Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sure have twenty four from US six. This is ESPN
fifteen thirty Moegger broadcasting today. We can't thank the folks
here with the LPGA Tour, specifically with the Queens, the
Kroger Queen City Championships out of IPng, and the folks
at TPC at Rivers been for being so hospitable to
us today. I got here a little before two o'clock.
(00:23):
We had our setup and I was told, you know,
Reagan Holgate from Fox nineteen is going to be there,
and I said, that's kind of neat, and then I
was told, actually, she's like an awesome golfer, loves to
talk golf and should probably actually be playing in this event.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
So here she is.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
You've been in You've been on Fox nineteen maybe a
year and a half, a little over a year now, okay,
a little over a year. What's awesome to have you, Thanks, Mo.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
It's so good to be here, is it? It is?
Speaker 4 (00:49):
It's an honor, truly, and to be out at a
women's golf event.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I mean, this is my bread and butter.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Right, this is what I list. This is your wheelhouse.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
It is it is.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
So we were talking off air. You you played in
high school.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
I did, right, yep, small town in Michigan, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
And then the Internet tells me you played club golf
at Michigan State. Is the Internet wrong or do I
just not know how to read? And by the way,
that is a bona fide possibility.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
The Internet lied to you, Mo, And honestly, I wish
I played club golf at Michigan State. I wish I
made that team. I still think about it to this day.
Those horrible nine holes I had.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
Mane, I want to back.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
So bad nine and you can't make the club golf
team at Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
They were good, Yeah, they were really good.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
But you play a lot now I do all the time,
and you follow the LPGA Tour.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
I do, so this is AKA Tour as well.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
So I mean I covered the Memorial back in May.
That was my first PGA Tour event that I've ever covered.
This isn't my first LPGA Tour event. Cover the Solheim
Cup when it was in Toledo right twenty twenty one.
I was working for the LPGA at the time, got
to intern for them. So now to kind of come
full circle again to have an event here in Cincinnati
that I get to cover.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Oh Man, gives me so excited.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
And the thing that we've talked about here is when
when this event first came about a few years ago,
it's like, yeah, okay, let's see if it works. And
it has and it's become one of the main events
of late summer early fall.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
What was it the numbers I saw last year, fifty
thousand fans in attendance throughout the throughout the weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I would expect possibly even more this year.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I mean, it's huge to think that women's golf can
can get those kind of eyeballs here in Cincinnati is
pretty exciting. And I was listening to actually Nelly Corda,
I wanted to hear what she had to say after
her round today, and she was saying that even for
the even for the players on tour, this is an
event that they look forward to, that they want to
come back to because of so many reasons, the fans
(02:45):
being being up there.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
For shure, it's an amazing field.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah right, I mean you, okay, who's going to show
up literally this year?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Everybody the most stacked field.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
I know, it's only been happening for four this is
the fourth year now, but the most stacked field in
tournament history, and to do it right here, right now
is so awesome and the and for these ladies to
be showing.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Out, yeah, nine under on day one?
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Excuse me?
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Now, if you would have shot that on your tryout
for the Michigan State Club golf team, who knows what
would have happened.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
The Internet probably wouldn't be lying to you.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Again, the Internet might be telling the truth. I just
don't know how to read. How often do you play.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Now because you're busy? You govern the teams?
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yeah right, and it's football season now, it's all over.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
Got high school? Your Friday night high school show? You
guys do a Fox nineteen. And I've said this publicly
and I've said it to Joe and Jeremy is awesome.
And I'm not like a high school football diehard. I
just want to know, like who won? See if I
hear a kid's name that I know it's old school,
it's terrific, it's comprehensive. And then all the Bengal stuff
(03:51):
you guys are doing. So I know how busy you are,
but are you still able to get out and play?
Speaker 4 (03:54):
I try to play at least once to twice a week,
really yes, and I would love if it's twice a week. Okay,
I don't have time to go to the range, which
is hilarious because my coach would probably topple over right
now if he heard that. But I actually sent him
a screenshot of my handicap the other day and I said,
(04:15):
I'm doing just fine.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
I promise, are you going to share the handicap with us?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
It's at a five point six right now, so we're
doing just fine.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
But now when you what do you like to play? Oh?
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Everywhere my goal and if you follow me on X
it's been to get to as many local courses around
the area as I can public of course, and there's
so many great tracks around Cincinnati and in and around
the Tri State.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Favorite so far probably has to be Stone.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Lick, okay from the East Side.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Yeah, yeah, I got to make a drive sometimes for
a lot of these courses.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
But look, it's for the love of the game.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
Sure, yeah, that's that's a great place when you go
out and play. Is it because I go out and play.
It's well, we're gonna we're gonna load.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Up the cooler.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
We're going to bring a few cigars and uh, we
might even stop writing the numbers on the card midway through.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
That doesn't strike me as your deal. MO.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
This is the first time we've done this together. Let
me just give you a little insight here. Okay, I
am one of the most competitive people.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
So you're throwing clubs and stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
No, no, no, no, I relax. It's one shot at a
time here. But I'm out there for the handicap. And
I tell this to my friends when we go out,
and I have a group that I play with pretty consistently.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
I'm out here from my handicap.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
So you're with it.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
You got the USGA app out, putting in the slope rating?
Are you doing all that stuff?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I do want a track to see if I'm hitting
the fairways? Am I in the fairway off the tee?
Am I hitting greens? In regulation? The answer is most
likely no, because I am one heck of a scrambler. Okay,
I gain all of my shots around the green. Put
a pitching wedge in my hand, put a sand wedge
in my hand.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Good things are most likely going to happen.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Okay, yeah, all right, but but this is yours, your take.
So like if you and I played, you know, I
think after about the third hole, you'd be like, I can't.
First of all, I'm waiting for this guy to find
this ball. Secondly, like he's here to have fun. You're
here to go on the app and improve your handicap.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Yes, exactly, But you know what, I have a lot
of patience. But look, the USGA gives you about three minutes.
I'm gonna give you ninety seconds to find your ball.
If not, let's drop a move on.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
I am not dissimilar.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
I mean it's I've played with people where it's like, buddy,
let's go.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
I will give you one of my balls. Can we
just can we just go?
Speaker 4 (06:23):
And that's actually been a big talker on the LPGA
tour this season, in the slow play that they've been having.
They had a meeting yesterday to talk about this event
and kind of gauge where they thought things were going
to be at around a little over five hours for
eighteen douls.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
They're gonna play until dark tonight.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, slow play.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
I can't do it.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
If I get over about four hours, I get antsy,
what are we still doing on the course.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, I'll give it four and a half because but
you're good, so not as many shots are required right,
do you play in outings?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I've been asking a few, but they're all they're all
on weekends I work on, and have we got sports
to talk about?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Like a lot of outings are on Mondays.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Sure, okay, look I will say this and I will
say it publicly. If you need a ringer, Yeah, put
me at the ford TI's and let me drive some greens.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
The outings I play in, like usually I show up
and like, oh great, he's here. We need we'll need
a ringer. So like you know, we're getting clothes. It's
football season for you. But next year things calm down,
Like in the spring, we'll go to one of these outings,
you and I. I'll do my thing, you'll do your thing,
and we'll put a low number on the card and
(07:33):
win something.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Would love that? Would love that.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
I've played in a few outings and one I did
win longest drive and also I drove a fe a
few greens. Because when I average about in the LPGA Tour,
players average about two twenty to two thirty off the tee,
I'm in that. I'm in that circle. Still gonna make
the club team, right, but we're in that realm.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Huh?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Could do we have the name of the club coach,
can we have it? Get him on and find out.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
It was a student at the time, So you got cut.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
From the club team by a fellow student.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Oh Man, Michigan State. I love doing but that one hurt.
That one it hurts even more now because I'm such
a hobby golfer. Now I don't have time to go.
And I always said that one of my goals was
going to be playing in the USGA Women's Midamateur Huh.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
I would love to.
Speaker 4 (08:23):
I just don't have the time to put into it
to be able to practice. But now it frustrates me
because I'm a really, really good hobby golfer and I'm like, man,
if I could just have more time, who knows what
I could be?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
Well, you know that's bragg you.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I mean it is, But I can't create more time
for you. I could just tell you I'd like to
see this. I'd like, I'll carry the bag perfect.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Well, are you going to provide anything drive the bag?
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Am I going to provide any insight?
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Yeah? No, okay, I'll tell you what a hole we're
on and Reagan, we're teaing off on seven? Okay, eleven
more after this one.
Speaker 4 (08:58):
I think a lot of my friends would love if
I was the one that's like, oh yeah, let's let's
crack open a few.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
No, that's not it's not in my blood. I can't
do it.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Huh, all right, Uh, we'll work on that.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah, I'll see a lot of help.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
And right you're on from here at six fifteen. I
am on Fox nineteen.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yes, we're gonna talk. We're gonna talk more golf, and
you're gonna see me get very excited. There are a
few things in this world that I get super excited
about golf.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
This is one of them. Ye okay, very good. Well
I might stick around and just watch you do that
in person.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
We'll see. Thank you for stopping by.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
No, I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
Doing a terrific job at Fox nineteen. Your sports department
is first class all the way.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
We love it.
