Speaker 1 (00:00):
Other week begins, thank you for choosing us as you
start your week. It's one of six point seven Light FM.
My name is Cubby. That would be Christin Naggy and
producer Kristin. Who saw ghosts today? Or no? Maybe a
real person you'll know. Yeah, more on that in just
a second. But welcome back. Do you have a good weekend, Christine?
For the most part, chill, relax, watch anything on TV.

(00:20):
Did you watch The Billy Child? Now?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
We didn't get We had a plan to watch it yesterday,
we did not. I went shopping on Saturday. Whoa, it
felt really good.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Not grocery shopping.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Not grocery shopping. I already tackled that. But yes, Bloomingdale's sales,
all special events, nordstrums.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Do you have your outfit picked out for Thursday?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
All right.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I wanted to get a dress for Broadway and Bryant Park.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
For those that don't know, come on down to Broadway
and Bryant Park on Thursday for Disney Day. We're all
going to be there. It's a free event. See Broadway,
absolutely free. That's on Thursday. Yeah. I checked out thirty
minutes of Happy Gilmour two over the weekend, and Twitter
was kind of it, but I'm kind of liking it.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
We saw it, I loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I'm thirty minutes in. I didn't know it's two hours.
By the way, it's wrong. That's kind of long for
Happy Gilmore. Yeah, but it's very funny, a lot of cameos.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
It's quick. It's very quick, like the storyline is quick,
and it's a lot of nostalgia. If you if you
enjoyed the first one. They know, they referenced that one
a lot, right, It's good.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
I liked it. Another thing I did over the weekend
I went to Coriola Experience aka Coriola Factory twice.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Two times. Wow, okay, so one time you were invited
as so Saturday.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Correct, that was an official Light FM appearance on Saturday,
and the kids were going to go to that, but
then we realized there was a birthday party that they
were invited to at the same time. So Coco, my
wife goes, you go, you do your like quote job,
you know, and we'll go ahead and maybe try tomorrow.
So we woke up on Sunday and the kids were like,
can we go to Coyola Factory? And then Coco looked

(01:53):
at me, like you want to do it again because
would be a second time for me, but at first
for them, and they hadn't been there in a long time.
So well, two days in a row, the hour drive
to eastern Pennsylvania, but they enjoyed it. I was there
twice in twenty four hours. But it is a fun place.
I love it. Shout out to Creola Experience. And now, Kristen,
you're driving in today. You leave your house at what time?
About three forty five three forty five am? And what

(02:15):
did you witness?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I witnessed a woman, random woman sitting on the sidewalk
on a residential road. This isn't a highway, It's not
like Root nine. I take a residential road to get
to Root nine on my way here and there's a
there's a traffic light, no other street lights. Houses are
pushed back. One other car in front of me, but
pretty far ahead of me, no other cars in sight.

(02:37):
And there's a random woman just sitting on the sidewalk.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
And you rubbed your eyes and you're like, is this real?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
I questioned myself for a moment, and I was like,
am I delirious? I know it's Monday, but no, And
then I thought should I call the cops, like I didn't, Right,
That's what I was worried about.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Was she like crying or any emotion?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Didn't look like it.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
It was.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
It was also quick. I was driving.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Did you get an age by looking at her? Like?

Speaker 3 (03:02):
Middle aged?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Middle age?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Not old, not a child.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Could she have been dropped off by some nut job?
I don't know, homeless?

Speaker 3 (03:10):
She didn't look homeless.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
It was like a nice dress or like a messed
up It was.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Just like it was black. It looked like a black
dress that she had on. And she was just sitting
there doing nothing, not moving.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
She was just sitting there, didn't look in distress. I
know it was quick for you, so.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
It didn't look like it.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
I couldn't get a facial expression. I couldn't even if
you told me to draw her. I couldn't even tell
you what her face looked like. Right, But I was
a little freaked out. It's three forty five in the morning.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Right, and it feels like the middle of nowhere, so
to speak.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Right, Yeah, Yeah, that that's kind of eerie. I think
you know, are you a member of like your town's
Facebook page? Like we are in our in East Brunswick?
We have look like East Brunswick helping each other. It's
called Yeah. People can chime in on things going around town.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
I do, and I'm refreshing it. I've been refreshing it
all most Okay. See if somebody says something, yeah, but
I don't know, like, am I wrong? Should I have
called the police? Like, I don't know? Like I didn't.
I thought about it.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
That's a tough call because if she didn't look distressed,
you know.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
But that's it's random.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
It was awkward, like God forbid, something just terrible happened
to her right and she was just like coming out
of it there there. You never know. You never know.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
You called police and say, wellness check, I mean like,
what do you you know?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Right?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I know?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Do you know the intersection? If you were to call,
I mean probably too late now that was three hours ago.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
I know, I do know the intersection.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
I'm hoping I have an update because I would like
to know.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I'll tell you what if she's there at eleven am
when you drive by or way home, Yeah, pick her up.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah we got a problem.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
More Covey and Christine coming your way on light.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
At that pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
It's three pretty cool things you need to know.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
Three pretty cool people. As I always say, Cobby, Christine
and producer Christen. I'm thinking Christmas already, after all, we
did Christmas in July on Friday night.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Uh, here's a fun question for you. It's almost like
a nearly impossible question. What is the most popular non
traditional Christmas gift? Oh? Non traditional? Most popular?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Oh gosh, non traditional?

Speaker 3 (05:08):
I don't know because my head right away goes to
like a blanket.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
But well, they could be a regular gift, a candle, right,
a puppy.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
A puppy because you wouldn't expect it, but it also
it makes sense as a gift. Yeah, and number two
is a trip to Disney World. Producer christ.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, I'll take the trip to Disney World. A Puppy's
a big commitment.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
That's what I'm saying, right, all right, what do you
have as a cool thing, Christine?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Well, this is great. Kids Night in Broadway is coming
back and it's going to be Tuesday, August nineteenth. So
I want to give you a heads up because kids
and teens under the age of eighteen can go to
a Broadway show for free.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Get them hooked early do it.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
They'll love it as long as they're with an adult
who's paid full price for a ticket. And there are
eighteen shows participating. All our favorite shows are in so
again that is Kids Night on Broadway Tuesday, August nineteenth.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
All right, and on to you, Kristen, is a new
Lego set that's bringing back some nostalgia. On October first,
the Lego is going to release the original game Boy set.
So we're talking like the big gray console. Oh my
good white screen. It's a brick built replica with four
hundred and twenty one pieces and you'll be able to
actually press like the A and B buttons and the

(06:21):
start buttons.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
That's cool.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Yeah, it's super cool. I think the coolest detail is
the game pack slot, so you'll be able to customize
your display screen with popular games from back in the
day like Zelda or Mario R. Wait, that's pretty cool.
Retail price is fifty nine ninety nine and you can
pre order it right now.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
That's not cool now joking, that's probably right on, Paul Lego. Yeah,
all right, Ricona back more variety from the eighties through.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Today, more Covey and Christine and the great music variety.
You expect next on light at.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Them Christine in the morning, it's light FM. All right,
identify this sound.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
It would be a bus.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'd be a bus. And who's under it?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Oh, Eric's going under the bus.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Your fiance, Eric's going under the bus. But he ain't listening.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
He don't know. He's sleeping.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
I don't even know what you're gonna tell me, but
you told me you have an interesting story. I can
relate to it.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Can I just preface this with saying how much I
love and adore Eric, and he is truly a wonderful person.
And I've been through this health thing and he's been
there for me in every way. But I share with
you guys the little things that I think may be relatable.
So I had an appointment to see a massage therapist.
This is like, you know, physically, like I really need

(07:36):
this right on. It was last Wednesday at noon. Her
name is Nancy. She's incredible. I was looking forward to it.
On Wednesday she had to cancel because she had a
sinus infection. So when I went home told Eric, I'm
so disappointed. I thought I was gonna see Nancy. She
doesn't feel well. Okay. Then Friday, we're having dinner together,
and he's got a gig in Brooklyn in the evening.

(07:58):
So while we're having dinner, you know, we're talking about
the weekend. He's gonna be gone all day Saturday, Friday night,
he's leaving me. So I said, yeah, now Sunday. And this.
I had told him this on Wednesday. So when Nancy canceled,
she moved me to Sunday. So now I'm on Sunday
at noon. Tell him that at dinner. He gets in
the car, he drives to his gig in Williamsburg. He

(08:21):
gets there early, so he's got to kill some time.
And he calls me. And now, because he's on the phone,
I guess he's like super focused on what I'm saying.
So he starts again with, well, I'm not around tomorrow.
What should we do on Sunday? Maybe we can go
to the park, babe. I said, no, I'm going to
Nancy at noon on Sunday. And he said what I said,

(08:41):
I'm going to Nancy at noon on Sunday to get
the massage. I said, I told you this Wednesday, and
I told you this at dinner, and he went, yeah,
I wasn't listening.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Yeah, it's okay, Eric, I'm with you, Eric, It's okay.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
It happens so nonchalant about like not even like he
felt bad. Yeah, I wasn't.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Because he knew what you were gonna say. He knew
your next line was you weren't listening, were you? And
he admitted, hey, man, you got me. I wasn't listening.
I totally forgot Cubby.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I told him on Wednesday when it was canceled. I
told him on Friday at dinner when we're having dinner together,
but we're when we're on the phone, it was like
he was hearing it for the first time.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
And that was only a couple hours after the second
time exactly.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
And you know how the conversation ended. It ended with
what the and he drops the phone, goes out of
the car, and I just hear like yelling out there
because he's in Williamsburg, you know, in the city when
people like the parallel parking's tight and people will just
like bang into your car just to get out of

(09:44):
the spot. They didn't realize he was sitting in the car,
and I heard a full on like right, yeah, So
now like our conversation's done because he's dealing with that
and everything turned out to be okay. I kind of like,
you're in the distance, it's okay man, his car?

Speaker 5 (10:00):
What's that?

Speaker 2 (10:01):
There was no damage, so that's why I heard it's
okay man. And then he comes back to the car,
He's like, did you hear that? I'm like, yeah, I
heard that. I'm like hysterical. I like, what is going on?

Speaker 1 (10:11):
And you heard that? You were listening to that?

Speaker 5 (10:14):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
And I was concerned, right, but.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, you know, you guys need because I make that
mistake all the time. I'm not listening and I try,
But what are two? It's gonna slip through. We have
a family calendar? Do you do that? Do you share
a calendar on your I phone?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
He shares his.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
I don't share mine because Coco a lot of times
will be like, hey, I'm not gonna be here on Wednesday.
I have an appointment. I put it in the calendar
and now she says that, So that's my safety net.
So if I don't know what's going on tomorrow, I
just double check, like today in case I missed noted.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
I think I have to start putting my appointments in.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Do you do that, Kristen family calendar?

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Well, we have a physical one because my husband Ryan
doesn't check his phone calendar ever, so we have one
up in the kitchen and that's where I write everything,
so he knows.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Go look, well the good news. Your fiance doesn't listen
to our show ever, so he's.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Not Oh yeah, he doesn't know that I'm telling this
story right. We won't let him. Just between us.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Now we're good. Okay, there's only seven listeners right now,
We're good. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next on light at them.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
We are one of six pointy seven Light FM Cubby
and Christine in the morning producer Christen six point fifty
And yeah, you can rent a grandma?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Isn't this great?

Speaker 1 (11:25):
I love this idea?

Speaker 2 (11:25):
So so many of us grew up with their grandmas
who are sweet, warm, loving and may not be with
us anymore.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
My grandma would have been one hundred and twenty four
this week.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Yeah. Yeah, she passed away in eighty eight, but she
was born in nineteen oh one.

Speaker 5 (11:38):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Anyway, So a company in Japan realizes, Kuby that we
don't all have our grandmas anymore, and they offer client
services and one of their most popular services is rent
a Grandma twenty three dollars an hour. They will send
a senior woman over to your house. She can cook
a homemade meal for you, give you life advice, and
keep you company.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
She'll say this, I'm falling and I can get up. Yeah,
remember her. Yes, that's a great idea. Can you put
her to work? Like for twenty three bucks an hour?
Well she gets do you have vacuum a little bit?

Speaker 2 (12:12):
We don't do that.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Is it a real grandma, like a real a home.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
You get a homemade meal that's working.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Oh that's worth it.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
I mean yeah, twenty three bucks.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
And it's like, will she knit on the sofa and
fall asleep? Maybe start bobbing her head. My grandma used
to do that.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
The company says they have life experience, warmth, and wisdom,
and they are irreplaceable companions.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
You know at my first rate, well my second radio station.
In nineteen ninety, when I went to Houston, Texas, I
was in the hallway and there wasn't a lady in
her fifties, but she was dressed up like a woman
in her eighties, almost like Mother from Psycho was really weird, okay,
And I was like who was this old lady that
looks like the where's the beef lady walking around her
hallway and they go, oh, here at the radio station,

(12:55):
we have a girl called Granny git Well and it's
a woman that dresses up like a grandma and she
visits hospitals for kids and we'll sit next to them
and hold hand and tell an old story and stuff
like that and tell them read books. I mean, that's
a great idea.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
Is really sweet.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
We should do that right now. Get a Granny git
Well and just go to a hospital and comfort people.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
Yeah, you could be the next Missus doubt fire.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Thank you, Kristin problem. I appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next on Light.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
If you're doing the dating thing, apparently ghosting is out,
speed dumping is in.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
That's wonderful.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Yeah, I'll tell you all about it here one to
six pointy seven Light, afmcuvey and Christine in the morning
producer Christi is here speaking of dating. If you've ever
been on a crazy first date, we have Dualipa concert tickets.
If you give us a text at four four three
sixty three, just say hey, I have a story for you.
We'll reach out to you, we'll get you on the air,
and if we use you on the air, we'll give
you the Dualipa concert tickets for the Garden on September seventeenth, wonderful.
So here's what I'm hearing, Christine. Ghosting is out. Speed

(13:52):
dumping is in. Singles who think it's rude to cut
off contact after a dud of a first date are
opting for what some consider an overcorect over correction. It's
called the breakup text. So if you're one or two
dates in, you flat out just text I'm sorry. I
think you're a nice person, but I'm not into it.
And then they found that more people are responding favorably.

(14:14):
They're not coming back snarky like how dare you? They're saying, wow,
thank you.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
For letting me know, yes, so I can move on.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
So it's almost like something we've always known but avoided
is what to do.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Always, And it always felt kind of rude for somebody
just to disappear. You know, I know you don't owe
a person a lot if it's a couple of dates,
but sometimes, you know, I had the experience where I
was like I thought things were going well and we
had a rapport and the person would ghost me right,
And I just that that's like an awful feeling because
it's like.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
You thought of everything that possibly could be wrong.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
And it's always me, what is it right? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (14:47):
Exactly. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
If I had heard from the person like, hey, you know,
think of you as a friend, whatever it is, right,
it just would have felt so much better. There would
have been some closure.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah. I think people that ghost are the people that
just or not they're cowards, they're world scared. I get it.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
It's uncomfortable, and that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
I think they're worried about the confrontation. But now we're
at the point where it's like, let's just be honest, right,
I get it over with.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
And we've learned. You'll be happy to know be honest
because you will get ninety five percent of the time,
you'll get a thank you text or I appreciate you
letting me know. You're not going to get someone firing back.
How dare you not like me? That's I mean, it
may happen, but the chances are low. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
No, this is so good. I wish this. We're trending.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
A few years ago.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
This ghosting is out, speed dumping is in, and we
want to hear from you. At four four three six.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Three Covey and Christine in the morning more Next on
one O six point seven Light FM, It's Covey and
Christine's crazy first date.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
This is good morning, Jean. How are you?

Speaker 5 (15:46):
I'm wow? How are you know?

Speaker 2 (15:47):
We're good? We're excited to hear about your crazy first date.
When did it happen? How did you guys meet?

Speaker 5 (15:52):
So it was about a year and a half ago.

Speaker 6 (15:55):
I was newly single and I went on those god
Forstaken dating apps and I.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Started talking to someone.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
We had good conversation back and forth for a couple
of weeks and decided to meet in person.

Speaker 5 (16:09):
He asked if I could feed him at a restaurant
on my way home from work, and I did, hold
me what car he was going to begin? I pulled
into the parking lot and he got into my car
and he.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Said that he wanted to talk for a while and
get to know me because the restaurant was crouded and loud.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Okay me, being new to the dating scene, I was
like okay. So he got in my car and we
talked for about forty five minutes and he said, would
you mind if I kissed you? And I said okay.

Speaker 6 (16:42):
And I kissed him and then he unzipped his pan
and whipped it out.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Oh my goodness, right in the parking lot. That's not
a date. Ro Jean held fast And how could you
get him out of the car?

Speaker 6 (16:58):
Like, no, seriously, I had peppers right on me and
as soon as he I freaked out and I was like,
get out in my car, get out of my car.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
And there were other people around, Thank goodness. So I
he got out of the.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Car and you never heard from him again, I would assume.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
And how did you get him out of the car?

Speaker 5 (17:16):
I blocked him.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
I just started screaming and told him he's got to
get out, and then I blocked him.

Speaker 5 (17:21):
So I have no idea if you ever to reach
out to me again.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
What a guy.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
Wow, Well that was quite the story. Where are you
in life right now as we speak? Are you married? No?

Speaker 5 (17:31):
I'm in the middle of a terrible divorce.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Oh I'm sure, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
Oh no, it's fine, it's better off this way.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
Well, can you grab a friend and go see do
Alipa because she should have a great show. Okay, good,
because Jeane, you have won a pair of tickets to
see Do a Lipa. She'll be at Madison Square Garden
September seventeenth. Tickets on sales Friday, ten am ticketmaster dot com.
You've been through enough, Jean, we're sending you. You've got
the tickets. Oh, thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
I've never been doing.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Concert in here.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Oh I have wonderful We're gonna get you out.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
You deserve it.

Speaker 3 (18:01):
Yes, great, thank you.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you
expect next on light at.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
