Speaker 1 (00:00):
One of six point seven light a FM with Kebby
and Christine in the morning. It is eight ten here
in New York City, five ten am and lovely Los Angeles, California,
where our friend Harry Medvett is calling in front.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I know. Thank you so much, Harry, who is the
spokesperson for the Cinema Foundation. We love speaking with you, Harry.
Good morning, Thank you, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
And it's a great day because today is actually a
very special movie going holiday. It is which is the
first time we've ever done Yeah, I haven't heard of
ituse we've.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Never done it before. It's the first time ever.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
It's called Date Night at the Movies. And the reason
we're doing this is because a lot of theaters have
been investing in their future. It's about two point two
billion dollars in the next few years with theaters are
pouring in to upgrade the theaters, modernizing them.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
I know.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
One of them is like the Look Dine in Cinemas
over in fifty seventh really beautiful place. And so all
the different theaters across Manhattan, across the Tri state area
are opening up their doors and they're offering these two
for one specials for date Night So if you haven't
been on a date to the movies for a while,
tonight is your night. This is when you should go
because there's all sorts of freebies. I know that AMC

(01:06):
is doing buy one, get one free candy. I know
that if you haven't been to that Regal Times Square
with forty X, which is amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:13):
It was not too long ago I was there.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
But you can do like buy one, get one free
for popcorns, rings and candy, and then see a movie
in forty X or screen X and then I have
Showcase Cinemas is doing two for one deals on personal pizzas, pretzels, nachos, soda, candy, popcorn.
One of my favorites is there's a place in New
canadon Connecticut called The Playhouse that's run by the actor

(01:35):
Patrick Wilson and Luke Parker Bowles and Brandon Jones, and
there buy one, get one free tickets to see the
wedding Singer. But then I'm saying, and Drew Parimore, you're
gonna have an actors.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
I would love to see that in the theater again.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
That's what they're doing this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I bring back a lot of the classic It's like
train Wreck with Amy Schumer. It's a ten year anniversary.
I don't know how that happened ten years ago already,
and I think forty year old Virgin.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Is Yeah, fortye old Vision is gonna come back. And
then in September we got The Breakfast Club, which I
want to see in theaters again.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
But yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
You know, this is a trend. I think it's shocking
to me. Sometimes a lot of the people coming to
see these movies are very young moviegoers who just they
heard all about it and they want to see it
on the big screen. Like I know, Fathoms bringing back
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that's back this weekend. So how
could you not see that with personal pizzas.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
You know, that's pretty got to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, because Eric and I want to do this tonight.
Actually we had just planned on doing date night at
the movies and then I saw that this was happening
and it's perfect. And we haven't seen Superman in theaters yet, Harry,
I want to see Superman.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Oh, I think you would love it.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
I think look, first of all, if you see Superman
like in a premium format, I know, like Apple Cinemas
over in White Plains in New York.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
They've got that.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
They actually have a half off deal on tickets, so
half off and two tickets to drinks, one Jumbo popworn
and Apple Cinemas and all their cinemas. But Superman you
definitely want to see on the big screens. Yeah, I mean,
it's just you also want to see it with an audience.
Why of these shows just don't work? Get home if
you're seeing like a comedy or some film that's kind
of a screwball comedy like Splits Fill from a twenty

(03:06):
four that opens this week, and there's two movies from
the can Film Festival this week, and there's also Honey
Don't from Focused Features with mart Quali as a neo
noir and Private Investigator, which is a lot of fun
with Chris Evans as a corrupt pastor. There's just so
many movies you have to see on the big screen
with that audience. And I don't know about you guys,
but sometimes like half the fun is getting those concessions

(03:26):
because there's so much better these days.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
And I was a kid, Yeah, well we talk a
lot about the collector buckets, you know, the popcorn buckets.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, yeah, I was almost going to get one for
Fantastic for the Galactus buckets is really huge.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
U huh.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
I don't know what is your favorite popcorn bucket?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Well, if they have one for Superman and we get
it right, for Crypto the Dog, I forget. If there's
a Crypto, oh, that's great popcorn bucket. But the one
we collectively decided in the room Harry that we cannot
get is the Annabelle doll for the Conjuring because scared.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I wouldn't touch that.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
It's really cool, but we can't do it.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yeah, but no, that would be crazy.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
I think F one had a racing car buck and
by the way, that's back F one with Brad Pitt
and Imax. You can go see that at AMC Lincoln Square.
So that's great daynight.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
How's Weapons? Ou of the way I saw that was
a big movie? Is Weapons worse?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I love Weapons. I'm trying to drag my wife to
see it. She doesn't like horror movies, right, But it's
really it is rated R.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
There's a little bit of gore. But the less you
know about the movie the better.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Because somebody says it's like a cinematic puzzle, it's really
more of a mystery thriller.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
It is so good.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
I mean, well, it's about these kids who are missing
from a classroom except one kid stayed behind. And where
did these kids got in time for the.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
School year to start?

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Oh my god, yeah that My wife doesn't like those
kind of things. But I'm telling you, it's such a
good mystery. It is definitely one of the best films
I've seen this year because it's so original. It's it's
one of the best ones since singers so highly recommend
Weapons if I haven't seen it, or Freaky or Friday
is Still Playing with Lindsay.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Lohanna jam Lee Curtis. That was a lot of fun.
Nobody too. There's so many movies.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Neja is back in theaters as an English dubin movie
in Nija two and then Naked Gun. If you want
a good fun comedy with Pamela Anderson and Leslie, I'm
gonna say Leslie Nielsen, my god, Liam Neeson, Liam playing
Leslion Neilson's son.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
It's so funny.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
What's the gossip in Hollywood? Are they a couple in
real life? Or is this a show man?

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Oh? They are definitely a couple.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I actually met Pamela Anderson at one
of these. She is the nicest person and just so genuine. Yeah,
and so I'm really happy for her because she just
I think she's just somebody who needs somebody like that, and.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
They just seem to be very much in love.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
But anyway, yeah, Goste Naked Gun on the big screen.
If you haven't seen it. There's nothing like a comedy
with a huge audience. So go enjoy date night at
the movies tonight. So you're gonna go, Yes, I think
Superman's movie.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Thank you, We're gonna do it. Harry Medved from the
Cinema Foundation. Always a pleasure to speak with you. Thank
you so much, have a beautiful weekend.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Thank you, guys. See you what the movies?

Speaker 1 (06:00):
