Crazy First Date: "He Told Me He Wanted Silence!"

Carlie called in with her "Crazy First Date" story and how her date asked for silence while they were out on their walk.

It's Cubby and Christine's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's Cubby and Christine and a couple of days ago,
we talked to Carly when Christine was here. She's off today, Carly,
When did your crazy first date happen? And how did
you guys meet?

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Well, it's fresh in my mind because we met on
Bumble and we had our date a week ago, so
it's just just happened.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Okay, where'd you guys go?

Speaker 1 (00:22):
We went on a walk, which I loved that.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
He pitched that. He was like, let's what if we go, like,
grab coffee and go on a walk in the wood.
It's like there's a trail that he likes. So we
did that and everything was fine, like we're I was
in the middle of telling him a bit about my
childhood and then he just stops and he looks at
me and he goes, I'm sorry, can we have silence
right now?

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:45):
And I was like, so taken aback and I was like,
oh okay.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
He was like, I just.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Want quiet right now, and so we proceeded to walk
for the next thirty minutes just looking at nature silently
to my side, which like, that's great if you're in
a full blown relationship, but a first date.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I was like, the whole point is to get to
know each other and to talk.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Right, that's a little weird.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah, I want to go back a little bit. What
was your first reaction when he proposed the idea of
let's go on a walk as a first date.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I thought it was actually sweet. I thought it was like, Okay,
that's not conventional. Like I didn't I didn't think.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
He was going to murder me in the woods or anything.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Right. The weirdest thing is like once we wrapped the walk,
I thought he was going to be like, you know,
I'm sorry. I just like really love nature and wanted quiet,
But he just acted like it was totally normal and
that was it.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Strange.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
I got turned off by that.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
So so that was pretty much the deal breaker. I
mean you learned right away this guy wasn't for you.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
So have you heard from him again?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
He did reach out, like just yesterday, and I just
haven't responded yet because I just like, I got I
got the ick.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I don't know. Yeah, you're not feeling it.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I mean, if you think there could be a shot, though,
maybe try at least a coffee or lunch with him
and then I mean like an indoor, regular date kind
of setting.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
It would be so funny if he pitches like, let's
go to a movie this time any where, we just
don't talk anyways, we mayn't.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Talk, don't talk, don't react to the movie.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
