Let's go. He's James for Painbergthe Lockdown Bengals podcast on the Lockdown Podcast

And we're into our first of severalDraft day reaction episodes here and today's
up so brought to you by LinkedInJobs, who helps you find the qualified
candidates you want to talk too fast. You can post your job for free
at LinkedIn dot com, slash lockedon NFL, and the Cincinnati Bengals have
finally invested in a young, athletic, huge premium offensive line talent in Amarius
(01:21):
Mims. A Marius Mems. Wasthere a pronunciation correction that I saw circulating
among the beat writers, James, that's fine. Amrius Mims. It is
he's the right guy, and he'sthe guy that we spent a lot of
time talking about for a bunch ofreasons, Jake. Maybe it's the fact
that he's nearly six' eight, the fact that he's three forty, and
(01:42):
Zach Taylor said filled up his doorwayof his office when he came in for
the visit. Whatever the case is. Look, I think the Bengals were
really comfortable with him, with theplayer, with his the track record,
which is just not long. Hemade eight career Star arts, and people
are going to see that and they'regoing to say a bunch of stuff from
(02:02):
project to oh my god, Ican't believe this and all of these things.
To me, it comes down tothis, Jake. This was one
of these high end offensive tackle draftsand the Bengals looked at it and they
said, if we can get oneof these high end guys that has a
really high ceiling, we need todo it. And that's what a Marius
(02:23):
Mims is. That's going to takesome time for me to get used to
as well, but that's what Mimsis and it isn't the safe Oh my
god, he's going to be finefor ten years. Like Billy Price was.
It doesn't feel as safe as evenJonah did at eleventh overall, and
obviously those guys had risks because therewere flaws. So the flaw with Mims
is he's inexperienced, but he hasthe measurables and they're really comfortable with him
(02:43):
in pass protection. That's something thatI asked Dan Pitcher about, I asked
Zach Taylor about, and they likewhat they see there, and obviously that's
what we're hoping to see from whateverright tackle they bring, in, whatever
offensive lineman they bring, and howare they in pass protection. They're comfortable
with Mims and think that he's goingto be a big part of their future
clearly. And that is the strengthof his game right now coming out of
(03:06):
Georgia. He needs some work inthe run game of all things. Despite
how big and powerful he is,and he tested with great speed, especially
for a guy this is a massiveas he is. He tested with good
jumps, especially if you believe asI do, that his vertical jump in
training was much better than what heshowed at the combine. Just judging from
Duke many weathers tweet about it wherehe who trained a Marius Man's Marius Men's
that his vertical must have been anerror because it looked to be so much
(03:30):
lower than what many weather expected. But when you have a guy like that,
you expect them to be able tomove people. And at some point
you would hope that a Marius meansMarius Fins is able to develop that part
of his game as well, becauseyou do need to be a good run
blocker to be a complete tackle inthe NFL. But the strength to his
game, despite the inexperience coming outis in my opinion, a pretty good
(03:51):
set of developed feet. In termsof past protection, the past sets look
clean, they look good. He'svery aware of what's going on and how
opposing defenses are trying to attack yourprotection schemes and trying to make you deal
with conflict as an offensive lineman wherethe threats are coming from. Good processing
speed, good ability to react tostunts. This is something that I think
(04:14):
Mike talked about as well. BengalSans talked about in terms of his ability
to process stunts and pressures and getto them quickly. The only issue,
well, I guess there's two.I've seen two major criticisms, James,
what is the inexperience. There's somepeople out there that straight think that a
Marius Man's and marius Man sorry,is a bust that he's Cedric bay He
two point zero. We'll talk aboutwhy I don't personally believe that. I
(04:35):
know you don't either, James. We've talked about that on this podcast before.
And the other one is that there'sno clear path for him to make
the team better right away. Peoplestill expect expect, and I think probably
rightly so, although I think therewill be a competition that Trent Brown will
win the starting job out of camp, but just looking at that particular part
(04:56):
of it before we continue to discussa players a situation where at some point
Men's could win that starting job inseason and then just never give it back
if he has an opportunity to takeit for sure. And guess what,
they didn't have a backup tackle likethey did not and people are gonna say,
oh, well, I don't wanthim to be a backup. It's
pretty damn valuable because both deep playoffrunts, they've had backup tackles so that
(05:20):
they had to start in games. So at the very minimum. That's what
he is this year, and he'sprobably gonna have to be more. We've
talked about Trent Brown's injury history, and injuries do happen. We do know
that he's going to learn both tacklespots, which I think is valuable.
Zach Taylor also didn't completely dismiss theidea of him learning guard potentially playing guard.
(05:41):
He was asked about the versatility there, and he didn't say one way
or the another, one way oranother, probably because he wants to talk
to a marius about that first beforehe makes that decision or tells us that
decision that he wants to put himinside, if that's the case as a
rookie. So you're talking about anelite athlete with superhuman size that was injured
(06:08):
in Georgia during his year that hestarted. His first career start was in
the College Football Playoff against the higheststate. His second career start was in
the National Championship game against TCU.Obviously, Georgia won both games, and
so he's played in big games,He's played on big stages. He played
in the SEC. He was playingagainst high end players and playing behind high
end players at Georgia NFL guys, which is why he didn't start his first
(06:32):
two seasons or most of his firsttwo seasons, So you can kind of
explain the why. And I thinkthis is a big swing, and it's
the big swing you take here, like it makes so much sense to me,
Like who who should they have taken? When you look at who was
off the board? I would bekind of annoyed if they take Troy Failutanu
(06:56):
over a Marius Mims because Mims' ceilingis just that to me, much higher.
And I think if you talk toprobably anyone in the NFL, they
would feel that way. And sowhy wouldn't you go with this guy,
especially if you are comfortable with whathe did put out there on film,
and that's what Dan Pitcher said multipletimes, how comfortable they were he did
(07:17):
show in those starts. And soif he checks all the boxes, but
a couple of games and it's twelvestarts instead of six or instead eight,
excuse me, then we're having adifferent conversation. Aren't we a top ten
pick conversation? So he's there ateighteen. I really liked the pick,
And obviously there are going to bepeople that haven't listened to the pod that
are listening to this one. We'vebeen discussing Amarius Mims on and off for
(07:41):
months now. Mims was the pickin the final Predictive mock as well.
We talked about some other targets there. Most of those targets were picked.
Biran Murphy got close, didn't makeit to them. Brock Bauers got close,
didn't make it to them. TallyI Flaga got close, didn't make
it too them. Jac Latham wentmuch earlier, Olufu fashion Hu made it
(08:03):
to the tens but didn't get tothem. So all the other players that
we talked about that we thought theBengals coveted didn't make it there. And
six quarterbacks went before the Bengals picked, but no corners did, and only
one edge rusher if I recall correctly, Dallas Turner going one pick before the
Bengals with Minnesota trading up. Sothe instant impact is something that we will
(08:24):
have to discuss for sure. Butthe upside here is a kind of picked
the Bengals I guess they've they've maderecently, but don't often go for the
high ceiling and questionable floor. Obviously, they don't feel like there's a questionable
floor for mems. They think veryhighly of his tape, and you go
(08:45):
watch at Ohio State game and I'vejust downloaded the film for that game,
his first start that I'm excited toget into. And he quitted himself impressively
against a good Ohio State defensive linein that game. So excited to watch
that and get a better feel forhow that game went. It was hard
to find tape for him, I'lladmit that because the games that were available
to me for George's offensive line,he didn't play because of those miss injuries,
(09:07):
miss games with injury unfortunately. Sothe questions are, you know,
the injury, the inexperience, thehow does he help you right away?
If there's openness to playing him atguard, I find that to be fascinating.
But he was the last true firstround pure tackle available in this class
YEP, no matter how I thinkyour rankings go. Maybe maybe some of
(09:30):
you have some disagreement with that claim, but with the traits that he offers
and the ability that he did showin that limited experience, for me,
there was a sense of relief withthe pick James. I was glad that
given what I thought they would dothere that was the pick, especially since
I saw Tyler Guiton get floated prettyclose before the Bengals picked, and I
(09:52):
had a little panic moment where Ithought maybe Tyler Geyiton would be the pick
a little prematurely in my opinion there, but Men's offers incredible upside. We
will continue to break down the pickand why it could have been the right
selection, although there were some playersthat we've talked about a lot and said
that we'd like a lot that we'rein consideration as well. Coming up next.

a stud offensive tackle, at leastthat's what they're hoping in Amrius Mims and
Jake This is sort of unique, certainly to the Joe Burrow era. They
(12:28):
haven't drafted an offensive tackle ahead ofwhat the Pick forty six with Jackson Carmen,
but that year they picked him andit was to move him to guard.
This is the first time that they'vetaken a tackle to be a tackle,
and who knows, maybe he doestry to play. They kick him
inside him to try to get himon the field. But young, athletic,
clearly roomed to grow, but fitsthe mold. Like if you told
(12:52):
me Amarus Mims is a top tenright tackle in two years in the NFL,
I don't think that would shock me. I don't think that would shock
the Bengals and top ten. I'mnot going to go crazy here and say
top five or top two, butI think that's what we're we're talking about
with him. Where expectations are.We expect him to be a special special
(13:15):
player for Joe Burrow, and whoknows, maybe he is there. They're
Willie Anderson, They're Andrew Whitworth, their next guy in their their long line
of offensive tackles that have been starshere in Cincinnati. Yeah, and that's
on the list of things when youtalk about what you'd like about the pick
is it's a home run swing. It's a kind of swing that, like
I said, we don't typically seethe Bengals do. They're trying to just
(13:37):
not strike out, which sometimes leadsto striking out. But you saw it
last year with Miles Murphy for example, where they have this athletic traitsy edge
rusher similar idea here except a MariusMen's might be more developed already from a
refinement perspective coming into the league, and obviously the ind experience is something that
we'll have to continue to talk about. But the ability to draft a massive
(14:01):
what six seven three forty six seventhree thirty six inch arms and what do
we see about him? One ofthe lowest body fat percentages on the UGA
team at that size and when yousee the picture of him at the combine,
I believe it he's not carrying abad wait. That dude is rocked
(14:22):
up. He's all muscle, andwhen you have that level of physical build
to go with pretty good tape,as we've talked about with Mike Renner throughout
this process, we talked to JoeGidberry about a Marius Men's as well.
At some point, I'm sure whenyou have all those things together, it
(14:43):
feels good to have that kind ofupside. And that is the exciting part
about this pick, I think forthe Bengals because they haven't had this level
of athleticism on the offensive line.Frank Pollock has never had this kind of
ball of clay. Not that he'sexactly a ball of clay, he's mostly
sculpt at this point, but hehasn't had this level of talent to work
with on his offensive line in Cincinnatiever. And so go back to when
(15:09):
he had Tyrone Smith in Dallas, and I know he didn't necessarily have to
develop Tyrone Smith, but it's thatlevel of athleticism that you potentially have with
Mems and that is why it's veryexciting. The opportunity to draft that kind
of player at offensive tackle is rare, and to do it at eighteen is
(15:30):
even rare. This is where thatgreat offensive tackle class really helps the Bengals.
The extra quarterbacks being picked in Pennixand Bonix before the Bengals pick really
helps the Bengals out here. Nocornerbacks going before allows them to pick a
tackle that most years probably goes earlier, and if you played a little bit
more in college, almost certainly goesmuch earlier than he did tonight. For
(15:54):
sure, he goes way earlier.I think that's that's the element that people
really need to to think about,is if a Marius Mims just plays I
don't know, six games as afreshman and then then starts the final six
games and then plays in the collegefootball Playoff or six games going into the
(16:14):
college football Playoff as a sophomore andthen has what he did this year and
he's at thirteen starts or fourteen starts. We're talking about a top eight guy,
a top six guy. Maybe we'retalking to Brian Callahan and Tennessee about
how a Marius Mims is there?Like that wouldn't shock me, It really
wouldn't. And I think that's that'ssomething we should hit home because for years
(16:36):
we've talked about what protecting Joe Burrow, keeping Joe Burrow upright? And so
the Bengals go, get this guywho's inexperienced but has all of the traits
to be the next great Bengals offensivelineman, all of them. And you're
worried about how many games you playedin college. I don't care, really,
I really don't. What is hegoing to be now and what is
(16:56):
he going to be two years fromnow and three years from now? And
he's nothing like really anyone that they'vedrafted that I can remember, And that
includes the Cedrica way He Jake Fisherdraft, that includes a lot of these
drafts. Because the fan base isalready so torn on him, even though
we've talked about him a ton.I feel like a lot of people have,
(17:17):
and the Bengals, it's really easyto see why they like him and
why he's going to fit, andwhy he fits right now with a Trent
Brown and an Orlando Brown junior, and why long term he could be that
guy alongside Orlando Brown Junior. SoI really hesitate to criticize it now.
It might not work all right, but I remember thinking, oh well,
(17:38):
Billy Price was a sure thing.I remember thinking on Draft night all of
these different scenarios when they get theseguys, and so to me, this
is worth the swing. This guyis someone that you take the risk because
the reward is so much greater. And we a couple things. One,
I want to talk about the comparisonsto Jake Fischer surgical way he too.
(18:02):
I want to talk about the FrankPollack element here. This is a for
everyone who wants to talk about.Frank Pollack has never developed an offensive lineman.
He's never had a guy that's thistalented to work with. So if
you're looking for a real Frank Pollack, Litmus says, there are no excuses
after this one if MEMS doesn't workout and doesn't develop into the player we
think he can be if he doesn'thit at least some measure of that upside
(18:23):
and become a good player, becomea good starter. But the idea that
they shouldn't take an offensive lineman becausePollock has never developed one, I mean
they've got to give him something towork with at some point for one and
two, that you can't just notpick offensive lineman because you don't think your
(18:47):
offensive line coach can develop them. What are we doing? I mean they've
needed this injection of a cornerstone playeron that offensive line unit, a cost
controlled, drafted, homegrown player thatmems could be for years. And just
because it's not necessarily an immediate starterdoesn't make it a bad pick. And
we'll talk about who they passed on, and we'll talk about these comparisons and
(19:08):
why I disagree with the comparisons toboy he and Fisher and name a tackle
are they're ridiculous. Not only bronI don't know William whoever you want to
pick, but the boy he compin this draft was Tyler Guiton. That's
who it was. And he wentto the Cowboys at twenty nine. So
you don't have to worry about thathere? So yeah, how about that
(19:30):
one? I like it better therethat I like it in Cincinnati. It's
great. I love the pick.I love it talking about Tyler guit In
a ton I am too. Andand that's that's what I think. It's
hard to process. Is a boyhe wasn't merely as rare Amarus Mims is
a is extremely hard. Let's breakthat down, all right, let's do
(19:56):
that. Coming up next, today'sshow is brought to you by Monopoly Go.
I've been told I'm a competitive person, and Jake, well he knows
that that's true. So yeah, you know I have a competitive side.
We all do. And that's whyI'm a big fan of Monopoly Go.
I'm sure you've heard of it.It's the most downloaded game. In fact,
it's been downloaded over one hundred andfifty million times. It's a great
(20:17):
twist on Monopoly where you play onnot one, but hundreds of Monopoly boards
and crazy locations, building up amazingcities that bring you big money, and
you can charge your friends rent oniconic properties just like classic Monopoly, and
leaderboards show who the biggest Monopoly tycoonis. So it's not just my competitive

of them. You can also teamup with your friends if you want to
go that route in time tournaments. So get in the game and join your

Philip has just lost the respect ofthe youth league football team he coaches.
He was asked what New England shoulddo in the draft and his answer was
(21:02):
objectively terrible. The Athletic just wrotea great article about this, but Philip
doesn't have the athletic or the respectof a boisterous group of eleven year olds
who once looked up to him.Learn from Philip's error, Get the Athletic
and get the info you need tospeak draft fluently. These comparisons to subject
(21:23):
boy he which is a primary onethat I've seen, drive me a little
bit crazy, or even Billy Priceif if some people want to compare him
in that way, we got anRAS score, which is I guess saying
atm machine. We got an RISfor mems. He did enough testing,
he did the jumps, he didthe forty, We got the way in,
(21:45):
we got the arm length, theway he was coming off an injury.
He didn't test and he probably wasn'tas athletic as mems Mens is a
freak. I mean we're talking aboutvery very rare traits. He's rare,
Like he's rare in a locker roomwith Orlando Brown junior Trent Brown. I
don't think people realize that, Likehe's he does not look like those guys,
(22:07):
Does that make sense, Like they'rethe same height and in similar weights,
but like the way they're built aremuch different. Like he's a different
guy. And again that matters. It matters how you move at that weight.
That's that's different. It's not justgetting off the bus. It's what
you do on the field, andthat helps you play at a high level
(22:27):
on the field. And I thinkthe tape is better too, Like people
can be themselves that the way hewould have been picked higher if he didn't
get hurt and all this stuff,But like we were never there at the
time. On a way it wasa bad pick. At the time,
we went so far as to say, in a justification state of mind that,
oh, well, if they've flippedthe picks and it was Fisher in
(22:48):
the first round and the way hein the second round, it would have
been fine, and maybe it wouldhave been and maybe Fisher would have worked
out if he didn't have the issueswith this heart that he had, and
that was very unfortunate. You neverknow what would have happened. But I
don't think that Men's should be seenas the same as any player really that
the Bengals have drafted before, becausehe does have a pretty unique profile.
(23:11):
As far as any Cincinnati Bengal offensivelineman that I can think of, there
is no comp That's that's why youtake him because he's a freak. He's
a freak, and you you wantthe freaks and you try to get as
many of them as you can.And it was he my number one offensive
lineman. No, but he wasup there. He was third on my
(23:34):
list of who I wanted tonight fora reason. And so I'm really high
on this pick. And again theBay he stuffed that that's like, man,
it didn't work out with the girlin college, and this girl has
the same job, and so it'sgoing to be this like they're just so
different, Like there's no Georgia versuswhere's a boy he coming out of a
(23:59):
and m yeah, all right,so there alone Georgia versus A and M
is completely different. You're talking abouta football powerhouse in Georgia, the best
football program over the past five years, easily and so, and people are
going to get mad at that, but it's true and so at least when
he was there, it is andso that alone. But the physical traits,
all of the tools and the otherpart of this everyone talks about.
(24:23):
And this is why I want togo back to what Dan Pitcher said,
because I asked him, have youever evaluated a prospect with this little tape?
And how hard is it to doso? But usually, like when
you see the potential for greatness inathletes, it usually doesn't take like eight
trillion hours, Like talk to anyonethat's evaluating, like, it doesn't take
(24:47):
that long. Now, maybe thereare diamonds in the rough that get uncovered
or that you get more information andthen you go back and revisit it.
There's more information. I'm not sayingthat. I'm not saying you only need
to watch guys for ten minutes andyou know, but you can kind of
see if they got it or notpretty quickly in a lot of industries,
including football, and so I thinka Marius Mims has it now. Does
he need to work on some stuff, absolutely, But this idea that they're
(25:11):
drafting this guy who was a projectcoming off of a torn acl coming from
am M and no, no,no, it is nothing like Cea Kabwayhi.
And that's it's a joke that peopleare going to say that, and
they're still going to we won't beable to stop them. But there is
no comp for that, like itis the worst comp There are risks to
(25:32):
this profile. So let's make surewe're not downplaying that too much. But
yeah, he's not, He's nota way he No, that wasn't those
were related thoughts. I was justI just wanted to make sure we do
pay proper heed to the risks inhis profile. Only forty true pass that's
at Georgia in his career. Thatis one of the lowest numbers in this
(25:53):
draft class. So how's he goingto fair in a drop back passing offense?
And where we're really fond of hispass sets and his footwork and his
hand strength in pass protection, whilehe still maybe needs a little bit of
experience in true pass sets to developthat part of his game and do that
a little bit more, and dothat more consistently. So there is risk
(26:17):
with inexperience, there's risk with anylevel of translation for a player like this
going to the NFL. But Mariusmen is getting picked in the first round
even if the Bengals didn't do it, and that's because he's good or at
least had good college tape, anddespite the eight hundred and three snaps,
the quality of the tape, combinedwith the physical traits make him a no
(26:41):
brainer for a team in the firstround. Now, who did the Bengals
pass on to make this pick? When you look at who is on the
board going immediately after were Jared Verse, Troytanu, Chop Robinson, Quinyon Mitchell,
Brian Thomas, Junior Terry and Arnold, And those are all players that
we talk about at some point aspotential Cincinnati Bengals targets in this draft.
(27:04):
Not as deeply on Jared Verse, but he came up as a type of
addresser the Bengals might like if hewere available. But I know that they're
Bengals fans that are looking at thisand thinking, well, maybe quinnya Mitchell,
or Kry and Arnold or even BrianThomas or certainly Johnny Newton could have
come in and addressed a bigger need, immediate need right away. And maybe
(27:25):
you don't see a'm Marius Mams asfilling an immediate need, And maybe you're
upset that, you know, theBengals didn't get a guy that's going to
be able to make a huge, you know, elevation to a part of
the roster in your run. Andwe'll see what happens, right, We'll
never know today how all this isgoing to pan out. But what are
your thoughts on the players they passedhere to take Mims? Yeah, I
(27:49):
think the only one that I wouldconsider is potentially Queenyon Mitchell. And it's
because I think he is one ofthose true number one cornerbacks and felt that
way coming in. But even onmy board, like and I released,
like my board, I go witha Marius Mims. And it's because what's
more important, Like, let's sayboth hit what would you rather have a
(28:11):
star offensive tackle? Whatever side heends up playing, it's going to be
right early, of course, butstar right tackle or the star corner both
really really valuable. But I wouldgo with offensive tackle. And and this
is where I keep going back withMims. His ceiling is higher than all
those guys, including I'm a widereceiver guy, Brian Thomas Junior, and
(28:33):
so it's it was pretty simple tome. We knew where they were going.
Filutano was in the running for surefor them, and I think that
was it. I mean I hadthree so I had three articles written for
Si and I had him done,I'd say by pick fifteen or so.
Once Brock went off, you couldkind of see how it was going.
(28:57):
It was a Marius Mims, Troyfive Otanu just in case Mims got picked,
and Byron Murphy. Those were thethree. I never had a Quinnion
Mitchell written, never had a terryOn Arnold written because those because those guys,
and I'm doing it as the draftis going, so I know who's
off the board. I would havewritten way more. Otherwise I'm trying to
save myself time. But no,I have no problem going the way they
(29:19):
did. Now, if they wouldhave considered a trade back, would it
have worked. Maybe they also couldhave missed out on those linemen. And
because the Steelers were taking one ofthem and they might have taken Mems,
they were in on Mems. Iheard they liked him, so I don't
think Mems was gonna fall much farther. No. I think that they got
Mems about where he should have beenpicked given his inexperience. But in most
(29:42):
years you don't get a guy likethat there. And like I said,
the quarterback picks instead of cornerback picksearly did help to push some guys down
the board. But what a crazyrun of offensive players at the start of
this draft. What if we getto fourteen players before the first defensive player
was picked, and then Bira Murphyand Dallas Turner in three straight picks before
(30:07):
the Bengals took it back to theoffensive side of the ball. That was
pretty nuts to watch. But it'sa good feeling to know that the Bengals
have finally invested in an athletic, young, high upside offensive lineman. These
guys with this kind of measurable profilehave a pretty good hit rate. We
never know what will happen. Iwould have also been totally fine with quinnyon
(30:30):
Mitchell or Johnny Newton here. Butone thing that became very clear to me
as we were working through our finalpredictive mocks and our what will we do
mocks and all this stuff as We'rewatching the NFL Draft Round one wrap up
here and we're waiting to see ifJohnny Newton's even going to be picked.
Is if you don't go with theoffensive tackle in the first round, it's
(30:53):
very hard in the second round tofeel confident that you're going to get a
guy that has the kind of profileyou want feel good about for a tackle
class as strong as this. Sowhat do the Bengals do that we like
about this pick? Athletic, highupside offensive lineman. And what do we
always talk about, James. It'sa strong offensive tackle class. Pick an
(31:14):
offensive tackle. They didn't get todo that last year with tight end.
This year they get to do thatwith a position of strength. They get
the last one of a very stronggroup at the top. In my opinion,
still it's the last true first roundgrade to tackle that should have earned
that grade. And so for thosereasons, you like it from a long
term perspective, you like it froma depth perspective, you like it from
(31:37):
your jumbo package now includes a Mariusmems is your third tackle instead of Cody
Ford or something like that sounds goodto me. Man, Having that freak
on the field with your other freaksat tackle for those packages. That sounds
fun in the short term too.So there's a lot to like about the
pick, even if I would havealso liked Newton and Quinna Mitchell quite a
(31:57):
bit as well. Well, it'shard for me to knock them too much
for going with MEM's here, sure, and I like those play Yeah,
Newton's the other one. But it'sso easy to see the path to the
Bengals offensive line crumbling again with injuries. There were one injury away. They
(32:19):
still need to address that offensive linein this draft by getting an interior alignment
that I think can back up allthree. Like, it's still a need
and so filling this offensive tackle role. You're not gonna be able to find
an Amarius Mims at thirty two nextyear, and that's where the Bengals are
trying to draft. And if theylose one of their starting offensive tackles in
Buffalo and then have to go toKansas City like they had to do in
(32:42):
twenty twenty two, well that reallystinks, doesn't it. We've been there,
done that, so it is valuableto have him in the everything we've
said it makes sense. Is ita non risk pick? No, But
the safe picks have been risks.I'll go back to the beginning the pod,
Billy Price was considered one of thesafe picks. No such thing as
(33:02):
safe, man. That's when we'velearned. So take the big swing.
And I'm glad that they took thebig swing tonight. And who knows,
maybe they only hit a double, but it's worth trying to hit that dang
thing out of the park. Andthey might have done it with a Marius
Mimps. And I'll say this again, despite the perceived risks, players with
this athletic profile and build at tackle, you have a pretty good chance considering
(33:24):
his youth. What's his middle likeTrent Brown? Like he becomes Trent Brown.
You know what I'm saying. Like, Okay, okay, you probably
got a pretty good player if hehits the mean outcome for a player with
his profile, Yeah, the averageoutcome. We'll be back with more to
(33:45):

ninth, assuming no trades occur untilthen. Thanks for listening to this episode
