(00:23):
fifteen thirty, the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Es at fifteen thirty, I have a question. I have
a lot of questions. Here's my first question. Joe Burrow
had a press conference yesterday. Would you think it weird
if he was doing like a comedy routine? Would you
think it weird if at four and eight the quarterback
of the Bengals looked like he was having a blast.
We're going to get to that show. Preview is available

(00:53):
on Twitter at moulager. Thanks to share Facts Credit Union,
you can become a member just like me and all
the member benefits of being a share Facts remember gonna
share facts dot Org. Later on this hour, Chad Brendle
on the Bearcats. You see football and basketball. Later on
I have a question for you if you're an Ohio

(01:13):
State fan and the aftermath of this fascinating Sharon Moore story,
and a question if you're a Reds fan as well.
So the national media is just losing its mind over
Joe Burrow, and I get it. I'm watching I have
FS one on in studio here and there they are
leading the show with Nick Wright and those other two
guys talking about Joe Burrow, Chris Bussard, Joe Burrow. This

(01:37):
is based on chances are you've heard this by now,
But to cover myself, I'll play the audio. Joe Burrow
his weekly media availability yesterday, looked like he was going
through some sort of existential crisis. Looked like a guy
and sounded like a guy who's not having a very
good time. Looked like a guy and sounded like a
guy who's going through it. Here is the audio from

(02:00):
yesterday's press conference in case you didn't hear it, already
change the way that.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
You threw the game.

Speaker 4 (02:06):
So no, it certainly doesn't change my desire to to win.
You know, if I want to if I want to
keep doing this, I have to have fun doing it.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
You know, I've been through a lot, and if it's.

Speaker 6 (02:33):
Not fun, then what am I doing it for?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Ah?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
So that's the mindset I'm trying to bring to the table.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Are you having right now?

Speaker 7 (02:42):
It's difficult to have fun given the season, what you've
been through, physically, emotionally, all of it.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
Is it tough? Yeah? Certainly?

Speaker 8 (02:53):
Did you have fun playing? I mean, how much of
it was fun before?

Speaker 7 (02:57):
E Winn's always fun?

Speaker 9 (02:58):
But in general?

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Was it fun?

Speaker 8 (03:00):
War got hurt?

Speaker 10 (03:02):
Did you view it that way?

Speaker 6 (03:03):
Lose?

Speaker 4 (03:04):
No, I wouldn't say. I wouldn't say I have viewed
it that way.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
I think.

Speaker 8 (03:10):
What was the changing point?

Speaker 6 (03:12):
The changing point? I'm not sure.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I'm not sure there was a a singular moment or time.
It's just a reflection, reflection on a lot of things
that I've done and been through in my career.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
I think.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
I've been through more than most and it's certainly not
easy on the the brain or the body. So muh,
it's trying to have I'm doing it again.

Speaker 11 (03:42):
You talked it's you've seen.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Like through something on your mind.

Speaker 7 (03:47):
Maybe I'm written too much into it, but seemed frustrated.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
There's a lot of things going on right now, A
lot of things going on right now, all related personally,
all the book.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
So there you go Joe Burrow yesterday, looking and sounding
like somebody who is going through it. By the way,
we have folks who are already waiting on hold because
I said at the end of the show yesterday we're
gonna get to you in the first thirty minutes, and
we are going to do that. So there's Joe Burrow
from yesterday. He's not having fun. Here's my question. Why

(04:23):
would he be having fun? They are four and nine.
This is the toy department for you and I. Sports
are fun. They're supposed to be fun. The lens through
which I look at sports is solely these are fun
and games. This is a good time. But Joe Burrow,
this is his job, it's his livelihood. His brand and

(04:45):
reputation are tied to an organization that is about to
not make the postseason for a third consecutive year. When
he plays the position where you are most judged by
how much do you win, of course he's not having fun.
The headline would be if Joe Burrow's like, dude, I'm
having a blast in the absence of winning, you would

(05:06):
expect the quarterback of the team to say I'm not
having fun. If asked now, the demeanor, the body language,
you could do what you want with that. Tony and
Austin were talking about this early and Tony said, like,
Joe Burrow doesn't do anything unintentionally. You know, we saw
it late last year, even before he started talking about
t Higgins, right the body language. He was angry, he

(05:28):
was upset, he was pissed that an MVP caliber season
was being wasted. That body language was not unintentional. What
he had to say, what he was expressing, not unintentional.
And that's before he started banging the drum for t
Higgins to come back. Do you think that Joe Burrow
a calculated guy, a dude who turned twenty nine yesterday,

(05:50):
A calculated guy, is smart guy. Do you think he
walked into that media room and then left, and then
I guess walked back in unaware of how his his
body language was going to be interpreted. Do you think
he was unaware of the fact that his way of
putting things, if you will, wasn't going to be something
that every national show took off and ran with. I

(06:12):
listened to ESPN Radio this morning on Sportsmanlike and I've
got some audio four hour show. I listened to about
two hours and twenty five minutes. I don't think they
did a segment that didn't include some Joe Burrow talk.
I turn on Colin Cowherd on TV today. He's talking
Joe Burrow. First take Joe Burrow, Pro football talk, Joe Burrow,

(06:33):
every football related Twitter feed Joe Burrow, This show that
I'm watching right now on FS one with Nick Wright
and Chris Brussard and the other guy right now, Joe Burrow.
Do you think he was unaware of how he behaved
and unaware of how what he said was going to
be taken and run with by everybody? Of course it was.

(06:55):
He knew he was sending a message. The message is clear,
not happy, not having a good time. Why would he
be losing? Isn't fun having your best efforts wasted? Isn't
fun watching ineptitude and in some cases, immaturity around you.
Isn't fun watching some of the same themes play out

(07:19):
that have been associated with your organization's failure this year.
Watching those same themes play out not fun? Watching dudes
you're better than quarterbacks? Who are you? You are superior to?
Watching them get a chance to play in games that
matter most? Not fun? Why would it be the news

(07:42):
of the day yesterday would have been had Joe Burrow
come out and said, this is great, having a blast,
everything's fine. Guess what, Everything's not fine. Here is a
quarterback who is about to miss the postseason for the
third consecutive year through basically no fault of his own.
Getting hurts not fun. Having surgery time and again is

(08:03):
not fun. Putting up a bunch of points and watching
it not be enough not fun. And so you cannot
You cannot help him or anybody else for wondering. You
know how much longer do I want to do this now?
I'm not gonna do what many are doing. Not gonna
assume that Joe Burrow wants out. I think that's unfair.

(08:25):
I'm not gonna assume that Joe Burrow is gonna do
what Andrew Luck did with the Indianapolis Colts. I'm not
gonna assume that Joe Burrow is gonna do what Carson
Palmer did fourteen years ago. That's irresponsible. I'm not gonna
do it. I'm not gonna put words in his mouth.
I'm not gonna put thoughts in his head. But I
guess two things. First this do you want to keep

(08:46):
doing this? Like if you're a Bengals fan and I am,
or if you run the team, do you want to
keep doing this? Last year, Joe Burrow was visibly not
very happy with life. Right now, Joe Burrow doesn't seem
very happy with life. The longer you go being unhappy
with life or your job or your set of circumstances,

(09:06):
the more likely you are to change those circumstances. What
did the kids say? F around and find out? I
know they don't say that verbatim. F around and find
out With Joe Burrow, he might not be asking for
a trade right now. Let's do this again in a year.
Guy's got four years left on his contract. He's gonna
turn thirty in a year. He's talked about his football

(09:29):
football mortality. He is wrapping up his sixth NFL season.
He might not be that close to the finish line,
but the finish line looks a lot closer than it
did two, three, four, or five years ago. The guy
has to be thinking about, like, am I am I
gonna be able to get everything I can out of

(09:50):
my NFL career existing in my current set of circumstances.
So maybe he doesn't want out, Maybe he's not going
to demand a trade, maybe he's not looking to engineer
his exit. But do you want to keep doing this?
Do you want to keep doing this with Joe Burrow?
I guess the other one would be put yourself in

(10:10):
his shoes? Put yourself in Joe Burrow's shoes. You look
around the NFL. You look around the league. There are
quarterbacks who aren't as good as you, who again are
gonna get a chance to play in the postseason. You
play at position where you are judged almost solely by
how much do you win. You had to listen last
year after you put together an amazing season, an MVP

(10:33):
caliber season, and there were still folks, prominent folks with
microphones with platforms who kind of pin the Bengals failures
on you. You are the face of the franchise. You
are the face of a franchise who is going to
miss the postseason in all likelihood for a third consecutive year.
You play at position and you have a job where

(10:53):
you are judged by how much do you win the
amount of time you have to play. And you've talked
about your football mortality is not infinite, not gonna play forever.
Every year is precious. Every year in your prime is precious.
Do you mean to tell me you wouldn't be thinking
in the back of your mind? Could life be better elsewhere?

(11:18):
Of course you would. Human nature dictates you would. So look,
you know, folks get mad at like Steven A. Smith,
who's you know on TV today saying Joe Burrow's done,
he wants out. Dan Orlowski was naming teams that should
be finding out a way to trade for Joe Burrow.
One of them was the Steelers. Good luck with that.
I just put yourself in his shoes. Yeah, you make

(11:40):
a lot of money, That's fine. At the end of
the day. You're a competitive guy, uber competitive guy. We've
seen over the last couple of months how hard this
guy has worked to get back on the field for
a team that is probably going nowhere. It's important to him.
Winning is important to him. Aren't you asking yourself? Can

(12:01):
I achieve all my goals here? Can I really maximize
my career here? Am I gonna be able to get
everything out of professional football that I want to get
out of professional football?

Speaker 8 (12:12):
Here?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Working here, playing here? How could you not be wondering that.
So none of this is meant to make anybody panic.
I think we would all be surprised if Joe Burrow
decided this offseason suddenly he wants out. But let's keep
doing this. Keep missing the postseason, keep wasting great performances,
keep wasting MVP caliber seasons, keep wasting games where he

(12:36):
hangs thirty three, thirty four, thirty five, forty forty points
in an opponent and losing the game. Keep doing this
because at some point, if he's not there now, he's
gonna get there. I do not believe for a second
that you just go, well, he's got four more years here,
and so, uh, you know, he's under contract, no chance,
no chance he'll ask for a trade, no chance he'll
try to find his way out. And by the way,

(12:57):
those four years, don't you want him starting to think
about signing a contract extension here before we get to
the end of those four years, Like legitimately, the time
we start talking about another contract for Joe Burrow, ain't
that far away. Think he's going to be open to
it If the losing, the lack of competitiveness, the wasted

(13:17):
seasons continue, of course, he's not having fun and the
longer you go without having fun, the more you want
to change to something that is fun. I absolutely believe
that he on purpose sent a message yesterday. I think
it's been well received by you, and I hasn't been
well received by the people who run the franchise. Eighteen

Speaker 13 (16:00):
Yeah, I just passed Havingam Illinois.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Wow. Very nice, very nice.

Speaker 9 (16:05):
Now you you.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Tweeted, you tweeted, take it gets excited?

Speaker 8 (16:09):
Yeah you you.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
You sent a tweet to Austin Toni and myself that
we're gonna be trying to keep you awake this afternoon,
which that's a heavy responsibility. Okay, I'll do my best.

Speaker 14 (16:20):
Thanks.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Because you are driving. You are driving to Saint Louis
to retrieve your van that broke down in the middle
of nowhere, Missouri during a drive home from Thanksgiving from Arkansas.
After Thanksgiving, this sounds like a country song, Kate.

Speaker 13 (16:34):
That's you know, that's my middle name Kate Grandma road
Trip Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Hey, get this.

Speaker 13 (16:41):
It was a it was a two hour record toe
with my twenty one year old daughter in the cab
with me. Here, get this. The record driver had the
same name as my husband. So that's a country song
right there.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yeah, that is a country song right there.

Speaker 15 (16:58):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Well, it's it's it's it's nice to have you in
the audience. I hope we're keeping you awake. Is there
anything else besides your your tow truck driver on your mind?

Speaker 16 (17:08):
No, I'm I'm a Red beangals O High Estate fan.

Speaker 13 (17:13):
I try to be a UC fan.

Speaker 16 (17:15):
My husband and I are a divided household that comes
to Ohio State U S. So you know, if there's
any of that you want my opinion on, I love
to give people my opinion.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
From an Ohio state perspective. How do you feel about
the mess happening at Michigan right now?

Speaker 14 (17:30):
Teeter's no kee, that's for sure.

Speaker 13 (17:32):
I just you know, I have two I'm I'm fifty seven.

Speaker 16 (17:37):
I have unfortunately too many friends that well not exactly this,
and I have too many friends that this happened to
you that.

Speaker 13 (17:45):
It's like it's I just feel terrible for his wife.
I was talking to her friend this morning, literally, and
I'm like, can you believe it? And he's like, yeah, yeah,
I ken. I'm like, oh yeah, I forgot.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
So you know, it's.

Speaker 16 (18:01):
Anyway, I hope everybody else is okay, and I guess
I hope he's okay, but not really.

Speaker 9 (18:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Uh Now he seems like he seems like he was
kind of a scumbag, So I I certainly, I certainly
have have sympathy for you know, his his children and
his wife. I mean, I I just what what, I've
had a lot of bad days in my life, Kate.
I don't know that I've had a day as bad
as Sharon Moore had yesterday.

Speaker 13 (18:25):
I don't think I have either.

Speaker 16 (18:27):
And I've had some bad ones that were also of
my own making that still don't fall into that category.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
And you know, are you worried?

Speaker 13 (18:35):
Are you half arounded by out?

Speaker 2 (18:39):
That's right? That's right?

Speaker 6 (18:40):
Are are you?

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Are you worried that Joe Burrow isn't having much fun?

Speaker 16 (18:46):
I think the man probably would have would like to
leave be able to leave his house occasionally, you know.
I'm my understanding is that he is that he can't
go anywhere except football stadiums in practice fields because.

Speaker 13 (19:01):
Of you know, his fame in this area. So I'm
hoping he's not looking at like LA New York or
Miami or something where he could blend in a little
bit more when he leaves his house. You know, he's
twenty nine. He doesn't want to say at home all
day to my around.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
My stylef is well. You know, I think you make
it an interesting point because if you're Joe Burrow and
you feel kind of isolated right where you can't you
can't go to Kroger, you can't go get a meal.
And I don't know what Joe wants to do or
does do in his free time. I don't know if
he tries to go out and is too bothered. I
don't know if he feels uncomfortable. I don't know if
there are places where he feels he can blend in.

(19:39):
I don't know. But if you do feel that way,
and you feel like, you know what, the only places
I can go are my home and my job and
that's pretty much it, well, then your job better bring
you a lot of satisfaction. And when you're playing for
a team that's wasting your best effort and you're four
and nine and you're going nowhere, your team is going nowhere.
I could understand that beating you down to an even

(20:00):
larger degree than it might be somebody who could, perhaps,
as we say, have a more a better work life balance.

Speaker 15 (20:10):
Exactly exactly.

Speaker 13 (20:12):
I worked at a place where I hear act well.
I don't interact as much as you guys do with
people in this sports world, but I work at a
pace where I talk to wives and girlfriends of sports figures.

Speaker 16 (20:25):
And somebody specifically told me last week that he told
them he doesn't go anywhere, you know, during the season
when he's here, and you know he didn't leave, you know,
he didn't know anywhere when.

Speaker 13 (20:35):
He was rehabbing.

Speaker 16 (20:36):
And I'm like, I I not that I enjoy going
to Kroger all the time.

Speaker 13 (20:42):
But you know, I don't get mobs when I walk
into Karker like you probably.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Do so well, I certainly do not. But I would
imagine if you're a Joe Burrow and the only place
you feel like you can go is work, then work
better brings some degree of satisfaction and it doesn't feel
like it's bringing them all that much. Kate, good luck
with your drive thank you for trying in Thanks you
all right. And by the way, the Charon Moore story,

(21:06):
I know. I read on TMZ that they've obtained audio
stemming from the alleged Charon Moore assault where a woman
is claiming he attacked her at her home after stalking
her for months. The audio states a call was made
from a Michigan football employees And I'm reading here from TMZ,
and I do not really care to get into some

(21:29):
of the more I don't know right now, at least
unprovable details about this, but a call was made from
a Michigan football employe's address in ann Arbor around four o'clock.
The employee who had worked for the Wolverines for years
with the executive assistant to the head coach, the position
More held until he was fired for having an inappropriate relationship.
It's unclear if the employee was the woman allegedly attacked

(21:50):
her if the incident just so happened to take place
at her home. The employe's name started to try and
shortly after the news broke of More's termination, with several
unverified reports stating she was involved in the scam. Later
in the audio obtained by TMZ, a report is made
that the suspect's wife said he is suicidal, and it's
hard to make it out, but it sounds like it
is due to his losing his job today. So goes

(22:11):
on to say that the suspect has a knife. There's
a lot about this that is the exact opposite of funny,
But there is a a football application here and it's
not insignificant, uh, And we are going to talk about
it because man Ohio State fans were having a blast
yesterday and I understand it, and I would like to

(22:33):
think that the human element part of this is at
least taken into consideration. But from a football perspective, I
think sometimes I have to pay attention to who is
also enjoying this. We'll get to that a little bit
later on twenty eight from four o'clock. We don't have
Lee Sterling today, but we have room for you at
five point three seven four nine, fifteen thirty. I might

(22:53):
fill I may do this. I may fill in for
Lee Sterling. As we look ahead to the NFL weekend
with no college football beyond the Army Navy game. Sports

with our friend Lee Sterling from Paramount Sports dot com.
I talked with Lee this morning. He is unable to
join us today and so I thought I'd get a
fill in to pick a few games for you. That
fill in is gonna be me. Let's take Tampa Bay tonight.
Let's lay the number four and a half. This is

(24:56):
a must win game for the Buccaneers. The Falcons are
a mess. Last week. They had a hard time against
Tyler Shuck, who could run the ball. Kirk Cousins cannot.
Will take Tampa Bay. I will lay the points. I
like Cleveland to cover the number. I think this number
is too big. Chicago is better, but Shadora Sanders did
play well last week. Browns have an edge at pass rusher.
They're good in pass coverage, a little bit too good

(25:18):
for Caleb Williams and company. I will take the seven
and a half points. I'll lay the nine and a half.
With Houston, this to me is gonna be the biggest
blowout of the weekend. The Cardinals come here in a
couple of weeks. I have no idea how they score
against that Houston defense. Number is also a big Seattle
and Indy. I think this number is huge. Even if
Daniel Jones is healthy. They'll lay the thirteen and a half.

(25:40):
As a general rule, we stay away from big numbers
in the NFL. We're not going to do it here.
I think Seattle clobbers Indy. I'll lay the points and
I will take the two and a half with Cincinnati.
Joe Burrow he was good. He was good as the
game went on against Baltimore. He was better for the
most part last week against Buffalo. This is a Baltimore team.

(26:01):
They've given up fifty nine points and they've allowed over
five hundred passing yards the last couple of weeks. Some
of those were to old Aaron Rodgers. Baltimore's offense doesn't
look very good. They haven't scored more than thirty since
week two. I'm not sure I'm willing to go money
line here, though I am tempted, but I will take
the points. Give me the Bengals covering against Baltimore. There

(26:22):
you go, there you go. You can hold me accountable
like we hold the accountable. Let's see here, Chad Brenda,
Chad Brendle in a few minutes. In the meantime, Mike,
go ahead, You're on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 15 (26:36):
So thank you, Mom. Appreciate that the lady that's just
called from her car. Whenever they mentioned Kroger's, it takes
me back to when you set me up at Kroger's
more than once back in the day. So I just
thought i'd mentioned that.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
For those who don't remember. You were so excited about
the money that our picks made you. This is back
when you used to be nice to me, and you
were at waiting on holding Kroger and we had you
buy groceries for somebody in line because you were so
grateful for the money we made you.

Speaker 15 (27:09):
Of course, yeah, well things have changed a lot since then,
my friend, which leads me into my next question. But
I did appreciate all the tips and and and sweet
sweet wagers that you gave me. But when it comes
to Joe's press conference yesterday, and and I you were

(27:30):
saying earlier his football mortality, I don't know.

Speaker 8 (27:36):
Where to go with that.

Speaker 15 (27:37):
I guess none of us do. But I can understand
I'm going through a much more serious situation recarding mortality.
But but I can see, you know, you know, Joe's
mind got to be more wandering to a certain degree
because he knows how good he is. He knows that sure,

(27:58):
and I'm sure he wants a rain like everybody does.
And so you know, I, well, it's just hard to read,
isn't it.

Speaker 6 (28:07):
Mo.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
I don't think it's that hard to read. And I'm
not going to try to psychoanalyze the guy. I'm not
qualified to do it. I don't want to do it.
But like, just put two and two together. He's a quarterback.
He's had to undergo surgery time and again. While he's
been a Bengal for over half of his NFL years,
the Bengals have been on the outside looking into the postseason.

(28:30):
They've had a lot of games where he has played
great and they haven't won. They've had seasons where he's
played great and they haven't won, like there's there's a
lot there, and then you he's no longer in year
two or three. He is closing it on thirty. He
probably has if he wants to play another eight years,
eight really good seasons, eight really good season in front
of him if he stays healthy. But you know, I'm

(28:55):
sure he can see the end, and I'm sure he
does understand he's only gonna get so many cracks at it.
And you can't help but think that he's I think
any of us would be wondering, am I really going
to be able to get everything I want out of
my NFL career here? How could you not feel that way?
And so to me, the body language last year and
this year, the way he's answered questions would suggest that,

(29:17):
at least in the back of his mind is some
level of doubt that he could really achieve what he
wants to achieve in his career if he spends all
of it or most of it in Cincinnati.

Speaker 15 (29:29):
No, I agree. It just makes me so damn sad,
though it really does, because he's such a good dude
and he's so talented. It just kisses me. Okay, let's
get to Kevil Marte real quick and the comments made yesterday.
This guy's top five second base on all the MLB.
This guy is really talented. I can't remember where you

(29:53):
left it yesterday. And Matt mcclaying God loving is still
unproven in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
That's putting it loud to that. Yeah, I mean, if
I could have to tell Marte or Matt mcclan, I
know who I'm taking exactly.

Speaker 15 (30:08):
So is there so the money would be I mean,
is it even worth talking about mo or because it
would be a little less money than Sworeber or is
it just something that won't happen.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Well, I guess I'm not going to say it's not
going to happen. What you have to wonder is what
are the Reds willing to give up? How long is
their list of untouchables? So with could tell Marte what
you would be on the hook for. Is his contract
for the rest of the decade? Now that Max is
out at twenty two mil, he would make fifteen mil
this year. It's a significant amount of money. I don't

(30:44):
know if the question is as much about Doe as
much about cash as it is who would they be
willing to give up and I don't know. I don't
know who's a non starter for them. I don't know who.
If you're in a trade discussion with the Reds, who
they say, Uh, we're not trading that guy no matter what.
But yeah, we got a phone call yesterday from someone
I think it was Ron from Milford, who's a very
loyal caller, who basically kind of laughed at the idea

(31:07):
of going after can tell Marte and I'm like, do
you know how good that guy is? And then you
would know a thing for some past prime Dude, he's awesome,
He's terrific, Like he's been a Silver Slugger Award win
in the last couple of years, finished third in the
MVP voting two years ago. His home run total would
have easily led the Reds last season. Like, dude, of

(31:28):
course you would want him. The question is how much
are the Reds really willing to give up in order
to get him? And none of us said, they answered, Mike,
I got a run, man.

Speaker 15 (31:38):
George is gonna kill us. Georgia is going to kill you.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
See this week, brother kill us.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
I don't have a very good feeling about it, Mike.
I will be completely honest about that all right? Chad

Speaker 6 (34:49):
Him, how's it going well?

Speaker 2 (34:52):
From the perspective of what you talk about? Not good?
Can you hear me?

Speaker 6 (34:57):
Yeah? I got you?

Speaker 9 (34:58):
I got you jump a little the aid there for
a second. Now, things aren't great right now? What's the
what's the one gift I use all the time?

Speaker 6 (35:06):
Not great?

Speaker 9 (35:07):
Bob that's the sad of the things right now.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
It is.

Speaker 10 (35:13):
It is so.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
From a pure basketball perspective, like I know that the
moment the shootout ended, folks advance the conversation to what's
going to happen with Wes, and I understand that I do.
That makes total sense. But from a basketball perspective, they
do have a high major game on Saturday, another one
a week from Sunday, and then the entire Big twelve season.

(35:38):
How does this get fixed? What can a coach do
with the personnel they have to somehow get this season
back on track.

Speaker 9 (35:47):
Number One, They've got to figure out the execution issue
on offense.

Speaker 6 (35:53):
It's just bad, like the they're.

Speaker 9 (35:56):
Turning it over too much, they're not shooting the three
ball well, they're bad at the free throw line. Like
there's not any any metric that you can look at
that gives you confidence in the way that they're playing
offense right now. And if they can get that fixed,
the defense is good enough, contrary to the frustration with

(36:19):
Tarzan treating them like Jane for thirty points, like there
is hope if they can figure things out offensively. It's
just not been a strength of west Miller's in his
coaching tenure. So I don't have a lot of faith
in it, but you know, you've got an opportunity right now.

(36:42):
Georgia and Clemson are twenty four and twenty five in
Ken Tom, So the opportunity is there to get this
thing back on track. If you go into conference play
and you've got to win over Dayton, who's solid, and
you've got wins over Clemson in Georgia, you've at least
got something to work with.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
If they go oh and two, it's gonna be a
long twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Now what is the offense supposed to look.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
Like with this group?

Speaker 9 (37:17):
I'm not sure, Like that's the hard part. Yeah, you know,
with with the group that they had last year, most
of those guys have been there two three years, Like.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
You understood the basics of like what they were trying
to do.

Speaker 9 (37:36):
Now it feels like pass around the perimeter, try to
get downhill, usually unsuccessfully, and then shoot a late shot
clock three. And that's just not that's not good offense.
That's you know, there was there was a little bit
in the Tarton State game where the ball kind of

(37:57):
popped and it like, you know, how you want offense
to look, and there was a little bit in that
second half of the Xavier game where it did. But
it's not happening over forty minutes. It's happening in five
and ten minute stretches, and against teams like Georgia and Clemson,

(38:18):
five and ten minute stretches aren't going to get the
job done.

Speaker 6 (38:21):
So you're not seeing the defense move.

Speaker 10 (38:24):
Side to side.

Speaker 6 (38:25):
You're not seeing.

Speaker 9 (38:27):
Really any like scramble where you can tell like the
defense is a path behind, which is where you want
things to be. It just doesn't feel fluid. I know,
you know, you've got a whole new team, but that's
that's my biggest problem though, is yeah, you've got a
whole new team, but if you look around the country,
these groups that are new have had kind of a

(38:52):
steady upward trend, and I don't feel like we've had
a steady upward trend with this offense. I feel like
it's actually like you could make the argument, moo, the
best this team has looked was then Exhibition number one. Yeah,
and it's been kind of flat to a decline ever
since then.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Well and and folks aren't going to like this. Richard
Patino doesn't have an overly talented team. I've watched them
get better. I mean, I can tell you what it's
supposed to look like. Now, you know, they have some
guys who might not be great at finishing at the rim,
maybe some guys who has struggled to get their shots off.
Like but but I that's a new group. That's a

(39:32):
new group that is coalescing. And not every group coalesces
at the same right, But like that, to me, that's
what was so striking about Friday Night is over here
there is a team that has severe talent limitations, but
I'm seeing it come together. I'm seeing I'm seeing collective
improvement and a bunch of individuals that are coming together.

(39:52):
And that over here, I watch a team where I ask,
what is this supposed what it's good? What is it
supposed to look like?

Speaker 5 (39:59):
You?

Speaker 2 (40:00):
You in this day and age. I just I don't
think you can you can play the card all that often.
Well the group is all new that just in this
day and age, that's not gonna work. And it's really
not gonna work when you're getting beaten by your arch
rival that has figured out a way to make it work,
at least to a degree, with a whole new team.

Speaker 9 (40:17):
But here's the bigger concern though, coming into that game,
the way that they had figured out to make it
work is not how they won the.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Shootout, right, yes, correct, that he kept ram them.

Speaker 6 (40:30):
Off the three point line.

Speaker 10 (40:31):
Like you know, they had gotten back into.

Speaker 9 (40:34):
To being successful by making thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, well twice
they made sixteen threes.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
And since Nati took that away and they still.

Speaker 9 (40:45):
Had a counter, they still had an answer. And you know,
if you look at it, Cincinnati shot way better from
three than Xavier did, since that he only turned it
over nine times. Zagers shot terribly from the free throw line, Like,
but then you give them, you allow them to shoot
sixty seven percent from two, and since that he's supposed

(41:06):
to have one of the better two point defenses in
the country. And they took it right at your strength
and beat you, and you didn't have an answer, And
that is wildly concerning. And the other part, mo and
this has been a thing for unfortunately, it's been a
thing for five years.

Speaker 6 (41:27):
They got the lead by one and then crumbled.

Speaker 9 (41:33):
Instead of built our way back, built our way back,
built our way back. And even if it just becomes
like a heavyweight fight of two teams standing in the
middle of the ring swinging at each other.

Speaker 6 (41:44):
That's not what happened.

Speaker 9 (41:45):
They immediately give up a wide open three to let
Zavier go back up two, and from there they're back
on their heels and you've got to be able to finish.
And you know, maybe they play right with Georgia or Clemson,
but from what I've seen, based on the Louisville game,
based on you know, they got back to one on

(42:06):
Eastern Michigan and gave up an eight zero run and
still e they're down nine, And what I've seen against Xavier,
I don't have a lot of faith that this group
can grind out that final three minutes of a close
game to get a win, because they haven't given me
confidence in their ability to do that.

Speaker 2 (42:22):
When you have been asked about this being a tournament
or bust year for Wes Miller, your response has been,
I need to see what it looks like. So, you know,
I go back to last year. They had one non
league loss before conference play, didn't come close to stay
in the tournament. They already have free one of them's
bad at home. They played two high majors in what
are effectively road games, and so, you know, God knows.

(42:44):
I hope they go to Atlanta and win and change
the conversation. But I'm thinking, okay, those are quite possibly
losses in Big twelve play. This does not right now
look like a team that's capable of winning nine out
of eighteen games. And so then I think, okay, eleven losses,
twelve losses, and I start to go, you know, for
for a team, what where a lot of us were,
Like the only the only baseline, the only barometer is

(43:07):
make the NCAA tournament. We're talking about seventeen losses something
like that, Like, well, that that is right right, Like
that's that's yeah, I mean that that there's the what
does it look like? That's sixteen seventeen, eighteen losses? Then
I think we know the outcome, right.

Speaker 6 (43:29):
It looks really really bad.

Speaker 9 (43:30):
I mean from and it's just so hard to fathom
with how competitive they were against Louisville to go from
that to where we are now, Like.

Speaker 6 (43:43):
It's hard to get your brain around that.

Speaker 9 (43:47):
Things that kind of just skidded to a complete halt
in the momentum of you know, what is a critical
season for west Miller and if he doesn't get this
thing turned around, like you've already in.

Speaker 6 (44:04):
A lot of ways lost the fan base.

Speaker 9 (44:05):
John Cunningham has given him a lot of rope, right, like, Okay,
we resept the clock essentially going into the Big twelve,
like we're gonna give you a chance to get this
thing course corrected. And last year like that was supposed
to be the year and they fell short. And it

(44:29):
just doesn't feel like there's any momentum moving forward in
the program right now, and that's not a good sign
for year five of the West Miller era.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
They they do, they do. I got like ninety seconds here.
How many how many players who make the backbone of
Scott Sadderfield's team will be on the field when they
play Navy in the Liberty Bowl?

Speaker 6 (44:56):
Probably not many. I don't think I would be At
this point.

Speaker 9 (45:02):
We haven't heard anything from Brendan Sowsby that leads me
to believe like if he was coming back, that would
be front and center, or at least a decision is
still being made, which tells me if a decision is
still being made, I wouldn't count on him for January second,
per se, Christian Harrison's already in the portal.

Speaker 6 (45:24):
I would assume. Dante Corleone announcing his.

Speaker 9 (45:27):
Intentions for the draft is a subtle way of saying,
I've been banged up all year. I'm probably not gonna
want to get Chopp blocked for you know, sixty plays.

Speaker 6 (45:40):
On January second.

Speaker 9 (45:44):
It doesn't feel great, and I think, you know, the
line has reflected that Cincinnati was a favorite. It has
swung all the way to Navy and feels like probably
will continue to do.

Speaker 6 (45:55):
So I'm gonna go to Memphis, but.

Speaker 9 (46:00):
Really I'm just I love Guss's Fried chickens, so I'm
probably just going for that and rendezvous in the press box,
rendevo in the price walks right, mo was that was
the last time we were at the Liberty Bow. Rendezvou
in the press.

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Box, Yeah, rendevoue in the press box. Yeah, I will.
I will have Gusses, I will have rendezvous and uh,
probably a few libations. We'll see you there.

Speaker 6 (46:20):
Thank you as all, same mouth, same see you there.

It's awesome to have you. Now it's your turn to
go ahead and publicly psychoanalyze Joe Burrow the Flora's yours.

Speaker 10 (47:46):
I usually get paid about three fifty an hour for that,
So hopefully if the check will be coming directly from jail,
and that this is a PR firm he is, I
have to say, I mean, this is the spin operation
he is going on is amazing in that he's got
the whole world feeling sorry for him coming off a
game where he was.

Speaker 17 (48:04):
The one who basically lost the game.

Speaker 12 (48:05):
I mean, the.

Speaker 10 (48:07):
Understandable to me if this was a scenario where it was,
you know, the Jets of the Bears game when Joe
Flacco played and the defense snatched the defeat from the
jaws of victory. But here's a game where you know,
I don't want to put all the blame on Burrow.
You know, clearly the defense struggled to stop Josh Allen,
but a lot of defenses struggled to stop Josh Allen.

(48:27):
It was always going to be a shootout, and you know,
Burrow blinked a couple. It was a little bit of
bad luck and a great play by the Bill's defensive
back Christian Benford. But still and now he comes out
and he feels a little sorry for himself, and all
of a sudden, everybody's like, how dare the Bengals even
employ this guy?

Speaker 6 (48:44):
We're right back to before the draft.

Speaker 15 (48:45):
It's unbelievable to me.

Speaker 2 (48:48):
So the game on Sunday, though, encapsulated everything I dislike
about the Bengals right now. So Joe made a mistake, right,
that's a pick six that you can't throw. You certainly
can't throw it in that situation in the four fourth quarter.
But he's on a team that requires him to be perfect,
and on Sunday he was human. And if Joe's only human,
they can't win.

Speaker 10 (49:09):
Yeah, well, besides you, who of us really is human?

Speaker 11 (49:12):
Are perfect?

Speaker 2 (49:13):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 10 (49:14):
It's a slippery slope. And of course you're right, that's
been a problem. You know, Burrow is a great quarterback,
but even great quarterbacks make mistakes, and you know, you
see it around the league. A lot of guys we
assume are superhuman, suddenly they don't play one hundred percent
perfect in the game and their team looks very mortal

(49:35):
around them. In Kansas City and Baltimore.

Speaker 15 (49:37):
We see it all over the place. And yeah, it's tough.

Speaker 10 (49:41):
It's something that we were promised was a one off
from last year and would never happen again, and here
it is happening again. That's the real issue, I think
for all of us in that you know you're willing
to bite down really hard and choke it down after
last year and think, Okay, well it happens, but you
know we're going to change things up in twenty twenty five,

(50:03):
and then we all sell them not really do anything,
and promise it was going to be different, and.

Speaker 17 (50:08):
It hasn't been any different. In a lot of ways,
it's been worse.

Speaker 10 (50:10):
And so that's what makes it really difficult, as you say,
as a Bengals fan, to watch that and to know
that you know, you understand Burrows.

Speaker 6 (50:18):
You know the weight of I've always called.

Speaker 10 (50:21):
Him at list and yet it seems like the weight
of the world on his shoulders is actually he's feeling
these days because it's just so much on him to
be that all pro level quarterback every single down, every
single week, and it's just not happening, and it won't
happen for anybody, and you know he's feeling it, no
question about it.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
He needs help, He needs a better defense. Bengals need
better defensive players, but they they do have pieces. The
obvious one is DJ Turner. Who else on that side
of the ball is worth keeping or building around.

Speaker 10 (50:54):
Yeah, when you stay building around, I think the players
that are going to build around aren't even on the roster, right,
I mean, that's that's where you take it. I think
you mentioned Turner. He's obviously having an excellent season. You're
not giving up on players like Miles Murphy.

Speaker 15 (51:09):
He's showing a flash.

Speaker 10 (51:10):
I hope that he and Shamar Stewart can develop together
and form a decent at least edge Russian combination. Uh.
You know, other guys have shown moments. Dack Hill, Chris Jenkins.
They're not guys you just automatically flush.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
I mean, you know, in the.

Speaker 10 (51:24):
NFL, guys think or swim at different levels. Some guys
burst out right away and then they, you know, kind
of fall off. Some guys take a while to develop
and then they really show who they are and there
their fourth even fifth seasons or they need a new
team sometimes, and you know, you know, that's that's the
nature of the league. And you're seeing that a little
bit in Cincinnati. We hope these guys will finally get

(51:46):
it together. I mean Al Golden was brought in specifically
to make guys who were young and underachieving under Luanna
Rumo take that step forward, and then you know, except
for Turner, you're not really seeing that. So I don't
know that anybody sides him is what you would call
a building block on that side of the ball. And
they're going to bring in a ton of personnel, but
you can't replace everybody else besides DJ, So you're going

(52:09):
to have to hope that some of these other guys
continue to develop. And you know, crussing your fingers hasn't
worked that well so far, but I don't know if
we have any other option.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
Robert Wintraub read his weekly Bengals column at Cincinnati Magazine
dot com. You're an analytics guy. Do analytics love DJ
Turner as much as as much as I do? When
I just apply the eye test?

Speaker 10 (52:33):
Well, analytics aren't human, mo, so no, I hopefully they
can't love like you can as an emotional, breathing human being.
But yet the numbers do back up the eye test,
no question. You know, the Bengals are right near the
top and enemy number one guarding by DVOA. They don't
throw a DJ Turner hardly at all. He's received by

(52:55):
percentage of the second fewest passes thrown in his direction
at any corner out there. And when you know the
opposing quarterback has such a buffet of options to throw elsewhere,
why would you throw a DJ Turner? Right? I mean,
they're giving up ten passes in nearly ninety five yards
a game to tight end. Just it's in human numbers.

(53:17):
Turner is having an excellent season. We have a DVOA
for Cornerbacks stet which you can find at FTN Fantasy,
and he's in the top five. So it's really kind
of remarkable that he's having this, you know, excellent, close
to all pro level season on an island essentially, And
you know, it's the old Deon Sanders thing. He's doing
his job and taking away the number one target for

(53:40):
enemy quarterbacks, and yet nobody else can step up and
stop them, and it's just it's really they've let him
down almost as much as they've let down Joe Burrow.
I don't know if DJ's given any press conferences with
the way of the world on his shoulders, but maybe
he should because he's playing extremely well and nobody else.

Speaker 6 (53:57):
Is around him.

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Do you mean thirty weeks on whether or not the
Ravens this week opponent, are done.

Speaker 3 (54:04):
Done.

Speaker 10 (54:05):
No, I don't think they're done. They obviously are underachieving
this year in a lot of the same way as
the Bengals are mostly tied to their quarterbacks health.

Speaker 6 (54:13):
As we know.

Speaker 10 (54:15):
You know, they're sixteenth in DVOA. But the teams are
lumped around the Patriots and the Chargers and the Buccaneers,
teams that we don't consider done. They're playing at basically
that level. Lamar can break out at any time. I
don't think they'll turn the ball over five times again,
and you know, they don't look good and there's not
a lot of reasons for optimism in Baltimore necessarily, but

(54:35):
I wouldn't taint.

Speaker 6 (54:36):
Them as done.

Speaker 10 (54:37):
They can easily, you know, make a run win the
division and that would be the first time any AFC
North team has won the division three times in a
row since the inception of the of the AFC Nors.
So we definitely don't want that better Pittsburgh really, even
in that scenario than the Dravens winning a three straight
times doing something on precedent, and we can't live with that.

Speaker 2 (54:57):
I agree with that wholeheartedly. No sight go analysis needed.

Speaker 9 (55:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (55:01):
I appreciate it as always. Man, I will talk to
you in a few weeks. Thank you so much.

Speaker 10 (55:05):
Yes, have a great holiday season. Everybody, thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
That's our guy. Robert Wintraub. Read his Bengals column right
now at Cincinnati Magazine dot com. It's twenty nine away
from five o'clock. I'm mollegar.

Speaker 6 (55:19):
We have room.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
Well, we're not. We have a segment. We have a
guest free segment, so to speak. Before Dan Klaskin's coming
up at four forty five on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati

T Higgins limited again today, still in the NFL's concussion protocol.

(56:42):
Trey Hendrickson has been placed on IR. Meanwhile, in Baltimore,
a couple of surprising names showing up Rashan Bateman with
an ankle Mark Andrews with a glute injury. Neither were
on yesterday's report. Both today as limited Bengals and Ravens
on Sunday at one o'clock. Don't forget pregame coverage from
the Holy Grail starts Sunday morning at nine. Thursday Night

(57:05):
Football Tonight, Fox Sports thirteen sixty has the Falcons and Buccaneers.
The West Miller Radio Show is tonight at eight o'clock
from the original Montgomery In on seven hundred WLW what
else do I have? FC Cincinnati assistant coach Dominic Kinnear
is departing FC Cincinnati and the Columbus Blue Jackets played

(57:29):
tonight against the Ottawa Senators. There are a lot of
real sad elements to that Sharon Morris story. Not the
least of which, and probably the most important, at least
for me, is the guy's got a family. The guy
has a wife, he has three children. I guess he's
got a newborn. And so these are innocent victims of

(57:53):
his behavior and they have to suffer the consequences in
at least somewhat public view, and that's not fair to them.
And so, you know, yesterday, at this time, we had
just found out that Sharon more story was happening, and
everybody was firing off jokes and it was funny. And
then you kind of see what has happened in the aftermath,

(58:13):
and some pretty disturbing details about what may or may
not have occurred, both as it relates to approach his
relationship with a staff member and then what he did
subsequent to getting fired yesterday, or at least what he's
maybe alleged of having done after he found out about
his firing yesterday, and so there's a real human element

(58:36):
to this story. There's also a major football element to
this story. This is a blue blood program that fired
its coach. Was some weird timing in play here right
after signing day. I've read reporting that suggested, and I
my computer is frozen here, which doesn't help. But I've

(58:57):
read some reporting that basically dedicated that Charon Moore and
the staffer in question here were both questioned separately about
a possible relationship back during the summer, and then apparently
the staffer came forward yesterday and said, actually, there is
a relationship, and then they banged Sharon More fired Charon Moore.

(59:18):
I guess I should say so. I guess that's how
it unfolded. The timing of this is, you know, it's
been the most active college football hiring cycle that we
can remember. A lot of huge programs changing coaches. It's
happening between signing day and a bowl game, and the
portal's about to open, and so there's a lot going
on here. And I have a lot of Ohio State

(59:41):
fans in my life. One of them is my producer,
Tarn Bland, and so like Ohio State fans having a
grand old time with this yesterday, as many of us
were like, Twitter was a funny place as it relates
to Charon More until it stopped being funny last night.
But a lot of Ohio State fans and joined them,
a lot of Ohio State fans taking a victory lap.

Speaker 8 (01:00:02):
And I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Like Sharon Moore coaches Michigan hated rival involved in the
sign stealing scandal, the fact that he got his punishment
and was allowed to pick the games that he missed
is comically stupid. That is an athletic department that has
seemingly had a lot of different issues even while the
Wolverines won the national title two years ago. But I guess,

(01:00:24):
purely from a football perspective, a lot of folks having
fun because Charon Moore is getting bounced the thing is
felt like Michigan fans were pretty cool with it.

Speaker 6 (01:00:36):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
I don't know of any rational human being who's okay
with a guy dragging his family through the mud publicly.
I certainly don't know any rational human being who is
okay with some of the things that maybe Charon Moore
is going to be accused of doing after he got
fired yesterday. But I don't know a ton of Michigan fans,
but I know some, and I certainly saw a bunch
on social media yesterday. None of them were lamenting the

(01:01:00):
loss of a great coach. And so to me, like
take the cue from them from a football perspective, Are
the people who care most about this program happy about this?

Speaker 6 (01:01:10):
You know?

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
When Urban Meyer was under fire for a completely different
set of circumstances while he was still the coach in
Columbus and got suspended, and to this day, I'm still
not sure what he got suspended for, Ohio State fans
weren't worried. Now things have worked out okay since But
Ohio State fans weren't worried because Urban Meyers a great coach,

(01:01:30):
I think, the second best coach of the twenty first century.
I didn't see any Michigan fan who was like, dude,
we just lost Sharon More. It was more like, cool,
we don't have Sharon Moore anymore. Why couldn't we have
done this weeks ago? So just like I don't know, like,
have fun, poke fun at Michigan, poke fun at the
whole stupid Michigan man thing. But now beyond the lookout

(01:01:55):
for them to hire a coach who's actually better than
Sharon Moore, and like, take your cue from Michigan fans.
None of them who seem to be upset that Jerome
Wore is not gonna be the coach anymore. Uh it
is a sixteen away from five o'clock. We'll do more
psychoanalysis of Joe Burrow. And UH, I need a question
answered for me about Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonzo and superstar

(01:02:18):
baseball players because I think in that sport in particular,
we have a really weird dynamic. U But first, our
buddy Dan Glaskins on Fantasy Football.

Speaker 12 (01:02:29):
Next Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty Traffic.

Speaker 5 (01:02:35):

Speaker 2 (01:03:07):
Ten from five ESPN fifteen thirty on Thursdays. At this time,
we talked fantasy football with our guy Dan Glaskins, most
of fantastics inside of football on serious extraft fantasy h
This is the day that I dread Dan. This is
the day where as somebody who is not eligible to
be in the postseason, who has been eliminated and frankly

(01:03:28):
got eliminated weeks ago, I have to go to the
ATM to get some cash so I can pay my
league fees. It's always a sobering day.

Speaker 17 (01:03:37):
Yes, yes, at least you pay your fees, right, that's
one of the things that is always helpful. But it
is a depressing thing. And here's the thing. If you
didn't make the fantasy playoffs, half the people in your
league did.

Speaker 6 (01:03:48):
You're just average.

Speaker 17 (01:03:49):
So I mean, you know, mo, I mean you've been
hearing your average whole life, so it shouldn't be that
big a man. No, I'm just teasing, brother, but no,
this is the season where it is a bitter and
in the season of bitterness, I thought we would start
today's segment. It's sort of the things I hate the
most about fantasy football, because we we got these things

(01:04:10):
all bottled up. And I'll tell you one of the
things I hate is kickers. I had literally been on
a crusade for like fifteen years to ban them from
every league in America, talking about it on the radio
show on Social certainly in the league that I managed.
Last week, I actually was going against Brandon Aubrey in
the game. I had a win, which didn't help you
get knocked out with his twenty five points. The variance

(01:04:32):
is just too much, man, Let's get away with it.
The thing I hateing worse than that is in game injuries.
Nothing like playing in your fantasy playoffs and in a
quarter one having your stud player go down and real
football to get somebody comes in. I don't understand, with
all the apps and software, how the world we can't
have something when you pick a bench player and get
some sort of pro rated points or something. I don't know,
at least in profits, they give it back to you

(01:04:53):
if they get hurt in the first half.

Speaker 6 (01:04:55):
Crappy trade offers.

Speaker 17 (01:04:57):
And yes, I'm calling out James Rapine on this one.
He's of crafty trade offers. I play in so many
leagues with Jameer Pene, but there's a lot of changer
pins in every league. No, and don't waste their time.
It's like trading stupid players for good players. Managers you
don't pay makes a list. But that's not new because
you went to the ATM and hey, here's a noble concept.
How about this pain on draft night and getting it
over it? And the worst of all is three leagues.

(01:05:19):
Please don't invite me because you know I got about things.
But I don't need to play when there's nothing on
the line. Though I'm sorry, maybe I'm a degenerate, but yeah,
free leagues really make me killed.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
We we had, we have still a coworker who years
ago tried to put together a free league, and I think,
I I think to this day he's still mad at
me because of how hard I laughed in his face.
But so you don't have those. But but I am.
I am a chronic pay as soon as i'm done,
uh you know, as soon as I have no chance
of winning, as soon as I'm eliminated, I pay. So No,
I don't pay on draft. I do pay.

Speaker 17 (01:05:55):
Don't have to ask you to pay your fee like
at the super Bowl.

Speaker 6 (01:05:59):
That's a good thing.

Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
That's why I will never be a fantasy football commissioner.
Let's talk about a pretty lengthy list of injuries.

Speaker 17 (01:06:07):
Yeah, Devin Hm, excuse me, Devin Hm. He is the
biggest name on the list. He plays on Monday night.
They're really just getting that practice for the first time.
Good news on the x ray on his rigs issue.
This is a situation to monitor for one of fantasy
top backs. The receivers are where most of the injuries occur.
Obviously you've been talking about t against In. It's concussion.
I don't know what's going to happen on Sunday, but

(01:06:29):
he is in concussion protocol still with bangles. Nothing I
must play for. I'm not sure why he would rush
out there. I would have a backup plan. Drake London
already ruled out this week. Talk about a team and
nothing to play for. That's this time of year.

Speaker 6 (01:06:40):
No, these injuries.

Speaker 17 (01:06:41):
His teams are eliminator out of it. Why would these
people come back so something to consider their Seedee Lamb,
he's in concussion protocol. Marvin Harrison Junior wasn't at practice
today with the heel issue. Michael Wilson's turned into like
Jerry Rice in his absence, So if you're sitting on
Michael Wilson, you're hoping Harrison Junior doesn't practice tomorrow Remadus
week with his foot issue. I thought dj moarrim was

(01:07:02):
going to fire off in his absence last week. No,
he got negative points, so I'm not sure whip Berry's
ride out. I'm interested in here. Garrett Wilson could come
back from my art. I am happy to report that
Mike Evans and Dalalen McMillan have been activated and will
play tonight. So Evans was dropped out there. I'm sure
he's already been scooped up in your league. I'd feel
a little bit relucant putt him out here against the
Falcons unless you absolutely need it. But you got him

(01:07:24):
on the roster, could work out come Fantasy playoff times.
And then that quarterback Daniel Jones. I'm meaned Buzzkill City
for the Colts fans, but I did have to go
out and pick up Philip Rivers in my superplex league.
I'm not going to start him here against Seattle, but
I lost Jones and Jaydon Daniels in the same week
in a two quarterback league and its playoff time and
Jaydon Daniels reading his elbow doesn't look serious, but again

(01:07:47):
the Commander's on the way to nowhere and even worse
news for the Commanders potentially career ending ACL knee injury
for Zach Ertz, definitely out of the season and on
a team that really has nothing to play for.

Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
Ye huge bummer. Dan Klaskin's host of Fantastics Insider Football
on Serious XEM Fantasy, Give me your week fifteen studs,
duds and sleepers.

Speaker 17 (01:08:09):
All right, let's start with a couple of rookies of
studs Man and Jackson Dart. He actually TOPPS my ranks
this week at the quarterback position. I'm expecting big things
here at versus Washington and Dart went healthy has proven
to have that rushing four Fantasy managers once so at
the veryt least the top five option. Well, he was
a sleeper on last week's segment here on the program,

(01:08:30):
but this week he's moving up. The stud Harold Pannon Jr.
Hopefully he got him into the lineup after we got
him advised last week. He scored twenty five plus points
in PPR League this week he's against Chicago. He's number
four tight end off my board, so outside of brock Byers,
Trade mcbrider, George kill, this is my next guy on
the list, which speaks pretty highly of him. On the

(01:08:50):
dud side, Justin Herbert. That hand is making me a
little nervous. He did get a lot of rushing last week,
but I'm not expecting a ton of points here at
Kansas City. He's outside my fifteen and Brian Thomas Jr.
Perhaps one of the biggest busts of the season. This
guy was going on the swing of round one and
round two in August drafts. Now he's having a tough
time crack in my top forty. He hasn't had more

(01:09:11):
than three catches in a game since Week eight. If
he's battled your injuries, he's not a guy you want
to have in there with all the marbles on the
line this week and then the Sleepers forty marks seventeen
plus touches in five straight games for the Texans. He's
got Arizona. They're giving up the fourth most fantasy points
to the position. So I like him this week, and
I like Juwan Jennings sneaking in as the back end
wide receiver too. He's had double digit PPR points and

(01:09:33):
four of his last five. Now he's facing Tennessee seventeen
wide receivers. If they had double digit PPR points, they're
giving up the seventh most points in the position.

Speaker 6 (01:09:40):
So fire Jennings up.

Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
If you got it all right, you've been talking about
this all year, the Do Good Fantasy Salary Cap Challenge.
There are four more weeks left and you have lowered
the minimum donation.

Speaker 6 (01:09:54):
Yeah, dude, a good call there.

Speaker 17 (01:09:56):
We dropped it down to ten bucks on veteran's need
help with BA he helps a million veterans a year,
a life changing way through pre programs and services all
based off meitation. So you got next to ten bucks
in your pocket year, sorry, your fantasy season, then go
donate it to dav I Do Good Fantasy. You get
to play four weeks picking a salary cap line up.
We got over three thousand dollars in prizes, but we

(01:10:17):
already have a nice little uptick here at the year end.

Speaker 6 (01:10:19):
So a good way to have some fun play with purpose,
all right.

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Always awesome to have you. I know we're skipping next week.
We'll talk again on Tuesday, December twenty third right before.

Speaker 17 (01:10:30):
Yeah, we'll be coming back for the Fantasy just in
time for the Fantasy Championship, and hopefully a lot of
our listeners here still alive. I'm rooting for them, unless
they're going against me, of course.

Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
Of course. Yep. All right, make sure you check out
Do Good Fantasy dot com. Follow Dan on Twitter at
dan Klaskins. Thank you as always. All right, there you go.
There's our guy, Dan Klaskins, Fantastics Insider Football on Serious
XM Fantasy. It's a couple away from five o'clock. A
question if you were anti Schwarz coming up, But first,

(01:11:02):
just pretend you're Joe Burrow put yourself in his shoes,
which sounds fun. Yesterday it did not. We'll try it anyway.
At five oh five on ESPN fifteen thirty, no one.

Speaker 19 (01:11:13):
Covers the Bengals like ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
Damn snay, it's up. It's five oh six, This is
ESPN fifteen thirty. You know what time it is, right,
it's it's time for the bud Light five o'clock happy hour.
And you know how our show works, right, like we don't.
We don't have a Friday show because the Bengals pep rally.
So this is this is our Friday, This is our

(01:11:42):
last hour of the work week. That calls for an
ice cold bud Light, easy to drink, easy to enjoy.
Might want to pick up a twelve pack for the
weekend to stock up because we're gonna get snow. I'm
gonna get a ton of Do you need an excuse?
Pick up an ice cold bud Light twelve packs and
go do that now the bud Light five o'clock Happy.

(01:12:03):
Our Jay Morrison in fifteen minutes will help us try
to psychoanalyze Joe Burrow and talk about a bunch of
different things as they relate to the game on Sunday,
Bengals in Baltimore. Ravens T. Higgins again limited today at practice.
Rashad Bateman and Mark Andrews popped up on the Ravens
injury report earlier today. We'll spend time on that with
Jay coming up in about fifteen minutes. The Joe Burrow thing.

(01:12:27):
It's been interesting. I got a text a short while ago.
As soon as I'm done with this show, ESPN Radio
is having me on. I've mentioned this. I keep an
eye on, you know, the shows on FS one of
the show's on ESPN because I think it's interesting to see,
if there's a story here, how much time they're spending

(01:12:48):
on it. Granted there's not a ton going on in
the NFL on a random Thursday. The game tonight is
sort of a eh. The Sharon More thing is the
biggest story in sports. It's taking a dark and sinister turn.
So everybody is spending time on Joe Burrow. There hasn't
been a show that I've heard or paid attention to

(01:13:08):
TV radio podcast that hasn't talked about Joe Burrow's press
conference yesterday. This includes Unsportsmanlike on ESPN Radio, and I've
got some audio from that show that we're going to
play a little bit later on. I don't think that
by now I have to give you the entire chunk
of audio from Joe yesterday. It's been more than twenty
four hours. But the cruxt of it is, here is
a guy whose body language, Even if you didn't hear

(01:13:32):
the audio, if you just saw I don't know, video
that was muted, that's a guy going through some stuff.
That's a guy who's not exactly happy right now. That's
a guy who's not having fun. And then there were
the quotes where he talked about like, this has to
be fun, this has to be fun, talked about he's
got there's a lot of stuff going on. He was
asked if it's worker, if it's personal, and he just said,

(01:13:54):
there's a lot of stuff going on. The bigger story
for me would be if Joe Burrow said I'm having
a blast. If Joe Burrow showed up yesterday and we
got a comedy routine. Now, that's not his personality. So
even if things were going great, you wouldn't expect that.
But they're four and nine. Like, the thing that I'm

(01:14:16):
not expecting from the face of a franchise of a
four and nine team is a lot of levity, a
lot of laughs, a lot of good times. This season
has gone sideways. This franchise has kind of fallen off
the tracks. The season has gone off the rails. Whatever
verbiage you want me to use, I'll use. The Bengals

(01:14:37):
are not in a good place. They are on the
verge of missing the postseason for a third consecutive year.
While Joe Burrow is in his prime, this was effectively
his age twenty eight season. They're gonna lose more games
than they win. Obviously, Joe's injury is the biggest reason why.

(01:14:59):
But things aren't good. This is a dark time for
the Bengals. I know there's a lot of folks who
don't want to hear that, but it is three consecutive
years in the prime of your franchise face not making
the postseason. These are dark times. These aren't fun. Maybe
jobs are at stake. Certainly there's a lot of a

(01:15:22):
lot of turnover that's gonna come this offseason. Why would
Joe Burrow be having fun? You're a fan, right, Are
you having fun with this team this year? I'm not.
Nobody should be having fun, certainly not the guy who
has the most to lose when the losing continues. He

(01:15:43):
is the face of the franchise. Like you heard it
last year, right, Joe Burrow had the greatest single season
of any quarterback in Bengals history. He performed at an
MVP caliber level. Team make the postseason. There's a lot
of reasons for that. Joe Burrow's play is not on

(01:16:06):
the list. Yet. You heard the talking points this past
offseason where Joe Burrow took some criticism because his team
was on the outside looking in. If you're a starting
quarterback in the NFL, you probably get more credit than
you deserve when things are going well. You certainly have
the finger pointed at you when things aren't, even if

(01:16:30):
you don't deserve it. Joe knows that. I think it's
fun to be associated with losing. I think it's fun
to watch quarterbacks that you are better than get a
crack at playing in the most important games. And by
the way, and I got this poll question on Twitter
at Moeger thanks to United at Heartland Insurance, and I
asked it for this reason. The question is about the

(01:16:51):
Bengals and Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, each of whom
are currently on the outside looking into the playoffs. And
my question is which of those teams, let's assume for
a second they don't make it, which I don't think
Kansas City will, Baltimore Man, the schedule is really hard.

(01:17:11):
I don't I'm not comfortable picking them in the AFC North.
Not exactly nuts about investing in the Pittsburgh Steelers, But
those three teams right now, which one is least likely
to make the playoffs next year if we assume all
three miss it this year? Which one is least likely
to make the playoffs next year. Sixty five point four
percent of you say the Bengals. So you're Joe Burrow right.

(01:17:33):
Last year you had to watch Josh Allen and Lamar
Jackson and Patrick Mahomes play in the postseason. Jalen hurts,
You had to watch him win a super Bowl. Those
are your contemporaries, your peers. I'm sure you think you're
better than them. Got to watch them play in the
playoffs last year. You were on the outside looking.

Speaker 5 (01:17:53):
At this year.

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Maybe some of those guys aren't going to be in
the playoffs. But if you're Joe deep down inside, are
aren't you wondering? Am I gonna be the last? Let's
just say it's about Lamar and Patrick Mahomes? Am I
gonna be the last to get back to the postseason?
If you're Joe Burrow, aren't you starting to wonder? Is

(01:18:15):
this really gonna work out? That doesn't mean you're forcing
a trade, doesn't mean you're gonna retire, It doesn't. It
doesn't mean that you're you're gonna throw a temper tantrum
hold out. It doesn't mean you're necessarily going to do
anything but I'll say this, the longer this goes, the
less fun it's gonna be. And in any situation where

(01:18:38):
someone's not having a lot of fun, typically they choose
to stop doing what they're doing, choose to find something
that is fun. Man, the clock is ticking, and this
is certainly not the first time we've talked about this,
and it's not about necessarily pulling a Carson Palmer. Even
if Joe Burrow is having a blast, the dude's under
contract for four more years at some point, at some

(01:19:02):
point soon, it's a pretty good chance the Bengals are
gonna want to re up with Joe Burrow into the
next decade. Like I'm sure from a Bengals perspective, it
isn't you know. Let's just see where things stand at
the end of the twenty twenty nine season. Even say
what you want about this franchise, I'm guessing that's not
where they are when they come to Joe Burrow with
a new contract in a couple of years. What do

(01:19:25):
you think he'll say If the losing continues, What do
you think he'll say? If the surgeries continue? What do
you think he'll say if the games persist? Where he's
scoring thirty thirty five thirty eight forty points and they're
not winning. So I guess there's two different ways of
looking at this. If you're Joe Burrow, how are you

(01:19:47):
not thinking about? All right? I've done this for six years.
We haven't won. My quarterback is My quarterback career is mainly,
to a large degree, judged by how much do I win.
I didn't get a chance last year, not getting a
chance this year. I'm always hurt. They're constantly putting me
behind bad offensive lines. Although that group is playing well

(01:20:10):
right now, we can't build a defense. We've swapped out coaches,
swapped out offensive line coaches, tried a different defensive coordinator.
I've had to stand around here and be the adult
while we uh while we draft guys like Jermaine Burton.
I've watched them mishandle the Trey Hendrickson thing. I've watched
him bungle the wide receiver contracts to the point that
they had to pay those guys more money. They sat

(01:20:31):
out free agency last year, they didn't address a very
good defense. Like, if you're Joe Burrow, how are you
not doing like a I don't know a self assessment
and an assessment of your employer, going, huh, I wonder
if I want this to continue, or I wonder if
maybe maybe I would be better somewhere else. If you
weren't doing that, I would wonder what was wrong with you.

(01:20:52):
You could also look at it from our perspective, as
fans of the Bengals perspective. If this can sin, if
this can if you're not worried about Joe Burrow pulling
a carson, or it's hiring or demanding a trade, or
expressing some level of real deep dissatisfaction, if you're not
worried about that. Now, do you want a tempt fate?

(01:21:15):
Do you want to tempt fate to the degree that
another year comes and goes Any year from now Bengals
are playing out the string, losses outweigh the wins, not
making the postseason? Do you want to do it again?

Speaker 6 (01:21:30):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
Try him? That's what I would say. If this is like,
because I've seen this. You know, the folks who think
that everything is just great with the Bengals three hundred
and sixty five days out of the year, the national
media is making a lot out of little. They're making
a big deal out of nothing. Okay, Let's try it.
Let's see where this goes. If the losing continues, Let's

(01:21:51):
see where this goes. If the surgeries continue, Let's see
where this goes. If the bad defense continues, Let's see
where this goes. If the bad drafts continue, Let's see
where that goes. If his contemporaries, his peers keep winning rings,
keep playing in playoff games, keep winning MVPs, Joe Burrow
should have an MVP on his trophy, on his trophy,
in his trophy case right now, should have won one.

(01:22:12):
Last year. Basically had no chance even though he was
a finalist because his team stunk. Couldn't even play in
the playoffs last year. Probably not even gonna play in
the playoffs this year. Keep keep doing it, legitimately, keep
doing it, and then I don't know. Let's let's take
a guess as to whether or not Joe will just

(01:22:34):
get to the end of the twenty twenty nine season,
let his contract expire and everything's cool, or make it
known this isn't a place where he wants to play anymore.
Try it, let's let's let's let it continue to me.
Joe Burrow does nothing. Tony said this today. Joe Burrow
does nothing unintentionally nothing. This is a purpose driven person,
a calculated person, a smart person. He knows everything he

(01:22:58):
says and does, is parsed, is examined, is scrutinized, is discussed,
is debated. He knew exactly what he was doing. He
knew what he was doing when he got up to
walk away yesterday and then came back. He knew what
he was doing last year when he was obviously angry
and frustrated as his great performances were being wasted. He

(01:23:18):
knew what he was doing yesterday. He knew message being sent.
Ain't having fun. If I ain't having fun, things ain't good.
If things keep being not good, I'm gonna have a
decision to make. Let's let's and if you think it's
it's irresponsible and silly to say that he's gonna be
an Andrew Locker a Carson Palmer. Okay, I don't entirely disagree.

(01:23:41):
Do you want a temph Thete? Do you want a
temph thete with Joe Burrow? If I was Duke Tobin
or Mike Brown or Elizabeth Blackburn or Katie Blackburn or
Troy Blackburn or Zach Taylor, the answer would be no,
do not temph fatee. Somebody is telling you they're not
having fun, keep it not fun. See what happens. Somebody

(01:24:02):
is telling you they're unhappy at work. Dude, If you
have people who work for you and they're constantly expressing
this ain't great, this isn't fun. I'm not getting a
lot out of this, and they're good employees. If they
keep doing that, do not be surprised when eventually they
go elsewhere. So as the kids say, f around and
find out. Keep screwing up the drafts, keep screwing up

(01:24:24):
the roster, keep wasting Joe Burrow, keep putting them on
the surgeon's table. See what happens, Jay Morrison.

Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
Jane Morrison from Bengals Talk dot com and The Growler
Podcast joins us on Thursdays at buy Jay Morrison on Twitter, Jay,
have you enjoyed the twenty four hours or so of
psychoanalysis of Joe Burrow?

Speaker 19 (01:25:40):
No, there's much more interesting things I think that we
could have talked about. But anything that guy does is news,
so you've got to react to it, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
What is the appropriate reaction to what Joe Burrow put
on display yesterday? I don't know.

Speaker 19 (01:25:57):
I mean, honestly, I was more taken aback by what
he said after the game Sunday and just kind of
the flippant nature. And you know that he's so uber
intense and you just expect him to be really really
mad about the loss, and that was he was joking,
and that hable cookie krumbles, that kind of stuff. That

(01:26:18):
was more concerning yesterday.

Speaker 3 (01:26:20):
I mean, he did say it was personal and football.

Speaker 19 (01:26:23):
I think people making nationally people are making too much
out of it, just assuming he's had enough in Cincinnati
once out. I think it sounded like something's going on
in his personal life, and we know he doesn't like birthdays,
and everybody was giving him gifts and singing to him
and making him feel uncomfortable and just just the guy
having a bad day.

Speaker 2 (01:26:42):
Yeah, I like birthday gifts, by the way. So here's
my next in question, and then this is the important one.
What's he buying the offensive lineman for Christmas this year?

Speaker 19 (01:26:53):
Yeah, we don't know yet. I think we'll find that
out next week. But yeah, that's a good question.

Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
It's gonna be hard to top samurai swords.

Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
It is definitely going to be hard to top samurai swords.
What is happening with t Higgins right now?

Speaker 3 (01:27:09):
Yeah, he's still going through the protocol.

Speaker 6 (01:27:11):
He was limited again today.

Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
I just you know, when when these.

Speaker 19 (01:27:15):
Start stacking on top of each other, you really get concerned.
I no one's told me anything, but I just I'd
be surprised if he plays this week. You need to
take it, you know, the more conservative, safer approach. Getting
getting two head injuries in the span of three games,
it's it's not good. And you know the it's going

(01:27:36):
to be freezing cold lower than freezing cold on Sunday,
that turk is going to be even harder, and I
just I think the smart thing to do will We'll be.

Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
Too to sit him out again.

Speaker 6 (01:27:48):
He has to go.

Speaker 19 (01:27:49):
He has to go through a full practice, non contact
practice before you can see the independent neurologist, and he
didn't do that. He was limited again today, So I
would say it's definitely trending towards him not playing.

Speaker 2 (01:28:01):
You've outlined this week how historically bad the Bengals are
against tight ends. It's worth noting Mark Andrews did pop
up on the injury report this week in Baltimore, and
so it's not that dissimilar from what we talked about
going into the first time these two teams played, where
you worry about the middle of the field. Is there
as obvious answers the rookie linebackers can play better. Is

(01:28:22):
there anything Al Golden can legitimately do to fix something
that has been as bad as the Bengals have been
at covering the middle of the field, specifically against tight ends.

Speaker 19 (01:28:34):
No, I mean, you can't make these guys grow up
in a hurry there that they believe they're getting better.

Speaker 6 (01:28:40):
But it's incremental.

Speaker 19 (01:28:41):
They're not just going to be really good and really
aware overnight. And you know, part of it is the
aggression aspect, and they are they are biting on play
fakes and and really set.

Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
To stop the run.

Speaker 6 (01:28:55):
And that's going to be.

Speaker 3 (01:28:56):
That was the case with Buffalo, it's going to be
the case again with Baltimore.

Speaker 19 (01:29:00):
Maybe going man to man a lot would maybe take.

Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
Care of some of that, but I just I don't
see that happening. I think they're just going to have
to live with it. And I don't think that Bengal
fans should be excited.

Speaker 19 (01:29:10):
About the possibility of Mark Andrews not playing because Isaiah
Likely had a ton of yards.

Speaker 6 (01:29:14):
He was more of the.

Speaker 19 (01:29:15):
Tired tight end target than Mark Andrews was when they
met on Thanksgiving night. That just means more opportunities for
him if Andrews is out.

Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
I'm trying to find something to be excited about.

Speaker 17 (01:29:25):
Jay.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
So no, I'm not excited about Isaiah Likely, or Mark
Andrews or pretty much anybody else.

Speaker 6 (01:29:31):
Not a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
All right, you're the man, Thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (01:29:34):
All right, thanks Moe.

Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
We spent a lot of time this week on the
Reds in their pursuit, though I don't think it was
a real serious pursuit of Kyle Schwarber, and maybe there's
still a big name out there. Kutel Marte is being
talked about as somebody the Reds may trade for. We
will see. I don't think the type of fan I'm

(01:31:39):
about to mention represents the majority, but it is interesting
to me whether it be in the run up to
Kyle Schwarber signing with the Phillies or in the days
subsequent to him signing with the Phillies when we've all
reacted to it. I have either heard or read some
version of this, Eh signing him wasn't gonna help them

(01:32:04):
win the World Series anyway, Okay, on its own, probably not.
Some other things were gonna have to happen. The backbone
of the twenty twenty six Reds is probably still a
bunch of dudes were on the twenty twenty five Reds
and a lot of those guys got to be better,
or you know, they traded for Griffy and it didn't

(01:32:27):
work out. By the way, as a quick aside, do
you remember how good Ken Griffy Junior was his first
year in Cincinnati. Go look at the numbers. The Reds
couldn't use.

Speaker 9 (01:32:39):
That or this.

Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
It's a lot of money, man like, I don't know
how about the back end of that deal. Neither of
these things do I understand, and I bring them up again.
I don't think any of those opinions represent the majority,
but I've I've heard or read some version of each
of those multiple times. I don't understand them. One Kyle

(01:33:06):
Schwerber on his own, or Pete Alonso on his own,
or it could tell Marte on his own would not
guarantee the Reds win the World Series. Nothing does, but
they would make the team better. They would make the
team better on paper. And all you're doing in the
offseason is trying to make your team better on paper.
Nothing is guaranteed, of course, or the well, you know

(01:33:26):
they tried this before with King Griffy Junior. So you
fail at this one thing and make a series of
mistakes around this one thing. By the way, when the
Rads acquired King Griffy Junior, the reason that team in
two thousand ended up not being great. They won I
think eighty five games. They didn't upgrade their starting pitching.
The starting pitching in nineteen ninety nine was not very good,
even though they won ninety six games. And then you know,

(01:33:49):
Junior got heart. A lot of things happened. I would
go back and make that same trade ten times out
of ten. The other one I just I don't relate
to is well being worried about what you're paying him
in twenty twenty. This is a myopic, admittedly myopic way
of looking at things. I haven't seen the Reds advance
in the postseason since I was a freshman in college.
That's a long dan time ago. We are years past

(01:34:12):
our twenty fifth reunion. Like, I don't really care about
what who's going to be making what money in twenty
twenty nine, twenty thirty, or twenty two. I don't care
about who's going to be making what in twenty twenty
seven when I'm not sure we're going to have a season.
These are points of view I don't relate to or understand.

(01:34:33):
Perhaps they could be explained. Uh, let's see, Patrick, you've
been waiting patiently. Thank you for hanging on.

Speaker 8 (01:34:39):
How are you.

Speaker 3 (01:34:42):
Hehi about love your show? Thanks for having me on.

Speaker 14 (01:34:46):
Of course this whole Joe Burrow, I'm in a bad
mood kind of thing.

Speaker 8 (01:34:51):
I'm not having fun.

Speaker 3 (01:34:53):
Let's look, just for a second, look back at last season. Yeah,
that really really stucked.

Speaker 15 (01:34:58):
Defense terrible. We should have went to the playoffs.

Speaker 14 (01:35:03):
Burrow had one of the best seasons I think in
the history of the NFL as a quarterback, and sometimes
that's just the way professional sports go. This year, look, Joe,
I admittedly he might not be happy, but for fifty
five million dollars a year.

Speaker 3 (01:35:24):
I'm sure he can find a smile. Somewhere he is.
His chosen profession is very violent.

Speaker 14 (01:35:30):
And I don't subscribe that Joe Burrow is injury prone.

Speaker 15 (01:35:35):
It's just the luck.

Speaker 14 (01:35:37):
It's the way it happens. And unfortunately, Joe has had
some bad luck in his professional career where he's been injured.
And he is one of the most elite quarterbacks ever
to play in this league. And unfortunately, if he's hurt, him.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
Isn't gonna win.

Speaker 14 (01:35:55):
And to no fault of Joe Burrows, but I was
little disappointed yesterday. Maybe he's having a bad day, maybe
he broke up with his assistant or whatever. Who the
heck knowes, But those type of things on his level
of professional of professionalism like he normally is, probably should

(01:36:15):
have stayed, you know, behind the door a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
I just a little disappointed in Joe yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:36:21):
To me, Joe has always been the kind of guy
who's gonna tell you exactly how he feels good or bad.
You know, if you go back to his second season
and this is you know, not a big deal, but
he was asked about like his chain or his sunglasses
and whether they were real or knockoff, and he's like, dude,
I make too much money. Of course, it's real. Like
you asked him a question, He's gonna give you an answer.
We had Joe Burrow on our show the day after

(01:36:43):
he was drafted, and I asked him, why didn't you
go to UC? And he gave me an answer that
a lot of UC fans got mad at me for,
which was I couldn't win a national championship there. So
if you ask him, he's gonna If you ask him
a question, he is going to give you an answer.
And I appreciate that about him. So to me, if yes,
Joe Burrow, like what's wrong, He's maybe not going to
give you excruciating detail, but if he's having a bad day,

(01:37:05):
if he's not in a good mood, I think he's
gonna convey I'm having a bad day and I'm not
in a good mood. And I don't have a problem
with that.

Speaker 14 (01:37:13):
I don't have a problem with it either. And yeah,
everybody's kind of have fun at work. But if I'm
making fifty five million a year, even other players in
the league, you know, it's like say, it's a violent,
violent sport.

Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
And I don't necessarily blame the Bengals front office.

Speaker 14 (01:37:31):
For all their injuries. They have made countless mistakes. We're
not gonna sit and argue that they have not because
they have and have not given Joe the talent on
defense to win as they have on offense. But I
think Joe's gonna be fine. I don't think he's gonna quit.
I don't think he's going to force a trade. I
just think, like you said, he was having a bad

(01:37:52):
day yesterday, and I think everybody needs to move on
a little bit because it's you know, I don't think
it's as bad as everybody thinks.

Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
No, I mean, I don't think it's I don't think. Look,
I don't think Joe's asking for a trade, don't think
he's retiring, don't think he's, you know, putting a gun
to Duke Tobin said anything like that. I do think
when your most important person is unhappy a lot, at
some point that becomes your problem. It becomes your problem,
becomes our problem with the radio station. If we have
a chronically unhappy person who's really important, and it's the

(01:38:22):
same for the NFL. And so my point is create
an environment where Joe Burrow isn't unhappy coming to work
and the whole like he makes a lot of money thing, Like,
I get it, but it's still the guy's life. It's
still what he works at, it's still his craft, it's
still his reputation. Coming to work when you're making fifty
five million dollars a year playing for a team that's
going nowhere again can't be fun. And I don't expect

(01:38:46):
him to fake it just because of the amount of
money he's making. Patrick, I gotta run, man, Thanks so much,
Thank mom. You know, I guess Jamar Chase chided some
people today there is an irresponsible way of talking about
the Joe Burrow thing. God knows, I have seen and
heard it today. I don't think it's irresponsible to go
that's a QB. Who I'm sure, like, I don't know

(01:39:08):
what's going on in this personal life and it's none
of my business. And maybe he was just having a
bad day. But he's a smart enough guy to know
that everything he says, does, every piece of body language
is scrutinized, examined, parsed through. If he wanted to fake it,
he could have. He chose not to, and then you

(01:39:32):
just you add up the circumstances. Like the way I
do it is put yourself in Joe Burrow's shoes. If
you were a Joe Burrow, you might not be asking
for a trade, But once you be going like, dude, really,
Like the other day, I played my face off, I
throw one pick and we have no chance to win
because I gotta be perfect. Last year I was an
MVP as the best quarterback in the league. We couldn't
even play in the playoffs, couldn't even make it as

(01:39:53):
a seventh seed. I come back from injury and we
have to dig ourselves out of a huge hole because
we couldn't win games where my replacement scored thirty eight
and forty two points. Like we drafted Jermaine Burton, who
I can't throw to now because we had to cut
him because he's a knucklehead. Like you wouldn't be I would.

(01:40:14):
I would find it hard to believe that any of
us in Joe Burrow's shoes wouldn't be going cod like,
when's this gonna change? And by the time it does,
where am I going to be in my career?

Speaker 6 (01:40:24):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
Fourteen away from five o'clock. An awesome event is coming soon.
You should go to it because it's gonna help. Speaking
to Joe Burrow, it's gonna help his foundation help a
lot of people get to that. Next on ESPN fifteen.

Speaker 12 (01:40:36):
Thirty, Cincinnati's ESPN fifteen thirty traffic.

Speaker 5 (01:40:41):
From the UC Health Traffic Center at u See Health,
You'll find comprehensive care that's so personal it makes your
best tomorrow possible. That's boundless care for better outcomes. Expect
more at UCHealth dot com. Down to only one accident.
It is eastbound on two seventy five between the Double
A Highway in three mile two right lanes blocked off

(01:41:01):
looking at a fifty minute to lay back from Madison Pike.
More slow traffic westbound two seventy five between Alexandria Pike
and the Double A Highway.

Speaker 11 (01:41:11):
I'm at Eazelic with Tras're.

Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
Signing good players. I'm about to play an interview with
Robin and Jimmy Burrow along with Gordy Snyder, who is
the founding chairman of the Marty Gras Benefiting Homeless Children
event which is happening on February seventeenth at the Northern
Kentucky Convention Center. This is a great event and you
can get your tickets at Marty Graw twenty twenty six

(01:41:34):
dot Org. We tape this interview this morning, and the
reason we did is Gordy and Jimmy and Robin were
going on a bunch of different radio stations in our building,
and so I had to come in early to tape it,
which is fine. It's not something we do that often,
but it does happen. I decided, you know what I'm
gonna do. I'm gonna I'm gonna record this on my own.

(01:41:55):
I'm gonna I'm gonna bring out my old producing skills
and I'm gonna do this on my own. So we're
not asking Haarn to come in at nine o'clock in
the morning or anybody else. So unfortunately I must have
hit the wrong button because the audio quality on this
interview is very poor, and so I just I want
to acknowledge that it's likely completely my fault. This is

(01:42:16):
why I usually ask folks like Tarin or Austin or
whoever who like know what they're doing with the equipment
to record stuff. So I think you're gonna hear the
interview and hear the crux of it, but I want
to acknowledge the bad audio. This is a really important
event because it helps out so many homeless children in
the Greater Cincinnatian specifically northern Kentucky area. And it's also
a really fun again, so again, Marty Graw nky or

(01:42:40):
I'm sorry, Marty Graw twenty twenty six dot org is
the best way Marty graw Nky dot org will work
as well. And the Burrow Foundation is partnering with the
folks who put on this event and it's gonna be awesome.
And so here is a few minutes with me and
Gordy Snyder and Jimmy and Robin Burrow from earlier today.
And again my apologies for the all whole sounding audio.

Speaker 7 (01:43:01):
Well, it's Fat Tuesday, so that's easy to remember right
from home seventeen and we're going to have probably over
fifty restaurants and purveyors they're serving serving all kinds of
great food Cajun style food or New Orleans style food
to help, you know, celebrate the event. It's in their
thirty fifth year. And just a little bit about how

(01:43:23):
this event started. Thirty six years ago, there was, unfortunately
at tragic situation in Cincinnati where four Holmost children were
locked in a abandoned garage by their father. The garage
caught on fire, and burnt down. All four children perished.
So all of a sudden, everybody in Cincinnati is like,
oh my god, what's homeless. You know, homeless is one thing,

(01:43:45):
but then you put children in that equation, yea, it's
a little tragic. So, you know, the Northern Kentucky Restaurant Association,
when they heard about this, decided to do something about it,
and we started the Marti Grop for Home benefiting Holmost Children.
And the money goes towards three different benefits of Bethany
House of Cincinnati, Brighton Center of Northern Kentucky, and Welcome

(01:44:05):
House of Northern Kentucky. And all the money raise goes
to feed children in these facilities. So it's just a
great it's a great party with a great purpose.

Speaker 2 (01:44:14):
Jimmy and Robin the Joe Burrow Foundation, I'm sure you
get a lot of requests, a lot of asks, and
you want to help as many people as possible.

Speaker 8 (01:44:21):
I can tell you from experience with the work that
these folks do. You guys have chosen a good one.

Speaker 6 (01:44:26):
Well.

Speaker 20 (01:44:26):
It aligns with Joe's mission statement with the Foundation to
provide resources and support for the underprivileged and the underserved.
When it in terms of food insecurity and children's mental health.
So when we were approached with Marty gral which for
us is Louisiana based, so we love that, and then

(01:44:49):
to feed homeless children, it really does align with.

Speaker 8 (01:44:53):
What Joe wants to do in the community and what
we you want to do as a family and a foundation.

Speaker 2 (01:44:58):
A lot of times, Robin, you hear of foundations, and
folks may hear of the Joe Burrow Foundation. Jimmy just
outlined some of the goals, but give us an idea
of sort of the origins.

Speaker 8 (01:45:08):
Of the foundation, how you choose which initiatives are going
to be involved in, and ultimately the work that you
guys do.

Speaker 5 (01:45:15):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 21 (01:45:16):
So really, the foundation was sparked from Joe's Heisman speech
where he addressed food and security in Southeast Ohio when
he was up there accepting the Heisman Trophy, and that
really just was a catalyst for us to be able
to help people in Southeast Ohio specifically. And then shortly

(01:45:39):
after Joe said, you know, this seems like I've got
a pretty good platform and could really help a lot
of people, and so he launched the Joe Burrow Foundation
shortly after that, and the three areas of focus for
US regional or geographically are Southeast Ohio, Cincinnati, and then

(01:46:01):
of course Baton Rouge with Louisiana ties. And we want
to be able to get back.

Speaker 8 (01:46:08):
To all of those communities.

Speaker 21 (01:46:09):
And so this event with the ties with Marti Gras.

Speaker 8 (01:46:14):
And Louisiana.

Speaker 21 (01:46:16):
Background, it seems like a great fit and we're very excited.
We were really excited to hear that one hundred percent
of the gift and our sponsorship would go directly to
serving children in the Cincinnati area.

Speaker 8 (01:46:30):
All right, Gordy, let's talk about the Night of the seventeenth.

Speaker 2 (01:46:33):
For folks who hear this and want to be a
part of it, I can emphasize enough how cool of
an event this is.

Speaker 8 (01:46:39):
Where do folks go to get tickets? What else do
they need to know?

Speaker 7 (01:46:42):
Well, they can go to our website Marti Gras and
ky for Northern Marti Graky dot org or the easy
one is Marti Gras twenty twenty six dot org.

Speaker 8 (01:46:53):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (01:46:54):
Either one of those sites will get them to where
they can buy tickets, where they can see more about
the event. Certainly would love to have corporate sponsors or
associations jump in and provide a sponsorship to helpe raise
money for this For this benefit, we raise about two
hundred thousand dollars a year a little bit over and
for two point nine million into thirty five years we

(01:47:14):
had the event running our thirty four years. This saventy
fifth year, we'll actually go over three million marks, so
we're really excited about that, and we're also excited to
have the Joe Burrow Foundation as our presenting sponsor.

Speaker 2 (01:47:25):
I cannot recommend that event enough. It's Tuesday February seventeenth,
Marti Graw twenty twenty six dot org or go to
Marti Gras NKY dot org. It is going to be
a blast again Tuesday February seventeenth at the Northern Kentucky
Convention Center. And my sincere apologies for the audio quality
you just listened to there. That was It's it's been

(01:47:48):
a few years since I've run aboard, and I tried
to today and I hit the wrong button. So hopefully
you could hear that audio and it worked out. But again,
the most important thing is you have a chance to
help homeless children in our area and have a great
time in doing so. February seventeenth, Mardi Gras nky dot org.
Bengals pep rally is in our place tomorrow. I know

(01:48:09):
it's going to snow tonight, but if you're on the
east side of Cincinnati, will be at Belterra Park at
the FanDuel Sportsbook for the Thursday night football game. We've
got some cool prizes to give away. Don't forget Sunday morning.
We're at the Holy Grail before the Bengals game. Hope
you join us beginning at nine a m. We're done
thanks to a tarn plan for producing. Thanks to you
for listening, and have a great night. This is ESPN

(01:48:29):
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
