ESPN fifteen thirty. Thanks for listening today. Hope you're having
like the greatest Wednesday of all time. You will hear
(00:29):
from Joe Flacco now here is the true litmus test.
So we're back on like a normal schedule. Because Bengals
play on Sunday. It's a one o'clock game. Joe Flacco
has gotten his bearings and then some. So the quarterback
of the team, whether it's Joe Burrow, Jake Browning or
Joe Flacco during a normal game week, is supposed to
(00:50):
talk at three point fifteen on Wednesday. Now well established.
Joe Burrow never on time, but that's cool because he's
Joe Burrow. Jake Browning never on time. That's not excusable
because if you're gonna be late, at least be good.
Jake Browning was neither good or on time. Joe Flacco
so far, has been good. Today we find out is
(01:10):
he on time for his Wednesday press conference. Assuming he is,
he'll join us at and they're not gonna join us,
You're gonna hear US press conference at three fifteen. Will
carry it for you, Will carry it for you on
ESPN fifteen thirty. I have on my phone the show
preview video, but it's been a busy day so I
haven't had a chance to hit send on it, but
(01:31):
I will durn the next break when I do. Show
preview is gonna be available on Twitter at Mullager thanks
to share Facts Credit Union formally Emery Federal Credit Union
now share Facts, same branches, same great public or, same
great customer service, same great place to become a member
sharefacs Credit Union in about forty five minutes, actually a
(01:52):
little bit more than an hour. Reading time is hard.
We're gonna chat with Chris Albright, the general manager GEORVC Cincinnati,
and today.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
I mean it.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
I said I was gonna have him yesterday. Then I
realized I goofed and wrote down the wrong day. So
he is going to join us at four oh five.
We'll go to Kansas City, Big twelve Media days happening
right now, women's basketball yesterday, men's basketball today. Wes Miller
talked earlier today. You'll hear some of that. Scott Springer's
gonna join us at four to twenty and Danny Canal
talk some college football, some Bearcats, some buck Guys, some
(02:24):
Hoosiers and more coming up at five five. So Joe
Flacco is here and the offense has performed better, and
there's this surge of optimism that I love. It started
with the second half of the Green Bay game and
it continued through the Pittsburgh game. And it's fun, like
(02:45):
to Joe Flacco's story is a fun one. It was
fun in Cleveland two years ago. Dude was on his couch.
Guy shows up, helps get to the team to the postseason.
Joe Flacco being sort of cast aside in Cleveland for
Dylan Gabriel being traded to an intro division rival and
coming to Cincinnati and at least briefly maybe longer, having
(03:07):
a resurgence is terrific. So hopefully it continues. We will see.
But what has to happen for him to help this
team stay in the hunt at least until mid December.
It's going to need some help from the defense. Here's
my question for you throughout the course of the afternoon.
(03:27):
Who's the Joe Flacco of the Bengals defense now? Trey Hendrickson.
Zach Taylor today said is going to be listed as
limited if he practices today at all, called him day
to day. Trey Hendrickson may play and may play well.
Somebody else has to get after the quarterback with some consistency.
(03:48):
Who's it going to be? Is it going to be
Shamar Stewart answer was no on Thursday? Is it going
to be Miles Murphy or Joseph Osai or one of
the interior defensive linemen like there has been. The Bengals
have been on a quest to improve their pass rush
now for a while that quest continues. This defense goes nowhere.
(04:10):
If that doesn't improve, how does it improve? From the
answers within, If it doesn't improve. At the end of
the day, whether it's Joe Flacco or Joe Burrow, isn't
this team's potential limited? That amazing sports talk radio topic
(04:32):
coming up here in just a bit. We have to
break early because we are going to assume that Joe
Flacco will be on time. Assuming he is, you'll hear
him in five and a half minutes on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Kay, why Cincinnati, make us the number one preset on
your car radio and on the Free knew it improved
iHeartRadio ad Free never sounded so good.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
It is three point fifteen. This is ESPN fifteen thirty. Money,
Ames Maegger, thank you for listening. If you missed yesterday,
you could listen to that show.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
It was.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
It was great, It was, it was great. I think
the Marconi Awards were handed out last night. I was
surprised we didn't win, just based on yesterday show. If
you missed it, Paul Danner Junior was terrific. Sean sayed,
Stats and Schemes newsletter was awesome. Boy, I was very good.
You could listen to that show on the iHeartRadio app
podcast of this show our service of Long Neck Sports Grill.
(05:27):
I ain't no better place to watch the Bengals or
anywhere anybody else watch anything, college football, Pro football, the
World Series. You can watch it long next three locations Wilder, Hebron, Richwood.
Each one of them are awesome, Each one of them great, menu,
each one of them. Four KTVs all over the place,
and the sound is always on for the big games.
(05:49):
Joe Flacco is officially one minute late for his press conference,
but as soon as he steps to the podium or
the table, it's more of a table down there what
used to be called Paul Brown Stadium than we'll have
Joe Flack go live for you. As the Bengals he
had set to take on the New York Jets, who,
by the way, the Tyrod Taylor is also being listed
as day to day with a knee issue, and so
(06:12):
I guess to a degree, the question becomes, would you
rather play against Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor? Now, it's
interesting that Justin Fields, as bad as he has been,
it's not like he has thrown a bunch of picks
this year. It's obviously he failed to win football games,
has all sorts of issues both running and throwing, or
at least has this year with the Jets. Tyrod Taylor
though a world of experience. I don't be honest with you,
(06:34):
I don't care what the Bengals are doing defensively. To
me is independent of who the quarterback is. Right. The
inability to get to the quarterback is an issue regardless
of the actual identity of the quarterback, the inability to
tackle and bring ball carriers to the ground independent of
(07:00):
whether it's Tyrod Taylor or justin fields. And like this
sounds negative. We were at Oakley Green's yesterday and someone said,
you know, a little bit of a negative tone, and
I go, absolutely not. Like these things are back on
the table if they had lost to the Steelers. How
they play against the Jets and where the pass rush
comes from is frankly not that relevant. Had they lost
(07:21):
that game to the Steelers, it's are they gonna trade
Trey hendrickson? Are they gonna move on from any number
of players who's gonna get fired? How bad might this get?
How much might the locker room splinter? Should they just
put Joe Burrow on ice and forget having him come
back in December? But they won the game. They won
the game because Jamar Chase is otherworldly and t Higgins
(07:45):
is great, and they ran the ball well and Chase
Brown had a good game, and the offensive line performed
capably and Joe Flacco played very well and so because
of that, the season is back on. The season goes
back off if the defense doesn't get any better. And
(08:05):
this isn't just about like when they play good offenses,
good offenses are going to torch them. Do they make
the Jets better? Joe Flacco's there, Let's go to the table.
Joe Flatco talking with the Assemble Pro Football Media.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
You know, I have a lot of respect for the
way they play the game, and you know, I know
it's I know it's a group that'll come ready to play.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
So I think you're looking at the league for years
supposed to playing ketchups.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
It was nice to have a little like to be
able to breathe a little bit this weekend, and you know,
it feels like I was we were just out in
the practice field and it feels like, you know, I've
barely been there it uh So, Yeah, it's good to
kind of get back in the normal rhythm of a Monday,
Tuesday and now actually going out there in the practice
field on Wednesday, fielding prepared.
Speaker 7 (09:00):
Of a week.
Speaker 8 (09:00):
Do you feel like you're operating the way you want to?
Speaker 9 (09:03):
You know you're not going to get a full training camp,
but how do you feel like you're out there?
Speaker 6 (09:06):
Yes, I mean so far, still learning and trying to
pick up everything and you know, just play as fast
and as smooth as I can and using just the
same I'm going to try to keep my process the same,
you know, and use these walkthroughs and the practices to
get used to calling it and seeing it and you know,
(09:28):
just try to keep keep it at a basic level
and keep going from there.
Speaker 10 (09:34):
So much focus hill on you getting accustomed to your weapons,
running backs obviously, the wide receivers, what about the offensive line.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
What's that.
Speaker 11 (09:44):
You know, getting use to them, playing in front of them, and.
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Like, well, it's been great.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
I mean, I think you can tell that those guys
are a hard work, hard working group. And I think
the biggest thing is for those guys to get comfortable
with each other. And now, you know, the way you
get good at playing with each other is just trust,
you know, trust between everybody. Trust that they're going to
do their job. They have to trust that I'm going
to do my job and get the.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
Ball out and.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
You know, no, you know, maybe know when we're getting
the ball out and quick game, know when we're maybe
dropping a little bit deeper. I think as long as
everybody can do that and trust each other to do
their job and not try to get cute and make
up for something here and make up for something there.
You know, then then we'll grow together and be happy
with it.
Speaker 12 (10:28):
Hey, you guys avoid the obligatory letdown game that comes
after a mini by facing a winless team. How do you,
guys keep the moments from going on offense from what
you had in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (10:40):
Just go out and take every day by itself. Prepare
Wednesday like you always do, Thursday like you always do Friday,
and then ultimately win the football game. A lot of
that stuff is just talk, and you know, you don't
have to answer it unless you don't go out there.
And you know, unless you don't go, you go out
there and don't play well. So it's simple. You can't
(11:02):
worry about what the result is at any point, but
definitely not on Wednesday. He's got to go out there
and prepare, and then on Sunday, same thing. You got
to go play each play and you know, just keep
getting up and doing the same thing over and over
again and having the best play that you can possibly
have in that moment. The results come when you when
(11:22):
you're able to be in the moment and focus on
the task at hands.
Speaker 13 (11:25):
So your offensive line, have you had a chance to
kind of group with the Orlando and just.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
The kind of shaking as as well.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
Here we are again. I don't know you've been able
to have that moment yet or a little bit.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
Yeah, because he's very willing to come up to me
and talk about certain things like that and just kind
of ask me how it's been going in Cincinnati. And yeah, so,
like I think he's probably driven that conversation, but we've
been able to talk a little bit about it.
Speaker 9 (11:52):
You mentioned where the game has struggled for the most
part this year before you got here.
Speaker 8 (11:56):
Suddenly starting to click a little bit and think, which
you've done in.
Speaker 7 (11:58):
The past, game has opened up one game up some
things for you Thursday.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
Night at the Pass game. It's tough to say it's
it's one game.
Speaker 6 (12:07):
I do think the Run Game early on in that, Like,
I think initially the Run Game did spark us that
little that thirty yard run we had and that was
our first scoring drive I believe, and then the next
one we came out and have another little chunk run.
Anytime that you can you know, get some of those
games in the Running Game, Uh, it's going to help
your offense out a lot. So I think in in
Thursday's case, the run game definitely helped us out. But
(12:31):
we just got to you know, like I said, we
got to just continue to work at it and have
faith that you know, we're getting better, and you know,
one game doesn't necessarily indicate what the next is going
to be. And and just like I said before about
you know, the process of it all, I don't think
we can really worry about that.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
I think we just got to continue to.
Speaker 6 (12:50):
Work on getting better and and trust that we're doing
the right things and then on Sundays it'll show up.
Speaker 14 (12:56):
Was the biggest way a quarterback can help a run
game my counter two to think of it that way,
But are there way beyond you obviously talking and running
again that way? You know, what are the biggest ways
quarterbacks can help keep a running game efficient.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
Well complete passes when you get the opportunity to do it,
you know, stay ahead of the stakes, you know of
the sticks. You know, first, first and second down, especially
first down. When you have easy completions and and you
can keep your help self ahead of the sticks, then
it gives you the chance to be multiple and and
not you know, be kind of forced into being one
(13:33):
dimensional because you weren't able to do what you were
supposed to do on early downs. I think that's probably
the biggest thing. Other than that, maybe I would say
just the just the operation of it all. Get into
the line of scrimmage, snap in the ball, having good
rhythm with that.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
What do you remember about your growth?
Speaker 11 (13:48):
When you were talking about the chemistry of yourself and
the offensive line, is there also a thought that it
looks so good in the last six quarters in the
passing game, you and your chemistry or the receivers. Is
there a thought but that it could be even better
in November, even.
Speaker 8 (14:03):
Better in December.
Speaker 11 (14:03):
Can that growth continue with your weapons and yourself.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
And your chemistry.
Speaker 5 (14:08):
I think you're always as a team.
Speaker 6 (14:10):
I think you're always hoping that you're growing as the
season goes goes on, and I think that shows up.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
In different ways.
Speaker 6 (14:17):
It doesn't mean you're gonna go out there and you know,
throw for three hundred fifty yards and.
Speaker 5 (14:21):
Do all that every week.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
But I think as the year goes on, good teams
find a way to get better and better even though
they're you know, doing some things well at the moment.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
So I would hope that you know, we.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
Continue to we can continue to make some strides in
all areas.
Speaker 8 (14:38):
Stands with the Jets on pers.
Speaker 6 (14:42):
You know, relationships with players kind of like you always do.
You remember back, you know, being on the field, in
the huddle with certain guys, and being in the locker
room with certain guys, and you know, there there was
you know, you remember some the good and the bed.
I mean, I remember driving home on the Turnpike and
after losing the game and shaking my head and talking
to my family like, you know, what the hell am
(15:04):
I doing?
Speaker 5 (15:05):
This is not fun?
Speaker 6 (15:07):
But man, I think most of the time when I
look back at those times, it's you know, being.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
In the locker room with the Williams brothers.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
And you know, and and and and everybody else that
I kind of got to play with.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Uh in that organization.
Speaker 7 (15:21):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
I don't know if I necessarily enjoyed.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
How everything went on the field there, but I'm super
grateful for my time there. And it's just one of
those times in my career that you know, you had
to fight through some things and kind of get to
the next step. But a lot of a lot of
great guys on that team and a lot of great memories.
Speaker 11 (15:45):
With them, both kind of transition to a different stage
of your career for being you.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Know, long term starters. What's kind of the toughest part
about making that transition and kind of being and the
teams really want to call on when they need more back.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
Oh, when you're out there and you're playing while the
bullets are flying, you get used to it and and
and you don't want it any other way. So when
you're in a position where that's not necessarily the case
every week, it can be hard. I think the hardest
part of it is just finding your routine to keep
(16:22):
your to keep yourself in the right state of mind,
because it can you know, I know the grind of
being a starter, and I don't want to downplay that,
but when you're when but when you want to be
the guy and you're not the guy, and uh, you know,
you can you can lose confidence and a lot of
bad things can happen in your mind. And it's and
it's finding it's trying to find ways to not allow
(16:44):
that to happen. And it's not very easy when you're
not playing.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
When you're starting.
Speaker 14 (16:47):
What stood out about Sauce, I mean, I know you
weren't there his rookie year, but what did you get
to know about Sauce and what stands.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
Out about it?
Speaker 5 (16:55):
Yeah, we were just talking on the way in. Like,
first of all, I thought he.
Speaker 6 (17:00):
Was a great kid, and I think when you're I
think when you draft guys that have good character and
they're good football players, then you got a good chance.
But he's big, he can run, he can use his length,
he's confident.
Speaker 11 (17:15):
So I don't know if you realize when you were
dropped into this situation just kind of how much the
team needed something, needed a jolt to get the season
going again. Now that you've had some success, can you
kind of feel a different energy about the group? Can
you kind of feel that you're part of what's making
this difference.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
It's tough because I've only been here for a couple
of weeks, and I feel like there has been some energy,
and it was it's only been two weeks, you know, So,
like I think anytime you're on a team, you look
for that positive energy and and you like to feel it.
But I don't want to get ahead of ahead of ourselves.
(17:59):
I just want to, you know, kind of refocus and
take it day by day and you know, yeah, hopefully
that builds and builds and builds, but just want to
kind of focus on doing our job and taking a
day at a.
Speaker 9 (18:12):
Time before you were bangled, you know, job see new
tomor and t. But kind of looking at the rest
of it as there a guy or system or the
coaches or things that have really just taught your eye
that maybe you just weren't as aware of before you
were in the building here.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
I think anytime you get to see behind the scenes
a little bit, it's it's probably different than you thought
from Afar. I mean, even with the even with those
two guys, I think sometimes you could probably get tricked
into thinking like they're just catching go walls and you know,
throwing it up and doing random stuff. But they do
(18:49):
a lot and I think that our coaching staff does
find creative ways. I mean I've just a couple of
weeks that I've been here, I've seen some new routes
and stuff that I really I don't know if I've
ever done before, and maybe it's not like earth shattering,
but it is kind of unique and interesting way to
get some guys the football.
Speaker 8 (19:07):
So what's impressive the most about.
Speaker 6 (19:12):
I The first thing that jumped out at me about
both of them an Isle. It was just their hands.
I know it sounds simple, but uh, the way they
catch the ball, the way they attack the ball when
it's in the air like and then catch the ball
with their hands, it's very very impressive. When you put
the ball out there, you have confidence that that they're
(19:32):
going to go get it and beat whoever's around them
to it.
Speaker 14 (19:36):
Other great players and I'm not asking you to rank them,
but who else stands out like that hands wise that
you've played.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
With Ankwan Bolden like hands wise, like you know when
when he had people on him and you could throw
the ball around him and knew that he was going
to go fight for the football and be able to
catch it with his hands.
Speaker 9 (19:51):
You mentioned Orlando being one of the guys that kind
of come up to you, like, are there other guys
had all conversations with and others around the locker room.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
Well, I think you're in the room with the quarterbacks
all the time. And you know, I've played with Dalton before,
so I've had conversations with him. Ted's very willing to
have conversations, so uh yeah, Ted, Ted, Ted's been great.
I think, honestly, in my experience, it's great to have
guys like that that are, you know, not shy at
(20:19):
all about coming up to you and introducing you to
the team and kind of taking you under their wing
a little bit, because it does kind of help you
make relationships with everybody else. They say, hey, come sit
with us. Here's where the old line says, hey, come,
let's go do this. This is what we do during
this time. And I know I've been around a lot,
but that those kind of things always help.
Speaker 9 (20:37):
I think Zach said, like you had five live rests
with jam or something like that, and.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
See you guys run, I guess the.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
One road to set the seat out.
Speaker 15 (20:47):
I mean it looks like for eighteen years, I mean,
what how does that look as natural as it does
when you guys have barely literally.
Speaker 6 (20:55):
Know, I've thrown lots of it outs and He's run
caught lots of them. And but further, like like I said,
I think one of the first things I said when
you guys kind of asked me about that was, listen,
they're the two He's he and Tier two of the
best at what they do. If you can't find a
way to put the ball somewhere around them, then uh
and complete it. Then then we're in trouble, so I'll
(21:18):
keep it there. It is the truth. I mean, you know,
when you get guys that are good, it's easy to
read their body language, so you know when they're coming
out of their breaks, so you can really trust your
footwork and know that it's going to time up with
his and you know that that's what it is.
Speaker 11 (21:33):
You talk about them and they're skill set and how
different they are. Was there a moment for you where
you had a realization like these guys are.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (21:42):
I mean I feel like I've said it a million
times the Green Bay game, just the way they use
their hands on some of those out routes. Like I
think one of a couple of times I threw jamarro
an out route and he just you know, stuck to
his hands.
Speaker 5 (21:53):
I mean even this game, they they said he bobbled
the one. He was just switching it.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
From like hand to hand, Like he caught that ball
and decided, you know, decided to put in his other
hand almost And then the next thing I would say
is like he took that slant this past week and
then went untouched. I mean that was but he also
like just caught it with his hands and ran right
through it.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
It wasn't even an afterthought.
Speaker 6 (22:18):
It was just seamless, and I think, you know that's
an underrated thing.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
All right, there you go, Joe Flacco chatting with the
members of the local professional football media. Bengals getting set
to take on the New York Jets. One of Joe's
former teams heard him talk about his experience there one
o'clock Sunday Live on ESPN fifteen thirty. Don't forget. Pregame
coverage from the Holy Grail begins at nine am. And
remember tonight it's Bengals game plan with Dan Horde and
(22:47):
Dave Lapham who goes into the Ring of Honor on
Sunday tonight. As soon as we're done at six o'clock
on ESPN fifteen thirty. All right, yeah, Carris for thirty minutes,
Ted Carris for thirty minutes. They're a Ted Champions grill
on the west side. Might swing bye. You never know,
You never know. By the way, Joe Flacco three minutes
(23:08):
late now, I think within five minutes could be considered
on time. So we call that on time.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Ish.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
We're getting there. We're getting there one day this year,
one day this year. We're gonna have a Bengals quarterback,
whoever it is, show up at three fifteen for their
three fifteen press conference. Is that is the closest to
three fifteen we've done so far this year. So good
job by Joe, good job by everybody involved, good job
by us to get on time. It's twenty seven from
(23:42):
four o'clock. Can I spend a few minutes on the
World Series? Of course I can, because it's my show.
You should root for the Dodgers. I'm rooting for the Dodgers.
We'll explain why.
Speaker 7 (23:51):
Next.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
I'm fifteen thirty traffic.
Speaker 10 (23:58):

(24:55):
Bengals official injury report is not out yet. It's not out,
but Zach Taylor today said that Trey Hendrickson is currently
considered day to day. If he did go today, he'll
be limited. We will see Aaron Glenn in New York,
the head coach of the Jets, who are zero to seven,
says he's not going to tell anybody whose quarterback is
going to be. Justin Fields got benched. Tyrod Taylor came in.
(25:18):
Tyrod Taylor apparently has a little bit of an issue.
Doesn't want to give the Bengals a competitive advantage. Now
they should have a competitive advantage because they're playing the Jets.
We'll see one o'clock Sunday live on ESPN fifteen thirty.
More tonight on Bengals Game Plan from six o'clock until
eight o'clock on ESPN fifteen thirty, not a ton of
(25:40):
local sports tetlines. Chris Albright the GMFFC Cincinnati at four
h five, and we'll go to Kansas City, which is
where Big twelve Basketball media days are happening right now.
Scott Springer is going to join us from Casey at
four twenty. We'll have some Wes Miller audio for you
a little bit later. On yesterday, we got a phone
call from our our friend Mike. Mike is arguably our
(26:03):
most loyal listener, uh and I think inarguably our most
frequent caller. And Mike's a big Dodgers fan. And he
called in to talk about the Dodgers. And you know
how this show works, right, We don't limit you in
terms of what you know you could talk about, so
it might not be a topic. Guy, I know anything
about that's pretty frequent. But he was calling and talking
(26:23):
about the World Series and the Dodgers, Dodgers and Blue Jays,
and like there's I get how it works, right. Everybody's
rioting against the Dodgers. I read Paul Daherty's newsletter today
on substack. You know everybody's written for the blue Jays.
The blue Jays are in Canada, but they're America's team.
By the way, the Toronto Blue Jays have the fifth
highest payroll in baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays spent almost
(26:49):
one hundred million dollars less than the La Dodgers. But
the Toronto Blue it's not like the Toronto Blue Jays.
Are you know where their reds were at number twenty two.
Blue Jays have the fifth highest pay roll in baseball,
just beneath the Philadelphia Phillies. But sure, the Dodgers go
past the salary cap threshold. By the way, the Dodgers
don't have the highest payroll in baseball either. That belongs
(27:10):
to the New York Mets, who didn't even make the postseason.
The Dodgers did. Uh, So there's this anti big market sentiment.
If the Dodgers win, it's gonna ruin baseball. Like the
manager of the team has leaned into that, right, Dave Roberts.
Let's win four more so we can really ruin baseball.
By the way, baseball has not been ruined. Like the
(27:33):
sport's actually on fire. The owners are gonna lock everybody
out at the end of next year. But the sport
is like. Ratings are up, interest is up. Attendance is up.
Pitchclock has been awesome. Like I am a very vocal
critic of Rob Manfred the commissioner, but you know he
forced in the pitchclock. A lot of people didn't like it.
It's been great. I don't love the fact that we've
(27:54):
watered down the regular season by adding playoff teams, but
the wildcard ratings were really good. Baseball postseason ratings for
the most part have been all right. Sports in a
really good place right now. So if something's being ruined,
if no one's watching it, you know it's every time
I college football is being ruined. Really you look at
the ratings I look at because the ratings on Saturdays
(28:17):
are still awesome and the stadiums are still full. Something
is ruined when people stop using it, or consuming it
or watching it. So, no, Baseball is not being ruined
by the Dodgers. I'm rooting for the Dodgers, and I
think you should too. Like if you want to root
against an owner, root for the root against the owner
who doesn't spend. The Dodgers aren't doing anything illegal. They're
(28:40):
exploiting the rules, and they're exploiting advantages that Baseball has
decided they get blame them for doing that. If you
want to hate an owner, hate the owner of like
the Pirates, who's blatant in his unwillingness to spend. Root
against the who torpedoed their team while in Oakland and
(29:04):
then moved it. Root against the teams that never spend.
Now I know you're going, well, the rads mo red
To had the twenty second highest pay roll in the sport.
I wish they would spend more. But the biggest issue
in that sport for me, aren't the owners who spend.
The biggest issue in that sport are the owners who
(29:25):
have convinced people we can't spend and so we're not
gonna Those are the owners worth rooting against. I think
the other part of this is, if you want baseball's
economic model to change, Number one, you're probably rooting for
a really long lockout. And by the way it's coming,
(29:49):
it might be a lockout like to one a couple
of years ago, which didn't touch any regular season games
and pushbackspring training for a few weeks and you know,
kind of made the offseason really quiet. But that's coming.
Maybe we have a lockout that actually interrupts the season,
cancels games, Maybe it cancels an entire year. But if
you want baseball's economic model to change, then you want
(30:10):
the owners to lock the players out and do what
they've never done before, which is forced the players to
agree to a different way of doing things. I still
believe it'll be a cold day in hell before that happens.
But if you want baseball to look inward and go,
you know what, we've got to do something different than
what you want. Is there to be this sense of
(30:32):
inevitability that if you spend like the Dodgers do, you're
going to win no matter what you want. There to
be a helpless feeling within the sport. My team has
no chance as long as the economics of the sport
remain the way they are. And the only way you
(30:54):
get people to feel like they have no chance is
for the same team to win. So I'm rooting for
the Dodgers. Number one. I love Otani, I like Freddie Freeman,
I like Mookie Bets. More than anything, I want a
really good series. Last year's World Series, despite big market
versus big market, the games themselves may be aside from
(31:15):
Game one, and perhaps aside from Game four, which is
when the idiot Yankees fan tried to keep Mooki Bets
from catching the ball. The games themselves pretty forgettable. Game
one was actually awesome, the other four not very memorable.
But you'll read a thousand columns this week about how
America should root for the Canada's team because the Dodgers
(31:37):
spend and it's unfair. It may be unfair. I will
not argue that it may serve the sport better to
have a different economic model. I will not argue against that.
But the bigger issue in that sport for me are
the owners who have money to spend and don't, and
who have convinced large chunks of their fans that it's
(31:59):
okay to not spend money on your team. Those are
the owners. Those are the teams worth rooting against, not
the ones that try, not the ones that take advantage
of advantages that the other owners are willing to give them.
The owners of the teams that don't spend have not
gotten in the way of the Dodgers having certain economic advantages,
(32:21):
and by the way, other teams can spend past the
luxury tax threshold, most teams choose not to, or if
you want, there to be this helpless feeling which by
the way there was in the late nineties when the
Yankees won four World Series in five years. Then what
you really want to set in is the sense that
(32:42):
nobody in Cincinnati or Milwaukee, or Pittsburgh or Cleveland or
Kansas City has a chance. As long as the Dodgers
have the advantage that they and the Mets and the
Yankees and a handful of others enjoy, we'll see again.
More than anything, I want great baseball. I think this
World Series is a lot of fun. That Blue Jays
lineup is terrific. The Dodgers starting pitching has been otherworldly.
(33:05):
That lineup's really good. Uh, Dodgers Stadium will look cool
during the World Series. I'm not sure the Rogers Center
or wherever they call what the Blue Jays play and
is gonna look all that cool. It's old, But I
don't know. Man Like I don't get angry when teams spend.
If the rules allow them to spend and outspend other teams,
why should I care fix your sport. It's up to
(33:27):
the owners to do that. They've never shown a willingness
to do that, And maybe the only way that it
happens is for a lot of people to feel like
it doesn't matter. Teams like the Dodgers are gonna win
every year regardless. The only way that sets in is
if the Dodgers indeed do win. So there you go,
reasons for you to root for LA twelve away from
four o'clock. By the way, I think Dodge's gonna win
(33:49):
that series in six, which is like the most cop
out prediction there is. I think they win that series
in six. We'll see five point three, seven, four, nine,
fifteen thirty. You could send a tweet at Moeger thanks

(34:11):
I did not have a chance to watch live, not
because I was unwilling to pay for Big ten Network Plus,
but our travel to Oklahoma for the football game. We
got in late in the first half, but I've watched
the game since I'm here for the SHAWNA Bye of experience. Now.
They had no answer in the second half for Landenborg,
(34:32):
who might be the best player in the country. Michigan
big Man came from UAB but I'll talk to Scott
Springer in about thirty minutes about what we could pull
from that game that might matter once the real games
actually start. He is at Big twelve Media Days. Our
friend Amy Wagner is going to be with us at
four to thirty five because there's something happening in college
football that I think could apply to the real world,
(34:54):
including you, because you know you live in the real world.
That at four thirty five, and our guy Danny Can
on the five o'clock hour, plus Richard Skinner too. As
you could tell, it's a loaded show, unfortunately not a
loaded host. Ten away from for Chris Albright GMFFC Cincinnati

Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.

Traffic from the UC Health Traffic Center, Mammo Graham Save

they disabled vehicle northbound seventy one seventy five on the

Speaker 16 (35:50):
Hey, Alexa, what's the latest on the NBA. Oh, you
want to.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Know that iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Well, we're not playing any Guys to Heights game one,
Mitchell Robinson load management for the first game of the season,
Karl Anthony Towns is doubtful. Josh Hart hurt his back
and has a bum finger. I haven't played a game yet.
Plus six hundred to win the whole thing. Eastern Conference
Finals preview tonight Cavs and Knicks, New York laying three
(36:20):
and a half. I think that line has actually moved.
I haven't checked. There's your answer. By the way, the
NBA and NBC last night. If you were a child
of the nineties, you know, obviously NBC carried all the
NBA games in the nineties and early two thousands, and
you know, you think of the NBA and NBC, you
think of Michael Jordan, and you think of the Shaq
and Kobe years. And so last night was the first
(36:42):
game on NBC since two thousand and two, and they
had a double header last night. The first game of
that doubleheader, the second game Terrence team lost. The first
game of that double header, OKC in Houston was awesome,
went double overtime, but they played the John Tesh music.
The two criticisms every criticisms I would have would be
Number one, if you have Michael Jordan, don't limit Michael
(37:05):
Jordan to three minutes on your pregame show and Mike
Riico do a sit down with Michael Jordan that they're
like going to cut up and play like three minute
bursts here and there during the season. Dude, it's Michael Jordan,
Like that should be your pregame show. Number Two, the
voiceover guy is AI because the dude who was the
voiceover guy in the nineties is not with us anymore.
I'm opposed to AI voiceovers. It's creepy. Number Three. Everything
(37:29):
was going well until they showed the announcer crew. There's
Mike Tico, who's excellent, There's Jamal Crawford who's terrific, and
then there's Reggie Miller.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Ill thought you're going to Carmelo.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
Carmelo Anthony is my guy.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
The only one who didn't wear a suit last night.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
That good, fine, whatever. Carmelo Anthony is going to be excellent.
Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony is going to be excellent
in that role. I don't know why you have to
have a three man booth for basketball. I actually think
Reggie Miller is a decent analyst. I don't know why
you need three people for basketball. I'm not sure why
you need it for football. Don't know why you need
(38:05):
it for basketball. Chris Albright f C Cincinnati, GM next, got.
Speaker 17 (38:11):
Here, that's right, like espneen thirty Cincinnatis, all right.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
Five minutes after four o'clock. This is ESPN fifteen thirty.
I'm Mowegor. Good afternoon, thank you so much for listening home.
We're having just an awesome, awesome I said Wednesday afternoon.
It'll be fun on Monday night. That's the three series
FC Cincinnati and Columbus in the MLS Cup playoffs. The
Orange and Blue wrapping up the regular season with a
(38:38):
win over Montreal on Saturday, clinching the two seed and
setting up first round series against the Crew starts on
Monday night at TQL Stadium. That game will start at
six forty five, with Game two in Columbus next weekend.
The general manager of FC Cincinnati, and first of all,
I want to thank him because he was supposed to
(39:00):
join us tomorrow. I thought it was yesterday because I'm
a dope and and I'm off tomorrow, so he was
nice enough to rearrange his schedule. The GM of f
C Cincinnati, Chris Albright, is with us. I appreciate you
adjusting things for us. Chris. It's awesome to have you.
How are you all, good man, No worries.
Speaker 18 (39:17):
I'm just happy to be on with you.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
It's good to have you. I say this, and you're
you are free to correct me or confirm. I feel
like from way back in February when training started until
the end of the transfer window about a month and
a half ago, it feels like this has been the
most influx the FC Cincinnati roster has been since you
(39:40):
took over. Would that be a fair and accurate assessment?
Speaker 18 (39:43):
That is that is confirmed?
Speaker 4 (39:46):
I would say the winter window had more drama than
than we wanted, a lot of turnover. We got through
the winter window and I thought to myself, well, I'll
never see a window.
Speaker 8 (39:57):
Like that again.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
And then a summer window open, and then and we
added five more guys and moved a few guys out,
and so I think we're in a good spot now
with our depths and hopefully.
Speaker 7 (40:07):
Ready to make her up for it.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Yeah, I mean, you know what you did late summer
felt like, Okay, these moves are specifically for October and beyond.
You still feel that way, I do?
Speaker 3 (40:19):
You know?
Speaker 4 (40:19):
I think once you see a group together for twenty
five or so games and you're really building around key
pieces in a Vander and Kevin Dankey, you can kind
of diagnose what you need, but you don't want to.
You don't want to just add short term solutions that
you can't build around going forward. So I think we
were able to identify guys that are kind of win
now pieces, but also pieces to help us build around
(40:42):
as we as we move forward.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
When when you acquired a Vander, we all knew you
were getting a great player, and we all knew you
were getting a guy that at times, you know, especially
as as Pat was trying to figure out who was
going to do what you could lean on because he's
a star. Aside from what we see, give me an
idea of what his impact on the club has been on.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
You, You know what, instantly mo he really fit into
the group. You know, you can always kind of gauge
the culture and the atmosphere around the team in the
meal room, and you know, once we got past some
of the drama that we needed to get past and
Evander showed up, the volume in the meals and preseason
(41:23):
was just at like an all time high. And so
he really did a great job for being such a
special player of fitting in with every member of the team,
not just guys his own age or guys from South America,
but literally everyone. And that was really the best compliment
that I could pay him. You see his ability on
the field, but that soft stuff has been really important
(41:45):
for our group.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Every week we get on a match analyst or the
play by play person for your next game from Apple TV,
either on Thursday or Friday, and over the second half
of the season, I think every single week, whether it's
in an analyst, whether it's been a studio host, whether
it's been a play by play person, all will go
out of their way to mention the job that Pat
(42:07):
Noonan has done with his team. And I've asked a
few of them, you know, for a guy who has
been the coach of the year in this league before.
It feels to me like this was his best individual
coaching job. You've seen them all and you, you and
Pat are in total alignment. But is the best Is
this the best job that that Pat Noon has done
with an individual team? Perhaps?
Speaker 4 (42:26):
I mean, it's it's tough to beat a trophy winning season,
and we were we were a point just short of that,
So I know we set really high expectations for ourselves.
Pat certainly does for himself, but him and his staff
did an incredible job again pulling all these pieces together, uh,
you know, figuring out different lineups, injuries. We've had some
injuries to some key contributors, and I think understanding how
(42:51):
to use the debts.
Speaker 16 (42:53):
Those pieces have.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
Now played a lot of minutes so that if they
are called upon come playoff time, they should be ready.
So I say, a great job managing the group and
has set us up for success hopefully over.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
The next month and a half.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
I think if you asked and your perspective may have
been different. I think if you asked the average FC
Cincinnati fan going into the postseason last year, it didn't
feel like your club was going into the postseason with
a ton of momentum. It feels a little bit different
this year, though, I think the Eastern Conference feels more
wide open, although last year it proved to be very
wide open once the postseason began. Do you feel like
(43:26):
your team is better positioned to make a run than
maybe it was a year ago.
Speaker 4 (43:30):
I think both things are true. I think we're well
positioned to make a run. I think we're in a
better place than we were at the end of last year.
Certainly a deeper group, kind of more tools in the
tool belt. But the East is a gauntlet. The bottom
of the East. I think the ninth place team was
(43:50):
like on fifty three points. I mean, I think that
was good for like fourth the.
Speaker 7 (43:55):
Last few years.
Speaker 4 (43:57):
So I think as deep and as competitive as the
East has ever been in we're certainly up for the challenge.
I think that's what makes it. It's gonna be a
really good product for MLS, for TV, for you know,
hopefully the fans that come out and see it live,
you know, especially with a match up with like with
US in Columbus. But uh, we we're confident in our group,
confident in our in our top end talent and and
(44:17):
and sort of the bottom of the roster as well.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
Is a playoff series with a rival more fun or
less fun?
Speaker 7 (44:25):
It's uh, it's it's more fun.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
It is it's more you know, the stress and anxiety
that comes with rivalries and angst, you know, all that
certainly bubbles to the surface. And whether you enjoy that
or not, I guess that's how you kind of rate,
you know, rate the series. But like I said, it's
it's I think it's the best rivalry in MLS, which
is really you know, great for the state of Ohio,
(44:50):
great for for FC Cincinnati. Uh, And so I think
it's gonna be a really enjoyable series for for the
average fan.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
F C Cincinnati general manager Chris Albright with us FC
Cincinnati is getting set for Game one of their best
of three series against Columbus at home on Monday night.
The length of this season is extraordinary for folks who
follow other sports. If you guys go all the way,
you're going to be playing in early December and then
like a week later the next you know, the twenty
(45:16):
twenty six season is going to begin. Conka CAV Champions
Cup and all that. What what's on your plate right now? Like,
what is the general manager of a Major League soccer
team that has a team in the postseason working on
at the moment we right.
Speaker 4 (45:30):
When the window closes, what we try to do is
kind of turn our eyes internally to the rest of
the organization. So whether that's SCC two MLS, next pro,
you know, our second team, whether that's kind of continuing
to build out our academy and improve our academy, you know,
those kind of things right as the window closes, and
then shortly after you kind of address some of those
(45:52):
key items you're we're on the next season. You know,
we're already trying to make guesses on uh, you know,
some some salary up calculations and what pieces will will
be around, what pieces won't, what additions we need.
Speaker 6 (46:06):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (46:07):
You know, we have scouts internationally that are already out
watching games. So our attention, you know, for sort of
me and my guys very quickly goes on to twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
What's match night like for you? What are you doing?
Speaker 4 (46:23):
What am I doing on match night? Angsting with all
the fans is what I would say. Basically, I'm like,
I'm like everybody in the bailey biting their nail nails
for ninety minutes. No, that's day's that's day's great.
Speaker 5 (46:37):
Now.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Look, I try to I try to be supportive to
the coaches. I try to have little conversations with players
here and there, but ultimately a lot of you know,
the work that we've done in my part of the
of the houses should be done come match day and
try to enjoy it. I'm enjoying it more as the
years go by, and maybe angsting left, so that's probably
good for my health.
Speaker 1 (46:57):
Yeah, I can relate to that. It's been a terrific year.
Best of luck on Monday and over the course of
the next five or six weeks. It's been fun to
watch your team this year and a lot of moving parts,
a lot of drama, but it's been fun to watch,
and hopefully it continues until early December. I can't thank
you enough. Always awesome to have you, and again I
appreciate you adjusting your schedule.
Speaker 18 (47:20):
No worries.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
Well, had you liked your knicks tonight or no?
Speaker 1 (47:22):
I like my knicks, you know. Yeah, my teams are
orange and blue. So we got to beat the Calves,
get the season off to a good start, and then
you guys carry the Orange and Blue you know thing
moving forward on Monday.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
All right, I like it.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
Good luck man, all right?
Speaker 1 (47:37):
Likewise, Chris Albright, general manager, FC Cincinnati the Orange and Blue.
The soccer Orange and Blue home on Monday, Game one,
best of three series against Columbus at six forty five
on Monday evening at TQL Stadium. It's Quota aph for four.
It is remarkable the job he is done. And he
and Pat Nowon in both remember the first time we
(48:01):
had him on and look, man take it, you know,
with a grain of salt when it comes to me
giving you the nuts and bolts of soccer. I've always
been transparent about that. But like the first few years
of MLS play, it just it felt like instability. It
didn't always feel professional. It felt like there wasn't alignment.
And I remember the first time I talked to that
guy going, I think they have like a legitimate soccer executive.
(48:24):
I think they just became a real Major League soccer franchise.
And job he has done, job Patten Neuter has done
has been awesome and I hope it continues. All month.
A lot of folks got antsy when they saw, Man,
we're gonna play Columbus we'll see should be fun. Should
be fun again? Monday Night Game one, best of three.
(48:44):
Speaking of fun, is the UC basketball season gonna be fun? Because, frankly,
last year was not. Scott Springer's the Big twelve Media

the Bengals pass rush issues have been solved. Cedric Johnson's
been cleared. Big twelve media Days are happening in Kansas

Speaker 1 (50:41):
So that was going to be my first question the
Big Twelve Tournament this year. Will there'll be a new floor?
It feels like the answer is going to be no, unless.
Speaker 19 (50:48):
So getting rid of this one because it's certainly back
out here right now. They're actually cleaning up because things
are wrapping up. Houston's Calvin Sampson is about ready to
take his team up top and do the thing on
the big stage. But they're they're winding down team wise.
There's a morning session and afternoon session the Bearcats for
this morning. Baylor was this afternoon. Got a chance to
(51:10):
talk to Dan Skillings Junior, and a lot of dignitaries
around here. Your Seth Davis's, your Clark, Kellogg's Brian Thornton,
who works for the Big twelve used to play player
Xavier big Fellow, famous people, Brett Urram Mark the commissioner,
and then there's guys that snuck in like.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
Me, how's Dan Skillings doing? Because I'm gonna guess he
scores like one hundred points when Baylor plays.
Speaker 19 (51:36):
You see, I know they had an exhibition against Grand
Canyon and I believe he had a double double in
that one. He as well, he's not here anymore, so
I can see he told someone that he maybe thought
he should have red shirted last year. So who knows,
I don't know. I mean, he he did miss some time.
(51:58):
You know, you go back to the first Villanova loss.
He did not play in that one. I think he
came back and then he did play against Savior, had
a decent game against them. You know, we all thought
the same thing. It just he didn't appear to have
his part in it. In my opinion, I think he's
as good as he wants to be if he gets
(52:19):
rejuvenated in Waco, so be it. I know he dates
a UC dance team members. He's always been nice to me.
He was gracious today, said some good things. So I
don't hold anything against him. And you know, frankly, everyone
you get to the transfer portal, you lose a few guys,
you're going, oh my god, what we're gonna do. We
(52:39):
we'll have a team. We'll have a team. Next thing,
you know, you got a ross that might be even
better than what you had before. So it certainly is
interesting in this era where you're just flipping teams every year.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
No question about that. They're pick to finish eighth. That
that feels, I guess about, right, what do you think?
Speaker 20 (53:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (53:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 19 (53:01):
I think what I sent in was maybe seventh, but yeah,
somewhere in the middle. But you don't know. I mean,
obviously at the topers Houston, there's a bunch of teams
that are that are highly ranked Iowa State. It's always
going to be good. I think that guy's a really
good coach. You still got the Kansas and the Kansas States.
I think Kansas is better, supposed that Kansas State is
(53:23):
better than they were.
Speaker 5 (53:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 19 (53:26):
Again, you're talking about rosters that you don't really know.
You know, it used to be, you know, you and
I way back when Great Midwest or whatever. You knew
that De Paul had had the Clinschmidt, you knew who
Marquette had, and you knew who every team had, and
that's no longer. Having said that, you look at UC playing.
(53:49):
I certainly liked what I saw the other night. On
the other hand, you don't want to get too crazy because,
like I've told you, the best game they played last
season was the exhibition against Ohio State. So you got
Arkansas coming up on Friday. I know Jalen Celestine is
supposed to get some minutes and that one, so when
you get a look at him, I don't know if
(54:09):
you're going to see Haines this year or not. If
you do, it's going to be later in the year.
And the other kid, Lucas Attari, I don't know what
his situation is not medically cleared. I don't know how
long that is, but you know, you look at what
you saw the other night, and it was interesting, and
everybody played. Everybody played double digit minutes, and in my opinion,
(54:31):
Michigan was trying to win that game. Late in the
game they played the Lindenborg, you know, thirty one of
the forty minutes.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
So that was going to be kind of my next
question because.
Speaker 18 (54:41):
I'm here to steal your questions.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
That's good, that's good. That means they're good questions. So
understanding that a lot of us put the Bearcats in
the Final four after they played the way they did
against Ohio State, and maybe we should take exhibition performances
and results with a grain of salt. What was the
big takeaway from how they played against the Wolverines.
Speaker 19 (55:01):
I think the first half talking to some staffers, they
were playing exactly the way they had hoped to play.
They liked the transition game, you're getting up and down,
the defense that you saw out of Buck Harris, and
they got Kirk Cries excited about playing defense, and you
know he's more of an offensive mind, but.
Speaker 5 (55:21):
He looked good.
Speaker 19 (55:22):
Shawn Abaya, I saw him at Overtime Elite last year,
and he was dominating high school kids and he looked
about the same to me. But on the other hand,
I've told people, if you ever saw a game at
Overtime Elite, it's not like going to your typical wood
and bleach your gym. I mean that's showtime glamer and
glitz and scoreboards and all sorts of things. So the
(55:43):
ten thousand plus at Chrystler Arena, I don't think it
faced him a bit. So I think that's what they expected.
Then in the second half, you know, Michigan's preseason number
seven for a reason, so they were going to come back.
I saw the interview at the halftime with May the coach. Frankly,
he seemed like he was a bit ticked off, and
so he got him going. They made a comeback. If
(56:05):
you're a Cincinnati pan you're going, well, we've seen plenty
of this, haven't we? But can you tell yourself? But
it's still an exhibition whatever. Hey, the good thing is
they won, so you want it doesn't count be excited
for a couple of days see what happens against Arkansas.
But I did see some promise.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
What will they be missing without Jalen Haynes.
Speaker 19 (56:29):
Well, I always liked the big, wide body guy and
he just you know, good solid post moves and things
like that. But on the other hand, from adversity comes opportunity,
said the great Rick Minner, and Tyler McKinley has a chance.
Now there's a guy that you might have saw last year,
but he got hurt, so now he can step up.
(56:50):
And you know, look, he came in, got some keyboards,
he made a three. Tom looked good. Hal Van got
thirteen minutes that they think it was Baba Miller. You
talk to people, they think Baba Miller is the top
pro prospect on the team maybe right now. So fran
Drewschilla is here. That's what he told me the other day.
(57:10):
Fran wouldn't lie.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
No, he wouldn't. I think that's his reputation. He's a
guy that no matter what, is going to give you, uh,
it's going to give you the truth. Well, I know
you're busy. Thank you as always, and we'll talk soon.
Thanks so much, appreciate the time.
Speaker 19 (57:24):
Most see you Saturday, all.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
Right, I look forward to it. Scott Springer covering Big
twelve Media Days in Kansas City for the Inquirer and
Cincinnati dot Com. It's twenty nine minutes after four o'clock.
Private equity is going to invest into the Big ten apparently,
So what does that mean? What does it mean? Like
if you're a company, private equity is going to come in.
(57:45):
What's that mean? Amy Wagner is going to explore those
topics with us after sports headlines, which are next on
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

In fifteen minutes, I'll go. I'll solicit content. Now we're
gonna talk to Amy Wagner here. In a second, we're
gonna play a very very stupid Bengals Jets trivia game,
not the normal one. I think I might have the
normal one in the five o'clock hour. I need you
(01:00:11):
to answer one Bengals Jets trivia question. So I need
contestants at five, one, three, seven, four, nine, fifteen thirty
if you want tickets to go see Nate Bargatzi on
Sunday night. It's for Sunday Show, Sunday Show at the
Heritage Bank Center. But right now it's Wednesday. It's four

we talk money, We talk with Amy. Amy. How are you?
Speaker 20 (01:00:41):
I'm good? I want need Bargotzi tickets. He's hysterical.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
He is very funny man.
Speaker 20 (01:00:47):
It's very funny man. Probably not eligible, but you're not eligible.
Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
But if if you know whoever wins wants to go
with somebody. We're giving away two tickets. They could take you.
Speaker 20 (01:00:58):
Okay, give them my number. Whoever wins them my number,
have them call me or text me. That's a good plan. Okay,
I like that.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
You genuinely think you don't want that.
Speaker 20 (01:01:08):
I'm going to trust you to do like a vetting
process that you let me know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
See, we'll see, we'll see. All right, here's here's here's
what I want you to help me with.
Speaker 18 (01:01:20):
So.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
I know nothing about private capital, private investment firms, but
college sports are changing, right. The landscape is changing. The
business of college sports are changing. The Big Ten Conference,
which obviously Ohio State and Indiana locally are in. Uh,
they are discussing a private capital deal that would pump
in like two billion dollars into the league and its members.
(01:01:41):
Uh what does this mean?
Speaker 20 (01:01:45):
Yeah, this is an interesting story, and I don't think
stams begin to understand how much of an impact this
could have. A couple of teams in the Big Ten,
specifically Ohio State and Michigan have some oservations here, and
I think rightly so, and so they're still kind of
discussing this deal and their concerns. There are a couple one Hey,
(01:02:08):
we're a private or we're a public university. So what
does it mean for pumping in all of this private
equity dollars? How does that affect that status? But since
a second is financial autonomy, right, Like they've been making
these decisions, and I think you know, as average fans,
we love these teams and we support them for these colleges. However,
(01:02:29):
these universities, this is big business. I mean, how do
you say it's football program probably funds almost every other
athletic program that loses money. Right, this is big, big business.
But then you have to go a step further with this,
which is for private equity, they don't necessarily look at
(01:02:50):
it from a fans standpoint or even as a business standpoint.
They're looking at this as an investment, and that's a
really different way to look at these businesses. So it's
almost like these two worlds have recently collided and timing
has been impeccable for this. I think about my dentist
(01:03:10):
office or some of my doctor's offices that used to
be privately run by a couple of local doctors or
dentists who have since there have been mergers and acquisitions,
and often times private equity is behind that, and essentially
it's just a polled group of investors that are trying
to invest in a business that you couldn't necessarily invest
(01:03:31):
in public markets.
Speaker 1 (01:03:32):
Right.
Speaker 7 (01:03:32):
If you know people who.
Speaker 20 (01:03:33):
Own shares of Meta or Google or Alphabet, Navidia, whatever
it is, those are publicly traded companies. But if you
have an interest in owning a company or part of
a company that isn't traded on one of those stock exchanges,
private equity is often how you get in. These are
usually sophisticated investors and they come in with some knowledge
(01:03:57):
of a business and what they're trying to do is
make the business and make it even more profitable. They're
looking for businesses with well known brands that generates even revenue,
revenue that they expect to grow in the future. Does
that sound like big sports collegiate sports. Absolutely, so it
makes sense that the next frontier for private equity are
(01:04:20):
these college teams that are growing, that are raking in
a lot of money on the flood side. Right from
a university standpoint, why would they be interested in opening
the doors to some outside investors that are going to
start frankly calling some shots. Well, look at the way
that the landscape has changed, Right, I think it was
(01:04:40):
twenty twenty one when there was that Supreme Court case
and open the floodgates for now all of these athletes
to make money, right.
Speaker 7 (01:04:47):
Name image likeness.
Speaker 20 (01:04:50):
There was another similar lawsuits this year that required a
lot of these universities to backpay going back to twenty sixteen,
substantial on that to these college athletes in nil sort
of that pay. And now they're essentially operating these teams
as pro teams, right, I mean, they're hiring general managers
(01:05:11):
with packaging to the tune of a million dollars that
are operating you know, not just rosters where they're trying
to recruit top talent, but also pay top talent. And
that means you're going to have someone come to a
university for one or two years and go somewhere else
wherever they can get paid more.
Speaker 7 (01:05:28):
Right.
Speaker 20 (01:05:29):
And so this business is now operating at a brand
new level. And in order to do that, they're going
to need fresh capital to attract the best athletes. And
the way that they have been doing that over the
course of the past few years is Okay, mo, you're
a you're an alum of the university of Dayton. So
we are trying to attract top talent. We're going to
(01:05:51):
come to you in a pool of other alumni and
ask you for money. Okay, Well, when that first starts,
maybe everyone opens their pockets because you want your team
to be successful. But at some point there's a little
bit of fatigue there, right, Well, at some point most
pockets are going to run dry, same with all alumni basis, right,
So where you're going to find this capital. Well, here's
(01:06:13):
private equity sitting here. Now. You know, oftentimes when private
equity comes in, it's like you know, I tell my
clients all the time with your four oh one ks,
like put the money in and then hopefully it's invested
in it grows for years and years and years. These
are much shorter term investments. The cycles usually three to
seven years, with an average of about five. So they're
(01:06:35):
coming in, they're putting a bunch of capital in initially
to try to get things running as smoothly as possible,
generate as much revenue as possible, and then toward the
end of that cycle, they're backing out of those investments
looking to sell to someone else, and then that's how
they turn that profit, right, and so it's just a
(01:06:57):
little bit opening a Pandora's box in a very new sector.
To have these college sports operated, these teams essentially operated
by people who are, you know, on boards trying to
make money off of them. It's a whole new level
of investing.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
It sounds like it. So now, make this make sense
for somebody who might be working for a company where
private equity comes in. What does that mean for your
your average rank and file employee.
Speaker 20 (01:07:27):
This happens all the time. I've seen it happen right
here in the tri State. You know, local owners trying
to figure out what's a succession plan. Either they want
to exit only or they want to exit at retirement.
And oftentimes when you're building a business, the way that
you can make the most money is some kind of
an outside buyer, either private equity or a strategic buyer
(01:07:49):
and kind of the same space. So private equity is
in every sector you can imagine right now, And if
you're an employee, you may not know and tell the
deal is almost eight. But oftentimes management changes somewhat substantially.
They're looking for strong managers. But then there's a board
(01:08:10):
that has a lot of oversight into how that company
is operated. So when they first come in, it's great
because it's who do you want to hire and what
are all the things that you've ever wanted to see
in your role. Lots of new faces, lots of new programs,
lots of new money flowing through. Towards the end of
that cycle, they sort of tighten their reins and they're
looking for a sale, so they're looking to make those
(01:08:32):
balance sheets look as good as possible. And so you're
a bit of on a roller coaster in where you
are in that private equity cycle. So not necessarily a
terrible thing. And listen, if you are, you know, a
major leader, then there's usually some kind of you know,
(01:08:53):
financial incentives to stick around, right, you know, and so
oftentimes you may make a little more. But the structure
of your company, it's leadership, the way that it's run,
could change drastically. And for people who don't love change
or you know, you know, you can't understand the fact
(01:09:14):
that it is. It's a pretty drastic change in the
way that these companies are structured. Because there's outside voices
and there's major pension programs that are you know, investing
in private equity, and you know, you look at something
like a pension plan and there's a guaranteed percentage or
a guaranteed amount that you're having to pay out all
the people that are getting that percentage. So it becomes,
(01:09:36):
you know, mission critical to make sure that these businesses
are all growing. They're looking at organic growth, they're looking
at ways to you know, make that growth take off quickly.
And you know, for some people, that's a tough place
to be in depending on your position with them.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
That way. Question here from a lot of folks who
have dealt with that. I've I've dealt with that in
the past myself. Awesome insight is always We will talk
next week.
Speaker 20 (01:10:02):
Sounds good coming about those bargazi, no.
Speaker 1 (01:10:05):
Doubt about it. I'll put you in contact with the
person whoever wins. In five minutes, I'll know they have
a companion to take on Sunday. Thank you, as always,
so good. That's our friend, Amy Wagner, Wealth Advisor Dean
Dorton Wealth. You can learn more but the Dean Dorton difference.
Just go to deandortonwealth dot com. All right, we'll play
our game. I need you to answer one question about
(01:10:29):
the shared history of the Bengals and Jets, And if
you can do that, you'll go see Nate Bargatzi on
Sunday Night, plus Danny Canell in college football, Richard Skinner
on the Bengals, and you'll hear what Wes Miller had
to say. A big twelve media day is coming up
in the next hour on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 13 (01:10:47):
Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 10 (01:10:51):
Traffic from the UC Health Traffic Center Mamma Graham Save

I'm at Eazelic with traffic.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
This report is SPN fifteen thirty. We have parent tickets
to go see Nate Bargatzi on Sunday, and I'm going
to be very transparent with you. It just occurred to
me right before we had Amy that I've got to
give away these tickets. So you know, we we typically
we've we've often done stupid trivia games. I'm only going
(01:11:43):
to ask one. Bengals play the Jets on Sunday, so
we're going to do one here, and then I got
to figure out something for the five o'clock hour. How
we're going to do the second pair of tickets Nate
Bargatzi Sunday, Heritage Bank Center. I'm looking for a contestant
I have here, Steve. Steve, good afternoon. Are you ready
to play a stupid radio game and maybe win Nate
(01:12:06):
Bargotzi tickets.
Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
I'm ready to go.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Okay, I'm doing this on the fly. Tarran. Neither Tarran
or I showed up to rehearsal today. So Tarren, can
I get a timer? Can I get a time? A
thirty second timer? Give me a did I say one
minute off air? Thirty second? One minute?
Speaker 7 (01:12:25):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Let's make it thirty seconds. Let's take because you know what,
let's no, let's make it thirty seconds. Time is of
the essence either way, I got it all. I need
a thirty second timer, all right, Steve, I'm gonna ask
you a question here and there's there's gonna be uh
let's see four, yeah, four names that I need you
to spit at me. You have thirty seconds to spit
out the names, and if you do, you're gonna go.
(01:12:47):
See Nate Bargotzi. If if not a guy we have
on a hold name Mark is gonna go instead. Are
you prepared to you a Bengals fan? I am all right,
very good?
Speaker 7 (01:12:56):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Are you ready, Steve? I'm gonna ask you this question
that I need you to be ready to go? Okay,
stand by the question, Steve. All Right. When Joe Flacco
threw a touchdown pass for the Bengals against Green Bay,
he became he became the uh fourth player. So I
need three fourth player to throw a touchdown pass for
(01:13:19):
both the Bengals and the Jets. The fourth player, I
need you, in thirty seconds to name the other three
the other three players to throw a touchdown pass for
both the Bengals and the Jets. Steve, are you ready.
Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
Ready to go?
Speaker 1 (01:13:37):
Tarn hit the timer, Steve, start throwing me names.
Speaker 18 (01:13:43):
I'm gonna go with Jeff Blake, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
One, there's one.
Speaker 18 (01:13:48):
And how about how about how about the boom?
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
There's two? You got one more?
Speaker 18 (01:13:54):
I'm sorry, Jeff Blake.
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
No, no, not Jeff Blake, No I need one more.
Oh no, We'll just start throwing names at me. Think
of quarterbacks. Just spit them outs. David quil Man, all right, well, Stevens,
here's a lot of pressure. Hang tied, Steve. Now that's okay.
So Jeff Blake did throw passes for both the Bengals
(01:14:19):
and Jets, but he did not throw a touchdown pass
in his three games he played with New York. So
the only four players to complete a touchdown pass for
both the Bengals and Jets are Joe Flacco, Boomeersis and
Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Neil O'Donnell. Neil O'Donnell who played for
the Bengals in nineteen ninety eight. He won a fake
spike game against the Steelers that year, and tarn here's
(01:14:42):
where I need you to make an executive decision. Steve
was put under a lot of pressure. We did not
prepare him for that game because twenty minutes ago I
did not know we would be playing it. In the
spirit of generosity and fairness, should we give both Steve
and Mark a pair of tickets to go see Nate Bargatzi.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
Yes, let's do it, all right, Steve, you.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
Can thank tarn. Now do you want to take Amy
Wagner to go see Nate Bargozzi.
Speaker 18 (01:15:11):
Let's go, Taran and absolutely Amy's welcome to come along.
Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
All right, Well, we'll put you on hold. And then
Mark did absolutely nothing, and yet you're gonna go see
Nate Bargotzi. Do you want to take Amy Wagner to
go see Nate on on Sunday night?
Speaker 7 (01:15:25):
I should probably take my wife.
Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
Okay, Well that's probably for the best. Mark that that's
a good call. All right, Thank you, Mark and Steve.
Hang tight, Terrean's gonna get your information and you both
are gonna go see that show. And that spares us
from having for me having to come up with another
dumb trivia game in the five o'clock hour. Congratulations to
you both. You're both gonna go to the show on Sunday.
Might be sitting next to each other. Hell, I don't know.
(01:15:46):
There you go. Uh, this is what happens when neither
Taran or I go to rehearsal.
Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
Well, big day here in the office.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
Yeah, big big day in the office. We have a
new boss, big day in the office, and that got
in the way of attending rehearsal. Danny Kanell is going
to join us to talk some college football in ten
minutes on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 8 (01:16:10):
Win a thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Do this to this nationwide keyword on our website, win win.
That's win win.
Speaker 11 (01:16:17):
Enter it now.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
I think you should do that. Four after five ESPN
fifteen thirty mo weglar. Thanks for listening. It's the bud
Light five o'clock happy hour. Thanks to bud Light, I'm
ready for one. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy. We
enjoyed talking with Richard Skinner from Local twelve. He will
(01:16:40):
be with us in fifteen minutes on the Bengals and
Trey Hendrickson and Tyrod Taylor and the Jets. So much
more talk Cam Taylor, Britt DJ Turner might just talk
about every player on both teams rosters. I don't know
that coming up in five twenty. By the way, don't
forget one hour from now, it's a Bengals game plan
with Dan Horde and soon newly minted Ring of Honor
(01:17:02):
inductee Dave Lapham Ted Carris will be their special guest
between six and eight tonight on ESPN fifteen thirty. I
love that we do this. We get him three four
times a year during the college football season. Our guy
Danny Canell joins us thanks to bet Online. Go to
bet online dot ag for updated college football, Playoff, Heisman
(01:17:24):
and college Football Week nine lines. It's awesome to have you.
I'm looking at bet online. I see Cincinnati at plus
seven hundred to win the Big twelve. Talk me into
that or talk me out of it?
Speaker 15 (01:17:35):
Danny, oh Man, I think it's pretty good value, right,
I mean, I think people are still sleeping on the Bearcats.
My man, Brandon Soersby has been bawling. I don't think
he's getting anywhere near the amount of attention that he
should be getting. He has been awesome, and if you.
Speaker 16 (01:17:54):
Take away, you know, one bad play.
Speaker 15 (01:17:57):
Against Nebraska, this team is really close to being undefeated.
But Sorsby's got eighteen touchdowns in one interception, and he's
got six rushing touchdowns. By my math, that's twenty four
total touchdowns and one interception. Why isn't he getting any
Heisman love? I get why? Because you're not in the market,
(01:18:17):
you know, or you're not a traditional blue blood.
Speaker 16 (01:18:19):
But I'm serious.
Speaker 15 (01:18:20):
He's playing quarterback as good as anybody in the country.
They're playing some great football. And if the Big Twelve,
I mean, we all we've been proven wrong all season long.
We all thought, oh it's Texas Tech, head and shoulders
above the field.
Speaker 16 (01:18:34):
Oh it's Texas Tech.
Speaker 15 (01:18:35):
Texas Tech goes and loses last week, I say, why
not the Bearcat?
Speaker 16 (01:18:40):
So I am not trying to talk you out of
that one.
Speaker 15 (01:18:43):
Of course, the Texas Tech game would be the only
one that they would have to face in the Big
Twelve championship. Don't have them in the regular season. But
we just saw Utah get beat by BYU. You can
handle them BYU. You guys play at home, like, why
not at the nip you could see it happening. Now
you're thinking about I'm about to take a bet on
the Bearcats here to win the Big Twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
See there you go, you're speaking my language. By the way,
two fifty to one to win the college football playoff,
It's that's not something I thought I would be looking at.
A long way to go, but it's been a fun
season so far. We were talking about this yesterday. Ohio
State gets talked about a lot in this part of
the country. I'm not sure in recent years nationally there
(01:19:23):
has been a less discussed number one team in the
nation through this part of the season.
Speaker 15 (01:19:28):
Yeah, I would tend to agree. I think you saw
this happen last year with Georgia. They were just everybody
knew they'd be in the College Football Playoff and you're
kind of like, yeah, we'll talk about them when it matters.
But Georgia wasn't as dominant as Ohio State has been
this year. I just was in Madison, Wisconsin, so I
saw the buck guys in person. Of course, it was
(01:19:49):
not a great game, completely lopsided, but that we haven't
seen a lot of teams that are just handling their
business every single week. We've seen a lot of teams
overlook opponents, they underwhelm.
Speaker 16 (01:20:01):
Ohio State has not done that, and I think this team.
Speaker 15 (01:20:05):
I talked to Jeremiah Smith after the game and he
said he thinks this team is better than last year's
and it is really hard to argue against when you
look at the totality of the roster. I think last
year's run game was a little bit better, and the
offensive line was a little bit better. But outside of that,
the defense is putting up historic numbers. You know, they
(01:20:25):
put another shutout last week, which was really impressive. My
big concern for Ohio State, and this is similar to
sort of some of those great teams that we've seen,
you know, traditionally, it's do they get battle tested before
they have to play against potentially Indiana and the Big
Ten or if they have to play against Alabama and
(01:20:46):
the College Football playoff because they're so good, Like, it's
just you wonder if that's gonna matter, because they won't
have many opportunities to be in a fourth quarter game
where you look up at the scoreboard it's like, oh crap,
we got to get this thing going.
Speaker 16 (01:21:01):
They might not have.
Speaker 15 (01:21:02):
To face that type of adversity, which is like rich
people problems, right, Like it's a problem that.
Speaker 16 (01:21:07):
Everybody would love to have.
Speaker 15 (01:21:08):
But I cannot say enough about how impressed I was
the Buckeyes, Julian saying is playing like a seasoned veteran.
I love the way they've kind of they've taken you know,
they kind of have slow played it. It's like a restaurant.
They have a soft opening. I think that's what they
did early in the season, and then now they're kind
of just throwing everything at him and he is flourishing.
Speaker 16 (01:21:26):
It has just been.
Speaker 15 (01:21:27):
Really, really impressive the Buckey's what they've been able to do.
Speaker 1 (01:21:30):
When you were in Madison, if I would have told
you that at this time this week, Luke Fickle will
still be employed, you would have said, what.
Speaker 15 (01:21:37):
I'm pretty astounded, especially considering the pulse. You know, you
get a pretty good pulse when you're on the ground.
Even before the game, fans were like, yeah, we probably
have to make a change, and then you know, at
the airport after everyone's like, well, it's got to happen today,
and then no, you get the statement of support from
the athletic director. So I'm surprised, but I'm also surprised
(01:21:57):
at how bad it's been. I thought Luke Fickle was
an a higher you know, when grade the Highers, I
thought he was a great fit at Wisconsin. I do
think they're starting to learn they have a lot of
making up to do in the nil landscape, and their
schedule has been brutal, and he's had horrible quarterback look.
So I know, the athletic director said they're going to
try to give him some more resources, give more money,
(01:22:18):
but my goodness, I don't think it's gonna get I
think it's gonna get worse before it gets better. And
that's going to take a tremendous amount of fortitude for
that athletic director to continue to back Luke Fickle the
way they've lost the fan base.
Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
Danny Knell is with us thanks to bet Online again.
Check out betonline dot ag for updated college football, Playoff,
Heisman and College Football Week nine lines. Stay in the
Big ten with me. Last year, it felt like Indiana
was a really neat story. This year, it feels like
they're a powerhouse. Fernando Mendoza the odds on favorite to
win the Heisman Trophy. Do you take the Hoosiers seriously
(01:22:51):
as national championship contenders?
Speaker 16 (01:22:53):
Absolutely?
Speaker 15 (01:22:54):
And I would say why, like and maybe if they
didn't do what they did to Oregon, probably be waiting
for them to prove it one more time, like we.
Speaker 16 (01:23:03):
Need to see it.
Speaker 15 (01:23:04):
But they I thought of Oregon. I still think Oregon is
a really good football team. That was a pretty convincing win.
I mean they won by ten, but I think the
style of it, the way they were able to control
both lines of scrimmage.
Speaker 16 (01:23:16):
That was really really impressive.
Speaker 15 (01:23:18):
Kurtsing that he's a great football coach, and I still
think it's very similar to what's going on at Vanderbilt.
People need to erase everything you've known about Indiana for
the last fifty years.
Speaker 16 (01:23:28):
There's a couple of reasons why.
Speaker 15 (01:23:29):
One, they've done a great job and they're going on
their second season kind of putting a stamp one they
did last year. But this is a new landscape of
college football, Like you don't have just windows where you
can win, where you get lucky with a good class
or a good quarterback. They actually have resources and they
have the revenue share and they've got the portal. So
I think Indiana is here to stay. And I do
(01:23:50):
think Fernando Mendoza is pretty special. They still have a
lot of players that were on last year's team that
were holdovers from James Madison, which was a championship level player.
So yes, I think Indian is a team that could
win the national championship.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
In college football, we've seen a lot of coaches get
fired with large buyouts, most notably James Franklin, who's being
paid nearly fifty million dollars to not work. Some view
that as this is a sign that the sport is
really really healthy, and some view this as this is
a sign that the sport is in trouble, and it's
not so much the money going to the players. What's
your take?
Speaker 15 (01:24:23):
No, all I know is I don't want to hear
any athletic directors or school presidents complaining about finances, right, Like,
you've got to stop saying, oh, we're we're at a
point of crisis. Well, if there is a crisis, it's
on you, guys, like you're the ones that are handing
out these contracts with these ridiculous guarantees and ridiculous buyouts.
And I don't think it changes. I think it's the
(01:24:45):
sport is in a great spot. I mean it really is.
The ratings are up, the players are making money, the
expanded playoff has brought a lot of hope to a
lot of programs. So I think the sport is in
a great spot. I mean, the coaches just have more
pressure on them than ever before, or in large part
because of these salaries, because of the money that they're making.
So I think until athletic directors start getting smarter and
(01:25:07):
don't get raked over the coals by these agents with
all the leverage that they have. You're just gonna see
these continue to escalate, and you're gonna see coaches make
a lot of money, either to coach or to not coach.
It's just a matter of what where they're gonna be
or on television, you know, talking about the sport. But
either way, they're gonna make a lot a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
All right, one more, really quick. I ask you this
every time look at that online. I don't want a favorite.
Give me a dark horse. Give me a long shot
with value, whether it's the National Championship or whether it's
the Heisman Trophy. Give me one of those where I
could get some value for my wager spend.
Speaker 16 (01:25:44):
On how long you want to go?
Speaker 15 (01:25:45):
I would say the Miami Hurricanes, and I it was
ugly right. They lost on the national stage. It was
Friday night kind of standalone game. I still thought they
were National championship worthy before. And it's just you've got
to really put a lot of trust in Carson Beck
that he's not going to have that type of game
because he had four interceptions. The three of them were
(01:26:06):
horrendous decisions. A couple of them were great plays, but
I still think that team has an offensive and defensive
line that are very special. I think Oregon I would
put in that same category, but Oregon's only nine to one.
If you want to go a little bit longer, fourteen
to one, Like I would not waste your money on Texas.
Think Arch Manning still has significant growth to go Texas Tech.
I worry a little bit about their.
Speaker 16 (01:26:27):
Competition Ole missus defense. I don't trust them, So I
would say Miami at fourteen to one.
Speaker 15 (01:26:32):
And this is from a seminal, So you got to
consider this like, this is me giving a lot of
love to a program that I don't like.
Speaker 16 (01:26:38):
I'll save Miami's not bad value here at fourteen to one.
Speaker 1 (01:26:42):
Learn more bet online, dot ag get updated college football, Playoff,
Heisman and college football Week nine lines. Stanny Canell kind
enough to join this. Always awesome to have you. I
hope we can do it before the season ends. Appreciate it, man,
Thanks so much.
Speaker 15 (01:26:56):
Oh we will we might be talking about Cincinnati and
college fotball player.
Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Yes, yes, we will. Yeah, and I might need a
half hour with you if that happens. Danny, thank you,
definitely all right, Well, let's see you you got it
plus twenty five hundred. By the way, for the Bearcats
to win the national title. First things first, beat Baylor
on Saturday. Cincinnati, for what it's worth, a five and
a half point favorite against the Bears a quarter after
(01:27:21):
five on ESPN fifteen thirty. Bengals and Jets on Sunday.
By the way, remember that game is on ESPN fifteenthree.
We you know, we carry all the Bengals games. Home
of the Bengals Official Home of the Bengals. No one
covers the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty. May have heard
that as well our pregame coverage with Ken Brew, Tony Pike,
and myself, Ken and Tony and I remember the last
(01:27:41):
home game. The last Sunday home game was a four
o'clock game, so it was just me and Tony. So
the last one o'clock home game was the Jags game. Right,
I think I have that correct, Yeah, I do. Think
of everything that has happened since Ken Brew, Tony and
I did a show with the Grail together that day,
(01:28:01):
Joe Burrows started that feels like forever ago Tony has
been let go. He has come back lots happened, and
it'd be great to be together at the Holy Grail
on Sunday morning before the Bengals Jets game starting at
nine am. And it'll be great to chat with Richard
Skinner from Local twelve. He joins us next.
Speaker 17 (01:28:21):
No one covers the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's

Postman Law and Vice Skyline Chile on ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
Twenty three after five this is ESPN fifteen thirty on Wednesdays.
At this time, we're joined by our guy, Richard Skinner
from Local twelve in Local twelve dot com and the
host of the Skinny podcast, as we talk about the Bengals.
Hi Skinny, Hi Moe.
Speaker 7 (01:29:36):
How are you. I'm good. I hear you have a
new boss. Is the same as my old boss?
Speaker 1 (01:29:40):
It is? It is? And I actually, literally five minutes ago,
just said high to him for the first time.
Speaker 7 (01:29:47):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (01:29:48):
He's a very nice man, very nice man. He did
wonder why I was having you on, So I'm I
don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:29:52):
I might call it a month and that part wouldn't
shock me.
Speaker 1 (01:29:58):
Uh, very good. Do you think Hendrickson's gonna play on Sunday?
Speaker 7 (01:30:02):
Yes, you asked me that last week and I said
I wasn't sure. I think I even said, when you're
not practicing at that point, you're probably not gonna play.
I heard my I said, might betray you on with
Lance later that night, who said I think he's gonna play.
I'm like, oh, okay, maybe I missed something and he did,
and I mean it. I think I told you last year.
I think that was just such a short turnaround. That
it was almost impossible for that to happen. He was
(01:30:23):
limited today. I saw him to do drill stuff. That's
a that's a great first sign. That makes sense on
a first Wednesday practice after a game, even though that
game was last Thursday. I guess he would go full tomorrow.
If he doesn't, maybe there's a.
Speaker 18 (01:30:36):
Little alarm bells.
Speaker 7 (01:30:36):
He probably will still be listed as questionable on the
injury report if he If he is limited tomorrow, but no,
I think he absolutely plays.
Speaker 1 (01:30:43):
Who's the Joe Flacco of the Bengals defense?
Speaker 7 (01:30:47):
Wow, well, that person probably wouldn't be on the roster
at the moment. You have to you'd have to go
out and get that first. Who who would be the
Joe Black on the defense? Maybe it's a safety from
somewhere else, because they sure could you help back there?
Don't forget, there's no problem back there is.
Speaker 3 (01:31:03):
You know, we're good.
Speaker 18 (01:31:05):
We don't.
Speaker 7 (01:31:06):
We don't do your dress. That group. That's an interesting
one because I I do wonder let's just go for
safety sake. Here you're five and four to buy, which
is basically the trade deadline, and you realize, okay, we're
five and four, but man, we are we we we
have to acknowledge the flaws on defense. What would you
what would you pay for a safety? From a trade
capital standpoint, I think you have to really look into that.
(01:31:29):
I don't think you can invest anymore in the defensive line,
even though you probably need to. I mean, my goodness, gracious,
you've invested enough with two first round picks who aren't
doing anything at the moment. And I know Shamar Stewart
just came back, but he was not very good the
other night. He looked like a guy who hadn't played
in a while. You paid for t J. Slayton, you
paid for DJ Hills. I just I don't think you're
spending there. You like your two rookie linebackers. The problems
are just rookies. So yeah, I mean maybe if somebody
(01:31:53):
who is not on this roster that's a safety. I
think that's the position that they need, need some desperate
help at the moment.
Speaker 1 (01:31:58):
Until then, you know, short leash for Logan Wilson, although
it's not like he didn't play against Pittsburgh, but shortly
for him as a starter, he's in packages.
Speaker 7 (01:32:08):
Yeah, there're four to three base he's in there.
Speaker 1 (01:32:10):
Isn't there I wouldn't. I wouldn't call Cam Taylor Briggs lee. Sure,
but they did bench him right. He was a healthy scratch.
And yet Geno Stone can play unchallenged. How bad are
the guys behind him?
Speaker 7 (01:32:22):
Yeah? Well my boss asked me that too. Of of
you know what, what what would it take? And I
mean Tyson Anderson just has no real live game experience.
I know you can argue, well, you don't get it
till you get it. I I understand that, but I
think it best in this league. Tyson is an emergency safety.
He's a great special teams player, and that's a niche.
I mean, you can carve out a career. Can black
(01:32:45):
On the kid in New England who carved out a
long career doing that as a special teams player. I
mean those guys have done that. Stee Tasker did. Although
he's a he's a pretty good wide receiver too, primarily
a special teams guy. P J. Jowles is literally just
a special teams guy. So those are your backups. And
that's why you just you can't even though what you
see is not good. I mean you could maybe maybe
(01:33:06):
this Jets game, you get up and you go, let's
just see what some snaps look like, because I think
you have to find that out because it's just not working.
Jordan battles hit or miss. At least he sometimes hit,
you know, so don't just he's on struggles. I mean,
honestly know. I they had a better solution. I think
he'd get the Cam Taylor Brick treatment at this point
of Man, you got to clear your head and figure
this stuff out because they ain't working for you.
Speaker 1 (01:33:26):
No, not at all. Who are the starting guards going
to be?
Speaker 7 (01:33:31):
I'm gonna guess Dylan Fairchild and Jalen Rivers. I will
say Jalen Rivers is almost in cement, to be honest with,
like he's cemented himself. I thought Dalton Risers played pretty
good at left guard. I think the proofs in the
pudding of the last two games, both from a pass
protection standpoint when they allow three facts and minimal pressures
and like one hundred dropbacks go round number one hundreds
(01:33:51):
like ninety eight but basically around number of one hundred,
that's pretty good. And the pressures haven't been there either,
So he's been part of that group. They finally ran
the ball well. This last game kind of went it
pretty good at times in the second half of the
game by game, and dalt Riiser was a left guard
in Boat. For me, it would almost be like, let
me just see this again. But you invest in a
whole offseason, in a whole training camp in Dylan Fairchild.
(01:34:14):
And I know that's a risk that you're playing two
Rocky Cards and two rookie linebackers. But if I were
to bet, I would bet Dylan gets a start. But
I wonder if the leish is short, like, if this
doesn't go well for two or three or four series,
you go, now, we need to go with what we've
at least seen the last few weeks. Adult wasn't very good.
I mean, don't lost his job as the right guard, right.
(01:34:35):
I mean you wat after the Minnesota game to Jalen Rivers.
But then, for whatever reason, he's worked out pretty well
at left guard. Maybe it's a better spot for him.
I don't know, he's played both in his career, but
he's certainly a settling at that spot. And then, oh,
by the way, Lucas Patrick, I thought he was gonna
start the last game at left guard. I really did.
I thought that it was he's back. You know, he
did pretty well, right, guard and the opener we like
our right guard, let's put him at left guard and
(01:34:56):
it was Dalton Risers. But I'm I'm guessing with Dylan
healthy that he gonna get the crack. But maybe they go.
You know, I'm not messing with a good thing at
the moment. Until I have to mess with it, I'm
not messing with it again.
Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
Yeah, the key for me is how well they ran it?
And all right, Dylan Fairchild might be a terrific long
term solution. I think there's a decent chance of that happening.
But here's one for go with the hot hand.
Speaker 7 (01:35:18):
I'm with you and the other part. I said this
to a couple of people to day that because we
were actually bouncing that around. Of again, let's just say
you decided Dylan's Dylan's the guy that he's gonna start,
and let's just say for whatever reason, he struggles and
then you pull him. And then at that point, where
is he at From a confidist perspective of like, oh
my gosh, they don't believe in me. And I know
that's not what you're thinking, But if you're thinking the
(01:35:38):
long term, you're thinking Dylan Fairschold is going to be
a starter long term. And if you're thinking that, in
my opinion, just ride the hot hand till it's not
hot anymore.
Speaker 1 (01:35:46):
Uh. We're on the same page there, Thank you as always,
and uh we'll talk next week.
Speaker 7 (01:35:52):
Thanks book.
Speaker 1 (01:35:52):
That's our guy, Richard Skinner from a Local twelve and
and Local twelve dot com. Uh, Tarren, We're gonna pla
the Wes Miller audio. We also have to play. He
had that audio of Ben Roethlisberger blaming the white pain
on the field for why Aaron Rodgers threw a pick. Yes,
all right, but boy, I have to play. This is
the only time you'll ever hear Ben Ben Roethlisberger is
a podcast.
Speaker 3 (01:36:14):
Didn't know that till last night.
Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
Bet Who in their right mind wants to listen to
a Ben Roethlisberger podcast? Like who decided the universe needed
Ben Roethlisberger's thoughts on anything? I know you could say
that about me, That's fine, but okay that aside, who
in their right mind was like, you know, the podcast space,
while crowded, there's room for the thoughts and wisdom of
(01:36:40):
Ben Roethlisberger. Like I'm gonna need a bath after listening
to this because Just the thought of Ben Roethlisberger makes
me want to take a bath. Pittsburgh Steelers fans, have
you noticed that if, like, you talk to Steelers fans
then you bring up Roethlisberger, it's kind of like, you know,
somebody talking about their drunk uncle or something, and it's like, yeah,
(01:37:00):
you did play for us, and we did win a
Super Bowl, two super.
Speaker 16 (01:37:03):
Bowls with them.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
I don't really like me her who's carving time out
of their weak to listen to Ben Roethlisberger. Well we
will because he'd be blamed the pain on the field.
And we'll all laugh at Ben because God knows that's fun.
Plus we'll hear Wes Miller after sports headlines on ESPN

This is ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:38:17):
Sports headlines are service to Kelsey cheval a home of
lifetime powertrain protection and guaranteed credit approval from their family
to yours for life kelseyshev dot com, uh Tyrod Taylor
or Justin Fields. The entire universe wants to know. Well,
Aaron Glenn, the coach of the Jets, isn't telling anybody
(01:38:39):
because he says he doesn't want to give the Bengals
a competitive advantage. So boy, the injurgue will just continue
and we'll grip this entire country, Like this entire country
is going to be focused on. I mean, like you know,
we always hear the week of the Super Bowl. We
lose so much in productivity. The NCAA tournament. Commerce will
not get done, not just with the federal govern which
(01:39:00):
is shut down, but commerce will not get done in
the United States of America tomorrow. Is everybody is kind
of paralyzed trying to figure out who's going to play
quarterback for the oh to seven New York Jets on Sunday.
Trey Hendrickson limited today, but he did kind of practice,
which is why he was limited. Bengals and Jets Sunday.
Horden Lapp Tonight Bengals game Plan on ESPN fifteen thirty.
(01:39:21):
Ted Carris will be among the guests. I think he
is the guest tonight and this I'm not here tomorrow,
so let me just take a second to congratulate Dave
Lapham and Lamar Parrish on their Ring of Honor inductions
on Sunday. Jamar Chase a Jamar Chase Jamar Chase AFC
(01:39:43):
Offensive Player of the Week for the fifth time for
his ridiculous game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also, Cedric Johnson
cleared to return to practice. That'll solve all the Bengals
pass rush issues. One o'clock Sunday on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Pre game coverage from the Holy grail Ken Brew, Tony
Pike and me starting at nine am. I think that's
(01:40:04):
like it for sports headlines. You'll hear Wes Miller in
just a second. But I did tease, as we say
in the business, this audio. Ben Roethlisberger has a podcast
which I have less than zero interest in. But this
did get as we say in the business aggregated. So
Aaron Rodgers through a couple of interceptions. One of them
was just a phenomenal play by DJ Turner where he
(01:40:26):
took the ball away from DK Metcalf and DJ Turner
in recent weeks has been awesome. There are a few
dbs in the sport playing better. And I did the
topic like two weeks ago, wondering like who are five
players I would have moved forward with. DJ Turner has
turned into one of them. Good for him. Good for
him because there were times during training camp where it
(01:40:47):
felt like he was in the doghouse. So Aaron threw
a couple of picks, one the aforementioned play by DJ
Turner and the other a pick by Jordan Battle. This
is the possible explanation offered by former Pittsburgh Steeler and
Miami Redhawk Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaker 21 (01:41:11):
So Aaron's interception, the first one, the deep one. Yeah,
I think there's an outside chance. I I know it
sounds crazy because Aaron I think, you know, he's incredibly good.
He sees everything. But the Bengals were in all white.
They painted the middle of the field white. I think
there's a chance that the safety was camouflage in the
middle of Aaron didn't seem.
Speaker 8 (01:41:29):
I think that's a there's a big chance of that.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
I didn't think of that, but that's you know, that's
what quarterbacks think and see.
Speaker 16 (01:41:36):
But I didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:41:37):
I was just upset that the interception happened.
Speaker 21 (01:41:40):
Timm you would think, like, it's not the Patriots, so
it wasn't cheating.
Speaker 1 (01:41:43):
Well, yeah, all right. There's a what is the name
of Ben Roethlisberger's podcast?
Speaker 3 (01:41:49):
What ba Holland with Ben Roethlisberger.
Speaker 1 (01:41:51):
Who's the other guy that he's talking to? Not sure,
I don't care, chef meathead and Vinnie who is it?
What's the guy looking like a chef he was talking
to right there, but I don't know who he is.
Ben Roethlisberger and some other guy in a podcast that
I will probably never listen to again. So there. Now,
Ben Roethlisberger had a great career towards the Bengals, is
(01:42:14):
going to the Hall of Fame. Fine, Like, I'll acknowledge
all that, and he is speaking from a perspective that
the rest of us don't have. Aaron Rodgers has thrown
more than eighty four hundred NFL passes in his twenty
one year NFL career, and he was thrown off by
(01:42:36):
the fact that the Bengals were wearing all white and
they painted the logo in the middle of the field white.
That's the explanation I'm supposed to believe here, not.
Speaker 3 (01:42:49):
The fact that he overthrew DK about like ten yards
right in double coverage.
Speaker 1 (01:42:52):
Right, guess a bad fro kind of giving Aaron Rodgers
some credit here. Also, someone whose podcast I would have
no interest in. Does Aaron Rodgers have a podcast?
Speaker 3 (01:43:05):
Chiro?
Speaker 1 (01:43:07):
Oh, they'll do a podcast that has like nothing to
do with football, Ben Ben Roethlisberger on Meathead and the
Dues or whoever that other guy is.
Speaker 7 (01:43:16):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:43:17):
That's the explanation. Because the field they painted it white,
and the Bengals were wearing white, and everybody in the
stands wearing white. There's do what you want with that.
I believe that strains credibility. Aaron Rodgers has played in
two hundred and fifty four NFL games, but he has
(01:43:40):
a hard time if the players are wearing white, the
fans are wearing white, and parts of the field are
painted white.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
So whoever plays Fisburg, just play where a white rest
of the year.
Speaker 1 (01:43:51):
Yeah, just you know, paint the field white, put the
fans in white where your white unis, and Aaron Rodgers
will just give you the game. All right, Well, there's
does Ben Roethlisberger's take on that particular play? Ben Roethlisberger,
By the way, we have just done more to promote
Ben Roethlisberger's podcast that we have anything else. So by
(01:44:12):
all means, go listen to the rest of that amazing episode,
and I'm sure it's great. Does Ben Roethlisberger just talk
about football? Do they dive into other topics? And what
are those topics?
Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
I will never know.
Speaker 1 (01:44:27):
Meanwhile, Wes Miller talked today. You know, he's the coach
of the Bearcats Big twelve Media days winding down in
Kansas City today. Wes's team on Friday, there was a
hell of a lot more than good including the Shawnabye
of experience. Here is Wes answering the question, Now these
are with Fran for Scilla, correct? And who else?
Speaker 3 (01:44:50):
I forget already?
Speaker 1 (01:44:51):
All right, good Fran for Scilla and some other guy
again tarn and I did not make it to rehearsal today.
Fran for Scilla and some other dude who When I
hear his voice, I might be able to tell you
who it is.
Speaker 3 (01:45:03):
Oh, we we just hear to Wes Miller.
Speaker 1 (01:45:04):
Oh, just the Wes Miller answer. So it's irrelevant who's
asking the questions?
Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
Here's Wes Miller answering the question, what gives you hope
this season.
Speaker 8 (01:45:14):
Of the league.
Speaker 22 (01:45:14):
It's not just great at the top, which it is,
it's great all the way through. There's unbelievable coaching, there's
unbelievable players.
Speaker 8 (01:45:23):
There's a lot of older players in this league.
Speaker 22 (01:45:25):
I mean, you get guys in their fourth and fifth
year that are old, tough, talented and smart. And then
this year we're going to have so many great young
players as a part of that. It's awesome though, Like
that's the there's challenges every single night, but it's an
awesome opportunity every night. I think more than anything after
two years, there's just a better perspective of how to
(01:45:46):
prepare for it. And I think that's what we've been
excited as we tack our preseason at Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (01:45:51):
All Right, So there's Wes Miller. Cincinnati last year was
two hundred and seventy second in the country in pace.
So every coach this time of year talks about wanting
to play faster. Very few coaches, especially since Tony been
into West Virginia has retired, very few coaches are like,
you know, we want to play as slow as possible.
(01:46:12):
Every coach this time of year talks about wanting to
play faster. Wes Miller had a team last year we
thought was going to play fast, two hundred and seventy
second in the country in pace. So here's Wes on
this year's team wanting to play faster this season.
Speaker 22 (01:46:27):
Trying to play with the unbelievable pace. We've always wanted
to try to push the pace as a program. This
should be the fastest we've ever played, and that we've
done that throughout our summer and our preseason, and some
of its depth, some of it is our personnel. You
don't bring kerk criesha to your team, if you don't
want to play fast.
Speaker 8 (01:46:46):
I mean he he wants to.
Speaker 22 (01:46:48):
Play fast every possession, but he also makes people want
to play fast with him because he advances the ball
so well.
Speaker 8 (01:46:54):
So I think pace will be big.
Speaker 22 (01:46:56):
We're going to be trying to be very connected on
both sides of the and it's intentional, like we're not
just saying be a connected group. We're trying to be
intentional about it from day one. And then there's an
aggressive We're at Cincinnati, there's an aggressive approach to our
community when it comes to sports.
Speaker 8 (01:47:14):
We're going to be an aggressive team.
Speaker 22 (01:47:16):
So whether that's being aggressive offensively, being aggressive on the
offensive class making sure we do some things to make
our defense more aggressive, and I think we have the
versatility defensively to do that as well.
Speaker 1 (01:47:26):
By the way he is answering questions from Matt Chick
Sean Farnham, I once ran the board for Sean Farnham
and for Fran for Schilla at Big twelve media days.
Now here's less addressing the fact that he has better
players with more skill. Skill players will call them that
will help his team score better in the half court.
Speaker 22 (01:47:47):
We had our first exhibition, and it's just an exhibition
and you guys know this stuff that don't count in October.
Speaker 8 (01:47:52):
But we scored one hundred.
Speaker 22 (01:47:53):
I don't know if we could have scored a hundred
against anybody last year. So I think we have much
more skill across the board. I think we have more
decision making just with some of the pieces that were added.
So I think we can generate offense in different ways.
We can play through the post with Mustapha Cham. I mean,
he can score down there and that's been exciting because
(01:48:15):
he's evolving as this young player. But you can throw
it to him and he can do things over both shoulders.
Jalen Haynes was a guy we were going to do
that with a lot. But we can score in the
front court Baba Miller, through the post, we can generate
through pick and roll or through space. We can generate
with cutting, and then we have a lot more shooting
as well. And you know, listen, I want to get
easy ones early in the clock and we're going to
(01:48:37):
really try to push the pace.
Speaker 8 (01:48:38):
I think that's where we can be different in all
those areas.
Speaker 1 (01:48:41):
You know, it's been described that they they're Noah's Ark.
They have two of everything. We will see. I'm really
gonna like to Shanna Bay have experience. I was gonna
like the since or Harris experience. And by the way,
he was a factor in off in that game offensively,
and he has known and understandably so for being well,
call him a defensive special. Let's do that. Let's play
(01:49:01):
one more. Wes Miller cut day A. Thomas is back.
Here's Wes on the importance of his return.
Speaker 22 (01:49:08):
Every question about Dada Thomas makes me smile and makes
me appreciate the question.
Speaker 8 (01:49:14):
What he means.
Speaker 22 (01:49:15):
Somebody said you don't have many returners. We have three,
but Dada's worth three himself. I mean, he's been in
our program now for two years. He's played two years
in the Big twelve. He represents everything that we value
in Cincinnati basketball, and he's learned now how to lead
and project those things onto his teammates.
Speaker 8 (01:49:33):
So he is so important to us. I will say
this as a player.
Speaker 22 (01:49:37):
He's playing his best basketball of his college careers healthy again,
so I'm really excited.
Speaker 8 (01:49:41):
And then Fran knows this. In our league, you're just.
Speaker 22 (01:49:45):
Going to have possessions that gets stalled, and we don't
want to have as many as we had a year ago.
But it's sometimes the chips are down and you have
to have guys that can go make a play without
an advantage. Data can do that and he's doing it
better now than he ever has. And then we have
a young player and Shawn buy if they can do
that as well.
Speaker 8 (01:50:01):
So we have a couple.
Speaker 22 (01:50:02):
Guys for the first time that the chips will be down,
and it's gonna be fun to watch them go create
offense when offense isn't there.
Speaker 1 (01:50:08):
We you know, it's Wes Miller, a big twelve media days.
What we should do is get Ben Roethlisberger's thoughts on
everything like college basketball WHEK and be like, oh, well,
the players are wearing white and they have a white out.
If they paint the court white, the other team, you're
gonna throw the ball away.
Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
I'll pass.
Speaker 18 (01:50:31):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:50:32):
You could say a lot of things about the content
of this program every day, but for the life of me,
and there's a lot of podcasts that I there's a
lot of podcasts and shows I'll give a I'll give
a shot to and it's like, ah, you know, maybe
not for me. I don't know that I can ever
imagine sitting down going. You know, Ben Roethlisberger's got a
new episode. Let's let's hear the let's hear his thoughts,
(01:50:53):
Let's get his detailed analysis.
Speaker 23 (01:50:55):
Oh oh been paint of the field. Oh we gotta
find out about his co host? Talk about a job
you don't want? You gotta do a pod with Roethlisberger.
Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
Be fun.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
We're done and uh and in just the nick of
time tomorrow on this show, I won't be here. Chad
Brendle is filling and I'm gonna take day off. But
the good news if you're like man Mo, where are
you gonna be? I am in for Lance on Friday
Night on seven hundred WLW from six to nine. So
(01:51:34):
there you go, little Friday fix. It's gonna be awesome.
Can't wait. Thanks to Taran Plan for producing, and thanks
to you for listening. Have an awesome night. Anything you
might have missed, go finding the iHeartRadio app, Go Nicks,
