Speaker 2 (00:04):

It is always a treat to get a chance to
spend a few minutes chatting with the legendary Ken Anderson,
who in spearheading the Ken Anderson Alliance. Has a big
event coming up hard Rock Casino Friday, June sixth.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
Ken and Friends.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
An evening of awesome food, lots of fun, and some
awesome stories from Ken Anderson and some of his former
teammates and former Bengals. The Bengals Ring of Honor inductee
kind enough to give us a few minutes. It's good
to have you, sir. How are you?
Speaker 4 (00:40):
I am doing great, moth. Thank you very much.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
I appreciate you doing this. What is going to be
happening at hard Rock Casino on Friday June sixth.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
Well, it's all going to be because of PQL being
our main sponsor. But it's Ken and Friends. This is
our second year for it, and this year the theme
a little bit different, kind of focusing on former that
turned broadcasters, so kind of headlining Bob Trumpy, you know,
and I don't know if people realize that when Trump
(01:10):
he retired, Uh, he was the lead analyst for NBC's
football coverage, and he was also in the eighteenth power
on NBC's golf coverage, so we got some great stories.
He's not that good of a golfer, and of course you.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Know, yeah he was.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
He was.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Also he was also a decent radio host.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
Yeah he was. I think he was. He had the
first call in show, uh you know, upply In fact,
he started when he was playing, and that was the
big battle with Paul Brown. He wanted to do it
when he was still playing. Paul told he couldn't bust it. Well,
yes I can, and he did it. And as I remember,
his first guest was me. He says, Kenn, you gotta
do it. You're the only one they can't touch. So
(01:55):
I was his first guest before he started over at
l W. But then and then Boomer Siason coming in,
you know, of course he went right from playing to
Monday night football and uh got how many years has
he been with CBS, uh, you know before this last year,
but uh, you know he's going to come in. He's
(02:15):
broadcasting nineteen Super Bowls.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
If you can believe that incredible.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Uh. Dave Lapham, of course, you know, my roommate knows
more about me than most people, so I'm a little
bit nervous about this one. Uh. And Solomon Wilcotts, who
had a great career with with CBS and Sky Sports
and he's still broadcasting on Serious XM on NFL Radio.
So it's a it's a fun day. We had a
(02:41):
great time last year with it. You know, Ted Carriss
was there and Mary Brenneman and Zach Taylor and uh,
you know, I always said, say, you know, these are
scheduled to appear because Boomer Boomer was supposed to come
in last year. And I get a call at noon
and uh, he said, Kenny, all my fights are canceled
(03:02):
because of weather out of New York. So we're hoping
for good weather this year.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Yeah, let's hope.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
So all right, so you have all of these men,
everybody there obviously that you know, and then the event itself,
what happens.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Well, you know, it's drinks, it's dinner. And one of
the things, we've got a great live auction. I've got
an original seatback from Riverfront Stadium signed by all the
league MVPs that played in it. So obviously Boomer and
I for football, and Bench Morgan, Rose, Foster and Larkin
(03:35):
for baseball. We've got a canvas print of a painting
of Boomer, Joe, Burrow and I that we've all signed. Wow,
We've got two opening day tickets for all the Broadway
Series shows at the Aeronoff Center in the Orchestra section.
(03:57):
And I think that I'm gonna be able to finagle
a suite at a Reds game, and you know, guys
like maybe Doug Flynn might show up there and me
to kind of host that deal too. So that's We've
got some really unique stuff that we're gonna be autographing
and and a couple of very exclusive jerseys that we're
gonna be auctioning off too, So I'm still waiting for
(04:19):
the final results on those.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
All right, So this is gonna be Friday night, June
sixth at the hard Rock Casino Downtown.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Where can folks go to get tickets?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
If you go to Kenanders Alliance dot org. It'll tell
you all about it how you can buy tickets there.
But like I say, it was, it really is a fun,
fun night, and.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
No it sounds like it and the cool thing is
and you and I have talked about the Ken Anderson
Alliance many many times. It funds the work you guys do,
which is so important.
Speaker 4 (04:50):
Well, I tell you what, you know, we're trying to
make the lies of adults with developmental and disabilities better.
And we've got to great staff out there and between
our adult daycare services, our music's therapy, our engage outing
is our job training, job placement. We're servicing about three
hundred adults a week and so very proud of the
(05:13):
things that we get accomplished, you know there, And and I,
like I say, it's we're just trying to make somewhat
of a difference.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Friday Night, June sixth, hard Rock Casino, Ken and Friends.
It sounds like an unbelievable evening. Everything benefits the Ken
Anderson Alliance. Have you been Have you been following the
ups and downs of the Bengals off season?
Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yes, I have, so you know it's we don't know
anything until they put on pads. Yeah, you know, it's
I just know that, you know, I've been down there
a couple of times and talking to the coaches that
they're very excited about the way that the draft went
for them. So I give them the benefit of doubt.
(05:58):
They know a hell of a lot more about it,
and I do, you know, And I think the thing
that's a little unsettling right now, it's the Trey Hendrickson
thing and how this has turned out where he's got
to you know, show up, you know, at practice to
talk to the media.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Can can you imagine somebody doing that in your day?
Speaker 1 (06:18):
You wouldn't be around very long, I don't think, I know,
I know one thing. We wouldn't have anybody say that
they wouldn't play without a new contract. They won't make
that much money.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Anyway, that was that was certainly a spot. Yeah, maybe
Trey's got a lot of free time now, maybe he
can come to Ken and Friends what you know.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
We'll have to see what goes on there. But he's
but he didn't fit into this year's team. He's not
a broadcaster.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Well if he's doing and i'd have you.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
But he never played for the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
For the Bengals, yeah, yeah, well maybe.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
And I must speaking of that, I must say I
went down to smoke Chesters to see you for the
the the schedule reveal last night, and and you weren't there.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I was thought, you know, we we had you know,
we had a lot going on because we had Pete
Rose night, and so I was at the Holy Grail
and then I had to do extra innings because Lance
was at the Lance McAllister and Tony were at the
schedule show. So I missed you. I would have been
that'd have been That'd have been cool to see you.
We could have had a cold one.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Well, yeah, and I owe you a couple by the way,
I think. But yes, you know the reason I actually
went down there, It was brought to.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
You by you know, a door, that's right.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
And uh, I was gonna go down there and try
to drink on Bill Webbert and he wasn't there either.
Speaker 3 (07:32):
What the so you had to buy your own beer?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yeah? I did.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Wait a minute, Ken Anderson walks into Smoke Justice, which
had I'm sure a bunch of Bengals fans, and and
the guys got to pay for his own drinks.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
Well, and and Richard Dick lannionwer was there too.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
And you still had to pay for your own drinks.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Well, that's exactly right, but you know that's that's the
way things go.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
So well, I understand you do owe me a few
beers because I won one of your contest once. But
I just I enjoy holding that over your heads much
as I'll actually enjoy having the beers.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
We do have to get that done though, soon we do.

how quick that he was going to replace me. You know,
