Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tony. The Bengals have this weekend before they take on
the Washington Commanders on Monday night. We've talked a lot
about Shamar Stewart, his positive impact, maybe him getting a
little bit too close to Joe Burrow at times. We've
also obviously talked a lot about Trey Hendrickson. Right in
the middle of those two is Miles Murphy, a player
they drafted in twenty twenty three who has done very

(00:22):
very little. Now will see, We'll see if Miles is
able to play. He obviously did not practice on Wednesday.
We'll see if he's a go today. But at some point, man,
you got to see something from Miles Murphy. There are
a few players on this team that you could say
have a bigger put up or shut up season than
this kid.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yeah, put up or shut up now or never, whatever
phrase you want to throw in there.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Mo.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
We have waited and waited and waited for Miles Murphy
to be the player he was drafted to be. And
look to the Bengals credit. They didn't draft Miles Murphy
and throw him into the Sharks. I thought that the
plan with Miles Murphy was understanding. We've got Sam Hubbard
we've got Trey Hendrickson, but this is going to be
the plan B. This is going to be when those

(01:07):
players either move on or we move on from those players.
Miles Murphy is ready to be the guy every single snap.
We even talked at the time he was drafted about
using three defensive ends in opportunities to get Miles Murphy
on the field more because we thought he would be
that dominant. He looks physically every bit the part that
you want. But for whatever reason, whether it's a mentality,

(01:30):
whether it's a technique, he's just not able to finish.
And at this level, you either have to finish or
you've got to be able to make the opposing quarterback
uncomfortable enough that it's going to cause a momentum play
for the defense. He's just not been able to do that.
And in his first opportunity against a let's call what
it is, second and thirdeen guys for Philadelphia, he was

(01:54):
non existent in that game. He was I believe he
got two assisted tackles. Nothing else other than that. It
is every bit of put up or shut up if
you're Miles Murphy now, and for the Bengals, again, another
first round pick that you're hoping is going to pan
himself out.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Bengals are back in the practice field this morning at
ten o'clock. We'll have it covered for you on the
AE Drin Window Tony and Mode Training Camp Show starting
at ten on ESPN fifteen thirty. And the Bengals play
their second preseason game on Monday night against the Washington Commanders.
It's a road tilt for Cincinnati. It'll kick off at
eight o'clock and you can listen to it in its
entirety on one oh two point seven WEBN and ESPN

(02:32):
fifteen thirty with Tony Pike. I'm Oeger
