They play Philadelphia tomorrow at TQL Stadium. That is a massive, big, one,
massive opportunity. And then the team that's two point behind
FC Cincinnati is Nashville. They welcome Nashville in next week,
so this is a this is a huge stretch coming

up for for Cincinnati. Tom Gallader will join us to
talk all things FC since and I'm sorry the Nashville
is that's September thirteenth, so there is a I believe
week per week in between. But that is the next
two opponents as teams that are bookending FC Cincinnati in

the Reds were off last night, but they didn't make
up some ground because the Marlins beat the Mets, which
means the Reds will enter their series opener against the
Saint Louis Cardinals tonight four games out of the National
League Wild Card. We have to do it. Let's talk
about it. Really want to do it. But we'll spend
time here and now we're number one talking about the good,

the bad, and the ugly in an opener. That's all
the Bearcats lose. When victory felt like it was in
the grass at least overtime felt like it was a
legit possibility. And here we are talking about the Bearcats
being zero to one. You'll hear from Scott Saderfield. You

what's next, and we'll try to make sense of what
happened last night at Arrowhead Stadium.

To be honest, I'm still trying to make sense of
what happened after the game ended at Arrowhead Stadium last night,
As if my head wasn't buzzing already from listening to
the crowd noise for four quarters of what felt like
I legitimately think about ninety eight percent Nebraska fans. Arrowhead
Stadium has set records for noise levels in the National

Football League. Those noise levels had to be closed last night.
I've been in a lot of road venues. I've played
on the road. I have covered uc on the road
in a lot of venues, and I don't recall many
other evenings where the noise was that that deafening.

Yeah, it came through on television too, unbelieve I tell
you that I was watching the game last night. It
definitely came through on television, and the commentary team on
ESPN made sure that you knew that this is a
home game for Cincinnati technically, even though did.

I think right after Sorosby's interception, Yes.

Was It was fun. Got to catch up with Jason
and Travis Kelsey before the game. Obviously, Taylor Swift was
up in the suite. That was a big deal. Drew
you mentioned before the show. There's no doubting her love
for Travis Kelsey.

She went to watch it an ranked neutral site college
football game on a Thursday in August that much of
the night it seemed smitten. Oh yeah, sitting next to Travis,
but very much they were there through the whole game.
Patrick Mahomes pieced out early yeah, right, which killed killed
Ryola probably, but yeah, you cannot tell me that this

isn't true love, because unbelievable. She sat through all all
forty two passing yards of Brendan sorosby last night or
whatever the number.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Was, it was thirty five going into the last drive.
It was. It was a tough loss. And we'll break
down the loss me personally, which was even tougher. Drew
is you know after the game. This is the kind
of behind the scenes after the game, from the time
I was playing to the time I've been doing sideline reporting. Normally,

it's about forty five minutes to an hour. Once that
final whistle blows. You get in the locker room, you
do your your your post game treatment, you do your
your interviews, whatever you need to do for radio. You
you wrap up your post game show, and then you
hustle out to the bus and normally forty five minutes
to an hour after the game, you're departing on the
road to get to the airport last night was well

over two hours after the game concluded. I don't know
what the hold up was, but it was uncomfortably long
sitting on the bus after the game ended, waiting and
then it was about a forty five minute drive to
the airport and then for some reason drew. The folks
working with Allegiant must have thought it was ninety eight

degrees outside, because I've never been in a colder cabin
of an airplane, and what it was last.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Night, that's yeah, that all sounds miserable.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
It was free like, I mean, freezing, freezing. I'm like,
is it did the temperatures drop? Is it ten degrees outside?
It was unbearable. Ended up getting back to a CVG.
I got home. I walked in my front door this
morning at about six fifteen. I'm not a plane sleeper.

I can't sleep on the planes either, am. I laid
my head down for a couple minutes and then you
hear the the welcoming sign of a one year old
baby waking up, and from there, as they say, the

a couple other things that have happened. I mentioned that
the Mets lost last night with the Reds off, that
means it is a four game gap between the Mets
and the Cincinnati Reds. Talked about FC Cincinnati and Philadelphia.
How about last night? Twenty one times in Major League
Baseball history has a player now hit four home runs

in a game Middletown Zone, Kyle Schwarber became the twenty
first player to do so last night.

He's making a legitimate charge at the National League Most Valuablelace,
a legitimate charge. And it's you know, going into this season,
I knew Schwarber was a free agent. I was kind
of hoping, Okay, maybe I'll have like kind of a
down year, you know, not a terrible year, but like
kind of a down year. Maybe his market isn't as
you know, expensive as it could be. And he decided, Nope,

I'm gonna go ahead and have an MVP caliber season
and then get paid this offseason.

Yep, he is, uh, he is undoubtedly gonna get paid
a lot of money, a lot of money. I do
you have a team that you would pull for in
the National League if the Reds don't make it.

Uh, it would probably be the Phillies, mostly because of
Kyle Schwarber. I like some of the other guys too.
I've always been a Trey Turner guy, just kind of
like like how he plays.

Zach Wheel for the year.

Yep, that's that definitely, Yeah, that definitely hurts them.

But I look at the Phillies. I also like the
Seattle Mariners. Yeah, if we're talking in an American League.

Yeah, if we're also including the American League, I definitely
would root for the Seattle Mayor. I have a I've
always had a soft spot for the Seatle Mariners, dating
back to you know, Griffy playing there. I've watched and yeah,
consumed any like nineties Mariners content that I can right now.
So I've always kind of had a soft spot for
the Mariner.

Today, Schwarber is still plus five hundred, He's second highest
odds in the NL, behind Otani, who's minus nine hundred. Yeah,
speaking of the Mariners, you want to talk about a
two horse race. Aaron Judge minus one sixty in the
American League, Cal Raleigh, the big Dumper plus one twenty five.

I'd sprinkle, I'd sprinkle that on on rally.

It is a two horse race because Raleigh is second
at plus one twenty five and then Bobby Wait Junior

That is a substantial, substantial amount you want to speak

Wheeler was his biggest competition. Yeah for that, for that award,
and now that he's out for the year, Yeah, that's

About that last night, not only did that see the
University of Cincinnati play and fall on the road, but
it also saw Miami. The RedHawks went into Camp Randall
drew and they played well last night. That was a
three to nothing lead for Wisconsin at halftime, it was

ten to nothing after three. Wisconsin ends up winning seventeen
to nothing in the game. But I think if you're
Miami you can take a lot away from that game
last night, going on the road, tough environment and holding
Wisconsin to seventeen. Obviously you want to shure up some
stuff on the offensive side of the ball. But I
know we don't give out participation trophies and feel good losses.

But I thought Miami showed pretty well in a couple
different aspects last night, No doubt, no doubt.

That's you know, that is notoriously one of the hardest
places to play in college football, regardless of how good
or bad Wisconsin is. So credit to them, A couple
of mac teams. Yeah, showing some fight against the Big ten,
the ou Bobcats. Yes, given Rutgers is scare last night one.

It was thirty one thirty one going into the fourth
quarter in Piscataway. I believe Rutgers is now going to
welcome Miami next week.

Well, they better be ready to play then, Max showing up.

Speaking of being ready to play, twenty five twenty fifth
rank Boise State was not ready to play. No, they
were not. They led seven to nothing after one, and
then they gave up thirty four straight. South Florida the
Bulls Home Dogs win thirty four to seven last night.
And it wasn't that close.

I mean, I watched that game in the lead up
to UC and Nebraska and man Boise State scored. You thought,
all right, here we go. And then from that point
forward it was all bulls, all bulls.

Yep. Not only that Bearcats were also home dog, so
that would have been cool, but they really weren't home Dog.
And then, of course the big news yesterday, Michah Parsons
got traded. Micah Parsons goes from Dallas to Green Bay.
Now I had heard the rumblings of you know, Micah

Parsons and would they trade him. I never thought the
Cowboys would trade one of the best players in the
NFL to the Green Bay Packers. Never, never did I
think I would see it. Now, in order to land
Micah Parsons, they sent two first round picks and defensive

tackle Kenny Clark, who was a Pro bowler to the
Dallas Cowboys. So the Cowboys load up on some draft picks,
they get a very good defensive tackle in return, and
I believe Micah Parsons is now going to make forty
seven million dollars per year. Yeah, in that range.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Also, Adam Schefter was talking about this on Sports Center
with Scott van Pelt last night. As soon as that
trade came out, there were about three executives that reached
out to Schefter and said, we could have beaten that offer. Unreal,
very Luka Doncic esque. I think Jerry Jones was trying
to prove who the most incompetent GM is in Dallas
to Nico Harrison there.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
What what is happening in Dallas? Has there ever been
anything to the equivalent of what Dallas has done in
a calendar year? I don't Moving on from Luca and
Micah Parsons, I don't think so.

And there there's a picture that I tweeted it out
yesterday at Drew by w of Parsons holding a Doncic
Dallas jersey and Donci holding a Parsons Cowboys jersey, And
that was taken less than a year ago.

Which is more shocking.

I still think it's Luca. Yeah, I still I remember
this because the thing with Luca, the thing with Parsons
rather is you this viewd he was having with Jones
has been very public for like a month. Yeah, so
like you knew that those two sides were not seeing
eye to eye. There was nothing that pointed to Luka
Doncic being traded at all, yep, and then all of

a sudden it just came out of nowhere. So I
still think Doncic was the most shocking one. Yeah, but
even still still shocking dis day. I think this is
this is probably what the biggest trade involving a pass
rusher since oh my gosh.

Yes, yeah, it remarkable. And to do it if you're
Jerry Jones within a NFC.

Rival correct, not just like another NFC team, right, the
green Bay Packers who have famously like beaten your doors off, Yeah,
in the two thousands.

It'd be one thing like NFC. You send them to
like Tampa, right, or you know, Arizona or something like that,
The Packers, Cowboys, Packers, those storied rivalry games. And you
send one of the best best pass rushers in the NFL.

Who you play in Week four on Sunday Night Football? Unbelievable?

Does it? Does it put Green Bay in the contender
category in the NFC?

I think it does. I think you pair Parsons with
Rashaun Gary. The health of Jordan Love is gonna determine
a lot of it.

To me, it's about love, because I think I've said
this before Love can come out and throw for three fifty,
but he could also go into the last drive of
the game like we saw last night with thirty five
passing yards. Right, He's just he's so up and down.
Who who is your list? Because I would I would
assume AFC, Buffalo, Baltimore, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Yep, are those teams?

Those are the four? Those are the four. Who in
the NFC do you put in that upper tier?

Eagles? I'm still high on the Lions. Yeah, even though
they lost their coordinators. Me and Austin kind of talked
about that on Monday. I'm still pretty high on the Lions.
I think the Packers kind of enter into that tier.
The Rams are interesting. I feel like they're always kind
of in that in that area. The Packers Super Bowl

odds moved from thirteen to one to twelve the one
after the Parsons. Okay, so not you know, extreme movement,
but movement towards being less you know, less odds to
them for them to win the Super Bowl.

Yeah. I also like Tampas as a contender in the NF.

Yeah, you just never know in the NFC South, who's gonna.

But again, I mean they lose Cohen, which I think

That was fun. One of two Brendan Sowersby rushing touchdowns
last night. He was very effective as a runner, and
I think overall the running game as a whole was
very effective last night for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Unfortunately, the
uh the passing game did not match that, as Swersby

finished the day with sixty nine passing yards. I believe
Drew he went into the last series with thirty five.
So with two minutes left in the game in a
three point game, they had thirty five passing yards, which
means on the last drive they essentially doubled up their
total from the game. That series unfortunately ended with a interception,

which also means this drew six straight losses dating back
to the last year for the Cincinnati Bearcats. I saw
our friends at a Bearcat journal tweeted out earlier that
the six or more game losing streaks that have happened
over the last thirty years. In nineteen ninety eight, the
Bearcats lost nine in a row. In twenty twenty three,

they lost seven in a row. And right now they
are in the midst of a six game losing streak
from last year into this year. Only three times have
there been a six or more game losing streak in
the last thirty years of UC football. They are in
one right now. I find it hard to believe that
would go to seven. But you got Eddie George and

the Bowling Green Falcons coming in to Knippert Stadium next week.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
They for the second year in a row, Bowling Green
returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown insane.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
That's great saying, and had a very good outpouring of
support of former OSU players and coaches on the sideline
for Reddy George. I saw urban was there Joey Galloway
and many others to obviously support Eddie George and his
opener with Bowling Green. The Bearcats last night rushed it
drew twenty nine times for two hundred and two yards.

That's good for seven yards a pop. Defensively, they gave
up one hundred and thirteen yards rushing on thirty five carries.
They held in the brash get a three point two
yards per carry. They ran it for seven yards of carry.
I thought they looked great on the point of attack
offensively and defensively. Yeah, I completely agree.

And you know, if you just could have opened up
the passing game a little, a little, a little.

I think of what those seven yard games would have
been if you had a legitimate passing threat.

Last night, Well, they flashed so Orersby's numbers right before
his second rushing touchdown to cut the lead back to three.
It was ten of eighteen I think for thirty three yards.
And I legitimately, like, you know, I watched the whole game,
so I can't be right, but I legitimately thought the
graphic was wrong. Yeah, I was like, that doesn't feel
right at all, And then I checked the app, checked

the stats on UC's website all corroborated what I was seeing.
I was proud, like that is that's unbelieved, especially when
you have a player like Royer, who is, you know,
a first round pick in a lot of you know talent,
you know draft evaluators eyes you think he would you
would get him a little bit more involved if your
wide receivers aren't creating any separation.

to fathom. Hard to fathom what that was last night

from what I saw last night. Just as a TV viewer,
I think they can get the seven wins, and I

Yeah, you know, Greg, I thought they were as physical,
if not more physical, than Nebraska. Now, Nebraska, they have
a very favorable schedule in Lincoln this year. They avoid
Ohio State, they avoid some of the other top teams
in the Big Ten. They play from a preseason standpoint,

they only play two ranked teams all year. They don't
play Oregon, they don't play Ohio State. There are people
that view Nebraska as a dark horse Big Ten contender.
I thought you see was more physical and one on
the line of scrimmage last night, which I think says
a lot. I thought the defense looked light years ahead

of where they were, and while they don't have maybe
the top end talent in the secondary, I thought they
flew around and they were aggressive, and they looked confident
in what they were doing. I just I need to
see more from the offense. I heard all off season
about how good the receiving corps had been, and they
were essentially non existent last night. I heard all off

season about how good Swersby has looked. The passing game
just wasn't there last night. I think because of UC's schedule.
I'm with you, they win the next two, they go back,
we stay at the same hotel when they play Kansas
three games from now. I think they could go into
that Kansas game. Obviously at two to one, you get

three wins there. But you seem much like I think Nebraska.
They only have one ranked opponent on the schedule, and
that's Iowa State at home. Outside of that, I see
a lot of winnable games on this schedule for U.
See if they can put forth the effort they did
last night, I think they can find a way, And
I with you, I think they can get the seven
or eight wins.

game last night absolutely disgusted me. The offensive side of

nine midget leprechaun wide receivers that in the Big twelve
Conference there's going to be a lot of busier, more physical,
more taller defensive backs and corners that can easily go
up and get the ball over the wide receivers. Look,
I'm not a kiss up, and but I did graduate
from UC. Now people are talking about they can easily

get the seven or eight wins. Well, I think they
can easily get to seven or eight losses. I don't
care what anybody.

And if they get to seven or eight losses, I
hope the school president and the board of trustees stop
in quickly, I mean intervene quickly and fire the football
coach and the athletic director for recruiting this bunch as
a bunch of coaches. The coach was shown the door
from Louisville, like here go, we don't watch anymore. And

then what does UC do? They go sign the guy up.

It's ridiculous. I mean, to me, the offense when he
runs the offense as a joke, you know, I mean,

was frustrating in so many ways. And I think one
of the biggest problems is that I I thought on
paper that it would be very hard to stop the offense,
and maybe so going forward, because if you're running for
seven yards of care, you're gonna open up stuff in
the passing game. They need to find more ways to
get Royer involved. I agree with that, but they got

to get some work done on the outside. They're not
all now now Keith used the term there drew leper cons.
They don't have leper couns. Jeff Cadwell is six'. Five
they don't have all leper cons out. There but, again
this is that was the first, game that was the
first big time environment for a lot of those. PLAYERS
