Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, Tony, let's talk about yesterday a Bengals training

(00:01):
camp practice. You and I were there. Now, Shamar Stewart
made headlines because he sort of hit Joe Burrow yesterday, which,
all right, you can't do that. Let's tell the rookie
to stay away from Joe Burrow at least, let's not
make hard contact with him. But it was impossible to ignore,
as it's been impossible to ignore all throughout training camp.
How disruptive he was.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Yep, the day he showed up at camp. He has
been everything you want in a first round draft pick.
At times, he's dominated, he's been consistent. He flashes in
individual drills. You can see the explosiveness at which he
is able to operate with It jumps off the page.
And I think the hardest part is the one knock on.
Shamar Stewart has always been what you gotta be able

(00:42):
to finish, and now yesterday we're knocking the guy a
little bit because he was finishing, because he was trying
to get to like, you can't have it both ways.
Lucaspatrick should have been able to put up some resistance,
and if he didn't, he shouldn't have shoved the guy
into the back, which then pushed him into Joe Burrow.
As simple as that, this was not on Shamar Stewart.
Shamar Stewart has been everything has advertised. He's getting better

(01:06):
each and every time we see him. Which has a
rookie in a new defensive system. That's all you can
ask for on a team that is desperate to have
playmakers on that side of the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Unfortunately, you cannot ignore the fact that we could talk
about their inability to block Shamar Stewart. Even taking that aside,
yesterday was not a good day for the Bengals offensive line.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, and you know, I think we said maybe a
week or two ago at training camp, the old line
has not been good enough. What happens if we get
to another week and they're still not good enough? When
do you hit that threshold if you're the Bengals front
office to say, wait a second, our backup options right
now are Cody Ford and Courda twos. That's not good enough.

(01:47):
We need to figure out a plan B because you
can't just let this linger and then all of a
sudden in a week or two you bring in a
guy and maybe he's ready, or maybe he's not. By
week one. But you can't let this play out any longer.
There half to be significant improvement or there has to
be a significant change on the Bengals offensive line.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Bengals are off today, back in the practice field tomorrow
morning at ten o'clock. We'll have it cover for you
on the AE Doorn Window Tony and Mode Training Camp
show starting at ten on ESPN fifteen thirty. And on
Monday night, we've got the Bengals and Commanders. That game
will kick off at eight o'clock. You'll hear it live
on ESPN fifteen thirty and one oh two point seven
w EBN with Tony Pike. I'm Meeger
