Speaker 2 (00:34):
Come on, Yeah, welcome, look, welcome, Welcome the Friday Football Frenzy.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks the Skyline Chilly
as well as we kick off a beautiful Friday afternoon
here in the Queen City. Just good to get that
final push in, right there, Happy to be here.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Always good to get your last pushing push in.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Speaking of getting the last push in, how about Team USA. Yes,
they won the fourth and final match of the morning
session at the Ronner Cup. That means they're only down
three to one. Now you want to talk about just
taking win out of my sales, thrida one is better
than four nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
Threta one.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I'll tell you this, three to one feels like a
steal with how bad it was that a beat down
in the morning session from the European squad. Now USA
does salvage a point in the final group after taking
an all square match into seventeen. They win it to

(02:16):
barely barely salvage anything out of the morning. We'll see
if Team USA can rally in the afternoon session as well.
But the Ryder Cup is off and running. Speaking of
off and running, Austin, I'm going to be off and
running right after we get through our number one today.
Really not running, but I'll be driving to the airport

(02:36):
and then flying to Lawrence, Kansas. Wow, your arms are
gonna be tired. It's gonna be tough. There's gonna be
a lot going on, which means that we need to
get our Friday pick them in. So we'll do that
here in our number one.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Let's do it.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
The Friday Football Frenzy Pick them, Yeah, pick them show
will happen at the end of our number one. Between
now and then, we've got some football in the Natti
to get to. We've got some Reds baseball that will
dive into the rest of the sports world. Last night,
Austin saw after a Reds win. The Los Angeles Dodgers

(03:13):
played home run derby yesterday and trounced the Arizona Diamondbacks,
and it just felt maybe the Domino and Cincinnati sports will.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Start falling our way.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
And then I saw last night Shouto in Monaga was
on the mound for the Cubs, and I thought, Okay,
Cubs get a win, and then we're back to doing
what Austin. What's that word we've been using? Control? Control
the destiny. Yeah, that is what's at stake as the
Reds head to Milwaukee. But they don't control their own destiny.
The New York Mets control their own destiny. That is

(03:49):
troubling because by losing two out of three to the Pirates,
you have taken the power out of your own hands. Boy,
it would have been nice Austin to win on Tuesday.
Expect them to beat Paul Skins, but my goodness, would
it have been nice for this team to have won
that Tuesday game and probably thrown Hunter Green in it, who,

(04:10):
by the way, according to Terry Francona f all goes
well would be available for their season finale, to come
out of the bullpen. Whatever you want to do with
that now what I've heard and what I've seen, Austin,
have you ever seen the movie Semi Pro?

Speaker 5 (04:27):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Okay, Well, in the movie Semi Pro, they the Flint
Tropics cannot win their championship, but they can come in
fourth place. And so Jackie Moon, who's played by Will Ferrell,
sets up the Flint Tropics Mega Bowl Megabowl, and he

(04:48):
essentially just puts on like an NBA championship style game
for the team to finish in fourth place. I've heard
rumblings that that is essentially what the Miami Marlins are
doing this weekend. I've heard and based on early indications
about how many people are scheduled to come out or

(05:09):
expected to come out to the games, that they are
treating this in Miami like a World Series. They're also
doing it with their pitching rotation. I believe Sandy al
Contera will get to start tonight, yes, Yuri Perez after that, huh?
And then Edward Cabrera. Cabrera will start copposite of the Mets,

(05:30):
who at this point in time don't even know who's pitching.
On Saturday and Sunday, Brandon Sprote cut Sprote He's pitching tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
But here we go.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
The season comes down to the last weekend series, and
it would be nice if they'd put themselves in a
little bit better position. But at least they have a shot.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
The Mets. So far this season in ten games against
their division rival Miami Marlins are five and five. They
have in those ten games scored sixty two runs. They

(06:18):
have allowed fifty five.

Speaker 6 (06:20):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Wow, tone back to you. Wow, Come on, Marlins. I'm
not going to get any any Reds Brewer stats. I
don't want to look at those. That's not smart. What
would you do that for? What else do we have?
Monday Night football? Bengals Broncos. We'll discuss that a little

(06:44):
bit more today from the Red side of things. If
you're wondering, okay, well, I know about the Marlins. What
are the Reds doing? Who are they sending out in
the biggest series of the season. That would be Zach
Lttel Andrew Abbott and Singer Austin. Indeed, Zach Lttel will
take them Mount tonight against Quinn Priester. He's thirteen and

(07:09):
two on the year three two five ERA. That makes
me nervous. I don't know much about Quinn, but it
looks like he's had a pretty decent season. He has
pitched against the Reds I believe twice this season. Uh
he went five innings of two hit, one run baseball
in June, and then in August he went five and

(07:33):
a third of six hit, two run baseball. All right,
the Milwaukee Brewers won both of those games.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Oh, so, one would say, Austin that the Reds are
due against the Brewers and potentially due against Quinn as well.
No idea, who's starting the final two for the Brewers.
If you're going into this weekend, Austin, and they come
out of the weekend and they are in the playoffs,
it will be because they win how many games?

Speaker 4 (08:00):
Three?

Speaker 3 (08:00):
Yep, I'm with you. I don't think you can count
on the Mets losing two of three. I think if
you win all three, you're in the playoffs. I think
the Mets win two of three against the Marlins, but
I think it takes all three. Do we know, just
for fun, the last time the Reds swept the series
in Milwaukee.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
You know what, I couldn't tell you. It has to
be like in the eighteen hundreds. It might have been
the Milwaukee Braves that they did against I don't know
the last time that happened. I would assume twenty twelve,
just because that's the best team in the last twenty years.
But I don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Last night Monday or uh Monday Thursday night football ended
up being a pretty good game. Slow, I think for
much of the first half, and just odd the way
it played out. Jackson Smith and Jigba had nothing going
in the first half. He makes the case which of
the game late in the game to set say Seattle
up for a field goal. He finished with seventy nine

(09:05):
yards rushing. I think I walked away last night Austin
more impressed with Sam Darnold than anything else. Guy just
seems like he's in really good control of what the
offense is doing. They got a good dual headed threat
in Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonne at running back. I
liked their receiving Corps Cooper Cup pretty quiet last night.

(09:25):
Kobe Bryant had an interception and then a fumble. Yeah,
the very rare toneover into a turnover.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
And then they reviewed it, and the Seahawks thought that
the review was overturned in their favor. Yeah, so they
ran the celebrated and then the other It's very weird.
I thought, I can't believe the guys in Thursday Night
Football didn't bring this up. But I thought Kobe Bryant
was giving himself up. I thought he was like sliding

(09:53):
down to the ground. He just didn't see his own teammate.
You did see, though, his foot slipped out from underneath them.
So maybe that's why it never got brought up. But
I do think that could have went either way. Got
really good at the end, both those Ohio State receivers
finally decided to show up. Good for Marvin to get out,
That's what I was going to say, Good for him
to catch one. But he also had a rough start
to that game.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
He gave up on a route that led to a
Kyler Murray interception, and then he dropped a wide open
slant that led to a Kyler Murray interception. I Austin
for much of that first half. I don't remember ever
seeing just a look on the face of a receiver
like he had. It just looked like he was shell shocked,
and they kept talking about his lack of confidence.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
It just.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Kirk Kirbstreet talked about turning on the film this week
and wondering is he hurt? He's just not playing fast,
he's second guessing things, And I'm with you. I thought
for him to get that touchdown and to do so
making a really good play on the ball, I thought
that was huge for him going forward college football.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
I think he can call it one of the best
weekends of the year coming up in college football. Right.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
I don't know what else you could ask for out
of what this weekend is gonna bring with so many.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
Matchups, Tony, we have breaking news. Joe Burrow has posted
on Instagram. Oh. Joe Burrow posted three photos of himself,
two of which were in black and white oh, from

(11:25):
his final game Okay this season, with the song Welcome
to Heartbreak featuring Kid Cuddy by Kanye West. Caption this
game will break your heart, Oh man, see you soon.
I hate to hear that, Joe Burrow. This game will

(11:45):
break your heart. Man, see you soon. He's heartbroken, rightfully,
so sad, sad, damn damn.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Let's crab this before we get to our pretty Friday
and then we'll get football in the Natty.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
All right, Mark is gonna set the all right, let's
see what the tone. What's a host.

Speaker 7 (12:06):
I ain't even call them for no flowers today, but
but yesterday I heard some complaining about the lantup. What
do I complain about all the time flowers.

Speaker 6 (12:21):
That would be in today's baseball.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
I appreciate having an opportunity to to see yesterday's baseball
because I've never seen a guy Tyler Seedens said, what
did he go to that four for five or three
for four and he almost hit two home runs?

Speaker 8 (12:42):
He was close to hitting two.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
And then you said the next.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Day, I mean offense, your best offensive piece on a
terrible offense didn't play.

Speaker 6 (12:55):
Yeah, yeah, worst case scenario. He should at least been
d H.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
Yes, I mean I I didn't get that, But like
I said, I ain't looking for no flowers ab about it.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
But you know, hey, that's.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
I'll let y'all do the complaining about what I already
what I've already complained about.

Speaker 8 (13:12):
I'll let y'all.

Speaker 7 (13:14):
But but as far as the Bengals, I wanted to
make this point to Tony Pike and then I'll get off.
You remember that pass that Noah Fant call and and
he fumbled on Sunday, that that route that looked like
the same route when you remember when Eric all towards
me up last year, that looked like the same route,

(13:38):
that same that same play.

Speaker 6 (13:41):
It looked like the same play.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Yeah, if you if you can go back and remember,
that's your point. Yeah, I don't think you could stop
running the route though.

Speaker 7 (13:51):
Okay, now my point is Zach Taylor and his play calling,
his plays look predictable.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
If I can see that that was the same play, Well.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Mark, I think don't you like they run the plays
more than once?

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yeah, I'll say this. I think the run game that
is an issue. I think there are too many plays
that mirror each other, and there are plays that just
don't have anything off of each other. So, for instance,
if you run a tight end motion across the formation
and you run power and you don't show anything else
off that ever, then you're giving away your hand if

(14:28):
you show the tight end leaking out, if you show
a misdirection, that's more for a defense to prepare for.
And I think they do that in the passing game.
I do think that they are way too predictable in
the running game.

Speaker 7 (14:40):
Okay, got it, Well, I'll get off and listen to
the rest of the show. But I, like I said,
I think it's I think it's play calling is become
kind of predictable to the rest of the league, and
you know, I think that's another reason why the offense
kind of struggles, because the defenses kind of know, kind
of know what's coming.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Yeah, that's fair at all. That's fair.

Speaker 6 (15:02):
And listen to the rest of the show.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Mark, thank you, man, have a great I'm about to
play that no offense fumbled on yes, which was like
a twelve yard game. Yeah, like, okay, you can't making
sure in the passing game, you're obviously going to run
a lot of the same routes, just out of different formations. Yeah,
I do think the running game doesn't doesn't mesh at all.
I agree with that. I wasn't talking abot about the
past game. There was also like a ten yard completion.

(15:25):
I don't know their players of the day. I'm good.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Yeah, uh, we'll take our break because we're not fumbling
any play that he tore his a cl on that
was a big play too. Yeah, Yeah, we're not fumbling
this away. Yeah, we're gonna keep it going. Friday football Frendz.
He continues next the ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
Thanks to Skyline Chili as well.

This is Football in the NATI, brought to you by
Hey During Window Company on ESPN fifteen point thirty, the
official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Welcome back, Talk to Friday Football frenzy. Can I just
say something really quick? You just told me to talk.
Go ahead, Let's see how much I can get under
your skin between now and the end of the hour.
I tried the chicken chili from Skyline yesterday. Oh okay,
first time? Yeah, so good. Okay, it's a little bit

(18:04):
more of I think, a little bit more of a
traditional chili taste, a little bit more spicy. Okay, But
that chicken in there sensational.

Speaker 6 (18:13):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
I would get it over and over and over again.
It was that good. So I highly recommend it. I'm
glad to hear that. Yeah. Back to you, TI. You
want to hear some numbers, numbies numbers on this year? Okay,
listen to this about Jamar Chase. He's only caught one
of four targets against Manda man coverage this season. Is
that surprising to you? Can you repeat that to me?

Speaker 3 (18:35):
He has only been targeted four times this year against
Manda man coverage.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
That is fascinating to him. He's only caught one of them. Now.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Pat Sertain has played man coverage in fifty nine percent
of his snaps and has forced a tight window throw
on six of the nine targets. He's seen in man coverage,
So you think that what's going to give? You think
Mark would think it's predictable that the Broncos run may
coverage with patzertan.

Speaker 4 (19:01):
Good points, good question. Do you want to hear some more?
Vance Joseph's play calling is predictable?

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Vance Joseph? How about the Denver Broncos defense blitzed on
forty point eight of opponent dropbacks this year, fourth highest
in the NFL. Again, what gives going into a game
against the Bengals where Jake Browning has been better against
the blitz and the Viking succeeded with base coverage last week,
I would imagine they dial it back.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
A little bit.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Trey Hendrickson has generated fifteen pressures this year, tye for
seventh most in the NFL. He'll be going up against
Garrett Bowles, who has allowed five pressures on one hundred
and six pass blocking snaps. That is the lowest among
left tackles in the NFL. You want to know how

(19:50):
much time he allows the quarterback before pressure three point
six to two seconds, also longest in the NFL. What
are you thin think about those numbers?

Speaker 4 (20:02):
I think it was a segment that I had planned
for the third hours. I just read all those I
was just like, as you're talking, I'm like pulling it up.
I'm like, sounds familiar. Wait a minute, did I not
plan to do this? So now I'm thinking of what
I'm gonna do when you go on, Oh, let's go.

(20:24):
I got one more. I got one more?

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, sure, go ahead. We talked about alignments and formations.
The Bengals have utilized bunch formation twenty one percent of
their offensive plays this year. Out of those bunch formations,
Jamar Chase has caught five passes for fifty two yards,
tied for third most in the NFL. Austin, that's formation. Yeah,
that's alignment. Yeah, that's making things easier on your quarterback.

Speaker 4 (20:48):
Let's do it. Where's Mike Kasiki been this year? That's
a great question. You know, last year against the Broncos,
he had ten catches. Wow, ten catches. If I'm not mistaken.
It was also the last time the Bengals had one
hundred yards rushing in a game. Yeah, yeah, he was fantastic.
I know they've only played a few games since then,
but yeah, it's uh, maybe one of those things autoin

(21:12):
that the old Saints. Something's gotta give, right, something's got
to give in this one. Fun That game last year
was so fun against Denver. It is one of the
most fun games I've ever been to in my life.

Speaker 6 (21:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Now, if you remember the game last year, Chase Brownley
ran for three point three yards per carry, sixty seven
yards on twenty rushes. Burrow had a nineteen yard scamper,
he had a touchdown run. And how about Khalil Herbert.
He had four carries for twenty three yards in the game.
I remember, I remember. Maybe we need him back. Maybe
Khalil Herbert is the missing piece to this rushing attack.

(21:46):
Maybe I'll spend some time on that in the third hour. Now,
you can do that in the third hour. Let's take
a break when we come back. I've been looking forward
to our call of the day, Austin since it happened yesterday.
I don't think it takes a genius to know what
it is. We'll get to that when we return the
Friday Football. Friends of ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 9 (22:03):
You've been listening to football in the NATI on ESPN
fifteen thirty, the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 10 (22:15):
Hey, it's Mullegger. Get ready for Bengals and Broncos on
Monday afternoon with Tony Pike and Me. We'll call it
the Tony and Mo Pregame Show Monday, starting at three
h five on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 11 (22:28):
For ten years, families have trusted Kelsey Chevrolet teen thirty.

Speaker 12 (22:33):
Here is a gun three to zero.

Speaker 10 (22:35):
Pitch swung on and there's a drive eye in the air,
deep bright March day.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
Back at the track, at the wall. He leaps and
he caught it.

Speaker 10 (22:45):
Oh, no way, what a grab Nolvie Marte.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
He robs Bryan Ridnolds of the game tie home run
of the night.

Speaker 12 (22:57):
He was way up there. Wow, that made my heart
skip a beat. I mean, there's no doubt it was gone. Yeah,
that was a home run. He went way over the
wall to get it, almost his shoulder out of socket.
I mean he was reaching way up and back to

(23:21):
bring it back.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
Timing moment. One of the best catches you'll ever see.
That was so awesome, especially the gravity of what was
at stake there and the call.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
Yeah, like you if you're listening to on the radio
the call, you think that ball's gone off the bat, Yeah,
Sorio groove a fastball.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
There, it goes. I was producing the game, and Jeff
Brantley says, once he goes down, I was thinking it
was two to oh. It was two oh or three zero,
and he goes, Brian Reynolds is trying to hit a
home run. Yep, he has nothing else. You cannot let him.
You beat your fastball basically, which was code for don't

(24:05):
throw a fastball to this guy. Because he's looking for one.
He's gonna try to hit it, And of course Pegan
does and Reynolds crushes it, and Noelvie Marte saves him.
And as I'm like rolling on the highlight because at
the very beginning, you hear Tommy say swinging a drive
because you know, everybody thinks it's gone. So I start
like beginning the process of cutting the highlight and I

(24:29):
get goose bumps as I hear Tommy call it in
real time. It was so cool, and I think of
all the people who might have been listening in their
car on their way home. Fardy hear that, Like that's
just so cool, man, It's so cool, and like, you mean,
it's the moment.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
It's the fact that Noelva Marte, who just moved to
right field this year, and there was questions was able
to make the play. Uh, the gravity of the moment.
As you said, I mean we all pretty much feel
if that game goes to extra winings, like the Pirates win,
that they have all the momentum in the world, and
instead not only does it the game, but it keeps
you alive going into this weekend. And I know it's

(25:04):
been pushed a lot now, Austin, but one of my
initial thoughts, and I know you tweeted it as well.
In most situations when a ball is hit like that,
there are fans pushing each other out of the way
to have a chance to catch that ball. I don't
know if I've ever seen a situation we're fans backed
up and gave someone room to try to make a play.

(25:28):
No hands in the way, nothing, everyone backed up. There
were little kids over there like perfect pocket for Marte
to go up and get the ball. It's unbelievable, so
so cool to watch the photos.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
I want you to think back to By the way,
that's our win Schuler's call of the day, obviously brought
to you by our friends at win Schuler's four Fantastic
flavors of cheese spreads. Make sure you stock up on
them at your local grocery and and have it read
for your next get together where it's a baseball football
watch party, your holiday get togethers, make sure Win shoulders

(26:05):
as a part of it.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
We appreciate them.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Flash forward here just for a second, Austin, back to
Smoke Justice on Opening Day and you, me and Moe
we have the conversation and say, hey, would you sign
up right now for the Reds to be one game
out going into the final series of the year. And
I think all of us would say absolutely. Don't matter
how they got there, don't matter how frustrating at times
or how much it felt like it was a long shot.

(26:28):
The Reds are here and they get an opportunity to
go do something special this weekend. I I'm heading out
at the bottom of the hour, which means, Austin, we
need to get our picks in. That's gonna happen next
Friday Football Frenzy. Pick them next on the Home of
the Bengals ESBN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to Skyline.

Speaker 13 (26:51):
Chile, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Oh yeah, you know, what that sound means just a
little earlier today because I'm hitting the road after this, Austin,
I'm out the Friday Football Frenzy.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
We're finishing.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
We're finishing hour one with our pick him segment. Am
I gonna see you at all Monday? Nope, but you
might see me at the end of the show.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
Oh yeah, I was gonna say, you're gonna join me
for quick hits?

Speaker 3 (27:21):
Yes, okay, I'll be here for quick hits, and then
I'm I'm joining Moggar is gonna be in Denver, Right,
I'm gonna be on from three to six thirty with
MO leading up to Bengals pre game. That makes sense,
so apparently, Yeah, that's what's gonna happen. It makes sense
for you guys.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
Yeah, we're just.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Learning that that's gonna happen Monday, and then Tuesday would
then become the Tuesday midday quarterback. I guess is that
what happens? I think so, because Monday night football. Anyway,
we'll get the Monday night football here in just a
few minutes. Let's start the high school cool level this week.
Saint Xavier, coming off a loss to Moler, is going

(27:58):
to host undefeated Elder Purple Friday.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
But they got to go and visit the long Blue line. Yeah,
at Saint Xavier High School. What do you think?

Speaker 5 (28:07):
You know?

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Last week I picked against Elder and I heard about it.
I heard about it that I picked against him and
they went on to win. Well, guess what I'm doing
it again? Wow, in honor of Rocky Boyman and the
good folks at Saint x give me the Bombers? Why
to beat Elder?

Speaker 6 (28:23):
Now?

Speaker 3 (28:23):
What we didn't mention is that, based on last week's results,
I've closed the gap a little bit.

Speaker 11 (28:29):
You have.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
I got you at thirty and thirty one. On the right,
you're thirty two and twenty nine. All right, Every game counts.
Every game counts, which is why, like the Mets and
the Reds, I'm gonna try to get a game up
on you on the first game. I'm gonna take Purple Friday, Elder, Elder,
Elder head coach Doug Ramsey. They go on the road
and get a big win against Saint x Ok. How
about Fairfield and John Kittnas Lakota eat Squad. I I

(28:58):
don't know if I'm gonna pick the Bengals yet. To
be honest, that's gonna be coming a few minutes. So
if I'm not going to pick the Bengals, I'm gonna
at least have to pick a former Bengal quarterback. Give
me Lakota East, give me John Kittna. I was told
by a source Fairfield is good. Oh, like really good.
I should have checked on that side.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
So I'm gonna take Fairfield to go on the road
and get a victory over Lakota East.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
That does not help me. How about this Austin, regardless
of how they've got it done. Deer Park is five
and l what's that mean? That's for a good question
for Willie Cunningham. Oh okay, I don't know what he
has at work over there, but they're five and oh
and they travel to take on the Mustangs and Madeir
right down the street from where we're.

Speaker 4 (29:42):
Out here at Kenwood Studio. Like I think we could,
Like I could throw football and hit this stadium from
where I'm at. I've never done this in the history
of our pick him. I'm taking Deer Park. This is
the first time ever I've taken Deer Park. Wow, well
that makes me want to pick against them since Madeira
is right here. But just you look at the experience

(30:03):
of Deer Park. I'll take Deer Park.

Speaker 13 (30:05):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (30:06):
Let's just skip over quickly. The game that we picked
for last night, we both hit on it.

Speaker 14 (30:10):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Sydney went to Tip City. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Uh do you want to give the score? Ie one?
It was more than just the Tip City. It was
sixty two nothing. Oh boy, that ain't good. Oh boy,
not good. Ernie oh and five Reading Hm travels to Finningtown. Funnytown.
They call it funny Town. These teams have combined for
one year. One win on the season, one win on

(30:33):
this season have been combined by these two teams.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
Guess what.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
Redding gets their first one. They get a big win,
and they get momentum headed in next week when they
head back to Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Give me the Blue Devils. Not gonna be laughing when
Finnytown puts Funny Town on the mat with a big
win over Reading. Give me the Finny people. Oh the Wildcats, Wildcats?
Yeah wow. Let's go to the college football slate. What
a slate we have, Austin. There's a lot of hooks
on this slate too.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
What a gift we are given by the college football gods.
Starting tomorrow. Let's start at Old Miss. Yes, Lane Kiffin, Yeah,
hosting Brian Kelly and his family down from the Bayou.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
PK and his family.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Old Miss favored in this game, right, I still think,
regardless of how good they've been, I think LSU has
the best pro quarterback in the college football world. I
will take LSU to go on the road and win
this one. I don't really believe in Garrett Nessmayer anymore.
I certainly don't believe in Brian Kelly Wow. But I

(31:37):
do believe in Lane Kiffin sliding into the DMS of
Sydney Thomas new documentary coming out daughter dating a linebacker
from LSU. You know what Zach Taylor said last week,
You gotta have poise in the noise. Lane Kiffin does,
and the ReBs take care of business at home against LSU.
Did you see the story of Lane Kiffin at Fresno State?

(32:00):
Not He's going into a senior year at Fresno State.
Incomes freshman David Carr, former number one overall pick Kiffen
was expected to start. Coach comes to Kiffin and says, hey,
I know you wanted to play, but probably not going
to play over this kid. How would you like to
be a ga And David Carr said it was the
craziest thing in the world because he was in the
quarterback meeting and he left the quarterback meeting and they

(32:23):
went to take their team picture and he came out
in a polo.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
That's crazy, he said. They switched in that short amount
of time.

Speaker 3 (32:30):
He went from being a quarterback to a coach on
the team, was a coach for the team pictures when
he was just in the team meeting as a player.
Fifteen minutes before rest is history Oregon, Penn State number six,
number three? Is this the time where Penn State actually
lives up to the height? Is this the time James

(32:50):
Franklin gets over the hump Austin, I see better than
I hear. Give me the better head coach, the better team.
Dan Lanning in the Ducks, get it done.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Poison the noise over there in College Penn Station wherever
they play that joint. I don't know. That place is
a dump give me or Weaver Stadium, isn't it. Who cares?
It's a white out Beaver Stadium for a Nitney Lion.

Speaker 15 (33:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (33:13):
What I will take or out of here for everything
you just mentioned as well, another road test. Alabama seventeenth
in the country. I love Bama at number five Georgia.
I still don't really know what Kirby Smart has. I
know what Alabama has or doesn't have. Give me Georgia
in this game to cover the three and a half
at home. I'm right there with you. I don't even know.

(33:35):
I don't I don't really think this would be close. Yeah,
I think this is a I think this is a
bad line. Yeah, b Yu, I just put this on
there because b why you beat Colorado by like seventy
in a bowl game last year? Now they go to Colorado.
Colorado's a six and a half point underdog. Does coach
Prime have an upset in them with the Buffaloes?

Speaker 16 (33:53):
No?

Speaker 3 (33:54):
You like the men from BYU? I do me as well, Okay,
gimme b why you how about Lindenwood? What do you
know about Lindenwood?

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Not a damn thing.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Well, they travel to Oxford. They take on Miami of Ohio.
Miami's looking for their first win. They've got a lay
twenty and a half. They got outscored Austin seventeen to
nothing in the fourth from UNLV last week to lose
the game and lose the cover by three points. Does
Miami cover twenty and a half? I think so and
they get their first win. I'm right there with you.

(34:23):
This is a comfortable, get right game for the RedHawks.
Might take this line up the forty nine and a half.
I don't know, but I definitely take twenty.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
What about this Eddie George Bowling Green? Yeah? Oh you
the Bobby's right? What do you think here?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
This is a big early season MAC matchup between the
Falcons and the Bobcats, Ohio laying seven and a half.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
What do you think Ohio has better coaches, better players, chemistry.
Bobby's at home where they just beat West Virginia. Bobby's
in a landslide over Bowling Green. As much as I
hate to do that to my good friend Eddie George,
Heisman Trophy winner.

Speaker 3 (34:59):
Give it a bu I'm taking Bowling Green. I watched
Eddie George up close, and I know he's not going
to try to win this game. But if I know
one thing, he'll cover a spread as he did against
the Bearcats. I think Bowling Green goes into OU. I
think OHU wins this game by touchdown. Okay, that would
be a cover because of the hook Austin the University

(35:20):
of Kentucky. Mark Stoop's still the coach down there. That's
all I can tell you about this year's team. South Carolina.
Big early season aspirations in the SEC those have squandered
and quieted a little bit. South Carolina's laying five and
a half at home. I will take the game, Cocks.
I am right there with you. They returned to glory
with Leonoris. I'm not a buyer, I'm a seller.

Speaker 8 (35:42):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Speaking of buying and selling, are you buying what the
Buckeys are cooking? Coming off a bye week? You know
this game heading to Washington, this game opened up. I
believe Ohio State was ten and a half, eleven and
a half something along those lines, and it has slowly
but sure trickle down to a seven, seven and a
half point line all the way down.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
To this point. I like the Buckeyes to cover seven
and a half. It's not gonna be easy first time
going out there at Washington. Beautiful setup, plays gonna be rocking.
They're gonna be a sailgating as they do out there
on the water. But I got the buck eyes. I
would comfortably take this out to fifteen and a half.
I think it's a bloodbath. I think Ohio State coming

(36:24):
off a by yeah, puts up a big number. Give
me buck Eyes take it up to fifteen and a half,
but I'll comfortably take it at seven and a half.
The Bearcats Austin head to Lawrence, Kansas. Now this number
has been all over. I've seen it up to eight,
all the way down to four and a half. Offensive
line yet to allow sack for the Bearcats. Brendan soarsby
sixth in the nation in QBR. But this is a

(36:47):
game that eventually Scott Saderfield has to figure out how
to win if this team is gonna be taken seriously, Yes,
at all, I'm saying that they do it. I'm saying
that they do it tomorrow early start will be back
in Cincinnati with a win by seven thirty tomorrow night.
Get in and out of Kansas with a dub Give
me the Bearcats. Is Corleone playing questionable rock chalk jayhawk

(37:11):
for oh you are sick man. Sick man to the
NFL slate, we go bill self out there to flip
the point, says in Dublin Vikings they got the lact
The Irish Steelers. Yeah, Stellers, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:27):
Now, I think the Steelers are trying to figure it
out defensively. I don't know if I just overreact to
what Minnesota did against the Bengals, that's what it tells
me to do. But the Steelers on the well, both
teams are on the road. Steelers are going to get
two and a half. I'll take the Steelers in this game.

(37:47):
I don't know why, but I guess I will.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
There's a large billboard up in Dublin, Ireland right now,
and it has pictures of the Vikings and the Steelers
on it, and it says, the last time the Vikings
landed in Dublin, they literally conquered the place. Wow, no pressure, lads,
I got the Vikes.

Speaker 8 (38:07):
All right.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
This is a home game for them, all right.

Speaker 3 (38:09):
Let's stick in the AFC North Cleveland coming off a
very impressive win against Green Bay, arguably the best defense
playing right now in the National Football League. They take
on the Lions, coming off their most impressive win. That
offense is clicking against a very good defense. What gives
in this one? With nine and a half Austin, I.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Think Dan Campbell exposes Jim Schwartz and in the Browns,
goy Lions, Tigers embarrison the Browns defense, and all of
a sudden, we start talking about the Detroit Lions again
as a team that can beat the Philadelphia Eagles and
get to the Super Bowl. A comfortable ten plus point

(38:49):
win for Detroit at home over Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
If there was any semblance of offensive rhythm for Cleveland.
Because their defense is so good, they can keep this close.
But I was impressed with the Troy did against the
Baltimore de offense as well. At times I think that
defense plays well. They're gaining confidence with a new defensive coordinator.

Speaker 4 (39:07):
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
I'll lay nine and a half. I think it's somewhere
ten fourteen point victory for the Lions. How about the
Eagles and the Buccaneers. Now, Bucks are a little bit
shorthanded because of injuries Austin, but the Eagles a couple
chinks in the armor last week against the Rams. This
should be a great game. I'd love Baker Mayfield. I
just don't think I can take him three and a
half because they're not going to be at their full

(39:28):
complimental weapons.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
I know this game feels like too easy to pick
the Eagles because of the injuries, but the Eagles have
struggled in Tampa. They have struggled against Baker Mayfield. I'm
going to take the home team, wow to keep it close.
They may not win, but I think this is a
one to three point deficit. The game is decided by
that amount. I'll take the home team, Tampa.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Colts undefeated, Rams coming off a devastating loss. Rams were
one of my sneaky Super Bowl picks out of the NFC.
Colts have been an absolute surprise. And while I do
think that there is something there with the Colts, I
do think that what they're doing is sustainable. I think
this is a game where the Rams flex a little bit.

(40:11):
I'll take the Rams at home to cover.

Speaker 4 (40:13):
I'm right there with you. I think this is I
think the Rams are better than the Colts. I think
they had a disappointing game. Sean McVeigh gets them back
right at home. There might be a lot of Colts
fans there, but that's all right.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
This to me feels like a game I've seen so
many times against Kansas City where it just doesn't feel
like Kansas City has anything going, no rhythm, no rhyme
or reason, and here come the Baltimore Ravens. All the
preseason accolades, but yet a one and two start for
both of these teams. And it's hard to read because

(40:49):
we've just not done it a lot. Austin Chiefs home
dogs plus two and a half of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
What say you? I wanted to pick the Chiefs in
this game, but the Chiefs of now are not the
Chiefs of then. They are not who we came up
with over these last five or six years. They're just
not the same same teams. So for that reason, I'm
gonna take the Ravens, who I just think top to
bottom are a better team. I think this could be

(41:16):
a shootout, though I think Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
could find something offensively, just because of how bad Baltimore's
secondary is. But I got Baltimore winning this game with
their backup against the wall.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Everything wants me to take the Chiefs, but I think
there's so much more pressure in this game on the Ravens.
I just I don't see how the Ravens don't go
in and get a win with how they've played up
to this point this season. I'll take Baltimore. I hate
doing it because I'm just not sure about it. Betting

(41:53):
real money, I wouldn't touch this game, but for our
Pickhams sake, I'll take the Ravens. I threw this on
because it was just the biggest spread. It's an now
landish number. It's fifteen and a half. Saints go to
Buffalo in Orchard Park? Did the Bills cover fifteen and
a half? I normally stay away from numbers, this time
this pig in the NFL. In the NFL, it just
doesn't happen very often. That being said, I thought the

(42:15):
Saints were going to be a lot better than they are. Like,
I didn't expect them to be good. I expected them
to be more competitive than what they've been.

Speaker 6 (42:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (42:23):
Uh, and going into Buffalo is a tall task. I'm
gonna say Buffalo does cover fifteen and a half in
a spread like this. It's easy to look at it,
but I think a thirty four to seventeen times.

Speaker 3 (42:35):
I don't see the Saints stopping them, and I don't
see Spencer Rattler moving the ball in Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
Now, I did see Matt Mulano at Al Oliver out again.
Does it do anything for you?

Speaker 7 (42:43):
Nope?

Speaker 4 (42:44):
Okay, Bengals Broncos. Dodd dud dump doudud dud dum.

Speaker 6 (42:50):
I don't have it.

Speaker 4 (42:51):
I don't have it ready. I don't know where it went.
Don dot dot du. You know what this game is, right?

Speaker 3 (42:58):
It's our wind Shoulders Cheesy spread of the Weekend, brought
to you by our friends at win Shulers. Their delicious
cheese spreads are perfect for any tailgate or get together
that you may be hosting.

Speaker 5 (43:10):
There.

Speaker 3 (43:10):
It is four unbelievable flavors for you to pick from.
I suggest picking up at least one of each for
your next get together. Make sure that your party has
win Schulers. What do you say in this game, Austin?
I believe in the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (43:29):
I believe.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
I believe in the Bengals.

Speaker 6 (43:31):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
I don't know if they can win this game. Wow.
But I don't think they're gonna get embarrassed two weeks
in a row.

Speaker 8 (43:37):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (43:38):
And I think that this is a close game between
two underachieving teams. I think the Bengals can win it.
I don't know if they will, but I don't think
they'll get blown up, blown out by more than seven
and a half again. And they got them orange Bridges
on what do we have to go on.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
We have to go on what we've seen this year.
This team cannot run the ball right now to save
their life. This team defensively still has questions. This Denver
defense sacked Joe Burrows seven times last year. They hit
him another fifteen. I think Denver feels so much pressure
going into this game that they have to perform because

(44:18):
of their slow start. I think it's wrong place, wrong
time for the Cincinnati Bengals. I have to take the
Broncos to cover the number, and I rarely do that. Wow,
but I have to do it here.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
You never do that. You're right, You're ay. That tells
you what I feel right now. You're bad.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
We I think it's the Ryder Cup that put me
in this mood already today. But We're going to take
a break here Austin, and I'm gonna head out. See
you man, I'm going I'm going to the airport in Lawns, Kansas.
As back to Kansas, Kansas. We should be familiar, same hotel,
same spot, hopefully a different result. Austin has Charlie Goldsmith

is Austin Elmore, and much like Jake Browning coming in

relieve Nicolodolo, it is I taking over the show for
the final two hours as Tony's travels with the Bearcats

(46:20):
out to Kansas ahead of their game tomorrow. So tone
back at two forty five on Monday as he's got
pregame sports talk with Mo ahead of Monday Night Football.
It'll be me solo today for the rest of the
show and Monday. But things don't change. One o'clock on Friday,

(46:40):
Friday Football Frenzy, we talk to our guy, Charlie Goldsmith. Charlie,
Happy Friday man. How are you.

Speaker 11 (46:48):
I'm doing great?

Speaker 6 (46:49):
How about you, Austin?

Speaker 4 (46:50):
I'm wonderful. Take me back to yesterday, high drive, right field,
Noel vi Marte under it, he jumps up, makes the catch,
essentially saves the game, potentially the season. As someone who's
around this team every day, what was going through your
mind in that moment.

Speaker 11 (47:09):
Yeah, that's the best part of doing this job. It's
being and having the context of being around every day.
Like I remember so vividly one day, David Bell trying
to fix Noelabe Martes's throwing motion by hitting him ground balls,
kind of a desperation move to try to save Noelvie
at third. It didn't work. It carried over into twenty

(47:30):
twenty five. I remember the day at City Field, and
you know, right after the ultro break in July, when
you know, I watched batting practice every day because one
day something like this waited, that noelbe Marte working out
in the outfield, and then Spencer Stear kind of gave
me the excuse me, I thought, Jaed Westernal kind of
gave me the scoop that he was taking this pretty seriously.

(47:50):
And then you think back to that big throw he had.
I forget who it was against, but that first big
put out at the plate that he had in right
field and with that moment meant and you know, but
on the flip side and Dodger Stadium him playing center field,
and the kind of frustration with that moment. So you're
there for all the highs and lows, but it all
leads to something. You get to this point of the year,

(48:13):
This is when the stories kind of crystallize and all
those memories, experiences, and conversations just flood right back.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
To my head when I see a moment like that
with Marte specifically, as you mentioned, it's one of the
biggest storylines of the season, and I think most fans
ask where would they be without him? Why has that
transition to outfield worked for him.

Speaker 11 (48:36):
Well, think about this, like if every day, at you know,
one thirty, in the middle of talkback, someone said, all right, Austin,
you're doing a bad job today, get out of here,
or at one thirty every day they were like, you
know what, we don't even want to have to remove
you anymore at one thirty, so we're just not even
either going to start you or just prepare for that
heading into the day. Like that's what noelbe Marquet was

(48:58):
going through. It was a pretty relatable human thing. The embarrassment,
the demralization of being pulled for defense as often as
he was, or being you know, the one who commits
the air and a routine play that you just remember constantly.
You know, those were the mistakes we would talk about,
and there's something very human in that. Something you're just
not good at translating on a very bright stage and

(49:22):
all of a sudden, that's what the entire spotlight's on,
and it impacted Olody Martine's ability to do his job.
And moving to right field. You know, I don't have
to worry about any of that anymore. I've got completely
off of my plate. I get to play whole games.
Now you know, I'm not getting benched for Santiag Westnal
Like there's something powerful and human about that. That was
the key to all this with Marte, and I think

(49:43):
it's something any of us can relate to.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
Over the course of this last home stand, there were
a lot of ups, a lot of downs, a lot
of intense moments for this team as they try to
get to the playoffs. From what you've seen being around them,
how is this young team with some vetter and mixed
in handling the emotions of this final stretch run.

Speaker 11 (50:06):
At no point has it felt like a party, which
is interesting to me, which is much different than some
of their dramatic, unbelievable moments in twenty twenty three. Those
took place earlier in September, when that team kind of
kind of made its run. Like even yesterday, it was
very workmanlike, very professional. Postgame, it was just guys sitting

(50:27):
around chatting. Sure the music was playing and sure, you know,
before the reporters got in, they did their normal routine celebration,
you know, process that they always do, just like normal.
But then they packed up and headed to Milwaukee, and
you like that head on the shoulders of this year's
team that I think is reflectant kind of the way

(50:47):
they battle, the way they bounce back, in the way
they've approached.

Speaker 6 (50:50):
This stretch run.

Speaker 4 (50:51):
Ellie de la Cruz specifically has played really well in
the sweep of the Cubs and then as well against Pittsburgh.
His defense has ticked up a little bit. Why does
it seem like in the biggest moments Ellie de la
Cruz elevates his game.

Speaker 11 (51:07):
Well, the big story to me with Ellie is the
swing change that he made in Saint Louis. So assistant
hitting coach Alex Palaiaz kind of a really good under
the radar guy in the organization. Obviously on the big
league staff. He was with the hitters in Saint Louis.
You know, the offense was kind of stuffling a bit
coming off that Fokland series and into Saint Louis. That
first game, he was looking for a spark and they're

(51:29):
playing videos of home runs of different guys, and then
they show a couple of videos of Ellie hitting home runs,
and instead of cheering, Ellie got really quiet, and then
he went into the cage and then he brought back
the leg kick that we all know, we all can
identify and recognize that he took away heading into twenty
twenty five as a way to cut down a strikeout.

Speaker 7 (51:50):
That was the big thing.

Speaker 11 (51:51):
Ellie switched from a leg kick to a toe tap.
That will lead to fewer strikeouts, and it has Eliez
the old Cruise's strikeout rate has significantly declined and he's
I forget, you know, kind of on base percentage would translate,
but I feel like he's getting on base more. That's
been more of the style of here or he's been.
But then when you add in kind of some of
the power that got zapped from his legs with the

(52:11):
squad injury that he dealt with, they're just wodn't enough
on that side of the spectrum for him to be
doing enough damage for the style of hitter he wanted
to be. So seeing that leg kick again sets something off.
And when I did the story the other day, he
had like a one thousand ops so where first seven
games back from the leg kick. And Christa Lake has
said this too, there's something just human for a guy

(52:34):
who's struggling. It all comes back to these human stories,
which is really cool just about baseball and about sports
of man, you're struggling, You know what, Let's just fall
back on the thing I did when I was having
a lot of fun. That makes me feel excited and
aggressive and confident. And you can look at any number
you want, but sometimes that's the most powerful thing you
can do. And that's what Ellie Cruise has done right now.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
So how do you balance that? Like, Okay, here's something
I want to do compared to what the coaches might
want him to do. And now if we all know
that the leg kick is back, the opponents know that
the leg kick is back, And how do you kind
of balance out how you're going to now be attacked
differently and try to still stay away from the strikeouts.

(53:17):
What can he take from the toe tap and apply
to the leg kick? And you get where I'm coming
from here? How do you balance that?

Speaker 11 (53:23):
Now, this is the real stuff, Like we have all
these conversations here on the show, like these are the
conversations that the coaches are having and the like these
are the in the room where it happens conversations. This
is the sweet spot right here. And I talked specifically
about Chris ll Lake about this in the off season.
They're going to sit down with Ellie and they're going
to say, Ellie, what kind of hit or do you

(53:44):
want to be Your goal entering the season was the
cutdown on strikeouts? The power went away?

Speaker 6 (53:49):
Do you want to go?

Speaker 11 (53:50):
And this is the direct quote, do you want go
chase thirty homers next year? Great? How can we support
you with that? Do you want to make an even
bigger emphasis getting on base and keeping the strikeout right low?

Speaker 17 (54:00):
Great?

Speaker 11 (54:00):
How do you support How do we support you with that?
Is there a middle ground where it's you know this
or that or adjusting based off situation? Blake, you said, great,
how can we support you with that? For hitting and pitching,
a part of their philosophy is while there is an
organizational identity, and boy have we talked about that this season,
the player does drive this ship. It's funny, like, here's

(54:23):
a Zach Taylor like line that I think applies. Like
that says, if the quarterback believes the play is gonna work, better,
the player has a better chance of working. And if
the quarterback doesn't believe the play is gonna work, when
it doesn't, he turns to the sideline and goes, see,
that's why we shouldn't run the play, and that's why
the Bengals let their quarterbacks rank plays before every game.
The same thing obviously is true in any sports. So

(54:45):
while there is an organizational philosophy on a somewhere between
micro and macro level, these macro decisions who do I
want to be are driven by the player and it
has always been that way. Now what players they have
and who they prioritize, and how the roster gets put together,
that's where you see the organizational stuff get shaped as well.

(55:06):
But again, this is the room where it happens type
conversations are the really deep stuff.

Speaker 4 (55:12):
Well that's a good point that I think is also
a good stepping off point. Have we made too much
of this quote unquote philosophy that the home run is
not as important to the organization.

Speaker 11 (55:26):
If there's a middle ground for that as well, they
they want it. What's the best way to say this?
They think that players are going to develop into better
power hitters, and that Skier could hit thirty homers at
one point and that McClain could hit twenty five and
keep going through the roster like that, and they'll build

(55:48):
it that way as opposed to saying, all right, we're
going to get someone who's already hit thirty homers or
you know, the Cees type slugger, but has some risk
in their profile that might even prevent them being a
good enuugh hitter to justify a spot in your lineup,
like they prioritize and draft and develop and target specific
archetypes of players on the whole in games, I think

(56:13):
you see the situational stuff translate in terms of stressing
the messaging the most. Hey man, move the runner to
second here at all costs. But bigger picture, yeah, they
they want these guys to hit for more power without
sacrificing some other stuff. But it's just that these hitters
haven't quite gotten there yet. Maybe maybe I could have

(56:34):
you know, maybe that wasn't a perfect explanation there, right,
But it's all a big skill of player development.

Speaker 4 (56:40):
Well also, you know, over the course of the last
week or so, it does feel like the power has
increased a little bit. And you talking in the previous
answer about them about it being player driven. At times,
do you feel like maybe that's been a player The
mentality of the guys in the clubhouse is to Okay,
let's hit some home runs here, Let's try to do
that more or do you think it's just the nature

(57:01):
of how those games win.

Speaker 11 (57:04):
I don't. I think it's just baseball. I think it's
Stevenson got hot, It's Ear got hot. For a while,
it was Benton briefly with south Stewart. I think it
was more circumstantial there.

Speaker 4 (57:15):
The foundation. One of the foundational pieces of sports talk radio,
Charlie is second guessing the manager. What do you think
of the way Terry Francona has handled the last five
or six games.

Speaker 6 (57:29):
I have found.

Speaker 11 (57:30):
Myself agreeing with more of his decisions since the Saint
Louis series.

Speaker 18 (57:36):
Than I did previously.

Speaker 11 (57:40):
And he's talked about this like I thought there was
a stubbornness and these aren't his words, but he used
the word stubbornness just in terms of you got to
keep the line of the same, you got to keep
the approach the same, you got to keep the way
you structure and manage games the same, because you don't
want to create a sense of panic by making those
types of changes. But he's balancing that with the urgency

(58:01):
of what these games are, and you're seeing him use
his bench now more analytically. You're seeing them having strategically
aggressive plans to use like Chase Burns and Nick Martinez.
I think it's been much more notable and much better now.
There was was like there was the game in Oakland
or in Sacramento on Saturday. I'm forgetting the specific circumstances,

(58:24):
but I remember there mistakes there. I understood where he
was going with Wednesday's game by keeping McClain in because
he had in the ninth, because he had hit that
nice line drive earlier. He had hit well off that
reliever in the past. But then by the time the
Clane came back around an extra in injure bench was
already spent, so he kind of missed your shot. But

(58:46):
when you look at it in that sequence, it made
more sense. He's more aggressive pulling the starters from the
game now. I like a lot more playoffs Tito than
regular season Tito, which I thought was very You know what,
Let's put he in Jabo in on opening day because
he throws a strike, and let Santiago wespl hit second
because he puts the ball in play. Like I think

(59:06):
the style now is more more winning baseball.

Speaker 4 (59:10):
And because it's that time of year, how do you
ex excuse me? How do you expect him to handle
Matt McClain these three games in Milwaukee.

Speaker 11 (59:20):
It's a billion dollar question. And so like I've planted
my flag, like this is just going to be a
player evaluation hill that I die on, Like i just
believe in Matt McLain and I'm going to keep believing
in Matt McLain for the rest of the season. I
kind of can't even explain it. It's just I think
he's a winning player who can help the team as
much as kind of anyone in that sticks through nine
tier on this team. Like I'll take that McLean over

(59:42):
a Brian Hayes right now for example. But then today
you look at today and what have we learned?

Speaker 5 (59:48):
It's all about winning today.

Speaker 11 (59:49):
McLean do for four against Priester and Andrew Harr has
been great against Priester and Tito. We hear all the
time talk about using those matchup stats to shape lineup decisions.
So is this a day where because also had a
nice day yesterday, you put Lucks at second an new
heart DH and give mcclaim the day off until the
middle of the game where you'd ideally put him in
for defense because it's a matchup thing. You know what

(01:00:12):
I get behind that, Like I see that, I understand that.
And then we'll see who's pitching from Milwaukee tomorrow, and
then we'll see who's pitching from Milwaukee on Sunday, and
we'll see how it looks in LA today. You could
also consider the fact too, that lets tell who's pitching
is a fly ball pitcher, not a ground ball pitcher.
So the issue with the Reds one is their logjam
at DH and two it's that like one through nine

(01:00:35):
or maybe one through twelve, it's a lot of guys
in the same bucket right now that you could shake
him up and you know, spit out a lot of
combination and there wouldn't be you know, a lot of
orders would make a lot of sense just because there's
not guys in true pigeonholed roles because they haven't emerged
in those. McClain's defense is potential for pop and just

(01:00:55):
the way he plays the game is something I still
believe in. But let's see day by day.

Speaker 4 (01:00:59):
With the what the games gives you exact quote just
now from Charlie Goldsmith, We'll see what it looks like
in LA. Is that a prediction that the Reds are
going to make the playoffs.

Speaker 11 (01:01:12):
So I mean, this is just me behind the scenes here,
I like, just for life reasons, just have to operate
under the assumption like I packed I packed seven shirts. Yeah, like,
because you can covering the team, you can adjust when
they don't make the playoffs. This is the true story.
When Will Benson hit that ball up the middle for
an RBI against the Cubs on Saturday, the first thought

(01:01:32):
that ran through my head was, oh my god, I'm
completely unprepared if this team makes the playoffs. But story
ideas this With that, I've also too been looking kind
of strategically at how some stuff could line up for
LA just because I wouldn't have time on Monday on
my flight out west to do that, and I wouldn't
want to land in LA without having already done that.
So I guess this is the advanced scouting department over

(01:01:55):
at Charlie Shockboard brain working.

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
So are you Are you in Milwaukee right now? I am, oh, okay,
all right, wonderful. I know you're in baseball mode. Let
me just ask you quickly about the Bengals. I know
you were there a little bit this week as well.
Does it feel like they've flushed it the game against Minnesota.
How do you what was the vibe that you got
from the Bengals this week?

Speaker 11 (01:02:18):
The ViBe's fine. But the thing I just keep going
back to is, man, are think starting.

Speaker 6 (01:02:24):
Jalen Rivers right?

Speaker 11 (01:02:26):
And the plan and the rotating cycle at the offensive line,
And not that any players said this, but the doubt
that that puts in your head, how much that feels
twenty twenty ish for the Bengals, even more than twenty
twenty one ish for the Bengals, Like, just like in
twenty twenty, how they brought Hachem identagy off Ir to
be there starting growd immediately.

Speaker 6 (01:02:47):
And it's you know, here we go.

Speaker 11 (01:02:50):
There are those types of situations going on that makes
it hard to get really excited about turning the page
and changing the direction. My hotest take of all time
is that I thought the defense played pretty well in Minnesota.
I understand how bold that sounds, but I believe that's
what the tape showed me. So I think there's some
stuff going on too. But just what game script do

(01:03:11):
they have in Denver? Because boy, this whole conservative Big
ten West style football thing isn't working for him so
do they let Jake try to cook or is that
too risky because the Bengals can't pass protect. So you're
kind of stuck until you have more answers about this team.

Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
Last question, what specifically about the defense did you like
and how do you feel like they can apply it
to Denver.

Speaker 11 (01:03:34):
It was really, really, really an impressive week from Al
Goldon on coming off the Jaguars game. He sat down
in the media room for you know, meeting with us,
and he goes, third downs, that's on me.

Speaker 18 (01:03:47):
I have to be better.

Speaker 11 (01:03:47):
I have to create free rushers. I have to win
downs out to put the team in situations where play
designs make a huge impact. And there were like five
situations in Minnesota in that first half where the way
that he designed stuff to attack the Vikings running back
and pass protection. There was even one player that was
diabolical where it was Night attacking him and then right

(01:04:10):
behind him there was Geno Stone kind of attacking Night,
and then of course Stone worked off that and got
free right away, and Wentz just had to get rid
of the ball immediately. So the third down ideas, and
even more than that, Al's ability to say we need
to fix this and then fix it in a week.
That was good and that has my attention.

Speaker 4 (01:04:32):
His name is Charlie Goldsmith, covering the Reds, covering the Bengals,
Charlie's Chalkboard, Fox nineteen power Stacks. He's doing the rewatch
with the Growler podcast Network, the guys everywhere. Charlie, are
you gonna get cheese kurds before or after the game
tonight or during?

Speaker 11 (01:04:50):
It depends some nights they started. She's kurds in the
media dining, so I'll see what the game.

Speaker 16 (01:04:54):
Gives me and then adjust.

Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
I feel like Milwaukee's gonna be one of the better
media dinings in baseball? Is that true?

Speaker 11 (01:05:01):
You know, Austin, I'm not gonna lie to you. Oh no,
that's not the case. It's fine. It's workable, but it's
not the case.

Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
It's better than Atlanta though.

Speaker 8 (01:05:10):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (01:05:11):
Charlie, have fun. We appreciate it. Talk to you next week.

Speaker 6 (01:05:14):
Man. Thanks.

Speaker 4 (01:05:16):

been my favorite conversation I've ever had with Charlie. There's

guys for all you've said and done. And Tony and Austin, Hey,

(01:07:29):
you guys are the best man. Jeff, thank you, man.
I appreciate that. Thank you very much.

Speaker 8 (01:07:33):
Addie tone was good talkback Mike here.

Speaker 20 (01:07:37):
Mike GI, My entire weekend is dependent on the Reds,
and as a supportive and loyal fan, I am doing
all I can do to help the boys prevail this weekend.
So I got some gold blood, I got some salt
on chalk and about thirty candles, and I learned this
little rich you off of Reddick, So I can almost

(01:07:58):
guarantee you rayleg nation we are going to the playoffs.
I just don't know it what personal cost he's gonna do.

Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
That's that's kind of scary. Mike Austin.

Speaker 21 (01:08:07):
I heard you say that you saw Amarius Mimes that
the Reds game the other day.

Speaker 5 (01:08:11):
I did.

Speaker 21 (01:08:11):
That was your chance, man. You could have gone up
to him, looked him right in the eye and called
him soft. You didn't do it, missed opportunity. Yeah, you
left some meat on the bone there. Speaking of soft,
I heard Zach Taylor talk to the media yesterday. Man,
he sounds depressed and subdued. He sounds like I used
to back towards the end of my first marriage. I

(01:08:33):
saw the writing on the wall talk about leaving meat
on the bill.

Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
You really liked that meat on the bone comment, didn't you?

Speaker 11 (01:08:40):
Scott flown here Banks of Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
Holy girl. We got Austin Almore.

Speaker 22 (01:08:46):
Tony Pike here, the Roger going into a Big three
game set with the Milwaukee Brewer. Is our only way
is to perform a blood sacrifice on Gladys.

Speaker 4 (01:08:57):
Thank you. Scott also got out to my guy, Scott.
I normally am on with him on Fridays. My man
had to get his whole ankle replaced, basically, and he's
been out for the count. But Scott, I hope you're
doing well, brother. Happy Friday, Wales.

Speaker 8 (01:09:13):
The Internet is people of Sincy three sixties.

Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
See as I gaze out over this vast vista, this
plaza del soul that we lovingly call Cincinnati.

Speaker 23 (01:09:23):
I'm reminded of the immortal words spoken by a mortal star.
See the ball, hit the ball, See it's bats and bullpens,
reds the little hoss.

Speaker 4 (01:09:32):
Yes, let's go have hold.

Speaker 23 (01:09:35):
Oh I'm sorry, I got carried away there.

Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Wow, incredible range there and a nod to ken Brew's
former hits with Bill Cunningham.

Speaker 24 (01:09:46):
Tony awesome Jack Everett College.

Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
What up Jack.

Speaker 24 (01:09:48):
I don't know if getting a quarterback would be much
hope with how bad our offensive line is, but I
take frowning goes out and has another multi interception game.
I'm all in on a trade for Jamis if it's cheap,
just because Javis would be pretty fun. If we lose
like we did last week. Zach needs to go at
some point this year. But also I'm all in on
Joe Brady head coach, was with Joe and Jamaar down

(01:10:11):
at LSU. Great offensive mastermind. Would love him calling plays
in Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (01:10:16):
I think you would be pretty high on the list
if Zach were to be let go. Random thoughts on
last night's game. You know, to quote the comedian ron
tedor side of White.

Speaker 25 (01:10:24):
I'm between six foot two and six foot six, depending
on what commenience store I'm leaving. But I look at
Kyler Murray and I think there's no lead to do.
It's five foot ten, aj Barnard. Do you think his
middle name might be Barne? And a lot of people
had some opinions on the Cardinal's new uniforms. Some thought
that looked like a tortilla. I thought, with all of
the brown spiders are it looked like a toilet the

(01:10:45):
public restaurant, Mike.

Speaker 26 (01:10:49):
Hey guys, jeff and you Richmond. Happy Friday to you,
are you, Jeffery? I do believe the Reds will win
two out of three in Milwaukee. I think the Bets
will lose. There's two out of three in Miami this weekend,
and I think we're going to trying to stay positive here.

(01:11:10):
That's why I'm not giving a bear Cats prediction. You
guys have a great weekend.

Speaker 8 (01:11:14):
Take care. What's going on? Boys, Craig and the Creek?

Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Hey, Greg, just calling to give Mark some weeds? Uh okay,
thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:11:27):
I think.

Speaker 27 (01:11:29):
Hey fellas, it's Adam and look what are we doing
here talking about browning.

Speaker 8 (01:11:35):
I'll give you a statistic.

Speaker 27 (01:11:37):
I'm browning two games, five interceptions. That's the only stat
you need.

Speaker 4 (01:11:43):
If I'm If I'm the Bengals.

Speaker 27 (01:11:45):
I'm on the horn yesterday trying to work out something
for Russell Wilson.

Speaker 8 (01:11:51):
Jake Browning isn't who you thought he was. He is
who he is, a backup that stinks.

Speaker 4 (01:11:59):
Not ready to say about Jake Browning. I understand the turnovers.
One of those was a tip pass. I think there
was a little bit of trying to do too much.
He also led a game winning drive. And I still
point to the Bengals offensive line as being the single
biggest issue with this team. And that affects everything. It
affects the run game, it affects the quarterbacks timing, it

(01:12:19):
affects his eyes, it affects what plays you can call.
I don't think even if you put Russell Wilson in there,
who is washed in my opinion, even if you put
Russell Wilson in there and he might be better than
Jake Browning, I don't think it makes that big of
a difference because of how bad that group is.

Speaker 28 (01:12:39):
Dan Klaskins here Fantasy Insider, I wanted to dole out
some fantasy advice.

Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
For this weekend. This sound like Dan at quarterback.

Speaker 28 (01:12:45):
You'll want to start bo Nicks at running back. JK
Dobbins at wide receiver, Courtland Sutton at tight end. I
don't even know Denver's tight end, but it doesn't matter.
Start start that guy. You also want to start Denvers defense.
Quick shout out to Noelve Morte saving the season with
his jump man. Look, thank you, hey, Austin Ken for

(01:13:09):
the next year.

Speaker 29 (01:13:10):
When Riddles hit that ball and it's flying hoard right field,
I had that sick feeling in my.

Speaker 4 (01:13:15):
Gut and to talk O F word and man.

Speaker 29 (01:13:19):
When Marte caught that, it was such a relief because
I knew, like you guys said, they weren't going to win.
No chance for these guys have really put us, put
us through it this year. It's been fun and it's
been scary, but go rid Amen Ken. I think most
people felt that way.

Speaker 14 (01:13:40):
I'll tell you the Bengals and the Reds might drive
a person crazy, but I love the Cincinnati sportscasters, including
you two guys. A phenomenal Dan Hord. He is sneaky, dangerous.
I see Joe Daniman doing the news the other night. Yeah,
I mean water Cronkite has nothing on him.

Speaker 6 (01:14:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 14 (01:14:03):
The sun will lead us, that's our reason.

Speaker 4 (01:14:07):
Amen to that. Yeah, Joey d Joey conkright, he's a beast.

Speaker 30 (01:14:11):
Hey fellas Tony, Hey Austin, Hello, my prediction would be
uh Denver thirty one Bengals nine.

Speaker 4 (01:14:22):
Oh that's not good. Oo da all right, thank you?

Speaker 6 (01:14:28):
All right?

Speaker 11 (01:14:28):
What on ice?

Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
Yes, I'm feeling very optimistic for this weekend.

Speaker 11 (01:14:35):
Me citin, I read we're gonna go to Milwaukee and
break the curse.

Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
They are going to sweep the Milwaukee Brewers and win.

Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
Their way into the playoffs.

Speaker 11 (01:14:45):
The university sits prayer cats. We're gonna go two changes
and walk up onto jayoffs and of course Kick Browning
is gonna lead.

Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
Let's just say Bengals two, A three one startment.

Speaker 6 (01:14:57):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
So the iceman predicting a perfect weekend.

Speaker 27 (01:15:03):
Hey Austin, it's at him again. And you know, Charlie
Goldsmith said something that really hit home for me talking
about why the move to the outfield worked for Noel
vi Marte when he was stinking on the infield. Can
you think of another player who stinks in the infield
that might be good in center field and.

Speaker 8 (01:15:24):
Has a rocket arm?

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Yet we're a post to this, well, I do think
you know the main thing that Charlie was talking about there,
referred to people breathing down his neck, and you know,
Santiago Espinal coming into games and stuff like that. Ellie
has never had that. Ellie's never had that threat at shortstop.

(01:15:47):
I also should note that his range, his OAA has
improved dramatically over the last month or so, so he
has balanced out some of that poor defensive play. I'm
still in the camp that they should explore moving him
to centerfield or to right field or whatever it might be.

(01:16:07):
And I hear what you're saying there for sure. I
do wonder though, if the Reds felt like, Okay, Ellie
had a bad stretch, but he's fixed something. I don't know.
I still don't think they'll consider it. I think they should,
but I do think that they're similar but different.

Speaker 23 (01:16:24):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Reagan, and well, kudos
to Marte on his impression of Glenn Bragg's last night.
Oh and it's refreshing to know that there are no
Bartmans in the seats at Great American Ballpark.

Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
Oh, yes, that's true Bartman's. I didn't know what you
were saying.

Speaker 31 (01:16:43):
Love, Like when the Reds and the Pirates were an
extra innings there and the bases were loaded and Marte
swings on a three to one count.

Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
I was screaming at my TV, like you just blew
the season.

Speaker 6 (01:16:57):
You blew it.

Speaker 31 (01:16:58):
And then the very next day as a game saving
home run catch over the wall, I'm like, dude, you
just saved our season. Baseball is so much fun, man.

Speaker 4 (01:17:07):
Yeah, I love it. That's baseball right there. All right,
thank you?

Speaker 7 (01:17:19):
Ten all yeah, boyait Austin, Austin, Austin, Austin.

Speaker 11 (01:17:26):
So what Tony's last He's going out to the big
game out in Kansas.

Speaker 4 (01:17:31):
What's the charter company they fly?

Speaker 11 (01:17:33):
What are they?

Speaker 23 (01:17:34):
Allegiant?

Speaker 11 (01:17:36):
Is there anything worse than Allegiant? I mean, that's that's
that's not even about flying as if you were cargo.
And believe me, I know I'd been in the industry,
and what I mean by the industry is the business back.

Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
You know, I've taken a few Allegiant flights in the past,
and I didn't I didn't feel bad about it. I
didn't feel unsafe.

Speaker 8 (01:17:59):
I didn't have any.

Speaker 4 (01:17:59):
Issues with Allegiance. Whatever. Uh, that's the end of talkbacks
for today. We'll take a break. We'll come back football
in the NATTI is next ESPN fifteen thirty. You could
thank you found your dream home online, but he joined
Dave Lapham and me this afternoon at three for Bengals
pep rally on the official home of the Bengals, Cincinnati's
ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 9 (01:18:21):
This is Football in the NATI, brought to you in
part by Blood Light and by Oakley Greens on ESPN
fifteen thirty, the official home of the Cincinnati Bengal List.

Speaker 4 (01:18:33):
Indeed, it is welcome back in Football in the NATI
on Austin Elmore quick segment here back to your phone
calls in the next segment, Tommy g on FC Cincinnati.
After that, you heard Tony earlier give some of the
advanced data on the Bengals and the Broncos. Let me
give you a couple more specifically about the difference between
Al Golden and lou An Arumo from last year to

(01:18:54):
this year. How about this. Through their first three games,
the Bengals have played single high safety shells on sixty
three point six percent of their dropbacks. That's the sixth
highest rate in the National Football League. Last year, they
had the ninth lowest rate, only forty nine percent Under
lou Anarumo, and so far this season, the Bengals have

(01:19:15):
allowed a fifty nine percent completion percentage while playing those shells.
That's the ninth lowest completion percentage in the NFL. Additionally,
in Golden's first season as the DC, the Bengals have
blitzed at the lowest rate in the National Football League,
only rushing more than four on nine percent of dropbacks

(01:19:36):
almost ten percent. This is less than half of their
blitz rate through Week three last season. Last season with Anarrumo,
the Bengals were blitzing twenty percent of the time, which
was already the league's seventh lowest. The Bengals have maintained
an effective pass rush though, when not blitzing, with a
thirty two point one percent pressure rate, which is fourteenth

(01:19:59):
highest in the NFL, and at fourteen point seven percent
quick pressure rate, which is the eighth highest in the NFL.
So kind of to Charlie's point about Al Golden kind
of being diabolical with the ways moving stuff around, especially
on third downs, They're finding ways to get pressure without blitzing,
and when they have those single high shelves, quarterbacks are

(01:20:20):
completing well below the league average completion percentage. That's a
good thing and a good trend to keep an eye
on with the Bengals defense as they head to Denver
on Monday night. All right, your phone calls next, ESPN
fifteen thirty.

Speaker 9 (01:20:33):

Welcome back in since he three sixty Friday Football Frenzy
on Austin Elmore. Got a few minutes for your phone calls.
Let's go to the line five point three seven four nine,
fifteen thirty. We'll have more time an hour three after
Tommy g Let's go to our guy Mike in La. Mike,
what's up?

Speaker 32 (01:21:20):
Hey, thanks, Austin, appreciate it.

Speaker 16 (01:21:22):
Yeah, I got several football things I want to bring
up to you, and then one Red's coming.

Speaker 5 (01:21:28):
Do you think that it just struck me the other
day and.

Speaker 16 (01:21:32):
I was listening to Patrick earlier, I don't know what's
several days, and they were talking about Antonio Brown and
I had forgotten about Antonio Brown, and then I thought, man,
that guy was special, especially after he caught the ball.
And doesn't he remind you a ton of DeMar Chase.

Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
Yeah, that's a good comparison. I think in stature you
wouldn't always think that they have that ability, but they
are so strong, especially lower body strength. Both of those guys.
I've never seen a player like Jamar be able to
get more yards after contact like he does. He's so
good at that. Antonio Brown was like that too. Antonio
was probably a little bit more shifty than Jamar, but

(01:22:12):
still incredible lower body strength.

Speaker 16 (01:22:16):
The main difference is Antonio is a nut and Jamar isn't.

Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
Let's hope. Let's hope Jamar never goes crazy the way
Ab did after his first few years.

Speaker 16 (01:22:26):
Oh my god, that was sad, wasn't it?

Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
It is? This guy was the limit for that guy,
he was going to.

Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
Be a Hall of Famer.

Speaker 6 (01:22:35):
Yeah, who do you like?

Speaker 32 (01:22:36):
Tampa and the Eagles, And just keeping in mind that
I thought Wharf would Christian Warf would be back by now,
but him and the other starting tackle are still out.
Do you think give Tampa a shot or not.

Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
Yeah, I'm gonna give him a shot just because they're
at home and they for whatever reason, they've played really
good against Philly and Philly I think showed some flaws
last week. So I picked Tampa to cover the spread
at three and a half. I don't it is gonna
be tough for them to win just because of all
the injuries. But I'm a big believer in Tampa, So
you know what, I'm gonna pick them. I think it's

(01:23:07):
gonna be close, and Baker may makefield.

Speaker 33 (01:23:11):
He was.

Speaker 5 (01:23:12):
He was written off as for dead when he was
in Cleveland one bro.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
Yeah he was. And they really revived his career in
LA on that Thursday night game where he had that
game winning drive.

Speaker 16 (01:23:22):
Yeah, you're right, boy, and he went on to do
a lot of good things.

Speaker 32 (01:23:25):
And does keenan Allen?

Speaker 16 (01:23:27):
Is he ever gonna just like retire?

Speaker 32 (01:23:29):
He I Every time I think he's done, he comes
back and still plays well.

Speaker 6 (01:23:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
And I think part of it is they have a
run game that's respectable, and Quinton Johnston has taken a
step forward on the other side. He really seems to
be like this might be his breakout season. And so
when there's a legitimate threat on the other side, that
helps Keenan Allen and on top of that Lad McConkey underneath.
It just creates more places for you to have to

(01:23:56):
defend as a defense, and that creates chances for Keenan
Allen and Justin Herbert is not afraid to.

Speaker 33 (01:24:01):
Throw it to him, and Quentin Johnson. He was on
that TCU team that went to the finals several years ago, right, yeah, yeah,
he was, Yeah, but he was kind of a bust.

Speaker 32 (01:24:12):
You're right the first few years he did or he
wasn't a bus but he just didn't They didn't incorporate
anything very much.

Speaker 16 (01:24:16):
But they had what was that coach's name for.

Speaker 4 (01:24:20):
Saley, Brandon Staley with the Chargers. Yet, oh he was.

Speaker 6 (01:24:26):
He was a joke.

Speaker 16 (01:24:27):
Ran him out of town.

Speaker 4 (01:24:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (01:24:29):
My main question, do you think that the emphasis on
tackling has been diminished by the emphasis on punching the
ball out.

Speaker 4 (01:24:40):
That's a good question, Mike. I think in some places
it has. I think there were times last year with
the Bengals where that it felt like that was all
they cared about. Specifically, Jermaine Pratt was just trying to
force a turnover. I don't know that I would say
it's diminished, but I would say it's it's almost just

(01:25:01):
as much as tackling is. And I also wonder if
part of the unintended consequences of not as many padded
practices and full contact practices has been that.

Speaker 33 (01:25:13):
Okay, okay, because punching the ball out seems to be
the I'm glad you clarified that because I just.

Speaker 16 (01:25:20):
Thought maybe the other tackling basics were suffering because of
the emphasis on punching.

Speaker 8 (01:25:25):
The ball out.

Speaker 6 (01:25:25):
So thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 32 (01:25:27):
And one last thing about the Reds. You almost got
a hope that Milwaukee's like, you know, we're in we
got the best record.

Speaker 16 (01:25:35):
If we win, we win.

Speaker 6 (01:25:37):
If we lose, we lose.

Speaker 16 (01:25:38):
I almost hope that that's their attitude, don't you.

Speaker 4 (01:25:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:25:41):
I do.

Speaker 4 (01:25:42):
I don't want them to have the attitude of let's
eliminate the Reds, that's for sure, Mike. Thank you for
the phone call. Have a great weekend. Because the Pirates
have that attitude. Pirates are trying to end the red
season and Milwaukee, I would expect is trying to do
the same, much like the Marlins are trying to do
to the Mets. Let's go to Boston talk to John.
What's up John, Hey, Austin, how are you. I'm wonderful man.

(01:26:03):
What's on your mind?

Speaker 8 (01:26:04):
Well, a lot of things.

Speaker 34 (01:26:06):
First of all, all those numbers you were giving out
before the break pretty much John Nash's Russell Crow's character
in A Beautiful.

Speaker 8 (01:26:13):
Mind, Adam, you were winning movies. He sounded like him.

Speaker 34 (01:26:17):
And when Tony was giving out all those numbers. The
one takeaway, a simple takeaway, would be the Broncos offensive
line is a lot better than the Bengals thought.

Speaker 8 (01:26:24):
That slip line.

Speaker 34 (01:26:26):
But based on how long each quarterback has been throws, sure,
those are obviously alarming. I just wanted to touch on
Joe Burrow's Instagram post and again, facetiously, I'm saying this
in Boston, We're not positive, We're always negative. But I'm
going to take some positivity out of that. When he
says see you soon, maybe maybe he's getting to a

(01:26:47):
better place. Obviously he is heartbroken. He should be third
time in six years, and he's had the devastating injury.
But the Pirups see you soon, maybe there's some glimmer
hope there and we know how hard he's going to
work to try to get back as soon as possible.

Speaker 4 (01:27:01):
Yeah, I mean, I think that could be part of it.
I mean, Joe is very careful and calculated the things
that he posts and when he posts them, so hopefully
it means that, you know, those first few days after
surgery and recovery have gone well, and maybe he has
a little bit more confidence.

Speaker 34 (01:27:20):
Yeah, they probably won't know much for a couple of
weeks when they take a bandage as often as an
MRI and you see what the progress is, and you
just hope that you know, as his dad has said,
he's a quick healer. So if that's the case, then
maybe the timetable works in their favor to get him
back out there. But I I can't even imagine what
goes through his mind when he does everything right, works hard,

(01:27:40):
is so invested in the position, and then these types
of injuries happen, and sometimes the narrative nationally is you
know his injury prone. Well, the injuries he suffered are
car crash injuries. They're not like not running out of
bounds pulling a hamstring because you're out of shape. I mean,
needs are like catastrophic injuries, and let's just hope they're
over with because there's a lot of quarter back to
that long career. After having a lot of injuries early

(01:28:02):
in the career, Phil Fims missed several years, Drew Brees
was almost out a football long career, you know. So
hopefully Joe gets these out of the way and has
that long, prosperous career that I think we all.

Speaker 6 (01:28:13):
Know he will have.

Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
Yeah, I'm right there with you, John, I'm up against
the clock. Thank you for the phone call, and I
hope that's the case. I hope Joe doesn't get discouraged.
I hope that, you know, and I expect that you
do have a little bit of that at least early on.
And I hope that eventually it turns towards motivation and
a desire to get back out there and kind of
started all over again. Improved that he's still that guy,

(01:28:36):
because I'm sure he listens and hears all that stuff,
and he's talked openly about his football mortality. We'll take
a break, we'll come back. We talked to Tommy g
the voice of FC Cincinnati on ESPN fifteen.

(01:29:46):
from football to football and talk to our guy, the

where are you at and what are you doing?

Speaker 8 (01:29:57):
I'm in my office in Cincinnati, airing for a season
Canadian Orlando City. But listen when I travel I'm still
on the.

Speaker 6 (01:30:04):
Air with you.

Speaker 8 (01:30:05):
Am I not right?

Speaker 4 (01:30:06):
Yeah? No, you are, You're right.

Speaker 8 (01:30:07):
Yeah, Like I talked to you from Los Angeles. I've
talked to you from the runway. I talked to you
from Portland.

Speaker 4 (01:30:14):
Yeah, I'm not mistaken. You talked to us from the
World Cup in Qatar.

Speaker 8 (01:30:23):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, another story for another day. But
I'm great.

Speaker 6 (01:30:28):
I'm here.

Speaker 8 (01:30:29):
I'm ready to go for the weekend. And uh no,
it's a it's a beautiful Friday, and the weather's shaping
up for the weekend after you know, our first rainy
week and I felt like months as our meteorologist friends
that tell us, you know, quite a bit a dry
spell there. But no, everything's good and I'm here. I'm
here in the Queen City.

Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
Man, I gotta work, that's right, somebody's got to do it.
Let's go back to last week, going up against the
worst team in the n MLS on the standing sheet,
LA Galaxy. I think some people expected them to just,
you know, get rolled over by f C Cincinnati. It
wasn't exactly that, but still in good performance. How would

(01:31:09):
you describe what was the feeling after that win against
the Galaxy?

Speaker 8 (01:31:13):
I think good and Listen, you're never gonna take winning
for granted, especially in Rajdi soccer. I think Galaxy still
has good players, right, I think they have a good
coach and and their team that not but ten months ago,
nine months ago, one, nine a half months ago one
MLS Cup, right, so they have guys who know how

(01:31:34):
to win. They have professionals. You know, this is not
a talentless group. And Ccinnati came out and it looked
like it was going to be a route right at
at to nil and Galaxy get one back and they're
kind of hanging around. They then they have a player
sent off, you know, which I thought was a really

(01:31:54):
careless second foul for you know, the yellow card to
be to be sent off there, and it gives s
C Cinceni this great advantage. But that hasn't all been
a big advantage, you know for the Orange Blue. We
sat against Phildelphia and didn't get a goal there and
they did end up getting a goal, and okay, now
it's comfortaballing. The Galaxy put one back to make it
three to two, had a little bit tighter, but listen,

(01:32:16):
goals were scored again, which was great. The team won
on the road continued their dominance not only of the
Western Conference, but another ten win road season, which is massive,
you know, the only club ever to go back to
that season with ten road wins. So they've been very
good on the road. Took care of business, got the
three points they needed to keep themselves in a lot
of different conversations as far as seating and supporter shield

(01:32:39):
and everything else. First place in the East still within reach.
So they took care of business, and I think in
the end that's the most important piece of the puzzle here.

Speaker 4 (01:32:47):
In Cincinnati has already clinched a playoff spot. You still
have a month basically until the playoffs begin. Now is
the focus primarily on let's catch Philadelphia, Let's win the
supporters shield. How do you balance you know, getting ready
for the playoffs also still chasing the seating on all
that comes with the regular season MLS as you go

(01:33:08):
towards the end here, how do you balance that?

Speaker 35 (01:33:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:33:10):
I think it's you know, a little bit tricky in
some ways, but I think you have to do it
with a very smart mind in remembering that the playoffs
lie ahead and that you know you're going to be
in a good place. Obviously, you want to be in
the best position home to the advantage and all that.
But you know, I thought that Pat Noonan's fresh conference

(01:33:31):
was telling today because of the media reports had come
out during the week. Roman sell Tano back end training
with the goalkeeping group, and so I was curious. You know,
I was sitting there watching the press conference today with
Pat and was curious as to what he would say
about his status and if we'll see Roman in this
mess because the conversations I had had were this match
would be about a week earlier in what they were

(01:33:51):
hoping for with Roman, right, but obviously he had progressed
well in Pat total sad going into the LAA Galaxy
game that he was doing well and the little bit
ahead of schedule. So okay, maybe Roman's back for Orlando.
And then he was cautious in the way he discussed
that he didn't rule him out. He ruled mat Mausgaut
he did not rule Roman out for this match, but
he said, listen, we're not going to rush him back

(01:34:13):
for this game and then maybe lose him for a
couple more regular sea the last two regular season games
and then potentially longer right not have him for the playoffs.
So I think that that's a very smart way to
look at it. Obviously, you know, Evan's done well and
stepping in for him, and I think they have the
confidence in Evans to do well while Roman is out.

(01:34:34):
But if Roman misses one more game and then he's
one hundred percent, as say, opposed to coming back in
ninety percent and maybe retweets that injury and then has
to miss a couple more, you know, it's a different story.
So I think it's you know, a cautious approach to it.
All the news sided really promising that it'll be ob
being to Wolbedo would be at least partially back in
with the full group next week. If not, you know,

(01:34:55):
by the end of that week, you know full go
with the with the regular group and not on the side,
and that's usually a good indication of you know, a
player maybe working his way back into where he can
have a vent roll or you know, factor back into
the twenty man roster and then the starting eleven. Obviously
it will be just starter when he's back to one
hundred percent, and if I think the targets for them
would be to have him back to one hundred percent

(01:35:16):
by that first playoff game. If that's the case, great,
you know you get maybe he's available in the in
the game or two, just to get his legs back
a bit and get fit. But uh, no, I think
it's absolutely right. You're still within, you know, reaching distance
of that supporter shield. You'll know more after this weekend
based on other results. And you're still within, you know, obviously,
of that one seed in the Eastern Conference. So there's

(01:35:38):
a lot still to be had there, And I was
talking to somebody about it this week even that two seed, right,
Miami has a couple of games at hand. They're on
an incis tracks all of a sudden, but that two
seed becomes really important as it sits right now. If
the playoffs began, you know, Cincinnati would host Miami assuming
they both won in the first round. But if you

(01:36:00):
fall up three street all of a sudden, now you
have to make the trip orned to Blue do. I'm
good on the road this year, but obviously you want
to be a TQOS stadium and have your home fans
there and you know, be able to sleep in your
own bed and so on and so forth. So no,
I think there's a lot of positioning to figure out
and you know, since FI Cincinnati join Major League Soccer,
this is your number seven. You know, this is the
most heated I think both Eastern Conference and Supporter shild

(01:36:23):
race that I can remember.

Speaker 4 (01:36:24):
Yeah, I mean even from from Orlando, the opponent coming
up this weekend, up to Philadelphia, it's only seven points.
The difference between those two those there's really those six spots.
So let's focus on that for a second. With the
Supporters Shield chart, the path here for Cincinnati, do they
basically have to win out? Is that going to be
the expectation if they want to get the Supporter Shield

(01:36:46):
Based on what Philly and Miami have coming.

Speaker 8 (01:36:48):
Up, I don't think they'll be able to slip up
at all and then still win it. Your two points
behind Philadelphia and San Diego is a point behind you,
You're even on games with those teams. So that's the
easy part, right, Philadelphia would have to slip up there
and drop points and that Cincinnati would have to win out,
and uh f c Cincinnati in that scenario would then

(01:37:08):
have more wins. That's the first tie breaker. So so
they if they were even on points, depending on how
you know, Philadelphia slipped up, then they would be ahead
of them, they obviously control their destiny against San Diego.
But what's interesting is behind them. You know, Vancouver's down
fifty six points, two points behind f C Cincinnati, but
they have four games left, so they, in theory, could

(01:37:29):
also win out and jump f C Cincinnati. As far
as the supporter Shood is concerned, Miami is the really
interesting one because of all the schedule congestion they had
this year. They had Club World Cup, they had Leaf Cup.
You know, they've shifted a lot of games around. They
still have five games left, so they have two games
in hand on Cincinnati and early four point three points back.

(01:37:53):
So you can do the math there and see, you know, Miami,
Miami's only team that controls them destiny. They went out
and they're gonna win. The supporters you because those those
two extra games could give them six extra points and
they jump Philadelphia there. So that's what I'm talking about
this race. I mean, even you go, you want to
go Philadelphia down to Minnesota, who's in six at fifty
four points, you know, I don't think Minnesota. You know,

(01:38:15):
they'd have to win out and Philly have to drop
two and even then minutes, so Philly would have the
time breaker, so they you know, they maybe Minnesota's out
of the conversation in that regards, but that Miami, Vancouver,
San Diego, Cincinnati Philadelphia race is certainly intriguing and decision
day I think will be there'll be a lot of

(01:38:36):
eyes on on games and people with the multi visue
going and different screens to keep track of it all.

Speaker 6 (01:38:42):
You know.

Speaker 8 (01:38:43):
The hard part is they start all the Eastern Conference
games at the same time. So I'll pull up, you know,
I'll say the Philadelphia game is relevant at that point.
I'll pull it up on my laptop, but I'm trying
to watch the game in front of me, not on
a monitor, you know, any people passing me notes or
something that you can get distracting.

Speaker 6 (01:38:57):
But it is.

Speaker 8 (01:38:58):
It's gonna be really exciting these three match days, and obviously,
you know, people gonna be in Cinnati to be rooting
hard against Miami and Vancouver as they make up those
midweek games, trying to get closer to the end of
the season.

Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
Let's talk about the match in front of US Orlando
coming to TQL Stadium this weekend. We just talked about
how they're just as much in the conversation as anybody else.
What's the scouting report on Orlando ahead of this weekend.

Speaker 8 (01:39:23):
Yeah, this is a team that's good and the team
that's created a headaches fors C Cincinnati. You know, fourteen
wins on the season. They're sitting there, what it's sixth
place right now in the Eastern Conference, so you know,
they're very much a playoff team. Haven't clinched yet. But
Oscar Pere always has a team that seem mainly creates
headaches for our C Cincinnati. They have a couple of

(01:39:44):
guys who are just having you know, remarkable seasons. Martino
had has thirty goal contributions, sixteen goals, fourteen assists. You know,
he should be very much in that MVP conversation with Evander,
you know. And they have veterans. I mean, they have
a guy like Peter Lesa who's been in goal for
them for a long time and done a fantastic job.
They have newcomers who've you know, come on to this

(01:40:06):
team and certainly have provided you know, a good influence.
The Luis Muriel, the new nine, you know, thirty four
year old has been very productive. Marco Pashlich had eleven goals,
on the season. So you have two guys in double
disgs with goals, another one with nine. Who's right there
knocking on that door. It's a team in the season.

(01:40:28):
Times had to be really strong defensively against Orlando for
whatever reason. Last two times they've come into t Qustadium,
they've won. You know, kind of sometimes in games when
you felt like he should have had the result. So
now these games, obviously the importance is there, and it's
obvious we just talked about that, but you know, there's
always a little bit of an edge when f Ccincinnaty

(01:40:50):
plays Orlando City and both these teams need three points in.

Speaker 4 (01:40:54):
A really big way. I see here, Tommy that it
is noce Latina Eric Hispanic Heritage Night at t QL
Stadium this weekend. We've often talked about your feet heat.
Do you have something planned for Hispanic Heritage Night? I mean,
would you wear a sombrero on the broadcast? I think
that's a good idea.

Speaker 8 (01:41:15):
For booth video board hit. Yeah, you know, Star Wars
Night made a fourth about what.

Speaker 4 (01:41:20):
About what about you know, when when we score, you
throw on a sombrero, you and cav.

Speaker 8 (01:41:26):
Oh or or just a long goal call like the
speaking broadcasters often do. It's funny because the Spanish Happit
TV guys are in the booths right next to us,
so a big goal like you probably can't hear them
in our air, but I can, like I get like
field reverberating through the wall on a on a massive

(01:41:48):
goalazo and maybe they'd be a little extra juice, but no,
I think it. I mean, what a it's gonna be
a great night Sunday. I remember if people are tuning
in the kind of scratching their head. This matter originally
was scheduled for a Saturday, and Magic Soccer had that
Sunday Night soccer slot that is their premier match of
the week, so same Sunday Football NFL or Monday Night football,

(01:42:08):
and they can flex games in at the end of
the season, so they didn't do. I think this was
the first week, so it's only the last three weeks
that you could flex a game in, so you know,
i'd say by June or so July we started to
hear that maybe this won't be considered and here we are,
you know, with it got moved over into that slot.

(01:42:29):
So they saw that this was gonna be a big
match and it certainly is with two playoff bound teams,
Orlando's going to get in. Like I said, they're not,
They're not clinched yet, but you have two teams that
will be in the playoffs, and shoot, it could be
a playoff preview of what could be the first round
depending on how the standy shakeout, you know what will
start about a month from now.

Speaker 4 (01:42:49):
Speaking of two playoff teams, the Cleveland Guardians and the
Cincinnati Reds, it kind of feels like they're on a
crash course for the Battle of Ohio in the World Series.

Speaker 8 (01:42:59):
Thought, man, that would be amazing. Nine seventy one word series.
I mean, we've been begging for this our whole lives.
You know, I would, I would love it. There'd be
nothing nothing greater for me?

Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
Much fun has this been for you as a Guards fan?

Speaker 8 (01:43:12):
Over crazy? What is it seventeen of twenty right? I
mean he I was joking rout Chad and one of
our friends was at that the two games they won
against the Tigers this week, and I mean you realize,
like I don't know how close they were to trading
Stephen Kuan, but like that was a conversation, right if
someone had thrown the world at them, they probably make

(01:43:33):
the deal. Nobody just offered up enough, and that obviously
changes the trajectory of the season. But you know, you
love all the just as the same as you see
when a team comes back in the game. The ninety
nine percent chance I was to make the playoffs, win
the division, and the Tigers were ninety nine point nine
percent to win the division, you know, on September first
or whatever it is, and and the Guardians and from

(01:43:53):
crashing back. So yeah, it's been it's been a lot
of fun. It's already felt like the playoffs a little
bit of my house watching those games. And yeah, man,
I hope the Reds and the Guardians are there and
they both have long runs and you know, and I'm
and I'm trying to figure out how to make it
to some World Series games in between starting to playoffs.
That'll be that'll be game one and it'll be like, say,

(01:44:15):
his first playoff game or something.

Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
That'd be my luck if I'm not mistaken your son
as a Yankees fan, right, Yeah, is that gonna be? Yeah,
are you guys going to be you know, squaring off
in the playoffs is going to get contentious in.

Speaker 8 (01:44:27):
The house awesome. I mean this happened last year, remember right, Yeah,
and Yank you just took it at five and the
LCS and my wife is a Yankees fan, so it's
very much as put household when that happen. It was
it was last fall. And you know, not everybody's perfect.
I lost I lost that one.

Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
Fatherhood, parenting, it's hard. You can't win them all.

Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
Yeah, exactly right. Yeah, you make some mistakes along the way.
You learn from the mistakes. And look, look the young
and smart kid, right and and he's a Guardians fan,
so and you know they both both root for Rufer
Reds when when they're not playing their teams. So, uh no,
it would be I really hope the Reds are in.
I hope the Guardians are in. And uh man, I
hope it's a long, long playoff for both of them,

(01:45:08):
because it'd be off the fun.

Speaker 4 (01:45:09):
Yeah, I'm right there with you, Tommy. Thank you for
your time, man, have a great weekend. Yeah, and have
a great call.

Speaker 6 (01:45:14):
Yeah. I can't wait.

Speaker 8 (01:45:15):
And I'll show it you again next Friday.

Speaker 4 (01:45:16):
All right, looking forward to it, Tommy g the voice
of the Orange and Blue. Good stuff. Right there, We'll
continue with this Friday Football Frenzy Phone lines now wide open,
wide open, five one three, seven, four nine, fifteen thirty.
We can talk baseball, we can talk football, we can
talk anything you want to talk about. Maybe, just maybe

(01:45:39):
the Reds can finally exercise the demons that are American
Family Field and the Milwaukee Brewers. What's your prediction for
this weekend for the Reds, for the Mets, for the Diamondbacks.
What do you think is gonna happen? Five one, three, seven,
four nine, fifteen thirty. Also the final poll results from
yesterday's pole question that I put up on Twitter. We'll

(01:46:01):
talk about that as well. This is Friday Football Frenzy
right here on since e three sixty on the home
of the Bengals Cincinnatis, ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 13 (01:46:11):
Is back on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 4 (01:46:19):
Welcome back Friday Football Frenzy, ESPN fifteen thirty. I'm Austin
Elmore coming up in just a little bit. I'll update
you on what's going on at the Ryder Cup. We'll
also look ahead briefly to this weekend and so much more. Obviously,
Monday Monday Night Football Bengals Broncos Phone lines open five, one, three, seven, four, nine,

(01:46:40):
fifteen thirty. You can also tweet it me at audielmore
Au t y E LMRI. I said, let's go to
the phones. So let's go to the phones. Let's talk
to Rob in Cincinnati. Rob, what's going on? What's on
your mind?

Speaker 16 (01:46:55):
Hey?

Speaker 6 (01:46:56):
Uh, this is kind of a different call. I actually
would like to send you a.

Speaker 35 (01:47:02):
Letter, but I have a plan with vendors willing to
come to Cincinnati to provide technology that they believe can
accelerate Joe Burrow's recovery time by a minimum of thirty
percent up four.

Speaker 6 (01:47:16):
To six weeks.

Speaker 4 (01:47:17):
Okay, so what is the foundational basis of this science?

Speaker 35 (01:47:22):
So this science is the company is in South Carolina.
These are all US made low light lasers. The medical
term is called photo biomodulation, and the challenge the challenge
is in Cincinnati. Eight or nine out of ten mds
or nps have never heard that term because they're not

(01:47:43):
taught it.

Speaker 6 (01:47:44):
In medical school. This stuff absolutely works. I've visited the factory.

Speaker 4 (01:47:49):
How does it work? Explain how it works?

Speaker 35 (01:47:53):
So it emits more photons of energy in a cohesive
life and all you do so in Joe's case, he
would just point this at his toe and he would
do it probably twenty minute sessions a couple times a day.
And they have three different wavelengths. There's a red light,

(01:48:17):
there's a violet light, and there's a green light. And
when you stack those three together, they simultaneously do even
better than just one light alone and accelerate the healing
time for wounds.

Speaker 4 (01:48:30):
When was this technology created and why is it not
more mainstream?

Speaker 35 (01:48:37):
Well, that's the interesting thing, because it's not embraced or
ensured by the medical community. And that's the opportunity for me.
I come at this from sixteen years of dealing with
my daughter in the mental health system, which is an
absolute train wreck. I use I bought a laser, and

(01:48:58):
I'll come over to your studio right now and see
it if you want. I'm serious. But so I bought
a laser to help my daughter with schizophrenia. Okay, she's
been on medication for sixteen years. The pills have never worked.
The laser. That the same technology that would get Joe

(01:49:18):
back in the game Quicker. She went from totally crazy
with six fifteen minute sessions one a day for six
days in a row, to super organized.

Speaker 6 (01:49:29):
I mean it's amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:49:31):
What is the risk of this treatment?

Speaker 5 (01:49:33):
No?

Speaker 6 (01:49:33):
Zero zero, there's no sign.

Speaker 4 (01:49:35):
How is that? How is that possible?

Speaker 35 (01:49:38):
Because people don't know about it. I'm telling you, if
I could get your email or I can actually send
you a link and then that link would take you
to a PDF and it would explain that. But I
have to upload the PD you know, I can send
that over pretty quick. But this is the real deal,
I mean.

Speaker 8 (01:49:57):
The national sales.

Speaker 35 (01:49:58):
These guys sell the things all over the world.

Speaker 5 (01:50:01):
They've been in business.

Speaker 8 (01:50:02):
They started in ninety six.

Speaker 4 (01:50:05):
How different is it from like red light therapy, which
I know is very popular or is it red light therapy?

Speaker 35 (01:50:13):
No, it's way better than red light therapy because red
light is just led lights. This is actually cohesive light
and there's more energy and more photons that go in
and and create a chemical process that upregulates your ATP
and makes you heal faster.

Speaker 8 (01:50:32):
Have you unbelievable?

Speaker 4 (01:50:33):
More company? And these people have they reached out to
the National Football League.

Speaker 6 (01:50:38):
I'm not aware of that.

Speaker 4 (01:50:39):
I'm just you know, okay, but.

Speaker 8 (01:50:43):
This works.

Speaker 6 (01:50:44):
And then the and then the other one.

Speaker 8 (01:50:45):
Now, the other one is called the light MD.

Speaker 6 (01:50:50):
Mark two Sports Pro.

Speaker 35 (01:50:53):
That one uses led lights and then it also delivers frequencies,
and so does the laser, but between the light and
the frequencies, it dramatically increases.

Speaker 6 (01:51:05):
Your ability to heal.

Speaker 8 (01:51:07):
Quicker.

Speaker 35 (01:51:08):
And I have I have a chiropractic doctor from California
willing to come on and talk to you. He his
whole business is amateur athletes and professional athletes, and he'll
tell you some stories. I don't want to say it,
but there's a very famous athlete that used the green
laser that and if I named the name, you would

(01:51:30):
recognize them and got him back in the game a
lot quicker. And some of these athletes don't want to
tell you what they do because it's a competitive advantage.

Speaker 4 (01:51:38):
All right, Well, Rob, this is fascinating. I've taken your
phone number down. I may or may not reach out
to you, but I do appreciate an entirely different perspective
on all of this. Thank you very much.

Speaker 35 (01:51:49):
Well, can I send you a one page cover sheet about.

Speaker 6 (01:51:52):
What this thing?

Speaker 4 (01:51:54):
Yeah, you can just send Austin Elmore at iHeartMedia dot com.

Speaker 8 (01:51:58):
And it's a U.

Speaker 6 (01:51:59):
S T I E. L. M Ori.

Speaker 4 (01:52:01):
You got it at iHeartRadio dot com, iHeartMedia dot com.

Speaker 6 (01:52:06):
Oh oh, okay, I heart media. All right, thanks as.

Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
Rob, thank you. Okay, that's interesting. I'm all for looking
for new things, trying new things. Uh, you know, searching
for solutions. Shouldn't we all be searching for solutions. Let's
take a blind phone call because that's fun. Isn't it
a color? If you can hear my voice, you're on
the air. What is your name?

Speaker 6 (01:52:30):
Miami is Mike?

Speaker 8 (01:52:31):
I'm an independence Mike.

Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
What's going on? What do you want to talk about?

Speaker 35 (01:52:34):
Well?

Speaker 18 (01:52:35):
I was up the Red game on Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (01:52:37):
It was an electric atmosphere.

Speaker 18 (01:52:39):
I was one of the twenty one folks who walked
from Fairfield from going up fields down to the stadium
that day. So I'm still recovering. I can walk a
little bit better todayan i could yesterday. But yes, it
was a great time, great experience to get down there,
and then the game was absolutely electric. We should have
pulled that one out, but yeah, good time. And then

(01:53:00):
you know, yestually get a little bit more hope back
towards us getting back in the playoffs. Hopefully the next
three days.

Speaker 8 (01:53:06):
We can get that.

Speaker 6 (01:53:06):
That take't care of.

Speaker 36 (01:53:08):
But it's a great time when you're there and it's
that electric on the Reds games so much. I mean,
it's great for the city h to be out there
in that kind of an atmosphere. I don't know if
you were there Wednesday or not, but yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:53:19):
I didn't make it Wednesday, but I watching watching it
on TV. I remember thinking to myself, this is this
feels so much like a playoff game. And the crowd
pop from that Tyler Stevenson home run. I mean, obviously
they didn't finish it off, but like the crowd had
just been waiting for something to explode and they finally
got to do it. That was really cool.

Speaker 8 (01:53:41):
Yeah, and the three dollar beers doesn't hurt either, that's right.

Speaker 4 (01:53:44):
Yeah, it's a good way to get people moved up.

Speaker 36 (01:53:47):
Yeah, so I just want to call it and those
haven't been out to the fields and watch the jow
Nuts All Miracle League. They have games Saturday, so the
Arkansas stands there, get out there, take a look.

Speaker 8 (01:53:57):
It's a great time and great call.

Speaker 4 (01:54:00):
So yeah, all, yeah, thank you. I appreciate it. Yeah,
I mean, I know Lance does a lot of work
with the Joe Nuxsall Miracle League fields. We've had ty Bradshaw,
a good friend of the show in studio to talk
about it as well and all the great things that
they do. And yeah, they did a I believe a
twenty one mile walk from the Joe Nuxall Miracle League
Fields two Great American Ballpark delivered the game ball, raise

(01:54:22):
some money, raise some awareness for all the stuff that
the Miracle League Fields do, which is just so cool.
And if you haven't been down for like I unfortunately
haven't been there yet, but I've seen the videos and
heard the stories that when they play their games there
on the weekend, it's just really cool and it really
warms your heart. So definitely, if you're looking for something
to do this weekend, be a good thing to do.

(01:54:42):
Let's take one more blind phone call caller. If you
can hear my voice, you're on the air. What is
your name, mister Ace? What's on your mind?

Speaker 16 (01:54:52):
Man?

Speaker 5 (01:54:53):
Wen y'all number and most number are like almost impossible
to get because it is footbile season in the Natty.
And I think you've got like ten million five things
to talk about. Every single time.

Speaker 6 (01:55:07):
We've even had people trying being you down.

Speaker 5 (01:55:10):
Stuff from that to the future, talked about They're gonna shoot.

Speaker 4 (01:55:13):
Joe Brato I didn't expect that one today, So I.

Speaker 37 (01:55:17):
Will admit, hey, hey, hey, you cannot make this stuff up.
I mean, it sounds like a whole package, a scene
on radio advertisement.

Speaker 6 (01:55:28):
That he just snuck in.

Speaker 4 (01:55:29):
You know, I give him, I give him credit for
not you know, mentioning the brand or the people and
you know not he towed the line perfectly. So for that,
you know, I gave him some more time. And I
appreciated that definitely.

Speaker 5 (01:55:43):
I mean I was I was thinking he was gonna
get canned for a second because I was like, he's
gonna name drop this thing or something like that, and
I wasso gonna be like, you gotta pay a advertising
and marketing apartment for the last forty five seconds of time,
and they gotta pay.

Speaker 6 (01:56:00):
For your voice over, and you're you're I would actually.

Speaker 5 (01:56:05):
Say, you gave him a couple of softball questions. But
so if that is something that could actually help Joe Burrow,
if that can help be you and my cousin who's
got two left shoes, that mean Steth, I mean, that
would really work out a whole bunch of things.

Speaker 4 (01:56:20):
Yeah, I mean I hope that I hope somebody out
there heard it and something happened, something good happens from it. Definitely, definitely,
But what do you want to talk about?

Speaker 5 (01:56:33):
I actually have wanted to talk because I have beat
the drum for the artist known as PJ Jewel to
make this team, and I did not get the same
thing about him making the team because after they did
the roster cuts and everything, you guys, like I said,
you guys, phone lines have.

Speaker 8 (01:56:51):
Been blown up.

Speaker 5 (01:56:53):
Mary, it's so hard to get through that. It's like,
just because I'm on the line right now, it might
actually make a couple people.

Speaker 6 (01:57:00):
Realize your lives are not loaded.

Speaker 5 (01:57:02):
And somebody can actually get through. But I was jokingly
gonna say PJ Jewles for Rookie of the.

Speaker 6 (01:57:09):
Year, but he got a penalty last game.

Speaker 5 (01:57:11):
So due to the fact that he's probably got about
as many stats as Shamar Stewart has in times of
accountable stats, at this point, I think they both haven't
even shot at being Rookie of the Year. But I
think I still have to give that age to Schamoar.

Speaker 6 (01:57:27):
But just happy that PJ.

Speaker 5 (01:57:30):
Jewles, the long shot and hyper active young man, made
the team from his hard work, and it's good to
see free agents make the same.

Speaker 4 (01:57:41):
Absolutely well, let's hope that he makes a couple of
plays on Monday night. Mister Ace, thank you for the
phone call.

Speaker 16 (01:57:47):
Prime Time preej Jeless the rookie of the Year.

Speaker 4 (01:57:51):
All right, that is mister Ace. We'll take a break,
we'll come back. We'll talk to John and Finley on
ESPN in fifteen thirty. Hey, it's my legger. Get ready
for Bengals and Broncos on Monday afternoon with Tony Pike
and me. We'll call it the Tony and Mo pregame
Show Monday, starting at three to five on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Hey, it's Tony Pike here new

(01:58:12):
it Pennon, Welcome back, ESPN fifteen thirty on Austin Elmore.
Happy to be with you, Wayne Box, Miller, Dave Lapham
coming up three to six this afternoon for the Bengals
pep rally show Monday night football of course Monday in Denver.

(01:58:32):
Let's go to the phones. Let's talk to my guy,
John in Finley.

Speaker 16 (01:58:36):
Hello, John, Austin, my man, how are you.

Speaker 4 (01:58:40):
I'm wonderful. What's on your mind?

Speaker 15 (01:58:42):
Well, here we are. We're at the end of the
season and we're still breathing. Although I think it's gonna
be a pretty tall order this weekend. I the way
Milwaukee plays, they could probably even sit a few guys.
And I think just the style that they play is
just they just don't beat themselves. And unless we just

(01:59:05):
unless we just go on some kind of heater and
score six or eight runs a game, I think it's.

Speaker 16 (01:59:10):
Going to be tough for us.

Speaker 4 (01:59:12):
Yeah, I'm right there with you. It's just it's never easy.
It's especially never easy in that building.

Speaker 5 (01:59:19):
Uh So.

Speaker 4 (01:59:19):
Yeah, And I'm sure they want to try to eliminate
the rets. I'm sure they do.

Speaker 8 (01:59:23):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:59:23):
I don't. I don't think they want to to see
their division rival get in.

Speaker 15 (01:59:27):
Sure, sure, I would guess it's all hands on deck.
As far as the pitching goes, I would guess. Pagonde
may not be available to East pitch the last two days,
so I'm not sure what his status is for tonight.
But I think other than that, I think you've probably
got about everyone else. Antions pitched a couple of days

(01:59:49):
in a row. So but at this point you just
kind of kind of go inning by inning and see
what happens.

Speaker 4 (01:59:56):
Yeah, you kind of just go for it and you know,
figure out the rest later.

Speaker 5 (02:00:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:00:01):
Yeah, I didn't.

Speaker 15 (02:00:02):
And the way the season's gone, I've said all along,
I imagine we're gonna get to it's gonna go down
to Sunday afternoon in the eighth or ninth inning.

Speaker 8 (02:00:10):
Uh.

Speaker 15 (02:00:10):
And I see major League Baseball as all the games
at right around three o'clock, so it'll it'll all end
right around the same time. So I guess we'll see what.

Speaker 7 (02:00:21):
I guess.

Speaker 15 (02:00:21):
The thing is, you just want to get to Sunday.

Speaker 4 (02:00:23):
Yeah, that's exactly right. You want to have someone to
play for on that final day of the season. Uh,
and see what happens.

Speaker 7 (02:00:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:00:31):
And I don't know.

Speaker 15 (02:00:32):
The last few games here, I don't know if we've
just basically decided to cut off the running game for
some reason.

Speaker 16 (02:00:41):
And I don't know why.

Speaker 15 (02:00:42):
I don't think Pittsburgh's catchers are great enough that we
were scared to run. But even in running situations, we
just kind of don't do it anymore. And I don't
I guess I don't know why.

Speaker 4 (02:00:54):
Yeah, And it's kind of been the story of the
entire season, how the Reds just simply don't do it.
And I think that's a big part of Terry Francona's philosophy.
They really pretty much only run in steel situations, two outs,
runner on first, that type of stuff. I mean, one
of the best teams in stealing bases a year ago.

(02:01:15):
They have one hundred and four so far this season.
That's nineteenth in Major League Baseball. So it's not a
prerequisite to winning, because there are some good teams. Toronto
barely steels, Detroit barely steels, Houston barely steels. But it's
been a major thorn in the side I think of
the Reds this year, especially considering how difficult it's been

(02:01:35):
for them to string hits together.

Speaker 15 (02:01:37):
Yeah, and when you talk about situational baseball and situational hitting,
I mean, that's all part of it. And I think
the teams you just mentioned they hit the ball pretty well,
so you can kind of make you can make a
case for them. Okay, well, they really don't want to
run into outs because they hit the ball well enough

(02:01:59):
that they don't want to get way outs on the bases.
But I guess for us, especially earlier this week, in
that one game, it's like, well, if you have a
guy on first base, what's the odds of him getting
a hit as opposed to getting into a double play.
And it seems like we hit into a lot of
double plays. And it's like, man, if we got a
guy that's halfway fast, and you have to pick your spots.

(02:02:22):
I mean, obviously, pitchers aren't gonna throw a fastball on
every pitch, so you pick your spots, okay. Or is
a case where a guy's gonna probably throw an off
speed pitch that would be a good pitch to run on,
And we still just don't really, we just don't even
really adopt that very well. And it's it's kind of puzzling.
But and I'm more of an older school baseball guy

(02:02:44):
and all that. I was thinking about that yesterday with
Marte when he was up a couple of different times.
I just I don't think there's a scenario under the
sun where Marte's gonna bunt.

Speaker 4 (02:02:57):
I just it doesn't matter.

Speaker 15 (02:03:00):
You could put the guy on second base, nobody out,
bottom of the seventeenth inning and he's not gonna bunt.

Speaker 16 (02:03:09):
He's he's in.

Speaker 15 (02:03:10):
So either I hope he gets a hit, or he's
probably gonna strike out or not not move that runner over.
And just that's just that's to me, that's bad baseball.

Speaker 4 (02:03:24):
Yeah, I'm with you, John, And if you remember, there
was a time this year where Marte tried to bunt
on his own. It went horribly bad. And so there
are times, you know like that over the course of
a season. I'm up against the clock. I gotta take
a break. We'll come back, we'll do a short quick
hits and then we'll get you out of here. For
the Bengals pep rally show, Reds have a lot to do.
They got to clean it up going into Milwaukee this weekend.

(02:03:46):
They played a couple of clean series for the most
part against Pittsburgh and Chicago got to finish it out
against the Brewers. Quick Hits is next ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 8 (02:03:56):
You just keept your business broke.

Speaker 13 (02:03:59):
Since the three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (02:04:05):
It's time for Cincy three sixty Quick.

Speaker 8 (02:04:08):
Hits on ESPN fifteenth thres Looking.

Speaker 4 (02:04:10):
For Mo, Well, we're all looking for Mo, but Moe's
not here. Mo is with Tony on their way out
to Kansas ahead of the bear Cats and the Jayhawks
coming up this weekend. So it's just me. I'm riding
solo today in the quick Hits portion of the show,
and we're gonna end things a little bit early because
we've got Rendaman and Jones on baseball coming up ahead

(02:04:33):
of the Bengals pep Rally show, Wayne box Miller and
Dave Lapham. Here's the scenarios very simply for you. The Reds,
if they are winless over the next three in Milwaukee,
are eliminated. If they go one and two, they need
the Mets to go oh and three and Arizona to
go two and one or worse. If the Reds go
two and one, they need the Mets to go one

(02:04:55):
and two or worse and the d Bacs would be eliminated.
If the red go three to zero, they need the
Mets to go two and one or worse and the
d Backs are eliminated. Long story short, just win the
baseball games. By the way, I'll be back here solo
Monday from twelve to three ahead of Bengals Broncos. We'll
talk to Parker Gabriel, who covers the Broncos for the

(02:05:18):
Denver Post. Also, I'm gonna be on seven hundred WLW
Sunday afternoon after the Red season finale so join me
then for extra innings as we figure this whole thing out.
Bengals pep Rally is next right here on the Home
of the Bengals, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 28 (02:05:34):
United Dairy Farmers presents Frenneman and Jones.

Speaker 1 (02:05:38):
On Baseball Drop to You Win, part by Encore Technologies.

Speaker 8 (02:05:42):
On Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 17 (02:05:45):
Kryser, Reger and Milwaukee. They open up the Big Three
Games series tonight and every win now is vitally, vitally
important as they try to be the final wildcard team
in the National League that.

Speaker 6 (02:05:57):
Would at all likely.

Speaker 17 (02:05:58):
He go to Los Angeles and face the Dodge Is
beginning on Tuesday. Tough series here because they're facing a
club that they haven't won a seasonal series in in
like two or three years, and this season they've lost
to them seven out of ten times in the division
winning Brewers Well, they.

Speaker 5 (02:06:14):
Have the best record in all of baseball, pretty close
to it. I actually did a.

Speaker 38 (02:06:18):
Little research because I don't know why they're so good,
and looking at.

Speaker 6 (02:06:23):
The stats, Marty, I still don't know why they're so good.

Speaker 11 (02:06:26):
Kristin Yelli's having a good year, but you're.

Speaker 38 (02:06:28):
Talking about a team that plays together in just overall baseball,
whether it's building or pitching. They've got something going on
there and it's pretty special Milwaukee. People talk about a
lot of teams they don't talk much about the Brewers
do that, No.

Speaker 8 (02:06:42):
They really don't.

Speaker 17 (02:06:43):
In fact, I think back to when the season began
and we're trying to assess teams that had the talent
to win a division, this Central Division that I didn't
pick Milwaukee at all. I thought Milwaukee would be okay,
but they lost two key players in the off season.
I would have never dreamed that they would have done
what they've done this season. That's a real credit to

(02:07:05):
the manager of that ball club. Will probably be National
League Manager of the Year. But it's going to be
interesting to see how this series plays out. There is
going to be at a major disadvantage as far as
pitching is concerned, and we'll talk more about that in
just a moment. Looking variety solutions
