Tony. The Trey Hendrickson saga, at least for a while,
is over. He is reportedly signing a one year contract
with the Bengals that will make him among the highest
paid players in the sport for twenty twenty five. It's
not a long term deal, but it's a one year contract.
What are your initial thoughts?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What initially hit me was the fact that it's just
a one year deal because for so long we thought
Trey Hendrickson was looking for the guarantees in the year two.
We thought we wanted long term, you know, flexibility and
security for Trey Hendrickson. Now I get he gets a
substantial raise thirty million for a year. What I like though,
And I think right after it happened yesterday, Paul Danner

(00:39):
Junior hit on it. You're also going to get a
Trey Hendrickson that's upset and still has something to prove
going into this season, and I think there's value to that,
the chip on the shoulder. I think it's a good
deal for Hendrickson because he's going to get an upgrade,
and I also think it's a good deal for the
Cincinnati Bengals because they're not tied in long term to
Trey Hendrickson, and they're also showing that, yes, we are

in that win now type of mentality.

At the very least, Tony the only thing that mattered
to most of this, and I'm sure to a very
large degree, the only thing that mattered to Bozach Taylor
and Al Golden. Trey's going to be on the field
against the Browns a week from Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, and he's got an ample time to build up.
You know, I think I originally thought week of the
game he's going to get something done. This gives you
the rest of this week, all of next week to
get yourself geared up and ideally not be any on
any type of you know, restriction from a playing standpoint,
that you can go out there and ideally have a
major impact on the game. And let's not forget at

the very core of this, you're adding a very good
player to what has been a very sub par defense
throughout the preseason.

Bengals have Trey Hendrickson in the fold. He along with
his teammates, will take on the Cleveland Browns a week
from Sunday. That game is in Cleveland, It kicks off
at one o'clock and you can hear it on ESPN
