Speaker 1 (00:00):
On ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's sports station.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's time for Cincy three sixty Quick Hits on ESPN
fifteen thirty.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Yes, indeed it is and pleasure to be joined now
for quick Hits by my friend Chad Brindle, who's in
for Moegar this afternoon from three to six.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Hi Chad, how are you. It's a long day today,
long day? Yeah, up early, out to Camp higher Ground.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Uh huh.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Covered practice this morning, right, had lunch yes, the esteemed
camphire Ground cafeteria.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Then straight here to do radio for Moegar, and then
tonight BC the BBP the Bearcat Bounce Podcast with Bearcat's
color analysts Jim Kelly. Oh to talk to some some camps. Okay, well,
sixteen hour day. Yeah, I'm very familiar. I did it
all weekend.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
I was impressed with every Every time I was in
my car, it felt like you were on the radio.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
It's one of those weekends. I used to do that
a lot. Thankfully I don't do it as much anymore.
But what do you got coming up on the show
this after the hit? A little bit of everything I've got.
I've got Richard Skinner, so Tony and Skinny from.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
They could they could.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Uh. And then Clay Snowden from Just Baseball to to
talk a little Reds and.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Liking a lot of Clay's tweets this weekend.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
That's very good.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
He's good.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Uh. And then uh, Kegan Nicholson and I are gonna
we're gonna talk some some ucy camp uh. And then
a fear I've got a growing fear I have with
the Reds. Okay, interesting looking around the division. Look, they
are they are a word, the Brewers. They have to
call the Brewers Daddy. Yes, they're a long way from
catching Milwaukee, very long.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
If you look at a lot of ways, look.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
At Pittsburgh, you could argue pretty easily that despite this
recent losing streak, that Pittsburgh has a brighter path forward.
Saint Louis until proven otherwise, Is and the US are
kind of right there as well. So like this this
golden era of Reds baseball that we're expecting to come

(02:07):
from this group right now, they're like fourth or fifth
in terms of hope in the division.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
And that's a concern.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Yeah. I think you look at the Cubs and you
be like, Okay, well, the Reds are more talented than
the Cubs. But the Cubs have the deepest pockets of
anybody in the division, right and they're not afraid to spend.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
And they're starting pitching is every bit as good as
the Reds. So like that one advantage that you would
think the Reds have they don't really have over the Cubs.
So it's it's somber to really like when you start
digging into it and you start thinking, like what's the
path forward for this group that a year ago we
were all like, oh, man, like they're gonna they're gonna

(02:45):
do some big things, and now it's like, are they
ever going to like win a division in this window?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
So it doesn't feel like it, right.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, I totally understand that we've been a little caught
up with the Bengals over the last few days. You've
been out at higher ground, though, what do Bearcats fans
need to know about the last few days of practices
at higher Ground? How are the Bearcats?

Speaker 1 (03:07):
The defense is playing well, which was a major concern
after watching a dreadful defense last season that couldn't stop
the run or the pass, and usually that that's not
a great recipe to win football games. Yeah, So They've
done a really good job adding to the speed, the length,

(03:29):
the athleticism of this team. I still have some concerns
up front. Stopping the run in a league where you know,
there's like eight thousand yard backs returning in the Big
twelve pretty good. It's crazy you think of the Big
twelve as like a passing league, right, well it is.
It is now morphed into a power rushing league.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
So that's a concern.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And the other offense, obviously, Brendan Sorosby looks really good
so far throughout camp. That could alleviate they were I mean,
it's hard to believe Austin they were a top ten
rushing attack in the country last year. They were number
six in the country and rushing, what would it look
like even with a little bit better passing game? Right

(04:13):
So you know, that's that's so far been a highlight
of camp.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Has the biggest end over end difference for you been
the fact that they're faster, have more athleticism, depth, depth.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Depth is that was the biggest like there was you know,
they had two or three corners and they weren't very good.
They didn't play very well. There's nobody to to bring
them in you know, like Jack Dingle, who was there,
you know, one of their starting linebackers last year, really
good at the end of the year or beginning of
the year. By the end of the year, he was
so beat up that he was ineffective. They didn't have

(04:46):
anybody to say, let's let's get Jack to forty snaps
a game. Instead, it's like you're at eighty snaps a game. Yeah,
and that's hard to do. So safety, linebacker, tight end,
wide receiver, running back, like a across the board, there
is a lot more usable Big twelve level talent and

(05:07):
depth across the roster.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Did you watch the gold medal game between the United
States and France?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (05:12):
Is Steph Curry the best shooter that's ever walked the
face ever?

Speaker 4 (05:15):
It's not close. Isn't that amazing?

Speaker 1 (05:17):
It's I mean that last one, Like he's the only
person in the world that you don't freak.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Out when he takes that shot.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
You expect it to go in.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
I mean watching and it had that high like it's.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Not like it when it came back down here like
fourteen seconds and then it just got like it was
He's so unbelievable and it's so calculated and specific some
of those pump fakes into like a one step relocation
to give himself some clearance.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I thought it was great. Mike Turco asked him like afterwards,
He's like, when you're a Nike on a heater like that,
Like what are you doing? Like how do you get
into that? And he said control, like keeping yourself under
control so much. And I don't know that there's ever
been a player with a pregame routine more talked about
than stuff shots. This is crazy shots like that every game. Yeah,

(06:14):
it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
I mean he is. I don't know that we'll ever
see another guy like him.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Yeah, I mean, you know, evolution of the game, and
I'm sure now that people see what he's been able
to do with shooting. There's a lot more shooting as
a skill that has developed through the game, but his
ability to do it just snap of a finger and
turn it on is it's remarked. I mean, you know,
I'm a basketball guy, right, it's I've spent most of

(06:42):
my professional year, like in a career in a basketball gym,
and seeing what he does is unlike anybody I've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah, I think in terms of like impact on the
game of basketball, when it's all said and done, Steph
will be towards the top. Like Alan Iverson had a
huge impact on the way the game was played. Steph
obviously to the point. I don't know if, like I
don't know if Lebron was ever at that level of
like changing the game, especially from the professional ranks all

(07:10):
the way down to youth basketball.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
There's like with Lebron and Katie, there's a difference. There's
a physical difference.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, people aren't like that.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Lebron is six eight, six nine and eighty pounds and
it's still driving to the rim, like like nobody can
aspire to that. Kevin Durant is a seven foot alien
that it was put on.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
The world to score. Steph is like six to.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Two, is like one hundred and eighty pounds, soaking wet,
like he's one of us. Yeah, and he does things
that are just incredible. What what a what an end
because it looked like they were going to be dead
in the water.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
And that for Steph personally, is like really been his
only chance play in the Olympics and to have a
performance like that when it mattered most is awesome.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
You're overall, I thought NBC did an awesome job they did. Olympics.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
They did.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
I thought every venue would seemed like there was. The
broadcast crew was quality, they were knowledgeable. If you didn't
know the sport, they did a good job bringing you
up to speed. And then then Snoop was there. Snoop
was all over the place.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
And I think NBC found their number one basketball team
for the NBA when that starts with Noah Equal and
d Wade, Yeah, d wait was really good, fantastic, the
entire really good. Let's get to Locks of the Night.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Hey, degenerates, it's time for Lots of the Night presented
by Cincy Shirts. Visit the stores in Hyde Park, Lovelin
aor on Dixie Highway in Fort Mitchell and always online
at Sincy shirts dot com.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Now let's make you some money. Uh, do you have
any Locks of the Night tonight?

Speaker 4 (08:46):
Chat?

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Uh? I'm gonna bet against the Chicago White Sox.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Okay, see, I'm betting on the Chicago White Sox against
The reason for it is because you cannot stray away
from the home dog strategy.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
You can't, and it is the White Sox.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
This is one of the biggest lines we've seen.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Did you hear the lines?

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Plus two sixty five are the White Sox.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
They were talking this morning on the Morning Show on ESPN.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yes, will the second worst team double the win total
of the Chicago White Sox And it is possible.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yes, it absolutely, it's definitely going to happen. Home dogs tonight,
the Chicago White Sox.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Team just money on fire.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds all home dogs tonight. And
also this morning, U Chad I put money on Jackson
Merrill plus five hundred or plus three fifty to be
the National League Rookie of the Year over Paul Skeins.
Jackson Merrill is having a fantastic, fantastic season.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
Skeens is the best pitcher in the sport.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Well, you know, I was just reading some stuff and
people are saying, Jackson Merrill's good value. You like the value,
you like the value and plus three to fifty. But
betting on the White Sox is catching money on fire.
I don't necessarily disagree with that, but you never know.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
But it's not like if they spotted you, like, if
you could you could get runs. That's not really how
betting on baseball works, right, Like you can't. I'm taking
the Yankees and I'm or I'm taking the White Sox
and I'm getting six runs.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, I don't know what the run line is. It's
probably not good. Whatever it is. The over under there
is only like nine. It's one and a half over
under of nine. All right, I would take the over.
We're out of time, Chad, Thank you so much, Thank you.
We'll do it all again tomorrow. He's Chad run All
on Austin Elmore. Tony back tomorrow as well. Tony All
afternoon from Bengals training camp. This is ESPN fifteen thirty.

(10:42):
Thank you so much for listening to Sincy three to sixty.
Chad Brindle is next. In today's Marketers Report, Erica Taylor,
chief marketing officer of Genintech, weighs in on audio's ability
to reach any audience.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Everyone is listening somewhere somehow, so it's a great way
to take something very precise.
