Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jay Morrison Pro Football Network, the Bengals Pro Football Network podcast,
as well on x at by Jay Morrison does the
walkout with Paul Danner Junior on The Growler and joins
us every Thursday, Jay, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Hey Mo, just got the injury report. Looks like T
Higgins came back to work today.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Oh boy, now this is exciting. It's a step in
the right direction. It points toward him playing on Monday.
Do we know extensively how much we should expect to
him to play on Monday.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Yeah, we don't know that. Not of this will depend
on how the hamstring responds, how he feels tomorrow. But
it it seems like trending in the right direction. I mean,
working out on the field before the game Sunday and
Kansas City getting back on the practice field today. I
would think that it would be an all or nothing
thing where they're not if he's not ready to go,
They're not going to put him out there in a

(00:52):
limited capacity. So I think if he plays, you can
expect to see pretty close to a full workload.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
All right, So Tea plays, T dresses, somebody then has
to be the odd man out. Does it become Jermaine
Burton in spite of his forty seven yard deep catch.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I don't know about that, just because there's so many
other injuries right now that they're dealing with and who's
not going to be up and I think right now
it might be Trenton Irwin would be the odd man
out there. You've got the the explosiveness from Jermaine Burton,
and I just wonder, now, you know, what does this
mean for andre yoshi Vas Because yeah, he was He's

(01:30):
their wide receiver three, and you expect him to play
a lot. But the way this team has really leaned
into the two tight end sets, and you got two
tight ends out there and two wide receivers, So if
it's Chase and Higgins, that second tight end might be
eaten into some of yoshi Vas's snaps.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah. I mean, there's there's a lot to love about
what's happening at tight end. Eric Hall looks like an
absolute dude. Mikeasicki has obviously been very productive. One of
the things I'm kind of interested in is you talked
about explosiveness. We saw it from Chase Brown on Sunday.
We did not see it from Zach Moss. Could there
be any alteration in the distribution of touches at running back.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, I think that is their plan. You know, Dan
Pitcher said today that it's not been by design, it's
been the way things have worked out. I always thought
that they would lean a little more into Moss early,
just because he's the veteran and we just saw so
little of Chase Brown last year. But I didn't expect
the disparity to be as great as it has been.
And I do think they're going to find a way

(02:27):
to get Chase Brown the ball in space. Maybe not
as many rushes as Zach Moss, but get him some screens,
get the ball in his hands one way or another.
You know, we've seen it. He can take it all
the way, no matter where he is on the field.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Jay Morrison is with US Pro Football Network. What are
they going to do on the defensive line? I know
they've signed a guy who's been in the league for
fourteen years. There's a reason why he was available. What
are they going to do on the defensive line, specifically
stopping a team that obviously is going to come here
looking to run the football.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, and they ran the ball really well last week
against the Giants. The commanders did. Chris Jenkins was back
at practice today. That is a good sign. He had
thumb surgery two weeks ago. They thought it was something
he could play through. He had that practice, he had
that right hand just rapped like a club. So he
said he would talk to the needy tomorrow. He didn't

(03:21):
want to talk to day. He had to get treatment.
But it seems like he's trending towards playing too, So
at least that's another body in there. And then Lawrence Guy.
I mean, if there's a position where you can just
get a guy off the street and have him play
a few snaps, I think defensive tackles did, especially a
big body like him, they can just get in there
and take up space. And I do think we'll see
him play some. But yeah, you're still thin there because

(03:44):
it doesn't look like BJ Hill or Sheldon Rankins are
going to play today. VJ was on the rehab field.
Didn't see Sheldon Rankins out of practice at all. They
were both officially non participants in practice.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah, it touched how excited I am about Lawrence Guy
that I could remember his last name was Guy. I
forgot that his first name was Lawrence, which is why
I didn't say it. I'm ready Jay for Monday Night.
I need the Dejon Anthony Redemption Game. So we obviously
talked a lot about him in the aftermath of the
game on Sunday, he was on the field for fourth
and sixteen. People are still arguing about whether it was

(04:16):
past interference. I've stopped caring about that. I am rooting
for the Dejon Anthony Redemption Game. Could I get it
as soon as Monday night?

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Oh? Yeah, I think you can. We're not going to
see him play fewer snaps. He's kind of developing into
that tight end, especially in terms of coverage, and like
Trey Flowers was a couple of years ago, Dejon did
not want to talk after the game, understandable, did not
want to talk Monday. Understandable. Today he met the media
and said he's watched that play a thousand times, and

(04:45):
he said he wasn't exaggerating. His lock screen on his
phone now is Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelcey, and he
is determined to see those guys again. And he was
very resolute in his belief that everything's going to be fine.
He said it was absolutely the hardest thing he's ever
had to deal with and there is no close second.
But he's put it behind him, ready to move on.

(05:07):
And that guy, he had a terrific camp. He's here
for a reason, has a seventh round pick, and I
do think he's gonna see his role expand. I don't
know if you see the pick on Monday night, but
he's gonna make He's gonna making plays all year.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, no, I'm I'm hopeful for that Jay. Awesome stuff
as always. Man, Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
All right, thanks Bo
