Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ed Charon, one of six point seven light FM, Covey
and Christine in the morning producer Christen, it is August first,
kind of feels like September first if you go outside,
very refreshing. Of course, the air mass we have in
place right now, well it's courtesy of the storms we
had yesterday, which was crazy, crazy. So let's talk about
yesterday for a second. Broadway and Brian Park.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Beautiful, fink.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
We nailed it right.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
It was a gorgeous send off. Yes, we closed out
the season with our Disney friends. Yep, it was absolutely beautiful.
The weather held off to the very last minute and
then boom, boom boom, and you and I.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Had to go to a little part hey, Kristin you
split right right at the end of the Broadway on
rest and then Christine and I went to a party
with our people of tons of Hey Liftansa. We love
you so much. They're a huge partner with us. They
are and credible through a great party and we hung
out there for a bit. Then you and I went
(00:59):
to our car, Christine. Yes, I got in my car
at two thirty five Midtown, Manhattan, two thirty five. I
put in my ways, my GPS my home address. It
said an hour and a half. I went all right,
not bad. Normally it's an hour and five. Yeah, maybe
fifty five on a good day. Okay, hour and a
half bad weather coming in, not too bad. I made
(01:20):
my trek through the Lincoln Tunnel very slowly. I made
my crawl what do you call that thing that goes
around into yes, thank you, thank you. I was moving
one mile an hour and the GPS never moved it never.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Like oh, usually o'clock usually goes on.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
It just hung it an hour and a half, hour
and a half. Long story short, it took almost three
hours to get home. I got home at five twenty
East Brunswick, New Jersey. Shout out East Brunswick. And what
time did you get home, Christine?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
I forget I texted you. I think it was four ish,
but I live a lot closer to Manhattan, but still
a long time, long time. I got stuck in the
traffic on Route three, which was starting to flood, and
I went into like immediate survival mode, like, oh, I'm
going to be on Root three for the rest of
my life. So I was checking how much water I
(02:12):
had and the only food that I had in the
car were the little link chocolates that the people at
Lufsanza gave us, and I was like, I have to
make this chocolate last. I will only have absolutely. I
was going to be there like oh and I had
to make it. And that chocolate's really good by the way. Okay, yes,
but Kristen, did you have us all beat?
Speaker 1 (02:32):
It took I'm thinking you beat us because you left
a half hour early.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
But I did beat you.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yes, I got home well after three o'clock. It took
me almost two and a half hours to get home.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
And it was what we call like white knuckle driving,
right where you're like stressed, you're yeah for everyone out there,
and you saw like footage from the clear View Expressway.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I did. Yeah, there was a truck underwater.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Yeah. Again, it depends on where you were, because I
know some people hit me up, you know, they know
I love weather and they're like, hey man, it's not
that bad. But literally you go five miles a different
direction and there's flooding. So it all depends on where
exactly you were. Overall, it was a bad day.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
It was.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Yeah, it was very intense. Even on my ride home
on the Turnpike. The lightning was so close. It was
striking so close that the whole turnpike lit up at
one point well, and the thunder was loud. And then
by the time I got to the parkway, everyone was
at a dead stop. Not because of traffic, but because
the rain was so hard. It was coming down so
fast that you couldn't see an inch in front of you,
(03:33):
So everyone just literally stopped driving.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Yeah, you just couldn't see.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Our kids' daycare closed early. Smart move. Miss Krinn, good
job because she saw it coming and all the parents
wanted to get there early and beat it, so that
was good. But anyway, we paid for it yesterday. It's
getting better today and the weekend might be dare I
say perfect? It looks beautiful, seventy eight degrees and sunny.
I love it. Yeah, no humidity. Enjoy the weekend. Everybody.
(04:00):

Variety you expect next on light at.

producer Christen. Can we talk about foods we hate?
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yeah, we always talk about foods we love.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Now foods we hate.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
Let's sign the light on foods we hate for yes?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Yeah, yeah, because we just saw this, didn't we Yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
The survey and this was taken like across the country,
all different ages. But like one thing that's resounding is
that seafood really takes a hit.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
People love it or hate it right or hate it.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Hate it over all, there's like a lot more hate
for seafood. People don't like anchovies or sardines.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I'm gonna know on those two.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, and you were a big no you mentioned this
the other day or you never had it?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Caviar right, No, I've had it, but I don't get
the hype. I don't. I mean it's it's fish, eggs, I.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Mean caviar, squid, oysters, and sushi are on the list
for hate.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
I love sushi. There's some sushi I I don't do,
but for the most part, I love sushi. How about you, Christin.
I'm not a big fan of sushi, any seafood at
all and I do.
Speaker 7 (07:33):
I do like.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Seafood, yeah, but not sushi. I can't do the raw
stuff all right.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
There is one food we hate more than anything, though, liver.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
No.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I don't think I've ever had liver.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
No, honest, I think you're fortunate.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
No, liver worst, yes, but I've had that, not liver.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
And why do I like that?
Speaker 1 (07:51):
But oh do you? I did?
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I used to.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I haven't had it in years. When I was little,
I used to.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Have it, right, Yeah, And Christine, you're a no on seafood.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Right, I'm gonna one seafood. Tofu's high on the list too.
By the way, I don't like to It doesn't bother me.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
My wife loves it. If I get something with tofu
on it, I just pick it.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I know I'll eat it. I like it too.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Nothing surprising, really, No, there's nothing.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
People don't like blue cheese. I love blue cheese. I
feel like through life things have changed though, Like at
one point I hated blue cheese.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Now I like it.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
That happened with olives for me, used to hate them,
love them.
Speaker 6 (08:28):
Right.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
If you're having, like a an appetizer at a cocktail
party and you have the carrots, and the celery. Do
you dip it in blue cheese or do you dip
it in ranch?
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Ranch?
Speaker 1 (08:39):
See? I could barely tell the difference. Get out. Really
they're both. They're both good to me.
Speaker 3 (08:45):
Sure, Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
If I see two white cups, I'm like, I know
one's ranch and I know one is right, but I
don't care. I like them.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
So what about wings?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Right?
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Buffalo wings? Usually people dip them in sometime type of sauce.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Which one do you eat? I do both? You do both?
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Christina?
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Easy to please?
Speaker 5 (09:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (09:05):
I get both?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yah, yeah, but I tend to use ranch a lot too.
There is like a generational thing going on here too.
It says that women more than men. Uh, I said generational,
and then I went to but women more than men
hate seafood. Men tend to dislike veggies like Brussels sprouts,
but generational younger adults tend to dislike the condiments. I
only want to say the word in front of kristin
(09:28):
mustard mayo and pickles and that red one, and and
older adults stronger feelings against again seafood and tofu.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
There you go, all right? What food makes you vomit?
Hit us up at four four three, six.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
Three more Covey and Christine and the great music variety

it because I know the answer and you too don't.
It's kind of fun. Yeah, it's like toying with you,
(10:06):
you know, like I have a piece of candy right
in front of you and figure it out. I know,
I'm gonna play you a little clip of a celebrity voice.
You have to identify it, Christine and Kristin and do
we win again again? I usually Venmo, five bucks or PayPal,
whatever you need, cash, cash, app whatever, cash. And if
you're listening at home, just play along see if you
(10:28):
can figure out who this celebrity mystery voice is. And
I'm doing a different twist. I'm not playing anything from
an interview or anything. This is a This is from
a TV show. Stand a Chance, So maybe a stand
a chance?
Speaker 3 (10:40):
An actor actress? Yep, we already have a hint there.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
All right, and it's from a TV show, And I'll
give you a clue maybe if you need help identify
this voice.
Speaker 5 (10:49):

along with this.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
He's a great guy. M hmm, I'll give you a clue.

Speaker 2 (11:00):

way over here. He turned up the music and was
singing along with us. He's a great guy.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Who is that eighties family? I tell you what. It
was a TV show about a family. Okay, there are
several kids on the show.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
It was.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
It was a huge show on NBC back in the eighties.
It was number one forever. Yeah, we had a.
Speaker 5 (11:28):
Lot of fun on the way over here. He turned
up the music and was singing along with us.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
He's a great guy.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
I don't know, man, hit the buzzer.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Is there another hints? Can you give us one more?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
It's her birthday today. If you have the birthday list,
you'll figure it out there we go, Okay, celebrity birthday.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
I can't find it fast enough. I can't do it,
Coby the pressures on.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
That would be the voice of tempest blood cell Vanessa
Huxtable from The Cosby Show.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Cosby Show.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
She's gonna go with the Cosby Show.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
She's fifty two years old today.
Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, we had a lot of fun on the way
over here. He turned up the music and was singing
along with us. He's a great guy.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Now do you hear it?
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Now?
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Do you know who it is?
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Well, you're still done here?
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I know who it is.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
Have you seen the show?
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Christy? You were born in eighty seven?
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yes, I've seen the show many times.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Okay, still don't hear it? All right?
Speaker 2 (12:23):
You should have just gone with my answer, which I
don't think. I would have narrowed it down to the actor, okay, actress.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
So on a difficulty level like five being the hardest
one easy? Was that a five for you guys?
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:34):
All right, I promise next week I'll be easier.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah, make it a one?
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Did you guess it? Text us four four, three six three?
Did you know who it was?
Speaker 5 (12:42):
More?
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Cobby and Christine coming your way on light at them.
It's Cobby and Christine's crazy first.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Dates and Kobby Amelia is checking in with us. Good morning, Amelia,
Good morning. Okay, so you're crazy first day? When did
it happen? How'd you guys meet?
Speaker 6 (13:00):
So?
Speaker 7 (13:00):
I went to college in Philly, and I wasn't really
dating until probably like my senior year, and I met
this guy and he wanted to like go out for
drinks and just you know, just kind of do like
a casual whatever. So he suggested going to one of
these places for happy hour because you could get like
a thirteen dollars Margarita pitcher or whatever. And so I
(13:22):
didn't know that the happy hour was from four to six,
which is an unusually early.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
One for me.
Speaker 7 (13:29):
So we decided that we were going to meet it
like five thirty ish or so I thought. And then
he didn't really talk. And so when I show up
at five thirty, I go up the stairs and I
find him at the bar and he had been there
since four and he is like so drunk.
Speaker 5 (13:44):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
It took me like not that long to figure out
that he was absolutely intoxicated, and he was getting a
little like, i don't know, rude and handsy, and I
was just not having the good time. So I was like, okay,
like let's just take you down the stairs, like let's
just get you an.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Uber or whatever. And as we're going down.
Speaker 7 (13:59):
The hallway, he completely falls and I like, I can't
pick him up.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
He's like twice my size, and I'm already just like pissed.
Speaker 7 (14:08):
And there are these two guys that are like coming
up the stairs at the same time, and you know,
they kind of jumped to the rescue and they're like,
oh my god, like we got him, you know. Then
he's like no, no, no, like, we're going to walk
this guy like down to the corner to wait for
like your uber or whatever. And they walked them down
with me and.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
I was like, oh, thanks so much, like I really
appreciate it, you know.
Speaker 7 (14:28):
And one of the guys was like, no, I'm going
to stay here with you because I don't you know,
this guy's kind of handsy, like I want to make
sure that he gets.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
In the uber.
Speaker 7 (14:35):
And that guy and I ended up talking and having
a really really good connection, and he just graduated from
Drexel and that is the man that I ended up marrying.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Oh wow, so your date fell down and you fell
in love with somebody else exactly right. And when he
fell was it like kind of like a fall you
could laugh about, or was it like, oh my god,
this guy's like really hurt kind of fall.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Well, it was like kind of one of those sitcom
ones where you're falling down the side of the like
the stairs, where you're like trying to hold onto the railings.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Like Jack Tripper. Yeah, like a Three's Company. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
And where are you at in life now?
Speaker 7 (15:13):
I've been married for four years now.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
Congratulations, crazy first day with a very happy ending.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Exactly. We love a good happy ending.
Speaker 3 (15:21):

four degrees head no high of seventy two. And let's
get to the bottom of the nearly impossible.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Question, Cubby.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Most people will do this with their face at least
five times today.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (16:44):
Who are we talking to?
Speaker 7 (16:47):
Teresa?

Speaker 5 (16:56):
There we go.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Hold on one second, we'll get you information. By the way,
that answer took a long time to get. I thought
it'd be easy.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Did I thought it was going to be easy too.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
Maybe it was the way it was worded. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
I mean lots of smiles. We had smiles.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
We had frowns touching the face and all that. But anyway,
off to Katie Perry, Congratulations.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
More Covey and Christine and the great music variety you expect.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Next on Light at them eight o'clock. Good morning, Christine,
hasn't updated all your news right here?
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Good morning Christine, and good morning Covey. And yes, yesterday
was pretty incredible for some of us in New York City,
New Jersey, where we had a state of emergency declared.
It depended on where you were, but certain roadways underwater.
So hoping that everybody got home safely yesterday. President Trump
has signed an executive order increasing tariffs on products from
(17:41):
around seventy countries. Originally set to go into effect today,
the new rates will now kick in next week. Trade
deals so far been agreed to with the European Union, UK, Japan,
South Korea. He has extended the deadline with Mexico for
an extra ninety days. He said that they are working
it out. US Special Envoy to the Middle East has
(18:02):
arrived in Gaza, and Special Envoy Steve Whitcoff was in
Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Nett and Yahoo
early today whitcof was seen arriving with his convoy at
an AID distribution center in southern Gaza. Today is World
Lung Cancer Day. It serves as a global day of
awareness to educate people about lung cancer. It causes prevention,
(18:24):
the importance of early detection, and the day also aims
to support those affected by the disease their caregivers highlight
the need for continued research and advancements in treatment. The
La Chargers crushed the Detroit Lions yesterday thirty four to seven. Cubby,
you've got football now for.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
The rest of the season until February. And I didn't
care about the game last night at all, but I
had it on. It was great to have football once.
It was like having a grilled cheese sandwich. It was comfort.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
It's a comfort.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
And after a long rain delay yesterday, the Yankees managed
to get their game in. I didn't think it was
going to happen, but they beat the Rays seven. They'll
play the Marlins in Miami tonight, and tonight the Mets
are hosting the Giants at seven to ten. Really important
night at City Field because the Mets are encouraging a
bone marrow registry drive at the game very incredibly. You
(19:16):
could save somebody's life.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
All right.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
You go to the supermarket, you see the self checkout line.
Do you go for it or do you fear it?
A lot of people say they won't do it because
they're afraid of looking stupid for the people who are
waiting behind them. They feel like they can't use the
self service checkout machines properly, and they get embarrassed.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I get a little nervous. If I have like five
items or less, I feel better.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Probab either you can't go to them unless you have
like twenty or less.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Right in supermarket, I've seen people with full blown carts.
Me too at the self checkout. Why are you doing that? Yeah,
that's too much.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
It's a lot of work.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Yeah, it really is. I don't know, so you don't
do it? You Christy? You do self checkout?
Speaker 5 (19:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Sometimes when it's a few items, yeah, yeah, not a
whole grocery card, no, no, no, you'll be there for
days exactly.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
All right, thank you Christine for the update. You know what,
today's an anniversary. It was August first, nineteen eighty one
MTV began broadcasting in America. It aired its first video
and I know you know what it is.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Of course, what is it? Video killed the radio star.
I don't even like to say it, Coby.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
I know because we're doing fine us radio people, aren't
we like radio.
Speaker 6 (20:30):
We're hanging in there more Covey and Christine and the
great music variety you expect.
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Next on light at Them Jim Happy Friday? Can you
believe it's August? First? What you call six point seven LANFM?
Cubby and Christine in the morning producer Kristen, thank you
all of those people that joined us yesterday at Broadway
in Bryant Park. It was a great crowd, it really was. Yeah,
the nature was good to us pretty much. The bottom
dropped out right as the show was wrapping up, just
(20:55):
as we left one fifteen I think it wrapped up,
and then we headed over to that Tanza party.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yes, the after party with Luftanza was beautiful.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
We have so many great partners and Liftanza just hooked
us up. Thank you, Liftanza, Thank you. And then right
around that time it started really coming down. And how
long was your commune home, Christine?
Speaker 2 (21:13):
I left at two thirty and got home at four,
where normally I should be home within half an hour Okay.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
I left at two thirty, got home at five twenty.
I should be home within forty nine minutes.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
It took like three hours, and Kristin had an incredibly
stressful drive about two and a half a little less
than two and a half hours, and I left a
little earlier than you guys did.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Yeah, but I got caught in that.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
That's in the thick of it. That was. That was
some scary moments there.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, if you haven't been outside today though, I mean,
we paid for it yesterday. But now the reward, it
feels really nice out. It's sixty three degrees.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I love this weather so much. And then the weekend
looks just stunning.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Yeah, the kind of weekend where you might not want
to go to the movies.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
I know, but there's a movie I want to see.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Hate the Pooper in the movies. It's gonna beautiful this weekend, you.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Know, like I finally have a chance. Eric is fine
off on a weekend never ever happens. My drummer fiance
and we were trying to go to a Broadway show.
I don't know if the tickets are coming through, So
my backup plan was I want to see Superman. I
haven't seen it yet, but I know it's so gorgeous.
It's like, do we go to the movies.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Look, you could say it's just a couple hours.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
Yeah, there's that. And we haven't had like a date
night in a while.
Speaker 5 (22:21):
We need to do that.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
There's so Superman is still playing, and obviously Fantastic four
is going strong. They think it's going to be number one,
even though Naked Gun is opening this weekend.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Do you think that will be number one?
Speaker 4 (22:34):
No?
Speaker 2 (22:34):
No, the experts are predicting it won't be number one.
A strong number two, strong number two. And The Bad
Guys Too is in theaters that's expected to do well. Yeah,
you've got options.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
You do a real quick back to our Broadway in
Bryant Park. If you go to our social media handles,
you'll see all the pictures and I just want to
shout out Aladdin, the Lion King, Frozen.
Speaker 2 (23:00):
The Beast, Beauty and the Beast.
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Oh they're so nice people, I mean, oh.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
They're wonderful, the best. And yes, we've got so many
videos where you can actually see the performances. So if
you follow Light FM on social, yeah you can see them.
They're so great.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Bruci Christian, what'd you think of your very first Broadway
in Bryant Park.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
I had so much fun and it was the perfect day,
right because it was Disney Day and I loved Disney.
It was just amazing. I had so much fun, and
I met a couple listeners. Paula from West Milford. She
stopped me on my way out and she loves listening
to us, so that was nice.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I had a great time, all right.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Yeah, and you're gonna have a great time with three
hours commercial free coming up next.
