(00:53):
twenty five. Okay, online, in app or in store, doesn't
even have to be after a Bengals win. It just
makes it even better after a Bengals win. But we
think our friends at Penn State right now, I got
I'm just busy. There's so much going on with the
show and what we got going on. Speaking of what
we have going on, let's do an exercise here. And

(01:16):
touched on this a little bit yesterday, and I wanted
to bring it back here the twenty twenty three draft
class because Duke Tobin and I think justifiably so, has
taken a lot of criticism. The twenty twenty three draft
class looks better as this season has gone on. The
Bengals in twenty twenty three, with their first round selection,

(01:36):
took Miles Murphy with the twenty eighth pick in the
NFL Draft. Now we are already having the conversation about
Miles Murphy going into next year Austin, But as of
right now, Miles Murphy has a place on this defense.
Would you agree? Yes? In the second round of that
same draft, the Bengals took dj Turner. Dj Turner is

(02:00):
playing at an All Pro or a Pro Bowl level.
Pretty good selection. With their third round pick, they took
Jordan Battle. And this is kind of where I'm a
little dicey. Often, is Jordan Battle good? Would Jordan Battle
be better if he played next to a competent safety?

(02:20):
Or is Jordan Battle kind of he is who he
is at this point? Like, is Jordan Battle guy you're
in the future, investing in or or moving on from
as part of this defense.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
I think Jordan Battle is fine, and I think Jordan
Battle has a place on this team next year. And
I think it's fair to say that when he has
a better player next to him, he plays better. Yeah,
much like we saw with Ted Kerris this year. He
had better guys on his left and right and he
played better and the offensive line played better. And go

(02:51):
back to his rookie season, Jordan Battle in twenty twenty three.
He started seven games and he had he was like
the highest rated PFF rookie defa in all of football, right,
and you're thinking, Okay, the Bengals have found something here. Well,
in twenty twenty three, Von Bell was still pretty good
and it felt like that safety position was still something

(03:14):
that was a strength of the team.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
And since then it just hasn't been. Later in that draft,
and I'll revisit the mid round selection they did take
dj Ivy in the seventh round. Not to talk to
him yesterday, he's got a spot next year. But the
picks for me that are interesting andre Yoshi Vash in
the sixth round and Chase Brown they got in the
fifth round. Now, one could make the case Austin to

(03:37):
try to get to the table early with DJ Turner
and get him inked up because I think he's that
good of a player. The other player in this is
Chase Brown, and it's why we kind of I brought
it up a little bit with Joe Daneman and I
wanted to get your take as well. I talked with
Mo about it yesterday. Chase Brown was a fifth round pick.

(03:57):
Bengals gave it an opportunity. He knows the system in Cincinnati.
He's playing around a very talented skill group, which gives
him more advantageous opportunities. In my opinion, the offensive line
is getting better and he is flourishing into a very
good running back in the National Football League. And again

(04:20):
you got him in the fifth round. Is Chase Brown
the type of player? And I feel like we see
this when we talk about the elite organizations in the NFL.
One of the constants I feel like we always talk
about is they draft well and then they sign those
draft picks and extend them and they don't always wait
until you have to re sign that draft pick. A

(04:41):
lot of these teams that are at the elite level,
when we talk about organizations in front offices Austin, they
get out ahead of these situations. And one would say, well,
why would Chase Brown sign early. Well for Chase Brown,
maybe take less money, but you have more security. Now,
running back is a dangerous position. You go into a
year and and kind of let things ride and you

(05:01):
go through an injury and you lose yourself a lot
of money. Is Chase Brown Austin the perfect example of
a player for this organization to not wait until the
deal is up, but to start having these conversations now,
get an extension done, get that one in your back pocket,
and then move on. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I mean it seems to me like it's pretty simple,
like this is what it's supposed to look like. You
draft a player that can be a part of your team.
I think the last couple of weeks should be indicative
to both Chase Brown and the Bengals about what this
relationship can be and what the success can look like

(05:41):
for both sides here. I think Chase Brown perfectly fits
the role that Zach Taylor wants him to be in
in his offense. I think he's gotten better every year,
especially at pass protection, like he's done everything that they've
wanted him to do, and the scrimmage yards and anytime
you're in the same conversation as James Brooks and Bengals Street.
That's a really good thing. Sure, and so as far

(06:03):
as I'm concerned, Yeah, like this is exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
You don't have to wait, get it done early, and
it gives him security, it gives you security, and it's
another piece that you know and you don't have to
worry about. Okay, do we have to address running back
next year? When get it done? Make it easy, get
to the table now. It's the type of things again
that I think the upper tier organizations take care of.

(06:28):
Andre Yoshi vas is an interesting one as well. Fan favor,
a lot of people like him. I think he had
a really positive game last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
He's an interesting one going forward because you got him
in the sixth round, Austin, I know you have another
year with him, are you do you expect that there's
more that you can get from Yoshi vas or at

(06:49):
this point? Do you know what it is? And you
maybe got to start planning on if you want to
upgrade wide receiver three going forward.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
I feel like we've reached the ceiling with him. I
hope that's not the case, but that's kind of what
it seems like to me. And solid but not play Yeah.
So for that reason, it's like I kind of feel
the same way about Yoshi that I feel about Barrett Carter,
which is we can't be at training camp talking about
how this guy is going to be a starter, like
you just can't. I haven't seen enough to feel like

(07:18):
he's gonna be that guy. And if he is, then
I would hope you've reinvested in Chase Brown, like I
do think those two things are connected.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
And if.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
I just don't look at it and be like, all right,
that dude wins enough to feel like he's a real
weapon on the on the offense. Yeah, and we've seen
it in the past. This team can draft wide receivers.
They're good at it, they're good at developing it, they're
good at finding those guys. So I'm sure they'll draft one.
I know they'll draft one again this year. Is it

(07:54):
going to be in the third round? Is it going
to be in the second round? Could it be like
we said earlier with Carnell Tate in the first And
if that's the case, then the writing is very clearly
on the wall for andre Yoswash and he becomes I think,
and it can't battle with Mitchell Tinsley yeah, but yeah,
I don't look at him and be like, all right,
this dude's a weapon and the Bengals should be doing
everything in their power to keep him on the field
next year. He just hasn't won enough. Let me ask

(08:17):
you another player just twenty twenty two. He's got the
club option for twenty twenty six, so the Bengals can
bring him back at twelve million.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Dax Hill. Dax Hill, Look, guy, say what you want to,
but he's been asked to do a ton. It's not
easy to switch positions in the NFL. He's done it twice,
He's battled injuries, he's had multiple coordinators, and I think
you could make the argument down the stretch, and again
it's hard because of the competition, but down the stretch,
I think we've seen the best play we've seen of

(08:44):
Dax Hill in his time here in Cincinnati. He's done
so as an outside corner opposite of DJ Turner, and
people have wondered is it safety, is it slot? Is
it outside? I think he's in his best position right now.
Can you start twenty twenty six and be confident in
where this defense needs to be if you have DJ
Turner and Daxhill as your two outside corners. Yeah, I

(09:05):
feel pretty good about that me too. Like as much
as this defense needs to do, I feel like you
feel pretty good about where they can be if those
are your two day one corners.

Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yeah, And keep in mind DA's coming off of a
knee injury. People say that it really takes a year
before you start to feel like yourself, and I know
we're kind of at that point now for Dax, and
I think he's performed a lot better. I've been especially
impressed his ability to bounce inside and outside and against
different types of players, and the way that he was
going up against Trade McBride and him and dj Ivy

(09:35):
working together. He's just an athlete. He's been a pretty
decent tackler. He's been aggressive in the run game, which
I think is really important for a corner. You don't
find those very much in today's NFL. So yeah, I
would feel fine about that. And the Bengals, of course,
already did pick up that fifth year option, so he's
going to be there next year, and I think that's
a good thing.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
It's hard because you can't run it back with everybody right.
You have to make the dis decisions to move on
from this team, and and put them in the championship window.
As it relates to twenty twenty six free agents, let
me just run down the list. You tell me if
you're in or out on twenty twenty six of them
as a Bengal Trey Hendrickson out. According to spot track,

(10:18):
his market value is twenty five point five million dollars.
I'm with you, I'm out for I.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Think that doesn't matter. I don't think if his franchise
tag might be.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Twenty seven and a half on the open market, that's
what they're They think he could get Joseph Osai. His
market value has projected fifteen million dollars in or out
on Osai. I would be in okay on that. Ted Carris, Yeah,
six and a half million. Arry signed him to an extension,
didn't they? So there he's fine. Geno Stone, no out,

(10:51):
Joe Flacco in, Noah fan in. Really, even with Eric
All coming back, I don't know what Eric All is
going to look like. Lucas Patrick in just because dev
dev is a major need. I think the projected market
value on spot track for Dalton Reisner is two point

(11:12):
three million dollars. Yeah, he'll probably make five in and
I'm good with that. What about Cam Taylor britt Out.
Guess what ten? Cam Taylor BRIT's market value is probably
pretty decent. Fifteen million? Yeah, no things, Nope, Taylor Hudson.
In trying to think any other names that may be
on this list that's essentially the major names. What about

(11:33):
some say in the list? You ready for this? Okay?
Brian Cook, it's played pretty well for Kansas City. I
would kick the tires there. Twenty six years old, Cam
Curl twenty seven years old, I would go I would

(11:55):
lean more.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Cook, Okay. Kobe Bryant, I like Kobe too, twenty seven
years old. Sixty one point nine coverage grade.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Yeah, that's tough. What was the coverage grade? Sixty one
point nine? Dad, I think that'd be an upgrade. Reid
Blankenship turning twenty seven. I'd be in on Reid. Okay.
I think I'm a fan of Reid Blankenship.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Kyle Duggar talked about him earlier this year. Ends up
with Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
Jakwan Brisker, all right, Brisker, I mean these are the
type of guys that are kind of These are the
names the Bengals realm of players that they would go after.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Thirty seven year old Harrison Smith.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
I mean, he played pretty pretty damn good on Christmas.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
He did. If you can bring in Flacco, you might
as well bring in him. I'm in Brian Cook's market
value says fourteen million. I would. I would be good
with Brian Cook. I'd be open to that. I think
him and Battle could be good at the back end.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Our friend Ricky Uchino brought up a good point to me,
Ricky Ringside. I love rick because he usually does think
something outside the box. He said, what if the Bengals
trade for Jesse Bates?

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Ooh, Atlanta kind of in no man's land.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Yeah, now, the way they finished the season could impact that,
But I hadn't even considered that a possibility, And I
don't know if if it.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Had to be open to it. It just doesn't sound like
something they would ever do, right, It never sounds like
something they would do.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
But like you talk about what Burrow said about getting creative,
about you know, being serious about fixing the defense, that's
something he'd.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Be twenty nine next year, still very much in the prime.
Good with me.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
I would, Yeah, I would just wonder off the top
of my head, I don't know his numbers for his contract,
but I feel like you're getting towards the end of
it there.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Twenty twenty six, he is due to make his cap
hits twenty four million. His base salary is thirteen Okay,
that's doable, and then twenty twenty nine you could avoid it,
or twenty twenty seven, right.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
It's a void year. So I mean, I don't know
that's that's a fascinating one.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
And that would be like, that would be the type
of move though that says we're not trying to develop,
We're trying to win right now. Hm, I mean there's
there would be no other type of move that would
signify that more than Jesse Bates.

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah, And now, I don't know that it would be
the most perfect fit coming in with Al Golden. And
I think Jesse Bates worked really well with Von Bell
and worked really well with lou An Aruma, and that's
why they were so successful. So there would certainly be
a learning curve for him coming back in. And I'm
not just putting this out there because he's a familiar name,
but it's like, oh, yeah, I mean, this is a
guy who's an affordable, effective safety.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
That, you know, the Bengals have in the past been
fond of former players. I just wonder if that's you know,
that's something that when you think about trying to be
creative this offseason, looking at all your options, I would
be open to that.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
It's crazy. I'm looking at the Baits deal with the Falcons.
He was guaranteed thirty six million at signing in twenty
twenty three. His base salary was just a million dollars.
It was one million, seven hundred and fifty twenty twenty four,
one point five million this year. It'll jump up to

(15:19):
thirteen million next year. I mean, that is it. They
did a lot of creative ways to get that deal
done for Jesse Bates.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I think the Bengals have spent a little more than
that trying to replace them. Trying to replace them, Yep, yeah,
shout out to Rick Uchino man. Now, the Bengals are
are right often when it comes to cutting ties with guys,
but the ones that they miss on are big one.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
It's brutal.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Yep, Zeitler, Witworthitler, Jesse Bates, and hell. Even waiting on
Chase and Higgins cost them a ton of.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Money, and that's why I think it even says more
to get out in front of Chase Brown. I agree.
Let's take a break, switch gears. Let's talk about the
Bearcats and what they did last night against Lipscomb. Summer saying, Austin,
when you look back on this team in March and
you're figuring, okay, are they five seed to seven seed?
Where are they at? Folks will say that night against

(16:14):
Lipscomb changed everything. We'll talk about the win. You'll hear
from West Miller next on the Home of the Bengals
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
From locker room whispers to stadium roars, He's got it
all Moeger today at three pm on ESPN fifteen thirty.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Ah yes, a little angel Ridge ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati
Sports Station. Thanks to our friends at Penn Station and
thank you for listening. We'll get to the Bearcats in
just one moment. Another phone call before we do so
from Rob. Hey, Rob, I'm doing great, guys.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
How are you doing today?

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Good?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
How are you?

Speaker 4 (17:00):
Just want to wish you guys happy New Year and
keep up the good work. I enjoyed listening to you guys.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
When I can. Thanks.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
I totally agree with what you guys said about, you know,
Bengals showing Joe Burrah. We're all in a couple of
ideas for that too. On top of the Jesse Bates.
When you guys say I'm done with that, I like
Cook too. If he can't get baits. DJ Reid is
a free agent. He's not happy up in Detroit. From
what I understand, he had a cap hit for eleven million.

(17:31):
I think last year he might get getting for like
eight on a one year deal or something like that.
He graded at seventy overall PFF grade tier Tart's a
free agent, but I thought we had him come in,
and I don't think he rodes well for us as
far as his character. But he's there. And I just

(17:53):
Jalen Phillips for the Eagles. I know he's a linebacker
at about two hundred and sixty pounds. He plays more
defensive him, but but our ends play linebacker anyway, so
he's a possibility as as far as a two way player. Well,
I just wanted you guys give me your opinion on them. Guys.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah, Rob, I appreciate the phone call. Thank you. It's
this is the hardest part, Austin. And this is like
when this is when you go to the scouting departments
because there are so many names like Rob just mentioned
that are out there, of guys that maybe you head
in for a visit before, or maybe you have it,
or maybe you've had your eyes on for a year
or two and now they're going to be a free
agent and now it makes sense. It's just it's why

(18:32):
the scouting department is so crucial, because you have to
identify not only the players, but how they fit in
the system that's being run here. Yeah, not all good
players are good fits in every system.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Yeah, without a doubt. And you know, Jalen Phillips, that's
an interesting name. I know Philly fans are pushing hard
for the Eagles to extend him. He's having a really
good season and I think he'll make a pretty good
amount of money. I wonder if the Bengals be willing
to pay that. Khalia Davis from San Francisco, twenty seven
years old is having a solid season. Devonte Wyatt from
Green Bay is a guy who's gonna command a little

(19:08):
bit of money that I would be interested in. But honestly,
the especially the interior of the defensive line. It is
a very very thin free agent class, Like there's just
not a lot of guys out there, which means that
the Bengals are probably gonna have to roll with who
they have and invest in a defensive tackle or an

(19:29):
interior defensive lineman at some point in the draft. One
of the names that gets brought up is Peter Woods
from Clemson as someone that you might be wanting to
take a look at. But I think because of how
thin that position group is in free agency and guys
some of those names I mentioned, they are probably going
to be extended with their teams. Then it becomes even thinner,
and it makes me wonder if the Bengals will have

(19:51):
to maybe double up on that position similar to what
they did at linebacker last year.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Yeah, I look at as a D line goes a
lot of the edge rushers that are free a agents.
They're getting up there in age. Khalil Max almost thirty five,
Asam Reddick is simply the same age as Trey Hendrickson.
Joey Bosa is over thirty, Leonard Floyd, Denico Autry. You
haven't done the list of free agents. Dante Fowler Junior

(20:15):
Kyle van Noyd. These guys are all thirty or above.
So again it's does that player one fit from a
talent standpoint? And two does he fit the scheme that
Al Golden wants to run. That's why it's for me,
it's always talking about does the player and their skill
set match the scheme that you're trying to run. It's
more than just is that player good. There's a lot

(20:39):
of good players in the NFL, but some of those
players just don't match what the team should or wants
to be running. Switch gears. Very briefly, here what happened
last night at Fifth Third Arena. I know for many
it is a meaningless non conference win, and for the
Bearcats they've just not had enough of those types of wins.

(21:01):
I get it. I get that there is frustration, and
to be honest, rightfully, so this team has vastly underperformed
in their non conference and I even think this, like
when I look at the Bearcats Austin, I think of, Okay,
you lose to at the time number six Louisville, even
if you would have lost to Georgia Clemson, and I'll

(21:24):
even thow Xavier in on the road had you not
had the Eastern Michigan loss, you could just say, well,
this team just wasn't good on the road. Clemson and
Georgia are good basketball teams. Those are tournament teams. Louisvill's
a tournament team. You could have talked people into it.
The Eastern Michigan loss is so so brutal on so

(21:45):
many levels because you look back and it's not like
Eastern Michigan should be a contender in the MAC. Eastern
Michigan at this point of the season is now six
and seven. They have lost three in a row to Purdue,
Fort Wayne, Akron and right now State. They're just not
a good basketball team, and they came into fifth thirty

(22:07):
Arena and beat UC. I just don't know how you
get over that loss going forward if you're the Cincinnati Bearcats.
But last night, I'll give it to him, was a
positive step forward and it came with how the game started.
Kerk Crisa, Sewna Bive were not in the starting lineup
last night for Wes Miller, Boba Miller, Mustapha Chom Gisel, James,

(22:31):
Dade Thomas, and Sincere Harris were your starters last night
for the Cincinnati Bearcats. Now Kerk Cresa came off the
bench and made five out of eight threes for fifteen points.
That's good production. They got last night eleven points and
twenty one rebounds to go along with seven assists from
Boba Miller. Don't care who you're playing against, that's filling

(22:53):
it up eleven, twenty one and seven. Mustapha Chom posted
eighteen points. Gisel James added sixty. Day Day had eight,
Sincere Harris had seven. It added up to eighty nine
for the Cincinnati Bearcats and they held a Lipscomb team
to just sixty two points. And I know that these
types of things don't matter much, but if you go
back to just a week ago, Lipscomb went to Cameron

(23:14):
Indoor Stadium, they trailed by three at halftime, forty eight
to forty five, and they actually led that game in
the second half before things got away late. So it
is a Lipscomb team that can score a lot of points.
It's a Listcom team that hasn't win over Marshall earlier
this season. But the Bearcats took care of business last
night in their final tune up before Big Twelve play

(23:35):
gets underway on Saturday. Before we talk about Saturday. Here's
what Wes Miller had to say after yesterday's win.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
Well, as I told the guys in the locker room,
you know, statistically, I think there's one statistic that you
can be selfish about and it's still good for the team,
and that's rebounding. And so twenty one rebounds from Bob
Miller that really impresses me. And what I'd like is
for other guys to compete with them a little bit.

(24:04):
I said at halftime he had thirteen of them, and
I told the guys, I said, hell, guys, thirteen's pretty
damn good. But you guys can go compete with them
a little bit. We'd like some other guys to rebound too.
But twenty one rebounds that impressed me. I care a
lot about rebounding, and he gets twenty one of them.
I don't care who you're playing in Division one basketball.

(24:25):
That's impressive.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
He had eleven threes.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
It's the I think the fourth or fifth game you've
been over ten the ball movement.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Was it better than any other game? Was it better
you thought? It? Was it better tonight than you know?

Speaker 5 (24:40):
I really I'll go watch the tape. Twenty one assist
I think that's good. We've had high assist numbers. I
thought we were stagnant at times offensively in the first half.
On possessions. I'm not saying every possession, and I thought
we moved it better in the second half. I still
think we have to have better body movement. Sometimes we

(25:01):
can just stall and we don't do that in practice,
but when the lights come on, sometimes we do it.
But I think there were some possessions that you can
show that are really good, and then I think there's
some that need improvement.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
Lineup changes tonight, did you feel like the secret seeing
ability to get the lineups you wanted out there and
putting guys in the right position was a little bit
easier with getting Jizzle And since it's here been bucking
lit up.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
I think Jizzle just allows you to do some different
things lineup wise, that different combinations because he's got size
and like physicality, so he can defend multiple positions. So
some combinations that we tried early that maybe just weren't
working for whatever reason, Like some of those combinations work

(25:48):
a little better on his on the floor because he
just gives you more. It's like Baba, Like Baba makes
every lineup work a little better because of his versatility.
Jizzle has some of that effect as well. But I mean,
they asked me on the radio, so I'll say the
same thing that you guys said. What kind of went
into the change of the starting lineup? And sometimes things
are complicated and sometimes they're simple, and this one was simple.

(26:10):
We hit a twenty eight point deficit late in the
first half, and that group erased for the next twenty
four minutes with the help of some of their teammates.
But that group was the core group that erased a
twenty eight deficit to one and gave us a chance
to win the game. To me, we're just going to
reward that kind of edge, that kind of competitive spirit,

(26:30):
and we got to play like that for forty minutes.
So that's why we started that group. But certainly, is
Gizls starting to incorporate himself back into the team from
a playing standpoint, it's going to change some lineup stuff.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
All right. So I wanted to stop it there because
that's the answer and why the lineup changed. It's very
simply put. That lineup played harder against Clemson. That lineup
got them back in the game. That lineup should be rewarded,
and I agree with that. Kurk Creesa was not great.
Seana Bive has been very disappointing. If I was there
last night, I watched the body language. The body language

(27:04):
was alarming from Seanabiv who last night just finished with
two points two free throws very late in that game.
It's Houston on Saturday. If you want to ever change
the narrative, if you're Wes Miller, it's a game you
gotta win. You haven't beat Kelvin Samson since you've been here.
It's a top ten Houston team. It's a team that
could go right back to the national title game. They

(27:26):
come into your building. You've had a terrible non conference slate.
If you want to wipe the slate clean, if you
want to change the perception on this team, you don't
just compete on Saturday. You go find a way to
upset Houston. I know that's a tall task, but that's
what it is. The non conference has been so bad.
If you want to be taken out all seriously, if
you want to build any momentum and confidence here in

(27:46):
the city, you got to find a way to beat
Houston on Saturday. That's as simple as it is. We'll
take a break, we'll come back. We'll try to grab
one more phone call before we get to Mogger on
ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Welcome back since he

(28:07):
three sixty ESPN fifteen thirty Cincinnati Sports Station. Mulager will
join us for quick hits in just a few moments.
We do have time for one more phone call today.
Let's go to Dayton and talk to Scott. What's up Scott?

Speaker 7 (28:20):
Hey, guys, So I've heard a lot of handwringing about the.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Team and the did covin and you just.

Speaker 7 (28:33):
Read off a draft class that appeared to be pretty good, right,
and this past draft class I think also is pretty good.
So why do we joke?

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Why do we laugh?

Speaker 7 (28:49):
Why do we consider comedy? When Zach Taylor says we
hit on all six of our picks this year.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Well, I think it's too early to say any thing
about Shamar Stewart. He's got one sack on the year,
He's been heard for much of the year. I don't
think the play of Demetrius Knight or Barrett Carter has
been at anywhere near NFL competitive level at the linebacker position. Yeah,
what's the question.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Yeah, that's exactly why you laugh, is because they're rookies.
It's way too early to tell.

Speaker 7 (29:20):
Well is her in the starting lineup?

Speaker 8 (29:22):
You know?

Speaker 7 (29:23):
I think once you're in the starting lineup.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
That starting or performing. Because they haven't performed.

Speaker 7 (29:30):
Well enough, well okay, and there.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Was a point where they were great dead last in
linebackers in the National Football League. That matters, I know.

Speaker 7 (29:42):
And we're willing to just throw them away because they
didn't perform their first year.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
I don't think it's throwing away. I think it's an
understanding that there is an opportunity and a an urgency
that you have to win now, and you can't just
slowly pull guys along. You've got to compete for a championshi,
And I don't think you can with those guys. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
My thought process is there hasn't been enough development from
game one to Game seventeen that makes you feel like, Okay,
we feel comfortable with these guys moving forward, so you
may have to address that position in the office.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
I don't think anyone is saying pull the plug on
Shamar Stewart. I think people are saying we need to
see more. We've seen a season of Barrett Carter, Demetrius Knight.
I get all of that.

Speaker 7 (30:23):
So perhaps they missed on Carter, maybe he isn't with him,
maybe they.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
Do cut him in the offseason or whatever.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
But the rest of the class has been pretty solid.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
I mean, Stewart's barely played. He's played seven games night.
I think is not that great, fair Child, it feels
like is a big time hit. Rivers ended up getting
benched because he was so bad, and TODs Brooks really
hasn't gotten any opportunities. So are they as bad as
last year's class? No, probably not altogether at this point.
But I wouldn't I wouldn't be like this is six

(31:00):
hits by any stretch.

Speaker 7 (31:03):
Yeah, well, okay, fair enough.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Yeah, Scott, I appreciate the phone call. It's it's just
different now, like it's it's not a developmental team. You
have to win now, Yeah, and you've got to get
contributors to do so.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
And while I still think it's way too early to make,
you know, solidify your opinion on this class. The issue
has always been the twenty three or the twenty two,
twenty three, and twenty four classes. It looks now like
Murphy is in Turner and those guys as you mentioned earlier. Okay,
that's finally maybe those guys have finally turned a corner

(31:39):
last year's class. Jermaine Burton's cut, Chris Jenkins has done nothing,
McKinley Jackson requested a trade. Eric Hall's been hurt. Josh
Newton can't get on the field, Dana McLaughlin's not here,
Cedric Johnson, Okay, maybe Dejon Anthony can't get on the field.
Matt Lee's been hurt. Amarius mims Is. I mean, if
you're going one for eight, that's not very good.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Right in a scenario where you've got a hit on picks, Yeah,
you can't miss anymore. We'll take a break, mulwager to
close out this edition of Cinty three sixty and welcome
us into The Mowager Show. Happens next on ESPN fifteen thirty,

not let the medical prosecse Kinetics help right here in Cincinnati.
They deliver regenerative treatments that actually help your body repair
the areas that are causing you pain. Talking about those
achy knees, your shoulders, your hips, your back, really wherever
it hurts. Instead of an invasive operation that sidelines you

for months. These treatments happen right in the office, and
then you go about your day. It's a simple procedure
that can deliver big, life changing results. So imagine this.
You're moving better in twenty twenty six. You're stronger, you're
planning doing the stuff you love doing, all because you

Speaker 4 (34:23):
Since he.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Was looking for MO. I don't think we have MO yet.
Maybe we'll get him by the end of quick hits.
Maybe not. He is getting himself set up right now
at Oakley Greens. Will he be broadcasting from this afternoon?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I don't want to, you know, totally destroy the vibe here.
But we didn't talk about this. We talked about a
little bit the h Greg Biffel thing last week Yeah,
did you see the terrible news about Denny Hamlin his family.
So apparently Denny Hamlin's parents' house caught on fire and
his dad was killed. Oh my good house fire over

(34:59):
the weekend, and I believe it's in North Carolina and
so his it's according to TMZ, so taken with a
grain of salt. But TMZ said that Denny Hamlin's dad
passed away and at least one other person was injured.
I assume that would be his mom. Yeah, I see
it on This is a lot of different outlets right
now week for NASCAR fans and obviously for Denny Hamlin.

(35:23):
They're in the middle of that suit right now, twenty
three eleven, racing against NASCAR and all that.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
So wild. Yeah, it said that at the time Dennis Hamlin,
his dad and Mary Lou Hamlin, his mom, both suffered
catastrophic injuries while trying to escape, and his father died
at the Caramont Regional Medical Center. Crazy. That is unfortunate.

Speaker 10 (35:46):
Man.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
That is very very sad news around the NASCAR world
and Denny Hamlin.

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Also starting to get more details, according to TMZ of
the Stefan Diggs allegations. TMZ says that Stefan Digs former
shit claims that he slapped and choked her over a
salary dispute. So it was felony, strangulation and assault charges
that were brought against Stefan Diggs. Earlier today, TMZ reports

(36:14):
that it was his chef over a salary dispute that led.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
To all this unbelievable stuff. Man.

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Then, as we mentioned earlier, Trayvon Diggs, his brother, was
waived by the Dallas Cowboys and put on waivers after
an injury riddled season. Did you see how he got
a concussion? No, he was installing a mount for a television,
a massive television, so big that the mount came from
the ceiling and the pole fell on his head.

Speaker 2 (36:44):
Unbelievable. It's a lot going on. Speaking of a lot
going on, the Cincinnati Bearcats have departed for Memphis. Uh oh,
they've departed with one less player on the roster. Evan
Pryor has departed from the very Evin Pryor, which is
weird because I know he's been practicing leading up to

(37:05):
the bowl game. Evan Pryor announced earlier today that he
is entering the transfer portal. In the last two years,
Evan Pryor has totaled over twelve hundred total yards and
eleven touchdowns for the Cincinnati Bearcats. They are already without
Tylie Walker Evan Pryor. To my knowledge, Austin was viewed

(37:27):
as one of those foundational pieces that they were hoping
to build around for next year, this year, and last year.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
Now.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
He split time last year with Corey Kiner, split time
this year with Tylie Walker missed a couple games due
on an ankle injury. In twenty twenty four. He avered
seven and a half yards per carry twenty twenty five,
six point nine yards per carry. Every time this guy
touched the ball, he gained nearly seven yards. It's pretty good.

(37:54):
That is a monumental loss, not only going into the
Liberty Bowl, but going into next year as well for
the Cincinnati Bearcats, already without Brendan Sowersby, already without major
contributors on the defensive side of the ball, going up
against last time. I checked a team in the Naval

(38:14):
Academy that rushes the ball for two hundred and eighty
nine yards per game. That is number one in all
of college football. How fast? What do you want to
set the over under on from a time standpoint for
that game on Friday, UC runs it for one hundred

(38:34):
and seventy nine yards per game and the Midshipman run
it for two hundred and eighty nine yards per game.
What time is kickoff? Four thirty? Okay? How long has
that one lasting?

Speaker 3 (38:45):
Based off I'm sure they got to get the commercials in.
What's interesting is the bowl game, so it'll probably be
done around eight forty five. What's interesting is the Bearcats
run the ball on average for five point nine yards
per carry, Navy five.

Speaker 2 (38:59):
Point eight, So there are gonna be a lot of touchdowns,
probably a lot of five six seven yard games and
chewing up some clock.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
Five point nine yards per carry, that's a that's a touchdown. Yeah,
if you just hand it off every time, that's true.
You better even get into third downs.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
I mean three yards every play is a touchdown. If
that's the case, shout out to Coastal Carolina. They're up
early on Louisiana Tech and the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl
as well.

Speaker 3 (39:23):
From what I've been told, I have this game on.
I haven't been paying that close attention, but apparently it's
the worst game of football ever played. Really, Yeah, a
lot of penalties, a lot of mistakes, a lot of
dudes that don't normally play that are playing. Sean McVay
said that even though they've clinched their playoff spot, the

(39:44):
the starters are playing for the Rams next week.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Coastal Carolina has eight penalties already in the and that
game just started the second quarter. Yeah, exactly. Louisiana Tech
has three. Should we talk to Moegar for two minutes?
Do you want to? We can, Let's do it. Let's
talk to Mo.

Speaker 8 (39:58):
Hi, Mo fellas, how we doing, Mo?

Speaker 2 (40:01):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (40:02):
I'm uh, I'm well.

Speaker 7 (40:03):
No.

Speaker 8 (40:03):
No Evan Prior for the Bowl game?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
No, Evin Prior. I just bought my Ovan Prior. J
I thought Evan Prior was going to be a piece
to build around next year. Why, I don't know. You
ran a for like six yards of carry?

Speaker 8 (40:16):
Yeah? I love Evan Pryor.

Speaker 10 (40:18):
Why would anybody think that any player is a player
to build around next year?

Speaker 2 (40:21):
For? It's also true, I thought maybe at least for Friday.

Speaker 8 (40:24):
Oh that'd be nice.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Uh, Mo, very briefly, what do you have coming up today?
In the Mowager Show at Oakley Greens.

Speaker 10 (40:34):
Joe Burrow isn't the only person who should be buying
gifts for the Bengals offensive line.

Speaker 8 (40:40):
I want to talk about JJ Bleda today.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Wow, what do you say?

Speaker 10 (40:44):
Let's go back and look at opening days starting lineups
each of the last three years.

Speaker 4 (40:49):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (40:49):
Where Paul Danner Junior is going to be here, Sean
sayat Stats and Scheme newsletter.

Speaker 8 (40:53):
We're going to talk sports in the law and so
much more here at Oakley Greens. Yeah, between three and six.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Well, Mo was great to talk talk to you today,
have a great show. Hear your voice, Mo, see in Memphis.
There he is. That's Meager. We are done, Austin, Tony,
We're out. We're in very briefly. Tomorrow's are our names
for an hour. Enjoy the Mowagger Show. I Got Nothing
