I'm wearing all blue, so I.

It's Donald Duck. By the way, my brain NEI a
little more coffee.

But the point is we're festive. And Kubby, what's going
on there with you?

I'm wearing a Columbia fleece Jack.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
You kind of weary every day?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Yeah, So I'm sorry, and I really do feel guilty.
I'm on the Christmas station. I'm not worrying. I'm not
even wearing an ugly christmaswater which I should have done.
And I saw one in the drawer yesterday. Did Yeah,
I don't why I didn't think of it.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
I see it was debating, did I was I gonna
do ugly Christmas sweater today or like a little dress upday?
I did dress up?
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah? Well, you you guys look fantastic. I'm gonna take
a picture and put you on my Instagram of.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Us about you. Yeah, I'll compare contrast.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Why to find me in the picture. I'll be in
the middle between you two lovely ladies. I mentioned the
date December nineteenth. Shout out to my son, who's not
even listening right now. But Miles is four years.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Old today birthday.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you, four years old.
Can you believe it? No. Miss Krin, who always tunes in,
runs the daycare he goes to. So Miss Karen give
him a big hug like you always do. When Miles
comes in today. He's very excited about it. And one
more thing I want to mention. I went to a
I had an appearance yesterday in Forest Hill's Queen's. I
went to the New York Blood Center and it was
(02:19):
just a great time. I mean, the people that run
this new establishment are amazing. And we got some people
to come in and donate blood, and I met some listeners,
and I met a gentleman named Milton who came in.
Milton listens to our show Christine every day six to
ten am. Like he hangs on every word, and so
does a guy named Frank. Frank came and hung out
(02:39):
with me. We sat down, we had water together, we
talked about radio and Frank was just an awesome guy.
And he brought up a great question I never thought about.
You know, we say Mariah Carey is the Queen of Christmas. Well,
who's the King of Christmas? Who would be the King of.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Wells Nat King Cole just came into my head because
well usually the first game.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I was thinking like a being Crosby, maybe m or
could it be someone more current like Michael Buble, because
after all, people call Mariah Queen of Christmas and all
the Wan for Christmas was ninety four? Yes, so do
you go with the classics or in your opinion, who
is the King of Christmas? If Mariah is the queen?
Give us a text at four four three six three
(03:19):
We Burl Lives.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Oh I love Burl Lives. I don't think there's a
ton of songs from Jo. That's the promise, you know, right.

had three days together and then now on vacation. You're
back from Germany. Yes, you're still glowing on your trip.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
It's all that glue vine. Yeah. From the Christmas markets,
which you know I've been sharing. They're just so beautiful.
There's like, there's more pictures and videos that I want
to share from these Christmas markets. I don't want to
overdo it, but it's just so pretty. Yeah, So I'm
going to get it up there on my social Should you.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Stay in Munich because you've been raving about this.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
This hotel is so beautiful. It's called MoMA eighteen ninety.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
MoMA eighteen ninety, I'm gonna google it.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yes, it's like one of those boutique hotels which I
absolutely love and like the best service and a wonderful location.
Because we were right near a train station. Although it
was perfectly quiet, that's important. So we had Oh my gosh,
I've seen this one, isn't it gorgeous?
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I went to Munich years ago, so this is like
on our wish list. Yeah yeah, Coco, my wife, this
is incredible.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
I would love for you to do that. I love
love that hotel. The people who are working there are incredible,
and every room is unique and beautiful. It's like it's
all redesigned. It's it's gorgeous.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
It's like a statue in the room, like a little
statue in the everything.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Yeah. I took pictures of everything. That's what I'm saying.
Like I could post all this. I don't want to
overdo it, but I was like so excited by everything
I was seeing. See the beautiful breakfast you have and.
Speaker 1 (06:28):
Every room MoMA eighteen ninety. Google this, folks right now,
MoMA eighteen ninety in Munich.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
And Luftanza put me in touch with the MoMA eighteen
ninety people. So thank you. I have like a favorite
hotel in Munich.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I want to go back, man, we might have jobs
there soon one day. Yeah. At Byron three that okay, Yes.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
I was taking pictures of that, taking pictures of that
as well. I took pictures of everything in Munich, such
a gorgeous city and Cologne so beautiful. Yeah, the Christmas
markets there reconnecting with family of tons of making it
very easy because they have the connecting flights. You know,
you've already had a great vacation.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
You know what you're working next week? Oh now I'm

the details.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
All right, Thank you.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
More Covey and Christine and a great music variety you
expect Next on light FM.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
New York's Christmas station, one of six point seven LIGHTFM
with Cubby and Christine in the morning. Producer Christen hanging
out producing our show. I gotta tell you We've talked
about this many times, but I want to bring it
up again because maybe you're new to our show and
you haven't heard this. But Christine, your birthday is the
day after Christmas. December twenty six. We've talked about that.
Producer Kristen is the twenty ninth. For those that haven't
(07:51):
heard your take on what it's like having a birthday
the day after Christmas. You've lived with it your whole life. Yes,
you're used to it now, but I am you feel
forgotten about?
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Well? Yeah, like every I'm going to speak on behalf
of Producer Kristen and myself. We both kind of feel
like we have no expectations any longer. We just this is.
This has been it our whole lives. I think when
we were little, our parents tried a couple of parties.
Kids didn't show up because they weren't around. So after
a while it was like, Okay, we're not going to
(08:21):
do that. And even as an adult, cubby, I'm trying
to get like a couple of friends together, just like
let's go to a restaurant. I can't get people together.
They're tired. It's the day after Christmas. Nobody wants to
do anything.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
You totally understand that, but it stands at the same time.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
But I have to be understanding every year. And yeah,
and I am.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
Back when you were like in elementary school. You never
got cupcakes because school was out. Like I think about
that for people that were born in like July or August, Like,
they've never had a school birthday party, so you never
had a school birthday party.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
They usually don't have a work birthday.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Party, right because we're on vacation, no offense.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
But so that ever happens. I have a little science
behind me, because there's there's studies about this. Seriously, Oh
I saw this this morning. I saw December birthday blues.
I was like, am, let me read this study shows
just how much we miss out. The average person not
(09:19):
born in December gets around six gifts on their birthday.
Those born in December far less. The worst thing you
can do, honestly is give the combo present, Like just
don't bother. That's terrible, right, like just pick one or
the other. But like say this is a combination gifts birthday.
I'll remember that come May. And for for most of
(09:42):
our December, part of December is Sagittarius. But now we're
we're flipping over to Capricorn, so.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Like this week, if not today, Yeah, we're.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
We're on the cusp. We're almost there. So I'm Capricorn.
Producer Christen's Capricorn. We are the most rare zodiac sign,
and we have the least common birthdays Christmas Eve, Christmas,
New Year's Day, the least amount of babies born. Those
are all Capricorns. So even if we feel a little
(10:11):
ignored around our birthdays, we have to remember producer Kristen
that we're very unique. That was the positive spin. You
may get cheated out of gifts, but you are very special,
so you're important.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
It makes you feel better. It's kind of cool, Okay,
he think about that. You know what, other birthdays kind
of stink. I know my sister in law is New
Year's Day.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, that's that's right in there.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
You mentioned that, right, Yeah, what other I guess February
twenty ninth is kind of cool.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah, but stinks. At the same time, you'll, you know,
still celebrate it.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
A lot of people just in winter birthdays kind of
complain about their birthdays. Yeah, they're not good ones, hard
for people to get together. But I'm sorry. We take
the cake right here. Yes, right around Christmas we get
we get the biggest complaint, the biggest wha.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I will say. We're doing our morning show gift exchange
later in the in the day, Yes, and I have
both birthday presents and Christmas presents for both of you.
And thank you to my lovely wife Coco for helping
me and steering me in the right direction too.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
So you guys are incredibly thoughtful.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Thank you more Covey and Christine and the great music
variety you expect next on Light at Them one.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
Six point seven with Covey, Christine producer Kristin. The only
three people in New York that aren't sick. I feel
like everyone's sickle, right, I'm sorry, I'm knock on wood.
I know I just jinxed this. No, I mean like
a lot of people I know are under the weather. Yes,
I just wipe down the microphone because Victor Sosa, our
overnight guy, was a little little stuffy.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
No.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yeah, so we all got something going on. Uh, you
are nervous. I jinxedus right.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Well, yes, unfortunately, subscribe to the whammy. I'm like, whenever
you say it moves.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
Well, we're all for two weeks as of today.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
After today, I don't want to be sick for two
weeks off.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Please we can rest. Well, you're going to be out tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Of us are not resting, Covey.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
You're gonna be wait. Is tomorrow the busiest shopping day
of a whole year?
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (12:07):
And you're going out in that yes? Why?
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Why? Because I have to I don't have enough presence
and I haven't had a lot of free time. And okay,
I'm going to have a meltdown right now.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
And even though there's online available, you prefer to hit
the stores like old school, right.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
As a matter of fact, I was in a store yesterday.
It's called Uncharted. It's in Clifton. It's a really nice store.
It's great for last minute gifts, by the way, or
gifts anytime. The women in front of me were saying
how they're sick of online shopping, because sick of it
because they said it takes the joy out of shopping.
They I literally heard this conversation. It takes the joy
(12:43):
out of shopping. They enjoy going shopping. I do too.
I get ideas when I go. I like to see it,
feel it, you know.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
But music too, Like it's great you can get a
song in a second by downloading it, but I kind
of miss picking up the vinyl and I know, like
when we did sound Exchange. Yeah, your record friends over there.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Yes, I have to go to Sound Exchange.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Where were they again? What time was that?
Speaker 2 (13:04):
That's in Wayne Waye, Jersey. That's a great record store.
And there's really cool vinyl and that's another stop. I'm
definitely gonna make for Eric. But Saturday and Sunday are
considered the busiest shopping days oh the year. This Saturday
has been dubbed Super Saturday. I'm sorry, the second busiest
shopping day of the year behind Black Friday.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
That okay, it's still it's still gonna be busy.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
It's still gonna be busy.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
And don't cheat the self checkout, by the way, because
I was reading a story that a lot of people
this time of year are trying to cheat it and
it's a bad thing. They can find you. They got
cameras everywhere. Yeah, so I get nervous when I'm doing
it and I just I miss a scan. Yeah, guys,
I'm doing it again.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
I'm gonna bo it, nervous boop, there it goes again. Yeah. Apparently,
if if something goes awry at self checkout, there's more
people working now, employees monitoring cameras. They say they have
AI assistant monitor monitoring near kiosks, so they kind of
get the weight if you are putting things in the
(14:08):
bag or not. They I was told, like it even
like detects your motions, so.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
Like it's got a lot better.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, if if it sees like, oh, you didn't boop,
you know before you put it in the bag, right,
it could catch you. But you know, some folks are
saying they do it because times are a little tough.
That not that they're yeah, I understand blatantly taking, but
they're like, oh, they're.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Not going to miss this. They do it. That's a
big deal.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
You can't do that, but that's you know. Four four
three six three. Have you ever had a new shoplift?
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Four four three three? Do you do you cheat the
self checkout? How do you do it?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I was gonna ask like if it ever like sometimes
things accidentally happen you're going out to your car and
you're like, oh, no, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
What do you do then?
Speaker 2 (14:51):
Yeah? Do you go back or you're like there's a
wedge of cheese. I don't know, will they find me?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Go back to customer service? All right? Hit us up?
Four four three six three. We have a trivia battle.
We got that coming up next light FM.

keep it quick.

but it doesn't matter. You are all tied up one one, Sam.

You're going with B Amazon? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Sorry, you almost said it's a Walmart.
Speaker 1 (17:24):

the game, Wendy. If Sam misses this, If Sam gets it,
we're done and Team Cubby finally gets a victory. Here

Speaker 4 (17:43):

Speaker 1 (17:45):
You're gonna go three for three, Sam wins.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
You did it.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
You did it, Wendy.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
If we did the final question, we'd still win. I'm
so sorry, but you've been wonderful.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Thank you, thank you for playing. And Merry Christmas.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Okay, Christmas Christmas, thank you.

Seven fifty nine on this rainy, nasty Friday morning and
Cubby and Christine hanging out with you and Christine. Good morning,
you have all the headlines. What do we need to know?
Speaker 2 (18:59):
Good morning? Thank you well. First off, the suspect in
the Brown University shooting found dead from an apparent self
inflicted gunshot wound in New Hampshire. Officials now say he
is also the suspected killer of an MIT professor. Governor
Hochl says ridership on the city subway system is up
and crime is significantly down. And the Archdiocese of New
(19:22):
York has a new leader. Popelio the fourteenth as appointed
Bishop Ronald Hicks as the next Archbishop of New York
following the formal resignation of Cardinal Timothy Dolan. So if
you are traveling, you know you're going to have a
lot of company, right, I'm not like breaking news here.
TRIPA A is saying a record one hundred twenty two
point four million Americans expected to travel at least fifty
(19:45):
miles from their home this holiday season, and the airports
are ready for you. Air travel will also reach new heights,
with over eight million Americans flying domestically today and tomorrow,
very busy days.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
For the goodness, back in November, they took care of
that whole air traffic control thing. Yeah, Thanksgiving actually ran
pretty good. It was smooth, right, HOPEU they can keep
that going.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
And then today the weather is a factor that that's.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Going to be dicey, and that's just something that you
can't control that one.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
In sports, hockey, Rangers beat the Blues to one. Basketball,
Nick's beat the Pacers one fourteen one thirteen Nets lost
to the Heat one of six ninety five Thursday night
football Seahawks beat the Rams thirty eight twenty seven in overtime.
And finally, have you ever gone to the movies on
Christmas Day? Few stores are open, so diversions are hard
(20:30):
to come by on Christmas Day, making a trip to
the movies one of the only ways families can get
together somewhere other than home and theater's report. Business picks
up after three and four in the afternoon, when presents
have been unwrapped in people with free time or in
search of something to do.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
And what do you know, our friend Harry Medved will
be talking all things movies coming up in about five minutes.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
He is back more Covey and Christine in the Great
Music Variety. You expect next on Light.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
At Them one of six point seven Light of Them.
Good morning. It's Covey, Scene producer Kristen and our dear
friend Harry Medvid from Hollywood and the Cinema Foundation.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Hi, Harry, I love it when you say from Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Yes, you're from Hollywood.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Not Hollywood, Florida, by I make that right true, though
I don't know the way that Hollywood's going is coming
to the East Coast.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Movies shot out here.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
You're gonna hear it to New Jersey.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Yeah, in New Jersey. We're here a couple of weeks ago,
and now we got you back. Well because it's movie
time and this is our final show of the year,
by the way, So Christine, what a perfect way to end. Yes,
this is great, Erry Midvent in all.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
The movies, and everyone's talking about Avatar today. Well there's
a reason for that. A lot of times you go
to the movie theater and you pay I don't know.
Sometimes twenty dollars a ticket, sometimes more in New York City, right,
And he's like, well, what am I getting for my ticket? Is?
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Is the action up on the screen.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Well, when you see a film like Avatar, Fire and Ash,
Holy cow, really the money is up on the screen.
You are getting your money. First of all, do you
know that the movie is three hours and seventeen minutes?
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Ohsh Should I give us a bathroom break? No?
Speaker 4 (21:57):
That's that's my biggest problem with Avatar, Fire and appres.
I had to run to the bathroom like three times.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
There's no talk. Well, I'll tell you, it's so good
it flies by.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
I think that there's so much NonStop action you won't
you won't notice it. It's three hours and seventeen minutes.
Although I did look at my watch at the two
hour and forty five marks. There's one character says, we're.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Not over yet.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
There's more battle than doing. Another character says seriously, And
I'm thinking like, yeah, like seriously, there's more. You gave
us enough, Jim Cameron, thank you so much. But it's
a full meal of a movie.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
It's like, first of all, I felt like it was
going scuba diving, because you enter this world of Pandora again,
and he has this incredible uncanny ability, especially in three D,
where you've got the camera like is half underwater and
half out of the water, and you really feel like
you're in the water with everyone. I mean, you can
kind of feel like the ocean's spraying on you.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Do you know how much money it costs to make
this movie? I don't know if you know, over like.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
Three hundred million three were usually expensive, you know. I
didn't realize that Sigourney Weaver, who's briefly in the film
on camera, she's playing a fourteen year old girl.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
In the movie.
Speaker 4 (22:59):
She's one of the novies, one of the blue people.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
So I think.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
Sigourney's like seventy four years old or something. But she's
really good at playing her fourteen year old self.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
That's great.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
She's amazing.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
And I'll tell you another one who's really this superstar
of the film who just stole the movie for me,
and I didn't really know her work. She's a dancer
and actor, Una Chaplin. She is the daughter of Geraldine Chaplin,
so the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. Plays like the villainous
in the movie, and she's so good. After talking about this,
is there anything else to talk about? I mean no,
there's no other movie.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
It's no.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Well, if you have younger kids then they don't want
to go to a PG thirteen movie. Then of course
you've got the SpongeBob movie, which is also doing very
well of the advanced take a sales. Or if you
won something for the more adult audience, you've got Song
Sung Blue, which is not about Neil Diamond. It's about
Neil Diamond impersonators. So it's Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, who,
(23:50):
by the way, will get a Best Actress nomination one
hundred percent. There are this couple in Milwaukee known as
Thunder and Lightning, and I can't think of a more
enchanting couple than Hudson and Hugh Jackman. They're wonderful. It's
a cheer jerker, though they go through a lot of
tough stuff in their life. Do we know if there's
been a Neil Diamond reaction or anything. I'm sure Neil
Diamond loves this movie very kidding. Every one of his
(24:10):
songs is the film. But it is so in some ways,
it's kind of like a musical but it's so much
better than the typical musical biographies that you've seen.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
And it's based on a true story.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
It is based on a true story. But again, Avatar
is really three hours and seventeen.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
Then if you like long movies, there's also Marty Supreme
with Timothy Schalomey and I have to give you something
from a twenty four. The movie is about ping pong,
So a twenty four, Oh pingo full mention like I've
got forty of these orange Marty Supreme table tennis. I
don't know what else to do except to give them
(24:44):
to you, Cuppy and Christine.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
But oh, I still love playing ping pong. It's been
wild for me.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
And you would not think that you would go to
see the movie about ping pong and that would be exciting.
Sounds like tittley wings. How are you gonna make a
movie about table tennis tournaments? But Timothy Shallome is the
salesman with pickle ball. One's pick a ball coming. Hey, Harry,
what do you have playing for the holiday? We gotta
let you go. You're flying back today. I am flying
back actually tomorrow morning. Okay, yeah, but hanging with a family,
(25:09):
I'm gonna go to New Orleans for our winning anniversary.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
Oh, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
Twenty five years now, well, here's to everybody having a
wonderful time with family and loved ones during the holidays.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
Absolutely time together.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Good to see you guys, Thank Gary, Merry Christmas, you too,
