(00:37):
speaking to members of the media. He's starting with an
update on Trey Hendrickson.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, we'll just see. We'll take it day to day
right now. We'll see if anything be limited anybody else
you'd expect not to go. Some guys might just be limited.
We'll just see as we go.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
What's Yes, that's a primecast for years.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
But what makes it so.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Well They've they've invested there, you know, said, we've got
some high draft picks. Quentin Williams is I mean, he's
he's the first one that jumps out at you. I've
always liked Harrys and Phillips. Their edge guys do a
great job coming off the edge as well. So just
starting with that front four is a problem and they
get a lot out of them. They're very disruptive. Their
defense is played played really well. I mean you just
(01:21):
watch especially this last two weeks. They'd really limited these
offenses in terms of points on the board and made
things difficult for you. So they've got a lot of
talent behind those guys as well. But I just I
think they've done a nice job limiting teams starting with
their front.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
Are they equally effective against the past?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Yea, there are. Everything is difficult, Everything is difficult. If
you give a chance, they'll be very disruptive in the pocket,
affect your passing game. It'd be very mindful of how
you attack them. Had you known before was on the dance, No,
I've always known who he is. You know, a m
guy coach there. I coached there. I mean, but but no,
(02:01):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
What's the difference or what how much of a difference
does it make if it's justin fields.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Versus they're both talented players capable of in their team.
Put them both a lot with different teams, and so
again they're they're both challenging, and whoever's out there is
out there, and we've got to be ready for both.
Speaker 4 (02:21):
Yeah, they're not announcing the starter.
Speaker 7 (02:23):
For at his advantages.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Does it make a big difference?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I best starters on Wednesday?
Speaker 3 (02:28):
No, I think you got to be ready for both
of them.
Speaker 4 (02:31):
Were you able to announce your starting guards for this week?
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I won't do that quite yet.
Speaker 8 (02:36):
In general, do you see that being week the week
going forward or would you like to really settle in.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I'd like to settle in, but but again, I think
we've got guys that are capable. So I like where
we're at because I think we got young guys that
are ascending. I think we've got veterans that absolutely can
get in there and get the job done. So I
feel really comfortable with with what we're at there.
Speaker 6 (02:56):
What have you seen Jalen Rivers in his movie?
Speaker 8 (02:59):
Obviously he started off a tackle in his movie Guard.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I mean he's he played both in college and so
again great film as a guard, and so we like
him in there as a past protector. I think he's
approving in the run game as well. So really smart guy,
very mature for rookie. I don't want to look at
him that way, I guess just the way he conducts
himself and seems very mature. It seems like an experienced player.
(03:23):
And so again he's just continuing to get better and
that the balance.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Yeah, guy's developing those two guards.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
We need to win something. It hasn't been well, you're
just asking a question for this week, but it's kind
of taking care of itself in terms of the injuries
so far.
Speaker 6 (03:38):
Build a website you love with wegs. Wow, that's what
happens when you stream it off of YouTube calling.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
For the Jets. But whoever's not starting is still in
there as a guard getting work, getting physical work. Whenever
we got Scout team carved, we're trying our best to
call it as we would in our terminology, and so
they can work the techniques and so you still get
to as a player. And whether it's a young guy
taking the Scout team work, he's still getting reps and
you're investing getting better. And if it's a veteran player
(04:07):
focused on staying sharp for when your numbers called, So
there's even though they're not the starter in getting the
starter reps, they're still getting plenty of work on the
scout team.
Speaker 9 (04:15):
That's following up on that, is it hard to fight
the urge, whether it be you see the sample size
is what you got from maybe your non starter on
opening day, like last week, compared to what you've seen
over a course of five weeks.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I think those are just always decisions we have to make,
and so you can talk about any position and how
we're going to handle it differently. I think we're in
a good spot. So again, it's not something I'm stressed about.
I think we have really good options and it'll take
shape as that we goes long Do you take the
long term view? You're just you guys trying to find
an answer on who started. We're just again whatever gives
(04:51):
us the best chance to win.
Speaker 10 (04:52):
Now that you've had Joe flapfa here for a couple
of weeks or so, maybe a couple more meetings, a
couple more film sessions, what do you notice about just
how he goes about that is demeanor, how interactive he
is during those sessions.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Consistent, very consistent, never overwhelmed. You know, it's a lot
of information being thrown at you, all things that he's
been exposed to over the course of his career. Maybe
just called differently, maybe just operated differently. So it's just
getting used to how we do it. But again, you
never you never, you can never tell if it's something
he's heard or hasn't heard. His his demeanor is always
the same, which I appreciate because there's no wait, what
(05:27):
is that, There's no panic or anything. He's he's solving
the problem. He gets in the huddle. He calls to
play with confidence when he's in the huddle, which is
critical for the other ten guys to hear. Have that
confidence love on your quarterback. And again it's just impressed
with with how quickly he s picked it all up.
And again it always looks effortless. I know it's not.
I know he's putting in a lot of work, but
(05:48):
that's the feel that it comes off to everybody, and
that's that's a positive.
Speaker 6 (05:51):
Thing for us.
Speaker 10 (05:51):
See the point yet where he's saying, here's what I'm seeing,
here's what I think, let's try this, or is it
more just kind of taking the information and trying to
work as well.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Sometimes that that happens more as the week goes. You know,
early on you're giving them the plan, and then as
the week goes and you've repped it, and you've watched
more tape. That's where more of the interactions come from.
You're watching post practice tape after practice, and those guys
will have ideas coming out of quarterback room, and so
those are those are things that evolve over the course
of the week.
Speaker 11 (06:18):
After the game, you spoke about the need to enunciate
better and joked about your Oklahoma accent might be giving
him trouble. Did you change anything, did you speak more
slowly or anything?
Speaker 3 (06:30):
No, just now, now, as the game ended, I know
now what was causing issues. What words sounded similar during
the game. It's hard to articulate what is what is
it because you're not he's on the field, I'm on
the subline. So now that we know that we don't
have to change how we operate, we can just focus
in on all right, here's the eight plays we have
out of that formation, and so when you hear another
(06:51):
part of it, it'll ring a bell that or I
can cheat if I'm saying a Z word, I can Hey,
this one starts with a Z. I've done that my FNX.
You know those are two receivers that's happened over the
course of my entire life. I you're calling F stick
or X stick quarterback. Anybody in this room maybe couldn't
hear what I just said, which one? And so you've
always had to say, hey, X like triple X or
F is in front. You know, you would be shocked
(07:14):
at how how sometimes you have to do that just
to make sure everybody clearly hears what you're saying, and
the receivers in the huddle hear that as well. And
this is no different than that, Thiku, you're.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
The biggest confidence yall.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
We'll be able to continue the office with success. You
pad them the last say six.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
Quarters or so, well, I think you know, with the
receivers we have, when we when we do a great
job into protection which our guys have had and allows
us to attack you know, down the field and get
our guys to ball in space, that's critical, and then
just continue to build on the run game. You know,
that's we can see the pressure that takes off of
everything when you're able to establish a ground game. And
so I don't think that's rocket science for anybody that that.
(07:47):
Those are great things to have, but when you can
consistently do it and build a momentum on that, then
then you've got a chance to be really successful.
Speaker 10 (07:54):
So mention you wanted to show the film of Jamar
blocking downfield to your guy, I forget that was.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
How did they respond to that?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
What was the reaction like in the room? It's not
a it's not an answer question the answer session. You know,
it's just me showing and and there's not always a
lot of verbal feedback that we get. So I know,
I just I just want to show our great players
doing the little things for everybody else to see. I
think we've got a lot of young talented players that
(08:27):
over time we'll figure better understand. Hey, here's here's the
little things that are getting someone like jam to that
level and to that level. And I just so I
think the more we can show that, the better.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
How critical is the stress go into the buy this
whole chunk of games to Pittsburgh game, Going into.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
Just this game is really all that I care about.
You know, we'll we'll focus on whatever is after that
after that. But right now, being a handle is just
a little bit of success. We haven't had a lot
of success, just a little bit. I've seen how we've
handled the when things go bad, it's guys have responded
the right way, found a way to get a big win. Okay,
now you put that one behind it and you keep
(09:06):
keep trying to improve. It's we have not come close
to reaching our potential as a team yet, and so
that's all important is guys continue to improve, and so
we play our best game against the Jets, and then
whatever comes at us after that, we can focus on that.
Speaker 12 (09:18):
Whenever we ask you about cam taela Brid you use
the word consistency.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
That's the most important with him. What does consistency look
like for him?
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, well, just from snap to snap, you know, consistency
in all areas. I won't get specific with it, but
he's a guy I pooll for. I want him to
do well. I want him to have the opportunity. I
want him take advantage of the opportunity. We've seen what
it looks like when it's really good, and I think
he's focused on on regaining that.
Speaker 6 (09:42):
You still believe he can help this team?
Speaker 3 (09:44):
I do absolutely.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
How happy or how would you characterize this at it?
Speaker 3 (09:49):
His attitude has been good, you know, and again he
understands we're looking for exactly and we'll just we'll look
to see that consistency show up. But I trust that
I can't.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
It seems like year to year, early in the season,
the run game doesn't have a lot of carry over
the previous year. It seems like you're always having to
kind of reinvent that a little bit each year in
different ways.
Speaker 13 (10:12):
Why is that?
Speaker 10 (10:13):
Do you think that maybe it's not that, No, like
it changes year to year where you have to Is
it just different personnel or different guys.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
I wouldn't. I wouldn't necessarily agree with that the truth
with you, I think the bulk of what we've done
is carryover. Maybe it's window dressed a little bit differently,
which is more game plan week to week stuff. There's
always things as you evolve with your align your backs
and just kind of what you're doing formationally that okay,
now we need to focus on this element of the
(10:41):
run game that can help us. So you add that
and you focus on that. But overall, I think if
you looked at the call sheet one year ago today
and the call sheet today, you're going to see very
very similar stuff.
Speaker 14 (10:51):
What are the biggest challenges this year as you guys
have tried to dig out of this thing to get going?
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Would have been the biggest difference is a challenge.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
Just that you felt like over the last month that
you bench away.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Well, I think again it's you guys probably tired of
me saying this, But playing with a lead helps the
run game so much, helps you stick with it, be
consistent with it. This was the first game in a
long time where we have had the opportunity to do
that as a team, and so again having a lead
and feeling like every possession is not life or death.
(11:23):
To stay in this game and be able to just
stick with some runs, call a run on second ten
and not feel like, right if we're in a third
and eight, you know we got an issue here. So
I think just being able to as a team hang
in that game and have a lead allowed us to
keep sticking with that stuff and give us confidence in
that game. And that's just the difference in that game
(11:44):
as opposed to the previous four where we didn't have
enough of that.
Speaker 8 (11:47):
Even felt like early in the season like Chase Brown
would turn like a zero yard run into a two
yard run and then last week a five yard are
into like a thirty yarder.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
What do you thought of just disability to break tackles
this season?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
He's always had that ability to play through contact, to
gain yards after contact, in space, to span off of people,
and so I've always seen that element to him and
I think we got to see a lot more of
it because we got him in more space last week.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
What have your conversation has been like with Al about
tact better.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Well, there's not much I need to say about that.
I think that's that's they take that to heart, and
Ali's dine a great job focusing on that, emphasizing it.
It's not something we've just let fall by the wayside.
It's it's always been a focus for us, and it's
unfortunate what shows up in the games because it's not
where preach, it's not where we rep So he does
a great job of taking the bull by the watch.
Speaker 15 (12:39):
There were you a little bit surprised though, given how
much focus there was on it, and even Al talked
about this and some of the players so much focus
in training campany off season, and you're at the point
now where you're still looking.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I expect to tackle well, So I guess to your point,
are you surprised when it doesn't happen? Anything can happen,
and we just got to be better for it.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Still feel good about the linebacker combination with Barrett.
Speaker 11 (13:05):
Ted was miked up for sound last week, and the
video compilation on the website's pretty amusing.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
You describe his.
Speaker 3 (13:14):
Game persona, his game persona, it's good to start right there.
Good always high energy conversations, I think. I think if
three words describe him, high energy conversations. Tom. Anytime I
(13:35):
go to him with something, it's a high energy conversation
in response, which is great. I like high energy. I
don't want dole, I don't want to be out here.
I want high energy. Let's get this fixed. Yeah, let's
do that. Let's stick with this, Ted Carris, high energy conversation.
Really all in all phases of life, great quality to have.
(13:57):
I love high energy. Bring some juice, know and Ted
brings some juice, and so I appreciate that.
Speaker 10 (14:03):
Has that been one of the longerrated signings over the
years of the culture of that JO wanted to buildings that.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah, no, I think that's a good point. How many
extensions has he gotten here? One or two? Two? Yeah? Two,
He's done a great job. I mean, it's it's to
have a center that cares so much about the nuances
of the position and helping lead the group in conjunction
with the quarterback. I think it's critical Ted Ted. You know,
(14:30):
his dad's a coach, he's the son of a coach.
He's he's invested, so he understands, you know, bringing people
along with him, getting the most out of people, doing
a great job with communication, solving problems, staying one step
ahead of the defense. And I think he's got a
great rapport with with Joe Burrow and everybody else who's
played quarterback with us. They they've got trust that he
knows what he's talking about. It he's done, he's he's
(14:50):
done the work leading up to a Wednesday install meeting.
He's already watched the tape. He knows. So I think
that that's I can't rate on a scale of signings
who's best and who's not, but certainly, God that we
have you.
Speaker 16 (15:04):
Guys have had such a different schedule from Sunday to
Monday to Thursday to four thirty starts. How nice is
it just to have some one o'clocks moving forward knowing, Hey,
that's our schedule.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Yeah, I guess you're right. I yeah, yeah, that's that's
how it goes. And you know, you look at I'm
doing the schedule for the last half the season, and
we're gonna deal with more of that, you know, Thursday
games and Sunday night games and possible Saturday games. So
you just deal with as it comes. Our guys are
pretty used to whatever routine we throw at them, whether
it's a short week on a Thursday game, whether it's
(15:38):
an extra bonus day on a Monday after Thursday or
by or sometimes we'll get those six d eight weeks
post Monday night. So the guys generally respond really well,
and coaches understand the workflow. We've got what we've got
to get done, and trust that the work is gonna
get done. Our guys will have a chance to be
are you.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Getting closer and closer to that week game? You know
with the offense and everybody.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
I think the beauty of it is we several ways
to go. I think, you know, there's we won, and
I'm thankful for that, but that doesn't mean that it's
cleaning all three phases. And there's not a lot of
things that we can prove on and and that's a
good thing that we found a way to win a
tight game. All three of our wins have been find
a way to win games they haven't been. We race
(16:24):
out and we were holding a fourteen point lead, which
I'd love to do at some point. But but there's
also an element to it's good that we've we've had
to find ways to win, and we just got to
continue to build off of that. That's a good quality
to have that you've seen yourself do that at the
end of the game. Now we got to focus on,
you know, building a lead early in the game, playing
really solid and putting teams to bed and winning by
(16:45):
a lighter margin too.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
Been here for all the Ring of Honor games talk
about just what you appreciate about a franchise, recognizing players
and what they've given to the organization.
Speaker 3 (16:57):
I think it's important for our current players to see
the history, you know, so as they look up there
and I look up there today and I see the name.
So I don't know when the names got added, but
today was the first time I noticed it. I don't
know if I was to say that or not. I
don't know. Maybe he's secret, I don't know, but I
think it's just cool to see. I love when I
go into other stadiums, I'm always that's what I do.
(17:17):
I just sit there in pre game more about someone
looking around and trying to remember any memories I have
of those players, And so I think it's special. This
is such a strong history dating back to the sixties
here and all the great players that have come here.
And I've always enjoyed hearing Mike Brown teld one off
stories on different guys, some of the Ring of Honor,
some not. I love that kind of stuff, and so
I think it's really cool to recognize our players. To
(17:39):
see those names up there forever, those those men, to
those that are around, to get a chance for their
their kids and grandkids to see him up there, I
think that's spectacular. Lapp them over here. You know, it'll
be really neat, you know, for his whole family, Sarah,
everybody to get up here and see it, see it
up there, and it never goes away.
Speaker 7 (17:57):
You know.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
It's It's like when you win a conference championship in college.
I always tell those guys that number stays up there forever.
Whatever year you wanted, that stays up there forever, and
every time you go back you get to see it
and hear in the Ring of Honor. It's the same
for these guys that get a chance to see their
names up there and never goes away, and pretty pretty special,
pretty rare. You know, you think of all the players
that play in this league and have impacted every different city.
(18:20):
To have your name up there is the best of
the best. That's the that's not the point one percent,
it's the point one percent, you know, all the guys
that have come through this building. So pretty neat Congressgator,
thank you.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
Awesome way to finish that. Head is Zach Taylor speaking
to members of the media. Obviously, Dave Lapham will be
recognized as part of the Ring of Honor ceremony on
Sunday as well. A couple of the things that stood
out Austin day to day for Trey Hendrickson, if you
were to practice today, it would be on a limited basis.
And I'm going to start using the term high energy conversations.
(18:52):
I think we need more of those around here. That's
I'm gonna put that task on Keig and Nickoson when
he joins at two o'clock. Oh yeah, high energy conversation.
That's never been an issue with no and for listeners,
high energy talkbacks. Those are things we're looking for. Yeah,
high energy conversations. That's what makes sinc he three to
sixty go your talkbacks come up next. ESPN fifteen thirty
(19:15):
Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
Now go and grab your phone and record a message.
Speaker 17 (19:20):
Just hit that microphone.
Speaker 6 (19:22):
Please keep it clean and don't be mean.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
And those sprinkle sprinkle drip drip drip drip.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
It's a Despert talkbacks.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
It's such favorite party since E three sixty. So Austin, buddy,
play those talkbacks on your screen and please drive now
do sabotage it.
Speaker 6 (19:43):
Just so well done, man, I mean that's professional grade
right there. It's absolutely phenomenal. And what a way to
lead into your your talkbacks this afternoon. Yeah, thanks to
CINCI shirts. Trying to make sure they are all loaded
in here correctly because there are a lot of them.
All boys I here today and just making sure I
got this correct. Let's begin.
Speaker 18 (20:10):
You guys watch.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
Episode last night He freaking juice bumps man.
Speaker 18 (20:15):
That was blos felt my game out of the.
Speaker 9 (20:18):
NBA Finals last night.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
In the game one.
Speaker 18 (20:22):
Bangs get after this week.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
It was where does he? Where is he atay from?
Speaker 19 (20:31):
I know?
Speaker 6 (20:31):
It was something about NBA on NBC and that fired
me up.
Speaker 18 (20:34):
Yeah, this is Gina and Tony, welcome back. And I
really enjoyed all the talkbacks sharing all their love and
appreciation for you.
Speaker 6 (20:44):
And we're all grateful that you're back.
Speaker 18 (20:46):
And you know, when something is taken from you and
you get it back, it's a lot sweeter the second
time around. You and Addie, I tell you you are
the heart and iHeartRadio love you both.
Speaker 6 (21:00):
We should put that on our profile page. That gives
me an idea.
Speaker 5 (21:03):
Man, Tony Austin Fulling, ain't easy.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
What a joy, what a joy to have your back tone.
I was really worried.
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Everybody.
Speaker 13 (21:12):
Everybody was asking me what was wrong today that dreadful
day when it happened, I said, well, my boy, big
Tone got canned. And it was very relatable because I
got canned earlier this year and there was a mere
mortal who got canned just about a month ago. You know,
in this economy, you never you just never know. But
one thing's for sure. This jumper will never leave me.
And it won't and I'm I'm working every day and
(21:32):
I'll see you in May.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
Oh man, how you say that jumper will never leave you?
If it never never was there? What's up?
Speaker 17 (21:40):
Tony and Austin? I was just hitting you guys up
because I was reading through the sports news today and
saw Louisville signed London Johnson. Yeah, twenty twenty six class
and this gentleman has played three years in the G League.
It looks like Tom Izzo had a YouTube video and
down about it, and I was just kind of wondering
(22:02):
what your thoughts were.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
Yeah, we gave those talks at the start of the show. Yeah,
happy hunt everybody.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
Did I see it that right?
Speaker 20 (22:09):
Amarus? Men's give it zero sacks to Michael Parsons and
TJ Watt. That's what Jim said on X. That's so,
that's kind of impressive. Risener not being out there Sunday
next to OBJ. I think that's a mistake. Zach Taylor
better put him out there. They work well together for
ain't broke. Don't fix it and tell him you said
you're getting fitted on Friday for the big Hall of
(22:30):
Fame ceremony.
Speaker 21 (22:30):
Congratulations again.
Speaker 20 (22:31):
By the way, I hope you're taking Meredith with you.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
Let her pick the outfit out. Okay, that's that is
not my decision. Do they give you like a bust
or anything? You get like a bronze bust to your Noggin.
I don't think so. No, I don't believe so.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Why not?
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Maybe they do. By the way, we don't know the
starting guards. Zach Taylor won't tell us who the starting
guards are. Noncommittal.
Speaker 22 (22:54):
Put me on the line, No, put me on the
line with him.
Speaker 7 (22:56):
I want to talk to a manager right now.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
This is an outrage. Hey, how you doing so?
Speaker 23 (23:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 24 (23:02):
This is Bob for Winn Shuler's cheese.
Speaker 25 (23:04):
I advertise on your program if you don't get Tony Pike.
Speaker 13 (23:07):
Back on the air, I'm gonna come down there with
a can of cheese. I'm gonna stick it up.
Speaker 6 (23:10):
Your Bob is the nicest guy in the world, Bob.
I would never imagine he would sound like that, Bob,
but maybe, maybe, just maybe, gosh, he would do something.
I could take some more cheese.
Speaker 25 (23:23):
Oh.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
This is former President Ronald Regan and welcome to Wish
for It Wednesday.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
Here's what I wish for.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
I wish the Bengals would wear throwback nineteen seventies jerseys
and helmets once a year. I wish the Reds had
a legit power hitter. Oh, and I wish Joe Burrow
would return as quickly as Tony did.
Speaker 6 (23:46):
You know Scott's Loan's already back moving around here well
at the station. Yeah, he was fresh off Joe so long,
fresh off of his tendon that was repaired in his ankle.
I would be all about throw back unis Yeah, it's
it's difficult with the NFL's uniform rules. The Bengals basically
mixed any possibility of a sixties or seventies era throwback
(24:09):
when they went to the white Bengal helmet, because what's
unique about the Bengal orange helmets is that those are
not decals or any Bengals helmet. The stripes are not decals.
Those are painted on, which is very unique. That doesn't
happen in a lot of NFL cities or NFL You
see a lot of these videos as just replacing the
(24:30):
decals correct. And so theoretically, if the Bengals stripes were decals,
you could remove the decals and put like the pumpkinhead
Bengals on the side of it and then get figure
out the rest with the uniform thing. But because of
that rule, they can't. But they do have a uniform
slot open, which would mean they could do a throwback
(24:55):
of the eighties or nineties era Bengals if they wanted
to to do that, and I think they would be
smart to do that, And I just get I don't
know this for sure. I have not talked to anybody
inside that organization about this, but I feel like, not
next year, but twenty twenty seven, there's gonna be something
special come because it's gonna be their sixtieth anniversary season
(25:18):
and they're going to change the way they do the
Ring of Honor and they'll probably bring some new guys
in and maybe catch up. But I think there's a
possibility for something throwback like in that twenty seven season.
Speaker 12 (25:31):
Okay, Tony, during your two week absence, my buxome old
lady made the observation, Wow, he really is part time Pike,
And I said, no, I think Tony really was given
the gate. This isn't some sick joke. Austin is playing
right now, curled up in the fetal position, eating pine
after pint of Graters ice cream. Here's what happened. Rad
(25:52):
and MBA and I, well, we went and had a
meeting with the powers that be and we.
Speaker 26 (25:57):
Did some arm twisting, and bottom line is.
Speaker 6 (26:00):
You're welcome, Thank you. It's been a sick sick prank.
Speaker 27 (26:04):
Hey guys, it's Boomer Drew from South Bend. Boom, Austin Elmore.
I really like your new sidekick. He's great. It's a
lot better than the last joker you had. Thank you,
just kidding. Look, this is a great show, Austin. You
do a great job, absolutely great job. But the show
is just a lot more fun with you two on it,
(26:25):
and we need both of you on it, to be honest.
I really love the community that it's built. Just much
success to you, guys, Thanks.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 24 (26:35):
So I go out of town for a few days
and I listen return on the radio days see what
I kind of missed, And lo behold, I hear Tony
Pike on the radio. I don't know how I missed
this or missed the news, but congratulations Austin. I think
you do a great job as well. But Tony, congrats
will get your job back if that is the case.
Like I said, I just heard you on the radio today.
(26:57):
So anyway, go bear Cat to go Bengals, and Tony
will be seeing you at the homecoming parade this week.
Speaker 6 (27:04):
Yes, co Grand Marshall of the Homecoming Parade. Yeah, I
sometimes forget that there are people out there that just
don't use social media. Yeah, that don't live on social
media like us. I got a phone call from somebody
earlier that said, is Tony back? So yeah, he is,
welcome back. Hello, Hello, this is Evan. Yeah, Tony, Tony.
Speaker 28 (27:29):
The other day God called in and you actually talked
to him on the phone. He usually leaves the talk back,
but this time he had a conversation.
Speaker 6 (27:40):
It was live. He's pretty down to earth.
Speaker 29 (27:44):
He's just like you and me.
Speaker 6 (27:47):
I thought that was neat. Thank you.
Speaker 23 (27:53):
What's up, Tony? What's up Boston? This is Ash from Tampa.
It's up, but Tony. I was back to see you
Dan here in the past two weeks at the dak
Rey Deck. I guess you never crossed pass. I'm glad
you're back. Hope all as well today, baby, Yep, that
was my next move.
Speaker 6 (28:11):
It's gotta be tough with everything going on, you'll probably
never ever be able to ever get a vacation again.
Speaker 30 (28:20):
Hey Tony, Hey, Jimmy, Hey, listen, man, Hey, it's good
to have you back.
Speaker 5 (28:26):
Man.
Speaker 30 (28:27):
I missed you so much and uh, oh my god,
I'm god getting hungry. Listen, Hey, Austin Austin.
Speaker 6 (28:34):
Gilmour did a great job, Gilmore.
Speaker 30 (28:37):
Yeah, he really carried the show there, you know. Uh,
But I'm going to have you back. We're gonna do something. Hey,
tell me where I'll send you something. Tell me where
to send the bill, I mean the food.
Speaker 7 (28:47):
All right?
Speaker 6 (28:48):
Take take care, Thanks Jimmy. It's always good to hear from.
What up shoplifting, Tony?
Speaker 14 (28:53):
Oh?
Speaker 31 (28:54):
What's a better matchup for the Bengals this weekend? Is
it going against Fields or Tailor? I trod day to day,
but Fields could probably beat the Bengals with his legs, definitely.
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Not his passing game.
Speaker 31 (29:06):
But I'm hoping that this weekend's an easy weekend for
the Bengals to pull out a win.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
But you never know.
Speaker 31 (29:13):
Any given Sunday, Give any thoughts. Have a blessed day, Tony.
I'm happy.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I worry after watching Rogers just relax in the pocket.
I worry about the lack of pass rush and the
poor tackling. I would worry more about Fields playing in
this game than Taylor.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
I think you could apply the same thing and go
opposite and say I'd rather have Justin Fields make poor
decisions rather than beat you with his athleticism. But I
do think a to Rod Taylor with a compromised knee, right,
it might be a better matchup. Ye, speaking of.
Speaker 32 (29:53):
Wind schoolers cheese spreads, when you went off to college, Ricky,
I did a full spread for Playgirl magazine under the
name of my Concho A full spread?
Speaker 6 (30:06):
Is that a movie reference? I don't get.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
So.
Speaker 33 (30:10):
In the last ten Mini Buy games as in post
Thursday Night football, apparently the Bengals are zero nine and one.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
Really correct, so hopefully we will.
Speaker 33 (30:29):
Beat the Jets on Sunday.
Speaker 6 (30:30):
Who days, that's a crazy statistic. Yeah, I got it
right here, hold on, I guess that I'll get the notes.
Jay Morrison wrote about this this week. The Bengals are
six and four on Thursdays over the last ten seasons,
but they have lost nine straight after the mini by
dating back to twenty fifteen. Yawser's that's from Jay Morris, yowsers.
Speaker 34 (30:54):
P fifteen Audi. Guess who's back back again? Tpie's backs.
Tell a friend the talk backs have been out the chain.
I ain't had a chance to get in here, man,
move mount healthy. It's just saying it's nice to see
you back. It's like Peanut butter and chocolate. That made
the comeback, and I'm glad your back brother. Much success
(31:17):
to you and Audie. I love your show. Keep doing
what you're doing.
Speaker 6 (31:21):
And peanut butter and chocolate. I haven't heard that one before,
but I mean it. That is good. Man. If we
were peanut butter and jelly, who's peanut butter and who's jelly? Well,
I don't know. I don't need either of them by themselves. Dude,
you are the worst. I don't need either, just the worst.
(31:41):
That right there is a fireable offense. Might people got
me in trouble? I ate peanut butter out of the
jar last night when I was watching the NBA. Then
I'll be jelly.
Speaker 27 (31:55):
Hold on, I haven't listened in a little in a week?
Speaker 17 (31:59):
Do I hear Bike back on the radio?
Speaker 11 (32:02):
What the what?
Speaker 35 (32:05):
Welcome back, Nate, hear you?
Speaker 6 (32:10):
Thanks for listening.
Speaker 26 (32:13):
Hey, Teddy, I said, glad you're back.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
I'm so glad you're back.
Speaker 36 (32:17):
I do got a question that that's DeAndre eight Man.
He's got a really, really flat face. I don't think
he's gonna fit in with the Lakers either. Like he's
got one of those spaces where he's like coach says, Hey,
take a look at yourself.
Speaker 26 (32:29):
In the mirror, and they're like, DeAndre, what you doing?
Speaker 36 (32:32):
His face is like flat with the mirror and he's like,
I'm just doing.
Speaker 19 (32:35):
What you told me.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
I never heard someone described as having a flat face.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Hey, it's David.
Speaker 22 (32:43):
Belly, American League Champion, just checking in on Cincinnati.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
Down there.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
I'd like to play a little game with you. I'd
like you to look up the.
Speaker 22 (32:53):
Band The Heavy and then find the album The House
that Di't Built, and then click on track number two
for me. I think you'll have fun with that. Good
luck next season, you're gonna need it.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
Tang, Thank you, David. Wow.
Speaker 29 (33:09):
I'm not trying to speak ill of the network that
employees both of you, but they keep throwing these dumb
ads on the app when I'm trying to leave a talkback.
So if I left like a five to ten second one,
I apologize. I was trying to say Tony, now that
it's Tony Pike, since he three to sixty, when's the
live Augies broadcast? Let's do a live show at Augie's.
You know, heck, I'll bartend.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Why y'all do it?
Speaker 19 (33:31):
It'll be so much fun.
Speaker 29 (33:32):
I have all the talkbackers show up, We'll do live talkbacks.
Speaker 19 (33:36):
Sounds like a good idea.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
Maybe I should be president or something.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
It's been one of my goals since the show. This
show's inception is to do a live show from Aggies.
Hasn't been in the cards.
Speaker 6 (33:46):
Hey, Just one thing on.
Speaker 26 (33:47):
The Bengals too.
Speaker 36 (33:48):
They just talk about Ted Karris. Obviously he's a great dude.
He comes from a great line, great people.
Speaker 13 (33:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
I mean, besides the.
Speaker 35 (33:56):
Coach, we're gonna cut that. That was a coach un
That was not a high energy talked back the end
of that one.
Speaker 37 (34:07):
Tony Austen, We're having a great day, you too, Ryan, Yeah,
I just want to give a shout out to you, Tony.
I'm being inducted into UC's Hall of Fame and mister
Dave Lapham into the Bengals Hall of Fame.
Speaker 6 (34:23):
So you guys are awesome. Man, I'm so pumped for
Dave Lapham. That's right, man, me too, so fricking deserving. Hey,
guy Marcus from the Groove.
Speaker 25 (34:34):
So for the World Series, I know some people look
at it like Dodgers win. At least the Reds got
beat by the World Series champions. The way I look
at it is Reds fans want the Dodgers to lose
because so far, the Reds are still the last National
League team to.
Speaker 24 (34:54):
Go back to back World Series champions.
Speaker 19 (34:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
I get that.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
It's like, you know, the Dolph one's rooting for a
team to lose and not go undefeated. But at the
same time, Austin, you could also hang a banner that
the Reds lost to the World Series champs in the playoffs. Yeah,
and that is a bannerable thing. I disagree with that.
I don't care about that at all.
Speaker 6 (35:14):
Banners. No, that idea that they lost to the World Champs,
I don't care about. I would rather I agree with
Marcus hold that, you know, last team to go back
to back, so you're holding on to the past. Yes,
that's all I had. All right, man, Sorry, we knew
what you were saying.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Well, welcome back, Tony. Thank you to see that you're
back on the radio and we're here.
Speaker 38 (35:39):
I know if I was going to continue listening or not,
but and I saw Austin was going to be the
permanent person. I was like, man, I am going to
continue to tune in because I do dig him, but
they did him wrong.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
I hope they find him his own show.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
That's terrible. Pull the rug out from under an anything
like that.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Did you leave a talk back?
Speaker 6 (36:02):
Thanks man, I'm gonna save that one. That might be
for Cinci shirt Twitter of the Week right there right
in the LBA boy Away.
Speaker 21 (36:11):
Anyways, like your back, Pally.
Speaker 39 (36:14):
I was worried about you for a little bit, I sayed,
putting Christmas lights up.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
And I tell you what I'm like. Oh, this guy
is in deep, deep, deep deep do Anyways, I'm worried
about uc Clifton. I think we're gonna lose Old Saddie.
Speaker 40 (36:28):
I want him, God now, I want a cape on.
Speaker 6 (36:31):
But I think he's gonna go that carpet bagger.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Dennis is gonna move on somewhere else.
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Guaranteed, Old Saddie.
Speaker 2 (36:39):
I were worried about losing Saddy to another job of
the old repping the city.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
What up, Tony, What up, buddy, Tony? Welcome back?
Speaker 14 (36:47):
Gee, we missed it.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
You belong on radio.
Speaker 14 (36:49):
I watched the Big twelve press conference yesterday, and I
watched a little bit today. The Lady Cats gotta show
him loved Alexander Yo. They got my attention. This is
the year of the Cats, the man's basketball. I think
it's to the tournament and win it. Football, get to Dallas, Bengals,
man beat the Jets, get the five hunting, and we
can talk about that Bears game later on. All I
want to do is win f he Cinscinnati beat them.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I don't know if they need to win the whole tournament.
I think they need to win a game in the tournament.
But watch out for the women lady Cats too. Now
with d Alexander, I agree with that.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
Now he called you G. He said, what up? Gee?
I'll take it. I think G always plays. Yeah, we
have we have a coworker who always calls me pimp
m like pamp or pimping pamp? What up Pamper? What
up pimping? He says, what up? Pimp? Okay, I think
it's been twenty years since people said that. I kind
(37:42):
of want to call him on it. Yeah, I don't
know if I should. Do you think he thinks that
that's still a thing. Yes, he absolutely does. Okay. He
also will give me fist bumps, but he won't extend
his arm, so he keeps his arm like attached to
his chest. Basically, he's got very long arms, very long limbs.
This person, okay, a long limbed pimping. No, there's no
(38:06):
in it's just pimp, pimp. So he'll barely stick his
wrist out and say, what up, pimp? I have to
do all the work, I have to reach over. I
don't like doing the fist bumps with this. Okay, do
you do you? Does anybody call you pimp?
Speaker 8 (38:24):
No?
Speaker 6 (38:25):
What's the last time you got called pimp? Years? Okay?
Speaker 26 (38:29):
Hello, So happy Tony, Austin was finally getting the number
one billing that he deserves. It's still nice to have
you back.
Speaker 6 (38:44):
That's a deep cut for some of you. That's your
girlfriend because that hurts.
Speaker 9 (38:51):
Hey, don't.
Speaker 40 (38:54):
Welcome back. It's the same show that we all know.
Welcome back. Bustin and Tone do a great job. Welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, come.
Speaker 19 (39:14):
Great.
Speaker 41 (39:17):
Well, hello there, Oh my goodness, gracious, this is a harah,
you know, from the establishment next to the doctor deck
down here in Florid, dough Well, Tony, we were all
set for your arrival, you know, come down here and
soak your tears with us.
Speaker 38 (39:31):
But we happy you're back on the air.
Speaker 41 (39:33):
We're catching you on the satellite down to seventy five
once against Sharah. See a Dicrey deck in the spring
Ton of Boys.
Speaker 6 (39:41):
Is there an establishment like that next to the day
There's a lot of establishments down there there. So there's
one strip club in green Bay, Wisconsin. Wow. And it's
called it's either called the White House. Don't say it's
either or it's like you don't know, it's either the
White House or the Oval Office. I think it's called
(40:01):
the White House. It is a presidential thing, you think
or you know, Pam. I know because when you drive
into green Bay there is a huge billboard with a
scantily clad woman that says green Bay's only gentleman's club,
the White House. And it's got like the presidential seal
(40:22):
on it. That is absurd. You go to those type
of places down there next to the Dakary Deck, No,
I don't think they have one.
Speaker 19 (40:29):
In Cesta Key tug Beacon dicted the bottom pool with
the calling. First of all, Audi, you did a great
job hosting show while it was your job.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 19 (40:37):
You remind me of two thousand and nine Bearcats football
season quarterback Zach Kolaris. You come in, you do a
good job when Tony's pike is not available. You win,
win win, just starting to build momentum, and then Tony's
pike Waltz is back in and takes her job.
Speaker 6 (40:54):
That's right, it's always I've always been a man of
Zach Kolaros, to be honest. That is fantastic. Yeah, I
mean has been good back to back days. Man, Yeah,
he solid. It doesn't happen often.
Speaker 14 (41:05):
For help, how does that have?
Speaker 21 (41:08):
Like a ten year career in Chaga, but you just
go the NFL and then I don't know, I don't.
Speaker 6 (41:14):
Get it just fizzled out.
Speaker 33 (41:15):
It was.
Speaker 6 (41:16):
It's just brutal. I got the chance to meet Vinnie.
I heard I blowed away.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Bos did, But comeboy, I'd like to welcome back. Oh
Tony Peck.
Speaker 21 (41:34):
You're about the third best duo on Cincinnati Sport, behind
me and Marty Brinahan, also behind George Grant and Chris Swills.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
Then there's you two.
Speaker 21 (41:45):
Actually I heard that. Oh I heard read you couldn't
pay Tony's buyout. His was in the millions, so they
just told him to come on back.
Speaker 6 (41:56):
Yeah, if my bio was like that, you wouldn't hear me.
Right now, back to the house, you wouldn't hear me,
Old James Franklin over there. Oh my god, high energy
Howard here.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
If you won't it, you can get it.
Speaker 40 (42:08):
Let me know.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
I can't wait for Hall of Famer Tony Park to
take the field.
Speaker 3 (42:12):
I can't wait to beat the bell of Bears.
Speaker 39 (42:15):
I can't wait to cross the Jets domination all week long.
Speaker 6 (42:20):
That's high energy Howard. Uh, you gonna need high energy conversations. Baby.
By the way, got confirmation from someone in Green Bay
Oval office.
Speaker 12 (42:29):
Hi, Swillie, you're durned right Tony's jelly because jam don't
shake like that.
Speaker 39 (42:34):
Come on, come on, little Stuart Scott, Damn Ben stop
stop just getting out of the dispensary here and you
guys want high energy.
Speaker 6 (42:47):
I'm about to get some energy up in here. Okay,
how come we don't have a dispensary to advertise on
the show?
Speaker 11 (42:57):
Great question, Hey Tony, I'm glad you're back because you
know me and random questions.
Speaker 37 (43:04):
Have you ever been on the bottom of a football
pile and been like claustrophobic or can't breathe or anything
like that?
Speaker 6 (43:13):
Hey, Tony was like Cam Newton. He didn't get you
didn't jump on the ball when it was.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
You're just begging to get out. There's people trying to
grab things down there. Poke guy, It's just it's not
a place you want to be.
Speaker 6 (43:23):
I mean, I can even attest to that from playing
high school, Ain't it ain't a place you want to be.
Speaker 7 (43:29):
Has you ever been a more pimping studio than I
Heart Radio? What's up, Pim? Bring it into the short arm.
Bill Walton here, good to hear you, guys. Back as
your duel on the three six Steed Radio. Doney, I'll
be at the Hall of Fame Honors on Saturday. I
might walk up through the blimp, the float, whatever you
(43:50):
may be. I might be on ale wash Cup, but
I'll make it a peerad.
Speaker 11 (43:54):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (43:55):
How about that.
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Is going to be here?
Speaker 6 (43:58):
Let's go. That was our last all right one segment.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
When we get back Keig and Nickolson standing by from
Big twelve Media Day, We've got a lot still to go.
Speaker 6 (44:07):
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. You're one stop for
advertising called eight four.
Speaker 1 (44:12):
Four Daddy, brought to you in part by bud Light
and by Oakley Greens On ESPN fifteen thirty, the official
home of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 6 (44:23):
Welcome back.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
It is Sincy three to sixty football in the NATI,
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Do we have any
injury any other injury updates? Austin, We have not got
to it. For the Cincinnati Bengals, Cedric Johnson is back.
Speaker 6 (44:35):
Yes, Cedric Johnson. They opened his twenty one day window
to begin practicing. This is actually a good thing because
Cedric Johnson, outside of Trey Hendrickson, was probably their best
pass rusher the last five or six games. It was
Joseph Osai and Cedric Johnson that really played well those
last five games that helped the Bengals even come remotely
close to the playoffs alongside Trey. So hopefully Seed Johnson
(44:58):
can perform and get back onto the field sooner rather
than later. Trey Hendrickson is at practice today. He's dressed
for practice. Zach said earlier he would likely be designated
as limited, but he is at practice. Cam Sample, another
defensive end he is not at practice today. He was
dealing with a left leg injury that he suffered against
(45:21):
the Steelers. He is still considered day to day, but
he is not practicing today. At the fields adjacent to
pay Course Stadium. Someone is practicing today and it is
noteworthy news across the NFL. Lamar Jackson spotted back at
Ravens practice. So there you have it. One more for
the Bengals. Tanner Hudson is back at practice. He missed
(45:41):
the Steelers game after being in concussion protocol after the
Packer game. So Tanner Hudson back at practice today.
