Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of six point seven LIGHTFM Cubby Christine producer Kristen.
So what's the cheapest hobby somebody can get into? And
this came up on the internet because it's summertime. Some
people have some free time. Not everybody, but some people
have some free time.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
We can't get away.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Maybe can't get away. Maybe you know you're on a budget. Yes,
so you want to find a nice little hobby. So
what is the cheapest hobby somebody can get into? Well,
here is what the World Wide Web is saying. Number one. Reading. Yeah,
especially when you borrow books. Just get a library card,
go to your local library. Nice. Okay, it's funny. I've

(00:35):
been going to my local library lately and I kind
of enjoy it. Really In East Brunswick, New Jersey. Yes,
I asked the lady they go, how many books can
you check out at once? What do you think? The
answer was.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
As many as you want?

Speaker 1 (00:46):
One hundred. Oh, whoa, I'm like what I thought it
was like five or ten?

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Yeah, there's one in the day. You can't even carry him.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
So reading is number one. Bird watching number two. There's
a free app actually called Merlin Bird I D and
you can actually put the app up and see birds
and they'll tell you what kind of bird it is.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I do legit take a lot of joy out of
like just watching the birds, the squirrels, whatever is in
my neighborhood.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Nature. Yeah, get into it too. What is it about?
As we get a little older, we appreciate that, But
when you're a kid.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
You're like, because it's calm, it's relaxing, it is.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
Yeah. Number three is writing, you know, just journaling poetry.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
You know, so you journal every day, Cubby.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Oh, every single day. I talk about how lovely you are,
Christine and how you love Taylor Swift. So you can
write about Taylor Swift, Christine in your journal by Taylor
Journal Journal Christin.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I don't know. I used to know.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah, I feel like I had a diary when I
was a kid.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Write. Number four rock collecting, very cheap hobby. You walk around,
you pick up rocks or minerals. They're also called minerals, right, rocks.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
You can try that with the kids.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Exercise is number five. Well, it's easier to beat because
you know what, you don't need a gym membership. You're outside.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I'm walking every day and you're walking.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yes, although it can be too hot. Sometimes it is.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Hot out there. I still make myself do it, but
it is hot.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Chess or board gaming as long as you avoid, you know,
board game collecting, try to try to actually get out
there and maybe play some chess.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Okay, that's fun.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Board games or agami. There are plenty of instructional videos
on YouTube. You can get into our agami if you're
looking for a cheap hobby. Geo cashing. A friend of
mine does this all the time. He has the geocaching app.
It's free, and you know, I think you have to
pay for certain parts of it. But you just walk
around town and you're just geocash things. What does that mean?

(02:45):
It's like you're marking something or taking a picture of something. Oh,
can you google it for me? I don't know the
exactly answer, because I don't do it. My friend, my
brother in law. Yeah, I don't know my brother my
brother in laws does it because I'm geocashing. It involves
walking around.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
And kind of sharing where you're at, like just taking pictures.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Or other people leave. I don't know. Yeah, that's sounds
like I'm probably not doing it justice.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
It's like a treasure hunt, an outdoor treasure hunt.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
It's so cute, really.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Like when that Pokemon. Remember when Pokemon came out on
the phone. Yes, people were saying, that's what that's geocachhing kind.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Of because it's like you're using the app on your
phone and you're you know, real time in real life
and with at least the Pokemon, at least you know,
the little characters would show up and it could be
like in your backyard and you had to catch the Pokemon.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
This is similar. Okay, yeah, okay, And look I can't
do them all, but cooking is on the list, Drawing,
casual hiking or camping, gardening, lock picking is actually on there.
This this again, if you just tuned in the cheapest
hobby you can get into about that lock picking and
of course pick a ball. You know everyone's getting into
pick a ball nowadays. So what's your summertime hobby? Give

(03:57):
