Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tony Pike, Cincy three sixty about Cincinnati from Cincinnati, sponsored
in hard by Penn Station East Coast Subs, hand crept
It hot grilled subs, fresh cut fries and lemonade. It's
all about good taste Penn Station East Coast Subs order
on mine today. This is ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Welcome back to the program.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
It's our number three of three since e three to
sixty thanks to our friends at Penn Station. In this
hour we'll get to some of your phone calls. Five one, three, seven,
four nine, fifteen thirty, we'll check in with Mowegar, who's
out of Oakley Greens today on a beautiful afternoon egg
Man getting set for the uh Moegar Show.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
What do you think of the new intros? Great? Just clean,
but we get that turned around. Nothing happens quickly around here.
That happened that happened quickly.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Yeah, I mean maybe some you know, maybe new imaging
for the station.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, I mean that's been that was that for probably
six or seven years.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
We moved into this new facility, so, uh, maybe some
video elements that we can add at some point. There's
a lot that uh that maybe we can do here
for uh, sorry I didn't laugh for uh for now,
the head ball coach of the twenty first ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.
After a uh resounding win over Oklahoma State on Saturday,

(01:26):
the Bearcats now travel home. They have begun their preparations
for Baylor. Baylor is a football team that can fill
it up offensively, not a great defensive team, but they
can score and have scored with anybody that they've won
up against this year. We'll discuss more of that, but
first here's the head football coach, Scott Saderfield, speaking to
members of the media earlier today.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Yeah, just you know, first of all, going back to
last week, proud of our guys go on the road
in a big twelve to get a win. As always hard,
you know, but I thought our guys were very resilient
in that game, went out and played played hard, played
physical all the way through the end. Thought, you know,
there's a point in time there in the second half
where the game really could have went either way, and
you know, proud of our guys and how we finished
the fourth quarter getting a couple of turnovers including the

(02:09):
pick six, you know, and then you know, just finishing
it off I thought, I thought it was a great
environment as home coming out there at Oklahoma State, and
you know, but really proud of the way that we
finished out that game. And you know, looking forward to
this week, you know, playing Baylor, a very talented team.
Coach Horanda's done a great job with this team. I

(02:30):
think you go back to last year when they won
six in a row to finish the season, and this
year have been in every game, including lost some very
close games as well. Outstanding offense, number one passing offense
in the country, the quarterbacks, an outstanding player. They had
some great talent on the outside with some wide receiver play,

(02:51):
good running back defense, of aggressive defense that has done
a really nice job on that side of the ball
as well. And I think their special teams are very
very solh So, I mean a complete team. It'll take
a great effort out of our guys this week in
practice to get ready to go play this team.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
Yeah, I think only twenty seven snaps for Dante last week?
Is that just load management? Is the ankle still not
all the way back? Is it a little of both?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yeah? I mean probably a little both. Uh, you know,
trying to work him back in and and and obviously
he's not one hundred percent. I think if you see
watch the film you can see that. And but but
obviously having his presence out there and being around our
guys is huge for us, you know. So but but yeah,
I mean I think if you even go back, I mean,
he's not probably not playing more than thirty five snaps anyway.

(03:39):
So normally we rotate a lot of guys up front.
We're going to rotate a lot of linebackers. I mean,
you know, anytime there's a change for offensive personnel, then
we're going to rotate. So so we're always going to
continue to do that. But but hopefully each and every
week as we go through the remainder of this season,
that that hopefully's healing up, you know better and better.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
How much of their success in the run game was
maybe showing stuff that they hadn't put on tape with
a new play caller. Was there anything to that or
did they just they had a really good time.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I think they did a good job with what they did. Offensively,
they were more sound. I think offensually got into some
unbalanced personnel. A couple of plays that got out on
us I thought was a crack replaced where we didn't
replace and they had a forty one yard run on that.
A couple of times we didn't spill the blocker on
the interieror and they popped a couple of runs. So

(04:26):
really a couple of runs we didn't fit right. But
I bet again give them some credit. I thought, I
thought it running back ran hard. Thought the offensive line
blocked well. And then the quarterback, you know, he presents
problems because he's very athletic. Once he got out and
got loose a few times, you know, picked up a
few rushing yards, scored a touchdown, you know. So, but
I do think there were a lot more sound in

(04:46):
their in their game planning for this. This is the
first time that the new play caller was was calling.
I thought you did a good job.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah. Soresby's ability to distribute the ball to different people,
is that something I don't know if you can coach
that or is that just based on game plans each week?
How was how's he done so well there?

Speaker 6 (05:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I mean he's done a really good job with that,
just because it comes back to taking what the defense
gives us. You know, I think in the past I've
had I've had maybe you know, where there's one or
two guys we want to get the ball to, and
so we just keep calling the plays for those one
or two guys. That's not been the case this year.
I feel like we were blessed to have a bunch
of guys that can make plays, and so this year
it's more about calling to play because we like the

(05:26):
way the play looks against that defense, and then not
really caring where the ball goes, like, all right, what
is the defense doing? Who are they covering? Hit the
ball to the to the uncovered guy. And I think
that's why you've been able to see the distribution of
the ball, you know, with a bunch of different guys
making some great catches, a couple of running backs that
can make plays for us, you got it, you know,
the tight ends or making plays, and so I think

(05:49):
it's very difficult to defend that when you have so
many guys that are making plays, and doesn't you know
a great example is Cyrus Allen had one catch last
week and in this past game, you know, he gets
three touchdowns. I mean, so you just never know when
the ball is gonna find you, but when it does,
you have to be prepared and ready to go make
a play Scott.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
With you guys on a six game winning streak, how
much fun are you having coaching this team right now?
Is they just continue to stack wins and now being ineligible?

Speaker 4 (06:17):
Yeah, you know, it goes back to really back to
this summer with these guys. I mean, these guys are
fun to be around. They're you know, just being hanging
out in the building here. We've been saying this all
summer of how we love being around the guys and
they love being around each other, sitting in this you know,
obviously awesome building that we're in here, and then you know,
as you start playing and winning, obviously winning's fun. But

(06:39):
but what's fun about our guys too, is is just
the week, Like the week preparation like like it's fun
of Tuesdays practice and Wednesday's practice and then getting a
Thursday and Friday. Like, it's just fun being around them
because they're they're so intentional in their work of what
they're putting in and the routine. That's that's what's fun.

Speaker 6 (06:55):
You know.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
I think Saturday is just showing them, you know, just
the fruit of all the labor they're putting in throughout the.

Speaker 8 (06:59):
Whole get the win to turnover battle again, how did
it feel to be able to have the ball bounce
you guys as a way you know, earlier in the
season it's a few fumble forced fumbles, what they bounced
right back into the team's you know hand, you know,
just how did it feel to win that back?

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Well, that's outstanding. And to finally get an interception was
was very joyful to say the least. And then you know,
when we do him sitting the sideline, you know, it
felt like you've had a chance to score, which was great.
It's you know, I think a lot of the coaches
have talked about it. Sometimes it's the law of averages.
Sometimes it doesn't go your way, eventually it will and

(07:40):
we finally got some this this past week. But that's
a huge deal. Like to me, it's one of the
number one stats. You got to look at us turnover marks.
It's gonna give you the best opportunity and chance to
win games if you can take care of the football,
and then obviously if you can create some turnovers. And
we've done a good job this year defensively of of
you know, punching out the ball, creating some fumbles, you know,
and and again we got one Saturday with the with

(08:02):
the bad snap and then you know, getting the interception
was huge in the fourth quarter because you know that
that game was was kind of back and forth in
the third and then were able to blow it open
in the fourth quarter because of those those mishaps.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
How much does it help that your pressure rates not
doesn't jump off the page at you, but your sack
rate has been you know, a lot better than the
pressure rate, I guess would indicate how much of a
help has that been. You haven't been able to force
the turnovers at the rate you'd like maybe, but you
have been able to get to the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know we're we're picking and
choosing when we're gonna get to a quarterback. I mean,
there's just a fine line in there where you know,
if you bring pressure, you know they if they get
get out on you, then it's probably going to the touchdown,
you know, so, but if you don't, then you can
keep everything in front of It's just a fine line,
you know. Obviously we'd love to shut them down every
play and get sacks and turnovers. I mean that's what
in everybody you know, I think, But you have to

(08:52):
be calculated in what you're doing. Uh, you know, I
thought Saturday, one time we brought a bunch of pressure.
The quarterback gets out and he launches one about fifty
five yards near and it hitting on the sideline. Was
a big play form great play by the quarterback and receiver.
But you know, we tried to get after him right there.
But other times we've not. We've just rushed three and
then have that linebacker spot and we've been able to

(09:13):
get some pressure that way. So I do think, you know,
we have to continue to mix it up. We do
have to get some pressure on the quarterback. They can't
sit back there all day. I mean, these guys were playing,
especially the next five quarterbacks we're playing, are really good,
you know, as we finish out this season. So there'll
be a big test for us this week playing this offense.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
How much different is it going you face the last
two quarterbacks or looking to get out of the pocket scramble.
Baylor's not really looking to get out of the pocket
and run around. They're looking to push the thing down
the field and make plays over the top of you.
How much different for your defense is that during the week?

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's a difference for sure.
You know, Central Florida's guy could really run, you know,
and then of course last week this guy could run
as well. So yeah, I mean this quarterback at Bader's
looking to throw the ball down the field. They do
get rid of the ball pretty quick. They have some
really good weapons on the outside. So yes, you got
to defend it a little bit different, I think, you know,

(10:07):
so defensively, you know, you don't have to worry about
the quarterback taking off and running and getting yards from you.
But there's different things that we have to worry about,
you know, the accuracy that he has, the strong arm
that he has the ability to throw the ball down
the field in tight windows, you know where maybe the
last two that couldn't do that. So there's just some
differences that you're gonna have to defend more so than

(10:28):
the q run.

Speaker 8 (10:34):
Baylor's you know, they score a lot of points, there's
no no qualms about it, but they give up a
lot of points.

Speaker 9 (10:41):
You know.

Speaker 8 (10:42):
I see their their run defenses, they normally give up
close to two hundred yards. Like, how do you with
you guys's Lyne, how do you kind of look at
that and just say, hey, you know, Saturday, we can
probably take advantage of that.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yeah, I mean, you know, I'm looking at the film
and I see watching their defense, and I think the
defense is very good. I'm trying to find the yards
that they're giving up because you start watching these cut
ups and it's like they're not really giving up a lot.
Doesn't look like to me, I think they're very sound.
I think there their d line gets after. Think number
zero is a really good player. I think number eleven

(11:15):
there's an outstanding linebacker, all big twelve linebacker. They're athletic
in the back end, you know. But you're right, I
mean they they have given up some points, you know,
but but they're in every game. I mean they're they're
literally in every game. Like last week, You're watching that
game and it was three minutes to go, and every
down twenty one, I'm thinking, oh, this game is over.
Well TCU fumbles, they pick it up and run it in,

(11:36):
they get an on side. I mean, they're really right
back in the game. It's incredible. So, you know, a
league's not never good enough. I don't think to say
against against this team. The way they can move the ball,
the way they can score, you know, very scary team
for sure, Scott.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
When you look at your team, does it look like
to you with the expectations coming in season from the
outside maybe not being as high as what you guys
have been performing at. Is this team playing with a
chip on their shoulder? Are they just playing for each
other and seeing, let's see how good we can be.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Yeah, I think they're absolutely playing a chip on their
shoulder for sure. I think each and every time we
go out on the practice field or game field, we
got something to prove. And I think that's the way
they're preparing and that's what they're trying to do in
the games, you know, trying to prove something. And I
think whenever anytime you have that mentality, then you're going
to give yourself a chance. And I really so we

(12:32):
talk about this every week and like two we're like
numb talking about how it's all about our process. It's
all about how we prepare, It's how we take care
of our bodies throughout the week. It's about Tuesdays practices
like game game day for us today, you know, so
so there stolen things. I think it's this team has
done a great job of the preparation throughout the week,
which is showing up on game.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Day last year.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
All right, that is most of Scott's ciderfield. Speaking to
members of media earlier this afternoon, how about that Austin
Baylor number one passing offense in the country.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
You could have given me a ton of guesses, guest Baylor.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Would not have guessed Baylor coming into Cincinnati four and three.
They lost to Auburn, They lost to Arizona State twenty
seven to twenty four, and then a forty two to
thirty six loss at TCU. Their wins thirty five, thirty
four over Kansas State, forty five, twenty seven over Oklahoma
State at the time seventeenth ranked SMU. They beat them
forty eight to forty five, So they are equipped to

(13:29):
win in a shootout. UC's defense is going to have
to be better than what they have been in recent weeks.
But the one resounding thing I take from this team,
and I talked about it a little bit on Saturday
with Dan. Every team to start the year they have
goals to win a championship, conference championship. Now everyone says it,
it's different when you can see a team start to

(13:51):
believe it and watching how you see and the players talk,
watching how they prepare, watching how they play, like, I
genuinely feel like this is a team that thinks they
can go win the Big twelve championship, and that confidence
puts them at a level to where they can go
and compete week in and week out, and I view

(14:12):
them as doing that. I genuinely think each game they play,
they have a great chance to go win it. That
starts with Saturday, four o'clock Nippers Stadium against Baylor.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Take a break. I look forward to your comprehensive breakdown
of the three three five defense tomorrow. Yep, I'm ready
for that. I know Tyson Vite is a fan of
the show. Love Coach Fight.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Don't be afraid to you know, you don't be afraid
to be critical. I'll say one teaser about the three
three five. Okay, it's a lot easier to be successful
with the three three five when Dante Corleon's that knows,
when Dante Corleone is not there, makes up three three
five a little bit more vulnerable, little more barbecue chicken,
little barbic chicken. We'll talk more about that tomorrow. For

(14:56):
the first time today, we'll open up the phone line
five three fifteen thirty. We'll get your calls next on
the Home of the Bengals, ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
Now sixty is back on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Welcome back sincey three sixty moving ahead hour number three
on a Tuesday. Thanks for our friends at Penn Station.
You just heard from Scott Saderfield. I believe Austin. Tomorrow
we get to hear from Zach Taylor. That's right, Zach
Taylor Weekly press Conference one o'clock tomorrow. We'll hear from
Zach Taylor. Now let's hear from you for the first

(15:35):
time this afternoon.

Speaker 6 (15:35):
What's going on, Mike, Hey, fellas, little new format there, eh,
changing it up a little bit, Yes, sir, you're doing
your it's more like mo so Now what's it to
the end? That's what it is? Hey, You know you
were talking about anyway, You got a lot of heartwarming

(15:57):
support calls there today. Now, yeah, let's just don't let's
just don't let those hat sizes get any bigger.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Okay, you can't get any bigger on this one. Say,
Tony's got a huge melon.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
I never thought of it that big. Well, I was frowning,
but maybe you did. Oh it's it's actually you're metaphorically speaking. Okay,
here we go. So you were talking about Burrow and
Placo talking on the sideline, and I can understand that
because Joe Burrow is going to tell him the idiosyncrasies

(16:32):
of this offense, you know, all that with with the
receivers helping him figure out options and what have you.
But let's face it, Joe Blacko could give uh, Joe
Burrow a lesson on playing quarterback because he's been doing
it twice as long.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
I mean, he's seen Yeah, he's he's seen stuff because
of the time he's been in the league that that
few other quarterbacks have seen. So I made I made
the case yesterday with me if I'm the Bengals, depending
on regardless of what happens going forward, if Joe Flacco
is interested in playing football or being around football next year,
I could think of no better player to slide in

(17:11):
as a backup role than having Joe Flacco in Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
If it were behind Joe.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
Burrow, Oh that would be awesome. And if Joe keeps
you performing, Joe Flacco, this is getting hard Burrow and Flaco,
Jojo if Blato keeps going, It's not like Joe Burrow
won't be able to get a job back, right.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, Yeah, it's never It's never going to get to
that point. But what it does do, if Flacco can
perform the way that people are hoping, it would give
a little bit more of an indication or more of
a push to see, Okay, can Burrow really get back
this year? Because when Browning was in there, it was
I wouldn't even worry about Joe coming back this year.
Get to the end of the season if they can

(17:53):
replicate what they were able to do on Thursday. All
of a sudden, the conversation turns to, Okay, is there
a legit possibility that Joe comes back? And if so,
what can that look like with with where the team stands.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
It all depends on that running game. As you guys
stress all the time, the running game and the defense.
You know, you said you're not quite sold on Sam Darnold,
but I'll tell you right now, I'd take him over
Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
He's shown more consistency to be honest and love. I
just I hate how Darnold finished the year last year
because he had so much going and then he just
struggled down the stretch in those big games. But I
think he's he's surrounded by a good spot in Sya.
Out of they got a good defense. I like the coach,
and how can you not like what you have in
Jackson Smith.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
And Jigba.

Speaker 6 (18:41):
And the way did Chiefs look? Now?

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Good luck rest Chiefs, Chiefs now most said it yesterday.
It felt like the Chiefs opened the door for others
to kind of kick it down, and no one kicked
it down.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
And now the Chiefs are back.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
The boy, are they ever back? And I'm looking at
a rams sheet super Bowl. I think that's what it
might end up being. I hope to hope. So anyway,
can I talk a little baseball playoffs? Do you mind? Sure? Okay,
this Dodger pitching staff, as I told you, they finally
got healthy, and that little small ball that Toronto plays

(19:18):
is really fun and it's and they score runs. They
do a good job. They Guerrero's the power hitter for real.
He's been on such a blistering pace. I don't see
that continuing at four forty two or whatever they're always doing.
But the Dodger starters have a one point four oh
e er after the first ten playoff games, and Tasaki,

(19:45):
who's normally a starter right as the closer, now his
RA through those first ten games is one point twenty nine.
So good good luck Toronto hitting this team. And uh
and I Toronto's yeah, it's okay, it's sue to average.
It's about it. So what do you guys think about

(20:05):
this upcoming World Series.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
I Toronto has been the best hitting team average wise
in the playoffs. They were also the best hitting team
throughout the regular season in Major League Baseball. They hit
it two sixty five. Dodgers weren't far behind it at
two fifty three. It's it is the home runs, and
there is a significant gap between what Toronto was able
to do one hundred and ninety one, which isn't anything

(20:28):
to scoff at. That's eleventh in Major League Baseball. But
the Dodgers, they just changed the game with the home
run ball. I think I think an interesting factor in
this series coming up. Bobashett has been out with the
knee injury. If Bobaschet can get out and be anything
what he was during the regular season, I think it
makes that line up a lot tougher. But again, the
star power for me still resides on the Dodgers side,

(20:50):
and I would I would lean Dodgers in this series.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Me, it's like, can Vladdie keep up with showhey? Because
show Hae is gonna do some crazy stuff. He's going
to hit some homers. He's the best player on planet Earth.
Can Vladdie match his star power with some big moments
and some big hits and some big home runs for
Toronto as well? So for me, I'm just most excited
to see those two guys the stars and see them

(21:15):
go ahead to head both especially when Haes on the
mountain two.

Speaker 10 (21:19):
You got it.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
That's That's just what I was gonna say. The difference
between Joy and everybody is he can pitch as good
as anybody. He could win a cy Young if he
was just a pitcher. I'm sure of it. I just
hope it's a good series. I hope it goes seven
games so we get more and more baseball and can
I can I real quick go over the rest of

(21:40):
the Bengals schedule with you? You got another minute?

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Yeah, we got a minute.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
Hell no, I don't know where I put my phone.
I hit it down in my phone. Well you probably
have it there.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Jets, Bears, Steelers are the next three.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
Yeah, okay, I got them beaten the Jets, but the
Jets saying no pushover like Austin was mentioning, I got
him losing to the Bears. The Bears I think are
on an uptick and they are dangerous, and they've got
seven or eight guys who may be all pros this year.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
So four and five at the bye and then at
Pittsburgh home against New England at Baltimore.

Speaker 6 (22:19):
I don't got him beating the Patriots if they keep
on this track they're going, and if if their quarterback
keeps playing the way he is, that's kind of a
tough game. Yeah it is at home though, right it is,
So that's a blessing. And then we got to play
Baltimore twice. But what to make of Baltimore?

Speaker 10 (22:38):
Do you?

Speaker 6 (22:39):
Everybody keeps saying they're gonna come on Tony, but in Austin,
but I don't just don't see it.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
Well, this weekend. You'll learn a lot this weekend because
they play the Bears. So something's got to give. The
Bears have won four in a row. Baltimore is skidding.
I think we get to see how legitimate the Bears
are and if the Ravens have any fight left in
him on Sunday.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
Yeah, is Lamar coming back this week?

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Unclear? He didn't practice yesterday apparently, so uh that doesn't
mean that much though, because they're coming off of bye week.
But it's unclear.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Still was and No, I think Dolphins, Cardinals, Brown's down
the stretch. Arizona has shown flashes, but they just don't
make the plays necessary to win big games. Although they've
been in a lot of them. I still think they can.
They can win those three down the stretch if they're
in a position for meaningful football.

Speaker 6 (23:29):
Yeah, let's hope so, but Arizona does were any of
those last year? That's the one that worries me most. Anyway, thanks.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Sir, have a good one. One more here? What's up?
JT hey Man?

Speaker 11 (23:44):
This time last week I was going to Tony Pike
anonymous meetings and my doctor was trying to wean me
off Tony Pike. And this week it's like the bar is.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
Open, bar and I'm here for it.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Man, let's go. Let's go.

Speaker 6 (24:03):
Question.

Speaker 11 (24:04):
Yes, guys, hypothetically, if Joe Flacco is playing elite quarterback
and I know this is kind of out there, but
indulge me. If the Bengals are eleven and three and
Joe Flacco is playing an elite quarterback position, Joe Burrow

(24:25):
is healthy, who we play in that circumstance a week fifteen?

Speaker 2 (24:34):
Joe Burrow? Yeah, Joe Burrow. Still it would still be
Joe Burrow.

Speaker 6 (24:39):
Great.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
I like to deciice of this. Yep, right to have
you back, Tony, Thank you JT. So it could be
tough to be eleven and three when you already got
four losses. But yeah, Joe Burrow is I think the
best quarterback in the NFL and makes it to five
million dollars and just last year, let the NFL in
yours and touchdown passes.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Uh, for what it's worth. Let us not forget you
mentioned the Bear and the Ravens. Any guess what thats
spread is this weekend in Baltimore job Bears. I'm gonna
say it's in Baltimore. Yes, I'm gonna say Chicago two
and a half Baltimore minus six and a half. I
don't get that people still love the Ravens. That's disrespectful

(25:18):
to the Chicago Bears.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
It is six and a half, is the line. It
is disrespectful to the Chicago Bears, who have won four
straight games. Now. They've played the Saints and Cowboys and
Raiders among three of those. But still I don't understand

(25:40):
six and a half. Chicago is fourteenth in the NFL
and passing yards per game, They're tenth in the NFL
in scoring offense, they're eighth in the NFL and rushing
yards per game, and their defense is not great. They're
giving up twenty five a game. That's twenty fifth in
the NFL. That's not a bad football team, and Baltimore

(26:00):
is worse. So riddle me this, batman. Any guess what
the current line is for Bears Bengals the following week.
I'm going to say, keep in mind, Baltimore is six
and a half point favorite at home. I'm going to
say Bengals three and a half. Bengals plus one and
a half. Okay, so a slight home dog. As I said,

(26:23):
tells you how they think about the Bengals exactly. We'll
take a break, we'll come back.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
We've got plenty more still to go between now and
three o'clock on this the Home of the Bengals, ESPN
fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports station.

Speaker 12 (26:35):
With Dve Lapham's enthrinement into the Bengals Ring of Honor,
we pay tribute to the Life of lap presented by Skyline.

Speaker 10 (26:43):
Feeling good keeps Skyline Time.

Speaker 13 (26:45):
Now Here's Dan and d lap Here, the starting left
guard in the bengals first Super Bowl appearance, describe running
out of the tunnel to face the forty nine ers
that day in Detroit.

Speaker 12 (26:56):
Man, I don't think my feet at the ground one time. Really,
it was so watching a surreal experience. I mean, put
me on cloud nine. I was definitely on cloud nine,
maybe ninety nine. It was amazing. Thing I remember most
about that year, not that family wasn't a big part
of the football, in playing football, they obviously really were

(27:17):
excited about watching me play at whatever level it was
high school, college, or NFL. But to play in the
Super Bowl. And I remember my grandfather saying, I cannot believe.
And I'm watching a grandson of mine play in the
Super Bowl in the National Football League?

Speaker 4 (27:31):
What is going on?

Speaker 10 (27:33):
For more on the Life of lap keep it here
on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
The official home of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 9 (27:41):
Three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
Welcome back since he three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station, Thanks to Penn Station. Thank you for listening.
Fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. It is already Austin week
eight in the NFL season. How does that make you
feel sad? Is it going by too fast?

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I wouldn't say that, because I think I've done a
good job of enjoying it, soaking it in. Yeah, I
really do. I like to soak it all in.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Do you soak in every moment of football? Are you
Tuesday and Thursday night? Are you tuned in to the
the uh the International Games at nine am?

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Well I couldn't this past weekend I was in I
was in Columbus at the Columbus Marathon, but I was
following along on my phone. Sunday boycotted the International Series
games just because they kind of pissed me off. Okay, yeah, no,
I soak it all in.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
We touched on this yesterday. Asked Mo about it yesterday
as well. Are you concerned with how the NFL is
going about scheduling games?

Speaker 6 (28:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Are they going to get in their own way?

Speaker 6 (28:55):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (28:56):
I talked about this. Uh, it just the Sunday slate
wasn't great. It just wasn't a great slate of games. Yeah,
the way I view it is you're pushing everybody towards
these streaming platforms that you have, whether that be NFL
Plus or Paramount Plus or Sunday Ticket or YouTube TV

(29:17):
or whatever it is. And so people will do that
and they get any game anytime, and that's cool, and
that's great, and that's how I watch it. I love
to watch Red Zone when I'm not watching the Bengals specifically,
But there are a ton of people that watch the
game on TV with the regular package, and because there

(29:37):
are fewer games, there are fewer options for them outside
of their local team whenever their local team may not
be playing or is playing at a different time that
they don't really want to watch or have the you know,
the not interesting games, and so you're watering. You're making
that product, that version of your product, less enjoyable to

(30:00):
the very common fan. And then when you think about
your media partners and your whether it's YouTube or Prime
or whomever, like if if you're making so many different games,
two games on ESPN, two games in London, whatever, like
it makes it waters down that product too, because red zone,

(30:20):
I'm getting less games, yep, and I don't like that.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
This week no international game, Thursday Night football, I think
an interesting one.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
Who do we think the Chargers are? I have no idea.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
I thought for a while ahead of schedule, I think
they're hurt. I thought contending injuries have decimated them. Are
the four and three Panthers a thread at all to
the Bills?

Speaker 2 (30:45):
No, I don't think I think the Bills are a
thread to the Bills. By the way, in that Thursday
night game, Kevin O'Connell said, Carson Wentz will start. Oh,
Max Brosmer will be the backup. JJ McCarthy went through
a workout. Not quite there yet. I don't think he's
gonna be quite there for a while.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Oh boy, Patriots, Browns Eagles Giants seven and a half.
Do the Giants like rally after that meltdown or do
they go in the other direction? Is this like a
get right game for the Eagles?

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Yeah, I don't know. If i'd say that, I don't
know they'd say it's a get right game. I mean,
I think you have to pay a little bit more
attention to the to the Giants. I figured the Giants
coming a little bit angry. Okay, based off the way
things happened Bears Ravens. We talked about that one already.
Is there a franchise Austin in the NFL heading more
in the wrong direction than the Houston Texans? They were

(31:37):
the darlings just a few years ago. They are.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Team like that, that team that was so close that
felt like they were on the cusp and now just
moving in the wrong direction.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
I think Tennessee is moving in the wrong direction. I
think Miami is moving in the right the wrong direction.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
Were they at the level of Texans where I mean
that the hype around Stroud, the hype around that team
and four.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
Still can't believe they what they did with their coaching
staff and their offensive line after that was just stupid moves.
But that guy, what's that guy's name who runs that
joint down there, who's a GM Nick Cassario, one of
those former Patriot guys. Have you noticed the former Patriots
are everywhere? Yep, television analyst rolls of Patriots all over
the place. Anyways, that guy thinks he's the smartest person

(32:23):
in football. And see what happens. CJ. Stroud also when
he did that thing to Caleb Williams. Yeah, didn't look good.
Changed him. I also have seen the screenshot of c J.
Stroud's Instagram story from last year going around or he
listed the top five quarterbacks in the NFL. Yeah, he
put himself number three. Yep. Not great. Their siege.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
You get the Bucks in the Saints, you get the
Cowboys and the Broncos, which I actually think is an
interesting one, Titans and Colts. That is a fourteen and
a half point spread on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium,
Sunday Night Football Packers Steelers.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Rogers going up against the Packers. How about this? Two
stats for you on this game. The Packers have not
beaten the Steelers in Pittsburgh since Bart Starr was the quarterback. Wow,
how about that? And Steelers are wearing their throwback uniforms
which feature a yellow helmet. It'll be the first time

(33:24):
since I don't know, maybe the sixties. It would be
a long long time. I don't remember the exact date
that there has been a dual yellow helmet matchup man
between those two teams. I think back it's like the
Super Bowl or something a long time ago. These are
the little things that I care about. Jayden, Dan talked

(33:45):
about soaking it all in.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Yeah, there it is right there, Jayde and Daniel's status
for Monday night football is uncertain. According to Dan Quinn.
Right now, they're a ten and a half point dog
against the Chiefs. Disappointed with how the Commanders have started
their season, Yeah, disappointed, but I wouldn't say surprised. Injuries
have been a part of their downfall as well. But
this just feels like a game the Chiefs win, and

(34:08):
all of a sudden, here we are again talking about
the Chiefs of the team to be.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
So the one o'clock slate Sunday, Miami, Atlanta, Cleveland, New England, Okay,
that might actually be a good contest, and there's some
familiarity there with Mike Vrabel and that defense Giants Eagles.
I think those teams are both interesting. Buffalo, Carolina, don't care, Chicago, Baltimore,
San Francisco, Houston. Feels like it's going to be the

(34:34):
exact same game that Houston just played last night. Yep.
Four o'clock slate Tampa, New Orleans, No thank you, Dallas, Denver, Okay, Tennessee, Indy,
no thank you. And that's it. Yeah, only three in
the four o'clock windows because there are six teams on
a bye and there's a Thursday and Monday game. But

(34:54):
I think it's all gonna be worth it. With green
Bay and Pittsburgh on Sunday night, A big good one.
Lowest ticket available this weekend, have you seen it? It's
got to be Colts Titans. They're the second lowest. Fifty
one dollars tickets as low as twenty six dollars to
get you in to see Tampa and New Orleans at
the Dome.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
Wow, people ain't gonna leave Bourbon Street to go in
there for that. You wouldn't think get probably one or
two grenades?

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Oh I lied?

Speaker 6 (35:19):
Huh?

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Tomorrow Thursday night game twenty four dollars Vikings at Chargers.
That's see Chargers.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Chargers in La'd sell a ticket off their life depending
on it.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
Would you guess the most expensive ticket?

Speaker 6 (35:32):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Based on what we just talked about, it's got to
be Packers Steelers Incorrect, it would be Giants at Eagles
two and sixty eight dollars.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
No, Cowboys Broncos three eleven, three eleven, Oh my goow,
I'm bad at numbers to go see the Cowboys. Cowboys
in AFC city doesn't have it believable. Bengals tickets are
a little expensive.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
It will be eighty bucks. Seventy bucks now, this says
eighty four cast. I looked it was like ninety. Well
that ended up going to the game. I kind of
want to go. I haven't been to a game and Cincinnati.
We'll wrap it up. We don't get Moleger today.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Most busier in a one armed wallpaper hanger. Most busy,
but he is going to be at Oakley Greens. We'll
wrap things up with quick hits next on the Home

From the Clements Heating and Air Temps Star Weather Center,
here's your forecast. This report is sponsored by Progressive Insurance.

Speaker 9 (36:34):
Since he three sixty continues on ESPN fifteen thirty, Cincinnati's

Speaker 10 (36:42):
Since the three sixty quick hits on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Was looking for more, can't find him. He's not available today. Oh,
most setting up. Actually, we will be able to find him. Yeah,
he's just not right now, just not there yet, and
he's not ready to go extra few minutes. There's a
couple of things going on. The big important people in
the National Football League hide with the media today, people
like Jeff Miller, who's an injury guy. What about NFL

(37:09):
executive Don Aponte, What about Troy Vincent? Troy Troy Vincent
said that there hasn't been a lot of internal discussion
in the NFL about the Tush push, but officials continue
to say it's hard to officiate. You see, Minnesota just
laid down. I did see that. I thought that was interesting.

(37:31):
In the NFL has also talked apparently about playing surfaces okay,
and that there's not a significant difference in injury between
grass and turf. Now, Albert Breer said that a veteran
reporter once told him that numbers are like hostages. You

(37:51):
can make them say whatever you want. Oh, so that's
something to keep an eye out on if that's true.
So okay. The NFL injury guy Jeff Miller said they've
had two concussions and no ACL injuries on kick returns
this year, and the concussion rate is much lower than
they expected.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Been a talkbacker today that threw out the Cincinnati sports
parlay over the weekend, and I answered that I would
be most apprehensive just because I know what the rivalry
is in FC Cincinnati against Columbus.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
How would you have answered most apprehensive?

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Which of these three Bearcats, Baylor, Bengals, Jets, FC Cincinnati
and Columbus.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
I would have the most confidence in FC Cincinnati. Now
I would have it would go f C Cincinnati most
confident and then Bearcats. But I do you know that
offense and the Bearcat defense. Yes, that worries me. It's
a little bit fair. And then I have the least
confidence in the Bengals. Okay, that's fair because they have

(39:00):
not earned my confidence yet this year. I'm thrilled with
what happened Thursday, but they haven't earned my confidence yet. This,
yep makes that SpongeBob. Yeah, I think I'm picking up
what you're putting down. Do you know who Justin Vive is? No,
who's he? That's all right? Who is he?

Speaker 6 (39:19):
He's like?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
These are one of the most fascinating people in the
history of sports. I think Justin Vive Justin Vive has
played for the Cyclones for like twenty years. Oh is
he back? Yeah, he's coming back this year. Oh heck, yeah, dude,
he's Kelly Cup champ. Let's get him on the show.
He won the Kelly Cup with the Fort Wayne Commons.
He left during the COVID year smart to go play

(39:41):
in Fort Wayne. I mean, this dude is who played
at Miami of Ohio and the first first year with
the Cyclones was twenty eleven to twenty twelve, and he's
had some other stops, but he came back here twelve
to thirteen, and then sixteen to seventeen, and then seventeen
to eighteen and pretty much here ever since. Okay, it

(40:03):
just keeps playing. Okay, he like owns every record in
the history of the franchise. Let me ask you one
college football question.

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Shut out to Justin Vibe. Shout out to Justin Man.
Love to have you on the show sometime. Based on
the college football rankings and where things are at in
the standings right now, this is what it would look
like if the twelve team playoff were to happen tomorrow. Okay,
Ohio State would be your one seed. Sure they would
await the winner of Oklahoma and Oregon. All right, that's
the eight nine game. Indiana would be the two seed.

(40:32):
Indiana would await the winner of number ten Georgia Tech
Verse number seven Old Miss Okay. Number three would be Alabama.
They would wait the winner of Big twelve Champion BYU
and the Miami Hurricanes okay, and then the fourth ranked
team would be Texas A and M. They would await
the winner of South Florida and Georgia.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
Nice. What does that twelve team playoff field do for you?
It doesn't do anything, doesn't mean anything. I honestly in
that field, shout out to Alex golesh.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
In that field. I don't know who the teams that
could give Ohio State a run are. I really don't
and I'd like to find a way, maybe b YU.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
What about the Bearcats? What do you think if Ohio
State played uc tomorrow? What would the spread be? Oh spread?

Speaker 3 (41:26):
I don't think Patricia would have an inkling of an
idea how to stop Soaresby Who's right now from a
PFF standpoint, ranked higher than Julian saying just sure, sure,
you're just saying ten and a half. Buckeye's minus ten
and a half. All right, I think that'd be fair
the way I said, but it's a neutral site. Flip
a coin.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Tomorrow on the show, we'll have Zach Taylor at one
pm with his weekly Wednesday press conference, and at two
pm talking Bearcats are good friend Keegan nickoson my second favorite, Nicholson.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
That's right, thanks for listening, Thanks for joining along. Mulliger
