Speaker 2 (00:00):
This is Skyline Chile sincey three to sixty about Cincinnati
from Cincinnati, sponsored in part by Skyline Chile. Stop by
Skyline Chile for a three way or chee Coney today.
Feeling good. It's Skyline time. This is ESPN fifteen thirty,
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
I'll tell you what. It's always Skyline Time.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
Always it is.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Since he sixty and Uh, we're live at Bengals training camp.
We just wrapped up the Tony and Moe Football Show
portion of our training camp coverage. Now it rolls into
Cincy three sixty, that'll roll into the Mowagar Show. So
moving to the second stage of our training camp coverage. Obviously,
we are here thanks to many people, our friends at
(00:45):
AE Door and Window where they sell the best and
service the rest. Special thanks to Adam Weber for sponsoring
this broadcast at Bengals training camp and for all his
continued support of the Cincinnati Bengals all these many years.
Mowager is still here. Hi, Austin Elmore is with Uswood Studio. Austin. Uh,
You've had a chance to listen in and produce the
(01:08):
last two hours, and I thought it was interesting, you
tweeted it out. The big takeaway from me at this point,
if you're just doing here, we go here, we're catching scuffle,
We got a little we got, we got some keats
at this mos been waiting for this.
Speaker 4 (01:23):
We got.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
We got some downtown fighting that's actually somewhat sanctioned in Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Here Orlando Brown Junior started it. Now he's walked away.
This brings me to one of my favorite portions of Campo.
When something like this breaks out. We go to Paul
Danner Junior's rankings of what that constitute says. That was
nothing more I think than a scuffle. Yeah, nothing after
(01:48):
the whistle scuffle, It's dissipated at this point.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
Not a brawl.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
I wonder if that was due to the fact that
the defense has pretty much won the day today. Not
a Donnie Brook maybe the offensive line getting frustrated.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Not a frakas m scuffle. Maybe maybe it's hot, did
you put it? The offense has been getting worked and
maybe it's.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Spilled over Austin. Are you nervous at this point of
what the guard situation could look like when the regular
season starts.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Been nervous for weeks. It's been my biggest concern I've
said it over and over and over again. I don't
care if the receivers are here, if the quarterback is here,
it doesn't matter if they can't protect Joe Burrow.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
We have seen two panted practices now, and both of
those panted practices, I think you can make the argument
that the offensive line has been dominated up front, and
for the most part it's been a talking point. The
defense has more than held their own, especially when you
get into the red zone. That was the case again today. Yeah,
we've seen andre yoshawas had a great day, but most
(02:45):
of his catches have been contested, fantastic catches. Yeah, that's
good coverage. We've seen t Higgins get loose a couple
of times. Jamar Chase really hasn't had an impact play
in today's portion of camp. He's been found a couple
times in short yardage, but he's not had an impact
play that You've seen a missed assignment or something down
the field that the defense has given up. Josh Newton
(03:06):
has flashed, Jordan Battle has flashed. Cam Taylor Britt has
flashed the interesting portion today. DJ Turner was getting third
team reps. You know, so Al Golden has been very
quick to move guys around. But I think overall we'll
get into the winners of today's practice. But today's practice
is still going on.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
That's what stands out to me more than anything else.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
I mean, this is now dipping into over two hours,
which is unheard of for training camp right now, if
what it's been with the Cincinnati Bengals. But they're getting
a lot of workout he out here today on what
is an extremely hot day, where again the overall consensus
for me has been a day the defense is one.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
This is the first year that I've been able to
broadcast here with you. So for years, they've been practicing
at three o'clock, which is when I go on the air,
And you've done the reports at three forty five, four
forty five, and five forty five now for ten years
or whatever. And so I can't tell you how many
times our show has started at three, you've done the
three forty five report. By the time we have you
(04:07):
at four forty five, you're describing practice being over. You're
talking about kids getting autographs and stuff. So that's you know,
basically an hour and forty minutes practice is over. These
guys were on the field at ten this morning, it's
four minutes after twelve.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Yeah, and it might be wrapping it up right now.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
The last playoff team was another run play attempt that
was completely completely engulfed by the defensive line.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
So one of the things that has stood out to
me here has been the length of the practices relative
to what I'm used to, which is, you know, they're
usually you're telling me it's over by four forty five
when they start at three o'clock.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
But and normally, what's been the theme, if it's been
ten years of what I've seen at practice was YEAES
offensive line wasn't good enough.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
And Austin they weren't Austin.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
That to me is that's worth mentioning because you could say, well,
it's a one off offense versus defense. The defense got
the better of the offense, especially upfront at the point
of attack.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
That's a good sign for the defensive line. And all that's.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
True, except it's been such a recurring theme, and that
recurring theme has ended up foreshadowing an offensive line that
when the games actually start, doesn't adequately protect Joe Burrow.
Speaker 5 (05:10):
Yeah, I mean, the conversation from the very beginning was
can Cody Ford actually be a starter and can Dylan
Fairchild pick it up and start as a rookie in
the NFL. And I think the boat the thought was
either way, both of those guys will be better than
Alex Kappa and Cordell Volsen were a year ago. And
while that's a really really low bar, and yes, the
offense performed in spite of that, that doesn't mean that
(05:33):
you should keep playing with fire because eventually you will
get burned. And we've seen them get burned multiple times
in the past. And so, going back to the conversation
that Zach had the other day about not putting labels
on things until after two preseason games, well after two practices,
I'm putting a label on the fact that the offensive
line is still not good enough fair.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
And it's been the overriding theme of how great it
is that you got Jamar and t under contract, is
that they're practicing, how great it is that there's not distractions.
There has and there always be will be one thing
along the way that can derail everything you hope that
this team can be. And it's if Joe Burrow's not playing.
It's if Joe Burrow is not protected in the way
(06:15):
that Joe Burrow should be protected. We saw today a
Joe Burrow that when his portion of the team drills
were done, was pacing right, taking a step away, standing
by himself. We're gonna have an opportunity today Joe Burrow
is gonna speak to the media. So we'll get to
that on cinty three to sixty when it happens, We're
obviously gonna dive into Trey Hendrickson being here on cinty
three sixty today. But the overriding theme right now, and
(06:38):
it's fitting that Joe Burrows doined this. He's he's getting
some gassers in, yeah, getting the legs ready, Yeah, so
he can run away, So he can run away from
the defense.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
But like, this unit doesn't deserve the benefit of the
doll correct that they have been so suspect for so
long that it's it's at like we talk about what
the like, they have not deserved the benefit of that
when it comes to the trade deadline, they may surprise
this and do something we don't expect, but typically, you know,
(07:07):
it ends up being a little bit of a thud
with this offensive line. They don't deserve the benefit of
the doubt if they start to turn in one good
day after the other, and in the preseason they look
dramatically better. And the games begin and they're keeping Joe
Burrow upright and he's not always on the run and
they're not playing with fire enough, like all right, then
we'll stop talking about it.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
We'll stop talking about.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
It during next year's training camp if the defensive line
has a good day. But I want to credit what
Al Golden's unit is doing up front. But the theme
is the same, and it's a part of the Cincinnati
Bengals that we have been discussing for ten years. And
so when that's the case, you don't deserve for me
to go. You know what, it was just a bad day,
(07:49):
or it was a one off, or you know what,
you'll get him tomorrow. I can't help but wonder, And
it's not me being pessimistic. You can't help, but wonder,
is this a sign of what it's gonna look like
when the games again.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
And it's not to take away what the defense has done,
because the defense I thought has played well. They flashed
again in the red zone, they forced a red zone interception,
they dominated the line of scrimmage. But the thought I
keep coming back to is last year the defensive line dominated,
and they were one of the worst defenses in the league,
(08:21):
and you had one of the best offense in the league,
and Joe Burrow still wasn't protected. You're playing with fire
if you're the Cincinnati Bengals. If you allow it, and
as Austin brought up, you know you're not a valued
Zach Taylor some of my two preseason games. If this
is a super Bowl window, then there should be super
Bowl urgency three four days in. It's not getting better.
(08:43):
What's our contingency plan in the is the contingency plan
Lucas Patrick and Cordell Volson. That's scary.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
And the other part of this is think about today's practice.
Amarius Mims in three straight team periods did not participate.
What do you do if he goes down? You can
put another rookie out there in Jalen Rivers who did
not necessarily perform well today in team periods either. According
to all those that were there, I mean, the depth
in those rooms, in that entire room is just so thin.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
I mean, if we're talking about the starters struggling, then
that already says there's no depth building. We talked today,
Say what you want about them. There are different players
in the secondary flash and you have some depth there
of players that you can move around. I thought, for
the most part, on a day where you didn't have
Logan Wilson due to a vet day, I didn't notice
(09:36):
in a poor way outside of some one on ones
where he was asked to guard Chase Brown, Demetrius Knight
Andrn Burks must have held their own. The front four
must have held their own. And we're still talking about
t Higgins made some nice plays, Yoshi Vash flashed, But
in large part, these to me are more questions that
you're having to answer. And it's unfortunately been the theme
(09:58):
of so many training camps that I've been down here
of walking away most days in saying it's a bad
day for the old line.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, and what does it mean for a week from
tomorrow against the Philadelphia Eagles, when Joe Burrow is gonna
play right, you know? I mean he might play ten snaps,
he might play five snaps, he might have I mean,
who knows. But this offensive line is a work in
progress because of what they're doing at guard. It's clearly
struggling a little bit right now. You're gonna put Joe
(10:28):
Burrow behind that on August seventh, not September seventh. August seventh,
the whole hey play the starters in the preseason thing
goes away if if if something happens to a guy
like Joe, something happens to any one of the guys
who matter the most. And so that offensive line that
we watch today is not one that I'm comfortable putting Joe.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Sorry, if that offensive line from now until camp and
doesn't get better, how would you feel going into too
Week one against a bad Cleveland Browns team, You'd be concerned.
Speaker 5 (11:04):
Still in the best pass rusher on the planet in
Miles Garrett.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
It is.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
To me it is extremely worrisome at this point, and
that's not what you want. You want to be highlighting
the good things the defense have done. Like there were
points today in practice and I mentioned this to you, Mo,
it wasn't like the defense was hiding a bunch. They
were lining up and just playing fast, which is everything
we talked about wanting from Al Golden in this defense.
(11:33):
And you tip your cap and you give credit to them,
but let's not get this twisted around. The offense should
dominate the offense should dominate these practices.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Well, and they didn't on Monday either, right, right, And
you know Austin mentioned that it's two consecutive padded practices,
so today is not a one off.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yes, it was an offense, I know, an opportunity to rest.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I equated to the Reds. For years, we've been talking
about how they need right handed power bats, they need
corner outfielders, they need guys that can provide pop, and
they just have gotten guys like Austin Hayes and Connor
Joe and whatnot. For years we've been talking about how
the Bengals need better pass protectors. And while they have
invested in that position at one point, like a top
ten paid offensive line in the NFL, they were okay,
(12:19):
but they were never really good, and you kept putting
yourself in a situation where Joe Burrow is running for
his life. I mean, hell, the Super Bowl is a
perfect example. Half second more they win the Super Bowl.
We've been talking about it for years, and yet it
doesn't feel like there's any urgency to really address it.
Speaker 7 (12:36):
Now.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
The free agent pool of guys out there may not
be game changers. It's not like you're signing Max Montoya
and Anthony Munios. I get that, but those guys are
at least probably better than the guys you currently have
on your roster.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
When the season ended, none of us envisioned to scenario
where they draft one guard and sign one guard, right,
I mean it was.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
And if they were signing a guard, you'd think a
big splash guard.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Yeah, like it was, boy there, they're really gonna retool
the interior that offense.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
But because the thought could have been if they used
a first or second round pick on a ready to
go guard and then they signed a major splash guard,
I think you would have felt better. Right. We sat there,
watched the draft and was it Zabel from South Dakota,
nokot He went eighteenth, he went the very next pick.
I've I've followed along a little bit. They're saying good
(13:29):
things about him in camp, Like you had a chance
to take a guard early in the draft. Now, I
don't think you're gonna get beat up because the defense
was such a question mark that you had to address it.
But no one viewed fair Child as day one. That's
an easy fill in. Yep, it's it's it's his I've
watched fair Child he's athletic, he's strong. His footwork's not
(13:52):
where it needs to be. Like if this team were
starting the game tomorrow, I would feel concerned about where
his footwork is. You got a long you got time
to fix that. But he's not a finished product right now.
And I just bored has been a backup. He's going
to be a starter. It's it's a fair question.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
I just keep coming back to the Super Bowl we
all watched in February, where that Eagles defensive line dominated
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. I don't know
how you watch that and not think, gosh, we've got
to protect our quarterback. We've got to come up with
something better. And I mean the tight end position, even
it's not like Mike Giseki is really a tight end
(14:30):
and not like you're going to be using those guys
in past protection. I mean multiple times we've seen Drew
Sample assigned to an edge rusher to try to chip,
and that's like their best hope at times. There's got
to be a better plan to protect the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
To me, that's the keyword plan. What is the plan?
If we are having the same conversation a week from now,
what is the plan if it doesn't get any better?
That to me is the biggest because again, you could
still say when they're early in camp, it's a new
offensive line coach, they're getting a new scheme set. But
(15:06):
if it's like this a week from today, getting ready
to play against the Philadelphia Eagles, what's the conversation pivot to?
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Well, and I think one of the frustrating things about
what the plan was on the offensive line is, you know,
they admitted that having to get Tea and Jamar done
when they did, essentially diverted their attention away from being
as active in free agency as.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
They would like, Yeah, how's that excusable?
Speaker 3 (15:34):
It's not.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I mean, like awesome that Jamar and teer here press
conference was fun. Love those players, but really, and and
NFL franchise can't multitask free agency and upgrade and upgrade
a position group that has been a problem for a
long time and simultaneously key players who are core to
this team's identity.
Speaker 4 (15:54):
Like that. Again, I come back to the beginning of.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
The off season when the three of us, each in
our own way, talked about like, boy, this offseason, you know,
hit a home run in free agency and then get
a guard early in the draft, or hit a couple
of doubles in free agency and address it in the draft.
It feels like maybe they hit a maybe they hit
a single or a double in free agency. Single, and
(16:18):
they took a guy in the third telling fair Child
man up being a really good player. I hope the
goud he is. But you're asking a lot, right, You're
you're asking a lot of him. By the way, like
a Marius Mims is not a finished product. We we
like what they have to work with. There's no question
about that. Seems like he gets it. Saw a lot
from him last year. Not a finished product. Ted Carris
last year. Ted Carris last year played okay, But it's
(16:41):
another year for Ted Carris.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Is he great?
Speaker 4 (16:44):
No, like he's a low ceiling player.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Orlando Brown is a solid left tackleog granted that there's
just relative to no doubt, but relative to At the
start of the offseason, if I would have outlined the
Bengals plan on the offensive line being what it ended
up being, it would have said that that's not good enough.
And yet here we are in late July. It doesn't
still doesn't feel good enough. And at the root of it,
(17:08):
all again. I came into camp this year, I expected
the offense was gonna dominate, especially Trey Hendrickson hasn't practiced
yet and Shamar Stewart just got here.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
So no, it's not a shot at McKinley Jackson or
Shamar Stewart or Miles Murphy or Chris Jenkins or Joseph Osai.
But if as an offensive line you're struggling against that group,
what does that say about some of the opponents you're
gonna play this season? You know, the brown to You're
(17:40):
gonna play twice the Pittsburgh Steelers, or you're gonna play
twice the Baltimore Ravens, who have completely retoold. I was
watching videos the other day of Mike Green completely running
guys over from a defensive line standpoint at practice. Like
I when this camp started, I thought we would be
sitting here talking about Man, the offense has been dominant,
and that was the expectation. Because you got a new
(18:02):
defensive coordinator, you don't have all the pieces on defense,
and you're trying to implement something with a group that
was very bad last year that essentially brought back the
same core pieces. We're talking about. How good the defense
has looked, which in turn raises the question of where
the offense is. Again. We'll have a chance today to
play some Joe Burrow audio as we get into the show.
(18:23):
But by all accounts, I think there's a little bit
of worry right now camp. I think that would be fair.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
All you can do is respond and react and process
what you're watching.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
What we watched was not a good performance by the offensive.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
I'm just glad you're here this year so that we
just don't get bashed for being negative.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
But it looked I can go the positive route.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
The Bengals upfront on defense got the job done today
that you cannot ignore that. And the Bengals in the secondary.
When we were watching red zone.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Drills, when you took the old line out of it
seven man, there was a lot to like.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
And I love the confidence they're playing with. You could
acknowledge all those things. I come back to what we
have said during training camp every year, and I know Tony,
for years you've gotten pushed back, Oh, you're overreacting to
the offensive line struggling in training camp. Oh it's just July,
and every year in October and November. I think back
(19:20):
to the warnings you gave folks during training camp. Guys,
this offensive line is having a hard time. This offensive
line is struggling. That goes back to before that offensive
line they went to the Super Bowl with in twenty
twenty one. That goes back to before Joe Burrow was drafted.
That goes back to, you know, the latter stages of
Marvin Lewis's time here. When something is a recurring theme
(19:43):
and you see something in real time that is a
continuation of that recurring theme, how is it not at
least a little bit a little bit troubling.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Yeah, you can't just continue to go down the path
of asking Joe Burrow to be Superman. That is not
an effective way for a franchise to to compete for
Super Bowls. Just go be Superman, Go be superhuman. Lift
us in the areas that we're not good enough in.
That's that's a hard thing to do. We're just getting started.
(20:14):
We got plenty more to go. Since E three to six,
We're live for Bengals Training Campus a special edition thanks

some awards we do when we come back Winners of
the Day.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
I got some awards I'd like to give out right now, Losers.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Of the Day, and we got to give out our
award for a first first on the practice field?
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Do we give an award for the first like that
was the first that we've seen scuffle kerfluffle?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (20:55):
Do you have one last off the practice field?
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Well, that's still up for We've still got some players
signing autographs and doing stuff.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
We'll get to that as well. Thanks to Skyline Chilli

We'll be quick here and then we'll get back. And
we do have to talk about the news of yesterday
into today. We're not going to hear from Trey Hendrickson today.
But Trey Hendrickson was here, he was at practice, he
is reported, he's now, he's now I believe holding in
(21:47):
instead of the holdout. We'll dive into that before we
do that, since we only have a minute or so,
do you have a winner and loser of the day
in mind?
Speaker 4 (21:57):
You know you're not going to go with an entire unit, right.
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Sure, can't do that. That's the easy way out.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Is Trey Hendrickson eligible? Can you be eligible? If you're.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
I'm gonna give it.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
I'm gonna give it to him. Okay, I'm gonna give
it to Tray and we'll talk about it. Because at
the top of the show, we wondered, like, all right,
is he just gonna be here? Is he gonna be
standing around moping?
Speaker 9 (22:16):
No?
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Like he was he was active.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
Yeah, he was a he didn't practice, but he was
not a non participant.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
And he also isn't fifty thousand dollars lighter in the wallet?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Okay, any day where you don't lose fifty thousand dollars
and you help your teammates. I think it's a good day.
I'll call Trey Hendrickson. All right, today's winner.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
I'm going Josh Newton, thick Newton, Yeah, an interception of
Joe Burrow, Like you mentioned that anytime you can pick
off Joe Burrow in a red zone setting and then
to be able to go and vomit, yeah, and then
get back on the field and make more plays. Josh
Newton is my winner of the day today. Do you
have a loser? I now loser I could give to
(22:54):
a whole group.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
I don't want to try to make anybody like nauseous.
I despise throwing up.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Yeah, spot you had a front row seat for it.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
When I hear or see someone throwing up, I want
to throw up. And so watching Josh Newton about forty
feet from us tosses cookies like that made me again.
I'm people are eating lunch right now, likes cookies.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
I hate throwing him.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
My daughter got up yesterday morning and threw up small
stomach bug and like, I feel so bad for it
because I hate that. So I watched Josh Newton, I
felt bad for him. But it's like, dude, now I'm
gonna do that loser of the day. I know you
want to give it to the offensive line.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Also, I'll say winners of the day because I think
this has been the hottest practice of the day. These
fans did not leave until practice ended. So the fans
get a nod as well.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Okay, I'll go with that.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
The fans get a novice.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
I'll go with that.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Also, dak Sell might be the last guy still signing autographs,
even though one fan I think misidentified him as.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
Mixing at him. That fan might be the loser of
the day.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
That's the loser of the day, the person who you
And to Dax Hill's credit, he smiled, walked over.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Yeah, signed the autograph.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Now I get maybe the three at an angle and
twenty three can look like an eight. Joe Mixon here
for eight years, very recognized.
Speaker 5 (24:16):
Like it don't look alike at all.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
It would be like one thing off, like this was
last year and Joe had just left the team. Joe
Mixon played for the Houston Texans a full season last year. Yeah,
like his presence on the Houston Texans was one of
the main storylines of last season. How do you and
it was an adult right, Yes, it wasn't some little kid,
it was an adult day. That's the loser of the day.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Can I give a winner and loser from my perspective, Ye,
My winner is Trey Henderson for helping Shamar Stewart, being
involved in the drills and not talking to the media.
I mean, I know that's bad for us, but not
talking and not being a distraction. He's the winner. And
the loser is DJ Turner having a bad camp all
the way down with the threes now doesn't look good
(25:00):
for him.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Good, good call there, honorable mention Olivia Ray. Yeah, yeah,
Channel five.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
The winner shows up, shows up to camp and she's
got a three or four month old baby, and you
know she's taking she's shooting film holding the infant, not complaining.
I mean, just just total pro not even sure where
that video is going to go.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
But Olivia Ray, Lucas Patrick was the first one on
the field today.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
He was good for him and worth mentioning because he practiced. Yes,
you know there obvious said missed a few workouts, but
practice today, which is not insignificant.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
We have we have Roster news, we have Trey Hendrickson news,
We'll dive into that when we get back. Cincy three
sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to Skyline.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
Chili Imagine Being Cincinnati.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Welcome back Cincy three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station,
Live from Bengals training Camp. It is now the Cincy
three to sixty portion. We just wrapped up the two
and Mode Training Camp Show. Thanks to our friends at
AE Door and Window. They sell the best and service
the rest. Also Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOE five
one three five three Oakley Greens. All the sports, all
(26:11):
the time, all at Oakley Greens. This is the Airport
Payton Body broadcast area and we will take some phone
calls as we get into the show. On the race
Saint Clair Roofing Hotline, Your Homes Trusted Problem Solver. We
spent the first portion of the Tony and Moe Training
Camp Show talking about Trey Hendrickson. Didn't spend a ton
(26:31):
of time after that discussing it. Major news last night
that broke that Trey Hendrickson was reporting to training camp today.
He's obviously not practicing, but to fill you in on
what happened today, he was out here when practice started,
he was wearing a Bengal shirt for what it's worth, uh,
and he was very active in drills that were happening.
(26:56):
Based on talking to coaches, talking with players. There's a
video I think Joe Daniman headed of him working with
Shamar Stewart. Everything I think you hoped Trey Hendrickson would
do when he came eventually to training camp. Outside of
him not being able to practice at this point because
the deal is not done, but he's not speaking to
the media. He's not today. Yeah, today, he's not been
(27:19):
a distraction by any means. Today, I think it's been
a welcome sight. The player seemed to have been responded
find to him being here. All in all, I think
it's a good day for the Bengals and a good
day to have Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
I think the question is what changed, because last week
it was I don't want to be a distraction. I
can't hear the practice whistle from my house across the river.
I'm gonna go to Jacksonville, Like what in five days?
What's what's two thousand dollars a day? That's what's changed.
I mean, But like, dude, you knew you were gonna
get I couldn't care less whether Trey Henderson gets fined
or not. But like you knew you were gonna get fined.
(27:51):
You knew if he didn't show up, So like, was
that really it? Like the realization hit you? Oh yeah,
Like hell, I gotta write a check every time I
miss practice. But you know you asked it to me
and Austin, maybe you have a sense of of how
close this is to getting done, or how closer it
is to getting done.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Austin used the.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Video, Yeah I saw, but the does does him?
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Does him showing up tell us that I think most
of us have believed all along that they're gonna get
something done? Does this push that closer to a reality?
Does that push this closer to something that's gonna be.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
Reality really soon? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Here's what I do know. When he came to an
Ota practice, he made it about him. You you you
may think he was justified in doing so. You may
think it was a clown show. He made that about him.
So I wondered today was this going to be more
of that? Was he gonna saunter out here, call everybody
over and plead his case, or was he gonna be
if not practicing at least a participant. Was he gonna
(28:55):
grandstand or was he gonna help? Maybe he ends up
grand standing today.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
He helped.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Today, he looked like a good teammate. Today he looked
like somebody who was interested in helping guys who have
yet to accomplish what he's accomplished. And that's that's not
that's not nothing. I hope it continues. I think for him,
he's doing the right thing by not talking to the media. Yeah,
but you know, now it's not I think we've all
(29:21):
thought this is a matter of when and not if
does the win move up a little bit relative to
what our expectations were prior to Yes.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
A lot of the quote unquote insiders still say that,
you know, this is still a ways away from being done,
Like they're still pretty far apart. So listening to that,
I think, Okay, this is mainly about Trey not wanting
to continue racking up fines. And you know, Burrow's talking
right now, and Burrow even said that he's like, I'm
sure fifty thousand dollars a day is part of the
reason why you want to get back as soon as
(29:49):
you can. And I'm sure that is. But also because
he didn't go out of his way to come and
talk to the media, and he didn't just stand there
and do nothing, and he wore a Bengals shirt and
a Bengals hat. That maybe, to me says he's telling
the Bengals okay. Because there are also reports that the
contract is mostly done with the exception of just the
(30:09):
guaranteed money, maybe that's his way of saying to the Bengals,
all right, I thank you for getting us to this point.
I'm going to come in and do my job and
try to get us ready for the season and try
to get myself ready for the season. Hopefully we can
get this figured out between now and the Saturday before
we leave to Cleveland. I don't know that it's necessarily close,
but it's a lot closer, it feels like than it
(30:30):
was two weeks ago. And for that, Trey not wanting
to get fined and also acknowledging that there have been
steps taken in the right direction, is saying, Okay, I'll
come back to Cincinnati.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Yeah, I think you know understanding you don't want to
get fined. I think if if there was a if
there was something that pushed the two sides further apart
from each other.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I would have a hard time.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Believing he would show up, or that he would show
up and do what he did today. And again, like
what he did today, he looked like a guy taking
of that day. He looked like an active member of
the football team. So I credit him for that. But
it's still fair to wonder is because he has kind
of made this up as he goes along. Does he
decide tomorrow or does he decide after another week, like
(31:11):
if nothing's getting done, you know, okay, I'm gonna talk
some more. And when he has talked some more, it's
always struck me as kind of counterproductive.
Speaker 10 (31:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
Again, I started earlier this morning with the thought of
he's either here because they're getting closer and this is
a move by him to say, hey, I appreciate this,
let's make this happen, or this is a guy who
they're not getting closer. And he said, well, if we're
not getting any closer and I keep rocking up these fines,
isn't gonna be good. So I'm gonna have to show up,
(31:40):
and by doing so, you do things the right way today.
So I'm sure as a conversation to him, and his
agent had of hey be the ultimate teammate, be a pro,
be a pro. But if this lingers to the end
of this week, if this lingers to next week, does
the tone or the demeanor of Trey Hendrickson change? Does
he say, Okay, you know what time I speak to
(32:00):
the media, it's time that I get something done here.
I think that is going to be the fascinating part
about it.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
It's being a professional.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
I mean, in any workplace setting, I said this to
you at ten o'clock, In any workplace setting, you'll find
people who, you know, they're not nuts about who they're
working with or what they're making or something about their employment.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
But when they're assigned to work, especially with other people,
you're expected to do a job.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
And you know, I think it is fair if you're
a Zach Taylor and Al Golden to go, dude. If
you're here, you're a player who's under contract for the
Cincinnati Bengals, we have an expectation a bare minimum. You're
at least not a distraction, and if you're not going
to practice, you're at least participating in helping. And you know,
and again it's like, also, you've made a big deal
(32:44):
about you want to be a captain, and I dumped
on them last week because I think the idea of
I want to be a captain, Well, you can't be
a captain from Jacksonville if your team plays in Cincinnati.
So show up and do some captain stuff today he did.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
It also was not the only move that that we
saw today. Seth mcloughtin has passed the physical. Thank god
he's able to join the team. That's big.
Speaker 5 (33:07):
You guys didn't release pay this now Zach McLoughlin, he's
going to be the guy who replaced Depth. He's going
to be the guy Depth. Trust me, believe.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
In Seth offensive line Depp. They also release Zach Moss.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
You know, here's why I believe in.
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Jim is in the house.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Let's get this.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
He also is wearing all black today.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
Philip Esteak, Oh, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
That's it doesn't get any better. Our guy, Jim mooreing
has stepped up in a big way to take care
of us. Yep here at Bengals training camp. And uh,
we're excited because we obviously have pregame shows that happened
at the Holy Grail. We do yes, and we got
to get some clarification on a preseason pregame Showim while
he's here. Yeah, August twenty third, one o'clock game away
(33:57):
at your spot.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Let's let's make that all right.
Speaker 5 (34:00):
Well, no presser, Jim.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Anyway, if you know anything about Cincinnati, you know the
Holy Grail just up the street from the stadium. If
you're coming to training camp practice, grab lunch at the Grail.
Of course we broadcast before all the home games. Reds
are home tonight.
Speaker 5 (34:25):
Well it's uh, it seems we lost our connection with
Tony and Mo down at Bengals training camp. So clearly
the food is just that good from the Holy Grail,
and Moe was mentioning another big game tonight for the
Reds at home at Great American Ballpark against the Los
Angeles Dodgers, with of course show hey Otani on the mound.
(34:47):
So what we're gonna do is we're gonna take a
break and when we come back, we'll hopefully rejoin Tony
and Mo live from Bengals training camp and continue the
conversation because they're still Trey Hendrickson to talk about Zach Moss.
We were going to get into as well. That's all
coming up as we continue to break it all down
here on since E three to sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
All right, welcome back, since he three sixty ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station thanks to Skyline Chili. This is
all part of our expanded Bengals training camp coverage. We
got to thank our friends at AE Door and Window.
They sell the best in service. The rest special thanks
to Adam Weber for sponsoring this broadcast at Bengals training
camp and all his continued support of the Bengals all
these many years. Now, he's not doing an official media
(35:39):
I would say John Borrow, not a press conference. Joe
Burrow's note a press conference. Trey Hendrickson is talking at
his locker right now. Charlie Goldsmith is tweeting along with
what Trey Hendrickson is saying. Said that the plan was
to be here day one. Nothing has changed. Well, he
wasn't here on day one. That doesn't make much sense. Okay,
(36:02):
He's going to avoid being a distraction the best he can,
and that there's a common goal to get a deal
done between both sides. That is so far what we've
gotten from Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
He also just used one of your favorite phrases Tony.
He was asked what he's proven in his career, Oh boy,
and he said, the hey is in the barn. It's
just whether we agree or not.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
He's going to avoid being a distraction as best he can.
How hard is it?
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Correct? And the plan was always to be here day one.
This isn't day one of Camp Pale. This is two
hundred and fifty grand him.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
I don't know, man, there is a part of me
that believes like he thought that.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Whole fine thing, like I won't have to yeah, sure.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
And then you know, like got an email after day
one like you owe the Cincinnati Bengals fifty thousand dollars
Like that's pretty funny, guys. And then after like day four,
he's like, oh man, hang on, let me do the
math here. Well, the plan was to be here for
day one.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Well, then you know he could have been here. Nobody
were here, nobody was keeping him from being here.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
Now he decided to head to Florida.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
He's gonna avoid being a distraction as best he can.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Thanks, thanks for so am. I Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Gotta avoid being a district. It ain't that hard, man.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
That's what I mean to do. We'll spend some more
time on Trey Henderson. I know you're getting ready to
run after this. We're gonna get Joe Burrow's press conference
to kick off our number two. Mo we didn't get
a chance to do this with Austin. Let's recap what
you and Austin both witnessed at Great American Ballpark last night.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Well, I witnessed Moegar, and I looked at Moegar, and
I waved at Mogar, and mo Egar waved back at me.
So there was no ignoring.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Of one another. Okay, I was it ignoring.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
I just I want just to clarify.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
I went over at one point to like say, hey man,
what's going on?
Speaker 11 (37:42):
Gone?
Speaker 1 (37:44):
So it's fine, thoroughly disappointing loss. Look, you're up for
two in the late innings. You gotta win that game.
You can't walk to ninth place hitter in two high
leverage situations. Melia Pegan has to get you a chance
to win the game with scoring a one run in
the ninth inning. I didn't love pinch hitting espinall for Freeley,
though I mathematically understand why they did it. The back
(38:05):
of the bench still includes guys like Connor Joe. I
know resigns is only here because of TJ. Friedel's stint
on the paternity list. That was one of those games.
You said it, Tony Austin, maybe you'll agree that the
loss on Monday night felt like all right, lost a
ball game. Last night felt last night felt like more
than one loss. And I know we've said that about
other games this year. Which you didn't want to have
(38:27):
to do was avoid a sweep, and now you have
to tonight.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
For me, it was, you know, the Dodgers really did
a great job defensively of killing those rallies for the
Reds turned two really impressive double plays. The Reds continue
to not be able to hit with the bases loaded,
can't really hit with runners in scoring position. Gavin lux defensively,
I mean I was sitting in left field right next
to Gavin Lucks and I thought that's an easy flyball
(38:50):
out and he somehow couldn't get to it. That's a
major issue. I think it's a part of a grander issue,
which is that the organization has this belief that they
can just put guys any different position they want and
it'll all work out. And it continues to bite them
in the butt, and that's what they saw again last night.
And I think the other thing too is Michael Confordo
(39:10):
is batting one ninety five on the season. He walked
twice yesterday and that turned the lineup over for the
Dodgers and they made the Reds pay.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Yeah, lost, you lost on a night where Otani struck
out four times. That was insane. I did you think
at any point when the Freedom news broke yesterday that, Okay,
maybe it's a one off, maybe it's a two off,
but what an opportunity to maybe move Elly up in
the lineup.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
A little bit.
Speaker 3 (39:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
Yeah, they're just reluctant to do it for reasons that
I don't entirely understand.
Speaker 4 (39:41):
It's tough loss.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
San Diego wins, so now you're three back. I don't
think that going from one to three back or one
to four back should make the front office go, you
know what we were gonna buy and now we're not.
I would like to think they're not that short sighted
and reactionary. But like, yes, they have a lot of time,
exactly one third of the season still remains, but like
(40:02):
you know, you you don't want to have to dig
out of a four game hole, a five game hole,
a six game hole, regardless of what happens in with
the trade deadline.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
Last night was tough.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Now all eyes are on Nick Krawl, and I think
the temperature of the fan base is really going to
be interesting to take based on what they do and
what they don't do.
Speaker 5 (40:23):
As far as the Padres are concerned, they have ten
games remaining this season against the Rockies and White Sox,
so I don't think the Reds have a lot of time.
They haven't had time this whole time. But Nick Krawl
is just kicking tires on guys and not making deals.
But just looking at that ten games against those two teams,
(40:45):
I mean, that could be the difference.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
What do you make of an expectation. Otani's started six games,
He's only pitched twelve innings this year, so it's not
like you're facing Viantajani who's gonna go six seven innings
on you. Right it to me, now becomes a must
win if you want to You've got to get one
of these against the Dodgers, and not in the sense
(41:09):
that the season's over, but here's an opportunity. After you
let one slip away last night, You're gonna get a
lot of the bullpen for the Dodgers today. Maybe even
you'll see Alexis Diaz in dominant fashion again. But I
it's not like you're gonna expect Otani to throw six tonight.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
No.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
I mean, you just don't want to give back what
you gained and you kind of want to get out
of this rut of win three, lose three, win four,
loose three, lose four. You know, like they and I
know they'd come into the series having won fourteen was
a ten out of fourteen, fifteen out of twenty one.
That's really good. It's really good. But last night was
(41:47):
just deflating. And maybe it was that they led. Maybe
it was, you know, that they wasted a good start
by Nickoladola. Whatever it was, maybe it was because Terry
Francona made some moves that were of revisiting. Last night
felt deflating. But what they have done all season long
is right when it feels like it's about to get
(42:07):
away from them, they figure out a way to get
the season back on course.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
They've got to do that tonight.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
Yeah, I better figure it out tonight. We'll break. We'll
say goodbye to Mo for now. But I'm helling you
for quick hits at the end of this show, and
then we'll talk three forty five, four forty five and
five forty five.
Speaker 1 (42:24):
Bill Barnwell asked how many first rounders would it take
to trade Joe Burrow.
Speaker 5 (42:28):
Oh no, there's your one o'clock hour.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
Gosh. Speaking of Joe Burrow, we'll hear Joe Burrow's press
conference kicking off our number two since e three to
sixty on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station uc.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
KY, Cincinnati, make us the number one pre set on
your car radio and on the free, new and improved
iHeartRadio app. Free never sounded so good. ESPN fifteen thirty.
Speaker 3 (42:48):

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Welcome back since he three to sixty hour number two
thanks to since the Shirts on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station. Mo is headed north back up to the
Kenwood studios to get ready for the Moegger Show coming
up from three to six. He'll join us for quick
hits right before that. We are live here at Bengals
Training Camp thanks to a door and window they sell
the best and service the rest. Special thanks to Adam
(43:29):
Webber for sponsoring the broadcast here at Bengals Training Camp
and all his continued support for the Bengals over all
these years. Some more clarification from Trey hendrickson this I'm
reading from Joe Danoman. Joe Danoman asked Trey hendrickson if
there's progress on getting a new deal done. Trey says
things are exactly the same. Also said he wanted to
(43:53):
get back and be a resource for the young players.
Doesn't want to rehash what he said in the spring,
but security is what he values the most. Joe dan
have been posted about two and a half minutes of
Trey hendricks said. We'll get to that an hour number
three for now. The quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, after
today's practice, held his press conference. Here is Joe Burrow
speaking to the media just a few moments ago.
Speaker 12 (44:13):
Feel great, feel great, body feels good. I think this
is the best I'm throwing it in several years. So
I'm excited about that, Excited about where our team's at
to a lot of young guys, stopping out making place
so very optimistic.
Speaker 13 (44:28):
Why do you say that it's the best you've throw
it several What makes you feel that way.
Speaker 10 (44:33):
You're out there every day.
Speaker 14 (44:35):
Are you trying at this point in camp to go
for throws you wouldn't typically in a game like you're
trying to push yourself a little bit.
Speaker 12 (44:43):
Further depends on the period seven on seven ye uh
team periods, no team periods. I'm this year, I'm treating
it like a game. I'm final checkdowns, getting enough quick
trying to get get game speed ready.
Speaker 13 (45:01):
How much is his.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
Defense pushing, you know, especially in the red zone.
Speaker 13 (45:05):
It looks like they had a very competitive uriast year.
Speaker 12 (45:07):
Yeah, they're doing a great job. The young vb's are
really stepping up and making making things tough. We're gonna
make plays. Both teams are gonna both sides are gonna
make plays. But you know, their energy, physicality, knowledge of
their coverages I think has.
Speaker 10 (45:23):
Been you know, top level. So that's that's exciting.
Speaker 15 (45:27):
I don't think he gets to talk to you before
the first preseason game again.
Speaker 16 (45:31):
I know you sent a sound con be up to you,
but do you have an idea of how much you'd
like to play.
Speaker 10 (45:36):
Not yet, Not yet.
Speaker 12 (45:37):
We haven't talked about that at all. I'm sure we'll
talk about that more early next week.
Speaker 14 (45:42):
How nice is it is see Trey Hendricks sit out there,
obviously not practicing, but coaching up the rest of the defense.
Speaker 12 (45:47):
Yeah, whenever, whenever you can have a guy like that
in the building, even if he's not going, you know,
it's good to see his face, good to have his presence.
You know, he's gonna play a big, big part of
this team this year, and so just to just to
have him around makes a big difference in the energy
around here.
Speaker 17 (46:07):
What did that entry with that with him out there?
And what did I feel like today? Did you get
a sense that he was there just kind of hanging out.
Speaker 12 (46:11):
But let's practice more so, you know, walking around meetings,
team meeting, training room and stuff like that. He brings
an intensity that is very unique, and so I think
that's good for us.
Speaker 13 (46:25):
What did you say to him.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
Back?
Speaker 10 (46:28):
I love your good to have you back.
Speaker 17 (46:30):
I think you've been really vocal in the entire offseason
about why he's so important to have around, why it's
important to invest him for the franchise. Why, why does
that have you guys went through camp. Has that been reinforced?
Have you kind of has that how you felt about
his presence and what he means here as you've now
been through camp for a week.
Speaker 12 (46:46):
This is the guy that has the most sacks over
the last two years. And you know, production is value
in this league.
Speaker 10 (46:55):
You know, you can I think you're.
Speaker 12 (47:00):
Such a good player, but not have any production. It
doesn't really matter. So when you have a guy like that,
you want to reward him.
Speaker 13 (47:07):
What kind of message you is there?
Speaker 14 (47:09):
Hard for you to be patient when these contract things
are going on that you can't necessarily control. But obviously
you know how important train it is.
Speaker 12 (47:20):
You know, it's not it's not up to me. That's uh,
that's the business of the NFL.
Speaker 10 (47:27):
You know, things.
Speaker 12 (47:31):
Usually go until There's not a lot of teams getting
these big deals done early in the offseason, only only
a couple. I think it's a pretty commonplace across the
league to have these things done around this time, a
little later, towards towards Game one.
Speaker 10 (47:44):
So that's probably what you're gonna see.
Speaker 18 (47:48):
What's your opinion on the shift in recent years from
em like can you get me a water please?
Speaker 13 (47:56):
What's your opinion on the shift from the holdouts to
the hold ends become more and more common around the league.
Speaker 12 (48:03):
Well, guys don't want to get fined. That's fifty K
a day's that's not pennies right there. So I think
that probably plays a big part of it.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
You've talked a lot about how important your diet is
to you and being able to get you to the
farmies that you're playing at, tweaking it all during strains
have given just.
Speaker 13 (48:24):
Like, kind of how hot it is outside or is
it similar to what you'd be enjoying.
Speaker 12 (48:31):
Eat a little more calories in the training camp, make
sure hydrating a little more, and I kind of just
do it based on how I'm feeling for an extended
period of time. If I'm feeling slow and sluggish, pull
back on the on the carbs and the calories. If
I'm happy with where I'm at, then you maintain we're
always in a constant dialogue to change and tweak things
(48:52):
depending on how I'm feeling.
Speaker 19 (48:53):
We've seen a lot of your connection with Andre Yoshi
boss on a lot of plays that become non script
during games. But it feels like this camp, your chemistry
you're timing with Andre is at another level, How do
you feel about the chemistry with camp.
Speaker 10 (49:07):
Yeah, he's having a great camp.
Speaker 12 (49:09):
You know, everybody knows the I'm gonna throw a number
one at number five, you know, but there's a lot
of teams that do a really good job of, you know,
taking those two guys away. And when you have a
guy like Andre, you have a guy like Mike main
Chuck both really stepping up this camp. You know, we're
(49:29):
we're as deep as we've been at the receiver position
since I've been here. And then you have guys like
Mitch and Isaiah having great camps as well.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
You know, we.
Speaker 12 (49:46):
Somebody goes down, you can put somebody right there that
we have a lot of faith in and has executed
really well in training camp.
Speaker 10 (49:51):
Obviously, you know some of those.
Speaker 12 (49:53):
Guys don't have a ton of game reps yet, but
you know, when they continue to make plays in practice
when they we haven't had a ton of mental errors
that receiver ones or two is this this camp either,
And that's very rare. I think the young guys are
doing a great job studying the playbook, studying the script,
knowing their jobs, and so you know, I feel I
(50:18):
feel great about where where that room is and you
know there's going to be injuries. Guys are going to
go down, and we have guys that we can plug
right in.
Speaker 19 (50:25):
It's it easier to make those back shoulders and those
scene throws to a guy with Andreke's body tight and size.
Speaker 10 (50:32):
Yeah, he's doing a.
Speaker 12 (50:34):
Great job of locating it, finding it and making an
aggressive play on the ball. Now, I would say when
he got here, that was not his strong suit and
he's worked really hard at that to make it a
stronger area of his game. And so he continues to
show that in practice. He's going to continue to get
opportunities for that in the game. And you you build
(50:55):
that trust and then you're going to get those opportunities.
So he's going to keep keep doing that, and I'm
going to keep trying to get the ball.
Speaker 13 (51:01):
You talked a little bit about it.
Speaker 20 (51:02):
Probably a new defense from the younger guys in the
intensee the red zone period. Obviously a new decoordinator trying
to turn around what was a struggle after your defensive league.
What did you seem first one week or so camp
with that scheme and the way they played very much
standing out to you early on.
Speaker 12 (51:18):
About that year they seem very confident in what they're doing,
and you know they're not having a ton of mental
errors either on that side of the ball. And you
know with a new defense, a complicated defense, and young players,
you know you're usually going to see that we're really
not The dbs are understanding the nuances of the coverage
(51:38):
really well, understanding where their help is, where their help
isn't playing their leverages really sound. And then you know
defensive line, the I think Miles and Joseph are having
a really good camp.
Speaker 21 (51:51):
T J.
Speaker 12 (51:52):
Slaton is going to be a great player for us.
The energy he brings, the physicality he brings, and I'm
really excited to watch that on Sundays and then the games.
The stunts, the things that they're doing on the defensive
side of the ball to create pressure has It's something
that you know, I've gone against for the last several years,
(52:15):
and I know how hard that is to deal with
from a quarterback quarterbacking perspective, and they're doing it at
a at a high level.
Speaker 10 (52:23):
So that's exciting to see too. So then when we
go ninety one.
Speaker 12 (52:26):
Back out there, I think it's it's got a chance
to be a special year.
Speaker 13 (52:30):
I was just about to ask you about that.
Speaker 17 (52:31):
I mean, how much do you think about the fact
that when with all those guys playing as well as
they have so far, have adding train that makes how
much do you does that cross your mind as we
kind of think about the season.
Speaker 12 (52:40):
Yeah, I mean when when they're when they're doing what
they are right now now up up front without without
him out there, you know, it's just gonna go up.
Speaker 10 (52:49):
Another level when he does. You know, he brings to
the table.
Speaker 22 (52:52):
Joe, you said you like with the teams that to
start the press conference is part of that, like just
a raised stand, raising the standard across the organ And
where does that start?
Speaker 10 (53:01):
And are you a big part of raising that standard
as well?
Speaker 12 (53:04):
I try to set the standard every day with my preparation,
with my play, with my discipline, my process, weight room,
training room, everything. I just try to be as consistent
and as discipline as I can trying to set that
standard and try to be a resource for for some
of the guys that are trying to get to that point.
(53:25):
And you know, there's a lot of guys that you
can tell are hungry to achieve, and so that's when
you have guys.
Speaker 10 (53:31):
That are hungry like that.
Speaker 12 (53:33):
I want to take in information, want to create their
own process to be great.
Speaker 10 (53:38):
You know, usually it's going to work out for guys
like that.
Speaker 22 (53:41):
You talked with Trey about his contract situation since he
got back, or do you guys just avoid Dad?
Speaker 10 (53:46):
And if you have talked with him.
Speaker 13 (53:47):
Just kind of where's he standing right now in your opinion?
Speaker 12 (53:50):
I haven't talked to him in several weeks. Last time
I talked to him about it was, you know, before
camp even started. I saw him for fifteen seconds this
morning and then we went off to meetings. I'm so
imp storable, have one shortever today, but I have not exacted.
Speaker 17 (54:05):
I they kind of reshifted the locker room a little
bit to the offensive line sitting over the closer to
you that what did you have any input on how
that was gonna look?
Speaker 13 (54:12):
I mean, how's that? Has that been so far?
Speaker 3 (54:14):
For you? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (54:14):
It's been good. Locker room is the locker room. You know,
it looks great.
Speaker 12 (54:19):
We got plenty of places to put our stuff. We've
got great people in there, so it's uh, it's been good.
Speaker 17 (54:25):
I was really more asking about the personnel that you're
sitting next to a little bit more yeah.
Speaker 10 (54:29):
I mean I'm sitting right there in front.
Speaker 12 (54:30):
Everybody walks past me when they come in when they're out,
so I'm staying hi to everybody.
Speaker 10 (54:37):
It's been nice to have Obi and Ted right there.
Those are my guys.
Speaker 4 (54:40):
So it is what it is.
Speaker 10 (54:44):
Sure, I'm not sure how when you're only there's the
second the practice, but I was just wondering, what do you
feel like the old line is that? And I feel
like it's been really good. I feel like it's been
really good.
Speaker 12 (55:00):
It's obviously different out there when when it's game day
and it's a lot of bullets. Like I've said before,
it's harder to to feel the pressure when you're not
getting touched, you know, in the games, even when you
get pressure but not tackled, you know, usually they're coming
and you know, giving you a little push or putting
(55:22):
their hands on you, so you can tell, you know,
how how quickly they're.
Speaker 10 (55:26):
Getting there, where they are, where they're going to be.
Speaker 12 (55:31):
So it's a little hard to feel that in practice,
but you know, to to my eye, it's been really good.
Speaker 23 (55:37):
And how far long do you feel like building?
Speaker 12 (55:42):
I think he's been great, Yeah, I think he's been great,
great with the cadence.
Speaker 10 (55:47):
Usually that's the Achilles heel of a rookie alignment.
Speaker 12 (55:51):
You know, he hasn't. I think he had one false
start the very first day. I don't think he's had
one since. So that's number one. Number two. He seems
very confident in the calls, his techniques. All the plays
that you know, we're weren't offense that's been together now
for basically five years, plug and play guys here and there.
But you know you're building on the offense that entire time,
(56:13):
and so you know, when you change one thing, then
you go down a different tree of change on that route,
that play, how you talk about it, and so we're
we're talking about things that are very advanced in the
offensive room. And for him to come in and take
ownership of that, I think has been very impressive.
Speaker 10 (56:33):
Jill.
Speaker 22 (56:34):
When Josh Newton picks you off in the end zone today,
are you happy the defense is making plays? Are you
more ticked off at the throw you made of the
play that happened in.
Speaker 10 (56:46):
A period like that?
Speaker 1 (56:47):
I'm not.
Speaker 12 (56:48):
You know, I'm taking chances in a seven on seven period,
So I'm never going to be upset at a seven
on seven interception.
Speaker 10 (56:56):
Unless I completely miss the read or make a.
Speaker 12 (57:01):
Completely inaccurate throw and not throwing it where I'm trying
to throw it into seven and a seven setting. I'm
not too worried about that. But yeah, Josh made a
good play and I'll watch it on tape later.
Speaker 10 (57:12):
And they're talking quite a bit. Jordan Batle has been
talking quite a bit. He did Tom today as well.
Do you do you like that energy from them?
Speaker 12 (57:18):
Need that energy from them? That's that's our defenses build
off of that energy. You know, they're not great. Defense
isn't necessarily always played.
Speaker 10 (57:32):
With the mind.
Speaker 12 (57:33):
You know, a lot of times it's energy, emotion, physicality.
Speaker 10 (57:38):
You know, there's a you can have.
Speaker 12 (57:40):
The best play into the best defense that you're from
an offensive perspective trying to attack and if you have
a defensive lineman or a corner, a safety make a
great individual play, then that's not a lot you can do.
So when when they're that energy, I think that's very.
Speaker 10 (58:01):
Positive in practice.
Speaker 12 (58:05):
Depend sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. It is what
it is. It's football. It's physical game, emotional game. Guys
are going to get into it. It's all love.
Speaker 17 (58:14):
Does it tell you anything that happens on only the
second day of practice.
Speaker 10 (58:18):
I don't think so.
Speaker 12 (58:19):
I think I think there's probably not going on everywhere
in the league at all, thirty two teams.
Speaker 14 (58:23):
How big is it that the defense is playing with
the energy that they're playing with and the secondary is
making plays and then there at this time of year
doing what.
Speaker 10 (58:31):
They've done that it's exciting.
Speaker 23 (58:36):
You know.
Speaker 12 (58:36):
Obviously we'll see when Sunday's come around, but you know,
you can feel an energy in here that I'm not
I'm not sure we've felt in in a while, and
I think that's exciting.
Speaker 19 (58:48):
Who likes Are you a guy who looks forward to
get the first time you get hit in the season?
Speaker 10 (58:55):
He used too. I think I mean, like I said,
you don't really feel you don't. You don't feel that.
Speaker 12 (59:03):
That timing and that that pressure and practice like you
do in the game. So once you get it, you know,
first a couple of drives, you get the feel of
it and it gets back into rhythm. But you do
have to feel that in order to to play at
a high level, and.
Speaker 13 (59:15):
That's part of the reason why you want to play
in the preseason.
Speaker 17 (59:17):
Correct back to the energy is that you know, we
asked y'all all about the fast arts and all that stuff.
Speaker 13 (59:22):
Do you feel like y'all are doing what y'all need
now to maybe alleviate those fast arts? And because it
feel like there's.
Speaker 17 (59:28):
A lot y'all doing different ways to making an impact
on maybe the urgency or whatever it has been causing.
Speaker 10 (59:32):
Yeah, I think, I think. So we'll find out. You know,
you don't. You don't know until the results come.
Speaker 12 (59:37):
So, but like I said, I'm very positive about the
energy and morale that we have in the locker room
right now and upstairs in the V room.
Speaker 10 (59:47):
Everything's been great. I seem like I know she had
a big day to day and.
Speaker 13 (59:50):
That was wondering what you thought about is progress?
Speaker 14 (59:54):
You really spend a lot of time, I think in
the spring building up and trying to do a lot
of different things.
Speaker 13 (59:58):
What have you seen from him in this camp?
Speaker 12 (01:00:00):
Yeah, he's doing a great job. I think the biggest
step that he's made is making contested catches. You know,
like I said earlier, coming from a track background and
not playing a full played ten games, no postseason in college,
so he didn't really have a full offseason slay of
football doing his track stuff, and so you know, the
(01:00:23):
contested catches when he first came here were not his
strong suit and he's turned it into a strength of
his game, and so that's exciting to see.
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
Great play.
Speaker 10 (01:00:33):
But it was great.
Speaker 12 (01:00:33):
It was a really physical route by him making a
good play down the field.
Speaker 14 (01:00:37):
I know I'm getting into the future a little bit,
but what would your mindset or what will your mindset
be going into preseason game number one?
Speaker 13 (01:00:43):
Regardless of how many plays.
Speaker 10 (01:00:45):
Play, play it like a game, Play like a game.
You know, we'll see what.
Speaker 12 (01:00:52):
I'm sure we'll have a little different philosophy on how
we're gonna call it than a regular game. But you know,
we'll see when it gets here. But I'm going to
go out and treat you like a game. Try to
get that rhythm.
Speaker 13 (01:01:02):
We're expecting the taco cat shirt to get this distraction.
Speaker 12 (01:01:06):
Nah, but I got I got more of the more
that were whatever, whatever the same.
Speaker 10 (01:01:13):
Sorry, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
That is Joe Burrow speaking to UH members of the
media after practice today at pay Corps Stadium. I thought
it was well done Austin by Joe Burrow to give
credit to the defense and what Al Golden is doing
and the pre snap looks that they're giving and the
physicality in what they're playing with. And I thought a
little bit of an insight as well talking about seven
(01:01:37):
on seven where he said, yeah, I am willing to
maybe try to force something in there more so than
I would have known eleven on eleven or a game setting. Yeah,
I think that was a pretty good insight. Anything else
jump out from Joe Bardel.
Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
He didn't seem like too upset with the way that
they played, and he did kind of go out of
his way to praise Dylan Fairchild. I mean, I wouldn't
expect him to go on there and just throw the
guy to the bus, right, But Joe also has never
really been one to hide his feelings, so overall, I
think he understood that. You know, well, maybe there were
(01:02:11):
some frustrating parts, it was also a good day for
the defense, so maybe it wasn't as much of a
lack of offensive execution as much as it was as
much as it was defense was executing in today's practice.
And kind of go back to the point you made
earlier when I think it was Joshibas made a really
good catch and he did it under great coverage by
(01:02:34):
Josh Newtan And if you're oul Golden, You're fine with that.
Great player made a great play. Joe had a great throw, Like, okay,
you can live with that. And maybe that's how Joe
felt a little bit about the practice for the offense
in general. It's like, all right, Josh Newton made a
great play, or Dax Hill made a great player, whatever
it might have been.
Speaker 3 (01:02:52):
And I think calculated enough now from Joe Burrow to
know when that he's got to build guys up and
when he's got to wake guys up.
Speaker 5 (01:03:00):
I also thought it was interesting he said he hadn't
talked to Trey Henderson, Yeah, in weeks and a week
ago he said he's in constant contact with Trey. Yeah,
So was it about the contract specifically that he was
referring to or you know, I think he was maybe
a little careful with his wording because he might have
been answering the exact question about talking about the contract,
(01:03:21):
but seemed to be in a good spot there as well.
Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
Yeah, we will. We'll get into a little bit more
of what Trey Hendrickson had to say today when we
get back here. Our number two on cinty three sixty
your Talkbacks on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
Hey, he's on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
I'm on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
At come on that that at H Now, I believe
austin the training camp schedule. I'll be at practice tomorrow,
but then Friday there is an off day, So that's
a normal Friday and studio that's correct, which would be huge.
We can give away a Centi Church gift card to
the best talkback that we'll vote on Friday.
Speaker 5 (01:04:27):
Yeah, you're down there tomorrow by yourself, if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
Yeah, I learned that in the last few hours. That'll
be interesting. Yeah, same here. I do think we get
to do the training camp reports together tomorrow though for
a Friday, for the Friday morning report. That's at least
what I was told, so that the more we get
to work together, the better, you know. Amen?
Speaker 4 (01:04:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:04:52):
Amen, you want to do talkbacks, now, let's do them.
Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Okay, Last night, the rest someone in their game with the.
Speaker 24 (01:05:01):
Terry Francona made multiple mistakes, including letting Santiago.
Speaker 17 (01:05:06):
Ass spinall and Connor slow back when the bases loaded.
Speaker 5 (01:05:12):
I'm Lee Mowen, shout out Lee Allen, my guy.
Speaker 16 (01:05:18):
Some Elmo.
Speaker 5 (01:05:20):
It's too from the.
Speaker 16 (01:05:23):
Well because of me, not, of course, but just launched
my dad last night since Nott the legs couldn't pull
it out. Oh boy, what do we do now we are?
It's not a launching points you want so well, I've
been sweat over year. Let's whisk these blotty doggers out
of time with a big l on their back.
Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
Thoma's precious, love each other, Love each other. Thanks Jim,
I appreciate that.
Speaker 25 (01:05:48):
Does anybody else think that yesterday's talks could have been
sponsored by laughter Calister and off the meeting path?
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
I mean, what an.
Speaker 5 (01:05:54):
Interesting hot project was?
Speaker 25 (01:05:56):
She had, Kadie had seasonal food, a little bit of sports,
she had He's mixed in, just covered it all.
Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Honestly, it was pretty interesting and just a random thought.
Speaker 11 (01:06:05):
Why does the station gift weather up based when it
says here's your forecast, but yet it's another commercial and
also still waiting on an email from the gift card
Take care.
Speaker 5 (01:06:14):
Everybody, Oh yeah, it will be on that. Yeah, it's
it's been, where it's been, it's been talked about.
Speaker 23 (01:06:22):
Greg Sharonville, Greg Tony's back, Tray's back.
Speaker 5 (01:06:27):
He doesn't get much better than that. Let's go, Let's go,
shortan sweet from grim right, Greg.
Speaker 26 (01:06:32):
You're right, Tony, I'm nervous anytime of ball is hit
two Ellie. Yeah, you know every week he makes defensive
blunders and there's just a long rope for him. I've
said it over and over again. They really need to
get him out in the outfield. I know it won't
happen this year, but he's too costly to keep him
(01:06:54):
a short stop. Anybody else they would have, they would
have been benched by now.
Speaker 10 (01:06:59):
So disappointing.
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
Yeah, it just looks to me like someone that doesn't
have any confidence when the balls hit at him, unless
it's like an unbelievable play he's got to make where
he doesn't think as much. But even not play into
the hole last night where he threw it low, that's
still a throw you got to make as a short stop.
Speaker 13 (01:07:20):
David to.
Speaker 11 (01:07:22):
A couple of weeks for the old Hobstu leaping Lama
makes the Ring of Honor, Jama gets to be in
ninety nine and Madden and Sama Stewart ends.
Speaker 4 (01:07:34):
His holding to it.
Speaker 11 (01:07:35):
I might go out and buy a new car today.
Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
Man shut Hobbs, Hobbs.
Speaker 21 (01:07:42):
Good to hear from you, Good to see Tray made
it back, however, wearing streak clothes, fifth bumping cops, waving
two security guards, looking like more than a captain.
Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
Well, maybe that.
Speaker 21 (01:07:57):
Was the sea that he wanted to have on his chest.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Seed. Hey, he played a I thought a good role
in today's practice. Yeah, I will give him that.
Speaker 27 (01:08:06):
Hey, if you were watching the Reds telecast last night,
you probably heard Barry Larkin give us the kiss of
death and spoke spoke the sentence that nobody wants to hear.
He said, sometimes the best free agent or the best.
Speaker 5 (01:08:21):
Trade three to two one he just stopped. Man, he'll
try again.
Speaker 27 (01:08:29):
Hey, if you were watching the Reds game last night,
the Reds and the Dodgers, you heard Barry Larkin give
us the kiss of death, the sentence that we all
dread and we hear every year. They were talking about
Hunter Green coming back off the disabled list, and Larkin said,
sometimes the best pickups at the trade deadline are the
players that are already on your team. Let's hope the
(01:08:49):
Reds don't follow that advice again this year.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
Don't let mo hear that.
Speaker 5 (01:08:53):
Wonder where Barry could get such a thing. I wonder
where you would hear that from yeah.
Speaker 28 (01:08:57):
And here's tomorrow's training camp weather forecast. It'll be mostly
clowny with the chance of storms, Temperatures around eighty degrees.
Bengals fans, you two can be topping in in this
preseason with the Trags line. See the Mike Petreglia collection,
now exclusively at Kroger.
Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:09:15):
You know I did hear Trags the other day kind
of hint that some brands have reached out to him.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Oh, that would be fantastic. I know what a parlay that.
Speaker 29 (01:09:24):
Would You gentlemen know what Jordan Battle's middle name is.
Speaker 5 (01:09:31):
Knowing is half the That's my kind of talk back
right there, Tony.
Speaker 25 (01:09:48):
I don't understand when you say we can't ask Joe
Burrow to be Superman. Well, they asked Jalen Hurts and
Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes and La March and all
the beast supermen.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
No they don't. You know.
Speaker 25 (01:10:03):
Now they're sposed to being paid what thirty forty million
a year? Well, is he a paper tiger where we're
gonna put him in a glass box or something?
Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Yay, he's supposed to be Superman. That might have been
the worst talk back I've ever heard. None of those
other players are hit as much as Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts,
and the Eagles were the only team in all of
football last year to run the ball more than they
threw it. I'm not even going to entertain the Dak
Prescott conversation. And Patrick Mahomes has an unbelievable system built
(01:10:34):
around him that allows them to succeed in the day
in which it wasn't built around him. Austin what happened
in the Super Bowl to Patrick Mahomes. Yep, so yes,
I'm done with Hey Joe, just go out and be
that great. Go out and make three guys missed before
you make every throw. That's not what a quarterback should
be doing. So yeah, I'm going to stand on it.
(01:10:56):
Of They shouldn't have to ask him to be Superman.
Speaker 25 (01:11:01):
Oh excuse me, Joe's making fifty five million a year.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Yeah, Superman. Put your damn cape on. Oh my gosh, let.
Speaker 30 (01:11:14):
Me tell you something, brother, I'm back from the dead
to represent all the Bengalomaniacs out there. Dude, Oh, you
gotta get on the horse. Brother, lit'sten up number ninety one.
Bengal Nation ain't gonna sit around and wait for you
to chase all the glory, the fame and the money. Dude,
you got to get on that golf gurten right around
with the judge, the jury, and the executioner, because on
(01:11:36):
September seventh, at one o'clock in Cleveland, Ohio, you gotta
ask yourself, dude, are you gonna.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
Be there or b square? Thank you Holster, Yeah, thank
you God.
Speaker 31 (01:11:47):
So Trey's holdout costs him two hundred and fifty thousand.
Speaker 5 (01:11:50):
That's Tony Pike money.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
Yep, I wesh manup?
Speaker 32 (01:11:53):
Sure?
Speaker 33 (01:11:54):
Is I wish start unch, cut, toss your cookies, lose
your lunch or flash the hash?
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Wow, I'd never start lose your lunch because that's the
only one I've heard before today, Right, I kind of
like to toss the hash. I'll bet you no, that's
flash the hash, Flash the hash.
Speaker 5 (01:12:15):
I'm gonna cut that because I've never heard it. I'll
bench lose your lunch and I'll start and toss your
cookies because I've never heard it. And it made me laugh. Hey,
it's that.
Speaker 18 (01:12:23):
And I'm kind of wondering what you think of the
whole Christian Wilkinson thing and if it's just a big
nothing murger and the Bengals should go ahead and try
to sign them. I'm kind of wondering if that's not
the reason they cut loose Sack Moss is to make
room for a little more money for him and Anderson.
Speaker 5 (01:12:41):
I do not expect Christian Wilkins to be playing anytime.
So no, that's a situation where it's going to take
some time for some information to come out. Yeah, he's
in the midst of a legal battle now with the
team over that guaranteed money. There's been a lot of
rumors about him in the past. It's probably not something
anyone's gonna touch.
Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
For a while. I'll stay clear of it.
Speaker 6 (01:13:02):
Hello, this is former President Ronald Reagan, and will I
do have one major concern. My concern is with the
Bengals cornerbacks. I'm just not convinced that they can cover
wide receivers. I mean, Joe Mixon's back there, now, come on.
Speaker 23 (01:13:18):
M.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
Joe Mixon apparently was being yelled at today at practice.
Thanks guys.
Speaker 34 (01:13:26):
Uh, what little tape I've seen of Shamar Stewart looks
pretty good. He looks to be pretty quick and pretty strong.
Why did the Bengals always tap dancing around the offensive line.
Why don't they just go out and get some studs
at guard. I don't understand it, but it drives me crazy. Also,
any reports on Taj Brooks. Have you guys seen him
do anything in training camp? I'm really anxious to see
(01:13:47):
how this guy's doing. Thanks, guys, have a great day.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
I think Brooks has been very solid and the opportunities
he's been given, I think he has. Uh, He's been
a good contributor for the Cincinnati Bengals. I don't know
what his role means now that Zach Moss has been
let go by the Bengals, but yeah, I agree with
Shamar as well. I don't know the mental side of
where things arright. But he looks fast, he looks physical.
He moves extremely well when he's on the field.
Speaker 5 (01:14:14):
Tone, Addie, it's Maso.
Speaker 3 (01:14:15):
Tone.
Speaker 7 (01:14:16):
I hope you're holding up well in the heat down there.
I know it's been a busy day, but I still
got duties to do. So here we go. Oh do
for today? More illustrious career Dwayne the Rock Johnson or
Dwayne Wade and a bonus d would be a better player,
Dave Parker or Dave Conception.
Speaker 3 (01:14:39):
Man, I'm gonna go the Cobra. Dave Parker and I
would say illustrious career. I would say Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
I agree with both rock.
Speaker 3 (01:14:49):
The Rock's all over the place. Waites had a great career,
unbelievable career, as did Davy. Concept you, but he ain't
the Cobra and he ain't the Rock.
Speaker 35 (01:14:58):
Speak on it for four four four four four four
four four four four or four four four or four.
Speaker 4 (01:15:08):
Games over five hundred, all right? I like that.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Well done? Was well done. That's well done. I had
no idea where it was going. Ryan, I'm that Veterans Park,
my daily walk, Oh Veterans Parker, Veterans Memorial Park. Gat
of reports about the Bengals today, immoderately concerned with the Reds.
Speaker 28 (01:15:32):
Gavin lux has no no right even playing out in
left field.
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
He looked lost. They have to go get another bat.
Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
There's no choice about the bullpen looks a little taxs.
You definitely need another arm for the Nope, you only
get thirty seconds. You know, what is it that your
buddy Johnny Moon always says, in left field without a glove,
that's pretty much Gavin lucks.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
In left field without a glove.
Speaker 24 (01:16:04):
Hey, guys, I don't know. I'm just correct now. If
I'm wrong, you know you can tell me. I've been
married a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
I'm used to it. Okay, Trey asked more mind.
Speaker 24 (01:16:13):
Bengals said that you were going to get more money
this year, and by all of reports that's occurred, you
got more money. But but now Trey wants more money guarantee.
Speaker 32 (01:16:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 24 (01:16:24):
He's getting to be more and more like a used
car salesman.
Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
You go in, the price is this.
Speaker 24 (01:16:27):
Much, and then oh, well, you like the cars, so
now it's gonna cost you this much. I mean, come on, Trey, it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Is how it is, the way in which the NFL
is going, That's all it is.
Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
Guarantees are what these contracts are built around.
Speaker 32 (01:16:43):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:16:43):
I think a question I would like to know the
answer to is are fully guaranteed contracts good for leagues?
M like, for the betterment of the league moving forward?
Is it good?
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:17:03):
For my body?
Speaker 13 (01:17:04):
Tony Top Virginia.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
So I'll see of those pictures of Brandon Sourcee from.
Speaker 13 (01:17:10):
The off season.
Speaker 36 (01:17:11):
My man is shocked.
Speaker 7 (01:17:13):
He is.
Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
Eighty touchdown passes this year, cast by ninety Big twelve champs.
Speaker 5 (01:17:21):
He said, eighty touchdown passes.
Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
Somewhere around that. Look. One couple of things with the
Bearcats real quick. One, I don't understand they're only going
to higher ground for a week.
Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
Does that addble?
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Yes, they're usually out there two or three weeks now.
I don't know if you know it's because they now
have an indoor practice facility and they're gonna utilize that
or what. But I don't know. I don't know why
you wouldn't stay out there longer, especially when you've got
to try to build a culture with so many new
pieces being added to the team, and two in years
past Austin we have, or at least I have, I've
(01:17:57):
had request, I've had Petrie people reach out to me, Hey,
what are you gonna talk about the Bearcats? When are
you gonna break things down at camp? I really haven't
got that this year. I don't know if it's just
because it's still out of sight, out of mind. I
don't know if it's based on the year they had
last year. But I don't sense as much of that
excitement right now around a team that I think is
(01:18:19):
about four weeks away now from opening up the season
at at Arrowhead Stadium.
Speaker 5 (01:18:25):
Yeah, I would imagine that the whole higher Ground thing is, Hey,
we just spent a ton of money on this facility.
We should probably use it. But imagine that conversation happened,
and so the coaches are like, all right, well we'll
do a week at higher ground. But like, I don't know,
that's difficult. It's a difficult balance because you do get
something out of going away and right, So I guess
(01:18:49):
that's a difficult balance. And college rules are weird, right about, Yeah,
the practices and all that.
Speaker 35 (01:18:56):
Still flexing the reping in Natty, listening to talkbacks and
somebody talking about my quarterback Joe Burrow.
Speaker 5 (01:19:03):
Yo, you don't have to be superman.
Speaker 35 (01:19:05):
He's got to be Joe Burrow lead us to the
Promised Land. No slander on on this era about our
quarterback rids disappointing loss, feel like he lost two games
last night of void to sweep.
Speaker 3 (01:19:16):
All right, just avoid to sweet. I want to at
least hang that banner up.
Speaker 35 (01:19:19):
And how is Schamar Stewart looking so far with Trey
Henderson good?
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
I think he's looked good up to this point. And yes,
I think that was Jim's worst talkback in the history
of his talkbacks.
Speaker 9 (01:19:32):
Hey guys, Jeff and Andy just responded to a couple
of talkbacks. I had to so our problems today on
talkbacks are Ellie Da La Cruz and Joe Burrow the
only two reasons the Cincinnati Sports is relevant at this time.
Like everybody just pumped the brakes. It's like they're the
faces of the franchise. Let's just calm down, everybody. Everything's
gonna be okay, Trey, get out on the field, sign
(01:19:52):
the contract, let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
I'm not arguing that they're the face of the franchise,
but if Joe Burrow were out here throwing interceptions every day,
we would question, and why is Joe Burrow throwing interceptions
every day? And if Eli Da La Cruz is making
as many airs as he's making despite his greatness, And
I agree he's great. He's the face of the franchise.
But when you're the face of the franchise, you're held
to a higher standard as well.
Speaker 36 (01:20:14):
Another term for vomiting, blowing.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
Groceres, blowing groceries. I don't know what about just puking.
Speaker 5 (01:20:22):
Yeah, that was our last one. I think he left
that from inside of an air conditioning unit.
Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
He might have been puking.
Speaker 5 (01:20:30):
Yeah, all right, he made me want to puke.
Speaker 3 (01:20:34):
I think Maso's got to be better too.
Speaker 5 (01:20:38):
Over the course of twenty six letters in the alphabet,
there's gonna be some that are difficult, so I'm gonna
give me.
Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
But I think he knew that Dwayne Wade and Dwayne
the Rock Johnson wasn't going to be much of a contest,
so he tried to throw in the Dave conception of
Dave Parker. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:20:55):
He gave us two for one.
Speaker 3 (01:20:57):
Yeah, and he was so busy he couldn't call that
in today. I don't buy it either. We'll wrap up
our two when we return.
Speaker 5 (01:21:03):
You're a bad guy man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
Hey, we're gonna go open up the race and Claire
Roofing hotline. We'll open up the lines here and our

the time, all at Oakley Greens and right here at
the Airport Peyton Body broadcast area. We'll be back to
finish up our two next on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station. Welcome back since e three sixty ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. We got time here for a
(01:21:50):
Postman Law injury report. If you're injured, Postman delivers call
eight four to four. Postman. Uh not an injury. But TJ.
Frieda was absent from the lineup last night right do
to being on the paternity list. Headed back home for
the birth of a child, and Hunter Green made a start.
(01:22:10):
It wasn't a great start by all accounts. Austin, are
you concerned about Hunter Green?
Speaker 5 (01:22:14):
I don't know if I'm concerned about him. I mean,
he's had to fly to Omaha from Arizona to pitch
against Triple A guys, and I don't know his playing
of attack. He threw fifty pitches like he was supposed to,
gave up a couple of homers four runs. Wasn't great,
didn't go deep into the game, so you didn't love
it from Hunter Green. But he's gonna pitch again on Sunday,
which is good.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
Okay, carrying up hopefully, Hunter Green for his return to
the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 5 (01:22:41):
Are the Reds out of It? By Sunday Cool. Now,
the good news is, and this isn't good good news,
but they aren't gonna have to face Ronald Acuney Junior,
who is basically the only offensive threat in the Braves lineup.
He's now out.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Yeah, yeah, you're going. Are you excited about the opportunity
to see Chase.
Speaker 5 (01:22:59):
Bern Yeah, I've seen Chase pitch before. I was there
for his debut. I'm actually really bummed about Acunya. I've
been to like four Reds Braves games over the last
couple of years, both here and in Atlanta, and he
hasn't played in any of them.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
It was achilles, isn't it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:13):
It was achilles soreness, and so far the tests are
coming back good, so he could come back maybe in
a month or so, so it doesn't look like he
tore it, but he was.
Speaker 3 (01:23:23):
Just when you're not discomforted, yeah, as a team this
year and anything.
Speaker 5 (01:23:28):
His injury history as well.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Yeah, yeah, let's break. Let's come back one more time
after this and hour number two, we'll get our poll
question and update some results from today. Thanks for Revivfitnessystems
dot com. It's sinty three to sixty thanks to Ciny
Shirts on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Okay, welcome back since e three sixty thanks to since
we're a Bengals training camp. A large part due to
our friends at AE Door and Window. They sell the
best and service the rest. We appreciate them and everyone
else that's made this show possible. We'll get to our
three in just a moment. Before we do so, Austin,
(01:24:19):
we need to check in today on our Revivefitnessystems dot
com poll question.
Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
That's right, Tony. Our Revivefiticisms dot com poll question brought
to you by Revive Fitnessystems dot com and coach PJ.
Speaker 4 (01:24:30):
Street.
Speaker 5 (01:24:30):
You can vote at Audio Moore at ESPN fifteen thirty
at Tony Underscore Pike fifteen. What do you think of
Trey Hendrickson's decision to hold in instead of hold out?
Your options are love it, hate it, don't care, or
fearful of a distraction Forty five percent say don't care,
(01:24:52):
oh okay, forty percent say love it, eleven percent say
they're fearful of a distraction, and three per sense say
hate it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:25:03):
I've also just posed another question on my Twitter page.
Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
What do we got?
Speaker 5 (01:25:07):
Should the Reds trade for Tommy Fam?
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
Oh gosh, I think no, as I told you, because
it's too close to football season. That means fantasy football
drafts are happening, and you don't want anything to mess
up the culture in this longer run.
Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Thirty seven year old Tommy Fam this year with the
Pittsburgh Pirates and two hundred and forty five at bats,
has four homers, twenty nine RBI, three stolen bases. He's
hitting two seventy three with a three forty two on
base percentage and an ops of seven to seventy two
over his last seven games in twenty six at bats,
he's hitting an even five hundred over his last fifteen games.
(01:25:44):
Over his last fifty two at bats, he's hitting four
to oh four happy Over his last thirty games ninety
seven at bats, he's hitting three eighty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
Happy for him. I'm just good on him. Do you
want them?
Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:26:02):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
I'm like, I'm not opposed to it that those are
good numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:26:08):
The question I would always ask is, like, is that
it is that the only move?
Speaker 5 (01:26:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:26:13):
Is it better than Connor Joe abouting in the ninth inning?
Speaker 5 (01:26:15):
Well? How about this? Just minutes ago from John Hayman,
the MLB Insider says that the Padres and Reds, along
with the Dodgers, are in on Stephen Kwan.
Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
Hit the Kwan.
Speaker 5 (01:26:33):
Stephen hit the Kwan hit the Kwan, Padres, Reds, Dodgers
and others.
Speaker 3 (01:26:41):
Apparently the problem is is if those three teams are in,
I would expect the Reds to be least willing to
give up the most.
Speaker 5 (01:26:48):
Those three teams are not afraid to move on from prospects.
The Reds are, because the Reds have to tell you
that they have prospects coming up.
Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Yep, Yeah, I don't see the Reds winning that Dodgers, Padres, Reds.
Speaker 5 (01:27:05):
It says. He also says and otters, which I think
he means others unless there's a like a minor league
like a KBO team or maybe one of the Japanese teams.
Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
It's interested, right, it is pen some money. Yeah, good
for them. Our three is next for the first time
since we started down here at ten am. We'll take
your phone calls on the Ray Saint Clair Roofing Hotline.

Welcome back our number three since E three p. Sixty
thanks to Penn Station. Here at a Bengals training camp. Yes,
still here, been here since about nine thirty this morning.
UH camp coverage rolls on in big thanks to our
(01:28:17):
friends at AE Door and Window, where they sell the
best and service the rest. Special thanks to Adam Weber
for sponsoring the broadcast here a Bengals training camp and
always continued support of the Bengals all these many years.
I am a little out of breath, Austin.
Speaker 5 (01:28:31):
Why is that? Tom Well?
Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
I had to essentially run back to where I'm stationed here,
because I had to run to the restroom over the
break sure now to paint this picture, I'm trying to
drink as much water as humanly possible down here.
Speaker 5 (01:28:45):
Of course it's hot.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
They don't have a bathroom at the practice facility that
I can use, so you've got to go out the gate.
You've got to go to the portoletts and use them
and then come back. The problem is, as soon as
practic this sends, they put like a a like a
wire lock around all the portal its. And in days
(01:29:08):
past the lock is loose enough that you just pulled
the door and you can kind of get in there
pretty easy. Today that thing barely budged. I had to
get skinny, skinny, skinny, skinny to even get into the
portal that to use the restaurant. Yeah, barely made it
out and then ran back up here. Outside of that,
the accommodations here for Bengals training camp has been unbelievable.
(01:29:32):
Shout out to the Bengals and everything that they do
and have done for us to make this possible throughout
a training camp. I believe though, this will be our
fifth show, which means after today we crossed the halfway point. Wow,
our training camp.
Speaker 5 (01:29:45):
Shows it's going fast.
Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
Yeah. Ten total and as I've learned, number six tomorrow
be solo. So there's that. Wish I had known that
and maybe talked to some people about that. But we've
talked all afternoon about Trey Hendrickson about Bengals practice, and
we'll dive into that as we get into our number three.
(01:30:07):
MOI girl join us for quick hits, we'll talk about
what Trey had to say. You'll hear about two minutes
of audio from Trey Hendrickson, but we have not once
Austin went to the race Saint Claire Roofing Hotline. Now,
based on our setup and me getting back a little
bit late to break, I don't have access to our
(01:30:27):
phone lines, so it's up to you to really be
the eyes in the ear and the voice sure of
everything as it relates to the race and Claire Roofing Highline. Yeah,
do we have calls waiting? And who do you want
to go to first?
Speaker 5 (01:30:42):
We currently have three callers on hold, and I want
to go to John in Boston, who has been holding
for thirty five minutes patiently waiting to get onto the
show and John joins us now, Hi John.
Speaker 31 (01:30:56):
Good afternoon, Austin's good afternoon. Soon He's doing a great
job as usual. Just to sign out to listen to
you guys. Good Hey, Hello. I have to listen to
you guys on Alexa anyway, So if it's on the
phone or through Alexa, that's fine. It's it's just all
the same, so no worries there. My first question after
listening to talkbacks is what exact time is happy Islan Cincinnati.
(01:31:16):
It's twelve to one because some of the calls, I mean,
we're blaming Joe Burrow for a nine and eighth season
and that he has to be Superman when he's already
proven he's not only Superman, he's Batman, right with the batmobile.
Speaker 3 (01:31:27):
So some people, yeah, some people early up.
Speaker 31 (01:31:34):
To eyes Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (01:31:35):
It's nice.
Speaker 36 (01:31:35):
Absolutely.
Speaker 31 (01:31:37):
The thing I really want to talk about the offensive line,
So you look at Scott Peters, who was assistant offensive
line coach in Cleveland in twenty twenty three, is it's
a cycle of Bill Callahan. So that seems pretty good pedigree.
He ends up getting fired by the Browns after twenty
twenty three, the Patriots scoop him up as their offensive
line coach. Last year, the Patriots loved bringing in assistant
(01:31:58):
coaches that some other team is paying. That's the way
they operate. And they have the thirty first ranked offensive
line last year. The only offensive line was in the
Patriots last year the Bengals offensive line. So now the
Bengals bring him in, and I'm sure it is worth
a few laps in the front office that, hey, our
offensive line coach is partially being paid by the Cleveland Browns.
So you have Scott ters in. There is the offensive
(01:32:20):
line coach, right, and the odd thing is they have
two competent tackles. They just can't figure out the interior
of the offensive line. And look, I saw Taed Harris
for six years here. I love him. I mean, there's
a guy who's going to be an executive rofront office
or working media. He's fantastic, But in his athletic crime,
he was just a guy on the Patriots offensive line.
Now late in his career, you're asking him to be
(01:32:41):
the third best offensive lineman. So, I mean, all of
that just doesn't make any sense of protecting the franchise quarterback,
which kind of leads me to the next thought, where
I wonder if Mike Brown and Duke Coben had bought
it to watch Quarterback on Netflix, where it seems to
me that happened Joe Burrow's touchdown path and ended with
him laying on the ground getting lit up while he's
moving in the pocket, Like that would tell us all
(01:33:04):
got to help that offensive line to protect something that
you don't really get the NFL. There's like four franchise
elite quarterbacks walking around on Earth, and you're lucky.
Speaker 5 (01:33:15):
To have one of them, especially at the very end
of Netflix or of Quarterback where he Jo says he
thought he broke his neck, like could you imagine and
you've already seen the guy go down. Two seasons ended,
two seasons early. I mean, I truthfully don't know how
they sleep at night with their offensive line. It makes
no sense to me.
Speaker 3 (01:33:34):
There was a point Joe's pressure today where he essentially said,
you know, I'm used to seeing pressure from other teams
m hm when talking about the defense, and he's trying
to do it to praise what the defense is doing,
but in reality, I think he's also saying, like, yeah,
I've seen just about every pressure because I'm under pressure constantly.
Speaker 31 (01:33:51):
Yeah, when you look at all of that. The two
injuries came because of four imperial line play. Right, he
gets his knee blown up as a rookie in fourth
year because of a lot of chaos in the pocket.
He ends up tearing ligaments in his wrist. Look the quarterback,
I've always compared him to and maybe type of ballic,
but I don't think it is. He's the closest thing
we've seen to Tom Brady in terms of skill set, leadership,
(01:34:13):
all of that stuff. He's just like Tom Brady. But
Tom Brady always had a very good to a great
offensive line, a very good to a great defense. Jos
had neither of those things. And I'll just kind of
finish it off with comparing it to fashion, because we
know goes the fashionista. So you have the beautifully tailored
Italian silk suit and Joe Burrow, you have Jamar Chase
(01:34:34):
and t Higgins did a beautifully tailored silk shirt. You're
on your way to being ready to walk to met
miles right.
Speaker 36 (01:34:40):
Met Gallup.
Speaker 31 (01:34:41):
Well, to add to that, the Bengals have decided to
put him in crocs and then get like a reversible
rope belt. And now that beautiful to that beautiful shirt
don't look quite as good. It's almost laughable. We're just
laying them. I mean, Tony, you played at a high level, obviously,
but we just kind of watching this so far wondering
(01:35:02):
why don't they see it. I mean, maybe they don't
want to pay for Netflix.
Speaker 32 (01:35:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:35:06):
I don't know. We appreciate your phone call and thank
you for listening. I just I'm with you, Austin. It
behooves me to think that they've watched this.
Speaker 5 (01:35:20):
Uh oh uh oh, we may have lost Tony again.
I'm gonna, I'm gonna We'll try to wait, but uh,
we do not currently hear Tony. This happened sometimes as
part of those live broadcasts down at the stadium. But
I think we have Tony back now, Tony, can you
hear me?
Speaker 3 (01:35:39):
Can you hear me? Yes, we got it. I was talking.
Speaker 5 (01:35:42):
Yeah, you were in the middle, middle of making a
point about the offensive line.
Speaker 7 (01:35:45):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:35:45):
I just I think it behooves me to think about
how they've watched the games that we've all watched over
the last couple of years, and you haven't invested more
into the offensive line.
Speaker 5 (01:35:56):
Yeah, and they have invested, they haven't gotten enough production
out of it. I mean, obviously, the first year with
Alex Kappa was really good. Volsen was okay, but they
both took significant steps backward. I don't know how you
don't supplement that moving forward. To me, it is the
most important position on a football team outside of quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
Who else do we have on the race? Saint Claire
roofing hawk.
Speaker 5 (01:36:22):
We got Maso from the Ville here, what's up, Mace?
Speaker 23 (01:36:26):
Well, I'm not.
Speaker 37 (01:36:26):
Gonna sit by and take this slant.
Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
Crazy day from Maso.
Speaker 5 (01:36:30):
Do you have a job, mas.
Speaker 23 (01:36:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:36:34):
Oh list he's the president of Talkbacks.
Speaker 32 (01:36:38):
Yeah, gosh, darn it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:39):
He actually takes it.
Speaker 32 (01:36:41):
This is taxing work man.
Speaker 5 (01:36:43):
Yeah, legislation.
Speaker 32 (01:36:45):
Yeah. But honestly, Dwayne Wade is closer to Dwayne Johnson
than you think he's got. He's three time NBA champion
times well.
Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
In shock backs. Yeah yeah, I know.
Speaker 37 (01:37:03):
I'll give you that because I'm still bitter about that
one against Dirk that's bull crap. But I did see
he actually in this What made me pick those two.
I saw him.
Speaker 23 (01:37:14):
Hosting or co hosting The Today Show when I was
on vacation, so I was like, Okay, maybe he's starting
to dabble into that and he I believe he was calling.
Speaker 32 (01:37:25):
The Olympic game.
Speaker 5 (01:37:26):
He did what was that last year?
Speaker 32 (01:37:28):
Yeah, so if he starts getting into broadcasting. Now we
got a little race here, and you know he's married
to Debrielle Union.
Speaker 5 (01:37:35):
Not that a year from now that it could be
a different conversation because Dwayne Wade is going to be
a big part of the NBA on NBC.
Speaker 3 (01:37:43):
Dwayne Wade's current nept worth has projected one hundred and
seventy million. Dwayne the Rock, Johnson's is eight hundred and
forty one million. That's illustrious box office total. There is
a little bit different that is illustrious.
Speaker 5 (01:37:54):
I hear you, I hear you, and I agree I
do with the Rock.
Speaker 37 (01:38:01):
You guys got me, but especially because my wana is
a lock at the householder.
Speaker 31 (01:38:05):
Yeah, you get it, you get it anyway.
Speaker 37 (01:38:09):
Anyway, I just had to cold in and give my
two cents.
Speaker 3 (01:38:12):
All right, all right, bring the heat tomorrow, Masa.
Speaker 5 (01:38:15):
What was that? What was that rock movie where he
was a quarterback? What was that called it? It was
like a Disney movie or something.
Speaker 3 (01:38:22):
Wasn't a tooth fairy? No, it was where he was actually, No,
that was where he was actually the tooth Fairy?
Speaker 7 (01:38:28):
Was it?
Speaker 5 (01:38:28):
The game plan?
Speaker 3 (01:38:29):
Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
Uh my game plan now is to switch gears and
talk to Mike in La.
Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
What's up Mike?
Speaker 36 (01:38:38):
Hey, guysking around? Uh, well we won't, so I do
the Bengals Versta.
Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
Or first your pick, Mike, your world.
Speaker 23 (01:38:47):
I love it.
Speaker 36 (01:38:49):
Everybody, just don't forget. Just does not conflict with your listenership.
Tomorrow morning, nine o'clock, Dan Patricks, you's going to interview
Justin Herbert, who But I don't know a lot of
people here don't care. But I'm never heard of in
an interview, so I'm looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (01:39:05):
It is weird nationally you don't hear Herbert much.
Speaker 36 (01:39:09):
And so okay, the offensive line, we know he's going from.
Well what happened is this? Harold is big monster right tackle? Well,
what's up with him?
Speaker 23 (01:39:21):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
I think there is still I think Marius mem is
gonna be a really good player, but there is a
realization he didn't have a ton of reps in college.
He was solid last year, but he's still so young,
and other teams are gonna make adjustments and defense are
gonna find new ways to attack him. I think he's
still honing his skills. I think he's got a chance
(01:39:42):
to easily be the best offensive lineman on this group.
But I think there's good that there's gonna be still
a little bit of a learning curve, especially when you
think about the defenses are gonna go against and and
teams having a full offseason to really find the strengths
and weaknesses and how to attack him.
Speaker 5 (01:39:57):
And he's also being taught by a new offensive line
coach with the new system that he's trying to be
taught now today, specifically, he did not participate in the
last three team portions of practice.
Speaker 3 (01:40:08):
Yeah, that didn't help me.
Speaker 5 (01:40:09):
We're a little bit unclear still on what that is,
and maybe we'll get some information from Zach at some
point later this week, but we don't really know, but
it is notable. Last year Amarius Mims played more snaps
in the NFL than he ever played in college. So
he's still a very low prospect.
Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
You also, there are times there are times in camp
as well where you pull somebody just to have to
go through a situation where sure something may happen in
a game. Yeah. Yeah, Cochran played in there a little bit,
so I do think that it could be something like that. Obviously,
it's something you watch tomorrow to make sure it doesn't linger,
and then you'd have to ask the question. But I
think they're just trying to get a lot of guys
(01:40:50):
in there for reps.
Speaker 36 (01:40:52):
Okay, Okay, that's scary about the college reps and the
pro reps. Okay, but hear I'm going to go back
to Herbert. Now, So what because Herbert to the to
the Chargers organization is like Burrow is to our organizations.
And what did they do? They go out and they
(01:41:12):
have maybe the best offensive line in the AFC with
later maybe the as good as it gets on the
left side to protect uh, to protect Herbert. Then they
go ahead and they and and that they got they
got the great running game now with with Harris and
the rookie Hopkins who are real high on this all
(01:41:34):
helps Justin Herbert. Then they go ahead and have maintained
a really good defense which also protects Justin Herbert. You
see what I'm trying to say here.
Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
They've they've built around him the right way, which I
think puts even more pressure on him that he has
to to take that leap this year because he does have,
uh the pieces around him that a lot of quarterbacks
would envy. He has to take that next step. I
think this year as well, with year two under Harball.
Speaker 36 (01:42:01):
Tony, if you have a solid running game and make
sure a better quarterback no question, right.
Speaker 3 (01:42:06):
Yeah, a lot of people are high on a Mario
and Hampton from from North Carolina. They get Najie Harris,
they they're gonna get year two of Ladd McConkie. So
I think there's a lot of stuff that you'd look
forward to. It's just Herbert has to take that next
step as well.
Speaker 36 (01:42:20):
Got you Okay, Reds? Okay, Home Dog tonight, folks, you
gotta double down again.
Speaker 3 (01:42:25):
This would be a triple down, right, that would be a.
Speaker 36 (01:42:28):
Triple down unless you're a little sissy asked and you
don't want to do it, So then you shouldn't even
be playing the home dogs.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
Yeah, but you have to.
Speaker 36 (01:42:35):
You have to do it because I'm telling telling everybody
over the long haul, it has never ever ever failed. Okay,
what happened? Why did the Reds? Why did the Dodgers
maybe win last night? Death? Tommy Edmonds comes in and
then they got teak. Those two guys can play all
eight positions or seven positions outside of catcher.
Speaker 32 (01:42:59):
That is value.
Speaker 36 (01:43:00):
They don't pay a ton of money for either one
of them.
Speaker 6 (01:43:02):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Well, what I think is what I think is even
more incredible about the Dodgers, the depth, the way they've
battled injuries. But you look at the Dodgers and you think,
Okay Otani, Betts, Freeman, Ti Oscar Hernandez, you can go
up down the list, Max Muntzi, and then you look
and it's Will Smith who's leading the team from a
batting average standpoint and hit the big hit last night
(01:43:24):
as well for the Dodgers. So it is it's the
depth in which they've created that they have the star power,
but they also have the pieces to back it up.
Speaker 36 (01:43:32):
You got it. Will Smith gets the big hit last night.
He's like you said, he's leading the National League in hitting.
He doesn't get to know the riot. He hits a
big thump that the big dumper gets over in the
American League. But he and he's a homegong guy too. See,
everybody thinks all the Dodgers players, they all paid for
him big money, giant money. It's not true.
Speaker 32 (01:43:52):
It's true.
Speaker 36 (01:43:53):
With a few guys, that's it.
Speaker 3 (01:43:55):
Yeah, agreed.
Speaker 36 (01:43:56):
I don't know about tonight. I just wish the Reds
could have done it. Have but to get one out
of three tonight Martinez.
Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
A lot of pressure on Martinez tonight against this Dodger offense.
Speaker 36 (01:44:08):
One other thing, real quick, Tony, the Dodgers. I wasn't
aware of this, but I found out yesterday. They they're
hitting two fifty eight as a team against West Hampers,
which gives which even gives Lodola more press.
Speaker 4 (01:44:21):
Awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:44:23):
Yeah, striking out, striking out Otani four times and you
get done to show for it is incredible.
Speaker 36 (01:44:29):
It is Thank you guys for let me have the time.
Speaker 3 (01:44:31):
Thank you, Mike, appreciate it. All Right, we need to
get to a break Austin. There's about two minutes and
fifteen seconds. I think Joe Danman posted it of Trey
hendrickson audio from a post practice today. Let's get to
that when we get back and spend a little more
time talking about Trey Henderson back at at least the
Bengals facility here for a hold in next on the
(01:44:54):
SBN fifteen to thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Thanks to Penn Station,
you better welcome back. It's since he three to sixty.
Thanks to Penn Station. Thanks for listening on ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Big thanks to everyone that helps
make this show possible. Here from Bengals training Camp, a
(01:45:15):
Dorn Window. They sell the best and service the rest.
Cincinnati Tax Resolution powered by TOE five one three five
one threeph Oakley Greens. All the sports, all the time,
all at Oakley Greens, and we're right here at the
airport Peyton Body Broadcast Area and Austin. I think we
got a chance one more time to go to the
race and Claire Roofing hotline before we get into more.
Trey Hendrickson, who do we got waiting with us?
Speaker 5 (01:45:37):
This is Ned? Ned is calling in. What's up?
Speaker 4 (01:45:40):
Ned?
Speaker 36 (01:45:42):
Yeah? Hey, how's going?
Speaker 4 (01:45:44):
First?
Speaker 29 (01:45:44):
I think Marius Nim's very well, could have a Pro
Bowl year, maybe even All Pro year. I'm very hot
on him, hope. So with that being said, I guess
I want to know why I should be excited about
this defense, because you're gonna tell me that Al Golden,
T J. Slayton, and born Bergs are suddenly going to
(01:46:05):
turn this defense around. And essentially what we're hoping for
is we're hoping for a lot of players on this
defense to be different than than than who they've been
the past few years. You're hoping that Cam Tayllen brit
is going to be twenty twenty three, camp Tail and
Brid You're open to DJ and Turner and Dax Hill
are gonna be something they haven't been. Miles Murphy is
something they haven't been.
Speaker 32 (01:46:26):
And I guess I.
Speaker 29 (01:46:27):
Just if Dax Hill, DJ Turner, Cam Taylor, Brent, Miles Murphy,
Jordan Battle don't take a major step forward, We're going
to have a really difficult conversation in the offseason about
how we how we feel and it's fixed these holes
in the defense. So I guess I'm just hoping that
you guys are a bit more optimistic than I am
(01:46:48):
because I'm not sure what to.
Speaker 3 (01:46:51):
See on the defense. Yeah, Net, thank you for the call.
Talking about that here for a second. You know, the
the word Austin that Ned used a lot, that we've
used in the offseason as it pertains to a lot
of these players as what hope, hope that they become,
this hope that they become, that hope that they show
better than what they have in the past, hope that
Al Golden can get more out of them. You know,
I was reminded today when we talked about how the
(01:47:13):
defense roughed up the offense a little bit. That was
the theme of a lot of training camp last year, right, Yeah,
it's been a theme before, and the defense went out
last year and was terrible. So you can't put too
much stock into what you're seeing at training camp. I
understand that, but you're also trying to find some positives
to cling to with a new defensive coordinator. This defense
looks faster, they look like they're playing with a high
(01:47:36):
level of confidence. Now what happens when you get punched
in the mouth a couple times? I think it's going
to be interesting. But you know, they they've taken for
what you can tell from training camp and not tackling
or anything like that. I think they've had a good
start to camp. Yeah, I agree, And that means what
that means for the season, I don't know. Just reporting
on what we see.
Speaker 5 (01:47:55):
Yeah, and I also think it. You know, there are
some guys, most notably Josh Josh Suten could take a
year two leap That would be a huge, huge lift
for this team. Dax Hill coming back those two in
and of itself will make you a better defense. Joe
Burrow today sung the praises of TJ. Slayton, which I've
been all over that from the moment they signed him,
(01:48:16):
laying that is a good signing for this team and
will have a positive impact. And you know, I thought
it was interesting. Albert Reer wrote the other day that
there are some people that believe that Demetrius Knight Junior
could be one of the best linebackers. This team is
drafted in quite some time, and I understand that there's
a lot of ifs there, but that's a good thing
(01:48:39):
to have some young talent that is growing, that is
showing that they are improving, and for them to be
able to sharpen their skills each and every day against
Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase and T Higgins and others.
I think that's I think that's a really positive spin
on the defense. It still needs to be proven on
the field, but I think on paper they're a lot
better than they were at this time of a year ago.
Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
Yeah, I completely agree, there is reason for hope, but again,
it's hard to base everything you're doing on hope. Trey
Hendrickson can be a big part of that. He's led
the NFL, led the NFL in sacks last year as
the most sacks combined in the last two years, and
today ended his holdout. It's now a hold in. He
(01:49:24):
showed up. He wore a Bengal shirt to practice, which
was better than the last time he showed.
Speaker 5 (01:49:29):
Up, and hat and a hack and pants.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
And pants, and for the most part, very very locked
in for much of the day talking to coaches, spending
a lot of time with Shamar Stewart and other members
of the defensive line. But we're still waiting for a
little clarification on what him showing up actually meant. I
believe We've got a little over two minutes from Joe
Daniman of Trey Hendrickson talking at his locker after practice.
Speaker 15 (01:49:53):
Well, prior to leaving to Florida, I was here thirty
days in Cincinnati, so the goal was always a bee
in Cincinnati. Some things transpired, it became public that I
left to go to Florida, But it was never something
that I wasn't gonna be here to help the twenty
twenty five Bangles. Why I just had to come to
get practice to like I said it was, it was
(01:50:16):
the plan was the year day one. Like I said,
things transpired, nothing's really changed. So being here just acclimating
with the guys that was a priority for my weapon.
Speaker 19 (01:50:29):
How would you describe your current process with the front
office that if things progressed, are you optimistic?
Speaker 15 (01:50:35):
I think I answered that like two questions ago, like a,
you know, things are exactly the same. What I'm not
gonna do is as best as i can, like avoid
being a distraction. You know, I want to help the guys,
you know, the guys that have helped me along the
way Tomorrow, Davis, Cam Jordan, even Sam Hubbard helped me
a lot when I was here. So to be that
right now, I think is that's what's most important. And
(01:50:57):
this this narrative will kind of iron itself out as
we continue to progress towards the season.
Speaker 10 (01:51:03):
And so you're working with Shamoor Stewart quite a bit.
How valuable do you think that is for him right
now to work with him?
Speaker 15 (01:51:08):
Well, I mean cam Jordan was so valuable to me
when I was, you know, maturing in the NFL, and
I feel like he's in that state. So if I
can help him in any way, that's my goal for
being here. And like I said, you know, the plan
was be here day one. Things transpired, Uh you know,
news happened to me and and you know, we just
kind of make decisions as we go. There's no blueprint
(01:51:31):
on what to do, how to do it. We're just
going to stand true to what being Hendrickson's means to
us and moving forward from that, I think not only
I've mentioned it multiple times this offseason, but also I
believe ownership has as well, that there there are plans
(01:51:54):
on not having to play under the current deal. So
I think that's something we have a common goal to
get to. I think that's that's the plan moving forward
is like, you know, no distractions. I'm excited to be here.
I think it's great seeing the brotherhood that they created here.
Speaker 3 (01:52:12):
All Right, So some things I think go against themselves.
One that I guess that's not the Hendrickson's way of
doing things. How do you go about that? Nothing's changed.
The plan was always to be here day one, and
then you weren't here day one.
Speaker 5 (01:52:26):
He also said it became public that I left for Florida.
You made it pub you put it on your Instagram story.
Speaker 3 (01:52:33):
Dude, you made that public. You knew what you were doing.
He gave no real reason as to why he decided
to come back today other than that was always the plan,
which I don't believe.
Speaker 5 (01:52:41):
I don't believe that at all.
Speaker 3 (01:52:44):
Now, again, the part of him being here and being
a teammate and helping Shamar Stewart, he did that today. Yeah,
I just think there's a lot of things that contradict
themselves when you listen to that.
Speaker 5 (01:52:55):
I don't know if he Yeah, not much of that
made sense to me.
Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
No, Like I I wish I could make a Billy
Madison reference, but you've never seen the movie. But I
I feel like I walked away from listening to that
two minutes a little more in the dark of where
I'm at with the Trey Hendrickson situation. What I would
like to.
Speaker 5 (01:53:22):
Did anyone ask him what changed?
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Right?
Speaker 11 (01:53:26):
Like?
Speaker 5 (01:53:27):
What stuff happened right that made you?
Speaker 3 (01:53:30):
I'm like, I'm just baffled at the fact that he
talks about it went public that he left because he
made it public.
Speaker 5 (01:53:38):
Correct, what it like?
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Well, nothing changed. The plan was always to be here. No,
you said the plan wasn't to be here because you left.
Speaker 5 (01:53:44):
The plan was to be here day one and on
day one he.
Speaker 3 (01:53:48):
Left correct, and he made it public.
Speaker 5 (01:53:52):
And he was roughly two miles away from the practice
facility on day one and decided to go eight hundred
miles south.
Speaker 3 (01:54:01):
Nothing, nothing about that makes sense. Now here's the only
question I'll ask, and then we'll be we'll move on
from talking about Trey Hendrickson. What happens Austin if a
week from today we're no further along with Trey Hendrickson.
Are we still seeing that Trey Hendrickson that is helpful
out here? Are we still seeing that to Trey Henderson
(01:54:21):
that's out here talking to teammates, or do we see
a different Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 5 (01:54:26):
It's a good question, because.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
That's my biggest question now.
Speaker 5 (01:54:29):
In that word salad for two minutes in nineteen seconds
that we just heard, he did say the plan is
to help the twenty twenty five Bengals. Okay, can you
be a little bit more clear on what that would
mean yet? What does that mean a week from now
if you still don't have a deal. What does that
mean a three days before the season, if you still
don't have a deal.
Speaker 3 (01:54:49):
You know, based on Ned's approach when he called in
for the bengals sake, I hope they get it figured
out with Trey Hendrickson. I do too, because I think
that he can be a good part for this defense.
But as of now, everything's built on hope.
Speaker 5 (01:55:03):
Like I I've been critical of Trey a lot, I
stand by it. I understand why the Bengals don't want
to invest in him long term. That makes sense to me.
I'm not upset at them for feeling that way. That
being said, I have a hard time understanding what Trey
(01:55:25):
is trying to get out of all this. Like it's
just the way he's handled himself. I just don't love
and this. That just made me more confused than anything else.
And it's it's he absolutely deserves a raise, and he
deserves an extension. Okay, I'll give you that, but I
(01:55:45):
just can't justify giving the guy three years of fully
guaranteed money. That's that's poor business on the Bengals side.
You have to pay a guy for what he's going
to do, not what he has done. The Bengals paid
Jamar Chase and Higgins for what they believe they are
going to do, two young players in their prime. Same
with Joe Burrow. This is his third contract for Trey Henderson,
(01:56:09):
you have to understand the Bengals trepidization here of Like,
I don't know if I want to do this. I
just feel like there's got to be a more middle
ground and him continuing to stand on this weird thing
about him and security in the future. Buddy, you play
in the NFL. There's no such thing. There's no such
thing for me and you ton like, it's just it's
that's life, dude, deal with it. And even then, you've
(01:56:32):
played in the NFL for eight years, you got a
pension for the rest of your life. You're taking care of.
You're fine. You're not gonna You're not gonna pull on
heartstrings with people because you want security for you and
your family. Newsflash, pal, everybody does.
Speaker 3 (01:56:46):
Yep, And there are a lot of folks worse off
than where you're at. Damn right, You're you're not getting
the sympathy vote based on what you want. You know
this long endo your tenure in the NFL. We'll take
a break, We'll I have to go touch and go
get back, and then we'll bring in Mowagar for quick hits.

Hendrickson word salad.
Speaker 3 (01:57:33):

Bengals or Trey Hendrickson, Moe, let's ask this, what do
you got coming up on your show today?
Speaker 1 (01:58:15):
Well, we obviously have to talk about Trey Hendrickson. You
guys just trying to decipher exactly what he was trying
to say. I think I know what he was trying
to say. I think I at least I know what
he's doing. We'll get to that. By the way, Trey Hendrickson,
I think we all believe is here in large part
because he was getting fined fifty thousand dollars a day.
(01:58:36):
Will he get mad at Zach Taylor if zag tells him, Hey, Tray?
Just FYI man, just so you know.
Speaker 5 (01:58:42):
Well, hello boys, Ben breaking Reds news. Yes, Jeff Passion
of ESPN is reporting that the Cincinnati Reds are acquiring
third baseman Kabrian Hayes in a trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Okay,
I hope Tommy fam is thrown in on the deal. Uh,
(01:59:04):
but Cabrian Hayes is a Red.
Speaker 3 (01:59:07):
Okay, Reds made a move here they come.
Speaker 4 (01:59:11):
Do you want me to read for you?
Speaker 3 (01:59:12):
Key?
Speaker 1 (01:59:13):
Brian Hayes's statistics his ops this season five sixty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
He has two home runs in three hundred and ninety
two played appearances. He has struck out eighty one times
and walked eighteen times. He's batting two thirty six. Tommy
fam is having a better season. He's a decent glove
he was the gold Glove winner in twenty two or
twenty three. He's gold Glove winner. His rookie season in
the shortened year twenty twenty was pretty good. Kee Brian Hayes. Key,
(01:59:41):
Brian Hayes is not au Haaneo Suarez. Five years of
team control?
Speaker 30 (01:59:46):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:59:47):
Does Cabrian Hayes have cool?
Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
Okay, just fine.
Speaker 5 (01:59:51):
He's not au Haaneo Suarez.
Speaker 1 (01:59:53):
He's not Auhaneos His five years a team control. He's
twenty eight years old.
Speaker 3 (01:59:59):
Not exactly excitement on this.
Speaker 1 (02:00:01):
Five years a team control because they signed him right,
they bought out, bought out his free agency and arbitration
years and stuff like that in Pittsburgh. Currently working under
an eight year, seventy million dollar contract team option for
twenty thirty.
Speaker 5 (02:00:15):
Sounds like a deal they gave to Sware a few
years ago.
Speaker 3 (02:00:21):
Well no, I mean does that take away.
Speaker 5 (02:00:22):
From God, I'm fire to talk to you?
Speaker 3 (02:00:25):
Do you completely change today's show schedule?
Speaker 4 (02:00:27):
What are they giving up for?
Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
Key Brian Hayes Trying to get to the bottom of
that as we speak.
Speaker 4 (02:00:32):
Okay, okay, Brian Hayes.
Speaker 3 (02:00:37):
Brian Hayes, welcome to Cincinnati, Welcome to a playoff push.
Speaker 4 (02:00:41):
Need a thumper?
Speaker 23 (02:00:42):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:00:43):
He has thirty nine home runs in his big league career. Well,
you have to think mo at Great American Vaullpark.
Speaker 4 (02:00:50):
Yeah, of course, of course.
Speaker 5 (02:00:54):
Think of all the money the Reds have saved on
fireworks this year because they don't at home runs anymore?
Speaker 1 (02:00:59):
What as a rally kill the folks who on the
internet would act like the Reds have won the last
twelve World Series. I'm sure they're telling us that the
Reds just traded for Scott Rolling in his prime. Huh
is Key Brian Hayes, guy to tell you what you know?
He's He's going to make you think of David right
over there at third base.
Speaker 3 (02:01:18):
What we want?
Speaker 1 (02:01:19):
Hey just traded for Aramis Ramirez. He's the second coming
of him.
Speaker 5 (02:01:22):
Guys, waz ever heard that name in years?
Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
Good player, he was, Key Brian Hayes.
Speaker 3 (02:01:31):
Can't wait for his tenure now to begin.
Speaker 5 (02:01:33):
We'll keep an eye out for the return.
Speaker 4 (02:01:34):
Key Brian Hayes, is.
Speaker 3 (02:01:37):
I can't imagine getting news like that right before the show.
Speaker 1 (02:01:39):
Go Here's here's the thing though, Like we talked about
this a little bit earlier, like they do need bench help.
And if keep Brian Hayes is on your team as
bench help, fine, but if like hey, now, now, now
we're gonna move Noelve Martine to right field and our
starting third basement is going to be key Brian Hayes.
Speaker 3 (02:01:57):
He's got two home runs this year. He does so.
Speaker 1 (02:02:00):
He's a good defensive player, like at third base. He
will pick it now, cool, All right, run prevention.
Speaker 3 (02:02:08):
Here we go. What else you got coming up?
Speaker 1 (02:02:10):
Pel k Brian Hayes eraon Cincinnati is about to begin.
Let's see, we'll talk about Trey Hendrickson. I guess anyway,
here's what I was gonna say. So you know, Trey
didn't like it when Zach Taylor told him, reminded him, hey,
you could you know, you can get fined if you
don't come to training camp. And then we all believe
(02:02:32):
that Trey is here, at least in part because and
I can't blame him, but I would have shown up.
You're not gonna I'm not gonna pay you fifty thousand
dollars to not come to work.
Speaker 4 (02:02:40):
Uh, waiting to listen to the two minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:02:43):
Oh, I did just really quick, wait until he finds
out that you don't get paid if you don't play.
Speaker 4 (02:02:48):
In the games?
Speaker 1 (02:02:49):
Yeah, And is Zach Taylor allowed to tell Like if
you're Zach, it's like, do I text this guy? Because
last time I texted him he got all butt herd
and had to tell the world about my tax Like,
like if you there's act you said, like, hey man,
just quick, FYI dude, Like, if you don't suit up
for game one, you're gonna miss out in like eight
hundred and seventy seven thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:03:09):
What I don't understand is the last time Trey Hendrickson
was here. Whatever you think about what he did, it
was calculated, it was planned. He's clearly thought it out.
What I just listened to. Did he not know that
he was gonna get questions like this when he reported
to like acting like you, the plan was to be
here day one. It was made public that you left.
(02:03:30):
He made things public that he left by his Instagram Poe. Yes,
nothing in that in that two minute blurb makes any
sense from Trey Hendrickson. I think it was like he
was caught off guard by the questions.
Speaker 4 (02:03:41):
I think Trey.
Speaker 1 (02:03:44):
Trey Hendrickson is probably a really good guy, right, He's
obviously a good player. I think he is really caught
between genuinely being hurt and trying to express that while
at the same time coming off as a good guy.
And I think that creates these word salad moments. I
don't think and like you said, what he did back
in May was calculated, I'm not really sure it was.
Speaker 4 (02:04:05):
His agent was not aware he was going to do that.
I think he is making this.
Speaker 1 (02:04:09):
All up as he goes along, from instagramming the shot
of him driving down the highway in Florida to suddenly
I think everything here is him making this up as
it goes along. And that's not really a criticism. I
would probably do the same thing. I'm not gonna hold
him too accountable for his work. He's here, right, He's
(02:04:30):
here now. I want to see, like, does this become
a thing every day? Like if I were Trey, and
I wish I was, But if I were Tray, I'd go, look,
I'm gonna talk about it today and then until a
deal's done, I'm not going to talk because I genuinely
don't want to be a distraction, and the more I
talk the more. So I'll give you three four minutes today.
But like I'm done nothing against you, guys. I'll talk
(02:04:51):
with you again when the deal is done and I'm
here to work and help my teammates. I'm really interested
in does does he live up to what he says?
I'm gonna try to not be a distraction, but don't try.
How about just don't be a distraction. We have the return,
okay for Cabrian Hayes. According to Kim Rosenthal, it is
(02:05:13):
Sammy Steffura, who is the Red's fifteenth best prospect according
to MLB dot com, A single, a shortstop and left
hander Taylor Rogers really who I just saw at Penn
Station a couple of weeks ago, so that that would
tell me that the Reds are probably about to make
(02:05:33):
another move for another left hander.
Speaker 4 (02:05:35):
Yeah, big leap, big league player for big league player.
Speaker 3 (02:05:39):
Interesting, Well, who's better Brian Hayes or Santiago.
Speaker 1 (02:05:43):
Espanol Santiago espinall can play a bunch of different positions.
Now I should say they just made their bullpen worse
and now they have to go get two bullpen arms.
Speaker 5 (02:05:53):
Now, as I as I went to retweet that from
Ken Rosenthal. It said that tweet had been deleted, so
it was that he did spell Rogers wrong. So maybe
he's fixing it right now, but put a D in it. Yeah, careful, yeap.
Speaker 4 (02:06:08):
Doesn't he have the edit? Don't you have the edit
capability now?
Speaker 5 (02:06:11):
You would think so some people don't know how to
use it even though they haven't.
Speaker 3 (02:06:15):
I can't imagine there's got to be.
Speaker 5 (02:06:16):
A now he fixed it, Sammy and Taylor Ross.
Speaker 1 (02:06:19):
So what's interesting about that is they acquire a random
third baseman who's got years of team control, who's not
having a very good year. So maybe they made their
offense better by acquiring a guy who's two home runs.
Speaker 4 (02:06:32):
But we all said they need bullpen help, but they
just trade it away.
Speaker 3 (02:06:36):
Essentially, you want you now need two bullpen arms.
Speaker 5 (02:06:38):
I think you could say the bullpen got better with
Taylor Rodgers leaving.
Speaker 4 (02:06:41):
He was okay.
Speaker 3 (02:06:42):
I would also like to go get an actual bat
that that makes a difference.
Speaker 1 (02:06:47):
Brian Hayes really doesn't fit that description. What's coming up
on the show that I don't know? Man like uh,
Sam brook House, Sumer, Sports, Robert Wine, Troub, Tony Pike.
Speaker 5 (02:06:56):
Yeah, you're gonna break down Sammy Stefera.
Speaker 4 (02:06:59):
No, I'm gonna talk about Kim Ryan Hayes.
Speaker 3 (02:07:01):
All right, let's do that in our first training camp report.
Speaker 1 (02:07:03):
And make fun of Trey Hendrickson. So it kind of
does make it easy to make fun of him.
Speaker 3 (02:07:06):
Don't mean whatever that two minutes in nineteen very is
that I'll never get back is easy.
Speaker 1 (02:07:11):
I just does he realize, dude, if you don't play
the first game, you're not gonna get paid. And will
he get like if if if Zach seriously like he
got mad because Zach Taylor just gave him a friendly reminder, Hey, man,
if you don't.
Speaker 4 (02:07:25):
Come to practice, we'll find you. Is he gonna get
all but hurt again?
Speaker 1 (02:07:29):
If Zach Taylor goes dude, just quick reminder, if you
don't come to Cleveland, you're not.
Speaker 4 (02:07:33):
Gonna get paid.
Speaker 1 (02:07:34):
It's gonna become not only a fine, it's just we
don't that game. Check's not gonna show up at your locker.
Speaker 3 (02:07:39):
Yeah, uh mo, have a have a good mini vacation
and enjoy Happy Gilmore too tonight and have a great.
Speaker 4 (02:07:45):
Time tonight is Happy Gilmore Night at my right.
Speaker 3 (02:07:48):
That's right, We're done Mowiger's show is next. ESPN fifteen
thirty Cincinnati sports station
