Speaker 2 (00:00):
Can someone text us? Are you listening to us right now?
It's been that kind of week around here a LIGHTFM
where I feel like everyone's away in an on vacation.
The phones are kind of light.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
It kin quiet. You know, if you wanted to win
a contest, this is a good time.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Yes, you're right, Christine, because our phones. I feel like
this week has been kind of light light FM. Although
I just got a text here, good morning Cubby and Christine.
I love living in America. Great to hear that song.
So we have one text today. So if you can
text us and say hey, I'm listening. Where are you?
Hit us up? Just send your message to four four
three six three, type in whatever you want four four

(00:34):
three six three. We love to hear from you. What
are you doing right now? Maybe you're about to hit
the road, Maybe you're working, Maybe you're in a parking
garage somewhere. Maybe you're on a shuttle to the airport.
Because I go to Victoria Parking in Newark, Oh And
they always have us on whenever I park at long
term parking Victoria Parking in Newark, New Jersey, they always

(00:57):
have us on in the shuttle. So shout out to them.
Maybe you're at the airport right now. I don't know.
What do you plan on doing, Christine? All weekend long?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
We will be home.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
You'll be home chilling right.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Yes, because Eric the drummer is working on the fourth
of July.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Now, what about tomorrow? Will you be able to see fireworks.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Right from my house?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Wow, I just have to step out in the back
and yeah, yeah, and I can see them.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Nice, it's really really nice.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
What about you, Kristen.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
We have a couple of barbecues this weekend, but the fireworks,
you know, because they're so late and it's past the
kids' bedtime, we just crank up the white noise so
they don't hear what's going on on the outside.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
But we'll see. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I would like for them to see fireworks, but we'll see.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
By the way, it's officially that time of year where
you hear fireworks a couple of days before the fourth, yes,
and a couple of days after, like in the neighborhood,
like somebody has them somewhere in their backyard and you
hear them.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
You please, don't, I know, because it's like ten o'clock
at night, which for us is late.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
It usually goes off like a week after the Fourth
of July. Americans will spend eight point nine billion dollars
for Fourth of July food. One hundred fifty million hot
dogs are going to be eating tomorrow. July fourth is
America's top beer drinking holiday, and five billion dollars will
be spent on beer and wine. Wow, over the next
couple of days. That's five billion.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yes, with a bee, that's a lot of partying.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
So happy Fourth of July weekend. We're with you until
ten o'clock right, yes, maybe nine will leave, depends a
lot of people not working right now.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
Depend how many text messages you get exactly.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
We do have a few more coming in real quick. Verona,
New Jersey. Someone is pet sitting listening to us. Are
you seeing the text come in? So people are awake
in bed listening to the Best morning show. Somebody said
that you hello from Hoboken. Taking the day off and
going to enjoy this seemingly nice summer day. Thank you,
Kebby and Christine, and today will be very nice. By

(02:46):
the way, there's a chance of a storm, but for
the most part really nice. But look at that, so
we're not alone, guys.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I love this.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Lots of road trippers, a lot of road trippers out there.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, ready to go. Do you have your pretzels? I
always take pretzels on the road.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Gotta have pretzels on a road trip. Yeah, four three
six three on text.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
More music and more. Cubby and Christine coming up one
O six point seven Light f M.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
It's three pretty cool things you need to know.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Right here on light FM with Cubby, Christine and producer Kristen.
So what do Pittsburgh, Tucson, Cincinnati, and Albuquerque have in common?

Speaker 1 (03:22):
They don't have good bagels.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Okay, you know what. Technically you're right, but they are
the most misspelled US cities. Oh really Pittsburgh, Tucson, Cincinnati, Albuquerque.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, that makes sense, it does thinking about it.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Sure, can you spell Albuquerque? Christine?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
No?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Can you? Kristin L give you your best shot? B
Yeah you you you? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Are doun?

Speaker 3 (03:50):
Now you missed the cure.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Anyway, Pittsburgh, Tucson, Cincinnati, Albuquerque. If you're in the car
right now, just try to think about those cities and
see if you can spell them all right, Kristin, No,
I'm sorry, Christine, You're up then kristin, what do you have, Christine?

Speaker 1 (04:05):
Well, when you get Chinese food and you get the
fortune cookie and it's got those little numbers on the back,
and you think should I play the lottery? Maybe the
answer is yes you should because a woman in Kentucky,
her name is Kathy Bailey, she had Chinese food, she
had the fortune cookie. She looked at the back and
she thought, oh, what the heck, I'll just go get
a lottery ticket. Five dollars lottery ticket. She won fifty

(04:27):
thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Not bad all because of a fortune cookie. That's tremendous. Yeah,
pretty cool, all right, Kristin, what do you have?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Krispy Kreme? They are celebrating America's freedom on the fourth
of July by offering free donuts. Yeah, so tomorrow only
you can stop into a Krispy Kreme get a free
original glazed donut. There is a little bit of a catch.
You must wear red, white and blue to claim your donuts.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Oh but that's easy.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
That's an easy one. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Yeah, more Covey and Christine and the great music variety
you expect next, don't light at them it.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
What's a good movie to watch? Based around the fourth
of July. We have them for you. It's one of
six pointy seven LIGHTFM Cubby and Christine producer Kristen Happy
get Away Thursday or is it getaway Wednesday? Or is
it pretty much get away week?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
It is Thursday. It is Thursday, this Thursday, because I
thought it was Friday.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
So a lot of people hitting the road today. You
maybe at your destination already, but everyone's getting ready for
the Fourth of July. But you know what, if you
have some time to chill and maybe watch a movie
on Netflix, and you want to find the perfect movie
that has something to do with the Fourth of July,
there's a website called the Pioneer Woman dot com and
they put together a list of movies that are perfect
to add to your watch list. And here are the

(05:39):
top fifteen. I'd like to discuss with you because some
of these make sense. Some of these I kind of
scratch my head, Like number fifteen. It came out in
nineteen seventy two, but the movie is called seventeen seventy six. Right,
didn't see it, but just for the title.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
You can tell Okay, we can go with that.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah. Hamilton, Yes, which came out in twenty twenty remember
that that was a big deal when you can finally
see it.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Get us through the pandemic.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Forrest Gump at number thirteen, which came out in ninety four.
At number twelve, Air Force one. I believe Harrison Ford
was in that, yes, nineteen ninety seven.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Did he play the President?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
I did? Okay, that was a good one. Number eleven.
Mister Smith goes to Washington. That's from nineteen thirty nine.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
I know that's a big yes for me.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
So you've seen that because you like the classic movies, Christine, Yeah,
is it good? Do you remember? Really good?

Speaker 1 (06:27):
It's excellent?

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Really yeah? Okay. Apollo thirteen is at number ten, that
came out in ninety five. Captain America, the first of
Avenger at number nine makes sense. Yeah, Kristen Ewan too,
that kind of stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Marvel.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I'm not a big marble, right, you're shaky on Marvel. Yeah.
A movie I've never seen, National Treasure, came in number eight.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Chola I believe Nicolas Cage.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yes, that's so fun.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
That's fun.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Again. These are all good movies to watch for this weekend.
Live Free or Die Hard number seven from two thousand
and seven. An American Tale. Number six from nineteen eighty
six cartoon.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Was that like an animated Kristin Do you know? I'm
not sure making her Google? I thought you might know,
just because I didn't know if it was Disney.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Oh yeah, an American tale.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, it's really cute.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
The Sandlot at number five. Wait, here's my question. I've
never seen the whole thing, Christen. You've given me a
hard time about it. I know I probably love it,
but to me, it's a I thought it was a
baseball movie. It is.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
It's one of those just like all American Oh okayball
apple Pie? Yes, yes, very much.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
The same as Rocky, which is number four, the original Rocky.
You know you got the red, white and Blue pants Philadelphia. Yeah,
that's American pants. Yeah. And number three a movie called
The American President came out in nineteen ninety five, remember
that one. I don't either. Number two Top Gun in
eighty six, and the best Fourth of July movie to

(07:50):
watch Jaws eighteen seventy five. Oh boy, I believe it.
It takes place where they try to like they want
the beach to be opened Fourth of July weekend, right,
and that the theme of the whole thing. So yeah,
and it is the fiftieth anniversary. There's been a lot
of Jaws talk.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
You get scared off of going to the movies not
on this list, and this is crazy, right, I know
the answer, Christine? What movie was not on the list?

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Was there a movie called Fourth of July?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Close? Close?

Speaker 1 (08:16):
What was it?

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Independence Dayence Day?

Speaker 2 (08:19):
How is that not on there? Right?

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Somebody missed that one Space Aliens?

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Yeah, Will Smith, Yes, We'll Smith.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Okay, maybe maybe that's you know, it's not very American Aliens.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
You know, I'm a title alone. Come on, right, But
I tell you what this weekend, I think you're going
to be outside, not watching movies. A great looking weekend,
sunshine pretty much most of the weekend, and we'll be
in the eighties. You might have a thunderstorm this afternoon,
but for the most part, we got a great weekend weatherwise.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you expect.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Next on Light at Them Happy Thursday, feeling like a Friday.
It's one of six ploty seven Light fmcvey and Christine
in the morning producer Christen and Yeah, Fourth of July
weekend kicking in and it's all fun and games for
the most part. But talk to your dogar cat, Yes exactly. Yes,
we got to talk about protecting your pets because you know,
if you've got a pet that gets freaked out by fireworks,

(09:15):
experts say, these are the things you can do to
keep them safe. And here's what you need to know.
Number one is leave your pet at home. It seems
like the obvious one, right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Don't take them to the fireworks display, right.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Fireworks displays can be you know, a little disorienting and
frightening to pets, so try to leave them at home.
Do not leave your pet in the car. Cars in
the summer obviously are dangerously hot. There's that, and your
pet can suffer serious health effects, even death in a
few short minutes. I was reading a story like, if
the temperature is eighty five outside, right, which is not

(09:49):
that bad, it can get up to one hundred and
thirty in your car within ten minutes because your car
is just a big greenhouse.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
That's so scary.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
So, yeah, you can't forget about the pets in the car.
Create a home sanctuary. Leave your pet in an area
of your home where they are safe, comfortable, and sheltered
from any outside noise. And lights, an inside room with
no windows. Maybe best pet proof your home when they're scared.
Some animals can become destructive, so be sure to remove

(10:18):
anything that can become damaged or might harm your pet
if chewed. You know, Christine, you and I both have cats,
and they have those freak out moments when yeah, either
they're really scared and get load of the ground and
going to the bed, or they start like running up
and down the walls and darting back and forth.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Let me out of here, man, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Archie's
under the bed right now, by the way. Yeah, because
we mentioned this earlier that people are already doing like
just random fireworks. So the poor guy, he's like, oh good, Yeah,
he's under the bed and he's just going under there now.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yeah, Like, no, it's okay for Archie. Yeah. Keep them
inside too, which kind of goes back to leave your
pet at home, but it just says if you want
to protect your pets, leave them in side and even
in a fence. It says keep them inside. Even in
a fenced yard, panic can lead to a pet escaping.
So that's why you want them inside. Not really you're thinking, okay,

(11:11):
they're at the house, but they're fenced in, that could
still be bad. And finally, make sure you have ID
on your pet. Make sure that they're wearing identification. Better yet,
make sure they are micro chipped. In the unfortunate event
your pet runs away or gets freaked out, you know,
I d is easy to track them down. But there
you go. Keep your pets safe. On the fourth of July.

(11:32):
And then if you have a ring camera. By the way,
I wonder how many of these I'm gonna get the
next couple of days. Was that a gunshot?

Speaker 5 (11:39):
I heard?

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Do you get that on ring?

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Constantly?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Oh, you don't have ring. So there's like a neighborhood
watch where people can ask questions like, you know, boy
that this rain is bad, blah blah blah, or have
you seen this dog?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
It's constantly a lost pet. And where those guns or.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Those gunshots is. It's somebody like in a neighborhood and
a kid is setting off fireworks, so someone instantly thinks, yeah,
is it a gunshot? I get that all the time
on my ring.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
Yeah, I think a truck backfires and gunshots.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Well, those gunshots I heard? Oh guys, all right, what
do you have coming up in the news.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Christine, let's check out the headlines and do we know
why men are usually in charge of the barbecue?

Speaker 4 (12:22):
More Covey and Christine coming your way on Light at Them.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Put us sixty seven Light FM, Covey and Christine in
the morning producer christin Happy fourth of July weekend on
a Thursday, feeling like a Friday this July third? What
makes the perfect July fourth barbecue plate? What do you
think is everything is on? It is just right? You
have like one cheeseburger, one hot dog, maybe some ribs.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Wow, that's a lot.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
That's a lot of big plate, potato salad. What do
the people say in the you gov poll? I'm looking
at these are the main These are the mains and
the sides. People say our most ideal for a barbecue
platter sixty five percent say a burger slash cheeseburger.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Burger and a toasted butnon please, Oh.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
You want a toasted bun, Christine, I'll get right on that.
Hot dog forty nine percent, ribs at forty eight percent,
potato salad sixty two percent, corn on the cob fifty
five percent, yes, baked beans fifty two percent, and watermelon
forty eight percent yester melon is perfect?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Right? I love that very nice.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Now, are you one of those people like I am
that hates when the food touches a little bit, like
if the potato salad kind of touches the baked beans.
I'm not a fan of that. Yeah, I've got a
little better. But if they're really mashed together, no, I
can't do that.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
I don't want them to exactly because they are different
textures and everything. But it doesn't freak me out if
it happens.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
What about you, Christen?

Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yeah, I'm not a fan of my food touching, But
then what do you do if they're on the same plate,
cubby and they do mesh?

Speaker 2 (13:59):
I will just separate them with the fork, and mentally
it makes me feel better, even though there might be
some potato salad on the beans. Right, have a dibding.
I don't know about you. Give us a text of
four four three sixty three. Are you a food separator
on your plate? And do you want to talk about
what's in hot dogs? Or no?

Speaker 1 (14:18):
No? No, no no, as as a public service if you.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Really don't want to touch it. Right, Because about an
hour ago we were talking about things we can talk
about today and one of the things was a list
of what's in a hot dog, and we all debated
in this room. I said, no, we decided not to
do it on the radio.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I don't want to. I don't want to ruin everybody's
Fourth of July.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, it's one of those things where it's better left on. Said,
just eat your hot dogs.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Don't want to know how they make the sausage, basically.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Right, But if you really want to know, you can
always chat, GBT it or google it. Okay, but we're
not going to give or don't do that either. Coming up,
we got a crazy first date.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next, don't light out that it's Covey and Christine's
crazy first date.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Well, good morning, Robin, So tell us about your crazy
first date. How did you guys meet? When did it happen?

Speaker 6 (15:10):
Well, it happened a long while ago. But a friend
at the hospital said, I have a great guy for you.
He's really nice and blah blah blah, and he wants
his seat, he wants to go out with you. So
he calls and he came out to the island and
pick me up. Really nice a gentleman. He said, I
have a fabulous reservation in the city. And we get

(15:31):
into the city and he told me he forgot his
wallet and he has to just run upstairs to his
apartment to get it. He goes, you want to sit
in the car or come with me, and I'll come
with you. I go upstairs with him. I'm in the
living room and he goes into his bedroom and comes
out naked. Oh no, yes, And I grabbed his money

(15:53):
and I ran out of there so quick. He grabbed
his money, Yeah, he came out with his wallet and naked.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
And I grabbed his wallet and I ran out of there.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Why'd you grab his wallet?

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (16:04):
Because I needed money because I had no way to
get home.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Okay, oh my goodness, gotcha. So did you take the
cash and ditch the wallet? How did this even work?

Speaker 6 (16:13):
I took the cash and I just ditched the wallet
in the hall, and I ran downstairs and I like
hailed down a cab.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I just can't believe you took the whole wallet. I
know you needed money to get back. That's what you're
stuck on. Because there's other things in a wallet. There's
credit cards. The driver's life seem she ditched.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
The wallet cash so petrified. Oh wow, I was young.
I was twenty two and naive.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Was it big or small?

Speaker 6 (16:39):
By the way, it was a nice apartment.

Speaker 1 (16:41):
It was a big apartment.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
The wallet, the wallet, Oh, the wallet.

Speaker 6 (16:45):
I told you I was naive.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
Okay, what's your now? This was so long ago. Are
you married now or are you still just out.

Speaker 6 (16:53):
