Speaker 1 (00:00):
Not to get really busy for FC Cincinnati starting tomorrow
night in Miami. Five matches in fifteen days with the
League's Cup starting here very very soon. First match for
FC Cincinnati and that competition is going to be in
six days. First things first, FC Cincinnati versus Miami tomorrow night,
road match for the Orange and Blue starts at seven

(00:21):
to fifteen. No, Lionel Messi a suspension because he skipped
the MLS All Star Game. FC Cincinnati just played Interer
Miami last week and won that match decisively by a
score of three nothing. Watch the game on mL Season
Pass Apple TV, and that's where our guy Taylor Twelveman
will have the match for us and kind enough to
give us a few minutes today. Taylor, it's awesome to

(00:42):
have you. Good afternoon. How are you good?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (00:45):
But I'm good. Do we like this rule that if
you skip the All Star Game you have to miss
the next regular season match?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
No, but I also think, you know, we've got to
have a little bit of perspective of when this rule
came into play. I was on ESPN at the time.
There's a lot t on Ibrahimovich, one of the greatest
players of his generation, asked for more money, skipped the
All Star Game in Atlanta against Juventus, was rightfully so
suspended afterwards. And the reality is when the rule came

(01:14):
into place, the league was at a different place. I
think the reality is this is that when the Club
World Cup came into play this year, the schedule became
congested for LAFC, Seattle and in Miami, and I think
the league probably wishes they would have reflected on that
looked at it the fact that an FC Cincinnati and
other teams got a nine to eleven day break while

(01:38):
those teams are playing in the Club World Cup. I
think they probably would have given those three franchises the
option for those players to play in the All Star Game.
But a rule is a rule, and so whether or
not you believe a rule is antiquated doesn't mean that
you also can't believe that a rule should be followed.
And I ultimately think Don Garbin made the right decision.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Days these two sides have met FC Cincinnati and they
were coming off a real, real heartbreaker of loss to
Columbus just days prior dominated Miami with Messi on the pitch,
Evander was awesome last night. What from that match do
we apply to tomorrow night.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
I think Miami's gonna be extra motivated because of this
Messi and album missing the game, and I think FC
Cincinnati's got to be prepared. I think Pat Newan's not
an idiot, and he'll have his team prepared for that.
I think the fans of Cincinnati, and I know I'm
sitting here on the ESPN radio here in Cincinnati, a
lot of conversation and a lot of talking from you

(02:38):
guys on the ruling whether or not Messi and Alba
should be played, should play. The reality is now there's
real pressure on Cincinnati. You got to deliver. It's a
good team with Dinner Miami with Messi without Messy. Yes,
are they different? Sure, I'm not an idiot, but the
point being is that they're still a good team. They're
gonna be chomping at the bit. They're gonna be at home,

(02:59):
and I like Pat Noon and Matt Mioska and this
group regrouped after that disappointing loss to Columbus and took
care of Messy. But that was their third game. If
not in seven to eight days for Miami, this is
going to be a rested group. I expect maybe the
game of the year with how both teams are going
to be going after it. But Cincinnati knows in the

(03:20):
back of their mind that if they win Saturday night, Now,
all of a sudden, you're making it really, really difficult
for Miami to have any part of the supporter show
race of the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.
So I it feels to me like a real opportunity
for Cincinnati to eliminate Miami and in some respects and

(03:43):
just have to narrow it down to the other teams
in the East.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, that's well put. I like the fact that we've
established that neither you or Pat Noonan are idiots. That's
that's very very important seventeen Tomorrow night, Uh, handicap it. Look,
the match tomorrow is going to go a long way
towards determining how the East unfolds, and obviously the supporter
shield as well. And last time we had you on,
we talked about the Eastern Conference. It's still really really tight.

(04:07):
It's still really really good at the top. How do
you break it down?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Yeah, I think Nashville's thrown a little bit of a
wrinkle into that last time you and I spoke. I'm
not sure we would have had Nashville in the conversation.
Philadelphia has limped a little bit after an amazingly hot
start for them. I think Columbus is going to have
something to say because they're this summer window going to
make a signing or two that's going to enhance their roster.
I still look at it as Cincinnati's to lose. I

(04:34):
think they're the most balanced. I think they have arguably
the best player in the league not named Messi in Evander.
I think he's been brilliant and I think he's only
going to get better if Denk gets healthy. I just
I like Cincinnati because Miovska is coming back healthy, is
playing himself in the match. Fitness Miles Robinson returns from
national team duty depends on how they look at League's Cup,

(04:57):
and I expect them to look at this and say,
we're gonna play a mixed bag of roster just so
we can preserve the legs. This is about Cincinnati winning
the supportershield and the number one C and East. I
think it's theirs to lose.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Yeah, I would agree with that, and the bounce back
after that loss to Columbus the way to me, it's
been a hallmark of Pat Noonon's time in Cincinnati, where
they will they'll lay a clunker. It doesn't turn into
consecutive clunkers. They'll lose a heartbreaker, and unfortunately they've got
a little bit of a track record of them in
matches like the one against Columbus doesn't affect them the

(05:30):
next go round. There's lots to love about Pat noon
And this is more of a statement than it is
a question, but to me, that's at the top of
the list. The bounce back ability, both from victories and
from tough losses, has been something to watch.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, you lose to Columbus in the fashion that they did.
Usually Pat Noonon and a staff will have a good
conversation with the players and have it kind of laid
out on the floor. I can promise you this. After
the loss to Columbus, there wasn't a lot of listening
from Pat Noonon in the staff. There was a lot
of hawking, and I think that established exactly where it was.

(06:04):
He's always been a straight shooter. Dominic Kanear, Kenny Arena,
everybody else on that staff, Chris Ali right, there's no
real bs around them, and so you're gonna see you
see what you get, and I think after Columbus they
had it coming to Jesus, for lack of a better
way to put it, of saying, listen, either we're gonna
do this or not. That's why the win against Miami
was such a big statement in my opinion, because not

(06:26):
only was it a win, it was a dominating win
with Messi on the field. That's why I think tomorrow
night's even a better opportunity for them, knowing that Miami's
gonna be a little bit angered at the suspension, so
now they're at home. If you can win on the
road against Miami where Cincinnati's arguably the best team in

(06:47):
the league on the road, great opportunity to really put
your foot on the pedals, so to speak, and take
that number one see in the East.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
Awesome stuff as always, can thank you enough. Should be
a lot of fun. Tomorrow seven teen Apple TV MLS
season pass We'll be watching Taylor.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Thanks can't no proper buddy,
