ESPN fifteen thirty, the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Come on now you.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Come on, we go, Here we go, Here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Welcome in, Happy Friday, Happy Friday Football Frenzy. Let's start
with that. It's cinty three to sixty Friday Football Frenzy.
You're listening on ESBN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, or
via the iHeartRadio app. Leave us a talkback. We'll get
to the talkbacks at hour number two, and then we'll
give away a CINTI Shirts gift card.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I hope we hear this a lot at pay Court Stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
They ideally that would be good.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
Can the Jaguars be stopped?
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Can they hold the Jags to under twenty? I sure
hope so what number defensively wins it?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
On Sunday? Do we know? I would we think twenty
or less?
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Okay, twenty or less. Now before the season, we would
have said thirty or less. Yeah, now we're at twenty
or less. I think that's because Jacksonville's good. Okay, the
Bengals offense did not look great and the defense performed well,
So you kind of shift the expectations a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Game two, let's see, if you're for real, can you
hold a team under twenty at home in the home opener?
Speaker 3 (02:19):
There it is.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
We'll talk about they did last year. They did under
twenty last year the home opener. We'll talk about this
one on Sunday. For much of our number one, let
me just go through what today consists of and let
you know now that if you want to call in today,
I would urge you to call in in our number
one or leave us a talkback. We've got Charlie Goldsmith
(02:43):
at one o'clock. Of course, we've got your talkbacks.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
After that, we have Tom Galladro with FC Cincinnati hosting Nashville.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
That's a big one for the Orange and Blue.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
At two o'clock, we'll make our weekly Picks at two
twenty we are. We have Brenneman and Jones baseball. At
the end of the show, we've got a couple different
football in the natties. We'll get to we've got a
call of the night, and we've got a couple different
check ins. From what I understand, Austin with Moegger today.
Who's at rally house? That's correct. Okay, that's a lot
(03:11):
going on on a Friday.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
He's like four hundred yards away from us at a
rally house across the street. Okay, and we're gonna talk
to him twice in our number one. We're gonna talk
to him twice in our number two, and I'm looking
forward to those conversations.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Okay, So get your calls in now, because this is
a little bit of a frenzy today on this Friday.
Oh yeah, and we'll add in some football as well.
Speaking of football, how about Thursday night football?
Speaker 3 (03:41):
Last night?
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Unfortunate news for the Washington Commanders. It is believed to
be feared that Austin Eckler tore his achilles last night. Now,
if you remember, they just moved on from there. Running
back from last year, Brian Robinson Junior before the season started, correct,
So slim pickings right now for Washington at running back.
(04:03):
The injuries were not just on the Washington side though.
Josh Reid broke his collarbone last night, or Jayden Reid,
I'm sorry, broke his collar bone last night in the
Packers win over the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
I know a guy who plays fantasy football and on
his team he has Austin Eckler and Jayden Reid. Oh boy,
that person's name is Austin Elmore. Oh boy, tough night
for me last night. Not a good night for you
last night. Thankfully, both of those guys were on my bench. Sure,
(04:39):
and we're gonna have to put them on the injury service.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Not a good night for your fantasy team. A good
night for the Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 5 (04:47):
All those fantasy owners now are going to be feeling
justified in Bill Krosky Merritt Oh to replace Austin Eckler.
So I'm sure he'll get a lot of that. He
got the ball like five times last night. It was
the five best plays on offense for Washington.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Rington.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Yeah, because as I think you were about to get
to the Green Bay defense last night, they were all
over the place. Yes, so fast, so physical, so disruptive,
held Jade and Daniels in the pocket, didn't allow more
than twenty five yards on the ground. Whole offense was
out of sync as it typically is on a Thursday night.
(05:20):
That was a very impressive performance by the green Bay Packers. Yeah,
Micah Parsons, and they're still limiting his snaps. He hit
the quarterback three times last night, got credited with a
half sack, two more tackles. He looks good, and I
think because of him, so many others looked good. Rashan
Gary looked explosive last night. The secondary Austin looked like
(05:42):
it played with no fear last night. They did not
fear Washington at all because they know that the front
four are going to get home more often than not
and they won't have to cover as long. They held
Jaden Daniels to twenty four or forty two on the
night twenty four or forty two. They sacked him four times.
He did throw two touchdown passes, one to Zach Ertz
(06:03):
and the other to Deebo Samuel. But outside of that
top to bottom man dominant from the green Bay Packers,
Josh Jacobs has scored a touchdown in ten straight games.
Tucker Kraft the tight end, six catches, one hundred and
twenty four yards and a touchdown. Green Bay Austin, to me,
is so unique because they don't have the one star
(06:26):
studded wide receiver, but Jordan Love spreads the ball out
really well. I think he almost threw for two hundred
yards in the first half. A quieter second half, but
he finished nineteen to thirty one for two ninety two
and two touchdowns. We talked about this after their Week
one victory. Green Bay looks the part as an absolute
(06:47):
NFC contender.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:49):
Keep in mind, I think a lot of people forget
this was a team that was fifth in total defense
a year ago, and they've added Michael Parsons to that.
I think they had almost forty five fifty sacks last
year without Parsons. They add that to it, and then
on top of that, they've got a good enough offense
to be really good. Tucker Kraft was all over the
place last night. Could be a breakout year for him.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Man, they look good.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Pretty impressive start to beat the Lions and the Commanders
at home. Their next two are road trips to Cleveland
in Dallas, and then they host the Bengals.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Yeah, after a bye week, So the Bengals to get
the Packers coming out of a bye week at lambeau Field,
so be gonna be interesting.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Do you still, because it's so brief into the season,
you still make Philly the team to beat in the NFC?
Speaker 7 (07:36):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (07:36):
Yeah as of now. Yeah, it's too early.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
To also happening last night, Austin, I watched the first
inning last night of the Mets and the Phillies. The
game was on National TV, so I'm sitting there and
messing with the kiddos a little bit, and I flipped
the game on because I'm like, let's see, let's see
if these Mets struggles can continue. And before the Phillies
(07:59):
even came to bat, it was for nothing Mets, and
so I turned it off. I'm like, well, there goes that.
And then I flipped it on later to see the
Phillies had come back and scored the next six and
beat the Mets six to four, which means, Austin, as
things go into the weekend, the Reds and the Giants
(08:20):
are just one and a half games back in the
NL Wild Card one and a half, which is like,
we've said all along, this team is going to continue
to fight and give themselves a chance to get in.
We've never quit on this Reds team and their chances
to make the postseason. Why would we do that now?
Neither of us, no I have, neither of us. No, no, no,
We've been with this team.
Speaker 5 (08:38):
No no, no, no no. Don't put me in there.
You may not have ever given up. I gave up
on them.
Speaker 6 (08:46):
What a day.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
I'm not a fan. I don't I don't run from that.
I don't run from that.
Speaker 8 (08:51):
What a.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Opportunity this weekend. The Mets look in disarray, like they
look completely disinterested.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Now they have stretches of playing like that and acting
like that and looking like that over the course.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Of the It's incredible. Other news last night, Aaron Judge
hit two home runs, he tied Joe DiMaggio on the
Yankees all time list, and Mike Trout Austin ended his
career long home run trout or home run drought Trout drought,
there you go, and hit his three hundred and ninety
(09:30):
ninth home run. It was a twenty eight game homerless
drout for Mike Trout.
Speaker 5 (09:34):
Did they win, I don't know. They lost. That doesn't matter.
Then what else was going on in baseball? Mike Trout
really nothing nothing else in baseball. We'll obviously dive into
the college football slate more so when we make our
picks this uh, this afternoon, we'll look at the NFL
games of note and UH when we do talk to
(09:54):
Tom Galader, we got to get to FC Cincinnati and Nashville.
Nashville just two point behind FC Cincinnati. And as we've
talked about with Tom often Austin, things are so tight
in the Eastern Conference standings that you could go from
second to fourth if you don't take care of business
this weekend. So everyone is bunched up in the Eastern
(10:18):
Conference standings. We'll spend some time with Tom Gleader this
afternoon and sift through all of that as well. Have
we missed anything, we have anything else that we have
to get to. I don't think so. I think that
pretty much covers it. We can go into the Friday
football frenzy.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Part of this dangles Jags.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah, I still don't see a line on Northwestern State
and Cincinnati, which I don't think you're going to.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, there was a remember the Ohio State line didn't
come out until like Friday afternoon when they played Grambling.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
There was a point last week at halftime. I think
the live line was like minus eighty one and a
half in Minnesota Northwestern State, which means you could have
bet live on that game for Northwestern State to just
not lose by eighty two. That's that is incredible, And
it's like, what what can you gain now you just
(11:10):
played Grambling with Ohio State? What what are you left
to gain in a game like that? Like, what what
did you look for for the Buckeyes last weekend that
maybe the Bearcats can look for this weekend.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
Well, to be honest with you, I I didn't watch
any of the game, That's how interested I was in Grambling.
But I think if you're Ryan Day, you got a
bunch of dudes that are chomping at the bit to
play football and to get out in that environment at
Ohio Stadium and not be playing a top the number
one team in the country like they were against Texas,
(11:45):
And I think it's just a more of a relaxed atmosphere.
Certain things that you want to put on tape or
certain things that you want to you know, get home
to drive home to your players about this is the
way we want to do stuff, and sometimes you know
you are able to do it incident inferior opponents, so
they know what it's supposed to look like. And I
don't know there's difference. You would know better than me.
(12:06):
There's a difference between getting something done in the game
as opposed to getting something done in practice. And at
the end of the day, when the sixty minutes are up,
you have more points than them, and that's what matters.
I think it's gonna be interesting to follow along and
what team shows up for Scott Saderfield.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
Do they lean on the run game? Do they try
to exploit things in the passing game? Ideally, in a
game like this, your starters are out of the game
at halftime and you're getting meaningful reps to the backups.
And that's a little different in today's day and age
because some of those backups are probably not going to
be here next year. But you use games like this
(12:44):
in the past to develop guys for the future. I
don't know how much development goes because this is just
given guys opportunities to put more on tape that they
may use to go elsewhere. But regardless of that, I
still think when you have a chance to go play
an actual game, there's a lot you can still work on.
And for this Bearcat team that has yet to play
a complete game, that has struggled at times, especially on
(13:06):
the offensive side of the ball, you gotta find some
sort of consistency Like I saw last week. I don't
remember who they played, but Florida State played a terrible team.
But Florida State had ten drives and ten touchdowns. Now,
I don't expect the Bearcats to hit at that efficiency,
but that's the type of stuff you're looking for in
a game like that.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Just be absolutely elite.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
And for the Bearcats on defense, down take Corleon's not
going to play. He's been limited at times this year.
From a snap standpoint, they need to find depths on
the defensive line because the difference when Corleone is in
versus when he's out is very, very noticeable. Based on
what other offenses are trying to get done.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
You mentioned allowing guys to put stuff on tape to
go elsewhere. Should coaches be thinking about that at this
point in the season.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
I don't think so, because you're you're just focused on
winning games and you're hoping that your culture is enough
to keep guys in the system and.
Speaker 5 (14:04):
Also coaches tell players to leave all the time. Yeah,
so I think it's a two way street.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
And I will say, like the Scott Sanderfield's credit, they
have kept a lot of the core of this roster together,
which tells me that they're buying in. So maybe that's
really not the case at Cincinnati, but I do think
it is something that is in the back of your mind.
Now going forward, let's take our first break of the
Friday Football Frenzy. When we come back, do we do
(14:31):

posted up right across the street from us at Rally House.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Mo, what's up?
Speaker 11 (16:47):
I'm at Rally House right here across the street. I literally,
are you waving right now? If you I'll step outside
and wave right now. If you want. Yeah, I'm right
here at Rally House on Montgomery Road. It is gorgeous
out and Rally House. To tell you what, there's a
few things happening here.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
You know.
Speaker 11 (17:03):
If the Bengals play on Sunday, right, but they open
an Orange, right, so they won't let you win if
you're not wearing orange.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Is that right?
Speaker 12 (17:13):
No, that's not true at all.
Speaker 11 (17:14):
But they want you to wear orange, which is why
they're calling it. Open an Orange. As soon as you
walk into this Rally House, guys, you are hit by
this wall of orange Bengals gear, T shirts, collared shirts, men's, women's,
We have orange beats. It's gonna be hot as hell.
But if you want to sweat more, you can get
(17:34):
an orange sweatshirt. They have all that stuff. And by
the way, you can wear the orange all season long
to show your Bengals pride. There's no better place to
get your Bengals gear than Rally House. Maybe a new jersey,
perhaps some sideline gear. They have a Bengals gear for
your dog if your dog's a Bengals fans. They have
the Rally House locations across Cincinnati. You can also shop online,
(17:56):
but instead I'm here till two, So break off some
time for your lunch break. Maybe bring me something to eat.
We've got Doobie Brothers tickets were given away. That show
is tonight, and start the big sports weekend here in
town by saying hi to me.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Here at Rally House in kenw Do they have any
of those Desmond Ridder orange jerseys you were looking for?
Speaker 13 (18:15):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (18:17):
You know I haven't walked to the back, but they
take the clearance.
Speaker 11 (18:23):
They do have an amazing collection of Bearcat gear that
there's a cotton bowl hat right there.
Speaker 14 (18:27):
Wow.
Speaker 11 (18:28):
If you want to get over lunch the dead, we
got Jordan gear, we got Nike, there's some leftover under armour.
I think there's actually some ucy Adidas gear left from
the the late two thousand.
Speaker 12 (18:40):
There's some bib overalls, you name it, they've got it.
Speaker 11 (18:44):
So stocked up for the season. Here at Rally House
and come say hi to me. I'm here atill two o'clock.
Get your orange Bengals gear and bring and and by
the way, later on, if you guys want, I'll sing
the Rally House jingle.
Speaker 4 (18:57):
Oh please do, I'll sing the jingle and see if
you could walk through the store and maybe find some
of the more obscure items that maybe they have available.
Speaker 12 (19:07):
I'll see what I could do.
Speaker 11 (19:08):
That's a good idea. We'll see if I could find something.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
All Right, see you guys, thanks more. He is waving.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Zach Taylor tone a couple of minutes ago, said that
Amarius Mims, who's been limited on the injury report both
days of practice this week, is good to go. He
was just a little sore with that ankle after Sunday's
game in Cleveland, so they kept him limited. But Zach
Taylor says, a Marius Mims officially good to go.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
That's good. Score the Bengals against the Jags. That's what
we need.
Speaker 5 (19:42):
A little football in the nattie. Yeah, are you gonna
now when when the Bengals? When you I'm assuming you're
not going to the game, but you are doing the
pregame show. I am down at the Holy Grail with
Moe and Ken. Now, I can tell you with one
billion Ken is not going to be wearing anything orange
or anything Bengals, but I would imagine Moe will be.
(20:07):
Will you, even though you're not going to the game,
wear something orange Bengals at the pregame show someday.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
Most of what I have Bengal related is black or white.
I know I have a since I know I have
a Sensy shirts like orange sweatshirt. Maybe I'll wear that
now they do on their website sincey Shirts has the
open and orange actual shirt which is a Bengal tiger
(20:36):
and he's got an open sign. Oh get it, I
get it open and orange. That's very funny. So I
might go later today Peru's my local sensy shirts and
see what I can find. They also had They posted
it the other day Austin.
Speaker 12 (20:52):
It was like the.
Speaker 4 (20:54):
It was like a replica of the Cincinnati Old School
sweat sweater that Ice would wear on the sidelines. Did
you see them post that?
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Yeah? I saw that.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
I might have to get that, okay, because I think
that is very very clean. So you want to answer
the question. If I have it, I'll wear it, okay,
much like the Field of Dreams. All right, if you
build it, they will come, I hear you. So, uh,
I'll see what Cinti Shirts can do to help me out.
Speaker 12 (21:19):
MO.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
We'll check in with MO. I'd like to.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
I want to know what Mo's gonna find. And I
have a question for mo about the rally house jingle
that I hear from a lot of Xavier fans. Uh oh,
because if you listen to the jingle, they don't say Xavier,
but they do sell Xavier, but they sell Xavier stuff.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
I think it's just got to beither they didn't.
Speaker 5 (21:38):
Get permission, Xavier didn't give them permission, or it is
just kind of a tough one to throw in.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Okay, we'll find that out and more with our guy
Moegger's We check in later this afternoon. As for the
rest of football in the Nattie Austin, what is your
biggest key on each side of the ball for Sunday's
game against the Jags.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
For the offense, it is stay ahead of the chains.
Do not allow Jacksonville to pin their ears back on
every single third down. The Bengals were behind the chains
a lot in Cleveland third and six or more third
and seven, or more third and eight and more, and subsequently,
on the defensive side of the ball, Cleveland was in
a lot of third and shorts, or what we like
(22:22):
to call it tone third and manageable. For me, though,
it's still going to be the guy that I'm most
worried about which is Brian Thomas Junior. The Bengals cannot
allow him to beat them, and I'm sure he's going
to be a big part of the Jacksonville game plan.
Can you keep those receivers at bay? And if you do,
I like their odds because the run defense played pretty
(22:44):
good and I would imagine if they can at least
be close to that, they'll have a chance to win.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
If they could be close to that and get into
those third and longs with Trevor Lawrence, maybe you can
force him to make a mistake or two offensively. For me,
you've got to find ways to get Jamar Chase and
t Higgins involved. Early talked earlier in the week about
you can also pass to set up the run. I
like the idea of Chase Brown being a huge piece
(23:11):
of the game plan, but that can't come at the
expense of Jamar Chase and t Higgins not getting in
the game. You've got to find ways to get them in.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Earlier.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
I believe they said earlier in the week that Travis
Hunter is gonna play more on the defensive side of
the ball this week.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
I haven't seen that, but he did in Week one.
Speaker 5 (23:29):
I think he only played like six or seven snaps
in a couple of those run plays.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
And Joe made a good point when he spoke earlier
in the week of Travis Hunter. What makes him unique.
Normally DB's are dbs because they can't catch the ball
or they don't have the best ball skills. Travis Hunter does.
He has elite ball skills. That's why he plays receiver
as well. So you might not be able to get
us away with much around Travis Hunter. So I'm interested
to see how they attack him offensively. You know that
(23:57):
Jacksonville is going to try to run the ball because
ETN had such success in running the ball last week.
But much like you said, if ETN runs for one
hundred and twenty yards but Brian Thomas Junior is not
a factor, I think I'm okay with that trade off
from the Bengals. You can't let the explosives happen, and
you're more in line to get hit with an explosive
if it's Travis Hunter or Brian Thomas than it is
(24:19):
ETN out of the backfield. So if you're going to
give up some yards in the run game, so be it.
Limit the explosives. Don't let Trevor Lawrence get comfortable. Don't
especially let him get comfortable with one of the best
wide receivers in all of football. Let's take ourselves a
break when we come back, because we are so limited
in the last two hours. Let's take some phone calls.
Next on the Home of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty,
(24:42):
Cincinnati Sports Station, the Friday Football Frenzy.

Speaker 15 (24:57):
This is Dan Horde, joined Dave Lapham and me this
afternoon three for Bengals pep rally on the official home
of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 10 (25:06):
For ten YESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Welcome back Friday Football Frenzy. ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.
Thanks as well to our friends at Skyline Chile. Anytime
you're feeling good and hungry, it's Skyline time. We have
a full set of phone lines here Austin, a lot
of folks that want to talk on a Friday, so
we're gonna get to as many of these as we
can in this segment. So if you're able to to
(25:38):
be brief. We'll get as many in as possible and
we'll move on from there. Let's just start with who's
been on hold the longest, which is Mike up and Hamilton.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
What's up, Mike?
Speaker 16 (25:47):
Hey, Anny, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (25:48):
What's up?
Speaker 11 (25:49):
Hey?
Speaker 16 (25:50):
After watching that game last night, minute it must be
it must be nice to have a legit defense, that
is a that.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Is another level caliber of defense that Green Bay possesses
right now.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
And it does it.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
It makes them immediately a contender because of what they
can do on that side of the ball. And you know,
Micah Parsons made reference to it at the end of
the nine. He said, look at the game between Buffalo
and Baltimore where both teams are in the forties. That's
all fun, but as the season's turns it gets colder,
you've got to be able to defend. And they are
building things in Green Bay on the defensive side of
the ball for sure.
Speaker 6 (26:24):
Well.
Speaker 16 (26:25):
And that and to go back to if Buffalo is
number one seed and you got to go into Buffalo,
they're not scoring forty, especially against that defense. I mean it,
as much as I hate to say, that looks like
a Super Bowl contender Week two, they do as much
as you can say week two. But no, So if
I called you right after the draft and all the taka,
(26:45):
Shamar Stewart didn't produce the contract, Trey Henderson's contract. Would
you believe me if I told you that after week
one that they were going to have the highest rated
pair of defensive ends in the league.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
No, No, I don't.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
There were so many questions around Shamar Stewart and it
felt like they needed a foreshore hit. And to their credit,
after the the circus of the off the field stuff
got sorted out. I think Shamar Stewart's been the best
player on the Bengals defense since he showed up for
training camp.
Speaker 16 (27:15):
And the one the one takeaway I had from the
game on Sunday leading into this week was the way
he absolutely demolished the left tackle, yes and threw him
to the ground. That was a big human that he
just dismissed very quickly.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Love everything we should?
Speaker 14 (27:31):
So do you have that?
Speaker 16 (27:32):
And then a week ago, six games out, if I'd
have called you and said they were going to make
the playoffs, which what are you?
Speaker 11 (27:38):
I know?
Speaker 16 (27:39):
I know Austin kind of jumped off the vandwagon at
one point, but a game and a half out after
they were six out there. I don't I don't know
what to make of this team. You watch the Mets
and you watch the Reds, and they're built completely different.
The Reds can't hit, but they can pitch. Yeah, play
play a little bit of defense. And the Mets can
hit and they can't pitch.
Speaker 14 (27:59):
So I I don't know.
Speaker 16 (28:01):
I man, this is a it's gonna be an interesting
what seventeen eighteen games left.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
Let's buckle in, Mike. I appreciate it, man, thank you
for for what it's worth. I think that uh de
gram goes for Texas in that Mets series. San Francisco
Austin is gonna go up against Yoshi Nobu Yamamoto, Okay,
Clayton Kershaw, yeah, and Tyler Glass.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
Now that's pretty good. That's not an easy series. That's
a good stretch for let's uh and then if I'm
not mistaken, they play against Arizona and then against the
Dodgers again, so they'll see at least one of those
guys again.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Let's do it, maybe two.
Speaker 6 (28:36):
Here we go.
Speaker 12 (28:37):
What's up, Johnny, guys, it's try football. Frady and some
guys talking about the Red let's stop this nonset folks.
I don't care if they get in the playoffs. If
they do, they're gonna lose that then you're gonna be
a upset again. Let's focus on football.
Speaker 16 (28:56):
And boy, am I ecided for Sunday?
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Can't be can't be any more excited? The home opener
against a good team in Jacksonville, coming in with a
chance for the first time under Joe Burrow to start
too And oh what more do you want?
Speaker 11 (29:08):
I can't wait.
Speaker 17 (29:09):
I'll be right next to you there, Tody, A holy grail.
Speaker 12 (29:11):
You know I'll be there.
Speaker 11 (29:12):
And uh, the biggest thing that I want to say
is I think we're.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
Gonna blow them out.
Speaker 6 (29:17):
I'm telling you right now like this, I'm telling you
right now.
Speaker 11 (29:20):
Well most people were all we've been through the charade, right,
We've been through it.
Speaker 12 (29:24):
We know that they have slow starts. We know when
we get our hopes up, they let us down.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
How about some confidence for one.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Okay, I like this, Johnny.
Speaker 12 (29:32):
We can wait for Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Let's go your fireball.
Speaker 12 (29:35):
Shot, let's freaking go, let's go, let's go day.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
I'll see a Sunday.
Speaker 12 (29:43):
Sunday.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Yeah, let's go. He's ready to go.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
Now, that's Johnny the juice, high energy. Yeah, what's John
and Boston got for us?
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Let's find out?
Speaker 6 (29:53):
I can't.
Speaker 18 (29:54):
I can't match that high energy. He's kind of like
Howard Dean after one of the primary elections. You know, Actually,
I'm really concerned guys, because Mole keeps doing his show
from a remote location, a bar, golf course, a rally house.
Do you guys have a restraining order or something like
you can't come into the studio?
Speaker 12 (30:13):
Is that what we're looking at?
Speaker 3 (30:14):
John? Not against us. I'd love to be outdoors too sometimes.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
Yeah, it'd be great. Mos a popular guy. He's a
popular guy. We love Mo, I miss Mo during the
football seat.
Speaker 18 (30:28):
All right, well, I'm sure you guys were reconvene at
some point once the restraining order is off. The other
thing I wanted to touch on is just a bow
on Sunday's win. And I think I mentioned this to
Austin on Monday. Under Tom Brady, the normal Patriots were
eight and ten at Miami in his career. Tom Brady
actually had a losing record at Miami.
Speaker 14 (30:47):
Eight and ten.
Speaker 18 (30:48):
They always cause problems for him. They had Jason Taylor,
who was Miles Garrett his day. Just the familiarity made
those games very top so hopefully the fans won't reach
too much until one point, win to win, no matter what.
The other thing, too, is now I keep hearing about
Dante CORDLIONI now with four vowels in my last name
and coming from Boston, and the offer I made for
(31:10):
you guys to fly you out here for Italian food.
We'd have to extend that offer to I mean right here.
Speaker 3 (31:16):
The Godfather. Yes right, you can't leave the Godfather out.
Speaker 6 (31:21):
Absolutely, so we're gonna send that offer for to him.
Speaker 12 (31:23):
And one more thing too.
Speaker 18 (31:23):
I'm trying to reach out to Jeff Hobson, who I
know has a massive Boston access. I know he's been
in Cincinnati for twenty five years. Yes, Hops Hobley, Hopsey Hobby.
I actually worked with his father or grandfather.
Speaker 16 (31:38):
I'm sure it was one or the other.
Speaker 18 (31:40):
It was Ron Hobson, who covered the Patriots in the sixties,
seventies and eighties from the TV Patriot Leder. I covered
the Patriots in the eighty three SPN and I'm pretty
sure he's got to be related to Ron Hobson. So
I'm gonna reach out to Jeff and try to connect
with him. And you know, Bostonians have to stick together, right.
Speaker 11 (31:57):
He does a great job.
Speaker 18 (31:58):
But I'm confident this weekend, guys, I say, thirty eight seventeen,
the offense gets some gear.
Speaker 11 (32:02):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
I love it all right, Joe John, We appreciate you
great weekend, fellas.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Yes, sir, you know if they score thirty eight, that
puts Burrow right back in line for the MVP. They're
in line for the Super Bowl, and John's in line
to bring us out for some Italian food.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
All right, deal, let's go. Let's get through a couple
more here, Mike, what's.
Speaker 14 (32:19):
Up, bunch up fellas. Hey, I'll tell you what I'm
I'm really worried about the efficiency and the durability of
our left tackle on offense.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
What's his name?
Speaker 14 (32:31):
I always forget?
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Is Orlando Brown?
Speaker 14 (32:34):
Yeah? Uh, TFF doesn't have him rated very well at all.
And I don't know what that what Jacksonville brings off
the edge.
Speaker 11 (32:45):
Do you?
Speaker 19 (32:47):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Burrow mentioned them up front and how they can be dangerous.
But every team in the NFL, if you get into
third and long situations, is going to be dangerous on
the outside.
Speaker 14 (32:58):
Okay, But what do you. I mean, Brown's about his
average as it gets. There's nothing really special about the guy.
Speaker 6 (33:04):
He might have been at one time, but not anymore.
I don't see it.
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Yeah, Austin, we had this, Austin and I had this
conversation as well. I don't know if if there was
people being more comfortable than maybe what they should have been.
But what's your take on Orlando Brown? Austin.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
I'm worried about it because he's getting older, and he
had a run of injuries last year and he it
was kind of slowed down by that, and so I
think at times in the past he's been a bit
of a slow starter like the rest of the team
has been. He still has all the tools. I just
worry about his consistency and maybe slowing down a little
(33:41):
bit as he gets older.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (33:43):
Plus, he came from the chief so people automatically put
this stigma, Well, he's got to be really good. He
came from the Chiefs, and that's not necessarily.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
He was really good with the Chiefs, you know, so
there's no denying that.
Speaker 14 (33:57):
Yeah, five years ago, what yep? Right now, Green Bay
they would thank the Bengals, thank him and put him
to bed.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Early this season, Yes, they would be that. If that
game was Sunday, I would Green Bay would be comfortably favored.
Speaker 14 (34:16):
I think that is one impressive football team.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
They look complete, They look complete.
Speaker 14 (34:23):
Oh complete. Now, I don't know about special teams because
I never really pay as much attention to that as
I should. But boy on both sides of the ball,
and Loved looking very composed. I think on the other side, right, yep,
Well you think of him overall Tony top ten?
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Oh yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Orlofsky earlier in the preseason put him as his MVP favorite.
I don't know if he's my MVP pick, but he's
a top ten quarterback in the league, I think for sure.
Speaker 5 (34:51):
And really, you've been critical of Jordan Love in the
past about him his inconsistency.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Now you got him in the top ten. I just
think he's grown. I think think he's matured. I think
the fact that they've never really had a true number
one weapon I thought early on in his career maybe
hurt him. But the way he's able to spread the
ball around, he looks in now it's just a two
game samples ize, it's only two games, he looks like
he's got complete understanding of the system. He's finding the
(35:18):
tight ends. They've got two good tight ends. They've got
a good running game. Josh Jacobs scored a touchdown now
in ten straight games. I just think they have good
balance on offense, and it's it's a way that I
think if he needs to, he can lift him, but
he also just needs to manage the games as well.
Speaker 14 (35:36):
And also back to the defense, I mean, you're flying
around like a frank college team, like an Ohio State
defense or something. I mean, they are just fast, aren't they.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
They're fast, and they are playing with with extreme confidence
because they know their front can get to the quarterback quick,
which is allowing those dbs to sit on some routes
a little bit.
Speaker 14 (35:58):
I got you. I'll tell you what if you if
South Florida the Bulls knock Miami off this week, automatically
top ten team.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Yeah, I said earlier the week, it might be the
most impressive three game stretch to start a college season
that I can remember.
Speaker 14 (36:16):
Yeah, and you're coming out of nowhere. Really, they weren't
in the top twenty they I didn't see him anywhere
top twenty five even honorable.
Speaker 4 (36:23):
Mention beat a top twenty five team to start the
year in boys. He beat a top ten team in
week two on the road of the Swamp, and now
go to Miami, who's number five in the country. If
they somehow win that, it's the most impressive three games
start to a season I can remember.
Speaker 14 (36:38):
And I can't tell you one guy on your football team.
Speaker 12 (36:40):
No, not one guy, No, can you often?
Speaker 19 (36:44):
No.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
I can see their quarterback in my head, but I
don't know his name. Quarterbacks a stud too.
Speaker 14 (36:49):
I know it's a it's a mind bender. Yeah, well
I thought you would know his name time. Okay, And
one more thing real quick. Like you said yesterday, I
don't care who's pitching for the resident I feel won.
It's Hunter of course or Ladolo. But like you said yesterday, Tony,
these guys mash and you gotta be careful against this team.
Speaker 6 (37:08):
Don't lack a daisical nothing.
Speaker 14 (37:10):
And you know how you say the Reds play hard.
But at this point of the season, the teams in
connect they're all playing hard hard. Nobody's playing harder than
anybody else.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Not really, I'm with you, all right, thanks, Thanks, guys,
have a good weekend.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
I think we could fit one more in. Matt is
calling in from Evendale. What's up, Matt.
Speaker 17 (37:30):
Hey, Tony Uh, I got free questions, Riley House. The
reason they don't talk about Xavier is because Davier graduates
two thousand people a year. You see graduate eight thousand
people a year. It's just numbers. Okay, They're not gonna
and it's Xavier Universe or Xavier must have fears. It's
hard to rhyme with anything. And I'm a Xavier fan
(37:52):
as as my dad used to say. The Inquire sales papers,
and they can sell a lot.
Speaker 14 (37:57):
More to Bearcats fans than Xavier fans.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
That's true.
Speaker 17 (38:00):
Uh So that's my answer on that one. Travis Hunter
can Is there a way to go after him, either
based on college tape or or just based on kind
of fooling him? You know, he's new the NFL. We're
just gonna They're just gonna throw him out there and
expecting to cover one of the best receivers in the NFL. Yeah,
I think there's got to be a way to trick
(38:22):
him up a little bit for crying out loud. I
how do you attack an inexperienced NFL cornerback?
Speaker 3 (38:28):
Double moves? That's how I would use him.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
I would I would hit some quick hitters early because
you know he's gonna be amped up and he's gonna
want to make a play on the ball. And I
would use that to my advantage by by using some
double moves. As long as you can protect it, I
think you can get him to try to jump some
routes early and have some success on the back end.
That's how I would do it. Now, you do have
to be careful because I mentioned earlier he's got such
(38:51):
great ball skills that he can make up for because
he can make a play on a ball that not
a lot of corners can make because he's got the
receiver mentality.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
So you do have to be careful. But I think
you can take advantage of his aggressiveness.
Speaker 6 (39:04):
That's what I would think.
Speaker 17 (39:05):
Okay, And then the last thing I just saw on
the Padres game a Sinci hats bucket hat. How much
how much do you think, like, you know, the the
Cinci hats, you know, maybe you wear that, but anyway,
the uh, you know, like they're taking business basically away
from the major people in town. And I wonder how
(39:26):
long that's gonna last. That's just a curiosity question. But
you know, instead of a red hat, you see a
since he hat, and I've never seen the bucket hat yet,
so anyway, I thought that was interesting. Now it's like
a quasi major league product or you know, it's a
it's it's a recognizable brand, the sty hat.
Speaker 14 (39:46):
That's interesting.
Speaker 17 (39:47):
All right, That's all I got.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Yeah, Matt, thank you for the call. I appreciate it.
It's hard because I know what Ted Carrisson the Sincy
hat uh so much. Austin goes what is it, the
the village of uh who do their foundation the village
of Maurici, I believe is how it was pronounced. So
that like hard for me because it's going to such
a good cost, and I think that I think the
hat has a sharp design.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
And if I'm not mistaken, I I heard something with
Ted recently talking about how they're making like over a
million dollars a year for this charity based off of
these sales.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
And they do so much amazing with like other they
do other work with like other local companies as well.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah, that they team up with stuff which I think has.
Speaker 5 (40:32):
Really done a lot of good stuff with the bigger
brands in town, and it has an impact in Ted's
hometown in Indianapolis has an impact back here in Cincinnati. Yeah, yeah, agreat,
I believe we have a check in with me coming up.
That's correct, after the break, All.

Welcome back Friday Football Frenzy, ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports
Station thanks to Skyline Chili for the second time today, Austin,
let's check in across the street with what our guy
Mowagger is doing.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
He's at Rally House and he's joining us.
Speaker 9 (42:44):
Now, what's up, mo, fellas We're having a blast here
at Rally House. Now, I need to be very clear
because as you know, there's a couple of different rally
House locations here in the Kenwood Montgomery area. There's one
inside the Kentwood Town Center that is an awesome store.
We love that place. But we're not at that one.
We're at the one at eighty sixty three Montgomery Road.
(43:06):
For those who know where the radio station is, we're
right across the street. And there's no better place to
get your game dy gear, especially because you know the
Bengals are opening an orange they're demanding you where. In fact,
the staff here says, don't paint your face orange. Really
if you buy an orange?
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Yeah wow, I'm.
Speaker 11 (43:21):
Looking at the staff right and they're ready to go.
Don't paint your face orange. It'll have to be orange
all weekend to where with your orange Bengals gear. There's
a great selection of gear here, Sideline gear. You know
you guys, ask me what about your De's Ridder jersey mode?
Did you know you can get a customized jersey here? No,
you to buy a Bengals jersey and then boom, put
Ridder number four on it and you're good to go.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
With one of those today.
Speaker 11 (43:44):
I am, and to sweeten the deal here, here's what
we have going on. I've got gift cards. I have
rally House gift cards. Now I've thrown the gauntlet out
there on my social media, but I will challenge anybody.
See this woman here saw my tweet. She wins a
gift card. Man, what's your name? Julie found the tweet.
He went to the gift cards following So congratulations.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
You're there to buy, Julie, what are you buying?
Speaker 12 (44:13):
Bengals gear?
Speaker 13 (44:16):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (44:17):
Now I have another gift card to give away. If
somebody wants to show up at rally House, I'll look.
You can do one of two things. You could sing the.
Speaker 12 (44:24):
Rally House jingle for everybody here, or you could or
you can bring me lunch.
Speaker 3 (44:28):
Oh wow, that seems illegal.
Speaker 11 (44:32):
Probably isn't totally kosher. Uh, But we'll work something out.
But I've got another route and it's it's but I'm
only here too, so you don't get here like four
or third. No, most busy. I'll be here at two o'clock.
By the way, there is a woman here who's like
buying all the orange stuff, so you may want to hurry.
I got something for like the entire family.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
I've been asked before in the rally House jingle which
is so catchy. They don't mention Xavier? Is it strictly
because Xavier is just hard to mix into a jingle?
Because I know they have Xavier gear at Rally House.
Speaker 14 (45:04):
They do, they do.
Speaker 11 (45:06):
They have a great selection of Xavier gear.
Speaker 12 (45:09):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (45:10):
In fact, I would say it's the best collection of
Xavier gear of of any place in town.
Speaker 21 (45:15):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (45:15):
So let's let's see. So it's Red's Bengals FC since
the the Ohios date Bearcats in Kentucky. Now, Austin, I
don't want you to be mad. Would it be for
Cincinnati so bad to take out the Ohio state and
put in Xavior and go Reds Bengals FC since the
Xavier bear Cats.
Speaker 3 (45:32):
Maybe it doesn't work, say Musketeers Bearkats in Kentucky.
Speaker 11 (45:38):
Reds Bengals FC. Since E's Xavier Musketeers Bearcats in Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Yeah it worked. Y.
Speaker 6 (45:43):
I love that.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
Now, if you're going to see you got to sing
the updated jingle to get the gift card.

to sing the updated jingle with Savior or without either way,
But I've got a gift card with your name on
it and Uh, it's it's awesome. We're having so much fun.

What's up, Charlie?
Speaker 12 (48:08):
How are you doing? Tony good?
Speaker 22 (48:09):
How are you?
Speaker 12 (48:10):
I'm doing great. I'm doing great for Sunday.
Speaker 4 (48:13):
Ready for Sunday, Also, Charlie, ready for a big Reds weekend.
We haven't even talked about the Reds in a while,
but let's do so for just a moment. Because the
Reds enter this series against the A's one and a
half out of the wild Card. You have the Mets
who have to take on the Texas Rangers, who are
a very good baseball team. The Giants go up against
the Dodgers. They've got some studs pitching over the weekend.
(48:36):
How have the Reds been able to do it? How
have they been able to hang around for much of
this second half?
Speaker 12 (48:42):
I give a lot of these guys individually a lot
of credit, and then of course collectively, there's something connective
between the group that's led to that as well. But
like you look at the turnaround, the one under the
one hundred and eighty degree turnaround that TJ. Friedel has
made from getting cold to getting hot. You look at
Matt McClean, who from having his worst stretch of the season.
Speaker 11 (49:02):
To the best. You look at Andrew Abbott from.
Speaker 12 (49:04):
Having his worst stretch of the season to the best.
Hunter Green going from the ale to make a huge difference.
The Bullpen and Connor Phillips and Dak Maxwell stepping up
in big moments. It's just a lot of guys doing stuff.
And when you get to September and the pressure mounts
as the tension gets hired, to have that many guys
(49:24):
taking positive strides at the same time, that's really impressive
and they're now officially back in it.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
All right.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
The Bengals Charlie coming out of last Sunday against the
Cleveland Browns obviously not what they want to be offensively.
Do you attribute it to just a slow start and
that's been what's plagued them, or was Cleveland able to
do something that maybe other defenses can try to emulate
as well.
Speaker 12 (49:50):
I just think because of the low possession game that
it became, and it was only that much of a
low position game just because Cleveland was determined to take
three hours the play. Because of the low possession game
of play, the whole offensive output came down to really
four plays. The go ball to Jamar, another go ball
to Jamar, a whole shot to t Higgins, and then
(50:12):
a deep kind of cross out to Jamar Chase. All
four of those players were about to foot away from
being completed. From being completed. If the Bengals complete all four,
they score thirty points. If they complete two, they're probably
pushing twenty eight. If they complete one, they run away
with the game. And it feels completely different.
Speaker 11 (50:29):
And the Browns made some plays you felt.
Speaker 12 (50:32):
Miles Garrett's presence, but for the most part, I just
shock it up to a small example size on those plays.
Now that we're still concerns, my biggest being the team's
formatted offense and what they are able to do when
they have to establish a power run game in known
rushing situations. But on the whole I was actually much
less concerned about the game and the passing game offensively,
(50:54):
Is there a.
Speaker 4 (50:54):
Way, Charlie that they can fix just with technique or
maybe scheme the run game, because it doesn't look or
feel to me like the offensive line is built around
a power run scheme. They're built around protecting Joe Burrow.
They paid the receivers and Joe Burrow all the money,
and yet it does feel like they want to establish
the run. Is there a way schematically that maybe they
can do it if they don't possess that From just
(51:17):
an individual play by play basis.
Speaker 12 (51:20):
I was actually fine with the run game up until
third and one in the fourth quarter wasn't great. There
were a couple of plays where kind of Chase Brown
just got tripped up and when that close to breaking
off an explosives, and there was a kind of a
toss that ended up nearly working out for them as well.
Speaker 11 (51:37):
But then the third and.
Speaker 12 (51:38):
One where they got heavy in the Browns match with
their biggest personnel and the Bengals got stuffed, and then
the drivers where they put Cody Ford and Drew Sample
and Noah Fans all in to try to block, and
the fact that those runs went backwards. Now, a lot
of those tackles were made given up by plays on
the perimeter. There's also one play where Orlando Brown Union
(51:59):
just down and that can't happen. But it's those types
of plays that I think is gonadic that they need
a better answer for, more so than just the flow
of the normal game. But you Againna, it is optimistic
glasses I'm putting on. But the flow of the normal game.
Actually thought the run game was all right?
Speaker 4 (52:16):
Defensively, what were you most impressed with from what that
unit was able to do under Al Golden?
Speaker 12 (52:24):
The fundamentals, I mean They hired Al Golden to have
the young guys play fast, and the young guys played fast,
it's still a flawed defense. I'm still concerned about what
we saw at cornerback on Sunday. I think there are
still questions about what the safeties are going to do,
and they really get challenged down the field. There was
a nice debut from Demetrious Night, but there were learning
(52:44):
moments as well that you clearly saw on tape as
he gets up to speed and the defensive line well.
It had a great end of the game. We spent
the whole first half talking about how the Bengals needed
more of a pass rush. So there's a lot of
individual development and improvement that you need to see across
the board on defense. But they tackled, they ran right plays,
they chased the ball, They knew what they were doing
(53:06):
when there was a penalty or a play aloud. They
didn't point at each other and yell. The communication was
probably what they did. That's so that's simple stuff that
the Bengals were terrible at last season. Alcohlten had that
cleaned up.
Speaker 4 (53:19):
Everyone is talked about Shamar Stewart, and rightfully so, because
he's he's played at a very high level since he
has joined this team at the start of training camp.
But a player we've talked on and off about is
Demetrius Knight and then Dan Horde hit on earlier. I
think he had six tackles on the first drive of
the game. How impressive were or how impressed were you
with Demetrius Knight and his first opportunity as a playmaker
(53:43):
for this defense.
Speaker 12 (53:45):
So I have multiple pages of notes that I keep
in an organized fashion during the game, and there's a
there's one page where if you can make it on
this page like I'm really honed in in on that,
I'm really zeroing in on that. It was a pass
break up I believe against Njoku. To me Night Maade,
that was so sick that that play got special mention
on the most impressive page in my notes, And of
(54:06):
course they don't give out any awards for that, but
that's how impressed that was with that individual play. That
was the exact skill set that the Bengals coaching staff
stressed during training camp. He actually kind of still has
work to do, getting downhill, getting through the line of scrimmage,
making plays in the backfield on against the run and
kind of the point of attack stuff. But you know,
(54:27):
we do see his speed kind of chasing the ball,
making plays down the field. But the skill set that
was stressed the most kind of was his instincts, his awareness,
his physicality, his ability to make plays against passes. For
the Bengals to have two of those guys in Logan
Wilson and in Demetrious Night, I mean, that's a great
place to be for the Bengals at the linebacker position.
Speaker 6 (54:48):
Charlie.
Speaker 4 (54:49):
If you look at a box score and you see
linebackers with high tackle totals, that tells me they're playing well.
It also tells me that the front four is doing
their job and allowing them to to not have to
take on many blocks because the front four is occupying them.
Did you view it Sunday as that that the front
four was able to really cause some disruption to Cleveland's
(55:09):
running game.
Speaker 11 (55:11):
The line that I.
Speaker 12 (55:12):
Really honed in on that Al Golden said when talking
about TJ. Slayton was we couldn't have played the boxes
that we played without him. Well, that means is it
was a bunch of or mostly lighter boxes. Even though
it was four to three. Was the third linebacker was
kind of more split out, not right in the middle,
but there was more spread there. The way they aligned
their defense showed how much confidence they had in their
(55:34):
nose tackle, being able to occupy double teams, being able
to really strongly set the point of attack and anchor.
And he did that, and I think actually the storyline
from Sunday that has gotten that needs to be to
be talking about more of that kind of flew under
the radar. The most and the most unfairly was the
fact that Dja Hill essentially missed all the training campus
to foot injury and to come to play as many
(55:57):
snaps as he did to be really back at his
natural position at three tech, and it just looked like
bj Hill. You know that, we know he played a
really good game, and with the adversity that he had
to deal with in training camp and in the offseason
with the injury, to be able to just look as
athletic as he did in Week one, that really had
my attention, and I think that deserves more attention.
Speaker 5 (56:17):
From your point of view. Looking ahead to Sunday, what
are some matchups in this game that are intriguing to you?
Speaker 3 (56:24):
With what the Jags bring to the table.
Speaker 12 (56:26):
Well, what this is all about is the Jags receivers
versus the Bengals corners. You know, the Bengals were a
misfield goal away from the story of the week being
kind of two important catches that DJ Turner allowed, and
then I believe two or three the camp tail a
brit Aloud as well, including one where he just got
caught flat footed and lost awareness on the play, which
is the kind of stuff that can't happen. And Cam's
(56:49):
the guy. He He's a momentum based corner kind of
is the best way I have to describe him in
terms of when he's rolling. When things are going great,
he can show up and turn in the more impressive
plays you've seen on the ball. But when things start
to slip away. We saw this in Carolina last year,
we saw this in la last year, and then we
saw it again in the fourth quarter in Cleveland. Cam
(57:10):
needs a better response system for that. And that's not
just Cam, that's the coaching staff continue to put him
in positions I keep saying about him. No one is
going to be able to benefit more from the change
and defensive coordinator than Cam, just because al and his
system and the way he coaches players is conducive more
so for Cam to keep that confidence. But Cam also
(57:31):
knows he needs to make more plays, so he's better
set up around him to have it like a good
week of practice this week, which he did, and they're
going to continue to put him in positions where he
can be his most confident self and can't acknowledges that
and he appreciates that about this coaching's death, but ultimately
he just has to play better.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
How much of the success that Jacksonville had on the
ground against Carolina concerns you about what they would try
or could be able to do against the Sense Bengals,
because that's the thing. It's so early in the season.
They passed the first test against the Cleveland Browns. Here
comes a team that ran the ball extremely successful and
we've already talked about the secondary and how you need
(58:11):
to make sure you get eyes to Brian Thomas. How
much does Etn create an issue for this defense on Sunday?
Speaker 12 (58:18):
He had that explosive run last week. He's a well
known receiving option out of the backfield. He's probably the
big stressor for these linebackers. You bring in these linebackers
for versatile and dynamics and elusive backs like the Jaguars have,
and I actually am now I mentioned the magical most
worried about the Bengals is from a cornerback perspective, But
(58:39):
when you look at how inaccurate Trevor Lawrence was last week,
I see Jacksonville definitely trying to kind of set the
tone on the ground in this game and then turn
to their receivers kind of in some more high leverage
third down moments. That's going to be like Liam Cohone's
run game in Tampa is what got him the job
in Jacksonville. The terrific stuff he did is a play
(59:01):
caller and as a play designer, that's something that he
really brings to the table that clearly they're running back
and their offensive line and their team is ready to
execute right now. That's kind of giving an offense with
an up and down quarterback, it's foundation. So that's going
to be something I think we see a lot early
On Sunday, Joe.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
Burrow went out of his way to talk about Travis
Hunter and how he was able to watch a lot
of what he did at Colorado and mention the ball
skills on the defensive side of the ball normally growing up,
if you're a player that possesses good ball skills, you
play wide receiver. That's why you put on at corner.
Is if you don't have the best ball skills, but
you're a great athlete and you can cover. How difficult
does it make preparing for a guy in Travis Hunter
(59:41):
who is going to probably play more on the defensive
side of the ball because he can play and react
to a ball defensively much differently than your normal corner.
Speaker 12 (59:51):
Frank Luo, I think happens is if they play more
on defense, they test him because this is a guy
who's still just have limited reps at training camp at
corner teams like he made injured Moore in receiver and
a guy who obviously didn't play a ton at corner
in week one. So if you can make Travis Hunter tackles,
if you can make him kind of, you know, not
get tired, because he doesn't get tired, but kind of
(01:00:13):
start getting into the floor of the game as a corner.
And then, oh, by the way, here the dagger to
t Higgins that no one in the league can stop.
And all of a sudden, now you're challenging him in
that way, that's the way to kind of kind of
break this Jaguars defense, kind of using hunters inexperience to
his advantage, because the upside is incredible. You know, we
could talk for an hour just about how special of
(01:00:34):
a player Travis Hunter is. But he's also an experience
and this is the Bengals team that's shown a willingness to,
for lack of a better word, pick on the guys
who might not be as seasoned or or fundamentally sound
or advanced. And how can he be that when he
hasn't even been a corner full time through a training
camp yet. So those are all things I think the
(01:00:55):
Bengals could hone in on as opposed to the opposite,
and then just frankly hope that your tackle Hunter on
the other side of the field when he gets the ball,
and your technique against him as the receiver in space
is more up the seed.
Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
Charlie, in your opinion, what does this game on Sunday
come down to at the end?
Speaker 12 (01:01:15):
Should I be a broken record and say the turnover
battlegame because I feel like it is my least favorite
football cliche, But but there really is something to that.
What the defense did forcing turnovers to make up for
its limitations in Cleveland was the difference. And that's gonna
have to be this defensive identity. But then they still
have one on one matchups that you're not too confident.
(01:01:37):
And yet you also of course want to see Burrow
in the passing game, just be able, not that they
they were tense in week one, just be able to
take a deep breath, just get going. Like I remember
the Bengals deep passing game struggled in twenty twenty two,
and then Burrow hit the deep ball the void against
the against the Jets, and it's like, all right, here
we go. We're rolling now. I think a moment like
(01:01:58):
that's always valuable.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Charlie, you are the best man. Thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (01:02:02):
Extremely busy time with the Reds coming down the stretch
and the Bengals getting started. We appreciate your time as always.
What's the easiest way to follow along with everything you
got going.
Speaker 12 (01:02:10):
On early Chalkport on substacking on Fox nineteen, we got
power stacks, pop, we got the Growler. This is a
fun time of year and it's excited to be going.
Speaker 6 (01:02:19):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Thanks Charlie, thanks so much man. We'll talk next week.
Speaker 12 (01:02:24):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (01:02:24):
That is Charlie Goldsmith.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
This is the Friday football frenzy thanks to Cincy shirts
on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station. We got talkbacks
and we got to give away a Cincy Churtch gift
cards still in this hour, and we still got to
check in with Mo a couple times at rally house.
A lot to get to not enough time on the
SPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
It's a big.
Speaker 23 (01:02:50):
Top.
Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
Yes, talkbacks coming up in just a moment.
Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
Will give away a since he starts gift card at
the end of talkbacks, but before that, let's check in
across the street. MO has been perusing the rally house
right here in ken Wood seeing what he can find.
Speaker 11 (01:03:27):
MO, what's going on, you know, hanging at a rally
house and we're at the Kenwood store on Montgomery Road
and we're having a blast. I as a general rule
in life, I mind my own business, like I don't
stick my nose in other people's problems. I'm not a
nosy person. But you know, we're here in the front
of rally house and people are coming in by the dozen.
(01:03:48):
In fact, if you see the cop out there on
Montgomery Road directing traffic. That's why, yes, because we're here.
This couple literally just walked in and man and woman
I assume married or together. And the woman said to
the guy, I want to get a jersey of what's
his name, and don't make that for you can. I
don't know what number what's his name wears, but don't
(01:04:11):
put like, let's say it's number nine, number nine, what's
his name?
Speaker 12 (01:04:14):
Orange?
Speaker 11 (01:04:15):
You need orange? You need orange for Sunday's game. Have
you ever gone to a game where it's like, hey,
everybody's gonna wear orange or white or black, and you
wear like the wrong color. You're an absolute social leper.
You cannot do that. So come to Rally House and
it it'd be great if you got here by two o'clock.
By the way, we had and I was, I had
(01:04:37):
an extra gift card. We had two folks who heard
me mention what you gotta do to swing by Rally
House on your show, and they came and claim their
gift card. Both offered lunch, wow, and I said, I
can't do it. One guy like he said, I don't
have time to go get you lunch, but you can
eat my lunch and he had like a lunch a
bowle what a yeah? And I'm like, dude, we're it's
the thought that count. So they get gift cards so
(01:04:58):
they're good to go, but stop buck up all your
Bengals game day gear. By the way, did you guys
know there are twelve local rally House locations largest selection
of officially licensed Cincinnati Bengals gear. And by the way,
because I know they sponsored this hour of your show,
a proud, proud carrier of since the items too at
(01:05:18):
rally House and Kenworth.
Speaker 4 (01:05:20):
Have you ran into anyone yet or met anyone that's
not only looking for Bengals gear but maybe some Cincinnati gear.
Has anyone come in that's maybe doing the double dip
this weekend home game for the Bearcats home game for
the Bengals.
Speaker 11 (01:05:33):
I haven't seen anybody who is doing both, but the
Bearcat the Bearcat section. There's a jump actually, Alex mecham
this year buying buying Bearcat gear. That's actually a thing
that's happening. There's another couple perusing the it's an awesome
selection of u SE gear gear. They have UC footed pajamas.
(01:05:56):
I don't know that you want to wear those to
the game tomorrow form but later in the year, you know,
later on in the year might be might be perfect
for awesome.
Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
Tell Meach we said hey, and we'll check in again
here shortly. Most definitely thanks me.
Speaker 3 (01:06:10):
That'sger Mogar in the house, Mowen Meach.
Speaker 24 (01:06:14):
Talkbacks all right, Happy Friday boys. Sorry for the weird
talkback hour. I work weird hours, but I'm at home
rewatching this Packer and the Commander game and and right
off the page man the Tucker Craft, which obviously I've
seen him before, but dude, he's jumping off like this
dude is a freak. I mean, Tony, you would know
better than anybody with the whole Travis Kelsey thing, But dude,
(01:06:37):
he's like the second coming I think.
Speaker 3 (01:06:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 24 (01:06:39):
I mean, I guess you got to stay healthy, But
what are your thoughts like, he's nuts?
Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
Yeah, there are.
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
I don't know if it's kind of what Gronk and
Kelsey ushered in, but I feel like there's more like
athletic freakish tight ends in the NFL now than there's
ever been.
Speaker 25 (01:06:58):
Band.
Speaker 26 (01:07:00):
The ring leaders of Sincy three sixty have been banned
from g A BP dirty playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
Man, you really done it this time.
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
Don't worry about it. I'll just smuggled and when they
get back in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
But you guys got to get back on this bandwagon
at some point. Come on, now, get back on. If
we come in under half game, there is blood in
the water.
Speaker 26 (01:07:21):
I don't know if there's enough sharks on this team,
but there's definitely blood in the waters at the point
there's blood in the water.
Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
To be fair, I don't sharks. Anybody is going to
be at Great American Ballpark during the playoffs. Do we
have sharks?
Speaker 7 (01:07:32):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:07:33):
Jeff Henry.
Speaker 27 (01:07:38):
Happy football frenzy working out here on the ridge. So
I thought I should have talked back. Were playing in
the background, Jordan. All you need is love shirted ball
out last night Bengals by.
Speaker 12 (01:07:49):
Seven on Sunday.
Speaker 27 (01:07:50):
Feel pretty good about it. Like I said, I think
t will ball out too, and that can run around
your time are as I call run the head and off.
Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
Oh no, are top back.
Speaker 12 (01:07:59):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
All right, man. I saw keV was rocking his sinsy
shirt on the out on the ridge early this morning.
Speaker 28 (01:08:07):
Hey, bright and blessed Friday morning, Tony and Austin. My
wife in forty five years told me that my recent
talkbacks had been slightly snarky. So everyone's a winter weekend
and by Monday there'll be peace in the valley.
Speaker 6 (01:08:21):
Well U be pee see the valley Saldy, Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Good, love each other man, A man can sink, you
can just he.
Speaker 29 (01:08:38):
Triple buget hold me, Austin. I agree, tough matchup Sunday
Jags at Bengals, but let's get to two and zero
Bengals thirty Jags twenty nine book. I want to conclude
it's been a sorrowful time in the country of the
past two days. May God lass America and people use
(01:09:03):
good judgment going forward.
Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
Have a blessed day.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Well said, thank you.
Speaker 30 (01:09:08):
Look at I didn't realize how similar the Bengals are
to the Commanders both overrated.
Speaker 7 (01:09:16):
Oh my god.
Speaker 30 (01:09:17):
For this season. I want to know if the international
games that they do on Sunday mornings, if you think
that should be a Friday night thing or do you
think they'll never do that because it interferes with high
school Friday night football.
Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
I don't think you're going to do it because it
interferes with the scheduling and the rest in recovery time
for the players.
Speaker 5 (01:09:40):
Sports Broadcasting Act of nineteen sixty one prohibits the NFL
from doing Friday night broadcasts during a certain time in
the year, which is why the early season game. I
think prior to like the second week in September or something,
they're able to do it, but like they can't next
year for whatever reason because the sk the way the
(01:10:00):
schedule works out. I wouldn't be surprised if they try
to do that eventually.
Speaker 31 (01:10:07):
Hey guys, Jeff and Norrishmond, Happy Friday. I hope you
guys have a great weekend coming up. I'm gonna go
Bengals thirty five to twenty three on Sunday. My fantasy
football was screwed last week, so we need to get
that back on track with Joe and Jamar, so hopefully
(01:10:31):
they're both have big days.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
You guys, take care of a great weekend. Thank you.
Happy Friday fellas well.
Speaker 32 (01:10:39):
I'm gonna give you my score prediction for this Sunday
between the Bingles and the Jaguars. I think it's gonna
be close. I think the offense will bounce back because
they've got that wom week one. They'll be more excited
to stack them on top of each other. So I'm
gonna go Bengals twenty four, Jags twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
Hoody Okay, thank you? Not a cover.
Speaker 33 (01:11:00):
Is Lonnie from Saint Louis fired up for this weekend,
driving in for the game on Sunday, open and orange tone.
I'll see at the Grail Sunday morning, nine am.
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Hood boys, Let's go. Love to hear that, lon love.
Speaker 8 (01:11:15):
To hear that.
Speaker 34 (01:11:16):
Yeah, Rallyhouse doesn't include Xavier and their commercials, but to
be fair, they also don't include Florence y'all's or your
local eight year old girls soccer team.
Speaker 6 (01:11:28):
Really it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
Wow, Oh that's a show again. They're usually not till December.
We get those shots right there.
Speaker 30 (01:11:35):
Oh, I'm starting to worry about my astros.
Speaker 13 (01:11:39):
The Rangers, Mariners hotter than Georgia asph A l T.
Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Come on, you can be a free.
Speaker 13 (01:11:46):
Holy Negro, you can be a verdet Negro, you can
be a freeo Negro.
Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
But at the end of the day, you're just an
O E g U m me. I don't know what
any of that means.
Speaker 35 (01:12:01):
TP fifteen Audie v MWG. There he is, hey in
a morning coffee, I open up the MLB app Matt's lose. Yep, fellas.
Speaker 36 (01:12:12):
The math got easier in the last few days. Now
we take care of business this weekend against the Athletics.
Never know what could happen. Just consider this your daily
dose of Reds. Hopium go red.
Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
Math is the math. Math is the math, wrap.
Speaker 6 (01:12:29):
And running here.
Speaker 19 (01:12:32):
The plan of the Bengals is to take the right angles.
Speaker 6 (01:12:36):
How it's smart.
Speaker 19 (01:12:36):
The Jaguar a void a week two quite bar. The
balance before us is to stop Trevor Lawrence. The beatdown
will be thoroughled by Hickins Chason Burrow to show up
in Orange, leave your other closing storage, holler through your pipes,
and cheer on the stripes. The first in the jungle
will not be your bungle.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
You don't live in Jacksonville.
Speaker 19 (01:12:54):
You live in since the Actionville fool.
Speaker 3 (01:12:58):
Okay, since the Actionville Okay, Ronnie.
Speaker 37 (01:13:02):
Every time the Reds go for it, they always lose.
It's over six out, It's over man. Why even do it?
Come back with these sensey Reds. Come back with these
Sensei Reds. This is monster, This is huge. Come back
with these sensey Reds. Where the heck is the wire
(01:13:23):
one and a half out. Yeah, let's make a run
close strong, come on back with these SENSEI Reds.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
All right, I don't know, okay, I don't know.
Speaker 38 (01:13:33):
I just it's okay to beat cocky right now, we're
one of Oh, we don't get that many opportunities of
being undefeated and going into a game. So yes, get excited,
say that we're gonna beat the Jaguars thirty to ten.
Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
Get drug, get your tailgate.
Speaker 38 (01:13:49):
These say, have fun and enjoy the emotions of being confident.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
It's okay.
Speaker 12 (01:13:54):
And if they lose, it's fine.
Speaker 11 (01:13:56):
We'll just go to the same old Bengals that we
always do.
Speaker 6 (01:13:59):
It's fine this country, I.
Speaker 39 (01:14:01):
Said about the Red it did, it did, So we
have Mark the Florist. Yes, can we go ahead and
call Mike the mortician? It did is always negative and
just killing our city team. Worry about La bud Dang Okeydang.
Speaker 22 (01:14:21):
Not a Xavier fan, but it should definitely go like
this Red's Bengals, FC Muskies the EUI State Berkats in Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
That's a good point. It's a really good point. YEP.
I don't hate that at all. It's good. I don't
hate that at all I might. I might add that
to the hopper that was not gonna lie.
Speaker 40 (01:14:39):
I'm feeling a little bit queasy ever since I heard
Tony Pike and Mike and La slobber all over the
Green Bay Packers after only a two week sample size,
they're ready to crown them.
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
I love you, Jordans.
Speaker 40 (01:14:57):
The Bengals are lucky either not playing the Packers, otherwise
they would be.
Speaker 12 (01:15:01):
Spayed to nonsense.
Speaker 6 (01:15:04):
If you're the Bengals, you fear no one. Who day.
Speaker 5 (01:15:09):
It's got a good point. I mean, you're all over
Jordan love and then all of a sudden you love
the guy. After two weeks he was like nineteen to
thirty one.
Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
Yesterday he looked good man.
Speaker 26 (01:15:18):
Congratulations to Ted Carris. And since he had charity initiative,
he should branch out to other cities. He could have
an Indie hat for Indianapolis. He could have a Lexi
hat for Lexington. He could have a louis hat for Louisville,
and for Cleveland. He could have a hat that says.
Speaker 3 (01:15:39):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 6 (01:15:40):
Yeah, yeah, boys.
Speaker 7 (01:15:43):
I'm down here at this waffle house and I can't
find mo anywhere. I thought for sure I could get
me a gift card. Man. The megs and sausage is
real good. Anyways, do you think that green Bay secondary.
Speaker 6 (01:15:55):
Is that good?
Speaker 41 (01:15:56):
Or could Washington just not get any separation? I know
Washington they're not very deep at wide receiver spot. But man,
that Green Bay defense I think is something to worry
about rather than their offense.
Speaker 4 (01:16:09):
I have a hard time believing Noah Brown and Deebo
Samuel and Terry McLaurin just can't get open.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Still flexing, repping my city out here in sunny hot
and z on it. What up, Tony?
Speaker 21 (01:16:19):
What up?
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Buddy man?
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
I did something I was supposed to do last night.
Speaker 21 (01:16:23):
I watched baseball, watched the Mets game, and I caught
this fever call Hope they did it to him again?
Reds Real talk Tay two three and we'll see what's happening.
The Chase interview yesterday. I feel you, Chase. We all say, Tea,
I already know what it is. I got one for you, buddy.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
How about this?
Speaker 21 (01:16:39):
Every time he catched the ball, we all say, Chase yays,
it's still Bengals thirty one, bingles hot, Chase.
Speaker 22 (01:16:48):
Man.
Speaker 25 (01:16:49):
The Reds are hanging in there. They're technically still hanging around.
But forgive me if I refuse to get sucked in.
I've seen his story so many times, and I just
refuse to get sucked in and made a full of
for the seven eighty second time.
Speaker 3 (01:17:05):
Full of crap.
Speaker 25 (01:17:05):
That was a start on Sunday, all beating against a
terrible appearance.
Speaker 6 (01:17:09):
But they were still.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
Terrible on third down, still terrible on fourth down.
Speaker 25 (01:17:12):
So I mean, they're gonna need to be much much
better if they're going to be considered a real contender.
Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
I'm just gonna see how I can just play both
sides of the fence. Yeah, I mean there are people
that have made a long, successful career out.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
Of doing that.
Speaker 37 (01:17:27):
Tony Austen in here, have you guys ever seen sack sandwich?
Speaker 41 (01:17:33):
I want to see the Bengals get a sack sandwich
on Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 37 (01:17:37):
Turn that guy into a true Eastern Island statue.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
He does low key look like for those statues. Hey, boys,
I just want to give you my prediction for this weekend.
Speaker 25 (01:17:49):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
I predict Reds win for to one, three, two, six, four. Okay,
all right, Austin, Tony Ryan, how you guys today?
Speaker 23 (01:18:03):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:18:04):
Sounds beautiful. I'm excited for this Reds three game series.
We'll do well. We'll do well one game at a time.
Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
Uh Sjamar Stewart gets his first sack Sunday twenty six,
twenty Bengals who go Reds.
Speaker 5 (01:18:19):
Twenty six twenty Bengals. Okay, I might be a score
of GOMMI I would imagine.
Speaker 22 (01:18:25):
Not.
Speaker 42 (01:18:27):
Jordan Love, I do not believe the hype. He's a
modern day Andy Dalton. He's gonna put up some ok stats,
he might make the playoffs, but he's gonna lose once
he gets there to the teams with real quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:18:39):
Okay, modern day Andy Dalton? Can you be paying about
to say that he's still in the league? Oh goodness, jezuey.
All right, we're done. I got four saved here.
Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
All right? We do those when we get back.
Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Sure On ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, thanks to
Cincy Shirts.
Speaker 11 (01:18:59):

We will play the four in the hopper and we'll
designate a winner for today.
Speaker 43 (01:19:59):
Here are the one I have saved, ay Tony and Austin,
Jim from Ross and Zach's gotta see that the d
personnel groups before he calls the play and leaves show
little to no time to switch the plays or the protections.
Some misuse of millionaires yesterday when is in law?
Speaker 28 (01:20:15):
That's when the Browns kicker can't spell Schmidt, he can't
kick with Schmidt and the game like his name doesn't
end in FG.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
If I've crossed.
Speaker 43 (01:20:24):
Legal boundaries called the officers of Yo C Vash Higgins
and Chase. But during on the weekday they're not open
on Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:20:30):
Dang, that was great.
Speaker 26 (01:20:34):
With the main concern being Jacksonville's Travis n Ten. It
could be a big get day for linebackers for the Bengals,
including Grin and Barrett, Carter Soren, Orrin Burks, Demetrious Knight
and the Pips and logan Hello, mister Wilson Bengals thirty
(01:20:57):
to twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
Okay, that's good. That's good.
Speaker 6 (01:21:01):
Also, that's very good.
Speaker 26 (01:21:02):
Congratulations to Ted Carris and Is. Since he had charity initiative,
he should branch out to other cities. He could have
an Indie hat for Indianapolis. He could have a Lexi
hat for Lexington. He could have a louis hat for Louisville,
and for Cleveland.
Speaker 12 (01:21:16):
He could have a hat that says.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
I think that was the same guy.
Speaker 12 (01:21:24):
Guy.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
That's that's tough to be.
Speaker 22 (01:21:25):
Yeah, not a Xavier fan, but it should definitely go
like this, Red's Bengals f C Muskies the r State
be Cats in.
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
Kentucky's f Muskies. Makes sense. That's good, makes sense, that's
a good jingle. And if it was by itself, I'd
say probably the winner as the first one. But the
fact that I did sound like the same guy didn't
with in the middle. We had our guy with two
in a row. There, that's a winner, and so he
will be getting a SENSI Shirts gift. Shout out unbelievable.
(01:21:55):
Let me see if I see if I can find
his name here. He didn't have a name listed. I
got his email address, though, so I'm gonna send him
an email. Be on the lookout, partner. Congratulations to you
on the lookout for an email.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Unnamed one.
Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
Yeah, guy one whose name we don't speak of. That's
a Harry Potter reference because I think that means Baltimore.
I'm not mistaken. Let's break.
Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
Do they have like their own language Harry Potter? I
don't think so. Okay, I think that's English.
Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
No, but like is there's like there's certain words and
stuff that they say. Yeah, sometimes they speak in tongue.
Speaker 19 (01:22:36):
I know what that is?
Speaker 11 (01:22:40):
What do we have?
Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
I know we got to talk to Mo again. What
else do we have?
Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
We've also well we got football in the Natty. We'll
talk briefly to to Mo during that and this will
be our last conversation with Mo. I think we should
ask him. So MO has to go down the hall
today work on a different radio. Yeah, and so he's
going to be here, which is very rare. Yes, on
(01:23:06):
a Friday. Should we ask him even though he's already
been on the show three times and about to be
on the show for a fourth time.
Speaker 3 (01:23:13):
I should we ask him if he wants to join
us for quick hits. I'm sure he'd be all in
for that.
Speaker 4 (01:23:18):
We'll ask him that when we get back, we'll finish
up our two hour three Tom gallaerder FC Cincinnati withay guy,
and we've got to pick him, pick him a sheet
that we got to make, some college, high school and
NFL picks. All of that's still ahead since he three
sixty Friday Football Frendsy on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports.
Speaker 10 (01:23:36):
This is Football in the NATI, brought you and part
by Bod Blight and by Oakley Greens on ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 4 (01:23:48):
Let's go Friday Football Frenzy, Football in the Natti. As
we wind down our number two, Tom Gallater will join
us to kick off our number three. But that's not
the only guest. We've got to We've got to talk
because we're doing one final check in, yeah, with our
guy right across the road from us right now the
Kenwood location, not the Kenwood Mall, not the town Center,
(01:24:10):
because there is a rally House in there, but right
across the street from our studio on Kenwood Road is
Rally House and Moe has been at rally House since
noon and he's had a lot of fun with it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
What's up, Mal?
Speaker 12 (01:24:22):
This has been an awesome experience. You know, Tom Goletter
is going to join you. If you're an FC Cincinnati
fan and you're going to that game tomorrow they take
on Nashville. Well, they've got FC Cincinnati gear more than
anybody in town, and so you could load up on that.
You could get an orange FC Cincinnati shirt and then
try to pass that off as your orange Bengal shirt.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
On you're able to double dip.
Speaker 11 (01:24:43):
You could double dip if you're a Bengals fan and
you're going to the game, or you're just like, you
know what, I need a new shirt or a hat
for the season. I want a new.
Speaker 12 (01:24:52):
Jersey for the season. You name the player, you can
get it. You can get it.
Speaker 11 (01:24:55):
Here at Rally House, or if you're thinking, you know,
I want to developed this like online persona where all
I do is tweet about the Bengals and how great
they are and dress like, you know, a Bengals super
fan every day. You could do that here too, because
you name it. When it comes to the Bengals, they
(01:25:16):
have it. But really, for this Sunday, you need the
orange you need, and they have all the orange gear
that you could ever ask for. Also, I am actually
standing in the Cincinnati Cyclones corner. Years ago Austin Elmore
dropped the first pocket the Cyclones game and all we
asked for were a couple of Cyclones hats and they
told us no, Well, they have Cyclones hats here. So
(01:25:36):
maybe the next time Austin drops the pocket of Cyclones game,
he and I can wear hats instead of asking the
Cyclones for hats that they won't give us. Did you
name it that pick the team here in the greater
Cincinnati region, they've got it. Garrett rally House sideline gear,
orange black white jerseys, cold weather gear for when it
(01:25:58):
you know, gets cold. You name it, they've got it.
Here at Rally House. We are at the Montgomery Road
location here in Kenwood for another few minutes. We cannot
thank the staff here enough for having it so it's
been unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
You mentioned sideline gear, anything Bearcat related that I maybe
should pick up to wear on the sidelines tomorrow.
Speaker 11 (01:26:13):
Oh, oh, Tony you, I mean, I'll tell you what it's.
They've got warm weather gear. They've got some polo shirts
here that I think are like the coolest U see
polo shirts I've ever seen. You know, I like lightweight hoodies.
They've got some Nike lightweight hoodies that'll be perfect, like
when you have that fall day on the sideline. I'm
standing in front of it right now, just like gray
(01:26:36):
U see Nike pullover? Has you written all over it?
Perfect on the sideline. I mean it's if you're a
Bearcats fan and you need something that says, hey, I'm
a Bearcats fan. You got to come to rally house.
Speaker 4 (01:26:50):
Lastly, have you been spending the time in between these conversations.
Have you just been kind of perusing through the different
team sections. Have you been spent more time talking folks?
What are you been doing to fill the last couple
of hours?
Speaker 11 (01:27:03):
Well, a little bit of everything. You know, we've given
away some gift cards to folks who are you know,
listening to you guys. You know, I've I've actually kind
of been helping the staff here out. I did help
this woman, younger girl came by and she was looking
for an item from one of the higher racks and
I went and got the poll and pulled it down.
For Yes, if I'm here, I might as well help,
(01:27:27):
might as well do some work. But yeah, it's it's
been I've I've been sort of putting together a wish
list because you know, my birthday's coming up, and then
we got Christmas, a little bit of a wish list
for you know, for me if if folks are like,
hey man, what what can we get you for either
of those occasions, I've I've put it together here at
Rally House.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
Very nice. It's been great talking to you.
Speaker 6 (01:27:49):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:27:49):
I understand you're going to be on the air down
the hallway in just over an hour, Is that true?
Speaker 11 (01:27:54):
Yeah, I'm joining Eddy Fingers and Jason Williams and we're
a football frenzy. In the middle of football frenzy, we
got a guy from the trans Hyperian Orchestra on with it.
Speaker 14 (01:28:05):
Were you so?
Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
Were you playing on just swinging by for quick hits
today too. While you're here, you might as well.
Speaker 17 (01:28:11):
I can.
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
Yeah, okay, we'll talk to you. Get in an hour
then seeing about an hour moment.
Speaker 12 (01:28:17):
I can't wait.
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
I see guy.
Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
Thanks. I love this. It's so funny. Grand Canyon Mule,
nothing like it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:26):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (01:28:27):
Can I tell you a player I'm worried about, please,
Brenton Strange. Oh yeah, tight end ye Jacksonville Jaguars fantasy team.
He's six foot four, two hundred and fifty three pounds.
This is his third year of the National Football League.
He's from Penn State. I was watching some Jags tape.
(01:28:48):
This dude not only recorded four catches for fifty nine
yards against the Panthers, but he brought the boom in
the run game. Yeah, blocking inside zone split where that
tight end comes across the formation on a defensive end,
put buddy into ground.
Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
Give me one through four.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
This dude is.
Speaker 5 (01:29:05):
Gonna have an impact in the game. Bengals always seemed
to struggle with tight ends. I'm worried about Brenton Strange
most concerning to least concerning. If I give you Travis Hunter,
Brian Thomas, Travis etn or Brenton Strange, it would be
Brian Thomas, and then it would be Travis Hunter, and
then it would be the ETN fella and then it
would be Brenton Strange. I'm telling you the Bengals know
(01:29:29):
about those other three guys. I hope they know about
number eighty five for Jacksonville.
Speaker 6 (01:29:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:29:33):
I think I said earlier in the week, I was,
you know, kind of mid fantasy football draft and the
top tight ends are taken and I'm looking around, like, okay,
where and who is someone that I can get? And
that was one of the names that literally came up
on like every draft experts late round steal at tight
(01:29:55):
end because of his usage rate, because of the relationship
with Trevor Lawrence. He I believe he was their leading
receiver against the Panthers.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
That might be correct.
Speaker 4 (01:30:04):
Yeah, Okay, something to watch for, something to watch for.
Coming up in the third and final hour of this program,
the Friday Football Frenzy, Tom GALLARDA will join us. There
is a massive, massive match at Tiquo Stadium tomorrow night
with Nashville coming into town. We also got to ask
Tommy what happened on Sunday with his Cleveland Browns probably
(01:30:26):
a little bittersweet for Tommy watching that thing unfold. After that,
I've got high school, I've got college, I've got NFL games.
We're gonna pick him and according to what we just
learned from Mo, we'll talk to Mo for quick hits.
All of that's still ahead. On a Friday Football Frenzy
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station, Thanks to Cincy Shirts.
Speaker 10 (01:30:48):
You've been listening to Football in the NATI on ESPN
fifteen thirty, the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 3 (01:31:00):
When your commercial prop.
Speaker 1 (01:31:01):

Speaker 4 (01:31:37):
All right, welcome back, It is our three thanks to
Penn Station. Thank you for listening on the Friday Football frenzy.
You know what time it is because we get a
chance to talk a different type of football each and
every Friday. This with the man you know him as
the voice of FC Cincinnati. The Orange Blue back in
action tomorrow against Nashville. It's a big one and we
got to discuss it now with Tom Galader. Tommy g
(01:31:59):
what's up, Hello.
Speaker 6 (01:32:01):
Tony, Tony, Happy Friday.
Speaker 8 (01:32:04):
Glad to be here with you in our normal slot,
and glad to get get back to work Saturday night
and hopefully see a win inside the QL Stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:32:12):
I can't imagine how good it is for you to
be able to get back to work and maybe erase
the bad taste that was Sunday lingering because we have
to do it. Let's rip the band aid off. Let's
not hide it to the back.
Speaker 6 (01:32:25):
No, I have to wait till the end of the segment.
Speaker 4 (01:32:27):
You're right, everything shaping up for what you needed. Joe
Flacco turning back the hands of time. The defense holds
the Bengals to seven yards in the second half, and
yet you're left coming up just short at the end
of the game. What were your overall takeaways from last Sunday?
Speaker 6 (01:32:47):
Defense was really good? I think I think that's fair.
Speaker 8 (01:32:50):
I'm out there in the running for Defensive Player of
the Year again. You know, I was a couple of
ookies shine Joe Flaco did en Off. You know, the
kicking game was obviously tragically disappointing. You know, I had
a friend, I'm interested in your take on this situation.
I had a friend asked, you know, how or not
two really good kickers in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:33:11):
Yeah, because it does feel like some kickers, like fifty
five is a chip shot anymore?
Speaker 8 (01:33:17):
Right, Like the pool should be really deep considering there's
how many how many uh uh, what do we call it?
Speaker 6 (01:33:25):
One division?
Speaker 8 (01:33:25):
One FCSS Championship division whatever, Like how many college football
teams had a highlighted more there one hundred and fifty
at least one hundred and twenty five, Yeah, at least right,
so one hundred and twenty five are the first drink kickers.
And I mean you walked out a specialist room before,
like they got like three of them on every team,
And like, how how is the pool not so deep
(01:33:49):
that like every guy's a stud.
Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
Yeah, it's just that's a good tragic you know, I don't.
Speaker 6 (01:33:56):
Know what And look, maybe maybe this kid is a
stud and a had a really really bad end the game.
Speaker 5 (01:34:02):
This might be crazy, but the style of football that
is used in the NFL and specifically the K ball,
and then the width of the hashes and uprights in
the college football and it's all different.
Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
So I think there's a huge we need some uniformity.
Speaker 5 (01:34:18):
Yes, I've always said that uniformity and the rules and
the dimensions all of it between college and the area.
Speaker 12 (01:34:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:34:25):
I mean you listen when when you go on from
college baseball to college to whatever level you land at,
like the bases or my son's playing at mejor League
baseball at fourteen years old.
Speaker 6 (01:34:36):
He's playing at meejor League baseball lengths, right, Yeah, you
know the back at ten foot?
Speaker 8 (01:34:41):
Who want your kids older than my ten or eight
or nine something like that, Right, It's like the hoop's
not moving at that point.
Speaker 6 (01:34:47):
Yeah, so yeah, maybe that needs to be explored.
Speaker 8 (01:34:50):
But that part was frustrating obviously, the late trying to
drive there and win the game.
Speaker 6 (01:34:55):
I mean, it's just it's it's just unfortunate for my brown.
So that's good.
Speaker 3 (01:35:00):
It gets easier.
Speaker 8 (01:35:00):
This was Yeah, Loddie and the Ravens are kind enough
to settle their thirtieth anniversary of moving to Baltimore, clear
complete coincidenting off a disaster. Yeah, I mean, I don't
get easier. And then Packers, Yeah, who look awfully good?
Speaker 3 (01:35:18):
Yep, so what And soccer, Yes, let's talk FC Cincinnati.
Speaker 6 (01:35:25):
Orange and blue. Now, no more orange and brown or
orange black, Let's go to orange and blue.
Speaker 4 (01:35:29):
Well, we talked last week about the disappointing results for
FC Cincinnati as of late. When we spoke last week,
they were coming off the one nil loss to Philly,
and you had the weekend off, you had some time
to kind of regroup, and now here comes to Nashville.
Speaker 3 (01:35:46):
Team Tommy. We we talked about this before.
Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
The Eastern Conference standings are so tight that if you
don't take care of business against Nashville, you could slide
back from second to maybe even fourth by the end
of this weekend. This is a massive, massive game in
a and if you had any hope of catching Philly,
feels like you got to get three tomorrow night.
Speaker 8 (01:36:06):
Yeah, I mean, obviously the lost two weeks ago was
pretty devastating as far as pushing you five points back
with five games to go, which is a really cooky situation.
But now all of a sudden, you're staring it down
and you're only two points ahead of Nashville, who's, like
you said, in fourth, and with a win, Nashville jumps
ahead in the table and they get a little bit
(01:36:29):
complicated from there.
Speaker 6 (01:36:31):
So yeah, you're you're home in another playoff like match.
Speaker 8 (01:36:35):
Again, it's a really good team, a team that you
might see in the playoffs, a team that you want
to make sure you're ahead of in the standings because
you know he's not gonna win any tiebreakers on goal
differential except for maybe Columbus right now, who's a plus four?
Speaker 6 (01:36:48):
Is there the plus six?
Speaker 8 (01:36:49):
I mean, National's in fourth place at plus sixteen when
land on Miami in fifth and sixth, but plus fourteen,
So they're gonna win those tiebreakers if they have more
wins and they're even on point term. Sorry, if the
wins are even and the points are even and they
go to the gold differential and those guys will have
the advantage.
Speaker 6 (01:37:04):
So listen, it is so important to find a way.
Speaker 8 (01:37:09):
To come out to have the right intensity from the jump,
to to have the right plan because the national team
is good, albeit they've struggled a little bit. They've lost
some of their form, you know, over the last couple
of weeks and league play as well, So it'll be
really interesting to see one team that takes control early.
Speaker 6 (01:37:24):
You know, the home goal scoring drought.
Speaker 8 (01:37:26):
Now, the two hundred and ninety minutes without a goal
at home, I haven't gone through. I'll do it tomorrow
and see I don't. I would imagine that since Pat
Nooning took over, the team has not gone two hundred
ninety minutes at home without a goal, or even three
straight games.
Speaker 6 (01:37:41):
Which would be two hundred and seventy minutes.
Speaker 8 (01:37:42):
They get to go back twenty minutes into that game
at Miami, which seems like an engal months ago. It
was two months ago. Now, I guess that Miami game
the third goal seven minute. So yeah, that's a little
bit of a hedgecrasher, and I'm sure that a lot
of attention in time Pat have acknowledge as much spent
on it during the break. The good news some of
the new guys back in Brenner a lot of time
(01:38:05):
to train here. Did you have a chance to stay
with him with the Barcas game.
Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
I didn't get a chance till it was who knew
it was funny.
Speaker 6 (01:38:12):
I was sitting there on my Saturday off and looking
at social media.
Speaker 8 (01:38:15):
And who knew that that Brenner being at that game
was like the international break social media post that I needed. Yeah,
he was just unexpected of everybody who who might show
up on the sideline A good and good on him
for not you know, taking off going to be turning
thing from being here and taking in the Bearcats game
and they got in Jersey's gonna give a gifts.
Speaker 6 (01:38:34):
That was pretty cool.
Speaker 8 (01:38:36):
But you know, so he's had time to get you know,
more ingrained into the system. You know, Kevin Dankan unfortunately
was away on international break, so.
Speaker 6 (01:38:43):
They didn't really get to work together. But uh, you know,
Kevin Kevin back in training.
Speaker 8 (01:38:47):
Today, so you know they've been able to hopefully get
more on the same page. Obviously Evander was around, so
he's able to work with him. I think with the
new editions coming in this time, probably has been good
and probably give the team a little bit of sool
searching figure five games like let's go win those five
and get it for them going into playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:39:06):
And if you do that, then you kind of see
how your cards a lie.
Speaker 4 (01:39:08):
The rest of the way, How difficult is it because
the season is so long and there's different breaks, How
difficult is it to find that form and to find
it at the exact time you need to because with
the season length, you see teams that are there and
then they fall off and then they're back. But it
feels like you just have to have a unbelievable feel
(01:39:29):
of how to get it going in the right direction
at the most opportune time. And obviously health and injuries
play a big role, but it feels like there's a
lot that goes into this for a coach or a
manager at this level to be able to kind of
dictate how you get them to play the best at
that time.
Speaker 8 (01:39:46):
Yeah, I mean, look when one interesting thing, you won
this watershow two years ago. There never really was a
severe dip in form, and if there was, there was
a couple of draws. You know, there was never really
a concern form. And then last year I thought the
first half of the season team was in maybe even
better for him than twenty three, and they actually dropped
after in the home stretch and obviously we're eliminated in
the first round by New York City. This year, it's
(01:40:07):
been kind of stretches, right, You had the stretch in
April started into March actually with the win going to
Nashville and getting a two to one win. Then you
had a perfect month of April, the four straight wins,
so you were at five straight wins. At some point
you were at seven of eight victories across your league
games going into middle of Bay, and remember that's when
the team jumped in the first place for the first
(01:40:28):
time all year, and you're like, all right, let's go,
Like came on. You had a big game up in Columbus,
you got a draw out of it, no big deal.
And then it was Atlanta, Dallas and DC. You had
three you know, very poor teams. So the team was
gonna take it over, right, And remember a conversation, we
had an n many lost draw, loss, and the forum
going into that international break was a disaster and you
got one point out of the possible nine against the
(01:40:51):
situation where you really thought you should get all nine.
But then they had to break some time to think
about it. They came back win, win, win, all on
the roads England, Montreal, Orlando's city obviously playing those very
good this year, came back to the home win against
Chicago and the tough loss against Columbus turned round with
inter Miami and saw Lake and then I draw up
Miami and you're like, okay, well again the found a form.
(01:41:13):
But they come out the league's cover break and obviously struggled.
Got the win in Portland three to two, but the
three straight one nil losses at home.
Speaker 6 (01:41:21):
So it's the biggest roller coasters.
Speaker 8 (01:41:22):
Hopefully now that you know it's going back to those
those victories and positive results come out of the losses
that we've seen. I think it's hard, and I think
you look at Nashville and I mentioned they're in a
little bit of a tough run of form. They've lost
four or five matches, and that's coming off of US tratch.
They wish they were almost unbeatable. Ahead of that, they
(01:41:44):
were playing really really well, you know, before things kind
of fell off and we're picking up win after win.
So you know, these two teams are not unique to
Ita had a little bit of a downswing. Now obviously
they are red hot and Columbus is going through it
right now. They've dropped off, so it's going to be
(01:42:05):
very intriguing to kind of see who who turns it
on and It's always been said like a lot of
you know, getting in the playoffs in the right rhythm
and then getting red hot at the right time. You know,
look at what New York Red Bulls did last year.
They got red hot at the.
Speaker 6 (01:42:20):
Right time and ran all the way through to them
at the final.
Speaker 8 (01:42:23):
I think something that's been interesting, and I was talking
to somebody about this earlier this week, is that I
can't remember many games I'm gonna try to go through
before we come on the air tomorrow night and cut
it up, is how many nights has Pat Newton been
able to put out his very best eleven of what
he had available at that moment in time on his roster, Like,
that's not gonna be the case tomorrow, even with with
(01:42:44):
most of the team healthy, You'll being Wolbedo, he's still
out right, and it's going to be for a couple
of weeks.
Speaker 6 (01:42:50):
So that's not making an excuse. That's been a reality.
Speaker 8 (01:42:53):
It's been a little bit unlucky that I imagine there's
only been a couple of nights where he's truly fell
he's had his best eleven available. But listen, this team
certainly had the pieces and the bodies and now they
have the weapons. You know, it's not whatever Pat Newton
thinks is the best starting eleven. They have weapons on
the bench to come in and help. We saw that
at the end of the last match where he had
(01:43:14):
like fourteen strikers on the field at.
Speaker 6 (01:43:15):
Some time, you know. And it'll be telling, but they
might get to a quick start against Nashville.
Speaker 4 (01:43:23):
If outside of the quick start strategically, what is in
your opinion that the biggest key to not only get
a win, get three points, but to erase these struggles
that they have been dealing with at home.
Speaker 8 (01:43:38):
Oh it's the two guys are top and hitting Muktah
and Sam Surage for Nashville, and they've been so good
this year, surged all the Many League Soccer twenty goals
on the season, Muktar looking like an MVP agin when
everyone was saying his performers had been dropping off the
last few years, and look the numbers certainly had since
he won the MVP a few years back. But they're
both playing at a really really high high an impressive level.
(01:44:01):
So if you're not shutting down Surge and mut then
they're gonna hurt you. And we've seen games this year
in Nashville, scored a whole bunch of goals and then
those two certainly have been involved. So defensively, he's got
to be strong, you know, patvel that that Matt I
picked up really minor and occumis to be training.
Speaker 6 (01:44:18):
This week that he's back into it. I was out
there today, he was training at full so I expected
that Matt'll be able to go.
Speaker 8 (01:44:24):
Robinson is healthy again after the break, missed those two
games going into it, but he's been training and now
as a contract extension, which is huge.
Speaker 6 (01:44:32):
So I think it starts with those two.
Speaker 8 (01:44:34):
Guys being in there together there and then whomever else
that Path puts together, you know, as part of his
starting eleven.
Speaker 6 (01:44:40):
But you've got to be really.
Speaker 8 (01:44:41):
Strong defensively against this national team, and I truly believe
like you've got to find a way to snap the
scoreless streak, you know, get a goal in the first
fifteen minutes and take the pressure off everybody. Everybody left
hail a little bit, and then you could push forward
and watch way through the game plan.
Speaker 6 (01:45:00):
Win that match.
Speaker 4 (01:45:01):
Tommy g the voice of FC Cincinnati, Tommy, you're the best.
We're about to do our pick him segment next. I've
got the Ravens and the Browns on the sheet, the
numbers eleven and a half. Are you laying the points?
Speaker 6 (01:45:15):
Yeah, that's give me, give me eleven and a half
for sure.
Speaker 5 (01:45:18):
Alright, alright, what's your response to saying that Derrick Henry
is hard to tackle?
Speaker 6 (01:45:26):
Shut off? Isn't that?
Speaker 12 (01:45:29):
Like?
Speaker 8 (01:45:33):
My fourteen year old son comes to me? I was like, Dad,
did you I'm like the son, you're fourteen. Do you
understand that.
Speaker 6 (01:45:41):
That's a bad thing to say? I don't.
Speaker 8 (01:45:43):
I don't care if you're thinking about if I'm the
running back for the Ravens, like I'd be really easy
to stop.
Speaker 6 (01:45:48):
But you don't say anything.
Speaker 12 (01:45:50):
No, keep keeping mind.
Speaker 8 (01:45:53):
He goes back in it and about all the time,
and our friend Terry Nelson to give him him grief
about it. But it's like Terry, Terry was was with
average and what he called it the quadruple single. He
played the bear case right like, you know, a couple
of points, read that, so and so forth down the
line of steels blocks. He's he's he's the average of
the quadruple single, and he you know, he he hooks
(01:46:13):
up with Bill Cook outside of practice, going in the
Crosstown shootout and tells and guarantees victory against Navier. Ye
guarantees victory. And he said, this is back in the day,
so you know, there's no cell phones like you have
the room phone, like the house phone. It makes up
six thirty in the morning with the phone ran and
you know who's on the other line read in the
morning paper with his coffee.
Speaker 3 (01:46:33):
Not good.
Speaker 8 (01:46:34):
He goes, get to my office right now and like
the whole walk over, you know exactly what was gonna be,
you know, and and Huggs read him to ride act
ye and you all better win because you just guaranteed it.
Speaker 6 (01:46:44):
So you don't go find you boys and tell them
to win the game for you and hope they wanted
to look.
Speaker 3 (01:46:49):
Like and hope that you're not one on one in
space with Derrick Henry right.
Speaker 6 (01:46:53):
Like when does when do these things work out for you?
For anybody?
Speaker 3 (01:46:57):
Like Johnson three?
Speaker 2 (01:47:01):
Right?
Speaker 6 (01:47:02):
Like just stop talking please like this you.
Speaker 4 (01:47:07):
Watch fourteen and oh if you're gonna run your mif yep, yeah, Tommy,
you're the best man.
Speaker 8 (01:47:12):
I see we had to finish it the same, ay,
now you get the first time. I'm excited about tomorrow night.
Speaker 6 (01:47:16):
Now you get me a first.
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Well, we got to a great weekend. Tommy, it's you
round up.
Speaker 6 (01:47:20):
I love you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
Thanks Tom, Love you Tom.
Speaker 6 (01:47:22):
Thanks Friday, Love you man.
Speaker 4 (01:47:24):
Friday Football Frenzy continues next with our picks for the
week on the fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 15 (01:47:32):
It's a bigny this afternoon at three for Bengals pep
Rally on the official home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN
fifteen thirty.
Speaker 23 (01:47:40):
Cincy three sixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.
Speaker 4 (01:47:48):
Oh yeah, we got picks to make Friday. It's our
three Thanks to Penn Station. Thanks for listening to the
Friday Football Frenzy. We disagreed on what the overall record
was from week one. I know you're about five games
ahead of me.
Speaker 5 (01:48:03):
I'm gonna go with what you said, which was thirteen
and six yep for me, yep, And you were what.
Speaker 3 (01:48:09):
Thirteen and six, that's nineteen. I think I had eight wins.
It pushed me at eight and eleven.
Speaker 5 (01:48:15):
Eight and eleven, Okay, so you've got the early lead
if I'm not mistaken. I was perfect in the high school.
You were five and oh you were all right, well,
let's get it started. I'm eventually gonna have to start
picking at the high school level with my head and
not my heart. But thus here we are again. That's
what led me to perfect.
Speaker 4 (01:48:33):
We lead things off on a Friday, and they call
them Purple Fridays on the West Side, all the aura.
But this is a battle on North Bend Road. Elder
travels to Lasal. They take on the Lancers. Elder, Lassal,
who you got? You know, I was talking with the
people in the office this morning. These are West Siders.
These are Purple Friday guys. These are elder people I
(01:48:55):
was talking with and they said, tonight maybe the last
chance for Elder to get a win for a while. Oh,
because of that schedule. So for that reason, I say,
Elder understands the significance of what is at stake.
Speaker 3 (01:49:07):
And they go on the road and beat less.
Speaker 4 (01:49:09):
Out Ramsey, the Panthers chug Ramsey and the Panthers stay perfect.
How about this the Fox nineteen game of the week
at the high school level. Three and oh Lebanon at
three and oh Anderson. If I'm not mistaken, We've said
this before. I think Anderson's coach is the one that
never punts. Oh, it could be like fourth and thirty
backed up on their own ten yard line and they
(01:49:30):
go for it. They never punt, and I believe they
kick on side kicks exclusively. Okay, interesting with that, what
you want, I'll take Anderson. I think they're the Raptors. Now,
maybe the Raptors. I was gonna say, I'll take Dan
Campbell and Anderson if that's the case. But more than anything,
because I once played a game at Lebanon when Sydney
(01:49:50):
came down to Lebanon to play a game and I
made a tackle and they announced tackle made on the
play by number seventy one Austin Elmer. Oh that's not
my name. Gimme Anderson.
Speaker 14 (01:50:03):
I like that. I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
Good reasoning. Ye, Princeton is at Lakota West. Princeton the
Vikings at Lakota West.
Speaker 5 (01:50:12):
Yeah, what do you think I got Lakota West? Okay,
Now who are you taking?
Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
This is a tough one for me because Princeton at
the start of the year, they jumped out all over
Moler Moeller came back and eventually wins the game. They
dominate cole Rain, which everyone's doing right now. They had
a good win on the road forty seven to nothing
at Sycamore. I think this one's close. I just think
Lakota West is a little bit better in this one.
Speaker 3 (01:50:38):
Tonight. You're following me around aboard so far. Yep, here's well.
Speaker 4 (01:50:42):
We probably won't differentiate here because Sydney takes on Butler tonight. Yeah,
and I did my research, huh. And last week Sydney
was beaten down by Stebbins like a Grand Canyon mule.
Butler beat down Stebbins yep vs IV. Yeah, Butler beats
(01:51:02):
down Sydney. Butler got a decent team this year.
Speaker 3 (01:51:04):
I was, I said.
Speaker 5 (01:51:06):
Last week, I expressed, I expressed my doubts about the
Yellow Jackets and the regime change over there, and a
source told me that one and nine is less likely
than to ten for the Yellow Jackets this year.
Speaker 14 (01:51:22):
Boys.
Speaker 5 (01:51:22):
So I'm going to take the Aviators at home, which
is a beautiful stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
Beautiful stadium.
Speaker 5 (01:51:28):
I'll take Butler at home, and then the right next
door to the Sack by the Way, Friendling Activity Center,
friendly confines of Deer Park High School with my dear
friend right down the hall, Willie Cunningham. We've been going
back and forth all week. We have a double or
nothing hot fudge Sunday. Bet on this game tonight. I've
said it once and I'll say it again. You won't
(01:51:49):
find a better OH TO three team in the Tri
State area than the Reading and Blue Devils. They have
been tested many times this year.
Speaker 3 (01:51:56):
Already.
Speaker 4 (01:51:57):
They played a good Williamsburg team, a very good Batavia team.
They took Aiken to the ropes last week. Deer Park.
Not so much Belmont Schroeder, nor would they've not played anyone.
Reading has beaten Austin deer Park seven years in a row.
Seven straight times have the Blue Devils beat the deer
(01:52:21):
Park Wildcats.
Speaker 3 (01:52:22):
Go ahead and mark it up. Make it eight.
Speaker 4 (01:52:24):
Reading goes and gets some road kill. They beat the
deer Park Wildcats for the eighth straight year.
Speaker 5 (01:52:29):
My sources inside both organizations tell me injuries will play
a role in the availability of key players tonight, and
for that reason, I'll take deer Park to end that streak.
Speaker 4 (01:52:39):
Let's get to the college game, Number twelve, Clemson at
Georgia Tech. Some are asking Austin is Clemson fraudulent? Is
Dabo fraudulent? I don't think they are. Because of the
quarterback play. I'll take Clemson. They're only laying three and
a half. Give me the Tigers. Yeah, this is a
(01:53:01):
number that surprises me.
Speaker 5 (01:53:02):
I think Clemson is better than three and a half,
even if they're on the road at Georgia Tech. I
think this is a get right game for the Tigers.
They win comfortably. Give me Clemson.
Speaker 4 (01:53:11):
What about the Crimson Tide. They're gonna host Wisconsin. Yeah,
and they're gonna lay twenty one and a half for
Luke Fickle squad. They're not good in Madison. No, are
they good enough to cover twenty one and a half?
Speaker 3 (01:53:23):
No, they're not.
Speaker 5 (01:53:23):
Alabama win this game running away, Kaylin de Boor will
quiet the doubters at least for a week. They'll dominate
Luke Fickle and everything will be good to go. This
is classic late score lose by twenty. Bama wins Wisconsin
is the team that covers. Okay, Now, we have a
friend in the sales department that is a diehard South
(01:53:45):
Carolina fan. They're number eleven in the country. They host
the Diego Pavia Pavia Pavia. He runs his mouth a lot,
he do be talking, but my goodness, has he backed
it up. It's a good football team in Vanderbilt, but
it's a really good South Carolina team. The number is
four and a half. I'm comfortable laying four and a
half with the game being at South Carolina. Give me
(01:54:09):
the game, Cocks. Yeah, I'm right there with you. It's
tough to go into the House of the Cocks and
come out victorious. I got South Carolina winning that game
and covering that four and a half and shutting up
Diego Pavia, Pavillo.
Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
Whatever you want to call him. Yeah, shut out Trey
from Sales.
Speaker 12 (01:54:23):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
I do think those two teams do have a common opponent,
South Carolina, I believe. Have they already played Virginia Tech.
I believe they opened the season with forty four to eleven.
Vandy dominate him forty four to twenty on the road.
There is a common opponent. But you and I both
agree South Carolina gets to win. How about Florida? The
(01:54:43):
gauntlet of the schedule just getting started. LSU not overwhelming
last week in their win Florida. Is there any chance
of a bounce back here? LSU is laying a little
more than a touchdown at seven and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:54:57):
What do you think to two weeks into the season
of Florida Athletic director had to issue a vote of
confidence for Billy Napier in a statement. The beatdown that
he is about to receive at the hands of Brian
Kelly and the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge is going
to be so bad that Florida has no chance, no
choice but to fire Billy Napier after this performance.
Speaker 4 (01:55:17):
LSU in a route. LSU's got the best quarterback in
the country. They're at home, they knock off the reeling
Florida Gators, go Taigas, LSU wins and they cover Texas
A and M at Notre Dame. Austin the line of
six and a half have not seen Notre Dame since
that disappointing opening loss. I think they use the week off,
(01:55:37):
they figure out that they are a run first team.
They pound the rock, they beat Texas A and M,
and they cover the number.
Speaker 5 (01:55:45):
To be honest with you, I thought that this game
was at Kyle Field, But you're telling me it's in
South Bend. Oh do you want me to double check?
Can you double check that for me? No, you're right,
I see it right here. It's at Notre Dame Stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:55:58):
Damn it.
Speaker 5 (01:56:00):
Taking Texas A and I'm not gonna so I'm gonna
stick with Texas A and m.
Speaker 4 (01:56:03):
All right, how about this one early good SEC matchup,
at least on paper. Georgia, who I feel like I
don't know anything about against Tennessee. The volunteers are playing
host to Georgia and the line is three and a half,
getting three and a half for the home team.
Speaker 5 (01:56:21):
What do you think, Uh, Georgia is going to smoke
these dudes. Tennessee doesn't deserve my love after switching to Adidas.
Speaker 4 (01:56:29):
I think the environment's gonna be awesome. I think Rocky
Top's gonna be rocking through that field. But I think
at the end of the day, Georgia easily covers three
and a half. I was shocked it was just three
and a half. I think Tennessee is still breaking in
a new quarterback. Give me the Bulldogs South Florida. Impressive
resume so far, Boise, they beat Florida, They're not gonna
(01:56:51):
sneak up on anyone anymore. They go to number five Miami.
I was a little surprised at this being seventeen and
a half, so much so Austin. I'm like, well, that
number is way too high. And then I remembered our
good friend Dan Horde, and he said, if you're surprised
by a spread, someone knows something that you don't. I'm
surprised at seventeen and a half. That's why I'm taking Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
All right.
Speaker 5 (01:57:12):
I'm gonna take South Florida because it's never easy with
the Hurricanes. They always find a way to make it
more difficult than it's supposed to be. And I think
there's a chance USF knocks him off and becomes the
story of college football more than they already are.
Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
But if they don't, I think it's a close game. Okay,
the Bobby's versus the BUCkies. Oh you at number one
Ohio State Bobby's BUCkies thirty and a half?
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
Is that too many points?
Speaker 5 (01:57:40):
Austin? At first, I said, yes, I really did. But
I still believe in Ohio State. And it's gonna be
a night game, a night atmosphere at Ohio Stadium. Buckey's
fans only get one or two of those a year,
usually only one. They're gonna go nuts for. This atmosphere
is gonna be awesome. Buckeyes will cover that. They're gonna
win by five touchdowns. At least that would be good
(01:58:01):
for thirty five points.
Speaker 3 (01:58:02):
Don't think it's gonna be an easy game.
Speaker 5 (01:58:03):
I wouldn't be surprised if at the half Ohio is
hanging in there.
Speaker 4 (01:58:08):
I do for what it's worth like the over in
this game, because I do think, oh, you will score
some points. Finally, this number just came up. Okay, I
just checked with DraftKings. Northwestern State at Cincinnati forty three
and a half. Ooh, forty three and a half. I'd
take it up to sixty three and a half if
I had to give me the Bearcats to run rampant
(01:58:30):
on the Demons tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (01:58:31):
Yeah, you said that the expectations should be to win
this game by fifty and I stick with that. Sanderfield's
a bunch goes cuckoo for Coco puffs at Nippert Stadium
in a blackhouse. All right for the Bearcats, gimme uc
oh oh, you see there it is.
Speaker 4 (01:58:49):
Let's get through the NFL Bears at Lions minus six
and a half. I think the Lions bounce back, and
I think they have something for their former offensive coordinator
Ben Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:58:58):
Ben Johnson knows them to Bear's cover. They lose the game,
but they cover six and a half in a close
win in Detroit.
Speaker 4 (01:59:04):
All right, Bear Bills at Jets For whatever reason, I
feel like the Jets always play pretty well against the Bills.
I don't think the Jets win the game. I do
think they cover six and a half at home.
Speaker 5 (01:59:13):
I think this line is an overreaction to a bad
Buffalo defense and a good Jets offense, and week number
one Water finds its level, Buffalo covers the number, dominates
the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:59:24):
I like this some separation here. Seahawks at Steelers. Super
impressed with that Steelers offense. I think their defense finds
their level and I think they take care of the
Seahawks at Homan cover the number.
Speaker 5 (01:59:35):
I do have the Steelers covering, but I do think
there's a good chance Seattle wins this game. I think
it's a low scoring game. I think the defenses kind
of start to show up a little bit here. I'm
a big fanta Seattle's defense. I'm gonna say Seattle keeps
it close, but Pittsburgh wins twenty four to twenty and
covers at number.
Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
Broncos at Colts, I think I already know where you're
leaning in this one. Colts were very impressive in Week one.
I just need to see more of it. I think
bo Nicks in Denver they need a rebound from their
Week one, albeit a win was not pretty. Give me
the Broncos to cover one and a half as the
culture the home dogument. I'm right there with you, uh
Bucks at Texans. I put this on there because I
(02:00:13):
think it's an interesting one. Because the Texans start zero
to one, Bucks come from behind and get a win
in Week one. Texans do not want to start zhing two.
But I also think that the Bucks are going to
be a team that people think can go the distance
in the NFC. These are exactly the types of games
you go on the road and win, and for that reason,
I'll take the Bucks minus.
Speaker 3 (02:00:31):
Two and a half.
Speaker 5 (02:00:32):
I don't know what you've chosen as your win Schulers
cheesy spread of the week, but this one is the
one that jumped off the paper at me. It stinks
to high Heaven. Give me Tampa to crush this number.
Did you take the Texans? I took the Buck, You
took the Bucks. I'm with the Bucks, don't I don't
get that. I don't understand why the Texans are favored.
Speaker 4 (02:00:51):
What about the Browns and the Ravens. I always throw
the AFC North games on here, but the numbers eleven
and a half. I know Cleveland played well last week.
I know the the the Ravens had the absolute melt
down at the end. I think the Ravens get right.
I'll lay the eleven and a half. Yeah, I'm right
there with you. Thirtieth anniversary. I just saw that they
painted the end zones the way they did originally thirty
(02:01:12):
years ago in nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 3 (02:01:14):
It's gonna be sick. Give me Baltimore.
Speaker 4 (02:01:16):
Eagles at Chiefs Super Bowl rematch. Chiefs feel like they're
reeling a little bit. I saw earlier in the week.
Does anyone fear the Chiefs anymore? That's a great question.
I don't think the Eagles do. I think they go
in as a one and a half point road favorite
and they win the game and cover the number.
Speaker 5 (02:01:32):
This is a voodoo magic, evil Chiefs victory. They find
a way to win that they're not supposed to and
they cover that number. I got Kansas City winning. Now,
normally it's one thing just to do it because it's local.
But I think nationally This is one of those games
you got to keep an eye on. So let's make
this Austin our win Shualers spread of the weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:01:54):
Okay, can we do that?
Speaker 12 (02:01:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
Thank you to our friends at win Shulers. They're delicious,
Chief Spreads. Don't ask why they're so delicious. Just go
taste why they're so delicious. Make sure that your whether
it's a watch party, your holiday parties, whatever it may be,
there it is. Make sure you have win Shulers. Head
to the dairy section your favorite grocery store while supply
still meets demand. Elevate your taste, game and your party
(02:02:18):
with win Shulers. Bengals Jags three and a half point favorite,
usually two and a half, three points for just being
the home team, which I think makes this almost to
pick them. I think the Bengals make a statement. I
think the Bengals for the first time under Zach Taylor
win in week two, for the first time under Joe Burrow.
Speaker 3 (02:02:35):
They go to and zero. Give me the Bengals to
knock off the Jags and cover the number.
Speaker 5 (02:02:39):
A lot of people didn't hear this earlier this week
when Zach Taylor met with the media, but when he
did he dropped the Marvin Lewis line. Oh, he said,
I see better than I hear. Those were the exact
words that came out of the mouth of Zach Taylor Arani,
and I stand by those words. I see better than
I hear. When it comes to the Bengals defense, I
saw a little bit of it against the Cleveland Browns,
(02:03:02):
but I didn't see enough of it. I'm not confident enough.
I've said all summer that this is a trap game
and the Bengals need to watch out for it. I
don't want to do this, but I think Jacksonville wins
the game, and so for that reason, I think they
cover the number.
Speaker 3 (02:03:16):
I'll take the Jags here it is. That's our picks.
Speaker 4 (02:03:21):
If you agree or disagreed, let us know at Tony
Underscore Pike fifteen at Audiellmore a quick touch and go
when we come back, and then we will open it
up for quick hits. Still to go Friday Football Friends
of ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (02:03:38):
Loweger reality is they're probably not good enough.
Speaker 10 (02:03:42):
He dissects the local sports scene.
Speaker 3 (02:03:44):
They're not consistent enough.
Speaker 10 (02:03:45):
The way up fourth grader disects across not reliable Loweger
Today at three on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 9 (02:03:54):
Again Monday afternoon, it's the Tony and mo Football Show.
Join us at Twin Peaks in Westchester as we talk Angles,
Jags and Moore. Starting at three to oh five on
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 12 (02:04:07):
Three four is the rot again to.
Speaker 23 (02:04:11):
The York Harris sid Vader, the Philadelphia Legend, Groves and
the Villages have gone from down Florida Delphena so ahead
five to four.
Speaker 4 (02:04:25):
It is that our wind Shoolers call of the day
that has made some folks here in Cincinnati perk up
a little bit because the Mets lose again, meaning the
Reds go into their weekend series against the Athletics one
and a half back.
Speaker 3 (02:04:40):
In the wild Card.
Speaker 4 (02:04:40):
They're tied with the Giants who take on the uh
the Dodgers with Yoshi Nobu Yamamoto, Yamalone, Kershaw and Tyler Glass.
Speaker 3 (02:04:50):
Now on the mound.
Speaker 4 (02:04:51):
And I believe, I believe these Mets, who are ice
cold Austin. I believe they've got a head two or no.
They host Texas, but I think de gram is going
to pitch in this series for Texas. They they got
Jacob de Gram and then they've got Patrick Corbin in
the first two games of the series. Do the Texas Rangers,
(02:05:13):
If I'm not mistaken, the Texas Rangers are the best
pitching team in baseball. You would have to double check
me on that. But the way that they have pitched
all together this season has been really, really good.
Speaker 3 (02:05:29):
From an era standpoint, they are the tops in all baseball.
Speaker 5 (02:05:31):
All right, yeah, right, this guy knows ball. I thought
about baseball in a month and I've nailed that. Nailed it,
three point four to three. E r A nailed it.
By the way, I got the NFL game deview on
in here on NFL Network, Greg Rosenthal, Patrick Claybahn, and
Cynthia Freeland. They make their game picks. Yeah, two out
(02:05:54):
of three. Just picked the Jags, Oh boy, to beat
the bank.
Speaker 4 (02:05:57):
By the way, our Winshulers call of the day. You
can have a football party without win Shulers chief spreads.
You can also throw a pass without a receiver. You're
not gonna score points with either one of them. Oh,
so make sure you have plenty on hand. They've got
four options, original, Sharp, Jad Bacon, and pepper Jack.
Speaker 2 (02:06:12):
I love them all.
Speaker 3 (02:06:13):
Although I will you will too.
Speaker 5 (02:06:15):
I will say Marcus Mario Mariota through Marcus Mariota threw
a touchdown pass to himself in a playoff game once. Okay,
fun fact in Kansas City too. There it is, write
that down Quick Hits.
Speaker 4 (02:06:27):
Next Friday Football Frenzy ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 23 (02:06:32):
The Bengals are on the Pro three sixty continues on
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station. It's time for Cincy
three sixty Quick Hits at the ESPN fifteen.
Speaker 4 (02:06:45):
Somehow, some way, unbelievable, He's walked back across the street
and he spent his last couple hours at Rally House,
kind of like a game of Frogger crossing Montgomery Road.
And now you're gonna you're gonna head down the hall.
I have yes, what are you doing down the holiday?
I'm working with Eddie and Jason Williams today. Can't just
have my afternoon off? No, no, no, and Austin Oh yes, man.
Speaker 9 (02:07:06):
I've been told that we're mainly going to talk about sports, Okay,
so I get just I get to stay in my
lane talking about it.
Speaker 4 (02:07:14):
Like a conspiracy thing like when I did it. We
like it was legit, like, hey, we got to call
this guy. He kind of like wears a tinfoil hat. Yeah, Legitimately,
I was like, well, this is kind of out of
my element, but let's give him a call. Yeah, ask me,
you know you like any lines this weekend? Any games
pop out to you? He didn't know it, had no idea.
Speaker 3 (02:07:31):
Yeah, I am.
Speaker 9 (02:07:31):
We We are interviewing a guy with the Trans Siberian orchestrama.
Speaker 3 (02:07:35):
That's real.
Speaker 9 (02:07:36):
I'm gonna yeah, I'm gonna ask him who he likes
Bengals or Jacks. That might be my only question. I've
never known anything less about something.
Speaker 3 (02:07:43):
What Sunday come down to in your opinion. So I
think the.
Speaker 9 (02:07:47):
Jaguars are a really interesting team because I think there's
a lot of upside there. Liam Cohen is a great
offensive mind. He might be kind of weird, but he's
a great offensive mine. Trevor Lawrence is very talented. I'm
intrigued by how the rookie season is going to go
for Travis Hunter. They've got a great underrated wide receiver
and Brian Thomas only had one catch last week. They
did get Travis Edien going like, there's good offensive weaponry there.
(02:08:09):
So that worries me. I wonder emotionally and mechanically because
all the all the talk for months has been get
off to a good start, get off to a good start.
Isn't just go one to Oh, that's obviously a good
first step. I wonder is there some sort of letdown
based of we got our win. We didn't start zero
to one. Now we're coming home. We just got to
(02:08:32):
show up. Emotionally, I would like to think this team
is more mature than that. But you know, let's face it,
the Browns offense was never really gonna test the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (02:08:41):
I think Jacksonville's will.
Speaker 6 (02:08:42):
Sure.
Speaker 4 (02:08:43):
I'll get to talk more about this with you Sunday
at the Holy Grail. Yes, we'll be on for a
pregame show with Ken Brew. I'll also see it tomorrow.
Line just came out forty three and a half for
the Bearcats. They should cover it. They should win by
fifty at least they should they should win by nine touchdown.
Speaker 6 (02:09:00):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (02:09:00):
I mean, I do not want to show any disrespect
toward a college football team that I know is going
to show up and try. They're young, they just got
beat sixty six nothing. It's FCS this is not a
game that This is a game where if you're there
at halftime, you're like, all right.
Speaker 3 (02:09:19):
Yeah, correct, you know, yeah, get to see some young guys.
Speaker 9 (02:09:23):
But unfortunately, I don't know that they could play well
enough for anybody to change their mind about this time.
Speaker 3 (02:09:29):
I'm going to buy. And then you get a test
to Kansas.
Speaker 9 (02:09:31):
They lost to Nebraska and they were underwhelming against Bowling Green.
So if you felt like this team coming into the
season is going to be six and six, chances are
you still feel like they're going to be six and six.
I don't know that there's anything they can do tomorrow
to make anybody feel any better.
Speaker 4 (02:09:44):
Lastly, in thirty seconds, we mentioned the pitching matchups that
the Giants have to face with the Dodgers. The Mets
are going to see de Gram and the Reds get
the Athletics, who are a great hitting team. They do
not pitch well, but by so way, somehow they're a
game and a half out of the wild card. And
it's interesting again for the Reds.
Speaker 9 (02:10:05):
Five and one against Oakland, Sacramento lost Oaklamento whatever we're
calling them, five and one against the A's and Pirates
six and four against everybody else.
Speaker 3 (02:10:14):
Might not be likely, but it is doable. Eighty five wins?
Speaker 8 (02:10:17):
Does it?
Speaker 3 (02:10:18):
Maybe? Eighty four? Eighty five wins?
Speaker 4 (02:10:19):
Does it credible? That we're getting to talk about it
all thanks to the New York Mets.
Speaker 6 (02:10:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:10:24):
I turned it off. I watched the first inning last night.
They scored four.
Speaker 9 (02:10:26):
I'm like, up, there goes that same thing. I started
watching football. Yeah, I got the alert on my phone.
Reds are a game and a half back.
Speaker 4 (02:10:32):
Unbelievable. It's fun, unbelievab it's fun. Enjoy down the hall.
Speaker 9 (02:10:37):
Eddie and Jason Williams a great Friday. Williams are still
mad at me because they made fun of his That
be good. Then Green College.
Speaker 4 (02:10:45):
Gos pep rally is here. Moe's heading down the hall.
I'll see you tomorrow for the UC game. I'll see
a Sunday.
Speaker 3 (02:10:50):
The whole anything Dan Horde's a part of, or anything
Moegger is a part of. That's a have a great
rest of your Friday, Brendaman and Jones. Baseball is next.
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station
