Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tony. On Thursday, the Bengals played their first preseason game
on the road, battling the Eagles in Philadelphia. But I
want to talk about something the Bengals did late last
week and signing free agent tight end Noah Fan the
latest I think, and a long line of tight ends
who are just going to fit seamlessly into an offense
and allow Joe Burrow to help him get paid.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
You know, you came up with the stat when this
was originally reported that the Bengals were ninth in the
NFL operating out of twelve personnel, two wide receivers, two
tight ends, one running back. And that was with Eric
Hall when he went down. Imagine what that number would
have been hit he played all year. This from a
football NERD standpoint, I love twelve personnel. You put pressure

(00:39):
on a defensive coordinator because the defensive coordinator essentially has
to match the personnel and go bigger, bring an extra
linebacker into the game, and then you have advantages in
the passing game. Or even though they're not great blockers
in their career, you I asked Mike Kasicki and Noah
Fan to block a nickel or a dime corner if
you decide to go small and play coverage, You create

(01:00):
more running lanes for the running back. You create play
action pass opportunities. You can go max protect with eight
men protecting and two men routes with Jamar Chason T Higgins.
This team, I think it is core, wants to operate
out of twelve personnel the most. This gives them the
ability to do it with a guy and Noah Fan
who's excellent after the catch, with yards after the catch,

(01:20):
and a guy who was drafted in the first round
at tight end just a couple of years ago. I
think there's a ton of upside in this move.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah, no question about it. And I think a lot
of folks who looked at this and said, wait a minute,
do they need another weapon kind of forget that last
year in the draft they took two tight ends, Eric
All unfortunately is hurt, not going to play this year,
and the other kid, Tana McLaughlin, completely unproven in the NFL.
Bengals and Eagles. On Thursday night, Tony and I have
the Tony in Moode Training Camp Show this morning at

(01:47):
ten from Bengals practice on ESPN fifteen thirty with Tony Pike.
