Holiday season that much more special at any of the

top of our number two, which means we have Zach
(00:41):
Taylor speaking right now at pay Course Stadium.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Can we start with yesterday there was a report that
your contract with the Bengals goes through twenty twenty seven.
Can you confirm if that's true, and if so, the
organization decided not to announce it. Do you know why
the team decided not to announce it a year after
they announced?
Speaker 5 (01:00):
Think everyone matters.
Speaker 6 (01:00):
I coach every day like it's my last and I've
been through years in twenty nineteen, twenty twenty that were
literally you coach every game thinking it could be your
last game. And I've seen how we responded after that
twenty one twenty two, competing for division titles and championships.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
And so this year is no different from me.
Speaker 6 (01:17):
It's going through adversity coaching every game in this profession
like it could be your last one. I have a
lot of confidence in our staff that we're going to
get this turned around and we're going to finish the
season really strong and put together a great plan to
get back to those championships I mentioned, So very confident
we can do all that.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Though it is through twenty seven. I'm not going to
respond to that. I just told you. I coach every
day like it's my last one.
Speaker 7 (01:40):
You don't get a chance to talk to ownership or
do we don't get that opportunity? What kind of assurances
have you been given from We just talk every week?
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Every week you've talked about your contractor every week we
talk about everything. What was the last time we spoke
about your contract?
Speaker 6 (01:56):
And that's not really part of our conversation. It's every
week we're trying to create together a great plan to
win football games and make sure our team's ready to go.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
Make sure I'm ready to go.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
So I know that's of curiosity to you guys, But
we're just focused on being the.
Speaker 7 (02:10):
Dolphins that's reassessed after the season every year.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Ask them, we don't get that chance.
Speaker 5 (02:17):
Okay, Well I'm sorry, Okay, I'm just being straightforward with that.
Speaker 7 (02:22):
We would ask them, we don't get that, Okay.
Speaker 6 (02:27):
Going through protocol, Yeah, he's still going through proto. Yeah,
he'll be same as last week. He'll go through practice day,
went through the walkthrough, but again protocol, so I'm not
going to make any guess his own where it ends up.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Is anyone else out this week?
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Chris Jenkins will be out for sure. There's some other
guys will work through the next couple of days, some
of the ones we talked about the other day, but
don't want to make any prediction when they end up,
but Chris will be the one that's out for sure.
Marius looks pretty good. So again, once we get on
the field, we'll assess this guys better. But I felt
really good about Marius coming out of yesterday.
Speaker 8 (03:00):
Back in the game, at some point, obviously we didn't
see Traders a time.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
I mean, what was that like win? I honestly don't
remember even at what point it happened. As we see now.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
So just he was out at that time, it wasn't
a lot of conversation.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
We were just trying to go four points.
Speaker 9 (03:17):
There's the confidence that ownerships has shown in. You gave
you the peace of mind when you're evaluating young players
and trying to rebuild the defense.
Speaker 6 (03:28):
Here's what I try to do every day, make the
best decisions so we can win the game. And a
lot of that is trying to strengthen your team and
your roster by giving opportunity guys like that, like we've
done this season. So I think if you're if you twofold,
if you're going to say, well, I'm going to do
things because this could I want to do what's best
for our team and our program to win immediately, win
long term. And so that's every decision. If if you're
(03:51):
worried about losing your job and that's how you're going
to make your decisions, you're not going to be very
effective what you do.
Speaker 5 (03:55):
And it's been a disappointing year. We're not going to
run from that.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
I'm not gonna run from and the blame falls at
my feet, nobody else's truthfully, I got my hands all
over this thing.
Speaker 5 (04:05):
Haven't done a good enough job. I understand that, but
I also.
Speaker 6 (04:08):
Have seen how this staff can respond and these players
can respond because we've been through this before. This is
very similar to the end of twenty twenty that felt
very bleak, and this is scourging and all we did
was turn around to respond with back to back divisional championships,
which is rare to do in this division, play for
conference championships, play for super Bowls. I feel extreme confidence
that we know how to do that, we know how
(04:28):
to get back to that, and that's exactly what goin
Are sid are mind.
Speaker 9 (04:31):
To do a big thing you guys did in that
offseason after twenty twenty, you go get Trey, you go
get multiple regions like that. Are you confident in ownership
given that Burrows making more that they'll.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
Be able to do.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
I'm confident that we're going to make the best decisions
for the organization. It's I got a ton of belief
in our coaching staff, our scouting department, our ownership that
we are very much in alignment with every decision we've
ever made here.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
And so again, when.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
Things haven't been good enough over the course of this season,
there's really no one to blame other than me, truthfully,
and so I know we all play a piece of this,
but I'm the guy that get to sit there and
talk to the team every single week and present plans
and make in game decisions. And so frustrating that that
I haven't done any job this year, but a ton
of confidence, and maybe it rings hollow to everyone listening,
but I know that we've been here before and I've
(05:17):
seen how we can get out the other side.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
I'm very confident we're gonna get that done.
Speaker 9 (05:21):
Criticism, certainly publicly, why do you?
Speaker 2 (05:23):
Because I know you believe in them? Why do you?
Speaker 6 (05:26):
Because I've worked oude by side with him for seven
years now and I have a ton of confidence and
how he sees things and the vision he's got and
the vision that we have together.
Speaker 5 (05:36):
Our scouting.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
Our scouting staff does a great job, and it's it's
rare that you get a chance to have like a
really personal relationship with them and see them and be
on the same page and communicate.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
The way that we do.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
It's not that way everywhere, and so I really like
to set up we have and I think it works
well for us, and we'll work really well for us
going forward, you'd have to ask him he's been He's
been great so far to my eye, we haven't got.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
On the field yet. But again, when you guys get
that up and you.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
Can ask, you anticipate in practice today.
Speaker 10 (06:03):
Joe Burrow, Yes, I do appreciate have a very minor
wib good locker nothing if you're monitoring that closely, especially
now the team out.
Speaker 11 (06:16):
Clicking at the roster, it's a very high percentage of
guys who have never played in the playoffs here. Yeah,
how you had to adjust the way you present the
things you teach considering that so many guys just don't
know what that's like.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah, a lot of it is.
Speaker 6 (06:30):
We've we've got a rhythm that we think serves us well.
We're never afraid to modify anything over the course of
the week. We do that you do in on the
coaching staff. Who's who's been in those games you mentioned,
We got a lot of players in our team that
have been in those games. And then again, we feel
like we've accumulated a lot of guys that have won,
whether it just be at the college level, if they're
(06:50):
new to our team, and that's that's a big part
of it. So again, that hasn't gotteness where we need
to be this year, but there're certainly winning attitude in
the locker room, and guys are and what the standard
looks like and do a good job holding each other
through that.
Speaker 11 (07:03):
Has this been a year where you've kind of felt
kind of a story of that year has been the
youth and then you trying to step up and do
more and go through that process.
Speaker 6 (07:10):
Yeah, there's an element of that, And there's always going
to be years where you find that, you know, where
you're trying to balance the best you have on the
team and trying to really bring along young players so
that they can presently be good players for you and
continue to develop and you can be in a good
spot in the future. So I feel like if you
look at all six of the rookies we got, we
put them all out there and we've got a chance
to watch them all play and grow, and I think
(07:30):
it's a really exciting class. And I know that we
hit on all six of them, and I feel really
good about it.
Speaker 5 (07:35):
And so we'll just we'll just keep building.
Speaker 8 (07:37):
When the teams out of playoff contention usually goes to
maybe developing younger players and focusing on that instead of
being why is that maybe not a consideration for we've
played all six of our rookies so well in terms
of even just further.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Down the roster.
Speaker 8 (07:53):
To bottom everybody, whether the rookies or not, instead of trying.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
To I think we're actively doing that. I think we've
we've tried to do that all season, and we'll continue
to do it over the next couple of games.
Speaker 7 (08:03):
On Monday, one way he would describe DJ Turner is
very driven, climbing all the time, especially this season. Your
thoughts on DJ, and I know you've talked about his
Pro Bowl potential. Yeah, what are your thoughts on why
he's done so well?
Speaker 12 (08:22):
Well?
Speaker 6 (08:22):
I think again, he's in his third year, so he's
had a chance to learn from two years of experience
of the ups and downs that you deal with in
this profession that you do with playing corner, you know,
and going against all the guys he's got to go against.
And so I've often mentioned that the conversation he and
I had in training camp, you know, coming out of
training camp and he's coming off of an injury before
(08:43):
week one, and his response was just consistent with all
the work that he's really put in over the summer
and so now there's just this extreme consistency there. He's
got a confidence that comes with that. Like I really
you can see when a guy has earned the confidence.
There's a lot of guys that can walk around with
arrogance or brashness because they're talented, but the work ethic
doesn't necessarily match the talent.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
That they have.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
DJ is a guy who's confidence SEMs from the work
he's put in, and so we've all seen it as
players and coaches, and so to see him go out
there and play with the consistency he has, it makes
you really proud of him, because a guy who's just
all right, I'm facing a little bit of adversity. I'm
not starting week one. I was just told I'm not starting.
I think I should be. Didn't say anything about his teammates,
thought that they were very deserving the opportunity they got.
(09:26):
I'm just gonna go work, and that's what he did,
and he got his opportunity and he's made the most
of it. I think he's having a Pro Bowl year,
and so it just I think proud's the first we're in.
Not that I have anything to I don't go out
there coach the corners, that's Chuck, that's him best out
and everything that they're doing. But I am proud just
to know the person and the response I've seen from him.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
That's leadership. Like when you talk about leadership, developing leadership.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
It doesn't always have to be loud and vocal and
all that stuff something like, because it can be a
go out there and I'm just going to do my
job and make sure everyone knows I'm dependable and they
can count on me. And that's that's exactly who DJ
Turner has.
Speaker 5 (09:58):
Been this year. Potential absolutely absolutely. Do you think.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Samana has a shot this week and before?
Speaker 7 (10:07):
Because before he went, you know, had his problems.
Speaker 5 (10:10):
What did you see from him?
Speaker 6 (10:12):
I saw a guy that was fighting through injury, you know.
And and so I think he's just had a tough
go of it this season. And and it's because just
things that have happened to him on the field. And
so I don't want to make any declarations about this
week because we haven't got out there and practice yet.
I want to make sure we see him practice and
he's got the confidence of that, We've got the compasence
of that before we put him back out there. So
(10:33):
again that's completely up in the air really as we
watch him go through the week. But I like he
sits in the front road of the team meetings. Man,
he's he's always on me when I'm up there presenting.
He does a great job taking it all in Jerry's
office is right next to mine.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
You know. I can see the attitude he's got every.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Single day, and so I'm fired up when when we
do get him out there, whether it's this week or not,
for the future that he's got here, because he's a
guy that I'm really high on.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
He seemed pretty active.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
I mean, like in August, I mean yeah, he didn't
have much absolutely seemed to be active before you.
Speaker 6 (11:03):
Heard yeah, and he was healthy, you know, and then
said to fight through the injuries. That's tough to evaluate
any rookie when they're fighting through injuries. We had that
last year with Chris, we had a Mim McKinley. We
had we had some guys that just got dinged up
during the season and they fight through it, just like
Samar has done. And so I look forward to get
him on the field and letting him make an impact
for us because I know what he's healthy, he'll be
able to do that.
Speaker 11 (11:23):
I was thinking about this going back to Miami, and
then you mentioned lessons from twenty nineteen and twenty twenty.
In twenty nineteen in Miami, what did it end up meaning?
The way boyd like fought back to the line of
scrimmage in that one moment when he was hurt and
kind of you hoping to see some similar things down.
Speaker 6 (11:38):
It shows the heart and the character of the guys
we have that they just want to win. You know,
you tune out the outside noise, and you tune out,
you know, anybody making a comment to you about draftic
and none of that's just nonsense.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
We put every second of our livelihood into.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
Winning games and doing everything we can to represent ourselves
the right way. And so these types of games are
big character games. You get a chance to reveal what
we're made of. You know, we know we're not going
to the playoffs, but you still get a chance to
go out there and fight like we did.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
In twenty nineteen.
Speaker 6 (12:04):
And you know, I remember Ifert picking up TV on
triple in and helping them get up, and we cocked
the ball and then we throw a vertigo for touchdown
the next play and.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
All this tape that we still use today.
Speaker 6 (12:16):
Is represented by those guys that started this process for me,
you know, the TVs and the geos of the world
and the cjs and the guys that fought to build
the culture and the foundation that we kept building on
over all these years, and we got the guys. The
guys in the locker room are doing the same thing
right now. It is disappointing where we're at, but we're
still have a foundation that we're going to continue to
build on and so we can go win divisional titles
(12:38):
and conference titles and the Super Bowls in the future.
Speaker 9 (12:41):
Part of you like when you met Joe, Thank goodness
week we got out of Miami losing because we get
Joe at no more, no, no, it's.
Speaker 5 (12:50):
You couldn't look at it like that.
Speaker 6 (12:51):
We again, that's just doing a disservice to the work
we put in every single day. If you say, oh,
you want to go lose a football like, absolutely not
that you know. I don't think people really understand what
the next morning feels like for us when we lose
the game, what the bus ride feels like, what the
plane ride feels like. Well, getting out the next day
and doing whatever you got to do, and trying to
get the guys going again on a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
(13:12):
to get ready to play on Sunday. What it does
your favor, none of that. So we fight every second
to win football games. We don't for one second tolerate
anybody that says we should do this or that and
not focus on winning. So that's what I love when
I have a team meeting this morning and you just
look in their eyes. Everybody's on the same page. Everyone
knows what's at stake here, what's at stakers. We need
(13:34):
to win the games we feel better and so we
can build some momentum for ourselves and then go win
the next one and then do things we got to
do in the off season to keep improving our team.
But that's our only focus right now is finding a
way to go down to Miami, win the game, get
on the bus and the plane with a smile on
our face because it's been too few of those this year.
Speaker 13 (13:53):
Thank You're going back to what you were talking about
with the setup, and you talked about how much you
love the input you get to have, like the scouts
in the setup here, how willing is the organization and
I'll ask this to you too, But since you're a
big part of the draft process is to look at
you guys had a lot of success that you've talked
about with that twenty one and twenty two seasons, but
(14:15):
the last couple of seasons with them all ending and
losing seasons. How willing is everybody to look at the
process and maybe make tweaks and changes to it if needs.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
Yeah, I think for a lot of the reasons everything
was praised in twenty one and twenty two and then
you have down years and it's okay, you need to
change everything. Well, where were those comments when we were
doing it very similarly and we are ever a great year.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
So for us, everybody's always open to evolving.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
I can't speak for everybody, but I know just from
dealing with everybody in this building, everyone wants to win
and do everything it takes to win, and so I
know that better than anybody because I interact with everybody,
and so I feel extreme confidence that we're all on
the same page. All we want to do is win
and bring championships here to Cincinnati, and we'll do whatever
it takes to put it. Specific words on how that's
(15:00):
going to Look, that's all for us behind the scenes
to work through it and make sure we do all that.
But I have absolute confidence that we have the right
people and the right setups to make this happen, because
we've proven it and we'll prove it again.
Speaker 9 (15:11):
You believe ownership in the front office feels the same
way about it.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
I don't want to speak for anybody, and I get
what Mike just said, but I have a great relationship
with them. I believe in them. I don't ever want
to speak for someone when they're speaking about me. That's
that's unfair. I shouldn't do that. But I love the
relationship I have with every in this building. The unique
thing about this is we get the meet so often,
and that's a really good thing because there's no three
(15:36):
weeks of no communication face to face. I'm wondering what
they think about a game, what they think about none
of that. We get a chance to form a relationship
and go through all this stuff and it's.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
The right way to do it.
Speaker 6 (15:47):
And so again I'm excited for to finish out this
season the right way and for the future as well.
Speaker 8 (15:53):
Like Miami made a change at our quarterback looks either
to go Quin yours.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
What's overall, I haven't seen that. I mean, I know
that was a report. I heard Mike McDaniel say that.
So until that, they've got a really good offense. I
think that Mike does a great job with the scheme.
I don't want to call it unique because we we've
seen it over the years with with him at different places.
But he does a really good job being creative and
stressing you in different ways maybe that some other teams
don't in the run game and not afraid to be
(16:19):
very creative with how he does it. And so got
a lot of respect for Mike McDaniel and the job
he does. And I know they they ran into some
circumstances in Pittsburgh and cold Weather and that's that's a
good team. But it's a it's a very difficult offense,
regardless of who the quarterback is. They put a lot
of stressing in the run game. They do a great
job getting guys open with a lot of speed in
(16:40):
the pass game that can finish on exposive plays, and
so it's a very challenging group to go against.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
Drafted a quarterback in a while, even late rounds is
that this year was at consideration and know y'all swopp
through the QB and three a lot this offseason.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
Was it a consideration and maybe see what you could
get the seven?
Speaker 6 (16:56):
We always evaluate, you know, we always evaluate who's out
there and how they fit us, put up against another position,
put up against our quarterback room. And obviously we've we've
done what we've done, Zach, when.
Speaker 14 (17:08):
You I know you're focused obviously just on winning the
game in front of you. But with three games left,
what do you want to see out of guys that
are no maybe outside of the four guys that you
have that when you when you go at the end
of the season started valuing and figure out what you need
to for twenty twenty six, what can guys show in
these last three games to show that they should be
part of what you had part of the plan before
you get figure out what you need to add or
(17:28):
improve on.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
The team to get back to where you continue on
the same trajectory. A lot of these guys are on
you know, I think with any player at the beginning
of their career, guys that have gone on the field
for us have have truly you can truthfully say you've
gotten better every single game, and so just to continue
on with that and all the work that these guys
are put in over of course their careers, but really
starting back in January of getting putting together great offseason,
(17:52):
all the work they put in the summer training camp,
going through this season like it's you don't stop now
just because of the circumstances we're in. So I expect
these guys continue to give their best.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
I know they will. And to your question, what are
young guys?
Speaker 6 (18:04):
You just want to see him continue on the same
trajectory we've seen them on, especially this last couple weeks.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
All right, thank you, all right, there we have at Austin.
It's my favorite one of the year. That's by far.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
I thought that was as much pushback as we've heard
Zach take at a press conference in quite some time.
I don't really know if I agree with Zach that
he said they hit on all six picks this year.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
There's the jury still out on that.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I don't fully believe the relationship with Duke and working
side by side, along with what he had to say
about the scouting department, he did take ownership and said
I'm the one to blame for this, no one else.
I'm the one to blame. He also made mention of
how much he's talking to ownership weekly.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Yeah, and that is a unique thing about this job,
is the money day meetings with ownership. Marvin Lewis has
talked about this over the years. It's something that happens
does not happen across the NFL, and I do think
(19:13):
that that can lead to a very clear understanding of
where you stand within the organization. Sure, and you know
we know this about Mike Brown. He will not mince
his words. He will be very straightforward when talking about
how he feels or what he thinks. I always think
of Andre Smith walking into his office on hard knocks
(19:34):
and Mike Brown basically said, you need to lose some weight,
big boy. And like even the way that he addressed
Trey Hendrickson at Mock Turtle Soup Day this year. Mike
Brown's not afraid to tell you what he thinks. No,
and I do think that's a good thing for a
head coach in the NFL each week, to be able
to have those conversations. I don't understand why Zach would
(19:56):
not confirm his contract status. Yeah, it was weird how
he went around that. I don't understand why what's the
purpose of not confirming that correct that I agree with
that I would love to get an answer is why
(20:17):
can't we know that, Yeah, Trags did some work today. Man, Trags,
you know he's Trags is saying the quiet part out loud.
Drags is ottoman and he has been for a week
couple of weeks. Now.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
We don't get to talk to anyone else's that's Trike's thing, like,
we don't get to hear from anyone else, so you
have to tell us yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
And this is the first time where I felt like
Zach was kind of like, oh, yeah, you know, yeah,
I had enough. I loved it, and I appreciate from
a strictly from a Bengals fan perspective, I appreciate that
Trags push back on that. Yeah, Zach kind of stepped
(21:01):
in it by saying you would have to ask them,
because that throws the alley you for Trags to dunk
and say we don't get to talk to them. Yeah,
And after that, Zach doesn't have anything he can say. Agreed.
It is, you know, unfortunate that Zach has to be
the guy. We would love more transparency from Duke and ownership.
(21:23):
It's not going to happen. Agreed that was enjoyable, loved it.
I might listen to it again as soon as I'm
off work today. We'll take our break. Kelsey asked a
good question too at the end, which is kind of
the question I've been asking the question of the off season.
(21:43):
How are the processes going to change? Yeah? I didn't
like Zach's answer to that either.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yeah, we'll take a break when we come back. Your Talkbacks,
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
It's that time for talkbacks.
Speaker 15 (21:59):
Press microphone and record your message or Austin in tone.
Speaker 16 (22:04):
Please keep it clean and don't be mean, and a sprinkle, sprinkled,
drip drip.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
It's that time for talkbacks.
Speaker 15 (22:13):
It's our favorite part of Sincy three sixty. So Austin, buddy,
play those talkbacks on your screen and please drive out
to sabotage.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
All right, here we go the Wednesday edition your talkbacks,
thanks to Cincy shirts right here on ESPN fifteen thirty
Cincinnati Sports Stations.
Speaker 17 (22:35):
Does your favorite NFL team have an ownership that runs
it like a small business, Well you better hope to
Christ that they have super share. Don't be kindis sure,
don't be pretty sure, don't be a little share you
better be super sure that that.
Speaker 18 (22:53):
I truly can't believe my eyes in that video of
Tony dressed up as the elf he was touching up
public trash can wow.
Speaker 5 (23:04):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
I'm not a germ guy, eh, I mean, I like
to keep things clean.
Speaker 19 (23:09):
I think the Bengals had a great year. They got
their starting safety to agree to take a pay cut,
then they beat Shamar Stewart and his agent and forced
him to take the forfeiture provision and his rookie contract.
Only two members of the Ring of Honor called him
out for being a cheap skate Boomer and Corey Dillon.
And lastly he saved a much bunch of money by
(23:30):
not having to pay someone to remove this note from
the stadium. It was a great year for Mike Brown
and the Bengals.
Speaker 12 (23:40):
Tony quick question.
Speaker 18 (23:42):
I see your boy Jesus back on the team, and
it kind of shows how desperate Wes is to get
this thing going in the right direction, which I understand.
But I just can't see Huggins or Cronin allowing someone
back on the team after all that's happened.
Speaker 12 (24:01):
I mean, what's your opinion?
Speaker 2 (24:04):
I think it's a I think it's a desperate play.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
I don't think that Wes Miller has uh has many
other plays left in the playbook.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
That would be my thought.
Speaker 20 (24:13):
I now present to you the relationship between Bengals fans
and Mike Brown.
Speaker 21 (24:23):
Did you really think about it?
Speaker 22 (24:37):
M Hey, Audie, I heard you yesterday that you really
enjoying your sisty head mask. People don't know what it is.
It's like a you know, something like a ski mask
or whatever that goes over your whole head and covers
your mouth. In fact, I think you should wear it
in in the studio to cover your mouth and I
(24:59):
can stand Henyon, tighten it down to your lips, don't move.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
Wow. Wow, today it's freezing in here.
Speaker 23 (25:08):
Even given the Bengals pathetic history of losing to backup quarterbacks,
if we do lose to Quinn Ewers, the whole thing
needs to be burnt down and restarted.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
That guy is a bum. Wow.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
He did get that Christmas tree to jump off side
the other week.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
You know, Joe Burrow or Zach Taylor was saying coaches
every game like it's his last. If he loses to
Quinn Yours, it might be his life could be.
Speaker 16 (25:29):
What anecdotal evidence is there to suggest Joe Burrow actually
likes playing for Zach Taylor?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Other than Joe not.
Speaker 16 (25:39):
Trashing Zach publicly, we all just assume Joe likes Zach.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
How do we know that? Do you think Joe wants to.
Speaker 16 (25:45):
Play the entirety of his career for Zach Taylor? This
is absurd, by the way, playing Joe these last three
weeks makes no sense whatsoever. Ca you imagine if he
suffers yet another catastrophic injury.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Yeah, that's players want to play and they're paid well
to play.
Speaker 3 (26:07):
Coaches should have the best interest for those players. I
just like you heard Zach talk about it. You heard
Travis Kelsey talk about it, Like, guys, aren't just going
to quit playing football? You cannot operate? Scared? You just can't.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
I get where you're coming from. But that's the reality.
Every time he steps on the field, whether it's week
fifteen or week five.
Speaker 24 (26:32):
It's the Lord. I gotta start bench cut.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Hello Lord?
Speaker 24 (26:35):
Do you like getting Christmas presents wrapped? Do you like
getting Christmas presents in gift bags? Or do you just
like getting gift cards?
Speaker 3 (26:47):
I legit could care less about at my age, I
could care less about gifts that I get. However it's gifted,
I don't care. I thoroughly enjoy the process of giving.
And when I give gifts, I wrapped him. That's not
the question. I would rather unwrap a gift. Okay, it's
a start bench cut. Well, you've really struggled with this
(27:09):
over the last couple of months. Start bench cut. Give
the options. I'll start the wrap, okay, I'll cut the bag,
all right. Or I'll bench the bag and I'll cut
the gift card. Okay, I agree, Put the gift card
in the bag. STA's easy, almost as easy as the answer.
You can start bitch cut true.
Speaker 25 (27:29):
So turning awesome turning. This one's vainly for you. But Austin,
feel free to answer. Instead of start bench cut, we're
gonna do fire Keep, Extend, Zach Taylor, Wes Miller, Scott's Sadderfield.
Oh my gosh, I can't wait to listen.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Oh my gosh, I'll go first, go fire West, Miller, Yeah,
keep Zach Taylor, Extend Scott's Sadderfield. Wow.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
At this point, it's probably fire West. Although I've been
banging the Zach Taylor drums for quite some time I've been.
I've been on the Zach Taylor thing for longer than
I have been on the West.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
So I'll fire Zach. Oh it means you have to
keep her extend West.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I'll keep West because Jessel's back, and who knows how
they play with Jessel, And then I'll extend Sat.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
Good day to be set sevens the wing Wednesday.
Speaker 26 (28:26):
For those who celebrate Tony in Austin, we get some
hilarious antics this Bowl season. We get Mayo getting dumped
on a coach, a pop top getting eaten alive. What
would we have for a Tony Pike three sixty Bowl?
Maybe Austin in a dunk take, maybe those goofy boys
(28:48):
that Halloween for our chierleaders, or maybe something else. What
do you guys think.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
I'd throw Austin in the dunk tank? Yeah? I would
do that. Yeah, we gotta have a lot of water. Hey,
just a couple of questions.
Speaker 27 (29:04):
First off, do you think it's better to put in
the backups and see what you got for next year
and lose out to improve a draft position? I think
if we win less three games, so you can pretty
much say goodbye to Caleb Downs or anybody being a
starter or significant contributor. And also my second question would
(29:25):
be for Tony, do you have any eligibility left that
you could help out during the bowl game.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
I'm out of eligibility. I'm more of one that that
I would rather get the higher draft pick. Are you
one hundred percent out of eligibility?
Speaker 2 (29:41):
For sure? I would.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
I would honestly have to look. I would have to look,
but I think I am.
Speaker 20 (29:47):
Hey, guys, DJ east Side little onto the weather. He's
last couple of days. I'm not sure if it's doing
to missing my daily dose of Tony Pikes sinty three
sixty or if it's the bird flow. The Browns family
has continually flipped the bird to the fans in this city.
And I know he sees with just another sad chapter.
I knew Zach's has way too comfortable in his post game.
He knows he's not going anywhere prom with Zach is
(30:07):
he couldn't coach a bunch of kids open the cookie,
jarn Us, it was already open.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
Wow.
Speaker 20 (30:10):
If conditions aren't perfect the entire game, he finds a
way to lose, coach his way to a win.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
Thanks for the lump of col Mike.
Speaker 28 (30:19):
Hey Austin, Hey Tony Paul from Cleaves here, just wanted
to say that I'm on board with Joe Burrow starting
the last three games of the season, and everybody keeps
looking to the future. But you know, the way I
look at it is he signed that contract. If he's healthy,
he's playing. That's the way you have to look at it.
I mean, he could get hurt outside of football and
ruin his career the same way he could slip on ice.
(30:42):
He could actually cut a finger off making food. So
I mean he signed a contract that said he was
in an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Okay, I mean we're not gonna win the Marconi this year?
Does that mean we just don't work the last three
weeks of the season somewhat argue.
Speaker 29 (30:56):
Hello friends, and welcome to Deep Thoughts with Uncle Ron. Hello,
Wess is a miss, But fear not. The Jisel is back.
Oh and quinn Ewers better fear him. The Bengals defense
is sewers.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
Ooh, Bengals defense is Sewers.
Speaker 30 (31:19):
Yeah, I'm surprised the Dolphins played to a song ago
left over that much money in the first place. You know,
I know they're gonna throw to h and a thousand
times someday. Oh yeah, do you think the Bengals defensive
coordinator and linebackers will be able to figure that out?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
But let's hope, so.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
I'm not confident that they will figure that out. Tua
turned the ball over Tony.
Speaker 12 (31:51):
Austin, He I from out healthy here.
Speaker 31 (31:53):
My toes are finally defrosted some Sunday's game feeling better.
Work has also slowed on for me, so I can
now call in more, leave a talkback.
Speaker 12 (32:03):
Really excited. I miss you'all, Miss Tony, miss Ausmas, the
talk Beckers. You know what, I don't miss my Twitter
or x if you will.
Speaker 31 (32:11):
I really don't use it that much more because all
it is is talk ciity and negativity, and my holiday
season is gonna be better without it.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Highly encourage alligen talk sicity.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
It was nice to see Johnny on Sunday. I hadn't
seen him in a while. It's a toxicity. He's got
that back corner table at the Holy Grail lockdown. Yep, yep.
Speaker 31 (32:33):
And because it's been a minute, I'm a double dip unapologetically.
I used to be the freaking president. I get to
do what I want. Tony and Austin in your family?
What was the food traditions for either Christmas Eve or Christmas?
Did you always have the same meal every year? Did
you always have the same breakfast every year?
Speaker 12 (32:55):
You know? What are the traditions food wise?
Speaker 31 (32:57):
I would love to hear that, and if the other
talk Parkers want.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
To chime in the great question. Uh?
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Growing up, it was always I remember lasagna. And now
the thing I look forward to most on Christmas Day
is my grandma's. She makes like roast beef sandwiches. They're fantastic.
And on Christmas Eve, my in laws do spaghetti and meatballs.
Interesting and it's fantastic, except I found out one year
(33:26):
Austin it wasn't actually meatballs. It was like deer meat venison,
and not through me for a big loop.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
You didn't know that whole time. Nope, because you would
never have eaten it.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
I and then and then manas like see, I told
you it's all in your head because I like this
is good.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Yep. Now you don't eat it anymore? Do you? They
make separate meatballs. Venison is delicious. They make they make
separate meatballs. You are a child and you need some
serious Uh. I hope you donate your brain to science
when it's all said and done, I really do. Uh.
I don't know that we had like traditions. I guess
(34:03):
Christmas morning, my dad would always make pancakes. He makes
the best pancakes. So I think the last couple of
Christmases or whatever, I've been by myself, so I've like
tried to make his pancakes on Christmas Morning. So I
guess that's the only one I can think of.
Speaker 23 (34:19):
Okay, Hey, guys, Steven Montgomery, regarding the defensive end situation,
I would actually offer a sign a three or four
year extension, maybe forty five million, somewhere around the neighborhood
of fifteen per I think he's going to bring a
lot more than ten on the open market if you
look at his pressure win rate, his flexibility of position
on which side he plays on, and the one thing
(34:40):
you know about him is he's a high motor, relentless guy,
and he's come on each year when he's got more opportunities.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Okay, I don't hate that at all.
Speaker 32 (34:50):
Okay, this is DJ you know, just listening to Zach's
conference there, you know he really went his tenures don
the Bengals, which can't come soon enough.
Speaker 33 (35:01):
He really needs to go into politics where you can
just talk and talk and talk, not really say anything
and results don't matter. He is perfectly set up for
that because that is exactly what you get from him.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Marvin was the same way. Yeah, a lot of coaches
are are good politicians.
Speaker 34 (35:18):
Hey, guys, Jeff in India. I mean, that's the best
press conference I've heard in quite some time. And it's
time to turn up the heat on this. Damn guy.
If you've got a contract to twenty twenty seven, then
you're gonna get these type.
Speaker 12 (35:29):
Of questions when you're four and ten.
Speaker 34 (35:33):
It's ridiculous. Good on you, Trags and Rapine and Kelsey
and Ben Baby and Paul and everybody else. Keep it coming,
keep it up, do not stop.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Oo dah. There you go.
Speaker 12 (35:47):
Reds fans, sous.
Speaker 35 (35:49):
There Susan going from Great American Ballpark with a very
exciting two for one announcement for your Cincinnati rat and
Cincinnati Bengals. The Cincinnati Bengals, how fired, Zach Taylor and
Duke Tobin and Duke Tobin and Taylor have signed with
the Cincinnati Reds to play left field a designated hitter
in place. I'm Kyle Schwarter, who, of course the Reds
(36:11):
were unable to sign because they're cheap. For more information,
visit Reds dot com.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Thank you. That would be tough for Duke Tobin if
you've got to talk to the media every day. Yep, yep.
Speaker 27 (36:22):
Haven't we ended the last three or four years on
Wayne streaks of eight, five and seven? You know, wins
the last three years and it never carries over to
next year.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
The momentum never carries over again. He needs to pick
a different answer for that. Yep.
Speaker 27 (36:34):
And he's on double secret probation. That's why he doesn't
have an answer for his contract.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Yeah, let's do it again. I don't know, man. They
turned five last year into seven this year.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
The hottest team down the stretch last year, But yeah,
it worked out this year, So let's do it again, man,
meaningless football.
Speaker 16 (36:50):
I heard Mike in La earlier say that his old
man was Ambi Dexters.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Wow, man, that's awesome.
Speaker 19 (37:00):
I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Well, then you couldn't be ambidextrous. This thing on blue alright?
Very good? A break one segment or two today. I'm
thinking we're gonna do too.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Okay, two quicker segments. Chad Brendle kicks off our number three.
Uh possibly some read and react still in hour number three,
all ahead in a touch? Not a touch? What's the
word I'm thinking of? I don't know what's gonna do
at the end of the show, quick hits, Yeah, but
he's gonna I could be having a stroke on long air. Yeah,
(37:38):
I mean last night were you? What do you? I
don't know what I'm looking for. Okay, he's gonna come
in quickly and talk to us and then leave.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
When is this ad? Quick hits? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
What what word am I looking for at the end
of the show. Yes, he's going to stop by, sure,
stop in. We'll go a stop in. He's gonna touch base,
touch base? Is that what you were going for? He's
gonna touch space with us. We'll take a break mercifully
thanks to since he starts at sincey three sixty on
ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports station.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
This is any in the NATI Grunch You in part
by bod Light and by Oakley Greens on ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals, dove.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Into this a little bit earlier.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
This week as we dive back into Cincy three to
sixty Austin, the week sixteen schedule across the National Football
League should set up to be a very good one,
starting with Tomorrow Night. Does the winner of Ram Seahawks
Austin in your opinion, have the front have the easiest
path to the super Bowl? And I won't say easiest,
(38:48):
but do they have your path to the super Bowl?
Is it one of those two teams?
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Yeah? I think that whoever, whoever wins that, that's who
you think. Whoever is the number one seed in the NFC,
which is probably going to be one of those two teams. Yeah,
I think would be my favorite in the NFC. That
being said, who do you trust more? In that one?
Tomorrow Night?
Speaker 3 (39:13):
Seahawks fantastic defense, but it's Matthew Stafford and Sean mcvay's.
It's essentially a pickham Who do you trust more?
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Seattle? Right now? Really? Yeah, I've had the same philosophy
for years now. Now.
Speaker 3 (39:27):
The Rams did sneak by the Seahawks the first time around.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Yeah, home short week primetime games. Yeah, in the division,
I'm always going to go at the home.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
That was the game in which Sam Darnold threw four
interceptions and they still and it was still a twenty
one to nineteen game. Yeah, but Sean McVay just had
a kid. Oh so there's that potential Dad strength. Sure
that gets brought into the equation now from Thursday to Saturday,
and I'm just going Marquee games here. Packers Bears should
(39:58):
be a do at Soldier Field Sunday. Every Bills game
now is important because of the gap that they made
up on the New England Patriots, and the Patriots have
to travel to Baltimore on Sunday night football. That's a
massive game. Other games, you're you're looking at teams that
are just trying to avoid a bad loss. Chargers against
(40:19):
the Cowboys, who are essentially eliminated, Chiefs Titans. I could
really care less. Buccaneers Panthers. Are we sleeping on this
one at all? Both teams tied in the division game. Yeah,
they played twice down the stretch Buccaneers Panthers Sunday in
the one o'clock window. How about the Jags Broncos. Broncos
(40:42):
obviously riding high, but this Jaguar team Austin, you were
on them early in the season under Liam Cohen. This
is the most confident I think we've seen Trevor Lawrence.
I agree with that Steelers Lions, put up or shut up.
Time for the Detroit Lions, as I mentioned, Patriots Ravens,
and then Monday Night football you get the Niners taking
(41:03):
on Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
It should be a fantastic and fun Week sixteen in
the NFL College football playoff games. The first round also
get underway Friday and Saturday. Big sports weekend. Heads ahead,
we'll finish up our number two next Chad Brenda will
kick off our number three. Since e three to sixty
(41:25):
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station, you've
Speaker 1 (41:27):
Been listening to football in the NATI on ESPN fifteen thirty,
the official home of the Cincinnati Bengals,
