like,
I remember talking to my wife. I'm like, you think
that's just all hal coke and stuff, shirts, belts, action figures.
I looked it up.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
It was well.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I said, the.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Words Hulk Hogan Superstore would suggest as much. I said,
word for word, we have to stop here. And my
wife said, no chance, bet you would change your tune today.
Speaker 4 (02:13):
What do you think that place looks like right now?
I mean kind of like the line outside of Bengals
training camp. The last two days. Yes, you would think.
I gotta be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
I'd rather go to the Hulk Hogan Superstore then go
back to BUCkies.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I wouldn't have walked across the streets to see HAULK
Cogan if you.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
Do BUCkies on your road trip BUCkies for the first time.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I've stopped there once.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I would appreciate the Bucky slander.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
It's fine, just like, oh, you've got to go. It's
the greatest barbecue sandwich of all time. Like, yeah, it's cool. Really,
it's the great the greatest barbecue sandwich of all times.
At the gas station, it's fine. It's okay.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
They don't have coke zero though, so that's an issue.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
That's problem. That's like saying the greatest like Philly Cheese
steaks at an airport in Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
So Maris said no to the Hulk Cogan Superstore.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, now, I wish I would have went in there.
They had good deals too. I looked online.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Yeah, there's gonna be a lot of like you know,
radio stations and shows like this playing real American Yeah,
and then like you know what you're gonna do, and yeah,
brother Grim Reaper comes to you. The stuff like that,
there's gonna be a lot of that coming down.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
And it is. We're gonna spend a lot of time
over the next three hours, obviously talking about what's going
on in Bengals training, prayers, vitamins. It is worth noting
that this Python there's there's some conversation going on around Honeysuarez.
There is now I would run to the table for
Suarez to come back to the Cincinnati Reds, but there
(03:33):
is at least and this is something we've talked about,
the Reds leading the league in there's at least conversations happening.
There's at least tires being kicked right now as it
pertains to Suarez.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
So Austin, tell me what you think. So Cea Trent
Rosecrant supported last night that there's interest and wrote a
pretty good piece kind of outlining here are some of
the guys they might have to move on from, and
that's great. I think bigger news would be if the
Reds were not interested in now you Hanio Suarez. That's
the story, right, And there's a part of me that
wonders like, well, we let everybody know we're interested, and
(04:03):
then if we don't get him, well, you know, Hey,
we were interested, Like, let's make sure people know. So
I'm more interested in do they get them? Because which
contending team is not interested in a guy who's got
thirty six home runs?
Speaker 4 (04:14):
To me, the keyword was mutual interest, Like the Diamondbacks
are interested in some of the prospects that the Reds have,
which is young, controllable pitching, and I have no problem
moving around or moving on from some of those young arms,
like a Chase Petty for example. So yeah, And he
also wrote about the idea of giving Suarez a one
to two year extension or I saw that somewhere. That's
(04:37):
how it makes the most sense. I don't know how
those things necessarily get worked out, but Suarez went out
of his way to talk about how much he loves Cincinnati,
how much his daughter still loves Cincinnati and roots for
the Reds when they came to Cincinnati earlier this year.
So I think it makes a lot of sense. And
with the amount of pitching that you know the Reds
have in the system, Okay, let's see what happens.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
And it's it's worth mentioning because Suarez has been talked
about a lot. Apparently their best prospects at the third basement.
They're looking to make room for him. The d Backs
just got swept at home by the Houston Astros, which
I think crystallizes their position three hundred five hundred. They're
gonna be sellers. Uh, and so I guess that's good
news for me. It's like, are you interested? Yes? Are
you interested enough to jump to the front of the
(05:21):
line and trade for him right now?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Like, that's how many games till the deadline?
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Six? They play six games between now and the trade deadline?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
What if they go four and two, five and one then?
Speaker 4 (05:34):
But six games gives really good teams by the way, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Could they do anything over the next six that say
I'm out?
Speaker 3 (05:39):
I think if they were to lose the next six games,
that sort of thing. But like why three and three
years right? Why can't you trade for him by tomorrow night?
Speaker 5 (05:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (05:47):
So to me, it's like, are are you interested?
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Are you interested enough to be aggressive? It's like I'm
interested in that girl, but are you interested enough to
like walk up to her and ask for her phone number?
Speaker 6 (05:56):
Right?
Speaker 3 (05:56):
So, like be aggressive and go do it now? You guys?
Would it be put Marte in right field?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I mean, Austin says all the time, the aggressive pursuit
of a championship correct, and that could fare to both
sides we're talking about today. Would bringing eu Henni Osuarez
show that this team is actively pursuing a championship? Yes?
Would signing No a Fan today if you're the Bengals
signify that you're trying even harder to win a championship.
(06:24):
I would say the answer to both is yes, that's
what you're trying to do from a front office standpoint
to a locker room standpoint. And look, I tied this
into all sports when Emilio Pagan came out after the
All Star breaking the post came interview and said, we're
trying to do all we can so that the front
office has to go out and get something. I mean,
that tells you all you need to know about the
locker room. They're sitting there waiting. There are probably a
(06:46):
lot of players in this Bengals locker room sitting here
today saying did we get no A fan or anything
else happening with Trey. They're paying attention because that stuff
whereverberates do the locker room. So I think both things
can hold true, especially as we see here with the
Reds and Bengals right down the street from each.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Other, and I'm sure the players in the clubhouse also
kind of look around and like, I don't know how
long Terry Francone is going to be the coach of
this team. I don't know how long he's going to
be the manager. That has to be in the back
of the mind of the Reds too, because this dude
did have to step away for health problems, and everything
seems like he's healthy. That's fine, but also he's getting
up there in age. He's not going to be the
manager forever. You don't have that much time to wait around.
(07:23):
At least clock is sticking. If not now, then win
should be the question the Reds are asking themselves.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
If there's a lesson from two years ago, you know,
two years ago, it was, well, you know, they're ahead
of schedule, they'll be fine, don't don't go and do anything.
And then what happened next year? Yeah, you know what
happened last year? So contention picks you and you could say, well,
you know, they've been hovering around five hundred all season long, okay, well,
(07:50):
and yet they're still in the mix. Baseball's really watered
down the Padres of a good team. It doesn't look
like they're equipped to run away from the Reds. Make
Saint Louis is the same thing San Francisco And I'm sure,
and maybe the Cardinals are a little bit different, but
I'm sure those teams would be interested in a Juhanio Soarez.
Now where would they put him? The Padres had Manny Machado,
(08:10):
but still like, do they want to bat like that?
Of course, beat them to the punch. Why do you
have to wait till July thirty?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
First, it's unique in this city right now to have
young superstar talent that the conversation around both as what
don't waste it? Right, don't waste Elli de la Cruz Prime,
don't waste the Joe Burrow Super Bowl window. We're having
the same conversations about both organizations here in Cincinnati. Which
organization right now is easier to fix? Which organization is
(08:38):
closer to a championship. It's the place we're sitting today, Yes,
it's the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, different sports, Right, they have a Joe Burrow who Right,
Trump's a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
But you're you're you're having the same conversation of when
things go poorly, it's what and I hope they don't
waste eli And when the Bengals go poorly last year,
what was it we just wasted that year from Joe Burrow?
Another year of Joe Burrow's prime, another year of the
Super Bowl window.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
I had that thought yesterday, Burrow walking onto the field
and the Bengals post the video. It's year six, year
six already of Joe Burrow. Like, think about that.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Nacle. Yeah, he took you to the to the near top.
But what's happened since then? A couple of steps back?
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Well, it's it's year six of Joe Burrow and it's
year seven of Zach Taylor. I mean, it feels like
they just moved on from Marvin Lewis. Yesterday it's year
seven of Zach Taylor. But we've taught we always used
the word urgency, like with this team this year, you
can go, well, you know, Joe Burrow is signed for
the rest of the decade. All well and good, so
(09:42):
is Ellie de la Cruz. And we're already talking about,
you know, clock ticking for Elliott's ticking for Joe. I've
referenced this a bunch I think there's only a handful
of quarterbacks who have won their first Super Bowl after
their eighth season. So if the Bengals are going to
win one with Joe Burrow as the quarterback, it's more
likely to have happened in this season twenty five, twenty six,
(10:02):
or twenty seven. Then further down the road, especially with
the core of guys they have in place at the
wide receiver spot. So there's an insane amount of urgency.
I guess what I wonder is if the Bengals fall
short of that, what's the fallout? Right?
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Like, I don't know that there's gonna be a dramatic
ton of fall a dramatic amount of fallout off the
Reds fall short of just making the postseason with the Bengals,
if the end result this year is the same as
last year, what's the fallout?
Speaker 2 (10:32):
It's a major one. And I do think as hard
as it is to tell through two days, and we
talked about this a lot Austin, of how can you
really tell what the new offseason plan is or how
they're going to start faster? They've been out here a
heck of a lot longer the first two days of
training camp than they have in any years past. Yeah,
I mean it's it's twelve minutes after the hour here
and they're still out here signing.
Speaker 4 (10:53):
And today was supposed to be the day that the
morning practices were supposed to you know, cool it off
a little bit, maybe help you focus. But today the
story seems to be the heat actually had an effect
on practice on a couple of players. And that's good too,
to go through that early on in practice.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
Yeah, there is there's a lot, a lot that this
team is working to get done. There's a lot of
pieces that they obviously have to add. We'll talk about
all those pieces as we go over the next three hours.
We have the Race Saint Claire Roofing hotline that'll be open.
We'll do talkbacks again today.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Can I ask just one more question as it relates
to how much of an upset is it that Rick
Flair is still with us?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
That you could have probably got that at plus seven fifty.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
I really just saw a tweet that said that whatever.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Like every time a rock and roll yeah artist, like
it's like man Keith Richards outlisted outlasted. The wrestling version
of that is.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Rick Flair, Right, Yeah, Rick's still going do you guys
believe in that they go in three's thing. Because Ozzie
just passed and now haul Cob, I better be careful.
It's a scary thought.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Now. I also wanted to get your thought often because
we have a minute here, and we talked about this yesterday,
we talked earlier this morning. Jeremy Row, we're all a
fan of MS showed up today and hey, dudes with
black socks underneath. And I don't know that I've ever
(12:22):
been more shocked by something because I hold Jeremy to
a high standard and seeing that today and his response
was the sweat ratio from sock to shoe and different
stuff like that. What's your immediate thought when you hear
something of a guy like Jeremy.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Row disgusting, frustrating, disappointing, you know, I mean, this is
a guy who is supposed to be one of the
best in the business, and while professionally he might be,
that takes away from what he does on camera because
of knowing the person he is off camera. And you know,
Jeremy posts a great video today of Joe Burrow making
(12:59):
a wonderful throat to Jamar chasing seven on seven, And
I said, you know, even though Jeremy is wearing hay
dudes with socks. So I'm gonna retweet this video. That's
how good of a throw it is. Ya, So maybe
Joe Burrow can bridge the gap here about that. And
you know, Jeremy tried to save face and say they're
scarlet and gray, trying to say, you know, Ohio State
am so listen, pal, that is amazing blue level level
(13:20):
one violation that you have committed with hey dudes and socks.
And you know, to all the people out there that
may be offended by us talking about hey dudes, I'm sorry,
but not really not.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Really know what you need to do.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I'm the first to admit I'm a poor dresser. I
don't really care. That's not true. You say that all
the time, but that's not true.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Yeah, it's very kind of a pebble beach shirt on today.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
So I guess that the two things I would say
about Jeremy. Number one, he has appeared on television in the.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Outfit. Yes, that's true.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Also on this radio station we have played his rap songs.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
So this is a guy who really just doesn't care.
I mean, so I sort of give him credit. He's
like dude, I'm gonna go on TV dressing Reynolds wrap
let Mo and Tony. You know this is years ago,
play like his rap songs when he was trying to
be a rapper?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Can he surpass his colleague as Ohio sportscaster of the
year with hey dudes on the resume?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
I'm gonna guess no.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Wasn't he at the center of a skyline, chili cut
or twirl argument years ago as well?
Speaker 2 (14:18):
It shouldn't be.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
It seems to be something that's coming up in my memory.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
I just you know, Fox nineteen is an esteemed news operation,
Tricia Mackie, Joe danim and it's where Dan Horde used
to be on television. That is a that is a cherished,
revered news operation. And I don't know that Jeremy's outfit
today lived.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Up to that. Fair I'll tell you what did live
up to the billion today, the offense from the Cincinnati Bengals,
bouncing back after the defense won yesterday. Offense clearly the
winners today. We'll talk a little bit more about that
when we come back. We're live here at a Bengals
training camp. Thanks to AE door and window. Also thanks
to TOFE that is five one three five one three
t o p H and Oakley Greens. Now Here we
(15:02):
are from the Airport paint Body Broadcast area on if
you're calling in today the race Saint Clair roofing the
hotline at sinty three to sixty back next on the
home of the Bengals, the ESPN fifteen to thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Now your chance to win at the.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
All right. Welcome back since three sixty live down Air
Training gamp thanks to a door and window where they
sell the best and service the rest our number one.
Thank you the service of Skyline Chili. Today, Mo Austin
is with us. We are. We were looking at how
(15:38):
the offense would bounce back because they got beat yesterday.
According to Joe Burrow, every person that I talked to
that walked by today said the offense dominated today.
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Good.
Speaker 2 (15:49):
I saw a throw today with more velocity from Joe
Burrow than I've ever seen him throw. I think we
see the peak. We know what the ceiling is for
the offense when you hear something like that. And most
of the videos I saw to there were a couple
tight window throws. There were some videos where guys were
running free when you hear something like that of a
(16:11):
dominant performance this early in camp. Are you thinking more
on the long the lines of love that for the
offense or do you think more on the lines of
not really feeling good about that for the defense.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
It tells me the offense had a day that lived
up to its potential. This offense should cook this. Look,
everybody wants the Bengals defense to be better. There's certainly
a roadmap that we could follow where that happens. We'll
put a lot of faith in Al Golden But when
you think of this, the identity of this team is
Joe Burrow in the offense, and it's how difficult they
are to prepare for, how difficult they are to defend,
(16:45):
all the different weaponry they have, all the different options
they have. If that were to not show up the
majority of the time in training camp, I think that'd
be a story.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
I expect most days the offense to win because the
offense is elite, or at least has the potential to
be elite. Saying that about the defense, we're saying best
case league average. So if on a daily basis, league
best versus league average goes head to head, my money's
on League best awesome.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
If you're taking a day like today, offense dominant, is it? Yes,
that's what they should be every day or more questions.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
On defense, Yes, that's what they should be every day,
and more than anything, rebounding from a bad practice yesterday
that you know, you guys were referring to it earlier.
Of like, you know, all off season we've talked about
how good the offense is going to be and then
they kind of get punched in the mouth on day
one of training camp that you know, tells me, Okay,
they woke up, they realized, okay, you know, we have
(17:39):
some things that we've got to fix, We've got to
clean up. Burrow set the tone in this press conference
and kind of talked about it. And so instead of
you know, feeling sorry for themselves or just kind of
running out there doing the same things they did yesterday,
they found a way to get better from day one
to day too. They responded from a bad practice to
a good practice, and the pendulum swings back and forth
every year during training camp. Defense wins a day, offense
(18:02):
wins a day, defense wins two days, offense wins a week.
Like it happens all the time.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
I think it's interesting because we talk so much about
what can they get out of these defensive players. The
first litmus test to that is a day where you
get punched in the mouth. Because we mentioned earlier they
are our golden is standing so far away that they're
not coaching after every play. But now to kind of
go behind the scenes, what's gonna happen. These guys are
(18:29):
gonna go in, they're gonna shower, they're gonna eat, and
then they're gonna go watch tape from today's practice. If
you're a young player, the best way that you can
get on the field moving forward is to not make
the same mistakes twice. So if you're al Golden today,
are you're any defensive coach, you watch the film, you
teach from it, and then tomorrow when you're presented with
(18:51):
that opportunity, do you correct it or do you make
the same mistake. Because the coaching s to have is
sitting back and saying, Okay, this guy's coachable. They may
be a adjustments, let's build more into him. Or this
is two or three days in a row, this guy's
making the same mistakes. We got to start giving someone
else reps. So now that's kind of where the back
and forth goes of winning days and losing days. Now
(19:14):
the real coaching starts for Al Golden because it's easy
to come in after one day and Joe Burrow says,
defense beat us to feel good. Yeah, it's another thing
to get torched. And now I have to come back
out and say, well, okay, how can we address what
we did wrong? And who can we rely on to
make sure it doesn't happening.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Last year's defense didn't bounce back. It allowed things to
snowball just from game to game. Right, So today I
want to know tomorrow do you bounce back or you know,
if we're sitting here in a week or in a
few days, and the narrative continues like, boy, the Bengals
offense is just cooking against this defense and torching them. Well,
that tells me they're having a hard time bouncing back
last year's defense, you know. Just the primary example to
(19:52):
me is Week three against Washington, where Joe kept scoring
touchdowns and the defense had no response, couldn't get off
the field, couldn't get stops. It'll out things to snowball.
Does it bounce back? This defense is gonna get beaten.
The times they're not gonna be They're not gonna be great. Okay,
this if you're holding out hope it's a top five defense,
I'm sorry, that's probably not gonna happen. So when they
(20:14):
give up an early score, or when they give up
a lead, or when they give up a huge play,
when there's some sort of sudden change because something happens
with the defense, does this unit bounce back? Maybe tomorrow
tells us something about that answer.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
And last season the Bengals, you know, they kicked everybody's
but offensively, I mean, Jamar Chase had the Triple Crown,
and they were just scoring points left and right. It
didn't matter what defense they faced, really, And so I
think if you're out golden, you can kind of take
that as a teaching point of like, hey, don't forget
these guys are really really good. This is the best
offense you're going to face all season long. And you can,
(20:45):
you know, use that as a teaching point because if
they come out and they play really good two three
days in a row, okay, that's one thing, but it's like, oh,
here's how I messed up against a really good wide receiver.
How can I fix it? Here's where the coverage went
wrong against this type of concept, how to fix it
like it is a learning period, a teaching point for
them as well when they screw up.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
I think some of the hardest things in the game
of football one from a position standpoint, outside of quarterback,
I think corner is the hardest position to play. You're
on an island most of the time, you have no
idea what the player is going to do, and you
got to react to it. I think that's hard. What
I think is increasingly more difficult is the mental side
of the game when things don't go your way. You
(21:26):
see this with quarterbacks. At times, you throw one interception,
it leads to two, it leads to three because things snowball.
And I listened once to Peyton Manning talk he actually
he was at UC with like my first year at UC,
and I remember him talking about the role of a quarterback.
You can't get too high. You can't get too low,
because if you're too low, then things snowball in a
(21:47):
bad way. If you throw a touchdown and you're so excited,
you get back out on the field and you may
overthrow a pass that gets intercepted because you're running too high.
I think it's so difficult to not let one or
two bad things carry over into more Like how many
times last year was the offense cooking and we had
the same the conversation of, man, can they just get
(22:07):
one stop and get the offense the ball back? Things
snowballed so poorly last year, to whereas Al Golden can say, hey,
we're gonna get beat at times, but if we can
start every series new with the same mentality, maybe that
doesn't avalanche as much as it did last year. Because
again Al Golden knows as much as everyone else, if
you can get a couple punts from the other team
(22:30):
in a game, you're gonna have a good chance to
win because you're getting number nine the ball back. Right,
it's the idea of don't let that one bad series
turn into two, turn into three, and next thing you know,
the Baltimore Ravens have scored on four straight possessions the
Washington Commanders because it's snowballed for you. So the mental
side of it, I think is just as key now
for this young defense to bounce back on a day
(22:52):
like tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
And I'm sure for Al Golden it's like, all right,
our you had a good day yesterday, But I need
a bad day because I need I need some teaching point.
M h You know, I need to get into the
meeting with these guys, and I need to put up
the film and practice and I need I need the
opportunity to show here's the stuff we have to correct.
You know, you hear coaches talk about that all the time,
teaching points, and you know you hate to say, well,
(23:13):
you know, you need to lose in order to learn.
I think that's stupid. But I think for a new
defensive coordinator with a lot of unproven guys, to a degree,
almost the worst thing you want is for your defense
to have like four or five consecutive great days and then.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Especially against an offense like this, you.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Know, sort of dilutes what I'm trying to teach. Now,
it's a little bit easier, perhaps to hammer some stuff
home when you've had a day like that.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
I think if you're out golden and I don't know
if you tell your players this, but how much of
a blessing is it to go against this offense every day?
Because you're gonna go whooped? Mm hmm. But there are
not many games you'll play during the regular season where
you'll face more talent offensively than what the Bengals have,
(23:54):
maybe different schemes, maybe a team that runs it more,
maybe a team that's play action more, maybe av to
back like Lamar Jackson. That gives you different angles. But
when you go up against this offense every day, you
go into camp knowing you're gonna lose more than you win.
But what can you learn from the losses and what
can you take from a confidence standpoint knowing that things
(24:17):
are are going to get easier with most of the
offenses you play against. I think that I think that
dynamic for Al Golden because that's not easy. These guys
are professionals, and for many of them they were the
most dominant player on their teams. It's hard to come
in and just get your face beat in. That gets
hard today, I'm sure for DJ Turner, Tam T Higgins
(24:38):
run by him like that. But you come back and say, well,
it's one of the top ten wide receivers in the NFL.
Jamar Chase, Well, Joe Burrow just fit a ball. And
that's how difficult is that if you're Al Golden to
go and teach and say you did wrong here, and
they completed the pass Logan Wilson, you're in the right spot.
Cam Taylor Britt, you're in the right spot. That throw
beat us like you don't get that lot in the NFL.
(25:00):
You stay in those spots, You're gonna make plays happen.
But it's just I think it's such a it's a
unique opportunity. Mentioned it yesterday. The iron sharpens irons one
verse one's. I would do it as much as possible
with this this defensive unit. We gotta get a break.
We are here at a Bengals training camp today thanks
to our friends at AE Door and Window where they

today informed me that he's heading out to after this segment.
What do you do between now and three o'clock? Let
(26:37):

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Yeah, maybe you stop by and pick up a sandwich
at the Holy Grail and you bring back you one
real quick wow. Uh, then go back and prepare for
the radio show and get ready for three o'clock.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
Yeah, it's gonna be big. We have Jordan Crawford on today,
nice big three former Xavier player.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Huge.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, it's gonna be big.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
That's big time stuff. It's huge. We saw walking over here, Yeah,
signing autographs today. It was Yoshivash yesterday. Demetrius Knight spent
some time with the fans today.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
What should the expectation for Demetrius Knight be this year?
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Be the second best linebacker on the team.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Okay, why not? And how much pressure does then fall
on Logan Wilson Because Logan Wilson's career trajectory was skyrocketing
and it feels like it's kind of leveled out a
little bit, he said, to deal with some injuries. How
much of a bounce back does he have? How much
does Oren Burks add? How much does Demetrius Knight as
a rookie ad Because you know, we talked about how
(27:35):
bad this team was against the run last year. Well,
if you improve your front, which I think the Bengals
did against the run, that would lead to more tackling
opportunities to fill the gap for the linebacking corps that
now loses Jermaine Pratt, Anakim Davis Gaither. I'm interested to
see what that position looks like with a rookie in
Demetrius Knight.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
I think Al Golden would say there's a ton of
pressure on Logan Wilson. Answer this for me, you know,
because you schematically certainly are more qualified than Austin. Don't
take offense either of us when you when when we
hear that, Al Golden emphasizes linebackers, which is something I've
never heard anybody say about any Bengals defensive coordinator ever,
what does that.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Mean how he's trying to utilize them. You know, people
think linebackers of downhill tacklers. A lot of times in
systems they're going to be used in the blitz for
our golden other times they're going to be asked to
fill in between the tackles. And then you're also going
to be asked to move sideline to sideline. If you
remember watching it all Notre Dame, their linebacking corps flew
(28:34):
around the field sideline to sideline and the interior part
of that line. So you're going to be asked to
do literally everything for the defense, cover move sideline to sideline,
and also have to do that tough stuff, which is
fill that a gap, which is you know, for hard
lineback for hard for linebackers. And in today's NFL, and
we equated this a little bit to the idea of
(28:55):
Noah Fan here in Cincinnati, you almost have to be
a U corn to be able to fill a gap,
but also be talented enough to cover a tight end
or a slot wide receiver in a zone type coverage
or a man coverage look. So I think he's asking
him to do everything to be the run guy, to
be the pass defender, to move sideline to sideline. Linebackers
(29:18):
are making sure as well that everyone's lined up in
the right spot, especially up front, making sure the calls
are there. A lot of times, Logan Wilson is setting
the strong side based on what the other team is doing,
so tight end to the left, he's setting strong side
to the left, and vice versa. So you're making the calls,
but you're also literally encompassing everything you have to do.
There are coverage specialists in the secondary, and there are
(29:42):
run specialists in the secondary. There are run stoppers on
the defensive line, and there are guys that get after
the passer. Linebackers are kind of being asked to be
all of that for Al Golden.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
And Logan Wilson was heavily on one of those. Last year.
His PFF grade was a ninety, which is elite against
the run last year seventh out of one hundred and
eighty nine linebackers in the NFL. Obviously, a season got
cut short, but when it comes to coverage, he had
a fifty seven grade and that's where he was. It's
kind of flipped because the early part of the story
(30:13):
of his career intercepting passes, covering tight ends, getting into
those pass lanes, and so I think that's interesting. How
does that shift under Al Golden? Is he more of
a run defender because Demetrius Knight Junior and Barrett Carter
have proven to have the athleticism and the speed to
go sideline to sideline and maybe be a little bit
more involved in the pass coverage. Because if you go
(30:35):
back to last year and again, you know, Logan Wilson
had only one seven hundred and forty three total snaps
on the season, but just three hundred and seventy one
of those were coverage snaps. So there was a point
where it's like, Okay, he's not helping us very much
in coverage snaps, and other teams, you know, would run
the ball a little bit more against the Bengals because
they couldn't stop it. But I think that's notable that
(30:55):
the last season was kind of a flip of the
script from what we've used to see from Logan Wilson.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Yeah, I think one of the you mentioned the reasons
why he to me becomes one of the most interesting
players we haven't talked much about if he comes back
from injury and he's the Logan Wilson we saw rising, Yeah,
that's a big health What if it's a Logan Wilson
that struggles on this defense that is already void of
a lot of star players. Sure, that becomes a completely
(31:23):
different conversation that you have to have.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
I think you look at him as like the foundational
piece because Al Golden has coached him before, specifically, he
is at a stage in his career where he's very
well established. Al Golden wants to emphasize linebacker like he's
the foundational piece. There are so many unknowns elsewhere. Well,
if the foundation crumbles, then everything else collapses. Might not
(31:46):
be the best analogy, but that's kind of how I
view it. Like does he have to play at an
all pro caliber level? No, right, but he's he's got
to fit what Al Golden is looking for if the
Al Golden defense is gonna work. And I would be
willing to bet that Al Goldon would say exactly that, like, yeah, man,
you know, we need our defensive line to be better,
and we acquired TJ. Slayton for a specific reason, and
(32:07):
it'd be cool if we had our first round pick here,
and if Trey Hendrickson gets after the quarterback, and we've
obviously got a lot to figure out of the secondary.
But if you're gonna base your defense on this one
position and this is your best returning guy and he
doesn't have a very good season, then the defense can't
take off.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
In all your years of being a fan of the
Bengals and covering the Bengals, do you ever remember more
unknowns about a pacific unit like the the defense as
a whole. Everything we talk about with the defense is
hoping that this player comes back, or hoping this player
takes a step, or hoping now Golden can mix into something.
By the way, reports coming out, Miles Murphy left with
(32:45):
just cramps today, So that's obviously good news that came
from Miles Murphy before Teles Murphy himself. But I feel
like every position and every player we talk about on
defense comes with an if or a butt. Do you
ever remember it like that or is it just the
pressure of how good the offense is and the Super
Bowl window that they have to be that? Yeah, but
(33:06):
it feels like every discussion we have is banking on
hope or if. When you talk about a player.
Speaker 3 (33:13):
I think it's it's it's the most amount of questions
for one side of the ball on a team that
is still being talked about as a championship contender. Now
I step back from that a little bit because until
I see market improvement from the defense, it's hard to
talk about them in championship terms. But because of the
like the Bengals have had some truly awful teams where
(33:34):
you're like number one, like going into training camp, who's
gonna make it, who's gonna start, Who's you know, we're
not doing that. They've had a lot of teams where
it's like I just don't know about this team as
a whole, this unit as a whole, I don't know
about the quarterback. They've never had anything like this where
you go, you know what, this defense, this offense could
be the best in the sport and the defense could
(33:55):
be the worst in the sport. Yeah, I don't think
that's gonna happen, but it's on the table because they
were close to the worst in the sport last year.
I brought this up yesterday and I'll say the same
thing and Austin, if you want to expand upon it,
like everybody talks about, well, they gotta be league average.
Fine in the fourth quarter, I need you need to stop,
you know, in any of those games last year where
it's like, all right, Joe Burrow has put up thirty five,
(34:19):
other guys got thirty one, but they've got the ball.
Can Al Golden's team, even if they've been cooked all
day long? Can they get off the field? Can they
get a stop? Can they get a turnover? And we're
not gonna know until we know. We're not gonna know
until they actually start playing real games. That's what I
want to know more than anything, Not how many more
sacks are they gonna get, which is obviously important, not
even how many more turnovers are they gonna get, which
(34:40):
is important the fourth quarter? Can they get stopped? Last
year the answer was.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Not, yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:44):
And on top of that, how do they evolve from
you know, opponent to opponent, Because there's been a lot
talked about how often they're going to blitz under Al Golden,
they expect to blitz more, and we know that some
quarterbacks they thrive under the blitz. Joe Burrow is an
example of that, Like teams don't want to blitz him,
so you know, we kind of talked about how things
(35:04):
with Loui a Rimo got too complicated towards the end,
maybe a little bit too exotic with the defensive pressures
and the hiding of the coverages and all that. Can
you be simple yet flexible in your defense and especially
against going up against certain types of quarterbacks, certain types
of offenses, certain type of concepts that you know in
(35:25):
those big moments, Can your base defense get you a
stop and get you off the field and just give
Joe Burrow two more possessions a game? Like it could
almost be that simple, Get Joe Burrow two more possessions
a game. You keep going back to the Commander's game.
I mean Jayden and Daniels pitched a perfect game that day.
I mean didn't get off the field one time. One
stop changes that game and changes the season.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
Yeah, do you at any point you know it's training
camp moves on to you pick up the phone and
call the Cowboys and maybe make a reunion with Nick
Vigil to add to the linebacking corps.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
I can't believe if he's still playing.
Speaker 2 (36:02):
Mardy had to look it up while you were talking
about team he's with. He's with the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Do we know who this is running laps around the field, right,
Mike Browning for us, definitely not.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
I spent a lot of time standing off the golf
cart today, though he did.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
I don't know there there's a guy I don't know who.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Here's the thing about training camp, uh huh. A lot
of hard guys out here, like a lot of a
lot of guys that are tougher than anybody else. And sure,
so you know what what do you what terms you
used for Trey Henderson earlier?
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Captain? Want to be captain? Want to be it's eighty
It says it's eighty nine degrees right now.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
It feels like it's they don't have a jersey left.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Everybody else it's it's a this is a staffer every No,
it's not Darren Son out here chipping golf bar. So
there is a guy. He is dressed head to toe
in black with a long sleeve black shirt on a
long sleeve black pants, Bengals branded, and he is literally
running laps around all the field. So there's two fields here.
He has to be doing that for our benefit.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I don't understand it.
Speaker 3 (36:57):
He has to be doing that like.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Every year, coaches during training camp will were like long sleeves,
and I'm like, why, yeah, I don't care, what are
we doing? But to come out here, we're now we're
we're peak heat afternoon here. Well, he's not just running
around one field. He's now on the practice fields, running
around those. And it's one thing like if you're gonna
run out here shorts, T shirt, maybe you got a
(37:21):
tank on. You're in your head to toe long sleeve,
long pants heat.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
I assume works for the Bengals, which means he works
for a place that has a state of the art
workout facility. It's an NFL team. I think this is eyewas.
I think this is all right. I think he's doing
that for our benefit.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Isn't he gonna come right by you guys if he's
going around all the because.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
He's like slow, he ran over to Queen's Gate real quick.
Here here he comes in. I mean, look look at it,
and it's he's running at a nice a nice pace.
It's it's a light, it's a jog. It's not he's
not like a full board sprint. I just did he
lose a bet?
Speaker 2 (37:58):
I can figure out who that is.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
I sometimes being in the heat helps maybe he's training.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
At the face, but what is he training for? You
know this, he's not I know this for a fact.
He's not a position coach on this team. No, that's
what I do know.
Speaker 4 (38:15):
And so he probably has an hour right now to
get his work in, get a workout in before he
has more responsibilities going into meetings.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
And he looks like he's got buds and I think
he's listening.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
What do you think he's listening? Could be if you're
listening to us right now, run faster. Nothing not a
change in the gate at all.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
I admire it, kind of.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
I don't that that. That's one of the things that
drives me absolutely nuts on a team.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Oh, that is such a weird thing to be upset about.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
The guy's just getting.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Some work in. I just I feel like this is
he is hoping that. Like we have a camera, Yeah,
and you know, hey, check out this guy getting his
work in. It's it's his lunch hour.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
That's the ESPN fifteen thirty staff.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
The grind doesn't stop. Yeah, good luck, man, I hope
it works out.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
I'm gonna use this commercial break to figure out who
that is. You're gonna use this commercial break from what
I understand to go pick me up lunch. You guys
should go take a lap much fans? Could you take
a lap? How long would it take you to make
one lap around?
Speaker 9 (39:19):
Like?
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Could you get back here, dude? Over the course of
a break.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
By the time I ran to that corner, I'd be
standing behind Hule Cogan at the Pearly Gates holster something
man like. I couldn't. I couldn't. I couldn't know.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
I couldn't do that, all right, But we will get
some routes in one day.
Speaker 3 (39:37):
One day, we'll we'll do you think we get yelled at?
I was already told I can't smoke a cigar here.
Do you think if we once camp is over, decided
to I don't.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Think there's anything wrong with running a couple of routes,
all right.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
But the guy, our guy is now walking. He has
slowed his pace down.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
Yeah, took the hat off. That's probably dripping with hard
man Tony.
Speaker 4 (39:59):
Remember I said I'm going to get into running. I started.
I did like a four week program. Yesterday I had
a forty two minute long run that I had to
do and I tried really hard. Now it was the
only time in the whole four weeks where I had
to stop and walk because it was so brutally hot
last night, and I was disappointed that I stopped and walked,
(40:20):
but at least I finished strong. So shout out to
this guy.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Man.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
So, when I was in high school with a cross
country coach asked if I wanted to run, and I said,
you know, I played basketball and we already run a lot. Yeah,
we run more than we should. We run more than
we actually practice now for punishment, and I said, like,
so as part of cross country practice, do we intermittently
play basketball? And he's like no, I'm like, mind playing?
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Smart?
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Good, that's fair, that's fair. This gentleman is not a
offensive or defensive coach, nor is he a strength coach.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
I'm not even sure he works for the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (40:53):
We're going to take a break from so late.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
What you should do is, if he's doing this tomorrow,
bring that football as he runs by, go d throw
him one.
Speaker 2 (41:02):
Well, now, so now he just stopped and he's looking
at his phone. Could he have been alerted that we
are talking about him right now?
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Yeah, And the happiest man in America is Jeremy Row.
We're no longer talking about it sucks.

Don't let this be the time that your home is
without air conditioning. And if you'll wait till it's too late,
you're gonna put yourself in an opportunity that you're going
to face a lot of heat over the next coming weeks,
whether it is getting the unit completely replaced or just
getting a tune up that's gonna allow it to run properly.
(41:55):
Make sure your home is operating at full strength and
with the heat is often going to bring a lot

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Can I do a Revived Systems poll question update?
Speaker 2 (43:08):
That's what I was just thinking.
Speaker 4 (43:09):
Oh okay, sorry, Revive Fitnessystems dot Com coach PJ. Street.
Should the Bengals sign no a fan?
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Yes or no?
Speaker 4 (43:18):
We have more important stuff to worry about. Seventy six
percent say yes, yeah, you can vote.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
That that that was the immediate thing. Yesterday it was well,
the Bengals are going to bring in No A Fan.
And yet some people that were like, yes, make it happen.
That's me. Others are like, will you have so many
holes on the roster that you need to fill before that?
It's possible to do both. Yes, but again it's very
simple for me. Does No A Fan make this team
(43:48):
better today? I would think so, yep, then you sign them,
or you at least try to sign them.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
From a like statistical standpoint, his blocking is not at
the level you would want, but his frame, his size,
like you feel like you could still maybe get something
out of that. And if he's able to at all
fill some sort of the role that Eric All was
supposed to be filling this year, that would give you
a little bit more flexibility on offense as well, and
(44:16):
just in general when he's on the field, he's more
of a receiving threat than Drew Sample is, to the
point where you have to pay a lot more attention
to him.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
At the very least if it doesn't pan out, you
bring him in on a one year deal. Yeah, and
then you get Eric All back the next year. Anyway,
it makes too much sense. I don't imagine that he
would be asking for a ton of money, but you know,
at the same time, you know, maybe he wants to
go and see what options are out there. I know
(44:48):
Jordan Schultz reported that he had multiple visits lined up,
but it's the Bengals to get the first crack at him.
It's one of those scenarios for me where you just
don't let the guy leave. Don't let him leave, don't
let him get out of the building. Make sure that
he is a Cincinnati Bengal as we go forward. Speaking
of going forward, Hour two is next Jamar Chase and

Welcome back our number two. We are at Bengals training camp.
Started here at ten am. We're still here. We're gonna
be here till three o'clock and then MO takes over
from three to six. Special thanks to AE Door and Window.
They all the best and service the rest. Also a
special thanks to Adam Weber for sponsoring our broadcast here
(46:05):
at Bengals training camp and all his continued support of
the Bengals all these many years. A couple things that
have happened today. The pro wrestling icon and legend Hault
Cogan passed away earlier today at the age of seventy one.
From an NFL standpoint, news Jets quarterback Justin Fields was
(46:29):
carted off the field earlier with a tow injury. It
has since been reported that that injury is not significant,
and from a Bengal standpoint, we saw today Miles Murphy
left practice on a cart. Miles Murphy confirmed after practice
with multiple members of the media that it was just
cramps for Miles Murphy today that's because it was hot
today Austin. It was hot tie at Bengals training camp,
(46:52):
and that is where things got started with Jamar Chase
as he spoke to the media after today's practice.
Speaker 12 (46:58):
No, my rookie year was pretty high. I didn't think
that high in sensive, but my rookie year's coming high. No,
it's more human back home. You ever thrown up in
the practice? No, in a workout before? Yeah, did you
see Josh? No, Josh who is big?
Speaker 13 (47:16):
No?
Speaker 12 (47:17):
No, I'm like, look, I don't even call them Josh,
we call them fig What do you see from everyone?
Race secondary?
Speaker 14 (47:23):
Yesterday? But that being what have you seeing them this year?
Speaker 12 (47:25):
Maybe this time Washington, this year just I don' won't
give too much of what our defense doing. But really
this year is just a lot of too high shell
a little more disguising than they did last year, a
lot more disguised than they did last year. So they
holding a little more. I think that's pretty I think
that's better for us looking at it on a daily
I think it's better for them to just get a
look against our offense. That's one of the best offenses
(47:48):
in the league.
Speaker 5 (47:49):
I know.
Speaker 15 (47:50):
Yesterday, it's just day one and this is just day two.
But I was it for the offense to bounce back
a little bit makes some place.
Speaker 12 (47:57):
I mean, your first day, we didn't really have much
of the offense, and you know, really the basics I
want to say. Today we got a little bit more
the offense, a lot more motion and a lot more disguise,
my disguise, little bit more set up schemes, and you
know that's that's that was really the difference from today
and yesterday. But I still think it's good to look
for the defense competition. Do you can I say something
(48:18):
about you? Though you got a lot of banana guns?
Would you that I would not put on that many bananas?
I mean you must be a banana guy, I'm assuming, right, okay?
From drift store? Yeah, supermarket?
Speaker 2 (48:37):
No you didn't? Yes?
Speaker 12 (48:40):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (48:42):
Did you know that people shopped that?
Speaker 16 (48:52):
Since the MIC's Pitts talking about Mike Petralia.
Speaker 12 (49:00):
Hey, man, if you like it, I love it, brother,
go ahead, go ahead? Who else are going.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
You ask?
Speaker 12 (49:14):
Back to your questions? Though I'm not saying it was
a lot going on. I looked at you because I've
been seeing it. I just didn't want to say nothing.
Rather word what friendly dat system. It's questions turn to talk.
I ain't gonna interrupt you, though, So go ahead. What
what do you get out of competition with really just
(49:40):
trying to get them better secondary wise on their schemes,
on me t on their signals, on holding the holding
the disguise more. You know, those three simple things will
make make the defense way much better on that secondary level.
It's unique about that. Obviously you're not going up against
(50:01):
him right now.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
I mean you have in the past.
Speaker 12 (50:02):
What's unique about his game? And it stood out who
we're talking about about about that's it's been a minute
and I actually faced but I mean, from what I remember,
it was just he was really really fast man, played
good through the ball, and he had makeup speed. You know,
(50:23):
those those things are good. You know, once he once
he comes back, comes back and gets more fluid at
the game, pick up what he left off. I think
he's gonna be real good for us.
Speaker 14 (50:34):
Did you feel any I don't know, pressure is the work,
but any.
Speaker 17 (50:39):
Energy to have a better practice offensively today after yesterday
was a little.
Speaker 12 (50:46):
Yeah, and no, I mean I went to jail after practice.
I ask him what he thought. I mean, I thought
we didn't do so well. But at the end of
the day, I mean, I told him, don't don't dwell
on it, because let he make two of those catches,
he wouldn't be suspeemed like that, you know what I'm saying.
So I mean, and also the offense wasn't really in,
So I'm like, don't get on yourself about something that
we really didn't put in. We put in a few
basic things, but you know, we could always excel throughout
(51:07):
the week. But as long as we learning and bounce
back from days like that, I think that's how we improve.
He's a hard critic on itself. I'm the same way,
and I need a person like myself to come to
meet That's what he does and lets me know, like
it's okay to mess up. But at the end of
the day, you still got to push yourself.
Speaker 13 (51:21):
Last year, you were practicing during this time and considering
how much you played this last season, how many touches
you get.
Speaker 12 (51:29):
Like, what is your word load management look like?
Speaker 14 (51:31):
In training care?
Speaker 12 (51:32):
It's not last black last year, tell you that. I mean,
I love to work. I'm a workaholic. I love to working.
Joe asks me the day in my tired, I'll say,
color play while I'm tired, you know what I'm saying,
Because at the end of the day, when it's full
quarter and I'm tired, then they're not gonna ask me,
am I tired? You know what I'm saying. And you know,
it's just all about how hard you can push yourself
(51:52):
at end of the day, especially the days like this.
So as long as you get one percent better each day,
that's how you're going to improve that you you say,
you know, was it just.
Speaker 16 (52:01):
Kind of throughoutre and basic, basic, solid, just getting back
into it.
Speaker 12 (52:07):
I mean today it was a little bit more of
moving me during the season, like moving me around and
reading the coverage, just a little more trying to plot
out what they're trying to do to me. So I
mean today was just a lot more of what we
usually do then yesterday. What do you think of practicing
I'm sorry, now you're good?
Speaker 18 (52:22):
Good?
Speaker 12 (52:23):
What do you think of practicing in the morning?
Speaker 19 (52:25):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (52:25):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 12 (52:27):
I get to eat after this and I got like
them near two hours. So I'm I'm not on special teams.
That's all I can say that. I mean, I feel
so for the guys who went special teams because they
transition really fast. But I still think it's still good though.
In the afternoons around like three four o'clock, I get
another energy burst and I'm back at it, So I
think it's good for us.
Speaker 20 (52:42):
How much did you miss this last year, obviously get
everything going on this how much you miss.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Being here at all?
Speaker 12 (52:48):
I'm being completely honest.
Speaker 14 (52:50):
I didn't.
Speaker 12 (52:50):
I didn't. I had great legs last year. Like I said,
I love to work. You know, at the end of
the day, I get to work on stuff that I
didn't work on last year and getting that real feel
from a dB and working on not saying everything, but
just working on certain things that I wanted to do
this year. I get a chance to do it in
camp now instead of just doing it in a game
that trade both A pros.
Speaker 20 (53:12):
I mean for guys that yall are y'all able to
go in and you know when you need a football
and you feel like it's a football quicker.
Speaker 12 (53:18):
I mean, as all pro you want to say that, yeah,
I mean it's the reason why you all prosend of
the day and one of the best in the league.
So you're supposed to have on and off switch and
all to do it and anything stand out about Andre? Yeah,
I mean Andre has been Andre's and proves every year honestly,
and I love what I see when he comes in
(53:38):
every year and he makes a difference for us. I
can't wait to see what he does again this year.
Hopefully it's way more than he did the past previous years.
What are you working on?
Speaker 2 (53:47):
Uh this year? Now you couldn't work.
Speaker 12 (53:50):
On if I just say it, I ain't saying that.
Where you started about getting the feel for the TVs? Yeah,
like hmmm mmm root question.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
H m hm.
Speaker 12 (54:05):
Really, let's just say like really getting the feel of
just how to how I want to set the dB
up for a blonde spot. Yeah, let's go one. I'm
just get one. Yeah, did you watch Quarterback? No, I've
just seen clips, but I'm gonna watch it probably when
is it over yet? Is it done? I don't know
(54:25):
why i'nna watching then, Honestly.
Speaker 14 (54:27):
What clips did you see? And do you have like
a favorite one?
Speaker 12 (54:30):
I'm only seeing the one when we were sitting at
the table in uh Orlando, So the only think I
really seen, but I already knew what we said in it.
So like I've seen the clip and then like left
it alone. Seems like those.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
Families are really tight.
Speaker 5 (54:43):
What kind of bond is that?
Speaker 20 (54:44):
Like when you have like almost you want to see
like in college and high school, but really you know
each other like that families are cool like that come
of impact?
Speaker 2 (54:52):
Does that?
Speaker 14 (54:52):
Maybe?
Speaker 20 (54:52):
How would y'all want to field on game day when
you'll have that kind of bar just you know, extended,
not just YouTube but everybody Y're like closer to it.
Speaker 12 (55:00):
I mean, for me, I don't really know how much
they know each other because at the end of the day,
they fund each other in the stands, So I mean,
I don't know what they're doing in the stands, but
you know, after the game, I used to see Joe's
dad and mom and or after the game, you know,
family and French section, and you know we say, hey, y'all,
hug him, me and a couple of his other family members,
and you know how we do it every year.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
There was a clip on there of you and Joe
talking about and play that he ran the ls around
an LSU for Jefferson, Like it was a.
Speaker 12 (55:28):
Cool moment between you guys, know the practice skill.
Speaker 2 (55:31):
How often does that happen? Is that like a daily thing?
Speaker 12 (55:33):
Where you guys reference far back and stuff like that. No,
if I'm being honest, no, we don't really do that
a lot. That's probably the first time we had a
route that we really just added into the offense that
was new. Knew that I was trying to like get
down because I never ran it. Now I think I
ran it part like twice and that was when I
got back last year. Hopefully were gonna bring it in
this camp here. But you know, it definitely helped when
(55:58):
he bring back something old like that, You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 20 (56:00):
So how much did you had you as the top
receiver this year in the annual survey?
Speaker 12 (56:04):
Did you catch a whole bunch yans? I think I
caught my raiding and I called Tad right away and
I told him this is the wrong rad what was
all about? It wasn't ninety nine? Fix it? I hope
he is. I mean, if you don't be mad at him.
So you said you ran that route twice, always referencing
(56:26):
in practice or do you run in the game. No,
in practice. When I when I came back to start practicing,
that's when I ran it.
Speaker 5 (56:32):
It.
Speaker 12 (56:32):
Never ran it again for real?
Speaker 16 (56:34):
How many times do you work on something new in
training camp tomorrow versus trying to refine what you all do.
Speaker 12 (56:41):
I try to work it against a certain look, So
certain looks I could work it on. I can't working
against cloud more like a man looked or three or
something like that. You know what I'm saying, A slot look.
So it's not really a lot of looks. Well, I
get that I need to work on it. So it's
when I see it, I have to immediately work on it.
When I see it.
Speaker 15 (56:58):
There's a report that is visiting and tight End former
tight end for the Seahawks. Do you do yourself now
at the stage of your career. Someone wants to chat
with someone visiting, does it's.
Speaker 12 (57:10):
I mean, I'm not a close person. I don't mind
talking a little bit. I mean, but I can only
say so much to him to make him come here.
You know, at the end of the day, it's not
his decision. Well, it might really be his decision, so
I mean, and then that he knows what we have here.
I know, I know he sees the schemes. I know
he might like the scheme. So I mean, that's why
(57:30):
you come take the visit.
Speaker 11 (57:31):
You know, what do you feel like the expectation for
you guys as a team should.
Speaker 5 (57:35):
Be this year.
Speaker 12 (57:37):
When the division first. So we do it all every
year when the first game, and that's how we gonna
make a mark.
Speaker 20 (57:45):
Looking for something similar in his contract that you got
and there's an exception, Why is that so important to.
Speaker 12 (57:51):
Get that in that deal?
Speaker 14 (57:53):
Comer maybe other other points.
Speaker 4 (57:55):
That you do.
Speaker 12 (57:57):
I'm pretty sure I don't really know much about what
it got going on in his situation because I'm not
in his situation anymore. But I'm sure everyone wants to
be treated the same, you know, And that's the hard
part with stuff like this. And at the end of
the day, it's not really him making a decision, So
I mean, I just wish the best for him. Man,
hope you pull it off.
Speaker 20 (58:18):
But why is why is parentee money in your two
always been that's a big thing for you?
Speaker 2 (58:22):
Why is that for a lot of guys?
Speaker 12 (58:23):
It is?
Speaker 21 (58:24):
Why is that so.
Speaker 20 (58:25):
Important money too, even if you're going to get good
cash for why is that so good to have that?
Speaker 12 (58:30):
How many players you don't get guaranteed in your two
My point speaking of contracts, and I know it's totally
different your practicing this year you were practicing last year,
but mentally does this training can't feel different? You feel
like a weight has been left. Yeah, I like that word.
I always say that. I mean, no, man, it's just
(58:55):
like like every year is a restart for us. Every
year is a restart.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
Every year.
Speaker 12 (58:59):
We got to find a way to get better. There's
always more guys coming in. That's that's hungrier, that's getting smarter,
getting faster, you know, and don't know way we can
do that is if you do the same thing and
try out smart everybody, get faster than everybody, and be
you know, better than everybody. And it's only so much
we could push ourselves, but we got to get the
ones around us to grow with us.
Speaker 16 (59:16):
Do you ever wonder what it'd be like this team
didn't have any superstar contracts lingering over it.
Speaker 12 (59:23):
Like you're really close drags. I mean, we still had
a twenty twenty one team be just like that, you know,
still the same guys here and all rightybody just trying
to pay football.
Speaker 17 (59:36):
Another question about the Netflix show, Like Joe's a guy
who keeps his home life pretty private most of the time,
but that show gave fans a real up close look
at his life.
Speaker 14 (59:45):
Off the field. What's the most interesting thing to you
about Joe off the field? That's just as a dude.
Speaker 12 (59:51):
He's very interested in fossils. I don't know why he
loves dinosaur toots and bones, and I don't know is
that a new thing for him or uh? I want
to say this past year, I really like found out
he liked stuff like that. You know what I'm saying.
You weren't with him at the he said he went
to the museum. I mean he told us like last year,
that's when he would tell us about stuff like that,
(01:00:12):
And you don't realize it until he talks us about
it more and more, browns you and he's like, you
must really like that, and then you somebody from the
muse Joey dude named Joey from the museum out here,
gave me a dinosaur tooth to give to him. And
I told him, somebody gave you this, and he was like,
you gave me this and he got really excited. So
like you know that that that the meaning of his face,
and you know it shows that he's still a kid.
(01:00:33):
Stuff like that, A dinosaur tooth. No, I'm a I'm
a game head. I go home and play the game.
That's my It was a dinosaur tooth, you said, that's
what I believe it. I was told, Yeah, I was huge.
It was a little about this big, about this big.
It's pretty big for a tooth. No, I'm tired of football.
(01:00:57):
After football, like, I want to go home and not
play football. Call of Duty two k TTA.
Speaker 16 (01:01:07):
From what you've seen of the defense through the OTAs
mini cams and two days of practice, do you think
it's going to be better?
Speaker 12 (01:01:13):
If so, Yeah, I think it's gonna be better just because,
I mean, they look good man playing a new style.
They look like they having fun out there. We got
new pieces to the puzzle. I think everyone, I think
the whole defense is excited to to prove that they're
better than last year, and I just better than last year,
to hold themselves to the highestandard than they are.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
All right, that is Jamar Chase right after today's practice.
There's a lot of good stuff there, Austin. I got
a feel for our guy, Mike Petraya a little bit,
I don't you know. I mean, Mike Petraya got up
today and he chose to put on the banana outfit.
Right Now, here's the thing, if you didn't get to
see Mike Petraya today. He had a shirt on the
(01:01:57):
button up shirt top to bottom just had bananas and
then he had a bucket hat on bananas all over
the bucket hat. But the shirt in the hat didn't
match each.
Speaker 4 (01:02:10):
Other, right, not even close.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
They were not even close. And he got it at
a Kroger. You didn't think at all that that was
going to be brought up today, That's what I'm saying, Like,
maybe not by Jamar Jas in a media setting, but
someone was gonna rise you a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:02:29):
And also, I'm a little bit concerned that trags might
think the hat and the shirt match. They just so
there might be some sort of I don't know, color
blind issue there.
Speaker 2 (01:02:41):
That's that's fair, that's something to look for me.
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
But also, if you're gonna wear that, you are inviting conversation.
You're looking. I think you're looking a little bit for
some attention.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
He got it, and he got it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:55):
Shout out by the way to Pat Brennan from The Inquirer.
Friend of the show. He posted what I think is
the best photo of the day from Bengals training camp.
It is Jamar laughing hysterically with the towel over his
head as Trags since since front and center banana head
(01:03:15):
to toe and all the other beat riders laughing, James
Rapine's face is red. Paul Danner Junior has his hand,
his face in his hands. He's laughing so hard. Ben
Baby is back there smiling. It is just a great
picture of that moment that our guy Pat Brennan posted that.
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
I think his photo of today.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
So good and so bad at the same time. For Trags,
what do we do?
Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
Trags man, We're gonna look a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):

car ride halrazy. Then yesterday he gets Austin to boot.
The dude can't speak for an hour and a half
on sixty.
Speaker 23 (01:05:28):
Who else is next?
Speaker 7 (01:05:29):
Tony?
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Who else you giving a boot too? Dez Riddard, You're
gonna take a spot on the death chart.
Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
Seriously, though, welcome back.
Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Buddy, Thank you. I appreciated at the boot either she
gets to fly home today. Why I drove.
Speaker 8 (01:05:43):
Good and happy morning, wonderful people of since he three sixty,
my favorite show this is Jim. Forty five years ago
I married a lovely six foot lady from south of
San and two football. She loves defense, and she's not
a big fan of this. I say who, She says, dahu,
look for the guy limping around. He shot himself in
the foot so many times. They can't win more than
(01:06:05):
ten games. But that's her.
Speaker 12 (01:06:08):
Let's just get it done.
Speaker 4 (01:06:09):
We need a Defense's a lot going on right there.
Very good is six foot woman from South to Santa Is.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
It a song?
Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
I don't know, Okay, A good questions kind of familiar.
Speaker 19 (01:06:24):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Regan, and hello, Robert Well.
I ran into Trey Hendrickson last night on the beach,
and when I came up to him, I said, hey,
what's happening, Captain?
Speaker 2 (01:06:34):
He didn't like that too much.
Speaker 19 (01:06:36):
But seriously, off the top of my brill cream coated head,
I can name five people that I'd rather have as
a Bengal captain than Tree Captain, Ahab, Captain Crunch Captain,
Kangaroo Captain, cave Man and the captain and t'neil.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
I like that. Those are well done. Those are well done, Tarney.
Speaker 19 (01:07:01):
What up?
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Welcome back for vacation at the Iceman.
Speaker 24 (01:07:05):
I heard what you said earlier today on the Tonymo
Football Show, which By the way, I hope we get
more local programming like this. You guys are doing a
great job, but you're talking about Tamar Stewart's agent and
how easily or hard it is to fire his agent.
Corey Dillon has told me this multiple times all my show.
You don't work for the agent.
Speaker 4 (01:07:23):
The agent works for you.
Speaker 14 (01:07:26):
Fire your agent. He's doing you no good.
Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
I don't disagree with the iceman.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
You don't work for your agent. Your agent.
Speaker 6 (01:07:37):
Talking about Euno Suarez, I believe he still has a house, Thomas.
Speaker 19 (01:07:42):
Oh.
Speaker 6 (01:07:43):
He obviously lived there when he played for the Reds
and apparently did not sell it when he got traded,
So he's got as got a place to come home to.
Speaker 4 (01:07:51):
I wonder has he been has it been kept up,
It's been a while since Gino played here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:58):
Has he rented it out?
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Has it been rented out? Is there a cleaning crew?
I bet if you're the cleaning crew, you love going
to that house because you don't really have much to
do right.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
Right, you know, man? You know what I would I
would welcome back Yim Day. Oh my god, great day,
Jim Day.
Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
It's my favorite thing. I watched a compilation of that too,
it was so good. I forgot how much he just
loves saying that.
Speaker 23 (01:08:24):
Him here with my new friend Wwees. The genius Tony
Bike is back from his excursion to the daggery Shack.
I heard that he'd drink them dry, so he knew
it was time to fly. Now, Tony, don't get upset
because I am just teasing the welcome back to Cincy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Three Wow, very good the genius.
Speaker 25 (01:08:47):
I paid every Ryan Vyella springs rest in peace. The
Hulkster hault Cogan passing away today. Immediately my mind goes
back to senior year of high school. Shout out how
La Wanda Butler tech ffa chapter uh for our into
year banquet. All the officers would do you know, big entrances.
(01:09:07):
It was hilarious. Smoke machine, strobe lights. Well, my entrance
was modeled after the Hulkster had even had a shirt
that I tore in half through into the audience.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
Just a legend, Yeah, legend is a very good work.
Speaker 5 (01:09:22):
Beautiful in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a neighbor.
What you came by, it might be time for lots
of the day brought to you by Bud zero zero
calories zero Bets zero sponsors.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
Holy cow, that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
That was so good to hear from Harry.
Speaker 26 (01:09:55):
Hey, guys, it's JD from Chicago. Undervaluing the offensive coordinator
Dan Pitcher. Is is he a sending kind of like
Ben Johnson did for the Lions last year? Is Dan
Pitcher a better OC than Brian Callahan was?
Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Maybe? I think I think it's fair to say after
this year, you can get a good judge on that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
Yeah, I think so. I do think he's ascending, I
really do sure.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
And hey, we were talking about him in the off
season maybe getting a job.
Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
Yeah, I mean, I think if they have another good
year offensively, he probably will get a job somewhere. And then,
you know, I think he kind of looked down the
rest of the line. Could Brad Cragthorpe come up currently
the quarterbacks coach? Could it be Justin Roscotti, who I
am a big fan of, who brought a lot of
those Minnesota concepts with Justin Jefferson here. So yeah, I mean,
this is a It's a problem to have, and I
(01:10:50):
do think that Dan Pitcher's better offensive coordinator than Brian Callahan.
And what we're gonna learn a lot is Dan Pitcher's
taking over the run game. You know, Frank Pollack used
to handle most of that. Dan Pitcher is taking it
over now. Curious to see what his wrinkles look like.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Dan baame oh, Dan.
Speaker 27 (01:11:08):
Patrick, the Lord or Savior in the sky Austin sabotaged
me yesterday, so.
Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
Well, yeah, I'm gonna sabotage you again. We don't need
to have talkbackers yelling back and forth to one another.
Nobody cares.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Oh noh's welcome.
Speaker 27 (01:11:22):
Jamal Warner along with Halkin, Uh yeah, Ozzy Osborne would
be the three. I guess I don't know if I
necessarily believe in that stuff, but all eighty stars, what
do you know?
Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
All right, Pete, Yeah, that stinks about Malcolm Jamal Warner
man the old Huxtable Reptide.
Speaker 18 (01:11:38):
All right, So Messi and Albas sit out the MLS
All Star Game in Austin for no known reason. Okay,
there's a league rule that if you do so, you
cannot play in the next league game in the MLS, which,
of course, and this is why it's relevant to us,
is against FC Cincinnati this Saturday. Will they actually enforce
this is the question. Will they make Messi and Albus
(01:12:00):
sit out because this is a huge game. Supporter shield leaders,
FC Cincinnati locking to sweep Miami on the season.
Speaker 12 (01:12:07):
What do we think that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
They better enforce it? I'm a raise hell, you don't
change the rules for a couple of players.
Speaker 4 (01:12:14):
Me and Tommy g go pound on the door at
Don Garber to the MLS commissioner. Let's go some stuff
to say, pass go Garbs. Who's more of an MLS commissioner,
Don Garber or Lionel Messi? This might be the toughest
one of all.
Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Hulk Hogan. What you gonna do?
Speaker 28 (01:12:39):
He has gone on to that great big r NC
convention in the sky.
Speaker 12 (01:12:44):
He's kicked the bucket.
Speaker 4 (01:12:45):
He's body slammed the bucket.
Speaker 12 (01:12:48):
Legend.
Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
Hey, I have a.
Speaker 6 (01:12:50):
Question for you guys. Should the Banals reach out to
the Texans, you know, try and trade for earth Smith?
Speaker 4 (01:12:57):
Can we run it back and we got him were room?
Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
If no offense falls through, do you go back to earth.
Speaker 4 (01:13:05):
I mean, on, how do you not pick up the phone?
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
Never We'll never get those weeks back where we got
that excited about Herve Smith unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:13:12):
He did have that one sick touchdown catch against the
Bills that was pretty cool.
Speaker 29 (01:13:17):
Yeah, what's up, guys, Big Kahooney in Kentucky. It's case Burns.
He's an overpowering ace. He's gonna be the eighth of
the staff. He is what Hunter Green should be. I
think you trade Hunter Green, uh, get a good package
for him, and then Burns Abbot Londolo that's what you
build around, and then Tony Hastermain Burton been looking down
(01:13:37):
at camp. What unity is he running with?
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
And have you heard where now?
Speaker 29 (01:13:41):
Is he living with Burrow or what's.
Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
His living situation? Why leave a talk back when it
is beeping constantly in the background. Where's the situational awareness
from Big Kahuna.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
I don't know the living situation. I know he's uh,
he's been mixing in with the twos. I know today
in the first team setting he uh shoulder pass from
Joe Burrow, So maybe building some trust there. So I'm
open to any trade ideas for the Reds, and I'm
open to Jermaine Barton getting more opportunities if he earns them.
Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
It does seem like some teams have asked the Reds
about Hunter Green. Jeff Passon kind of wrote about it
on ESPN that the Reds aren't really interested, but if
it's like a star for star type of trade, then
they'd be open to it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
So we'll dive into a little Reds And how about.
Speaker 18 (01:14:23):
Nick Lodolo This streak stopper I looked unbelievable yesterday. Are
the Reds ever gonna get swept again? Or more realistically,
here's a question what happens first the Reds get swept
or the Bengals start their season?
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
So what's that about six weeks away?
Speaker 18 (01:14:41):
What do you guys think I'm gonna go with the
Bengals start their season before the Reds get swept.
Speaker 2 (01:14:46):
At this point, I just I really do feel like
the Reds are not gonna get swept all year.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
I'm gonna go out on a limb here, I say
the Reds gets swept this weekend against Tampa.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Oh okay, hey, Homer, that's your favorite fifteen thirty host.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
That's the captain, you know, getting ready from a big
run down here.
Speaker 12 (01:15:16):
Put me on laf on the radio for it, because
you know I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Feeling a good time today. Yeah, good good they are.
Speaker 14 (01:15:22):
David.
Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
Yeah, I can't believe you attacked that dude the way
you did.
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
I just I don't mind. I think running is great,
but that's what he was doing doing someone that's ninety
degrees and you're in long pants and a long shirt.
That's borderline.
Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 2 (01:15:36):
That's not safe.
Speaker 4 (01:15:37):
Well, he knows himself and his body and he can
do what he needs to do. Maybe he's training adversity.
How do we thrive in the face of adversity?
Speaker 15 (01:15:49):
Hey, guys, jack every conch, it will just stop my run?
Speaker 12 (01:15:51):
Check my phone?
Speaker 23 (01:15:53):
What the hell?
Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
I want to be captain? No cap?
Speaker 30 (01:15:59):
I want to be captain?
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Yeah, no cap.
Speaker 28 (01:16:02):
Seventeen sacks helped me out Max thirty five mil.
Speaker 23 (01:16:07):
That's the bill.
Speaker 12 (01:16:08):
Want to be captain? No cap?
Speaker 2 (01:16:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 23 (01:16:11):
Man, okay, okay, Crawl man, you smell?
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Will you buy?
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Will you sell?
Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
Old Connor?
Speaker 23 (01:16:23):
Joe Man, that dud gotta go.
Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
Nobody like Scrawl.
Speaker 28 (01:16:31):
He just thinks it is job.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
God, you better get swall raise.
Speaker 4 (01:16:37):
I need permission from Bob. I mean, I don't know
how you beat that right there? That is the leader
in the clubhouse.
Speaker 13 (01:16:48):
So good, Josh TP fifteen beat w What do you
do telling I heard you had to run in with
a buddy of mine.
Speaker 31 (01:16:58):
Yeah, thinking about that deal, man, I sure hope it
leans in your favor. Does that the typically happened? Man,
when you're dealing with that cat. I hope you got
one over on you. Hey, question I have today from camp.
I've been listening today. Somebody mentioned this already. How's what's
the early reports on Jermaine Burton? How's he doing great?
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
He's done everything you need the first two days of
a camp. Long way to go, but but he has
flashed at times down here Austin. Yesterday. I uh, I
had to do something. So when I was gone on vacation,
you know, I had this. I had this deal with Cadillact.
They did some spots on the show. You remember that,
and the return I got to drive a car because
(01:17:39):
mine got stolen all that time ago. Well, that deal
came up and I had to be a big boy
when I got home from vacation and purchase a car.
I had to go to an actual dealership. I didn't
buy at least, Oh god, I know what my situation
is going to be in two years. Sorry to hear that, man,
But at least and the folks that Jake Sweeney helped
me out. But when I walked into the finance guy,
(01:18:01):
he says, hey, love listening to the show. Really good.
Buddy of mine is a talkbacker m and all he
said was mall walking And I said MWG. He said yeah,
he goes up to the Liberty Center and just walks
around the mall and leaves talkbacks.
Speaker 5 (01:18:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
So I said, well, a talkback friend of yours is
a talkback friend of mine. Yeah. How much can I
get me off this?
Speaker 4 (01:18:24):
Liakay?
Speaker 12 (01:18:27):
Dude?
Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
I had to go.
Speaker 4 (01:18:28):
I had to go and buy a suit the other
day and that was awful.
Speaker 5 (01:18:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
I spent way more money than I wanted to, and
I had to tell this dude. He's like trying to
sell me shoes and a pocket square and a belt.
I'm like, buddy, I got all that stuff. I just
want the suit. Can we get to the suit? He's like, well,
let me show you something. I was like, I'm not
gonna buy it, no, and he just kept doing it anyways,
And I got to the end, I'm like, so how
much do I get off for being a good sport
(01:18:56):
and listening to all this stuff even though I told
you I didn't want to.
Speaker 2 (01:18:59):
And he was like nothing, I got nothing bad to
say about the folks that helped me out of Jack sweety. Yesterday.
I felt bad as well because I had to do
one of my camp reports from there and I'm pacing
around their showroom talking about the camp. I'm sweating. I
just I need to get in something.
Speaker 19 (01:19:16):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:19:16):
Negotiating the price of a car is very intimidating.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
It is, and I'm a terrible negotiator. Yeah, but I
couldn't thank those.
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
Guys when when my car got stolen. I did not
want to lease a car I want, didn't I didn't
want a car payment or anything like that. So I
went to this dealership with the help of my dad,
God love him, because I had no idea what I
was doing. And I was like, this is the amount
of money I got from the totaling of the car.
(01:19:44):
I want to pay that exact amount of money for
this car that I want. And that was like basically
as direct as I could be about it. And so
they made it work to where to the exact dollar
amount I paid for the car A new car. Yeah,
it was crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
There's a lot of incentives, there's a lot of fees.
But what I did learn is that if you look
at like the monthly specials, that can help you out
a lot, especially from a lease standpoint.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
So that's my uh, that's my word of the day.
Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
While you've been looking for a car, if you've been
like on all the different websites and everything, and then
you get a ton of text messages, emails, phone calls.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
And I was I was like stressing out because when
I got home from obviously Florida, I didn't have another car.
So like, while Mara is still down there, it's great,
I just drive the car she has, And I was like,
I'm gonna have to find one in like a day
or else I'm in trouble. So that's part of how
I used my fifteen hour journey. But yeah, shout out
(01:20:47):
to them and.
Speaker 30 (01:20:48):
Watch how to rank them on annoying personalized license plates,
electric cars that say something about gas, mileage, plates that
say the make and model of the car right underneath
where the car tells you what the making model is,
or cars that look fast and say something about speed
or zoom.
Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
Yeah, I hate the speed stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
I was gonna start that. I would like rank that
number one, okay, the mileage number two, and then the
make and model number three.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Yeah, I'll just I'll swap one in three. But I'm
not a big personalized plate guy anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
I'm not either. Those things are expensive too.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
My brother has a personalized play which pretty cool. His
name is Doug so you go like Dougie Fresh and
his license plate is like f R R E S
H like fresh.
Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
Lame, but get like speaking of the mallwalking, Grandpa, they
should get together and do like a talkback mall walk
and they all leave talkbacks on their walk of them all.
Speaker 19 (01:21:49):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:21:52):
Maybe Maso and Moon could get that together since they
don't clearly ever work.
Speaker 12 (01:21:59):
Balling as hey.
Speaker 14 (01:22:01):
I was over by the practice field today.
Speaker 12 (01:22:03):
I thought about coming to say what's up to Tony,
but I didn't have my my VIP access badge.
Speaker 15 (01:22:08):
I'm sure there's lots of gates and security to get through,
but I.
Speaker 13 (01:22:11):
Was delivering over there and I got to see Jamaar
and t walk by Logan Wilson, Ted Harris.
Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
It was pretty cool.
Speaker 12 (01:22:17):
That's the first time been down there for that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
If you haven't been down here, it's a cool experience.
Speaker 4 (01:22:22):
Baul and I have unloaded many a FedEx truck at
the security gate at Paul Brown Stadium, and those dudes
are like, whoever the guy is that does the FedEx
for like the Bengals deliveries. He's like a celebrity down there.
He's a big time guy.
Speaker 32 (01:22:39):
It's like cheers, Happy Thursday, guys, Tony and Moe. We're
talking this morning that they would be comfortable to trade
Jake Browning for like a fifth or sixth rounder. Have
you seen his girlfriend's Instagram post? We want to keep
that man in Cincinnati have a great day.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
How does that affect the football team?
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
I don't face mysion and hopefully the Bengals don't either
on Instagram?
Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
Can any of you just be can you just be
normal for a minute, Like that guy's wife has nothing
to do with anything. I'm happy for Jake man. That
was our last one.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
Very good. By the way, Jake brown immediately made me
think of Brian Callahan. That made me think of the
Tennessee Titans. Did you see the question that the board
got yesterday of like, hey, what did you think of
Will Leies? Like, I don't worry about him. I worry
about cam Ward.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
Oh no, I didn't see that. Yes, that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
That's like, hey, what are your thoughts on Will Levis?
He's like, I don't have any thoughts because I only
worry about cam Ward, Okay, I dislike it at the
same time, And what about the Tennessee Titans front office?
When I asked, yes, the team that's taking the field
has a shot to win the Super Bowl, they looked shocked.
They looked absolutely terrified on that question and gave like
(01:23:54):
the most political answer as possible.
Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
There were like three, so three or four answers from
that press press conference that were made you kind of
hold your breath for a minute, including one I think
there a player of personnel guy was like staring a
reporter down while he was like while the other guy
was answering the question. Yeah, it's weird, all right, We're done,
(01:24:18):
all right. I don't think anybody's gonna beat Ozzie.
Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
No, that's tough man. That's a uh. And that's a
very relevant talk back as well. We gotta take a break,
come back. We got to get an injury report here
in the the end of the hour, We got to
update our poll question, and then we will open up
Austin the Ray Saint Clair roofing hotlines as we get
into hour three, will take some of your phone calls. Uh.
(01:24:42):
As we go, we are live from Bengals training Camp.
It's a special addition thanks to AE Door and Window.
They sell the best in service to rest. Also special
thanks to Adam Webber UH for sponsoring our broadcast at
Bengals training Camp. Always continued support of the Bengals. Also
thanks to Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOE five to
one three five one three t OPH. Thanks to Oakley Greens.
All the sports, all the time, all at Oakley Greens
(01:25:04):
and UH. As we sit here right now from the
Airport Payton Body knowledge of quality of yesterday, knowledge of
today broadcast area. Thanks for listening. We'll be back right
after this on the Home of the Bengals ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (01:25:17):
Still Kisey, Cincinnati's sports station.
Speaker 12 (01:25:28):
Strong one.
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
I gotta have some fun tonight. Welcome back. I am
here down at Bengals training camp in Sincy three sixty
Austin Elmore with us and UH. This is happening thanks
to AE Door and Window. Also thanks to TOE five
one three five one three t OPH. Thanks to Oakley
Greens here at the Airport Payton Body broadcast area. And
(01:25:51):
as we get to our number three, we're gonna open
up the ray Saint Clair Roofing Hotline. All of that
still ahead. Thanks here to our friends at Cincy Shirts,
our Postman Law injury report delivered by postman Mall injured
call eight four to four Postman. They always deliver nothing new,
at least from what I've seen here. Yeah, Austin from yesterday.
Did Hunter Green make a rehab start last night? I
(01:26:13):
know he was scheduled to go last night.
Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
Yes, I believe he did two innings. I want to say,
twenty seven pitches, so I think everything went to plan.
Speaker 2 (01:26:23):
Okay, as far as that's right. Terry Francona has said
Rhet Louder is doing rotational stuff. Expected to start throwing
this week. Carson Spires underwent an MRI on Monday that
revealed ligament issues, so no new news for the Cincinnati Reds.
Will update that as we go. Do we have an
update on today's Revivefitnesssystems dot com poll question?
Speaker 4 (01:26:43):
We do, But can we quickly throw in some Bengals
injury updates because Miles Murphy did leave the field on
a cart earlier today, but that was just cramps, according
to Miles Murphy in the locker room afterwards, and then
there was a video going around of t Higgins off
to the sides getting stretched out by one of the trainers.
Zach Taylor came over and talked to him. T was
(01:27:05):
asked about that. T said, He's one hundred percent healthy.
He was just getting stretched out, normal typical stuff. We've
talked about how they're trying to come up with a
plan for Tea to kind of manage especially the soft
tissue stuff, and this is the time of year where
the soft tissue stuff crops up, and so they were
just executing that plan on Tea and the stretching and
that sort of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
He was on full display today man over the top
some tight window catches. There was also a instance earlier
today Austin that Josh Newton had to leave the field
to puke. Yes, Jeremy Row asked him about it. He said,
quotes just weakness leaving the body period. Josh Newton's becoming
one of my favorite hos. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
Did you read that story that Jay wrote? Yeah? I
did really good stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
Very good from Jay Morrison. What do we got from
a poll question?
Speaker 4 (01:27:51):
Update revived Fitnessystems dot Com coach PJ.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
Street.
Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
Should the Bengals sign Noah Fant eighty percent say yes,
they should, twenty percent say no. There's more importance stuff
to deal with on the roster. Only seventy five votes though,
so let's get the votes pumped up at ESPN fifteen thirty,
at Audio more at Tony Underscore Pike fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Can we do this as well? Of if if you
were one that voted no, give us a call five one, three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty here and now we number three and explain
why yeah, because it's not like the Bengals have five
million dollars left and they only have room for one
more move to make this offseason. If your answer is no,
(01:28:30):
I'd like to hear from you on the race. Aint
Claire Roofing Hotline.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
I think we should do the race, Saint Clair Roofing Hotline.
Ask me anything training camp edition. I like that anybody
can ask Tony any training camp question they might have,
whether that's about his experience as a player. Vote that
you see and in the NFL, no.
Speaker 2 (01:28:47):
More Jermaine Burton questions today, though we.
Speaker 4 (01:28:49):
Always gotten a lot of Germaine Burton questions. We don't
know anything about his living situation, but I would assume
his rent is being paid on time, which is a
good thing.
Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
Us anything I've won three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty.
Don't ask me anything about a clipboarder chart and plays
like that? Either why not or you'll get the click
real quick.
Speaker 4 (01:29:12):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
Now? My handwriting was exquisite, but a time you have
too slow, you have.
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
Like the third best handwriting in the office.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
Yeah, I was told at times though I was complimented
on my handwriting, but also at times I was told
I need to write faster when I was charting plays,
which I think is left to a little bit of
this damage in my arm that I have right now.
Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
Just a thought, Yeah, think about how much healthier your
elbow would have been if you were having to write
so many plays down correct. Well, let me ask you
about that. Let me let this be the first question.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
Please.
Speaker 4 (01:29:45):
When you're writing down a play, like, are you writing
it as it has said into the helmet.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
Like the full play call?
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
Yeah, so I have the I have the year piece
in that. Obviously the coach has that's calling in the play.
So my role was writing that down formation, play call, protections,
all of that stuff. If there's an audible, you got
to change it to what the audible was. And then
it was my job, which I was nervous as all
get out about after the play, to write down the
(01:30:15):
coverage as well. And I'm like, oh, I hope that
was cover three.
Speaker 4 (01:30:19):
Oh gosh, hope you really do have to pay attention.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
Yes, I hope that was a field fire zone blitz.
And then there's also like a comment section to where
the coach may look over and say, like, you know,
alert high or alert Z on that something like that
that you jot down as well. Interesting, which was all fine,
But if I didn't I didn't wet game. Oh my goodness,
good luck trying to write in the rain.
Speaker 4 (01:30:42):
That has to be done on iPads now, right because
you don't see I mean, you don't see a lot
of quarterbacks with clipboards anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
I would think so because you could probably just easily
throw it in the iPad because I was gonna say, like,
of a backup quarterback, what a role that is now.
Speaker 4 (01:30:55):
With stuff like like huddle today. The huddle is an
example just for like the high school. Yeah, you can
like as it goes, put the play in, Yeah, like
you know what the play is without having to write
it down to chart it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Genius absolutely genius.
Speaker 4 (01:31:11):
We already have three callers on hold that we're gonna
get to.
Speaker 2 (01:31:14):
As we get under underwent hour number three, we'll go

Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
All right, welcome back. It is our number three of
Cincy three sixty. Thanks to Penn Station. And how about
our friends at a door window where they sell the
best and service the rest. They are making this happen
for us throughout Bengals Training Camp. Also special thanks to
Adam Webber for sponsoring our broadcast here at Bengals Training
Camp and all of his continued support of the Cincinnati
(01:32:13):
Bengals all these many years.
Speaker 4 (01:32:16):
Has anyone ever said to you, you make a better
door than a window. Yes, yeah, that's when it's a
great insult.
Speaker 2 (01:32:22):
You think that's ae door.
Speaker 4 (01:32:24):
Oh they make them both really well?
Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
Yeah, well said, yeah, well said. Thought. Here's my question
is we're going to get to our race and claar
roofing hotline in just a second. You've had a chance
to see multiple angles. Was the Cleveland brown helmet unveiling
man falling into the water stage? Yes, I think it
was the first angle. I thought, no, shot, it's the
(01:32:48):
most browns thing. Ever. When the other angle was released,
he clearly walked off that pier.
Speaker 4 (01:32:53):
He walked off and like kind of leaned into the water.
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:32:57):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
Like if you've ever seen and somebody actually falls off
the stage like mister Mett just did it the other day,
or falls off of like something, your arms will flail
like you're looking at your grabbing out for something to
grab onto. He perfectly held the camera as he fell
into the water, so to me it was clearly staged.
(01:33:18):
And also they had they had turned around to look
at him as it was happening, and they threw something
in the water at him. It was staged.
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
Yep. Let's dive into some of our phone lines or
phone calls here on the Ray Saint Clair Roofing hotline. Uh,
let's start. I believe Kate has called in.
Speaker 4 (01:33:38):
That's right, Kate, Kay Montgomery.
Speaker 28 (01:33:41):
Hello, Well, I'm.
Speaker 25 (01:33:43):
Actually calling for him.
Speaker 24 (01:33:46):
I'm on the hell Is Real Highway.
Speaker 19 (01:33:48):
Right now, and it's.
Speaker 33 (01:33:52):
It's hot even in the car, even with the air
conditioning on Max, So I guess I'll turn the fan
down so I can hear you better fit.
Speaker 9 (01:34:00):
Oh my gosh, I'm hot.
Speaker 4 (01:34:01):
So okay.
Speaker 33 (01:34:03):
I don't know how y'all are managing out there, so
that's not just leads me to my question, which is,
do you know do they use IV therapies for the
the Bengos during camp and I mostly think of.
Speaker 29 (01:34:15):
During camp because of the heat.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
Do they get IVS when they come off the fields
for grus creation or do they figure yeah it is
I've been in locker rooms before, Kate, where it's it's
almost like passing out candy where they're coming by. Do
you need an ivy?
Speaker 11 (01:34:29):
Do you need an IV emergency rooms?
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Gotcha?
Speaker 19 (01:34:32):
Okay?
Speaker 33 (01:34:33):
And do they like have different mags like I get
one with a lot of magnesia in it for for
late cramps.
Speaker 2 (01:34:39):
You know, when you were talking about T's special plan,
I thought, well, I hope.
Speaker 33 (01:34:42):
They're putting a little extra something in ts uh for
those muscles of his.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
Yeah, I think they do have now, with with so
many of the advance advancements in that field, I'm sure
they have specialized ivs that you can use. But for
the most part, you just see fluids because these guys
are losing so much over the course.
Speaker 33 (01:35:03):
Of a prob I can imagine literally, I'm hot, sitting
in the air conditioning right now.
Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
You can hydrate, or you can be as hydrated as
you think, but until you get there, I remember doing
stuff at UC and HOT games, guys before the game,
just laying in the trainer's room with ivs or getting
into halftime as soon as possible and getting an IV
to try to limit as much of those cramps as possible.
But it is a lot of people, a lot of
people I think just assume, well, they just need to hydrate.
(01:35:30):
Just hydrate. You can hydrate all you want. If your
body's losing too much, you can't block it, can't.
Speaker 33 (01:35:36):
Know you, and you can't have all that fluid in
your stomach because then you're doing a big Newton and
just you know, Okay, So I hope, I hope, I
hope you don't need one.
Speaker 19 (01:35:47):
After this week.
Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
Thank you, k I appreciate that. Thanks for listening.
Speaker 33 (01:35:51):
I know you guys are working hard out there for us.
Speaker 2 (01:35:53):
Thank you, Thank you, Kate. We appreciate that. Uh, let's
stick with the race, Saint Claire Roofing hotline. Let's take
Phil's call here, Austin. Is this Phil Elmore?
Speaker 4 (01:36:01):
No, this is Phil in Newport?
Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
What up?
Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
Phil?
Speaker 33 (01:36:04):
Hey?
Speaker 28 (01:36:05):
Tone been loving the morning show man. I'm so glad
you guys are doing that. Yeah, Yeah, it's been awesome
to listen to.
Speaker 2 (01:36:13):
Uh, thank you.
Speaker 28 (01:36:14):
The question I have for you and Audi you can
chime into if you're if you're feeling like it.
Speaker 4 (01:36:20):
But I wanted to know what you.
Speaker 21 (01:36:21):
Guys thought thinking of like the draft, off season moves,
guys who've shown up or not shown up the camp.
How much better, worse or the same as the ASC
NORD because everyone always says you got to win the division.
Speaker 4 (01:36:36):
You know.
Speaker 28 (01:36:37):
Yeah, for the Bengals looking at the division, this this
whole process, is it better?
Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
Did it get worse?
Speaker 9 (01:36:44):
Or did it stay the same.
Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Uh yeah, Phil, thank you for the phone call. I
would I'll start with the Browns. I think they're a
dumpster fire. I think they did some good stuff in
the draft, but I don't think they're going to be
a competitive team this year. Pittsburgh Steelers are intriguing to
me because you have a high leve acquisition in dk Metcalf.
They brought in Jalen Ramsey. They also were able to
re sign TJ.
Speaker 5 (01:37:04):
Watt.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
The major question is what it looks like with Aaron Rodgers.
So I don't think Pittsburgh's had a terrible offseason. I
think they've gotten a lot done that they needed to
get done. I just don't know if they're contenders yet.
If you look at a lot of betting sites Austin,
they're not just a favorite in the AFC North. Most
sites have Baltimore as the AFC favored at this point,
not Buffalo, not Kansas City. To me, Baltimore's had the
(01:37:27):
best offseason. You look at their major weakness. They drafted
Malachi Starks, they added Jayir Alexander, they drafted Mike Green.
They have gotten better on the offensive side of the ball.
They need Lamar Jackson to take the next step. But
I think from the AFC North's standpoint, easily easily Baltimore
has had the best offseason. I think the Bengals are
(01:37:48):
kind of right in the middle of the pack. I
think they've done some good things. Getting t Higgins and
Jamar Chase done is huge, but there's still some meat
left on the bone if you're the Bengals, because there's
still two guys that aren't here. So I think we
could answer that question a little more appropriately if and
win Trey Hendrickson gets here. But for now, I am
very impressed with what the Ravens have done this offseason.
Speaker 4 (01:38:08):
I think the ANFC North is a little bit better altogether,
like not a crazy amount better, but a little bit
better from top to bottom. Cleveland, Yeah, they're a dumpster
fired and I don't really think they're trying to win.
I mean, I think there's already stuff out there about
how Jimmy has them once arch Manning to be a
Cleveland Brown and for arch Manning's hope, I hope the sake,
(01:38:29):
I hope that doesn't happen. But their defense is still
gonna be really good. Their defense is gonna win them
some games, and I gonna win a bunch of games,
but it's gonna win them some games. Baltimore, I think
you hit the nail on the head. They've improved the most. Pittsburgh.
It feels like they can be good, but a lot
of things have to go right for them to be good.
I still don't look at them as a major threat
(01:38:50):
in the AFC, and the Bengals I think might have
the highest ceiling. But it's like, can a bunch of
guys make a jump, that's the big thing. Second year
jump from Chris Jenkins, second year jump from Josh Newton,
back to consistency from Cam Taylor, britt Dax Hill, coming
back from an injury, all those things. If they can
get several guys to tank a jump this year, that
(01:39:11):
I think the Bengals can be right there with Baltimore.
But that's a lot to ask as well.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
You know, from a unique stamp. If you just look
at win totals across the National Football League, Baltimore is
at eleven and a half. I mean, there's a lot
of belief in Baltimore. The Bengals are at nine and
a half, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have themselves at eight
and a half wins. For what it's worth from a
betting standpoint, the Cleveland Browns have the lowest projected win total.
(01:39:35):
Their number is set at four and a half. Do
with that whatever you will. One more time here to
the race. Saint Claire roofing hotline for Brian calling in.
What's up? Brian?
Speaker 7 (01:39:48):
Hello?
Speaker 9 (01:39:48):
How you doing guys?
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Good? How are you?
Speaker 9 (01:39:51):
I just wanted to talk about how they should I
give a reason why I didn't want. I had said
no to the Sime Noah fense. What do you think
for I just I think there's I don't think there's
other needs than the Bengals that they didn't really need
to fill in the holes with some other things that
need to still in their defense needs to because could
why can't they bring it in like a defensive free
(01:40:13):
agent or haven't seen maybe somebody if if if Prey
doesn't sign.
Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Or show up. Yeah. I think one of the biggest
thoughts that I have through that is the Bengals have
money to do multiple things. If the Bengals were so
cap ridden and they had money for one more move
and they were bringing in Noah Fan, then I would
probably say, maybe you could use it elsewhere. But in
my opinion, they could sign no Afan today and still
(01:40:40):
have plenty of room and money to go around to
make other moves. That's why that's why I'm in the yes,
because if you're just taking today, are the Bengals better
if no Offense leaves the city without a deal or
if no offense remains in Cincinnati? I think they're better
if he stays here. And that's not taking into equation
everything that else is going on. Understand that people view
(01:41:01):
other holes on this roster, but I also think they
have the financial flexibility that they could fill those other
holes as well.
Speaker 19 (01:41:09):
Well.
Speaker 9 (01:41:09):
I think they already filled all their needs on offense.
They got, you know, signed Chase and Higgins and they
got is it the galaki on t and you got
him Kasiki. That's why I thought they didn't need another
tight end did they already got offensive players? But anyway,
(01:41:29):
and then what's going on with the Trey Hendrickson Anything
new on the news on the front, like a is
there anything looking AT's trying to get get this contract signed?
Speaker 2 (01:41:38):
Nothing? Nothing new to this point, which we're gonna spend
some some time here talking about Brian. Thank you for
the phone call. We appreciate it, then it takes all right.
That is uh, that's our race. Saint Claire roofing hotline
Austin Like that, to me is the difference. If the
Bengals had moved room for one more move, maybe I
would say maybe no offense not the right move. I
don't think you can ever have enough weapons on offense,
(01:42:00):
and if eric All was healthy, they wouldn't have to
make this move. But I think they see a value
in two tight end sets, and I think this offense
can even can get even better.
Speaker 4 (01:42:09):
Sure if they had a no offent that got added, Yeah,
I agree with you one hundred percent. And like you said,
it's not an either or situation.
Speaker 2 (01:42:15):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:42:15):
I would have loved to have seen them a month
ago do this same thing with Jay R Alexander. I'd
feel better about that. Or maybe like a Zandarius Smith,
who I think is still available as a defensive end
and a veteran guy that could be in that room
those two things, like or any of this, like it's
still possible, absolutely still possible, But for whatever reason, they
(01:42:35):
feel a little bit more comfortable on defense in those
positions than they do. I guess about tight.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
End Let's let's talk about Trey Hendrickson for a moment,
because I mentioned this earlier with Mo.
Speaker 4 (01:42:45):
I was hoping we would because we have had you know,
haven't spent enough time on Trey.
Speaker 2 (01:42:49):
Look, there's something to me and the jokes right themselves
with the team captain thing, there is something that just
sticks poorly with me. The fact that he went to
Florida as training camp opened. Yeah, because even if you're
here and just not at the facility, that's still sending
(01:43:12):
a message that I'm trying to make this work. When
you pick up and you move to a different state,
that sends a message like I'm really not that interested
in talking or seeing you right now, right. And to
add on, and Mo brought it up earlier, he comes
to Cincinnati and he puts on a circus of a
media experiment where practice is being held and he's holding
(01:43:34):
his own media session, and then the comments right before
or in the last week or so of where this
is moving and we thought it was moving in the
right direction, and then you hear Diana Russini's comments, I'm all,
I understand there are teams around the NFL. Micah Parsons
isn't practicing Terry McLaurin isn't practicing. There are teams and
players that hold out every year. It's not just something
(01:43:57):
that happens in Cincinnati. But I'd be darn if Jamar
Chase last year didn't make it very very obvious that
he wanted a new deal and he showed up every
single day of CAM and was out here. Joe Burrow
was practicing while going through it. I'm not saying Trey
Hendrickson needs to be out here practicing, but with a
new defensive coordinator and a new scheme and a lot
(01:44:20):
of young players, what does it say about Trey Hendrickson
the teammate that he doesn't want to even want to
be here to try to talk or help in any
way with the teammates on the field. Correct that, more
so than I think anything else Trey Hendrickson has done
or hasn't done this offseason, that sticks with me the most,
the fact that he is not here. I'm not either
talk about being here for the organization, but to be
(01:44:43):
here for your teammates while you're going through it, I
think it is an extremely, extremely weak look from Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 4 (01:44:49):
Trey Hendrickson to me strikes me as the type of
guy who thinks he knows better than everybody else, that
he thinks he's really, really really missed inside that locker
room right now, that he thinks that, you know, it's
gonna be really hard for the Bengals to survive without him,
And in reality, I doubt that's the case. I bet
nobody is really thinking about Trey or talking about Trey
(01:45:11):
or missing Trey. Yeah, they might check in with him
or like say, hey, man, you know, we miss you,
hope things are going well, blah blah blah. But like
you know, part of being a leader, whether it's in
football or in any stage of your life at work
or on a high school team, or if you're coaching kids,
or if you're you know, leading a charity, whatever it is,
you make sacrifices for the betterment of the group how much.
(01:45:35):
And that's that's what I'm saying. If he this is
the second time he's brought up the team captain thing.
And by the way, to clarify, I don't think he
was saying to the Bengals and negotiations, make me a
team captain. I think he's trying to say, well, if
I'm actually there and I'm happy and I have a contract,
then I can be a leader. Whereas the reality is,
you can be a leader without being happy with your contract.
(01:45:58):
You can be a leader without you know, feeling like
you're respected by your bosses or whatever it might be.
Speaker 5 (01:46:04):
Like.
Speaker 4 (01:46:05):
You can still be helpful to the football team while
being there and choosing to handle it in the right way.
And this is an example of like what Mike Brown said,
the guy is emotional and I feel like he kind
of is off the cuff and makes these crazy decisions.
We've seen this before in the past. Blackout Trey right
where he loses his marbles and he picks up an
unsportsmanlike conduct penalty or he hits a quarterback late and
(01:46:27):
it hurts the defense, like we've seen that stuff with
Trey in the past.
Speaker 2 (01:46:30):
Is it worth the messaging that you're trying to send
to miss fifty thousand dollars every day, No, no chance,
and to also not be a teammate and help guys
out on the field for the new defense, a new
defensive coordinator and a lot of guys that need to
take a leap on this defense. Not to mention we're
down here. Mike Brown's out here every single day. We've
seen in the past Mike Brown pulled players over and
(01:46:51):
sat him on the golf cart and I just have
a conversation with him. You know what Trey Hendrickson can't
do in Florida. He can't talk to Mike Brown, yeap,
he can't talk to Zach Taylor, he can't talk to
Al Golden. What type of communication is happening between the
Bengals and Trey Hendrickson right now, right zero?
Speaker 4 (01:47:08):
In the whole talk to his agent, the whole uh
you know, distraction thing. You don't say that and then
post what you post on your Instagram.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
That's it. That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:47:16):
Like that's a perfect example of what he's He's just
trying to get attention about and bring attention to it
and try to throw the organization under the bus YEP
doesn't help.
Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
I think it's a week look, Yep. I think it's
a week look from Trey Hendrickson. More to come when
we come back. Since he three sixty Thanks to Penn Station,
we'll open up the race and Claiir roofing hotline as
we go. Moigo will join us for quick kits and
plenty more on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
Now Urgen See three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati's Sports station.
Speaker 2 (01:47:57):
An hour three Rolling along at the Penn Station. Thanks
for listening. You're wondering, man, what is that noise us?
Because I'm outside. I'm live from Bengal's training camp right now.
Thanks to our friends at AE Door and Window where
they sell the best and service the rest. Also got
to give a big shout out to Cincinnati Tax Resolution
that is powered by TOF five one three five one
(01:48:18):
three pH Oakley Greens. All the sports, all the time,
all at Oakley Greens. And uh where I am right now,
it's the Airport Payton Body Quality of Yesterday, Knowledge of
Today broadcast area. We just took some phone calls on
the Ray Saint Claire Roofing Hotline. Happy to be doing this,
happy to be moving along. I wanted to revisit one
thing from from a conversation I had last night in
(01:48:42):
one of the training camp reports with Moheir Austin. We
discussed Trey Hendrickson. We talked about a great day from
the offense and positivity, positivity building around there and liking
what Al Golden is doing. Do you think inside the
walls across the street from where I'm sitting right now,
(01:49:03):
do you think it's more likely that today Chamar Stewart
is viewed as a red shirt for the Bengals, regardless
of when he signs his deal. Do you genuinely think
that he if he showed up here tomorrow, that he
would impact this defense in a big way. Now, I
think you could put in a seven to ten play
(01:49:26):
package for Shamar Stewart. I think you could use him
in unique or special situations. But the speed of the game,
the physicality of the game, the shape that you need
to be in, not to mention the mental aspects. I mean,
we talked today with while we were down here, Demetrius
Knight and how uphill of the battle it is for
a rookie linebacker to be able to start and play
(01:49:48):
a significant role. And Demetrius Knight has been here all
off season. At what point, even if he does show
up with a new agent in hand, at what point
do you just have to kind of grap what Shamar
Stewart is or what he was going to be this
year for this team, because I don't know that he
can get up to that in this short amount of
time from a mental or physical standpoint, at this at
(01:50:10):
this at the current point of where we're at in camp.
Speaker 4 (01:50:14):
Yeah, I think it would be like at the minimum
a month that he would need like a minimum of
a month of him just to be able to play
in games.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
Because like my worry about it is I alluded to this,
like Al Golden, his his mindset right now is getting
whoever is here ready to play in a game. H
So when Schamar, if he does or when he does,
you can't on one side, push guys and push guys
and push guys and give guys opportunities and then hold
(01:50:47):
your hand out and slowly walk Shamar Stewart along or
take reps away from guys that have been busting their
tail all off season and give Shamar Stewart reps. Why
you slowly incorporate him into that. You don't have time
for that anymore. That's what the offseason was for. So
is he missing money? Absolutely? But is he missing an
(01:51:10):
opportunity to impact this team one percent? In my opinion,
he is, Yeah, And I don't know how you get
that back on top of what he already said about
the organization.
Speaker 4 (01:51:19):
I mean, even if you go through the timeline of
if he gets here today and it takes him a
month to get ready to just be able to play
in games. The last preseason game is less than a
month away.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
Right, and we're not even talking about the mental side.
We're just talking about physically getting ready. Yeah, let alone
out there, knowing what you're supposed to do, nom where
you're supposed to line up, knowing what your role is
on every single play he would show up, he would
have to get acclimatized, he would have to ramp up
to full go.
Speaker 4 (01:51:47):
Because I mean, you are starting at the very very
very beginning, correct, Like it's not even like I guess
there's a lot of the off field stuff that you
that he did while he was here, but even then
still like learning how to be a professional about meetings,
about the times, about the off the field stuff. Where
are you gonna live? How's that gonna work?
Speaker 3 (01:52:08):
Like you know all of it.
Speaker 4 (01:52:10):
It's just it's it's hard to come back from to
the point where it's like you can't have any of
that settled, Like you would think he'd be here in Cincinnati, like, Okay,
this is where I'm gonna live, this is what I'm
gonna do. This is how I get to the stadium,
this is what I want to report. Here's where I
go to get my groceries, Like, this is how I
get my life figured out so that I can play football.
(01:52:33):
And that's probably just gonna be a big whirlwind for
him once that actually happens. If it actually happens.
Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
Yeah, I just I don't know at this point if
it's too late.
Speaker 4 (01:52:46):
I'm not ready to say it's too late, and I'm
not ready to say it's too late.
Speaker 2 (01:52:52):
The impact that he can have. He was also also
the guy that got drafted and people questioned his ability
to be able to succeed because he had four and
a half. So, like most said yesterday, you came in
with this this moniker of well you didn't get after
the quarterback. You should have been here busting your tail
every single day? What else can I do to get better?
What else can I do to show that I'm not
a bust? I am a guy that you that you
(01:53:14):
should have taken a chance on. And I'm gonna show
you why every single day he hasn't had that mentality.
You go back to draft nighty and you remember meeting
with the Bengals, so yeah, again, it's a to me,
it's it's a slippery slope because it's one thing to
(01:53:34):
sign and report and it's another thing to be ready
to play football in the National Football League.
Speaker 4 (01:53:38):
Now this might be low hanging fruit, but at what
point do we blame Duke tobd in the Bengals because
first place, Yeah, I mean, shoot, there's a what is
it a clip from Todd mcsha mcshay's show from before
the NFL draft where there were rumblings about Schamar's agent
(01:54:00):
and how some teams had taken him off their board
because of his agent. That was before he got drafted.
They were doing a mock draft and they had Schamar
going number eleven to the San Francisco forty nine ers,
and Todd McShay said that there are people in the
NFL that have already been rubbed the wrong way by
(01:54:21):
Shamar Stewart's agent. This dude did not come in for
a thirty visit. They spent twenty minutes with him at
the combine. Now, I know for a fact that the
Bengals were desperately trying to trade back in the first
round but couldn't get any takers because of the way
the first seventeen picks had fallen, which makes me think
if they're trying to trade back at eighteen, the guy
(01:54:43):
they wanted wasn't there at seventeen, and it's almost like
they panicked and like, Okay, we'll take this guy and
you can't have that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:52):
You just can't.
Speaker 4 (01:54:54):
You gotta have better ways to pivot.
Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
I mean, what happens and what happens at this point
if if Gray Zabel turns out to be a stud
for the Seattle Seahawks, right right, that is a player
that we talked about in Cincinnati of a position of
need at guard. I mean, you can go down the
(01:55:19):
list of other players. Malachi Starks has been talked about
in high high praise in Baltimore with how he has
started his NFL campaign. We talked about Jehad Campbell from
Alabama and I know he's slid to thirty one. He
slid to the Philadelphia Eagles. So there are players that
(01:55:42):
were taken shortly after the Bengals took Shamar Stewart that
you're going to watch very closely and say, man, that
was a miss, that was a miss. That player was
still available, and you hate to do that because you're
always gonna second guess yourself. But with what's going on
right now with Shamar Stewart, I would say a lot
of other players on that board after number seventeen look
(01:56:03):
very enticing because they'd be here on the field impacting
the team right now. You don't draft, you don't draft
at number seventeen for a project. Right You're drafting a
number seventeen for a guy that's going to come in
and impact the team right away, or maybe fill the
shoes of a player that could be on his way
out for the Cincinnati Bengals. So that, to me, that
(01:56:28):
makes it hard. We need to get a break in.
We'll have one more segment when we come back, and
then we will bring in Moegar for quick hits and
pass the baton to him for the Molager Show. All
part of our training camp coverage. Thanks to AE Door
and Windows. Special thanks to Adam Weber as well for
all his continued support of the Bengals and for making
this happen today, yesterday, and eight more times throughout Bengals
(01:56:51):
training camp. We'll be back next on ESBN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station, home of the Bengals.
Speaker 32 (01:56:56):
Experience the value of expert ado, how do you repair
at airport?
Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
Talk about since een three sixty. Thanks to our Branchspend station,
we're listening here on the whole of the banks ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, we are I've done this
today at the practice fields here at pay Course Stadium
thanks to AE Door and Window. They sell the best
and they service the rest. We got Moagor coming up
(01:57:24):
in just a few minutes. Austin. I talked to him
about this off the earlier today. I've got a serious
issue going on at the Pike Household, and we have
enough folks on this show that are in the landscaping
business that might be able to help me out. If
you'll allow me a second. Here, can I tell you
before I left for vacation, Landon's long care help you
(01:57:45):
with this, I'm hoping. So before I left for vacation,
I cut the lawn and while cutting, there's an old
tree stump in our backyard. The tree fell over and
we cut the tree up, but the stump is still
there and it kind of lifts up to where you
can get underneath it. And as I was cutting, I
(01:58:06):
have headphones in and I just felt a pinch on
my leg and I looked down and there was a
yellow jacket in.
Speaker 4 (01:58:14):
My calfyn Sidney llow jackets.
Speaker 2 (01:58:18):
As I started to run away, they kept chasing me.
Two more stung me.
Speaker 4 (01:58:22):
It's what we do, we swarm.
Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
I couldn't walk normally for five days. On the start
of my vacation, it was swollen up so bad. I
almost went to the uh the urgent care. It was
unbelievable how swollen it was. And so I get home
and last night before I left, I'm sorry. I take
a whole bottle of rate and I sprayed it at
(01:58:44):
night because I know what it will do it during
the day, I sprayed it underneath the stump and I'm like,
that'll show these guys. I'll get home sure, and things
will be good. I got home last night, I started
cutting the grass and about forty of these things came
up as soon as I got clothes. Yeah. So what
do I do most in life when I'm in need?
I call my father. Of course, he says, I got
(01:59:06):
some equipment, I'll be over And I didn't know what
he meant by equipment. He showed up in sweatpants and
a sweatshirt, uh oh, and a hat. That was his equipment, right,
that he's just pretaking his skin. Yeah, he thinks that
made him like these things aren't going to get through that.
And he brought over a spray bottle and he said,
I researched this, and all we need is some down
dish soap. Okay, And so for three hours last night,
(01:59:29):
every hour on the hour, we sprayed dawn dish soap
into this stump. And it was nighttime, so the bees
weren't as agitated. We saw a bunch of bees go
in Austin. No bees came out. Sure, for three hours,
so I'm like, cool, Great. I woke up this morning
it looked like Grand Central Station out there again. Thirty
(01:59:51):
forty to fifty bees going into this thing, coming out
of this thing, swarming. And now I'm at a point
where I'm nervous because the kids get home. Where did
the kids play back? Kids get stung? Then we got
a whole nother problem, sure, based on what these things
did to me. So I need our long care experts
to tell me what to do to get.
Speaker 4 (02:00:10):
I think I know the answer to this. I've seen
this a lot on the internet in the past.
Speaker 2 (02:00:15):
If you're gonna say boiling water. We took three No,
it's a boiling water down it last night as well.
Gasoline and then light it.
Speaker 4 (02:00:22):
No, don't light it. Oh but I know you you'd
have to look this up, ask you chat, GPT or
Google or YouTube or something. But I've seen people, and
I don't know what the exactly your setup looks like,
but I've seen people say, like, you get gasoline and
like fill it up halfway and then yours is in
(02:00:45):
the ground. So it's difficulty. So I don't know how
you would do this, but basically gasoline destroys them. Okay,
so maybe look that up. My word, but I've seen them.
I've seen people think about this. So there's like an
nest hanging from like a gutter or something, right, Yes,
I've seen those pictures. Yeah, picture that, and then you
have a cup and you fill it halfway with gasoline
(02:01:08):
and then you put the cup over the nest and
they just fall out basically.
Speaker 2 (02:01:14):
Yep, and die. As we're talking right now, my dad
just texts me. Yeah, he said, I'll be by the
house later. I'm bringing a pickaxe. Oh boy, we're gonna
dig down deep and find the queen. I don't I
don't think that's something I want to do.
Speaker 4 (02:01:29):
That's a whole different story. Like you need a professional
for that. Yeah, for the queen, you need a professional.
Speaker 2 (02:01:34):
Like I'm worried about how deep down into the ground
this yellow jacket nest goes. I don't based on how
many I've seen flying in and out of there.
Speaker 4 (02:01:43):
I also don't know if it's safe to pour gasoline
like into the ground, So don't take my advice.
Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
Well, somebody listen if you're out there and you got
the answer, Tony Underscore Pike fifteen. Yeah, and we'll try
it tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:01:57):
But uh, you gotta be careful because, like if you've
ever seen those b people on TikTok or whatever, those
nests can be a whole lot bigger and more elaborate
than you.
Speaker 2 (02:02:08):
Yeah, I said, they can be like tunnels under your grass.
Speaker 4 (02:02:11):
Right, So so Pickaxe, I would I would stay.
Speaker 2 (02:02:14):
Just his idea is the deeper we can dig down,
the more access he'll get.
Speaker 4 (02:02:18):
It's not good.
Speaker 2 (02:02:19):
I don't know if that's the right way to do it.
Speaker 4 (02:02:20):
And you're gonna get stung a lot if you do that,
Yeah a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:02:24):
Yep. Mowiger's next this is since he three sixty. It's
on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station. UH real quick
one more time. Thank you to all that are making
this possible. UH for Bengals Training Camp, AE Door and Window.
Also thanks to uh TOF five to one three five
one three t O P eight Cincinnati Tax Resolution, thanks
(02:02:47):
to Oakley Greens, thanks to Airport Paint and Body. Thanks
to Ray Saint Clair, and thank you for listening. Mowiger
is next for quick hits on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports.
Speaker 1 (02:02:56):
Station, Cincinnati.
Speaker 10 (02:02:59):
Make us the number one said on your car radio
and on the free new and improved iHeartRadio app. Free
never sounded so good.
Speaker 3 (02:03:05):
ESPN fifteen thirty from the bron Heating Temp Star Weather Center,
here's your forecast.
Speaker 4 (02:03:11):
This report is sponsored by Low's Pro Savings.
Speaker 1 (02:03:14):
DAYSPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's Sports station. It's time for since
E three sixty quick hits on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 2 (02:03:24):
You're darn right it is. I am still down here
at Bengals training camp. Thanks to our our friends at
AE Door and Window. They sell the best and service
the rest. But Moagger is in studio. Hey ready Hi
the next three hours?
Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (02:03:40):
What's up, mo Eggman?
Speaker 3 (02:03:42):
Is that what we're calling me?
Speaker 5 (02:03:43):
Now?
Speaker 2 (02:03:44):
No, you're the captain.
Speaker 3 (02:03:46):
I am the captain. I am ESPN fifteen thirty's team captain,
which I can be because I actually show up to work.
Speaker 2 (02:03:53):
True.
Speaker 3 (02:03:54):
I was told during our show this morning. I got
a text from my cousin who said, I have never
heard you go after anybody the way you went after
Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 2 (02:04:04):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:04:05):
And I'm not backing down.
Speaker 4 (02:04:06):
Lamb bastard him.
Speaker 3 (02:04:07):
I lamb basted him. So we're gonna talk about captain,
want to be Trey Hendrickson and how I went after
him today because I am right.
Speaker 2 (02:04:16):
Nice on the show.
Speaker 3 (02:04:18):
Well, Uh, the Reds and are you a Heineo Suarez?
There's mutual interest. Are you a Heineosuarez? Go for it,
Let's go. I cannot stand not acting out of fear,
and I'm gonna try to convince my fellow Reds fans.
Let's not talk about this out of fear. Let's not
be afraid. Let's not be scared anymore. Let's not be
(02:04:42):
looking at our shadow being afraid of it. Let's not
be scared anymore. So we're gonna spend some time on
that chapter.
Speaker 2 (02:04:50):
First of all, what what should we be afraid of?
That they're gonna mortgage some prospects and we're gonna continue
to do the same thing we've been doing every year.
Speaker 3 (02:04:57):
I think there's a tremendous amount of fear. Like, well, Lena,
what if we trained Cam Collier and he ends up
being pretty good? Okay?
Speaker 2 (02:05:03):
Good?
Speaker 3 (02:05:03):
Fine? Like Okay, stop worrying. Stop worrying about twenty twenty eight,
Stop worrying about twenty twenty nine. How about twenty twenty five.
Make the playoffs? Maybe Ayohanio Suarez can help them do that.
I think the Noah fan discourse is ridiculous. I'm tired
of hearing about the positions that he doesn't play. So
(02:05:24):
I'm gonna I'm gonna turn into elementary school teacher and
break this down for everybody and help you understand why
it makes sense to at least try to sign Noah
fan or kick the tires if you will kick the time.
We have Tony Pike giving us hourly training camp reports
three forty five, four forty five, and five forty five.
Chad Brenda starts joining us on Thursdays because uce Fall
(02:05:44):
camp starts next week, and Jordan Crawford, the former Xavier Star,
is going to be here on Saturday, part of the
Big Three. He is going to join us at five
point thirty three. There's a little kid in New Jersey
who is being suspended by Little League Baseball for flipping
his bat chance. This is already know how I feel
about that, and we will remember Halcogan as well.
Speaker 4 (02:06:03):
By the way, I did hear that Nick crawl and
the Reds checked in on Noah Fan? Did they while
he was in Cincinnati today?
Speaker 3 (02:06:09):
I don't know if there there is not a city
in the world that that that has more instances of
a team checking in, showing interest or kicking the tires.
Speaker 2 (02:06:19):
Are you more passionate about Trey Hendrickson and your stance there?
Or bat flips?
Speaker 3 (02:06:23):
Bat flips? That says a lot bat flips? I think.
I think how you feel about bat flip says something
about you. I believe that whole hardly. I'm not joking, right,
I think how you feel about bad flips tells me
how I It tells me what I need to.
Speaker 2 (02:06:39):
Know about you.
Speaker 3 (02:06:40):
Yeah, And you know my rule, You know my I
don't follow people on Twitter. Yeah, folks who I've been
following free. No, I'll follow you if you're anti bad flip,
but I will not follow you. And this has been
the case now for a while. Unless you have in
your bio how you feel about bat flips. I think
that is the sort of thing that everybody should be
transparent about.
Speaker 2 (02:06:58):
Okay, have you do you have a chance or have
you watched much Big Three?
Speaker 9 (02:07:04):
Well?
Speaker 3 (02:07:04):
Here and there?
Speaker 2 (02:07:04):
Yeah, I think Lan Stevenson has been great for Big Three.
Speaker 3 (02:07:07):
He has been I'm gonna ask he just fought Jordan Crawford.
I got into a fight a few weeks ago, remember that,
So I'm gonna ask Jordan about that.
Speaker 2 (02:07:14):
You're You're probably asked the same amount of time I am.
And we got this today as we were sitting down here.
How's Jucy football gonna be? It's probably the question I've
received most and I respond every time the same way.
I have no idea. I like to think that they
have good core pieces, NFL talent pieces returning. I like
(02:07:37):
to think that they hit home runs in the transfer portal.
But the honest truth is I have no idea how
they're gonna come together, and I have no idea how
it's gonna pan out when they they take the practice
field and eventually play Game one against Nebraska. How do
you feel about the question?
Speaker 3 (02:07:54):
I think it's all about Brendan Sorosby and I that
sounds like a cop out answer, but like they were
five and two and Brendan Sorosby was playing very well. Right,
they lost that game the Texas Tech. But we said
to each other, like, if that's the caliber of offense
they have the rest of the season, this team's gonna
have a good year. And then, for whatever reason, Brendan
Soorsby's play significantly regressed. Does that continue or is there
(02:08:18):
an off season where now he takes the field, he's
better week one and he only gets better the rest
of the way. Than I think this team has a
chance to be all right. I make it about that
because when I think of how they finished the season
last year, I think of two things. I think of
special teams. Special teams was terrible last year, especially down
the stretch where they lost those last five. They have
(02:08:41):
a new special teams coach. Nothing against Kerry Combs, but
can it get significantly better this year for a team
that has to win games in the margins? I think
of that, and I think of an offense that totally
went in its shell and that has to change. I
hear about NFL talent on the team, but they had
some NFL players last year. Joe Royer. I was gonna say,
(02:09:02):
Josh Wiley, Joe Joe Royer was on the team last season.
We love Joe Royer, but did they totally take advantage
of what they had? And I thought Brandon Sorozby got
gun shy. He cannot be gun shy Game one against Nebraska.
I've said this and maybe you guys will agree. This
Nebraska game reminds me of the UCLA game. Look fickle
second season. Now that UCLA team ended up not being
(02:09:23):
very good, but remember that season, it was best case
they go six and six. They have been terrible the
year before. It was fickle. Second year, they go to
the Rose Bowl and they win going away, and it
made people physical out physical, tom out tough to them.
It made people perk up. Scott Saddlefield's got to have
something that makes people perk up. And I think if
they lose Week one, folks are gonna go cool. I'm good.
(02:09:46):
I'm not gonna perk up when you win some games
in the Big twelve. I think this is a golden
opportunity for UC football in a game against a Big
Ten team a neutral field that's not gonna be all
that neutral. I don't care about what they do in
the Big Twelve in terms of just energizing the fan base.
Week one, go beat Nebraska, and I think people will
perk up, and then we'll be able to better answer
(02:10:09):
questions about how they'll be once the Big Twelve season
gets here to.
Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
Be fair minus a handful of teams. Do you think
that that's how many cities and college teams are approaching
that question because of just how the day and age
of the transfer portal is.
Speaker 3 (02:10:23):
Yes, but I think there are a lot of teams
that go, what do we have at quarterback? Unfortunately, we're
doing that with a guy who started every game last year,
and I like Brandon. You've spent time with him, like
he's a guy who checks so many boxes in tangibles.
Leadership treats it like a job, you know, recruiting guys
to come from other programs. But the play in the
(02:10:43):
second half of the season last year was not good enough,
and so what you would have hoped for is last
year that whatever they did, we would go into this
year knowing here's the quarterback play they're gonna get like
it's not a fair comparison. But with the Bengals and
Joe Burrow, we go, I got an MVP caliber quarterback.
Is what is in Soresby? We don't know, but yeah,
you're right. With this era that we're in in college football,
(02:11:05):
where now the Big Twelve at the Big Ten at
their media day, the goofball commissioner, he wants teams that
go like five and seven to make the playoffs as
long as they you know, do reasonably okay in the
Big Ten, I guess. But in this era that we're
in in college football, I feel like there's a lot
of fans of the sport, hardcore fans of the sport,
that if you ask them about their team, they'll go,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:11:24):
Lastly, before I let you go, Jeremy Row was saved today.
Yeah by Mike Petralia. Yeah, what did you make of
Mike Petralia's banana outfit?
Speaker 3 (02:11:34):
Here's the thing. I saw the banana outfit bought at Kroger.
Bought a Kroger. I didn't know. I didn't know that
Mike liked bananas that much. Here's the thing like there
are certain things that like, let's say Jamar Chase was
giving him a hard time. If Jamar Chase wore that,
it'd be like, Jamar is looking good, I gotta get
(02:11:55):
a banana shirt. Like and we see some of this
with Joe Burrow. Joe Burrow wear some stuff that it's
like if you or I were that, we'd be laughed
out of the room. But he does it. It's all
about who wears it. So I saw Mike Petrelli and
I said, it's not working for him. But if somebody
else tried to wear that, we would talk about what
a fashion icon they are. You know this is true.
You know this is true. If I were Seinfeld sweatpants
(02:12:18):
to work, you wouldn't even let me.
Speaker 4 (02:12:20):
In the building.
Speaker 3 (02:12:20):
Burrow does it, and it's like, oh, yeah, he's got swag.
Speaker 2 (02:12:24):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (02:12:24):
He's got swag, that's it.
Speaker 2 (02:12:26):
Yeah, to match.
Speaker 3 (02:12:29):
What is the biggest fashion fol Paul, you have ever
been guilty of?
Speaker 2 (02:12:32):
Man, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:12:34):
I'll tell you what mine was.
Speaker 2 (02:12:35):
I guess today we wearing the shorts and shirt that
I wore because I got heat for that of how
I dressed a training camp.
Speaker 3 (02:12:41):
I was the last to get the memo about cargo shorts.
And I was the last to get to the memo
In the mid nineties about jorts. I was a freshman
at UDI and this girl said to me, Hey, you know,
you're the only kid on campus in jorts. And I'm like,
looks like, I am your damn right, I am, and
then shout out to her. My sister in law, who
(02:13:04):
before I was married, on vacation, said to me once,
how many pairs of cargo shorts do you have? I'm like,
I don't know, four or five. She's like that number
should be closer to zero. And then I looked around
and everybody's like, yeah, yeah, so you need people like that.
Speaker 2 (02:13:18):
You check you. Yeah, I've got to check you. Hey, Mo,
Wager is next.
Speaker 14 (02:13:24):
Mo.
Speaker 2 (02:13:24):
Thanks, we'll uh, we'll we'll talk here in the next hour.
Speaker 3 (02:13:27):
You got it.
Speaker 2 (02:13:28):
In the hour after that, in the hour after that,
seventy three sixty is done. The Mowaiger Show is coming
up next on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 4 (02:13:50):
Don't get caught off guard by the Elements
