Speaker 2 (00:42):
Back our two Monday Midday Quarterback thanks to Cinci Shirts
as well ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Let's take
a look, Austin at what happened around the rest of
the National Football League yesterday, Starting early yesterday morning, What

(01:02):
do you make of the Browns and the Vikings. I
thought some fight from the Browns. I thought at times
Dylan Gabriel looked good in his first start against a
good defense. I also think that the Browns got it
right with Quinn Shawn Judkins. I think he's going to
be a star at running back. I thought, Gabriel looked
the part fan and at tight end, looks like he's

(01:23):
going to be a good player. They're getting some good
production from their rookies. Carson Wentz, though, give credit where
credits due. He made the drive at the end of
the game when it mattered most found Jordan Addison for
a touchdown, justin Jefferson's having catches for a buck. Twenty three.
Vikings beat the Browns and what was a pretty fun
one in England.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Carson Wentz remembered, Oh, yeah, number eighteen is out there.
I can just throw it to him and he'll figure
it out. But crazy thought, Yeah, the thing with me
is watching Cleveland. It stands out how good that rookie
group is for them, not only on offense, but on
defense too. With Carson Swestinger, I think he had twelve
total tackles ye day. Ronnie Hickman, who is an Ohio
State guy, has really emerged there. So yeah, I mean,

(02:05):
I think Cleveland is better than we all thought, but
they just haven't been as productive or as consistent on offense.
I think Jerry Judy has been a pretty big disappointment
to this point. But Quinn Shawn Judkins, they have something there,
and Dylan Gabriel was okay, he was fine, and they
got some pieces. But yeah, I mean it's without question
that they have some pieces. I still think Kevin's fancy's

(02:27):
a good coach. Forty Did you know, by the way,
that was the first ever matchup between two head coaches
named Kevin Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Yeah, write that down. Let's stick in the AFC North
decimated by injuries already going into the game. Lamar Jackson
didn't play for the Ravens. Neither did Kyle Hamilton, Marlin
Humphrey or a slew of others. Roquan Smith forty four
to ten at the hands of the Texans.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Don't know that that would have been different if any
of those guys play forty four to ten. And yet
Austin listen to this, somehow, some way. At now one
and four.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Baltimore is still the betting favorite in the AFC North.
They are still minus odds at one oh five. Pittsburgh
is plus one thirty Bengals plus eleven hundred, Cleveland plus
seventeen hundred.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
It's gonna say, does that say more about Baltimore or
more about Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
I think it says more about the jury still being
not on Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, I would agree with that. I mean, listen, it
feels like thanks for the memories Baltimore. So far in
games this season, they've given up forty one, seventeen, thirty eight,
thirty seven, and forty four points per game.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Crazy. That's not good.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
And they put a lot into their defense in the offseason,
and so I'm curious to see if maybe there's a
change coming there with Zach Orr potentially getting fired. I
don't know, but they just can't stop anybody. And I
understand that they were hurt a little bit, but that's bad.
The way that they prefer warmed against Baltimore or against Houston.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yep, it feels like, look like they could be over there. Uh,
Carolina did not roll over. They come from an early
deficit to beat the Miami Dolphins. What about what lou
Anaarumo in That Colts defense has cooking? Yeah, grant. They
also put forty points on the board, picked off Gino
Smith twice. Colts are four and one. They beat the
Raiders forty to six. What a weird storyline though. In

(04:25):
India over the weekend, Mark Sanchez, who reportedly stabbed, was
in the hospital and here you have this like outpouring
of support to Mark Sanchez and and how good of
a guy he is, and and prayers and everything else,
and then it comes out, Wait a second, they're looking
into Mark Sanchez from a from a police side of

(04:47):
things as the alleged aggressor. And then and they took
it a step further. What a what a unbelievable twist.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
The charges have been raised now to a felony charge
as of this morning, according to the Indianapolis Polite, the
police department still waiting for all the details, but the
gist of it is that Mark appeared to be intoxicated
after leaving a bar, got into an altercation with a
delivery driver who was I believe nearly seventy years old.
That driver apparently tried to pepper spray him and it

(05:22):
didn't work, and Mark continued to come after him, and
the altercation continued and the guy pulled out his knife
to defend himself and ended up with Mark Sanchez in
the hospital. So crazy, Just a wild situation for a
guy who I mean, I like Mark Sanchez. I've liked
him on the broadcast. I hear him a lot with
Dan Patrick and think he's really good. He's got a

(05:44):
wife and I think three young kids, so it doesn't
really add up what we've heard from Mark Sanchez.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
So really strange.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
And I do think by the way it's people were
kind of getting yelled at for sending their thoughts and prayers.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I mean, the guy got stabbed. You can do it, yes, yeah,
and you do it.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
He recovers and figures out what the hell happens, so
it don't happen again.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Spencer Ratler gets his first win and ten chances as
a quarterback. They get their first win over the Giants.
More like Jackson Fart. Giants at one point turn it
over on five straight possessions. Not good cowboys there before
cowboys dominated the Jets. How about the Broncos seventeen to
three deficit, scored eighteen in the fourth beat the Philadelphia
Eagles twenty one to seventeen. Titans get win number one.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Can I go back to the Eagles for a second.
They ran the ball eleven times? Yeah, I don't get it.
They had the lead the entire game.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
They were up seventeen three, seventeen to three going into
the fourth. They ran the ball eleven times and Saquon
got six of those. What are they doing?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Six carries thirty yards. Saquon Barkley averaged five yards of carry.
Jalen Hurts only carried it two times for three yards.
I don't get it. None of that made sense yesterday.
None of it made sense, and the Titans win either.
When are we going to stop dropping the ball before
players cross the goal line? What a terrible home loss
by the Arizona Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
The Cardinals have lost their last three games by a
combined five points.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
And shout out to Brian Callahan for win number one.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
All on field goals at the end of regulation sixteen
to fifteen. They lost to San Francisco, twenty three to
twenty to Seattle, and twenty two to twenty.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
One to Tennessee. If now they had a situation the
Colts and Yeah Packers situation where they could have scored
on a defensive touchdown. Player drops the ball going into
the end zone. Huh. And then another pass that cam
Ward threw an interception on is then fumbled. Two guys
try to fall on it, and it scorts into the
end zone and Tyler Lockett falls on it. Hilarious, unbelievable

(07:46):
win by the Tennessee Titans Commanders. After the Chargers jumped
out ten to nothing, Commanders scored the next twenty seven.
Chargers have now lost two in a row injuries. It
feels like starting to add up for the Chargers. How
about with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baker Mayfield keep
doing a mechag Buka seven catches, one sixty three and
a tutter. If you ask, hey wa whoa, whoa whoa,

(08:09):
I could figure it out. Man. The Buccaneers are fun.
Baker threw for three seventy nine and two touchdowns yesterday.
They're getting some stuff out of the run game. They're
doing this still without Godwin and Mike Evans, and they're
missing guys up front. Yet they are still four and one.
They are a blocked field goal away from beating the
Eagles and being five and zero. I love everything about him,

(08:31):
and I was looking at this yesterday austin the front
office in Tampa. What a job they've done at roster development, drafting,
and free agency. They've hit on seemingly everything and coaching,
you know, Liam Cohen moves on offense picks up where
it was just a hell of a job all around

(08:52):
by Tampa.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I think that they they couldn't end up being in
the Super Bowl. They're good, Like, I think they're that
good of a team.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
And if they are, they should wear those jerseys from yesterday.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
And on top of it, you know they're banged up. Man,
They've got injuries everywhere, all over the place, and yet
they're still productive.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Pretty impressive last game last night the Patriots. It wasn't
a FLUCD. Didn't feel like it.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Is like somebody tried to tell you about the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
I don't know who it was. It felt like they
just flat out beat. Like it didn't take the Bills
melting down. Now, they did turn the ball over. I
like what I'm seeing on the Patriots defense. I certainly
like what I'm seeing out of Drake May. They beat
the Bills twenty three to twenty like the next four for.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
New England Saints, Titans, Browns, Falcons.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
How about that. I also saw a story on Bill Belichick.
Have you seen this? Yeah, I'm out on Bill Bellich.
So this is so. This was reported earlier, I believe
by Ross Martin, who's a college editor at Carolina, but
it's at the University of North Carolina. Staff has been
directed by Bill Belichick not to post or repost anything

(10:01):
to the Patriots, which takes away austin from their quarterback
Drake May, who played at North Carolina, wins an unbelievable
Sunday night football game, and they are being asked not
to post or repost anything about Drake May because he
plays with New England even though he is a former
quarterback at North Carolina.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
It's a detriment, what a joke man, detriment to recruiting.
It's selfish, its egotistical. Don't like it from Bill Belichick
at all. He's just there's there's no room for that
type of pediment. You're hell pettiness, You're you're hurting your
football program.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
The North Carolina Twitter account posted both Javonte Williams touchdowns,
but not one thing from Drake May and the Patriot.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
And if you remember, their scouts aren't allowed in North
Carolina at all.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Sorts of what a joke man. Week five wraps up
tonight with Kansas City at Jacksonville. Let's take a couple
of these phone calls here. What's up, Mark?

Speaker 5 (11:02):
Well, I got some tony pite questions, so I spread
him out during the week. When you run in an offense.
Are you allowed to go under the center?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
You're allowed to?

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Yes, yes, yeah, Because yesterday he stayed in shotguns for
the whole game. I didn't never see him under the center,
not one time. And I'm feeling vindicated about me complaining
about coaches all the time, because you know, I mean,
I heard some complaining about the defensive coordinator having defensive

(11:32):
ends drop back in coverage, which I think that's valid.
And the biggest thing that stood out to me yesterday
was it wasn't the worst quarterback performance I've ever seen
with the Bengals.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
What stood out to.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Me is I thought Jake brown And should have got bnched.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
And Zach kind of alluded to it by saying I
heard the booze. I'm sure not many people thought he
should be in there, so even he was alluding to
it there in the post game.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Okay, but this going forward, if they decided to stick
with him and Zach's gonna probably be the coach for
the rest of the season, I'm I would assume that
that's gonna happen. I'm hoping for Okay, if he could
give up the play goll and do these at least
for one game, I want to see what the what
the play calls look like for one game without him,

(12:27):
and then if somebody could tell the quarterback, hey, look,
just take what the defense is giving because one of
those interceptions he had to tight end I think open,
like right in the middle of the field, and it
was that one where he threw it with the linebacker
was just like right there.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
So you know, great quarterbacks they take what the defense
gives them. I mean Peyton Manning with Denkin dunk all
the way down the field, if you was gonna give
him a five yard pass, he take the five go
off at Yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
How you're supposed to do it.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
Yeah. I think Jake Brownie, I think he I think
he falls in love with trying to make that big
throw all the time.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:09):
If he would just take the take the underneath stuff,
and take what the defense is given them, I think
you'll see a better result. So I'll get off and
listen to the rest of it.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yeah, Mark, thank you for the phone call. Certainly kind
of what we discussed there at the UH at the
top with everything that had happened with Jake Browning. Throughout
the afternoon, Chad is also calling in, Hey, Chad.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
Hey, thanks for calling listen this yesterday. I gotta blame
a lot of this on, obviously Jake Brown's problems, but
we all know that Jake Brownie his deficiency is the
airline's efficiency. And I just don't understand Zach Taylor's mind.
Like I said, you and know going out of this
and not would, but I know that's it for the
first half. Obviously, we already pretty much knew the game

(13:52):
was over, even though it was only fourteen points. But
Detroit hit twenty two past twenty one. Zach excised to
have twenty five pass ten runs. And you know, from
every time I look, Detroit was only rushing three or
four and just dropping back because they knew they could
get to him. Only rushing four and they're still dropping seven.
So I'm assuming, why would you want to keep I mean,

(14:12):
you have to establish a run. I mean I would think, correct,
you have to establish a run. He is not working.
You have to keep sticking with it. And I'm not
And we've seen this with Zach Taylor the entire time.
With Burrow, like we've always complained base like, I don't
know if he's toned up with it or it's Basically,
he's gonna use his scheme whether it works or it
doesn't work, and he just believes it's gonna work. I
guess I don't know, because we've seen him. We've all

(14:33):
talked about this from time and time again. And as
far as the Bengals scoring and points in the fourth quarter,
that was Detroit just they we roup twenty eight to three.
They put the foot off the gas, and then when
the Bengals did come to eleven and so it was
six minutes left, they went down the field in like
sixth places score with no resistance whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
So, I mean, it's just.

Speaker 6 (14:51):
I just I would like to see, you know, the
Zach Taylor's press conference is always I got to do better. Well,
I would like for him one time and say, hey,
I gotta do better. Why don't I let only have
damn pitcher play call just one time one game. Lets
someone else take care of play calling duties, because that
is clearly it has to be done.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Yeah, Chad, I appreciate the phone call, man, Thank you.
You know, Zach did kind of touch on that. Yeah.
I mean, today's gonna be interesting hearing him today.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Ben Baby was was tweeting this out after the game
about how Zach was putting the loss on himself after
a third straight offensive, showing quote from Zach when the
head coach is the play caller. That's where it ends
right there. So that, to me is the first time
I can remember Zach Taylor saying, hey, hand up. As

(15:37):
a play caller, I wasn't very good, which to me,
I would imagine Zach feels the heat. This is one
of the things you do. When you feel the heat,
you start setting up for the idea of, Okay, we're
gonna switch play calls, maybe to buy yourself some more time,
maybe to try to fix.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Whatever is. And I get to his point there, like
there's a there's an opportunity. You're not a great running team,
but if you ever want to have a chance to
maybe open up some runs, you can't just abandon the run. Correct.
There are plenty of teams that run the ball early
and may get stop, but they do it so they
can run the ball late when they wear down the
defensive line. Bengals do not do that when they're running

(16:17):
the ball. We got time for one more call and then
we're going to get the talkbacks. What's up, Bob, Hey,
Tony Pike.

Speaker 7 (16:23):
Nice talking to you, A long time listener of you
and Autie and enjoy all you guys do. Thank you,
thank you, thank you for being my therapy couch and
this is whatever this season is.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
He thanks.

Speaker 7 (16:33):
Two quick questions for you, and then just have to
a second question follow up on what you would think
of this? First real quick question, what would number nine
stat line be for me?

Speaker 4 (16:43):
Yesterday?

Speaker 2 (16:44):
With that?

Speaker 7 (16:44):
With that secondary?

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Uh, with the secondary that Detroit trotted out there, that
would have probably been some type of like thirty eight
thirty five shootout, because I think Joe Burrow would have
put up some really good numbers.

Speaker 8 (16:57):
I agree.

Speaker 7 (16:58):
And the second question is is not a huge fan
of Russ Wilson. The third what do you think rus
Wilson would have done yesterday?

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Of that?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Give me about three hundo. I just don't think, in
going back and watching, I just don't think a quarterback
like Russell Wilson would have made the read mistakes that
Jake Browning made. There were throws to be made, basic
stuff to be made, and at the very minimum, Russell
Wilson or someone else could do that. Jake Browning could

(17:27):
not do that yesterday.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
So given that I agree with you putting you on
your Duke Tobin hat. What would be wrong in getting
with the giants and say we've got this potentially great
wide receiver that has a head case in Jermaine Burton,
Jermaine Burton for rus Wilson. Would you do that as
a general manager if they were in I.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Don't even think it would take that. I think it
would take you sending them a six round pick and
they would do it. I genuinely think that that it
would take a six round pick. You could keep Jermaine
Burton to see what happens, and you could get Russell
Wilson in exchange for a six and probably in a
couple of weeks you're gonna end up moving Trey Hendrickson
because you're in no man's land and you're gonna recuperate
that pick. And more so, yes, I would have already

(18:09):
done it by now to signify the locker room that
I'm not giving up, that we're still trying. The fact
that they haven't done it yet is mind boggling to me.

Speaker 7 (18:17):
To be honest, Well, thank you and Audi for what
you do. A lot of us listen never call in.
But today I decided to get that off on my test.
So thank you you guys.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
Thanks Bob, appreciate the words. Thank you. All right, let's
uh it is becoming one of the only bright spots
I have. Austin on Sunday nights is thinking about how
good talkbacks will be the day after a loss. Oh yeah,
we'll get to those next on the SPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati sports station. Here on the Monday midday quarterback. Now
your chance join that time for talkbacks.

Speaker 9 (18:47):
Press the microphone and record your message for Usta and tone.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Please keep it clean and don't be mean.

Speaker 9 (18:56):
And a sprinkle sprinkled drip drip. It's that time for talkbacks.
It's our favorite part of Sancy three six day. Oh yeah, Austin, buddy,
played that talk back on your screen, and please try
not to Saba.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Since he church gift card is up for grabs on Friday,
we're a little bit backed up on those. I know,
I gotta gotta give out a couple I gotta well,
we we were on on the road on Friday.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
That makes it difficult to do the giveaway, and I
think we didn't do the last two weeks before that.
Let's give multiple gift cards gone this Friday. Maybe we'll
give a gift card away Thursday. Then well I'm gone
Thursday as well. Maybe we'll give a gift card away Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Give away every day this week, I'll give one away
every day after today.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
I do want to bring this up just right now
while we have a moment, because I know this it's
a Monday midday quarterback. But did you see the announcement
from Nick Crawl today?

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Hated it?

Speaker 3 (19:52):
Mark Sheldon reports what Nick Kral said that all of
the Reds coaches on Terry Francona's staff have been invited
back for next season.

Speaker 2 (20:03):
Yeah, I saw that.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
I was told a few weeks ago that that wasn't
going to happen. I was told that there would be
some changes on that staff, and now everybody's coming back.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Come on back. I don't like it. Come on back.
I really don't like that.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Brutal.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
I just want to go on the record by saying fair,
all right to the talkbacks, Ton, how about.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Your bear Cats? Forget about them? Cyclones look like a
cat and Nato touchdowner and Ames Iowa striper Jeneral look
more like FC Cincinnati day of all that orange and
blue out there, and you knew that Jim I Chase.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Would be a better corner back than CTV Zach Taylor,
Jake brown And continues to be just a jag, you know,
just another guy and fellas.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
And I'm missing something. You're gonna have to get on
a stick there. Three weeks a row, you've missed giving
away the sins.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
He shared cars, We're giving it away. We're gonna do
multiples this week.

Speaker 10 (21:00):
Look, people are gonna complain about Zach Taylor, people are
gonna complain about Jake Browning.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
I get it.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
I'm mad about those things.

Speaker 10 (21:05):
But the thing actually that has me the most bad
is that Al Golden worked. This defense is slightly better
than last year. It's not amazing, but it is slightly
better than last year. They are getting stops, they're getting turnovers,
they're getting off the field when they need to. The
offense can't do anything. It is gassing the defense. Then
they give up, and it's just terrible. It's so frustrating.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
Problem with that is they're doing what they were asked
to do with the assumption when Burrow was healthy. They
can't rise more to the occasion because the offense now
isn't as dominant that's not all the defense's fault, but
it just goes to the disaster. That is the way
this roster has been constructed.

Speaker 11 (21:42):
Also, I'm in team go get a quarterback. It can't
be worse than what is currently going on right now.
Get a quarterback. The division is still wide open. That's
what's so frustrating the Ravens and the Browns. Hello, the
Steelers come out. The division's wide open. Get a quarterback.
The defense is playing good enough. I think just just go.
That's Johnny's opinion. Who did think you, John?

Speaker 12 (22:05):
It's so bad down at pay Court Stadium right now
that Bishop Reedy would.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Beat this team. I think Bishop Sycamore might beat him.

Speaker 13 (22:12):
Hey, fellas, are you tired of talking about the Bengal yet?

Speaker 14 (22:19):
Christ knows I am. I want to talk about the Reds.
I think to hear me out, we move Ellie to centerfield.
The guy can run like a deer, and then we
move Stayer to second base. He's a third baseman in
the past. He can play a second, move McLean the
short he used to be a short stop and keep
bigs out anchored at first base.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Oh boy, I'm not ready for that yet.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
I'm not tonyss Goon from Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
What goon?

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Just a tough matchup, right, right, aast matchup. They'll get
it together against the Packers. Right, that's not a tough maout.

Speaker 14 (22:57):
Oh wait, I did want to say though, for coach Saturday,
you see it looks pretty good.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Yeah, I mean I was watching that.

Speaker 13 (23:08):
Yeah, Iowa State, and I don't know if that was
just a tough matchup for Iowa State, but it looked
like a good matchup for Sowersby. And uh, I don't know,
maybe he maybe he is the tough matchup. He'll be
the he'll be tough for every opposing defense, I guess
going forward. So it's kind of nice to be the
tough matchup on the schedule.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
How about that? You think Scott Frost today is saying
man since he just a tough matchup, Scott Frost nipping.

Speaker 15 (23:37):
Hey guys, it's Jeff and New Richmond. Happy Monday to you.
Another Bengals loss, another embarrassing effort. I don't care if
it was the thirteen point game. It wasn't that close.
I think you need to fire Zach Taylor. Bring in
John Gruden.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Why not.

Speaker 15 (23:56):
He's reputable, he's going to build an experience coaching staff
that may he can turn this thing around.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Do you think here's my Here's why I'm out on
John Gruden. Two reasons. Number One, it just is instill
in the midst of suing the National Football League and
that stuff like there was just news about that over
the weekend. Number Two, in Cincinnati, coaches are required to
have a significant input on drafting, developing, and scouting. When

(24:30):
John had a significant input in Las Vegas and in Oakland,
they went backwards, especially with Mike Mayock. That second time around,
they drafted some awful, awful players. Their big hit was
Max Crosby later in the rounds, and you know, those
those types of picks that happens from time to time.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
But.

Speaker 3 (24:52):
That I would worry about. Yeah, but it's not to
say you shouldn't at least consider it. Say anything at
this point is considerable. How long you I think after
the Red's announcement, will Zach Taylor come back and say
the invite is back for everyone to come back on
this staff.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
Well, he didn't get to make that decision. Good morning, guys,
Morning Jena.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
Here.

Speaker 16 (25:10):
You know, I really have to say that I was
kind of proud of our defense. I thought they did
pretty good considering we were playing Detroit. If it wasn't
for those what is it three interceptions, I don't know
who knows what the score could have been, But it's
time to get a new quarterback. Browning is not the guy.
What have we got to lose except for another game?

Speaker 4 (25:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
My only worry with that is when the Bengals made
it interesting at all, Detroit went and did whatever they
wanted offensively.

Speaker 17 (25:44):
Up guys Nikahoun in Kentucky watching Jamar Chasey the last
couple of weeks, I think he's.

Speaker 4 (25:49):
Really being supportive.

Speaker 17 (25:51):
So I think he knows that Joe Brady's gonna be
the next head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm reading into it.

Speaker 17 (25:57):
And then on the Reds front, I was doing the
numbers you can get Kyle Schober. Oh gosh, okay, let's
be honest.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
That game was never in doubt. It was never close.

Speaker 18 (26:11):
No, and no, I'm not encouraged by Browning throwing a
few touchdowns against an injured secondary that was playing soft
coverage and a prevent defense.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
He's terrible.

Speaker 18 (26:22):
If this team isn't the worst team, in the league.
It's certainly bottom three. The season's over. They get the
same odds to win the division as the Cleveland Browns,
and then you know, this week they're plus eight ten
on FanDuel on the money line against the Packers.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
It's over.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
That's why I said demoralizing, because it never sprinkled, never
felt like they had a chance to win yesterday.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Worth a sprinkle, isn't it. You'll be there, I know.
Maybe that's what it takes. I haven't been to a
game this year. Okay, maybe that's what it takes. Okay,
you might never come back. Yeah, I might see if
I can get onto Iheartgreen Bay, see if I can
cover a winner.

Speaker 19 (26:58):
Finally got my Halloween cost to figured out, but it's
down to two U. One is gonna cut up like
three pounds of onions, get my eyelids all puffy and everything,
and it's gonna sit in the corner of the party
and shake my head back and forth like Jake Browning
and wear his jersey. The other one is take a

(27:18):
bunch of caffeine and get my eyes all wide and
bugged out, just like Zach Taylor, and walk around to
party with my arms out asking why.

Speaker 18 (27:29):
And the sad thing is that Line's defense is the
worst defense that they're gonna play, probably in the worst
in the first seven weeks of the year, and you
couldn't get anything moving until garbage time. Yeah, and you
look at Browning's QBR and passer rating because QBR is
in the twenties in all these games, in the sixties
for the for the passer rating. I mean, they have

(27:53):
to You cannot keep moving forward with this guy.

Speaker 20 (27:55):
I agree, I agree, Yep, yep, Tony Addi, Craig and
the Creek. Just when you thought things had finally gotten
bad enough to force change, this offense has to go
and show signs of life, kicking the can down the
road again. Can somebody please explain to me how the
offense that we saw the second half of yesterday is

(28:18):
the same offense that we've been watching all season.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
There were receivers open, there were running lanes. Jake Browning
had time.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
I think so much of it was on what Detroit
was doing or not doing.

Speaker 21 (28:32):
It's the Lord, Hey, Zach Taylor, if I wanted to
see a clown show, I would go to a circus.

Speaker 12 (28:39):
I hear the Barnum and Daly is hiring.

Speaker 11 (28:41):
You'd be a great ring leader.

Speaker 21 (28:44):
You should apply.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Wow, you'd be a ring list leader. Unwavering confidence. Yep,
well done, well done, I.

Speaker 22 (29:01):
Guess Marcus from the grove, Marcus that game scene from
start to finish, like Zach punted as soon as he
walked out the locker room, leaving Jake in as long
as he did for the.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Entire game before.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Not a smart move.

Speaker 22 (29:16):
I understand you just brought in Mike White, But in
all honesty, can he do any worse?

Speaker 4 (29:21):
I don't think so.

Speaker 22 (29:23):
And for the Bearcats, not trying to be negative Tony,
but being favorite at home, I don't think he stormed
the field highest.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
Was it the highest ranked team to come in to
Nipper and get a win in quite some time? I
have no problem with it. Fans are excited about it.
I'm okay with it. I didn't love it. I'm okay
with it.

Speaker 12 (29:42):
Did you say seven to ten days, Austin?

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Yep?

Speaker 12 (29:48):
Once you try years, my friend. These guys aren't making
a move, dude. The built in excuses are already here.
Zach Taylor will be coaching this team next year.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
Year.

Speaker 12 (30:00):
Duke Tobin will be the whatever position he holds, he
will be there. Market sucks the.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Good news you don't know what the good news says Austin.
Jake Browning wasn't the worst offensively graded PFF player yesterday,
Orlando brown Nope. Dylan Fairchild yep. Dylan Fairchild thirty eight
point seven, Jake Browning thirty eight point eight. Tony Austin
could shaff from Ross.

Speaker 23 (30:26):
It's evident through the Denver and the Detroit games that
all these teams are looking at us as a joint
practice type of game style where they just try out
a bunch of things that they want to work on
with their players, and if they feel threatened in the game,
they just go their normal stuff.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
It's gonna be a long year. We're still losing by
two digits, so.

Speaker 23 (30:45):
Try to look for the positive, see some growth, hopefully
get some find some core players that'll stick around for.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Did he call himself coach? Are we turning into the
homecoming opponent? Tony Austin could shae from Ross.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Yeah, he's coach, he got himself. Maybe he coaches it wrong.
Do you think coach Saban calls himself coach? Might be
you think Zach Taylor calls himself, Hey, it's coach.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Taylor. Yes, I don't think hundred percent. I think he says, hey,
it's coach slash offensive coordinator Zach Taylor here with the utmost,
utmost and unwavering.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
He calls his doctor's office. He's like, Hey, it's coach Taylor.
I need to they say an appointment. The offensive coordinator
as well calls his wife. Hey, it's coach Taylor. I'm
on my way home.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Let's stay at the office. Put more time in.

Speaker 6 (31:32):
Yeah, Tony, I watched that game Saturday.

Speaker 24 (31:34):
How come you see he went away from the run
in the second half.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
They were dominating the first half with the run.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Uh. For the most part, Iowa State started selling out
to the line of scrimmage run blitzes, winning the numbers game.
And that's why I thought for a lot of the
second half Swarersby wasn't sharp until he needed to be
on the deep ball to Caleb Goodie. I thought Iowa
State's adjustment was much more aggressiveness at the line of scrimmage.
Run blitzes at the snap makes it hard to successfully

(32:03):
run if they bring one more hat in the box
that you can't block, and they eventually made them pay
for that.

Speaker 25 (32:09):
Hello, this is former president Ronald re again well, Jake
Browning's late game fourth quarter junk time stats not only
made Tim Couch proud, but it had also likely saved
Zach Taylor his job. That game was not nearly as
close as the final score indicated. In fact, Mitt Romney

(32:30):
and Michael Decoccus both felt sorry for the Bengals.

Speaker 26 (32:36):
Hey, guys, Davis, I should be a little more positive
in this message.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
You don't.

Speaker 26 (32:42):
For three quarters yesterday it was the same old crap.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
Jake Browning's not the answer.

Speaker 26 (32:48):
Zach Taylor obviously isn't the answer anymore either, But I
was afraid that would happen, that they put together some
drives in the fourth quarter, you know, just to save
some people's jobs. I'm sorry Browning, and Zach Taylor is
still not the answer.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
Some things need to change.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Have a good day, all.

Speaker 27 (33:05):
Right, Austin Tone TJ east Side. First Off, Audie, Wow,
finally coming around.

Speaker 15 (33:14):
I love it.

Speaker 27 (33:16):
Zach has got to go. Second, Tony, great job this
weekend on the radio. Third, I'm guessing what's about to
come is the highlight of Zach going. If we would
have caught that yep on side game, we would have
won that game, and I firmly believe that if we
keep Jake Browning, we'll make the Super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (33:39):
Robin Dayton Again.

Speaker 26 (33:40):
Sorry for the double dip, but in case the local
TV viewers don't realize they left that game yesterday due
to a non competitive contest, I don't know if the
local people know that the nationwide they finally turned that
game off for the viewers.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
I kind of wish they would have done it in
our area too. That's all.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
And one of the crazy things in a year where
we might start looking at mock drafts. There are the
top ten teams right now. Arizona and Carolina two and three,
New York, Tennessee, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Miami, Baltimore, Cleveland
are all one and four, and the Jets are zero
and five. There's a lot of bad Tony.

Speaker 28 (34:23):
I was wondering maybe if you heard a phone call
for the Big twelve commissioner at around the end of
the second quarter Saturday, they want to keep that game close.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Anyway, that storm in the field that was pretty cool.

Speaker 28 (34:36):
Took me back to my day of the Big East
and storm in the field when someone else made a
big win.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
I have no problem at all, no problem at all.

Speaker 29 (34:46):
Good afternoon, Tony and Audi. Hey, I'm impressed with the
way the defense responded yesterday.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
That was almost.

Speaker 29 (34:54):
A winning defense if you had a decent offense. Is
magic Mike just that bad that they couldn't have given
him a chance in the second half after that poor
performance by the gun.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Slinger, Mike White is not even acting.

Speaker 30 (35:11):
Yeah, let me know what you think.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
That's a great part the active roster. I'm talking about
ripping as.

Speaker 14 (35:16):
Bad as things are now, Lest not we forget the
Bengals are two flup plays away from being zero to five.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Yeah, we've talked about that a lot. We aren't forgetting
it at all.

Speaker 2 (35:29):
Yep.

Speaker 21 (35:31):
God bless Jim Kelly. We're on his side. Great win
for the Bearcats. They've got a solid, solid team. I
really worried about Sadderfield. He's got it going right now.
It seems like a size rushing the past or better.
I don't understand why he'd being covered. I would play

(35:53):
Berks more, make it makes sense.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
Yeah, the the Bearcats are well balanced and all man.
They can beach in a lot of ways.

Speaker 31 (36:03):
Austin, your sports bucket list topic on Friday night was
such a big hit. I suggest that we moved that
forward as the Doldrums approach more sooner than later, maybe
into November, even to resurface that topic again.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
At the reservice a lot here.

Speaker 15 (36:17):
So it's from downtown the red season.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
The Bengals are horrible.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
What even bother getting out of bed? What's the point
of it all? Lord help us, Lord help me with him,
Lord help us all.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Yeah. I was leaving baseball practice last night.

Speaker 30 (36:38):
The game had just gotten over, so I got to
listen to all the Zach Taylor's press conference on the
way home, and I think the biggest takeaway for me
was how many times he slapped the podium. I think
maybe he actually is feeling some pressure whether or not
the front office will make a move.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 30 (36:55):
I doubt that they haven't done it in recent years,
but I think he's really starting to feel some heat.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Thank God for fall Ball, Man.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Fall ball.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
I think he probably knew he had a game plan
good enough to be competitive and it wasn't executed.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (37:12):
Hey, guys, Paul from Cleaves here double dipping. The one
thing about Zach Taylor's interview. At the end of everything,
he was talking about how he could hear the crowd.
You know, to me, you're above that. You can't hear
the crowd. You're the coach.

Speaker 12 (37:28):
You know.

Speaker 8 (37:28):
He was showing his vulnerability yesterday, which is showing a
lot to me about him, and it shows me a
lot about his decision making if that's the case.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
If he was serious, Austin, you come out fourteen to
three with the ball and a chance to go score
a touchdown and be right back in the game the
second that interception was grown by Jake Brown, And if
you're serious at all about winning, you make a change. Correct.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
I have no problem with him, though I don't agree
with Paul here. I have no problem with him addressing
the elephant the room because if he doesn't address it,
then he sounds completely tone deafe. Of course he hears it,
and he should hear it, because the fans are what
makes this thing happen. And yeah, I had no problem
with him addressing that.

Speaker 32 (38:14):
Yes, still flexing catch threaton out here in Sonny hot.

Speaker 6 (38:17):
And z on it?

Speaker 2 (38:17):
What up? Tonny?

Speaker 6 (38:18):
What up?

Speaker 2 (38:18):
Boddy Man?

Speaker 32 (38:19):
First things first, Kelly, prayers for you, buddy, miss you
on radio.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Get will soon come back, Tony.

Speaker 32 (38:25):
You're doing an excellent job on radio I'm loving a
call with you and Dan Bor. I'm getting used to
this on Saturdays now we a little bit spoiled. Real talk,
Bengals trash, JBI six, don't trust coach is a joke.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Team as a joke right now. FC Cincinnati went m L.

Speaker 32 (38:38):
Let's bring home the cup on a coach set is
see hot, but I turned it down by another degree.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
Okay, okay, get comfortable coach set? You want if you
had to pick, if you're a UC fan and and
and they're both available Saturday, you want sat or fickle
coach in that game. I think a lot of I
think a lot of Bearcut fans are now so on set. Okay,
you you're not? And do you just watch.

Speaker 24 (39:02):
Fickle quip fifteen? Hey Audie s fred truck cover so uhruck.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
I hope that.

Speaker 24 (39:10):
Front office listening. I got a streak twenty coming up
with two guys that I go to the games with.
I'm at a streak five next season and we're all
debating whether to renew.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
So if that's what's gonna help them get better?

Speaker 24 (39:25):
Did they know their season ticket members are failing?

Speaker 4 (39:28):
Let's see.

Speaker 33 (39:32):
You get all dressed up every Sunday, getting ready for the Bengals.

Speaker 12 (39:36):
It's like getting stood up on a date.

Speaker 22 (39:38):
You got your jersey on, you light your pumpkin candle,
you're all excited.

Speaker 25 (39:42):
Four o'clock rules around.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
They don't show up.

Speaker 28 (39:45):
A few months go by, they still haven't shown up.

Speaker 2 (39:48):
Months. Here's the great news.

Speaker 12 (39:49):
Only one hundred and twenty seven days.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
No, I'm not doing that report.

Speaker 24 (39:54):
Oh boy, Jake Browning cannot process fast enough.

Speaker 22 (40:01):
Okay, Jake Brownie to process that.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
You know, yes, I agree.

Speaker 16 (40:10):
The wheels on the bust star, following falling off, following off,
the wheels on the falling off, all.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Around the team done. Hey as Tony here.

Speaker 17 (40:25):
Having Bearcats once the Bengals just really rum the weekend
for me, Tony, I want to say I listened to
the second half on.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
The radio the Bearcats game.

Speaker 2 (40:35):
You did a great job being up there with Dan
Horde and.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Want to know what you like, better be on the
sideline or up in the food They get a great
future not being up there.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
Also, thank you for also getting those dhite Yakam tickets.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
Take care no listen that I enjoy the sideline because
you're you're right in the middle of all the action.
But from a viewpoint standpoint and being able to see point,
being able to see defensive rotations and what they're doing
in the back end from my watching opportunity, I like
it better than the booth a viewpoints standpoint.

Speaker 34 (41:10):
So as crappy as the Bengals are, we're still two
and three, a game ahead of the Ravens and the
Browns only a game behind the mid Steelers. We need
a new quarterback that can maybe keep us a flat
for two months burrow and win the division. As far
as you see, Bearcats, I was down in that game.

Speaker 5 (41:24):
Tone.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
All I gotta say is that you see football has.

Speaker 3 (41:26):
Turned around ever since they gave you your props and
your flowers.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
Go Bearcats.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Bengals enter today, just one spot. Everybody pumped the brakes
for a second on the cat.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Bengals enter today. Football left ninth place, and they do
hold the tiebreaker over Houston. So Bengals are right on
the outside looking.

Speaker 22 (41:45):
In, still storming the field is poverty.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
Man like you gonna win.

Speaker 32 (41:53):
Sorry for the double dip, but I still think you're
an idiot.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
What's talking here?

Speaker 4 (42:00):
You?

Speaker 2 (42:02):
Thank you? All right? That's your opinion. We all share
opinions here, so thanks for that. Glad we were able
to get that one in right there at the gun.
We'll be back at football.

Speaker 3 (42:12):
In the NATI.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Football intill wrap up our two, and then I'm gonna
head North Twin Peaks in Westchester. Austin will have our
number three.

Speaker 3 (42:19):
And oh boy, I can't wait to get with Mo
this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Hear what he's gotta say. All still ahead, ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 33 (42:30):
In the NATI shuts you in part by blood Light
and by Oakley Greens on ESPN fifteen thirty, the official
home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Yes, that's right, it's football in the NATTI. It's our
number two, thanks to our friends at Cincy Shirts. Let's
run through a couple of these games on the college
slate that happened on Saturday. The It wasn't a ton
of marquee games Austin. We we've talked to uc Iowa State.
I think one that you and I discussed a little
bit off air and other impressive performance by the defense

(43:02):
at Ohio State. Also the offense figuring things out forty
two points on the board against Minnesota. They routed PJ. Fleck.
That is a team in the Buckeyes getting better.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
Ohio State has a really nasty running back group right
now with about three dudes that can play in a
home run hitter and a guy by the name of
Bo Jackson no relation, but his name is Bo Jackson
and he's a beast. And Carnell Tait showed up this week,
which was big. Julian Sayan continues to get better at

(43:35):
Jeremiah Smith still exists. I mean, I think the only
time Ohio State ever gives up points is on the
opening drive, and once Matt Patricia adjusts.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
It's yeah. Klintcrisch has been really good. Penn State goes
on the road to Ucla usually on the season, had
lost at home forty three to ten against Utah. They
went to UNLV and lost thirty to twenty three. They
lost at home to New Mexico thirty five to ten.

(44:03):
They lost on the road at Northwestern. They were zero
four and not only on four, they were one of
the worst teams in the country. Penn State, who was
ranked second to start the year coming off of lost
to Oregon, gives up forty two to Ucla and loses.
It has to be one of the biggest and worst
losses in recent memory in.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
College football without a doubt, and doing so with the
coaching staff. I think that's incomplete. At UCLA. I believe
Deshaun Foster either got fired or walked away earlier this year,
Jerry Neuheisel was the new offensive coordinator, first time he's
ever called place for UCLA, and he puts up forty
two on Jim Knowles. Ahuh, Jim Knowles, that trader. It

(44:43):
was twenty four and a half was the spread? Put
up forty two on Jim Noles defense out there in
front of about seventy five people at UCLA.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
Man, the good news is we won't have to hear
about arch Manning anymore this year. What they fought a
three and two? Oh, they went to the swamp. Arch
Manning wasn't good. Florida eats Texas twenty nine, twenty one,
I said on Friday, Alabama with drag Vanderbilt out to
deep water. They did just that. Diego Pavia. If you're
gonna be practicing taking a knee and throwing the ball

(45:12):
in the air before the game, you better win the game.
Bad luck, bad loss. I think Texas Tech right now
is the best team in the Big twelve they routed Houston,
Kentucky routed by Georgia thirty five to fourteen. Hey, Wisconsin
kept it kind of close against Michigan. That's cool, you know.
Luke Fickle decided not to take time outs at the

(45:32):
end of the game, down fourteen. Michigan wins twenty four
to ten. Wisconsin's winless in the Big Ten. Notre Dame
took care of boys. The Illinois hung a big number
on Purdue in Virginia, even though they were ranked on
the road, they were a six and a half point underdog.
They'd beat Louisville in overtime and in mactionin the Miami
RedHawks winners over Northern Illinois. That gets you up to

(45:56):
speed on everything that happened in Week six, Very very early.
Look ahead, Ohio State on the road at seventeenth ranked
Illinois this week.

Speaker 3 (46:04):
That's a big one. Yeah, I'm gonna miss it. Yeah,
how about that. I'll be in the bowels of lambeau Field.
You're gonna be on Saturday night. You're gonna be on
Saturday You're gonna be in the bows of Lambo. What
are you doing tour in the stadium? Wow, that's pretty cool. Yeah,
you got other plans at Lambo. Yeah, meeting up with folks.

(46:26):
Your buddy Glenn. I'm gonna meet with Glenn.

Speaker 2 (46:29):
Yeah. Do we know anyone else going to the game.

Speaker 3 (46:31):
I've forgotten a few messages from people that are going.
Our producer, Joe Waddell, Oh is going nice. I believe
Jeff and Virginia will be there at the Jeff Man.
Who else? I know somebody else? Gosh, I know somebody
else that's going. I can't think of.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
Well, Glenn's good people man. He'll take care of you
out there. I googled Glenn. His story and his life
is a fascinating He's a fascinating man. I'm excited to
hang out with. Make sure you asked Glenn this week.
He had a big fantasy football matchup against me. Ask
him how that went.

Speaker 6 (47:02):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (47:02):
Oh, I think Glenn might have put up like fifty
